The Four Stages Of Memory In The United States
States of Memory Memory is the nervous system s capacity to acquire and retain skills
and knowledge for later retrieval (Grison, 233).The three recognized stages of memory
are sensory, short term, and long term. Each of the stages have their own individual
characteristics. The first of the three stages, sensory, creates perceptual continuity for the
world around us (Grison, 239). The encoding for this stage is experienced through an
individual s senses, but the duration of the experience only lasts a few seconds,
depending on the sense (Grison, 239). Though the experience only lasts a few seconds,
the capacity of storage for the experience is vast due to huge amount of sensory input
(Grison, 239). Short termstorage maintains
Elizabethan Era Beauty
Beauty in the Elizabethan Era and Much Ado About Nothing Throughout history,
literature has been a way for people to expand their viewpoint and appreciate the world
around them through different cultures and traditions presented in a story. C. S. Lewis
explains that through literature; We seek an enlargement of our being. We want to be
more than ourselves (137). This explains that through literature, people learn lessons and
read because they want to learn from these lessons and better themselves. Many
influential writers throughout history have brought different ideas and lessons that have
helped shape the society we know today. One writer who has had a tremendous impact
on society is William Shakespeare. Shakespeare s works are still well read and can be
related to today even though the Elizabethan Erain which he lived in is different from
the culture of the modern world. However, the Elizabethan Era still has aspects of its
society that can resonate with that of the modern day. One of those aspects is the
stereotypes that women were faced with during the Elizabethan Era. The Elizabethan
Era was a time of social reform for women. Though women became more educated and
seen in a different light than what they were used to, the era in no way brought them to
the equivalence of a women in today s society. Women were still seen as inferior by men
and men still believed they were the greatest creation in the world. Tim Stretton states, In
almost every context in
Observation Is The Major Role Of The Teacher
Observation: Observation is the major role of the teacher. The teacher observes for
routines and procedure to be observed. The teacher observes for ground rule in the
classroom and in individual materials. The ground rules are opportunity for the child to
develop his/her will. The teacher observes for pattern of order in the behavior of the
child. The teacher observes for respect child to child, child to material, child to adult
interaction.
Control of Error: is the built in aspect of the material also sometime found as coding on
the back of the material.
For Example, in spindle box the extra or not enough spindle left is control of error. The
material like matching numeral to number rods, teacher is the control of error. Prepare
of the environment: A prepared environment is an important role of Montessori
classroom .the goal of prepared environment is to make children safe and comfortable.
A calm and orderly space enables the children to work on various activities of their
choice at a pace they are comfortable with. They also experience a mix of freedom and
self discipline in space that is designed to meet their development needs.
A teacher observes the child working with the materials and make changes to the
environment. In mathematic materials, extensions and additional problems are
introduced to deepen child s understanding of materials. For example, variations
introduced when child is ready with basic concepts of a particular material to support
child needs.

Ontological Argument Against Anselm
Does God exist? According to Anselm of Canterbury of course God exists, and he is
able to explain how that is to be. Anselm uses the ontological argument to essentially
state that the only way for a perfect creator, God, to be even greater would to exist in
reality as opposed to thought, and thus, God exists. This logic is argued against by many
philosophers throughout time, most notably by a fellow Benedictine monk, Gaunilo.
Gaunilo uses the same logic in reference to the most perfect island and shows the flaws
to Anselm s logic. Gaunilo criticizes against Anselm s view on how to confirm the
existenceof God using the same method in a form of reductio ad absurdum. In this case
the example of a perfect island is utilized. One may dream or
The Importance Of Classroom Management
When it comes to teaching, it s not so much about best moments, but the diminutive
activities that happen each day, because when you walk in, you re cared about. Your
teaching philosophy stays the same, but as you age, you change how you teach/discipline
due to perception. There is no advantage in knocking people down. Your perceptionof
students changes as you age, since as you become older, it is easier to be farther strict
and disciplining. You can stick to the same technique and be bored, or you can change
it up. Your pay does not increase, but the job will become farther interesting. You also
attain fewer discipline problems/threats as you age. Classroom management is
everything, as it is the most important aspect of teaching and managing a class. Some
teachers who are really great at making lesson plans have difficulty managing a class.
Classroom management is different depending on where you go. Routines are set up,
not ruled, and there are no punishments for breaking routine. Routines change over the
school year, but they re always connected to prior routine. No one will hear the lesson
if you can t manage your class. When teaching special needs, all teaching is
commendable teaching practice. It is imperative to use all 5 senses, as we learn terrific
using our 5 senses. Whatever senseyou use depends on who you work with. If you teach
first grade or kindergarten, you can teach any group of special needs kids. The biggest
challenge for kids today is being satisfied.
Essay On The Group
When my summer coworkers invited me to join their fall trivia team I knew I had
found the perfect collective activity for this project. The Grawood organizes a trivia
night every Wednesday night from nine until midnight. It runs through the summer
and school year. I focused on one particular group. I sat with this group and observed
them for a couple sessions of trivia. By 8:30 the Grawood is already packed and every
table is full. Groups of regular trivia goers gather early to get tables near the stage.
