Joseph Stalin s Language In Animal Farm
George Orwell s novel, Animal Farm, is an extensive allegory for the Russian Revolution using
farm animals that have human characteristics. When referencing communist Russia, Orwell had to
mimic the words and phrases that strengthened Joseph Stalin s reign. George Orwell emphasizes the
power a dictator s language can have by incorporating the Beasts of England song to rally the
revolution, the Seven Commandments to establish order, and the animals chants to reinforce the
dictator s control. The first inclusion of language is the Beasts of England song. At the beginning of
the story, Old Major sings his vision of a better world to the farm animals, while parodying The
International, a French song that inspired the communist movement (Soviet... Show more content on

Many animals on the farm have short catchphrases that they recite over and over because they
have a terrible memory. Due to the other animal s lack of intelligence, the pigs take advantage of
them to gain more power. The text supports this when Boxer constantly insists, It must be due to
some fault in ourselves. The solution, as I see it, is to work harder (85). Boxer s chants show
his mindset of being completely committed to following Napoleon s leadership. His chants
masked his inability to think for himself and care for his health, thus, it ultimately led to his
detriment. Napoleon s authority was also demonstrated by the sheep, [Napoleon] was especially
successful with the sheep... they were liable to break into four legs good, two legs bad at crucial
moments in Snowball s speeches (47). A herd of sheep has always been used as a metaphor for
people who mindlessly follow their leader. Squealer teaches the sheep sayings to implant beliefs
into the farm animal s minds. This method of persuasion is similar to the propaganda tactics used
by the Russian media during Joseph Stalin s dictatorship. Stalin made sure that every resident was
influenced by the continuous messages from the radio, posters, newspapers, and other form of
media. Napoleon can efficiently adjust the current mottos the animals use for his own selfish plans

CAFO In Alabama
Alabama is a leader in the United States of America in agriculture. According to Alabama Agri
culture Statistics supplied by the United States Department of Agriculture, Alabama was ranked
3rd in broiler production, 2nd in catfish sales and 14th in egg production in 2011. Although the
number of farms has drastically dropped from about 225,000 farms spanning over 22 million
acres in 1950 to 50,000 farms spanning 7.5 million acres in 2010, Alabama still remains a leader in
the field of agriculture. Nationally and locally the drastic decrease can be traced to the installa
tion and expansion of CAFOs. Defined by the EPA, a CAFO is an agricultural operation where
animals are kept and raised in confined situations (EPA 12). In order to be qualified... Show more

This treatment of animal waste is dangerous and could lead to serious consequences. For example,
the organoarsenicals in fertilizer are consumed by poultry, high levels of arsenic are found in the
tissue of animals, and then poultry waste is used as a fertilizer. The incineration causes arsenic to
be released into the air, this is an issue for communities surrounding the area. This constant entrance
of organoarsenicals into the environ ment causes a risk for soil and groundwater becomes of less
quality. In the United States 61% of farmers sell litter based fertilizers and 23% use their own
animal waste as soil fertilizer (Kiranma yi). The use of animal waste as fertilizer is a positively
impactful option for the environment when treated with care and managed properly. It is easier to
manage on small farms as the farm ers can simply move their animals around the acreage
spreading the waste equally. This technique keeps the waste light on one spot allowing it to not
overwhelm the soil. However, it is also crucial to consider the chemicals inside the waste, and
currently it is not cost effective for large scale farmers or CAFOs to use environmentally friendly
fertilizers and animal feed. Farmers also put antibiotics into their animals to speed up growth, these
antibiotics contribute to the waste prob lem (Tasho). They pass through the animal

Benefits And Benefits Of Pay And Reward Strategies
Several pay and reward strategies can be adopted by organisations. However, each of the
strategies involves issues that must be considered as it could affect the employees and the
organisation. Therefore, it is vital that each organisation implement and develop certain pay and
reward strategies, which are aligned with its own business strategies. This will ensure that
perspectives of employees, employers and the costs are all considered in the course of the
application of each strategy. The aim of this essay is to explain and evaluate the main pay and
reward strategies adopted by organisations as well as the benefits and disadvantages of each.
Graded pay, broad banding graded pay, labour market related pay, performance related pay and total
reward which includes financial and non financial rewards will all be explained in detail and
evaluated as well as the benefits and drawbacks of each.
Gilmore and Williams (2013) suggest that one of the most important Human Resource Management
activities in any organisation is reward management such as pays and benefits as well as non
financial rewards which is also referred to as intrinsic rewards since this can have a strong impact
on recruiting new people and retaining existing employees. In addition to this, Bartol and Locke
(2000) and Caruth and Hand logten (2001) explains that financial rewards satisfy employees basic
needs for survival such as security and recognition at work and intrinsic rewards are the

Smartphones Dependence
The Dependence of People on Smartphones.
The excessive use of smartphones has not only changed the way we see technology but also the
way we live our lives. In the year 2000, the first touch screen phone was introduced and people
who loved technology were amazed by this cellphone technology that did not required a physical
keypad to work or access the cellphone main menu, although not that many special features were
added to this cellphone besides the digital touch screen tech lovers fell in love with this device
almost instantly because of the futuristic idea of replacing buttons with a digital touchscreen. Even
though this cellphone was a pioneer in a new era revolutionizing the idea of a physical keypad to

Another major and maybe one of the most influential impacts of the smartphones in our society
nowadays is a system called face time or video calling, it is supposed to keep friends not just in
touch but face to face using a smartphone device to see each other live. Personally, I believe face
time isn t really that bad when it comes to staying in touch with friends who live far away but I
have also noticed some friends who live maybe 1 mile or 2 away from each other using face time
instead to going to each other s houses and have a conversation and enjoy friendship like in good
old times now with this technology that it supposed to be facilitating our lives seems to be
depriving us from life itself.
In Conclusion, I would first like to state that the reason I feel this way about smartphones is
because I used to depend on the use of my smartphone more than the use of any other book, the
opinion of any other person, or sometimes common sense itself. I had become addicted to the use
of my smartphone and didn t know I was excessively using my device to accomplish tasks that I
would do before without the need of this device,

Doryphoros Essay
Doryphoros by Polykleitos was originally a Greek bronze made around 450 40B.C. The only
way we can see it today is through the Roman marble copies (which is common of many Greek
statues.) Some supports had to be added for the change in material, resulting in the addition of
the form resembling a tree trunk, the support on the left foot, and the small bar bridging the gap
between his right wrist and hip. Doryphoros was originally holding a spear in his left hand;
appropriate, given that his name means, literally, spear bearer. The sculpture is a well known and
early example of classical Greek contrapposto (the shifting of weight onto one leg and off axis
shoulders and arms.) One leg nearly appears to be lifting off the ground, giving the... Show more

Plato felt that artists knew nothing worth mentioning because all they do is imitate, and so their
work was worthless. Additionally, Plato believed that we, as humans not of the metaphysical
realm, can not know what true beauty is because we have not experienced the true, beautiful form
of anything. Plato would say that Doryphoros was worthless for those very reasons. It is an
imitation of a perfect form, and therefore cannot be beautiful. Although Doryphoros is
anatomically and proportionally realistic, Plato would not be appreciative of it as art and would
not see it as an object of beauty. He would likely scorn Polykleitos for even bothering to sculpt it in
the first place. To examine the thoughts of another Greek philosopher, Aristotlewould have a much
different perspective on Doryphoros. Aristotle felt that imitation was natural for us as humans. He
felt that we could learn from imagery that is realistic because it may influence us to examine it
more closely. He felt that the creative individual could express the universal, fundamental qualities
of human nature, and did not see their work as worthless as Plato did. Polykleitos sculpted athletic
nudes such as Doryphoros in ordinance to his mathematical canon, a

Accepting Gifts From The Clients
1
Introduction
The receiving and giving gifts especially in health care is considered to be more ethically
sensitive issue (Oak, 2005). Therefore, I decided to focus on the issue of accepting gifts from the
clients in the health services because I am a nurse by profession and I usually come across with
this issue. In my opinion, it is a debatable question that whether the professionals accept gifts or not
and it is controversial. It varies from discipline to discipline and person to person perspectives
(Krassner, 2004). Webster s Third New International Dictionary (Gove, 1993) defines a giftas ...

