Thailand Research Paper
Thailand is located on the Indochina Peninsula and was named Thailand in 1939. It is 198,117 square
miles, about twice the size of Wyoming. Tree covered mountains cover the northern portion and the
southern portion is dense rainforest. The middle land is mostly flat farmland. The weather is mainly
hot and humid, only the mountains will get much cold weather, and it only experiences three seasons
spring, summer, and fall. Thailand has a population of 68,414,135 and almost half of that lives in rural
areas. Those who live in urban areas are commonly located in the largest city and capital, Bangkok.
The population is also approximately 95% Buddhist with a small amount of Muslim and Christian.

This group is called junta, which is defined as a military or political group that controls a country after
taking power by force. Since the NCPO has gained power by force, there are many people who dislike
the junta. Because of this, they have begun punishing news companies for speaking out against them.
If a media outlet releases commentaries that are negative towards the junta or the monarchy, they can
face intimidation, punishment and even closure. Despite this, many media companies refused to
comply and were temporarily forced off the air. They were then allowed to continue broadcasting as
long as they agreed to remove such commentaries. Not only has the NCPO tried to silence large media
companies, they have also been silencing civilians. There is currently a law in Thailand that bans
public assemblies with more than five people. This is to deter protests against the junta. They also
continue to stifle free speech with the Computer Related Crime Act (CCA). The CCA allows the junta
to arrest people for sharing their dissent

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Diversity In The United...
Not everyone in the United States have the same opportunities as others. This causes there to be
separate groups and organizations who have different advantages than the other groups. The
disadvantages that these other groups have can affects their lives drastically. Some of these advantages
and disadvantage are caused by privilege Privilege is the benefits you get from belonging to a certain
group. Being privileged could result in many advantages in life. Essentially if you were born a male
you have a better advantage than a woman would. Men has the luxury to get payed more than women
do and they don t have to worry about being raped by just walking down the street. Another advantage
of being privileged in being born white. Being born caucasian or African American isn t something
that you can control, however the opportunities they get sometimes are based upon the color of their
skin. In the past years, there has been an ongoing trend that haven t been changed. Caucasians have
been getting better jobs and better opportunities than people of color. There are certain jobs out there
today that mainly hire white males; this is because they re known to be superior and dominant in the
U.S. However not everyone seeing this issue because they are blinded by their privileges. Privileges
can be blinding for people who are privileged. If you have privilege you re often blinded by the
suffering of other people who don t have the same privilege that you do. Sometimes you aren t able

PICA
Life Span Psych
Sitting at the park on a marvelous day watching the kids play in the park, then it happens one kid starts
eating dirt. Wondering why he s doing it, and what s his motive? Intrigued, I go home and research the
symptoms and I come up with one word: Pica. But what exactly is Pica? Pica is a very rare disorders
with an interesting history, where signs and symptoms help diagnosis the treatments for it.
Pica is a disorder in which you have an appetite or weird craving for things that have no nutritional
value. There is no age limit for the disease; anyone can have Pica at any point in time. Pica can be
associated with mental and stress related disorders. Stress factors such as family issues, pregnancy, ...

Eating paint is most common among children who live in poverty. It is often related with those who
have very little to no parental supervision. Hunger also may result in pica. Which of an inability to tell
the difference between food and nonfood items has linked people with mental handicap to Pica. This
answer, however, is not supported by the examples of nonfood items that were consciously eaten by
people with limited mental gifts.
Pica can go unnoticed, and is usually only discovered when a health problem strikes. It can remain
undetected for months or even years. Very often pica is detected when an individual suffers from an
intestinal blockage, intestinal tear, dental injury, or a poisoning infection linked with eating non food
substances. Blood tests will usually be carried out during, to determine if a mineral shortage could be
the cause. Pica is diagnosed in individuals who have routinely eaten non food substances for at least a
month, for whom this behavior is inappropriate to their developmental stage. Those who do not
consume these substances as part of a recognized cultural or religious practice will fit into the
category. Only a qualified doctor should make a diagnosis of Pica. Laboratory studies may be used to
access these answers. The choice of imaging or laboratory studies depends on the characteristics of the
ingested materials and the resulting medical problems. In addition to people having pica some animals

Hummbert Love Lolita
I. Question/Issue Throughout the course of the novel, Nabokov mentions and references the theme of
love, specifically when he recalls on Humbert s feelings toward Lolita. As the narrator of the story,
Humbert uses love as a willful and tenacious justification for his pedophilic tendencies toward
nymphets like Lolita. As Lolita is only a young, undeveloped, and immature child, Humbert s desire
for Lolita is not only unreasonable and awkward, but also psychologically and physically obsessive;
he is unlike any other pedophile out here, as he experiences very little satisfaction after fondling ,
kissing , and groping Lolita. In every description and detail of Lolita throughout the novel, Humbert
reminds the readers of his obsessive affinities which he has absolutely no control over and the ones
that constantly keep him wanting to come back for more. As a large portion of the audience of this
novel find the book to have the basis of lust , and a fair amount of other readers believes it has the
basis of love , the question of whether or not Humbert truly loves Lolita comes into ... Show more

1. Although I told myself I was looking merely for a soothing presence, a glorified pot au feu, an
animated merkin, what really attracted me to Valeria was the imitation she gave of a little girl. She
gave it not because she had divined something about me; it was just her style and I fell for it. Actually,
she was at least in her late twenties (I never established her exact age for even her passport lied) and
had mislaid her virginity under circumstances that changed with her reminiscent moods (Chapter 8,

Context: After finding out that his Uncle in the United States had recently passed away and left him
some money to inherit, Humbert moves to America to start a new business life and describes his short
marriage with Valeria from 1935 to 1939. Although she is nearing her thirties, Valeria s appearance

A Second Argument Pro Life Advocates
A third argument pro life advocates have against abortion is regarding adoption. They believe that it is
better for a woman to give birth to her baby at term and give it up for adoption than it is to abort it.
They say that there are endless numbers of couples in the world that are not able to conceive or it is
not safe for the mother to have children, that would be more than happy to adopt. As good as adoption
is, the reality is that it can be very hard emotionally for the birth mother. Placing a child up for
adoption can be very traumatic. The birth and the surrendering of the child may prompt various phases
of grief including shock and denial, sorrow and depression, anger, guilt, and acceptance. Some women
may feel it is easier emotionally to terminate a pregnancy in the early weeks while it is only a small
bundle of fetal tissue. Going through a nine month pregnancy is a long and taxing process physically,
mentally, and emotionally. In another situation, a woman may feel terminating her pregnancy is better
than adoption if the father of the child has been abusive and wants to keep the baby. At that point, not
only does that put stress on the mother thinking about the future for her child, but also brings more
people into the decision, which can cause a lot of strain. Another issue facing adoption is the reality of
many babies being born with serious physical and mental handicaps. Many women abort their children
after finding out they have some sort of

Face Construct And Criterion-Related Validity Essay
There are differences among face, construct, and criterion related validity. Face validity assesses a task
under evaluation. A group of subjective experts evaluate face validity (Maribo, Pedersen, Jensen,
Nielsen, 2016). Face validity can be utilized to motivate stakeholders within an organization. If
stakeholders are not supportive of the results from face validity they will become disengaged. For
example, when measuring the level of professionalism during the hiring process questions should
relate to different levels of professionalism. If not stakeholders will not be motivated to give their
opinion and the true assessment of the hiring process will not be achieved. Face validity considers the
relevance of a test as it appears to testers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
367, 2012). This particular validity is important when it comes to legal defensibility. Construct
validity explains how what is being studied matches the actual measure. Criterion validity answers the
question of whether a test reflects a certain set of abilities. One way to assess criterion validity is to
compare it to a known standard. A reference is needed to determine an instrument s criterion related
validity. Criterion related validity predicts the future. If a nursing program designed a measure to
assess student learning throughout the program, a test such as the NCLEX would measure student s
ability in this discipline. If the instrument produces the same result as the superior test the instrument
has a high criterion related validity. The higher the results the more faith stakeholders will have in the
assessment tool. A criterion related validity study is conducted by statistically correlating scores with
some measure of job performance (Biddle, p.308, 2010). Criterion related validity is most important
when it comes to predicting performance in a specific job, and predicting future