Many greet each other with hugs and greetings of people you have not seen since the
last week s trivia night. Several groups, including the one I was observing, seem to only
see each other at trivia. These groups chat and catch up until... Show more content on

Once the trivia begins however, a hush falls. Phones disappear into pockets and voices
drop in volume. Everyone seems to automatically follow rules for the most part. No
one seems to care enough about winning to be accused of cheating. The risk of being
labelled as a cheater does not seem to outweigh the reward of winning. In our group, a
couple members were chided by other members about having their phones out in case
anyone even thought they were cheating. One girl, who has clearly had quite a bit to
drink is yelling and wavering in her chair. She receives many dirty looks from my
group and other neighbouring tables. No one says anything but she is clearly
considered a disruption. The only time groups are noticeably loud are during the large
gaps between sections. During that time music is playing in background (usually songs
that were featured on the song questions from the previous section) and people are
jabbering to each other. Conversation do not actually tend to be about the trivia, but
rather the previous week, catching up with each other, and swapping stories. One
common theme to the trivia night was the benefits regulars received. There is a free
answer given out on twitter every week. The trivia is set up the same every week as
well: first section has a theme, second section is usually a mystery word, and the last
section has the same types of questions given out each week. This gives an advantage to
returning groups. Despite
Stingless Bees Temperature Sensitivity Study
In a study performed by Jose Macias, temperature sensitivity of three stingless bees
were evaluated and information was gathered on changes in thoracic temperature,
behavior, and mortality rate for working bees and pupae in low and high temperatures.
In each colony, 100 workers were placed in a wooden box with two feeders: one with
sugar syrup and one with water. Temperaturerecords of the thorax of the bees and the
number of times they consumed sugar and water were recorded every hour, while the
bees were in hot and cold temperatures. The major findings of this study showed that
workers of highland M. colimana increased sugar consumption and thoracic temperatures
in cold environments, and regurgitated water and fanned their wings in high temperatures
(Macias 2011). In a study with Apis mellifera., it was found that these bees exhibited the
highest foraging rates in the afternoons where the average temperature was 27В°C, and
the least in the mornings where the average temperature was 13В°C. The foraging...

In this analysis, research for responses in sugar consumption, thorax temperatures, wing
fanning, water regurgitation, metabolic rates, and thermoregulation capabilities for both
high and low temperatures in bee species were discussed. In high temperatures, bee
colonies maintained optimal temperatures for brood development and prevented
overheating by using cooling mechanisms such as fanning, seeking water to lose heat to
evaporation, and concentrating nectar. Honeybees are unable to tolerate temperatures
below 9В°C, and they respond to cool temperatures by employing clustering and
shivering flight muscles in the thorax to maintain a stable body temperature (Southwick
1987). It is plausible to conclude that the various types of responses that certain bee
species exhibit as a response to temperature changes, allow them to survive in wide
temperature
Disadvantages Of Fuzzy Logic
Chapter 2
2.1 Fuzzy Logic Controller Fuzzy logic is a type of multi valued logic. It deals with
approximate reasoning rather than precise. Fuzzy logic derived from fuzzy set theory.
Fuzzy logic was first proposed by Lotfi Zadeh in 1965. Fuzzy logic has currently used in
control theory, artificial intelligence systems specially to control complex aircraft engines
and control surfaces, helicopter control, messile guidance, automatic transmission, wheel
slip control, auto focus cameras and washing machines, railway engines for smoother
drive and fuel consumption and many industrial processes. Fuzzy logic provide better
results if we compared it with PID controller. Fuzzy set of theory represent the human

Haman knowledge and experience can be implemented using linguistic rules.
Non linear plants can be controlled.
It can also control fast processes.
Disadvantages of fuzzy control
Human knowledge is often incomplete and episodic as compared to systematic way.
If the model is not known then it is impossible to achieve the stability of the controller
system.
Sometime rules are mismatched and non coherent.
In complex operation fuzzification and defuzzification take long time.
Fuzzy expert systems There are two famous type of system currently used in fuzzy logic
Mamdani fuzzy inference
Sugeno fuzzy inference
2.2Mamdani fuzzy inference.
The most common method is used currently is fuzzy inference system. In 1975,
Professor Ebrahim Mamdani of London University introduced first time fuzzy systems to
control a steam engine and boiler combination. He applied a set of fuzzy rules
experienced human operators. The mamdani system usually done in four
Monterroso The Eclipse
English II
The Eclipse
The Eclipse was a very well written short story by Augusto Monterroso. An eclipse Is
when an astronomical object temporary overshadows another astronomical object such as
the sun that to some creates a dark ominous feeling in the air. In the short story The
Eclipse, author Augusto Monterroso uses these symbolic characteristics of an Eclipse to
convey how the character Bartolome Arrazola feels when he tries to interact with an
undeveloped civilization that also has a dark ominous feeling.
