The Reformation And The Protestant Reformation
The 16th century reformation is also known as the Protestant reformation. There are a various number
of causes for the Protestant reformation. The causes of the reformation will be analyzed from two
different perspectives: Germany s causes and Europe s causes. The results of reformation will be
examined. Major contributors such as Martin Luther and John Calvin s perspectives and contributions
will also be analyzed and the impact they had during their time period.
People in Europe during the early 16th century faced a lot personal grievances with the church. This
provoked a reformation which is known as the Protestant reformation. The reformation began in 1517,
and ended in 1648. The ideas of people such as Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Henry VIII caught
several peoples eye because of this. They provided different views, and ideas that many never thought
about. Europe and Germany had different reasons for the reformation, and because of this had
different outcomes.
Martin Luther was a german university professor and a priest who challenged some of the church s
doctrines. Mr. Luther was concerned with sin and penance for those sins; he challenged the idea of
buying indulgences, which were believed to bring forgiveness for all sins. Luther wrote Ninety five
Theses on the Power of Indulgences ; which stated that indulgences undermined the seriousness of the
sacrament of penance, completed with the preaching of the gospel, and downplayed the importance of
charity in

Formative Literacy Assessment
Assessments and feedbacks are crucial to helping students learn effectively. Evaluating student s
abilities to comprehend text and science concepts is a major component because it helps the teacher
know how their student s literacy skills are developing (Rakes Smith, 1992). Therefore, assigning
formative literacy assessments are crucial in STEM classrooms because it helps educators get an
insight on how their students would perform on high stake exams. A student who is having difficulty
understanding science passages would need an adjustment in the lesson so that he or she can focus
more on practicing their literacy skills. In my classroom, my goal is to assign a variety of formative
literacy assessment that will help my students become

It Is Widely Known That Slavery Is A Brutal, Cruel, And
It is widely known that slavery is a brutal, cruel, and inhumane regime that had been wide spread
around the whole world. However, it has not inflamed a whole scale political and social crisis more
seriously anywhere than in the United States during the nineteenth century. People who were forced,
kidnapped or passively born to be slaves were not only required to perform endless labor, but also
tortured, suppressed and bestially destroyed in numerous heartless ways physically and mentally.
However, a few decades before the outbreak of the civil war, it was barely possible for the people in
the north to know about the details of how the slaves lived in the south due to several factors such as
the limit of communications. Fortunately, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, they were continuously threaten by physical torture, which might be imposed upon them
for no reason but their masters bad mood that day. They were always whipped for hours, often beaten
with hoes and sticks, and sometimes killed as animals by their cruel masters with no pity and
compassion at all, which was also not illegal. There is one very scary but reflective example presented
by Douglass in his narrative that a woman slave was killed brutally by her mistress because she just
had a rest while the baby whom she took care of was crying. Behind this, she was actually kept
working every night and rarely had a nap. A trivial mistake shockingly cost her life to pay for the baby
s cry. According to many more details by Douglass, those slaves lived in a life in which they not only
needed to keep worrying about what to eat and when to take a break, but also needed to never stop
thinking about how they should behave like an infallible machine in order to escape from their masters
s bloody cowskins. In a word, slaves were deprived of the right to work hard to earn a living, and
became the livestocks which were forced by human to do whatever they needed them to do, which
also meant they could be tortured or killed just for the same reason why an animal could be killed.
Second, under the system of slavery, African Americans were kept getting hurt mentally because

Questions On The Mathematics Of Math
Mathematics to me, is complex numbers with only one correct answer involving numbers and other
unknown variables. There are formulas where you plug numbers into and solving for the x variable. I
would consider myself somewhat good at math I do not always get a concept right away but I will
work through the difficulty until I discover how to understand the concept at hand. I will study and
persevere until the challenge at hand is resolved. Usually, I am a quick learner which allows me to
understand math fairly quickly and at a easy rate. However, there are some parts of math that come
more naturally to me than others. For example, in precalculus I found graphing more straight forward
and easy to understand. Where as with trigonomic functions where I had to make both sides equal the
same functions I tended to get confused quicker. This happened because there were multiple ways to
get to the same answer and multiple answers so I felt like there was no one correct way. There was lots
of variation and flexibility and there was less structure so it went against the usual ways I learn math. I
was forced to change the way I had traditionally learned math. To learn math means that you are being
shown daily applications such as keeping track of money, figuring out a budget, seeing how much
space you have in your room, and so forth. There are tons of daily applications for math some of
which I don t even fully realize. When I do realize how math has helped in my daily life I tend

Qualitative Data Such As Interpretive Phenomenological...
Abstract
Qualitative data such as Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) are under constant scrutiny by
Quantitative researchers looking for legitimacy. Elliot et al., 1999, were able to provide this legitimacy
by creating seven key guidelines; owning one s perspective, situating the sample, grounding in
examples, providing credibility checks, coherence, accomplishing general versus specific research
tasks and resonating with the reader. Focus is given to these guidelines throughout the review of the
above titled paper to highlight how these can be applied. The article focuses on the phenomenon,
anger, and the use of IPA to help understand this. The purposes of the article are to highlight how

Fischer, C, T,. Rennie, D, L,. 1999). Elliot et al. (1999) were such researchers, who were successful in
creating seven key guidelines that can be utilised in any qualitative research. These guidelines are as
follows, owning one s perspective, situating the sample, grounding in examples, providing credibility
checks, coherence, accomplishing general versus specific research tasks and resonating with the
reader. Further detail will be discussed in relation to these guidelines during the following evaluation.
Attention will also be paid to how these guidelines can be applied to IPA analysis.
Main Body
The article, Understanding feelings of anger using IPA (Smith Eatough, 2006), has two key focus
areas. Firstly is the use of IPA. Secondly is the understanding and interpretation of anger as
experienced by the individual. Throughout the article, each section explains how the method, IPA is
utilised. The purpose of the article is to illuminate how ..., anger, emotion related feelings, thoughts
and expressions appear to the individual (Smith Eatough, 2006). They argued that emotions are more
often than not, world focused and proposed that a holistic approach was required to fully understand
this phenomenon. This was studied as a single sample, case study. Data was analysed using IPA with
results showing anger

Pros And Cons Of The Gold Standard
THE GOLD STANDARD IN THE INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC SYSTEM
During the late nineteenth century, the global economy was characterized by use of a gold standard.
The gold standard helped to unite the economies of the world s nations, thereby leading to increased
prosperity and stability. The success of the gold standard was related to the particular circumstances of
the time. As conditions changed, the gold standard became less viable and was eventually dropped.
This paper will describe the pros and cons of the gold standard as it existed in the nineteenth century.
In this way, an explanation will be provided for why the gold standard rose to prominence and then
declined.
The gold standard is a monetary system in which the value of a nation s ... Show more content on

One of the main advantages of the gold standard is that it created an international monetary system
that helped to unite the world s national economies. This resulted in smoother trade between nations,
which led to greater prosperity and innovation. In the words of one economics historian, gold, it is
conventionally argued, commanded an unstoppable advantage and momentum because it promised
greater price and exchange stability than silver, closer integration with the world s financial centres,
and, consequently, cheaper capital from abroad (Balachandran 316). According to another writer on
the subject, the single monetary system, based on the gold standard, resulted in the global economy
being relatively stable during the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. Thus, the era
from the beginning of Queen Victoria s reign until the outbreak of World War I was one of the most
stable periods in monetary history, and it produced the greatest general prosperity known in history to
that time (Weatherford 159).
Another benefit of the gold standard is that it enabled nations to turn to the use of paper currency,
which was backed by gold. The use of currency increased the convenience in making financial
transactions. This, in turn, led to a dramatic increase in the use of money. Therefore, paper expanded
the role of money to new markets, new applications, and new clients (Weatherford 141). In addition,
the use of paper currency