Difference Between Wooden Motte And Bailey Castles
Because of a lack of a strong central government during feudal society, wars happened often. For
protection every noble built a castle. The first proper castles were built in England after the Norman
Conquest in 1066. Wooden motte and bailey castles were the first type of castle to be built in England.
The tower of the keep was built a huge mound called a motte and had an enclosed courtyard called a
bailey. It would have been very difficult to get up the sides of the motte because they were so steep. A
ditch dug around the bottom of the motte also added protection. The bailey was located at the bottom
of the motte and could be up to three acres. Followers of the lord who ran the castle lived inside the
bailey. There were many buildings in the bailey including bakeries, kitchens, houses, stables, and
living quarters for soldiers.
Motte and bailey castles were quick and easy to build. Some could even be finished in a couple of
weeks. However, wooden buildings caught on fire easily and stone structures were much stronger.
Because of this, motte and bailey castles were soon replaced with stone castles.

They had two or three walls around the keep. Because the inside walls were built higher than the
outside walls, defenders could shoot arrows over the heads of the soldiers defending the outside walls.
Even if an enemy broke though the outer walls, there was a second castle defended and with supplies
waiting for them. Known as the death hole, being trapped between two walls of a castle would result
in almost certain death for the attacker. Some concentric castles even had moats for more protection.
After the invention of gun powder concentric castles became even more popular because they could

Persuasive Essay On Surveillance Of Employees
In general, employers are allowed to install video cameras within an organization, which may include
direct surveillance of employees. First of all, this can be done without significant legal concern, at
least when placed in areas open to view. Both public and private employees may seek to assert an
expectation of privacy, though constitutional protections apply to public, but not private employees.
The reasonable expectation of privacy is determined on a case by case basis considering specific
policies, practices, and other circumstances. Also, employers are not allowed to conduct surveillance
of employees who are engaged in protected concerted activities, including those of union organizers.
In this case, the liability for invasion of privacy would lie with the school principal rather than the
school district. The plaintiff s claim was supported by the Fourth Amendment in that sufficient
evidence was provided to prove that the employees have an expectation of privacy in their locker
room and office, and from the students and other staff members to change clothing or complete office
work without interruptions. It is recommended that if your organization uses video monitoring, to
inform employees that they are subject to monitoring and surveillance, even though such notice may
not be legally required. All things considered, employers and others are prohibited from intentionally
intercepting wire, oral, or electronic communications, which can be in the form of electronic,

The Importance of Voting
Importance of Voting Introduction The importance of voting is a fundamental aspect of a democracy.
The United States is a constitutional republic in which the population votes on who represents them as
their leaders. The populace votes on leaders in the legislative, judicial and executive branches that
serve in a plethora of different positions in the government. The people in these positions will
determine things like laws that are drafted that will help to shape the nation. Some of the current
issues that politicians may be deciding upon might be abortion, capital punishment, gay rights, civil
rights, among others. Furthermore, many of the higher offices actually have the right to appoint
various other representatives such as judges and justices. Since the representatives will make decisions
that will affect nearly everyone in the country, the importance of voting on the representatives cannot
be understated. Importance of Voting It can be argued that voting for a candidate hardly ever makes a
difference. For example, it is rare that anyone of the elections is decided by one or two votes.
Therefore, when someone votes for a candidate and that individual wins or loses by a significant
margin, something in the tens of thousands or even in the millions, then voting for the candidate did
not make a difference in the election. This perspective is actually likely true in most situations. It is
incredibly rare that an election is ever decided by slim margin. It is

Cultural Themes In A Thousand Splendid Suns
A Thousand Splendid Suns
Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all . Alfred Lord Tennyson s quote from
his poem In Memoriam A.H.H. perfectly encapsulates A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.
A Thousand Splendid Suns impeccably portrays love and loss through the many deaths and reuniting
throughout the novel. The story as shows distinctive cultural concepts of Afghanistan, the intense
character development of Mariam, and compelling themes of love and loss. When reading A Thousand
Splendid Suns, one would feel a sort of culture shock due to the extremely differing folklore of the
people of Afghanistan from the 1970s to 2000s compared to the United States of 2017. Some of the

sisters Saideh or Naheed both her age, both students in the Mehri School in Heart, both with plans to

Hosseini). After Mariam s mother s death, her father, Jalil, immediately gives away Mariam to a
popular shoemaker of Kabul, Rasheed. She is extremely angry with her father s decision because her
half sisters are getting a quality education and better lives while she is forced to commit to a man she
barely knows at the age of 15. Secondly, a man having multiple wives was extremely common. Both
Jalil and Rasheed both had at least two wives. Laila marrying Rasheed affected Mariam quite a lot and
turned her extraordinarily hostile towards Laila.

Julie opened her eyes. Looking around herself with misty eyes, she found herself in a ward. No one
else was in the ward at that moment. The spacious ward was enveloped in quietness. Julie felt her head
heavy with dizziness, as if all the strength had drained out of her body. Questions stacked in her brain:
Why am I here? Why am I here? Yet her intense headache prevented her from thinking hard. Despite
her listless condition, she attempted to sit up in bed, but immediately felt an excruciating pain in her
left leg. Subconsciously, Julie groped for her leg. She felt the rigid plaster, and jerked her hands back

the unexpected car accident. She could not believe the misfortune that had befallen her, although the
physical and mental pain felt so menacingly real. In the following days, Julie shut herself in her own

victim of the mad car; she resented being unable to lead a normal life; she resented being called the

Financial Analysis Of Siriusxm s Subscription Based...
Financial Analysis SiriusXM s subscription based revenues, yielded the company $4.2 billion in 2014,
growing 10% year over year, continuing a decade long trend of revenue growth. In addition to revenue
growth, impressively high margins have produced free cash flow of $1 billion. Despite impressive
profitability metrics, financial struggles of the past are till casting long shadows in terms of debt and
outstanding shares, yet management is doing their best to dig themselves out of trouble. The key
metrics found below form the basis for industry comparisons and will discussed further hereafter. With
$4.2 billion in revenue, SiriusXM is the industry leader of subscription based revenue, while
iHeartMedia leads the way with $6.2 billion in advertising based revenues. When comparing gross
margin, which represents the percent to total revenue that the company retains after covering its cost
of goods sold, we see SiriusXM leads the way with 62%. This means they are retaining more on every
dollar of revenue that any of their competitors. Taking it one step further, looking at operating profit
margin, which determines how well the company can pay creditors and create free cash flow, we again
see SiriusXM quite handedly leading the industry at 27%. With such a healthy operating margin, it s
no surprise free cash flow is a major strength of the company, clearing $1 billion in 2014. Free cash

Noah s Ark Compare And Contrast
The Biblical story of Noah s Ark is one that most people have heard. The story of Noah starts with
God commanding Noah to build an Ark. God saw the evil in the world and decided to destroy man
and everything on earth with a great flood. Noah builds an Ark for his family and two of every animal
on board. Once the ark is complete, God then sent a flood and everything on earth was destroyed
except for Noah, his family and the animals. Noah sent out a dove to see if the water had receded and,
when the dove came back, it had an olive branch and Noah knew it was safe. God then told Noah that
he would never destroy the earth again with a flood. A rainbow appeared in the sky as a sign of God s
promise. Noah and his family exited the Ark and worshiped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

