Does Fair Trade Work
No good deed goes unpunished. No act of charity goes unresented. Buying coffee at the local coffee
shop down the street, we see the Fair Trade logo and wonder whether ordering Fair Trade coffee rather
than conventional coffee really supports farmers in unindustrialized countries. In other words, does
Fair Trade work? The Fair Trade initiative aims to improve the living conditions of producers in
developing nations. The goals of Fair Trade are to achieve higher prices for producers, greater
availability of financing for producers, longer term and more sustainable buyer seller relationships,
improved social goods and community development, and the use of environmentally friendly
production processes. Fair Trade works through a certification

My Experience At The University Of Oklahoma
According to the literal definition, hard work is a broad term that encompasses a vast amount of the
human population. I believe that the term is thrown around so often that it has almost become
meaningless. In my mind, hard work is throwing yourself into difficult situations and remaining both
dedicated and determined to conquer the task. Although the desired outcome is not always reached,
hard work remains an important value that allows us to show our full potential. I have been constantly
put in tough situations throughout my life and if it were not for my dedication and hard work, I would
not have made it to where I am today.
Being enrolled at the University of Oklahoma is a huge accomplishment. The journey began 14 years
ago when I enrolled in kindergarten at Jenks East Elementary in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As I grew older,
classwork gradually became harder and the fun activities, such as recess, came to a screeching halt in
the sixth grade. Starting with seventh grade, school just became a daily task that I had to force myself
to get through. However, I began receiving high school credit that year and so I told myself that I had
to do well in order to make it to the next level, college. When high school came around, I had to pay
attention to every class because it had the ability to permanently stain my transcript. I knew my
transcript was an important part of the college enrollment process, so I did everything that I could in
order to create an image that would appeal to

Critical appreciation: Erving Goffman; The presentation of self in everyday life.
Erving Goffman was one of the most important Sociologists in the 20th century who focussed his
study on aspects of social life. It is often argued that Goffman was one of the twentieth century s most
remarkable practitioners of social science (Smith, 2006:1). He was born on the 11th June 1922 in
Alberta, Canada. His parents were Jewish and part of the group of Ukrainians who moved to Canada
before the beginning of the First World War. Initially Goffman studied Chemistry before moving to the
University of Toronto to study Anthropology and Sociology where he gained an understanding in
Durkheim, Warner, Freud and Parsons. Goffman s wife killed herself ... Show more content on

He also implies how an individual will be focussed on making a favourable show of him (a good
impression) which gives another explanation to why humans can be seen as actors in situations of
social interaction, they act how they think the audience (observers) want them to act. To summarise
his chapter on presentation Goffman s primary assumption is that individuals differ not by their
specific qualities, but by the situations they find themselves in to which they adopt different roles to
perform for the observer .
For this work Goffman gained inspiration from his own personal experiences, as his wife struggled
with mental illness and he chose to travel to the Shetland Islands to study the interaction in their
society. His wife s illness may have shaped his argument as another key piece of his work was
Asylums where he carried out fieldwork in a hospital where he wished to look at the social world of
an inmate. In his findings he was very critical and stated how behaviour that was deemed out of the
ordinary was simply someone not conforming to the rules and expectations of society. If those rules or
norms/values are broken that person would be viewed as an outsider and therefore displays an
inability to play the role of an actor .
A key theorist behind his work is Herbert Mead who published a book Mind, Self and Society and he
looked at the experiences of human beings and

Ancient Mayan Research Paper
The ancient Mayan civilization was highly advanced for its time. It was responsible for many
advances in astronomy, written language, and agriculture. The Mayans also had a very developed
system of social hierarchy. They were considered the most advanced civilization in the New World for
the way they were able to use the surrounding geography to their advantage. By analyzing the
environment of the Mayan world and its effect on the economic, social, and political aspects of this
mighty culture, the reader can conclude that the ancient Mayans were today s equivalent of a major
world power. To begin, the economy of ancient Mayan culture was based largely around geography.
Mayans relied heavily on agriculture to trade with other tribes. They ... Show more content on

Each city had its own king, whom the Mayans believed was appointed by the gods to rule. Each king
was considered to be a representative of the gods, or even a god himself. Blood was viewed as

victims were usually high status prisoners of war from other city states or tribes. City states traded,
fought, and allied with one another throughout the period of the Maya. Some city states were stronger
than others, and the smaller groups were required to pay tribute to these to maintain peace. In this way,
Mayan city states grew very prosperous and flourished, with thriving economies and large

Cognitive Biases And Structured Analytic Techniques
There are many cognitive biases that affect the analytic process and inhibit analysts from reaching the
height of their accuracy. Each of these cognitive biases affect thinking in a unique way, but there are
different techniques that can be used to overcome these biases. Most of the time cognitive biases are
not intentional which is why it is so important that measures are taken to reduce the effect of cognitive
biases. Structured Analytic Techniques effectively reduce the effect of cognitive biases in many
different ways. This paper will examine four cognitive biases and Structured Analytic Techniques that
can help intelligence analysts be more accurate and less biased in their analysis. Anchoring is a
cognitive bias in which there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Outside in thinking is a strategy that requires analysts to think from the perspective of the outside. The
first step of outside in thinking is to list all of they forces that could have an impact on a certain topic
or issue. From there the analyst looks at possible factors that could influence that topic such as policy
changes or actions of an adversary. The next step is to analyze how each of those factors could affect
the topic or issue that the analyst is focusing on. The final step of outside in thinking is to judge
whether or not the factors you identified are relevant to the issue at hand. This process requires the
analyst to first look at all possible information and then work until they have reached a conclusion.
The conclusion is the last step of this process and the analyst is aware of this fact so they are less
likely to only look for information that supports their conclusion. This thinking process is effective in
encouraging analysts to avoid the pitfalls of the confirmation