This type of astronomical event is a rare sighting for people and happens in lengthy time
spans. The irony of the story being so short but still conveying its message in its own
mannerism. Also, even though the story is titled Eclipse ... Show more content on

He then formulates a plan to where he would deceive the natives based on the
perception of ignorance he believed the undeveloped civilization of natives had, so he
won t be sacrificed. His plan was to tell the natives that if he was to be sacrificed then he
would darken the sun in its height, so he was saying that he would cause an eclipse of the
sun. In a way he tried to cast his shadow of knowledge over the native s ignorance like
the eclipse of the sun to escape with his life. However, like the shadow of the eclipse
over the sun it doesn t last forever and the shadow of knowledge he tried to cast over the
native s ignorance didn t last as well and led to his demise.
The author then later reveals in the story that the Mayans had already formulated a
calendar to when there would be solar and lunar eclipses. The native s overshadowed
the developed civilization s charter, Arrazola, ignorance with their knowledge because
he would had never guessed that an undeveloped civilization like the Mayans could
make such a calendar. That s one of the key points of irony in the story they the author
did a splendid job conveying. The undeveloped nation conquers the developed nation
character because of his
Gender Roles Are Becoming Increasing More Malleable
Gender roles in society are becoming increasing more malleable. The younger
generation is less inclined to follow the same roles that their parents and grandparents
followed. In Disney s Brave, the main character, Merida, is a perfect example of this.
She doesn t follow the traditional girly norms that princesses usually reflect, she is
wildly defiant toward her mother, especially in regards to her betrothal, and she doesn
t even want to be a princess, which is something rarely seen. Merida does not follow
the typical gender roles of a princess. She doesn t like dresses, she doesn t want to
follow the rules, and she isn t into typical princess things, such as looking nice. When
her mother makes her wear a tight fitting dress to the competition for her hand in
marriage, she is completely uncomfortable in the restrictive item of clothing. She then
rips her dress in order for her to properly shoot her arrows in the competition for her
hand. She outshoots all three of her suitors, causing her mother to become furious. Her
mother, the queen, is outraged that Merida has brought disrespected to her and the
kingdom. Merida does not care about the possible shame she has brought to the
kingdom. She will not allow herself to be forced to marry a man that she does not want
to. These acts demonstrate her defiance, which is not generally the trait of a princess,
unless it is directed towards the father. Merida s defiance is more so directed at
everybody. Due to this, she is not one to
Patrol Officers
Patrol Officers are not assigned a case to try and solve. In most major cities police
departments have enough personal to cover every aspect of a crime, however, the role of
the patrol officer during investigations has increased. On page 23, in the book, under the
patrol officer as an investigator, it mentions that the role of the patrolofficer has been
limited, however, as time continues that same role seem to increase. The role of the
patrol officer has taken over some of the same responsibilities as the investigators have.
Such as providing immediate assistance to victims, locates witness, and interviews both
victims and witnesses. Also, the patrol officer has the authority to initiate and complete
investigations of certain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It sends a message to the people that they live in a safe place. Which for many people
that little bit of reassurance is all they need to be happy. Nobody wants to live in a bad
place, or a place they feel is dangerous. Also, with expanding the role of the patrol
officer, this is very beneficial with today s economy. I never think you can put a price
on protecting the people, but, the sad reality is that in today s economic times, we
have to. To hire a new recruit comes a price, it is just easier for the community of the
patrol officers to be expected to do more. In most cases these officers want to do more to
solve the crimes to put that faith back into the community that crimes will be resolved
right away. Right when a crime happens, most people instantly become fearful that it will
happen again, so, they become on edge, and question that the police will be able to catch
the people that hurt them or robbed them. With crimes being solved right away, that
puts the fear at ease and lets them know they are safe and it will not continue to
happen. I was reading ahead a tad bit and came across theft that happens in banks,, and
how those people are caught the same day. For me, that instantly puts my mind at ease.
Years ago, one of the buildings I was working in, there was a theft that happened in the
bank downstairs, and every got really nervous
Children In Brave New World Analysis
In fifty years, how will your great grandchildren act? In today s world children are
losing their morals, in the near future we may live in the Brave New World and
intentionally disregard of our children. Children grow up too soon, forced into maturity,
and get too comfortable with sex when they re too young.
Children in the Brave New World don t have mothers or fathers so they are taught to
become adults before they are the age of adulthood (Huxley). While the children are
only toddlers they are forced to do erotic play , which would be related to simple
playing on the playground in today s world, and are taught it is what s right and the
wrong thing is to not participate (Huxley 30). By the age of eight children are taken to

Turbine Engines, Brayton Cycle And Thermodynamics
Turbine Engines, Brayton Cycle and Thermodynamics
I m writing this research paper for my Thermodynamics class with Professor Roh. I have
a big interest in turbine gas engines and how they operate. My future goal within
mechanical engineering is to learn how to maintain and design turbine gas engines.
How do Turbine Gas Engines operate?
