Success As Kaya Clow Sees it Success is in the eye of the beholder. The definition of success has
many meanings. It could mean how high a person reaches in their career, how well they do in

much money they make. Success to me is being happy with who I am and not to try be someone

5. Corn Vs Corn
Although cows evolved to survive on grass, farmers are now feeding them corn for rapid growth
to benefit the U.S. Economy. After six months, calves are weaned off grass, put into pens, and
forced to eat corn. While this does not make sense from an environmental, health, or humane
treatment of animal s viewpoint, economically it does, as a corn enriched diet enables cows to
reach slaughter weight faster and produce more to meet demands. Corn is a cheap commodity to
purchase compared to the farmer s cost to produce. The industrial farmer relies on the large
volume and low purchase price of corn to help shorten a cow s lifespan and provide foodmore
rapidly to the American population. Grass fed cows take longer to reach their ideal weight for...

The introduction of chemical fertilizers and other technological inputs created a surplus of corn on
American farmland. In the early 1900 s farmers were only able to grow small bushels of corn but
today there is an excess amount. Although such an overabundance represented a great achievement
in American agriculture, the excess corn needed some use and one way to reduce overage is to
feed it to farm animals; especially cows. Corn does not require a lot of space to store and it is
extremely easy to collectively feed a considerable number of cows. Feeding cows low priced corn
as required by the Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation s CAFO is economically efficient and
enables the production of large quantities of marbled meat that was once a luxury for many
Americans. However, even though feeding corn to cattle helps in the process of fattening cows for
slaughter, it also produces many health risks that the United States Department of Agriculture
USDA overlooks in their effort to help eliminate the corn surplus, and bring rapid profit to the few
corporations that run the meat

9. The Destruction Of Ahab s Struggle In Moby Dick
Today, every person has a reason for why they succeed or fail with their struggles. For instance,
in Moby Dick, Ahab s reason to carry on is to conquer and kill Moby Dick a legendary white
whale. The captain s mission to complete this seemingly impossible task drives him to become
insane; and his hatred toward Moby Dick pushes him onward. Herman Melville, the original writer
of this story, expresses Ahab s madness in the quote, Aye, aye! And I ll chase him round Good
Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom, and round perdition s flames before
I give him up. And this is what ye have shipped for, men! To chase that white whaleon both sides of

travel with are riding horses rather than driving cars. Gatsby cannot ride with them by horse
because he does not own one, therefore if he really wanted to go he would have to find an
alternative to horseback. Gatsby s car acts as this alternative and thus acts as a gateway for
social interaction. For Tom, Mr. Sloane, and the lady, the car symbolizes an alternative that is a
nuisance. To reiterate, the car allows Gatsby to go to the dinner party despite not owning a horse.
Based on Tom s remark, stating My God, I believe the man s coming, [...] Doesn t he know she

12. The Model Of Emergent Leadership
Tuvia Bielski:
The Model of Emergent Leadership in Edward Zwick s Defiance Have you ever been in a
situation where you had to take charge, and take on leadership roles in a short period of time ?
Some people may say that not everyone can be a leader. Some also believe that leaders are born
with the necessary qualities, which make them successful as a leader. Others believe that leadership,
like many other character traits, can be learned and developed through life. The debate depends
on how you define leadership. A leader can be made in certain situations of survival. It can range
from promoting what is right to perform social changes, or just to execute their own ideas. When
you are a leader you gain a certain sense of independence, and pride that you started something.
Therefore, when it s finished you get to show people that you were able to accomplish all of this.
Watching the movie Defiance by Edward Zwick, I came across the character Tuvia Bielski. The
movie unfolded a leader in front of our eyes. Tuvia became the leader of the partisan group. His
characteristics that he possessed before he took his position, groomed him into the leader he was
then. Tuvia Bielski became a leader because of the circumstances he found himself in.

14. Essay On Muscle Contraction
The Correlation between Eccentric Strength and Agility in Male Field Sport Athletes.
There are three types of muscle contraction, isotonic, isometric and isokinetic. There are two
isotonic contractions, concentric and eccentric. A concentric contraction is a shortening of the
muscle fibres, an example of this being a bicep curl causing a concentric contraction on the biceps
brachii causing the elbow to flex. An eccentric contraction is the opposite of this. During an
eccentric contraction as the muscle contracts the muscle fibres lengthen. An eccentric contraction is
important in deceleration where the quadriceps lengthen to slow down the limb. This type of
contraction should transfer into agility as athletes with greater eccentric strength ... Show more