More than that, gifts can be modest such as a music CD or flowers or even more expensive items
like piano. Therefore, appropriateness of the gifts can be determined by their type, financial value,
its timing, content, frequency, intention of the giver, insight of the receiver and its effect on the
giver, receiver or anyone else who may affected by the gift giving (Zur, 2007; Caddell Hazelton,
2013 ). Gifts are common in the termination session, and a gift at the early stage of therapy need
more consideration (Zur, 2012). In my reading I have found that, there are three general
categories of gifts. First one, gift is considered as a tip to the professional who have a good
personalized service in the restaurant or a health professional providing care that is beyond the
call of duty . Second one, gifts are given to address the perceived imbalance in the professional
relationship. Third one, gift act as a sacrifice or respect to the professional such as signing in the
forms for the specific benefit to the client (Gerig, 2014). These gifts mostly represent gratitude and
appreciation. Sometimes, gift may given as way of manipulating or influence the person such as
extra care, spent extra time with the client and so on (Cornock, 2011). In fact, gift giving being a
quite common practice in clinical settings (Anderson, 2011). I read in the article that, gift giving is
a form of communication. Apart from that, gift giving

The As A Vegetarian Based Or Vegan Diet ( Watters )
Vegetarianism has existed for many centuries, but perhaps the most well known vegetarian was
Pythagoras. Pythagoras was a philosopher whom educated much of the world on his ideas in life,
one at the time being the abstinence of meat. Pythagoras, along with many of his followers,
believed that the consumption of meatcould affect the longevity of one s life. Though not
everyone believed in Pythagoras opinions, he still had a loyal group of followers. Pythagoras
was so widely associated with a meat free diet that the terms vegetarian was not even in use until
1847, when the term pythagorean was changed to vegetarian (Avey). Today, there are 16 million
people in America who follow a vegetarian based or vegan diet (Watters). There is a common
misconception that the choice to become a vegetarian is based only on a person s love for
animals, but there are many other benefits to being a vegetarian. Pythagoras and his followers gave
many of the same arguments that people who abstain from meat today support; for example,
Pythagoras had the belief that there was a majority of added health benefits from a meatless diet
(Avey). Vegetarianism
can decrease the risk of cancer along with other health concerns, can solve
problems the world presently faces, such as world hunger and animal cruelty and can have positive
effects on the environment such as pollution reduction and overgrazing reduction. People need to
adopt a vegetarian lifestyle because it will improve public

Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy for Bank of America
Organizational Background Bank of America is a multinational banking and financial services
firm that has become a mega giant the second largest holding company in the U.S. and the 3 4th
largest bank in terms of overall capitalization. The headquarters are in Charlotte, North Carolina,
with the bank servicing clients in over 150 countries and some type of business relationship with
over 99 per cent of U.S. Fortune 500 companies and 85 per cent of the Global Fortune 400. Forbes
lists BofA as the 3rd largest company in the world, holding about 13 per cent of all U.S. deposits
and 57 million customers (Bankof American, 2011; The Global 2000; Fortune 500).
Background to CSR In this environment, the impact of behaviour, values and ethics on achieving a
company s strategic vision represents a timely and valuable undertaking. This behaviour, often
called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a new focus on ethical and social issues (Sen
Bhattacharya 2001). CSR leads marketers to the notion of both global and stakeholder
responsibility, and an organizational system that begs for sustainability not just to outlast the
competition, but to increase customer loyalty, presence in the global market, and a stronger
unification with the political bureaucracies. There is a clear integrative framework involved that
impacts the idea of sustainable marketing concepts (Maignan Ferrell 2004). Indeed, at the same
time, culture has changed, too; there is likely not a country in the

the SB Diet. In phase one, you eat normal portion sizes but all carbohydrates are restricted. Phase
one last two weeks and is the strictest phase and the hardest to endure in the diet. It emphasizes
lean meats, such as chicken, turkey, fish, and shellfish. Low Glycemic index vegetables are
allowed as well as low fat cheese, nuts, and eggs. Dieters should expect to lose somewhere
between eight to thirteen pounds in the two week frame. In phase two, some of the banned food
are slowly introduced while weight loss continue to around one to two pounds per week. The SB
diet participant should remain in phase two until you have lost your desired amount of weight.
Phase three is for maintenance and should be followed for life. This phase is all about maintaining
your desired weight with a healthy balanced diet. Should the dieters weight begin to climb, simply

Well I hope I am on the right track as far as this goes...I am giving it my best. There is a total of
163 people ranging between the age of 21 to 65 so what I did in order to calculate how many
individuals there are between the ages of 29 and 45 was I created a frequency chart for the total
number of individuals. So for 163 people between ages 21 to 65 = 100% and of the 100% of I
calculated that there were 88 students that represented between the ages 29 to 45 = 54%. How I
came to my conclusion was by using Stat Crunch by first going to summary states then I chose
How Old which gave me the total represented of 163. Then in Stat Crunch I created a frequency
table and just counted up the total number of students that responded there age between 29 45.
Then after I calculated and got my number of 88 I divided that number by the total number of 163
which was 0.539877301 and I just rounded it off to 54%.

Google s Uses For Creating And Linking Your Content
When it comes to backlinks, they can propel your website to the top of the Google pile, or they
can sink your website to the depths of the unknown. After creating your website and spending
time as well as effort to build your site, you don t want to be sunk by bad backlinking practices.
You want to stay on the good side of Google. To do that, you ll needto practice white hat strategies
for creating and linking your content.
Link Building of the Past
The days of creating thousands of terrible, non related links from spammy sites is over. As little as
a few years ago, Google would count the number of links to see who had the most authoritative site.
Now, Google s algorithm is more complex, and it s smarter. It will check to see if the content is
being shared by others. It will check the quality of the content being created too.
The old spammy link building process can actually incur penalties with Google that can actually
hurt your search engine optimization.
Creating Shareable, Linkable Content
Where old strategies would allow you to create any kind of content, which would often be riddled
with typos and bad information, Google now wants you to create meaningful, detailed and accurate
content that s focused on the reader.

