Love In Love, My Love For Basketball
Hello, my name is Tamara, and I m in love with this sport. I m 18 years old, a senior in high school. I
m a sprinter in the 100 200m 400m events. It may not be much, but I just thought I d share my story
and my dreams simply because I enjoy doing so. It all started in eighth grade, I was 15. I never had
any experience with sports whatsoever except for basketball earlier that year, and honestly had no idea
what I was doing. I felt I had no physical ability and had low self esteem when it came to my athletic
ability. I was 4 6 and still managed to get on picked for the team for basketball, though probably being
one of the shortest people in the group. Basketball has been a sport I ve always liked, and realizing
how hard it really was to actually play was a hard pill for me to swallow. During the period of the
season, I spent the time in basketball off season to practice on what needed to know and what can help
me during next season. After the basketball season ended, our head coach called us all to the gym, and
began telling us it was time for a new sport; Track and Field. she told us it was for the best of the best.
We went outside and got all of our times. Being inexperienced, I was wearing casual high top reeboks
that were extremely heavy. I did well. The next day, my friend encouraged me to try some old shoes
she had, emphasizing how light they were. The time we needed to make to be considered for the team
was 15 seconds on the 100m (keep

Intermolecular Forces Essay
Intermolecular forces are the attractive and/or repulsive forces among independent particles, such as
molecules, atoms, or ions, within a sample of matter. These forces differ from chemical bonds, or
intramolecular forces, because chemical bonds exist between the atoms of a single molecule. For
example, intermolecular forces could be described as the forces that attract many water molecules
together, while chemical bonds refer to the bonds between the hydrogen and oxygen atoms of a single
water molecule. Chemical bonds are also generally more permanent and stronger than intermolecular
forces.
There are various types of intermolecular forces, all which differ in strength. These forces include: ion
ion forces, dipole dipole forces, ion dipole forces, ion induced dipole, dipole induced dipole, and
London dispersion forces. The amount of charge, how it is distributed, and how long a charge
distribution will last, all factor into how strong the intermolecular forces are. ... Show more content on

These forces attract ions rather strongly. In a pure ionic compound, we call these forces ionic bonds
and consider it to be an intramolecular force. In a mixture of substances, however, it is seen as an
intermolecular force since the ions are interacting without being bonded. Ion ion forces are repulsive if
they are cation cation or anion anion, and are attractive if they are cation anion. Charge and size
influence the strength of these forces. Small molecules with large charge magnitudes would have
stronger ion ion forces acting between them because these factors would allow for closer approach to

I. Introduction. Schindler’S List Begins In Kraków, Poland
I. Introduction Schindler s List begins in Kraków, Poland during World War II. At this time, the Nazi
Party was trying to cleanse the world of impure people including Jews and rounded up all of the
Jewish to make them work. In the movie, Oskar Schindler used Jews from the Kraków ghetto to staff
his factory instead of sending them to concentration camps. At first, he uses them only to make
money, using bribery in order to get workers. Eventually, he realizes he is saving them from harsh
treatment elsewhere and continues to make sure they don t get sent to Plaszów. At the end of the
movie, Schindler creates a list of all the Jews he can afford to buy, around 1,100, and starts a
munitions factory. The munitions they made did not work, so ... Show more content on

In the movie, Amon Goeth, the commandant of the Plaszów camp, sits on his balcony and shoots Jews
with no reason to. During one of the early scenes, a young girl yells, Bye Jews, bye Jews! as the
Jewish are rounded up into the Kraków ghetto, showing that the hatred of the Jewish is learned and
accepted by both young and old. One person can convince many others that their way is the right way
and the only way.
Another important point is that one person can change the world. It is really important to the film
because Schindler was just one man and he alone, with some help from Stern, saved so many lives. He
could have saved one life and still made a difference, but he gave over one thousand people another
chance to live. Each life he saved is a life not lost to the horrors of the Holocaust. He did all he could
possibly do and still didn t think it was enough. During one scene in the movie, a young Nazi boy
finds a girl he knows and her mother. He tells them to come with him and he ll put them in the good
line. Even though he had to follow orders, he still tried to help them. Sometimes it only takes one
person to change another s life for the better.
III. Importance of the Film
Schindler s List is based on the true story of Oskar Schindler. It is brutally honest and gives viewers an
important insight on what actually occurred during the Holocaust. Every time I watch a movie or

The Missing Statues
This short story was written by the British American writer Simon Van Booy and was published in the
collection Love begins in Winter in 2009. As one of the five tales written in the collection, the author
brings out the emotions to the surface with symbolic meanings and deeper psychology thoughts as
they are presented alongside the characters in these short stories. In The Missing Statues , we have a
main protagonist whose story we follow from the beginning towards the end.
This story is about an American diplomat who collapses onto a bench near St. Peter s Square. He has
seen something that remains him of his childhood and because of the memory, he starts sobbing. A

When the writer decides to write about a certain place in the story, there is always a deeper meaning to
it. As for our main character Max, it is not randomly that he is in Rome by the St. Peter s Square. It is
particularly the place, where there is a missing statue and this makes him depressed. Paradoxically, the
place is also being described as a joyful place where lots of people spend their time during various
things;

taking photographs, feeding babies, birds, and the occasional vagrant who wandered in quietly from

C.perfringens is a large obligate anaerobic, gram positive, endospore forming, and motile rod shaped.
History:
Clostridium is one of the most common food poisoning in the USA. Also it used the less time for
regeneration or multiplication of endospores.
Virulence factors of the causative agent:
Strains of C.perfringens form enterotoxins that induce infection in the host cell.

