A Separate Peace Literary Analysis
History is said to repeat itself after great amounts of time, but could two major world events that
happened just a mere three years from each other be so similar? A Separate Peace, by John
Knowles, chronicles the story of two teenage boys, Finny and Gene, at a private school in New
England during World WarII. Their entire school life is centered around preparing for the war, but
rebellious Finny has other ideas for himself and Gene. Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck
involves two migrant workers during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression who are facing the
struggles of dealing with Lennie s disability. These two books may not seem similar in plot, but
thematically they share several aspects. In both novels, it can be seen that tragic events cause
certain characters to seek a safe place and satisfaction. For instance, Finny, from A Separate Peace,
can be observed looking for a safe place and satisfaction. There are two tragic events that lead to
Finny exemplifying a need of satisfaction from an outside source. The first of which would be
World War II as a whole; and, more specifically within the microcosm that is... Show more content

Finny from A Separae Peace is coping with breaking his leg and finding satisfaction in sports,
along with Gene who is caught up in Finny s medical crises and copes by focusing on school.
Then there is George from Of Mice and Men that is angered by all of the problems that come
with being a migrant worker during the Dust Bowl, but he always has a plan for his safe place,
which is either a thicket or his own farm. He is partners with Lennie who is also stressed over
everything in his life so he lets it out by touching objects to get distracted in the sensation of their
textures. These novels may be centered around completely different historical events, but the depth
and value to both stories are equally

Stress Lab Report Psychology
I. Introduction In this experiment we are going to describe stress and prove how can a
prolonged exposition to it have a negative impact on memory. The definition of stress used in
this experiment is: difficulty one suffers that causes worry, emotional tension or loss of
concentration. The reason why this topic has been chosen is because stress is a part of
nowadays, hectic society and it has a very noticeable effect on people s performance, in either
work or daily life. The outcome of this experiment could be used in several fields, such as
education; to help reduce the amount of stress students deal with, so their grades could be
improved. The results could also be used to enhance and boost employer s... Show more content on

Another room would be needed in order to perform the relax therapy sessions that would be
useful for the experiment, so all types of equipment related to yoga is needed, such as mats,
light weights, etc. The other type of material that is used is questionnaires on stress participants
may have before performing any activity, a list of words for participants to memorize, and a set
of speakers, which will be the actual source of stress. V. Procedures * Gather participants in a
room and have them do a stress questionnaire to see what is their current level of stress. * With
the results of such questionnaires split participants up into two groups, one including the more
stressed people, and the other group the remaining people, participants should remain deceived
until the end of the experiment.* Have participants from both groups take yoga classes (or any
similar activity with the same purpose) so their level of stress is reduced and partially equal to
one another. These sessions should not last for longer than 30 minutes. * This being done, have a
brief group interview with them to see whether the relaxing activity was helpful and useful, if so,
carry on to next step; if not, record the participants name in order to use this variables as a benefit
when evaluating the results. * Make participants memorize a list of 10 words without any external

This paper provides details about the Vermont Teddy Bear
, Inc. s history, mission and goals; its
business situation, and its efforts to achieve profitability and a sustainable competitive advantage
(SCA) during the period from 1993 to 1998. Also included are discussions, conclusions, and
recommendations about the strategic overhaul imposed by its current CEO, Elisabeth Robert.
In 1981, John Sortino, who was inspired by his infant son to produce a teddy bear made in the
United States, founded the Vermont Teddy Bear Company
. Limited production of his creations
started in 1982 using five home sewers; a year later Sortino began selling the bears on the streets
of Burlington, VT. In the early years he opened a retail store in
Burlington and sold the bears through department stores such as Macy s. Bear Grams were

Terrorism In Guantanamo Bay
In Guantanamo Bay, Cuba is located a detention facility, or prison, operated and controlled by the
U.S. military. Placed in this prison are many different people that could harm the citizens of the
United States such as terrorists and other wicked people. The government of the United States has
fought over whether to close down the prison, and bring the inmates onto American soil or to
keep the prison open with them over in Guantanamo Bay. The government should not close down
the prison because it will put citizens in the U.S. in more danger than before. Many people say
that keeping Guantanamo open is fueling other countries to go against America and not have the
U.S. as an ally, but wouldn t it really be a weak point for America to bow down... Show more

Trump would be making a good decision if he did this because it s a message to a lot of different
countries telling them that America does not mess with terrorism and never will. After seeing that
the country no longer messes with terrorists then there will be a major decrease in terrorism
against the U.S. Records show that financially it costs around $5.56 million per detainee
annually at Guantanamo. Guantanamo is a detention facility, made for terrorists and other cruel
people that came into the U.S., if the facility is not used then the cost of each prisoner goes up,
although, if more prisoners are put into the facility then the cost will go down for each detainee.
Filling the facility up with more prisoners will make it so that the subject of costing too much
will be voided. The facility is falling apart due to lack of inmates because many of them have
been transferred, and if it is refilled then it will prosper more than ever. Guantanamo is keeping
Americans safe from terrorists and wicked people the government needs to keep it that way. Let
Donald J. Trump lead the way on the path to a great America again by keeping Guantanamo open
and filling it up with bad

Analysis Of Dave Barry s Anecdote A Couple Of Really Nice...
Do you hate littering? Don t you hate when you go to a nice beach and you see trash all over?
Dave Barry s anecdote A Couple Of Really Nice Guys is a high level of comedy that uses a
personal issue and exaggerates it to reveal universal truth about littering. The author uses comic
characters/caricatures and hyperboles. First, the author used a lot of hyperboles. For example,
on page 326, I HATE littering. I hate it when you go to a park or the beach and the day is
suddenly destroyed by the arrival of The Picnic People from Hell. This situation was exaggerated
with humor to express the narrator s hatred for littering. Another example of a hyperbole is on
page 325, They just WALK AWAY from what looks like the scene of a tragic dumpster explosion.
This quote is expressing the how big of a mess they left.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, on page 326, Captain Tidy is a concept I have fantasized about for many years. He
is a masked avenger for the forces of neatness. When a person litters, Captain Tidy comes
swooping out of nowhere and explains to the litterer, in polite terms, that he or she is being a
jerk. Captain Tidy is a caricature in this passage. He is a character that the narrator made up so
he could have some fun but also tell people to pick up their trash. The narrator and his friend
would dress up in their costumes and go out in public to stop people from littering. The reason
why Captain Tidy is considered a caricature is because he is a made up character. Another example
of a caricature is on page 326, But if I knew that if Captain Tidy had a SIDEKICK, a LARGE
sidekick, a large, TRAINED OPTOMETRIST sidekick, that would be a whole different story.
And thus Jeff and I became Captain Tidy and Neatness Man. The other caricature in this passage
is Neatness Man. Just like Captain Tidy, Neatness Man is not real. He is also a made up character
to try to get people to stop

Special Needs For Special Education
Over the past years, the total number of students with special needs in the United States has
grown from 1990 through 2005. Studies from the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
(IDEA) show that there are 4.8 million children enrolled in public schools who received special
education between the ages of 3 21. The studies show that in 1990 the percent of children
receiving special education in the school was 11 percent, while in 2005 the amount of students
receiving special education grew to 14 percent. Actual studies by the IDEA during 2012 and
2013 reported that 6.4 million of the students enrolled in public schools are obtaining special
education. We can see that students with special needs are rapidly increasing and at the same
time we can notice that special education teachers are becoming scarce. Taking in consideration
all the aforementioned, I decided to interview a youth specialist education professor. I wanted to
know what truly inspired him to change his major and become a Special Education educator.
Malcolm J. Warren who was a political science major who got into education on a whim. He
started as a substitute teacher then as a paraprofessional and then was hired as a teacher. He has
been working with special education students for about four years. He graduated from the
Valdosta State University and he is currently working in a middle school in Georgia. He loves his

