However, when certain options are exercised, companies receive a tax deduction, which can provide
significant income tax savings. There are two arguments that you ll commonly find against the use of
stock options: Dilution of ownership and overstatement of operating income. When an employee
exercises her stock options, the company has to either issue new shares or go out on the open market
and purchase shares. If new shares are issued, then your ownership is diluted. If the company
purchases shares on the open market, then the company, which only receives the exercise price from
the employee, has to pay market price for the shares it purchases. This results in a net cash outflow for
the company. Since the impact of the compensation deduction that a corporation can claim for tax
purposes is not included in a company s GAAP income, many take the view that using options enables
the company to overstate its income. Risks to Dell shareholders: Dell Share holders bear the risk in the
form of cost of potentially issuing the stock at below market values if the employees do convert the
options into stock when the options are in the money. However, if the options expires out of the
money, the shareholders realize equally better benefits. In this case, the firm obtains labor from
employees without having paid for the labor by issuing shares. The employee stock options provides a

Wal-Mart Is The Epicenter For Commercial Distribution,
Wal Mart is the epicenter for commercial distribution, corporate standards, and systematic buyer seller

there, they are all the same. Huge, ugly buildings that sell everything for the lowest price they can

the background like chess pieces on a black and white board. When writing a review of the working

Again, no big deal until, that is, ten other people have to do the same thing, and suddenly the parking
lot is a chaotic storm of nomadic vehicles being driven by irritated people because some animal
couldn t put their cart away. Additionally, carts may roll around on the pavement, bashing into
vehicles, damaging property, and just overall being a nuisance. None of these issues, however, are the
biggest ones caused by this act of negligence. By choosing not to put their carts away, customers are
saying that such an action is beneath them and can be done by an employee in short, someone lesser
than them, (the customer.) It is degrading to the employee, and overall disrespectful, particularly
during times of bad weather. Because someone did not feel like putting away something which they
had used for their own convenience, someone else now has to walk around an icy parking lot in sub
zero temperatures putting the carts away for hours on end. This relates to an ethos based thinking, as it
is an ethical issue but of course, no one thinks about that and if they do, they cover it up by saying
That s the employee s job. It is a fireman s job to put out fires, but does that mean arson is an
acceptable practice? Leaving carts behind in the parking lot is disrespectful to the employees, yes, but
it goes beyond that, as well. How do these people act in other aspects of life? For instance, do they

Student Republican Party Platform Essay
Preamble
The dawn of a new millennium is upon us and we, the Republican Party, are fully prepared to meet the
challenges that await us. This past century, due to the resilience and determination of the American
people, our country has experienced more growth and prosperity than any other nation in recorded
history. However, dark challenges threaten the moral fiber of this great nation. The past eight years,
under Clinton s leadership, the national government has lacked the fortitude to effectively battle the
dangerously extremist trends that have gradually forced their way into the American culture. In order
for America to be the great nation it once was, the Republican Party must be in power.
The Republican Party has a vision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this reduction we have rekindled the belief in the American dream. Economic prosperity and
sound moral and family values have begun to be reinstated in all arenas of American life.
We believe there should be less government intrusion in the lives of Americans because only the
American people can decide what is best for them. We stand for a rollback of federal government
paternalism and intervention and instead call for an increased roll of the individual and a revitalization
of the American tradition of entrepreneurial innovation. The rise of the Republican Party to national
prominence will allow us to realize these goals and restore America to its former glory.
Federal Minimum Wage
We the Republican Party support the American workforce knowing that the future of the country rests
on a strong economy. To insure economic prosperity it is imperative that states have the freedom to act
accordingly to its economy. We as Americans, as workers, and as taxpayers should seek to quiet the
anxiety over labor and wages. We cannot be held to a standard that blankets the whole nation when it
is evident that each state is different. States must be allowed to evaluate the conditions of their
economy, unemployment, growth and other relative demographics and then should have the ability to
set the minimum wage.
The Republican Party strongly believes that government

On the Brink of Extinction Essay
Introduction
Biodiversity is the grand diversity of all life on Earth and the interconnections that support these forms
of life. This astonishing diversity supports the human existence by providing numerous priceless
resources such as food, fuel, and medicine. Many of these resources can not be duplicated by the
human race. For these reasons it is obvious that the environment and the biodiversity that it supports
are detrimental to human survival. There is one major problem that is growing each day, and that is the
amount of biodiversity, along with the services and benefits that is provides is diminishing. The study

Site 1: Provo Canyon I chose a site south of the river and about 100 feet above it. The vegetation was
beginning to provide a high level of cover on the ground which made for an even distribution of the
plant life.
Site 2: Rocky Canyon I chose a site north of the canyon and off the trails so that I may find some
undisturbed areas of vegetation. Plant life at Rock Canyon was very diverse as I discovered many new
species during my survey.
Site 3: Wymount Park I chose a site northwest of the Y symbol. The vegetation here seemed to be less
dense and not as plentiful. I observed many more types of sagebrush and grass species that bushes and
shrubs. The diversity was not as abundant as a small number of species seemed to dominate the area.
The procedural steps taken in this research project are straightforward, and remain identical for each
specific site. First, upon arrival map out an area of 15 meters squared using wooden stakes. Then
divide the area into 15 separate 1 meter by 1 meter boxes. Then assign a number to each box and write
the numbers 1 through 15 on small slips of paper. In order to insure randomization, randomly select
three slips of paper and observe these areas. Second, note each individual species in the box and the
number of that species. Record the data, and reference a field guide to give specific names to each
plant species. In order to accurately measure the amount of

The Immense Character Development in Antigone by Sophocles...
Brad Moore, a famous athlete once said, Pride would be a lot easier to swallow if it didn t taste so bad.
In Sophocles well known Greek tragedy, Antigone, the main character undergoes immense character
development. Antigone transforms from being stubborn and underestimated to courageous and open
minded. In reality, it is Antigone s insular persistence that leads to her ultimate decline in the play as
well as others around her. After the death of her two brothers, Eteocles and Polynices, Creon becomes
the new ruler of Thebes. With this, he grants Eteocles an honorable funeral service for his brave
fighting. Claiming that Polynices was a traitor, he shows complete refusal to grant Polynices a
respectable and worthy service. Clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She makes it obvious that she has made her final decision to stand by her brother showing an
extremely poor sense of pride. She will stop at nothing to prove her abilities. Her pride takes over her
thinking and clouds her from using good judgment. Antgone s pride is exaggerated to a point where
her arrogance is causing problems. For instance, it is difficult for her to admit to anything wrong she
has done. Along with her close minded nature, it is Antigone s splendid though perverse valor which
creates the drama (Rose 220). Her excessive pride to save her brother results in chaos for herself as
well as those around her.
Love and bravery for her family is a key factor for her determination to give her brother a proper
burial. She shows immense loyalty and will power as she fights for her family name. Her endurance is
extraordinary as she declares Naturally! Since Zeus never promulgated such a law, nor will you find
that Justice, Mistress of the world below, publishes such laws on humankind. I never thought your
mortal edicts had such force they nullified the laws of heaven... (Sophocles 38). Antigone responds to
Creon s speech and disagrees with his proclamation denying Polynices a funeral. Polynices, hated by
the entire country, is being deprived of an appropriate burial service and Antigone is determined to
honor her brother correctly (Rose 219). The courage she displays is crucial factor in her character
development. The devotion towards helping her brother is

The Jean Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center
Introduction
The Jean Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center was built in 1998 in Noumea, New Caledonia in honor of the
New Caledonian Kanak independence leader, who was assassinated in 1989. The Kanak people are
native to the pacific region and account for 41% of the island s populations. (Piano Building
Workshop)
The Center was built as an undertaking by the French Government during the negotiations of
independence from France. The territory of New Caledonia wanted a Kanak Cultural Centre that
would be dedicated to the future development of the culture as inspired by Jean Marie Tjibaou.
(Architectura) In 1990 as part of France s president at the time, Francois Mitterrand s grand travaux or
grand works , an international invitation only tender was established for the project. The scope of the
brief was broad: the design must honor traditional Kanak culture; while at the same time provide a
focal point for the development of the society. (Fondazione). The aim was to ensure that despite
modern developments the Kanak culture would not lose touch with its historical roots.( Fondazione).
In 1991 an international competition was held and Italian architect, Renzo Piano won. A spectacular
location was found on the Tina peninsula against a background of mountains and promontories jutting
out into Magenta Bay, with the capital city of Noumea to the east and open sea to the west.