The Effects Of Global Warming On The Earth s Atmosphere...
Global warming occurs due to an increase in the average temperature of the earth s atmosphere.
Various reasons as discussed in task 3 lead to the rise in temperature around the earth. The reasons
include deforestation, burning fossil fuels, increase in human population and increase in the amount of
carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses such as methane, chlorofluorocarbons, nitrous oxide and
water vapor in the atmosphere. (Dai, 2013) Greenhouse gasses are produced when fossil fuels or wood
is burned. In other cases, when plants rot, carbon and methane are released into the atmosphere.
Global warming can be controlled through the following ways: preservation of forests, minimal use of
fossil fuels in energy production, efficient use of energy and use of low carbon or zero carbon
technology.
Conservation of forests: Forests can be preserved through prevention of deforestation and through
planting more trees. The importance of forests in controlling global warming applies where the trees
use up carbon dioxide during photosynthesis and therefore reduce the carbon dioxide concentration in
the atmosphere. Carbon, which is a component of carbon dioxide, is stored in the trees and is
necessary for tree growth. Therefore, preservation of trees ensures minimal circulation of carbon and
its products in the atmosphere. (Spies A.S. Mori, 2013) Deforestation has currently become a daily
activity and the number of trees affected is massive. Deforestation can be discouraged through

How Did World War One Change In The Home Front
Overtime one change in the home front in britain throughout the war was recruitment. At first many
joined, this was because of their attitude towards the war, they thought it would be over by Christmas
and Britain would easily win, they also thought it would be an adventure, this lead to many young
people to recruit themselves early on in the war. This is seen in source D as through 1914 and 1915 the
brown family were happy to see these young boys join the war. They had happy attitudes towards it
and thought it was the right thing for the country. However, the war did end, and recruitment numbers
fell, this was because they learnt of the horrors of war. This then lead most men to not signing up. The
government then introduced conscription

The Ethics Of Paediatric Anti Depressant
Synthesizing the clinical problems relating to the prescription of antidepressant medications, M. C.
Shearer and S. L. Bermingham outline and highlight the ethical concerns regarding the use of
antidepressant medications in children and adolescents. Professors of Biology Shearer and
Bermingham in their article The Ethics of Paediatric Anti Depressant Use: Erring on the Side of
Caution argue that prescribing antidepressants to youth is a simplistic approach to a complex issue and
should be severely restricted by physicians and strictly enforced by parents. Paediatric depression
(depression that usually affects youth ages five to eighteen, or in some cases, individuals up to age
twenty one) is on the rise, and is quickly becoming a significant issue in today s society. Recent
estimates have placed its prevalence at a combined percentage of between two and seven percent for
those between the ages of six and eighteen years old. Identified by a range of symptoms including:
low mood, anhedonia [the inability to feel pleasure], defiance, pessimism, morbid thoughts and
somatic symptoms, (710) adolescent depression, very similar to adult depression, takes a toll on the
lives of adolescent youth and often alters their personalities, actions and behaviors. It is clear that
adolescent depression is a serious illness that should be combatted in a timely and appropriate manner,

Military Apprenticeship Paper
United Services Military Apprenticeship Program (USMAP)
Veteran s today face many challenges as they seek civilian jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor
Statistics 2014 report more than 190,000 of the 2.8 million Gulf War II Veterans cannot find work,
USMAP could help resolve this issue (Watson, 2014). Senior Enlisted Leaders need to understand the
advantages USMAP in order to provide transitioning service members from active duty to civilian life.
This paper will provide the background information, discussion, and recommendation for the
increased use of USMAP.
Background Information
Veteran unemployment is an ever increasing issue for service members departing from active duty.
USMAP established as a formal military training program in 1999 through the consolidation of the
U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Naval apprenticeship programs, and the U.S. Coast Guard apprenticeship
programs in 2007, the program supplies service members with certification as Journey Workers per
standards of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) in specific occupational fields. USMAP could
seriously assist in reducing the number of unemployed veterans. With the background information
provided, the discussion will provide further information.

Currently there are nearly 64,000 active apprentices enrolled. Service members are able to choose the
trade they pursue as long as it relates to their military occupation. Upon completion of the program,
participants receive a nationally recognized Completion Certificate to help attract employers when a
service member returns to the civilian workforce (Aleshire, 2012). A current trend in USMAP shows
an increase in personnel registering in the program, however due to current deployments and
schedules many members are not completing for the following reasons (Shatkin ,

Ethical Implications Of Slut Shaming
Taylor Durand Slut Shaming Introduction To the Term I mean did you see what Rachel wore to the
party last night? Total slut. Don t you worry about adding too many notches to your belt? How many
people have you slept with really? You re definitely getting into trashy territory Rachel. Many times I
have heard variations of these quotations being said throughout my life. The real trash is policing
someone s sexuality. Slut is a derogatory term used to degrade women s sexuality. In this text I will
outline the problems and the harm that slut shaming bestows on women and their sexuality. Slut
shaming is detrimental to women s psychological morale, her political standings, and her role and
power in society and relationships. In order to better understand slut shaming, an explanation as to
why it is a phenomenon in today s society needs to be given. One of my biggest concerns is the fluid
usage of the word slut or whore. This phenomenon of slut shaming is mostly seen with teenagers and
young adults and thus this is the group I will be focusing on. Young women and men seem to define a
slut differently. Women define a slut as 1. A woman who is sexually active, 2. A woman who wears a
lot of makeup, 3. A woman who dresses suggestively, 4. A woman who, despite her unpopularity, tries
to get the attention of boys, 5. A woman who is assumed to be sexually advanced because her body is
more developed, 6. A woman who flirts with other girl s boyfriends or has a lot of guy friends.

Raised in the projects of Bridgeport, Connecticut, where the city dump could be seen from every
corner of his apartment, a young Leonardo Drew was exposed to many raw and decaying sources of
inspiration which would later shape his creative and rustic style of composition. Drew would often use
materials from the city dump and repurpose them to create something beautiful. One of the biggest
reasons for his artistic success would be the youth group he attended which offered free supplies and
lessons from mentors. It is from this experience which led Drew to have his first exhibition at the age
of thirteen. This prodigy like image gained the attention of DC Comics and Marvel Comics talent
scouts. From then on, he further expanded his artistic abilities ... Show more content on

Critical Race Theory And Conflict Theory Paper
Critical Race Theory and Conflict Theory Society contains groups with diverse interests, where
competing interests encourage conflict (Hutchison, 2013). The racial ideology in the United States is
the belief in a hierarchy of races with whites at the top and other races grouped underneath (Robbins,
Chatterjee, Canda, 2011). One way minorities are depicted as different from whites is through imagery
that creates detachment and seclusion between groups (Ortiz Jani, 2010).
Critical Race Theory Critical race theory (CRT) assumes this society was created to empower White
people; CRT is focused on transforming the relationships between race and racial power assembled by
law and culture (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). This theory suggests that racism is embedded in American
society (Helms, 2006), looking at how racial pride in being White can be exhibited in tolerable ways
or as White superiority (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). As a post modern theory, CRT encourages
structural approach by attending to the problems of a diverse society, instead of purely increasing
access to obtainable opportunities and resources (Ortiz Jani, 2011). History is ... Show more content

to help a client rise up against oppression in the critical race theory. These theories emphasize the

The Significance Of The Lincoln Memorial
The location selected for a monument is a significant factor to consider when contemplating the
creation of a monument. For instance the Lincoln Memorial was built on the National Mall, in
Washington D.C., a place that is practically a pilgrimage site , as said by Kirk Savage in his book
Monument Wars (source A). The purpose of the monuments built on the National Mall are to bring
about a symbolic aura for the government. The Lincoln Memorial brings this aura by honoring
America s greatest president of all time , in the nation s capitol. Along with Lincoln s memorial, you

A meticulously designed monument is more appealing to the eye, and a more memorable one, because
the first thing you notice about a monument is it s appearance. The Lincoln Memorial, as said by Kirk

