The World Of The Asia Pacific War
The Asia Pacific War was like many other wars; it had an enormous impact on the world,
but in Japan and the United States it affected the way of life. Japanese American soldiers
had to overcome and withstand racism and hostility during this time from the Americans.
People were wary of Japanese Americans fighting for the United States, because it was
the Japanese of whom the Americans were fighting against. After the war, propaganda
films were made to convince people of a specific political point of influence throughout
the war. Two propaganda films that were made about the Asia Pacific War were Go for
Broke and Know Your Enemy.
Before I discuss the films and what differences were between the films, I want to
discuss what led to the Asia Pacific War. The Asia Pacific War began, because the
Japanese tried expanding in East Asia. Japanese invasions began with the Manchuria in
1931 and continued for over a decade. The Japanese were increasingly looking to expand
southward, because of Hitler s presence. Eventually Japan, Germany, and Italy had signed
the Tripartite Pact together, which created a military alliance between them, known as
the Axis. The United States did not feel threatened by the Japanese and their alliance, but
they imposed economic instability on Japan. Due to the lack of oil in Japan, the country
had stiffened. Most importantly, it drove Japan to attack Pearl Harbor. The attack
severely damaged the American fleet in the Harbor, preventing the Americans for
Exercise Benefits Essay

Exercise for the Body You know exercise is good for you but do you know how good?
At its most basic, exercise is any type of physical exertion we perform in an effort to
improve our health, shape our bodies, and boost performance (Waehner, Web). Adults,
men and women, and teens both benefit from exercise and physical activity in many
different ways. Exercise should play a key role in everyone s daily life, not only does it
boost self esteem, it also improves mental health and helps prevent depression, heart
disease, cardiovascular disease, Type II Diabetes, and, as always, obesity. Most people
agree that even though they may not look forward to doing a workout, they tend to ...

In addition, high levels of stress have been linked to weight gain. Whether it s hitting
the gym, swimming a couple laps in your pool, or even taking a brisk walk around
your neighborhood, exercise improves mental health and helps prevent depression
and anxiety. Exercise is a distraction that can get you away from the cycle of negative
thoughts that feed anxiety and depression. When one is active, blood and oxygen flow
to the brain are increased, growth factors that help create new nerve cells increase to
promote plasticity, and chemicals in the brain increase that help cognition, such as,
dopamine, serotonin, and glutamate (Physical Exercise, Web). As exercise is
increased, energy levels and serotonin are increased, which leads to improved mental
clarity (Sarnataro, Web). Studies show that exercise boosts activity in the brains
frontal lobes and the hippocampus. Doing something positive to manage anxiety or
depression is a healthy coping strategy. Trying to feel better by drinking alcohol,
dwelling on how badly you feel, or hoping anxiety or depression will go away on their
own can lead to worsening symptoms. Self esteem is defined as the experience of being
capable of meeting life s challenges and being worthy of happiness (Fresh, Web).
Developing healthy self esteem is a critical component of program aimed at self
improvement. In those who work out in the morning, endorphins, a
Problems Faced By Globalization And Technological Advances
Globalisation and technological advances are pushing the managers to solve
problems relating to the functionality of the organisation. Owing to the several
different and uncertain consequences associated with the possible problem solving
actions, it is critical for the manager to choose an effective methodology, whilst
considering the structure and dynamics of the organisation (Fischer, Greiff, and
Funke, 2012). From a managerial point of view, taking a decision to solve problems is
not an easy task. The problem solving process in organisations is often led by
uncertainty and vagueness, combined with the managers difficulties in developing an
appropriate problem definition, inadequate method selection or application, lack of
knowledge, or various other internal and external factors (Szarucki, 2013). With the
fast paced work culture, managers tend to ignore minor problems which might later
have a serious adverse effect on the organisation. Based on the suggestions made by
Nickerson, Yen, and Mahoney (2011) for effective problem solving, the first step I
would take towards solving an organisational problem, is to accept the fact that the
problem exists. My next target would be adopting an effective methodology to go
about the problem solving process. Current research in the problem solving techniques
points towards a 4 step process, as being effective. Based on the research carried out by
Szarucki (2013) and Hunsaker and Alessandra (2008), I would adopt this 4 phase process,
How Did Shigeru Miyamoto Influence The Entertainment
World
Shigeru Miyamoto, a famous designer from Nintendo is considered by many to be the
father of modern video games. He is known as one of biggest celebrities in gaming due
to his prolific career as a game designer. His work at the company has established
Nintendo as one of the biggest game developers. He has created many influential
games such as Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros., and The Legend of Zelda. He is
without a doubt a leader in the video game industry. He was born on November 16,
1952 at Sonobe, Japan. As a boy, Miyamoto was quite the imaginative child. He didn t
have too many toys and video games didn t exist back then, so he had to be creative
when it came to having fun. He would explore around the Sonobe area, the nearby
mountain, and a forest. His imaginative adventures in his youth may have contributed to
his ability to design games. He certainly needed to find ways to entertain... Show more

and Mario Bros. Nintendo was attempting to sell a console they had been developing
and the company needed more games to sell the console. Miyamoto decided to work
on one of the best selling games of all time: Super Mario Bros. The game featured
Mario and his recently introduced twin, Luigi as they travelled through the Mushroom
Kingdom to save a princess from the clutches of Bowser. The game is considered to be
a classic among fans of video games due to its polished gameplay and groundbreaking
design. According to G4TV: The game almost single handedly saved the video game
industry after the market crashed a few years before. After the success of Super Mario
Bros. Miyamoto helped make The Legend of Zelda, a game that was inspired by his
adventures as a child. The game was mostly focused on exploring the various regions of
Hyrule and solving puzzles to eventually save the kingdom. Over the next couple
decades he would eventually create other popular games like F Zero, Star Fox, and
The Congo-Kinshasa
The Democratic Republic of the Congo, or also known as the Congo Kinshasa, is the
second poorest country in the world, and the poorest in Africa as of 2015. It is also one
of the largest countries in Africa, and as a result of the generous population, the country
is poverty stricken. The Congo has beautiful traditions, cultures, and art that is known and
appreciated around the world. Though, also struggles with a mixture of awful health,
financial system, and unemployment problems. The Democratic Republic of the Congo