First are the rock creatures in the movie that most people will not be able to accept. Another issue is
that only one of Noah s sons had a wife, so how were they to go out to be fruitful and multiply. One
other issue that I found confusing was the snakeskin that Noah wrapped around his arm. Supposedly,
this was the skin of the serpent that tempted Eve and Adam into eating the forbidden fruit. It seems
like this image should represent evil. Also, in the movie God is always referred to as the Creator. It is
true that God is the creator and this is an appropriate way to identify him, but God s name was not
used throughout the movie. Everyone has opinions and views that are different. It also depends on
how well the audience knows the Biblical story of Noah. The Bible inspired the movie, but this
inspiration only goes so far. The basic themes of the movie that relates to the Bible story are that Noah
built an ark, saved two of each animal and that a great flood came and destroyed everything on earth.
Everything in between is an interpretation by Ari Handel and Darren Aronofsky. No one alive today
was there with Noah helping to build the ark; all we have is the Bible, which I believe is a true
account of the story. The movie does provoke controversy and will move people to share and debate
their views on what they believe. Christians stand on faith, not Hollywood s make believe. So, as to
how the audience will be

Essay on The Introduction of Prohibition
The Introduction of Prohibition
Prohibition was introduced in 1920 as part of an amendment to the Constitution of the USA. It was
introduced for a variety of different reasons including a wartime concern for preserving grain for food
rather than for brewing and distilling. There were also feelings against the German Americans, who
were responsible for brewing and distilling, at a time when America was at war against Germany
which also let the Anti Saloon league influence the general public before the main objectors, the men,
returned home. Even though there are many reasons for the introduction of prohibition there was only
one main consequence. It created the greatest criminal boom in American ... Show more content on

They said that buying alcohol would benefit the Germans and you would be being disloyal to your
country to purchase something that would benefit the enemy . Nevertheless, this would not stop the
large population of German Americans buying the alcohol along with many other Americans who had
come to America from other countries. An additional consideration that led people in the belief that
prohibition would succeed was the cost of alcohol so people may have used the law as an opportunity
to give up alcohol without seeming odd to others. Moreover, this problem would not prevent wealthy
Americans from trying to purchase alcohol because they had the money to do it without sending their
family into the downwards spiral of poverty. Also, to begin with the level of enforcement for the law
was so high that even if people did not support the law, the prohibition commissioners could have
worked hard to dispose of alcohol whilst gathering support. However, this hard work soon ended
when the commissioners, along with the police, politicians, magistrates, party officials and clerks,
began to accept bribes from gangsters and the owners of speakeasies to ignore the activities that were
taking place around them. Even though there are many reasons that say that prohibition could have

We the people, declare today that the most evident of truths that all of us are created equal is the star

as it guided all those men and women, sung and unsung, who left footprints along this great Mall, to

This was led by Elizabeth Stanton and Lucretia Mott. These conventions also were held in places like

movement (Imbornoni).
There were other ways women were advancing their political status. Due to the fact that women did
not have equal rights as men, until earlier in the 20th century, some would dress as men to achieve
higher political status or to get a better job. Gay women would cross dress just because it made them
feel more comfortable. Homosexuality was not an uncommon thing in the 19th century. It was normal
for members of the same sex to show affection to each other, and even sleep in the same bed. When
people would come out as homosexual; doctors automatically presumed they were mentally unstable
and they were put in an asylum. Doctors continued to say homosexuality was an illness until the
1970s. For about twenty years after the end of the 19th century, women, homosexuals, and African
Americans all struggled for their rights. Everything changed when the roaring twenties emerged.
In 1920, women finally were granted the right to vote with the passing of the nineteenth amendment.
This caused women to start rebelling against ladylike things that were considered normal behavior,
and the group known as the Flappers emerged. These young women drank and smoked excessively in
public, cut their hair, and wore short dresses. Some of these Flappers

Analytical Essay On The Waterfront
In the realist film, On The Waterfront, Elia Kazan offers the audience an exploration of what it means
to value individual conscience in the pursuit of justice. Set across from New York City, Kazan s tense
expose of organised corruption in the 1950 s follows the protagonist, Terry Malloy, as he struggles to
choose between his loyalties in a world filled with dishonesty and trepidation. Although it may seem
that many of the characters are bound to silence by fear and corruption, Kazan implies that a strong
moral presence can motivate others to help their community by exposing the facts to the public .
Kazan suggests that poverty and corruption can lead people to live in fear of those in power, as well as
how people may feel obliged to be loyal to those have helped them in the past. In addition to this,
Kazan conveys that a strong moral voice can be enough to catalyse change in a community. Through
the exploitation of the workers on the docks, Kazan highlights how power and corruption can drive
people towards keeping silent about things they know are morally inacceptable. Set in Hoboken, the
New York skyline constantly appears in the distance to represent the American dream. However, it is
always masked by a layer of fog and separated from the workers by a tall, metal fence. Therefore,
Kazan implies that, despite the idea that everyone should have an equal opportunity to prosper and
live comfortably, the American dream is obscured and unreachable for the longshoremen working on
the docks, with one worker even claiming: I m poorer now than when I started . Kazan further
demonstrates this view through his portrayal of Johnny Friendly and the Mob, who prevent the
workers from reaching this ideal. For example, when Father Barry first appears at the docks, one of
Johnny Friendly s men is taunting the workers, questioning: What s the matter? Nobody want to work
today? before leaving the workers frantically scrabbling for a token and the chance to get a day s
work. This suggests that the longshoremen are like pigeons searching for their day s feed, powerless
against the hawks watching from above who will be right down on them if they dare to speak out
against them. As a consequence, Kazan implies that the

Major Types Of Social Structure Theories
In a narrative, I will compare and contrast the three major types of social structure theories, and the
three major types of social structure theories are social disorganization theory, strain theory, and
culture conflict theory. Also, I will, include the major principles for each perspective. In this I will
define social structure , and I will detail key points in each of these subjects. Introduction Social
order, and economics in society explains crime by reference to the Social Structure theory. This type of
theory makes important relationships among social institutions and recount the types of behavior that
differinate groups of people from certain Individuals. There are three major types of social structure

these conditions. A sociological approach that propose a separation between socially and sub

found in a inconsistennse of values in the middle different socialized groups over what is acceptable .
These theory focus on the way in which society is organized. They are organise by their group, or

situation in which the researcher is about to provide (Apsler Sears, 1968). And the other warning is
there to show the intent of a forthcoming communicated message. Such intent could be the changing
of participants attitude, but before providing participants with information about the topic or position
of the communication (Apsler Sears, 1968). But how could forewarning have any effect on a
participant s attitude? It could be that forewarning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neimeyer, Rebecca Macnair, April E. Metzler, and Karen Courchaine (1991) are researcher at
University of Florida and they came to the conclusion that individuals with high levels of prior bias,
when forewarning is enhanced and creates a resistance to persuasion, whereas it has the opposite
effect on individuals with more balanced cognitions (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991).
This differentiation forms an inconsistency for researchers, since nearly every independent variable
has increased persuasion in some situations, had no effect in others, and decreased persuasion in still
other contexts (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). To account for these inconsistencies,
researchers use The Elaboration Likelihood Model or ELM to addressed the impact of forewarning
(forewarned, unwarned) and argument quality (strong, weak) on subjects to get an honest response
(Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). And according to ELM, the results of forewarning
would vary as a direct effect from cognitive responses (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine,
1991). Although, it is not only forewarning that could cause to resistance to persuasion but person
could be motivated by the warning to be more considerate in their own positions as participants, while
generating points of view in supporting their own stands and opposing alternative

Event Detectionification And Event Identification
There are a number of research works that have been conducted related to event identification,
organization and future event prediction. Many of these research works are based on social media
context. Available works on event detection can be divided into two main categories i.e. model based
method and model less data driven method. The basic idea of model based approaches is to compare
the system behavior, estimated by a dynamic model, to the expected behavior when the system is in a
certain state [11]. On the other hand, the data driven approaches use methods of machine
learning/pattern recognition to conduct statistical inference or decision making on available system
measurements. As large amount of data is made available by the ... Show more content on