The Inequality Of Latin America
In the 1500s, Spanish and Portuguese colonizers imposed their language, their religion, and their
social institutions on the indigenous Americans and enslaved Africans, people who labored for them in
mines and fields and who served them, too, at table and in bed (Chasteen 5). Many people would say
this is where inequality in Latin America began, with colonization. However, colonization is just a
small piece of the roots of inequality of the region, which actually started with the natives of the lands
such as the Incas, Aztecs and Mayans. These three empires ruled most of the Latin American region
and did so by conquering other native groups or tribes. The Empires had a ruling class or king that
was able to oppress and work his people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Peninsulars received the land and the control over the government?, which caused issues with the next
class, the Creoles. Creoles were people of Spanish decent born in Latin America. Despite the slight
distinction between the two, they did not receive the same land and power as the Peninsulars because
of their birthplace, which caused resentment and later sparked revolution. Next were the Mestizos,
who were of European and indigenous American decent. The more the different ethnicities mixed, the
more class distinctions were created. Because they introduced foreign diseases, the Europeans and
Africans eventually replaced the indigenous Americans and brought about the potential for rich
diversity. Social class typically ranged from the most European being the best off to the most
indigenous or African being the poorest. The original sin of Latin American history the festering social
injustice at the core had done its durable damage (Chasteen 42). In addition, the social and political
systems created by the Peninsulars were intended to serve their home country, only making matters
worse.
Once Spanish and Portuguese established rule in the New World, they began to economically take
advantage of the indigenous people and the new resources. The Spanish Crown implemented a tax
called the royal fifth to get money from the mining in Latin America, and to collect the tax they had to

2.1 Research and Report on Rapid Interface Design Tools
Introduction
A rapid prototype is defined as a 3D model generated rapidly with the help of Computer Aided Design
(CAD) drawing. The process of creating such a masterpiece requires a number of prerequisites to be
fulfilled on the onset of creating the 3D model. The various portions of the model are built layer after
layer. The processes involved in the creation process include solid ground curing; selective laser
sintering, fused deposition modelling, and stereo lithography.
Rapid Prototyping Tools
There is a wide array of rapid prototyping software available in the market today. They range from
WebZap, Balsamiq, Pencil and paper, all the way to Bootstrap. In this assignment, special focus will
be given to the review of Bootstrap.
Bootstrap
This is specially designed for prototyping in code. It bypasses many basics of creating and enforcing a
basic User interface (UI). This software was designed to eliminate the need for having to write all the
codes you need by hand. It works by availing Bootstrap components you require for rapid prototyping
in the canvas section.

Digital Immigrants
In today s world, technology has advanced drastically that there is not a single body on this planet that
doesn t have a phone in their pocket. Those who grew up with little to no technology are now around
their 50 s or older, which are categorized as digital immigrants. In contrast, those who grew up with
technology are considered digital natives. I feel like those who are digital natives have better lives
than those who grew up being digital immigrants. For example, today s world it is a lot easier for
people to communicate and reach others family members or friends from across the world even
though one is laying on their bed drinking some hot chocolate. Unlike in the past, for one to
communicate with a relative they would have to make the effort to meet them in person.
As being a digital native, I feel like the technology has not just affected me but everyone around
world. Such as a cell phone, every cell phone now a day s is able to search the web and find what you
re looking for in a matter of a few taps and clicks. The technology we have today is incredibly easy to
maneuver, even children who are as young as 4 years old can use an iPhone better than an adult who is
at the age of 40. Cell phones make peoples life s so much easier by being able to send a text message
or an email in a matter of seconds and continue to do what you re doing, instead of having to meet up
with the individual in person. Its honestly really rare to see someone send a letter greeting family

Hall Of Justice Analysis
During the conversation between Joe and Louis in Act II, Scene 7, Joe explains that the day before, he
accidentally showed up for work at the Hall of Justice on a Sunday. Due to the fact that the Hall is
closed on Sundays, Joe arrived to discover a deserted courthouse and panicked, thinking, The whole
Hall of Justice, it s empty, it s deserted, it s gone out of business. Forever (Kushner 78). Although it
was deserted simply due to the fact that it was Sunday, the empty Hall of Justice symbolizes freedom.
Specifically, this can be seen when Joe states, It would be...heartless terror. Yes. Terrible, and...Very
great. To shed your skin, every old skin, one by one and then walk away, unencumbered, into the
morning (Kushner 78 79). This shows that an empty Hall of Justice would ... Show more content on

In turn, individuals would then have the freedom to determine their own beliefs regarding justice. This
can be seen when Joe states, I just wondered what a thing it would be...if overnight everything you
owe anything to, justice, or love, had really gone away. Free (Kushner 78), which again shows that an
empty Hall of Justice symbolizes freedom from both the Hall and the idea of justice itself. Aside from
this point in the play, the subject of justice had been brought up twice before. Immediately preceding
Joe s description of an empty Hall of Justice, in Act II, Scene 6, Joe had struggled with the concepts of
justice and ethics when contemplating accepting the job offer Roy had provided him with.
Specifically, Roy obtained the opportunity to join the Justice Department in Washington, D.C. in order
to help prevent Roy from becoming disbarred. Upon realizing this, Joe proclaims, Even if I said yes to
the job, it would be illegal to interfere. With the hearings. It s unethical. No. I can t (Kushner 73),
realizing that accepting the job opportunity would make him obligated to act unjustly according to the
law and ethics. In response, Roy argues, I must have eyes in

Investigation Of A Coil Gun
Abstract: The task of this assignment is to evaluate the of a coil gun using the variables of number of
rapes of coil and the distance the projectile will travel. Then will evaluate and investigate the physics
behind the gun. Aim: The purpose of this investigation the efficiency of a coil gun using the
relationship between the number of coils and the distance the projectile travelled. Hypothesis: In this
investigation there is a relationship between the number of coils and the distance the projectile
travelled. Therefore the more coils the further the projectiles will travel (cm). Prediction: As more
coils are wrapped around the gun, the distance of the projectile will increase. Literature Review: Coil
gun A coilgun (aka gun Gauss, Gauss Gauss cannon or rifle) is a type of gun that uses a series of
electromagnets for magnetically accelerate a projectile at high speed. The name Gauss gun comes
from Carl Friedrich Gauss, who formulated the mathematical proofs of the electromagnetic effect used
by Gauss cannons. The Gauss cannons are often called wrongly railguns from various sources, and
while they are similar in general concept (ie, a magnetic weapon), differ in operation, since a railgun
accelerates the missiles on two rails parallel conductors. The Gauss cannons are in substance identical
to the projector mass, albeit on a smaller scale. Kristian Birkeland is commonly considered the
inventor of the electromagnetic cannon Gauss, by which he obtained a patent

Essay on Point of View in Miss Brill by Katherine Mansfield
The point of view that Katherine Mansfield has chosen to use in Miss Brill serves two purposes. First,
it illustrates how Miss Brill herself views the world and, second, it helps the reader take the same
journey of burgeoning awareness as Miss Brill. The story is written in a third person omniscient
(although limited) point of view. Miss Brill also interprets the world around her in a similar fashion.
She is her own narrator, watching people around her and filling in their thoughts to create stories to
amuse herself. Compared to most people, Miss Brill s thinking is atypical. Generally, in viewing the
world around him, a person will acknowledge his own presence and feelings. For example, if