Virulence factors of the causative agent:
C. perfringens can growth in the death cells providing nutrients for sporulation. Because C.perfringens
is anaerobe it ferment carbohydrates in the dead cells and produce carbon dioxide and hydrogen. This
is an exotoxin bacteria and can intoxicate muscle tissue until invade the bloodstream causing dead.
Mode of transmission
C.perfrringens can be found in soil, animals feces, and can be active in wound or intestinal human

The Success Of Accuracy And Efficiency Of Neuromorphic...
The success of accuracy and efficiency of neuromorphic architectures led to the the advent of more
applications that demanded even more work in this field.Advancement at architecture level and state
of the art in silicon neural processing began in the early 1980 s when Carver Mead, widely regarded as
the father of neuromorphic computing, wrote the book Analog VLSI and Neural Systems. . The
following sections of the paper provide a comprehensive survey of the prior art discussing the current
trends in neuromorphic chips.
A. Device Technology and Neuron Architecture
Developments in electronic devices is trending towards lesser area and more functionality. This trend
has been driven by Moore s Law (*?) [1965_Moore] which states that transistor density will double
every 18 months and as it is evident from roadmap of semiconductor technology that this law has
reached its bottleneck[3].So when scaling in terms of dimensions and voltage was no longer and
effective alternative we enter into the More than Moore regime that involves exploring other
alternative strategies for improving efficiency and transistor density and neuromorphic architectures is
one of them. Digital neurons are able to have high throughput, consume less power, and increase the
density, which make a compelling argument for their future.Analog neuron don t affect scaling yet
they still have a seat at the table when it comes to neuromorphic architectures. Authors demonstrated a

Similarities Between The Simpsons And Family Guy
We ve all seen these adult animated sitcoms, or at least heard about them. But when you think of the
legends in this category you need look no further than Matt Groening s classic The Simpsons, or the
more recent twist Family Guy created by Seth Macfarlane. The Simpsons and Family Guy are
American comical cartoons that share many similarities and differences. Although the two shows
portray a dysfunctional American family and have a similar way of delivering humor, they both
contrast in their targeted audience and characters.
The first and most noticeable resemblance is that The Simpsons and Family Guy s humor can be
indistinguishable in many ways. One of them being their sarcastic way of portraying pop culture,
politics, and ethnic or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, The Simpsons humor is family oriented and aims to target different generations. For instance,
hidden insults and crude jokes that only older generations would understand is not included in the
show. Also, the Simpsons includes cultural references that most of the present generations would
comprehend, which means that The Simpsons don t include too much current pop culture and media
related that older generations won t recognize. And even with the adult orientated content, the show is
suitable for the whole family to watch, even the young ones, though they won t grasp some of the
political and cultural jokes mentioned in the show.
Family Guy on the other hand does not target the whole family but the younger generations of
teenagers and young adults. Which is due to the use of crude jokes and blue humor. Also, Family Guy
uses current problems of the government, pop culture and the media. And just exploit them with irony
and sarcasm. What really captured my attention is how the show became darker, more violent and
mean spirited in recent seasons, which seems like a desperate try to attract more childish teenagers to

Evaluation Of A Chemical Substance
Spectrophotometry is an analytical method that measures how much a chemical substance is able to
absorb light by measuring the light s intensity as it passes through a specified sample.3 Given certain
wavelengths, the amount of a certain substance in a solution can be determined. The device used to
measure these properties is called a spectrophotometer. This device consists of a spectrometer that
produces light of any color (wavelength), and a photometer which measures the intensity of the light.2
In this experiment serial dilutions will be performed and from this, calibration curves will be
produced. New solutions will be created from these dilutions and each new concentration will be
found by using the concentration and volume formula ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Four solutions with different concentrations were created with the B4 solution containing 10mL. The
C1V1=C2V2 formula was utilized again to calculate the new concentrations and the corresponding
values were recorded. Eight standard solutions were tested using a cuvette and a spectrophotometer.
Two spectra were ultimately saved, one for the Red 40 and one for the Blue 1. 3mL of a standard
solution was added to a cuvette and was prepared for data collection. Enough solution was added to
obtain viable results. The cuvette was placed in the SpectroVis accordingly. The absorbance of the
sample was recorded from 380 900nm, and the wavelength of maximum absorbency was determined
along with the absorbance at the λmax. These steps were repeated to determine the λmax and
absorbance for each of the eight standard solutions. The results were recorded and the spectrum was
saved. Part C was performed using prepared drink samples of Kool AidTM. The absorbance of each
sample was determined at the two average λmax wavelengths that were previously found in Part B.
The recorded absorbencies were made sure to fall in the respective absorbance values of the standard
solutions.
RESULTS DISCUSSION
In this experiment, the concepts of serial dilutions and the absorbency of light were explored and
analyzed. Calibration curves were also used that consisted of the λmax and absorbances of standards.
In addition, spectrophotometry was used to determine the concentrations of

Social And Cultural Factors Of Society And Culture
Society and culture play an important role in affecting the health and well being of individuals or a
community. The social and cultural factors that determine the health in a society or a culture are
income, education, social wealth, occupation, societal support, community structure, accessibility of
health services, structural inequality, attitude, cultural beliefs, and legal channels. These factors are
linked to produce a disproportionate burden or risk of death, disease, disability and ill health on a
particular population or group known as health disparities. Health disparities are induced through a
process known as social stratification, which is when individuals in a society are divided into
subgroups base on attributes that are considered important by society such as sex, income, race, and
education. Stratification is responsible for formalizing inequality in the way of unequal access to
valuable resources, such as education, health care, dental care, and housing. The United States is a
country that values good dental health but not everybody have access to oral health care in reasonable
way because of social disparities and social stratification. However, since the Surgeon General
highlighted oral health as a major component of general health and well being, there have been many
initiatives taken by the government bodies, the private sector, and community organizations to help
lessen or eliminate social disparities, and make sure dental care is provided to all

The second leading cause of death related to cancer in the United States is colorectal cancer. The VA

Finding ways to enhance the practice or patient care should remain a priority. The simple task of
revising the colonoscopy instruction sheets will not only benefit the patient, it also benefits the staff
and organization. The procedure room is set up before each patient arrives and when the procedure is
aborted or rescheduled due to an inadequate prep, supplies are wasted. This also leaves the staff sitting
around waiting for the next scheduled patient. The blame for the backlog has been placed on the VA
medical center, however, those who are non compliant or continuously cancels are not held
accountable. There should be no excuse involving the instruction sheets once revised. The patient
should leave the hospital feeling educated and ready to be compliant with the regimen. The VA
medical center is making every effort to help the veterans receive the necessary care and revising the
instruction sheets is a problem in the GI lab that needed addressing. References

Example Of Counterfactual Thinking
According to Byrne, Epstude, Roese and Roese as cited in Roesse and Morisson (2009),
counterfactual thoughts pertains to mental representations which are explicitly different to facts or
beliefs. The term counterfactual represents a concurrence against reality and actuality. Usually,
negative or strange situations activate counterfactual thinking processes. In addition, the form of
counterfactual thoughts is similar to conditional statements which comprises of two aspects:
antecedent and consequent. The antecedent involves the action as well as decision of a person whereas
the consequent provides a description of a state of being and usually structured in evaluative
conditions. There are two outcomes which can be the focus of counterfactuals: alternative
consequences which are better than reality known as upward counterfactuals and alternative results
that are not as good as the actuality called downward counterfactuals (Roesee and Morisson, 2009).
Numerous studies and researches demonstrated the negative outcomes of counterfactual thinking.

