Self Actualization In Hamlet
According to Maslow s hierarchy of needs, basic necessities, such as food, water, and shelter must be
obtained before beginning the process of self actualization. Self actualization is a hard concept to
explain, especially if one has not experienced it. Throughout his life, the intelligent reader must
distinguish what self actualization is, as well as how to actively engage in it. This involves asking
oneself questions, such as Who am I? or Why am I here? , and not responding with a rehearsed
interview answer that everyone has prepared at some point in their life. The process of self
actualization involves thinking about what happens, if anything, after death. Is there an afterlife, or are

In the beginning of the story, Meursault is unnerved by his mother s death and quickly moves along in
his life. In fact, Meursault seems unemotional during most of the book. The existentialist part of
Meursault finds it difficult to know what love is. For example, when Marie asks if Meursault loves
her, he replies that [love] didn t mean anything but that [he] didn t [think] so (Camus 35). This lends
itself to the question of what love actually is. Is love spending time with people you care about, or is it
a myth that society has taught us to believe in? Meursault would argue the latter as his relationships
with both his mother and Marie don t involve much emotion. Another instance in which Meursault
exhibits existentialist behavior is when he shoots the Arab on the beach. What drives Meursault to
shoot is not the Arab drawing his knife, but rather the intense sun and the sweat running down his
face. During the days after the shooting, Monsieur Meursault doesn t understand why he needs an
attorney. It is easy for him to understand; he commits a murder, and he is ready to face the
consequences for his actions. There s a lot of meaning hidden in the novel s title. Part of the
existentialist attitude is the idea of alienation, and Meursault is essentially a stranger to the world
around him. He never truly has a solid relationship, whether it be with his family, his

The Contribution Of The Treaty Of Versailles
On January 10, 1920, a peace document known as The Treaty of Versailles, signed by Germany and
the Allied Nations on June 28, 1919, took force. This agreement was the most powerful of the peace
treaties, bringing an end to World War I. Despite the peace it brought to the Allied Nations, it brought
nothing but devastations to all aspects of Germany. Due to its harsh and humiliating terms, twenty
years after its authentication, the treaty would trigger a second world war. Created as a document of
peace, The Treaty of Versailles would antithetically prompt WWII by promoting the infamous dictator
Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party to power.
Under the Treaty of Versailles, all German overseas colonies became League of Nation Mandates.
Germany was also forced to accept complete responsibility for initiating World War I, making them
responsible for paying all war damage. In addition, the German army was limited to 100,000 men, the
air force was banned from having combat aircraft, the navy lost nearly all of its surface ships and
submarines, and tanks were forbidden. These barbarous terms were set with the goal of preventing
another war by crippling Germany, but Germans viewed this as unfair, bringing nothing other than
indignant reactions. The Treaty of Versailles played a major role in bringing a Great Depression upon
Germany. German capital that would have been used to advance industry would rather be drained by
payments to the Allied Nations. In order to pay off WWI debt as

Essay on Sports Specialization
Sports Specialization
Sports are a popular pastime among all ages and types of people. People not only participate in them
for fun, but also for money, physical fitness, rush of competition, and for many other personal reasons.
Playing sports is especially common among young people in schools. Athletics are great and enjoyable
for many reasons, but there can be a point where sports participation can go too far and become
negative for children and adults. Sports specialization for young people is an increasing trend that
results in sports having a negative impact on individuals and society.
Sports specialization among young people is when a child or teenager trains for and competes in only
one sport. They work extremely hard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that young people now have the opportunity to get into professional sports at a younger age
now encourages this trend. If a young person is very successful at a sport, the media will rave on about
them and the publicity will only force them to work harder. Freddy Adu, a thirteen year old soccer
sensation, is getting large amounts of publicity for his remarkable skills (Goodall, 2003). He has been
featured in Sports Illustrated where he was referred to as the prodigy of American soccer (Wahl,
2003). Newsweek has also included articles about this remarkable soccer player, calling him a preteen
phenom (Starr, 2004). ESPN Soccernet also reported information about his amazing skills (Goodall,
2003). The publicity of Adu is making this young athlete a star and keeping other young athletes
focused on similar opportunities for themselves.
All of the publicity that is attained by success, and the possibility of this success, places a great deal of
pressure and stress on these young single sport athletes. This stress and pressure takes the fun out of
some sports. Youth sports are becoming serious and based more on winning than on having a great
time and learning good sportsmanship. Adu points out the winning mindset of athletes in this day and
age when he says, Teams will do anything to win the game. My coach told me to expect that going in
and that is exactly how it was. . .I felt like everybody was out to get me (Goodall, 2003). This

Oolite Boulders In Research Paper
Why do you need Oolite boulders? When planning a landscape project, many people will focus on
selecting trees, shrubbery, flowers, and other plants. Nonetheless, there are other aspects of a
landscape design needed to make it perfect. Boulders, paving stones, decorative gravel, water features,
and garden walls are hardscape features that will add beauty and elegance to your outdoor space.
Adding hard materials and build structures will add dimension, character, and artistry to your
landscape, makes it stand out from your neighbor s yard. Oolite boulders are a versatile material, with
a uniquely Floridian charm, that can perform aesthetic and functional duties. No matter the landscape
design idea, using natural boulders will add flare and make

Introduction
The main objective of the report will be to make a clear description on what effective performance
means by illustrating it with the help of a case of study, which will focus on the Kellogg s Company.
The report will also contain a critical vision of the link between performance management and its
capacity to create value to the organisation.
How an effective Performance Management Process could create Organisational Value
PM What? How?
Performance Management consists in the implementation by the organisations of strategic and
integrated actions that enhance performance and individual and team skills, in order to generate higher
levels of job performance. It is executed through leadership management, training, development and
appraising the whole system.
Performance Management is an ongoing process executed across the organisation and at all levels of
employment.
Lawler (2008) established that an effective performance management system needs to accomplish four
things. First needs to define and produce agreement on what performance is needed, second, needs to

Essay on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
What can happen to a fetus when a pregnant women drinks heavily during her pregnancy?
It can lead to permanent, irreversible and incurable effects that will bring a lifetime of pain for
both the child and the family. These permanent and unchangeable effects arise from a fetus
attaining fetal alcohol syndrome from its mother. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is a pattern of
malformations and disabilities resulting from a pregnant woman drinking heavily during her
pregnancy. FAS is unique in that effects on the children are directly linked to maternal drinking
habits. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is currently the leading cause of mental retardation in the United
States. A baby with FAS can suffer from mental retardation, central ... Show more content on

FAS is not necessarily the result of only
full blown alcoholism but rather it can result from drinking any amount of alcohol in excess of the
level to detoxify it thus placing the fetus at risk (Caleekal). A mother s nutritional status and
physical well being might also play roles of varying significance in determining whether an infant
is affected, and to what degree, by the prenatal exposure to alcohol (Berhow 364). The most
common effects seen is an increase in miscarriages. Babies can also be born at a low birth weight,
birth length, and with a small heads resulting from prenatal alcohol exposure. There are many
different factors that can produce birth defects from FAS. Agent (alcohol, crack, heroin) Dosage
(how much is used), Timing of Exposure (when is it used?), individual factors of mother and
child, genetic factors, nutritional factors, metabolic factors are what birth defects are dependent
on (Berhow 364).
FAS is characterized by three symptoms which affect different areas. The three areas
affected are; prenatal and/or postnatal growth retardation, Central Nervous System (CNS) and
head and facial abnormalities (Wynbrandt 208). With prenatal and postnatal growth retardation,
infants are born weighing less the average newborn and are shorter in length. The central nervous
system is composed of the brain and spinal cord. The nervous system develops in

Reflection Paper On Reading Skills
From working with Joe for the past few weeks, I noticed there were a few different reading skills that
he could use some practice with. One of the first things I noticed while working with Joe was his
fluency while reading. During the running records I had done with Joe, I was able to listen to his
reading pace, and noticed that he only took pauses when he needed to take a breath. I also noticed that
he used no expression while reading; not even when there was quotation marks present. Another
reading skill that Joe lacked was good use of a decoding strategy. When Joe was presented with a
word he didn t know, he would use picture cues, but when that didn t work, or when illustrations were
minimal, Joe would simply skip over the word. When I asked Joe what he liked to do when he came
across a word he didn t know he said, I don t know . I got a similar answer when I asked him if he
knew what his teacher, and friends did when they came across a word they didn t know. This
observation showed me that Joe could really benefit from having a decoding strategy presented to him
in a minilesson. On the first day of co teaching; my partner and I focused on teaching a decoding
strategy, so we could practice that strategy if needed while doing a fluency exercise the next time we
met. Taberski mentions how working with words, and decoding strategy will help students move from
hesitancy to fluency (pg 87). Both Alexa and I thought that our learning partners could benefit from