Agility has been described as a rapid whole body movement with change of velocity or direction
in response to a stimulus . (Sheppard et al, 2006) This description identifies the inclusion of
cognitive skills in determining agility. This definition applies to open skills only. Open skills
cannot be pre planned, however closed skills, such as sprinting or previously planned changes of
direction, can be planned in advance. This is very important in every field sport as the ability to
react quickly and allow the movements to match these reactions enhances performance. Many field
sports require straight line running speed but more often than not fast change of direction is a
defining factor of an athlete s performance. Fast change of direction speed and ability to make the
right decision in a game situation makes for an excellent athlete.
Many tests have been designed to test for change of direction speed. The 5 0 5 test is a timed
agility test using rapid 180 degree turns and straight line speed. The Illinois test is a timed agility
test using straight line speed and many multi directional changes. The Zig zag test is a good
indication of multiple directional changes. It is a timed test where the athlete must round cones set
out in a figure 8.
Subjects used in this study were 10 male soccer players. The agility test that was chosen to best
simulate this sport was the 5 0 5 agility test. This was due to the quick, snappy change

Robinson 1 Robinson 4
Robinson 3 Anthony Robinson Mrs Sharifian Govt 2305 28 July 2017 14TH Amendment To be
considered an American means you were born on US soil. For majority of Americans this is similar
thanks to the 14th Amendment which allows any person born in our territories to be granted
citizenship. But this law is quickly being taking advantage of by foreigners who seek to rack the
benefits of the citizenship illegally. Therefore, it is important that the 14th Amendment is updated
to have striker laws against any person seeking to enter this country legally or unlawfully to fit our
current situations in America.
Immigration is now at the forefront of problems in America. One of the main contributions to that
problem is Birth Tourism when an immigrant couple come to America legally to give birth to their
child in the states so that the child will be considered a US citizen (Sheehan, 2015). Birth Tourism
is a controversial matter because people who enter the country on visas are technically given
permission from the united states government to enter the country lawfully. Law makers are calling
for stricter laws to slow the growth rate or cute the numbers in half. The 14th Amendment was
ratified in 1868 which is still early in our countries history considering that at the time the fathers
could not predict the massive immigration problem the country is having (Will, 2010). Areas like
California, and New York are experiencing large tourist groups from China on visas

For soy and sugar beet [crops], in 2013 genetically modified varieties represented over 90% of the
total [of American soybean and sugarbeet crops]; for maize and cotton it was exactly 90%.
Genetically modified organisms, or commonly abbreviated GMOs, are plants that have had their
DNA genetically altered to create amicable, or abolish undesirable traits. As previously said in the
statistic sourced from gmo compass.org, GMOs are dominant to their counter product, organic
foods. On the topic, many effects are produced from GMOs, not only health effects upon the
consumer, but economic effects, and inflated population rates. Elaborating upon the the economic,
as well as population effect, GMOs are modified to have a higher production rate per plant, making
them cheaper to produce, and inevitably cheaper in market stocks. Populations tend to increase
dramatically from a higher food supply accommodating the demands for a constant flow of food,
and expansion of that flow. Alternatively, many concerns come from the beneficiary health and
risks that accompany manipulated organisms. Two key consternations derive from allergies
developed from GMOs, and linkage to disease in humans. Other external arguments concur with the
controversy of adjusted genes. Examples of this is questioning the morality of permuting natural
substances for the selfishness of mankind, as well as the destruction of biodiversity. Theoretically,

For the majority of population was the only option to pay by cash, because of non users of credit

Quotation:
He d come down with a fever and they lay in the woods like fugitives. Nowhere to build a fire.
Nowhere safe. The boy sat in the leaves watching him. His eyes brimming. Are you going to die,
Papa? he said. Are you going to die?
No. I m just sick.
I m really scared.
I know. It s all right. I m going to get better. You ll see.
His dreams brightened. The vanished world returned (186 187).
Response:
(CL) The last prediction made, foresaw an early death for the man leaving the boy on his own.
The man tells his son earlier in the story that there is nothing wrong with having nightmares, for
28. if they are having good dreams it means they have given up and he doesn t want the boy to give
up. The man s dreams are becoming brighter and the world before the fire is coming into his head.
The man is giving up. The prediction made earlier is coming true. (S) Cormac McCarthy
doesn t use quotes at all in this novel which implies a world so inhuman, hopeless and desiccated
there is no need or use of this punctuation. This style is very apparent in this quote as the man
continues to give up and becomes fatigued. Also, McCarthy adding the fact that the man s dreams
are becoming more lighthearted and content right after it is revealed he his becoming sick adds a
large sense of foreshadowing.