Competency Should Not Be Legal
In the United States our legal system makes it a priority that every individual is given a fair trial and
that their due process is never violated. Issues such as competency can affect the course of a trial and
make a trial more difficult to get through. Competency can extend a trial and make it more complex. It
is the job of a mental health professional to assess competency and deliver their findings to the judge
for further action. Competency is a very large part of our judicial system because without it, an
individual cannot have a fair trial.
As defined by Cornell Law, mental incompetency is an individual who is mentally incompetent
because of injury or disease; they lack the mental capacity to contract or to manage his or her own
affairs, including disbursement of funds without limitation (Cornell Law, n.d.). In order to determine
an individual s mental incompetence, an evaluation by a mental health professional must take place.
Throughout the course of legal proceedings competency is very important. Without competency,
proceedings cannot continue, because without competency, due process would be violated. In the legal
system competency can be part of waiving Miranda, competency to stand trial, waiving counsel
(proceed pro se), being sentenced and being executed. Many court cases have raised the issue of
competency throughout history and changed the way that we conduct our legal system, to this day.

Cultural Impact Of Globalization
Globalization is the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views,
products, ideas and other aspects of culture. To better understand globalization and how it can impact
someone in different ways, I interviewed two people. The first person I interviewed is Jane Beamon.
Jane is the General Manager of Off Highway Business for Cummins Emission Solutions. Cummins
Inc is a global power leader that designs, manufactures, distributes and services diesel and natural gas
engines and engine related component products, including filtration, after treatment, turbochargers,
fuel systems, controls systems, air handling systems and electric power generation systems (2017).
Cummins is also a leader when it comes to globalization and how it can play a role in the success of a
company. When asked how globalization has impacted her community, Jane was very supportive of
globalization. What makes America great is the merging of different cultures and the many benefits
that are a direct result of that merging. When asked to clarify, Jane stated: the rise and popularity of
cultural festivals and events yearly is confirmation that Indianapolis has embraced other cultures.
When it comes to businesses that are present here, Indianapolis is a melting pot of franchises as well
as locally owned ventures. Take Ikea for instance; most people are not aware that it originated in

The Effectiveness of the International Criminal Court Essay
There is a close relationship between human rights and criminal law. The scope of my paper will
surround human rights and the International Criminal Court (ICC) in addition to human rights and
international crimes. International criminal justice in this context speaks to those interested in
prosecuting against the background of international human rights and humanitarian norms. The use of
criminal law has many positive effects and pursues many goals that are worth considering. For
example, deterrence, accountability and punishment are important principles that will be discussed in
the context of human rights. Is the International Criminal Court an effective method to promote and
protect human rights internationally? If so, why and how? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To support my argument, I will first discuss the evolution of international criminal justice and the ICC.
Then I will address my three subsidiary arguments. First, I will argue that the International Criminal
Court is effective because it increases accountability of human rights violators. Secondly, I will argue
that the existence and use of the court increases disapproval and deterrence which protects human
rights making the ICC effective. Third, I will argue that the International Criminal Court is effective
because it allows for a universal standard of acceptable and unacceptable behaviour as well as
transcends and empowers national jurisdictions. Finally, I will address the counter argument and
conclude.
The Evolution of International Criminal Justice and the ICC
The evolution of international criminal justice is important to consider. Two ad hoc tribunals, the
International Criminal Tribunal of Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the International Criminal Tribunal of
Rwanda (ICTR), have facilitated the adoption of the ICC. The ICC came into existence on July 1,
2002. The court operates on the principle of complementarity which means that the court does not
function unless a state in question is unable or unwilling to investigate and, if warranted, prosecute for
one of the covered crimes. Whereas the ICTY and the ICTR had primary jurisdiction and could
supersede state action, the ICC only has the aforementioned

The Four Noble Truths
Buddhism first appeared in India between the 5th and 6th BCE and is considered to be one of the
oldest practiced religion and philosophy. It is a way of life that is governed by a series of passages and
countless rules. These passages and rules are meant to enable an individual to further their growth as
an agent of transformations to reach the ultimate goal of enlightenment. Though Buddhism, as its
original form, is a strict and non peruvious practice of life, it provides of practical outlook on life and
how one should be with their environment. The first teaching or the first Dharma, dictated by

the realization that life itself is suffering. Dukkha is death, decay, grief, destruction and despair. It
comprises of the imbalances of life, attachments, and the disturbances of life that cause disharmony. It
is quite difficult to accept dukkha as truth because the human mind is fragile and isn t capable of
accepting the disturbing or upsetting. The human mind is only capable of simplifying life s
complexities and ignoring what may be traumatizing. Life is only blissful when one dilutes themselves
with false pretenses of happiness and lives in ignorance. One only needs to open their eyes to see that
dukkha exists and is abundantly all around us. No one in the human race has ever existed only to live a
life of blissfulness void of death, grief, sadness, or despair. Even supposing that there was an
individual born into a life of of happiness it doesn t change the fact that they live in this world. A
world where social communication is inevitable and consequently causes human to meet others that
are less fortunate or live lives of destitute or unhappiness. Therefore the man that lives in the world of

The Shootings Of Mass Shootings
Since 1982 there has been at least 85 mass shootings in the US, since the year 2006 there has been 48
alone. The first mass shooting was on September 5th, 1949 in a neighborhood and the killer was
Howard Unruh killing 13 people including 3 children. In the recent mass shootings there has been the
Pulse nightclub in Orlando Florida on June 12, 2016 and the shooting in Las Vegas that happened last
week. Between these two mass shootings they are ranked the most deadliest mass shootings in US
history, with Orlando killing 49 and wounding 58 and Las Vegas killing 58 and wounding 489. The
mind behind the Orlando Shooting was Omar Matten. He was 29 years old when he decided to open
fire on the nightclub. Omar was born in Queens, New York but later moved to Florida. He had trouble
in school and often got into fights, which later on got him arrested. ISIS took responsibility for Omar s
killing claiming to be gay hatred. While In the Las Vegas shooting the mind behind that was Stephen