Concentration Of Sucrose Affects The Mass Of Potato
Based on the experiment result, it supports my hypothesis that as concentration of sucrose increases
the mass of potato will be decrease due to its temper is to make an equivalent concentration between
the solution and potato. For instance, in the graph that above shows the first one on x axis is the
highest mass of potato that spent 5 days in distilled water. On the other hand, the fourth one is the
lowest mass, which represents 4M sucrose solution of potato. Moreover, the data proves my
prediction, as water molecules from higher sucrose solution of potato moves out actively from the
potato through semi permeable membrane into the sucrose solution. In details, the important evidence
that supports my hypothesis is then the potato will be shrink

Holocaust Death Camps
What were the ways the Nazis killed the Jews? Where were the camps located? Were the camps used
for anything else? Death Camps were built to kill Jews with gas chambers or crematoriums, and were
mostly around Poland. The Nazis used gas chambers and crematoriums to kill the Jews at Death
Camps. At some point in the second half of 1941. Hitler is believed to have given the order to begin
the systematic elimination of all Jews still living in German occupied territory (Downing, David 6).
Gas chambers were one of the two big ways the Nazis killed the Jews. Gas chambers were added in
1942. Each gas chamber was built beneath its own crematorium. It seems probable that at least 1
million Jews perished in the gas chambers (Downing, David 9). Crematoriums ... Show more content

Belzec, Sobibor, and Treblinka were pure Death Camps that is, their only purpose was killing (

major railway lines and near large cities ( Lace, Williams 17). They were sited in Poland for three
reasons. First next to the Soviet Union, Poland had the largest concentration of Jews in Europe, about
4 million ( Lace, William 17). Auschwitz was actually three camps in one: a prison camp, an
extermination camp, and a slave labor camp. It was the most lethal of the Nazi extermination camps
and came to represent the final solution, or the extermination of the Jews.Between 1.1 and 1.5 million
people died at Auschwitz (Britannica School Auschwitz ). Not only did Jews die from getting gassed
or burned, they suffered from hunger and little to no shelter. This meant they were exposed to all the
sickness and cold weather. Those at the camps were subjected to harsh conditions. There was
inadequate shelter and sanitation, and the prisoners were given little food and were overworked. Those
who could no longer work faced transport back to Birkenau for gassing (Britannica School

in the early elementary grades can build on children s informal knowledge by giving them appropriate
vocabulary and opportunities to practice identifying geometric shapes in the classroom and the real
world. These learning activities help students make connections between what happens in and out of
the classroom. They also help children begin to informally develop their concept of spatial sense
through such observations as close and far away. Giving students opportunities to practice developing
their spatial sense will increase their awareness and application of geometric concepts in different
areas of mathematics and other disciplines, including art, science, and social studies. Learning area

Analysis Of Where The Red Fern Grows
Cherish these moments tomorrow they ll be memories ,pinterest said and has a deep meaning to the
story Where the Red Fern Grows. In the story Where the Red Fern Grows the theme is to cherish those
close to you before it s too late. The story is also a good lesson to learn because you never know when
someone vital to your life may die so cherish them while you have them. This quote from pinterest fits
the theme of the story because when Old Dan and Little Ann almost died Billy felt like he should ve
loved them more when they were alive. Without that time in the story the story would be completely
different. This is a wise quote because when Billy got his dogs after working so hard to get them he
knew that once he got the dogs he would remember how he got his dogs forever. That was one of the
most important parts in the story and without them the story would be different. Since the part is in the
story now the part makes a huge impact on the book and that is why that supports my quote and
theme. In the story there were several moments that Billy would remember for the rest of his life .
Billy had multiple lessons he had learned through the course of his life so far, and there will still be
many more lessons to come. There are other pieces to this story that are important to the story. There
is one part in the story where Little Ann and Old Dan nearly died from the winter storm. Without that
time in the story the story would have changed dramatically. Who knows whether

informed choices regarding Joe s care (Glasper et al. 2010). Parental involvement was introduced after
the Platt Report in 1959 which recommended that parents should be allowed to stay with their
hospitalised child. The report has led to significant improvements in interactions between parents of
hospitalised children and the staff who care for them (Priddis and Sheilds 2011). Sousa et al (2013)
carried out a study that found communication between parents and children s nurses is vital. Sousa et
al (2013) found that almost all parents who participated in the questionnaire agreed it was a priority to
get information on their child s health condition. This indicates that is important for nurses to manage
the child and family as a whole holistically (NMC 2015). Catherine

Emerson Mastery
Ralph Waldo Emerson makes a reasonable point when he says that if we can t expand past what we
know, we cannot advance ourselves. While this is true, it is quite broad and should specify what sort
of mastery and growth. What would mastery consist of? Can we truly master anything? What if we
have no need to grow, if we are content having the one mastery? Does one need a mastery to want to
learn more? His statement may be true under certain conditions or if revised to include such outliers,
but as it is, the specifications are too loose. Mastery can present itself in many forms, it isn t concrete.
There isn t just the big milestone where you take a photo and receive a certificate for achievement,

That dog didn t try to reach outside its current level to let the humans know it needed to go out, it was
a reflex response, though it has learned that the bark gets it outside. It has grown without pushing
itself to achieve more. Completely learning something has to happen in stages so that it can be fully
absorbed, so having one mastery before moving to something else is important but some occur at the
same time for better understanding of each as they relate to another. Its like a Chemistry class, you
learn how to completely do one basic formula and what it means before you can move to the next. In a
Chemistry class, you may also learn separate parts at the same time because they tie together later on.
It may seem all over the place but once you get to the end of that class, you have many small
masteries and you have mastered the class as a whole. Emerson also assumes that everyone wants to
expand upon themselves and to experience more, but this is untrue. Often, it is unnecessary to go
beyond what a job or course requires, so people won t push themselves because they don t feel a need
to do so. An old man who has been working in an auto body shop all his life won t see a need to go
learn how to knit or use all the bells and whistles on the smart phone his

Understanding Deaf Culture
Deaf people are often seen incorrectly. According to a legend, a Greek mythical character named
Procrustes, invited tired travelers to rest at his home. Procrustes gave out special accommodations that
fit everyone, regardless of the guests size. When the guest was shorter than the bed Procrustes owned,
Procrustes would stretch the guest s body to fit and when the guest s legs were longer than the bed,
Procrustes would chop off their legs so they would fit the bed. Aimee K. Whyte and Douglas A.
Guiffrida explained the way deaf people are viewed: Deaf people are often stretched or cut short to