Mealworms Lab Report
Zophobas morio Preference between a vanilla or coffee abstract
Tylar Lauby
Tuesdays at 6pm
23 September 2014
Abstract Zophobas morio, also known as mealworms, is the larva of the beetles called
tenebrionid beetles. These beetles have a tendency of mainly eating grass and sticks,
and they also tend to burrow. This lab study is to find out if the Z. morio prefer the
smell of coffee abstract or the sweet vanilla abstract. The way we did this study was by
taking a habitat with oats in it and see what side the mealworms would prefer (the
coffee side or the vanilla side). My conclusion of what side the mealworms preferred is
the vanilla abstract over the coffee. This might have been so because they may have
liked the sweeter smell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mealworms seemed to have preferred the side with vanilla more than coffee. In the
scientific method you have several steps that take place. These steps include observe,
develop questions, test, collect information, analyze the findings, form conclusions, share
results, and finally conduct more research (Schiff, 2015). We have done all of these
besides conduct more research. More research needs to be done in order to find out more
accurately if these test findings are accurate. I question my findings because the abstracts
are both human creations making me wonder why they would go to either or if they had
the diet that they do. After finding information about the mealworms I would have
changed my hypothesis to them wanting to go over to the coffee abstract more. This is
because it s more of a natural food and it isn t has sweet smelling as that of vanilla
abstract. The test results surprised me when after the first test. This is because I
figured the mealworms would go to vanilla because of the sweeter smell. But
surprisingly they went to the coffee side more. The second and third test the
mealworms went more of where I originally thought. I figured that all three of the test
would be more like the last test was like. Mealworms can be a pest in a house. They
can get into your flour, corn meal, or any other type of house grains (Arizona, 1997).
This is why some students did their testing on some other surfaces so we could see that
they can survive in more than just
Why Is Walt Whitman Considered A Transcendentalism
The elegy When lilacs last in the dooryard bloom d, written by Walt Whitman in 1865,
extraordinarily emphasizes on the unexpected loss of love, succinctly portrayed through
the combination of three parts of free verse poems containing constant comparison
between transcendentalism and realism that sums up to 216 lines. Abraham Lincoln,
assassinated in 1865, is the man whom Whitman always talks about, despite never been
mentioned by name. The first section, stanza 1 4, conveys his massive depression and
ruthless despair through the metaphorical lilacs. The second, stanza 5 9, depicts an
emotional dramatization when the coffin is in progress to be buried. The third, stanza 10
13, indicates the tributes and the actions that Whitman is willing to do the best he could
for the dead Lincoln. Stanza 14 16 sums up the motif and symbolisms to develop the
ideology of reconciliation of the eternal loss. Whitman illuminates his reconciliation on
the feeling of great loss through his personal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Emerson, an American essayist and also one of the developers of the
Transcendentalism, influenced Whitman to learn to trust his own experience. Emerson
also praises Whitman that every word selection Whitman chooses are all carefully
chosen. Emerson says If you cut his words, they will bleed . (Proust Neuro Science
book). This metaphor indicates how important people think toward Whitman s words.
Whitman later discovers that we do not have the body, we are a body . This implies
that people do not just move their body, but people hold the energy to move their body.
The whole message is about being alive and
A Long Way Gone Language Analysis
Approximately 300,000 child soldiers are actively serving in military forces, terrorist
organizations, and gangs. In 1993 and at the age of 13, Ishmael Beah was forced into the
same horrendous situation. Ishmael Beah s A Long Way Gone depicts his own journey
of loss, military recruitment, and rehabilitation. Ishmael Beah uses figurative language to
support the theme that the capacity for true evil is present in everyone if they are given
apt incentive.
Ishmael Beah uses metaphors in A Long Way Gone to reinstate the overarching theme
that everyone has the capacity for true evil. This is shown in the story when Ishmael
Beah tells the reader about the wild boar story that he was told by his grandmother before
the war: My grandmother once told ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One quote that describes the villainous nature of men given incentive to execute
hideous crimes was Do you have any last words to say? The old man at this point was
unable to speak. His lips trembled, but he couldn t get a word out. The rebel pulled
the trigger, and like lightning, I saw the spark of fire that came from the muzzle (Beah
33). This simile is used to improve the sentence and show how the people are truly
inhumane in their ways. However, previously in the page, they were described as
teenagers around the age of Ishmael, his brother, and their friends. The Rebel United
Front child soldiers were torturous to the old man before they killed him. They were
cold and showed no emotion, informing the reader that they had done this many, many
times before. This would never had happen previous to the war in Sierra Leone. This
is shown by the quote, Before the war a young man wouldn t have dared to talk to
anyone older in such a rude manner. We grew up in a culture that demanded good
behaviour from everyone, and especially from the young. Young people were required
to respect their elders and everyone in the community (Beah 33). This shows how
previous to the war children were respectful to all and because of the war, they are
able to commit the worst crimes. Therefore, the young age of these boys and their
terrifying savagery shows how anyone is capable of evil. On other paths of the village
were the half burnt remains of those who had fought fiercely to free themselves, only to
die outside. They lay on the ground in different postures of pain, some reaching for
their heads, the white bones in their jaws visible, others curled up like a child in a
womb, frozen (Beah 94 95). This quote shows the atrocities that the young children are
able to commit because of their horrible circumstances. This is reinforced later
The Future Leaders In Steven Doll s Only A Teacher
The future of the world is in my classroom today, Ivan Welton Fitzwater pens this
powerful line in his poem Only a Teacher? (Zbick, 2017). This is a compelling idea
that encompasses my belief of the role of the school. Students, as defined in this
school, are prepared to critically analyze society and challenge societal norms;
therefore, becoming the future leaders of the world. However, a school is impacted by
other factors that can redefine this role of developing the future leaders. The curriculum
is defined as everything that falls under the umbrella of the school (J. Corabi, personal
communication, July 17, 2018). Therefore, the role of the school is defined by the
curriculum of the school. This means that the curriculum can determine the number of
extracurricular activities, clubs, advanced placement (AP) courses, and more that a
school offers to the students. Furthermore, as the curriculum defines the role of the
school the students become impacted by this defining role. Steven Gross provides a
unique perspective on a student s area of learner development. Ronald Doll presents a
variety of perspectives that about how the curriculum is created and the impact it has on
the role of the school. These two educational leaders allow for further analysis on how
curriculum defines the role of the school. Steven Gross used the word agenda to
describe a curriculum, which is one part of a triangle the other two sides are instruction
and assessment (J. Corabi,
How Did Pele Change The World
The Myth, The Legend, Pele! Edison Arantes do Nascimento, also known known as Pele
in the soccer world, is one of the most talented and respected soccer players in the world.
I chose Pele because he is good at soccer and he is one of my favorite soccer players in
the world. In this essay I will explain how Pele shaped and changed the world of soccer.
Pele was born in Três Corações, Brazil (Bio.com). Pele grew up poor and lived in
poverty, but that didn t stop him from pursuing his dreams (Bio.com). Pele developed
his kicking skills by kicking a rolled up sock stuffed with rags around the streets of
Bauru ; he learned to kick a soccer ball without even having one (Bio.com). Pele took
on many unusual jobs to help his family earn a little bit more money (Bio.com). Later in
life, Pele found him placed in the Bauru Athletic Club (Bio.com). He led the team with
three victories from 1954 to 1956 (Bio.com). Furthermore, he won many indoor soccer
contests and championships (Bio.com). Which was a start to his soccer career.... Show

