Racism And Ethnic Separation Of The United States
Racism and ethnic separation in the United States has been a noteworthy issue subsequent to the
provincial period and the slave time. Legitimately or socially endorsed benefits and rights were given
to White Americans that were not allowed to Native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans,
and Latin Americans. European Americans (especially Anglo Americans) were conceded select
benefits in matters of training, migration, voting rights, citizenship, land procurement, and criminal
method over timeframes reaching out from the seventeenth century to the 1960s. Be that as it may,
non Protestant workers from Europe; especially Irish individuals, Poles and Italians; endured
xenophobic prohibition and different types of ethnicity based segregation in American culture. Also,
albeit Middle Eastern Americans are considered White under the US Census, Jews (counting settlers
from the Diaspora and from Israel itself) and Arabs have confronted persistent separation in the United
States, and thus, a few individuals having a place with these gatherings don t recognize as white. East
and South Asians have also confronted racism in America and are normally not considered white
America has more than once been at war, from the Revolutionary period to Vietnam. As a
consequence of these wars American culture has endured episodes of neurosis, racial preference and
segregation. Which racial gathering, ethnic minority or ideological convictions are oppressed

Funeral Cover
Two things are certain in life taxes and death. However, we can deal with taxes, but losing a loved one
is the most painful feeling in the world. Death is not a topic we spend too much time thinking about,
because of which, when the inevitable strikes to our loved ones, we find ourselves with not having
enough cash for the funeral arrangement. Funeral cover, also called funeral insurance, are designed to
offer your family with money to pay for the funeral arrangements. As the cost of funeral arrangements
is going up every year, buying a funeral cover is the obvious and best choice. But still funeral cover is
not a widely known concept. Not to worry, here are some of the benefits of purchasing a funeral cover.

The Theory Of Social Learning Theory
This essay will demonstrate a knowledge and understanding and discuss the concept of social learning
theory, whilst taking into consideration and explaining the way children learn and develop. This essay
will focus on the overall concept of this theory and will explore the work of the theorist Albert
Bandura and how he contributes to the role of the adult and their understanding of social learning.
This essay will then examine the work of Urie Bronfenbrenner in relation to the work of Bandura.
Using this theoretical perspective it can benefit the adult by understanding of children s learning and
social development. Furthermore, this essay will link into practical and reflect upon and analyse the
relationship between theory and practice.
Social learning theory suggests that people learn from one another, this can be through observation,
imitation, media and modelling. This theory is often known as the behaviourist theory and cognitive
learning theory because it consists of using attention, memory, behaviour and motivation. Social
learning theory advocates that individuals, especially children, imitate or copy modelled behaviour
from personally observing others, the environment and the mass media . (Gray and MacBlain, 2015).
This is stating that a child will look up to someone they respect and class them as models, the child
may imitate their behaviour and the way they act. If a child s behaviour is then reinforced the
behaviour will occur again. This theory consists of

Likert Scales
The national government agency wants to examine the levels of organizational attachment its
employees experience. The memo wants to determine why employees feel uninspired at work. In
addition, the memo wants to ascertain the leadership style used by supervisors and entire management
on their subordinates and whether this agency has any motivation strategies for its employees, and
whether the management communicates organizational goals and mission to the subordinates. Failure
to communicate organizational goals, lack of motivation strategies, and poor choice of leadership style
can create unconducive work environment while the proper choice of leadership style, the availability
of motivation strategies, and the shared mission and goals improves ... Show more content on

Based on the responses that I will get from the survey, I will give the analysis on whether it is through
inappropriate leadership style, lack of motivation strategies, failure to communicate the mission and
goals of the agency, and of lack of participative management in this agency. Furthermore, I will advise
the management according on how to address the concerns of their employees. Nine survey questions
will use the Likert scales which come in many variations from strongly disagree to strongly agree. The
advantage of Likert scales is that they demonstrate order and the absence of distance between
categories. The last question is the general question that wants to ascertain the employee s additional
comments which the questions have not addressed. There are two sections in this survey and the first
section focuses on leadership style of the agency. It tries to ascertain how it contributes to the current
situation in the agency. The last section focuses on motivation as the Partnership for Public Service
reports state that employees who feel connected to agency missions are more satisfied and

Coherentism and Foundationalism
Foundationalism vs. Coherentism Throughout history, philosophers have been trying to come up with
a clear way to provide the justification of our beliefs and knowledge. Noah Lemos offers readers
explanations of both foundationalism and coherentism for theories of justification. These two different
theories offer very different ways to explain the basis of our beliefs. For a foundationalist, they believe
that all of our beliefs can be broken down until we reach a basic belief. This belief would be largely
independent of other beliefs and not derived from other beliefs. A coherentist feels that a belief can be
reasonably justified if it is coheres with our other beliefs. The foundationalist theory of justification
boils everything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A coherentist however, would justify that the pot is hot through other beliefs that cohere with this
belief. Some of these coherent beliefs would be: the remaining coffee in the pot is hot, the coffee is
freshly brewed which would mean it is hot, I can see steam coming from the coffee in my mug, the
coffee I ve had every other day this week from the same pot have been hot and I can feel the warmth
from the mug in my hand. All of these beliefs are not basic as a foundationalist would like, but they all
cohere and provide reasonable justification for me to believe that the coffee in my mug is hot. It is my
opinion that coherentists have a better argument for beliefs, and more specifically, this example. While
I do think that there are many basic beliefs that are justified simply because they just are, I am not
convinced that all the beliefs we have in this world can be broken down quite in this way. I do
however, feel that many of our beliefs are based in a web of other believes that all support each other.
I know that my coffee is hot for many reasons, one being that I can feel it. I don t think that I
necessarily need to break it down into experiences when I have many other clues that could more
easily justify my belief. There are so many clues and beliefs around me to justify my belief that it s not
necessary to try and deduce anything. There are way too many complicated beliefs in the world that I
do not feel they can all be traced back to basic