Plaster Of Paris
I. Purpose:
The purpose of the experiment is to determine how a mold and cast constructs fossils. The hypothesis
is a fossil mold will form after the plaster of paris is set and dried out. The justification for the
hypothesis is a cast will form when an animal or plant is covered in sediments. Once the sediments
start to harden into a rock state the fossil will become captured and preserved. (Wile, 159 162)
II. Materials:
1. Modeling clay or Play Doh
2. Plaster of paris
3. A paper plate
4. A shell or something with a distinctive design
5. Vaseline or another kind of petroleum jelly
6. Eye protection
III. Procedure:
The shell was covered in petroleum jelly then set on the counter while the modeling clay was being
stretched out on plate. Once the modeling clay was stretched out so it was two times bigger then the
shell, the shell was firmly pushed into the clay. Before the shell was removed the plaster of paris was
mixed together using the direction on the package. When the shell was removed it formed the mold,
the plaster of paris was poured over the mold until the mold was filled. The plate was ... Show more

A mold is formed when an animal or plant are captured in sediments later hardening into sedimentary
rock. Fossils are typically found in sedimentary rock because igneous rock is created with magma at a
temperature too high for an organic remains to survive. Metaphoric rock is created when sedimentary
or igneous rock has a high temperature and has high pressure. A fossil is able to form in metaphoric
rock but the pressure and heat the fossil is disconfirmed and useless. (Reference, Why Are Fossils

Example Of Cognitive Dissonance
Cognitive dissonance is the sense of mental disorganization or imbalance that may prompt a person to
change when new information conflicts with previously organized thought patterns. The text states,
The incompatibly between your behavior and your new knowledge will make you feel uncomfortable
(381).
I have experienced cognitive dissonance when preparing for an exam. For instance, I will not study or
not study as well as I should for a test. Then when I receive my test back or my score is posted, I
realize that I really should have studied a lot harder. Then for the next exam I would try to study
earlier and harder so I could retain the information so I would perform well on the test. Going into the
class I know that I have a test, but I still do not study for it. I know that by not studying it will hurt my
grade, but I do it anyways, then once I see my grade I realize that I cannot do that again. Otherwise,
my grade would plummet and my GPA could be affected as well.
Another example is when you try to get through a class just by memorizing the information, and not
being able to retain any of it. I have gone through several classes where I just hurry and memorize as
many facts and examples as I can so I will get through the class and still earn a good grade. I end up
not being able to remember such information after the semester is over. An example of this would be
my Chemistry class. I am an Early Childhood Education major, and I do not need to know Chemistry

Summary of the Ballet quot;Giselle quot; Essays
Giselle is a romantic ballet choreographed by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot. Adolphe Adam beautifully
composes the music. This ballet was originally performed in Paris in 1841. The production that we
viewed in class was from La Salla. Giselle is one of the last ballets of the Romantic era.
The element that stood out the most to me was how effectively the music and the footwork
corresponded. The best examples of this are seen through the dancers solos. Especially Albrecht s
solo, his feet glide on the stage at the same tempo as the music. Similarly, Giselle s graceful footwork
is truly amazing. I really like the similarities between the choreographed footwork and the music, it
makes Giselle seem much more elegant and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also enjoyed the mixture of solo dancing in comparison with the peasant dancing in the first act. I
thought the two coincided very well. Additionally, the choreographer, made excellent use of the stage
space. There was a good variation of movement across the stage, without unnecessary distraction.
Furthermore, in Giselle the viewer notices are the difference in costumes, compared with today s more
contemporary ballets. Giselle is dressed as a girl, not like a typical ballerina. The length of her skirt is
very long, but stops short enough for you to allow seeing her footwork. There is also a clear
distinction among the high society and the peasants. When the peasants are dancing, their costumes
are all in the same, more muted color hue, whereas when the high class is dancing or on stage they
have noticeably ornate costumes. This is an important element to this ballet. It also makes this
difference more easily distinguishable to those people who do not know the whole story line behind
Giselle.
There are two more very noticeable elements of Giselle , facial expression, and body movement. The
facial expression throughout both acts is very noticeable. For example, in Act One, you can see by the
way Giselle looks around; she is very shy and obedient to her mother. By watching her face, you see
her batting her eyes at Albrecht and flirting with him in a very innocent

Sleeping Disorders Research Paper
There are many different types of sleeping disorders that may affect the way you sleep at night and act
during the day. A sleeping disorder is a change in your sleep cycle or a quirk that can negatively affect
your health. They prevent you from getting a good night s sleep. Although they sound harsh, most
sleeping disorders can be treated or can improve with treatment. According to scientists, there are
roughly 80 types of sleeping disorders. Four of the most common ones are: insomnia, sleep apnea,
restless leg syndrome, and narcolepsy. Insomnia is separated into 3 different types: transient, acute,

Sleep apnea is a disorder in which your breathing is interrupted during sleep. There are two separate
forms of sleep apnea, one is obstructive and the other is central. Obstructive sleep apnea is when the
tissue in your throat collapses and blocks your airway, and central sleep apnea is when your brain
doesn t signal your muscles to breathe. This disorder can be caused if you: smoke, are an overweight
male, have high blood pressure, or have a neck circumference larger than 15.75 inches. A few of the
symptoms of sleep apnea are: extremely loud snoring, choking during sleep, shortness of breath,
daytime fatigue, waking up with a sore throat, or using the restroom a lot at night. Sleep apnea can be
treated with a machine called the CPAP device. The CPAP device is a mask machine that provides a

Essay about The Changing of American Families
The Changing of American Families
Television reflects how American families are viewed. Leave it to Beaver and
The Brady Bunch were the ideal families in the 1960 s and 1970 s, and in the 80 s, it was Family Ties.
When the 1990 s approached us, television shows took on a whole new outlook on American Families.
There were shows such as Full House, which was about a single father raising three daughters with the
help of his brother in law and his best friend. Roseanne was also another show that showed the
dysfunctional side of families. American Families keep changing, and they will continue to change in
our future.
Topics such as the changes in family logistics are important to be informed about in this day and age.

More and more women were pushed into the work force. The 1960 s and 1970 s became an era of
diversity and identity politics as a host of others sought recognition and liberation from the constraints
of discriminatory laws, social policies, and negative stereotypes (Erera 354). As more women were
entering the work force, they were becoming financially independent and were able to live on their
own. This led to many women who were unhappy in their marriage to divorce their husbands and raise
their children on their own. As more and more women became financially independent, the more
appealing single life became to them. Soon women all over were adopting and fostering children, and
many also decided to give birth while still remaining single. With the increasing numbers and
visibility of single parent, step, and adoptive families, the gay liberation movement opened the way
for the emergence of gay and lesbian families (Erera 355). Gay and lesbian families were starting to
become more common as the seventies had passed.
The eighties and nineties were a time when everyone was arguing over what a family really was. Erera
states Voices on the right blames changes in the family for a wide range of social problems, while
voices on the left look to the family to provide the basis for a more communitarian society (Erera
356). People were starting to blame the increase of family diversity to almost anything they could.

from the lower ranking engineers. The engineers saw potential danger from a foam strike to the
Columbia. The minutes and audiotapes of NASA s Mission Management Team reveal little discussion
other than from executives. Concerns regarding the foam impacts affect on the integrity of the orbiter
were quickly refocused to a discussion of how much additional maintenance might now be needed to
prepare Columbia for its next flight. Transcribed and audio evidence showed that many NASA

strike on the orbiter is an example. Sometimes the slides presented would have factual errors or errors
in assumptions that an expanded briefing or technical data may have eliminated. The history of foam