Child’s Play is Serious Business Essay
For young children, there is no distinction between play and learning; they are one and the same.
Playing is a priority in early childhood, yet not all play is the same (Butler, 2008, p. 1). Since the
beginning of mankind children have imitated adults and learned to survive through play. Evidence of
this includes toys and board games from 6,000 years ago that have been found in Egypt and Asia
(Dollinger, 2000). In the last two centuries, child s play has been observed and studied by theorists and
recognized as an important tool for adult life. Three theorists that studied children and spent their lives
researching how children develop were Erik Erikson, Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky. These theorists
agreed that from the time a child is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A young child is like a tree, when given nourishment and a safe environment to grow in, they will
become strong physically and mentally. Positively rewarded toddlers have more initiative to learn and
tend to contribute more to society than their negatively rewarded counterparts. Children, who are
neglected or ridiculed for their efforts, will experience their inner spirit and fire being extinguished.
They also tend to have slower mental capabilities with little or no initiative. Negatively reinforced
children are less willing to want to learn and thrive; they experience embarrassment, shame and guilt
for their discoveries. Erickson believed that children of this age also are learning important tasks
through repetition. Young toddlers may repeat tasks dozens of times. The same toddlers are able to
easily repeat the task days or weeks after the initial learning. Erikson theorized that children should be
allowed to explore and learn on their own at their own pace. Too much influence and forcing young
children to learn may weaken curiosity and lessen excitement of learning. This stage can be
summarized by saying that a preschooler with initiative expresses who they are, whereas a preschooler
with guilt does not (Nursing Resource Admin, 2010, p. 2). Jean Piaget, another theorist, had four
periods of life that he labeled key to human cognitive development. Piaget believed that through

Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier Essay
On March 4, 1921, an unknown soldier from World War I was buried with the approval of Congress in
the plaza of the Memorial Amphitheatre at Arlington National Cemetery. This serviceman was chosen
randomly out of four other servicemen from four individual gravesites located in France. Not only was
this soldier honored as a valiant trooper, but unknown soldiers from World War II and the Korean War
were honored and remembered at this site too. The soldier located in the Tomb of the Unknown
Soldier was buried with a white marble sarcophagus on top of the grave that has engravings of both
Greek figures and words that say an American soldier known but to God. The importance of this
mausoleum is that it honors those who were unidentified soldiers, and shows that our country will
honor our armed forces and respect them, whether they are known or unknown.
One of the Unknowns buried at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was the Unknown from World War
II. The trooper was chosen from two caskets, where one casket had the remains of a soldier that was
eliminated in Europe, and the other casket had the remains of a soldier that was eliminated in the
Pacific. Medal of Honor recipient Hospital Corpsman First Class William R. Charette had the honor of
choosing the remains to be sent to Arlington National Cemetery. As a result, the other casket with the
remains of the other soldier were buried at sea. Before the casket was buried, the casket of the World
War II Unknown was laid in the U.S.

Employee counseling in the workplace has gained distinction over the years and has become
increasingly important with the number of incidents related to stress related health issues ( ).
Furthermore, employee assistance programs (EAP) have become so popular that more than 60% of
large firms offer EAP services (Dessler, 2013). With corporations competing for success, excellence,
and the increasing intricacies of work, employees now experience enormous work life stress leading to
anxiety and depression. EAPs are programs intended to facilitate employee well being (Dessler, 2013).

Professional staffing is a necessity for the success of the EAP. Organizations should ensure EAP
personnel should be certified by professional or state licensing programs. Since 1970, EAPs have
experienced an expansion in certifications with the assistance from the Occupational Programs Branch
of National Institute on Alcohol and Alcoholism and the formation of the Association of Labor and
Management Consultants on Alcoholism (McCann, 2012). With the growth of EAPs, the
establishment of standards of professional practice and conduct was established under the Employee
Assistance Professional Association (EAPA) (McCann, 2012). Afterward, the Employee Assistance
Certification Commission (EACC) was created. The EACC established three critical skills required
for an individual to be certified; 1) Mastery of the requisite knowledge of employee assistance
principles, 2) Recognition of established professional standards of practice, and 3) Adherence to a
code of ethical conduct in the delivery of employee assistance services (McCann,

Animal Farm Followers
Animal farm is definitely a novel about leaders and followers. What lead me to believe this is how

Revelation 20
The thousand years in Revelation is only used six times and only in chapter 20 between verses 2 7. In
verse 7 it is a reference to after the thousand years and in this paper we will concentrate on verses 1 6
which focus on the thousand years themselves. Since a thousand years equals a millennium this term
we will be used interchangeably from this point forward. The millennium in Revelation 20 is only
used in reference to the reign of Jesus Christ after Satan the devil has been imprisoned. There are three
main views on this millennial reign they are Amillennial, Postmillennial, and Premillennial. While
there is much debate over the differences, all three views believe that Jesus is coming again, that there
will be a physical resurrection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The classical postmillennial view sees the millennium as a near future event. The modern
postmillennial view sees us as currently in the millennium. The postmillennial millennium may be an
actual or symbolic (long time) thousand years. Both see that by spreading the gospel, the church will
cause the world to continuously improve till the entire world comes to Christ. The conclusion of the
millennium will be the second coming of Jesus Christ and the defeat of the Devil. The view that the
church needs to continue spread the gospel and should except Christ to return at any time is correct.
As for the world continuing to improve it would seem to this author that the world is currently going
in the wrong direction. Gay and lesbian marriage has been legalized, abortion has been legalized, and
President Obama has said that we are not a Christian country. The Olivet Discourse (Matt 24; MK 13;
LK 21) does not lead one to see peace on earth before the return of Christ. It actually teaches the
opposite. How can we have the millennial reign of Christ and have false messiahs and prophets, wars,
famines, pestilence, persecution, and earthquakes? The postmillennial view requires that we ignore the
world s current state, and constrain the Olivet Discourse to the Jews of that time and the end of the
world as they knew

The History Of Early Law Enforcement

Mrs. Dozier

Law Enforcement
The history of early law enforcement really has been around since ancient times. In these times guards
that worked for the lords of kingdoms were assigned the job of collecting taxes. Though the first real
law enforcement as we see it today goes back to the colonial age in both England and newly found
America. Colonial America followed the the British form of a police organization. This idea was a
sheriff appointed by the governor of a colony, enforced laws, collected taxes and maintained public
property throughout the colony. In the times of these law enforcement efforts many were seen to be
largely inadequate to maintain order. As time went on many things went on to ... Show more content

These levels allow more control because some departments focus on bigger issues in the states where
as smaller local departments will work on smaller issues in their own communities. The amount law
enforcement has evolved over the years has made it more capable and able to deal with the problems
of this new age much different than that of the revolutionary time period. Law enforcement has
evolved because as time went on technologies came along which criminals had access to and crimes
got more creative and complex. For example a rather new crime with modern society and new
technologies brought on is cyberbullying. As the time went on and the law enforcement system
evolved and crimes got more serious and in depth and technologies advanced for both criminals and
police. This is why another important thing changed in law enforcement, the equipment that they
carry. The first law enforcements system in the United States in the pre revolutionary and
revolutionary times was the night watch which was similar to the modern day neighborhood watch.
They didn t wear uniforms or carry guns they mostly just watched out for suspicious activity and made
people aware of anything that went wrong. Then as time went on this equipment wasn t satisfactory
for the new age. This is when many cities start to make law enforcement systems became official by
issuing uniforms and guns many times. This made the law enforcement have a

Advantages Of Appeasement
What would have happened if Hitler was stopped before WWII? What if the Allied forces stopped
Germany before it climaxed? Historians wonder if Adolf Hitler could have been controlled better in a
more effective way or if appeasement was the right choice. However, evidence shows that another
method called collective security may have been the better option. Collective security was when
nations joined together to create a stronger force against an enemy country, and rely on each other for
aid if necessary. It is believed that this would have been a more effective process for stopping Hitler
because it uses force in times where he was repeatedly violating the Treaty of Versailles, his ideas
were growing and getting more ambitious, and he was invading and taking land from other countries.
To start off, the reason collective security may have been the better route is because Hitler was
constantly ignoring the Treaty of Versailles, whose purpose was to weaken Germany. When other
countries saw Hitler s disobedience, they did nothing to enforce the treaty and let him continue to do