Radon-222 Research Paper
There are numerous different isotopes of radon so it is difficult to verify who discovered it first,
but radon 220 and 222 are the most common forms of this element. Radon 222 was first
discovered by a German chemist named Friedrich Ernst Dorn while he was studying radium s
decay chain in 1900. However Robert Owens and Ernest Rutherford observed another isotope of
radonfirst, radon 220, in 1899. More specifically, Rutherford discovered radon s alpha radiation and
Dorn discovered that radiumwas releasing a gas. English physicist William Ramsay revealed his
discoveries of the five other noble gases around the same time as Friedrich Dorn s discovery.
Ramsay had previously predicted the existence of radon and even specified some of its

Rapunzel As A Prime Example Of The Damsel Archetype
I previously referenced my relationship to the mythical character Rapunzel as I believe she is a
prime example of The Damsel archetype. The most popular adaptation of Rapunzel was by the
Brothers Grimm in their Children s and Household Tales folklore book. The story of Rapunzel
begins with her father who steals a rampion from the garden of an enchantress. To atone for his
sin, the enchantress seizes infant Rapunzel from her parents. She raises the child as her own in
a secluded tower without stairs or doors leading to the outside world. As prince is leisurely
exploring the forest, he overhears the enchanting singing voice of a young women. He follows
the resonance of her melodies and comes across the tower. The voice belongs to Rapunzel, who
is now in her early teenage years. The prince was completely captivated by her voice and desired
to release her from her brick cage and marry her. Having found out his plan, the enchantress casts
an evil spell on the prince leaving him blind. By fate, Rapunzel then escapes the tower and is
reunited with the prince. Out of grief, she holds his face and weeps over his body. Unknown to
Rapunzel, her innocent tears have a unique healing quality that lifts the curse off the Prince s eyes.
The Damsel is exemplified many times throughout this fairytale, specifically with the seclusion of
Rapunzel. In many adaptations, Rapunzel has little to no experience with the world surrounding
her tower. She fears escaping the tower out fear of the

PROGNOSTIC IMPRESSIONS AND MEDICAL SOURCE STATEMENT
The American Psychiatric Association recently established the Fifth Edition of the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM V). The new manual represents a step forward in
more precisely identifying and diagnosing mental disorder.
Major Depressive Disorder is common disorder, widely distributed in the population, and usually
associated with substantial symptom severity and functional impairment. The condition can
adversely affect how a person functions in their families, social, occupational and educational
areas of their life. A major depressive episode is characterized by the presence of a severely
depressed mood that persists for at least two weeks. Episodes may present themselves as an
isolated incident or recurrent and are categorized as mild ( few symptoms in excess of minimum
criteria), moderate or severe. An

Induction And Hypnotic Induction
Prior to going directly to the hypnotic induction techniques, it is necessary to know the meaning
of the word induction , and its usage and application in the field of hypnotism; therefore, one
definition was chosen how this word is used in psychology and hypnotism. The Cambridge
Dictionary of Psychology (Matsumoto, 2009) defines the word induction as A form of logical
reasoning in which general principles are inferred from multiple observation , But in term of
psychology it defines the word as Any act or process of bringing about a change, as of inducing a
person into the military, putting someone into a hypnotic state, or producing and electrical current
in a wire .
How Induction works in Hypnosis?

relaxation technique, and imagery techniques. In contrast, Dahl (1994: 82) says that there are two
types of hypnotic inductions techniques authoritarian induction and permissive induction style. He
explains that authoritarian induction technique is a powerful, strong, and commanding style, in
contrast, permissive induction technique is a softer spoken, and persuasive

Theme Of Jealousy In East Of Eden
Jealousy is one of the main reasons for anger and destruction. The rivalry between siblings can
cause extreme feelings of jealousy, which can create a catastrophe. The biblical story of Cain and
Abel shows this when Cain s jealousy brings him to slaughter his brother and his loss of control
ends with deadly consequences. In his novel, East of Eden, John Steinbeck retells the story of Cain
and Abelthrough the relationships between Charles and Adam, as well as through Cal and Aron.
Charles obsessive jealousyover his brother ultimately causes him to try to kill him, and Cal s
overwhelming sense of rivalry causes his father to shun him, as God did to Cain.
The first allusion made to the story of Cain and Abel is through Charles and Adam s relationship.
Charles represents Cain. He is portrayed as evil, manipulative, and jealous. He tries to buy the love
of his father and becomes competitive with Adam when he discovers that Cyrus loves him more.
His jealously drives him to harm Adam. Similarly, Adam represents Abel, the good brother. The
reader sees him as more innocent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast (Genesis 4). This quote can be perfectly
ascribed to John Steinbeck s characters, Cal and Aron. Cal and Aron both try very hard to
impress their father later in life. Aron, representing Abel, offers his good education and potential
in the world. Cal offers money which he gained from a path that Adam did not like. Adam
looked with favor on his good son, Aron. Though Cal tried harder than Aron, his dedication did
not pay off. This sibling rivalry affected Cal, and caused him to become subconsciously jealous of
his brother. He tried to be good by showing Aron their mother, but it ultimately caused his
downfall. The rivalry created by the lack of acceptance from his father caused Cal to kill his
brother in the

Quantitative Positive Disclosures With Quantitative...
Less profitable firms or high debt firms could use SER disclosures to legitimise activities to
lenders and shareholders (Haniffa and Cooke 2005). SERs can be used by managers to frame how
Financial stake holders interpret financial information, specifically to manipulate stakeholders
reaction to disappointing financial reports, by changing the focus and constructing a
disconfirmatory effect on the financial figures (Neu et al., 1998, p.270). Qualitative positive
disclosures with quantitative negative disclosures (Gibbins et al., 1990) can be used as a method
to down play managerial incompetence and persuade financial stakeholders to excuse past
mistakes by using their ethical or socially responsible displays to compensate. This is a contrasting
view to legitimacy theory which emphasizes an organisations need for actions to be perceived by
stakeholders as legitimate (Deegan and Unerman, 2011). In this instance, SERs are used as a
method to manage a situation when the expectations of stakeholders are not met. When an
organisation fails to be perceived as legitimate, they use SERs to demonstrate that it can only
improve upon its past actions and regain legitimacy.
A factor influencing management to produce SERs would be to attract investment funds and take
advantage of the practical market for ethically responsible investment funds (Deegan, 2002). If an
organisation can demonstrate favourable environmental performance they are more likely to be
approved to join the Dow

Claudel s Bronze Statue Analysis
Claudel completed his 1 foot 4 and 7/8 inch bronze statue in 1895. The piece is now being kept
in a private Paris home. Due to the bronze, the statue is dying a slow painful death. The piece has
Bronze Disease, which is the green moss looking substance polluting the surface of the statue.
The disease acts like rust, so if left untreated the statue will be ruined. The positives are bronze is
harder, fusible (easier t melt) and can pick up the detail when in the process of casting, giving the
statue the exquisite look it has. The sculptor, Claudel, would have had to use the bronze wax
casting method to produce this piece. The details of the couple s graceful movements are perfectly

Abraham Lincoln s Beliefs
Some have said that Abraham Lincoln s beliefs are a mystery. He himself has never proclaimed
his beliefs but a lot can be determined by his actions and words. Through observation, there have
been quite a lot of conclusions to his faith. Some conclusions are: skepticism, deism, Christianity,
theism, fatalism, and even atheism. It s an on going debate for the conclusion to his faith
although we won t be able to ever prove exactly what his beliefs were since he never made a
profession, there are many facts leading to his belief in a personal savior.
Among the conclusions, skepticism is one of many. In his earlier years, he was a known skeptic
and he is often remembered as a skeptic because of his earlier quotes (George). Despite his firm
belief in God, proved by the references to God and the Bible in the Second Inaugural Address,
some say that he was just trying to please the audience even though what he said is not what the
people wanted to hear (Calhoun and Morel). Lincoln may have been a skeptic at a young age,
but he showed reliance on God later in life. James Smith said that he was inclined to believe that
Lincoln was a skeptic but unlike most skeptics, he was a constant reader of the Bible (Lind, 51).
He showed no skepticism as the president, he only showed his reliance on God and his unfailing
word.
Another belief was that Lincoln was a deist. Possibly because he never made a profession of faith
and he never officially joined a church but this is not a sound argument.

