Non-conformity in The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With the...
Non conformity in The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With the Sea, Medea, and The Stranger
We are constantly being affected our surroundings. As a result, our attitudes and personalities are a
product of our experiences and the various environments in which they occurred . Furthermore, the
society we live in presents to us a set of standards, values, and givens that we may or may not
agree with. In literature, the society plays a major role in affecting the characters thoughts and
actions. In The Sailor who Fell From Grace with the Sea, The Stranger, and Medea , the characters
are affected by their society, and their actions reflect their conformity (or non conformity) to it.
Ultimately, non conformity in these works create the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His character expressed an indifferent view of the universe, with a tasteless, emotionless approach
to everyday tasks. Being indifferent, he cared for nothing and no one, thus being a potential threat
to society, if anything. If anything is high on the list of criteria for being a non conformist , it s
being a potential threat to society!
In Euripides Medea , the characters live in a mythological society, which for the most part
reflected the ideas and values of ancient Greece, with the exceptions of Gods and Goddesses.
Since witches have always been a symbol of evil and mischief, it is assumed that Medea, a witch,
does not conform with the society she exists in. Besides that fact, Medea takes place in Greece
while Medea herself comes from a distant land, considered savage by Greek standards. With that
burden, she fills no other role than non conformist, and the position inspires her actions which make
Medea into a tragedy.
The non conformists in these works all seem to defy society to the point of a common
act(murder), with the exception of Fusako, whose actions and lifestyle play a role of indirectly
inspiring the act while not committing the act herself. In this perspective her function as non
conformist is less significant than the others . The widowed mother of Noboru, Fusako has
adapted to many western ways. In her room are shiny brass beds from New Orleans and European
perfumes like eau de Cologne (Mishima 4 5).

Ellis Hall Active Learning Classroom
The methods I have found most effective are: active learning, practice and overlearning, and
distance learning. There were several research studies that demonstrated the positive impact active
learning can have upon students. One outcome is increased content knowledge, critical thinking
and problem solving abilities, and positive attitudes towards learningin comparison to traditional
lecture based delivery. However, it also can increase enthusiasm for learning in both students and
instructors. Then, there is the improving students perceptions and attitudes towards information
literacy ( Ellis Hall Active Learning Classrooms Project. ). Therefore, professors always encourage
students to take notes or outline reading assignments, talk to others about the material, and write
and rewrite key concepts rather than just read the material repeatedly (Levy p.228). Now, practice
and overlearning, the book says, practice makes perfect. Although true perfection is rarely... Show

I remember him talking about himself, his wife, and the animals he had. He would insert short
stories and videos that would help us remember the information better. In other course, I took

She would also show us videos that would help and there were always ways to get extra credit.
Another reason I remember her is because some of the extra credit that was writing letters to all
soldiers. The letters we wrote went to them, some were thanking letters, some were wishing them
blessed holidays, and some were just to talk to them, so they felt they were not treasured, when in
fact they are. When I am with my family they always ask me questions about animals and
psychology questions and I know I can answer them with the knowledge that I have gained from
these professors as well as the ones I have now and in the

Propaganda During WWI
Propaganda is information, ideas, or rumors made and compelled to change the way to are
thinking about a certain subject, usually a political subject. Propaganda usually does not tell the
truth about other countries strategy in war and what they are doing right and what they are
doing wrong. Propaganda was used mainly during WWII and WWI to promote nationalism in
countries. This idea was extremely effective, and very well could have started WWII.
Propaganda Techniques There were hundreds of types of propaganda, but we are only going to
scratch the surface. One of the big ones was called demonization, which is when a writer or
reporter makes a leader or an international power look like a bad

Submissiveness In Alice Walker s Everyday Use
In the rural part of the South, Mother Johnson and daughter, Maggie, lives very undemanding,
old fashioned lives. Dee, Maggie s sister, lives luxuriously for the time: received an education
and has a significant other. As they wait for Dee on the porch, Maggie is nervous to see her
sister, as Dee was smiling when their previous house was burning down with Maggie in there for
a short time. They finally arrive, had lunch and Dee started rummaging through old keepsakes, in
which she was never was interested until now. She asks for some old quilts that were going to be
given to maggie when she married, but after Mother Johnson told her to whom they were going
originally. Dee shouts saying, Maggie would be backward enough to put them to everyday use, at

One reason she willing to give up one of her most valued possessions to make Dee less
aggressive with her mother. The most evident piece information that supports her
submissiveness is when Maggie said dee could have the blankets without any retaliation after
hearing all the negative comments that Dee said about her. Maggie can t appreciate theses
quilts, she said. She d probably be backward enough to put them to everyday use. ...... She can
have them, Momma, I can member grandmaDee without them . Another reason Maggie is so
willing is because she s scared of Dee; of what she is capable. Dee comes back to the house for
no apparent reason asking for a bunch of old stuff that she called old and outfit style, ultimately
just to get things with which she intends to make an art project. And dee watched their previous
house go up in flames with a smile on her face while maggie was in the burning house I see her

The Cathedral By Raymond Carver
Cathedral written by Raymond Carver is a short story that unfolds as a first person narrative of
the main character named Bub. The story beautifully depicts the process of an individual who
transforms from a person with lack of knowledge and ignorant towards knowledgeable soul, due
to an encounter with his wife s blind friend Robert, to an individual that is enlightened. The
cathedral, in this story, is a mere subject brought up at the end of this story which becomes the
object of his enlightenment. Cathedral, tells a tale of Bub who through a blind man receives an
eye opening experience. The narrator starts off as intolerable, but towards the end of the story, with
the assistance of a blind man makes him open minded. He is clobbered... Show more content on

I got up off the sofa with my drink and went to the window to have a look (pg. 5). From the
narrator s consumption of alcohol it helped slowly lower the walls that he had up blocking him to
allow Robert into his space.
Another indication that shows the narrator was hit hard was when he began to realized that what
he read in papers weren t always true. I remember I read somewhere that the blind didn t smoke...
they couldn t see the smoke they exhale... But this blind man smoked his cigarette down to the
nubbin and then lit another one (pg. 6). This moment allowed for the narrator to see that what he
has read isn t always the truth, and that was shown when Robert proved the narrator s preconceived
notations wrong.
The narrator s presumptions led to him being clobbered and irony played a role in the process. Bub
felt that Robert s blindness hindered him from his daily activities such as eating, The blind man
had right away located his foods, he knew just where everything was on his plate. I watched with
admiration as he used his knife and fork on the meat (pg. 7). The narrator was astonished, he didn t
expect Robert to be able to locate the food on his plate nor did he expect him to find and use the
eating utensils with ease. Another example of irony was when the narrator went to turn on the
television and his wife felt he was vainly disrespectful towards Robert. The narrator s wife believed
that since Robert was blind, he wouldn t have a television set. She