Furthermore, this work missed an event which is not stated in advance in one of the aforementioned
event aggregation platforms. Liu et al.[14] tried to address the problem of structuring social media
activities into events in a different way. They particularly shown how to automatically detect those
events with the content properties such as location, time and participation from social media sites.
Their fundamental assumption was that when an event happened at a certain place and time, a large
number of photos and videos are taken and shared in the social media sites. However, their approach
had no point to validate under threshold collections from other social media sources. It just ignored if
the number of photos and videos taken by users are less than the threshold as if those few photos and
video posts might be event representative. Psallidas et al.[15] attempted to handle the challenge
observed in automatically identifying unknown event contents due to the high rate of the social
streams and the noisy nature of the data. They proposed an online clustering framework that leveraged
the multiple features associated with each social media document (e.g., publisher, text, and time for
the tweets). Even though their work attempted to show event identification from Twitter but didn t
claim how to overcome the noisy of the twitter message. Moreover, user contributed tags from other
social media sources are not yet addressed in this

Art Therapy And Self-Esteem
Correlation Study: Art Therapy and Self Esteem
Does art really have an effect on how we view ourselves? In this correlation research project we are
looking into self esteem and how it correlates to art therapy. There have been numerous articles and
research studies done in order to test and evaluate the effects of art therapy in the constraints of self
esteem. In a study that evaluated the strategies to elevate self esteem in female juvenile offenders, they
used art therapy as a tool in the goal of trying to elevate self esteem. Derived from this article we
receive a significant finding that art therapy is an effective strategy in order to help raise the level of
self esteem in the case of juvenile female offenders. The participants of this ... Show more content on

of if you could spend a whole day in an art museum would that make you feel happy or sad, and then
intrigued or more bored (r (27) =.419, p=.025). There was also a slight, but still statistically
insignificant, correlation between self esteem and if going to an art museum for a whole day would

Othering In The Stranger
According to sociologists, othering is how individual s view or treat (a person or group of people) as
intrinsically different from and alien to oneself. In other terms, the idea of otherness is mainly used for
sociologically based analyses of how majority and minority identities are constructed. According to
The Stranger by Albert Camus and The Meursault Investigation by Kamel Daoud, both authors
inscribe the idea of othering in their pieces of literature unintentionally. The protagonists of both
novels come from distinct backgrounds and therefore, we witness a cultural clash amongst the
protagonist s beliefs and the societies they live in. This is especially confirmed because the
representation of different groups within any given society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Both protagonists gave up on finding the purpose to their lives and began living animalistically
thinking primitively instead of cognitively. The effects of social pressure and othering also force the
protagonists to live by the existential philosophy which means they lack a sense of emotion and
interaction amongst other individuals. Meursault and Harun both state that they feel little to any
remorse after killing an innocent individual. The explanation for this is because they have the
mentality that shit just happens and there does not necessarily need to be a reason for it.
The philosophy of othering has extremely negative effects on society and the people in it. It forces the
idea of one group being better than the other. The sense of nationalism tied with othering causes others
to feel as though they do not belong or causes people to have too much pride in themselves. We see
being a part of either part if the spectrum only leads to chaos and

Nash Street Historic District Starkville Essay
The Nash Street Historic District a significant part of Starkville due to it being one of the cities earliest
twentieth century suburb. It signifies the change of Starkville from a minor, agricultural town to a
contemporary, university oriented city in response to the development of Mississippi A M College
(later Mississippi State University) in the 1930s. The district is also the largest and most complete
concentration of significant 1930s suburban architecture in the county. The significant period starts in
1932 and ends in 1940 when the last pre war house was constructed.
Nash Street is Starkville s first subdivision, 61 subdivisions have been listed at the Courthouse from
1934 1974. The Nash Street Historic District started the shift to suburban living and development in
Starkville, because the first housing was formerly gathered around the businesses in the central
business district.

It can be argued that the narrator is not accepted as a woman by the marquis in a virginal or non
virginal state and therefore is in a liminal state because he treats her as a child both before and after
the consummation of their marriage. Carter creates a dominant atmosphere through the use of minor
sentences: Not yet. Later. This causes an awkward tension when the Marqui teases her. The Marqui
gets a disturbing thrill from the power he holds over her. Carter wants to reinforce her views on
patriarchy suggesting that men see themselves as the dominant figure. Carter also explores an ominous
atmosphere through her use of intertextuality. All the better to see you reminds readers of the well
known fairytale Little Red Riding Hood. Carter changes the tone within these four pages as if the
unnamed narrator is talking to the readers. She asks questions like even on your honeymoon as if she
was addressing the readers; Carter uses this technique to personally engage readers with her story.
Also the pronoun your used by Carter changes her recollection of the story to second person. Carter
reminds us that this is her memory her experience, by the absence of speech marks when she is

Introduction Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) is a proprietary hospital management company.
The company has been following an acquisitive strategy by taking over hospital companies and not for
profit hospitals. The firm is also considering expanding into new health service areas like home health
care and outpatient surgery. The company is at a crossroads with regard to its financial goals; HCA
currently faces the likelihood of adverse changes to the Medicare/Medicaid policy which could strain

This is because there is a lack of growth opportunities through acquisition and construction of new
hospitals. HCA is expected to mature and become a cash cow by about 1987. At this stage, it is
expected to incur limited capital expenditure. Instead, the company can be milked continuously from
its existing operations and is expected to generate cash in excess of the amount required to maintain
the business. Likely impact of proposed changes to prospective reimbursement One of the significant
impacts of proposed changes to prospective reimbursement is that hospitals will be paid based on
expected fixed rates rather than actually incurred costs. Hospitals will no longer be paid using cost
plus basis (costs plus a certain percentage of profits based on costs). As a result of fixed rate payments
to hospitals, there will be more incentive for hospitals to reduce costs and improve efficiency in order
to maximise profits. The prospective reimbursement program will also result in hospitals not being
able to recoup full amount of allowable interest expense. Instead, they can only recoup the interest tax
shield portion of the interest expense. Investors

Neal Miller John Dollard Neal Miller, a well known psychologist, was an important theorist who
dedicated a lot of time and effort into studying the work of Sigmund Freud and Clark Hull. Miller
became interested in Clark Hull s work on his study of classical conditioning (Coon, 2010). While at

is response meaning the person must act on that drive and cue, and the final was reward which means

well as those four factors, Dollard and Miller discussed their version of Hull s drive reduction
hypothesis as drive reduction theory of reward (Coon, 2010). In their book, Personality and
Psychotherapy, Miller and Dollard also researched the stimulus response reinforcement theory. While
they were researching this theory, Miller and Dollard used a laxer version of this theory to analyze the
human personality and everything that it consists of (Bower, 2011). In order to gain a better
understanding of this theory in terms of personality, psychotherapy and psychoneuroses, Miller and

one of the most dangerous, if not, the most dangerous trib utes, Cato, who is 6 2 . Peeta lives with both

advantage. Peeta could also survive in the Hunger Games because he is also smart, a very good actor,

Theme Of Social Class In Jane Eyre

Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre traces the orphan Jane Eyre through her life at Gateshead Hall, Lowood
institution, Thornfield, Moore House, and ultimately, Ferndean. At an early age, Jane loses both her
mother and father to typhus, leaving her under the care of her uncle who also perishes and entrusts
Mrs. Reed with Jane s custody. After 10 years of living under Mrs.Reed s guardianship and enduring
her unjust treatment, Jane departs Gateshead for Lowood institute where she remains for eight years

becomes the governess of Adele a lively child who had been spoilt and indulged (111), she also meets
Mr. Rochester a man with stern features and a heavy brow who owns Thornfield. A central role in Jane

explored the ideas of the detective genre and the different characteristics of femininity and
masculinity. It also brought forth subjects of sexual desires and the greediness of money. The
characters and the visual motifs in the film contributed to the developing of the plot and assisted in

these cases were very distracting to the male characters in the film. Sam said to Iva, ?You shouldn?t

on the night that Miles, Iva?s husband was murdered. Sam could trust Effie, but both Effie and Sam