From 1972 to 1983, the video game giant Atari rose and fell. It fell due to a combination of
factors, including bad tradeoffs, a surplus issue, and a deficiency in entrepreneurial ability. The
Founder Nolan Bushnell sold Atari to the wrong company, administrators tended to overestimate
their game and console demand, and finally Atari lost its founder and best programmers. With all
these factors, Atari closed it s door for the final time in 1983. When Atari was created, it started off
with success in merely arcade games, but the founder wanted more. The founder, Nolan Bushnell,

that they contribute to psychological effects in the most unwilling and detrimental ways.
Lastly, cell phones can take away experiencing life. Getting outside and going beyond a screen
can be seen almost as therapy for people who get everything out of their phone. Breathing fresh
air, going on a trip, being with the people who love you most can be a life changer and can
present how much life has to offer without depending on technology. Mentally taking a break from
cellular technology and social media included can bring down levels of stress and can help an
individual connect with who they are as well others. Ultimately, everyone should take a break from
their phones and screens to really see beyond the painted picture. It s importance truly shows how
generations change with times continuance.
Given these points, cellular devices have also contributed to some of the easiest accessible

http://ponderosa pine.uoregon.edu/students/Janis/menu.html
Abstract
Bubonic plague has had a major impact on the history of the world. Caused by the bacterium,
Yersinia pestis, and transmitted by fleas often found on rats, bubonic plague has killed over 50
million people over the centuries. Burrowing rodent populations across the world keep the disease
present in the world today. Outbreaks, though often small, still occur in many places. The use of
antibiotics and increased scientific knowledge first gained in the 1890s have reduced the
destruction of plague outbreaks. In Medieval times, with the unknowing help of humans, bubonic
plague exploded into a pandemic. Known as the ВіBlack DeathВІ, it decimated Europe in 1350,

Fourteenth century physicians didn t know what caused the plague, but they knew it was
contagious. As a result they wore an early kind of bioprotective suit which included a large
beaked head piece. The beak of the head piece, which made them look like large birds, was filled
with vinegar, sweet oils and other strong smelling compounds to counteract the stench of the dead
and dying plague victims.
Bubonic plague has a vaccine. It lasts for about 6 months. Currently, plague vaccine is not
available in the United States. A new vaccine is being worked on and could be licensed later this
year. Travelers to plague infested areas should take prophylaxic antibiotics. The preferred
antibiotic for prophylaxis is tetracycline or doxycycline, and for children 8 or less, sulfonamides.
Bubonic plague is easily treated if caught early. Streptomycin is the preferred drug, but gentamicin,
teracyclines, and chloramphenicol also are effective. Penicillin is useless on plague. Treatment
shortly after exposure can reduce overall plague mortality from 60% 100% to 10% 15%. The most
effective way to prevent plague is better sanitary conditions and precautions. These conditions and
precautions include:
rat populations should be controlled using rodenticide
effective insecticides should be used to control the flea population that transmits plague to humans
and rodents
ships should be fumigated with hydrocyanic gas before arriving in port
conditions around human dwellings should be made

36. Benjamin Lev s Struggle With Their Ultra Orthodox...
Critical Lens Hypothesis: Asher Lev s struggle to reconcile his gift with his ultra orthodox
religious beliefs can be explained in Freudian terms. The human psyche is an incredibly complex
system. It controls us in every aspect of our lives, rewarding us for a job well done while also
making us feel guilty for each mistake we make. Our psyche is influenced by the world in which
we live, by our immediate family and friends and also by those who we will meet during our
lives. Each and every stage of life will result in us experiencing more, and in doing so, those
experiences will shape who we will become. Our psyche is made up of three very important
parts: the id, the ego, and the superego. The id is the primitive and instinctive component of
personality. It consists of all the biological components of personality, including the life instinct
and the death instinct. The id is the only part of our psyche which is present from birth. It is
concerned only with the immediate satisfaction of our needs and has no respect for the
consequences or impact on other people. The ego is the part which attempts to reconcile our id s
irrational tendencies with the realities of the world. The ego is tasked with working out realistic
ways of satisfying the id s demands, often postponing satisfaction to avoid negative consequences
of society. The superego s function is to control the id s impulses, especially those which society
forbids and to reward us when we do good (ideal

Both Frankenstein by Marry Shelly and Splice directed by Vincenzo Natali have a common theme
between them, both of their horror develops a result of neglectful parenthood. This occurs when the
Creators abandon their creations, show abusive tendencies and treat them as a lesser creature. In
Splice, the scientists treat their creation as if they were a pet or an experiment. They do not regard
their emotions, which leads to Dren ends up raping Elsa. While similarly FrankensteinVictor
neglects his Monster, he illustrates his unwillingness to create a companion for The Monster which
results in The Monster going on and murdering his family. Specific instances from the stories
include the moments in Splice when Elsa and Clive Move Dren around in a box and when Elsa
cuts off Drens stinger. In Frankenstein, the first moments of The Monster s life when Frankenstein
cannot look at The Monster out of disgust and when Frankenstein rips apart The Monster s mate.