Case Study on Ethics and Dual Relationships in Social Work...
Ethics Case Study: Juan S.
The social worker in this case study worked at the ABC Children s Wellness Center. An ESL
teacher at a local elementary school referred Juan S. to her. Juan came to the center with his mother,
Silvia.
Before seeing Juan and his mother, the social worker called the ESL teacher who referred Juan to
her to discuss the case. The teacher reported that Juan was showing little interest in classroom
activities or his peers, and always seemed exhausted. He was irritable and frequently became
physically aggressive toward classmates who made fun of him for being so small and thin
(sometimes calling him mosquito ). She also stated that he often appeared to be daydreaming, and

Juan was present during that shooting, and barely escaped with his own life. Silvia then made
the decision to take her remaining two children to America, and contacted her cousin who lived
in Brownsville, TX to help her slip across the border. The cousin was able get someone to
smuggle Silvia, Jaime and Juan across the border at the cost of $10,000. They crossed the border
on foot and were met by someone who hid them under the hay placed in the feeding troughs of a
cattle truck. They were left there for two days without food or water in 98 degree weather while
the truck made its way to the Texas Arkansas border. There they were picked up by her cousin
who placed them on a bus to W. Palm Beach Fl where another cousin lived. Silvia must now pay
back the $10,000 she owes her cousin.
The mother indicated that the family was having great difficulty financially because, without
papers, Silvia and Jaime were having trouble finding jobs, and Silvia was afraid to apply for
public assistance. She had recently obtained a job as a housekeeper and nanny for a wealthy
family with 3 young children. The family, however, did not pay her each week as promised, and
when they did pay her, they sometimes paid less than the agreed amount. Sylvia was afraid to
complain because she feared the family might turn her in to the immigration authorities. She was
searching for other work but had not found anything. Jaime worked as

The Texas Attorney General s Office
This proposal will detail the following items: (1) the goals of the Texas attorney general s office
and my responsibilities in the particular position; (2) my perceived personal and professional
benefit from serving at the Texas attorney general s office; and (3) my distinct personal and
professional qualities and prior public service that distinguishes me from my fellow colleagues .
The Attorney General of Texas is a position charged to uphold Texas law and the Texas
Constitution; represent the State in litigation; and approve public bond issues. However, the
fundamental goal of the office is to guard the rights of Texans through various divisions of the
agencies. These divisions are responsible for consumer health, safety, and regulations, as well as,
protection of elderly and disabled individual rights. As a summer law clerk at the attorney general
s office I will conduct legal research and draft memoranda under the supervision of an agency
attorney. My first choice with the agency is the criminal prosecutions division. In the event I am
placed in that division I may have the opportunity to assist in discovery and attend hearings or
trials. However, I also asked to be placed in the following divisions: consumer protection,
administrative, and general litigation. Through the different responsibilities I will likely be tasked
with, there are multiple professional benefits. For example, I will have the opportunity to practice,

For this week reading, I had the pleasure to read from the authors Karl Popper, Edward O.
Wilson, and Vandana Shiva. Karl Popper, philosopher and author of Science as Falsification,
believed the scientific method was made to seem quite easy to be placed yet mistaken due to
claims of palm reading or astrology making a status in the field of science. Karl Popper says, There
was a lot of popular nonsense talked about these theories, and especially about relativity (as still
happens even today)... (Popper 338). People don t really question the field of science and theories
that are being stated. People go along with what is being stated and not question the theories. A

Mending Wall By Robert Frost
On the other hand, interpretative strategies refer to those activities that will help the students to
develop their ability to unravel meanings and improve their critical approach to the literary text.
Some literary theorists argue that interpretation only takes place when the reader has developed
more influence on his/her construction of meaning from a text (Schade, 2002). Consequently,
through the interpretative activities, the student will be able to (Beach, Appleman, Fecho, Simon,
2017):
пѓјIdentify their personal emotions to those met in the different characters of the text;
пѓјUnderstand the characters actions in the social and cultural context for example for Macbeth at

A second reading may be required for better understanding due to the length of the poem and the
medium level of technicity. By the end, some minutes are provided to the student to immerse
themselves in visual and vivid aspect of Frost s poem. The teacher asks the students for their
reaction. This should lead to the prominent item of the poem which is the wall and the fence and
the way the poem consists of two contrasting ideas with something there that doesn t love a wall
and good fences make good neighbours . In this respect, the class is divided into two groups with
those who are for and against the contrasting ideas. Time is allocated for each group to find words
/sentence in the poem which may support these ideas. Sentence such as my apple tree will never
get across can be used as arguments for good fences make good friends . Associative words
identified during the warm up exercise can be used to back each group arguments. A small debate
could be undertaken between the main representatives of each ideas with the teacher acting as
moderator. This activity will contribute to the understating of the dual concepts and the nuances
that exists in the

Tragic Events in The novel Montana 1948 by Larry Watson...
Many of life s experience colour the way we look at ourselves and society in which we live. The
novel Montana 1948 by Larry Watson is indeed all about the tragic event of David Hayden s
twelfth summer, which irrevocably changed him. These events help us understand the idea of
coming of age and how childhood experiences change us and affect how we define ourselves as
adults.
Montana 1948 is set in a small country town in Mercer County, Montana called Bentrock. The story
is about a young boy David Hayden who couldn t be happier.вњ” But one afternoon when David
eavesdropped on his parents, his life changed forever. He tells us in the prologue that, From the
summer of my twelfth year I carry a series of images more vivid and lasting than any ... Show more

This scene epitomises this style of writing and the frustrations that David feels for the entirety of
the text.
As at the beginning David was a young boy who is like any other kid in 1948. He likes to play
outside with his friends, ride horses, he preferred the wilderness of the country compared to the
rules enforced by people in town. He doesn t have a care in the world as any twelve year old should.
He thought that he had more status with his parents than he did but finds out that his Uncle
molested Indian girls and possibly his beloved Marie. He wanted to be included in the events
that was going on around him. He wanted to know what the adults were talking about. Every
single detail. I think that kids like David want to know what is happening and I think its quite a
bad idea because they pick up things they probably shouldn t and as they grow older they find out
that it isn t actually a good idea. So David eavesdrops on the conversation and he wants to know
what s happening. He wants to have adult status within his parents But the one time he did listen
to what his parents were talking about even though he wasn t supposed to know changed him for
ever. He says, I would never have heard the conversation between my father and mother, and
perhaps I would have lived out my life with an illusion about my about my family and perhaps.
This is true because the conversation between Gail and Wesley was

sustainability (Goldie, Douglas, and Furnass 2005), highlighting the highly interdependent, often
contradictory, relationship of the three elements of sustainability: society, environment and
economy. Figure one exemplifies this relationship (Maryland 2007). This means the more