Appeasing Hitler would give him exactly what he wanted and only make his ego bigger, similar to
Napoleon. Moreover, Czechoslovakia was ceded just to avoid conflict. Of course, the people of Czech
were unhappy that their country got given away, especially since Czech defenses were very strong and
they were prepared to fight for their land (Keenan). Therefore, Czechoslovakia was given up for no
reason. To add on, the more territory Hitler took, the more soldiers he could enslave to do

The Historical Period Of Chinese Art Essay
The 20th century is a historical period for Chinese art history. It is the time period where China was
ruled by Mao Zedong (1942 1976) and Propaganda Art was introduced.
Propaganda art is not just a fine art. It is an information transmission art that contains clear meaning,
and the most popular political vehicle for propaganda in the 20th century of China. Propaganda art
must have considerable artistic appeal to mobilize image, color, composition, form and other factors to
form a strong visual effect. Its screen often has a strong visual center, unique artistic style and design
characteristic. However, during that time, the public did not have awareness of collecting art work.
Thus, little Propaganda art still exists today even though many of the propaganda posters were
reprinted over and over, and pasted in various streets during that time. Propaganda art played an
important role in the spiritual and cultural life of the Chinese people. As propaganda art has a special
social status during the Revolutionary War and Socialist Construction period of China, it has attracted
many successful artists to engage in the creation of posters. This resulted in different forms of
propaganda art being produced. As a result, propaganda art had become an indispensable form of
Chinese artistic creation in the 20th century.
From the artistic point of view, there are numerous different types of propaganda art during the
different time periods. The main forms of propaganda art are woodcuts,

Creation Vs. Evolution Debate
The vivid story of the creation account found in Genesis 1 and 2 often gets lost in the question of how
rather than the question of why. Desmond Alexander points out that the creation story often hijacked
by those who are almost exclusively preoccupied by the modern debate on the relationship between
the biblical view of creation and that of contemporary science (Alexander 119). Gary Schnittjer helps
by adding, Problems occur when readers use the scriptures to answer their own questions questions
that the biblical text was not designed to answer (Schnittjer 1048). The creation story is not as much a
detailed explanation of how the world was created, but rather a theological description of God s

I have come to realize this debate only leads to endless and meaningless conversations that miss the
point. Even more, after this week s readings, my eyes have been opened even wider to the wonder of
the creation account. What stands out most vividly is God spoke the world into existence. The power
of his voice and the obedience of the cosmos are incredible. Yet even more amazing is that God did
not speak man into existence, rather he formed him with his hands and then breathed life into him. I
knew that is what happened, but I had never picked up on the delicate and closeness of God creating
humanity. Also, it should be noted that man is the only thing that did not obey what God spoke to him,
which led to the Fall. All in all, Genesis 1 and 2 set the stage for all of Genesis by describing God s
relationship with humanity and his desire to dwell among them, which will one day be complete again

Sadomasochism Essay
Sadomasochism Sadomasochism is a sexually deviant behavior that is practiced by many people
within today s society. It is the combination of two paraphilias, sadism and masochism, which are
usually always linked together. An occasional mild or light form of sadomasochism (or S M for short),
is considerably common among the general population. Many people often enjoy being mildly
dominant or submissive during lovemaking. They believe that it makes the experience more
enjoyable. But when S M becomes the dominating feature of a person s sexuality, that is when he or
she is considered deviant. Unlike other paraphilias, sadomasochism includes a large population of
women as well as men. They are nearly equally balanced in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hypoxyphilia is a fairly common practice where a person chooses to enhance their sexual arousal by
voluntarily depriving himself or herself of oxygen. In order to become deprived of oxygen, people
usually use plastic bags, rope, or their partner s hands to choke their partner once consent is given.
This practice is dangerous and can possibly even result in a tragic death (Rathus, Nevid, Fichner
Rathus, p545 546). Masochism s counterpart, sadism, is the complete opposite for many reasons.
Sadism is a parphilia, which is characterized by the association of sexual satisfaction with the
infliction of pain or humiliation onto others. The term sadism refers to a French author and
philosopher, Marquis de Sade (1740 1814). Marquis de Sade wrote stories of people who became
sexually aroused by inflicting pain or humiliation on others. Some of his best known works are Justine
(published in 1791) and Juliette (published in 1797). A sadist receives sexual gratification by role
playing. They usually play the authority figure who inflicts pain, humiliates, disciplines, and plays
master to another person (Ernulf Innala, p637). Most sadists hurt and humiliate willing partners who
are usually masochists. A small minority of sadists may even attempt to stalk and attack their
unwilling victims. This is a very dangerous and harmful to its participants. In fact, Sigmund Freud
wrote extensively on sadism. In his research, he recognized its existence in the individual and

Descriptive Essay On Animal Abuse
An Animal Extravaganza s Galore
Animals are the beginning of the best nerve wrecking filled love you could ever dream of for your
entire existence. Ever since I was a young child, I ve always resonated with the everlasting idea of
helping animals more so than anyone and anything else in this world. My love for animals had begun
when I was a mere two years old. I ve always had pets: dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, and much
more. I remember the joy I d felt when my parents brought my dogs and I to the park. To find out
more information about how to help adoptable animals in shelters, I contacted Amanda Smasal, a
community outreach coordinator at Wayside Waifs. Wayside Waifs is no kill shelter located in Kansas
City, Missouri which has adoptable dogs and cats, ready and willing to go to safe, loving homes.
When I first emailed Smasal asking if she would participate in the interview, I felt overwhelming fear
and began to panic about the whole encounter. The fear of having to ask someone I had never met to
talk with me is something that scares me. Nonetheless, I sent the email asking politely yet efficiently
to see if she would give me a few of her precious minutes to answer questions about a cause worth
fighting for: animal rescue hospitals. She quickly responded to my quaint email approximately a day
later stating she would happily answer any and all questions I have, significant or insignificant. The
questions took a couple days to figure out. The few days I had to create

Relational Database System ( Rdbms ) Essay
A relational database is a group of data which classified into a set of tables that can be accessed in
several ways without having to reconstruct the tables oftenly.Relational Database was proposed by
Edgar Codd around the time 1969 since then it has become very prevalent for commercial
applications. In the 20th century there were countless Relational Database System (RDBMS) ,take for
instance: IBM.DB2 and Oracle. Glossary The following are the main terms and concepts related to the
named model: 1. Attributes they describe the facts, details or characteristics of an entity. The attributes
that maybe contained in an invoice might be name, number and paid/unpaid. 2. Table this is where
data is stored for processing and output .The table is defined as a collection of correlating data
consisting of rows and columns. For example, the CUSTOMER or PURCHASES table may entail the
customer first name, last name, address and the product that the customer purchased or wishes to
purchase. 3. Field this is a column in a table that is constructed to save and maintain particular
information about records that are stored in the table. They can include name, age and salary fields. 4.
Record commonly called a record, usually referred to as a slot or space that resides in a table, it is

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Short Sale
Short sale Short sale is a sale of securities in which investors does not own the securities, they simply
borrow the securities, usually from the broker in expectation that the securities price will decline and
allow them to make profit by buy back the securities at a lower price. Short selling often used by
investors to either hedge or speculate and can be classified as speculative activity. The benefit of short
sale is that it allows investors to add value to their portfolio even when there s a bear market since it
can be difficult to make profit in a bear market without short sale and if investors use short sale to
hedge, they can minimize their portfolio risk. The downfall of short sale is that the loss can be

Pronoun and Connection Languages (Bandwagon) Bandwagon is perceived by Media Literacy Project
(2013) as one of the basic persuasion techniques due to its easy recognition, as well as frequent
application. During an analysis many instances of this technique have been identified both in the
manner of specific pronoun language and connection language. Bandwagon implies to broader
audience ( everyone, [or at least] cool people ) i.e. users of a service or buyers of a merchandised
product, and urging other receivers of an advertisement to jump on the bandwagon (ibid.).
Analytically, pronoun language may be the linguistic tool that enhances the bandwagon technique.
Through I self commitment, You/we group creation and He/she/they out grouping the speaker
commits his view, shows his care of the listener, offers a solution to a problem and creates a bond with
him (Changing Minds, 2002 2013). Moreover, so called connection language (use of with/without,
this/that and us/them) which aims at attaching and pushing away derives benefits from associative
way of thinking, thus join identities of people making them a part of themselves, and so forgive,
approve, and agree with [themselves] (ibid.). When talking about second person pronoun you in
English advertisements, its presence has been observed in almost each of analysed ones contrary to the