the tunnel. This means he was the success at the end. Furthermore, as the life of Pele
kept continuing he had once stopped a war (Pele)! Pele s influence in soccer had
stopped the Nigeria s forty eight hour cease fire in 1967(Pele)! Then in 1978 Pele was
awarded with the International Peace Award for his work in the
Tangererine Rhetorical Analysis
Most people have had a mentor at one time in their life. In Edward BloorВґs novel
Tangerine, Paul has a mentor as well. Theresa proves to be the mythological archetype
the mentor to Paul because she gives him advice, aids him, and helps him. First,
Theresa is the mentor to Paul because she gives him advice. Theresa motivates Paul by
saying the good things about Tangerine Middle. For instance, the text says, ВЁMon.
Sept. 18, Paul is starting school at Tangerine MiddleВЁ (Bloor 97). Paul meets
Theresa, she is a tour guide at the school. She tells Paul to try out for the soccer team
by telling him how good it is. She said she would introduce Paul to the soccer team,
and her one brother Tino is on it. This shows that Theresa motivates Paul that
Tangerine Middle isn t that bad. This portrays imagery of Theresa showing Paul
around on the first day. It reveals how nice Theresa is by helping the new kid (paul).
The tone of the quote shows seriousness. These statements show how Theresa
motivates paul in the quote. She motivates him that not all people are bad. Theresa
says, I just figured you guys would all be looking down your noses at us. And some of
those kids were. But not you (292). This shows how Theresa gave the new kid a chance.
It suggests imagery of the new kids looking down their noses at them. It s ironic because
she expected him to not like tangerine, but it was the total opposite. The quote shows
how helpful she is. These statements show Theresa is unlike anyone else
Acquisition Of A New Company
1.a) As Basques Steiner ( B S ), we will begin by first commenting on the characteristics
of the merger and then discuss the relevance of preferred stock to Pressler Awari (PA)
and their completion of the merger.
As stated, an initial informational basis for the merger must be outlined. PA and RK,
both manufacturers of automobiles, have significant synergies in terms of business fit
similar markets and potential goals for cost cutting, increased market share, etc. These
synergies are specific and thus give rise to potential clear motives for the merger. Mergers
produce a single unified company, constituting the production of a new company through
the conclusion of another. It is due to this fact that it is necessary to review ... Show more

In regards to voting rights on material changes, the preferred stockholders of PA will
have a particularly significant influence on the decision to merge with RK as a merger
denotes a significant change to the company. Ultimately, the preferred stockholders must
vote for the merger for the merger to be completed. Should they vote against the merger,
the merger cannot occur if the preferred stockholders maintain a controlling share. Rights
to dividends indicate the preferential treatment in preferred stockholders receiving
dividends should available funding for payments be limited. Should the new company
PARK pay dividends, the preferred stockholders may be more inclined to vote and
participate in the merger. Convertibility rights allow holders to transform holdings of
preferred stock to a dollar value should the company experience bankruptcy or a similar
fate. Finally, liquidation rights indicate PA s priority in paying these preferred
stockholders should they find themselves in a state of liquidation.
Additionally, preferred stock also has certain tax consequences in this particular merger.
If the merger had used only common stock, the transaction would not be taxable, as the
seller has not given up any risk or exposure. This would have significant implications on
the financial statements in terms of taxes paid and should thus be evaluated in greater
detail during the calculation of the merger cost. In considerations for mergers, business
fit and financial fit are

Games are very popular nowadays and people can now pick and chose a game they

Characteristics Of The Olmec Civilizations
Olmec is located at Mexico which is the oldest civilization that we found so far. The
Olmec civilization was the ancestor of Mesoamerica culture. The Olmec civilization had
major contributions in art, architecture, and sculpture. The most significant feature was
the giant head sculpture. Culturally, the Maya and Aztec civilizationswere formed up
based of the Olmec as an example to follow. Aztec is one of the oldest civilizations in the
world. The Tenochtitlan city is the best example representing their culture. The city is
well organized by establishing different utility systems. Gods in Aztec were being
categorized into farming, rain, fertility, sacrifice, and combat. The priests performed
ritual human sacrifice to respect their gods and hope to have great acquisition of food
for a year.Inca is the most well developed civilization in South America. (U.S. History

mummified into the afterlife. Inca people also worshipped the god of the sun called Inti.
Instead of performing human sacrifice practice, they usually offer food, clothing, and
other stuff to worship their mighty god. (U.S. History pg 13 14) Maya civilizationhad
major important contributions to math and architecture. They used math to calculate
crop yields, size of population, and trade. The Maya civilization relied heavily on
agriculture. That is the reason why the civilization had abundance of food. Because of