Danny Chivers. He is a climate change researcher, activist, carbon footprint analyst and
performance poet. He is an activate advocate request to support the climate change situation

paying more attention to the environment. He is an example of one of the recent debates that affect
sustainability education. He is the author of the all new No Nonsense Guide to Climate Change,

Structural Vulnerabilities And Link Privacy
Structural vulnerabilities and Link Privacy in Social Networks
Introduction/Background:
In social networks, a link represents a relationship between two nodes in the network. These links
can represent email conversations, web surfing, co purchases of two or more products (e.g.
Amazon), friendships (e.g. Facebook), followers (e.g. Twitter), etc. Often times these relationships
are sensitive and/or confidential in nature [ying wu] and the users are operating under the
assumption that their private relationships will not be disclosed.
In recent years the amount of data accumulated from social networks has become very large, and
there is a lot of valuable information to gain from analyzing and applying data mining to social
network data. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Results:
Neighborhood Randomization Using Sub Graph Perturbation
In order for people to mine valuable data from social network graphs they must first be given
information about the network. Even without explicit information about the nodes, an attacker
may use structural information about the nodes and graph itself (e.g. node degree) to identify
who the individuals are that the nodes represent. Simple graph wise randomization addresses this
problem by deleting k randomly chosen edges and replacing them with k randomly chosen edges,
however a problem arises since data miners depend on these structural attributes to properly
analyze the social network. Fard and Wang [fard wang] propose a structure aware algorithm for
the randomization of social network edges as well as a formal definition of link privacy with
respect to a probabilistic threshold. Their motivation is to help conceal sensitive links by using
randomization techniques, without disturbing the actual structure of the graph, which is achieved
through local neighborhood perturbation. This is needed so that graphs can be analyzed without
the link structure being left entirely vulnerable to attackers. The goal of their algorithm is to make
it so that an adversary cannot know if a link in the original graph exists from having a link in the
new graph.

The Creators Of Salt Of The Earth
The creators of Salt of the Earth had a consciousness of radical activism (Aptheker 2015). Paul
Jarrico, Michael Wilson, and Herbert J. Biberman made connections between the Cold War anti
union sentiment and what was happening in the lives of the community at Hanover, New Mexico
(Balthasar 353). Salt fuses the antiracist, anti imperialist sensibility...with the central popular front
icon and narrative form the strike tale. In this sense Salt is not simply an expansion of a 1930s
political aesthetic; it is the fulfillment of it (Balthasar 356). This included thinking about how
different forms of oppression impact people. Their final film implicitly critiques the United States
imperialist policies and treatment of minority groups (Balthasar 355), a dangerous move in the
era of high tensions due to the red scare. This, along with affiliations with the Hollywood Anti
Nazi League (HANL) made them targets of the United States government (Balthasar 354). Their
careers had been destroyed, since no one wanted to make themselves a target of the U.S. by being
friendly with people that were accused of being communists, and their film was blacklisted. The
leading actress, Rosaura Revualtas, who had already radically starred in what is recognized as the
first lesbian film (Aptheker), also faced punishment for starring in Salt. Though she was here
legally, participation in the film was grounds for her deportation. Furthermore, she was banned from
acting in Mexico (Aptheker). Clint

Analytical Essay On The Shawl
In the book The Shawl, a family of three are trying to survive the Holocaust, but have to get have to
get through hardship, betrayal, and loss. The author use of the characterization helped setup the
tone of the story by putting the struggles the small family have gone through.
The setting of the story affected the characters. They have been so brutalized that they are hardly
recognizable as human. (May Charles E.) The way how they were brutalized depicts how they
are going to be treated throughout the story. This already sets how the feeling for each of the
characters, since they are treated differently. She is so close to death from starvation and exposure
that she can think of no one but herself. (May Charles E.) Stella became cold hearted and didn t
care for anybody needs, but hers only. She was broken with no emotion left show. This lets off
something that the setting can make a person not care for anybody but oneself. A Nazi guard
throws Magda into an electrified fence. She dies instantly. (May Charles E.) Even though Magda
was only an infant, the guards could care less about what they are since they are Jews. This show
how humans can kill each other without a thought of what they are killing. With the three main
characters being Jews, which is one of many that suffered in the Holocaust, they suffered for not
being Aryan.
As the story progressed, the story had many tones that can be interpreted. Rosa even suspects that
Stella might devour the infant or that

Deborah Tannen Sex Lies And Conversation
Sex, Lies and Conversation Compares the Way We Communicate In Sex, Lies and Conversation:
Why Is It So Hard for Men and Women to Talk to Each Other? By Deborah Tannen a professor
linguistics at Georgetown University, who has also published many books on the subject of cross
cultural communication. In the article Sex, Lies and Conversation she attempts to describe how
men and women communicate differently, and how the way men and women communicate can
cause problems in relationships. First, Tannen discusses the different back grounds men and women
come from as children. Tannen states, these systematic differences in childhood socialization make
talk between women and men like cross cultural communication, heir to all the attraction and
pitfalls of that enticing but difficult enterprise (Tannen 382). In this quote she is referring to the
way Boys and girls tend to play with children of their own gender, and their sex separate groups
have different organizational structures and interactive norms (Tannen 382). Due to these separate
groups children grow up with different communication skills.... Show more content on

Men who expect silent attention interpret a stream of listener noise as overreaction or impatience.
Also, when women talk to each other in a close, comfortable setting, they often overlap, finish each
other s sentences and anticipate what the other is about to say (Tannen 384). She says men perceive
listening noises as interruption, and women who receive no listening noises perceive this as being
ignored. Tannen also says, men see their conversational duty as pointing out the other side of the
argument (Tannen 384). While women talk to each other, they assume a conversationalist s job is
to express agreement and support (Tannen 384). These differences in communication between
women and men can cause a gap in