A character that Sam Spade had a hard time trusting was a woman named Brigid O?Shaughnessy, who

brush it off but once it is repeated over and over again it starts to really affect you but she had a good
natured personality so she could live with the bullying, her good nature kept her alive this is similar to
a fan belt in a car because the rubber is constantly under a little bit of friction not enough to affect it
one time but over the course of years it slowly wears out but until it actually breaks the car could still
run normally. The use of this simile is extremely important because rubber wears out if it is constantly
being used to move the vehicle which causes friction. Likewise, the girl s good nature was in constant
employment because of people constantly bullying her about her appearance, that it wore out and
finally snapped. She stops wanting to live because her good nature was keeping her life going so once
it was gone so was her life. When the fan belt on a car wears out and finally snaps, the car can no
longer move either, the car is dead like the girl. Also, fan belts are found on cars which you would

vaccination success. (Riedel, 2005) The comparison of the annual morbidity rate of the twentieth
century and the morbidity rate of 2000, shows a dramatic decrease. (Malone Hinman, n.d.) These
numbers demonstrate the success of childhood immunizations with improved survival rate in the
United States. (Malone Hinman, n.d.) Extensive research has been conducted to determine the safety
of vaccinations. Thimerosal is accused of possibly causing autism. The CDC has concluded that the
exposure to ethylmercury from thimerosal containing immunizations during pregnancy or as a young
child, was not associated with any of the ASD (autism) outcomes. (Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, 2011)

Puritans During The English Reformation
The roots of the Puritans are found in the beginning of the English Reformation. Puritans were a
member of a religious reform movement that arose within the Church of England in the sixteenth
century. The Puritans are people who stand for their own belief in the Holy Bible. These Puritans
shared many religious ideologies with the Pilgrims, since they both followed the supporting of French
Theologian, John Calvin. The teachings of Calvinism prescribes that our actions in the living world,
was responsible for what happened to us in the after world. They believed in the sovereignty of God.
This meant that no man had power to hold authority over other men. However this belief coincided
with the concept of a divine nature of kings that the English

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Date: March 10 2013
To: Mark Ferguson, President
From: Carl Holitzner
Re: FFL s Lower Than Budgeted Profit for the Fiscal Year Ended May 31 2010
The major issue is determining why Ferguson Foundry Limited s (FFL) actual profit was $367,600
lower than budgeted, despite selling 2,000 more wood stoves (12,000 instead of 10,000 units). This
will be explained using Variance Analysis to demonstrate the underlying reasons why the company
failed to meet its president s expectations. FFL profit for 2010 was below budget due to many factors
both production and marketing related.

Dealing with My Mom s Pancreatic Cancer
My mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer stage IV last July. I could believe what was happening
to me, at the age of 44 I considered myself a healthy person, I was never sick, I never smoked, I was
highly active and had a healthy diet. I couldn t find a possible explanation that justified this illness.
she said. It was really though for my family, we couldn t even say the word cancer for a few months.
We became angry because we thought that my mom didn t deserved that. The doctors were confident,
even though stage IV of pancreatic cancer has 1% of survival rate in the US. In addition to that, my
mom s tumor couldn t be removed because the cancer spread to distant organs. I tried to find out
everything I could about my cancer. When I first browsed pancreatic cancer on the internet, I got
worried. The results, news and statistics are scary, I tried to keep a positive mind and told myself that I
had to succeed and be healthy again she said. My mom talked to people who successfully remitted,
and that gave her a positive mind.
My mom started chemotherapy in october 2013. She needed six cycles of two chemos every two
weeks. Although she felt weak, sick and her nervous system got affected, she successfully completed
twelve chemos and she still has one more to go. By the middle of her treatment she got a PET scan
(Positron Emission Tomography) and the results were unexpected. Her cancer reduced 70% its size,
the metastatic rate was very low and the cancer in her

Social Conformity Of The 1950 s
The social conformity of the 1950s can best be described as a traditional family that abides by their
gender roles. Essentially, the 1950s were when people could finally take advantage of the new time
consuming inventions and economic boosts after having experienced WWII and the Great Depression.
However, the social conformity was just the general overview of the 1950s but poverty, racism, and
alienation still persisted. The resistance against social conformity was expressed by rebellion
including occurrences like the Empire Zinc Strike, the Mendez v. Westminster case, and Montgomery
Bus Boycott. Particularly, the Empire Zinc Strike of 1951 was when Mexican American mine workers
were being discriminated in terms of working conditions and

Evolution Of New Load Balancing Model For Cloud Computing
Evolution of new Load Balancing model for Cloud Computing Abstract Cloud computing is a vital
part of this new era IT world or we can say that it is a technology of new age which are used to
connect data and application from anywhere around the planet through the internet. Anything and
everything from servers to mobile phones can be connected to the cloud. It has also yielded up some
new companies which are providing consumer a large range of services. Due to this the upcoming
companies can now better concentrate on its major purpose and not have to worry about installing
their own servers and about its maintenance. They can be very easily outsourcing it to these cloud
suppliers saving a lot of capital and energy investment by them. Now, ... Show more content on

Dynamic schemes are more complex and use system information whereas static schemes are bit
simpler and system informations are not used here. Dynamic schemes get changed whenever the status
of the system gets changed. In our paper we have used dynamic schemes for flexibility. In our model
there is a main controller and balancer which gather and analyze each and every information. We
aimed at the public cloud in this load balancing model because public cloud has enormous nodes with
distributed computing resources present in many different locations. In this model public cloud is
being divided into several cloud partitions and when the load and environment is very large and
complex, these partitions simplify the load balancing. Due to its main controller the cloud can choose
suitable partition for the jobs which are arriving whereas the balancer for each cloud partition chooses
the best load balancing strategy Fig: Everything on the Cloud [16] Related works: There have been
many studies of load balancing for the cloud environment. Load balancing in cloud computing was
discussed in a white paper by Adler [3] who introduced the tools techniques commonly used for load
balancing in cloud. However load balancing is still a new problem in cloud computing that

Iago As A Cruel Character In Shakespeare s Othello
Ever came across a scheming, wrongdoing type of person? Ever came across a person that cannot be
trust because of their capability of going against others. I have not in my life, but I had the opportunity
of watching a movie about a person who conveyed harmful characteristics. In Shakespeare s play,
Othello , Iago is a cruel character. Iago is a good name for an evil character in another story. Many of
the characters were in the dark about Iago. In other words, Iago was on others bad side. He started
most of the chaos. In Shakespeare s play, Othello , Iago is a person who lies, manipulate, and kill
others purposely.
Firstly, Iago participated in lying actions. Iago lied to Othello which made him think that his wife
Desdemona was cheating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Manipulate means to influence a person skillfully. Manipulative also means to trick someone to obtain
favor of oneself. In Othello , Iago does a great job manipulating the characters in the story. He
manipulates Othello so much that Othello becomes sick, Iago plants a picture in Othello s head of
thoughts of adultery, cuckoldry, and hypocrisy, until Othello tells him to speak his mind (3.3.271).
Iago manipulates the characters so much that he starts to believe himself. Iago made the characters
believe that he knew more than what they thought he knew. The problems in the story arose from Iago
manipulating everyone that he thought pose a threat to him. Manipulative people, like Iago, are
dangerous.
Thirdly, Iago participated in killing actions. Whether it was physically and mentally, Iago killed
everyone in the story. He lied and manipulated the characters to a point that the whole village was
confused. This was his way of killing mentally. Iago killed his wife, Emilia, physically by stabbing her
to death. The story reads, Othello admits to Emilia that he killed Desdemona, and when she asks him
why, Othello tells her that Iago told him of Desdemona s falsehood (5.2.168). Iago mess eventually
catches up with him. In the end Iago, Desdemona, Emilia, and Othello were