Arabic Language As A Language
Irfan Rifai is a name adopted from Arabic language that means wisdom and noble respectively. My
father told me that the name given to me because he wanted me to grow up being a wise and a noble
man. Well, I hope that I have not disappointed him. Arabic does not function as a second language in
Indonesia, but being predominantly populated by Muslims, Arabic is taught in the early age for the
purposes of praying and reading the holy Quran. Unless we have enrolled in Islamic boarding school,
Arabic language has not generally been taught or used for communication sake.
I learned Arabic literacy at the same time that I learned to read and write in my first language. As a
kid, I spent my time studying at formal school from 7 am to 12 pm and had informal school where I
learned Arabic literacy afterward until 4 pm. With such a busy schedule of schooling, I still wonder
what went wrong that I was only capable of reading both in Arabic and Indonesian fluently only when
I was at my 2nd grade of school. Was it that I was too young to enter elementary school? I was
registered at elementary school when I was only 5 years old because there was no kindergarten at the
time and place where I lived as a young boy. Was it the methods that my teacher used or was it that I
did not have enough exposures to prints or reading habits in the family?
I have an illiterate mother and a father who had to drop school at the age of 14. My father was always
busy working and my mother simply did not

Argumentative Essay On Safe Driving
Overall, this new law does reflect the values of society and addresses the changing concerns over safe
driving in the era of smartphones, although driver reactions were mixed. To accurately measure usage
and the societal mood on this issue, the National Road Safety Council (NRSC) conducted a series of
five surveys before the law was introduced. The last four surveys (2008 2011) included a question
measuring community attitudes in relation to the (then hypothetical) introduction of a new law
banning the use of hands free mobile phones while driving. This hypothetical law attracted 39%
community support. This was largely because: People clearly believed that their chances of having an
accident would increase if they were using a mobile phone while driving. The NRSC survey results
show that the overwhelming majority (85% of respondents) believed this to be the case, as this pie
chart indicates: Public Opinion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Companies such as the NRMA conducted surveys in 2005 and 2010, that recommended law reforms
as part of a combined strategy with driver education and awareness. However, there was a
significantly higher proportion of respondents opposed to such a law (46%) than in favour of it, as
illustrated in the graph below: Public support of a hypothetical new law banning the use hands free
mobile phone while driving. Source: NRSA Survey December 2011 Opponents of the new law argued
that it is too extreme and strict. Commercial drivers, such a truck, bus and taxi drivers, felt that it
would restrict their ability to do their jobs efficiently, as they could no longer answer calls or text
while stopped at traffic lights. Some claimed that it was a way for police to boost state revenue from
traffic fines at the expense of individual

Benefits of Virtual Teams
Virtual teams today are an important part of business, particularly where the business expands
globally. Although there are particular challenges associated with virtual teams, such as
communication technology, cultural concerns, and potential conflict resulting from these issues, the
advantages associated with these far outweigh the disadvantages. Virtual teams have the potential to
maintain the integrity and unity of the business venture on a global level at a paradigm that has never
before been possible. When a company wishes to expand to a new country, especially one that is
significantly different in culture and practice from the United States, virtual teams, if well chosen, can
significantly facilitate the process. When making a decision to expand to Poland, for example, virtual
teams can help to identify potential markets, potentially challenging cultural differences, recruit tem
members in the target country, and assess the potential for success. Poland is a country that has several
potential markets for expansion. The country is rich in natural mineral resources, for example (Europa,
2011). These include iron, zinc, copper, and rock salt. Any of these resources can then be used as a
basis for a new business expansion. Salt, for example, can even be used in art. Another important
component of the foreign market is its labor force. According to Walewski (2011), there is a relatively
high demand for legal employment as well as a highly energetic commitment to

Overview Between Phonetics And Phonology
At the very beginning, I want to sheds the light on the definition of both Phonetics and Phonology.
Phonetics is considered the study of sounds of any language, it relates to the mechanism of how
sounds are produced and the way of speech sounds production. Phonology studies how those sounds
are put together to create meaning. It studies the rules of language that govern how those phonemes
are combined to create meaningful words. Hereunder detailed features of each branch of linguistics
are explained.
On one hand, Phonetics is talking about the physical aspect of sounds; it studies the production and
the perception of sounds, called phones. Phonetics is the term for the description and classification of
speech sounds. Sounds within phonetics are divided into vowels and consonants. Vowels are
embodied in the letters (i e o a u). Whereas, consonants letters are embodied in the rest set of English
language alphabets. Vowels and consonants describe the articulation of English language. Whereas
there is another branch of phonetics called Acoustic phonetics that is related to the study of how the
sounds are transmitted, in other words the journey of sound from the mouth of the speaker tills the ear
of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the combinations of these sources are present. There are different examples of sounds that
are generated with each of these source categories are seen in the word shop, where the sh o and p are
generated from a noisy, periodic, and impulsive source. The reader should speak the word shop slowly
and determine where each sound source is occurring, i.e., at the larynx or at a constriction within the
vocal tract. There is difference between phonemes and allophones. A phoneme, is the smallest
contrastive unit in the sound system of a certain language. A phoneme is the smallest part of an
utterance that cannot be changed if we want to retain the meaning. For