Working With Children And Families
Social work is a career that I have always been interested in, especially working with children and

rewarding and yet a challenging career. I ll have the chance to meet a variety of different people
with different problems from cases of abuse and neglect as well as supporting those in the care
system. I am particularly interested in working with children and families who often form the
most vulnerable service users, developing a professional and trusting relationship with them,
hopefully enabling them to participate fully in society. There are many different type of social
workers and what they do. Child and Family social workers protect vulnerable children and
support families in need of assistance. Assess client s needs, strengths, and support network to

crisis situations such as child abuse. Advocate for and help clients get resource that would improve
their well being. Follow up with clients to ensure that their situations have improved. Clinical social

Meningitis Essay
In nineteenth century Geneva, a family came down with a strange disease one that had never
previously been diagnosed. In a short time, many people in their town were infected and thirty
three people were left dead. This strange disease was later determined to be meningitis. In 1806, the
United States saw its first outbreak of meningitisin Massachusetts. It was not until 1887, however,
that Professor Anton Weichselbaum was able to determine a cause of meningitis: a bacterium
called Neisseria meningitides. Penicillin was first used to combat meningitis in 1944, and in 1978,
a vaccine became available. The usage of vaccines was detrimental in the battle to gain control over

Nesseria meningitides can be part of the normal flora of the upper part of the respiratory tract
(19). It is a pathenogenic, gram negative aerobe, which resides primarily in mucous membranes.
The shape of the bacterium is diplococci (11). Nesseria meningitides is heterotrophic and
reproduces by way of binary fission (12).
Viral meningitis is more common, but not nearly as severe (8). It is hardly ever fatal and mostly
caused by enteroviruses. Other viruses can induce a person to contract viral meningitis. These
include: mumps, herpes, measles, and varicella zoster. Even an infection from a mosquito bite
could potentially turn into a case of viral meningitis (4)! Fungal meningitis, which can also be
deadly, is mostly caused by Cryptococcus and Candida. The people affected with fungal meningitis
are mostly those who have an inadequate immune system (3). A person may not know he or she has
meningitis right away. Many symptoms are analogous to the flu. These symptoms include a stiff
neck, headache, fever, chills, nausea, light sensitivity, and possible changes in mental state (8).
Even after a person recovers from meningitis, they can still suffer from long term effects such as
brain damage, kidney damage, loss of hearing, amputations, and scarring (6). To accurately diagnose
meningitis, a lumbar puncture, or spinal tap, is performed and tests are run on the cerebrospinal fluid

What Is Jaw Clicking Essay
Jaw Clicking and Pain: Not A Okay
What do talking, laughing, eating and yawning have in common? They are all activities that
involve opening and closing the mouth. Most people take these activities for granted they are part
of everyday life, after all. We do these activities day in and day out, so what s the big deal?
People who suffer from a clicking jaw that is sometimes accompanied by pain know exactly what
the deal is, because they cannot enjoy the above mentioned activities without hearing their jaw
click, pop or even crack. And it gets worse, no thanks to the pain.
Is this normal?
Jaw clicking can be bothersome, but some individuals have learned to live with their condition.
If you are experiencing jaw clicking, we strongly urge you to consult your dentist, especially if
you feel pain. No matter how much you have adjusted (if you have adjusted at all) to the never
ending cracking and popping sound ever single time you open (and close) your mouth, jaw
clicking is never normal. In fact, jaw clicking is a symptom of a problem with the joints of the jaw
or TMJ.
The TMJ
TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint, of which every person has a pair. These joints serve as a
connection between the temporal bones (located at the bottom and the side of the skull) and the

muscles contain sensory nerves, which deliver messages to the brain; if you experience pain in

chewing. These muscles are located between the gums and the teeth, and are responsible for the
opening and closing of the mouth. Because they are used very often, they can experience fatigue,
especially if the person tends to clench his jaw, grind his teeth or chew excessively (gum chewing,

required to simply identify Satan. As stated earlier, the wise angels were not able to discover the
true identity of Satan. Eve is, therefore, destined to do the same. Although the narrator of the poem
and God never discuss the true nature of Eve, Adam perceives her as a beautiful but inferior in the
mind/and inward faculties (Paradise Lost, 7.541 542). Regardless of her true nature, it is clear that
both Adam and Evedo not possess the equivalent amount of knowledge as the angels. After Raphael
relates the story of Satans rebellion, Adam with his consorted Eve... was fill d/With...deep Muse to

The conversation led the two to have thoughts that they would never have had otherwise. But,
interestingly, Adam and Eve gain more than just new thoughts, they also gain Muse. Muse goes a
step beyond simple thoughts, suggesting profound meditation (OED). In other words, they
become entranced by the new knowledge that they received; knowledge that was not available to
them beforehand. Yet, the word Muse has another meaning that further complicates the
impression of ignorance for Eve. A muse is also each of the nine goddesses regarded as presiding
over and inspiring learning (OED). Firstly, by referring to goddesses the term introduces a
feminine connotation. This term, therefore, relates more to Eve than it does to Adam, regardless
of the fact that both are present when Raphael delivers his message. According to the meaning of
this term, Eve not only learns, but she instigates learning. She not only seeks knowledge, but she
also advocates gaining it. Eve is, therefore, not ignorant nor does she seek ignorance. Instead, she
is left dumbfounded by the knowledge she receives and she desires to seek

Jennifer Patico
In Consumption and Social Changes in a Post Soviet Middle Class, Jennifer Patico explores the
impact of market consumerism on the social position of public school teachers in post Soviet
Russia. Living in St. Petersburg during the financial crisis of 1989 1990, Patico describes how her
informants struggled to reconcile their perceived moral value as educators with their declining
material wealth. Patico defines this logic of value as how people in a marketizing society interpret
and construct the interrelationships between materiality and morality; between wealth and social
standing; and between resources and respect (Patico, 8). From this definition, Patico investigates
how teachers in St. Petersburg constructed their own conception of... Show more content on

Patico cites Anthony Jones who describes the social position of teachers in the 1980s: Although
teachers have fairly low status within the intelligentsia, their membership still conveys high status
in the general occupational structure (Patico, 63). In the Soviet system, occupation determined
both social class and access to resources; however, the sudden introduction of capitalism and
market consumerism shifted this standard: A previous logic of value one that associated
professional achievement with material privileges was being challenged (Patico, 52). Experiencing
downward financial and social status, teachers constructed a new logic of value with an emphasis
on morality and culture. Patico suggests that important characteristics of this emerging logic of
value manifested themselves in consumer choices. She describes her informants: They did not see
themselves as naive victims of marketization...They wished to master all this knowledge and
tended to find it important to be well informed consumers and to maintain dignified, cultured
lifestyles (Patico, 61). Given rapid economic changes which threatened to dilute their social
position, teachers grasped onto their status as knowledgeable and cultured intelligentsia. In her
article Tracing Landscapes of the Past in Class Subjectivity Michele Rivkin Fish describes this
process: Groups who aspired to distinction and recognition could still deploy symbolic markers of
prestige. (Rivkin Fish, 89). Defining morals and culture as such symbolic markers of prestige, a