Richard Swinburne s Teleological Argument
Richard Swinburne s Teleological Argument
Although explicated on many occasions and by many different authors, the teleological argument for
the existence of God provides the best springboard from which to launch contemporary convictions of
faith. In the revised edition of his earlier The Existence of God, Richard Swinburne constructs a solid
outline that reveals the exact structure of the teleological argument. He presents both forms of the
teleological argument , holds each under the light of skeptical review and then provides insight and
defense that allows for careful philosophical review.
Swinburne begins his outline of the teleological argument by identifying its two forms: regularities of
co presence and regularities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By natural processes they can only come into being through generation. But we know that the world
has not been going on forever, and so the great puzzle is the existence of the first animals and plants in
4004 BC or whenever exactly it was that animals and plants began to exist. Since they could not have
come about by natural scientific processes, and since they are very similar to the machines, which
certain rational agents, viz. men, make, it is very probable that they were made by a rational agent
only clearly one more powerful and knowledgeable than men. According to this version of the
teleological argument, that entity more powerful and knowledgeable than man is God.
The teleological argument whose version identifies regularities of co presence is quickly dismantled
with the introduction of Mr. Charles Darwin. Complex animals and plants, Swinburne argues, can be
produced through generation by less complex animals and plants species are not eternally extinct; and
simple animals and plants can be produced by natural processes from inorganic matter. And in this
simple language the logical validity of regularities of co presence simply ceases to exist: something of
a philosophical evolution.
And like the very argument that dismantled regularities of co presence, Swinburne s argument evolves
into a more complex version identified by regularities of succession. Regularities of succession,

Security And Security Techniques
Overall information systems hardware, software, networks and data resources need to be protected and
secured to ensure the effective performance of an organization. One security technique used by
organizations to protect their computer systems from security threats is encryption this is a method
used by organizations to send data to others it works by using special mathematical algorithms to
convert the data into scrambled code before transmission and when the data is received it is decoded
when an authorized user accesses it. In my opinion, this is very effective because it stops people from
being able to read or use data if they intercepted it as the is in a scrambled letter and number form.
Another security technique is a firewall this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anti virus software and Antispyware Software works by identifying suspicious software based on a
list of known threats it then checks the computer against that list and tells the user if it finds anything
on its list. In my opinion, Anti virus software and Anti Spyware Software is very effective because it
stops malicious software getting onto a computer which could steal or leak sensitive company data.
One security technique is protecting systems with usernames and passwords to access any equipment,
wireless networks and sensitive data should be guarded with unique usernames and passwords for
each member of staff, this is for two reasons it is an added layer of security so if someone hacks in
they have to get passed the password and it also allows companies to see what exactly their employees
are accessing, also the passwords that are used should be very strong so the passwords should include
numbers, letters and symbols and not have standard dictionary terms or dates such as birthdays which
are easy to guess. In my opinion, usernames and passwords are very effective because it makes it
harder for hackers to hack in and it allows companies to keep an eye on employees for example they
will be able to see what files they are accessing and if they are a risk to the company. One more
security technique is keeping sensitive data out of the cloud, Cloud computing offers businesses many
benefits like being a cheaper way to