Compare Contrast on Poems.
Whoso List to Hunt by Sir Thomas Wyatt and Sonnet 67 by Edmund Spenser are sonnets that are very
similar at a first glance, but delving deeper, a difference can be found. Both of these sonnets use
imagery and figures of speech relating to the hunt of an unobtainable woman as well as that central
theme. Through a deeper analysis it is revealed that these two authors have a different interpretation of
this failed hunt. A comparison and contrast of Whoso List to Hunt and Sonnet 67 reveals that they are
very similar through the analysis of their imagery and theme, but a look at the tone, reveals a different
view on the problems faced in by these two speakers. Whoso List to Hunt shows an unobtainable
woman represented as a deer, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As he describes these escapades, he says The vain travail hath wearied me so sore (Wyatt, 3). This
reinforces the theme by showing how much long he has been fighting to get her. Later on, the narrator
is once again lamenting his impossible quest: Since in a net I seek to hold the wind (Wyatt, 8). By
giving us this statement, it shows how fruitless the speaker s hopes are. This theme is also prominent
in Spenser s Sonnet 67 . As the narrator describes his love life he says, Seeing the game from him
escaped away (Spenser, 2) showing how unobtainable this woman truly is. Later on the speaker
supports the theme again, by saying So, after long pursuit and vain assay (Spenser, 5). On the speaker
s journey, he has attempted to get his girl, but each time it never works. These two poems are quite
similar as they both have the same theme. Even though they seem to almost be the same poem, there is
one big difference within the poems. The two poems have a very different tone, with Wyatt s being
much more clingy and stubborn, while Spenser s being more contemplative and realistic. In Whoso
List to Hunt the narrator is much clingier: Fainting I follow (Wyatt, 7). Even though this woman will
never take him in, he still pushes on and refuses to let go. Similarly, he supports this by saying, Yet by
no means my wearied mind/Draw from the deer (Wyatt, 5 6). The narrator has obviously been trying
to court her for awhile and even though

Trends And Patterns Of Asian North American
Trends and Patterns in Asian North American Representation in Hollywood Momo S. Tanaka
University of Saskatchewan Trends and Patterns in Asian North American Representation in
Hollywood I saw the highly promoted movie adaptation of The Hunger Games in spring of 2012, and
I left the theatre wondering one thing: where were all the Asians? This is not an uncommon
occurrence: as a second generation Japanese Canadian, I have grown up surrounded by American and
Canadian media that lacks representation of Asians to the point that seeing an Asian on my television

Stereotypes like these are often utilized in representation. All types of media movies, television shows,
advertising, and the like use representations to express reality (Viruega, 2011, p. 3). To paraphrase
Benshoff Griffin and Taylor Willis, representation is a the process of combining signs to present an
image of complex abstract concepts to communicate a story. In other words, representation is involved
in the communication and the determination of meaning and interpretation. Media uses representation
and becomes an extremely influential element of the creation, acceptance, and perpetuation of
stereotypes around Asians (as well as all other ethnic groups). According to cognitive transactional
model of media priming repeated exposure to media stereotypes makes the stereotypes highly
automatic, requiring little cognitive effort (Zhang, 2010, p. 22), and this influences media consumers
judgments and actions in interactions with Asians (Zhang, 2010). Because American media is
extremely prevalent in Canada, as a consequence of globalization, cognitive transactional model of
media priming dictates that the reinforcement of racial stereotypes and views through representation
has become very similar

The Effects Of Leptin On Other Human Obese Gene Located On...
Leptin is a protein containing 166 amino acids and is the product of human obese gene located on
chromosome 7q31.3. Leptin is produced mainly by adipose tissue. It is also synthesized in small
amounts in other human tissues such as the stomach, heart, mammary epithelium , placenta, ovaries,
skeletal muscle, pituitary, and liver (Muoio et al., 2002).
After leptin is secreted by the adipose tissue, it enters the brain through the bloodstream. Gastric leptin
may also reach hypothalamus through the vagal nerve and nucleus solitarius. Effects of leptin on
various systems have been reported, including reproduction, immune system, hematopoesis,
angiogenesis, bone formation and wound healing. It plays an important role in energy balance by
inhibiting energy intake contrary to ghrelin, and by regulating body weight and energy homeostasis
(Moran Phillip, 2003).
The expression of leptin by adipose tissue is also influenced by feeding behaviour. Short term (12 h)
or long term (2 or 8 weeks) overfeeding results in an increase in adipocyte leptin expression and
circulating leptin in healthy human subjects. Furthermore, circulating leptin levels show a diurnal
pattern and are influenced by gender, age, exercise and glucose uptake (Table 3).
Table 3: Factors affecting the circulating leptin levels:
Factor Effect

The Call for the Gaelic League Essay
The Call for the Gaelic League
What would the United States be like if Americans couldn t practice their customs, culture, or even
appreciate their heritage? Granted the United States is a melting pot for several ethnicities, but some
native countries and cultures have faced this type of dilemma. The Spanish influence on the Aztecs
and the English on Native Americans are two examples of this imperialistic move. If only these
cultures had a strong network of men and women who devoted their lives towards keeping their
culture and history alive for future generations. The Gaelic League was based upon this definition.
Bringing together a network of Irish speaking teachers, priests, and writers, the Gaelic League taught

The congestion led to the activation of the Irish Poor laws in 1838 by Great Britain s Queen Victoria.
These laws were enforced in an attempt to promote emigration to areas like the United States and
Australia. All the outcomes of the Famine were not necessarily negative. One such incentive was
modernization. According to Garvin, Ireland has been a modernizing society since the Famine, and the
tragedy of the Famine was itself the occasion of a great modernizing change (469). The demand for an
institution of education was in order.
To answer the demand would eventually lead to, The Gaelic League, the dominant institution of the
third revival, (Hutchinson 484) with the second revival being the Irish Protestant/ Catholic liberation
of 1829. With the loss of so many people, religion became a large part of the community. Such a
devastating event left the Irish vulnerable to outside influences, especially the British. A powerful
nation could easily push its culture, society, and government on a weak country like Ireland in the mid
to late 1800s. To counter the British, religion took on a stronghold on Irish living. The Catholic
Church, through the work of dedicated priests throughout the southern regions of Ireland, grew in
popularity and even united small rural towns. This action rebuilt trust in communities and aided the
most devastated of areas. The major Christian groups, Irish Protestants and Catholics, would be
among the

Importance Of Cultural Awareness In The Philippines
Life is a very complex thing. Throughout time we have seen the evolution of the human race. During
that time people have had to adapt to their environment in order to survive. This eventually gave birth
to the many customs and diversities we see today. As the children of these generations we tend to take
this for granted. Since some cultures have evolved faster than others, we tend to forget the hardships
our predecessors worked so hard to achieve. This is where understanding what culture awareness
comes into play. If a person wants to truly honor their culture, they will constantly practice it. Respect
should be the number one priority in every culture. People should be able to give their opinion,
however it should never be given in an offensive manner. This is why cultural awareness is a huge
deal within our world. No matter where one is, generations and sacrifice created the regions we know
today. One of those regions that catches my attention is the Philippines. The terrain of the Philippines
is very interesting to say the least. These islands are part of the Pacific Ring of Fire which gives them
the origin of being mountainous and volcanic. The land of the islands are mainly composed of swift
running streams and very coastal plains. Even though the islands contain many rivers and plains, a few
of them are large and very difficult to navigate. The archipelago of the islands includes over 7000
island and the land has an area of 300,780 km² (Maelstorm,