Character Analysis On Everybody Loves Raymond
Everybody loves Raymond is a show that was first released during the year of 1996 and ran all the
way to 2005. The show is centered around Ray Barone, a talented sports writer who constantly has to
put up with his wife, brother, kids, and even parents. Raymond is generally very sarcastic, no matter
what the situation, and he does just about everything in his power to not have to deal with his kids.
Instead he leaves most of the responsibilities of child care and cleaning to his wife, Debra. Although
Everybody Loves Raymond manages to pull off being a wonderful show, it still plays into the
stereotypical behavior of Gender roles, which ultimately prevents society from making any real
progress.
At the beginning of episode 1, Pilot it is revealed that the sole provider of the house hold is Raymond,
while Debra is revealed to be a stay at home mother. This feeds into the belief that men are always the
primary bread winners of a household, not women. From the moment Raymond walks into his house
he goes from a successful sports writer to an an absentminded father who only cares about eating,
having sex, and not knowing the first thing about kids, let alone taking care of them. Debra has the
opposite problem, she is primarily seen with the kids all the time. It is very rare to ever have her on
screen and not have the kids with her. This feeds into the stereotype that not only are women expected
to be stay at home mothers, but that it should be expected because men are not as good

Benefits Of Running Convection Allowing Models ( Cams )...
1. Introduction
The benefits of running convection allowing models (CAMs) for convective storm prediction have
been demonstrated in a variety of contexts over the past decade (e.g., Done et al. 2004; Kain et al.
2006; Lean et al. 2008; Kain et al. 2008; Clark et al. 2009; Coniglio et al. 2010; Schwartz et al. 2009;
Sobash et al. 2011; Clark et al. 2010, Clark et al. 2011; Weisman et al. 2013). As these studies show,
much of the value of running CAM forecasts comes from their ability to provide explicit information
about convective properties such as initiation, mode, motion, longevity, and intensity. To effectively
use CAM output in operational forecasting settings, novel forms of guidance are needed to summarize
these forecast attributes in ways that can be easily understood by forecasters and other end users.
Toward this end, Sobash et al. (2011), hereafter S11, documented a proof of concept for producing a
next day (12 UTC to 12 UTC) severe convective weather guidance product using output from
deterministic CAM forecasts initialized at 00 UTC. In S11, locations where intense simulated
convective storms occurred were identified using updraft helicity (UH; Kain et al. 2008), a diagnostic
designed to detect mid level mesocyclones in CAM output. A threshold was applied to the UH field to
identify severe simulated convection and produce a field of surrogate severe weather reports, which
were then spatially smoothed to create a surrogate severe probabilistic forecast

The Chronic Disease Burden Has Increased The Need For A...
The chronic disease burden has increased the need for a statewide and national approach in its
detection, prevention, and treatment of heart failure. In the state of Indiana heart disease is shown to
be leading the way with a total of 13,394 individuals who have died in 2013 (Indiana State, 2013). The
health indicators show that although the mortality rate has decreased from 42.3 per 100,000 in 2001 to
37.3 per 100,000 hospitalization rates have increased (Center for Disease, 2011). Heart failure
rehospitalization rate has increased from 2007 2011 especially in those who are over the age of 85. In
2011, there were a total of 41.9 per 1,000 hospitalizations due to heart failure. This is gradually

The cardiac muscle cells can be affected by heart disease through the inability to maintain its
homeostasis through the calcium pump. If there is excess calcium within the heart it results in the in
ability of the heart muscle to relax. As a result, the ADP/ATP ratio increases, phosphocreatine
decreases, and energy stores are depleted. Furthermore, this imbalance affects the energy needed to
relax the left ventricle. Secondly, diastolic heart failure can occur from changes in preload, afterload,
renin angiotension aldosterone system, and the sympathetic nervous system. These changes affect the
fibrillar collagen within the extracellular matrix that affects the ability of the ventricular to relax.
These changes along with those compensatory mechanisms results in continuous resistance that results
in increased in left ventricular end diastolic pressure (McCance Huether, 2010). Systolic heart failure
results from the inability of the cardiac muscle to contract effectively from inadequate cardiac output.
As the cardiac output drops, compensatory mechanisms to try to restore its function through takes
place by ventricular remodeling. During this remodeling phase, the heart begins to develop changes in
its size and becomes hypertrophic that results in a decreased ability of the heart to contract, decreased
available oxygen, and available ATP. Secondly, this hypertrophic states increases preload that results

Subjectivism Definition Essay
Infallibility Simple subjectivism has a problem that brings about infallibility. They make moral
statements infallible, in only talking about our own attitudes. However, we are not infallible about our
moral claims in life, but we do make mistakes in our lives as well. Subjectivism claims to say that the
truth of the moral judgements is reliant on the subjective state of mind of a particular person brings
about that any given person is infallible in their moral judgment. It just seems that, as long as a
straightforward person reports one s subjective state of mind, that person is in fact, making a moral
judgment, which cannot be fabricated. (Sophilos 2012).

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Breaking A Lock
Long ago when I was a kid I always wondered what people kept in things that they locked, I always
imagined it would be something valuable, but I couldn t ever find out because they were locked. Well
as I grew older I decided I should put all my valuables in a safe place and lock it, the only problem is
that I had lost the key and I couldn t just break the lock. This is how I made my decision to learn how
to pick locks.
Most popular locks people use today are pin tumbler locks and are very easy to open using a pick and
a wrench. The pin tumbler is commonly used in cylinder locks. In this type of lock, an outer casing
has a cylindrical hole in which the plug is housed. To open the lock, the plug must rotate inside the
hole.

You should be able to push them up and feel them spring back down when you release the pressure.
Try to push each one all the way up. Identify which one is the hardest to push up. If they re all very
easy to push up, turn the tension wrench more to increase the torque. If one won t go up at all, ease the
torque until you can push it up. Alternatively, you may wish to rake the pins before this step. I
occasionally use a tool that has a barely perceptible diamond on the tip, I then rake the lock a couple
of times to hopefully lift any high pins. remember that the maximum distance you will be moving a
pin is rarely more than 1/16 and may as little as .10 . Also, remember to adjust the tension if your pick
is bending and not manipulating, as you are usually binding the pins too much. Above all, remember
to keep track of where the shank of the tool is as well as the tip of the tool, since lifting adjacent pin
stacks with the shank accidentally is very common. Try to keep the shank parallel to the wards in the
lock, and well away from other pin stacks. Another common habit is compensating for the increased
bind by using the lifter like a pry bar, moving the operator end of the tool up and down, and levering
the pin with the tip, this is wrong, and will surely lift adjacent pin stacks. Always move the tool up and
down in a parallel motion keeping it perpendicular to the lock

The Hobbit Analysis
In the novel, The Hobbit, the author J.R.R. Tolkien, suggests when an individual pushes themselves to
explore risk taking, they take the opportunity to grow within themselves, and test the extent of their
newfound values, which result in the character fostering a stronger sense of self identity.
Accepting the opportunity to experience risk allows the individual to push themselves, despite the
possibility of danger towards oneself. In the Hobbit, the character Bilbo demonstrates risk taking most
clearly when he attempts to steal a troll s wallet after the dwarves ordered him to investigate a strange
light coming from within the forest (pg. 35). Bilbo concludes that he must prove himself to the
dwarves. To show his capability as a burglar, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

risk taking when sparing Gollum, despite the unpredictable consequences that result from his

Bilbo is chosen to survey inside the Lonely Mountain, Smaug s citadel (pg. 198 201). Bilbo
understands that he must uphold his position as a burglar, and be the first to enter the Lonely

How pH Level Affects Corrosion Rate
The purpose of this project was to discover how the pH level affects corrosion rate. The hypothesis
was if the pH level affects the corrosion rate, then the lower the pH level is quicker the corrosion rate
would be. This will happen because liquids below the pH level of 7 possess stronger acidic attributes.
The effect of pH level on corrosion rate was determined by depositing a copper penny in each of three
plastic cups, and then three different liquids by their pH levels, were assigned to be displaced into
each cup formulating a chemical reaction to be observed. The results collected during this
investigation contradicted with the intended result, this experiment was conducted to determine

