How did you use media
technologies in the
construction and
research, planning and
evaluation stages?
RESEARCH

YouTube- used to look at other music videos- this way we were
able to come up with our own ideas according to themes of
songs- professional videos showed us what looked good and
what worked and what we needed to avoid- by just searching
songs that were similar to our chosen song we were able to
research what went well with this type of song avoiding
anything that belonged to any other theme.
Google search engine- google images- this was useful in
searching images of print products- we were able to find print
products that appealed to what we wanted to do without own
print products. This included Adele, Rihanna and Delilah’s
albums. This search engine was also useful in finding the
lyrics of the song we had chosen ‘insecure’. This allowed us
to analyse each verse of the song which we broke down to
understand what the song portrayed. This as a result helped
us plan out exactly what scenes and shot types were going to
be used in our music video in each of the song verses. This
search engine also helped us find exact measurements of a
CD digipack that we later used for a more professional
finished product
RESEARCH

Blogger was useful in looking at parts of other people’s
finished coursework from last year to influence our
own. This included looking at things that worked very
well for their work so that we could take these ideas
on board and also included looking at things that did
not particularly work or wouldn't work for our own
products so that we were able to avoid these.
Cameras- this was essential when obtaining audience
feedback throughout the processes of designing and
creating our products. We were able gain information
about what the audience liked about our products and
what they didn’t like so that we could change and
improve things for our audience’s satisfaction.
PLANNING

Microsoft word- This was used in many occasions during our
planning. We used i to paste the lyrics of our song in.
From this we were able to separate each of the verses of
the song and by analysing each line and what it meant.
From this we were able to distinguish what should go in
each of the scenes of our music video. Microsoft word was
also useful in planning out what what was going to happen
in photoshoots and what needed to be complete in those
photoshoots.
Mobile phones- using mobile phone apps such as bbm and
Whatsapp, we were able to communicate with each other
by sending each other free instant messages. This was
important at the planning stage of our work as we were
able to set dates and times of when and where we needed
to meet up to produce our music video and print products.
It was also useful in communicating any problems that we
had as we were able to discuss solutions on group chats
created on Whatsapp.
CONSTRUCTION

DSLR Canon cameras- this was provided by the college
and was important for our main product (music video).
We were able to experiment with the focus of the
camera and were able to succeed shots like the male in
our video in the playstation scene being in focus, and
the female walking in behind him being out of focus and
gaining focus as she approaches the male to confront
him.
Final-Cut Pro- this is an editing software where we were
able to add to our video reversing effects, video
transitions and add the actual audio of the song we’d
chosen itself. We were also able to sort out what shots
we were using and what shots did not fit into the overall
product
Photo-shop- this software was used in the process of
making our ancillary products. We used the rulers to
measure out borders of our products so that everything
else fitted professionally within the available space. It
also allowed us to place the text on the products with a
variety of font choices. When some o our images were
too dark or were a color that was not consistent to the
other products, we were able to change and adapt the
image by using auto-color and changing the brightness
of the image so that it became consistent with our other
media products.
Google search engine- this was used to search logos of
Delilah’s record labels which were Warner Music Group
and Atlantic records which were then placed on the back
EVALUATION

Facebook- Here i was able to post the final music video and
gain audience feedback for it. In doing so i was then able to
analyse this feedback for my evaluation. I picked out on
good things and negative things the audience said about the
product and concluded what i would do different in the future
if i was do to another product like this one.
Microsoft word- this allowed me to complete drafts of my
evaluation where I had the time to go back to it 3-4 times to
improve on it according to what my teacher told me to
improve on. This was easily done and was very effective as
after all i needed to do when I had completed the solid
evaluation was copy and paste it onto creative media such
as Prezi and SlideShare.
Powerpoint and SlideShare- Powerpoint was used to answer
some questions of my evaluation. It allowed me to be
creative with my evaluation by having slides and playing
with font colours, layouts and imagery. The powerpoint
presentations were then uploaded onto the online software
SlideShare so that it was accessible from Blogger.
Prezi- This was another online software used to answer one of
my evaluation questions. I chose a creative template which
allowed me to add images arrows and text combined which
created a visibly attractive analysys of my evaluation.
WIX- this is an online software where i was able to create my
own website with its available templates. I answered
questions of my evaluations on this software with navigation
bars that contained different sections of the questions which
leads the viewer to them when clicked on