The Gulf Oil Spill
The Gulf oil spill, dated nearly six years ago, still haunts the waters today from what several
scientists have claimed the article Deepwater Horizon: One Year On. In this article, the writer
discusses how the scientists researching the spill have concluded thousands of species are
becoming endangered from the Gulf of Mexicoto the shores located around the gulf area. The
article explains the cleaning of the spill had not made as much of an impact as they hoped for
several years ago. The aforementioned scientists reported that the vast majority of the oil was not
pulled from the water, and much of it has either: sunk to the bottom of the ocean, burned at the top,
or made its way to shore. That being said, they also report that the shore,

Racial Diversity In The Media

Media is reporting these stories, yet there is no one living afterward to confirm the story.
Luckily, due to technology you may not get it from your local broadcast. If you wait someone
will post videos and the victim or wrong doer may get justice. Evidence of media stereotyping
has happened recently. Louisiana had another flood and the people went into panic mode. Two
media sources reported people wading through water from a grocery store. An African American
couple they labeled as stealing. The same day a Caucasian couple doing the same thing labeled
as finding food to survive. Certainly, if it were not for social media and further research many
may have missed both sides. This is why it is imperative for people to think outside of their box
and explore the whole of social media. The picture above is proof that the media skews the
information according to their audience. Both of these articles were written on the same day in
the same city. The media appears to shed a negative light on African Americans in the media. A
story that comes to mind was a Caucasian couple who resided in the suburbs and had average
jobs. The media describes them so eloquently as a family who just made a wrong decision. The
article described them as In their hometown of Trinity, Alabama, MaryAnn and Wesley Landers
were seen as doting parents of two girls, a couple with a very strong faith (www.whnt.com).

McBride s View of Market Research
Market research is defined as the gathering of information about a market s size and trends
(QuickMBA, 2010). For McBride, the point of conducting market research is to identify good
markets to pursue that the bank is not already pursuing. This research should also help McBride to
determine how these markets compare to the market it already has. The company may find through
the course of this research that its current target market is the best one to target going forward, a
strategy that implies further penetration of the existing market as opposed to opening up new
markets.
McBride should therefore conduct market research using the available demographic information
from the US Census Bureau, and information from its own customer bases. Ideally, the company
would be able to formulate customer profiles of competitors, but this information may be difficult
to obtain. McBride should aim to create a demographic and psychographic profile of its current
customer base, and the same for other potential customer bases. Differences between McBride s
existing customers and the general population of the area in which McBride operates can highlight
some potential markets, in terms of demographics, income levels, education, banking behavior and
other key variables. The more variables that McBride studies the better, bearing in mind the cost of
acquiring additional information.
The choice of media used in the implementation of McBride s marketing plan should be guided by
the results of

Analysis Of Eliezer Wiesel s Night
Eliezer Wiesel is a Nobel Prize winning writer, teacher and activist known for the novel Night, in
which he recounts his experiences surviving the Holocaust. After he was freed from Buchenwald
in 1945, Wiesel went on to study at the Sorbonne in France from 1948 1951 and took up
journalism, writing for the French and the Israeli publications. His friend, Francois Mauriac
encouraged him to write about his experiences in the camps; Wiesel then published in Yiddish the
memoir And the World Would Remain Silent in 1956. The book was shortened and published in
France as La Nuit, and as Night for English readers in 1960. The memoir became an acclaimed
bestseller, translated up to 30 languages, and is considered an influential work on the terrors of the
Holocaust. Night was later followed by two novels, Dawn (1961) and Day (1962), to form a
trilogy that looked closely at humankind s destructive treatment of one another. Teaching was
one of Wiesel s passion, having been appointed in the mid 1970s as Boston University s Andrew
W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities. He also taught Judaic studies at the City University of
New York, and served as a visiting scholar at Yale. Wiesel went on to write dozens of books,
including Town of Luck (1962), The Gates of the Forest (1966), and such nonfiction works as
Souls on Fire: Portraits and Legends of Hasidic Masters (1982) and the memoir All Rivers Run to

The Treasure Of Lemon Brown Analysis
One day I was walking down fifth street and I saw a man pull something out of the trash and he

First Opium War Research Paper
Good morning class and Mrs Bennett. The Hypothesis for this topic is that the First Opium War
caused problems in society because the criminal rate increased, as well as the local consumption of
the drug. This presentation will be discussing mainly what opium is, what the first opium war was,
and why it started. The Opium War was a battle in Chinathat occurred during the mid 19th century.
This war was between western countries, such as Britain, and the Qing Dynasty, which ruled China
between 1644 and 1911.
The First Opium War was conducted from 1839 to 1842, and was between China and Britain. The
reasoning for the war occurring was caused by China s attempts to withhold the Opium trade. It was
over diplomatic relations, trade, and the administration of foreign nationals in China. Opium was
illegally being imported into China, through India, by the British. They grew the opium on their
plantations in India. At first, the British were addicted to stimulating Chinese tea. Trade imbalance
occurred due to the Chinese buying few European products and demanding Gold or Silver in return.
The reverse flow of Silver and the increasing number of opium addicts alarmed Chinese officials,
and resulted in over 20,000 chests of opium to be confiscated. As opium was being imported into
china, it caused unrest in society, the local consumption to increase, and the decrease in the price of
the drug. Being a stimulant drug, Opium spread throughout the country, badly affecting its nation....

The Rise And Fall Of Bernie Ebbers
Introduction
One of America s famous corporate leaders rose to prominence like a whirlwind and, then years
after the euphoria, he fell from grace. Bernard Ebbers, a Mississippian native, became the face of
America s corporate world just for a short time. Then, his glory ended only to face allegations of
fraud, abuse, and other corporate malpractices. The rise and fall of Bernie Ebbers shocked the
business world for he lived, then, in modesty, supported education and contributed to his
community. Ebbers community called him responsible business leader (Trevino Brown, p. 90) and
author George Gilder described him as one of the most fascinating, improbable, and inspiring in
North American business (p. 90).

Q3. Identify some theoretical linkages between Ebbers s leadership style as practiced and the
behavior that occurred within WorldCom.
Answer: Ebbers self inflicted, self centered, transactional leadership style paved the way for the
firm s demise. He loaned subordinates to ensure compliance, loyalty, and cooperation. A
transformational leader leads subordinates to achieve goals for all. The main issue is trust, a trait
that is higher in transformational than in transactional leadership (Principles of Management, 2015).
Ebbers decided otherwise. He surrounded himself with a select group of people and kept others in
the dark on decision making.
Q4. The law firm report identified Ebbers as the source of a culture that resulted in the company s
accounting fraud. How did Ebbers s leadership style contribute to the values and actions of key
managers? How could key managers perform their jobs effectively and ethically in the WorldCom
culture?
Answer: Ebbers promoted a culture of patronage and a disdain for openness and contrary opinion.
He had a select group that made all the decisions. He rewarded them by personally

Love Is Love By Cartoon Arts International Essay
Love is Love? In a close five to four Supreme Court ruling vote on June 26th, 2015, same sex
couples gained the right to marry in all fifty states (Kenneth, Gay Rights ). As this news spread,
some were displeased, some were overjoyed, and some were somewhere in the middle. The wide
range of views on this topic made it easy to be turned into a satire. A comic by Cartoon Arts
International shows a man complaining to his wife that same sex marriageis hurting heterosexual
marriage, in which the wife retaliates and makes a comment about divorcing him because of his
stated opinion (Kurtzman). It is ironic that the woman talks about destroying their heterosexual
marriage because she didn t like what her husband said, and the husband claims that heterosexual
marriages are being hurt because of homosexual marriage. The reasoning behind the comic is to
persuade the reader to agree with the point of view it representsp, or to believe that homosexual
marriage has no effect on heterosexual marriages, and to do so in a comedic way to lighten the
tension of the multitude of views on the topic of gay marriage. Although this satire and many
others are mainly made to persuade an audience to one binary viewpoint of an issue, there are
many other viewpoints outside of the two binaries. Before the legalization of marriage equality
was established, the Defense of Marriage Act (DoMA), had been reigning since 1996, when
President Bill Clinton signed it into a law after it was passed through

The Protest Of The Francisco 49ers Quarterback Colin...
When you think of protests what do you think of? Most of the protests that people see on
television are a group of people marching in the streets. These protests can either be peaceful or
harmful. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a different approach. His protest
was not in the streets, it was on the football field. He kneels during the national anthem before
games. Everyone has their own thoughts on his protest, some agree, some do not agree with his
protest. Colin Kaepernick s form of protest is a very ineffective way of protest while disrespecting
the people that represent and angering many. On August 14th, 2016 was the first time San