Discuss The Knowledge, Ethical Considerations And Skills...
Mediation can play a key role in resolving planning disputes, as the profession of planning is
influenced by various stakeholders with conflicting land use interests. This essay seeks to critically
discuss the knowledge, ethical considerations and skills required in conducting effective mediation
processes. Firstly, this essay provides an overview of mediation and its role in land use planning
disputes. Next, this paper lists the knowledge and training required for effective mediation processes.
Furthermore, this essay critically discusses the communication and analytical skills required in
mediation processes. Next, this paper critically discusses the dilemmas created by the notion of
neutrality or impartiality . At last, this paper focuses on confidentiality as an ethical consideration and
critically discusses the challenges it poses for mediators.
Mediation exist in two main forms, which includes facilitative and evaluative (Sourdin, 2012, pp.69).
However in Australia, the mediator role is considered to be facilitative and evaluative processes are
rather considered to be blended processes, which are not purely defined as mediation (Sourdin, 2012,
pp.69). The Nation Mediation Accreditation System of Australia defines Mediation as a process in
which the participants, with the support of a mediator, identifies issues, develop options, consider
alternatives and make decisions about future actions and outcomes. The mediator acts as a third party
to assist the participants

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Spyware
Spyware is a worldwide scourge that has turned out to be progressively across the board and
pernicious. A May 2005 overview by the Ponemon Institute found that 85% of regular web clients
trust that they have had spyware on their PC, and 86% of those clients said that the spyware brought
on them a direct money related or efficiency misfortune. A sweep of 3 million PC frameworks directed
more than nine months by EarthLink in 2004 discovered 83 million cases of spyware. Spyware is
programming that is introduced on a PC without the information or assent of the client, to gather and
transmit information from the PC. Inside of this definition, be that as it may, there are wide ranges of
sorts of spyware. Some spyware is generally amiable. One case is spyware, which gathers data about
how a client uses a product application and reports that data back to the product merchant. On the off

Spyware may get on to a PC in various ways. Spyware merchants here and there use deceiving or
tricky strategies to urge clients to introduce spyware, for example, by showing a fake message
requesting that clients introduce programming to settle a working framework issue. Spyware may be
secretively introduced on a PC associated with the Internet, which is insufficiently secured.
Frequently, spyware is incorporated as a piece of a bigger programming bundle introduced by the
client. The permit understanding gave the product may neglect to show that spyware will be

Analyzing
Impressionism
Impressionists were seen as artists who were challenging normal and accepted concepts of color and
light. Impressionism got its start when certain painters started to use more natural methods of painting
and lighting their work, really straying from the traditional rules of academic painting and art. In 1874,
a group of artists called the Anonymous Society of Painters, Sculptors, Printmakers, etc. put together
an exhibit in Paris, France(4). Subsequently starting the movement which we know today as
Impressionism. Its founding members included Claude Monet, and Edgar Degas among others. The
group was unified and brought together only by its independence from the official annual Salon (the
Salon was the official art exhibition of the Académie des Beaux Arts in Paris. The salon considered to
be the greatest annual art event in the Western world beginning in 1667) (2).
While many conservative critics disapproved of their work for its unfinished and sketch like
appearance, more progressive writers and critics praised it for its depiction of modern life and enjoyed
it for its contemporary subject matter with an innovative, new and different style calling attention to it
by calling it a revolution in modern painting (3) . To further on the style and history of Impressionism
and post impressionism I will be discussing three works of art exhibiting the unique

Gatsby and Daisy, Tom and Myrtle, and George
The relationship between Tom and Myrtle was different from Gatsby and Daisy s relationship. Tom,
described with physical strength, has his history, abilities, and sensuality that make him right. On the
other hand, his wife, Daisy comes out to be the weakest character from a reader s point of view,
because people ask her for a lot ( Great , Scott). Tom always claimed that he was deeply in love with
Daisy, but every chance he had to leave town he went and slept with Myrtle Wilson. She knew Tom
was married but that did not stop her from loving him. Tom left town one day and decided to drag
Nick along with him. He convinces Myrtle that he wants her to leave with him and Nick on the train to
the apartment on 158th Street (Baker). Myrtle is married to Wilson. After Myrtle buys a puppy, Tom
and her head back to their city apartment along with Nick. The apartment began to flutter with people
as Myrtle had decided to throw a party. Nick was curious to know what their appearance would look
like to an outside observer because the party only merged to get drunker as the puppy sat in the smoky
air ( Great , Novels). In the other room, Tom was having his affair with Myrtle. It was loud enough
that Nick and the women could hear them repeatedly. Nick was shocked that Tom took his wife s
cousin to such a place where he cheated on his wife. That is part of the reason Nick encouraged Daisy
to come to dinner with Gatsby. After a few short drinks, Myrtle starts getting loud. She begins to

Krik Edwidge Danticat Analysis
Sometimes it s relaxing to let other people handle your decisions for you. Other times it s restraining.
The case between Haitians and their government certainly falls on the restricting side. The Haitians
often turn to the only thing they have a chance at their freedom in: death. Edwidge Danticat, author of
Krik? Krak! uses a collection of short stories to educate developed countries on the situation most of
them have been blissfully ignorant of. Danticat uses the symbols of sky and blood to intertwine the
themes of freedom and death. Most of the stories have death as their last choice in life for Haitians,
but not everyone gets it as a choice. Swiss s birth and almost immediate death in Children of the Sea
strike a chord in the boy s heart. He says, If she was my daughter, I would call her Soleil, Sun, Moon,
or Star, after the elements (18). Her death reminds him of the freedom that comes along with it, and
wishes for her entire being to represent it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

gain his greatest wish, but at the cost of spilling much blood. When the foreman asks if he should

Vladek Tragic Figure In Late Into The Maus
Late into the Maus narrative, a series of squared panels depicts a series of events which leads the
readers from a state of unease to one of triumph for the characters. The story has led the reader to
Sosnowiec, once the home to Vladek and his family but now depicted as a somber and precarious
location through the use of darker shadowing and an accelerando pace when compared to Sosnowiec
earlier on in the novel. Vladek is shown walking, followed behind is a mysterious figure. The reader s
first glimpse of the figure is on the third panel, where his face is revealed. Because of the
classification system the book has taught, the reader will most likely assume that the figure following
Vladek is a pole. His pig like appearance is engraved into the reader s mind as meaning pole, just the
same as cat means Nazi/German, and mouse means Jew. The Jews are undoubtedly a race, but they are
not human . A quote by Adolf ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the man following Vladek is identified as Jew, the reader is shown the strings of the mask hiding
his mouse face. Throughout the book, the use of this mask is prominent. On page 155, we are shown
the Nazis discovering Vladek and Anja through metaphorically (and literally) taking off their masks.
On page 6 Spiegelman first introduced these masks, You re a pole like me states Vladek to a train
man, and unaware of Vladek s true identity he sees the mask . The physical masks in the books are
apparent, which leads the reader to question as to how other characters in the book do not notice them.
If Art Spiegelman implies that the characters do not notice others disguises , then he is also implying
that the characters in the book do not see each other races. The manifestation of animals depicting race

Introduction
A swimming pool is one of the main factors for almost everyone in summer. Swimming pools can be
either built above or below ground and can be constructed from many different materials. However for
a pool to be safe to swim in, the water must maintain low levels of bacteria and viruses to avoid the
spread of diseases and pathogens. If a pool is not properly sanitised, then it will become unsafe and
unhygienic to use. If a pool were to be sanitised correctly, then the water will be kept at a correct pH
level. The pH levels of a pool are one of the most important elements when looking at how to
maintain a safe pool. It affects every other chemical balance in the pool water, however on a hot
summer day in Brisbane, how does the sunlight affect the chlorine levels of the pool? How does this
affect the pH levels? How does this UV light affect the equilibriums in a pool? What systems are there
in a pool? pH of the Swimming Pool
The sunlight in Brisbane is a very vital factor in pool equilibrium, as the sunlight breaks down the
chlorine in the pool. However this breakdown of chlorine is indirect. This occurs due to the fact that
different types of bacteria grow a lot quicker in heated up water. When this bacteria increases, more ...