The Lake Isle Of Innisfree
The poems The Lake Isle of Innisfree by William Butler Yeats and To Autumn by John Keats have
some similarities as well as some differences. Both authors talk about the sounds like water, animals,
birds, and insects. Also, they talk about the scenery, for instance, sunset over the lake and trees full of
fruits. But one author talks about moving a place far from city and the other talks about how one
season is different from the others. The language in these poems is soothing because the poets wrote
their poems in a way in which a reader could picture it and imagine the sounds, both the poems have
imagery. The different interpretations of the poets language influences on how the poem is understood
by the reader. Both authors talks about the peaceful sounds of nature and captivating views of
landscape but they have different settings. In the poem The Lake Isle of Innisfree, Yeats talks about
moving to an island, Innisfree, far from the city life because it is peaceful there. He does not like the
environment in the city because it is too noisy. In the poem, Yeats write: I hear lake water lapping with
low sounds by the shore; While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey, I hear it in the deep
heart s core. (10 13) He can hear the sound of the water in his heart and misses Innisfree. There, he
wants to live alone in a cabin made out of natural materials and grow his own food instead of buying
it. Yeats also states,

understood, to predict, facilitate and bestow good fortune upon those for whom or by whom they are
performed. A case in point is the expulsion of Hagar and her son Ishmael in Genesis 21.9 14. A repeat
of what went on between their mothers, now acted out by the children, in Genesis 16 leads to a
permanent removal of Ishmael from the homestead. Isaac becomes Abraham s only son as can be seen
in Genesis 22.12. Isaac then could be referred to as an only son because Ishmael had been chased out
of the household together with his mother and, Abraham was not in touch with them, and was not
really in a position to control and influence Ishmael s life, which was as good as there being one child
for him. He could also be an only son in the sense of the only child that Abraham happened to have

She was no rival to Sarah because Sarah was no longer there when Keturah becomes Abraham s wife.
She cannot be classified as a mistress as Hagar could have been. In Genesis 25.5 6 her children are
sent away because they are mothered by concubines . This again ensures that Isaac is the only son to
Abraham who is solely and exclusively in line to inherit the divine blessings and other promises made
to Abraham. The same chapter of Genesis will record that all of Isaac s brothers, including Ishmael,
were there to bury Abraham, their father, when he died. Were they children enough for a funeral only
but not relevant for everything else? In Genesis 35.22 26, the list of Jacob s children includes the four
sons born to him by Bilhah and Zilpah, the maidservants of Rachael and Leah, i.e., Dan and Naphtali;

the children of Keturah and Hagar before them. Hagar was a maidservant just like Bilhah and Zilpah.

An Analysis of Queen Gertrudes Position in King Hamlets...
An Analysis of Queen Gertrudes Position in King Hamlets Death in William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Usually in a playwright, one of the author s objectives is to keep the viewer or reader confused or
disconcerted about certain events in the plot. Certain characters in a play or story that have concocted
covert schemes to perhaps murder or frame somebody, may have confusing effects on the viewer.
Depending on the way the plan was developed in the plot the viewer may have to stop and ask
themselves; who was involved; who was killed or framed; what events actually transpired; and what
events happened after the murder. The viewer/reader is always trying to understand the events that
have just recently taken place, or events that will take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Hamlet s death was a prearranged plot against Hamlet by Hamlet s own brother Claudius.
Claudius contrives a way to kill Hamlet while he is in torpor in his own garden. Claudius would then
clandestinely pour poison in the King s ear, killing him instantly. Claudius now aggrandizing his
greatness rises to power as the new king. The people of Denmark oblivious to the treason of the estate
now blindly follow the new king, Claudius. However one night in Denmark, the ghost of Hamlet
appears to talk to his son, prince Hamlet to warn him of the treason that is at hand. However, in the
ghost s description of his murder was there no mention that the Queen had any part of it. The ghost
had only instructed that Hamlet avenges his father s murder by killing Claudius, and he leaves
Gertrude to heaven. Now furious and aware of what he is dealing with, Hamlet is determined to get
revenge for his father. Queen Gertrude does not claim to be unaware of the murder she is just assumed
to be unaware to the murder. The reader/viewer s first inclination the she is not a part of the plot is
when the ghost appears at night and speaks to Hamlet. The apparition discusses with Hamlet the
distress he is in and how his own brother murdered him. Revenge his foul and most unnatural
murder...but howsomever thou pursues this act, taint not thy mind, nor let thy soul contrive against

Strangeness And Isolation
Strangeness is an experience that occurs in everyday life. It can happen when we meet people from
different countries, when we travel to other countries or it can occur at home when we encounter
people who are strange to us. Thus, the stranger can be a visitor, a guest, a new comer or an
immigrant. In addition, foreigner, other or enemy are words that can be used as a synonym for
stranger. However, strangeness is not only related to people but also to situations, places, time or to
attitudes of other people, even to our undiscovered traits. In this sense, strangeness involves several
dimensions and aspects. George Simmel considers the stranger as a wanderer who comes today and

Symptoms And Treatment Of Psoriasis
The term comorbidity refers to the association of two distinct diseases in the same individual at a rate
higher than expected by chance (Bonavita and De Simone, 2008).
Although psoriasis has been previously thought to be a disease solely affecting primarily the skin and
the joints, our understanding of the comorbidities that may be associated with this disease has grown
significantly. Recent evidence has even suggested an increased over all risk of mortality in patients
with severe psoriasis (Gelfand JM et al., 2007).
The presence of comorbidities in dermatology is of interest for various reasons. A skin disease can be
an early marker of systemic disease, and therefore, identify patients who are at risk of having other,

A study by Cohen et al. (2008), supported previous reports of an association between psoriasis and
diabetes mellitus. The age adjusted proportion of diabetes was found to be significantly higher in
psoriasis patients as compared to the control group. A possible explanation for the association between
psoriasis and diabetes is the presence of chronic inflammation that occurs due to secretion of TNF a
and other proinflammatory cytokines such as IL 1 and IL 6, which precipitate both psoriasis and
diabetes.
2) Non Alcoholic Fat Liver Disease (NAFLD)
Prevalence of NAFLD in patients with psoriasis ran¬ges from 17 60% and is even greater in patients
with severe psoriasis and PsA ( Miele et al., 2009) .Similarly, Gisondi et al. speculated that NAFLD
may contribute to the seve rity of psoriasis through the release of inflammatory mediators from the
liver, including reactive oxygen species, CRP and IL 6, which also act as mediators of atherogenesis
(Gisondi et al., 2009),Moreover, patients with psoriasis and NAFLD have higher risk of developing
non alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and cirrhosis than patients with NAFLD without psoriasis
(Wenk et al., 2009). At least in part, progres¬sion of NAFLD to NASH is associated with an increa¬se
in the TNFa/adiponectin ratio. (Sanz Lp , 2007).