Also, not standing for the national anthem is a legal form of peaceful protest, which is a First
Amendment right. And even though President Obama disagreed with Kaepernick s actions he
did say that Colin was exercising his constitutional right to make a statement. I think there s a
long history of sports figures doing so (ProCon.org) Refusing to stand for the national anthem is
disrespecting the flag and every member of the armed forces. Celebrities and others have all
chimed in and gave their opinion on Colin s protest. One person to chime in and has a lot
patriotism in her family history is Carole Ishlam, she is one of the great great great
granddaughters of Francis Scott Key, the writer of the national anthem. It just blows my mind that
somebody like Kaepernick would do what he does to dishonor the flag of this country and the
national anthem Ishlam said in an interview. She continued, we have young men and women
overseas fighting for this country, people that have died for this country (ProCon.org) Even
supporters of Kaepernick s message disagree with his actions. One of these supporters is New
Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who said, It s an oxymoron that you re sitting down,
disrespecting that flag that has given you the freedom to speak out (ProCon.org) Not only did
celebrities talk about it, people who are fighting in the war and are representing the flag have put

Five Stages of Grief
Grief is an emotion that we have which is very complex and often misunderstood. Unfortunately,
grief is something that we all will experience in our lives at one time or another. We will all
experience loss in our lives. The stages of grief are the same whether it be through the death of a
loved one, divorce, or some other loss. There are five stages of grief. It is said that if we get stuck in
one of the stages, the process of grieving is not complete, and cannot be complete. This means that a
person will not complete the entire healingprocess when there is a loss in their life. A person must
go through all five stages of grief to be well again, and to fully heal. Not everyone goes through the
stages at the same time. It is different for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These plans are now gone after a loss. We feel an incredible lack of control, and we may even
feel numb. Perhaps feelings of suicide may overcome an individual. I obviously feel that family
and friends need to be with the person that has experienced a loss, but in this stage more than
any of the other stages family and friends must be close. There have been many cases where
someone has experienced a loss, and then that person ends up taking their own life. This is the
most tragic thing that I can think of. Now we have two horrible losses to deal with, and I sure
don t think that this helps anyone in any way. Depression is normal throughout a loss, but not
when it is taken to the level of suicide. I think that if enough family and friends are always
available to help the person most dealing with the loss then this sort of thing can be avoided. The
fifth and final stage of grief is acceptance. It must be noted that there is a difference between
resignation and acceptance. A person must accept the loss, not just try to bear it quietly. There
must be realization that the person is gone when they die. People must realize that it is not their
fault, and that their loved one did not leave them on purpose. It is said that even in cases of suicide
often the deceased person was not in their right frame of mind. Acceptance must also occur when
going through a divorce. There must be realization that it takes two to

Dbq Treaty Of Versailles
Many factors contribute to a group of people failing to accomplish a goal, but the stubbornness of
participants often is a leading cause. The Senate s failure to ratify the Treaty of Versailles in 1919
shows this idea, due to the feud between President Woodrow Wilson and the Internationalists, and
Henry Cabot Lodge and the Reservationists. The Internationalists fully supported the passing of the
Treaty of Versailles, whereas the Reservationists believed it was necessary to change the Treaty,
specifically Article Ten. Similarly, Borah and the Irreconcilables believed that the League of Nations
was in conflict with one of the ideals the nation was founded on; to not engage in foreign
entanglements. As Senator William Borah, put it, the League... Show more content on

The Republicans resisted the Treaty because they believed that if it were to be ratified, Wilson s
prestige would soar and he might even be re elected for a third time (Bailey, 184). Thus, the
Republican Party was against the Treaty of Versailles in its original form out of fear. Wilson
fully believed that the Treaty was going to bring world peace, and regardless of this belief, the
Republican Party voted against it because of who came up with it. Wilson fought greatly for it
and said that if the Treaty failed that he would gather all the soldiers who fought in World War
One and tell them I told you before you went across the seas that this was a war against wars and
I did my best to fulfill the promise, but I am obliged to come to you in mortifications and shame
and say I have not been able to fulfill the promise, (Wilson). Wilson was willing to take blame for
the hypothetical failure of the Treaty of Versailles and the Republicans still voted against it
because they did not want Wilson s popularity to go up. Wilson believed so strongly in Article
Ten that he believed that the League of Nations would justify the United States honor and bring
peace to the world (Wilson). The belief that the Republican Party did not ratify the Treaty
because they did not want to risk another Wilson presidency is absurd. This idea perpetuates the
idea that if one person, in a position of power, strongly believes in something, then it must good.
One can apply this idea to how strongly Wilson believed in the Treaty of Versailles, yet it was not
enough to convince the Senate that the League of Nations Collective Security Covenant was a
good idea. It was not the Republican Party s fear of a third term of Wilson that caused the death of
the Treaty, but Wilson himself. The belief that if

The Prophetic Intuition Of Pope John Paul II And The...
Fr R. Cantalamessa pointed out, The prophetic intuition of Pope Paul VI had a determining role in
this (recognition of the CCR by the Church). In that, on Pentecost of 1975 at a meeting with its
leaders, he defined the Charismatic Renewal as a chance for the Church. Cardinal L.J. Suenens, a
protagonist of CCR, recognized it as a current of grace and convinced Pope Paul VIof the need for
the Church to accept and encourage the Renewal in order that it should not grow in isolation. In
the summer of 1975, some 10,000 Catholic charismatics gathered in the Catacombs of St.
Callistus in Rome for the Second International Congress. A special Mass was celebrated with
singing in tongues and prophecies at the Papal Altar in St. Peter s Basilica, Rome followed by the
historic special audience with Pope Paul VI.
The Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) is much indebted to Saint Pope John Paul II for its
growth and acceptance in the Church through the unfailing support it received throughout his
Pontificate. At a special audience on 7 May 1981 to the participants of the Fourth International
Leaders Conference in Rome, Saint John Paul II said that he made his own the words of St Paul, I
give thanks to God every time I think of you (Phil 1:3).

Elizabeth Bishop Research Paper
Elizabeth Bishop is a remarkable poet; she contributed to the Postmodern era experiment of the
20th century when poets played with nontraditional forms and intricate verse. She wrote exactly
101 poems exploring diverse topics such as death and alcoholism. Bishop rose to prominence after
she published her first collection of poetry, North and South, and published her first novel along
with eighteen new poems in Poems: North and South A Cold Spring, nine years later. Critics
through the ages praise Bishop for her detailed imagery, and her influence in the postmodern poetry
is noteworthy to this day.
Elizabeth Bishop had a fractured childhood. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts February
11, 1911. Within eight months of her birth, her father, William Thomas Bishop, died due to
inflammation of the kidneys. The trauma of his death led to Elizabeth Bishop s mother, Gertrude
May Blumer, mental insanity and eventual admission to a mental asylum. Although these events
occurred very early on in her life, Bishop managed to create accurate descriptions of these
experiences in her poems. However, it is difficult to determine the exact moment when the full
weight of these early losses began to influence her writings since only a few poems ... Show more

Essay Justice
Justice
Every action or decision we make is either justifiable or unjustifiable.
Justice is usually decided by society or the quot;norm. quot; The quot;norm quot; changes from one
society to another. However, there are always laws that can be broken, consequences that must
follow, and punishment that must be imparted. Justice can be seen in two different ways, social and
criminal. Justice is in the eye of the beholder because we all have different attitudes about right and
wrong.
Criminal justice is a term that refers to the area of social laws which a group of people deem
valuable in order for the day to day mechanics of society to function. When these laws are broken,