In desperation, the weekend before she was required to get up in front of class and recite a poem, the
student went to her mom and asked for help. While her mom could not read the poem either, her mom
always had a good idea. Her mom grabbed the girl s sister to help translate and with the sister s help,
her mother begged their neighbor to help them. The neighbor quickly agreed to help, explaining this
poem was her favorite. She knew storytelling was an important part of learning in the Deaf culture. It
was also the best way for the girl to learn. Rita Colasent, the author of The Power of True Expression
explained the next part of the story as follows, We [the mother and her two daughters] were able to
take what we were learning [about the poem] and match it to our feelings, our own experiences, and
our own insights as the message of the Raven unraveled before our very eyes (Colasent 1996: 378)!
The girl later explained how she was not only telling the story; she also took on the role of the speaker.
The girl s teacher and fellow students were truly amazed at the performance. Her teacher was very
impressed. This is one example of how storytelling is effective when learning in this culture.
Deaf people have many important values that must be shown instead of being told. There are critical
differences between hearing and Deaf people. Deaf people find power in working together, whereas
hearing people find power in working alone without depending on

How Does Euclid Influence Greek Culture
Dunham begins his discussion in chapter 2 by noting the large growth in size and influence Greek
culture underwent during the time of figures such as Plato and Eudoxus. Greece was experiencing a
golden age for many intellectual areas of study, including mathematics. Initially, Dunham mentions
how physical areas were created for intellectual advancement and study, and later moves into
discussing how these institutions influenced important mathematicians, like Euclid, who provided the
first true proofs as we might see them written today, vocabulary notwithstanding. The primary topic
discussed in the chapter revolves around the work of Euclid. Euclid is attributed with the creation of

because, until this point in history, a formal written explanation and proof was not existent despite its
wide acceptance as truth. Proposition I.47 states, In right angled triangles, the square on the side

Consequently, Euclid could now show that ∆ABD=∆FBC by the side angle side triangle congruence.

Analysis Of The Book Meridian By Alice Walker
Alice Walker once said, No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies you the right to
grow. Due to the extreme patriarchal society based in the sixties era, women s voices were often
disregarded and silenced. In the historical novel Meridian, by Alice Walker, the main female
protagonist, Meridian, struggles to comply with the harsh patriarchal systems set in place in her
community, in turn, she uses her silence as a form of resistance. She has various encounters with a
man named Truman, whom she is in love with, but fears she s not good enough because of the color of
her skin. She begins articulate her thoughts and acting without explanation. To replace her silenced
voice, Walker uses third person omniscient and characterization. Meridian is a woman with endless
thoughts and questions that she neglects to voice or ask. The root of Meridian s resistant manner stems
from the uncomfortable power struggle she has with men, like Truman, because of the expectations of
women in the sixties. Men were placed above women and women s opinions were deemed irrelevant.
The author s usage of third person omniscient reveals Meridian s subconscious thoughts during
moments where her voice is overpowered by a male character. For example, She was also tempted to
add white exchange students. But how polite she was! (Walker 108). In this scene Meridian runs into
Truman and begins a dialogue about his beliefs. Meridian is embarrassed by Truman s infatuation with

Childhood Malnutrition Research Paper
Childhood Malnutrition Jonathan Sacks stated Close to a billion people one eighth of the world s
population still live in hunger. Each year 2 million children die through malnutrition. This is
happening at a time when doctors in Britain are warning of the spread of obesity. We are eating too
much while others starve. Severe acute malnutrition affects approximately 13 million children under
the age of 5 and is associated with 1 2 million preventable child deaths each year (Collins, S. 2007).
This growing global problem needs to be brought to attention due to the fact that each year many
children become decease from not getting the proper medical attention they are in need of. Child
malnutrition is also considered a part of child abuse by neglect, which is illegal in the United States of
America. Child abuse by neglect is difficult to diagnose when it is not associated with physical
violence but, neglect is in fact involved with food restriction (Piercecchi Marti, M., Louis Borrione,
C., Bartoli, C., Sanvoisin, A., Panuel, M., Pelissier Alicot, A., Leonetti, G. 2006). By definition,
malnutrition is the lack of proper nutrition, caused by not having enough to eat, not eating enough of
the right things, or being unable to use the food that one does eat. Malnutrition is a global economic

Essay about Analysis of quot;The Birthmark quot;
Some say that beauty is only skin deep and believe that inner beauty, is a whole lot more important.
They are a small minority. Most of us strive for perfection in appearances it may be our own personal
appearance defined by the perfect clothes and the perfect look, the perfect home we live in, or the
perfect car we absolutely must have. People today are no different today than they were in the 19th
century, and we get an in depth understanding of the obsession with being perfect in Nathaniel
Hawthorne s The Birthmark. This short story is about a devoted scientist who marries a beautiful
woman with a single physical flaw; a birthmark on her face. Aylmer becomes obsessed with the

As he said, nature, in one shape or another, stamps ineffaceably on all her productions. Georgiana was
a pretty lady; Nature has to bear a birthmark on her face in order to keep the balance, any attempt to

changed or altered, without significant consequences.
Hawthorne s sentiments are very relevant in today s world where the obsession with perfection often
back fires with unfortunate results. To get the perfect house, the perfect car, or even the perfect look
we go to extraordinary lengths. Do we ever stop to think if it is all worth it? Just for a little while
longer, we think, and then we ll have enough money to get that nose job, or be able to pay for

Aylmer said of his wife, you came so nearly perfect from the hand of Nature that this slightest possible

earthly imperfection, we harp on our imperfection in the same way, blame our parents for not getting

providing and availability in under developed countries. The author will explain, in order, responses to
the question of what the challenges are in under developed countries, will speak to research generated
strategies about how to address those challenges, and will offer strategies for how a nurse can

Challenges in Under Developed Nations
There are number of factors that make healthcare in certain nations difficult to impossible to keep
fluid and proper for the citizenry involved. There are obvious examples like locations and amounts
hospitals and doctor offices but there are also other major examples that some people gloss over or
miss entirely. One example is countries or area that are lacking in infrastructure including roads,
plumbing and supply delivery lifelines. Another example would be a dearth in qualified nurses and
doctors due to circumstances like sub standard schools and colleges, presuming they are even present

Camilla Gibb s Sweetness In The Belly
Intro Sweetness in the Belly by Camilla Gibb tells us the story of Lilly, a white woman who was
raised in Morocco and who was eventually forced to flee Africa from the Red Terror genocides. It
takes place in the 70s and 80s, giving us her perspectives both in Ethiopia, where she is sent to live
after she turns sixteen, as well as England, where she lives as a refugee. Despite the decades in which
these events transpire, Sweetness in the Belly is still a relevant frame of which to compare modern
struggles that come with of racism, immigration, and living in a poor country. p1 One of the reasons
why Sweetness in the Belly is relevant today is its portrayal of racism. Lilly is a white woman in

Understanding Labor Relations And Collective Bargaining
Understanding Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining In the video, Understanding Labor

the disappointment of the many executives in a union environment face in regards to labor costs.
Shortly after this video, Mr. Carty had announced executive retention bonuses and pension protection
right after most union members had already voted to accept over $1 billion worth of wage and benefit
concessions (Zellner, 2003). Needless to say, this didn t brief too well to the point that two of the three
unions were calling for new votes (Zellner, 2003). Mr. Carty claimed that it was merely to keep the