This group is called junta, which is defined as a military or political group that controls a country after taking power by force. Since the NCPO has gained power by force, there are many people who dislike the junta. Because of this, they have begun punishing news companies for speaking out against them. If a media outlet releases commentaries that are negative towards the junta or the monarchy, they can face intimidation, punishment and even closure. Despite this, many media companies refused to comply and were temporarily forced off the air. They were then allowed to continue broadcasting as long as they agreed to remove such commentaries. Not only has the NCPO tried to silence large media companies, they have also been silencing civilians. There is currently a law in Thailand that bans public assemblies with more than five people. This is to deter protests against the junta. They also continue to stifle free speech with the Computer Related Crime Act (CCA). • 3. Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Diversity In The United... Not everyone in the United States have the same opportunities as others. This causes there to be separate groups and organizations who have different advantages than the other groups. The disadvantages that these other groups have can affects their lives drastically. Some of these advantages and disadvantage are caused by privilege Privilege is the benefits you get from belonging to a certain group. Being privileged could result in many advantages in life. Essentially if you were born a male you have a better advantage than a woman would. Men has the luxury to get payed more than women do and they don t have to worry about being raped by just walking down the street. Another advantage of being privileged in being born white. Being born caucasian or African American isn t something that you can control, however the opportunities they get sometimes are based upon the color of their skin. In the past years, there has been an ongoing trend that haven t been changed. Caucasians have been getting better jobs and better opportunities than people of color. There are certain jobs out there today that mainly hire white males; this is because they re known to be superior and dominant in the U.S. However not everyone seeing this issue because they are blinded by their privileges. Privileges can be blinding for people who are privileged. If you have privilege you re often blinded by the suffering of other people who don t have the same privilege that you do. • 5. Hummbert Love Lolita I. Question/Issue Throughout the course of the novel, Nabokov mentions and references the theme of love, specifically when he recalls on Humbert s feelings toward Lolita. As the narrator of the story, Humbert uses love as a willful and tenacious justification for his pedophilic tendencies toward nymphets like Lolita. As Lolita is only a young, undeveloped, and immature child, Humbert s desire for Lolita is not only unreasonable and awkward, but also psychologically and physically obsessive; he is unlike any other pedophile out here, as he experiences very little satisfaction after fondling , kissing , and groping Lolita. In every description and detail of Lolita throughout the novel, Humbert reminds the readers of his obsessive affinities which he has absolutely no control over and the ones that constantly keep him wanting to come back for more. As a large portion of the audience of this novel find the book to have the basis of lust , and a fair amount of other readers believes it has the basis of love , the question of whether or not Humbert truly loves Lolita comes into ... • 6. A Second Argument Pro Life Advocates A third argument pro life advocates have against abortion is regarding adoption. They believe that it is better for a woman to give birth to her baby at term and give it up for adoption than it is to abort it. They say that there are endless numbers of couples in the world that are not able to conceive or it is not safe for the mother to have children, that would be more than happy to adopt. As good as adoption is, the reality is that it can be very hard emotionally for the birth mother. Placing a child up for adoption can be very traumatic. The birth and the surrendering of the child may prompt various phases of grief including shock and denial, sorrow and depression, anger, guilt, and acceptance. Some women may feel it is easier emotionally to terminate a pregnancy in the early weeks while it is only a small bundle of fetal tissue. Going through a nine month pregnancy is a long and taxing process physically, mentally, and emotionally. In another situation, a woman may feel terminating her pregnancy is better than adoption if the father of the child has been abusive and wants to keep the baby. At that point, not only does that put stress on the mother thinking about the future for her child, but also brings more people into the decision, which can cause a lot of strain. Another issue facing adoption is the reality of many babies being born with serious physical and mental handicaps. Many women abort their children after finding out they have some sort of ... • 7. Face Construct And Criterion-Related Validity Essay There are differences among face, construct, and criterion related validity. Face validity assesses a task under evaluation. A group of subjective experts evaluate face validity (Maribo, Pedersen, Jensen, Nielsen, 2016). Face validity can be utilized to motivate stakeholders within an organization. If stakeholders are not supportive of the results from face validity they will become disengaged. For example, when measuring the level of professionalism during the hiring process questions should relate to different levels of professionalism. If not stakeholders will not be motivated to give their opinion and the true assessment of the hiring process will not be achieved. This particular validity is important when it comes to legal defensibility. Construct validity explains how what is being studied matches the actual measure. Criterion validity answers the question of whether a test reflects a certain set of abilities. One way to assess criterion validity is to compare it to a known standard. A reference is needed to determine an instrument s criterion related validity. Criterion related validity predicts the future. If a nursing program designed a measure to assess student learning throughout the program, a test such as the NCLEX would measure student s ability in this discipline. If the instrument produces the same result as the superior test the instrument has a high criterion related validity. The higher the results the more faith stakeholders will have in the assessment tool. A criterion related validity study is conducted by statistically correlating scores with some measure of job performance (Biddle, p.308, 2010). Criterion related validity is most important when it comes to predicting performance in a specific job, and predicting future ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Difference Between Wooden Motte And Bailey Castles Because of a lack of a strong central government during feudal society, wars happened often. For protection every noble built a castle. The first proper castles were built in England after the Norman Conquest in 1066. Wooden motte and bailey castles were the first type of castle to be built in England. The tower of the keep was built a huge mound called a motte and had an enclosed courtyard called a bailey. It would have been very difficult to get up the sides of the motte because they were so steep. A ditch dug around the bottom of the motte also added protection. The bailey was located at the bottom of the motte and could be up to three acres. Followers of the lord who ran the castle lived inside the bailey. There were many buildings in the bailey including bakeries, kitchens, houses, stables, and living quarters for soldiers. Motte and bailey castles were quick and easy to build. Some could even be finished in a couple of weeks. However, wooden buildings caught on fire easily and stone structures were much stronger. • 9. Persuasive Essay On Surveillance Of Employees In general, employers are allowed to install video cameras within an organization, which may include direct surveillance of employees. First of all, this can be done without significant legal concern, at least when placed in areas open to view. Both public and private employees may seek to assert an expectation of privacy, though constitutional protections apply to public, but not private employees. The reasonable expectation of privacy is determined on a case by case basis considering specific policies, practices, and other circumstances. Also, employers are not allowed to conduct surveillance of employees who are engaged in protected concerted activities, including those of union organizers. In this case, the liability for invasion of privacy would lie with the school principal rather than the school district. The plaintiff s claim was supported by the Fourth Amendment in that sufficient evidence was provided to prove that the employees have an expectation of privacy in their locker room and office, and from the students and other staff members to change clothing or complete office work without interruptions. It is recommended that if your organization uses video monitoring, to inform employees that they are subject to monitoring and surveillance, even though such notice may not be legally required. All things considered, employers and others are prohibited from intentionally intercepting wire, oral, or electronic communications, which can be in the form of electronic, ... • 11. The Importance of Voting Importance of Voting Introduction The importance of voting is a fundamental aspect of a democracy. The United States is a constitutional republic in which the population votes on who represents them as their leaders. The populace votes on leaders in the legislative, judicial and executive branches that serve in a plethora of different positions in the government. The people in these positions will determine things like laws that are drafted that will help to shape the nation. Some of the current issues that politicians may be deciding upon might be abortion, capital punishment, gay rights, civil rights, among others. Furthermore, many of the higher offices actually have the right to appoint various other representatives such as judges and justices. Since the representatives will make decisions that will affect nearly everyone in the country, the importance of voting on the representatives cannot be understated. Importance of Voting It can be argued that voting for a candidate hardly ever makes a difference. For example, it is rare that anyone of the elections is decided by one or two votes. Therefore, when someone votes for a candidate and that individual wins or loses by a significant margin, something in the tens of thousands or even in the millions, then voting for the candidate did not make a difference in the election. This perspective is actually likely true in most situations. It is incredibly rare that an election is ever decided by slim margin. It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Noah s Ark Compare And Contrast The Biblical story of Noah s Ark is one that most people have heard. The story of Noah starts with God commanding Noah to build an Ark. God saw the evil in the world and decided to destroy man and everything on earth with a great flood. Noah builds an Ark for his family and two of every animal on board. Once the ark is complete, God then sent a flood and everything on earth was destroyed except for Noah, his family and the animals. Noah sent out a dove to see if the water had receded and, when the dove came back, it had an olive branch and Noah knew it was safe. God then told Noah that he would never destroy the earth again with a flood. A rainbow appeared in the sky as a sign of God s promise. Noah and his family exited the Ark and worshiped ... Another issue is that only one of Noah s sons had a wife, so how were they to go out to be fruitful and multiply. One other issue that I found confusing was the snakeskin that Noah wrapped around his arm. Supposedly, this was the skin of the serpent that tempted Eve and Adam into eating the forbidden fruit. It seems like this image should represent evil. Also, in the movie God is always referred to as the Creator. It is true that God is the creator and this is an appropriate way to identify him, but God s name was not used throughout the movie. Everyone has opinions and views that are different. It also depends on how well the audience knows the Biblical story of Noah. The Bible inspired the movie, but this inspiration only goes so far. The basic themes of the movie that relates to the Bible story are that Noah built an ark, saved two of each animal and that a great flood came and destroyed everything on earth. Everything in between is an interpretation by Ari Handel and Darren Aronofsky. No one alive today was there with Noah helping to build the ark; all we have is the Bible, which I believe is a true account of the story. The movie does provoke controversy and will move people to share and debate their views on what they believe. Christians stand on faith, not Hollywood s make believe. It was introduced for a variety of different reasons including a wartime concern for preserving grain for food rather than for brewing and distilling. There were also feelings against the German Americans, who were responsible for brewing and distilling, at a time when America was at war against Germany which also let the Anti Saloon league influence the general public before the main objectors, the men, returned home. Nevertheless, this would not stop the large population of German Americans buying the alcohol along with many other Americans who had come to America from other countries. An additional consideration that led people in the belief that prohibition would succeed was the cost of alcohol so people may have used the law as an opportunity to give up alcohol without seeming odd to others. Moreover, this problem would not prevent wealthy Americans from trying to purchase alcohol because they had the money to do it without sending their family into the downwards spiral of poverty. Also, to begin with the level of enforcement for the law was so high that even if people did not support the law, the prohibition commissioners could have worked hard to dispose of alcohol whilst gathering support. However, this hard work soon ended when the commissioners, along with the police, politicians, magistrates, party officials and clerks, began to accept bribes from gangsters and the owners of speakeasies to ignore the activities that were taking place around them. Due to the fact that women did not have equal rights as men, until earlier