There are many different molecules which can act as buffers. To maintain a desired pH range of a
pool, sodium bicarbonate can be added into the pool. Apart from sodium bicarbonate, sodium
hypochlorite (NaClO) and calcium hypochlorite can also act as buffers for a pool. However instead of
keeping a steady pH, these chemicals can gradually increase the pH levels. Acids salts (NaHSO_4)
can be used to lower it. In some pools, carbon dioxide is bubbled into the pool water to lower the pH
by altering the bicarbonate equilibrium. To shift this equilibrium, sodium carbonate is used to increase

The Cold Of Cold Calling
Cold calling is a bit of a dirty word in the sales world. Most individuals you interview hate receiving
cold calls, whilst even the sales representatives have a dislike for the practice. Yet, it remains an
important strategy for many companies and it has the potential to provide plenty of benefits to a
business if only conducted properly.
This guide will look at what cold calling is all about, the reason it has a bad name and the advantages
it has for businesses. You ll learn about the core buildings blocks of a cold calling strategy and the
keys to a good call.
What is cold calling all about?
The practice of cold calling refers to a situation where a business contacts potential customers without
their anticipation of such an interaction. It is essentially a technique where the business approaches
individuals without knowledge that they are interested.
You shouldn t confuse it with the opposite practice of warm calling, where the business has prior
knowledge to suggest to person contacted is interested in the product. Cold calling can sometimes also
be mistakenly identified as telemarketing. Whilst cold calling is a form of telemarketing,
telemarketing is not limited to using cold calling as a strategy. In telemarketing, there is often prior
research involved and it often includes further call ups with the individual or business.
Cold calling strategies typically refer to phone calls, but cold calling can also entail different methods.
For example, drop in visits can

Differences between Lives in Solingen and Phoenix
As I arrived at Phoenix in September of 1999, I was very excited to see this famous city and it s

different than my town in Germany, Solingen. It s a not a big city but it is a very beautiful one with
many small streets and small houses around them. I had even the impression that the life in Germany

the stores or places where you could have go out were pretty far away from our apartment. Mostly I
needed a car to go out somewhere. The buses are stationed only on few places and they arrive in very
long intervals. So after a time, we realized that we had to buy a car. In contrast to Phoenix, during our
time in Solingen, we used the car mostly for longer trips. The whole city was connected with bus lines
and they were coming to the bus stations every ten minutes. If we had to go somewhere in the city, we
used mostly the buses. We saved our gas money and were there always on time.
While in Phoenix you have problems to find the time to go out with your friends, in Solingen, I was
most of the time able to plan something at a short time. Every day after the school, I went to the
downtown of Solingen with some friends or alone and we were walking through the streets full of
stores and joking around. I did this almost every day in the week. On the weekends there were many
places to go out with friends like many clubs and cafe s in Solingen or in the bigger towns next to us

time. People from all West Germany came over to these streets to have fun. So it was never boring
even in a small town like Solingen. I could always do something if I was bored.

Philip Zimbardo is an emeritus professor at the Stanford University and has spent the past 50 years
studying and teaching psychology. With a Ph.D. from Yale University, Zimbardo specializes and
focuses on several areas such as terrorism, madness and evil. Zimbardo is most well known for the
infamous Stanford Prison Study that was carried out in 1971. The experiment tested college students
and their tendency to attribute the causes of their behavior to personal factors and the chances of
underestimating the influence of situational conditions. The aim of his experiment was to reveal how
social roles might influence a person s behavior. Twenty four college students were asked to role play
as prisoners (twelve) and guards (twelve) for a course of two weeks. By the sixth day of the
experiment, Zimbardo (superintendent) had to stop the whole study due to the lack of ethical

Types Of Resource Based Policies That Education Policymakers

Introduction:
There are three types of resource based policies that education policymakers typically consider: Total
Resource Policies, Input Policies, and Output Policies. The proposed policy of setting a maximum
class size of 14 in East Lansing public schools is a type of input policy. Input policies, as the name
suggests, alter a particular input into education, such as teacher quality, class size or the quality of
school facilities. It is generally believed that the input that has the largest effect on student
achievement is class size and as such this type of policy has been getting the most attention among
economists.

Class size as one of the most affection of input policy, although reducing class size cost a lot, it brings
a high achievement of students. School should reduce the class size as measured by the student teacher
ratio. Oxford Review of Economic Policy, Joshua Angrist (2004) provides a clear summary of the
current connection between research evidence and policy implementation related to class size
reduction initiatives under relatively ideal circumstances (in particular, given long enough lead time
and funding adequate to reduce class size without compromising other educational inputs), class size
reductions can increase test scores. This is an important result and a performance standard that many
and perhaps most programs, however well intentioned, do not live up to.
Potential costs and benefits
Generally, reducing class size is attractive to both parents, students and teachers. According to Eugene
M. Lewit and Linda Schuurmann Baker, one recent national poll found that 70% of adults believe that
reducing class size would result in substantial improvements in public schools and less than 10%
believed it would have no impact. Here we will discuss many of the potential costs and benefits that
reducing class size may bring to students, schools and the society. (Lewit and Baker, pg 1) Of all the

concept is present in William Shakespeare s play, Macbeth, which is a tragic play demonstrating the
effects of absolute power and corruption. The characters, especially the women, are heavily influential
and greatly impactful in the growth of others. Lady Macbeth s actions greatly shape and develop the
personality and motivations of Macbeth, leading to his ultimate demise. Although Duncan dies at the
hand of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth plays a key role in manipulating him to complete the murder.
Following the news that her husband will soon become king, Lady Macbeth realizes she does not want
to wait. She wants to be queen as soon as possible and for Macbeth to be successful, but she is aware
that Macbeth is not capable of killing King Duncan. Thus, Lady Macbeth takes it upon herself to
convince her husband that killing the king is just, which is present in her soliloquy as she says, Hi thee

How Did The Scottsboro Trial Impact America
The Scottsboro trial impacted America as a whole. The nine men being convicted of rape did not have
a fair trial. During the 1930s, America was in a time of very serious segregation. If a black man
supposedly slept with a Southern white women they would be lynched. A specific example of this
would be when the Scottsboro boys were going to jail, a crowd of over 100 people tried to lynch them
(Douglas O. Linder). In the time period, America had many race riots, so this incident would not be
surprising. The Black men were trailed in separate cases (Linder). They were found guilty, an obvious
verdict because of their ethnicity. The southerners believed that Blacks were criminals and should be
sentenced to death if they were accused of committing

Augustus Principate Analysis
The settlement of 27 BC and 23 BC leave little doubt about where real power lay. The settlement
through the two of these constitutional arrangements has some roles that it is needed to be conformed
in the development of Augustus principate because they were a decisive role in the establishment of
Augustus principate. Augustus has used sundry political strategies to obtain control in Rome. These
successful strategies, has been suitably evolved in Augustus gaining his superior power in various
districts essentially the Roman army and increasing the founding of his developing Principate. Two
roles and responsibilities of the settlements are Judicial, Senatorial court plus two consuls tried people

The settlement of 23 BC had two main elements, Augustus gave up the position of consul, and the
proconsul imperium was now demand to be superior to that of a governor of any other province.
During 23 BC, Augustus was granted Tribunician Authority for life, he now had the power to legislate
in the assemblies which also led him to summon the senate. He was given the authority to sit between
the consuls and granted consular imperium Rome so he did not need to become Consul for life. He did
not protect individuals against the actions of magistrates but sadly Augustus gave up consul because