41. The Bad Sides Of Evil In Shakespeare s Hamlet As A Bad Man
Hamlet as a Bad Man The Hamlet is one of the greatest plays by Shakespeare, which provides an
account of an example of the Victorian royal feud. The main character of the play, Hamlet, whose
characters help in providing the directions for the play, depicts different demeanors depending on
how one views him. It is normative for a prince to orchestrate the revenge for the death of his
father, especially if the killer occupies the throne that one is an heir of. The play, therefore, may
help in depicting Hamletas a bad person in different views in terms of the political crisis that his
kingdom was going through.
The Bad Sides of Hamlet The book The Hamlet by Shakespeare provides an account of a political
crisis that enveloped the kingdom of Denmark. King Claudius murdered his brother and married his
wife queen Gertrude because of malice. The king had a beautiful wife, was prosperous and ruled
the kingdom, all to the envy of his brother. Hamlet, the son of the slain king, was an orderly and
well behaved prince as the play begins. He is in love with Ophelia, and befriends many of the
workers in the palace, until his father s ghost appears to him and exposes to him the truth, requiring
him to avenge the death of his father; So art thou to revenge, when thou shalt hear... (Shakespeare).

Like any style of music, hip hop has roots in other forms, and its evolution was shaped by many
different artists, but there s a case to be made that it came to life precisely on this day in 1973, at
a birthday party in the recreation room of an apartment building in the west Bronx, New York

that historic party was the birthday girl s brother, Clive Campbell better known to history as DJ

When hip hop music first developed in the late 1970s, not many people knew about it. It was
created in the poorest districts of New York City by African American and Latino teenagers as
part of a hip hop scene that also produced breakdancing and graffiti art. Many of these young

45. Understand the Organisational Framework for Play
Emma Hawkins PW 3 11 Understand the organisational Framework for Play
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child.
Everyone in the U.K, including children and young people, have rights that are recognised and
protected. These rights are granted by legislation, for example, Human right legislation, The
Children Act, etc, which have evolved from a variety of sources. One of these sources is The
United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child. Before this was adopted any laws relating to
the care and protection of children and young people gave all rights to the child s parents to do as
they felt fit.
The Convention on the Rights of the child is an international treaty which has been adopted by the

It is vital to stay up to date with these.
Play organisations will have set policies and procedures that relate to and include the rights of the
children and young people in the setting. Recent changes in legislation mean that these policies and
procedures will need reviewing and more than likely updating regularly. By evaluating policies and
procedures you should be able to judge the impact they have on children s rights.
Current theories about inclusive play revolve around the idea that play is important for life and
that all play workers should be committed to creating play environments that are inclusive and that
offer multi sensory experiences for all children. Play environments should ensure children and
young people can become involved in imaginary play and can help develop motor activity. They
should also allow interaction in a safe environment. Play is seen as the language that can bring

with other children they develop social skills and learn about behaviour, communication and
friendship. Play is the tool for practical learning

46. Today, The United States Illustrates Many Circumstances
Today, the United States illustrates many circumstances of race in which a group of a given descent
is discriminated against solely based on their physical appearance, despite the high demand for
equality. Linda Darling Hammond states that the color line divides [populations] still... even in the
21st century and will continue to divide people in future centuries ( Unequal Opportunity: Raceand
Education ). Some debacles of race include those of a minority population being targeted, however
the opposite is true for those trying to become a part of a college or university. In the college
application process, the federal government requires the administrators to ask which race the
applicant is from on their college application, in order to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During one point of the the film, the two of them went separately to a job application center in
which a white lady was working. To John, the lady was kind and had faith that he would
definitely fulfil her clients wishes for an employee without really knowing him, however, to Glen,
she nearly immediately lectures him about how laziness is not acceptable and will do him no
good, despite the fact that he was John s equal. To show how many instances, big or small, of racism
are exhibited, even today, a news article published by CNN, states that 49 percent of blacks and
18 percent of whites believe racism to be a very serious problem ( Poll: Most Americans See
Lingering Racism In Others ), particularly in the college admissions process. Similarly, in the
college this process, race is a large determiner affecting whether or not a person is going to be
accepted into any given university, but on the contrary, whites face the hardship due to their lack
of diversity. Whites, particularly males, have a harder time being accepted into prestigious
colleges because the colleges have a strong desire for diversity in their student body, creating an
easier, less rigorous academic standard for someone of a