The Third Man By Richard Rodriguez
The small city of Brownsville is small in both population and mind. Even though there are
individuals who commute morning and night from country to country, there is no unity. Growing
up, I had never experienced a diverse city. In the city of Brownsville, Hispanics are the majority. As
a result, individuals who saw somebody of a different race or ethnicity would make negative and
offensive comments towards them. At times, these offensive comments were accidental. Other
times, the offensive comments were on purpose and intended to appear humorous to friends. Apart
from discriminatory remarks to outsiders, this happened amongst people of my Hispaniccommunity.

One day in the 1960s, the success of the Negro Civil Rights movement encouraged Hispanics
(along with other groups of Americans) to insist on the coveted black analogy, and thus claim the
spoils of affirmative action.
The coveted black analogy , which Rodriguez states that Hispanics insist[ed] on, can be viewed as
an acknowledgment to the suffering that African Americans experienced. Due to this struggle,
African Americans were one of the primary groups that affirmative action was meant to help. As a
result, Rodriguez implies that by seeing the benefits that African Americans were receiving,
Hispanics wanted to be included as well. In Rodriguez s perspective, this led Hispanics to claim the
spoils of affirmative action even though they were not the group that affirmative action was initially
geared toward.
Overall, the chapter, which focuses on Hispanicity , impacted me because I began to formulate
ideas which opposed those that had been hammered into my mind all my life. For so long I had
heard that minorities were victims to oppression by whites and for that reason minorities should
strive to do more than what is expected from them. In reading Rodriguez s claim, questions that
had never been explored in my development arose in my mind such as Are Hispanics really the
victims? , Do Hispanics truly strive to their fullest to accomplish things that have never been done?
, and lastly, Are Hispanics committing acts of hypocrisy? . If a Hispanic

Application Of A Digital Certificate
Joel Abstract: When one submits a request for information to a service, it being a HTTP or a

it claims to be (Rouse, 2013). In public key encryption, the verification of the public key origin
is especially important when one is submitting encrypted information over the internet which it
may be sensitive. Digital Certificates are the main method to verify identity of entities holding
public keys rendering services over the internet (Image 1) (Rouse, 2013). Image 1 Accepting

О”= mx22EI+c1x+c2
Now we work out the values for c1 and c2, we do this by looking at the boundary conditions. These
are:
1. x=0, О”=0
2. x=l, О”=0
Using the first set of conditions we realise that: c2=0 Using the second set of condition we realise
that: c1=ml2EI Subbing these into the full equation, we get:
О”= mx22EI+mlx2EI
Finally, we want to measure the deflection at a point where it is a maximum. Because this is a
symmetrically loaded beam, the point where max deflection occurs is at the centre, where x=l/2.
Subbing this into the equation we get:
О”= ml28EI+ml24EI
When calculating the experimental axial stress, we used the formula: Пѓaxial=E1
ОЅ2Г—Оµax+ОЅ.Оµtr When calculating Оµx, Оµy and П„xy using the rosette strain gauges, we
use the following set of simultaneous equations: Оµ1=
ОµxcosО±2+ОµysinО±2+П„xysinО±cosО± Оµ2= ОµxcosОІ2+ОµysinОІ2+П„xysinОІcosОІ
Оµ3= ОµxcosП•2+ОµysinП•2+П„xysinП•cosП•
Where Оµ1, Оµ2 and Оµ3 are the measurements from the rosette gauges and О±, ОІ and П• are the
angles each strain gauge makes to the axis of the beam.
When analyzing the mohr circle, we used an equation to calculate the centre of the circle, and an
equation to calculate the radius of the circle. Here they are: c=Оµx+Оµy2 for the centre and :
r=(Оµx+Оµy)22+П„xy22 for the radius of the circle.

The Birth Narrative Of Jesus Christ
As children many of us were told or taught the birth narrative of Jesus Christ. The story was
much simpler, Mary the wife of Joseph was told by Gabriel the angel she was in favor of God
because she had been faithful to him. Though Mary was a virgin God preformed a miracle and
Mary bore a child. He was born in manger and surrounded by shepherds and wise men who
brought gifts to their new savior. For most of us that is the story of Jesuss birth and in the New
Testament Matthew and Luke tell a similar story, but reading the text the audience can find some
subtle and significant differences. In this paper I will discuss the implications of reading both
Matthew and Luke. Conferring my research to what is presented within the New Testament I
will argue that Matthew and Luke told the story that they had heard from oral tradition and this
can prove that the basic facts of both gospels are mainly true but are changed through
generations. To first understand my thesis, we must know the story of Matthew and Luke. To
begin I will focus on the differences of Matthew and follow with Luke. 1:1 1:17 establishes the
genealogy of Jesus1. Matthew follows his ancestry to Abraham, the father of Isaac2. He continues
with the son Jacob the father of Judah and so on3. Matthew s story also contains a set of main
characters: Joseph, Mary, Wise men, and Herod the Great4, and a very well known location,
Bethlehem. As our childhood story was told Mary, the virgin, was blessed with a miracle. Joseph

Female Betrayal in The Winter s Tale compared to Iago in...
The Winter s Tale and Othello, both by William Shakespeare, contain fantasies of female betrayal.
In both play s these fantasies are aggregated by something, be it Iago in Othello or Hermione s
pregnancy in The Winter s Tale. Iago confronts Othello in act 3.3, eluding to his wife s betrayal.
Both Othello and Leontes have a seemingly sudden onset of jealousy. However, Othellos jealousy
forms later in the play than Leontes . This is important when comparing the two because there are
acts of the play showing Othello s nature and character which do not point towards jealousy or
concern for his wife s conduct. Othello s lack of jealousy, in the beginning, can be seen in act 3.3,