Essay on The Rise of European Secularism in the 19th Century
SP History 117 Final Exam One May 23, 2013 The Rise of European Secularism During the
Nineteenth Century Word Count: 2,152 In Europe, the long nineteenth century, (1789 1914) was a
tumultuous era of political, economic, and social revolution which created an increasingly secular
culture. Europeans of all races and classes looked outside the church to solve societal and familial
issues. Gifted intellectuals proposed new philosophies on human thought and behavior, while
innovative communication allowed ideas to travel quicker and easier than ever before. By the early
1800 s, Europeans began to question the role and necessity of the church and religion in their lives.
Revolutionaries developed political and social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Enlightenment philosophers, like Voltaire, railed against organized theocracies and argued that
religion prevented rational inquiry while it endorsed repression, tyranny and war. The philosophy of
Immanuel Kant, who sought, liberation of the human mind from the dogmatic state of ignorance, had
a major impact on the future ideology of revolutionaries.4 It was Enlightenment ideas which
challenged people to question religious orthodoxy and use their own intelligence to draw conclusions
about the legitimacy of traditional authority. These philosophies were the foundation of modern,
egalitarian, democratic societies which would later replace Louis XVI s absolutist monarchy.
Enlightenment ideals had profound effects upon the politics of the early and mid nineteenth century.
However, a severe backlash against rationalism and liberal ideologies in France caused the return of
church state power; while conversely, in the state of Prussia, Enlightenment ideals inspired a
suppression of the church s power.5 Whether or not Enlightenment ideals and values were able to root
themselves permanently in society, the introduction and widespread acceptance of secular ideas
created major changes across Europe. After the Revolution in France, the old absolutist monarchy was
replaced by the Constitution of 1791, and King Louis XVI was forced to share power with an elected
legislative body in the new constitutional monarchy. In a rather

John Locke, a British Philosopher, Studied the Knowledge...
John Locke (b. 1632, d. 1704) was a British philosopher, Oxford academic and medical researcher.
Locke s monumental An Essay Concerning Human Understanding (1689) is one of the first great
defenses of empiricism and concerns itself with determining the limits of human understanding in
respect to a wide spectrum of topics. It thus tells us in some detail what one can legitimately claim to
know and what one cannot. Locke s association with Anthony Ashley Cooper (later the First Earl of
Shaftesbury) led him to become successively a government official charged with collecting
information about trade and colonies, economic writer, opposition political activist, and finally a
revolutionary whose cause ultimately triumphed in the Glorious Revolution of 1688. Among Locke s
political works he is most famous for The Second Treatise of Government in which he argues that
sovereignty resides in the people and explains the nature of legitimate government in terms of natural
rights and the social contract. He is also famous for calling for the separation of Church and State in
his Letter Concerning Toleration. Much of Locke s work is characterized by opposition to
authoritarianism. This is apparent both on the level of the individual person and on the level of
institutions such as government and church. For the individual, Locke wants each of us to use reason
to search after truth rather than simply accept the opinion of authorities or be subject to superstition.
He wants us to

Milkman And Hagar Essay
1.1. Milkman s lover Hagar
At the same time as Milkman has less air for breathing at home, he gets to know his cousin Hagar and
is introduced to her as a brother. Although Reba corrects her mother Pilate by saying, That ain t her
brother, Mama. They cousins , Pilate counters, I mean what s the difference in the way you act toward
em? Don t you have to act the same way to both? (Morrison 54). This first encounter sets the basis of
Hagar s and Milkman s relationship. Pilate makes clear that family is family no matter the degree of
kinship. Accordingly, Pilate tries to predetermine how Hagar should regard her cousin and this
conversely reveals the incestuous nature of Milkman and Hagar s coming relationship.
Notwithstanding, Morrison writes that From the first time he saw her, when he was twelve and she
was seventeen, he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the first years, Hagar does not pay much attention to Milkman and he perceived her as a distant
creature (113) while she views him as a puppy since she is the older of them (114). In the course of
time, their relationship changes and Milkman realizes that he no longer feels attracted to her. From
this moment forth, Hagar makes Milkman the center of her life by becoming the active since Milkman
no longer chases her (Qasim and Asmat 193). Apparently Milkman loses interest when he seems to
own her. Interestingly, this relationship is primarily depicted as a physical one. This directly results in
the fact that Milkman s interest is primarily of a sexual nature, but does not truly love or value her. So
it is not surprising that, instead of recognizing true love, he describes Hagar as the third beer. Not the
first one, which the throat receives with almost tearful gratitude; nor the second, that confirms and
extends the pleasure of the first. But the third, the one you drink because it s there, because it can t

Lindbergh Baby Case

Kaplan University
The justice system s major components are: police, courts, and corrections. Police are public officials
whose purpose is to maintain order and enforce the criminal law. Police officers work in the
community to prevent and control crime within their jurisdiction. This includes, but is not limited to:
speeding, illegal use of drugs, violence, and disruptive behavior. The police cooperate with
prosecutors in criminal investigations and help to provide evidence to obtain convictions in the courts.

Condon, totaling to a staggering thirteen notes; some of which the Lindbergh s provided the ransom
money in gold certificates. All of the ransom notes were written in German penmanship and had
countless grammar errors. Suspects in the case included: Charles and Anne Lindbergh, Elisabeth
Morrow, Betty Gow, Oliver and Elsie Whately, and Bruno Richard Hauptmann. Charles Sr. was a
suspect because of his suspicious actions during the night Charles Jr. was taken as well as throughout
the investigation. He was in the study directly below his son s nursery when he was taken and only
heard a sound to which he suspected was something dropping in the kitchen. He was also the person
who found the first ransom letter, after the police, Anne, and Betty Gow had searched the room for
evidence. Anne was a suspect because she was also in the home at the time of the kidnapping. Resting
in her room, due to a cold, she did not hear any suspicious noises. Anne s sister, Elisabeth Morrow,
was suspected of the crime as well. She was initially romantically involved with Charles Lindbergh,
Sr. until he announced his engagement to Anne. Over time she became both physically and
emotionally ill. Fits of violence made her staff believe that she had killed her own dog, and she was
not allowed to be alone with Charles Lindbergh, Jr. for fear that she would harm him in one of her fits.
Oliver and Elsie Whately were suspects because they were in the home at the time that the crime took
place.

Thomas King Baby In The Airmail Box Summary
The Baby in the Airmail Box by Thomas King is a delightful read with underlining issues of race, and
social criticism. From two perspectives the story is narrated by Bob and Linda the Alberta Child
Placement Agency and Orena from the Rocky Creek First Nations. Through the various perspectives
King establishes a juxtaposition and parallel shift in society, while incorporating satire and irony to
expose, express and criticize what society called the Sixties Scoop. With this being said, readers
acknowledge King s use of satire, irony and opinions of race to create a humorous social critique.
King s use of satire and irony allows him to create a juxtaposition of the Sixties Scoop. The author
places his First Nation characters in the position

Human Story In Life Of Pi
Have you ever been stranded in the middle of the ocean with a 450 pound adult bengal tiger? Well
according to Pi Patel he has and survived nearly 300 days in that predicament. In the book Life of Pi,
Yann Martel s character Piscine Molitor Pi Patel survives a shipwreck and ends up on a lifeboat with a
variety of animals one of which being a bengal tiger. The story starts out with Pi telling the author he
can make him believe in God with his story. Throughout the story Pi tells a great tale of his
experiences on the lifeboat with the tiger but the only thing is that s exactly what it is, a tale. The real
story comes at the end of the book when two Japanese men question Pi about the sinking of the
Tsimtsum and Pi tells a different story because the men did not believe the animal one. The second
story has humans instead of animals therefore making it the more reasonable story. So the human story
is real because it is the more feasible option, being alone for a very extended amount of time can cause
a person to lose their sanity, and some of the things that Pi mentioned were a little far fetched.
The human story is the all around most reasonable story obviously. There is no way that Pi could
survive nearly 300 days with such a big predator. Also being on a lifeboat with very limited resources
it is clear that a bengal tiger would take advantage of Pi being there and kill him. Like stated in the
book animals do not think about what they are doing, I don t think about it.