As Miss Brill travels from her isolated existence into self awareness, the reader is also taken on the
same trip. The reader s perceptions of Miss Brill during the story mirror and shift along with Miss
Brill s perceptions about herself. The reader is given no real clues about Miss Brill other than her
profession, a teacher, and that she goes to the park every Sunday. Her age is unidentified and hard to
guess; the reader is given no connection between Miss Brill and others her age. In fact, Miss Brill
comes across as much younger than she is, mainly due to her disdain toward older people. She finds
them odd [and] silent . . . from the way they stared they looked as though they d just come from dark
little rooms or even even cupboards! (259). Just as she only focuses on other people, the reader is only
told about the people surrounding her at the park. When she decides that she is an actress, the reader
gains a similar insight about Miss Brill; she sees her world as an intricate show that can be thrown out
of balance by one absence. At the climax of the story, when the two young lovers comment on her
appearance, the reader is suddenly aware of how old Miss Brill really is and how unaware she was
about that fact. Miss Brill and the reader experience the shattering of her self image at the same time.

Boundary Layers During The Early 1900s By Ludwig Prandtl
section{Boundary Layers}
The concept of boundary layers was first thought of in the early 1900s by Ludwig Prandtl. He
presented a paper in Germany in 1904 which outlined a slightly viscous fluid near a solid boundary
cite{Prandtl}. In this paper certain assumptions were made. Firstly the Reynolds number is large, so
the viscous terms can be neglected far away from the solid boundary. Then there exists a thin layer of
fluid near the solid boundary and this fluid is known as a boundary layer. Outside this viscous fluid is
an inviscid fluid region, which gives rises to a multideck structure. This boundary layer has a
thickness of $delta$ and is proportional to Reynolds number by $delta/L propto {Re}^{ 1/2}$, where
$L$ is the characteristic length scale of the solid boundary. The pressure from outside the boundary
layer is not significantly different from the pressure inside the boundary layer. The boundary condition
for pressure can be approximated by the value of upper boundary in the inviscid region. Rescaling the
wall normal coordinate $y$ by the boundary layer thickness ${Re}^{ 1/2}$ implies that we are
located within the boundary layer and this retains some viscous terms. The following scalings are
introduced to perform analysis within a boundary layer

My First Thoughts Of Buffalo State
My first thoughts of Buffalo State, I had many different ideas on what I should expect. First I was very
excited to step foot in a place that I never been. I love experiencing new places. Considering I never
been to the Buffalo State college or even orientation I expected the best. I figured the campus be
beautiful and very spacy. I researched facts about Buffalo State and I was very surprised to see how
many students attended. I love the fact that the college presented a lot of diversity. I also expected that
the college life would be very social since I asked the former students of Buffalo State about it. Of
course I was a little nervous that there was a little chance that it May not be anything close to what I
expected. The helping hands on the college life I expected would be top notch since there were so
many students living on campus. When I received the letter that I would be attending the EOP
program which I applied for I was very excited. I wasn t really sure exactly what EOP actually was but
I hoped for the best. My mom gave me a brief description on what the program was. I didn t like the
fact that it was three weeks long and the first thing that came to my mind when I heard that was my
summer was coming to an end quite early. I didn t think too negative about it but I hoped that it gave

Personal Choices In Romeo And Juliet
Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet can both be a very hard story to read and interpret. The
characters are constantly following things that pop up in their mind and coincidentally happening. I
believe that in both stories Destiny has the greatest impact on multiple things but the main
controversial topic is personal choices. That s why I believe in Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo
and Juliet, Destiny had a greater impact on characters. One example from Romeo and Juliet is when
Romeo accidentally get invited to a Capulets party where coincidentally Juliet is there. If it was the
personal choice that thrived Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party. These are shown in the
play when Romeo says Romeo suggests as much before he goes to the party where he first meets
Juliet: I fear, too early for my minds misgive some consequences yet hanging in the stars. This shows
that without destiny Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party and would have never been
given the opportunity to meet Juliet. Another example of this in Romeo and Juliet is when Juliet finds
out Romeo is of the house of Montague and the nurse says His name is Romeo, and a Montague, THe

Children At Bedtime Is Not Part Of My Parents
As the child snuggles into bed, the mother opens the worn down book filled with vivid, colorful
pictures and words flow out her mouth one by one. This is the scene of many homes every night
across the country, but it never was in my home. Reading to children at bedtime is not part of my
parents culture because they lived in a country where books had never been easily accessible outside
of school. It is at school is where I got exposure to reading and writing and where my literacy journey
began. Since then, my reading and writing has gone through a roller coaster course of events which
has lead them to where it is now.
In Kindergarten, the first place I was surrounded by English, my teacher would place thin picture
books in my shiny, pink book bag that was to be read at home. Once home, I would just place the
book on my dresser. Because nobody in my house, including me, could read the books, the books
collected dust until it was time to take back. I did not care for reading at this time and made no effort
to change. However, the addition of reading and comprehension tests ignited my hatred of reading.
Every so often my teacher would drag a table and two chairs outside into the endless hallway, ignoring
the screeching sound it made as it traveled in to the hallway. She would place a book on the table that
one was to read out loud and in her hands was rubric filled with countless questions that she soon
would ask. My heart would beat rapidly as I waited inside, and with every

A Raisin Of The Sun By Lorraine Hansberry
Lorraine Hansberry, a female playwright and black activist, spent almost all of her life dealing with
American racism, poverty, and lack of social mobility. As a person who witnessed the daily struggles
of African Americans, Hansberry wanted to expose the hypocrisy in the idea that America was the
land of equal opportunity. As a result, in 1959, Hansberry wrote the play, A Raisin in the Sun, which
details the Youngers, an African American family, who experienced racism, poverty, and the lack of
social mobility during the 1950s in Chicago s Southside. Throughout the play, the Younger family
members try to make their respective dreams come true and try to deal with the problems that
surround them. However, the process of one family member achieving his or her own dream stifles
another family member s respective dream. Hansberry uses the Younger family characters to argue
that America is not a land of equal opportunity due to racism, poverty, and the lack of social mobility
and to make American society aware of the disadvantages that African Americans are faced with.
Hansberry uses Walter Younger, an African American male character who aspires to have a better