No matter what verdict would have been handed down, someone, somewhere would have been
unsatisfied. If Shively were sentenced to be executed, then his family and friends would have had
to fight for justice until the day he died. As the verdict of quot;not guilty quot; arrived,
Paterson s family, many police officers, and friends of the family cried for justice. Yet, justice had
been served.
Equal and satisfying justice has always been a problem. On May 30, 1939 a group of Texas
Rangers decided to ambush and murder two people they wanted to destroy. They shot seventy
five bullets into a man named Clyde and fifty four deadly bullets into a young lady named
Bonnie. Of course, this is the famous story of the outlaw couple, Bonnie and Clyde. This action
branched across the guaranteed right to due process. Another incident of the criminal justice s
injustices occurred when the ATF decided to arrest David Koresh and his followers. We know
how this story ends. The ATF was the reason that many people died and was probably the cause of
the Oklahoma City bombing.
A more recent incident is one that was taped by a helicopter. A group of illegal Mexican
immigrants were trying to get to the land of freedom and justice for all. After arriving they were
hunted down by the border patrol in
California. After the border patrol caught them they beat them up. This group of Mexicans were

Today in the athletic community, young and old, everybody is trying to trump their competitors by
getting the edge over them wether its running faster, jumping higher, lifting more weight, or just
simply performing better overall. However some of these athletes are after the same end goal but
they are taking a different path to get there. Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) are becoming
more and more common among younger athletes these days. There has been much talk with
doctors, coaches and parents about the controversy and misconceptions about these drugs and how
more athletes are taking these performance enhancing drugs and how they can have many side
affects, positive and negative. The goal of this paper is to state that the negative side affects out

Personal Culture And World View
It is a big undertaking to attempt to explain one s culture and world view in a few words. My
culture and world view began within the house I was raised. I come from a white, middle class
family, with a household of 5. My mom and dad both worked very hard to maintain a middle
class living status for their family, and made many sacrifice. Values that were stressed in my
household were loyalty, work ethic, family bonds, and character. Religion did not play a big part
in my household growing up, and lack of religion, or self reliance was stressed more. Both of my
parents worked, however gender roles were pretty obvious in my house. My mother not only
worked, but also took care of many of the household chores, while my father handled lawn work,
mechanical tasks, etc. The biggest world view that sticks out for me that I learned growing up
is that if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything. However, you have to work for it
there are no hand outs. In writing this, I can think back to many times where racial, or racist,
statements were made in my house. It can be hard to talk about, and I cannot provide justification
for many of the comments. Our home was about 10 blocks from public housing. I can recall
driving past, and many times, my dad pointing out the fact that those people didn t have to work
for anything. He would often say, look, we are paying for their houses with our tax money, and
they drive better cars and wear better clothes then we do. This had a

Border Exchange In The 1950s
Let s put a title here! The 1950s, for those who were not white men, were a time of deep
oppression and are not looked back on fondly. However, John Benson argues that in regards to
borders, the 1950s was something of a golden age. Those years were defined by nearly uninhibited
border crossing, cooperation between Mexicoand the United States, and the celebration of cross
cultural relations. Now, in 2017, the borderis heavily militarized and border crossing is demonized.
The 1970s marked a shift in border controlpolicies, and since then cross border relations have
become more and more strained. Cadava, in Standing on Common Ground: The Making of a

There is talk within the current administration concerning the necessity for the United States to
build the wall to separate ourselves from Mexico yet Donald Trump is not the first one to have
suggested this. Cattle had been part of the cross border exchange for an extended period of time,
but in the 1950s an outbreak of foot and mouth disease temporarily halted the cattle trade. A
border fence was proposed, so the possibility that the disease would spread could be contained.
However, unlike today, both Mexicans and Americans alike called the proposed fence a repulsive
symbol of division that they would not stand for. This fence would be an impediment to the flow of
people who constantly travelled between Mexico and the United States. This was exemplified
through the department store, JГЎcome s, which actively promoted cross border exchange. Situated
in the heart of Tucson, JГЎcome s was a gathering point for people living on both sides of the
border as it was inviting to both Mexicans and those living in the United States. The name of
JГЎcome s store appealed to both groups of people. JГЎcome kept the accent over the a in the
name, which causes the name to be distinctly Spanish. Meanwhile, the apostrophe makes the name
distinctly English, since the apostrophe is not used in the Spanish language. White clients from the
United States were intrigued by JГЎcome s, because it was an exotic, regionally authentic
department store, while Mexican shoppers were drawn to JГЎcome s since it was the store that
welcomed them the most. Additionally, JГЎcome s accepted pesos as payment, rather than
requiring shoppers to exchange their pesos for US dollars before shopping. This allowed for
Mexican shoppers to feel more welcomed and at home while shopping at JГЎcome s, which further

Cheating Is A Hot Topic
Cheating
Introduction
Cheating is a hot topic these days. There is much pressure on a student or child to perform well
in class. Not only does the pressure build academically, but physically on the sports field. As
parents, are we encouraging this behavior because we want our student to do well and achieve
the end goal of being recognized or to receive a scholarship? I see it happening and depending on
who the child/parent is, I might say something, because the end result could result horribly. I can
remember a time, and I am dating myself here, back in high school, I remember it distinctly. I was
a sophomore at Portage Northern High School. I was sitting in Mr. Sterner s Spanish class and
we are about to take a test. Let me advice, Spanish was not a fun class, especially when it is not
as interactive as the classes our children are attending today. Our teachers/professors have
learned a few things since the 80 s. However, I am preparing for a test and yes, I cheated. I
purposely wrote answers on the top of my note book where it just shows indentations of the
words I needed. Did I get caught?, YES! Mr. Sterner pulled me aside after class and directly
asked if I did. I wasn t going to lie, but flat out told him that I did not feel confident or prepared
for this exam. I knew others were cheating, but I was one that got caught and remorse did set in. I
was probably more fearful of my parents finding out than anything else. Yikes! Looking back, I

Chrysler in Trouble
Executive Summary
The automobile market is one of the most lucrative markets in the world. They have focused on
international expansion since the late 1900s. This market has very successful international
companies such as Mercedes Benz, Lexis, Hyundai, Chrysler, Camry, Fiat, etc. All of these firms
have held a position in the automobile industry. Even in economic hardships when demand for
automobiles was decreased, the market did not faze them. Two firms prominent in this industry are
Chrysler and Fiat which have both held successful positions in the late 1900s. Due to decreased
market demand and lackluster products both firms have drastically diminished their market appeal.

The employment level first dipped below one million in 2007 and fell to 880,000 workers last year.
With the restructuring and bankruptcy of Chrysler and General Motors, and the ongoing recession
in the auto sector, employment in the nation s automotive manufacturing industry will most likely
shrink in 2009 and 2010 as additional assembly, powertrain, and auto parts plants close.
Economically the automobile industry is an oligopoly. This is why the Big 3 remains the Big 3.
The nature of building cars makes it difficult for small players to enter the market. The cost of
entry is high. As an oligopoly, the Big 3 also tend to pay more attention to one another than to
customers or competitors. If GM adds airbags, Chrysler and Ford add airbags. Being the smallest,
Chrysler tends to follow rather than lead. Ideas generated outside the Big 3 tend to be ignored.
When times are good, automakers can sell anything they can produce. That includes bad cars. But
during recessions, automakers lose billions of dollars just maintaining operations. This is basically
due to the high fixed costs. And those costs are getting higher as tight union contracts make labor a
fixed cost.
The industry consists of six segments: three mature markets (North America, Japan and Western
Europe) and three emerging markets (Asia Pacific, Eastern

The Mathematical Concept of Infinity
The implications of infinity (co) are actualiy not that old. The Greeks were some of the first
mathematicians recorded to have imagined the concept of infinity. However, they did not actuaily
delve into the entirety of this number. The Greeks used the term potentially infinite, for the concept
of an actual limitless value was beyond their comprehension. The actual term infinitywas defined by
Georg Cantor, a renowned German mathematician, in the late nineteenth century. It was originally
used in his Set Theory, which is a very important theory to the mathematical world. The value of
infinity can get a bit confusing, as there are different types of infinity. Many claim that infinity is
not a number. This is true, but it does have a value. So, infinity may be used in mathematical
equations as the greatest possible value. i The value of infinity Infinity (00) is the greatest

other forms of itself. Here is one example: to the set of ait Naturai numbers Z43, 2, 3, 4,...}, there