Strong puritan beliefs are discussed in Nathaniel Hawthorne s piece of 1835 Young Goodman Brown.
An important question rises that ignites more questions on the role of God versus the devil in how we
live our lives, the choices we make, and our uncertain salvation. Do we look to God or succumb to the
temptation of the devil? Hawthorne writes, What if the devil himself should be at my very elbow
(Hawthorne, 2011, para. 9). His uncertain curiosity leads him down a wicked path of which the devil
continuously pursues him and he struggles with his own conflicting thoughts, identity, and Faith.
Hawthorne historically reflects the Puritans in their relentless struggle to become perfect in the eyes of
God. Under the Puritan doctrine it s common for individuals to live a life of uncertainty, never
knowing whether God is pleased. This dilemma is characterized by their daring desire to please
themselves and still feel spiritual fulfillment. Goodman Brown expresses his fears as well as his hopes
when Hawthorne states, Faith! Faith! cried the husband, look up to Heaven, and resist the wicked one
(Hawthorne, 2011, para. 69). In this declaration Goodman Brown advocates good while identifying
evil as he renounces Satan. Puritan history dictates that only strong belief in God makes resisting
Satan possible. It is daily repentance of sin which results in

Oral Tradition Paper
It was the intention of this paper to situate The Oral Tradition Workshop for Educators and other
intercultural programs in Esmeraldas into the greater context of intercultural educational programs
globally. First, it aimed to illustrate that intercultural education is often a response to long standing
historical, political, and economic marginalization of one group by the dominate culture. For Afro
Ecuadorians, as in the cases of Europe and Latin America, the focus on intercultural education
emerged as a response to historical marginalization after the amendment to the constitution in 1998
calling for expanded collective rights of indigenous groups and Afro Ecuadorian. At the heart of
intercultural education programs is the assumption that the school and its key actors (students,
educators, administrators) play a critical role in eradicating inequality and negotiating spaces between
cultures (Aikman, 1997). This belief is evident in all of the cases presented in the paper as well as the

This Lime-Tree Bower My Prison Essay
Samuel Taylor Coleridge once asserted that poetry is the blossom and the fragrance of all human
knowledge, human thoughts, human passions, emotions, language
Coleridge s view of poetry epitomises the value poetry has for our modern society. Poetry conveys
complex, relevant issues through different styles of poetry. Coleridge was a prominent member of the
Romanticism movement of the nineteenth century.
The Romanticism movement emphasised the individual s experience and the healing power of nature.
Some key features of Romanticism were idealism and focus on emotional passions. Romantic poets

resentment, selfishness and happiness.
The conversational style of This Lime Tree Bower My Prison creates a connection between the reader
and the poet. Coleridge uses a lime tree as a metaphor for prison, illustrating how everyday objects
can have different meanings. He exaggerates his feelings as he says Friends, whom I may never see

highlighting the effect of nature on humanity.
Cummings defies grammatical norms which furthers his poem s message of American life. He
represents social norms as he says someones married their everyones (Cummings 1940). The common
fear of being forgotten is portrayed in a nonchalant way as the speaker says i guess anyone died one

grammar. This makes the poem attractive to the reader and influences their style of poetry. Cummings
techniques encompass Romanticism and common feelings of

Essay On The Hunt For Red October
Karl Marx popularized the communist slogan, From each according to his ability, to each according to
his needs . In Russia prior to 1991, communism was the form of government and demanded complete
subordination of self to the greater good of the collective. The Hunt for Red October shows a major
contrast between Soviet and the American lifestyles. It was a fight between differences in political
ideology; capitalism versus communism; liberty versus equality. It is the American belief in freedom
that provides us the opportunity to strive to be better and accomplish more both individually and
collectively.
This story takes place in the 1980 s during the Cold War when tensions between the Soviet Union and
the United States were high. Mutual mistrust and fear drove the need to assure citizens of their safety
and protection. Both countries relied heavily on military prowess such as submarine technology, the
main setting in this novel, to show strength. Jack Ryan, an analyst for the CIA, symbolizes the

Physical space can inform researchers on how people interact with that space, and influence social
behavior. Applied anthropologists have a very important tool in their practitioner s toolkit that allows
them to disseminate behavior, actions, and help create spaces that will meet the needs of the
population using ethnography. Ethnography allows practitioners to use their observational skills to
improve the design of a product, landscape, environment, or assist with an infrastructural design based
on the needs of the individuals that will access such facilities (Rijsberman 2012). To do so, it is
extremely important to know the impact of physical surroundings and environmental behavior and
understand that environments have a strong influence on people s interaction with the physical
landscape.
The chapters assigned for this week focused on observing physical spaces and observing
environmental behavior. It is important to observe physical traces, physical surroundings, which
display how people interact with other individuals and that environment (Zeisel 2006). One of the big
topics of chapter 8 was how individuals change their environment to meet their needs. For example,

Fleet Tracking Essay
X Fleet Tracking Tips To Increase Efficiency Profit
Fuel, maintenance and repair, and insurance costs are all expenses every fleet incurs. The fleet that
manages these costs the most efficiently has a competitive advantage, and will enjoy greater earnings.
Following are three fleet tracking tips to increase efficiency and profit.
Fuel
Fuel is the largest operating expense for fleets. Taking tight control of this expense can bring about
significant economic benefits. GPS tracking systems offer huge advantages to fleet managers because
they make fuel purchases, and use, transparent. Managers are able to view when and where fuel
purchases or made, and by whom. They can view reports that systematically display cost per mile, as

The optimized route details the most efficient, and cost effective course, and deviations from that
itinerary, generally reduce the profit of the load. Fleet management software can include the preferred
fuel stops into the route. Using complex algorithms, the program calculates how far off the route the
fuel stop is, while weighing in the cost of the fuel at that station. Refueling stops, that reflect the least
route departure, at the maximum cost savings, are part of the planned route the driver will follow. This
eliminates many of the deadhead miles that result in reaching an off course refueling station.
Driving Performance
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that driver impact on fuel efficiency is, as much
as, 33%. GPS fleet management systems monitor driving behavior that waste fuel, such as hard
acceleration, excessive use of air conditioning, hard breaking, idling, and driving at inconsistent
speeds. These behaviors often improve when drivers become aware that they are being monitored,
however, fleet managers can trigger alerts for driving actions that are both unsafe, and wasteful of
fuel.
Preventative Maintenance and Repair
Maintenance and repair are the second largest operational expenses for fleets. Professionals advocate
that a rigorous regimen of preventative maintenance is essential for efficient and profitable fleet
management. Not only does preventative

Cannabis Infused In Tea
Aim:
The FACING study is designed to test the hypothesis that cannabis infused in tea will increase blood
ghrelin levels as significantly as fasting does. We will randomise patients to (a) administer cannabis
tea or (b) undergo fasting. The results of this study will lead to future interventions for patients with
weight related conditions.
Research Plan: Participants
Patients will be eligible for the study if they are between 18 to 50 years of age and have no previous
use of cannabis (cannabis naive). Patients will be required to have a diastolic blood pressure equal
to/higher than 90 mmHg or a systolic blood pressure equal to/lower than 140 (Tam et al., 2011). All
patients will be required to provide written informed consent to participate in the study. The protocol
will need to be approved by the institutional review boards and ethic committees.
Patients will be excluded from the proposed study if they are diabetics as cannabis has the ability to
induce glucose intolerance (Muniyappa et al., 2013). Patients who are younger than 18 years old will
also be excluded from this study since cannabis use can cause deterioration of neurocognitive function

all the power he could. Octavius had such a hunger for power, he wouldn t let anything stand in his
way of getting it.
Octavius Caesar, otherwise known as Caesar Augustus, was the first emperor of the Roman Empire.
Octavius was born in September of 63 B.C, and died sometime in august of 14 A.D. He lived to be 76
years of age, there are many conspiracies that say his wife may have poisoned him, but most people
say he died of natural causes. Caesar had a lot of adoptive children, such as Gaius and Lucius Caesar,
Agrippa Postumus and Tiberius. Tiberius is the successor to the throne after Caesar dies. Tiberius took
the throne after Octavius died in 14 A.D.
Octavius was born into a family with few connections. He was a sickly child; he was small in stature,
with bad teeth and spots covering his body, with many birthmarks on his chest and belly. Octavius was
the great nephew of Julius Caesar; Julius Caesar won the civil war in 46 B.C, and was named dictator
of Rome Julius then said to the people I came, I saw, I conquered . Julius needed and heir to succeed
him. Having no children he adopted Octavius. His name was then changed to Gaius Julius Caesar.
Octavius did not learn of this until the assassination of Julius Caesar, and it wasn t until the reading of
Julius will that everyone learned that Octavius was now the successor to Julius, and the power he had
was going to Octavius.