Essay about Proverbs in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
In the novel, Things Fall Apart , by Chinua Achebe, proverbs have an important impact on the
storyline. All proverbs have some kind of deeper meaning behind them, and this is part of the
Nigerian culture. Proverbs are used by people of all ages and statures to tell others about the
importance of something. People in the Igbo Tribe use proverbs everyday as they are an
important part of their culture and traditions, and the art of conversation is regarded very highly
throughout the clan. The Igbo culture is a very oral language. Proverbs are the palm oil with which
words are eaten . This quote shows how important proverbs are in everyday life as they are referred

Using a proverb such as this makes difficult truths much more understandable, for children and
adults alike. However, proverbs can also make the Igbo seem either primitive or very verbally
capable, depending on the reader and their heritage and upbringing. Another proverb that is very
important to the text and Igbo tribe is, An animal rubs its itching flank against a tree; a man asks
his kinsmen to scratch him. I think this proverb has two different meanings. One is that animals
are much more self reliant, and don t necessarily need others around to help them. Humans are
much more dependent on others of their kind, and are always interacting with each other, even
for the smallest things. Another meaning that this proverb could have is that man is selfish. The
animals find a way to relieve their needs without the help of anyone else but nature, yet man
takes advantage of others, and is always trying to find a way to get something out of them. This
shows that the same proverb can be interpreted differently depending on the way one looks at it.
If one is not used to the thoughts and ideas of the Igbo, they can become very confused and
interpret the proverb to mean something completely different from what their real meaning is.
Proverbs are an important part of everyday life for the Igbo tribe. Someone who used them was
very highly respected and was

Molarity Of Naoh Lab Report
Conclusion: This lab is finding the molarity of NaOH by the titrating with HCl. The
experimenter is dropping NaOH and when the solution s color change, swirl the solution when it
changes to transparent. By repeating this process, the experimenter finds the molarity of NaOH.
At first trial, initial volume of NaOH was 37.00mL and we used 1.00mL for the titration and the
final volume of NaOH was 38.00mL and the molarity of NaOH was 0.50M NaOH. At second
trial, initial volume was 38.38mL and we used 1.24mL for the titration and the final volume of
NaOH was 39.62mL and the molarity of NaOH was 0.40M NaOH. At last (third) trial, the initial
volume of NaOH was 39.62mL and we used 1.09mL for the titration and the final volume of
NaOH was 40.71mL. According to the volume of NaOH increased, the molarity of NaOH
decreased. Based on the experiment, the relationship between volume and molarity of NaOH is
inverse. The percent error of the first trial was 0% because actual molarity of NaOH is 0.50M
NaOH and at first trial had exact same result with actual molarity. However the percent error of
second trial and third trial was 20% and 8% each. For the second trial, the molarity of NaOH was...

The Techniques Used On Brazilian Athletes At The 2004...
On the biggest stages, athletes cannot avoid feeling some stress and anxiety. Even some of the
greats in their sport still struggle with nerves. For instance, Lionel Messi is known to vomit on
occasion before or during games, as he did in the 2014 World Cup final against Germany. A
majority of successful athletes have had their resilience and composure cited as reasons for their
victories, and certainly, one cannot overlook an athlete who goes out there and executes under
immense pressure like a gymnast executing a flawless routine on the balance beam. On the flip
side, many an athlete has had hopes and dreams dashed by not being able to handle the pressure
and collapsing down the stretch. So how does sport psychology help to limit anxiety and increase
performance? Well, there are a handful of techniques and interventions that can be used, and an
article (Samulski Lopes, 2008) was written on some of the techniques used on Brazilian athletes at
the 2004 Olympic gamesin Athens. There were a total of 10 sport psychologists available for the
242 Brazilian athletes. Some of the sports in which the athletes were counseled included judo, tae

biking, track and field, marathon, table tennis, and shooting. This is not a comprehensive list, but it

international interests. Other changes in the school were not so positive and included an increased
lack of transparency with parents and teachers, which resulted in a gradual disconnect with the

The RSPS website reveals an organizational structure that looks to be very bureaucratic with a
significant number of administrators and directors of various departments. The employee count for
RSPS is also much higher than competing schools such as #1 ranked private school Brophy College
Preparatory with 1,275 students and 150 staff (8.5 students per employee) ; #2 ranked private
school, Northwest Christian School with 1,410 students and 92 employees on one campus(15
students per employee); and # 4 ranked private school, Xavier College Preparatory with 1,163
students and 155 employees on one campus (7.5 students per employee). Comparatively, RSPS has
1,137 students and 200 employees (5.7 students per employee) (Top 10 Arizona Companies: Private
Schools, 2014). This is not a horizontal organization that is becoming more and more common in
today s business world. The teacher subsystem should be changed into an adaptive organization or
organic design (Schermerhorn, 2011, p. 355). In the adaptive design, authority would be
decentralized, with fewer rules and procedures, wide spans of control, shared tasks, more teams and
task forces, and more informal and personal coordination (Schermerhorn, 2011, p. 355). The
planned change would result in improved interpersonal connection with students, their parents, and
other teachers. Administrators, while serving an important function would not be the focus. In the
case of RSPS, one could argue that administrators have

Once it has been quantified it can be then used to compare and contrast with other people s
research and it may also be used in other ways like for example measuring change. These are all in
favour of the usefulness of questionnaires and these suggest reasons why they should be used in
sociological research.
As well as there being many advantages there are also many disadvantages to questionnaires.
Item B is a source of evidence where a respondent has commented on an experience she has had
filling out a previous questionnaire. This does not really support the use of questionnaires and
is more in favour of why we should not use this research method. We are able to see a number of
disadvantages from a comment of one person. It most definitely can lack validity and we can
never be sure if we are getting the truth. As the person in item B said, I can t remember if I
answered it truthfully or not . As it lacks validity this therefore means the results received may
not necessarily be reliable. Many people do not take them seriously and just see it as a joke and
therefore answer falsely I thought it was a bit of a laugh . Once the researcher receives the
questionnaires they can not be sure in anyway which questionnaires have valid information and
which have false information given from each respondent. When people are filling out
questionnaires their answers my be influenced because of peer pressure, they may feel pressured