I read this article at Wartsila website which enlightened me that Gas turbines are
comprised of three primary sections mounted on the same shaft: the compressor, the
combustor and the turbine. The compressor can be either axial flow or centrifugal
flow. Axial flow compressors are more common in power generation because they
have higher flow rates and efficiencies. The acceleration of the air through the rotating
blades and diffusion by the stators increases the pressure and reduces the volume of the
air. Although no heat is added, the compression of the air also causes the temperature
to increase. The compressed air is mixed with fuel which ignites under constant
pressure conditions and the hot combustion products (gases) are directed through the
turbine where it expands rapidly and imparts rotation to the shaft. The turbine is also
comprised of stages, each with a row of stationary blades (or nozzles) to direct the
expanding gases followed by a row of moving blades. The rotation of the shaft drives the
compressor to draw in and compress more air to sustain continuous combustion. The
remaining shaft power is used to drive a generator
Total Hip Arthroplasty ( Tha )
Introduction:
Total hip arthroplasty (THA), commonly known as hip replacement, is a reconstructive
orthopedic procedure that involves the surgical excision of the head and proximal neck
of the femur and removal of the acetabular cartilage and subchondral bone(A). The
damaged joint is replaced with an implant that mimics the motion of the natural joint and
is made from combinations of metal, plastic and/or ceramic components(D).
Joint replacement is one of five priority areas targeted for shorter wait times in Canada.
Ontario s current wait time is 207 day.(F) The number of THAs in Canada increased
11% between 2006 2007 and 2010 2011. In 2013 2014, there were 49,503 hospitalizations
for hip replacements(B). THA has been used to manage conditions in which the hip
joint has responded poorly to less invasive treatments(D). The most common of which
is severe osteoarthritis of the hip joint, which affects more than 10% of Canadians aged
15 or older(G), and accounts for 70% of cases. The procedure has proved to be
remarkably successful in eliminating pain and restoring function in hips severely
involved with diseases, improving mobility, daily functioning and quality of life(A,D,G).
THA provides pain relief and improves physical function and quality of life in patients
with end stage hip osteoarthritis. The incidence of THA is expected to increase due to
the growing elderly population. Nevertheless, THA is becoming more common in
younger populations because of the improvements in
The Production of Sludge
Sludge could be produce in many ways, it can be from waste settlement to the dry
process. Brick is one of the flexible product that gain attention from researcher to be
incorporated with different type of sludge material such as waste water sludge, water
treatment sludge, marble sludge, effluent treatment plants (textile industry) sludgeand
arsenic contaminated sludge.
2.1Textile sludge
Jahagirdar et al (2013) discussed the reuse of textile mill sludge in burnt clay bricks.
Textile mill sludge was mixed together with different proportion (5% to 35%) as the raw
material in this study. The brick was fired at 600 to 800ВєC and for 8, 16 and 24hours.
Base on the result textile sludge can be added up to 15% as it gives compressive strength
above 3.5N/mm2 and the water absorption ratio is less than 20%.
According to (Herek et al, 2012) investigated on incorporated the textile laundry sludge
into a brick showed that sludge can be incorporate until a concentration of 20% in
terms of the mechanical properties. The compressive strength for the brick was
3.73Mpa for the control brick and 4.62Mpa for the sludge brick. For the water
absorption result had shown that 15.73% and 10.10% for control brick and sludge brick
respectively. Besides, the produces brick are safe according to applied leaching and not
exceed to the standard limits. (Baskar et al, 2006) discussed about characterization and
reuse of textile effluent treatment plant waste sludge in clay bricks. In this study the
Linear Programming in Healthcare Systems
Linear Programming in Healthcare Systems: Linear programming is one of the
qualitative tools in the decision making process of Operations Research. Similar with the
other methods in Operations Research, linear programming consists of a series of
mathematical optimization and simulation means and models. Currently, the use of
linear programming in providing optimized solutions has helped in lessening costs
significantly across medium and large sized organizations in various industrialized
countries. As a result, many researchers state that the development of linear
programming model is one of the most important scientific developments in the second
part of the 20th Century. In the healthcare field, linear programming has proven to be an
alternative to various critical aspects such as planning brachytherapy, in which it has
replaced the conventional solutions depending on trial and error. Moreover, linear
programming method has been used develop balanced diets at lesser costs and adhering
to a set of nutritional limitations.
Background Information: Hospital malnutrition or problems associated with economics
and nutrition in the hospital were identified more than three decades ago though they are
still overlooked today. This is because the health facility has not included nutrition
screening, evaluation, and intervention measures as part of the medical care. As a result,
hospital malnutrition continues to be an unidentified or unrecognized aspect in clinical
settings. The
Similarities Between Persia And Greece
While reading chapter four, I gathered that Persia and Greece, both countries which
flourished at the same time, were both similar in political and social advancements but
also had many differences namely, religions and philosophies. Greece was made of
many small city states due to the fact their citizens had to move often because they
were under pressure from war, the large population and poverty. Alternatively, Persia, a
country with much less war, created the largest empire of their time. From the long and
eventful time period of 1000 B.C.E. to 30 B.C.E., Iranian and Hellenistic lifestyles and
experiences were filled with new ideas. Persia and Greecewere both growing at the same
time so many similarities were shared. When it came to the development and interaction
of cultures there were similarities of science and technology and the arts and architecture.
On the other hand, there were many differences partly due to the fact that they were state
of war opposition and did not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Persian philosophy did not occur until well after the Greeks . Ancient Greek philosophy
arose in the 6th century B.C.E. and continued throughout the Hellenistic period and the
period in which Ancient Greece was part of the Roman Empire. It dealt with a wide
variety of subjects, including political philosophy, ethics, metaphysics, ontology, logic,
biology, rhetoric, and aesthetics. Greek philosophers were seekers and lovers of
wisdom . They studied and analyzed the world around them using logic and reason.