Diabetes Mellitus As A Disability
The amount of patients being diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus has sky rocketed these past few years.
In 2010 the figures were 25.8 million and 8.3% and has increased in 2012 to 29.1 million Americans,
or 9.3%. (American Diabetes Association, 2014); it is seen nationwide, and has now even begun to
affect our youth. In South Texas Diabetes Mellitus seems to be the number one thriving disease
affecting its general population. Diabetes Mellitus is now one of the most widely known diseases that
has turned into an epidemic and in 2008 the ADAAmendments Act of 2008 acknowledged Diabetes
Mellitus as a disability, and rightly so since it affects many, from children to the elderly, causing

Two out of three people with diabetes die from heart disease or stroke (American Diabetes
Association, 2014).Society needs to further educate themselves in order to fully understand this
disease and how it can affect their daily lives, whether by short term complications like blurred vision,
to long term complications like kidney failure, and how they can prevent or delay diabetes and its
complications.
Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic illness that requires the individual to manage, support, and educate
themselves of their illness in order to prevent any further complications. It is disease that is caused by
the impairment of insulin secretion and also caused by insulin resistance and insulin deficiency.
Insulin is the hormone used to control and maintain homeostasis over the amount of glucose in our
blood stream. If not much insulin is secreted it can lead to hyperglycemia, which is an abnormal
increase of glucose in the body. Early symptoms of Diabetes Mellitus are related to hyperglycemia and
include, but not limited to, polyuria (excessive urination), polydipsia (excessive thirst), weight loss,
sometimes with polyphagia (excessive hunger), and blurred vision. This may also lead to pre diabetes,
which is when glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough for a diagnosis of diabetes
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2014).
There are two main types of diabetes, Type 1 and type 2. Type 1 is where the

David Berkowits Thesis
David Berkowits was known as the .44 caliber killer. His name however was not David Berkowitz, for
he had changed his name. His real name was Richard David Falco. This man was known throughout
the whole world by his crimes and he instilled fear in all. The main locations for his killings were in
New York. As most serial killers do, he left a note for the police after every murder egging them on to
find him and stop him if they could. Richard claimed to have been a part of a satanic cult and said that
a dog was bringing him message that commanded him to do the atrocities that he performed. The dog
was named Harvey and wasn t even his, it was his neighbors. Even though he claimed that he was

When he was born his name was Richard David Falco, but was soon adopted a few days after birth by
a couple that could not give birth. Their names were Nathan and pearl Berkowitz. They decided to
change his name after birth. Some reports have said that David was quite intelligent as a child but at
the same time he was perturbed. Psychologist had said that he was close to his adoptive mother as a
child and when she passed he was deeply troubled after. By the age of 18 he joined the military and
was honorably discharged. After leaving the military he searched for his birth mother and what he
found out was the reason most psychologists believe he went insane. His first murder was a teenage
female, and he also shot another teenage female but didn t kill her. He ended up leaving her
paraplegic. This all occurred on July 29 1976 outside a Bronx apartment building. Three months later
he shot a couple sitting in a car severely damaging the man s skull. Later on in November he shot two
more teenage girls. In January 1977 he once again targeted another couple in a car. At this point the
police could not put the murders together until they discovered the all the victims had been killed by a
.44 magnum. A few months later in March he killed a college student female. Another month later he
killed an un expecting couple. At this point he started to leave messages for the police force captain.
His last attack was on July 31, 1977 and

Army Hand Salute Research Paper
History
Have you ever wondered why we salute or where this gesture of respect came from?
To preserve history, senior leaders must uphold, teach, and pass down heritage and time honored
traditions because heritage and tradition is what has shaped us into the military force we are today.
This paper will cover the history of military salutes, its evolution, and the effects that it has on the
military today.
The military salute is a tradition that permeates within the military and dates many centuries. There
are two distinct salutes used by the military today. The hand salute and the gun salute.
The hand salute is a form of recognition and greeting between members in the armed services. There
seems to be no true origin of the hand salute and it leads to a lot of speculation of how this gesture of
trust and respect came about. Forms of the hand salute traces back to the Roman and Medieval Times.
During the Roman times when assassinations were widespread and common, in order to see a public
official, a citizen would have to raise their right hand to show that it was free of a weapon. In
Medieval times, a knight in armor would raise their visors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Navy adopted the hand salute from the British Navy. The British Navy s earlier salutes involved
removing the headgear. When they started adding chinstraps to their headgear, it proved too difficult
to remove the headgear in each instance so they began just touching the hat with their right hand. This
gesture, officially modified in 1820, evolved into the hand salute we use today. Some may think that
hand salute is a sign of inferiority because juniors have to always salute seniors first but it is not.
Juniors salute first as a military courtesy towards seniors and it is always required to be returned. A
few other instances where the hand salute is rendered is during the National Anthem or foreign
national anthem, To the Color , Hail to the Chief , rendering reports, and raising and lowering of the

Tariff In America
Tariffs have a great need to be fully increased across the board, first of all. If the tariffs were more
costly the money it will costs to outsource the services or products sold by companies will eventually
here in America to then start using more Americans to produce similar goods needed to make the
companies goods and services. I understand it s always better way to have any country use their own
locals to do the work in general to get things instead of getting out of the foreign companies to make
our electronics, shoes, clothes, toys, etc., and yes I can see how China Mexico are not the only
countries that have the types companies that make cheaper products and use cheaper parts some

The end result is that consumers pay more for the goods. With history we have seen many I don t like
the idea of jobs that leave our country, as I have lost a job before, because the medical tubing machine
could be ran cheaper in Mexico, where me and several co workers (4) who ran it safely here, the
company we worked for leased the machine for 2 workers to run not so safely as we did it here in the
states, with all the rules we have to follow for safety. Without the tariffs we would continue to lose
jobs to other countries with cheaper labor cost. It is believed that it will continue to add to the
unemployment rate and increase the money lost from the U.S. economy and not coming back. Tariffs
have proven that they can keep the jobs in the U.S. and the money will stay too, which will be spent
on in stores, in local restaurants, housing, entertainment, groceries and other stuff. In the past and at
times some still think of tariffs as a bad word. Yes things here in America are better by far taxes, the
poor, (not so poor) middle class and all, than most other countries