The Beautiful Land Of Luna Fauncian
In the beautiful land of Luna Fauncian lived a family who gave birth to a baby girl. As she opened her
eyes her tiny fingers pointed to the sky above.
She loves nature, her mother said in awe.
Fauna! Let s name her Fauna in honor of the whimsical land that surrounds us.
And so it was. As Fauna grew up she explored the forest alone and kept to herself because she was too
shy to expose herself to social situations. After all, she enjoyed the presence of nature and the natural
vibe it gave off. Fauna loved nature so much that she was granted control of plants from Zeus to use
when she was in danger. Fauna had no idea of this gift. Then one day a huge boulder came out of no
where, it was a rock monster! The monster was as vicious as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But there was no response. The rock monster had committed the deed he had threatened. She turned

sink into the tides until he was out of sight.
Fauna was in deep despair, she wept for many hours because all the people she loved were taken from
her. Hours had passed, the exhaustion grew heavy, sorrow grew within her...she passed out into a deep
slumber. When she woke she found Hermes hovering over her.
Do you have anything to eat? Hemes asked cheerfully.
She wiped the tears from her eyes, a tear dripped from her palm. As it hit the ground a blueberry bush
flourished into life.
May I take one? Hermes asked.
Of course! Fauna responded.
For the love of Zeus why are you so blue?
Oh nothing I don t want, I mean uhm, I just shouldn t bother you with my troubles.
You can tell me, maybe I can help you, he said with comfort.
I really don t want to bother you but, my family is now a prisoner of Rockes and I can t find them. We
are going to get your family back, even if you think it s too much of me to help! Hermes exclaimed.

Bone Disease from Dyshondroplasia to Osteogenesis...
There are numerous types of bone diseases in the world, however there are some that are considered to
be rare. From Dyshondroplasia to Osteogenesis Imperfecta, these rare diseases have signs and
symptoms that make them completely different from any other diseases. Bone diseases are special in a
sense that they must be treated carefully to prevent the patient from undergoing too much pain. While
some bone diseases, such as osteomalacia, are found more in the elder; there are some that are most
commonly seen in children. Rickets is an example of this, which is why it may be looked upon as an
osteomalacia of the young. Although these two may seem to be similar, there are certain qualities that
make them differ from eachother. Osteomalacia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Homeostasis is a natural balance of our body, and without a good amount of calcium, we lose some of
that balance. The Calcium in the bones is what keeps them strong, without it they tend to become soft
and weak. There are numerous places where people can get their vitamin D, one of the most
commonly known is from exposure to the sun. while too much sun can lead to damaginf effects on the
skin, it is still extremely important to get a decent amount of exposure. Those who are unable to get an
appropriate amount of exposure, for example: modest women who are unallowed to show much skin,
can find vitamin D from different sources. Other sources include fish such as salmon, fortified milk,
and cod liver oil (Holick,2005). If people make a greater effort to have a diet that includes this
vitamin, they are gauranteed to build stronger bones. Anyone can get nutritional rickets, however
some mothers may question the reason behind why their new born child develops it at such a young
age. It all stems back to the mother. It is common for breastfeeding mothers who have low vitamin D
supplementation to pass it onto their kids. So when should mothers be aware of whether or not they
should be breastfeeding their newborn? Some mothers may lack vitamin D because of lack of
exposure to sunlight, they may fear the risk of getting skin cancer(Wharton,2003). These women
should work vitamin D into their diet by the different means listed in

1. Discuss Risk Process and Practices. Why do professionals mandate Risk Management? a) Discuss
Risk Process and Practices.
Project Managers must determine the success criteria for managing a project to identify risks that
could possibly impede customer requirements. Risk Management is a disciplined, systematic process
to obtain the maximum benefits associated with such a management channel. Every project needs
some type of documentation related to risk management activity. This type of management may take

The following six (6) major steps will increase the chances of a successful technique application: 1)
Identify experts and ensure their participation 2) Create the Delphi instrument 3) Have the experts
respond on the instrument 4) Review and restate the responses 5) Gather the experts opinions and
repeat 6) Distribute and apply the data The Delphi technique is a time consuming process, but this
technique is promising in extracting information from experts who might not otherwise contribute to a
project s body of knowledge.
3. Explain the Crawford Slip Method (CSM). The Crawford Slip Method (CSM) is a classic tool used
to combat the negativism inherent in team members while attempting to identify risk and risk
information gathering for a particular product or process. CSM offers a variety of advantages over
other information gathering techniques, in particular, the ability to aggregate large volumes of
information in a very short time period and the complete avoidance of groupthink. CSM is not the
hardest risk management technique to apply when properly facilitated. A clearly established question
is defined by the facilitator and provided to all qualified participants. The participants then document
their response to the clearly established question on a slip of paper. Providing the same clearly

How Did Galileo Contribute To The Scientific Revolution
Galileo was a mathematician, astronomer, physicist, and teacher who played a major role in the
scientific revolution during the Renaissance Era. Galileo put the concepts of experiments, theory and
mathematics together to advance the scientific world. He is often referred to the Father of Science.
Galileo was born February 15, 1564 in Pisa in the Duchy of Florence, Italy. He was the first of six
children born of Giulia Ammannati and Vincenzo Galilei, a musician and music theorist. His family
moved to Florence in 1574 where he started his education at the Camaldolse Monastery in
Vallombrosa. In 1583, Galileo attended the University of Pisa to study medicine; he was exposed to an
Aristotelian view of the world. In 1585, he left the University of Pisa before earning his degree. After
he left, he still continued to study mathematics while he was away from the university. In 1586,
Galileo published his first scientific book, The Little Balance , which described Archimedes method of

Galileo discovered the principle of inertia. He used the balls rolling on an inclined plane experiment,
which means that the balls on an inclined plan would roll to the same position as the initial position.
Galileo also experimented with free falling objects. Aristotle believed that when two objects are
dropped, the heavier object will hit the ground before the lighter object. Galileo proved that theory to
be incorrect when he dropped objects from the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and noticed that objects fall to
the ground at the same time if air resistance is negligible. This experiment helped him come up with
the concept of acceleration. Galileo also proposed the first Theory of Relativity and stated that there is
no physical way to differentiate between a body moving at a constant speed and an immobile body. He
also attempted to measure the speed of light, but discovered that light moved to