The Chile Of Peru And Chile
For the fault zone that I chose to research for this project, I chose the Peru Chile Trench,
also known as the Chile Subduction Megathrust and as the Atacama Trench. It is called
that because the area between Peru and Chile is called The Atacama , and such was the
plate named. The Peru Chile trench is located along the western coast of Peru and Chile.
It marks the zone where the Nazca plate is being subducted beneath the South American
plate and is approximately 3,666 miles long. (Britannica, p.1)

Therefore, there are many seismic events that have taken place on our geologic timeline
and at the same time shaped our historic timeline.
The most recent large scale earthquake along the Peru Chile Plate was the 16 September
earthquake, which happened in 2015. It measured an M 8.3, one of the largest on
record. 5 were killed, and over 1 million were evacuated from greatly affected areas.
However, compared to other earthquakes that have taken place in Chile, this one was
moderate.
In 2010, an 8.8 Mw earthquake shook Chile. It was approximately 200 miles southwest
of Chile and was approximately 375 miles long. A 2014 study attributed the quake to
immense water pressure located between the two plates. The region was stricken by
strong aftershocks for months after the quake, many of a magnitude of 5.0 Mw or greater.
The Tsunami that took place after the initial quake was caused by a portion of seabed
rupturing upwards, and displacing a large portion of the water being displaced. This
water traveled at 450 miles, at 8 feet tall, to the Chilean and Peruvian coast. Early
viewers of the tsunami later reported waves being up to 10 feet tall. This rupture was
believed to be caused by 2 unusually dense pieces of seabed that had been previously
undetected by scientists, and consequently caused a large displacement of water. There
were also small ruptures of seismic
Relativism Is Relative
There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.[1] Hamlet: Act 2, Scene
2. Contemplating this interesting idea, severe doubt shall rise. Is good relative?. How
do we define good ?. Is not good based on facts?. Are facts themselves relative?. If facts
are relative, does this whole life make sense?. To get some adequate answers, we
should take a look on relativism, a criticizing look in fact. In this paper, I will argue that
relativism can not be true. I shall also try to disprove relativism using one of the
arguments by Plato. It was first noted in his book Theaetetus in which Socrates had great
debates with the relativists. The argument goes as follows:
Protagoras holds a contradiction
1: Protagoras believes truth is a matter of opinion
2: I believe relativism is false
3: If p2 then a relativist should believe my idea regarding his belief is true First of all,
a definition of relativism should be introduced. Relativism is the philosophical view that
no universal truth exists. Every fact and opinion are true within themselves relative to
their holder [2]. This very doctrine started with Protagoras, the well known for his
achievements in mathematics. Protagoras held some interesting views. His famous
quote Of all things the measure is Man, of the things that are, that they are, and of the
things that are not, that they are not sums it all [3]. He believed that truth is a matter of
opinion and a man is not entitled to his only opinion but to other men s opinions despite
contradicts may exist [4]. This philosophical view, held also by sophists, stated that truth
may not be relative to human only but to different cultures, societies or different ages.
This became very clear when Thermasys defined justice as only doing what is in the
interest of the strongest, a definition refuted easily by Socrates [5]. To be clearer,
relativism holds no universals but things relative to them it measures. Through this paper,
I shall break the whole case into fragments.
Back to our first premise, I should try to explain why a relativist could hold such a view.
Most of the relativists, including Protagoras, believed that knowledge is gathered by
experience, a doctrine they share with empiricists [6].
Ernest Hemingway Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Hemingway chose a unique approach to his story. Many short stories are filled with
formal speech. However, Hemingway presented to us his story, without using exquisite
words or elongated sentences. His writing was direct and minimal, but also precise. The
author allowed us to create our own environment, by playing off common experiences in
everyday life. By doing that he produced an atmosphere that can easily be fashioned and
manipulated by the reader in order to create a relatable surrounding.
Hemingway uses a neutral to informal diction in his story. He chose to utilize words like
ridiculous and unimportant rather than lavish terms such as ludicrous, preposterous,
insignificant, or inconsequential. Much of the story is also written with nominal
descriptive detail, and much is left up to the imagination. He exploited the vast minds of
his readers, by presenting them with the opportunity to generate a world than they
themselves could fully understand.

the most influential thinkers of the time were the Italian humanist Leon Battista Alberti,
the Florentine politician NiccolГІ Machiavelli, and the German monk Martin Luther.

Leon Battista Alberti s On the Family (1435) is a dialogue between the brothers of a
wealthy merchant banking Italian family at the deathbed of the patriarch. Alberti, one of
the original humanists, puts forward an optimistic view of human nature through the
characters discussion about the correct way to run a family. Although his family was
exiled from Florence, the ban had been lifted and Alberti had gone back home and then
on to Rome before be began writing On the Family (RWC, 78). His optimism reflects the
newfound faith in the ancients held by those in Renaissance Italy, and his family s great
fortune.
Alberti opens his dialogue with:
[N]ature strives to produce all things as complete, both in inherent strength and in
various members, as is fitting and proper, with no defects or imperfections...we can
affirm with certainty that all mortals are endowed by nature with the ability to love and
to put into practice even the most praised virtue (virtГ№). And virtue is nothing else than
nature, properly produced and perfect in itself. (Alberti, RWC, 79 80).
Alberti sees nature and man tending towards good and even perfection. He
acknowledges that evil exists, but sees it as a result of bad habits and corrupted reason,
both of which proceed from erroneous opinion and mental deficiency. (Alberti, RWC,
80). As an early humanist, his

Julia Lorraine Hill Research Paper
Julia Butterfly Hill Civil Disobedience has been around for hundreds of years. This a
practice first put into play by a man by the name of Henry David Thoreau who
believed that if you didn t agree with a rule then you should act against it in a
nonviolent way, and be willing to accept any punishment that comes with it. His
teachings were followed by famous activists such as Ghandi, and Martin Luther King
Jr., and many others. Julia Lorraine Hill s life journey started on February 18th of
1974 in Mount Vernon, Minnesota (Watson). Due to her parents career as Christian
preachers, she lived on the road for the early years of her life until settling down in
Jonesboro, Arkansas, in her teens. When Julia was 22, she suffered a near fatal car
crash resulting in a head injury where the steering wheel went into her skull

period, she had time to reevaluate her life and decided that there was more she needed
to do with her time on Earth. As soon as she was healthy once more she went to the road
and headed out west. During her excursion, she learned of the redwood forests of
California and the threats towards them. Julia was awestruck... Show more content on

