equipment/software
packages did you use to
produce your
production?
For our AS project, we used a
range of equipment and
software. Some of which, were;
IMovie, Final Cut, Photoshop,
Slide share, Time Toast,
Wordle, Prezi and cameras
(Video cameras). All of these
packages and programs
required a range of skills, from
basic typing and creating links,
to editing and synchronizing
sound.
The programs such as Final
Cut an IMovie helped me to
create a professional video and
final edit, whilst the programs
such as Time Toast, Wordle
and Prezi helped me to create a
professional blog.
These skills will be developed in
my A2 project due to the fact I
have a lot more knowledge
about each of the programs and
software. This will allow me to
use the appropriate programs
which will show my work at its
full potential. I also think my
skills will develop as I use a
range of new programs which
will also help show my work at
its full potential.
Post production

Our main post production task,
which used a range of different
media software and packages,
was our evaluation. This task
used a range of programs from
Prezi and Final Cut to green
screen software. Other post
production tasks included us
using programs such as Wix,
Sound cloud. These programs
required more skills such as

that would help us analyse our
work in the best way possible.
The green screen also helped
us to combine clips from
different parts of our research
and planning with our
evaluation. This helped make
our work look professional and
helped create a realistic blog.
In A2 I hope to use the green
screen again, as I thought that
this was a good program to use,
especially when evaluating the
project. The best feature was
combining different clips. I also
want to use other programs
more effectively during post
production tasks and I believe
that the skills I need to do this
will develop as the A2 project

Research and Planning
- What tasks did you
complete when
preparing to film your
sequence?
- How did your planning
help the smooth
progression of your film?
When researching and planning
our film sequence, over 27
tasks had to be created. Some
of these tasks included;
Researching conventions,
creating scripts and storyboards
and looking at previous film
opening to analyse opening
sequences etc.
These tasks really contributed
to the AS project as it made the
whole process a lot easier. This
was because the whole group
knew exactly what we were
aiming to achieve and we all
had the same end goal. The
research and planning helped
us achieve this goal.
After learning the value of
planning and research from the
AS project, I believe that good
planning and research is
essential to the success of the
final product. I therefore know
that I need to put a lot of effort
into the early research and
planning stages, in order to
make the final tasks easier.
Using conventions of real
media texts
- Which texts did you
analyse?
- Did you take any
inspiration from the
conventions found from
your research?
For the main part of our
research we used media texts,
such as films. This helped us to
analyse the conventions that
were common in each films. For
instance our project was based
on film noir so our main
conventions were violence,
corrupted cops and thugs.
The inspiration we took from
these conventions really helped
us as a group. Once we had a
clear list of all of the main
conventions and had gathered
all of our other necessary
research, we then knew that
planning would be easy. The
conventions created guidelines
for our storyline to follow, which
then helped the planning and
also helped our story follow the
conventions.
For this A2 music video project,
I think I will develop my skills by
researching as many music
videos as possible. I will then
list all conventions and use as
many of these conventions as
possible throughout the video.
Just in my AS project I believe
that a clear outline of main
conventions will help me guide
my research and planning to
create a realistic music video,
which will follow the genre.