Characteristics Of Surrey Neighbourhoods
Surrey Neighbourhoods
Throughout Surrey every neighbourhood has a different sense of place which is well defined through

Conclusion
To some extent the sense of place depends on the built form, surrounding features derived from a mix
of natural and cultural features in the landscape, aesthetics and characteristic of the neighbourhood but
a major part depends on the feeling or perception held by people who occupy the place and not by the
place itself and thus makes a place special or unique, authentic or belonging. Places can have a strong
sense of place identity and character by local inhabitants and by many visitors. It is a social

discovered the village of St. Francis at three miles distance, when the party were ordered to halt and

Analysis Of Man On The Moon
Man On the Moon
When man first walked on the moon it was a very big accomplishment for mankind especially the
U.S.A., many people wrote articles or simply talked about and shared their opinions on this huge
accomplishment. In the text that appeared on Times magazine titled, Man Takes First Steps on the
Moon , one can see how much of an accomplishment it was for the U.S and many other people to have
been able to walk on the moon. In the text ethos and logos are used a few times to be able to make a
more possibly effective text on people reading the article and be able to show how much of a huge
deal this was for mankind. The following sentence is the first sentence in the paragraph which says a
lot about what the text is going to go towards, Neil Armstrong became the first man to take a walk on
the moon s surface early today. , seeing that the first sentence is about how a man walked on the moon
it shows most likely the rest of the text will be based around or on this man s actions. The next
sentence shows how many people including the president and pope expressed how it was a huge
accomplishment for mankind for a man to walk on the moon and make it back to Earth safely, At
Castelgandolfo the Pope greeted news of the lunar landing by exclaiming: Glory to God in the highest
and peace on earth to men of goodwill! , it makes sure to state it is the pope talking about the moon
landing.

Parenting Styles In Psychology
Psychology is the science of the mind and behavior of living beings. This area of study originally
began in December 1879 by a German college professor named Wilhelm Wundt, but it is still a widely
researched topic today. Over the past few centuries, psychologists have dedicated their lives to
researching how the mind and actions of others correlate. Through their research, they have
discovered concepts such as sensation and perception, learning, memory, thinking, motivation and
emotions, health, and personalities. These discoveries have contributed greatly to society to help
explain why some people behave differently than others. Scientists have also learned that people are
not born knowing everything, but rather they develop over their lifespan. Factors such as parenting
styles, psychological disorders, genetics, environments, and personality components are present in the
development of people, including myself. These elements affect the outcome of someone s mental and
physical decisions. Parenting styles are one of the most impactful factors of a person s development in
life. The three major parenting styles are authoritarian, permissive, and authoritative. Authoritarian
parents forceful and they use many rules and expect complete respect out of their children. Permissive
parents are very relaxed in their requests and punishments for their children. Thirdly, authoritative
parents are demanding and hold expectations, but they also encourage their children to have open

Essay about Equality vs. Athletics
Equality vs. Athletics
In 1929, the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote. This was a breakthrough for America and
an enormous step towards equal opportunities for women everywhere. Being given the right to vote
created a sense of long awaited and greatly deserved equality with men. Even though women were
given the right to vote, over 70 years ago, the government still has to make a law to ensure that equal
treatment is given. Title IX was instated in 1972 to provide women with the same athletic
opportunities as men in universities across the United States. While Title IX has helped advance
female athletics, there are arguments that it has discriminated against male athletics. Attorney Curt
Levey makes a drastically bias ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fewer than 30,000 females participated in intercollegiate athletics due to lack of opportunities
provided by colleges. After Title IX was established, women who participated in athletics had an
increased chance for opportunities. Since Title IX was introduced in 1972 female athletic participation
has increased more than 403% since 1971. By 2001 2.8 million females participated in athletics,
which makes up 43% of college varsity athletics. These numbers show an obvious increase in female
athletics and prove that Title IX has helped in the advancement of women s equality (Title IX at
Thirty: Report Card on Gender Equity 14 16).
Levey s main argument with Title IX was based on the negative effect of the proportionality rule. His
argument states that in order to comply with the proportionality rule, upper level schools have to
comply with cutting male athletics (Levey 626). However, it has been stated that male athletics, at
both high school and college levels, are continually increasing with the rate of female athletics.

Global Market Forces Of Islamic Banking Essay
Abstract
It is undeniable fact that Islamic banking system has been flourishing for last few decades and now
has become the focus of global market forces. Pioneers of Islamic banking proclaim that foundational
principles of Islamic banking is allied with Shari ah guidance and their accounting practices, policies
and financial reporting mechanism is based on Sharai ah values. Consequently, Islamic institutions
have the responsibility to follow Islamic rulings in all their practices. The core purpose of this study is
to confirm that either current practices are align with Islamic ethical values or just based on shari ah
terminologies. However, author find that current practice of Modarbah are not just contrary to its
theoretical foundation of Islamic Banking but also to basic shari ah guidance to some extent. It has
been also identified that whenever an issue arises in Islamic banks they try to make it shari ah
compliant instead of resolving particular issue they are busy in just manipulating or islamizing
conventional banking products by using Shari ah terminologies to capture the attention of Muslims
who are thirsty for transparent ideal Islamic system. This behavior of Islamic banks has made the
practices of Islamic banks more controversial. Proper implication of current study can make great
contribution in the literature of Islamic banking as it will help Islamic banks to review their practices
in order to fulfill the basic ethical principles of Islam.

