The Cost Of Retail Growth
When people think of the word shrink they often refer to what happens when you first leave a new
shirt in the dryer and it comes out two times smaller than when you first purchased it. People in retail,
however, refer to shrink as the portion of inventory that gets lost, damaged or stolen (Kokemuller).
Now that you know the basic definition of shrink, what causes it and how significant are the losses
involved in shrink. Retail shrinkage is calculated by a percentage based on the value of lost inventory,
divided by the sales in the same period. For example, assume that the value of loss goods in a period
equals $30,000 and in that same period sales were at $600,000. To calculate the shrink you would take
the total losses (30,000), divided by the total amount of sales (600,000), the total losses for that period
would be .05 or 5 percent (Kokemuller.) The company s shrink would be five dollars per one hundred
dollars of total sales. So what exactly are the causes of shrink and what are the estimated losses
nationally? The main causes of retail shrink are employee theft and shoplifting, followed by accidental
damages. 43.7 percent of all shrinkage in 2010, was credited to employee theft, one third or 32.6
percent of shrinkage was caused by customer shoplifting (Kokemuller). Retail theft in the United
States totaled an astounding forty two billion or 1.48 percent of total sales. Mobile phones, apparel,
power tools, makeup products rank among the most stolen merchandise in

Importance Of Railway Transport
Rail This mode of transport is reliable and fast and one of the most important ways by which people
and goods are transported. (Train History , 2017) Rail transportation is referred to as movement of on
guideways and rails are the most common guideways. However technological progress made
monorails and magnetic levitation trains now available and although railways are a result of the
industrial revolution, they have been affected by continuous innovations, technical, regulatory and
commercial changes which have enhanced their capacity and efficiency. Therefore railway transport is
important now as it was in the late 19th century. One innovation pertains to the quality of the rail
infrastructure, particularly rail tracks (e.g. better steel, concrete ties), which regulates the operational
characteristics of their use such as speed, permitted weight, maintenance and immunity towards the
environment.
Increasing electrification and automation also improve the efficiency of rail transportation, passenger
and freight alike. For safety purposes commodities ought to be stowed on the trains in a certain
manner for guaranteed railway delivery. (Slack, 1998) Based on the implementation by Transport
Canada to strengthen the railway and transportation of dangerous goods safety systems. The
emergency directive requires all rail operators to;
Ensure that no locomotive attached to one or more loaded tank cars transporting dangerous goods is
left unattended on a main track;

The Legend Of King Arthur
King Arthur King Arthur was one of Britain s and Wale s most influential literary figures from the
early 800 s. Through the ages more caught on to these Arthurian Legends, and they began to embrace
them as part of their culture. Some believe that he is only a legend, yet others believe that there is even
an Arthur living among us today. While growing up, Arthur was oblivious to his heritage. From
becoming a King at the age of 16, Arthur showed courage and strength in the darkest of times. This is
why King Arthur, a mythological legend, was a brave warrior and man at heart whose betrayal and
death influenced today s society through literature, art, and even on screen productions.
There are many legends of King Arthur s life, yet there is little knowledge of his childhood. Although
Arthur was a king, he did not have the same upbringing as most noblemen and women. His father,
A warrior King named Uther Pendragon the ruler of Britain. With magical help from his advisor,
Merlin the Enchanter, King Uther tricked his rival s wife Igraine and conceived Arthur at Tintagel
Castle. As part of the bargain with Uther, Merlin then took the infant Arthur away from Tintagel, to the
house of Sir Ector, where he was brought up as a foster son, ignorant of his heritage. ( Legend of King
Arthur )
When he was about 16, a sword appeared in a stone. Hearing the news, Arthur went along with his
Foster brother, Kay, to England to see this magnificent sword and try to remove it. This