Leontes first lines of jealousy seem to appear at line 109, Too hot, too hot!/ To mingle friendship
far is mingling bloods. Leontes says this aside in response to Hermione calling Polixenes a

mean lover. Leontes goes on to ask Mamillius twice if he is his son. Leontes believes that this
friendship could have already gone too far, where the line between friends and lovers is blurred.
The mingling of blood is referring to the mixing of Polixenes and Hermione s DNA to produce
the baby with which she is currently impregnated. So this affair must have happened many
months ago as Hermione is far along in her pregnancy. Leontes main concerns here are his pride
and his power. Leontes need children to continue his families reign, a situation that becomes more
dire once Mamillius dies. Leontes clearly had no thoughts of an affair before Hermione is able to
convince Polixenes to stay, as Leontes tried to get Polixenes to stay before her. Then maybe
Leontes jealousy started when Hermione proved herself more persuasive. This jealousy could stir
not from the fear of matters of the heart but of the fear of Hermione s ability to manipulate Leontes,
just as he had seen her manipulate Polixenes into staying. Othello and Leontes have issues with
trust. Othello trust to much

The Problem Of Bad Debts
INTRODUCTION
The accumulation of huge NPA in banks has assumed great importance. The depth of the problem
of bad debts was first realised only in early 1990s. The magnitude of NPAs in banks and financial
institution is over Rs. 150000 cr.
So gross NPA reflects the quality of the loans made by banks, net NPA shows the actual burden of
banks. Now it is increasingly evident that the major defaulters are the big borrowers coming from
the initiative to reduce NPAs in a time bound strategic approach.
Public sector banks figure prominently in the debate not only because they dominate the banking
industries, but also since they have much larger NPAs compared with the private sector banks.
This raises a concern in the industry and academia because it is generally felt that NPAs reduce the
profitability of a banks, weaken its financial health and erode its solvency.
For the recovery of NPAs a board framework has evolved for the management of NPA under
which several options are provided for debt recovery and restructuring. Banks and FIs have the
freedom to design and implement their own policies for recovery and write off incorporating
compromise and negotiate settlements.
DEFINITION
An asset, including a leased asset, becomes non performing when it ceases to generate income for
the bank.
A non performing asset (NPA) was defined as a credit facility in respect of which the interest and

Disadvantages of using Surveys The significance of the data can become neglected if the
researcher focuses too much on the range of coverage to the exclusion of an adequate account of
the implications of those data for relevant issues, problems, or theories. The data that are

response rate to a survey can be hard to control, particularly when it is carried out by post, but is
also difficult when the survey is carried out face to face or over the telephone. 4.1.4

One example is to see how air resistance affects the acceleration of an object in motion. Using a
paper cup, we could put it in a vacuum, in a classroom at room temperature and in a windy spot.
Then, using the spark timer device we could measure the displacement, then calculate the velocity
and acceleration. The independent variable would be changing the air conditions and the
dependent variable would be the acceleration. Furthermore, there are questions that could be
investigated from this lab. How does height affect an object in free fall? Is the acceleration for
free fall ever positive? What is the free fall acceleration for other planets and how is that

Analysis Of Cien AГ±os De Soledad
Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez a su pueblo natal, Aracataca.
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on The Punishments of the Medieval era
The Punishments of the Medieval Era When Shakespeare was born in 1564, Queen Elizabeth
had taken power a mere 6 years prior, and her justice system was very different from ours. In this
paper, I hope to explore some of the ways punishments were different, such as how many crimes
had individual punishments, often times depending on how severe the crime was. I will also go
in depth to one of the most infamous cases of the medieval period. Imprisonment was very rare.
If you were in jail, you were there because you were on trial, and you weren t allowed to return
home. Trials were very brief and if you were charged of a felony or treason, you weren t allowed to
have a lawyer. Unsurprisingly, trials were quick, with extremely... Show more content on

The chair would be continuously lowered and raised into a river, as I previously mentioned. The
Cucking stool often drew in large crowds people who would laugh at the person. People who
would be stubborn and not speak at their hearings would be forced to lie on their backs on top of
a large pointy stone, while stones would be continuously put on wooden boards on their chests
until the weight eventually crushed them. Thieves were slightly odd in the medieval times as
far as they re punishments went. Thieves could get their first sentences reduced if they had
learned of the benefits of becoming a member of the clergy. These benefits were lost if these
people were repeat offenders. The theft of farm animals, which was considered a smaller crime,
they would have their left hand burned as a permanent mark of shame. This also would occur if
they had broken into another man s home, but this man didn t feel as if his life was in danger
from the break in. Repeat offenders were sentenced to death. In addition to all of these, people
who took their own lives were to buried with a stake shoved through their graves. At the end of
my look into how justice was served back in Shakespeare s time, I ll give a brief examination of
what many people think of when they hear something about Medieval times, Torture. When John
Gerad, a priest/spy, was captured by Queen Elizabeth s guard, he was spent 3 years in captivity,

Gm Crops And Its Effects On Our Health
GM Crops Essay
GM Crops are you unknowingly consuming these mutated fruit and vegetables in your diet? And
what affect do these mutations have on our health; do they have any effect on our health? GM
crops are plants whose genetic structure has been transmogrified and improved by the act of
biological genetic engineering. Genetically modifying crops involves extracting a gene from one
organism and inserting it into another. The purpose of the genetic engineering is to either
improve the structure of the organism or to improve their yields. GM has many advantageous
effects which include: producing more pest resistant crops, increasing the production yield of the
crops and many people also argue that GM crops have a superior flavour and texture than normal
crops. Conversely there are numerous disadvantages to the use of GM crops which include: an
increased risk of allergic reactions since the extracted genes may be extracted from a product
which certain people are allergic to, and this may not be made clear on the packaging or the
consumers may lack the appropriate knowledge. Yet another vitally important positive is that GM
Crops have the ability to reduce the factors of starvation and increase our diets nutritional value.
The Scottish government have recently introduced a formal ban on the genetic modification of
crops in Britain. But why? What conceivable negativity could be brought about by the introduction
of GM crops?

WickID Candles is a candle company that features customizable candles that can define a person s
mood or personality hence the ID in the name. This franchise currently has twenty five stores in
five states (North Carolina, Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, and Washington). WickID Candles
has 500 employees that work in one of our five departments. The departments vary from sales,

If WickID Candles implements the BYOD plan, each employee would be able to use their
personal cell phones for work purposes. They will be used to keep up with the workplace
environment at home or whenever they are out of the office. This will allow to them have access
to personal work data whether via their work email or access to the company s personal sites.
With BYOD, employees would be able to use their mobile devices to interact with customers,
manage accounts, and even create new aspects of our online store. This plan would potentially give
workers the flexibility to work at the leisure of their homes and to continue to work without being
tied to the office. Our goal is that this will increase engagement with customers and increase work
productivity. IBM states that there are three main benefits of BYOD. There s an increase in
productivity and innovation, employees are satisfied, and the company can sometimes save money.
Keep in mind that the benefits all depend on the situation. When employees are motivated to work,
productivity is high. According to IBM, employees are more comfortable with their personal
phones and tend to have upgraded versions. The enterprise will then benefit from the latest features
on the employees phones allowing them to be more productive. With that,