A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, involves removing extra fat and tissues from your
abdomen and tightening the abdominal fascia. Fascia is a sheet of tough connective tissue, which is
made up mostly of collagen. Tummy tuck might also involve moving the belly button to a new
position to match the new contours.
Your tummy tuck will be done in a hospital or a surgical center. The procedure can take anywhere
between 1 4 hours. An incision is made along the bottom of the abdomen, just above the pubic bone,
to remove the excess fat and skin. The procedure is done under general anesthesia and you would have
to stay overnight after the procedure. You will experience pain, swelling and numbness after the
procedure. You can expect the swelling to subside within 5 or 6 weeks. However, the numbness will
be there for several months. After two weeks you will be able to take complete baths. Meanwhile, you
will have to do with sponge baths.
If you are thinking about a tummy tuck after your pregnancy period, you should make an appointment
with a plastic surgeon. He/she will discuss the whole procedure with you. Furthermore, your
expectations and the area of problem will also be discussed. Make sure that you discuss all your
queries.

What Does The Cleft Mean
Angela Carter once said, But you have no silver linings without a cloud. This quote was certainly true
for the servant girl named Kaali in the short story The Cleft by Prajwal Parajuly. Though all the insults
and negative gestures aimed toward Kaali may seem destructive but those insults have actually helped
her develop perseverance, resilience, and self confidence. Without those insults, Kaali would have had
a harder time developing these essential qualities. Throughout Kaali s life, she has learned to

Introduction This issue for case study 1 6 is brought to us by Steve Nelson and the company of the
Gregg s Appliances, Inc. The HH Gregg Company was founded on April 15, 1955 in Indianapolis by
Henry Harold Gregg and his wife. The initial store was an 800 square feet appliance showroom and
office. Since then the company has expanded and with that expansion the company needed more and
more information technology in order to harness the power of the information they had acquired. But
in 2006 the current CIO, Steve Nelson, was facing a deadline. The deadline was the HP, which was

The bonuses to this choice would be lower costs compared to Delphi and Sentra, Gregg s could
maintain current business processes and there is limited training required. But the Texas Firm UNIX
platform does not move Gregg s to an industry standard and it requires significant development staff
time. The other UNIX choice was from Ex ADI costing $4 $5 million. The process for this change
would be to hire programmers and re write into a UNIX platform internally. The biggest benefit to this
selection was that it allows for phase in implementation, which means no business will be stopped. It
is also much cheaper than Delphi and Sentra options. The software will also be high adaptable and
customizable and limited training will be required. But this will not move the company to an industry
standard and nothing will seem new. There are several big risks when changing important software in
a large company. It could lead to a sudden halt of the business during the deployment because of a
failed database, a bad internet connection or the inability of staff to input or process orders. The
system might not be able to handle the work load. Lastly, there could be an unexpected complete
system shutdown. There are also other costs to consider. Along with the implementation and annual
maintenance costs outlined in the summary, Nelson Must also consider other costs including: *

The Importance Of Queer Identity In The LGBT Community
I am extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to come to terms with much of my identity before
heading to college. However, some of my residents might not have had that opportunity and I d love to
create programs to allow for that questioning and affirmation to occur. With regard to my own identity,
I know seeing queer representation in the media was a step towards finding out my own queer identity.
For a program, I could work with another member of the LGBT community or even another
marginalized group, such as a person of color, to watch content featuring individuals who
unapologetically embrace their identity. Afterwards, the RA s could facilitate a conversation about the
content and the identities featured (with snacks of course). Many people might not be comfortable
with talking about their identity point blank and therefore the content allows for an introduction to the
conversation. Overall, I want to create an environment where discovering the different aspects of your
identity is encouraged and accepted by all.
From previous experience, I ve learned that the best way to create connections with residents is to
integrate yourself into their college experience. Whether it is saying hi in the elevators, in the halls, or
in common organizations, these types of interactions will foster closer and more open relationships
with residents. For most college students, moving away to college is the first time they will be
separated from their parents. Given that you are now

Jonah leaves Alex with another question, what does the combination of dependent events and
statistical fluctuations have to do with your plant?
During the weekend, Alex went to a hiking trip with his son and got stuck as a troop master . During
the hiking, Alex discovers Alex discovers the importance of dependent events in relation to statistical
fluctuations . With this discovery, he also found out that the bottleneck s speed of production is what
determines the speed of the other dependents. Hence, inventory moves very slowly because of
statistical fluctuations.
Back to the plant, Alex with his team begins their search for their plant s bottlenecks. Then they found

The Accounting Of Territorial Formation
The accountant of the conquest, and the making of what is today Latin America is a debatable subject
in the field of humanities, especially in the field history. The most widespread approaches of this
history are that of violence, war, oppression, possession of territories, and foundation of new colonies.
In Frontier of Possessions, Tamar Herzog, a historian, professor of Latin American presents an
account of the conquest from a different perspective, one that proposes that the acquisition of the
territory of the New World by Spain and Portugal was a result of interactions of many actors that
caused territorial division in both Iberia and the Americas (Herzog, 6). Hence, I conquer that one of
the reasons of the conquest was the desire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under those premises, Herzog steps away from comparative history. And focus at history that look at
the information, in a thematically agreement with specific actors, and arguments, rather that in
sequence, and progression in particular place. From the above mentioned, when analyzing the
territorial division in the Americas is necessary to ponder why the treaties failed? Was not the
Tordecillas treaty, which gave the right to conquest and posses the New World, enough? This question
is very important, and Herzog explores it: the treaty of Tordecillas did not specify a geographical
division; European couldn t agree, and trust their science or modernization. This contradictory
approach is important in the narrative of Frontiers of Possessions; Herzog presents an opposed view to
narrative about the modernity of the Europeans conquerors. It is ironic to think about modernization,
conquest, and possessions of lands when European couldn t trust their own modernity, and yet used it
as a justifiable reason to posses. This comes to show that these groups of people were common people
that possibly did not understood or even care about modernity, but rather possession through different
means. As an illustration, Herzog points out that Spaniard and Portuguese did not bother about linear
or zonal classification of the land.