Although we often think of philosophy as religion or the meaning of life , the Greek
philosophers were also scientists. Many studied mathematics and physics as well. Often
the philosophers were teachers of wealthy children. Some of the more famous ones
opened their own schools or academies. Some of the most famous Greek philosophers
were Socrates, Plato, and

  • 2. The Four Stages Of Memory In The United States States of Memory Memory is the nervous system s capacity to acquire and retain skills and knowledge for later retrieval (Grison, 233).The three recognized stages of memory are sensory, short term, and long term. Each of the stages have their own individual characteristics. The first of the three stages, sensory, creates perceptual continuity for the world around us (Grison, 239). The encoding for this stage is experienced through an individual s senses, but the duration of the experience only lasts a few seconds, depending on the sense (Grison, 239). Though the experience only lasts a few seconds, the capacity of storage for the experience is vast due to huge amount of sensory input (Grison, 239). Short termstorage maintains
  • 3. Elizabethan Era Beauty Beauty in the Elizabethan Era and Much Ado About Nothing Throughout history, literature has been a way for people to expand their viewpoint and appreciate the world around them through different cultures and traditions presented in a story. C. S. Lewis explains that through literature; We seek an enlargement of our being. We want to be more than ourselves (137). This explains that through literature, people learn lessons and read because they want to learn from these lessons and better themselves. Many influential writers throughout history have brought different ideas and lessons that have helped shape the society we know today. One writer who has had a tremendous impact on society is William Shakespeare. Shakespeare s works are still well read and can be related to today even though the Elizabethan Erain which he lived in is different from the culture of the modern world. However, the Elizabethan Era still has aspects of its society that can resonate with that of the modern day. One of those aspects is the stereotypes that women were faced with during the Elizabethan Era. The Elizabethan Era was a time of social reform for women. Though women became more educated and seen in a different light than what they were used to, the era in no way brought them to the equivalence of a women in today s society. Women were still seen as inferior by men and men still believed they were the greatest creation in the world. Tim Stretton states, In almost every context in
  • 4. Observation Is The Major Role Of The Teacher Observation: Observation is the major role of the teacher. The teacher observes for routines and procedure to be observed. The teacher observes for ground rule in the classroom and in individual materials. The ground rules are opportunity for the child to develop his/her will. The teacher observes for pattern of order in the behavior of the child. The teacher observes for respect child to child, child to material, child to adult interaction. Control of Error: is the built in aspect of the material also sometime found as coding on the back of the material. For Example, in spindle box the extra or not enough spindle left is control of error. The material like matching numeral to number rods, teacher is the control of error. Prepare of the environment: A prepared environment is an important role of Montessori classroom .the goal of prepared environment is to make children safe and comfortable. A calm and orderly space enables the children to work on various activities of their choice at a pace they are comfortable with. They also experience a mix of freedom and self discipline in space that is designed to meet their development needs. A teacher observes the child working with the materials and make changes to the environment. In mathematic materials, extensions and additional problems are introduced to deepen child s understanding of materials. For example, variations introduced when child is ready with basic concepts of a particular material to support child needs. Relation
  • 5. Ontological Argument Against Anselm Does God exist? According to Anselm of Canterbury of course God exists, and he is able to explain how that is to be. Anselm uses the ontological argument to essentially state that the only way for a perfect creator, God, to be even greater would to exist in reality as opposed to thought, and thus, God exists. This logic is argued against by many philosophers throughout time, most notably by a fellow Benedictine monk, Gaunilo. Gaunilo uses the same logic in reference to the most perfect island and shows the flaws to Anselm s logic. Gaunilo criticizes against Anselm s view on how to confirm the existenceof God using the same method in a form of reductio ad absurdum. In this case the example of a perfect island is utilized. One may dream or
  • 6. The Importance Of Classroom Management When it comes to teaching, it s not so much about best moments, but the diminutive activities that happen each day, because when you walk in, you re cared about. Your teaching philosophy stays the same, but as you age, you change how you teach/discipline due to perception. There is no advantage in knocking people down. Your perceptionof students changes as you age, since as you become older, it is easier to be farther strict and disciplining. You can stick to the same technique and be bored, or you can change it up. Your pay does not increase, but the job will become farther interesting. You also attain fewer discipline problems/threats as you age. Classroom management is everything, as it is the most important aspect of teaching and managing a class. Some teachers who are really great at making lesson plans have difficulty managing a class. Classroom management is different depending on where you go. Routines are set up, not ruled, and there are no punishments for breaking routine. Routines change over the school year, but they re always connected to prior routine. No one will hear the lesson if you can t manage your class. When teaching special needs, all teaching is commendable teaching practice. It is imperative to use all 5 senses, as we learn terrific using our 5 senses. Whatever senseyou use depends on who you work with. If you teach first grade or kindergarten, you can teach any group of special needs kids. The biggest challenge for kids today is being satisfied.