Analysis Of Angels In America Perestroika By Tony Kushner
In the play, Angels in America: Perestroika, by Tony Kushner, sexual imagery is heavily detailed
and openly expressed on multiple occasions. Kushner has a unique style of not holding back when
it comes to the expression of sexuality, especially with the development of the mostly gay cast.
Why does Kushner feel the need to introduce such explicit and sexually provocative imagery into
the play? One potential reason is that outwardly expressing gay sexuality destigmatizes the gay
experience in America. The more exposed people are to such outward displays of sexuality, the less
stigma would be associated with homosexuality. There are two occasions in act 1 where Kushner
heavily expresses sexual imagery. The first, and more provocative instance

How Would Utopus Create A Dystopian Society
Utopia is a previously inhabited piece of land conquered by King Utopus. Before Utopus seized
the land of Utopia, it was not an island. Utopia was connected to the rest of the continent. However,
Utopus arranged for his soldiers and the native settlers of the land to excavate a fifteen mile ditch.
The water surrounding the island aids the separation between Utopiaand its neighbors. One side of
the water is very shallow, and on the other side, sharp rocks prevent boats from entering. So, ships
from the rest of the continent cannot navigate these waters without help from experienced
Utopians. Shaped like a crescent, the island stretches 200 feet wide to 500 feet tall. Once the fifteen
mile ditch was dug, Utopians founded fifty four cities, which... Show more content on

First, Utopians do not engage in alliances or treaties, so the water serves as a physical separation
between Utopia and its neighbors so they do not feel pressured to engage in treaties or alliances.
If Utopia does not have a physical separation, they may feel influenced by their neighbors
behavior and engage in treaties and alliances. Second, since the water separates Utopia from the
rest of the continent, Utopians chances of war decrease no one surrounds them. Because the
chances of war decrease, Utopians do not necessarily need allies to defend them. More describes
the Utopian belief saying, For to what purpose serve leagues, say they, as though nature had not set
sufficient love between man and man? (114). They believe that if their common humanity won t
unite together, then promises won t be fulfilled. Also, Utopians do not approve of war. Therefore,
the jagged rocks and shallow water surrounding the island prevent enemies from coming onto their
territory, reducing the chances that Utopia will be attacked. Next, cities in Utopia measure equally,
and a common Utopian belief includes the concept that every citizen is equal. Because the layout
of the city is symmetrical, the layout of Utopia symbolizes the layout of how society works.
Everyone is equal and receives equal shares. Last,

The Shouldr Joint
I am the shoulder joint but some people call me the glenohumoral joint. The shouldr joint is a ball
and socket type joint and is connected to part of the humerus and the scapula at the glenoid cavity.
This is the most mobile joint in the body, but also the most frequently injured. The rotator cuff,
which is a main component of the shoulder jointis often injured so research on how to efficiently
heal that injury is ongoing. The shoulder joint is extremely flexible compared to the rest of the
joints in the body. This flexibility is partly due to the fact that it is a ball and socket joint. By
being a ball and socket joint it means that it is capable of circumduction, angular, and rotational
movement. It allows one s arm to move up, down, to the right, to the left, and in a circle. Because
it has a large range of movement, it is unstable and easily damaged. To make up for this, it has
many ligaments and tendons to keep it in place. In addition, it also has the glenoid labrum which
deepens the shallow glenoid cavity and makes it more stable.... Show more content on

When this happens, it can very painful and even cause small, everyday things to hurt, lowering
the quality of life for someone. In some cases the tear is so severe that it causes pseudo paralysis,
which means that the patient has a very limited range of motion in their shoulder. Some ways to
treat rotator cuff injuries include physical therapy and surgery. There has been a recent study to
find ways to make the rotator cuff heal on its own. Some of these ways to improve tissue
regeneration in the rotator cuff include growth factors, platelet rich plasma (PRP), and stem cell(
Randelli et al. 2014). Another method that helps the rotator cuff is reverse arthroplasty, which relies
on other muscles in the shoulder to keep the placement of the shoulder because the muscles of the
rotator cuff are no longer

The Right And Life Of Abortion
The Right to Life As long as there is life, there is hope reads The Cage by Ruth Minsky Sender.
Abortion is defined in the Merriam Webster dictionary as the deliberate termination of a pregnancy
and is most often preformed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Beginning early on in history,
abortions were viable solutions for immigrants, as their pregnancyrates were higher than the natives
of an area or region. As timed passed, laws on abortionbegan to create a war on the separation of
Church and State. These issues have yet to suppress. The Catholic Church defines abortions as the
direct and purposeful taking of the life of the unborn child according to the Catholic News Agency.
Catholicism suggests that life is sacred from the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How can one agree with killing off these cells in which life is founded upon? Truly, life that is
based upon these group of cells are fully human from the moment of conception to the moment of
death. Only machines such as clocks and cars come into existence part by part. Living beings come
into existence all at once and gradually unfold their world of innate potential. (10 Reasons). In
relation to faith and religion, Catholicism teaches that humans are endowed with the image and
likeness of God from the moment of conception. Abortion disregards the imprinted value of a
human life by undermining its development. Karen Pazol states, Among the 49 areas that provided
data for 2006, a total of 846,181 abortions were reported (Pazol). Almost one million innocent lives
are taken annually because abortion is shrugged of as a solution to unwanted pregnancies. These
actions result in distress for not only the pregnant woman, but also her family. Though she may not
tell anyone, eventually the truth reveals itself through circumstance, guilt, or mistake (Reasons
Abortions). Many people overlook the psychological effects of abortion and how devastating these
choices can be. Christianet claims that abortion can truly tear a family apart when they say, The
abortion mentality destroys the family by making it more difficult for new Americans who survive
beyond the womb to find the family welded together by the indissoluble bond of

Informative Speech On Thanksgiving
Anyone can eat soul food on any particular day of the year. However, it is something distinctive
about preparing and eating soul food on Thanksgiving Day. Soul food is considered to be fried
chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, breaded fried okra and yams. The preparation and
consumption of soul foodhave been a staple in my family s tradition for many generations.
Perchance the food tastes better because of the cool crisp air, or maybe it s the Macy s
Thanksgiving Day parade. I honestly don t know why, but I feel like this should be a paten
scientific theory. Everything just feels right on this day, as if the world halts for a split second and
it is at harmony. Possibly that is why the food is cooked to perfection. Even the process of
preparing the meal is practically better than eating the food.
II. Body
For this food to be touched by the food Gods, we must prep for the feast the day before
Thanksgiving. Before any cooking can begin, my mom starts shouting out commands. Nina go
clean the kitchen, Nae go clean up the bathroom, and Egypt you oversee the living room. Within
two minutes Before I Let Go is blaring through the house, filling every crevice with the sweet
hums of Frankie Beverley and Maze. The aromas of bleach and incense begin to rave around the
house as we finish our tasks at hand. Now that we are finally finished, we can begin to prepare for
the feast.
Before any magic of cooking can take place, we begin by collecting our ingredients. The fridge

Similarities Between Death Of A Salesman And Soucouyant
Memory and Memory loss in Death of a Salesman and Soucouyant
The Death of a Salesman and Soucouyant both broach the topic of memory, in opposite but
complementary ways. Where Death is about falsifying positive memories, and Soucouyant is
about forgetting to forget . Where adeles memories are a trauma, and very much tried to forget,
willies memories are a solace to him, and a way for him to cope with his failures. Both detail an
unchronological slip of a figure into mental illness, and both end in death. Both glorify the
American dream (in the case of soucouyant, the Canadian dream) and the main characters of both
are outliers on this dream, coming close but never seeming to reach it. However, in Adele and

her childhood. This is the seventies, Meera. This is Canada... You have endless opportunities for
wealth and happiness. Always make sure to capitalize. Always make sure to distinguish yourself.

is certain that he will achieve it if he works hard enough. Likewise, Meera is told by her mother
that her new cultural identity is Canadian, and her cultural identity of being black and a woman