Stuart Mill Individuality
Introduction
John Stuart Mill (1806 1873) is recognised as one of the most prolific thinkers of the nineteenth
century, whose liberal political philosophy has influenced intellectuals and political theorists for
decades (Feinberg, 1986). At the same time, Mill s utilitarian approach to society at large reveals
sensibilities and moral considerations that enhance his liberal attitudes in the most surprising ways.
According to Losurdo (2011), it is widely believed that Mill is one of the greatest opponents of
paternalism, supporting individuals liberty and autonomy. However, Mill is also accused of overt
sentiment, ignorance of natural rights, or a diversion from original conceptions of Utilitarianism. As a
result, this essay is concerned with his conception of individuality, as discussed in his On Liberty
(1859), investigating how this notion, based on individual liberty and autonomy, opposes social
control and paternalistic policies.
On the one hand, the essay looks at the ideal of individuality, and its values outside of state ... Show

However, is this political approach immune to social desires to regulate and guard all citizens? This
work explores such tensions between freedom and liberty, and enforced state control, assessing Mill s
liberal utilitarian politics, and their impact on individual lives.
Thesis Statement
This essay argues that John Stuart Mill s On Liberty presents a strong case for individuality of
citizens, challenging the role of paternalism through autonomous social progress and utilitarian values.
On the other hand, it is shown that Mill s arguments against public regulations are very narrow, and
his own ideas frequently adhere to paternalism, thus creating a weak defence against state control
politics.