What Is The Theme Of The Victorian Era
The Victorian era was the period of good peace, wide extremes, prosperity and elegance,
while in the Monarchy of Queen Victoria s reign. This period began in 1837 and ended in

many components to a movie one would not have known by just viewing it in a

The most prominent motivation appears to be taking advantage of the most lucrative

Kansas with her Aunt and Uncle. She is swept away by a tornado into Munchkin

Meaning Behind the Painting, The Battle of Alexander at Issus
The Battle of Alexander at Issus is Albrecht Altdorfer s most famous painting
(www.wikipedia.org). Painted in 1528 9, the oil painting depicts a young Alexander the
Great in 333 BC, at the point of victory over the Persian army of King Darius III in the
battle of Issus (www.ibiblio.org). Issus was an ancient town in southeast Asia Minor near
modern day Iskenderum, Turkey, however on the painting it is shown in the rocky
environment of the Alps with German cities in the background (www.ibiblio.org).
Altdorfer, a painter, engraver, architect, and leading member of the Danube School of
German art, is considered the first true landscape painter and a pioneer of copperplate
etching (www.ibiblio.org). Battle of Alexander and Darius at Issus was... Show more

The Battle of Issus, is atypical in his work, in both its size and subject matter
(ww.wikipedia.org). The painting is made up of a number of miniatures of battle
scenes he had done much earlier for his manuscript Triumphal Procession in 1512 14
(www.wikipedia.org). He signed the painting with a monogram in the lower left hand
corner, dating it 1529, and also inscribed it: Albrecht Altorfer Zu Regenspvrg Fecit on
the bottom edge of the banner panel in the sky (www.wikipedia.org). Despite the
grandeur of scale, Altdorfer displays a miniaturist s mastery of brush stoke, with every
tiny figure rendered in exacting detail (Phaidon 409). The topographic landscape was
imaginatively adapted by Altdorfer from a map of the lands around the Mediterranean
and stretches as far as the Nile Valley (Phaidon 409). Behind the huge armies are the
mountains of Asia Minor in the front of the Mediterranean Sea and Cyprus
(www.wikipedia.org). In the background are Palestine, Sinai, the Red Sea, and Africa
with the meandering Nile River heading for the Nile Delta in front of the gently bent
horizon and the dramatic setting sun (www.wikipedia.org). In the heavens, the sun and
the moon cast their light over the scene (Phaidon 409). While the all encompassing
landscape may allude to the scale of Alexander s victory, the diminutive figures lost in the
immensity of nature also seem to point to
Compare And Contrast David And The Evolution Of Art
The evolution of art, be it paintings, sculpture, poetry or music has impacted the world
towards a more observant and intelligent society. The Renaissance was a movement that
saw the reemergence of realistic depiction of human form and nature. These artists were
inspired by the ancient Greek and Roman art and it s culture. Renaissance masterpieces
incorporated accurate and harmonious proportions of the human body and balanced,
well thought out compositions relating to the ideas of an ideal world. The Baroque
movement came right after the Renaissance. It was developed in Rome, by the Catholic
church in the hope of reinventing itself. This style used a lot of drama and grandeur to
create a sense of awe. Considering our artistic heritage as a... Show more content on

Their beauty and perfection is one of the reasons why it s still considered a
masterpiece. Their creators have left us enough evidence of their mastery and are
immortals because of their work. The intention here is to compare the differences and
similarities of ; Michelangelo Buonarroti s and Gianlorenzo Bernini s representation
of David. According to the Old Testament, (Samuel, book 1) David was a shepherd
who was among the battle lines of the Israelites and who accepted the challenge to
fight Goliath, champion of the Philistines, one on one. David came out victorious
despite the lack of protection and armoury by cutting Goliath s head off after bringing
him down from his horse with a single stone shot. David, since then is considered a
symbol of bravery and intelligence. He s also a symbol of hope and strength for the
weak. He is the proof that there are other more important virtues aside from physical
strength that confide power. Due to this important symbology many artists decided to
create their own representation of how they saw this brave figure while giving a very
important message to the spectators. Some of these artists are Donatello, Ghiberti
Verrocchio, Michelangelo and
Acute Flares 177 Case Study
8.1. Management of acute flares 177 Acute flares are best handled by 1) identifying
the most immediate trigger factors (eg. fleas, specific 178 foods) and 2) using a
treatment that can provide immediate relief decreasing inflammation and pruritus. 179
The persistence of inflammation and the skin damage caused by self trauma can have
rapidly negative 180 effects not only on the comfort level of the animals but also to the
development of the secondary infections, 181 which can further complicate and
increase the severity of the clinical signs. While glucocorticoids have been 182 used for
a long time and are well known treatment with its pros and cons, the use of a JAK

recently released 198 biologic. This is a subcutaneous injection of the caninized anti
cIL 31 monoclonal antibody and is aimed 199 at blocking IL 31, which is a mediator
of pruritus in dogs [43]. Whether IL 31 is a main cytokine in canine 200 AD is still
under investigation. One study had failed to detect IL 31 in the skin of atopic dogs
altogether 201 and another study detected IL 31 in the serum of only 57% of atopic
dogs. Thus, although IL 31 injection 202 can induce pruritus in dogs, it is not clear
yet that this is a critical cytokine in canine AD. IL 31 monoclonal 203 antibody
provides approximately 60% reduction in pruritus according to owners and up to 50%
decrease 204 of CADESI in most atopic patients [44]. Benefit typically lasts one month
although great variability is seen 205 in clinical settings. This therapy appears to be
well tolerated with minimal propensity for triggering 206 immunity [45]. 207 As part
of the acute flare management, it is important to use topical therapy as adjunctive
strategy to 208 decrease pruritus and sooth the skin. Topical glucocorticoids can also be
used to provide fast relief, 209 particularly in patients with localized disease. If
infections are present, they need to be addressed to 210 decrease pruritus and allow