The Dolphin Is A Breed Of Dolphin
Maui s dolphin is a breed of dolphin that is slowly heading toward extinction, as they are a very
endangered subspecies (1). On the North West coast of the North Island in New Zealand (between
Dargaville and New Plymouth) lays isolated areas, which is where the Maui dolphin can be found,
normally found in groups of approximately 1 to 5 dolphins within about 5 nautical miles of the
shore. (2). Maui s dolphinis the smallest breed of dolphins; they range in size from approximately
1.2 1.7m and weigh roughly around 50kg (3)(4). Majority of the dolphin is coloured a light grey
(back and sides), whilst having a white brush of colour along the sides of its body. They have an
identifiable dorsal finas it is more rounded compared to most dolphin fins that are sickle shaped
(5)(6). They feed on small fish such as squid, flatfish, and cod, therefore not making too big an
impact on the food chain. Over the recent years Maui dolphins have declined in numbers from
approximately 150 in 2004, down to 55 Maui s Dolphin observed in 2012 (7)(8). According to A
risk assessment of threats to Maui s dolphins the subspecies is in population decline holding a
survival rate of 84% and a population decline rate of 2.8% per year, these statistics were taken
between the years of 2001 and 2011 (9). If threats to the Maui s dolphin remain as they are it has
been indicated that there is a 95.7% chance that the population will decline, therefore leading it to
extinction(10). This can be seen as a

How Is Diction Used In Woman At Point Zero
Money is typically a neutral, necessary item that makes a big impact on one s everyday life. To
make their points, authors often add a certain connotation to the people that use the money, rather
than money itself. Nawal El Saadawi describes a society in which many use money for selfish
reasons, often suppressing other groups, like women, in the process, which represents a negative
attitude toward the people that use the money. In her novel, Womanat Point Zero, Nawal El Saadawi
frequently mentions the appearance of physical money through linked scenes to illustrate that,
although one s power in society often dictates other people s perception of him/her, he/she should
still attempt to gain respect through hard work and attitude.
First, Saadawi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, she demonstrates an epiphany when Firdaus rediscovered the truth that I had
already discovered many years before... (134). By connecting the two scenes through a
reference to the time that Firdaus first held money when she was younger, Saadawi creates this
epiphany because Firdaus makes a realization that she does not need money for other people to
respect. If Firdaus had kept that money, she would be like her younger self, relying on other
men to support her. But since Saadawi believes otherwise, she conveys through linked scenes
that one should not have to rely on other people s money to gain respect from others. Since these
are linked scenes, any major differences Saadawi makes are most likely deliberate. One of these
changes between the scenes is Firdaus attitude toward money. In the first scene, she is happy and
prideful about having money, however, in this case she is so disgusted by it that she tears it up.
Firdaus perception of money did not change, but it was her perception of what money did to
others and herself. Therefore, Saadawi creates a bitter tone by criticizing the use money as a
means for people to control those who are not as

The Problem Of Air Pollution
Arizona is on the rise as one of the fastest metropolitan areas in the United States of America. In
fact, in 2015 Forbes Magazine ranks Phoenix, Arizona as the 11th fastest growing city in the
U.S.1 This growth is due the unprecedented resources and growing opportunities in the state of
Arizona. With all of these opportunities come more production, which means more emissions
from various industries and cars, more fossil fuels burned, and household and farming chemicals
added to the sky. All of these are examples of pollution; which is one the sacrifices that comes
with being a large city that is emerging. Pollution is defined as the action or process of making
land, water, air, etc., dirty and not safe or suitable to use.2 We understand that Phoenix is a rapidly
growing city, but they should be able to grow without being a detriment to the environment and
health of their citizens. The purpose of my report is to examine the problem of air pollutionin
Phoenix, Arizona and look at solutions to fix this problem.
Air pollution can harm plants, lakes, and animals. In addition to damaging the natural environment,
air pollution also can damage buildings, monuments, and statues. Not only does it reduce your
visibility but it also interferes with aviation. In 1970, Congress created the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) and passed the Clean Air Act, giving the federal government authority to
clean up air pollution in this country.3 Ever since then, the EPA, states, tribes,