You May Ask Yourself, By Sociologist Dalton Conley
Sociologist Dalton Conley wrote his book, You May Ask Yourself, addressing how gender is a social
construction that is so normal for society to think how a man or woman should act towards the public.
Society often categorizes roles that females and males are suppose to play in, but not only are they
categorized they are also being taught what their gender role is suppose to do. The beginning of
gender socialization can start with a child who is not born yet by simply having the parents purchase
items that are all pink if its expected to be a girl, but if its expected to be a boy then everything they
purchase will be blue. Conley states that gender roles are sets of behavioral norms assumed to
accompany ones status as male or female (Conley [2008] 2013:134). So even when a child is growing
into their infant years, toys are made specifically for their gender. By examining how social
construction places gender in categories it becomes apparent that males and females get differentiated
a lot which emphasizes inequality between them.
In a near by Walmart I analyzed some of the toys that were on the boy section. Most of the items that I
saw had an influence of violence and/or job related roles that men are usually known to work in. For
instance, the Nerf N Strillee Elite Cross Bolt Blaster, is designed to make boys feel the experience of
having a real crossbow which can be viewed as a violent toy. This item had two main colors, blue and
orange, which usually signifies as

Theme Of The Revolution In The Minerva
Minvera Mirabal stood as a symbol of revolution to those who wanted to see the downfall of Rafael
Trujillo. Her and two of her three sisters were advocates of the revolution until the sad ending of the
story in which the three sisters were killed in a car crash. But before the ending of the Mirabal sisters
can be discussed, the life of Minerva and the point she developed her political principles must be
addressed. As a young child, Minerva Mirabal always spoke her mind, despite her mother s wishes
that she would bite her tongue but Minerva would argue that women deserve to have a voice in their
country, the Dominican Republic, as well. The time in which this story is set is during the regime of
Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, a strict dictator with suffocating policies. Brutal oppression of actual or
perceived members of any opposition was the main focus of Trujillo s rule. If any person spoke out
against Trujillo, they were almost immediately assassinated. However, young Minerva possessed
strong opinions mostly about the treatment of women, but this would eventually change to become a
complete revolt against Trujillo and his policies. Minerva s coming of age was over a period of time
and the biggest change wasn t directly stated in the novel. Sinita and Lio both played major roles in
pushing Minerva to revolt against Trujillo, Sinita passionately telling Minerva of the cruelties of
Trujillo and how it affected her family and Lio being a young professor at the university that

White Man s Burden Imperialism
Views on Imperialism
Imperialism is the extension of a nation s authority by territorial acquisitions or by the establishment
of economic and political dominance over other nations (American Heritage Dictionary). Both
Imperialists and Anti Imperialists in the late nineteeth century published arguments for or against the
justification of Westerners civilizing less advanced peoples. Western societies Imperialist motives
were to further their own economic and political standings. Humanitarianism outreach and Social
Darwinism were excuses to assert Western dominance. British writer, Rudyard Kipling s poem The

Beowulf Good Vs Evil
Beowulf Good vs. Evil
Throughout Beowulf, the concept of good vs. evil is not only expressed, but is capitalized on
continuously. Beowulf is the protagonist in the adventure and has a clearly defined counterpart:
Grendel; the evil entity. They are put against each other numerous times as a representation of how
there will be a never ending quarrel between good and evil. This can be compared to a specifically
recent event: the Las Vegas terror attack. Though this may only be one event, the threat of terror
attacks has been a constant concern; the Las Vegas, only being more severe and recent. This constant
tension between the terrorists and the people is just as that of Beowulf and Grendel: never ending. A

Examples Of Objection In The Form Of A Question
2.3.1.5 Objection in the Form of a Question The combination of a question with disagreement is
effective especially with respect to action restriction because both them called an answer (Locher,
2004). Furthermore, disagreement in the form of question is considered as less directly. Locher quoted
Leech s (1983) opinion that indirectness is more polite than the direct utterances. The function of this
strategy is to ask for a referential clarification of the previous statement, which contains disagreement.
For example given in Conversation Example 4 bellow. Conversation Example: George : I believe this
company will get many profit in around 5 months. Steven : It can be? In this short conversation we
could understand that Steven is showing his disagreement by giving question to George. 2.3.1.6 The
Use of but The position of but in a statement influences the function of its use (Locher, 2004). When
but occurred at the beginning of a speaker s new turn and was used to attempt to get the floor as well
as to oppose a previous speaker s contribution. However, when but occurred within the turn of the
same speaker, it was used to indicate disagreement with a previous speaker s utterance. The example
is in Conversation Example 5 bellow. Conversation Example 5 Tom : ^fine [^thank you very much]

Essay about Carol Ann Duffy s Mean Time
Carol Ann Duffy s Mean Time
Carol Ann Duffy s poem Mean Time is about loss of love and the different ways in which time brings
about change or loss of life itself. The poem is very personal and autobiographical to Duffy s life as
are most of her poems. Mean Time is based on mourning your lost love and how regrets seem
meaningless when one day you get up and realise its not just time which has passed you by, but time
has stolen your life too, and in the end it will only be the mourning that you regret. The idea of time
and how it is finite is one of the main themes in the poem.

The stanza is ended by stating that it s our mistakes she is recognising that her partner is not all to
blame and they need to share mistakes, this shows the first sign of putting her life back together.
The poem moves on and tells us how she wants just one hour to be lifted so she would never have said
the words she did. This sets the tone for the whole poem; regret and longing. It makes the reader feel
that she has wasted enough time of her life on this one man, its time to move on. However one
moment she is regretting spending too much time mourning her lost love, now she is stepping over old
territory again, which makes the poem a bit cliché, so the sympathy for the woman is now lost.
One of the last important themes of Mean Time is conveyed in the final stanza, this is how time is
finite we will be dead because death is rapidly approaching everyone, which highlights the fact that
mourning is pointless. This is where the reader can relate to Duffy because they can share their
mistakes too because the events in the poem can happen to all most anybody. I believe that Duffy s
conclusion is do not let your heart take control of your life, you need to no when to move on.
The language throughout is very calm and well organised which helps

Advantages And Differences Of Catholic School And Public...
In America today, Americans have progressively paid more attention to the schooling process, trying
harder to get the best education possible for their children. Catholic schools and Public schools both
have advantages and disadvantages. Today, parents choose whether they would like to have their child
in a public or private school. Both schools provide education and opportunities for students, but the
decision of where to go is based on preferences of the parents. As educational institutions, Catholic
Schools and Public schools are similar, yet different. The instructors in both Catholic and Public
schools have similar teaching skills, yet differences exist. Catholic school reputation is one of being
uptight and strict. The strictness of Catholic schools focuses on how long the uniform skirt is, having
the uniform shirt always tucked in, wearing the right ankle socks, and not wearing makeup. Catholic
schools discipline is not extreme. If a student becomes in trouble, the instructor would call the parents,
there is not detention. Catholic school is very conservative. Catholic schools have certain numbers of
students, so they are not exposed to different types of people. Catholic school held a high reputation
on how students should act in class. Being Catholic was very important in the school, and if not
Catholic the students would judge the non Catholic. Public school is opened to people with different
preferences. The open mindedness of Public schools allows students to