Corrosion and oxidation both are destructive and are a threat to certain elements; metal. Corrosion is
the attack on an element triggered by a reaction with the environment. It occurs when oxygen and
water infiltrate a metal and a brand new layer forms. Corrosion can cause hazards, buildings can be
shut down, due to their metal foundation unable to withstand itself after the effects of corrosion; torn
down and disembodied fragments. Oxidation occurs only in metal, frequently in iron, due to its
molecular structure prone to be torn down by oxidation. Corrosion as stated above occurs when an
element like iron, combines with water and oxygen. When these elements and compounds integrate,
rust takes an appearance; reddish brown forms on the surface of the element. Just like corrosion,
oxidation can cause hazards. Since iron is majorly distributed into many architectural projects, and the
factor that oxidation can occur unexpectedly, protection must be prioritized. Corrosion can be
prevented by restraining metal from coming in contact with water. Coating exposed metal with water
proof paint can be a low effort maneuver to prevent oxidation destruction. Locating the symptoms of
oxidation is crucial for maintaining it in state you have the potential to keep under sovereignty.
Substituting vulnerable metals to material that can withstand oxidation is noncompulsory. Pay
attention to the environmental aspects, is it warm or cold, is it humid?

The Pantheon in Rome and the Candi Prambanan in Indonesia
Around the world people have been known to dedicate themselves and their families to a certain type
of religion or God. Practicing religion has been a major part of peoples daily rituals for centuries.
Believing in a higher power than ones own takes full dedication to that certain religion or God(s). In
order to give respect and be able to apply action into these beliefs it has became a tradition around the
world to build a place of worship. These places of worship are referred to differently across the world
depending on location and the religion being practiced. More specifically the Temple is a building that
is devoted for worshiping but also is known to house a multitude of religions depending on its
location. For example, the Romans have been known to house their Gods in Temples usually with a
multitude of columns to incase a statue of a God or Gods. Similarly, the people of Indonesia have been
building decorative Candi (Indonesian word for Temple) to praise and worship their Gods.4 For
instance, the Romans constructed The Pantheon, dedicated to the Gods of Ancient Rome compared to
Candi Prambanan built by the Indonesians in order to worship the concept of Trimurti. 3 The link
between these two cultures can be seen in the way that both Romans and Indonesians worship their
Gods in Temples with the use of separate sacred rooms and what these Temples represent for their
culture, but are able to be separated by their choice of architectural form, style and use of

How did Flappers change the view of women in the 1920 s Before flappers came along women were
very modest. They were brought up to be lady like and did not even date men unless their parents

not show the curves of the female body. Their dress was a boxy shape that hung straight from the
shoulders and fell in an unbroken line just below the knees. This type of dress looked best on flat

Mew Woman of the world. Women were no longer constrained by corsets and long skirts, nor by the
discomfort and time it took to dress oneself in such styles. Their dresses had a loose cut and shirt

allowed them more room to dance up closely to men and change the thoughts on women. (Makela)

International Monetary Fund And The World Bank
THE WORLD BANK AND IMF HIPC
International Monetary Fund and The World Bank, though has a good purpose of their existence, they
have come under lots of criticisms as to how they use the leverage of being in a position of helping
poor countries to either recover from economic collapse or give them debt relief and economic boost
from loans they give out to them to impose policies and condition that those poor countries has to
implement. These loan conditions and policies structured by these international financial power
institutions are geared towards moving resources from the poor countries to the rich western countries.
The end result is creating a situation where the poor countries sunk into more economic suicidal
condition in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to rebuild Europe after a devastation second world war, common sense would tell you that the
institutions would not like to deplete its resources. So the question of exploiting loan seekers or poor
countries who later became part of the countries seeking financial help from the world bank and the

The main function of the International Monetary Fund according to IMF fact sheet (2016, March 23)

international payments that enables countries (and their citizens) to transact with each other . Simply
put, the organization beginning with 44 countries and now 189, has one aim, to make sure there is a
global or international stability in the world economy by monitoring resources and exchange rates
across goods and services trading among member countries and ensuring that there would not be an
economic collapse in respective member countries. Same IMF factsheet do more elaborating on their

Socialism Vs Communism
In 1848 Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote The Communist Manifesto , and even had it published.
Their main goal in writing this book was to completely get rid of capitalism. Karl Marx did not
believe in social classes. He believed that everyone should live equal lives and personal ownership
should not be allowed. According to Marx, everything should belong to the community, or working
class. Communism is a more complex and advanced version of socialism. Although both economic
systems believe in putting the most important means of production in the hands of the people, whether
its directly or through the government, they differ from each other in many ways. While in a
communist society ownership is ascribed to the state or community, a socialist ... Show more content

There is also an efficient distribution of resources. This is possible because the government owns all
means of production. Even if you graduated from one of the best colleges around, you would still have
the same chance of getting the same job as someone who does not even have a high school education.
Every person is paid the same amount no matter what job they have. Since the government dictates the
economic structure, it remains internally stable.
Individual needs would be put under any needs of the society. The government monitors everything,
especially computers. Privacy almost does not exist. Communism also eliminates any competition,
which is not healthy for any society. People need to be able to make goals higher than what they are
allowed in order to keep motivated and actually take pride in their work. If everyone is paid the same
regardless of what they do, the economy will become lazy and nothing with be of good quality if it
does not matter to begin with. It is not a successful economic system as a whole.
The government benefits mostly from communism, they even own most of the factors of production
and control how things are done. This affects everyone in the economy and their everyday

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are all different stories on the life of Jesus. They all tell the same story
just in different aspects. The reason that they all tell the story in different aspects to show the different
events in Jesus life. One writer might focus on the legend of Jesus and another writer might focus on
the being on Jesus. Some might focus on the beginning stages of the life of Jesus. It s like a book with
chapters written by different authors: but the book s purpose is for reader s to learn about the life of
Jesus, in all aspects. The authors of the different chapters are Matthew, Mark, Luke and John; they all

beloved physician . In the book of Luke he elaborates on the humanity of Jesus Christ, and the order

disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is
Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:30 31). The goal in
the book of John was to make people believe in Jesus, to help them see that Jesus is Christ and the Son

Examples Of Medical Negligence
Medical Negligence
Negligence means the breach of a legal duty to care. In wider sense it means carelessness in a matter
in which law mandates carefulness. Negligence is a predominant theory of liability concerning
allegations of medical malpractice. Medical malpractice occurs when a health care provider deviates
from the recognized standard of care in the treatment of a patient. The standard of care is defined as
what a reasonably prudent medical provider would or would not have done under the same or similar
circumstances. Persons who offer medical advice and treatment implicitly state that they have the skill
to decide whether to take a case, to decide the treatment, and to administer that treatment. This is
know as implied undertaking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Medical mistakes in the diagnosis and treatment of hospital patients are unfortunately among the most
common cases of hospital malpractice seen by malpractice lawyers. Misdiagnosis of the patient s
condition, improperly interpreted diagnostic tests, negligently performed surgeries and medication
errors are all examples of medical negligence and can all have devastating effects on patients already
admitted to a hospital with an illness or injury. This can be considered hospital malpractice.
Understaffing of hospitals and overworking of hospital employees contributes to the dangers of a
hospital visit. Long delays in emergency rooms, as well as waiting for radiology tests and delays in
performing surgery can all permit a patient s condition to worsen. In addition, patients frequently
arrive at the hospital with one type of illness, and sustain an injury or infection in the hospital that they
never had before. Often these patients are in much worse physical condition leaving the hospital than
when they went in. Sometimes patients injured by a hospital in the case of medical negligence require
extensive treatments or multiple surgeries to