Scientific Methods Are Important When Studying The Natural...
Scientific methods are important when studying the natural world. This is because it is essential to
understand the methods in which discoveries were made in order to make new discoveries from the
data already presented. Understanding scientific methods is essential when studying all types of
science. The scientific methodimportant because it helps establish a common denominator with all
scientific research. It is not a fixed path, but it creates a general form for scientists to follow when
making scientific investigations. There can always be unexpected data and the natural world may
surpass the general form that the scientific method provides, but it is still a useful tool for scientists
to use (Tarbuc Lutgens, 2015). Following the scientific method in general make it easier for future
scientists to understand what happened and why in an experiment. The different steps of the
general scientific method give scientists a great outline to follow when making scientific inquiries
about the natural world.
In order to understand the scientific method fully, it is necessary to know the different steps. There
are six steps: ask a question, do background research, construct a hypothesis, test your hypothesis by
dong an experiment, analyze your data and draw a conclusion, and communicate your results
(Science Buddies, 2002). These steps are very general, but can be very useful to follow in order to
make sure data is not lost. On the next page is a diagram showing the steps in

was the case, surely his non interference would only help Ali to grow. In Ali s first week at work,
he found the atmosphere at the office a bit dull. However, he was quite excited. The team had
been assigned a new project and was facing a few glitches with the new software. He thought
about the problem till late in the night and had come up with several possible solutions. Ali could
not wait to discuss them with the team and Ashish. Ali smiled to himself when he thought of how
Ashish would react when he told him that he had come up with several possible solutions to the
problem. He was sure he would be happy with him having put in so much effort into the project,
right from day one. Ali was daydreaming about all the praise that he was going to get when
Ashish walked into the office. Ali waited for him to go into his workplace, and after five minutes,
called him up, asking to see him. He asked Ali to come in after ten minutes. When Ali went in,