Lone Survivor Movie Ethical Dilemma
Ethical Dilemma on the Battlefield: Analysis of Lone Survivor Scene Military personnel operating in
combat missions must maintain mental and situational awareness of their area of operations. This
includes a complete understanding of their physical and doctrinal training. Besides accomplishing
their mission, soldiers must also consider the rules of engagement and the personal and professional
ethics, values and morals that factor into their decisions in high stress environments (Allen, 2013).
Well planned missions will never be executed perfectly. Due to human nature, soldiers may be faced
with an ethical dilemma. Ethical dilemma comprises an individual selecting the most effective course
of action, identifying the different courses presented and realization that any one principle will be
conceded (Allen, 2013). In the movie, Lone Survivor, 4 Navy Seals were conducting recon for a high
target value mission in Afghanistan to take out a Taliban leader. During their mission, they
encountered two boys and an older man who were herding sheep. To not compromise the mission, the
civilians were detained. The language barrier and stress of this unexpected event opened the door for
the major ethical dilemma posed in the film. The seals were unsure of the affiliations of these civilians
to the Taliban, the consequences to their mission or the treat to their lives. This pivotal scene

Book Report Angelas Ashes Essay
Angela s Ashes by Frank McCourt
A Look at Irish Culture during the Depression Era
Frank Mc Court, the author of Angela s Ashes, was born during the Great Depression. A few years
after immigrating to the United States because their families believed they would find their fortune
here, his Irish family moved back to Ireland in hopes of a better life. They were met with only more
hardships in their native country. His book shows the struggle and small joys of daily life with
siblings, school friends, and the adults in his life. It also provides much insight into the way the people
in Ireland lived at that time. The author tells the story from the viewpoint of Frank, the oldest child of
a father whose background in quot;the North quot; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is also quot;the drink quot; the disease of Irish fathers who spend their weeks wages in the pub

Frank s mother was forced to seek Relief, the Irish version of America s welfare system. She also
sought help from the Catholic and Protestant Church in feeding her family. The iron in the book was
that help was not given out without an accompanying sermon, in hopes of persuasion to join one or the
other. Mc Court depicts those in charge of the Relief system as being biased and unchristian type of
people who looked down on those they were in a position to help. (p. 150)
There are many amusing stories in the book revolving around the way the young children had to fend
for themselves while their parents sought work. In an effort to keep their apartment heated throughout
an especially cold winter, the children tore apart the furniture, and when that was gone they began to
use the wood from the walls. When the landlord came to see the apartment, he commented that he
thought he had rented them a 4 room apartment when it was only a 3 room, not realizing they had torn
out an entire wall. (p. 79)
Even those relatives who had some money were not always eager to help the family. They were
critical of the drunken father and for the mother who continued having children they could not
support. Ironically, however, when there was a death in the family, everyone showed up

Kant s Theory Of Doubt
DOUBT AND CERTAINTY: A PHILOSOPHICAL RELATIONSHIP OF THE TWO
PARADOXICAL NOTIONS
I. INTRODUCTION
It is a human nature to be somewhat terrified to the unknown. However, the world is a giant
conglomerate of doubt. An extensive analysis is subjected to an extensive doubt. On the other hand,
humans continuously seek for certainty regarding a specific situation. We want to be certain and aware
on what is coming, in order to be prepared and fully know the truths. However, is it possible for
humans to achieve certainty with everything? What would the world be like if humans do not have
any hint of doubt?
The avenue of philosophy is primarily about addressing the fundamental questions regarding reality,
existence and truth in order to fulfil one s curiosity. Philosophizing is asking the right questions to
come up with the right answers. Relevantly, the feeling of doubt impels man to ask philosophical ...

EXPOSITION OF THE TWO NOTIONS
A. Understanding Doubt
Doubt is generally defined as a state of mind; some would say an affliction of the mind. It refers to a
condition in which one is unable or unwilling to accept, on the face of it, a given statement as true. 1
When we say we are in doubt, what we mean is that we are not altogether certain about the correctness
of a proposition, the reliability of a person or even the existence of something.
Not all doubts are created equal. Doubt in its various forms exists. One of these is in the form of
quotidian doubt which is pertains to suspecting that the proponent of a proposition is most probably
not telling the truth, and at the same time, may even have reason to do so. For instance, when a very
probable suspect who is questioned by the police asserts that he is truly innocent, one may not accept
the statement as absolutely true.
Additionally, if a doctor were to tell a close relative of a seriously ill patient that there is a very good
chance of recovery, one may have some doubts about what the physician

Iron was first found being used in about 5000 B.C. in Mesopotamia. But the Chinese started to use it

The chinese switched from using bronze to iron in 1500 BC. They switched because there was an

the songs, dancing, and the storyline in Singing in the Rain came together really well and captured my
attention throughout the whole movie. Singing in the Rain incorporates many songs and dances which
substitutes many of the actor s dialogue throughout the movie. I believe this allowed the characters in

Rossini And Il Barbiere Di Siviglia Essay
Rossini and Il Barbiere di Siviglia
Gioachino Rossini, like many great composers, was born in the right place at the right time. The
musical firmament was still mourning the loss of Wolfgang Mozart in 1792 when Rossini was born.
His parents were both gifted musicians, and young Gioachino was in a music conservatory by the age
of 14. Rossini composed ten operas within the following seven years and had established himself as a
gifted composer in the opera buffa style. This genre of comic opera was strikingly different from the
rigorous opera seria, but it still managed to acquire some noticeable traits. Primarily, the arias in opera
buffe shirk the da capo style of the seria mold. The subject matter deals frequently ... Show more