in the 20th century, some would dress as men to achieve higher political status or to get a better job. Gay women would cross dress just because it made them feel more comfortable. Homosexuality was not an uncommon thing in the 19th century. It was normal for members of the same sex to show affection to each other, and even sleep in the same bed. When people would come out as homosexual; doctors automatically presumed they were mentally unstable and they were put in an asylum. Doctors continued to say homosexuality was an illness until the 1970s. For about twenty years after the end of the 19th century, women, homosexuals, and African Americans all struggled for their rights. Everything changed when the roaring twenties emerged. In 1920, women finally were granted the right to vote with the passing of the nineteenth amendment. Although it may seem that many of the characters are bound to silence by fear and corruption, Kazan implies that a strong moral presence can motivate others to help their community by exposing the facts to the public . Kazan suggests that poverty and corruption can lead people to live in fear of those in power, as well as how people may feel obliged to be loyal to those have helped them in the past. In addition to this, Kazan conveys that a strong moral voice can be enough to catalyse change in a community. Through the exploitation of the workers on the docks, Kazan highlights how power and corruption can drive people towards keeping silent about things they know are morally inacceptable. Set in Hoboken, the New York skyline constantly appears in the distance to represent the American dream. However, it is always masked by a layer of fog and separated from the workers by a tall, metal fence. Therefore, Kazan implies that, despite the idea that everyone should have an equal opportunity to prosper and live comfortably, the American dream is obscured and unreachable for the longshoremen working on the docks, with one worker even claiming: I m poorer now than when I started . Kazan further demonstrates this view through his portrayal of Johnny Friendly and the Mob, who prevent the workers from reaching this ideal. For example, when Father Barry first appears at the docks, one of Johnny Friendly s men is taunting the workers, questioning: What s the matter? Nobody want to work today? before leaving the workers frantically scrabbling for a token and the chance to get a day s work. This suggests that the longshoremen are like pigeons searching for their day s feed, powerless against the hawks watching from above who will be right down on them if they dare to speak out against them. As a consequence, Kazan implies that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Forewarning Study Two Forewarning or warning is defined as informing someone of a danger or possible problem ahead of time. Robert Apsler and David O. Sears (1968) use forewarning to describe two different kinds of prior warnings to subjects. The first one involves forewarning participants of the specific situation in which the researcher is about to provide (Apsler Sears, 1968). And the other warning is there to show the intent of a forthcoming communicated message. Such intent could be the changing of participants attitude, but before providing participants with information about the topic or position of the communication (Apsler Sears, 1968). This differentiation forms an inconsistency for researchers, since nearly every independent variable has increased persuasion in some situations, had no effect in others, and decreased persuasion in still other contexts (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). To account for these inconsistencies, researchers use The Elaboration Likelihood Model or ELM to addressed the impact of forewarning (forewarned, unwarned) and argument quality (strong, weak) on subjects to get an honest response (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). And according to ELM, the results of forewarning would vary as a direct effect from cognitive responses (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). • 21. Event Detectionification And Event Identification There are a number of research works that have been conducted related to event identification, organization and future event prediction. Many of these research works are based on social media context. Available works on event detection can be divided into two main categories i.e. model based method and model less data driven method. The basic idea of model based approaches is to compare the system behavior, estimated by a dynamic model, to the expected behavior when the system is in a certain state [11]. On the other hand, the data driven approaches use methods of machine learning/pattern recognition to conduct statistical inference or decision making on available system measurements. Liu et al.[14] tried to address the problem of structuring social media activities into events in a different way. They particularly shown how to automatically detect those events with the content properties such as location, time and participation from social media sites. Their fundamental assumption was that when an event happened at a certain place and time, a large number of photos and videos are taken and shared in the social media sites. However, their approach had no point to validate under threshold collections from other social media sources. It just ignored if the number of photos and videos taken by users are less than the threshold as if those few photos and video posts might be event representative. Psallidas et al.[15] attempted to handle the challenge observed in automatically identifying unknown event contents due to the high rate of the social streams and the noisy nature of the data. They proposed an online clustering framework that leveraged the multiple features associated with each social media document (e.g., publisher, text, and time for the tweets). In other terms, the idea of otherness is mainly used for sociologically based analyses of how majority and minority identities are constructed. According to The Stranger by Albert Camus and The Meursault Investigation by Kamel Daoud, both authors inscribe the idea of othering in their pieces of literature unintentionally. The protagonists of both novels come from distinct backgrounds and therefore, we witness a cultural clash amongst the protagonist s beliefs and the societies they live in. Meursault and Harun both state that they feel little to any remorse after killing an innocent individual. The explanation for this is because they have the mentality that shit just happens and there does not necessarily need to be a reason for it. The philosophy of othering has extremely negative effects on society and the people in it. It forces the idea of one group being better than the other. The girl was always being called names and was made fun of and if it happens once you brush it off but once it is repeated over and over again it starts to really affect you but she had a good natured personality so she could live with the bullying, her good nature kept her alive this is similar to a fan belt in a car because the rubber is constantly under a little bit of friction not enough to affect it one time but over the course of years it slowly wears out but until it actually breaks the car could still run normally. The use of this simile is extremely important because rubber wears out if it is constantly being used to move the vehicle which causes friction. Likewise, the girl s good nature was in constant employment because of people constantly bullying her about her appearance, that it wore out and finally snapped. She stops wanting to live because her good nature was keeping her life going so once it was gone so was her life. When the fan belt on a car wears out and finally snaps, the car can no longer move either, the car is dead like the girl. Also, fan belts are found on cars which you would associate with men so the author uses it as the simile to show the reader how when someone isn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Childhood Inoculations | Childhood Inoculations| Is it a decision for government or parents?| | Linda Trostle| 602.4.17 10| | There is much debate regarding the necessity and safety of childhood vaccinations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a series of vaccinations that include 26 doses of various vaccinations before age 6. Each state regulates and enforces the requirements for childhood vaccinations in the United State. Some parents believe that vaccinations can be harmful and want the right to choose to raise their child without immunizations. Since effective widespread immunizations have been accomplished, incidences of diseases have been significantly reduced. These diseases include smallpox, diphtheria, ... However, the social conformity was just the general overview of the 1950s but poverty, racism, and alienation still persisted. The resistance against social conformity was expressed by rebellion including occurrences like the Empire Zinc Strike, the Mendez v. Westminster case, and Montgomery Bus Boycott. Dynamic schemes are more complex and use system information whereas static schemes are bit simpler and system informations are not used here. Dynamic schemes get changed whenever the status of the system gets changed. In our paper we have used dynamic schemes for flexibility. In our model there is a main controller and balancer which gather and analyze each and every information. We aimed at the public cloud in this load balancing model because public cloud has enormous nodes with distributed computing resources present in many different locations. In this model public cloud is being divided into several cloud partitions and when the load and environment is very large and complex, these partitions simplify the load balancing. Due to its main controller the cloud can choose suitable partition for the jobs which are arriving whereas the balancer for each cloud partition chooses the best load balancing strategy Fig: Everything on the Cloud [16] Related works: There have been many studies of load balancing for the cloud environment. Load balancing in cloud computing was discussed in a white paper by Adler [3] who introduced the tools techniques commonly used for load balancing in cloud. • 48. Richard Swinburne s Teleological Argument Richard Swinburne s Teleological Argument Although explicated on many occasions and by many different authors, the teleological argument for the existence of God provides the best springboard from which to launch contemporary convictions of faith. In the revised edition of his earlier The Existence of God, Richard Swinburne constructs a solid outline that reveals the exact structure of the teleological argument. He presents both forms of the teleological argument , holds each under the light of skeptical review and then provides insight and defense that allows for careful philosophical review. Swinburne begins his outline of the teleological argument by identifying its two forms: regularities of co presence and regularities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By natural processes they can only come into being through generation. But we know that the world has not been going on forever, and so the great puzzle is the existence of the first animals and plants in 4004 BC or whenever exactly it was that animals and plants began to exist. Since they could not have come about by natural scientific processes, and since they are very similar to the machines, which certain rational agents, viz. men, make, it is very probable that they were made by a rational agent only clearly one more powerful and knowledgeable than men. According to this version of the teleological argument, that entity more powerful and knowledgeable than man is God. The teleological argument whose version identifies regularities of co presence is quickly dismantled with the introduction of Mr. Charles Darwin. Complex animals and plants, Swinburne argues, can be produced through generation by less complex animals and plants species are not eternally extinct; and simple animals and plants can be produced by natural processes from inorganic matter. And in this simple language the logical validity of regularities of co presence simply ceases to exist: something of a philosophical evolution. And like the very argument that dismantled regularities of co presence, Swinburne s argument evolves into a more complex version identified by regularities of succession. Security And Security Techniques Overall information systems hardware, software, networks and data resources need to be protected and secured to ensure the effective performance of an organization. One security technique used by organizations to protect their computer systems from security threats is encryption this is a method used by organizations to send data to others it works by using special mathematical algorithms to convert the data into scrambled code before transmission and when the data is received it is decoded when an authorized user accesses it. In my opinion, this is very effective because it stops people from being able to read or use data if they intercepted it as the is in a scrambled letter and number form. Another security technique is a firewall this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anti virus software and Antispyware Software works by identifying suspicious software based on a list of known threats it then checks the computer against that list and tells the user if it finds anything on its list. In my opinion, Anti virus software and Anti Spyware Software is very effective because it stops malicious software getting onto a computer which could steal or leak sensitive company data. One security technique is protecting systems with usernames and passwords to access any equipment, wireless networks and sensitive data should be guarded with unique usernames and passwords for each member of staff, this is for two reasons it is an added layer of security so if someone hacks in they have to get passed the password and it also allows companies to see what exactly their employees are accessing, also the passwords that are used should be very strong so the passwords should include numbers, letters and symbols and not have standard dictionary terms or dates such as birthdays which are easy to guess. In my opinion, usernames and passwords are very effective because it makes it harder for hackers to hack in and it allows companies to keep an eye on employees for example they will be able to see what files they are accessing and if they are a risk to the company. One more security technique is keeping sensitive data out of the cloud, Cloud computing offers businesses many benefits like being a cheaper way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