The Negative Effects Of Social Influence On Identity...
Social influence is present in all areas of human lives. Society influences people s perceptions,
attitudes, judgments, opinions or behaviors. That is why every individual modifies their action
based on the interaction they have with their environment. This influence is due to the relationship
with people, groups, institutions and with society in general. The environmenthas a bad influence on
identity development because people tend to follow what the others say and assimilate of
themselves. Society influences people negatively because it is mostly focused on the betterment of
yourself and not on people as a community. Also, familyhave a negative impact on the personality
of the householdmembers because family have the biggest role in the lives of individuals. The
relationships between the members of the household, determine the values, affections, and
attitudes of the children who want to assimilate it. Therefore, the family is the most central

Reflection Paper On My Writing Process
Reflective Memo
Description of my Writing Process
In my writing process, pre writing was my initial step where I had to find the narrative to write. I
had numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the
one that could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood
memory regarding the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story.
Therefore, I had to use the myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the
course requirements. Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the
most intended life lesson to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to
write down in particular.
The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had
several challenges at this phase, such as word count, grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I
had to write several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to
eliminate any potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on
whether it will convey a relevant meaning to my audience.
But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising
my narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach where, I had to add some words, rearrange my
paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to
remove the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message.
Finally, replacing them with the relevant words and phrases.
My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar,
repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and proofreading were detailed processes since they
were the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper,
since I had read it several times, affirming that it made some sense. Furthermore, I gave it to my
friend who is a professional to proofread, and he assured me that the paper was sensible.
Revising the Narrative

Candide, The Idea Of Optimism
Comedy of ideas, a form a satire and also known as a form of high comedy, is a when two ideas
of thoughts are put directly against each other. Typically it involves characters arguing about ideas
that involve politics, social classes, and society as a whole. Characters use wit, mockery, and
clever language as a way to mimic and mock their challenger. In the case of Candide, the idea of
optimism (Pangloss views) and pessimism (Martin) are pinned against each other. Optimism is an
attitude in which one remains hopeful and positive despite the negative circumstances. Pangloss
view of optimism involves his belief that everything happens for a reason. Pangloss is stuck in this
particular state of mindthrough out the novel. He firmly believes that the death, mishaps and
misfortunes of others are the way the world is and God has a plan. Candide also starts out in this
state of mind due to the fact that Pangloss mentored him and shaped his way of thinking. However,
unlike Pangloss, Candide progresses in his way of thought. In this novel, Pangloss represents
Voltaires attack on philosophical optimism and the non progressive social consequences involved
with optimism.
Voltaire depicts three lifestyles in Candide. Candide starts out by living in a Paradise , a
representation of the Garden of Eden. Then there is a Utopia which is his time living in El Dorado,

His ambition is now aimed at keeping the world from learning of his sin; He is willing to do
anything, including further stain his conscience by committing and ordering executions. Ironically
if it weren t for the murder of Banquo, no one would have truly suspected Macbeth s crime as

His ambitions change from becoming king to protecting that which his. He is flawed in his

Manhattan Project Effects
On August 6th, 1945 sixty thousand people instantly disintegrated within a five mile radius blast
that erupted over Hiroshima, Japan. Three days later an even stronger blast was felt over the
Japanese city of Nagasaki. Though thousands died, the technologic improvement from the original
bomb did not go unnoticed. Both Little boy and Fat man were successful in collapsing the Japanese
will to fight and on August 15th Japan surrendered to the United States. Without the introduction of
the atomic bomb, no one can say for sure how long the war would have raged on for. As noted in
the Battle of Midway the shortage of experienced pilots hindered Japan but advanced their tactics
as well. Rather than training proficient pilots, the Japanese took a kamikaze approach to aerial

religious political battles of the English Civil War. The article expressed how the act was a huge
milestone in the early history of religious freedom in America and how at the time it helped
reestablish order in Maryland by institutionalizing the principle of toleration that had prevailed from
the colony s beginning. More specifically, the act provided punishment for anyone who troubled or
molested a Christian for religious reasons which would consequently help establish harmony
amongst the different religions of the time. The article goes on to say

Change At Work Analysis
Changing isn t always the easiest thing to do, but in writing it is necessary. Whether it s changing
your genre; which includes style, form, focus, tone, word choice. Or changing it to fit a new
workplace which is explained in Wardle s essay Identity, Authority, and Learning to Write in New
Workplaces. Roozens Tracing Trajectories of Practice: Repurposing in One Student s Developing
Disciplinary WritingProcess is also an example of how change affects someone s writing. Change is
crucial for people in any new or different environment.
In Roozens essay, Lindsay was the student that he followed. In this text, he explains Lindsay s
understanding of the text. He first describes her verse copying practices in religious text, then he

Asserting his own identity means that he only wanted to use his own work, and not listen to other

asserting his own identity on other Alan struggled to be successful in his new place of work
because he resisted the identity that was imposed on him by the workplace. Because our identities
are shaped to some extent by the communities in which we chose to participate workers such as
Alan may also be demonstrating their desire to identify with communities of practice other than
the primary ones in which they work by refusing to appropriate new ways of writing (Wardle 294).
Roozen is explaining how Alan s refusal to change is because of the community he identifies with,
and because he doesn t identify himself with the new workplace he doesn t find it necessary to
adjust to the new writing techniques. Alan continued to only write in his own way and did not
become a member of his new community. No one in his new community change to accommodate
his stubbornness, this ended in Alan leaving the workplace looking for employment

Why Adopt Shelter Dogs
Why should you adopt a shelter dog? Every year 3.9 million dogs nationwide are brought into
shelters. Of those 3.9 million 31% are euthanized. I think that you should adopt shelter dogs
because lots of them die and you could save them, they are affordable, and they are good for
your health. One reason is that many dogs die everyday in shelters. 3.9 million dogs nationwide
are brought into shelters, of those 3.9 million 31% are euthanized. If dogs have been in the
shelters for awhile and people aren t adopting them they will eventually be killed so new dogs
can be brought in. If more people adopt shelter dogs then less dogs will die. Another reason is that
they are more affordable than the average dog. Dogs at a shelter called Last Hope Animal

Nitrates And Nitrites
The two primary metabolic processes nitrates undergo are through the entero salivary circulation
pathway and the nitrate nitrate NO pathway (Nitrate/Nitrite Toxicity 2013: Biologic Fate of Nitrates
and Nitrites, 2013). Inorganic nitrates and nitrites consumed through food and water are first
reduced in the oral cavity by bacteria present on the tongue. This reductive activity converts nitrates
to nitrites where it can further be metabolized through the gastrointestinal tract. After conversion of
nitrites to nitric oxide it is absorbed via the small intestine where it is distributed into circulation.
Once the nitrites and nitric oxide enter the circulatory system it reaches target tissues where it may
be used for cellular activity. It is found that 25% of nitrites are concentrated in the salivary... Show