Elephants Vs Sparkle Paper
Advertisements share one common goal, that is to draw to people s attention. In order to accomplish
this goal, advertisements contain a headline, visual, and layout. For instance, advertisements such as
Sparkle creatively and thoughtfully uses the tactics above to convince people to purchase Sparkle
paper towels. The first thing that people see in the advertisement of Sparkle Thirst Pockets paper
towels is the headline. The headline is highly visible, because it is printed in bold letters. Besides the
boldness of the letters, people are easily drawn to this advertisement, because the headline asks, What
s the difference between elephants and Sparkle paper towels? An obvious question like this targets a
wide audience and makes it unlikely for people to ignore the advertisement. The response to this
question is, Both can soak up spills, but only one can fit in your kitchen. This response triggers human
and possibly getting people to think about how sturdy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The visuals that appear in the advertisement is an elephant, package of paper towels, and the texture of
the paper towels. The elephant in the advertisement allows viewers to relate the image to the headline.
The elephant s eyes attract viewers and its facial expression evokes a joyful and warm feeling. With its
trunk the elephant is holding a package of paper towels. The motive behind the elephant holding the
paper towels is so readers can compare how an elephants easily eats and drinks using his trunk to how
the paper towels can effectively grab food or soak up spills.******** The background of the
advertisement also serves as a visual. People are able to see how the paper towels look like instead of
imagining them. The backgrounds overall visually communicates what the advertisement is all about,
eliminating any confusion people may have. The images that are portrayed capture people s attention
and stimulate interest, helping to sell the

Thereafter, on January 21, Clifford wrote to the District expressing his concern that Five Star s bid
was so low nearly $300,000 lower than the then current contract that it was questionable whether it
would be able to maintain the drivers wage and benefit levels, and the safe and effective service, then
provided by First Student. Because of this a letter was sent out from the school board to Five Star Bus
Company, saying that all employees must be paid the union wage and other items with no response.
The school board also talked and had them write letters of the former Five Star employees, who were
also trying to get back on board with the bus company if they are awarded the contract. After Five Star
was awarded the bus services contract, seventeen former First Student drivers who were members of
the Union bargaining unit applied for a position at Five Star. Of these, only six were hired. The
company admits that the sole reason the other eleven applicants were not hired or even considered was
because they had written letters critical of Five Star. On August 14, the Union filed a charge against
Five Star with the NLRB alleging that by failing to hire former unionized Belchertown bus drivers, the

Bankruptcy Among Former Professional Athletes
Bankruptcy has become a normality among sports culture. A young athlete signs a multi million dollar
contact, they play the sport they love, they retire (or get cut), then their spending habits catch up to
them and eventually leading to bankruptcy. Over and over this has been the case for hundreds of
former professional athletes. This reoccurring phenomena has become the identity for a plethora of
athletes, like of once great sport icons such as, Mike Tyson and Vince Young. Many people have
forgotten about their accomplishments in their respective sports because they are now all in the
shadow of their money troubles. It seems as if it isn t a matter of if an athlete will go bankrupt, rather,
it is a matter of when they will. But why does this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Canseco says, if you ve got friends and family, the more money you make, the more you spend on
them (Callahan). As soon as these professional athletes become rich, people instantly come out of the
wood work asking for money or a loan. Saying, I will pay you back as soon as I can. Which in most
cases means never. Many athletes turn pro, then before they know it, not only are they supporting their
self for the first time, they begin supporting close friends and family members. The people who care
about them the most take all of the athletes money. More often than not, before these athletes even
realize that they can not efficiently support all these people forever, they are on their way to going
broke. They are spending more than they are saving eventually leading to bankruptcy. Thinking that
they have all the money in the world, many of the invincible feeling athletes just hand out the money
as if it truly does grow on trees. One way that athletes can protect their money is according to Sports
Litigation Alert s article, Professional Athletes Must Surround Themselves with Talented Team off the

What happens when great innovation and corporate responsibility come together? Johnson and
Johnson happens. J J has been a benchmark for both innovation and customer relations their entire
history, which has been a long one. From the original Band Aid, to Tylenol, to the famous Johnson s
Baby Shampoo, J J has created numerous highly successful brands. They control over 275 subsidiaries
in over 60 countries giving them a huge global presence. By examining its history, ethical
investigations, and organizational analysis, I will paint a clear picture for which J J stands.
J J is best summed up by the words in their credo. To be concise, I will summarize the credo instead of
stating it in its entirety. They rank their responsibilities by the importance they place on them. These
responsibilities are as follows: customers first, employees second, the community third, and
stockholders fourth. These aren t pure rankings but rather the order in which they consider the results
of their actions. This approach has been instrumental in creating the customer revered company J J is
today.
J J hasn t always been a powerhouse. Its humble beginnings began in Brunswick, New Jersey in the
year 1886. The founders were the Johnson brothers, Robert, James, and Edward Johnson. Their focus
hasn t changed much from its founding principles. They began by selling first aid kits to railroad
workers and health products to families. In 1888, they came out with the first commercial First Aid

Truth And Lying In A Non Moral Sense Essay
Construction and human made structures are frequently featured throughout a number of texts related
to dreams. This commonly used theme of structure is more of a sense of reality. This theme prevails
itself in both Angela Carters The Infernal Desire Machines of Doctor Hoffman and the reading Alice s
Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. This theme also illustrates itself in Nietzsche s reading
On Truth and Lying in an Amoral Sense which discusses the cathedral of concepts and societal
structure as a whole. These constructive and human made structures that have regressed in the
readings throughout the semester symbolize a sense of reality and society as a web. In both dream
texts and in fiction texts this reoccurring theme of societal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nietzsche believes that we all posses a creative, world building urge, but only a select few have the
ability and power to realize their dreams. Not only does Nietzsche maintain a strong belief in how
humans identify between the truth and a lie but he also argues that we categorize concepts in our brain
to find the truth. In On Truth and Lying in a Non Moral Sense Nietzsche describes the hierarchical like
society by admiring the world as a structure. Here one can certainly admire humanity as a mighty
architectural genius who succeeds in erecting the infinitely complicated cathedral of concepts on
moving foundations, or even, one might say, on flowing water; admittedly, in order to rest on such
foundations, it has to be like a thing constructed from cobwebs, so delicate that it can be carried off on
the waves and yet so firm as not to be blown apart by the wind (Nietzsche). This sense of societal
structure Nietzsche believes in is the Cathedral Of Concepts . Nietzsche believes in a world of human
ideas in a hierarchal way. Our ideas and the concepts behind them can interact within systems of
power and form a structure . We adapt to what we see and abstractions adjust from

