Let’s face it. We’ve all taken bad training. You know, the kind...the "hold-your-nose-and-get-through-it-as-fast-as-you-can" training.
What happens when you’re the one tasked with learning and development in your organization? How do you really know if your training programs measure up?
Here are six mistakes to avoid to ensure your training programs don’t stink.
This presentation is designed to help those in an active job search to make the most of their LinkedIn.com experience. I have personally used all of these techniques and it helped me to find a good job twice, including my current position as a HR Manager for a wonderful organization.
Do you want to stand out among your peers, get noticed, and land the interview?
A resume should not list your daily responsibilities for each career you held, rather your quantifiable achievements. So, what are quantifiable achievements/accomplishments? This means being able to apply numbers to what you actually do for your place of employment.
How to Capture a Hiring Recruiter's AttentionTracy Lube
Want to capture the attention of the hiring manager? You need quantifiable and high impact statements. So, what are quantifiable achievements/accomplishments? This means being able to apply numbers to what you actually do for your place of employment. Quantifiable example included and some very helpful links.
Climbing the Learning Curve for Performance Support Project RookiesChristopher King
There are critical first steps to take when designing a Performance Support solution that fits both the needs and culture of your organization. We examine valuable lessons for anyone launching their first performance support solution, and study lessons from other first-time performance support efforts that reinforce the importance of a client champion, and the consequences of not clearly explaining what you're doing and why. This is based on my experience as a PM and conversations with other PMs on things they will definitely repeat, and things they don’t want to do ever again.
Whether you're lucky enough to be the first to run a performance support project, or just engaged in grassroots guerrilla performance support, this presentation introduces some of the basic skills and approaches anyone can use to get started with a performance support project.
Meeting the Needs of a Rapidly Changing Workforce: the Learning Organization ...Natalie Laderas-Kilkenny
Automation will change the nature of jobs and the training needs of our workforce will change along with them. Technology hasn't just defined how we consume information, it's changing how we learn. It's time to rethink learning at your company starting with re-examining how learning can happen with new attitudes, tools, & technologies..
1. The document describes the design process for a web resource and learning tool to provide information about the Education Award to users.
2. The designers conducted user research through personas to understand learner needs and goals in order to design the site around those needs.
3. They created wireframes and prototypes to test the design before building out the full site using a content management system that could package information for different user types.
Overcoming Top 10 Objections To Social Learning V2Mzinga
The document discusses overcoming objections to social learning. It outlines 5 common objections: 1) employees will socialize instead of work; 2) lack of content control; 3) inaccurate information; 4) relevance to training; and 5) lack of ROI measurement. For each objection, the presenters Dave Wilkins and Kevin Jones provide counterpoints on how social learning addresses the concern and can improve learning outcomes. They encourage participants to submit additional objections for discussion.

Implementing 70:20:10 - A demonstration of a Proven Support Solution: Toolkit...David Nichol
Numerous successful organisations currently use the online Toolkit for Managers to support their management populations. We’d like to show you why, by demonstrating how this resource delivers flexible, inspirational performance support for your leaders and managers.
We are all learning most of the time, but we often don’t recognise this! Many people only feel they have had some development if they have been on a course. Courses can be a great way to develop people, though they can be expensive and people are not always able to put what they have learned into practice when they come back to the work place.
In this on demand webinar, Developing People with the 70/20/10 Model, Jayne McPhillimy has introduced different ways of recognising, and therefore encouraging the development of your people through a range of interventions.
These interventions are often more effective than a traditional course approach and are invariably a more cost effective option.
At the end of this practical on demand webinar recording, you will:
Understand the 70/20/10 Model for Learning & Development and how this approach could support the development of the people in your business.
Widen the scope for what is considered to be learning and development activity in your business.
Understand how you can use this approach to build a ‘Learning Culture’, where people firstly recognise the learning opportunities around them and then actively seek them out.
Be able to move people away from the idea that learning only happens on a Training Course
This webinar is aimed at all those involved in developing staff from HR Managers to Senior Business Leaders and Managers.