  • 3. Joseph Stalin s Language In Animal Farm George Orwell s novel, Animal Farm, is an extensive allegory for the Russian Revolution using farm animals that have human characteristics. When referencing communist Russia, Orwell had to mimic the words and phrases that strengthened Joseph Stalin s reign. George Orwell emphasizes the power a dictator s language can have by incorporating the Beasts of England song to rally the revolution, the Seven Commandments to establish order, and the animals chants to reinforce the dictator s control. The first inclusion of language is the Beasts of England song. At the beginning of the story, Old Major sings his vision of a better world to the farm animals, while parodying The International, a French song that inspired the communist movement (Soviet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many animals on the farm have short catchphrases that they recite over and over because they have a terrible memory. Due to the other animal s lack of intelligence, the pigs take advantage of them to gain more power. The text supports this when Boxer constantly insists, It must be due to some fault in ourselves. The solution, as I see it, is to work harder (85). Boxer s chants show his mindset of being completely committed to following Napoleon s leadership. His chants masked his inability to think for himself and care for his health, thus, it ultimately led to his detriment. Napoleon s authority was also demonstrated by the sheep, [Napoleon] was especially successful with the sheep... they were liable to break into four legs good, two legs bad at crucial moments in Snowball s speeches (47). A herd of sheep has always been used as a metaphor for people who mindlessly follow their leader. Squealer teaches the sheep sayings to implant beliefs into the farm animal s minds. This method of persuasion is similar to the propaganda tactics used by the Russian media during Joseph Stalin s dictatorship. Stalin made sure that every resident was influenced by the continuous messages from the radio, posters, newspapers, and other form of media. According to Alabama Agri culture Statistics supplied by the United States Department of Agriculture, Alabama was ranked 3rd in broiler production, 2nd in catfish sales and 14th in egg production in 2011. Although the number of farms has drastically dropped from about 225,000 farms spanning over 22 million acres in 1950 to 50,000 farms spanning 7.5 million acres in 2010, Alabama still remains a leader in the field of agriculture. This treatment of animal waste is dangerous and could lead to serious consequences. For example, the organoarsenicals in fertilizer are consumed by poultry, high levels of arsenic are found in the tissue of animals, and then poultry waste is used as a fertilizer. The incineration causes arsenic to be released into the air, this is an issue for communities surrounding the area. This constant entrance of organoarsenicals into the environ ment causes a risk for soil and groundwater becomes of less quality. In the United States 61% of farmers sell litter based fertilizers and 23% use their own animal waste as soil fertilizer (Kiranma yi). The use of animal waste as fertilizer is a positively impactful option for the environment when treated with care and managed properly. It is easier to manage on small farms as the farm ers can simply move their animals around the acreage spreading the waste equally. This technique keeps the waste light on one spot allowing it to not overwhelm the soil. However, it is also crucial to consider the chemicals inside the waste, and currently it is not cost effective for large scale farmers or CAFOs to use environmentally friendly fertilizers and animal feed. Farmers also put antibiotics into their animals to speed up growth, these antibiotics contribute to the waste prob lem (Tasho). They pass through the animal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Benefits And Benefits Of Pay And Reward Strategies Several pay and reward strategies can be adopted by organisations. However, each of the strategies involves issues that must be considered as it could affect the employees and the organisation. Therefore, it is vital that each organisation implement and develop certain pay and reward strategies, which are aligned with its own business strategies. This will ensure that perspectives of employees, employers and the costs are all considered in the course of the application of each strategy. In the year 2000, the first touch screen phone was introduced and people who loved technology were amazed by this cellphone technology that did not required a physical keypad to work or access the cellphone main menu, although not that many special features were added to this cellphone besides the digital touch screen tech lovers fell in love with this device almost instantly because of the futuristic idea of replacing buttons with a digital touchscreen. Another major and maybe one of the most influential impacts of the smartphones in our society nowadays is a system called face time or video calling, it is supposed to keep friends not just in touch but face to face using a smartphone device to see each other live. Personally, I believe face time isn t really that bad when it comes to staying in touch with friends who live far away but I have also noticed some friends who live maybe 1 mile or 2 away from each other using face time instead to going to each other s houses and have a conversation and enjoy friendship like in good old times now with this technology that it supposed to be facilitating our lives seems to be depriving us from life itself. In Conclusion, I would first like to state that the reason I feel this way about smartphones is because I used to depend on the use of my smartphone more than the use of any other book, the opinion of any other person, or sometimes common sense itself. I had become addicted to the use of my smartphone and didn t know I was excessively using my device to accomplish tasks that I would do before without the need of this device, ... • 8. Doryphoros Essay Doryphoros by Polykleitos was originally a Greek bronze made around 450 40B.C. The only way we can see it today is through the Roman marble copies (which is common of many Greek statues.) Some supports had to be added for the change in material, resulting in the addition of the form resembling a tree trunk, the support on the left foot, and the small bar bridging the gap between his right wrist and hip. Doryphoros was originally holding a spear in his left hand; appropriate, given that his name means, literally, spear bearer. The sculpture is a well known and early example of classical Greek contrapposto (the shifting of weight onto one leg and off axis shoulders and arms.) One leg nearly appears to be lifting off the ground, giving the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plato felt that artists knew nothing worth mentioning because all they do is imitate, and so their work was worthless. Additionally, Plato believed that we, as humans not of the metaphysical realm, can not know what true beauty is because we have not experienced the true, beautiful form of anything. Plato would say that Doryphoros was worthless for those very reasons. It is an imitation of a perfect form, and therefore cannot be beautiful. Although Doryphoros is anatomically and proportionally realistic, Plato would not be appreciative of it as art and would not see it as an object of beauty. He would likely scorn Polykleitos for even bothering to sculpt it in the first place. To examine the thoughts of another Greek philosopher, Aristotlewould have a much different perspective on Doryphoros. Aristotle felt that imitation was natural for us as humans. He felt that we could learn from imagery that is realistic because it may influence us to examine it more closely. He felt that the creative individual could express the universal, fundamental qualities of human nature, and did not see their work as worthless as Plato did. Therefore, I decided to focus on the issue of accepting gifts from the clients in the health services because I am a nurse by profession and I usually come across with this issue. In my opinion, it is a debatable question that whether the professionals accept gifts or not and it is controversial. It varies from discipline to discipline and person to person perspectives (Krassner, 2004). Webster s Third New International Dictionary (Gove, 1993) defines a giftas ... Therefore, appropriateness of the gifts can be determined by their type, financial value, its timing, content, frequency, intention of the giver, insight of the receiver and its effect on the giver, receiver or anyone else who may affected by the gift giving (Zur, 2007; Caddell Hazelton, 2013 ). Gifts are common in the termination session, and a gift at the early stage of therapy need more consideration (Zur, 2012). In my reading I have found that, there are three general categories of gifts. First one, gift is considered as a tip to the professional who have a good personalized service in the restaurant or a health professional providing care that is beyond the call of duty . Second one, gifts are given to address the perceived imbalance in the professional relationship. Third one, gift act as a sacrifice or respect to the professional such as signing in the forms for the specific benefit to the client (Gerig, 2014). These gifts mostly represent gratitude and appreciation. Sometimes, gift may given as way of manipulating or influence the person such as extra care, spent extra time with the client and so on (Cornock, 2011). In fact, gift giving being a quite common practice in clinical settings (Anderson, 2011). I read in the article that, gift giving is a form of communication. Apart from that, gift giving ... The Alumni Of The University Council Essay Engaged to improve the experiences of other like minded individuals As we saw in the first subtheme, the Black alumni in this study who are engaged with Cornell are usually engaged through an affinity association in order to spend time with like minded individuals. Those alumni who are also involved in other aspects of Cornell choose to do so in order to address the needs of alumni of color and future students of color or to feel a part of the process of change through holding leadership roles. Malcolm enjoyed being part of university council because it made him feel connected to Cornell. He had an active role in helping the university communicate its mission to other alumni and spent time with other campus leaders with similar goals. He was also involved with interviewing potential students. Now he is only engaged through CBAA. • 11. The As A Vegetarian Based Or Vegan Diet ( Watters ) Vegetarianism has existed for many centuries, but perhaps the most well known vegetarian was Pythagoras. Pythagoras was a philosopher whom educated much of the world on his ideas in life, one at the time being the abstinence of meat. Pythagoras, along with many of his followers, believed that the consumption of meatcould affect the longevity of one s life. Though not everyone believed in Pythagoras opinions, he still had a loyal group of followers. Pythagoras was so widely associated with a meat free diet that the terms vegetarian was not even in use until 1847, when the term pythagorean was changed to vegetarian (Avey). Today, there are 16 million people in America who follow a vegetarian based or vegan diet (Watters). There is a common misconception that the choice to become a vegetarian is based only on a person s love for animals, but there are many other benefits to being a vegetarian. Pythagoras and his followers gave many of the same arguments that people who abstain from meat today support; for example, Pythagoras had the belief that there was a majority of added health benefits from a meatless diet (Avey). Vegetarianism can decrease the risk of cancer along with other health concerns, can solve problems the world presently faces, such as world hunger and animal cruelty and can have positive effects on the environment such as pollution reduction and overgrazing reduction. People need to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle because it will improve public ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This behaviour, often called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a new focus on ethical and social issues (Sen Bhattacharya 2001). CSR leads marketers to the notion of both global and stakeholder responsibility, and an organizational system that begs for sustainability not just to outlast the competition, but to increase customer loyalty, presence in the global market, and a stronger unification with the political bureaucracies. There is a clear integrative framework involved that impacts the idea of sustainable marketing concepts (Maignan Ferrell 2004). She raises the child