  • 2. Self Actualization In Hamlet According to Maslow s hierarchy of needs, basic necessities, such as food, water, and shelter must be obtained before beginning the process of self actualization. Self actualization is a hard concept to explain, especially if one has not experienced it. Throughout his life, the intelligent reader must distinguish what self actualization is, as well as how to actively engage in it. This involves asking oneself questions, such as Who am I? or Why am I here? , and not responding with a rehearsed interview answer that everyone has prepared at some point in their life. The process of self actualization involves thinking about what happens, if anything, after death. Is there an afterlife, or are we simply put on earth for 60, 70, 80 years, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning of the story, Meursault is unnerved by his mother s death and quickly moves along in his life. In fact, Meursault seems unemotional during most of the book. The existentialist part of Meursault finds it difficult to know what love is. For example, when Marie asks if Meursault loves her, he replies that [love] didn t mean anything but that [he] didn t [think] so (Camus 35). This lends itself to the question of what love actually is. Is love spending time with people you care about, or is it a myth that society has taught us to believe in? Meursault would argue the latter as his relationships with both his mother and Marie don t involve much emotion. Another instance in which Meursault exhibits existentialist behavior is when he shoots the Arab on the beach. What drives Meursault to shoot is not the Arab drawing his knife, but rather the intense sun and the sweat running down his face. During the days after the shooting, Monsieur Meursault doesn t understand why he needs an attorney. It is easy for him to understand; he commits a murder, and he is ready to face the consequences for his actions. There s a lot of meaning hidden in the novel s title. Part of the existentialist attitude is the idea of alienation, and Meursault is essentially a stranger to the world around him. He never truly has a solid relationship, whether it be with his family, his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Contribution Of The Treaty Of Versailles On January 10, 1920, a peace document known as The Treaty of Versailles, signed by Germany and the Allied Nations on June 28, 1919, took force. This agreement was the most powerful of the peace treaties, bringing an end to World War I. Despite the peace it brought to the Allied Nations, it brought nothing but devastations to all aspects of Germany. Due to its harsh and humiliating terms, twenty years after its authentication, the treaty would trigger a second world war. Created as a document of peace, The Treaty of Versailles would antithetically prompt WWII by promoting the infamous dictator Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party to power. Under the Treaty of Versailles, all German overseas colonies became League of Nation Mandates. Germany was also forced to accept complete responsibility for initiating World War I, making them responsible for paying all war damage. In addition, the German army was limited to 100,000 men, the air force was banned from having combat aircraft, the navy lost nearly all of its surface ships and submarines, and tanks were forbidden. These barbarous terms were set with the goal of preventing another war by crippling Germany, but Germans viewed this as unfair, bringing nothing other than indignant reactions. The Treaty of Versailles played a major role in bringing a Great Depression upon Germany. German capital that would have been used to advance industry would rather be drained by payments to the Allied Nations. In order to pay off WWI debt as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay on Sports Specialization Sports Specialization Sports are a popular pastime among all ages and types of people. People not only participate in them for fun, but also for money, physical fitness, rush of competition, and for many other personal reasons. Playing sports is especially common among young people in schools. Athletics are great and enjoyable for many reasons, but there can be a point where sports participation can go too far and become negative for children and adults. Sports specialization for young people is an increasing trend that results in sports having a negative impact on individuals and society. Sports specialization among young people is when a child or teenager trains for and competes in only one sport. They work extremely hard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that young people now have the opportunity to get into professional sports at a younger age now encourages this trend. If a young person is very successful at a sport, the media will rave on about them and the publicity will only force them to work harder. Freddy Adu, a thirteen year old soccer sensation, is getting large amounts of publicity for his remarkable skills (Goodall, 2003). He has been featured in Sports Illustrated where he was referred to as the prodigy of American soccer (Wahl, 2003). Newsweek has also included articles about this remarkable soccer player, calling him a preteen phenom (Starr, 2004). ESPN Soccernet also reported information about his amazing skills (Goodall, 2003). The publicity of Adu is making this young athlete a star and keeping other young athletes focused on similar opportunities for themselves. All of the publicity that is attained by success, and the possibility of this success, places a great deal of pressure and stress on these young single sport athletes. This stress and pressure takes the fun out of some sports. Youth sports are becoming serious and based more on winning than on having a great time and learning good sportsmanship. Adu points out the winning mindset of athletes in this day and age when he says, Teams will do anything to win the game. My coach told me to expect that going in and that is exactly how it was. . .I felt like everybody was out to get me (Goodall, 2003). This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Reflection Paper On Reading Skills From working with Joe for the past few weeks, I noticed there were a few different reading skills that he could use some practice with. One of the first things I noticed while working with Joe was his fluency while reading. During the running records I had done with Joe, I was able to listen to his reading pace, and noticed that he only took pauses when he needed to take a breath. I also noticed that he used no expression while reading; not even when there was quotation marks present. Another reading skill that Joe lacked was good use of a decoding strategy. When Joe was presented with a word he didn t know, he would use picture cues, but when that didn t work, or when illustrations were minimal, Joe would simply skip over the word. When I asked Joe what he liked to do when he came across a word he didn t know he said, I don t know . I got a similar answer when I asked him if he knew what his teacher, and friends did when they came across a word they didn t know. This observation showed me that Joe could really benefit from having a decoding strategy presented to him in a minilesson. On the first day of co teaching; my partner and I focused on teaching a decoding strategy, so we could practice that strategy if needed while doing a fluency exercise the next time we met. Taberski mentions how working with words, and decoding strategy will help students move from hesitancy to fluency (pg 87). • 10. Child’s Play is Serious Business Essay For young children, there is no distinction between play and learning; they are one and the same. Playing is a priority in early childhood, yet not all play is the same (Butler, 2008, p. 1). Since the beginning of mankind children have imitated adults and learned to survive through play. Evidence of this includes toys and board games from 6,000 years ago that have been found in Egypt and Asia (Dollinger, 2000). In the last two centuries, child s play has been observed and studied by theorists and recognized as an important tool for adult life. Three theorists that studied children and spent their lives researching how children develop were Erik Erikson, Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky. These theorists agreed that from the time a child is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A young child is like a tree, when given nourishment and a safe environment to grow in, they will become strong physically and mentally. Positively rewarded toddlers have more initiative to learn and tend to contribute more to society than their negatively rewarded counterparts. Children, who are neglected or ridiculed for their efforts, will experience their inner spirit and fire being extinguished. They also tend to have slower mental capabilities with little or no initiative. Negatively reinforced children are less willing to want to learn and thrive; they experience embarrassment, shame and guilt for their discoveries. Erickson believed that children of this age also are learning important tasks through repetition. Young toddlers may repeat tasks dozens of times. The same toddlers are able to easily repeat the task days or weeks after the initial learning. Erikson theorized that children should be allowed to explore and learn on their own at their own pace. Too much influence and forcing young children to learn may weaken curiosity and lessen excitement of learning. This stage can be summarized by saying that a preschooler with initiative expresses who they are, whereas a preschooler with guilt does not (Nursing Resource Admin, 2010, p. 2). • 11. Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier Essay On March 4, 1921, an unknown soldier from World War I was buried with the approval of Congress in the plaza of the Memorial Amphitheatre at Arlington National Cemetery. This serviceman was chosen randomly out of four other servicemen from four individual gravesites located in France. Not only was this soldier honored as a valiant trooper, but unknown soldiers from World War II and the Korean War were honored and remembered at this site too. The soldier located in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was buried with a white marble sarcophagus on top of the grave that has engravings of both Greek figures and words that say an American soldier known but to God. The importance of this mausoleum is that it honors those who were unidentified soldiers, and shows that our country will honor our armed forces and respect them, whether they are known or unknown. One of the Unknowns buried at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was the Unknown from World War II. The trooper was chosen from two caskets, where one casket had the remains of a soldier that was eliminated in Europe, and the other casket had the remains of a soldier that was eliminated in the Pacific. Medal of Honor recipient Hospital Corpsman First Class William R. Charette had the honor of choosing the remains to be sent to Arlington National Cemetery. Since a thousand years equals a millennium this term we will be used interchangeably from this point forward. The millennium in Revelation 20 is only used in reference to the reign of Jesus Christ after Satan the devil has been imprisoned. The conclusion of the millennium will be the second coming of Jesus Christ and the defeat of the Devil. The view that the church needs to continue spread the gospel and should except Christ to return at any time is correct. As for the world continuing to improve it would seem to this author that the world is currently going in the wrong direction. Gay and lesbian marriage has been legalized, abortion has been legalized, and President Obama has said that we are not a Christian country. The Olivet Discourse (Matt 24; MK 13; LK 21) does not lead one to see peace on earth before the return of Christ. It actually teaches the opposite. How can we have the millennial reign of Christ and have false messiahs and prophets, wars, famines, pestilence, persecution, and earthquakes? In these times guards that worked for the lords of kingdoms were assigned the job of collecting taxes. Though the first real law enforcement as we see it today goes back to the colonial age in both England and newly found America. Colonial America followed the the British form of a police organization. This idea was a sheriff appointed by the governor of a colony, enforced laws, collected taxes and maintained public property throughout the colony. The amount law enforcement has evolved over the years has made it more capable and able to