Beyond the Classroom: Non-Traditional Careers in EducationMeagen Farrell
Beyond the Classroom discusses non-traditional career options in education. It outlines various areas where one can work outside of the traditional classroom, such as educational consulting, adult literacy programs, summer camps, and administrative roles. It also shares the story of how the author became an educational consultant after working in adult literacy. The document provides advice on gaining experience through volunteering, networking, and developing skills that are marketable to potential employers or clients in non-traditional educational fields.
This document provides information on graduate schemes, including what they are, how to find them, and tips for the application process. A graduate scheme is a structured training program offered by large employers that combines work experience with training over 3 months to 3 years, usually leading to a permanent role. They can provide valuable skills and experience. However, applying is very competitive with a long process involving forms, assessments, and deadlines. The document offers advice on finding schemes through careers fairs, websites, networks and internships, as well as tips for applications, CVs, interviews and resilience during the process.
1. The document provides guidance on planning, funding, and executing projects. It discusses refining organizational identity, applying the project lifecycle and planning, creating SMART goals, and obtaining government funding.
2. Key aspects of project planning covered include developing a mission and vision, conducting environmental and needs assessments, using tools like SWOT analysis, and creating strategic plans and goals.
3. The document emphasizes using a logical framework approach to project planning, which involves setting SMART goals and reviewing plans through the PDCA cycle.
The future of work is remote — meaning a continuation of digital meetings. Collaboration tools may be user-friendly but learning to effectively lead a meeting in a digital environment requires a new way of thinking and preparing.
Insight virtual training experts Michele Snead and Jill Blasey-Ciociola prepared this presentation to help employees, teachers and coaches conduct more effective virtual meetings.
This document provides a method for content leaders to identify high-impact content initiatives. It involves a two-step process: 1) being a detective to find known business and content priorities by talking to stakeholders and rating importance, and 2) being a learner to assess strategic, content, and practice readiness by evaluating strengths and gaps. Examples are given of applying this method to potential initiatives around improving customer experience and encouraging energy conservation. The overall goal is to select initiatives that align with organizational needs and priorities and that the content team is ready to implement successfully.
This document provides an overview of a presentation on gaining employment. It discusses how the job market has changed and become more complex with the rise of technologies like social media. Old methods like resumes, interviews, and job ads have been replaced by online profiles, video interviews, and targeted job boards. It emphasizes developing personal branding and emotional intelligence to stand out. It proposes that a gainful employment course should cover topics like personal branding, networking, interview skills, and enhancing one's value to employers. The document promotes a career development program and kit that teaches owning your career through developing a unique value and compelling brand on social media.
Would you like to know how to succeed in an interview but don't know where to start? Are you getting ready for an assessment centre or a telephone interview and wonder what to prepare for?
This presentation is for all the students and graduates who are currently battling the job hunt, be it an internship, placement or a graduate role. Find the best tips, hints and lessons learnt and get to know some useful resources for your preparation.

Understanding these terms is essential for designers to successfully use type to communicate ideas.
The document discusses keys to success in online learning. It outlines benefits like flexible scheduling and interactivity, as well as challenges such as needing strong self-motivation. Successful online students are self-starters, structure their time, and develop relationships. The document also explores online course components, such as learning management systems and assignments, and practices for online learning success, including time management, accountability, developing new skills, and asking for help.
Elem of design unit 1 module 2 psychology of color kateridrex
The document discusses how color can convey different meanings and emotions such as hot, cool, new, old, safe, dangerous, exciting, and futuristic. It also notes that the amount of a color used is important for its message. Learners are asked to analyze images and assess the emotions portrayed based on the psychology and symbolism of color discussed in a previous unit.
Wd131 unit 5 module 3 understanding expressive naturekateridrex
This document discusses how texture can impact the emotion conveyed in design projects. It provides examples of texture for a class on fundamentals of design. The class materials cover texture and patterns, specifically understanding the expressive potential of different textures and patterns.