Separation of Power
It should be remembered that the notion of the doctrine is in the assumptions that the three organs of
the government and its functions should be distinguishable from one another. The idea of abandoning
the notion of the doctrine means all functions of the government can be performed by one organ for
example executive takes all government functions like enacting the law, interpreting the law, provides
people s welfare, determines the rights of the people.
In our opinion, we do not wish to abandon the doctrine of separation of power but however, this
notion shall follow the Montesquieu approach as he provides for a separation of power that aims at
having separate institutions doing separate function by separate personnel and having the ... Show

Separation of power promotes efficiency in the administration. Through separation of powers, each
power of the government has to be assigned with their own duties, judiciary, also legislature, and these

The Biography Without Bias In Let The Trumpet Sound
The Biography Without Bias Throughout history, there have been attempts to tell the stories of
important people in history. These attempts, while depicting a view of an individual, are normally
filled with extreme bias towards or against the specific person. Although some may attempt to argue
that the Stephen Oates was biased towards Martin Luther King Jr., the truth is that within the novel
Let the Trumpet Sound, Stephen B. Oates uses an explanatory tone to articulate and clarify every
detail about the life and political strategies of MLK Jr. This was done so that the people who read his
book will be educated with an unbiased view of one the of the most impactful people in American
history. Stephen Oates, through the start of the book, detailed how he was going to and had written the
book. From the very start of the novel, he know that there would be flaws and was very specific about
how he would confront the flaws that were in King s life: If I uncovered human frailties in King and
how could I not? I would try to understand them, not use them to invite the readers to an execution.
(xii). However, Oates, while not always wanting to show the pits in King s life, was honor bound to do
so. He looked back on this biography by stating I had, I think, been fair, but forthright in dealing with
King s other flaws and failings the biographer is honor bound to depict a person whole... (xx). Stephen
Oates held his work to a professional level, never letting his personal

The Chart Of The Gantt Chart
1. Introduction
Over the past decades there have been remarkably developments of techniques and methods for
managers to cope with a wide variety forms of projects. And one of those techniques is the Gantt chart
which is an exceptional tool for compiling a project schedule and visual evaluation of its performance.
Furthermore, the chart allows managers to assess the current status of projects at any moment before
proceeding to the direct management of the both single and multiple projects and their components.
Thus, an application of the Gantt chart appears to be particularly practical in managing projects
irrespective of their scope and field. By revealing the key principles of the Gantt charting, the
following paper will attempt to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Yakura (2002) and Dobson (1999) the chart was developed by Henry Gantt during the
First World War, whereas Gido and Clements (1999) suggest that the beginning of the twentieth
century was the date of creation. Since that period, although the Gantt chart, representing a timeline
table with tasks crashed over period, is credited with a relatively simplicity, it is acknowledged as an
enormously useful tool of planning projects (Dobson, 1999).
Since the Gantt chart was first created, forms and components of the graph have been altered and
interpreted in a distinctive way throughout the period. Although the incipience of computers has
brought a progressive effect, the basis of the chart remains unchanged. Badiru (2009) defines the
Gantt chart as an uncomplicated form of timeline to display amount of projected and actual work to be
done in a given framework of time. As can be seen from Figure 1, the vertical axis presents all
involved activities, while the timescale is designated along the horizontal axis over a calendar period.
A distinctive feature of the chart is that it involves altogether separate individual tasks of a project,
their duration and an arrangement of assigned activities. Moreover, as a project progresses,
accomplished tasks can be seen as a result of indicated bars on the chart (Badiru, 2009). Interpreting
the chart as a visually simple and clear project management tool Dobson (1999) points out that it
permits to determine necessary labor force

Dysphagi A Case Study

Title of Article: Parker, Claire, Power, Maxine, Hamdy, Shaheen, Bowen, Audrey, Tyrrell, Pippa,
Thompson, David G. Awareness of dysphagia by patients following stroke predicts swallowing
performance. Dyshagia, 19, 28 34.
APA format: last name, first name author (year). Title of article in lower case (if journal article). Title

The purpose of this study was to detect dysphagia awareness in 70 stroke patients, and how this
awareness or lack of awareness can predict the severity of swallowing behavior.