Tell Tale Heart Genre Analysis
How does Tell Tale Heart fit the horror genre? Chills run up and down your spine and
you begin to feel goosebumps on your arms. Quickly, the cold envelopes you and you
feel frozen. What is this? It is the effects of horror fiction. You might be wondering,
what in fact is the horror genre? The horror genre is not only the stories told at
midnight about ghosts and ghouls. It is simply a story with suspense and tensions.
Other details could be added such as good versus evil and supernatural versus natural.
The setting might be very spooky and the descriptions probably alarm the reader s
senses. The Tell Tale Heartfits the horror genre because of the plot and descriptive
writing. The plot is the sequence of events. It is how the story is organized. The plot
in The Tell Tale Heart qualifies this story to the horror genre. In the beginning, the
narrator is shown in his frustration toward people claiming that he is mad. The narrator
frantically begins to provide evidence of why he is not mad and reveals the details of
the murder. He describes his detestation toward the old man s vulture like eye. Later on,
the narrator gives a perfect and detailed description of his preparations and the act of
murdering the old man. Every night for 8 nights, he would go to the old man s room and
watch him. Then, when he was filled with confidence, the narrator murder the old man
and hid the body perfectly. In the end, the guilt of murdering the old man haunts him up
to the point that he

  • 2. The World Of The Asia Pacific War The Asia Pacific War was like many other wars; it had an enormous impact on the world, but in Japan and the United States it affected the way of life. Japanese American soldiers had to overcome and withstand racism and hostility during this time from the Americans. People were wary of Japanese Americans fighting for the United States, because it was the Japanese of whom the Americans were fighting against. After the war, propaganda films were made to convince people of a specific political point of influence throughout the war. Two propaganda films that were made about the Asia Pacific War were Go for Broke and Know Your Enemy. Before I discuss the films and what differences were between the films, I want to discuss what led to the Asia Pacific War. The Asia Pacific War began, because the Japanese tried expanding in East Asia. Japanese invasions began with the Manchuria in 1931 and continued for over a decade. The Japanese were increasingly looking to expand southward, because of Hitler s presence. Eventually Japan, Germany, and Italy had signed the Tripartite Pact together, which created a military alliance between them, known as the Axis. The United States did not feel threatened by the Japanese and their alliance, but they imposed economic instability on Japan. Due to the lack of oil in Japan, the country had stiffened. Most importantly, it drove Japan to attack Pearl Harbor. The attack severely damaged the American fleet in the Harbor, preventing the Americans for
  • 3. Exercise Benefits Essay Christopher Flores March 8, 2011 Mr. Haile 1301.155 Exercise for the Body You know exercise is good for you but do you know how good? At its most basic, exercise is any type of physical exertion we perform in an effort to improve our health, shape our bodies, and boost performance (Waehner, Web). Adults, men and women, and teens both benefit from exercise and physical activity in many different ways. Exercise should play a key role in everyone s daily life, not only does it boost self esteem, it also improves mental health and helps prevent depression, heart disease, cardiovascular disease, Type II Diabetes, and, as always, obesity. Most people agree that even though they may not look forward to doing a workout, they tend to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, high levels of stress have been linked to weight gain. Whether it s hitting the gym, swimming a couple laps in your pool, or even taking a brisk walk around your neighborhood, exercise improves mental health and helps prevent depression and anxiety. Exercise is a distraction that can get you away from the cycle of negative thoughts that feed anxiety and depression. When one is active, blood and oxygen flow to the brain are increased, growth factors that help create new nerve cells increase to promote plasticity, and chemicals in the brain increase that help cognition, such as, dopamine, serotonin, and glutamate (Physical Exercise, Web). As exercise is increased, energy levels and serotonin are increased, which leads to improved mental clarity (Sarnataro, Web). Studies show that exercise boosts activity in the brains frontal lobes and the hippocampus. Doing something positive to manage anxiety or depression is a healthy coping strategy. Trying to feel better by drinking alcohol, dwelling on how badly you feel, or hoping anxiety or depression will go away on their own can lead to worsening symptoms. Self esteem is defined as the experience of being capable of meeting life s challenges and being worthy of happiness (Fresh, Web). Developing healthy self esteem is a critical component of program aimed at self improvement. In those who work out in the morning, endorphins, a
  • 4. Problems Faced By Globalization And Technological Advances Globalisation and technological advances are pushing the managers to solve problems relating to the functionality of the organisation. Owing to the several different and uncertain consequences associated with the possible problem solving actions, it is critical for the manager to choose an effective methodology, whilst considering the structure and dynamics of the organisation (Fischer, Greiff, and Funke, 2012). From a managerial point of view, taking a decision to solve problems is not an easy task. The problem solving process in organisations is often led by uncertainty and vagueness, combined with the managers difficulties in developing an appropriate problem definition, inadequate method selection or application, lack of knowledge, or various other internal and external factors (Szarucki, 2013). With the fast paced work culture, managers tend to ignore minor problems which might later have a serious adverse effect on the organisation. Based on the suggestions made by Nickerson, Yen, and Mahoney (2011) for effective problem solving, the first step I would take towards solving an organisational problem, is to accept the fact that the problem exists. My next target would be adopting an effective methodology to go about the problem solving process. Current research in the problem solving techniques points towards a 4 step process, as being effective. Based on the research carried out by Szarucki (2013) and Hunsaker and Alessandra (2008), I would adopt this 4 phase process,

He is known as one of biggest celebrities in gaming due to his prolific career as a game designer. His work at the company has established Nintendo as one of the biggest game developers. He has created many influential games such as Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros., and The Legend of Zelda. He is without a doubt a leader in the video game industry. The game is considered to be a classic among fans of video games due to its polished gameplay and groundbreaking design. According to G4TV: The game almost single handedly saved the video game industry after the market crashed a few years before. After the success of Super Mario Bros. Miyamoto helped make The Legend of Zelda, a game that was inspired by his adventures as a child. The game was mostly focused on exploring the various regions of Hyrule and solving puzzles to eventually save the kingdom. Over the next couple decades he would eventually create other popular games like F Zero, Star Fox, and