The Impact Of Workplace On The Workplace
Business owners and leaders of all management levels usually agree on one thing, a constant demand
to keep others in the work environment motivated and productive. Workplace productivity is a term
referring to how much work is accomplished in a work environment and how efficiently workers
complete tasks at their workplaces. Finding ways to increase workplace productivity is a task that can
be frustrating and time consuming. The ability to motivate and get employees to work efficiently in
order to increase productivity is critical to a company s success. A company s success is generated

If production needs aren t met the goals of the company is negatively affected. A decrease in
production will cause a company to lose profits and the company s stability. The manager must take
steps to utilize the most productive ways to complete the tasks asked of them. A relationship with
upper management needs to be built and maintained for a positive and productive workplace. It takes
all employees working together as a team to build a strong and financially stable company. Companies
often brainstorm and discuss employee effectiveness and efficiency when trying to improve business
and productivity. These meetings given an opportunity for all levels of management to give input on
how to be more productive. These meetings also stratagize on how employees are able to be more
effective. An effective employee produces at a high level, while an efficient employee produces
quickly and intelligently.(smallbusiness) Inadequate procedures also so play a lack in production.
When a company uses outdated and inefficient methods to carry out its desired goals, its productivity
significantly decreases. Finding modern ways to complete task benefit both the employee and the
company. Companies can increase their productivity by streamlining and automating processes to
decrease the work needed to

Nietzsche s Philosophy On Personal Life And Education
Friedrich Nietzsche was a German, writer, poet, thinker and philopher. He was renowned for his ideas
on the end of religion, existentialism and the concept of good and evil. Nietzsche focused essentially
on the end of religion. He once declared that God is dead , a statement that decidedly defied
Christianity as well as morality. According to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, he was rapt in
the development of individual and cultural health, and believed in life, creativity, power, and down to
earth realities, rather than those situated in a world beyond . Nietzsche s work inspired the likes of
famed psychologist such as Sigmund Freud as well as other philosophers. Although most of his ideas
opposed what other philosophers such as Plato, Immanuel Kant and John Stuart Mills have taught us,
his theories on metaphysics, ethics, and politics may very well have independently shape society has it
is today.
Personal Life and Education
Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche was born on October 15, 1844 in Röcken Germany. He was raised as a
Lutheran where his father served as a pastor. However, in later years, Nietzsche developed a certain
disregard for the church and abandon Christianity all together, thus proclaiming God is dead. The
death of his father and younger brother proved rather distressing for young Nietzsche who was the
only male in a household filled with women. He attended prestigious boarding school where he
proved his capabilities in the classics, literature and

and/or share value enhancement. Under a secondary relationship, the shareholders may also act as a
creditor, supplier, customer, employee, or lessor to the corporation. They can, therefore, loan money to
the company in exchange for interest, lease property to the company in exchange for rent, provide
services in exchange for salary and so on. R11 3. The following factors may influence the value of a