Based off the findings, many individuals do not know they are dysphagic, meaning they are not only
taking proper steps to ensure better and safer swallowing patterns, but the many individuals that have
worked with these patients have not discussed or made proper swallowing a strong focus. With this
idea, I think it is important to assess the types of environment these patients are living in and the type
of care they receive (medically and personally, from family and friends). It may lead to a better
understanding of why some patients are more aware than others. After my own learning about
dysphagia, proper care for dysphagia is not an independent task, but relies on a multitude of
individuals including those closest to the patient. Researching those that have a strong support system
may lead to a better outcome of those with more awareness of dysphagia, hopefully leading to
improved swallowing and a longer

Policy makers have made it clear cut that local authorities can only provide and commission an

key partners and stakeholders have been identified.

Great Expectations Manipulation
Some people spend their whole life trying to accomplish a particular something. It might be an
achievement or just simply trying to be perfect, but what actually define us as a person and the true
value of our lives? How can we possibly know if the life we are living now will be worthy in the end
and we will not regret anything when we look back onto it? In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens,
he states that life would not be as gratifying if one s life is filled with manipulation and comparison,
instead one must self seek and enhance himself/herself in every aspect throughout the course of life.
In the first part of Dickens novel, all I can deduce from Joe, Pip s brother in law, is the fact that he

Pip recognized that he does not read or write well as he never receives any schooling. He hoped to
acquire a chance to receive education, as he understands that it inspires the key to success or possibly

pointless to live, as one cannot appreciate the goodness in life. No doubt education plays a crucial role
in creating a success life, however do not let those standards conceal who you truly are or alter your
purpose in life. Joe demonstrated to Pip that life without literacy could also be worthwhile as long as
you successfully seek your own self and find your own purpose in life by improving a little bit each

On the evening of Friday, 13 November 2015, a massacre including of public mass shootings and
suicide bombings occurred in the capital of France, Paris. The attackers killed 130 people and
wounded 368 serious injuries. Just 10 months previous, on January 7, 2015 two terrorists attacked

whether or not you like someone. Of course over time people and opinions can change, but for the
most part first impressions tell you a lot about a person. My first impression of Rowdy was a tough,
mean, hopeless boy, who in his own weird way loves and cares about Junior. He may not show it
much, but Rowdy can definitely be a nice happy kid who has big dreams about playing in the NBA,
even though those dreams are buried down deep inside of him. The first time that Rowdy was

A lot of the time people waste time and energy making a super long speech about something, when it
is easier to just draw a picture and that will get the same idea across. In The Absolutely True Diary of
a Part Time Indian the pictures are a very important part of the book for many reasons including that,
the main character uses them as much as he uses words and the mean a lot to him, and that drawings
help tell the story and gives the reader a deeper understanding of what s going on. One of the pictures
that I drew was based off of a picture of Junior at the beginning of his time at Reardan, one half of the
picture was Junior as a poor Indian boy and the other half was a hopeful white boy. This drawing
especially stood out to me because other than the physical difference of clothing and accessories, the
white boy looked much happier and more hopeful. Also around the picture there were boxes with
words describing each side such as for the white boy a bright future , and hope and for the Indian boy
a vanishing past and bone crushing reality . The picture that I drew was similar to that picture, it was a
drawing of Junior before and after Reardan, but instead of being a self portrait it was drawn from
Rowdy s perspective. In my drawing I tried to express the anger that Rowdy felt at the fact that his
best friend had ditched him, but also the sadness that he was experiencing that he now had nobody to
stay with when his father beat him up. And no one to share his secrets and dreams with, Junior was the
only person who believed in Rowdy and now they both stayed away from each other. At the beginning
of the book, it was mentioned that Rowdy deals with pain by getting angry and trying to hurt people.
So in my drawing I tried to express how angry Rowdy was at Junior, and how much Rowdy hated
Junior for ditching him and thinking he was better than him, though inside rowdy knew that one day
Junior would leave and