However, when certain options are exercised, companies receive a tax deduction, which can provide significant income tax savings. There are two arguments that you ll commonly find against the use of stock options: Dilution of ownership and overstatement of operating income. When an employee exercises her stock options, the company has to either issue new shares or go out on the open market and purchase shares. If new shares are issued, then your ownership is diluted. If the company purchases shares on the open market, then the company, which only receives the exercise price from the employee, has to pay market price for the shares it purchases. This results in a net cash outflow for the company. Since the impact of the compensation deduction that a corporation can claim for tax purposes is not included in a company s GAAP income, many take the view that using options enables the company to overstate its income. Risks to Dell shareholders: Dell Share holders bear the risk in the form of cost of potentially issuing the stock at below market values if the employees do convert the options into stock when the options are in the money. However, if the options expires out of the money, the shareholders realize equally better benefits. In this case, the firm obtains labor from employees without having paid for the labor by issuing shares. The employee stock options provides a cushioning from the full burnt ... There s nothing special about most Wal Marts aside from the people who work there, they are all the same. Dozens of people run each store, and they all fade into the background like chess pieces on a black and white board. Again, no big deal until, that is, ten other people have to do the same thing, and suddenly the parking lot is a chaotic storm of nomadic vehicles being driven by irritated people because some animal couldn t put their cart away. Additionally, carts may roll around on the pavement, bashing into vehicles, damaging property, and just overall being a nuisance. None of these issues, however, are the biggest ones caused by this act of negligence. By choosing not to put their carts away, customers are saying that such an action is beneath them and can be done by an employee in short, someone lesser than them, (the customer.) It is degrading to the employee, and overall disrespectful, particularly during times of bad weather. Because someone did not feel like putting away something which they had used for their own convenience, someone else now has to walk around an icy parking lot in sub zero temperatures putting the carts away for hours on end. This relates to an ethos based thinking, as it is an ethical issue but of course, no one thinks about that and if they do, they cover it up by saying That s the employee s job. It is a fireman s job to put out fires, but does that mean arson is an acceptable practice? Leaving carts behind in the parking lot is disrespectful to the employees, yes, but it goes beyond that, as well. How do these people act in other aspects of life? • 4. Student Republican Party Platform Essay Preamble The dawn of a new millennium is upon us and we, the Republican Party, are fully prepared to meet the challenges that await us. This past century, due to the resilience and determination of the American people, our country has experienced more growth and prosperity than any other nation in recorded history. However, dark challenges threaten the moral fiber of this great nation. The past eight years, under Clinton s leadership, the national government has lacked the fortitude to effectively battle the dangerously extremist trends that have gradually forced their way into the American culture. In order for America to be the great nation it once was, the Republican Party must be in power. The Republican Party has a vision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this reduction we have rekindled the belief in the American dream. Economic prosperity and sound moral and family values have begun to be reinstated in all arenas of American life. We believe there should be less government intrusion in the lives of Americans because only the American people can decide what is best for them. We stand for a rollback of federal government paternalism and intervention and instead call for an increased roll of the individual and a revitalization of the American tradition of entrepreneurial innovation. The rise of the Republican Party to national prominence will allow us to realize these goals and restore America to its former glory. Federal Minimum Wage We the Republican Party support the American workforce knowing that the future of the country rests on a strong economy. To insure economic prosperity it is imperative that states have the freedom to act accordingly to its economy. We as Americans, as workers, and as taxpayers should seek to quiet the anxiety over labor and wages. We cannot be held to a standard that blankets the whole nation when it is evident that each state is different. States must be allowed to evaluate the conditions of their economy, unemployment, growth and other relative demographics and then should have the ability to set the minimum wage. The Republican Party strongly believes that government ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This astonishing diversity supports the human existence by providing numerous priceless resources such as food, fuel, and medicine. Many of these resources can not be duplicated by the human race. For these reasons it is obvious that the environment and the biodiversity that it supports are detrimental to human survival. • 6. The Immense Character Development in Antigone by Sophocles... Brad Moore, a famous athlete once said, Pride would be a lot easier to swallow if it didn t taste so bad. In Sophocles well known Greek tragedy, Antigone, the main character undergoes immense character development. Antigone transforms from being stubborn and underestimated to courageous and open minded. In reality, it is Antigone s insular persistence that leads to her ultimate decline in the play as well as others around her. After the death of her two brothers, Eteocles and Polynices, Creon becomes the new ruler of Thebes. With this, he grants Eteocles an honorable funeral service for his brave fighting. Claiming that Polynices was a traitor, he shows complete refusal to grant Polynices a respectable and worthy service. Clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She makes it obvious that she has made her final decision to stand by her brother showing an extremely poor sense of pride. She will stop at nothing to prove her abilities. Her pride takes over her thinking and clouds her from using good judgment. Antgone s pride is exaggerated to a point where her arrogance is causing problems. For instance, it is difficult for her to admit to anything wrong she has done. Along with her close minded nature, it is Antigone s splendid though perverse valor which creates the drama (Rose 220). Her excessive pride to save her brother results in chaos for herself as well as those around her. Love and bravery for her family is a key factor for her determination to give her brother a proper burial. She shows immense loyalty and will power as she fights for her family name. Her endurance is extraordinary as she declares Naturally! Since Zeus never promulgated such a law, nor will you find that Justice, Mistress of the world below, publishes such laws on humankind. I never thought your mortal edicts had such force they nullified the laws of heaven... (Sophocles 38). Antigone responds to Creon s speech and disagrees with his proclamation denying Polynices a funeral. Polynices, hated by the entire country, is being deprived of an appropriate burial service and Antigone is determined to honor her brother correctly (Rose 219). The courage she displays is crucial factor in her character development. The devotion towards helping her brother is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Jean Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center Introduction The Jean Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center was built in 1998 in Noumea, New Caledonia in honor of the New Caledonian Kanak independence leader, who was assassinated in 1989. The Kanak people are native to the pacific region and account for 41% of the island s populations. (Piano Building Workshop) The Center was built as an undertaking by the French Government during the negotiations of independence from France. The territory of New Caledonia wanted a Kanak Cultural Centre that would be dedicated to the future development of the culture as inspired by Jean Marie Tjibaou. The scope of the brief was broad: the design must honor traditional Kanak culture; while at the same time provide a focal point for the development of the society. (Fondazione). The aim was to ensure that despite modern developments the Kanak culture would not lose touch with its historical roots.( Fondazione). In 1991 an international competition was held and Italian architect, Renzo Piano won. A spectacular location was found on the Tina peninsula against a background of mountains and promontories jutting out into Magenta Bay, with the capital city of Noumea to the east and open sea to the west. Death Camps were built to kill Jews with gas chambers or crematoriums, and were mostly around Poland. The Nazis used gas chambers and crematoriums to kill the Jews at Death Camps. At some point in the second half of 1941. Hitler is believed to have given the order to begin the systematic elimination of all Jews still living in German occupied territory (Downing, David 6). Gas chambers were one of the two big ways the Nazis killed the Jews. Gas chambers were added in 1942. Each gas chamber was built beneath its own crematorium. The Death Camps were located on major railway lines and near large cities ( Lace, Williams 17). They were sited in Poland for three reasons. First next to the Soviet Union, Poland had the largest concentration of Jews in Europe, about 4 million ( Lace, William 17). Auschwitz was actually three camps in one: a prison camp, an extermination camp, and a slave labor camp. It was the most lethal of the Nazi extermination camps and came to represent the final solution, or the extermination of the Jews.Between 1.1 and 1.5 million people died at Auschwitz (Britannica School Auschwitz ). Not only did Jews die from getting gassed or burned, they suffered from hunger and little to no shelter. This meant they were exposed to all the sickness and cold weather. Geometry in the Early Elementary Grades LESSON PLAN Learning Area Topic/ Lesson Title PREPARATION Follow up lesson for Video http://www.schoolsworld.tv/node/2066?terms=644 (Year 2: Maths Shapes) Rationale / Goal Geometry in the early elementary grades can build on children s informal knowledge by giving them appropriate vocabulary and opportunities to practice identifying geometric shapes in the classroom and the real world. These learning activities help students make connections between what happens in and out of the classroom. They also help children begin to informally develop their concept of spatial sense through such observations as close and far away. Giving students opportunities to practice developing their spatial sense will increase their awareness and application of geometric concepts in different areas of mathematics and other disciplines, including art, science, and social studies. In the story Where the Red Fern Grows the theme is to cherish those close to you before it s too late. The story is also a good lesson to learn because you never know when someone vital to your life may die so cherish them while you have them. This quote from pinterest fits the theme of the story because when Old Dan and Little Ann almost died Billy felt like he should ve loved them more when they were alive. Without that time in the story the story would be completely different. This is a wise quote because when Billy got his dogs after working so hard to get them he knew that once he got the dogs he would remember how he got his dogs forever. That was one of the most important parts in the story and without them the story would be different. Since the part is in the story now the part makes a huge impact on the book and that is why that supports my quote and theme. In the story there were several moments that Billy would remember for the rest of his life . Billy had multiple lessons he had learned through the course of his life so far, and there will still be many more lessons to come. There are other pieces to this story that are important to the story. There is one part in the story where Little Ann and Old Dan nearly died from the winter storm. This essay will to focus on the initial stages of Joe s care in the first hour of his admission to the children s assessment unit. On arrival, Joe s mother Catherine was distressed and throughout every stage of Joe s care it was important Catherine was provided with clear information in order to empower her to make informed choices regarding Joe s care (Glasper et al. 2010). Parental involvement was introduced after the Platt Report in 1959 which recommended that parents should be allowed to stay with their hospitalised child. The report has led to significant improvements in interactions between parents of hospitalised children and the staff who care for them (Priddis and Sheilds 2011). Sousa et al (2013) carried out a study that found communication between parents and children s nurses is vital. Sousa et al (2013) found that almost all parents who participated in the questionnaire agreed it was a priority to get information on their child s health condition. While this is true, it is quite broad and should specify what sort of mastery and growth. What would mastery consist of? Can we truly master anything? What if we have no need to grow, if we are content having the one mastery? Does one need a mastery to want to learn more? His statement may be true under certain conditions or if revised to include such outliers, but as it is, the specifications are too loose. Mastery can present itself in many forms, it isn t concrete. That dog didn t try to reach outside its current level to let the humans know it needed to go out, it was a reflex response, though it has learned that the bark gets it outside. It has