  • 2. The Reformation And The Protestant Reformation The 16th century reformation is also known as the Protestant reformation. There are a various number of causes for the Protestant reformation. The causes of the reformation will be analyzed from two different perspectives: Germany s causes and Europe s causes. The results of reformation will be examined. Major contributors such as Martin Luther and John Calvin s perspectives and contributions will also be analyzed and the impact they had during their time period. People in Europe during the early 16th century faced a lot personal grievances with the church. This provoked a reformation which is known as the Protestant reformation. The reformation began in 1517, and ended in 1648. The ideas of people such as Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Henry VIII caught several peoples eye because of this. They provided different views, and ideas that many never thought about. Europe and Germany had different reasons for the reformation, and because of this had different outcomes. Martin Luther was a german university professor and a priest who challenged some of the church s doctrines. Mr. Luther was concerned with sin and penance for those sins; he challenged the idea of buying indulgences, which were believed to bring forgiveness for all sins. Luther wrote Ninety five Theses on the Power of Indulgences ; which stated that indulgences undermined the seriousness of the sacrament of penance, completed with the preaching of the gospel, and downplayed the importance of charity in ... Evaluating student s abilities to comprehend text and science concepts is a major component because it helps the teacher know how their student s literacy skills are developing (Rakes Smith, 1992). However, it has not inflamed a whole scale political and social crisis more seriously anywhere than in the United States during the nineteenth century. People who were forced, kidnapped or passively born to be slaves were not only required to perform endless labor, but also tortured, suppressed and bestially destroyed in numerous heartless ways physically and mentally. However, a few decades before the outbreak of the civil war, it was barely possible for the people in the north to know about the details of how the slaves lived in the south due to several factors such as the limit of communications. They were always whipped for hours, often beaten with hoes and sticks, and sometimes killed as animals by their cruel masters with no pity and compassion at all, which was also not illegal. There is one very scary but reflective example presented by Douglass in his narrative that a woman slave was killed brutally by her mistress because she just had a rest while the baby whom she took care of was crying. Behind this, she was actually kept working every night and rarely had a nap. A trivial mistake shockingly cost her life to pay for the baby s cry. According to many more details by Douglass, those slaves lived in a life in which they not only needed to keep worrying about what to eat and when to take a break, but also needed to never stop thinking about how they should behave like an infallible machine in order to escape from their masters s bloody cowskins. In a word, slaves were deprived of the right to work hard to earn a living, and became the livestocks which were forced by human to do whatever they needed them to do, which also meant they could be tortured or killed just for the same reason why an animal could be killed. • 5. Questions On The Mathematics Of Math Mathematics to me, is complex numbers with only one correct answer involving numbers and other unknown variables. There are formulas where you plug numbers into and solving for the x variable. I would consider myself somewhat good at math I do not always get a concept right away but I will work through the difficulty until I discover how to understand the concept at hand. I will study and persevere until the challenge at hand is resolved. Usually, I am a quick learner which allows me to understand math fairly quickly and at a easy rate. However, there are some parts of math that come more naturally to me than others. For example, in precalculus I found graphing more straight forward and easy to understand. Where as with trigonomic functions where I had to make both sides equal the same functions I tended to get confused quicker. This happened because there were multiple ways to get to the same answer and multiple answers so I felt like there was no one correct way. There was lots of variation and flexibility and there was less structure so it went against the usual ways I learn math. I was forced to change the way I had traditionally learned math. To learn math means that you are being shown daily applications such as keeping track of money, figuring out a budget, seeing how much space you have in your room, and so forth. There are tons of daily applications for math some of which I don t even fully realize. When I do realize how math has helped in my daily life I tend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Further detail will be discussed in relation to these guidelines during the following evaluation. Attention will also be paid to how these guidelines can be applied to IPA analysis. Main Body The article, Understanding feelings of anger using IPA (Smith Eatough, 2006), has two key focus areas. Firstly is the use of IPA. Secondly is the understanding and interpretation of anger as experienced by the individual. Throughout the article, each section explains how the method, IPA is utilised. The purpose of the article is to illuminate how ..., anger, emotion related feelings, thoughts and expressions appear to the individual (Smith Eatough, 2006). • 7. Pros And Cons Of The Gold Standard THE GOLD STANDARD IN THE INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC SYSTEM During the late nineteenth century, the global economy was characterized by use of a gold standard. The gold standard helped to unite the economies of the world s nations, thereby leading to increased prosperity and stability. The success of the gold standard was related to the particular circumstances of the time. As conditions changed, the gold standard became less viable and was eventually dropped. This paper will describe the pros and cons of the gold standard as it existed in the nineteenth century. In this way, an explanation will be provided for why the gold standard rose to prominence and then declined. The gold standard is a monetary system in which the value of a nation s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the main advantages of the gold standard is that it created an international monetary system that helped to unite the world s national economies. This resulted in smoother trade between nations, which led to greater prosperity and innovation. In the words of one economics historian, gold, it is conventionally argued, commanded an unstoppable advantage and momentum because it promised greater price and exchange stability than silver, closer integration with the world s financial centres, and, consequently, cheaper capital from abroad (Balachandran 316). According to another writer on the subject, the single monetary system, based on the gold standard, resulted in the global economy being relatively stable during the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. Thus, the era from the beginning of Queen Victoria s reign until the outbreak of World War I was one of the most stable periods in monetary history, and it produced the greatest general prosperity known in history to that time (Weatherford 159). Another benefit of the gold standard is that it enabled nations to turn to the use of paper currency, which was backed by gold. The use of currency increased the convenience in making financial transactions. This, in turn, led to a dramatic increase in the use of money. Therefore, paper expanded the role of money to new markets, new applications, and new clients (Weatherford 141). In addition, the use of paper currency ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Effects Of Global Warming On The Earth s Atmosphere... Global warming occurs due to an increase in the average temperature of the earth s atmosphere. Various reasons as discussed in task 3 lead to the rise in temperature around the earth. The reasons include deforestation, burning fossil fuels, increase in human population and increase in the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses such as methane, chlorofluorocarbons, nitrous oxide and water vapor in the atmosphere. (Dai, 2013) Greenhouse gasses are produced when fossil fuels or wood is burned. In other cases, when plants rot, carbon and methane are released into the atmosphere. Global warming can be controlled through the following ways: preservation of forests, minimal use of fossil fuels in energy production, efficient use of energy and use of low carbon or zero carbon technology. Conservation of forests: Forests can be preserved through prevention of deforestation and through planting more trees. The importance of forests in controlling global warming applies where the trees use up carbon dioxide during photosynthesis and therefore reduce the carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere. Carbon, which is a component of carbon dioxide, is stored in the trees and is necessary for tree growth. Therefore, preservation of trees ensures minimal circulation of carbon and its products in the atmosphere. (Spies A.S. Mori, 2013) Deforestation has currently become a daily activity and the number of trees affected is massive. Deforestation can be discouraged through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Professors of Biology Shearer and Bermingham in their article The Ethics of Paediatric Anti Depressant Use: Erring on the Side of Caution argue that prescribing antidepressants to youth is a simplistic approach to a complex issue and should be severely restricted by physicians and strictly enforced by parents. Paediatric depression (depression that usually affects youth ages five to eighteen, or in some cases, individuals up to age twenty one) is on the rise, and is quickly becoming a significant issue in today s society. Recent estimates have placed its prevalence at a combined percentage of between two and seven percent for those between the ages of six and eighteen years old. Identified by a range of symptoms including: low mood, anhedonia [the inability to feel pleasure], defiance, pessimism, morbid thoughts and somatic symptoms, (710) adolescent depression, very similar to adult depression, takes a toll on the lives of adolescent youth and often alters their personalities, actions and behaviors. Don t you worry about adding too many notches to your belt? How many people have you slept with