  • 2. Love In Love, My Love For Basketball Hello, my name is Tamara, and I m in love with this sport. I m 18 years old, a senior in high school. I m a sprinter in the 100 200m 400m events. It may not be much, but I just thought I d share my story and my dreams simply because I enjoy doing so. It all started in eighth grade, I was 15. I never had any experience with sports whatsoever except for basketball earlier that year, and honestly had no idea what I was doing. I felt I had no physical ability and had low self esteem when it came to my athletic ability. I was 4 6 and still managed to get on picked for the team for basketball, though probably being one of the shortest people in the group. Basketball has been a sport I ve always liked, and realizing how hard it really was to actually play was a hard pill for me to swallow. During the period of the season, I spent the time in basketball off season to practice on what needed to know and what can help me during next season. After the basketball season ended, our head coach called us all to the gym, and began telling us it was time for a new sport; Track and Field. she told us it was for the best of the best. We went outside and got all of our times. Being inexperienced, I was wearing casual high top reeboks that were extremely heavy. I did well. The next day, my friend encouraged me to try some old shoes she had, emphasizing how light they were. The time we needed to make to be considered for the team was 15 seconds on the 100m (keep ... • 3. Intermolecular Forces Essay Intermolecular forces are the attractive and/or repulsive forces among independent particles, such as molecules, atoms, or ions, within a sample of matter. These forces differ from chemical bonds, or intramolecular forces, because chemical bonds exist between the atoms of a single molecule. For example, intermolecular forces could be described as the forces that attract many water molecules together, while chemical bonds refer to the bonds between the hydrogen and oxygen atoms of a single water molecule. Chemical bonds are also generally more permanent and stronger than intermolecular forces. There are various types of intermolecular forces, all which differ in strength. These forces include: ion ion forces, dipole dipole forces, ion dipole forces, ion induced dipole, dipole induced dipole, and London dispersion forces. The amount of charge, how it is distributed, and how long a charge distribution will last, all factor into how strong the intermolecular forces are. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These forces attract ions rather strongly. In a pure ionic compound, we call these forces ionic bonds and consider it to be an intramolecular force. In a mixture of substances, however, it is seen as an intermolecular force since the ions are interacting without being bonded. Ion ion forces are repulsive if they are cation cation or anion anion, and are attractive if they are cation anion. Charge and size influence the strength of these forces. Small molecules with large charge magnitudes would have stronger ion ion forces acting between them because these factors would allow for closer approach to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. I. Introduction. Schindler’S List Begins In Kraków, Poland I. Introduction Schindler s List begins in Kraków, Poland during World War II. At this time, the Nazi Party was trying to cleanse the world of impure people including Jews and rounded up all of the Jewish to make them work. In the movie, Oskar Schindler used Jews from the Kraków ghetto to staff his factory instead of sending them to concentration camps. At first, he uses them only to make money, using bribery in order to get workers. Eventually, he realizes he is saving them from harsh treatment elsewhere and continues to make sure they don t get sent to Plaszów. At the end of the movie, Schindler creates a list of all the Jews he can afford to buy, around 1,100, and starts a munitions factory. The munitions they made did not work, so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the movie, Amon Goeth, the commandant of the Plaszów camp, sits on his balcony and shoots Jews with no reason to. During one of the early scenes, a young girl yells, Bye Jews, bye Jews! as the Jewish are rounded up into the Kraków ghetto, showing that the hatred of the Jewish is learned and accepted by both young and old. One person can convince many others that their way is the right way and the only way. Another important point is that one person can change the world. It is really important to the film because Schindler was just one man and he alone, with some help from Stern, saved so many lives. He could have saved one life and still made a difference, but he gave over one thousand people another chance to live. Each life he saved is a life not lost to the horrors of the Holocaust. He did all he could possibly do and still didn t think it was enough. During one scene in the movie, a young Nazi boy finds a girl he knows and her mother. He tells them to come with him and he ll put them in the good line. Even though he had to follow orders, he still tried to help them. Sometimes it only takes one person to change another s life for the better. III. Importance of the Film Schindler s List is based on the true story of Oskar Schindler. It is brutally honest and gives viewers an important insight on what actually occurred during the Holocaust. Every time I watch a movie or video about the Holocaust, I ... As one of the five tales written in the collection, the author brings out the emotions to the surface with symbolic meanings and deeper psychology thoughts as they are presented alongside the characters in these short stories. In The Missing Statues , we have a main protagonist whose story we follow from the beginning towards the end. This story is about an American diplomat who collapses onto a bench near St. Peter s Square. He has seen something that remains him of his childhood and because of the memory, he starts sobbing. As for our main character Max, it is not randomly that he is in Rome by the St. Peter s Square. It is particularly the place, where there is a missing statue and this makes him depressed. Paradoxically, the place is also being described as a joyful place where lots of people spend their time during various things; (...) where its eyes had once fallen upon the people who milled about the square, eating sandwiches, taking photographs, feeding babies, birds, and the occasional vagrant who wandered in quietly from the river (page 2, paragraph 4). The success of accuracy and efficiency of neuromorphic architectures led to the the advent of more applications that demanded even more work in this field.Advancement at architecture level and state of the art in silicon neural processing began in the early 1980 s when Carver Mead, widely regarded as the father of neuromorphic computing, wrote the book Analog VLSI and Neural Systems. . The following sections of the paper provide a comprehensive survey of the prior art discussing the current trends in neuromorphic chips. A. Device Technology and Neuron Architecture Developments in electronic devices is trending towards lesser area and more functionality. This trend has been driven by Moore s Law (*?) [1965_Moore] which states that transistor density will double every 18 months and as it is evident from roadmap of semiconductor technology that this law has reached its bottleneck[3].So when scaling in terms of dimensions and voltage was no longer and effective alternative we enter into the More than Moore regime that involves exploring other alternative strategies for improving efficiency and transistor density and neuromorphic architectures is one of them. Digital neurons are able to have high throughput, consume less power, and increase the density, which make a compelling argument for their future.Analog neuron don t affect scaling yet they still have a seat at the table when it comes to neuromorphic architectures. But when you think of the legends in this category you need look no further than Matt Groening s classic The Simpsons, or the more recent twist Family Guy created by Seth Macfarlane. The Simpsons and Family Guy are American comical cartoons that share many similarities and differences. Although the two shows portray a dysfunctional American family and have a similar way of delivering humor, they both contrast in their targeted audience and characters. The first and most noticeable resemblance is that The Simpsons and Family Guy s humor can be indistinguishable in many ways. Firstly, The Simpsons humor is family oriented and aims to target different generations. For instance, hidden insults and crude jokes that only older generations would understand is not included in the show. Also, the Simpsons includes cultural references that most of the present generations would comprehend, which means that The Simpsons don t include too much current pop culture and media related that older generations won t recognize. And even with the adult orientated content, the show is suitable for the whole family to watch, even the young ones, though they won t grasp some of the political and cultural jokes mentioned in the show. Family Guy on the other hand does not target the whole family but the younger generations of teenagers and young adults. Which is due to the use of crude jokes and blue humor. Also, Family Guy uses current problems of the government, pop culture and the media. And just exploit them with irony and sarcasm. Evaluation Of A Chemical Substance Spectrophotometry is an analytical method that measures how much a chemical substance is able to absorb light by measuring the light s intensity as it passes through a specified sample.3 Given certain wavelengths, the amount of a certain substance in a solution can be determined. The device used to measure these properties is called a spectrophotometer. This device consists of a spectrometer that produces light of any color (wavelength), and a photometer which measures the intensity of the light.2 In this experiment serial dilutions will be performed and from this, calibration curves will be produced. Four solutions with different concentrations were created with the B4 solution containing 10mL. The C1V1=C2V2 formula was utilized again to calculate the new concentrations and the corresponding values were recorded. Eight standard solutions were tested using a cuvette and a spectrophotometer. Two spectra were ultimately saved, one for the Red 40 and one for the Blue 1. 