Rossini snuck out of the Teatro Argentina and went home, retiring for the evening without so much as
a word to anyone. The following evening, however, was a stark contrast. The composer did not attend
the performance, but he heard a crowd with torches in the street following the show. He fully expected
an angry mob, but was greeted by an adulatory audience shouting Bravo! Almaviva became
immensely popular, and the title was eventually changed to Il Barbiere di Siviglia. This alteration
established Rossini s work as the ultimate expression of the story, and the work is now considered
widely as one of the greatest comic operas ever written.
An aria from Barbiere that incorporates many of the typical buffa elements is La calunnia é un
venticello from the first act. Often called the Calumny aria , La calunnia is the first aria sung by the
unscrupulous music teacher, Don Basilio. He sings to Bartolo about defaming Almaviva through
calumny, malicious lies. The aria opens slowly, softly in D major as Basilio describes his slander as a
gentle breeze which begins to gather force. Rossini s orchestration embodies this concept, as a simple
ascending scale in thirds begins in the strings. The pianissimo marking gives way to piano as the
pattern moves to a phrase in b minor. The tune continues to meander through tonalities until it arrives
back in D major. Basilio reiterates that his lies gather

Ambition In Macbeth
Tragic Ambition

Macbeth is a really dark story of how one man s ambition got him everything, but was not able to

symbols are; the three witches, blood and hands, sleep, light, darkness, and women. All these symbol

Examples Of Smerdyakov Degeneration
The ultimate example of degeneration, however, is Smerdyakov. With a mother who did not have the
mental capacity to even speak, and a father who more than likely took advantage of such an
impairment, Smerdyakov had little hope. Besides his epilepsy, Smerdyakov had Fyodor s vanity,
arrogance, and the ability to play the ultimate fool. What provides evidence for the degeneration
theory, though, is Smerdyakov s capability of committing murder and allowing another to take the
blame. There was no purpose for murdering Fyodor as Smerdyakov did, no guilt for taking a life or
ruining another, no conscience or moral compass; the ultimate degeneration of a person s morality.

Despite all of the evidence suggesting that the brothers had little say in how they would turn out,
Dostoevsky showed the readers that no attitude ever defines a human being completely...the human
condition is not a sum total of observable social and psychological influences (Schrift and Conway,
2013). People do have a choice in who they are, it is just a matter of recognizing that they have that
choice. This awakening often follows after the commission of a particularly heinous act as long as the
person has not become too far from their spiritual self (Paris, 2008). Dmitry s awakening is after he
almost kills Gregory, the servant who helped raise him. He believes he had killed Gregory and begins
to realize that all of his past behavior, the stereotypical decisions, which have conscribed his character
is not who he wants to be (Jackson, 2004). In order to become the man he wishes to be, Dmitry makes
a very un Karamazov decision; he decides to purposely inflict suffering upon himself as repentance: I

These investigations led to production of 8.4 tons of gold annually [1]. These successes led several
other gold mining companies to follow with bioleaching processes. Today bioleaching of gold
containing ore has become increasingly important as bioleaching technology progresses and gold
reserves become increasingly depleted. 2.2 TYPES OF BIOLEACHING Types of bioleaching of gold
ore can be divided into three categories. Each method offers various advantages. Selection of the
bioleaching type for a specific application depends on several factors including: the ore composition,
gold content, surrounding environment and amount of available reserves. 2.2.1 BIOREACTORS
Bioreactors are employed when the value of the gold recovery is sufficient to justify the costs of
installing and operating the necessary equipment. Bioreactors are able to process less gold ore at one
time, but create a much faster oxidation process. This process usually utilizes higher grade ores
compared to heap leaching. This type of bioleaching is characterized by a reactor tank in which
relatively finely ground ore and nutrients are added, as well as bacteria containing solution to create a
slurry (Figure 1). This mixture is then mechanically or air agitated. [pic] Figure 1: Bioreactor tanks for

vary in different industries and from company to another, some studies suggest that consumer products
are more likely to fail than those directed at business markets. Products fail for many reasons, one of
the most common reason is the company s failure to match product offerings to customer needs, when
products do not offer value and lack the features customers want, they fail in the marketplace, other
reasons often given for new product failure include technical or design problems, poor timing,

Causes Of Japan Suicide
Although Japan is one of the largest countries in the world and it has the third highest economy in the
world, it has faced a great rise in suicides rate due to the many reasons that push thousands of
Japanese to commit suicide yearly. Japan s suicide rate had risen to the extent that every fifteen
minutes someone commits suicide in Japan and over 100 suicides are officially reported daily.
However, the rate wasn t that high until in 1998 s economic crisis in Japan that led many people to
lose their jobs and money and since then, the suicide rate stayed high. Some people argue it s the
economic reasons that leads people to suicide, while others argue it s the mental reasons. I believe it s
the mental reasons as the economic reasons will lead to mental exhausting that will lead to suicide.
According to statistics that was done by the Metropolitan Police Department in 2009, over 30,000
people committed suicide yearly. This is why japan is called The World s Suicide Leader . And
statistics shows that over 32,000 Japanese people kill themselves yearly in Japan. However, The

Call Of Conscience In Les Miserables
The following section connects Hyde s acknowledgment concepts: call of conscience, reconstruction,
calculating thought, as well as, social death with select scenes from the novel Les Misérables in order
to prove that stories teach people how to live a fulfilling life. ...the future is constantly calling us to
acknowledge and make use of our response ability for making thoughtful decisions about how to build
and live a meaningful life (Hyde, 2006, p. 49). Again, this paper argues that Les Misérables teaches
people the communicative lesson of acknowledgment, specifically, call of conscience, reconstruction,
calculative thought, and social death which explain how people can live responsible and meaningful
lives.
Call of conscience: Les Misérables does an excellent job at projecting what call of conscience means,
specifically, when Jean Valjean saves Fauchelevent from being crushed under a carriage.
Fauchelevent calls out where art thou?, help, cried old Fauchelevent. Who is a good fellow to save an
old man? (Hugo, 2003, p. 109). Everyone is standing around leaving poor Fauchelevent to die. Valjean
tries to find an alternative way of saving Fauchelevent, such as getting a jack, but Fauchelevent would
be dead by the time it got there. Valjean informs everyone that there is enough room under the wagon
for a man to crawl under and lift the weight, but nobody [stirs] in the crowd (Hugo, 2003, p. 110).
Javert notes that fearsome men are needed to lift the wagon...I have known but one man capable of
doing what you call for (Hugo, 2003, p. 110). The old man yells out that he is dying and Valjean offers
to pay someone to save Fauchelevent. Yet again, no one rises to the occasion, therefore, without
saying a word Valjean falls to his knees and saves Fauchelevent despite the fact that Javert watches
him the entire time. Valjean answers Fauchelevent s where are though which his here I am when he
saves him.
Call of conscience is the call of Being Valjean takes his courage and saves Fauchelevent because he
knows that it is the right thing to do (Hyde, 2006, p. 39). He would no longer be an honest man if he
left poor Fauchelevent to die. During a call of conscience, ones thinking and acting may not be as