Thomas is particularly upset that Lambert approached and questioned one of his staff without his prior

Chris Martinas, vice president of Product Development, argues that the iScanner product can be
brought to market with minimal hardware changes. He believes that Marketing and Software
Development can work together to work out the details. While he may be correct in his evaluation
about minimal hardware changes, he has not considered software changes that may be required.
Overall, no single staff member appears to be interested in taking responsibility or ownership of the
project. Martinas is leaving it in the hands of Lambert and Thomas. Lambert expects Thomas to get
the software side working, and Thomas is claiming that his people already have too much to do.
Conclusions
Pat Lambert and Kelly Thomas are at an emotional standstill. Lambert has alienated Thomas and thus
will find it difficult to encourage him to motivate his staff. This has been caused in part by Lambert s
unrealistic expectations of the design team. The issue was further intensified when Lambert
approached a member of Thomas team without his knowledge.

creativity within the creative industries
This essay will discuss about the creativity within the creative industries and creative economy .
Creativity is the new word and the new value in economy. A class of creative people is replacing white
and blue collars changing the way the world used to define the society in the last centuries. Creative
industries can flourish in dense populated areas where are possible multiple and continued connections
between creative people. Although governments are trying to introduce the teaching of creativity in
the educational system to foster the growth of the creative economy, creativity is sometimes

More deeply, the whole idea of creative industries describes the convergence of the creative arts
(represented by the individual talent) with the cultural industries (represented by mass scale), linking

also a mix of public and private partnership. Indeed government agencies and universities are involved
in the growth of some of the biggest creative clusters, such as the Silicon Valley and the creative

According to Howkins and Florida, creative industries can flourish in dense populated areas, like big

Different Personalities in Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli Essay
How far can you go to lose yourself? What distance are we willing to tred to dim the glow of your
own starlight? In Jerry Spinelli s Stargirl several characters have vastly different personalities. Or do
they? Is Leo Borlock really different from Hillary Kimble? Do they not both care for normality? For
the attention of others? When Stargirl Caraway arrives, a butterfly engulfed by mist, the world shifted
and grasped for an opportunity to hold onto something... divergent. An anomaly so far down their
path, they could hardly reach it. So they grow to hate it, dead grass rising but never quite touching the
soft delicacy of Stargirl s petals. If something can t be understood, it is not good enough to be loved.
That s how we ve all been raised; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is society as a whole telling us the individuality can be reached while raising you to conform to its
generalized population. In the previously cited book, Stargirl Caraway embodies this idea. Leo
Borlock, on the other hand, embodies the rest of us. As children, our minds are our own, and we
follow the ways of this extrovert girl that thinks deserts dance and enchanted places are a reality.
While, as we grow society has unexplicitly forced us to follow the group, because they have really not
given us any other options. This can be related to Robert Frost s poem Nothing Gold Can Stay in
which children are unique and golden, although slowly they begin to see things with the rest of the
world, through a single point of view, and lose their individual color.
Furthermore, any person s individuality is delicate. And extremely fragile. A friend or loved one can
very easily change someone, even if it s very slight. As kids, we have idols. People we deeply admire
and wish to be like. We do anything, even while growing up, to bend ourselves to become what we
feel is comfortably close to our hero. This is why we large populations torturing their bodies
physically and mentally to achieve their goal. We re all little people pleasers fighting relentlessly for a
taste of feeling perfect. On and on we struggle for approval, and we don t even know whose. Leo, for
example, would do anything to receive approval from Stargirl, the girl he loves. As she proved
mutually for him, when

Why I Write Joan Didion On Keeping A Notebook Summary
Response to Didion Readings Throughout her writing Joan Didion brings up many important points
and reasons to write that apply to all types of people from professional writers to average people.
Didion uses an approach that allows many people to understand the importance of writing in everyone
s life. In both Why I Write and On Keeping a Notebook readers are able to find the personal
importance of writing from recalling the past, to finding an answer, and even simply expressing
personal thoughts and feelings. Memory and recalling the past is an important part of the lives of
many people. Everyone has a memory that they hold dear or that reminds them of a special part of
their life. Through her writing, Didion amplifies the importance of writing down the things that
happen directly to a person or occur around them. She believes that writing down what is happening is
a way to reconnect to a memory. It may be a small and random detail about something that sparks the
memory of a very important part of life or reminds us of the person we used to be. The things written
may seem insignificant but it all comes back and has an important impact on the memories we have

She states that she write(s) entirely to find out (she) is thinking, what (she) is looking at, what (she)
sees and what it means (p10). She uses writing to find answers by writing down questions and
unknowns and continues to write until the questions are answered and the unknowns become clear. It
is a practice that many people can use in today s world. There are always new problems arising from
small day to day questions to large and important life decisions. Didion s method is one of the many
ways to overcome problems and find answers to life s many