The document discusses filters in Photoshop, explaining that preset filters can be accessed through the filter menu and gallery to modify images. It demonstrates applying various filters like rough pastels, cutout, colored pencil, poster edges, glowing edges, dark strokes, and stained glass to the same image for comparison.
Using Technology in the Higher Ed Classroomkateridrex
The document discusses effective uses of technology in onsite, online, and blended classrooms. It outlines how the current generation has grown up in a networked world and are comfortable using various technologies. It then provides examples of how instructors can incorporate tools like videos, podcasts, social media and collaboration platforms to enhance lesson presentation, interaction, storytelling and group work. Specific free media, audio, presentation, diagram and collaboration tools are also recommended. Student engagement strategies like case studies and workshops are mentioned. Resources for multimedia delivery, learner support and instructor materials are provided.
Elem of design unit 4 module 1 structure of typekateridrex
The document discusses key terminology related to type, including readability, legibility, leading, kerning, tracking, justified text, and white space. It states that readability refers to how type is arranged based on factors like point size and letter-spacing, while legibility refers to characteristics of the typeface like size, shape, and strokes that distinguish letters. The document provides examples of how these various type properties can impact readability and legibility.
Elem of design unit 8 module 3 working with text on a framekateridrex
To add text in InDesign, a text frame must be created to hold the copy. Text can be single or multiple columns and can include features like drop caps and indents. Copy can be aligned in different ways within the frame, such as top, centered, bottom, or justified. Text wraps help space text around inserted images, and the text wrap menu assists in creating image wraps by selecting wrap styles and determining the text offset distance from images.

Dig imag unit 11 module 3 creating buttonskateridrex
This document discusses how to create buttons for websites. It explains that buttons guide users through a site and that creating custom buttons can make them more unique and prominent. It provides instructions for designing buttons using Photoshop by drawing shapes and adding colors or gradients to create the normal state layer. Additional layers should then be used to create variations showing the rollover, mouse down, and active states of the button. The finished button image can then be saved for use on a website.
Dig imag unit 11 module 1 understanding web graphicskateridrex
There are key differences in creating images for the web versus print. Images for the web are typically lower resolution at 72dpi, compressed for faster loading, and not suitable for resizing or printing. It is important for designers to understand how to optimize graphics for web and mobile by using the proper resolution, compression, and rendering custom fonts as images to ensure consistency across devices.
Dig imag unit 10 module 1 advanced type effectskateridrex
The document discusses advanced image manipulation techniques for creating unique type effects. It explains that image editing software can be used to apply filters, color adjustments, and masking to produce stylized text like samples shown. The document is part of a unit on advanced image manipulation, with a module focusing on advanced type effects using combinations of editing tools.
Dig imag unit 9 module 2 modifying shapeskateridrex
Modifying shapes in digital imaging involves using the add or subtract pen tool, which are accessed by holding down the pen tool. To make a straight shape, click each corner point and then the starting point to finish. To make a curved shape, click to start and drag between points to curve the line, clicking each point to complete the shape.
Dig imag unit 9 module 1 working with the pen toolkateridrex
This document discusses using the pen tool in digital imaging software. It explains that the pen tool allows for precise drawing and creation of paths around images. The pen tool can be used to draw both straight and curved lines by clicking points and dragging to form curves. Mastering the pen tool makes complex tasks like clipping paths easier.
Dig imag unit 8 module 3 making color correctionskateridrex
This document discusses color corrections in image editing. It explains that color corrections can be done directly to an image or by using adjustment layers. The Levels and Color Balance tools are introduced as methods to adjust highlights, shadows, midtones and specific color areas. Care is advised when correcting skin tones, as adjustments can easily make skin appear too red or green. Masks are recommended to isolate problem areas before color adjustments.
Dig imag unit 8 module 2 creating and saving alpha channelskateridrex
Alpha channels store masks that protect selected image areas from editing. To create an alpha channel, click the New Channel button and paint on the new channel using the paintbrush tool to mask out image areas. Alpha channels can then be edited by using the paintbrush tool to add or delete masked areas by painting with black or white respectively.
Dig imag unit 8 module 1 understanding channelskateridrex
Channels store color information for images and there are typically four channels for RGB images and five for CMYK images. Channels are automatically created when an image is opened and can be found in the channels palette accessed through the Window menu. Channels are used to make color adjustments to images and to create masks and special effects.
Dig imag unit 7 module 2 adjusting filterskateridrex
This document discusses adjusting preset filters in digital imaging by using sliders to modify filters and then applying color adjustment techniques. It provides an example of increasing hue and saturation on an image by applying the glowing edges filter twice and adjusting the filter settings. The key point is that preset filters can be customized through adjustment sliders and reapplying filters allows for endless creative possibilities.
Dig imag unit 6 module 3 using clipping maskskateridrex
A clipping mask allows for masking effects by using two layers, where the bottom layer acts as the masking agent. To create a clipping mask, place the desired shape on the bottom layer, then select the image layer above and choose "Create Clipping Path" from the fly out menu, which will mask the top image layer to the shape of the bottom layer.
Dig imag unit 6 module 2 using adjustment layerskateridrex
Photoshop offers adjustment layers that allow non-destructive editing of images. Adjustment layers apply effects like brightness, contrast, levels, curves without altering the original image. Common adjustment layers include brightness/contrast, levels, curves, color balance, hue/saturation, exposure, and novelty layers like invert and posterize. Adjustment layers provide flexibility to modify images without permanently changing pixels.
Dig imag unit 6 module 1 working with layer maskskateridrex
Layer masks allow selective modification of a layer's opacity rather than modifying the entire layer at once. To add a layer mask, select the layer and choose Layer Mask > Reveal All from the layer menu. A mask will appear next to the layer thumbnail. Select the mask and use a black brush to paint on the mask and reveal the layer below in a selective manner. When finished, apply the mask to the layer under Layer Mask > Apply.
Dig imag unit 5 module 2 using the various painting toolskateridrex
This document discusses various painting tools in Photoshop including brushes, pencils, and gradients. It describes how gradients can be used to add color to designs and enhance images. The document then provides steps for creating a gradient layer mask, which involves applying a gradient to a layer above an image layer and painting with a clear brush to reveal the image below.
Dig imag unit 5 module 1 learning about brush types and propertieskateridrex
This document discusses various brush tools and properties in Photoshop. It describes the basic Brush tool which works like a traditional drawing tool allowing you to apply color using strokes. It also discusses blending brush modes like Normal, Dissolve and Opacity which alter how colors mix. Additionally, it provides instructions for creating custom brushes by drawing patterns on a canvas and saving as a brush preset.
Dig imag unit 4 module 3 creating path textkateridrex
This document provides instructions for creating a type portrait in Photoshop. It describes downloading an image, converting it to black and white, hiding the image layer, and adding a new type layer. It then explains how to create Photoshop brushes and patterns from the typed words to fill selection areas and recreate the image out of type. Examples of type portraits are shown at the end.
Dig imag unit 4 module 1 learning about type fonts and properties[2]kateridrex
This document discusses key terminology related to type, including readability, legibility, leading, kerning, tracking, justified text, and white space. Readability refers to how type is arranged based on factors like point size, leading, and line length, which should ensure text is easy to read. Legibility refers to typeface design elements like counters, x-height, ascenders, descenders, and strokes that help distinguish letters. Leading refers to the spacing between lines of type, while kerning is the spacing between two characters and tracking is the spacing between all characters in a line. Justified text aligns both sides of paragraphs, but too much word spacing can cause rivers. White space leaves room on the page