  • 7. Essay On The Group When my summer coworkers invited me to join their fall trivia team I knew I had found the perfect collective activity for this project. The Grawood organizes a trivia night every Wednesday night from nine until midnight. It runs through the summer and school year. I focused on one particular group. I sat with this group and observed them for a couple sessions of trivia. By 8:30 the Grawood is already packed and every table is full. Groups of regular trivia goers gather early to get tables near the stage. Many greet each other with hugs and greetings of people you have not seen since the last week s trivia night. Several groups, including the one I was observing, seem to only see each other at trivia. These groups chat and catch up until... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the trivia begins however, a hush falls. Phones disappear into pockets and voices drop in volume. Everyone seems to automatically follow rules for the most part. No one seems to care enough about winning to be accused of cheating. The risk of being labelled as a cheater does not seem to outweigh the reward of winning. In our group, a couple members were chided by other members about having their phones out in case anyone even thought they were cheating. One girl, who has clearly had quite a bit to drink is yelling and wavering in her chair. She receives many dirty looks from my group and other neighbouring tables. No one says anything but she is clearly considered a disruption. The only time groups are noticeably loud are during the large gaps between sections. During that time music is playing in background (usually songs that were featured on the song questions from the previous section) and people are jabbering to each other. Conversation do not actually tend to be about the trivia, but rather the previous week, catching up with each other, and swapping stories. One common theme to the trivia night was the benefits regulars received. There is a free answer given out on twitter every week. The trivia is set up the same every week as well: first section has a theme, second section is usually a mystery word, and the last section has the same types of questions given out each week. This gives an advantage to returning groups. Despite
  • 8. Stingless Bees Temperature Sensitivity Study In a study performed by Jose Macias, temperature sensitivity of three stingless bees were evaluated and information was gathered on changes in thoracic temperature, behavior, and mortality rate for working bees and pupae in low and high temperatures. In each colony, 100 workers were placed in a wooden box with two feeders: one with sugar syrup and one with water. Temperaturerecords of the thorax of the bees and the number of times they consumed sugar and water were recorded every hour, while the bees were in hot and cold temperatures. The major findings of this study showed that workers of highland M. colimana increased sugar consumption and thoracic temperatures in cold environments, and regurgitated water and fanned their wings in high temperatures (Macias 2011). In a study with Apis mellifera., it was found that these bees exhibited the highest foraging rates in the afternoons where the average temperature was 27В°C, and the least in the mornings where the average temperature was 13В°C. The foraging... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this analysis, research for responses in sugar consumption, thorax temperatures, wing fanning, water regurgitation, metabolic rates, and thermoregulation capabilities for both high and low temperatures in bee species were discussed. In high temperatures, bee colonies maintained optimal temperatures for brood development and prevented overheating by using cooling mechanisms such as fanning, seeking water to lose heat to evaporation, and concentrating nectar. Honeybees are unable to tolerate temperatures below 9В°C, and they respond to cool temperatures by employing clustering and shivering flight muscles in the thorax to maintain a stable body temperature (Southwick 1987). It is plausible to conclude that the various types of responses that certain bee species exhibit as a response to temperature changes, allow them to survive in wide temperature
  • 9. Disadvantages Of Fuzzy Logic Chapter 2 2.1 Fuzzy Logic Controller Fuzzy logic is a type of multi valued logic. It deals with approximate reasoning rather than precise. Fuzzy logic derived from fuzzy set theory. Fuzzy logic was first proposed by Lotfi Zadeh in 1965. Fuzzy logic has currently used in control theory, artificial intelligence systems specially to control complex aircraft engines and control surfaces, helicopter control, messile guidance, automatic transmission, wheel slip control, auto focus cameras and washing machines, railway engines for smoother drive and fuel consumption and many industrial processes. Fuzzy logic provide better results if we compared it with PID controller. Disadvantages of fuzzy control Human knowledge is often incomplete and episodic as compared to systematic way. If the model is not known then it is impossible to achieve the stability of the controller system. Sometime rules are mismatched and non coherent. In complex operation fuzzification and defuzzification take long time. Fuzzy expert systems There are two famous type of system currently used in fuzzy logic Mamdani fuzzy inference Sugeno fuzzy inference 2.2Mamdani fuzzy inference. The most common method is used currently is fuzzy inference system. In 1975, Professor Ebrahim Mamdani of London University introduced first time fuzzy systems to control a steam engine and boiler combination. He applied a set of fuzzy rules experienced human operators. The mamdani system usually done in four