  • 7. Mealworms Lab Report Zophobas morio Preference between a vanilla or coffee abstract Tylar Lauby Tuesdays at 6pm 23 September 2014 Abstract Zophobas morio, also known as mealworms, is the larva of the beetles called tenebrionid beetles. These beetles have a tendency of mainly eating grass and sticks, and they also tend to burrow. This lab study is to find out if the Z. morio prefer the smell of coffee abstract or the sweet vanilla abstract. The way we did this study was by taking a habitat with oats in it and see what side the mealworms would prefer (the coffee side or the vanilla side). My conclusion of what side the mealworms preferred is the vanilla abstract over the coffee. This might have been so because they may have liked the sweeter smell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mealworms seemed to have preferred the side with vanilla more than coffee. In the scientific method you have several steps that take place. These steps include observe, develop questions, test, collect information, analyze the findings, form conclusions, share results, and finally conduct more research (Schiff, 2015). We have done all of these besides conduct more research. More research needs to be done in order to find out more accurately if these test findings are accurate. I question my findings because the abstracts are both human creations making me wonder why they would go to either or if they had the diet that they do. After finding information about the mealworms I would have changed my hypothesis to them wanting to go over to the coffee abstract more. This is because it s more of a natural food and it isn t has sweet smelling as that of vanilla abstract. The test results surprised me when after the first test. This is because I figured the mealworms would go to vanilla because of the sweeter smell. But surprisingly they went to the coffee side more. The second and third test the mealworms went more of where I originally thought. I figured that all three of the test would be more like the last test was like. Mealworms can be a pest in a house. They can get into your flour, corn meal, or any other type of house grains (Arizona, 1997). This is why some students did their testing on some other surfaces so we could see that they can survive in more than just
  • 8. Why Is Walt Whitman Considered A Transcendentalism The elegy When lilacs last in the dooryard bloom d, written by Walt Whitman in 1865, extraordinarily emphasizes on the unexpected loss of love, succinctly portrayed through the combination of three parts of free verse poems containing constant comparison between transcendentalism and realism that sums up to 216 lines. Abraham Lincoln, assassinated in 1865, is the man whom Whitman always talks about, despite never been mentioned by name. The first section, stanza 1 4, conveys his massive depression and ruthless despair through the metaphorical lilacs. The second, stanza 5 9, depicts an emotional dramatization when the coffin is in progress to be buried. The third, stanza 10 13, indicates the tributes and the actions that Whitman is willing to do the best he could for the dead Lincoln. In 1993 and at the age of 13, Ishmael Beah was forced into the same horrendous situation. Ishmael Beah s A Long Way Gone depicts his own journey of loss, military recruitment, and rehabilitation. Ishmael Beah uses figurative language to support the theme that the capacity for true evil is present in everyone if they are given apt incentive. Ishmael Beah uses metaphors in A Long Way Gone to reinstate the overarching theme that everyone has the capacity for true evil. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One quote that describes the villainous nature of men given incentive to execute hideous crimes was Do you have any last words to say? The old man at this point was unable to speak. His lips trembled, but he couldn t get a word out. The rebel pulled the trigger, and like lightning, I saw the spark of fire that came from the muzzle (Beah 33). This simile is used to improve the sentence and show how the people are truly inhumane in their ways. However, previously in the page, they were described as teenagers around the age of Ishmael, his brother, and their friends. The Rebel United Front child soldiers were torturous to the old man before they killed him. They were cold and showed no emotion, informing the reader that they had done this many, many times before. This would never had happen previous to the war in Sierra Leone. This is shown by the quote, Before the war a young man wouldn t have dared to talk to anyone older in such a rude manner. We grew up in a culture that demanded good behaviour from everyone, and especially from the young. Young people were required to respect their elders and everyone in the community (Beah 33). This shows how previous to the war children were respectful to all and because of the war, they are able to commit the worst crimes. Therefore, the young age of these boys and their terrifying savagery shows how anyone is capable of evil. On other paths of the village were the half burnt remains of those who had fought fiercely to free themselves, only to die outside. They lay on the ground in different postures of pain, some reaching for their heads, the white bones in their jaws visible, others curled up like a child in a womb, frozen (Beah 94 95). This quote shows the atrocities that the young children are able to commit because of their horrible circumstances. This is reinforced later
  • 10. The Future Leaders In Steven Doll s Only A Teacher The future of the world is in my classroom today, Ivan Welton Fitzwater pens this powerful line in his poem Only a Teacher? (Zbick, 2017). This is a compelling idea that encompasses my belief of the role of the school. Students, as defined in this school, are prepared to critically analyze society and challenge societal norms; therefore, becoming the future leaders of the world. However, a school is impacted by other factors that can redefine this role of developing the future leaders. The curriculum is defined as everything that falls under the umbrella of the school (J. Corabi, personal communication, July 17, 2018). Therefore, the role of the school is defined by the curriculum of the school. This means that the curriculum can determine the number of extracurricular activities, clubs, advanced placement (AP) courses, and more that a school offers to the students. Furthermore, as the curriculum defines the role of the school the students become impacted by this defining role. Steven Gross provides a unique perspective on a student s area of learner development. Ronald Doll presents a variety of perspectives that about how the curriculum is created and the impact it has on the role of the school. These two educational leaders allow for further analysis on how curriculum defines the role of the school. Steven Gross used the word agenda to describe a curriculum, which is one part of a triangle the other two sides are instruction and assessment (J. Corabi,