  • 3. A Separate Peace Literary Analysis History is said to repeat itself after great amounts of time, but could two major world events that happened just a mere three years from each other be so similar? A Separate Peace, by John Knowles, chronicles the story of two teenage boys, Finny and Gene, at a private school in New England during World WarII. Their entire school life is centered around preparing for the war, but rebellious Finny has other ideas for himself and Gene. Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck involves two migrant workers during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression who are facing the struggles of dealing with Lennie s disability. These two books may not seem similar in plot, but thematically they share several aspects. In both novels, it can be seen that tragic events cause certain characters to seek a safe place and satisfaction. For instance, Finny, from A Separate Peace, can be observed looking for a safe place and satisfaction. There are two tragic events that lead to Finny exemplifying a need of satisfaction from an outside source. The first of which would be World War II as a whole; and, more specifically within the microcosm that is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Placed in this prison are many different people that could harm the citizens of the United States such as terrorists and other wicked people. The government of the United States has fought over whether to close down the prison, and bring the inmates onto American soil or to keep the prison open with them over in Guantanamo Bay. The government should not close down the prison because it will put citizens in the U.S. in more danger than before. Many people say that keeping Guantanamo open is fueling other countries to go against America and not have the U.S. as an ally, but wouldn t it really be a weak point for America to bow down... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trump would be making a good decision if he did this because it s a message to a lot of different countries telling them that America does not mess with terrorism and never will. After seeing that the country no longer messes with terrorists then there will be a major decrease in terrorism against the U.S. Records show that financially it costs around $5.56 million per detainee annually at Guantanamo. Guantanamo is a detention facility, made for terrorists and other cruel people that came into the U.S., if the facility is not used then the cost of each prisoner goes up, although, if more prisoners are put into the facility then the cost will go down for each detainee. Filling the facility up with more prisoners will make it so that the subject of costing too much will be voided. The facility is falling apart due to lack of inmates because many of them have been transferred, and if it is refilled then it will prosper more than ever. Guantanamo is keeping Americans safe from terrorists and wicked people the government needs to keep it that way. Let Donald J. • 9. Analysis Of Dave Barry s Anecdote A Couple Of Really Nice... Do you hate littering? Don t you hate when you go to a nice beach and you see trash all over? Dave Barry s anecdote A Couple Of Really Nice Guys is a high level of comedy that uses a personal issue and exaggerates it to reveal universal truth about littering. The author uses comic characters/caricatures and hyperboles. First, the author used a lot of hyperboles. For example, on page 326, I HATE littering. I hate it when you go to a park or the beach and the day is suddenly destroyed by the arrival of The Picnic People from Hell. This situation was exaggerated with humor to express the narrator s hatred for littering. Another example of a hyperbole is on page 325, They just WALK AWAY from what looks like the scene of a tragic dumpster explosion. This quote is expressing the how big of a mess they left.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, on page 326, Captain Tidy is a concept I have fantasized about for many years. He is a masked avenger for the forces of neatness. When a person litters, Captain Tidy comes swooping out of nowhere and explains to the litterer, in polite terms, that he or she is being a jerk. Captain Tidy is a caricature in this passage. He is a character that the narrator made up so he could have some fun but also tell people to pick up their trash. The narrator and his friend would dress up in their costumes and go out in public to stop people from littering. The reason why Captain Tidy is considered a caricature is because he is a made up character. Another example of a caricature is on page 326, But if I knew that if Captain Tidy had a SIDEKICK, a LARGE sidekick, a large, TRAINED OPTOMETRIST sidekick, that would be a whole different story. And thus Jeff and I became Captain Tidy and Neatness Man. The other caricature in this passage is Neatness Man. Just like Captain Tidy, Neatness Man is not real. • 11. Special Needs For Special Education Over the past years, the total number of students with special needs in the United States has grown from 1990 through 2005. Studies from the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) show that there are 4.8 million children enrolled in public schools who received special education between the ages of 3 21. The studies show that in 1990 the percent of children receiving special education in the school was 11 percent, while in 2005 the amount of students receiving special education grew to 14 percent. Actual studies by the IDEA during 2012 and 2013 reported that 6.4 million of the students enrolled in public schools are obtaining special education. We can see that students with special needs are rapidly increasing and at the same time we can notice that special education teachers are becoming scarce. Taking in consideration all the aforementioned, I decided to interview a youth specialist education professor. I wanted to know what truly inspired him to change his major and become a Special Education educator. Malcolm J. Warren who was a political science major who got into education on a whim. He started as a substitute teacher then as a paraprofessional and then was hired as a teacher. He has been working with special education students for about four years. Recent media has been reluctant on processing the news straight forward. The spin of information for ratings causes viewers to look past their favorite news. Luckily, due to technology you may not get it from your local broadcast. If you wait someone will post videos and the victim or wrong doer may get justice. Evidence of media stereotyping has happened recently. Louisiana had another flood and the people went into panic mode. Two media sources reported people wading through water from a grocery store. An African American couple they labeled as stealing. The same day a Caucasian couple doing the same thing labeled as finding food to survive. Certainly, if it were not for social media and further research many may have missed both sides. This is why it is imperative for people to think outside of their box and explore the whole of social media. The picture above is proof that the media skews the information according to their audience. Both of these articles were written on the same day in the same city. The media appears to shed a negative light on African Americans in the media. A story that comes to mind was a Caucasian couple who resided in the suburbs and had average jobs. • 14. McBride s View of Market Research Market research is defined as the gathering of information about a market s size and trends (QuickMBA, 2010). For McBride, the point of conducting market research is to identify good markets to pursue that the bank is not already pursuing. This research should also help McBride to determine how these markets compare to the market it already has. The company may find through the course of this research that its current target market is the best one to target going forward, a strategy that implies further penetration of the existing market as opposed to opening up new markets. McBride should therefore conduct market research using the available demographic information from the US Census Bureau, and information from its own customer bases. Ideally, the company would be able to formulate customer profiles of competitors, but this information may be difficult to obtain. McBride should aim to create a demographic and psychographic profile of its current customer base, and the same for other potential customer bases. Differences between McBride s existing customers and the general population of the area in which McBride operates can highlight some potential markets, in terms of demographics, income levels, education, banking behavior and other key variables. The more variables that McBride studies the better, bearing in mind the cost of acquiring additional information. The choice of media used in the implementation of McBride s marketing plan should be guided by the results of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Analysis Of Eliezer Wiesel s Night Eliezer Wiesel is a Nobel Prize winning writer, teacher and activist known for the novel Night, in which he recounts his experiences surviving the Holocaust. After he was freed from Buchenwald in 1945, Wiesel went on to study at the Sorbonne in France from 1948 1951 and took up journalism, writing for the French and the Israeli publications. His friend, Francois Mauriac encouraged him to write about his experiences in the camps; Wiesel then published in Yiddish the memoir And the World Would Remain Silent in 1956. The book was shortened and published in France as La Nuit, and as Night for English readers in 1960. The memoir became an acclaimed bestseller, translated up to 30 languages, and is considered an influential work on the terrors of the Holocaust. Night was later followed by two novels, Dawn (1961) and Day (1962), to form a trilogy that looked closely at humankind s destructive treatment of one another. Teaching was one of Wiesel s passion, having been appointed in the mid 1970s as Boston University s Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities. He also taught Judaic studies at the City University of New York, and served as a visiting scholar at Yale. Wiesel went on to write dozens of books, including Town of Luck (1962), The Gates of the Forest (1966), and such nonfiction works as Souls on Fire: Portraits and Legends of Hasidic Masters (1982) and the memoir All Rivers Run to the Sea (1995). The Treasure Of Lemon Brown Analysis One day I was walking down fifth street and I saw a man pull something out of the trash and he saw me eyeing him and he told me what was one man s trash is another man s treasure. The kid wanted to play on the recreation basketball team, but, his grades were poor, so he left the house in a rage and meet someone. In the story The Treasure of Lemon Brown written by Walter Dean Myers, the author portrays the theme that sometimes you have to let someone else open your eyes because people get too focused on one thing that they can t see other things. • 20. First Opium War Research Paper Good morning class and Mrs Bennett. The Hypothesis for this topic is that the First Opium War caused problems in society because the criminal rate increased, as well as the local consumption of the drug. This presentation will be discussing mainly what opium is, what the first opium war was, and why it started. The Opium War was a battle in Chinathat occurred during the mid 19th century. This war was between western countries, such as Britain, and the Qing Dynasty, which ruled China between 1644 and 1911. The First Opium War was conducted from 1839 to 1842, and was between China and Britain. The reasoning for the war occurring was caused by China s attempts to withhold the Opium trade. It was over diplomatic relations, trade, and the administration of foreign nationals in China. Opium was illegally being imported into China, through India, by the British. They grew the opium on their plantations in India. At first, the British were addicted to stimulating Chinese tea. Trade imbalance occurred due to the Chinese buying few European products and demanding Gold or Silver in return. The reverse flow of Silver and the increasing number of opium addicts alarmed Chinese officials, and resulted in over 20,000 chests of opium to be confiscated. As opium was being imported into china, it caused unrest in society, the local consumption to increase, and the decrease in the price of the drug. Being a stimulant drug, Opium spread throughout the country, badly affecting its nation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Answer: Ebbers self inflicted, self centered, transactional leadership style paved the way for the firm s demise. He loaned subordinates to ensure compliance, loyalty, and cooperation. A transformational leader leads subordinates to achieve goals for all. The main issue is trust, a trait that is higher in transformational than in transactional leadership (Principles of Management, 2015). Ebbers decided otherwise. • 22. Love Is Love By Cartoon Arts International Essay Love is Love? In a close five to four Supreme Court ruling vote on June 26th, 2015, same sex couples gained the right to marry in all fifty states (Kenneth, Gay Rights ). As this news spread, some were displeased, some were overjoyed, and some were somewhere in the middle. The wide range of views on this topic made it easy to be turned into a satire. A comic by Cartoon Arts International shows a man complaining to his wife that same sex marriageis hurting heterosexual marriage, in which the wife retaliates and makes