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

Instructor: help students define these terms
•Course presentations. Some online courses will offer textual explanations of the material organized by week or unit, with separately accessed resources. Others might furnish an integrated course presentation leading the user through the material in a series of screens, with resources such as videos or interactive exercises incorporated into the presentation. Some other courses will simply direct students to access specific information on their own. Pay special attention to material that is within a course presentation—it is usually the most important information. •Textbooks and other hard copy materials. Your textbook may be a printed document, an online version accessed through an e-reader program, or a file (such as a .pdf or Microsoft Word document) that can be downloaded and either printed or read onscreen. •Video lectures. Some online courses include video lectures by an instructor, created specifically for the course or taped from previous presentations.•Animations and interactive media. Because of the effort and cost involved in creating animations or interactive media, they are likely centered around the most important concepts in the course. •Podcasts. A method of publishing audio and video programs via the Internet that lets users subscribe to and automatically download new files, podcasting in online courses might offer full, unabridged audio recordings of the online presentation. •Web links. Your course might also provide additional Web links added by the instructor that lead to external websites, videos, and other resources.

Instructor: talk about how one bad experience may be inaccurate but can have a lasting impact if people are unaware.
Ask yourself—What can be good about this? In a bad situation. Explain how important thoughts areIn class exercise—students stand up and hold one arm out in front of them. They say out loud “I’m a bad person” while another student applies pressure to their arm, moving it down. Repeat with the phrase “I’m a good person” and see the difference. The arm almost always goes much further down in the first instance. This is how quick thoughts can impact the body and how we experience the world.