This reductive activity is absent of nitric oxide synthase and is carried out by the bacteria present in
the mouth. Bacteria on the tongue is capable of reducing nitrates to nitrites through its own
metabolic activity. This metabolic process is done in situ, or locally. The newly converted nitrites
then enter the gastric stomach where acidic conditions convert the nitrites to nitric oxide.
Remaining nitrites and nitrates that were not converted in the stomach are absorbed via the small
intestine where it is distributed to the kidneys and salivary glands. An active uptake of nitrates from
the blood allows entry into the salivary gland where the peptide, sialin, makes transportation and
excretion available. The bacteria present in the mouth reduces nitrates to nitrites and does not
require nitric oxide synthase activity (Lundberg, Weitzberg, Gladwin, 2008). In this metabolic
pathway, the conversion of nitrates to nitrates are a result of the bacteria found on the tongue to
carry out reduction activity of the dietary consumption of

Cultural Change In Ancient Egypt
Let s take an imaginary trip some 6828 miles to Egypt. The Ancient Egyptian civilization is
exceptionally famous because it continued without massive cultural change for almost 3,000 years.
All its cities were built beside the Nile, a very manageable river; making farming easy and
productive (Minds, 2015). According to an article in EgyptTravel Guide, Egyptian cuisine
combines many of the best traditions of African, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cooking, and
is both delicious and healthy. Fruit, such as dates and olives, picked from the trees combine with
vegetables, meats and fresh fish, aromatic herbs and spices to create colorful and flavorsome
dishes (Egypt travel guide, 2015). From this information, I chose to become familiar... Show more

Certain foods are prohibited from eating. Muslims who observe Islam usually doesn t eat pork or
pork products. Some Muslims only eat fish that have scales. They also observe Ramadan, which is
a month long of fasting from food during a certain time frame. During fasting they must refrain
from eating and drinking. At the end of each fast day, they usually break their fast with dates, water,
fruit juice or soup. The unique Egyptian cuisine has been influenced throughout history, particularly
by its neighbors from the Middle East. Persians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, and Ottomans. More
recently, the foods of other Arabic people in the Middle East such as the Lebanese, Palestinians,
Syrians, as well as some foods from Europe, have affected the Egyptian diet. However, Egyptian
cuisine maintains its uniqueness. After thousands of years, rice and bread remain staple foods

Analysis Of Stanley Milgram s Behavioral Study Of...
Throughout the course of history, the phenomenon of psychology has drawn countless
psychologists and scientists to further comprehend the depths and fascinations of the human mind
and body. Using experimentation as a source of obtaining and recording desired information
regarding the new realizations of the mind, cognitive scientists continue to fathom at the intricate
revelations the mind has to offer. Although the complexities of the mind have brought scientists to
puzzling conclusions, scientists have used a series of experimental steps to conclude how and why
the processes of the brain can change the actions and personalities of an individual.

With each incorrect answer, the voltageof the electric shock would increase, beginning at a
voltage of 15 volts to a deadly voltage of 450 volts. However, the experiment was most definitely
rigged. The learners were hired actors used as part of the experiment to determine whether the
teacher (one of the 40 male participants) would continue to obey the commands of the
experimenter despite the blood chilling screams from the opposite room. Milgram further explains
in detail why the reasoning behind his experiment is surprisingly valid. The most important
information of Milgram s article provides a table recording the different variations of shock levels,
beginning from slight shock to XXX. The different levels of shock voltages are measured from 15
volts to 450 volts. The right side of the table attributes to number of teachers who found the
corresponding voltage as their maximum shock. A majority of the teachers did not identify a
maximum shock until 300 volts was reached. At this point, various teachers discontinued the
experiment and refused to participate further. However, Milgram states of the 40 subjects, 26
obeyed the orders of the experimenter until the end, proceeding to punish the victim until they
reached the most potent shock available on the shock generator (376). Milgram s data shows that 65
percent of the men chosen, decided to inflict the highest pain threshold upon

Case Study Chick-Fil-A
Introduction This case study will analyze the findings of my research on the general overview of
Chick fil A from conception to future projections all while analyzing the external environment ,
current strategies, and current objectives. Then I will detail some strategies that I would
recommend if I were the CEO and my reasoning. My research will also detail the competitive
strategies used by the company s main competitors and how Chick fil A could combat these
strategies.
Chick fil A the Beginning Facts and History of Chick fil A (2016), noted how Chick fil A was
founded by Truett Cathy in the early 1960 s, after Mr. Cathy had opened a restaurant earlier,
1946, called Dwarf Grill in Hapeville, Georgia. Truett Cathy was not one to follow others in fact
his determination and vision led him to open the first restaurant inside a mall in 1967 making him a
first mover, by marketing the idea of combining food and shopping (first mover, business
dictionary). The first mover decision that Cathy made has established Chick fil A as one of the
largest fast food Chicken industries in the United States and led the way for many fast food chains
to follow.