really? You re definitely getting into trashy territory Rachel. Many times I have heard variations of these quotations being said throughout my life. The real trash is policing someone s sexuality. Slut is a derogatory term used to degrade women s sexuality. In this text I will outline the problems and the harm that slut shaming bestows on women and their sexuality. Slut shaming is detrimental to women s psychological morale, her political standings, and her role and power in society and relationships. In order to better understand slut shaming, an explanation as to why it is a phenomenon in today s society needs to be given. One of my biggest concerns is the fluid usage of the word slut or whore. This phenomenon of slut shaming is mostly seen with teenagers and young adults and thus this is the group I will be focusing on. Young women and men seem to define a slut differently. Women define a slut as 1. A woman who is sexually active, 2. A woman who wears a lot of makeup, 3. A woman who dresses suggestively, 4. A woman who, despite her unpopularity, tries to get the attention of boys, 5. A woman who is assumed to be sexually advanced because her body is more developed, 6. Critical Race Theory And Conflict Theory Paper Critical Race Theory and Conflict Theory Society contains groups with diverse interests, where competing interests encourage conflict (Hutchison, 2013). The racial ideology in the United States is the belief in a hierarchy of races with whites at the top and other races grouped underneath (Robbins, Chatterjee, Canda, 2011). One way minorities are depicted as different from whites is through imagery that creates detachment and seclusion between groups (Ortiz Jani, 2010). Critical Race Theory Critical race theory (CRT) assumes this society was created to empower White people; CRT is focused on transforming the relationships between race and racial power assembled by law and culture (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). This theory suggests that racism is embedded in American society (Helms, 2006), looking at how racial pride in being White can be exhibited in tolerable ways or as White superiority (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). This ballet was originally performed in Paris in 1841. The production that we viewed in class was from La Salla. Giselle is one of the last ballets of the Romantic era. The element that stood out the most to me was how effectively the music and the footwork corresponded. The best examples of this are seen through the dancers solos. Additionally, the choreographer, made excellent use of the stage space. There was a good variation of movement across the stage, without unnecessary distraction. Furthermore, in Giselle the viewer notices are the difference in costumes, compared with today s more contemporary ballets. Giselle is dressed as a girl, not like a typical ballerina. The length of her skirt is very long, but stops short enough for you to allow seeing her footwork. There is also a clear distinction among the high society and the peasants. When the peasants are dancing, their costumes are all in the same, more muted color hue, whereas when the high class is dancing or on stage they have noticeably ornate costumes. This is an important element to this ballet. It also makes this difference more easily distinguishable to those people who do not know the whole story line behind Giselle. There are two more very noticeable elements of Giselle , facial expression, and body movement. The facial expression throughout both acts is very noticeable. Vladek Tragic Figure In Late Into The Maus Late into the Maus narrative, a series of squared panels depicts a series of events which leads the readers from a state of unease to one of triumph for the characters. The story has led the reader to Sosnowiec, once the home to Vladek and his family but now depicted as a somber and precarious location through the use of darker shadowing and an accelerando pace when compared to Sosnowiec earlier on in the novel. Vladek is shown walking, followed behind is a mysterious figure. The reader s first glimpse of the figure is on the third panel, where his face is revealed. Because of the classification system the book has taught, the reader will most likely assume that the figure following Vladek is a pole. His pig like appearance is engraved into the reader s mind as meaning pole, just the same as cat means Nazi/German, and mouse means Jew. The Jews are undoubtedly a race, but they are not human . On page 6 Spiegelman first introduced these masks, You re a pole like me states Vladek to a train man, and unaware of Vladek s true identity he sees the mask . The physical masks in the books are apparent, which leads the reader to question as to how other characters in the book do not notice them. If Art Spiegelman implies that the characters do not notice others disguises , then he is also implying that the characters in the book do not see each other races. • 28. Pool Chemistry Research Paper Pool Chemistry Artin Kalantari Due Date: 14/08/2014 Mrs. Josephs Introduction A swimming pool is one of the main factors for almost everyone in summer. Swimming pools can be either built above or below ground and can be constructed from many different materials. However for a pool to be safe to swim in, the water must maintain low levels of bacteria and viruses to avoid the spread of diseases and pathogens. If a pool is not properly sanitised, then it will become unsafe and unhygienic to use. If a pool were to be sanitised correctly, then the water will be kept at a correct pH level. The pH levels of a pool are one of the most important elements when looking at how to maintain a safe pool. It affects every other chemical balance in the pool water, however on a hot summer day in Brisbane, how does the sunlight affect the chlorine levels of the pool? How does this affect the pH levels? How does this UV light affect the equilibriums in a pool? What systems are there in a pool? pH of the Swimming Pool The sunlight in Brisbane is a very vital factor in pool equilibrium, as the sunlight breaks down the chlorine in the pool. However this breakdown of chlorine is indirect. This occurs due to the fact that different types of bacteria grow a lot quicker in heated up water. When this bacteria increases, more ... This guide will look at what cold calling is all about, the reason it has a bad name and the advantages it has for businesses. You ll learn about the core buildings blocks of a cold calling strategy and the keys to a good call. What is cold calling all about? The practice of cold calling refers to a situation where a business contacts potential customers without their anticipation of such an interaction. It is essentially a technique where the business approaches individuals without knowledge that they are interested. You shouldn t confuse it with the opposite practice of warm calling, where the business has prior knowledge to suggest to person contacted is interested in the product. Locke s monumental An Essay Concerning Human Understanding (1689) is one of the first great defenses of empiricism and concerns itself with determining the limits of human understanding in respect to a wide spectrum of topics. It thus tells us in some detail what one can legitimately claim to know and what one cannot. Locke s association with Anthony Ashley Cooper (later the First Earl of Shaftesbury) led him to become successively a government official charged with collecting information about trade and colonies, economic writer, opposition political activist, and finally a revolutionary whose cause ultimately triumphed in the Glorious Revolution of 1688. Among Locke s political works he is most famous for The Second Treatise of Government in which he argues that sovereignty resides in the people and explains the nature of legitimate government in terms of natural rights and the social contract. He is also famous for calling for the separation of Church and State in his Letter Concerning Toleration. Much of Locke s work is characterized by opposition to authoritarianism. This is apparent both on the level of the individual person and on the level of institutions such as government and church. He was in the study directly below his son s nursery when he was taken and only heard a sound to which he suspected was something dropping in the kitchen. He was also the person who found the first ransom letter, after the police, Anne, and Betty Gow had searched the room for evidence. Anne was a suspect because she was also in the home at the time of the kidnapping. Resting in her room, due to a cold, she did not hear any suspicious noises. Anne s sister, Elisabeth Morrow, was suspected of the crime as well. She was initially romantically involved with Charles Lindbergh, Sr. until he announced his engagement to Anne. Over time she became both physically and emotionally ill. Fits of violence made her staff believe that she had killed her own dog, and she was not allowed to be alone with Charles Lindbergh, Jr. for fear that she would harm him in one of her fits. Oliver and Elsie Whately were suspects because they were in the home at the time that the crime took place. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Human Story In Life Of Pi Have you ever been stranded in the middle of the ocean with a 450 pound adult bengal tiger? Well according to Pi Patel he has and survived nearly 300 days in that predicament. In the book Life of Pi, Yann Martel s character Piscine Molitor Pi Patel survives a shipwreck and ends up on a lifeboat with a variety of animals one of which being a bengal tiger. The story starts out with Pi telling the author he can make him believe in God with his story. Throughout the story Pi tells a great tale of his experiences on the lifeboat with the tiger but the only thing is that s exactly what it is, a tale. The real story comes at the end of the book when two Japanese men question Pi about the sinking of the Tsimtsum and Pi tells a different story because the men did not believe the animal one. The second story has humans instead of animals therefore making it the more reasonable story. So the human story is real because it is the more feasible option, being alone for a very extended amount of time can cause a person to lose their sanity, and some of the things that Pi mentioned were a little far fetched. The human story is the all around most reasonable story obviously. There is no way that Pi could survive nearly 300 days with such a big predator. Also being on a lifeboat with very limited resources it is clear that a bengal tiger would take advantage of Pi being there and kill him. Like stated in the book animals do not think about what they are doing, I don t think about it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