as her own in a secluded tower without stairs or doors leading to the outside world. As prince is leisurely exploring the forest, he overhears the enchanting singing voice of a young women. He follows the resonance of her melodies and comes across the tower. • 25. Theme Of Jealousy In East Of Eden Jealousy is one of the main reasons for anger and destruction. The rivalry between siblings can cause extreme feelings of jealousy, which can create a catastrophe. The biblical story of Cain and Abel shows this when Cain s jealousy brings him to slaughter his brother and his loss of control ends with deadly consequences. In his novel, East of Eden, John Steinbeck retells the story of Cain and Abelthrough the relationships between Charles and Adam, as well as through Cal and Aron. Charles obsessive jealousyover his brother ultimately causes him to try to kill him, and Cal s overwhelming sense of rivalry causes his father to shun him, as God did to Cain. The first allusion made to the story of Cain and Abel is through Charles and Adam s relationship. Charles represents Cain. He is portrayed as evil, manipulative, and jealous. • 26. Quantitative Positive Disclosures With Quantitative... Less profitable firms or high debt firms could use SER disclosures to legitimise activities to lenders and shareholders (Haniffa and Cooke 2005). SERs can be used by managers to frame how Financial stake holders interpret financial information, specifically to manipulate stakeholders reaction to disappointing financial reports, by changing the focus and constructing a disconfirmatory effect on the financial figures (Neu et al., 1998, p.270). Qualitative positive disclosures with quantitative negative disclosures (Gibbins et al., 1990) can be used as a method to down play managerial incompetence and persuade financial stakeholders to excuse past mistakes by using their ethical or socially responsible displays to compensate. This is a contrasting view to legitimacy theory which emphasizes an organisations need for actions to be perceived by stakeholders as legitimate (Deegan and Unerman, 2011). In this instance, SERs are used as a method to manage a situation when the expectations of stakeholders are not met. When an organisation fails to be perceived as legitimate, they use SERs to demonstrate that it can only improve upon its past actions and regain legitimacy. A factor influencing management to produce SERs would be to attract investment funds and take advantage of the practical market for ethically responsible investment funds (Deegan, 2002). Through observation, there have been quite a lot of conclusions to his faith. Some conclusions are: skepticism, deism, Christianity, theism, fatalism, and even atheism. It s an on going debate for the conclusion to his faith although we won t be able to ever prove exactly what his beliefs were since he never made a profession, there are many facts leading to his belief in a personal savior. Among the conclusions, skepticism is one of many. In his earlier years, he was a known skeptic and he is often remembered as a skeptic because of his earlier quotes (George). Despite his firm belief in God, proved by the references to God and the Bible in the Second Inaugural Address, some say that he was just trying to please the audience even though what he said is not what the people wanted to hear (Calhoun and Morel). Lincoln may have been a skeptic at a young age, but he showed reliance on God later in life. James Smith said that he was inclined to believe that Lincoln was a skeptic but unlike most skeptics, he was a constant reader of the Bible (Lind, 51). The coveted black analogy , which Rodriguez states that Hispanics insist[ed] on, can be viewed as an acknowledgment to the suffering that African Americans experienced. Due to this struggle, African Americans were one of the primary groups that affirmative action was meant to help. These are: 1. x=0, О”=0 2. x=l, О”=0 Using the first set of conditions we realise that: c2=0 Using the second set of condition we realise that: c1=ml2EI Subbing these into the full equation, we get: О”= mx22EI+mlx2EI Finally, we want to measure the deflection at a point where it is a maximum. Because this is a symmetrically loaded beam, the point where max deflection occurs is at the centre, where x=l/2. Subbing this into the equation we get: О”= ml28EI+ml24EI When calculating the experimental axial stress, we used the formula: Пѓaxial=E1 ОЅ2Г—Оµax+ОЅ.Оµtr When calculating Оµx, Оµy and П„xy using the rosette strain gauges, we use the following set of simultaneous equations: Оµ1= ОµxcosО±2+ОµysinО±2+П„xysinО±cosО± Оµ2= ОµxcosОІ2+ОµysinОІ2+П„xysinОІcosОІ Оµ3= ОµxcosП•2+ОµysinП•2+П„xysinП•cosП• Where Оµ1, Оµ2 and Оµ3 are the measurements from the rosette gauges and О±, ОІ and П• are the angles each strain gauge makes to the axis of the beam. • 38. The Birth Narrative Of Jesus Christ As children many of us were told or taught the birth narrative of Jesus Christ. The story was much simpler, Mary the wife of Joseph was told by Gabriel the angel she was in favor of God because she had been faithful to him. Though Mary was a virgin God preformed a miracle and Mary bore a child. He was born in manger and surrounded by shepherds and wise men who brought gifts to their new savior. For most of us that is the story of Jesuss birth and in the New Testament Matthew and Luke tell a similar story, but reading the text the audience can find some subtle and significant differences. In this paper I will discuss the implications of reading both Matthew and Luke. Conferring my research to what is presented within the New Testament I will argue that Matthew and Luke told the story that they had heard from oral tradition and this can prove that the basic facts of both gospels are mainly true but are changed through generations. To first understand my thesis, we must know the story of Matthew and Luke. To begin I will focus on the differences of Matthew and follow with Luke. 1:1 1:17 establishes the genealogy of Jesus1. Matthew follows his ancestry to Abraham, the father of Isaac2. He continues with the son Jacob the father of Judah and so on3. Matthew s story also contains a set of main characters: Joseph, Mary, Wise men, and Herod the Great4, and a very well known location, Bethlehem. As our childhood story was told Mary, the virgin, was blessed with a miracle. Joseph ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Female Betrayal in The Winter s Tale compared to Iago in... The Winter s Tale and Othello, both by William Shakespeare, contain fantasies of female betrayal. In both play s these fantasies are aggregated by something, be it Iago in Othello or Hermione s pregnancy in The Winter s Tale. Iago confronts Othello in act 3.3, eluding to his wife s betrayal. Both Othello and Leontes have a seemingly sudden onset of jealousy. However, Othellos jealousy forms later in the play than Leontes . This is important when comparing the two because there are acts of the play showing Othello s nature and character which do not point towards jealousy or concern for his wife s conduct. Othello s lack of jealousy, in the beginning, can be seen in act 3.3, line 188, The smallest fear or doubt of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the footnotes of The Complete Pelican Shakespeare it is said that friend can also mean lover. Leontes goes on to ask Mamillius twice if he is his son. Leontes believes that this friendship could have already gone too far, where the line between friends and lovers is blurred. The mingling of blood is referring to the mixing of Polixenes and Hermione s DNA to produce the baby with which she is currently impregnated. So this affair must have happened many months ago as Hermione is far along in her pregnancy. Leontes main concerns here are his pride and his power. Leontes need children to continue his families reign, a situation that becomes more dire once Mamillius dies. Leontes clearly had no thoughts of an affair before Hermione is able to convince Polixenes to stay, as Leontes tried to get Polixenes to stay before her. Then maybe Leontes jealousy started when Hermione proved herself more persuasive. This jealousy could stir not from the fear of matters of the heart but of the fear of Hermione s ability to manipulate Leontes, just as he had seen her manipulate Polixenes into staying. The magnitude of NPAs in banks and financial institution is over Rs. 150000 cr. So gross NPA reflects the quality of the loans made by banks, net NPA shows the actual burden of banks. Now it is increasingly evident that the major defaulters are the big borrowers coming from the initiative to reduce NPAs in a time bound strategic approach. Public sector banks figure prominently in the debate not only because they dominate the banking industries, but also since they have much larger NPAs compared with the private sector banks. This raises a concern in the industry and academia because it is generally felt that NPAs reduce the profitability of a banks, weaken its financial health and erode its solvency. For the recovery of NPAs a board framework has evolved for the management of NPA under which several options are provided for debt recovery and restructuring. Banks and FIs have the freedom to design and implement their own policies for recovery and write off incorporating compromise and negotiate settlements. DEFINITION An asset, including a leased asset, becomes non performing when it ceases to generate income for the bank. Essay on The Punishments of the Medieval era The Punishments of the Medieval Era When Shakespeare was born in 1564, Queen Elizabeth had taken power a mere 6 years prior, and her justice system was very different from ours. In this paper, I hope to explore some of the ways punishments were different, such as how many crimes had individual punishments, often times depending on how severe the crime was. I will also go in depth to one of the most infamous cases of the medieval period. Imprisonment was very rare. If you were in jail, you were there because you were on trial, and you weren t allowed to return home. Trials were very brief and if you were charged of a felony or treason, you weren t allowed to have a lawyer. Unsurprisingly, trials were quick, with extremely... Thieves were slightly odd in the medieval times as far as they re punishments went. Thieves could get their first sentences reduced if they had learned of the benefits of becoming a member of the clergy. These benefits were lost if these people were repeat offenders. The theft of farm animals, which was considered a smaller crime, they would have their left hand burned as a permanent mark of shame. And what affect do these mutations have on our health; do they have any effect on our health? GM crops are plants whose genetic structure has been transmogrified and improved by the act of biological genetic engineering. Genetically modifying crops involves extracting a gene from one organism and inserting it into another. The purpose of the genetic engineering is to either improve the structure of the organism or to improve their yields. GM has many advantageous effects which include: producing more pest resistant crops, increasing the production yield of the crops and many people also argue that GM crops have a superior flavour and texture than normal crops. Conversely there are numerous disadvantages to the use of GM crops which include: an increased risk of allergic reactions since the extracted genes may be extracted from a product which certain people are allergic to, and this may not be made clear on the packaging or the consumers may lack the appropriate knowledge. Yet another vitally important positive is that GM Crops have the ability to reduce the factors of starvation and increase our diets nutritional value. The Scottish government have recently introduced a formal ban on the genetic modification of crops in Britain. But why? Understanding scientific methods is essential when studying all types of science. The scientific methodimportant because it helps establish a common denominator with all scientific research. It is not a fixed path, but it creates a general form for scientists to follow when making scientific investigations. There can always be unexpected data and the natural world may surpass the general form that the scientific method provides, but it is still a useful tool for scientists to use (Tarbuc Lutgens, 2015). The different steps of the general scientific method give scientists a great outline to follow when making scientific inquiries about the natural world. In order to understand the scientific method fully, it is necessary to know the different steps. There are six steps: ask a question, do background research, construct a hypothesis, test your hypothesis by dong an experiment, analyze your data and draw a conclusion, and communicate your results (Science Buddies, 2002).