As a result, our attitudes and personalities are a product of our experiences and the various environments in which they occurred . Furthermore, the society we live in presents to us a set of standards, values, and givens that we may or may not agree with. In literature, the society plays a major role in affecting the characters thoughts and actions. His character expressed an indifferent view of the universe, with a tasteless, emotionless approach to everyday tasks. Being indifferent, he cared for nothing and no one, thus being a potential threat to society, if anything. If anything is high on the list of criteria for being a non conformist , it s being a potential threat to society! In Euripides Medea , the characters live in a mythological society, which for the most part reflected the ideas and values of ancient Greece, with the exceptions of Gods and Goddesses. Since witches have always been a symbol of evil and mischief, it is assumed that Medea, a witch, does not conform with the society she exists in. Besides that fact, Medea takes place in Greece while Medea herself comes from a distant land, considered savage by Greek standards. With that burden, she fills no other role than non conformist, and the position inspires her actions which make Medea into a tragedy. The non conformists in these works all seem to defy society to the point of a common act(murder), with the exception of Fusako, whose actions and lifestyle play a role of indirectly inspiring the act while not committing the act herself. In this perspective her function as non conformist is less significant than the others . The widowed mother of Noboru, Fusako has adapted to many western ways. There were several research studies that demonstrated the positive impact active learning can have upon students. One outcome is increased content knowledge, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, and positive attitudes towards learningin comparison to traditional lecture based delivery. However, it also can increase enthusiasm for learning in both students and instructors. Then, there is the improving students perceptions and attitudes towards information literacy ( Ellis Hall Active Learning Classrooms Project. ). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Results: Neighborhood Randomization Using Sub Graph Perturbation In order for people to mine valuable data from social network graphs they must first be given information about the network. Even without explicit information about the nodes, an attacker may use structural information about the nodes and graph itself (e.g. node degree) to identify who the individuals are that the nodes represent. Simple graph wise randomization addresses this problem by deleting k randomly chosen edges and replacing them with k randomly chosen edges, however a problem arises since data miners depend on these structural attributes to properly analyze the social network. Fard and Wang [fard wang] propose a structure aware algorithm for the randomization of social network edges as well as a formal definition of link privacy with respect to a probabilistic threshold. Their motivation is to help conceal sensitive links by using randomization techniques, without disturbing the actual structure of the graph, which is achieved through local neighborhood perturbation. This is needed so that graphs can be analyzed without the link structure being left entirely vulnerable to attackers. The goal of their algorithm is to make it so that an adversary cannot know if a link in the original graph exists from having a link in the new graph. Problem definition: Given a ... In the Soviet system, occupation determined both social class and access to resources; however, the sudden introduction of capitalism and market consumerism shifted this standard: A previous logic of value one that associated professional achievement with material privileges was being challenged (Patico, 52). Experiencing downward financial and social status, teachers constructed a new logic of value with an emphasis on morality and culture. Patico suggests that important characteristics of this emerging logic of value manifested themselves in consumer choices. She describes her informants: They did not see themselves as naive victims of marketization...They wished to master all this knowledge and tended to find it important to be well informed consumers and to maintain dignified, cultured lifestyles (Patico, 61). Given rapid economic changes which threatened to dilute their social position, teachers grasped onto their status as knowledgeable and cultured intelligentsia. In her article Tracing Landscapes of the Past in Class Subjectivity Michele Rivkin Fish describes this process: Groups who aspired to distinction and recognition could still deploy symbolic markers of prestige. All proverbs have some kind of deeper meaning behind them, and this is part of the Nigerian culture. Another proverb that is very important to the text and Igbo tribe is, An animal rubs its itching flank against a tree; a man asks his kinsmen to scratch him. I think this proverb has two different meanings. One is that animals are much more self reliant, and don t necessarily need others around to help them. Humans are much more dependent on others of their kind, and are always interacting with each other, even for the smallest things. Another meaning that this proverb could have is that man is selfish. The animals find a way to relieve their needs without the help of anyone else but nature, yet man takes advantage of others, and is always trying to find a way to get something out of them. This shows that the same proverb can be interpreted differently depending on the way one looks at it. If one is not used to the thoughts and ideas of the Igbo, they can become very confused and interpret the proverb to mean something completely different from what their real meaning is. Even some of the greats in their sport still struggle with nerves. For instance, Lionel Messi is known to vomit on occasion before or during games, as he did in the 2014 World Cup final against Germany. A majority of successful athletes have had their resilience and composure cited as reasons for their victories, and certainly, one cannot overlook an athlete who goes out there and executes under immense pressure like a gymnast executing a flawless routine on the balance beam. On the flip side, many an athlete has had hopes and dreams dashed by not being able to handle the pressure and collapsing down the stretch. So how does sport psychology help to limit anxiety and increase performance? Well, there are a handful of techniques and interventions that can be used, and an article (Samulski Lopes, 2008) was written on some of the techniques used on Brazilian athletes at the 2004 Olympic gamesin Athens. I had numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the one that could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood memory regarding the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story. Therefore, I had to use the myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the course requirements. Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the most intended life lesson to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to write down in particular. The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had several challenges at this phase, such as word count, grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I had to write several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to eliminate any potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on whether it will convey a relevant meaning to my audience. But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising my narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach where, I had to add some words, rearrange my paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to remove the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message. Finally, replacing them with the relevant words and phrases. My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar, repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and proofreading were detailed processes since they were the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper, since I had read it several times, affirming that it made some sense. Furthermore, I gave it to my friend who is a professional to proofread, and he assured me that the paper was sensible. • 46. Nitrates And Nitrites The two primary metabolic processes nitrates undergo are through the entero salivary circulation pathway and the nitrate nitrate NO pathway (Nitrate/Nitrite Toxicity 2013: Biologic Fate of Nitrates and Nitrites, 2013). Inorganic nitrates and nitrites consumed through food and water are first reduced in the oral cavity by bacteria present on the tongue. This reductive activity converts nitrates to nitrites where it can further be metabolized through the gastrointestinal tract. After conversion of nitrites to nitric oxide it is absorbed via the small intestine where it is distributed into circulation. Once the nitrites and nitric oxide enter the circulatory system it reaches target tissues where it may be used for cellular activity. It is found that 25% of nitrites are concentrated in the salivary... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This reductive activity is absent of nitric oxide synthase and is carried out by the bacteria present in the mouth. Bacteria on the tongue is capable of reducing nitrates to nitrites through its own metabolic activity. This metabolic process is done in situ, or locally. The newly converted nitrites then enter the gastric stomach where acidic conditions convert the nitrites to nitric oxide. Remaining nitrites and nitrates that were not converted in the stomach are absorbed via the small intestine where it is distributed to the kidneys and salivary glands. An active uptake of nitrates from the blood allows entry into the salivary gland where the peptide, sialin, makes transportation and excretion available. The bacteria present in the mouth reduces nitrates to nitrites and does not require nitric oxide synthase activity (Lundberg, Weitzberg, Gladwin, 2008). In this metabolic pathway, the conversion of nitrates to nitrates are a result of the bacteria found on the tongue to carry out reduction activity of the dietary consumption of ... The learners were hired actors used as part of the experiment to determine whether the teacher (one of the 40 male participants) would continue to obey the commands of the experimenter despite the blood chilling screams from the opposite room. Milgram further explains in detail why the reasoning behind his experiment is surprisingly valid. The most important information of Milgram s article provides a table recording the different variations of shock levels, beginning from slight shock to XXX. The different levels of shock voltages are measured from 15 volts to 450 volts. The right side of the table attributes to number of teachers who found the corresponding voltage as their maximum shock. A majority of the teachers did not identify a maximum shock until 300 volts was reached. At this point, various teachers discontinued the experiment and refused to participate further. However, Milgram states of the 40 subjects, 26 obeyed the orders of the experimenter until the end, proceeding to punish the victim until they reached the most potent shock available on the shock generator (376).