Buying coffee at the local coffee shop down the street, we see the Fair Trade logo and wonder whether ordering Fair Trade coffee rather than conventional coffee really supports farmers in unindustrialized countries. In other words, does Fair Trade work? The Fair Trade initiative aims to improve the living conditions of producers in developing nations. The goals of Fair Trade are to achieve higher prices for producers, greater availability of financing for producers, longer term and more sustainable buyer seller relationships, improved social goods and community development, and the use of environmentally friendly production processes. • 3. My Experience At The University Of Oklahoma According to the literal definition, hard work is a broad term that encompasses a vast amount of the human population. I believe that the term is thrown around so often that it has almost become meaningless. In my mind, hard work is throwing yourself into difficult situations and remaining both dedicated and determined to conquer the task. Although the desired outcome is not always reached, hard work remains an important value that allows us to show our full potential. I have been constantly put in tough situations throughout my life and if it were not for my dedication and hard work, I would not have made it to where I am today. Being enrolled at the University of Oklahoma is a huge accomplishment. The journey began 14 years ago when I enrolled in kindergarten at Jenks East Elementary in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As I grew older, classwork gradually became harder and the fun activities, such as recess, came to a screeching halt in the sixth grade. Starting with seventh grade, school just became a daily task that I had to force myself to get through. However, I began receiving high school credit that year and so I told myself that I had to do well in order to make it to the next level, college. When high school came around, I had to pay attention to every class because it had the ability to permanently stain my transcript. I knew my transcript was an important part of the college enrollment process, so I did everything that I could in order to create an image that would appeal to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Erving Goffman was one of the most important Sociologists in the 20th century who focussed his study on aspects of social life. It is often argued that Goffman was one of the twentieth century s most remarkable practitioners of social science (Smith, 2006:1). He was born on the 11th June 1922 in Alberta, Canada. His parents were Jewish and part of the group of Ukrainians who moved to Canada before the beginning of the First World War. He also implies how an individual will be focussed on making a favourable show of him (a good impression) which gives another explanation to why humans can be seen as actors in situations of social interaction, they act how they think the audience (observers) want them to act. To summarise his chapter on presentation Goffman s primary assumption is that individuals differ not by their specific qualities, but by the situations they find themselves in to which they adopt different roles to perform for the observer . For this work Goffman gained inspiration from his own personal experiences, as his wife struggled with mental illness and he chose to travel to the Shetland Islands to study the interaction in their society. His wife s illness may have shaped his argument as another key piece of his work was Asylums where he carried out fieldwork in a hospital where he wished to look at the social world of an inmate. In his findings he was very critical and stated how behaviour that was deemed out of the ordinary was simply someone not conforming to the rules and expectations of society. If those rules or norms/values are broken that person would be viewed as an outsider and therefore displays an inability to play the role of an actor . A key theorist behind his work is Herbert Mead who published a book Mind, Self and Society and he looked at the experiences of human beings and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The next step is to analyze how each of those factors could affect the topic or issue that the analyst is focusing on. The final step of outside in thinking is to judge whether or not the factors you identified are relevant to the issue at hand. The Inequality Of Latin America In the 1500s, Spanish and Portuguese colonizers imposed their language, their religion, and their social institutions on the indigenous Americans and enslaved Africans, people who labored for them in mines and fields and who served them, too, at table and in bed (Chasteen 5). Many people would say this is where inequality in Latin America began, with colonization. However, colonization is just a small piece of the roots of inequality of the region, which actually started with the natives of the lands such as the Incas, Aztecs and Mayans. These three empires ruled most of the Latin American region and did so by conquering other native groups or tribes. Despite the slight distinction between the two, they did not receive the same land and power as the Peninsulars because of their birthplace, which caused resentment and later sparked revolution. Next were the Mestizos, who were of European and indigenous American decent. The more the different ethnicities mixed, the more class distinctions were created. Because they introduced foreign diseases, the Europeans and Africans eventually replaced the indigenous Americans and brought about the potential for rich diversity. Social class typically ranged from the most European being the best off to the most indigenous or African being the poorest. The original sin of Latin American history the festering social injustice at the core had done its durable damage (Chasteen 42). In addition, the social and political systems created by the Peninsulars were intended to serve their home country, only making matters worse. Those who grew up with little to no technology are now around their 50 s or older, which are categorized as digital immigrants. In contrast, those who grew up with technology are considered digital natives. I feel like those who are digital natives have better lives than those who grew up being digital immigrants. For example, today s world it is a lot easier for people to communicate and reach others family members or friends from across the world even though one is laying on their bed drinking some hot chocolate. Hall Of Justice Analysis During the conversation between Joe and Louis in Act II, Scene 7, Joe explains that the day before, he accidentally showed up for work at the Hall of Justice on a Sunday. Due to the fact that the Hall is closed on Sundays, Joe arrived to discover a deserted courthouse and panicked, thinking, The whole Hall of Justice, it s empty, it s deserted, it s gone out of business. Forever (Kushner 78). Although it was deserted simply due to the fact that it was Sunday, the empty Hall of Justice symbolizes freedom. Specifically, this can be seen when Joe states, It would be...heartless terror. Yes. Terrible, and...Very great. Then will evaluate and investigate the physics behind the gun. Aim: The purpose of this investigation the efficiency of a coil gun using the relationship between the number of coils and the distance the projectile travelled. Hypothesis: In this investigation there is a relationship between the number of coils and the distance the projectile travelled. Therefore the more coils the further the projectiles will travel (cm). Prediction: As more coils are wrapped around the gun, the distance of the projectile will increase. Literature Review: Coil gun A coilgun (aka gun Gauss, Gauss Gauss cannon or rifle) is a type of gun that uses a series of electromagnets for magnetically accelerate a projectile at high speed. The name Gauss gun comes from Carl Friedrich Gauss, who formulated the mathematical proofs of the electromagnetic effect used by Gauss cannons. The Gauss cannons are often called wrongly railguns from various sources, and while they are similar in general concept (ie, a magnetic weapon), differ in operation, since a railgun accelerates the missiles on two rails parallel conductors. The Gauss cannons are in substance identical to the projector mass, albeit on a smaller scale. First, it illustrates how Miss Brill herself views the world and, second, it helps the reader take the same journey of burgeoning awareness as Miss Brill. The story is written in a third person omniscient (although limited) point of view. Miss Brill also interprets the world around her in a similar fashion. She is her own narrator, watching people around her and filling in their thoughts to create stories to amuse herself. Compared to most people, Miss Brill s thinking is atypical. • 18. Boundary Layers During The Early 1900s By Ludwig Prandtl section{Boundary Layers} The concept of boundary layers was first thought of in the early 1900s by Ludwig Prandtl. He presented a paper in Germany in 1904 which outlined a slightly viscous fluid near a solid boundary cite{Prandtl}. In this paper certain assumptions were made. Firstly the Reynolds number is large, so the viscous terms can be neglected far away from the solid boundary. Then there exists a thin layer of fluid near the solid boundary and this fluid is known as a boundary layer. Outside this viscous fluid is an inviscid fluid