Edison Arantes do Nascimento, also known known as Pele in the soccer world, is one of the most talented and respected soccer players in the world. I chose Pele because he is good at soccer and he is one of my favorite soccer players in the world. In this essay I will explain how Pele shaped and changed the world of soccer. Pele was born in TrГЄs Corações, Brazil (Bio.com). Pele grew up poor and lived in poverty, but that didn t stop him from pursuing his dreams (Bio.com). Pele developed his kicking skills by kicking a rolled up sock stuffed with rags around the streets of Bauru ; he learned to kick a soccer ball without even having one (Bio.com). Pele took on many unusual jobs to help his family earn a little bit more money (Bio.com). Later in life, Pele found him placed in the Bauru Athletic Club (Bio.com). • 12. Tangererine Rhetorical Analysis Most people have had a mentor at one time in their life. In Edward BloorВґs novel Tangerine, Paul has a mentor as well. Theresa proves to be the mythological archetype the mentor to Paul because she gives him advice, aids him, and helps him. First, Theresa is the mentor to Paul because she gives him advice. Theresa motivates Paul by saying the good things about Tangerine Middle. For instance, the text says, ВЁMon. Sept. 18, Paul is starting school at Tangerine MiddleВЁ (Bloor 97). Paul meets Theresa, she is a tour guide at the school. She tells Paul to try out for the soccer team by telling him how good it is. She said she would introduce Paul to the soccer team, and her one brother Tino is on it. This shows that Theresa motivates Paul that Tangerine Middle isn t that bad. This portrays imagery of Theresa showing Paul around on the first day. It reveals how nice Theresa is by helping the new kid (paul). The tone of the quote shows seriousness. These statements show how Theresa motivates paul in the quote. She motivates him that not all people are bad. Theresa says, I just figured you guys would all be looking down your noses at us. And some of those kids were. But not you (292). This shows how Theresa gave the new kid a chance. It suggests imagery of the new kids looking down their noses at them. It s ironic because she expected him to not like tangerine, but it was the total opposite. The quote shows how helpful she is. These statements show Theresa is unlike anyone else

PA and RK, both manufacturers of automobiles, have significant synergies in terms of business fit similar markets and potential goals for cost cutting, increased market share, etc. These synergies are specific and thus give rise to potential clear motives for the merger. In regards to voting rights on material changes, the preferred stockholders of PA will have a particularly significant influence on the decision to merge with RK as a merger denotes a significant change to the company. Ultimately, the preferred stockholders must vote for the merger for the merger to be completed. Should they vote against the merger, the merger cannot occur if the preferred stockholders maintain a controlling share. Rights to dividends indicate the preferential treatment in preferred stockholders receiving dividends should available funding for payments be limited. Should the new company PARK pay dividends, the preferred stockholders may be more inclined to vote and participate in the merger. Convertibility rights allow holders to transform holdings of preferred stock to a dollar value should the company experience bankruptcy or a similar fate. Finally, liquidation rights indicate PA s priority in paying these preferred stockholders should they find themselves in a state of liquidation. Additionally, preferred stock also has certain tax consequences in this particular merger. If the merger had used only common stock, the transaction would not be taxable, as the seller has not given up any risk or exposure. This would have significant implications on the financial statements in terms of taxes paid and should thus be evaluated in greater detail during the calculation of the merger cost. In considerations for mergers, business fit and financial fit are

The most recent large scale earthquake along the Peru Chile Plate was the 16 September earthquake, which happened in 2015. It measured an M 8.3, one of the largest on record. 5 were killed, and over 1 million were evacuated from greatly affected areas. However, compared to other earthquakes that have taken place in Chile, this one was moderate. In 2010, an 8.8 Mw earthquake shook Chile. It was approximately 200 miles southwest of Chile and was approximately 375 miles long. A 2014 study attributed the quake to immense water pressure located between the two plates. The region was stricken by strong aftershocks for months after the quake, many of a magnitude of 5.0 Mw or greater. The Tsunami that took place after the initial quake was caused by a portion of seabed rupturing upwards, and displacing a large portion of the water being displaced. This water traveled at 450 miles, at 8 feet tall, to the Chilean and Peruvian coast. Early viewers of the tsunami later reported waves being up to 10 feet tall. This rupture was believed to be caused by 2 unusually dense pieces of seabed that had been previously undetected by scientists, and consequently caused a large displacement of water. • 17. Relativism Is Relative There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.[1] Hamlet: Act 2, Scene 2. Contemplating this interesting idea, severe doubt shall rise. Is good relative?. How do we define good ?. Is not good based on facts?. Are facts themselves relative?. If facts are relative, does this whole life make sense?. To get some adequate answers, we should take a look on relativism, a criticizing look in fact. In this paper, I will argue that relativism can not be true. I shall also try to disprove relativism using one of the arguments by Plato. It was first noted in his book Theaetetus in which Socrates had great debates with the relativists. The argument goes as follows: Protagoras holds a contradiction 1: Protagoras believes truth is a matter of opinion 2: I believe relativism is false 3: If p2 then a relativist should believe my idea regarding his belief is true First of all, a definition of relativism should be introduced. Relativism is the philosophical view that no universal truth exists. Every fact and opinion are true within themselves relative to their holder [2]. This very doctrine started with Protagoras, the well known for his achievements in mathematics. Protagoras held some interesting views. His famous quote Of all things the measure is Man, of the things that are, that they are, and of the things that are not, that they are not sums it all [3]. He believed that truth is a matter of opinion and a man is not entitled to his only opinion but to other men s opinions despite contradicts may exist [4]. This philosophical view, held also by sophists, stated that truth may not be relative to human only but to different cultures, societies or different ages. This became very clear when Thermasys defined justice as only doing what is in the interest of the strongest, a definition refuted easily by Socrates [5]. To be clearer, relativism holds no universals but things relative to them it measures. Through this paper, I shall break the whole case into fragments. Back to our first premise, I should try to explain why a relativist could hold such a view. Most of the relativists, including Protagoras, believed that knowledge is gathered by experience, a doctrine they share with empiricists [6].

However, Hemingway presented to us his story, without using exquisite words or elongated sentences. His writing was direct and minimal, but also precise. The author allowed us to create our own environment, by playing off common experiences in everyday life. By doing that he produced an atmosphere that can easily be fashioned and manipulated by the reader in order to create a relatable surrounding. Hemingway uses a neutral to informal diction in his story. He chose to utilize words like ridiculous and unimportant rather than lavish terms such as ludicrous, preposterous, insignificant, or inconsequential.