a comment about divorcing him because of his stated opinion (Kurtzman). It is ironic that the woman talks about destroying their heterosexual marriage because she didn t like what her husband said, and the husband claims that heterosexual marriages are being hurt because of homosexual marriage. The reasoning behind the comic is to persuade the reader to agree with the point of view it representsp, or to believe that homosexual marriage has no effect on heterosexual marriages, and to do so in a comedic way to lighten the tension of the multitude of views on the topic of gay marriage. Although this satire and many others are mainly made to persuade an audience to one binary viewpoint of an issue, there are many other viewpoints outside of the two binaries. Before the legalization of marriage equality was established, the Defense of Marriage Act (DoMA), had been reigning since 1996, when President Bill Clinton signed it into a law after it was passed through ... There have been many cases where someone has experienced a loss, and then that person ends up taking their own life. This is the most tragic thing that I can think of. Now we have two horrible losses to deal with, and I sure don t think that this helps anyone in any way. Depression is normal throughout a loss, but not when it is taken to the level of suicide. I think that if enough family and friends are always available to help the person most dealing with the loss then this sort of thing can be avoided. The fifth and final stage of grief is acceptance. It must be noted that there is a difference between resignation and acceptance. A person must accept the loss, not just try to bear it quietly. There must be realization that the person is gone when they die. People must realize that it is not their fault, and that their loved one did not leave them on purpose. The Senate s failure to ratify the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 shows this idea, due to the feud between President Woodrow Wilson and the Internationalists, and Henry Cabot Lodge and the Reservationists. The Internationalists fully supported the passing of the Treaty of Versailles, whereas the Reservationists believed it was necessary to change the Treaty, specifically Article Ten. The Republicans resisted the Treaty because they believed that if it were to be ratified, Wilson s prestige would soar and he might even be re elected for a third time (Bailey, 184). Thus, the Republican Party was against the Treaty of Versailles in its original form out of fear. Wilson fully believed that the Treaty was going to bring world peace, and regardless of this belief, the Republican Party voted against it because of who came up with it. Wilson fought greatly for it and said that if the Treaty failed that he would gather all the soldiers who fought in World War One and tell them I told you before you went across the seas that this was a war against wars and I did my best to fulfill the promise, but I am obliged to come to you in mortifications and shame and say I have not been able to fulfill the promise, (Wilson). Wilson was willing to take blame for the hypothetical failure of the Treaty of Versailles and the Republicans still voted against it because they did not want Wilson s popularity to go up. Wilson believed so strongly in Article Ten that he believed that the League of Nations would justify the United States honor and bring peace to the world (Wilson). The belief that the Republican Party did not ratify the Treaty because they did not want to risk another Wilson presidency is absurd. This idea perpetuates the idea that if one person, in a position of power, strongly believes in something, then it must good. One can apply this idea to how strongly Wilson believed in the Treaty of Versailles, yet it was not enough to convince the Senate that the League of Nations Collective Security Covenant was a good idea. • 26. The Prophetic Intuition Of Pope John Paul II And The... Fr R. Cantalamessa pointed out, The prophetic intuition of Pope Paul VI had a determining role in this (recognition of the CCR by the Church). In that, on Pentecost of 1975 at a meeting with its leaders, he defined the Charismatic Renewal as a chance for the Church. Cardinal L.J. Suenens, a protagonist of CCR, recognized it as a current of grace and convinced Pope Paul VIof the need for the Church to accept and encourage the Renewal in order that it should not grow in isolation. In the summer of 1975, some 10,000 Catholic charismatics gathered in the Catacombs of St. Callistus in Rome for the Second International Congress. A special Mass was celebrated with singing in tongues and prophecies at the Papal Altar in St. Peter s Basilica, Rome followed by the historic special audience with Pope Paul VI. The Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) is much indebted to Saint Pope John Paul II for its growth and acceptance in the Church through the unfailing support it received throughout his Pontificate. At a special audience on 7 May 1981 to the participants of the Fourth International Leaders Conference in Rome, Saint John Paul II said that he made his own the words of St Paul, I give thanks to God every time I think of you (Phil 1:3). • 31. Personal Culture And World View It is a big undertaking to attempt to explain one s culture and world view in a few words. My culture and world view began within the house I was raised. I come from a white, middle class family, with a household of 5. My mom and dad both worked very hard to maintain a middle class living status for their family, and made many sacrifice. Values that were stressed in my household were loyalty, work ethic, family bonds, and character. Religion did not play a big part in my household growing up, and lack of religion, or self reliance was stressed more. Both of my parents worked, however gender roles were pretty obvious in my house. My mother not only worked, but also took care of many of the household chores, while my father handled lawn work, mechanical tasks, etc. The biggest world view that sticks out for me that I learned growing up is that if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything. However, you have to work for it there are no hand outs. In writing this, I can think back to many times where racial, or racist, statements were made in my house. It can be hard to talk about, and I cannot provide justification for many of the comments. Our home was about 10 blocks from public housing. I can recall driving past, and many times, my dad pointing out the fact that those people didn t have to work for anything. Cattle had been part of the cross border exchange for an extended period of time, but in the 1950s an outbreak of foot and mouth disease temporarily halted the cattle trade. A border fence was proposed, so the possibility that the disease would spread could be contained. However, unlike today, both Mexicans and Americans alike called the proposed fence a repulsive symbol of division that they would not stand for. This fence would be an impediment to the flow of people who constantly travelled between Mexico and the United States. This was exemplified through the department store, JГЎcome s, which actively promoted cross border exchange. Situated in the heart of Tucson, JГЎcome s was a gathering point for people living on both sides of the border as it was inviting to both Mexicans and those living in the United States. The name of JГЎcome s store appealed to both groups of people. JГЎcome kept the accent over the a in the name, which causes the name to be distinctly Spanish. Economically the automobile industry is an oligopoly. This is why the Big 3 remains the Big 3. The nature of building cars makes it difficult for small players to enter the market. The cost of entry is high. As an oligopoly, the Big 3 also tend to pay more attention to one another than to customers or competitors. If GM adds airbags, Chrysler and Ford add airbags. Being the smallest, Chrysler tends to follow rather than lead. Ideas generated outside the Big 3 tend to be ignored. When times are good, automakers can sell anything they can produce. That includes bad cars. But during recessions, automakers lose billions of dollars just maintaining operations. This is basically due to the high fixed costs. And those costs are getting higher as tight union contracts make labor a fixed cost. The industry consists of six segments: three mature markets (North America, Japan and Western Europe) and three emerging markets (Asia Pacific, Eastern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Greeks were some of the first mathematicians recorded to have imagined the concept of infinity. However, they did not actuaily delve into the entirety of this number. The Greeks used the term potentially infinite, for the concept of an actual limitless value was beyond their comprehension. The actual term infinitywas defined by Georg Cantor, a renowned German mathematician, in the late nineteenth century. It was originally used in his Set Theory, which is a very important theory to the mathematical world. The value of infinity can get a bit confusing, as there are different types of infinity. Many claim that infinity is not a number. This is true, but it does have a value. So, infinity may be used in mathematical equations as the greatest possible value. i The value of infinity Infinity (00) is the greatest possibleivalue that can exist. Analysis Of Angels In America Perestroika By Tony Kushner In the play, Angels in America: Perestroika, by Tony Kushner, sexual imagery is heavily detailed and openly expressed on multiple occasions. Kushner has a unique style of not holding back when it comes to the expression of sexuality, especially with the development of the mostly gay cast. Why does Kushner feel the need to introduce such explicit and sexually provocative imagery into the play? One potential reason is that outwardly expressing gay sexuality destigmatizes the gay experience in America. The more exposed people are to such outward displays of sexuality, the less stigma would be associated with homosexuality. There are two occasions in act 1 where Kushner heavily expresses sexual imagery. The first, and more provocative instance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Utopia was connected to the rest of the continent. However, Utopus arranged for his soldiers and the native settlers of the land to excavate a fifteen mile ditch. The water surrounding the island aids the separation between Utopiaand its neighbors. One side of the water is very shallow, and on the other side, sharp rocks prevent boats from entering. So, ships from the rest of the continent cannot navigate these waters without help from experienced Utopians. Shaped like a crescent, the island stretches 200 feet wide to 500 feet tall. Once the fifteen mile ditch was dug, Utopians founded fifty four cities, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Second, since the water separates Utopia from the rest of the continent, Utopians chances of war decrease no one surrounds them. Because the chances of war decrease, Utopians do not necessarily need allies to defend them. They believe that if their common humanity won t unite together, then promises won t be fulfilled. Also, Utopians do not approve of war. Therefore, the jagged rocks and shallow water surrounding the island prevent enemies from coming onto their territory, reducing the chances that Utopia will be attacked. The shouldr joint is a ball and socket type joint and is connected to part of the humerus and the scapula at the glenoid cavity. This is the most mobile joint in the body, but also the most frequently injured. The rotator cuff, which is a main component of the shoulder jointis often injured so research on how to efficiently heal that injury is ongoing. The shoulder joint is extremely flexible compared to the rest of the joints in the body. This flexibility is partly due to the fact that it is a ball and socket joint. By being a ball and socket joint it means that it is capable of circumduction, angular, and rotational movement. It allows one s arm to move up, down, to the right, to the left, and in a circle. Because it has a large range of movement, it is unstable and easily damaged. To make up for this, it has many ligaments and tendons to keep it in place. In relation to faith and religion, Catholicism teaches that humans are endowed with the image and likeness of God from the moment of conception. Soul food is considered to be fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, breaded fried okra and yams. To make their points, authors often add a certain connotation to the people that use the money, rather than money itself. Nawal El Saadawi describes a society in which many use money for selfish reasons, often suppressing other groups, like women, in the process, which represents a negative attitude toward the people that use the money. In her novel, Womanat Point Zero, Nawal El Saadawi frequently mentions the appearance of physical money through linked scenes to illustrate that, although one s power in society often dictates other people s perception of him/her, he/she should still attempt to gain respect through hard work and attitude. If Firdaus had kept that money, she would be like her younger self, relying on other men to support her. But since Saadawi believes otherwise, she conveys through linked scenes that one should not have to rely on other people s money to gain respect from others. Since these are linked scenes, any major differences Saadawi makes are most likely deliberate. One of these changes between the scenes is Firdaus attitude toward money.
