1. Personal Skills Audit
Name: Aidan Bell_______________________________________
Skills acquired
How did these skills
contribute to the creation of
your product?
How will you develop these
skills during the A2 project?
Digital technology
- What
equipment/software
packages did you use to
produce your
production?
We used an array of equipment
in the creation of our previous
products such as video
cameras, “normal” cameras,
tripods, Photoshop, garage
band, Apple Macs, Microsoft
office’s various programs.
The use and skills to use all of
these pieces of equipment and
programs allowed us to create
a better piece of work than what
would have been made without
the ability or access to
something’s like Tripods.
I will most likely learn to use a
wider variety of programs and
hardware in the creation of my
work in the A2 section of this
course and this will improve my
work even more.
Post production
- What software did you
use to create your
production?
- Discuss specific features
of the software.
Photoshop, final Cut and IMovie
are some examples of software
that I used in the creation of my
work last year particularly the
Cut tool to make our movie
seem more flowing and
coherent.
The wide array of tools and
features available to us offered
by the programs we used
allowed us to create more
impressive products by being
able to iron our and problems
that occurred in the footage.
I have no doubt that the skills I
have learned to fix problems
with our footage will be put to
great use in the near and far
future throughout all of my
upcoming products…
2. Research and Planning
- What tasks did you
complete when
preparing to film your
sequence?
- How did your planning
help the smooth
progression of your film?
Using conventions of real
media texts
- Which texts did you
analyze?
- Did you take any
inspiration from the
conventions found from
your research?
Creativity
- Were your ideas for your
portfolio imaginative and unique
or did you adhere to
conventions?
Recce shots, location scouting,
actor interviews and equipment
testing were all integral parts of
the practical side of our movie,
and things like these made the
creation of the film much easier
as we knew where to film and
what actors where going to be
in it.
Al the members of our group
did earlier tasks where we
analyzed the opening five
minutes of a movie or
deconstructed a title sequence,
doing these things helped when
we made our own as we have a
good idea of what a
professional example looked
like.
These practical planning
aspects allowed us to create a
more cohesive film, it mostly
helped us in the creation rather
than the film in any visible
sense.
All of the skills I have used in
the last project will no doubt be
put to use on the next project
we do because of the similarity
in the creation aspects.
These previous familiarizations
with title sequences and the
movies of our chosen Genre
helped a great deal in trying to
convey the same mood in our
project.
I’m sure that we will be doing
tasks in the future that are
related to the earlier tasks but
going into more detail to help
with the creation of this years
production.
Yes, I feel that I made a
interesting and innovative
portfolio that challenged some
of the conventions of the genre
we chose but also adhered to
the best parts of the genre
I feel that the ideas that drove
me to make a good innovative
portfolio.
I hope to improve the sills in A2
to help me make my next
project as best I possibly can.
