1. Personal Skills Audit Name:_______________________________________
Skills acquired How did these skills
contribute to the creation of
your product?
How will you develop these
skills during the A2 project?
Digital technology
- What
equipment/software
packages did you use to
produce your
production?
We used software and
equipment such as, Final Cut
Express, Apple Mac Computers
and Livetype. We needed to
have a wide range of
knowledge of how to use these
software’s as the final outcome
would look more professional.
Being able to use Livetype was
very useful and made my end
product look more professional
and real. Final Cut Express
helped me edit my final piece
just the way I wanted to
including all the editing skills I
gained from within the lesson.
After using all of these
software’s/equipment for a
year, I now feel a lot more
confident and I feel like I will be
able to achieve a better grade
next year as I will gain even
more practice with this
equipment in A2.
Post production
- What software did you
use to create your
production?
- Discuss specific features
of the software.
We used Final Cut Express to
create our product. Needed a
good knowledge of how to use
Final Cut Express.
We were able to edit our end
product in a professional way
as we learnt all the type shots
in class and therefore we were
able to adopt this knowledge in
to our end product.
Feeling more confident with
Final Cut Express will definitely
help boost my grade as I will be
feeling more confident to try
new things.
2. Research and Planning
- What tasks did you
complete when
preparing to film your
sequence?
- How did your planning
help the smooth
progression of your film?
Organization and an easy plan
to follow.
We had a straight forward plan
on how we were going to make
our end product and by being
organized with it, it made it
easier for the group to come
together to create a successful
end product.
Clear step by step organized
plan to help smooth
progression for end result.
Using conventions of real
media texts
- Which texts did you
analyse?
- Did you take any
inspiration from the
conventions found from
your research?
Blumhouse Productions. Me and my group used
‘Blumhouse Productions’ at the
beginning of our film. Using this
convention of a real media
production company helped
make our film look more
realistic. Blumhouse
productions produce horror
films so we felt that going with
this production would math
perfectly.
Researching the specific genre
I want to do in my end product
and see if they share
conventions of real media work.
This will make my end product
look more real.
Creativity
- were our ideas for your
portfolio imaginative and unique
or did you adhere to
conventions?
After researching we found out
that people prefer horror
movies in which are more
realistic such as stalkers and
murderers.
We decided to stick with this
theme as it was what the
audience wanted more. We
also felt that we could get a
better grade doing a more
realistic horror as we ourselves
could be in the film.
Research what audiences like
about the specific genre I have
chosen. Take that information
but twist it in your own way so
it’s different to what else is out
there.