3mL of a standard solution was added to a cuvette and was prepared for data collection. Enough solution was added to obtain viable results. The cuvette was placed in the SpectroVis accordingly. The absorbance of the sample was recorded from 380 900nm, and the wavelength of maximum absorbency was determined along with the absorbance at the λmax. These steps were repeated to determine the λmax and absorbance for each of the eight standard solutions. The results were recorded and the spectrum was saved. Part C was performed using prepared drink samples of Kool AidTM. The absorbance of each sample was determined at the two average λmax wavelengths that were previously found in Part B. The recorded absorbencies were made sure to fall in the respective absorbance values of the standard solutions. RESULTS DISCUSSION In this experiment, the concepts of serial dilutions and the absorbency of light were explored and analyzed. Calibration curves were also used that consisted of the λmax and absorbances of standards. In addition, spectrophotometry was used to determine the concentrations of ... • 14. Social And Cultural Factors Of Society And Culture Society and culture play an important role in affecting the health and well being of individuals or a community. The social and cultural factors that determine the health in a society or a culture are income, education, social wealth, occupation, societal support, community structure, accessibility of health services, structural inequality, attitude, cultural beliefs, and legal channels. These factors are linked to produce a disproportionate burden or risk of death, disease, disability and ill health on a particular population or group known as health disparities. Health disparities are induced through a process known as social stratification, which is when individuals in a society are divided into subgroups base on attributes that are considered important by society such as sex, income, race, and education. Stratification is responsible for formalizing inequality in the way of unequal access to valuable resources, such as education, health care, dental care, and housing. The United States is a country that values good dental health but not everybody have access to oral health care in reasonable way because of social disparities and social stratification. However, since the Surgeon General highlighted oral health as a major component of general health and well being, there have been many initiatives taken by the government bodies, the private sector, and community organizations to help lessen or eliminate social disparities, and make sure dental care is provided to all ... Finding ways to enhance the practice or patient care should remain a priority. The simple task of revising the colonoscopy instruction sheets will not only benefit the patient, it also benefits the staff and organization. The procedure room is set up before each patient arrives and when the procedure is aborted or rescheduled due to an inadequate prep, supplies are wasted. This also leaves the staff sitting around waiting for the next scheduled patient. The blame for the backlog has been placed on the VA medical center, however, those who are non compliant or continuously cancels are not held accountable. There should be no excuse involving the instruction sheets once revised. The patient should leave the hospital feeling educated and ready to be compliant with the regimen. • 17. Example Of Counterfactual Thinking According to Byrne, Epstude, Roese and Roese as cited in Roesse and Morisson (2009), counterfactual thoughts pertains to mental representations which are explicitly different to facts or beliefs. The term counterfactual represents a concurrence against reality and actuality. Usually, negative or strange situations activate counterfactual thinking processes. In addition, the form of counterfactual thoughts is similar to conditional statements which comprises of two aspects: antecedent and consequent. The antecedent involves the action as well as decision of a person whereas the consequent provides a description of a state of being and usually structured in evaluative conditions. There are two outcomes which can be the focus of counterfactuals: alternative consequences which are better than reality known as upward counterfactuals and alternative results that are not as good as the actuality called downward counterfactuals (Roesee and Morisson, 2009). • 19. Competency Should Not Be Legal In the United States our legal system makes it a priority that every individual is given a fair trial and that their due process is never violated. Issues such as competency can affect the course of a trial and make a trial more difficult to get through. Competency can extend a trial and make it more complex. It is the job of a mental health professional to assess competency and deliver their findings to the judge for further action. Competency is a very large part of our judicial system because without it, an individual cannot have a fair trial. As defined by Cornell Law, mental incompetency is an individual who is mentally incompetent because of injury or disease; they lack the mental capacity to contract or to manage his or her own affairs, including disbursement of funds without limitation (Cornell Law, n.d.). In order to determine an individual s mental incompetence, an evaluation by a mental health professional must take place. Throughout the course of legal proceedings competency is very important. Without competency, proceedings cannot continue, because without competency, due process would be violated. In the legal system competency can be part of waiving Miranda, competency to stand trial, waiving counsel (proceed pro se), being sentenced and being executed. Third, I will argue that the International Criminal Court is effective because it allows for a universal standard of acceptable and unacceptable behaviour as well as transcends and empowers national jurisdictions. Two ad hoc tribunals, the International Criminal Tribunal of Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the International Criminal Tribunal of Rwanda (ICTR), have facilitated the adoption of the ICC. Virtual teams have the potential to maintain the integrity and unity of the business venture on a global level at a paradigm that has never before been possible. When a company wishes to expand to a new country, especially one that is significantly different in culture and practice from the United States, virtual teams, if well chosen, can significantly facilitate the process. Phonetics is considered the study of sounds of any language, it relates to the mechanism of how sounds are produced and the way of speech sounds production. Phonology studies how those sounds are put together to create meaning. It studies the rules of language that govern how those phonemes are combined to create meaningful words. Hereunder detailed features of each branch of linguistics are explained. On one hand, Phonetics is talking about the physical aspect of sounds; it studies the production and the perception of sounds, called phones. Phonetics is the term for the description and classification of speech sounds. Sounds within phonetics are divided into vowels and consonants. Vowels are embodied in the letters (i e o a u). Whereas, consonants letters are embodied in the rest set of English language alphabets. Vowels and consonants describe the articulation of English language. Through a deeper analysis it is revealed that these two authors have a different interpretation of this failed hunt. A comparison and contrast of Whoso List to Hunt and Sonnet 67 reveals that they are very similar through the analysis of their imagery and theme, but a look at the tone, reveals a different view on the problems faced in by these two speakers. As he describes these escapades, he says The vain travail hath wearied me so sore (Wyatt, 3). This reinforces the theme by showing how much long he has been fighting to get her. Later on, the narrator is once again lamenting his impossible quest: Since in a net I seek to hold the wind (Wyatt, 8). By giving us this statement, it shows how fruitless the speaker s hopes are. This theme is also prominent in Spenser s Sonnet 67 . As the narrator describes his love life he says, Seeing the game from him escaped away (Spenser, 2) showing how unobtainable this woman truly is. Later on the speaker supports the theme again, by saying So, after long pursuit and vain assay (Spenser, 5). On the speaker s journey, he has attempted to get his girl, but each time it never works. These two poems are quite similar as they both have the same theme. Even though they seem to almost be the same poem, there is one big difference within the poems. The two poems have a very different tone, with Wyatt s being much more clingy and stubborn, while Spenser s being more contemplative and realistic. In Whoso List to Hunt the narrator is much clingier: Fainting I follow (Wyatt, 7). Even though this woman will never take him in, he still pushes on and refuses to let go. Leptin is produced mainly by adipose tissue. It is also synthesized in small amounts in other human tissues such as the stomach, heart, mammary epithelium , placenta, ovaries, skeletal muscle, pituitary, and liver (Muoio et al., 2002). After leptin is secreted by the adipose tissue, it enters the brain through the bloodstream. Gastric leptin may also reach hypothalamus through the vagal nerve and nucleus solitarius. Effects of leptin on various systems have been reported, including reproduction, immune system, hematopoesis, angiogenesis, bone formation and wound healing. It plays an important role in energy balance by inhibiting energy intake contrary to ghrelin, and by regulating body weight and energy homeostasis (Moran Phillip, 2003). The expression of leptin by adipose tissue is also influenced by feeding behaviour. Short term (12 h) or long term (2 or 8 weeks) overfeeding results in an increase in adipocyte leptin expression and circulating leptin in healthy human subjects.