  • 10. Monterroso The Eclipse English II The Eclipse The Eclipse was a very well written short story by Augusto Monterroso. An eclipse Is when an astronomical object temporary overshadows another astronomical object such as the sun that to some creates a dark ominous feeling in the air. In the short story The Eclipse, author Augusto Monterroso uses these symbolic characteristics of an Eclipse to convey how the character Bartolome Arrazola feels when he tries to interact with an undeveloped civilization that also has a dark ominous feeling. This type of astronomical event is a rare sighting for people and happens in lengthy time spans. The irony of the story being so short but still conveying its message in its own mannerism. Also, even though the story is titled Eclipse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He then formulates a plan to where he would deceive the natives based on the perception of ignorance he believed the undeveloped civilization of natives had, so he won t be sacrificed. His plan was to tell the natives that if he was to be sacrificed then he would darken the sun in its height, so he was saying that he would cause an eclipse of the sun. In a way he tried to cast his shadow of knowledge over the native s ignorance like the eclipse of the sun to escape with his life. However, like the shadow of the eclipse over the sun it doesn t last forever and the shadow of knowledge he tried to cast over the native s ignorance didn t last as well and led to his demise. The author then later reveals in the story that the Mayans had already formulated a calendar to when there would be solar and lunar eclipses. The native s overshadowed the developed civilization s charter, Arrazola, ignorance with their knowledge because he would had never guessed that an undeveloped civilization like the Mayans could make such a calendar. That s one of the key points of irony in the story they the author did a splendid job conveying. The undeveloped nation conquers the developed nation character because of his
  • 11. Gender Roles Are Becoming Increasing More Malleable Gender roles in society are becoming increasing more malleable. The younger generation is less inclined to follow the same roles that their parents and grandparents followed. In Disney s Brave, the main character, Merida, is a perfect example of this. She doesn t follow the traditional girly norms that princesses usually reflect, she is wildly defiant toward her mother, especially in regards to her betrothal, and she doesn t even want to be a princess, which is something rarely seen. Merida does not follow the typical gender roles of a princess. She doesn t like dresses, she doesn t want to follow the rules, and she isn t into typical princess things, such as looking nice. When her mother makes her wear a tight fitting dress to the competition for her hand in marriage, she is completely uncomfortable in the restrictive item of clothing. She then rips her dress in order for her to properly shoot her arrows in the competition for her hand. She outshoots all three of her suitors, causing her mother to become furious. Her mother, the queen, is outraged that Merida has brought disrespected to her and the kingdom. Merida does not care about the possible shame she has brought to the kingdom. She will not allow herself to be forced to marry a man that she does not want to. These acts demonstrate her defiance, which is not generally the trait of a princess, unless it is directed towards the father. Merida s defiance is more so directed at everybody. Due to this, she is not one to
  • 12. Patrol Officers Patrol Officers are not assigned a case to try and solve. In most major cities police departments have enough personal to cover every aspect of a crime, however, the role of the patrol officer during investigations has increased. On page 23, in the book, under the patrol officer as an investigator, it mentions that the role of the patrolofficer has been limited, however, as time continues that same role seem to increase. The role of the patrol officer has taken over some of the same responsibilities as the investigators have. Such as providing immediate assistance to victims, locates witness, and interviews both victims and witnesses. Also, the patrol officer has the authority to initiate and complete investigations of certain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It sends a message to the people that they live in a safe place. Which for many people that little bit of reassurance is all they need to be happy. Nobody wants to live in a bad place, or a place they feel is dangerous. Also, with expanding the role of the patrol officer, this is very beneficial with today s economy. I never think you can put a price on protecting the people, but, the sad reality is that in today s economic times, we have to. To hire a new recruit comes a price, it is just easier for the community of the patrol officers to be expected to do more. In most cases these officers want to do more to solve the crimes to put that faith back into the community that crimes will be resolved right away. Right when a crime happens, most people instantly become fearful that it will happen again, so, they become on edge, and question that the police will be able to catch the people that hurt them or robbed them. With crimes being solved right away, that puts the fear at ease and lets them know they are safe and it will not continue to happen. I was reading ahead a tad bit and came across theft that happens in banks,, and how those people are caught the same day. For me, that instantly puts my mind at ease. Years ago, one of the buildings I was working in, there was a theft that happened in the bank downstairs, and every got really nervous
  • 13. Children In Brave New World Analysis In fifty years, how will your great grandchildren act? In today s world children are losing their morals, in the near future we may live in the Brave New World and intentionally disregard of our children. Children grow up too soon, forced into maturity, and get too comfortable with sex when they re too young. Children in the Brave New World don t have mothers or fathers so they are taught to become adults before they are the age of adulthood (Huxley). While the children are only toddlers they are forced to do erotic play , which would be related to simple playing on the playground in today s world, and are taught it is what s right and the wrong thing is to not participate (Huxley 30). By the age of eight children are taken to the hospital
  • 14. Turbine Engines, Brayton Cycle And Thermodynamics Turbine Engines, Brayton Cycle and Thermodynamics I m writing this research paper for my Thermodynamics class with Professor Roh. I have a big interest in turbine gas engines and how they operate. My future goal within mechanical engineering is to learn how to maintain and design turbine gas engines. How do Turbine Gas Engines operate? I read this article at Wartsila website which enlightened me that Gas turbines are comprised of three primary sections mounted on the same shaft: the compressor, the combustor and the turbine. The compressor can be either axial flow or centrifugal flow. Axial flow compressors are more common in power generation because they have higher flow rates and efficiencies. The acceleration of the air through the rotating blades and diffusion by the stators increases the pressure and reduces the volume of the air. Although no heat is added, the compression of the air also causes the temperature to increase. The compressed air is mixed with fuel which ignites under constant pressure conditions and the hot combustion products (gases) are directed through the turbine where it expands rapidly and imparts rotation to the shaft. The turbine is also comprised of stages, each with a row of stationary blades (or nozzles) to direct the expanding gases followed by a row of moving blades. The rotation of the shaft drives the compressor to draw in and compress more air to sustain continuous combustion. The remaining shaft power is used to drive a generator