Media Portrayal Of Beauty Essay
Media s Portrayal of Beauty Some people occasionally feel that their own appearance is unacceptable
to society because of what others are expecting based on published media. Those include, social
media, published articles, and even movies and TV shows. The media s portrayal of beauty has had a
generational effect on american society with young people falling victim to unrealistic standards.
Failing to participate in these ideals can lead to non acceptance, ostracization, and even bullying due
to the unfounded judgements of those who do participate in the beauty standards perpetuated by the
media. As a matter of fact, research on the impact of those ideals have been done. Many of the studies
have been made based on the outlook of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes people don t even feel the need for change and are comfortable with themselves, but once
they are exposed to any form of beauty standards they begin to question whether or not they would be
accepted by others, and there could be negative affects. The developmental effects of media ideal
internalization and self objectification processes on adolescents negative body feelings, dietary
restraint, and binge eating (Dakanalis, Carra, Calogero, Fida, Clerici, Zanetti, Riva 997). Young
people will feel the need to try and fit in no matter the cost, even if that means to physically harm
themselves. Not only will those actions cause physical harm, but mental and emotional health
problems can rise as well, such as depression and anxiety. Since this problem is most common with
young adults, there is a possibility that they can also be getting bullied. Bullying is a major problem in
schools because children tend to care less about the way they are treating others, and often times don t
understand the kind of affect they are causing to those they are abusing. If there is someone that is not
following current trends, or look the same as everyone else, then they can begin to forcibly pressure
someone into changing their appearance by persecuting them into becoming what they find is
acceptable. It s natural to make self evaluations. One particular study explored the change in self
evaluations after being exposed to inappropriate social comparisons

Water Drinking Water Quality Standards
Drinking water, also known as potable water or improved drinking water is safe enough for drinking
and food preparation. Globally, in 2012, 89% of people had access to water suitable for drinking.
Nearly 4 billion had access to tap water while another 2.3 billion had access to wells or public taps.
The amount of drinking water required is variable. For those working in a hot climate, up to 16 liters a
day may be required. Infants are about 70% to 80% water while the elderly are around 45%.
Typically in developed countries, tap water meets drinking water quality standards, even though only
a small proportion is actually consumed or used in food preparation. Other typical uses include
washing, toilets, and irrigation. Greywater may also be used for toilets or irrigation. Its use for
irrigation however may be associated with risks. The British Dietetic Association recommends 1.8
litres. However, various reviews of the evidence performed in 2002 and 2008 could not find any solid
scientific evidence recommending eight glasses of water per day. In the United States, the reference
daily intake for total water intake is 3.7 litres per day for human males older than 18, and 2.7 L/day for
human females older than 18 which includes drinking water, water in beverages, and water contained
in food. An individual s thirst provides a better guide for how much water they require rather than a
specific, fixed quantity. Water generated from the biochemical metabolism of nutrients provides a