region, which gives rises to a multideck structure. This boundary layer has a thickness of $delta$ and is proportional to Reynolds number by $delta/L propto {Re}^{ 1/2}$, where $L$ is the characteristic length scale of the solid boundary. The pressure from outside the boundary layer is not significantly different from the pressure inside the boundary layer. The boundary condition for pressure can be approximated by the value of upper boundary in the inviscid region. Rescaling the wall normal coordinate $y$ by the boundary layer thickness ${Re}^{ 1/2}$ implies that we are located within the boundary layer and this retains some viscous terms. The following scalings are introduced to perform analysis within a boundary layer egin{eqnarray} x^*=xL, quad y^*=delta yL,quad z^*=zL,quad p^*= ho{U_{infty}}^2p, label{BL_nondim1} {u}^*=U_{infty}{u}, quad {v}^*=epsilon U_{infty}{v}, quad {w}^*=U_{infty}{w}. label{BL_nondim2} end{eqnarray} The ... The characters are constantly following things that pop up in their mind and coincidentally happening. I believe that in both stories Destiny has the greatest impact on multiple things but the main controversial topic is personal choices. That s why I believe in Ovid s PT and Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, Destiny had a greater impact on characters. One example from Romeo and Juliet is when Romeo accidentally get invited to a Capulets party where coincidentally Juliet is there. If it was the personal choice that thrived Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party. These are shown in the play when Romeo says Romeo suggests as much before he goes to the party where he first meets Juliet: I fear, too early for my minds misgive some consequences yet hanging in the stars. This shows that without destiny Romeo would have chosen not to go to the party and would have never been given the opportunity to meet Juliet. • 22. A Raisin Of The Sun By Lorraine Hansberry Lorraine Hansberry, a female playwright and black activist, spent almost all of her life dealing with American racism, poverty, and lack of social mobility. As a person who witnessed the daily struggles of African Americans, Hansberry wanted to expose the hypocrisy in the idea that America was the land of equal opportunity. As a result, in 1959, Hansberry wrote the play, A Raisin in the Sun, which details the Youngers, an African American family, who experienced racism, poverty, and the lack of social mobility during the 1950s in Chicago s Southside. Throughout the play, the Younger family members try to make their respective dreams come true and try to deal with the problems that surround them. However, the process of one family member achieving his or her own dream stifles another family member s respective dream. Hansberry uses the Younger family characters to argue that America is not a land of equal opportunity due to racism, poverty, and the lack of social mobility and to make American society aware of the disadvantages that African Americans are faced with. Hansberry uses Walter Younger, an African American male character who aspires to have a better socioeconomic position in the United States, to reveal the economic and social inequities African Americans face. During the play, Walter Younger states that he is tired of everything [...] [and] the way [they] live (Hansberry 32) because he doesn t have a career to help him move up in society and all he can give is ... You May Ask Yourself, By Sociologist Dalton Conley Sociologist Dalton Conley wrote his book, You May Ask Yourself, addressing how gender is a social construction that is so normal for society to think how a man or woman should act towards the public. Society often categorizes roles that females and males are suppose to play in, but not only are they categorized they are also being taught what their gender role is suppose to do. The beginning of gender socialization can start with a child who is not born yet by simply having the parents purchase items that are all pink if its expected to be a girl, but if its expected to be a boy then everything they purchase will be blue. Conley states that gender roles are sets of behavioral norms assumed to accompany ones status as male or female (Conley [2008] 2013:134). So even when a child is growing into their infant years, toys are made specifically for their gender. By examining how social construction places gender in categories it becomes apparent that males and females get differentiated a lot which emphasizes inequality between them. In a near by Walmart I analyzed some of the toys that were on the boy section. • 34. Examples Of Objection In The Form Of A Question 2.3.1.5 Objection in the Form of a Question The combination of a question with disagreement is effective especially with respect to action restriction because both them called an answer (Locher, 2004). Furthermore, disagreement in the form of question is considered as less directly. Locher quoted Leech s (1983) opinion that indirectness is more polite than the direct utterances. The function of this strategy is to ask for a referential clarification of the previous statement, which contains disagreement. For example given in Conversation Example 4 bellow. Conversation Example: George : I believe this company will get many profit in around 5 months. Steven : It can be? In this short conversation we could understand that Steven is showing his disagreement by giving question to George. 2.3.1.6 The Use of but The position of but in a statement influences the function of its use (Locher, 2004). When but occurred at the beginning of a speaker s new turn and was used to attempt to get the floor as well as to oppose a previous speaker s contribution. However, when but occurred within the turn of the same speaker, it was used to indicate disagreement with a previous speaker s utterance. The example is in Conversation Example 5 bellow. • 35. Essay about Carol Ann Duffy s Mean Time Carol Ann Duffy s Mean Time Carol Ann Duffy s poem Mean Time is about loss of love and the different ways in which time brings about change or loss of life itself. The poem is very personal and autobiographical to Duffy s life as are most of her poems. Mean Time is based on mourning your lost love and how regrets seem meaningless when one day you get up and realise its not just time which has passed you by, but time has stolen your life too, and in the end it will only be the mourning that you regret. The idea of time and how it is finite is one of the main themes in the poem. The title Mean Time could be emphasising a few points one of which is how time can be mean when one needs a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stanza is ended by stating that it s our mistakes she is recognising that her partner is not all to blame and they need to share mistakes, this shows the first sign of putting her life back together. The poem moves on and tells us how she wants just one hour to be lifted so she would never have said the words she did. This sets the tone for the whole poem; regret and longing. It makes the reader feel that she has wasted enough time of her life on this one man, its time to move on. However one moment she is regretting spending too much time mourning her lost love, now she is stepping over old territory again, which makes the poem a bit cliché, so the sympathy for the woman is now lost. One of the last important themes of Mean Time is conveyed in the final stanza, this is how time is finite we will be dead because death is rapidly approaching everyone, which highlights the fact that mourning is pointless. This is where the reader can relate to Duffy because they can share their mistakes too because the events in the poem can happen to all most anybody. I believe that Duffy s conclusion is do not let your heart take control of your life, you need to no when to move on. The language throughout is very calm and well organised which helps ... • 36. Advantages And Differences Of Catholic School And Public... In America today, Americans have progressively paid more attention to the schooling process, trying harder to get the best education possible for their children. Catholic schools and Public schools both have advantages and disadvantages. Today, parents choose whether they would like to have their child in a public or private school. Both schools provide education and opportunities for students, but the decision of where to go is based on preferences of the parents. As educational institutions, Catholic Schools and Public schools are similar, yet different. The instructors in both Catholic and Public schools have similar teaching skills, yet differences exist. Catholic school reputation is one of being uptight and strict. The strictness of Catholic schools focuses on how long the uniform skirt is, having the uniform shirt always tucked in, wearing the right ankle socks, and not wearing makeup. Catholic schools discipline is not extreme. If a student becomes in trouble, the instructor would call the parents, there is not detention. Catholic school is very conservative. Catholic schools have certain numbers of students, so they are not exposed to different types of people. Catholic school held a high reputation on how students should act in class. Being Catholic was very important in the school, and if not Catholic the students would judge the non Catholic. Public school is opened to people with different preferences.