Total Hip Arthroplasty ( Tha ) Introduction: Total hip arthroplasty (THA), commonly known as hip replacement, is a reconstructive orthopedic procedure that involves the surgical excision of the head and proximal neck of the femur and removal of the acetabular cartilage and subchondral bone(A). The damaged joint is replaced with an implant that mimics the motion of the natural joint and is made from combinations of metal, plastic and/or ceramic components(D). Joint replacement is one of five priority areas targeted for shorter wait times in Canada. Ontario s current wait time is 207 day.(F) The number of THAs in Canada increased 11% between 2006 2007 and 2010 2011. In 2013 2014, there were 49,503 hospitalizations for hip replacements(B). THA has been used to manage conditions in which the hip joint has responded poorly to less invasive treatments(D). The most common of which is severe osteoarthritis of the hip joint, which affects more than 10% of Canadians aged 15 or older(G), and accounts for 70% of cases. The procedure has proved to be remarkably successful in eliminating pain and restoring function in hips severely involved with diseases, improving mobility, daily functioning and quality of life(A,D,G). THA provides pain relief and improves physical function and quality of life in patients with end stage hip osteoarthritis. The incidence of THA is expected to increase due to the growing elderly population. Nevertheless, THA is becoming more common in younger populations because of the improvements in

Brick is one of the flexible product that gain attention from researcher to be incorporated with different type of sludge material such as waste water sludge, water treatment sludge, marble sludge, effluent treatment plants (textile industry) sludgeand arsenic contaminated sludge. 2.1Textile sludge Jahagirdar et al (2013) discussed the reuse of textile mill sludge in burnt clay bricks. Textile mill sludge was mixed together with different proportion (5% to 35%) as the raw material in this study. The brick was fired at 600 to 800ВєC and for 8, 16 and 24hours. Base on the result textile sludge can be added up to 15% as it gives compressive strength above 3.5N/mm2 and the water absorption ratio is less than 20%. According to (Herek et al, 2012) investigated on incorporated the textile laundry sludge into a brick showed that sludge can be incorporate until a concentration of 20% in terms of the mechanical properties. The compressive strength for the brick was 3.73Mpa for the control brick and 4.62Mpa for the sludge brick. For the water absorption result had shown that 15.73% and 10.10% for control brick and sludge brick respectively. Besides, the produces brick are safe according to applied leaching and not exceed to the standard limits. (Baskar et al, 2006) discussed about characterization and reuse of textile effluent treatment plant waste sludge in clay bricks. In this study the
  • 17. Linear Programming in Healthcare Systems Linear Programming in Healthcare Systems: Linear programming is one of the qualitative tools in the decision making process of Operations Research. Similar with the other methods in Operations Research, linear programming consists of a series of mathematical optimization and simulation means and models. Currently, the use of linear programming in providing optimized solutions has helped in lessening costs significantly across medium and large sized organizations in various industrialized countries. As a result, many researchers state that the development of linear programming model is one of the most important scientific developments in the second part of the 20th Century. In the healthcare field, linear programming has proven to be an alternative to various critical aspects such as planning brachytherapy, in which it has replaced the conventional solutions depending on trial and error. Moreover, linear programming method has been used develop balanced diets at lesser costs and adhering to a set of nutritional limitations. Background Information: Hospital malnutrition or problems associated with economics and nutrition in the hospital were identified more than three decades ago though they are still overlooked today. This is because the health facility has not included nutrition screening, evaluation, and intervention measures as part of the medical care. As a result, hospital malnutrition continues to be an unidentified or unrecognized aspect in clinical settings. The

Similarities Between Persia And Greece While reading chapter four, I gathered that Persia and Greece, both countries which flourished at the same time, were both similar in political and social advancements but also had many differences namely, religions and philosophies. Greece was made of many small city states due to the fact their citizens had to move often because they were under pressure from war, the large population and poverty. Alternatively, Persia, a country with much less war, created the largest empire of their time. From the long and eventful time period of 1000 B.C.E. to 30 B.C.E., Iranian and Hellenistic lifestyles and experiences were filled with new ideas. Persia and Greecewere both growing at the same time so many similarities were shared. When it came to the development and interaction of cultures there were similarities of science and technology and the arts and architecture. On the other hand, there were many differences partly due to the fact that they were state of war opposition and did not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Persian philosophy did not occur until well after the Greeks . Ancient Greek philosophy arose in the 6th century B.C.E. and continued throughout the Hellenistic period and the period in which Ancient Greece was part of the Roman Empire. It dealt with a wide variety of subjects, including political philosophy, ethics, metaphysics, ontology, logic, biology, rhetoric, and aesthetics. Greek philosophers were seekers and lovers of wisdom . They studied and analyzed the world around them using logic and reason. Although we often think of philosophy as religion or the meaning of life , the Greek philosophers were also scientists. Many studied mathematics and physics as well. Often the philosophers were teachers of wealthy children. Some of the more famous ones opened their own schools or academies. Some of the most famous Greek philosophers were Socrates, Plato, and