  • 2. Racism And Ethnic Separation Of The United States Racism and ethnic separation in the United States has been a noteworthy issue subsequent to the provincial period and the slave time. Legitimately or socially endorsed benefits and rights were given to White Americans that were not allowed to Native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, and Latin Americans. European Americans (especially Anglo Americans) were conceded select benefits in matters of training, migration, voting rights, citizenship, land procurement, and criminal method over timeframes reaching out from the seventeenth century to the 1960s. Be that as it may, non Protestant workers from Europe; especially Irish individuals, Poles and Italians; endured xenophobic prohibition and different types of ethnicity based segregation in American culture. Also, albeit Middle Eastern Americans are considered White under the US Census, Jews (counting settlers from the Diaspora and from Israel itself) and Arabs have confronted persistent separation in the United States, and thus, a few individuals having a place with these gatherings don t recognize as white. East and South Asians have also confronted racism in America and are normally not considered white America has more than once been at war, from the Revolutionary period to Vietnam. • 4. The Theory Of Social Learning Theory This essay will demonstrate a knowledge and understanding and discuss the concept of social learning theory, whilst taking into consideration and explaining the way children learn and develop. This essay will focus on the overall concept of this theory and will explore the work of the theorist Albert Bandura and how he contributes to the role of the adult and their understanding of social learning. This essay will then examine the work of Urie Bronfenbrenner in relation to the work of Bandura. Using this theoretical perspective it can benefit the adult by understanding of children s learning and social development. Furthermore, this essay will link into practical and reflect upon and analyse the relationship between theory and practice. Social learning theory suggests that people learn from one another, this can be through observation, imitation, media and modelling. This theory is often known as the behaviourist theory and cognitive learning theory because it consists of using attention, memory, behaviour and motivation. Social learning theory advocates that individuals, especially children, imitate or copy modelled behaviour from personally observing others, the environment and the mass media . (Gray and MacBlain, 2015). This is stating that a child will look up to someone they respect and class them as models, the child may imitate their behaviour and the way they act. Furthermore, I will advise the management according on how to address the concerns of their employees. Nine survey questions will use the Likert scales which come in many variations from strongly disagree to strongly agree. The advantage of Likert scales is that they demonstrate order and the absence of distance between categories. The last question is the general question that wants to ascertain the employee s additional comments which the questions have not addressed. • 6. Coherentism and Foundationalism Foundationalism vs. Coherentism Throughout history, philosophers have been trying to come up with a clear way to provide the justification of our beliefs and knowledge. Noah Lemos offers readers explanations of both foundationalism and coherentism for theories of justification. These two different theories offer very different ways to explain the basis of our beliefs. For a foundationalist, they believe that all of our beliefs can be broken down until we reach a basic belief. This belief would be largely independent of other beliefs and not derived from other beliefs. A coherentist feels that a belief can be reasonably justified if it is coheres with our other beliefs. The foundationalist theory of justification boils everything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A coherentist however, would justify that the pot is hot through other beliefs that cohere with this belief. Some of these coherent beliefs would be: the remaining coffee in the pot is hot, the coffee is freshly brewed which would mean it is hot, I can see steam coming from the coffee in my mug, the coffee I ve had every other day this week from the same pot have been hot and I can feel the warmth from the mug in my hand. All of these beliefs are not basic as a foundationalist would like, but they all cohere and provide reasonable justification for me to believe that the coffee in my mug is hot. It is my opinion that coherentists have a better argument for beliefs, and more specifically, this example. While I do think that there are many basic beliefs that are justified simply because they just are, I am not convinced that all the beliefs we have in this world can be broken down quite in this way. I do however, feel that many of our beliefs are based in a web of other believes that all support each other. I know that my coffee is hot for many reasons, one being that I can feel it. I don t think that I necessarily need to break it down into experiences when I have many other clues that could more easily justify my belief. • 7. The Lake Isle Of Innisfree The poems The Lake Isle of Innisfree by William Butler Yeats and To Autumn by John Keats have some similarities as well as some differences. Both authors talk about the sounds like water, animals, birds, and insects. Also, they talk about the scenery, for instance, sunset over the lake and trees full of fruits. But one author talks about moving a place far from city and the other talks about how one season is different from the others. The language in these poems is soothing because the poets wrote their poems in a way in which a reader could picture it and imagine the sounds, both the poems have imagery. The different interpretations of the poets language influences on how the poem is understood by the reader. Both authors talks about the peaceful sounds of nature and captivating views of landscape but they have different settings. In the poem The Lake Isle of Innisfree, Yeats talks about moving to an island, Innisfree, far from the city life because it is peaceful there. He does not like the environment in the city because it is too noisy. This area of study originally began in December 1879 by a German college professor named Wilhelm Wundt, but it is still a widely researched topic today. Over the past few centuries, psychologists have dedicated their lives to researching how the mind and actions of others correlate. Through their research, they have discovered concepts such as sensation and perception, learning, memory, thinking, motivation and emotions, health, and personalities. These discoveries have contributed greatly to society to help explain why some people behave differently than others. Scientists have also learned that people are not born knowing everything, but rather they develop over their lifespan. Factors such as parenting styles, psychological disorders, genetics, environments, and personality components are present in the development of people, including myself. These elements affect the outcome of someone s mental and physical decisions. Parenting styles are one of the most impactful factors of a person s development in life. The three major parenting styles are authoritarian, permissive, and authoritative. Authoritarian parents forceful and they use many rules and expect complete respect out of their children. The HH Gregg Company was founded on April 15, 1955 in Indianapolis by Henry Harold Gregg and his wife. The initial store was an 800 square feet appliance showroom and office. Since then the company has expanded and with that expansion the company needed more and more information technology in order to harness the power of the information they had acquired. But the Texas Firm UNIX platform does not move Gregg s to an industry standard and it requires significant development staff time. The other UNIX choice was from Ex ADI costing $4 $5 million. The process for this change would be to hire programmers and re write into a UNIX platform internally. The biggest benefit to this selection was that it allows for phase in implementation, which means no business will be stopped. It is also much cheaper than Delphi and Sentra options. The software will also be high adaptable and customizable and limited training will be required. But this will not move the company to an industry standard and nothing will seem new. There are several big risks when changing important software in a large company. It could lead to a sudden halt of the business during the deployment because of a failed database, a bad internet connection or the inability of staff to input or process orders. The system might not be able to handle the work load. Lastly, there could be an unexpected complete system shutdown. There are also other costs to consider. Along with the implementation and annual maintenance costs outlined in the summary, Nelson Must also consider other costs including: * Training costs * Testing costs * Costs of lost ... • 26. The Importance Of Queer Identity In The LGBT Community I am extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to come to terms with much of my identity before heading to college. However, some of my residents might not have had that opportunity and I d love to create programs to allow for that questioning and affirmation to occur. With regard to my own identity, I know seeing queer representation in the media was a step towards finding out my own queer identity. For a program, I could work with another member of the LGBT community or even another marginalized group, such as a person of color, to watch content featuring individuals who unapologetically embrace their identity. Afterwards, the RA s could facilitate a conversation about the content and the identities featured (with snacks of course). Many people might not be comfortable with talking about their identity point blank and therefore the content allows for an introduction to the conversation. Overall, I want to create an environment where discovering the different aspects of your identity is encouraged and accepted by all. From previous experience, I ve learned that the best way to create connections with residents is to integrate yourself into their college experience. Whether it is saying hi in the elevators, in the halls, or in common organizations, these types of interactions will foster closer and more open relationships with residents. The Accounting Of Territorial Formation The accountant of the conquest, and the making of what is today Latin America is a debatable subject in the field of humanities, especially in the field history. The most widespread approaches of this history are that of violence, war, oppression, possession of territories, and foundation of new colonies. In Frontier of Possessions, Tamar Herzog, a historian, professor of Latin American presents an account of the conquest from a different perspective, one that proposes that the acquisition of the territory of the New World by Spain and Portugal was a result of interactions of many actors that caused territorial division in both Iberia and the Americas (Herzog, 6). Was not the Tordecillas treaty, which gave the right to conquest and posses the New World, enough? This question is very important, and Herzog explores it: the treaty of Tordecillas did not specify a geographical division; European couldn t agree, and trust their science or modernization. This contradictory approach is important in the narrative of Frontiers of Possessions; Herzog presents an opposed view to narrative about the modernity of the Europeans conquerors. It is ironic to think about modernization, conquest, and possessions of lands when European couldn t trust their own modernity, and yet used it as a justifiable reason to posses. This comes to show that these groups of people were common people that possibly did not understood or even care about modernity, but rather possession through different means. As an illustration, Herzog points out that Spaniard and Portuguese did not bother about linear or zonal classification of the land. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