deal with the problems of this new age much different than that of the revolutionary time period. Law enforcement has evolved because as time went on technologies came along which criminals had access to and crimes got more creative and complex. For example a rather new crime with modern society and new technologies brought on is cyberbullying. As the time went on and the law enforcement system evolved and crimes got more serious and in depth and technologies advanced for both criminals and police. This is why another important thing changed in law enforcement, the equipment that they carry. The first law enforcements system in the United States in the pre revolutionary and revolutionary times was the night watch which was similar to the modern day neighborhood watch. They didn t wear uniforms or carry guns they mostly just watched out for suspicious activity and made people aware of anything that went wrong. • 17. Advantages Of Appeasement What would have happened if Hitler was stopped before WWII? What if the Allied forces stopped Germany before it climaxed? Historians wonder if Adolf Hitler could have been controlled better in a more effective way or if appeasement was the right choice. However, evidence shows that another method called collective security may have been the better option. Collective security was when nations joined together to create a stronger force against an enemy country, and rely on each other for aid if necessary. It is believed that this would have been a more effective process for stopping Hitler because it uses force in times where he was repeatedly violating the Treaty of Versailles, his ideas were growing and getting more ambitious, and he was invading and taking land from other countries. To start off, the reason collective security may have been the better route is because Hitler was constantly ignoring the Treaty of Versailles, whose purpose was to weaken Germany. • 18. The Historical Period Of Chinese Art Essay The 20th century is a historical period for Chinese art history. It is the time period where China was ruled by Mao Zedong (1942 1976) and Propaganda Art was introduced. Propaganda art is not just a fine art. It is an information transmission art that contains clear meaning, and the most popular political vehicle for propaganda in the 20th century of China. Propaganda art must have considerable artistic appeal to mobilize image, color, composition, form and other factors to form a strong visual effect. Its screen often has a strong visual center, unique artistic style and design characteristic. However, during that time, the public did not have awareness of collecting art work. Thus, little Propaganda art still exists today even though many of the propaganda posters were reprinted over and over, and pasted in various streets during that time. Propaganda art played an important role in the spiritual and cultural life of the Chinese people. As propaganda art has a special social status during the Revolutionary War and Socialist Construction period of China, it has attracted many successful artists to engage in the creation of posters. This resulted in different forms of propaganda art being produced. As a result, propaganda art had become an indispensable form of Chinese artistic creation in the 20th century. Desmond Alexander points out that the creation story often hijacked by those who are almost exclusively preoccupied by the modern debate on the relationship between the biblical view of creation and that of contemporary science (Alexander 119). Gary Schnittjer helps by adding, Problems occur when readers use the scriptures to answer their own questions questions that the biblical text was not designed to answer (Schnittjer 1048). The creation story is not as much a detailed explanation of how the world was created, but rather a theological description of God s purpose and relationship in creating humanity (Schnittjer 816). Also, it should be noted that man is the only thing that did not obey what God spoke to him, which led to the Fall. It is the combination of two paraphilias, sadism and masochism, which are usually always linked together. An occasional mild or light form of sadomasochism (or S M for short), is considerably common among the general population. Many people often enjoy being mildly dominant or submissive during lovemaking. They believe that it makes the experience more enjoyable. Hypoxyphilia is a fairly common practice where a person chooses to enhance their sexual arousal by voluntarily depriving himself or herself of oxygen. In order to become deprived of oxygen, people usually use plastic bags, rope, or their partner s hands to choke their partner once consent is given. This practice is dangerous and can possibly even result in a tragic death (Rathus, Nevid, Fichner Rathus, p545 546). Masochism s counterpart, sadism, is the complete opposite for many reasons. Sadism is a parphilia, which is characterized by the association of sexual satisfaction with the infliction of pain or humiliation onto others. The term sadism refers to a French author and philosopher, Marquis de Sade (1740 1814). Marquis de Sade wrote stories of people who became sexually aroused by inflicting pain or humiliation on others. Some of his best known works are Justine (published in 1791) and Juliette (published in 1797). A sadist receives sexual gratification by role playing. They usually play the authority figure who inflicts pain, humiliates, disciplines, and plays master to another person (Ernulf Innala, p637). Most sadists hurt and humiliate willing partners who are usually masochists. A small minority of sadists may even attempt to stalk and attack their unwilling victims. This is a very dangerous and harmful to its participants. In fact, Sigmund Freud wrote extensively on sadism. In his research, he recognized its existence in the individual and ... • 28. Character Analysis On Everybody Loves Raymond Everybody loves Raymond is a show that was first released during the year of 1996 and ran all the way to 2005. The show is centered around Ray Barone, a talented sports writer who constantly has to put up with his wife, brother, kids, and even parents. Raymond is generally very sarcastic, no matter what the situation, and he does just about everything in his power to not have to deal with his kids. Instead he leaves most of the responsibilities of child care and cleaning to his wife, Debra. Although Everybody Loves Raymond manages to pull off being a wonderful show, it still plays into the stereotypical behavior of Gender roles, which ultimately prevents society from making any real progress. At the beginning of episode 1, Pilot it is revealed that the sole provider of the house hold is Raymond, while Debra is revealed to be a stay at home mother. This feeds into the belief that men are always the primary bread winners of a household, not women. From the moment Raymond walks into his house he goes from a successful sports writer to an an absentminded father who only cares about eating, having sex, and not knowing the first thing about kids, let alone taking care of them. Debra has the opposite problem, she is primarily seen with the kids all the time. It is very rare to ever have her on screen and not have the kids with her. This feeds into the stereotype that not only are women expected to be stay at home mothers, but that it should be expected because men are not as good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Benefits Of Running Convection Allowing Models ( Cams )... 1. Introduction The benefits of running convection allowing models (CAMs) for convective storm prediction have been demonstrated in a variety of contexts over the past decade (e.g., Done et al. 2004; Kain et al. 2006; Lean et al. 2008; Kain et al. 2008; Clark et al. 2009; Coniglio et al. 2010; Schwartz et al. 2009; Sobash et al. 2011; Clark et al. 2010, Clark et al. 2011; Weisman et al. 2013). As these studies show, much of the value of running CAM forecasts comes from their ability to provide explicit information about convective properties such as initiation, mode, motion, longevity, and intensity. To effectively use CAM output in operational forecasting settings, novel forms of guidance are needed to summarize these forecast attributes in ways that can be easily understood by forecasters and other end users. Toward this end, Sobash et al. (2011), hereafter S11, documented a proof of concept for producing a next day (12 UTC to 12 UTC) severe convective weather guidance product using output from deterministic CAM forecasts initialized at 00 UTC. In S11, locations where intense simulated convective storms occurred were identified using updraft helicity (UH; Kain et al. 2008), a diagnostic designed to detect mid level mesocyclones in CAM output. A threshold was applied to the UH field to identify severe simulated convection and produce a field of surrogate severe weather reports, which were then spatially smoothed to create a surrogate severe probabilistic forecast ... The cardiac muscle cells can be affected by heart disease through the inability to maintain its homeostasis through the calcium pump. If there is excess calcium within the heart it results in the in ability of the heart muscle to relax. As a result, the ADP/ATP ratio increases, phosphocreatine decreases, and energy stores are depleted. Furthermore, this imbalance affects the energy needed to relax the left ventricle. Secondly, diastolic heart failure can occur from changes in preload, afterload, renin angiotension aldosterone system, and the sympathetic nervous system. These changes affect the fibrillar collagen within the extracellular matrix that affects the ability of the ventricular to relax. These changes along with those compensatory mechanisms results in continuous resistance that results in increased in left ventricular end diastolic pressure (McCance Huether, 2010). Systolic heart failure results from the inability of the cardiac muscle to contract effectively from inadequate cardiac output. As the cardiac output drops, compensatory mechanisms to try to restore its function through takes place by ventricular remodeling. During this remodeling phase, the heart begins to develop changes in its size and becomes hypertrophic that results in a decreased ability of the heart to contract, decreased available oxygen, and available ATP. Try to keep the shank parallel to the wards in the lock, and well away from other pin stacks. Another common habit is compensating for the increased bind by using the lifter like a pry bar, moving the operator end of the tool up and down, and levering the pin with the tip, this is wrong, and will surely lift adjacent pin stacks. Accepting the opportunity to experience risk allows the individual to push themselves, despite the possibility of danger towards oneself. The hypothesis was if the pH level affects the corrosion rate, then the lower the pH level is quicker the corrosion rate would be. This will happen because liquids below the pH level of 7 possess stronger acidic attributes. The effect of pH level on corrosion rate was determined by depositing a copper penny in each of three plastic cups, and then three different liquids by their pH levels, were assigned to be displaced into each cup formulating a chemical reaction to be observed. The results collected during this investigation contradicted with the intended result, this experiment was conducted to determine corrosion rate; Dana Puti Vingear (pH level: 4.5) ... Corrosion is the attack on an element triggered by a reaction with the environment. It occurs when oxygen and water infiltrate a metal and a brand new layer forms. Corrosion can cause hazards, buildings can be shut down, due to their metal foundation unable to withstand itself after the effects of corrosion; torn down and disembodied fragments. Oxidation occurs only in metal, frequently in iron, due to its molecular structure prone to be torn down by oxidation. Corrosion as stated above occurs when an element like iron, combines with water and oxygen. When these elements and compounds integrate, rust takes an appearance; reddish brown forms on the surface of the element. Just like corrosion, oxidation can cause hazards. Since iron is majorly distributed into many architectural projects, and the factor that oxidation can occur unexpectedly, protection must be prioritized. Corrosion can be prevented by restraining metal from coming in contact with water. Coating exposed metal with water proof paint can be a low effort maneuver to prevent oxidation destruction. Locating the symptoms of oxidation is crucial for maintaining it in state you have the potential to keep under sovereignty.