grown without pushing itself to achieve more. Completely learning something has to happen in stages so that it can be fully absorbed, so having one mastery before moving to something else is important but some occur at the same time for better understanding of each as they relate to another. Its like a Chemistry class, you learn how to completely do one basic formula and what it means before you can move to the next. In a Chemistry class, you may also learn separate parts at the same time because they tie together later on. There are designated campsites, fresh water faucets, and wonder of wonders a building that houses restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. Procrustes gave out special accommodations that fit everyone, regardless of the guests size. The neighbor quickly agreed to help, explaining this poem was her favorite. She knew storytelling was an important part of learning in the Deaf culture. It was also the best way for the girl to learn. Rita Colasent, the author of The Power of True Expression explained the next part of the story as follows, We [the mother and her two daughters] were able to take what we were learning [about the poem] and match it to our feelings, our own experiences, and our own insights as the message of the Raven unraveled before our very eyes (Colasent 1996: 378)! The girl later explained how she was not only telling the story; she also took on the role of the speaker. The girl s teacher and fellow students were truly amazed at the performance. Her teacher was very impressed. This is one example of how storytelling is effective when learning in this culture. Deaf people have many important values that must be shown instead of being told. How Does Euclid Influence Greek Culture Dunham begins his discussion in chapter 2 by noting the large growth in size and influence Greek culture underwent during the time of figures such as Plato and Eudoxus. Greece was experiencing a golden age for many intellectual areas of study, including mathematics. Initially, Dunham mentions how physical areas were created for intellectual advancement and study, and later moves into discussing how these institutions influenced important mathematicians, like Euclid, who provided the first true proofs as we might see them written today, vocabulary notwithstanding. These propositions set the stage for the great theorem of chapter 2 Euclid s proof of the Pythagorean Theorem. This proof is important because, until this point in history, a formal written explanation and proof was not existent despite its wide acceptance as truth. Proposition I.47 states, In right angled triangles, the square on the side subtending the right angle is equal to the squares on the sides containing the right angle. Euclid tackled the great proof by using geometry to describe the equation, c^2= a^2+b^2, as seen in Figure 4. The ultimate goal is to show that the area covered by the two smaller squares sum up to the area of the third square. Initially, we pose that triangle ABC is right by design. Then, by proposition I.14, GAC must be a straight line. By examining the ΔABD and ΔFBC, we see that they have sides of (AB) ̅= (FD) ̅ and (BD) ̅=(BC) ̅ since they are sides of squares. Next, since angle ∠ABD=right angle+∠ABC and ∠FBC=right angle+∠FBA. Using postulate I.4 and common notion 2 we know ∠ ABD=∠ FBC. Consequently, Euclid could now show that ∆ABD=∆FBC by the side angle side triangle congruence. Now Euclid applied his postulate I.41 to relate the area of the squares, to the area of a triangle that shares the same base. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to the extreme patriarchal society based in the sixties era, women s voices were often disregarded and silenced. In the historical novel Meridian, by Alice Walker, the main female protagonist, Meridian, struggles to comply with the harsh patriarchal systems set in place in her community, in turn, she uses her silence as a form of resistance. She has various encounters with a man named Truman, whom she is in love with, but fears she s not good enough because of the color of her skin. She begins articulate her thoughts and acting without explanation. To replace her silenced voice, Walker uses third person omniscient and characterization. Meridian is a woman with endless thoughts and questions that she neglects to voice or ask. The root of Meridian s resistant manner stems from the uncomfortable power struggle she has with men, like Truman, because of the expectations of women in the sixties. Men were placed above women and women s opinions were deemed irrelevant. The author s usage of third person omniscient reveals Meridian s subconscious thoughts during moments where her voice is overpowered by a male character. Each year 2 million children die through malnutrition. This is happening at a time when doctors in Britain are warning of the spread of obesity. We are eating too much while others starve. Severe acute malnutrition affects approximately 13 million children under the age of 5 and is associated with 1 2 million preventable child deaths each year (Collins, S. 2007). This growing global problem needs to be brought to attention due to the fact that each year many children become decease from not getting the proper medical attention they are in need of. Child malnutrition is also considered a part of child abuse by neglect, which is illegal in the United States of America. An important question rises that ignites more questions on the role of God versus the devil in how we live our lives, the choices we make, and our uncertain salvation. Do we look to God or succumb to the temptation of the devil? Hawthorne writes, What if the devil himself should be at my very elbow (Hawthorne, 2011, para. 9). His uncertain curiosity leads him down a wicked path of which the devil continuously pursues him and he struggles with his own conflicting thoughts, identity, and Faith. Hawthorne historically reflects the Puritans in their relentless struggle to become perfect in the eyes of God. Under the Puritan doctrine it s common for individuals to live a life of uncertainty, never knowing whether God is pleased. This dilemma is characterized by their daring desire to please themselves and still feel spiritual fulfillment. Goodman Brown expresses his fears as well as his hopes when Hawthorne states, Faith! For Afro Ecuadorians, as in the cases of Europe and Latin America, the focus on intercultural education emerged as a response to historical marginalization after the amendment to the constitution in 1998 calling for expanded collective rights of indigenous groups and Afro Ecuadorian. • 40. Hawthorne Effect Ethnography Miguel Huerta Anth 232 Dr. English Lueck 3/14/17 Write up 4 (Design Chpt 8 9) Physical space can inform researchers on how people interact with that space, and influence social behavior. Applied anthropologists have a very important tool in their practitioner s toolkit that allows them to disseminate behavior, actions, and help create spaces that will meet the needs of the population using ethnography. Ethnography allows practitioners to use their observational skills to improve the design of a product, landscape, environment, or assist with an infrastructural design based on the needs of the individuals that will access such facilities (Rijsberman 2012). To do so, it is extremely important to know the impact of physical surroundings and environmental behavior and understand that environments have a strong influence on people s interaction with the physical landscape. The chapters assigned for this week focused on observing physical spaces and observing environmental behavior. It is important to observe physical traces, physical surroundings, which display how people interact with other individuals and that environment (Zeisel 2006). One of the big topics of chapter 8 was how individuals change their environment to meet their needs. For example, this can be observed when individuals create their own walkway or path. • 41. Fleet Tracking Essay X Fleet Tracking Tips To Increase Efficiency Profit Fuel, maintenance and repair, and insurance costs are all expenses every fleet incurs. The fleet that manages these costs the most efficiently has a competitive advantage, and will enjoy greater earnings. Following are three fleet tracking tips to increase efficiency and profit. Fuel Fuel is the largest operating expense for fleets. Taking tight control of this expense can bring about significant economic benefits. GPS tracking systems offer huge advantages to fleet managers because they make fuel purchases, and use, transparent. Managers are able to view when and where fuel purchases or made, and by whom. They can view reports that systematically display cost per mile, as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The optimized route details the most efficient, and cost effective course, and deviations from that itinerary, generally reduce the profit of the load. Fleet management software can include the preferred fuel stops into the route. Using complex algorithms, the program calculates how far off the route the fuel stop is, while weighing in the cost of the fuel at that station. Refueling stops, that reflect the least route departure, at the maximum cost savings, are part of the planned route the driver will follow. This eliminates many of the deadhead miles that result in reaching an off course refueling station. Driving Performance The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that driver impact on fuel efficiency is, as much as, 33%. GPS fleet management systems monitor driving behavior that waste fuel, such as hard acceleration, excessive use of air conditioning, hard breaking, idling, and driving at inconsistent speeds. These behaviors often improve when drivers become aware that they are being monitored, however, fleet managers can trigger alerts for driving actions that are both unsafe, and wasteful of fuel. Preventative Maintenance and Repair Maintenance and repair are the second largest operational expenses for fleets. Professionals advocate that a rigorous regimen of preventative maintenance is essential for efficient and profitable fleet management. Not only does preventative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We will randomise patients to (a) administer cannabis tea or (b) undergo fasting. The results of this study will lead to future interventions for patients with weight related conditions. Research Plan: Participants Patients will be eligible for the study if they are between 18 to 50 years of age and have no previous use of cannabis (cannabis naive). Patients will be required to have a diastolic blood pressure equal to/higher than 90 mmHg or a systolic blood pressure equal to/lower than 140 (Tam et al., 2011). All patients will be required to provide written informed consent to participate in the study. The protocol will need to be approved by the institutional review boards and ethic committees. Patients will be excluded from the proposed study if they are diabetics as cannabis has the ability to induce glucose intolerance (Muniyappa et al., 2013). Patients who are younger than 18 years old will also be excluded from this study since cannabis use can cause deterioration of neurocognitive function in attention and memory (Jacobus Tapert, 2014). • 47. Army Hand Salute Research Paper History Have you ever wondered why we salute or where this gesture of respect came from? To preserve history, senior leaders must uphold, teach, and pass down heritage and time honored traditions because heritage and tradition is what has shaped us into the military force we are today. This paper will cover the history of military salutes, its evolution, and the effects that it has on the military today. The military salute is a tradition that permeates within the military and dates many centuries. There are two distinct salutes used by the military today. The hand salute and the gun salute. The hand salute is a form of recognition and greeting between members in the armed services. There seems to be no true origin of the hand salute and it leads to a lot of speculation of how this gesture of trust and respect came about. Forms of the hand salute traces back to the Roman and Medieval Times. During the Roman times when assassinations were widespread and common, in order to see a public official, a citizen would have to raise their right hand to show that it was free of a weapon. In Medieval times, a knight in armor would raise their visors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Navy adopted the hand salute from the British Navy. The British Navy s earlier salutes involved removing the headgear. When they started adding chinstraps to their headgear, it proved too difficult to remove the headgear in each instance so they began just touching the hat with their right hand. This gesture, officially modified in 1820, evolved into the hand salute we use today. Some may think that hand salute is a sign of inferiority because juniors have to always salute seniors first but it is not. Juniors salute first as a military courtesy towards seniors and it is always required to be returned. A few other instances where the hand salute is rendered is during the National Anthem or foreign national anthem, To the Color , Hail to the Chief , rendering reports, and raising and lowering of the ... • 51. Stuart Mill Individuality Introduction John Stuart Mill (1806 1873) is recognised as one of the most prolific thinkers of the nineteenth century, whose liberal political philosophy has influenced intellectuals and political theorists for decades (Feinberg, 1986). At the same time, Mill s utilitarian approach to society at large reveals sensibilities and moral considerations that enhance his liberal attitudes in the most surprising ways. According to Losurdo (2011), it is widely believed that Mill is one of the greatest opponents of paternalism, supporting individuals liberty and autonomy. However, Mill is also accused of overt sentiment, ignorance of natural rights, or a diversion from original conceptions of Utilitarianism. As a result, this essay is concerned with his conception of individuality, as discussed in his On Liberty (1859), investigating how this notion, based on individual liberty and autonomy, opposes social control and paternalistic policies.