Grades And The Esteem, By Randy Moore
Grades and Self Esteem
What is self esteem? Self esteem is confidence in one s own worth or abilities. In Grades Self Esteem ,
author Randy Moore (2007) stated that the level of performance of the students decreased while
schools are building the self esteem in the students. Author Alfie Kohn (1994) stated in his article The
Truth about Self Esteem to contradict Moore s opinion that academics and self esteem are not related.
Moore discussed some beneficial points which are useful for the students, but in some cases his
argument was not giving better meaning. I agree from Moore s article that the American students do
not perform as well academically as students from other countries. I do not agree from Moore s
opinion that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Giving tough exams and more reading, and setting high standards to award grades will not allow the
teachers to understand the intellectual depth of the students and increase the value of the classes. Some
people argue that students will perform better if it is difficult to get grades. There were evidence that
harder multiple choice exams will not allow the students to improve understanding and thinking
ability. The harder exams will yield only short term benefit to the student, but in the long run, tougher
grades won t benefit the students. Teachers who are giving easy grades to the students are worried
about the students self esteem and the elevation. Kohn (2002) stated that many higher education
teachers are basically researchers, they are not trained enough to teach, it is better to analyze the
teachers skill and examine their view of teaching in order to get better performance of the students.
This will allow the students to get benefit without facing a hard grading system.
Moore (2007) stated that nowadays teachers are offering only A or B grades to the students. According
to Moore (2007) in 1966, teachers gave C s as A s and by 1978, compared to C s, A s were increased.
In the 1980 s, most of the schools were giving A grades to the students. Many researchers stated that
there is no proper evidence for grade inflation. For example Kohn (2002)

The Argument Of Capital Punishment
The Argument of Capital Punishment
There not many issues in the criminal justice system that have caused more heated discussions and
arguments as consistent and strong as that of the argument of capital punishment. Capital punishment
(death penalty) is one of the most critical issue that has strong defenders and opponents. This kind of
punishment is the most severe form in the U.S. todays and it has different type which lethal injection

sides of the argument, citing both the need for justice and the sanctity of human life. This debate
regarding the death penalty has become a complex issue in recent years with concerns as to the
equality of the criminal justice system, the position of physicians in assisting in executions, and the
likelihood of reform, improvement and rehabilitation amid individuals currently serving on death row.
Also, Make a decision on capital punishment is so complex and difficult for the federal government.

Moral Responsibility In King Henry s War
Morally Responsible Character Development Responsibility in war isn t always abundantly clear and
Shakespeare uses King Henry s dynamic character to highlight that issue. Shakespeare uses this
heavily metaphysical discussion of moral responsibility in war to symbolize a permanence in Henry s
maturity by critically analyzing the position as seen by the king himself and his soldiers. The
discussion between King Henry and his soldiers ultimately discusses one deep question: who is
responsible for who in war? The soldiers themselves, especially Captain Bates, deem themselves
responsible for their physical allegiance to the king and if his cause be wrong, [their] obedience to the
King wipes the crime of it out of them (145). According to the Captain, if Henry s cause for war is an

Now, if these men have defeated the law and outrun native punishment, they have no wings to fly
from God . . . Then, if they die unprovided, no more is the King guilty of their damnation than he was
guilty of those impieties for the which they are now visited. Every subject s duty is the King s, but
every subject s soul is his own (147). Henry knows that every soldier in his army is guilty to some
degree of some transgression, however minor; proof of this lies in his soldiers Scroop, Grey and
Cambridge who were guilty of treason against the king. But to claim that Henry himself is responsible
for their judgement in death is a ludicrous proposition: his only responsibility is to ensure that his
soldiers fight like soldiers. Any end that befalls them is through only their own

Family Origin Theory In Anne Of Green Gables
Within the movie Anne of Green Gables there is a compelling demonstration of the Family Origin
theory. As Anne Shirley grows up and becomes married she is influenced by the parents who adopted
her. As she is adopted by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert (who are siblings) when she is eleven years
old, she acquires attributes from each of them that are carried on throughout her life. Although she was
adopted as a young teenager she never truly had a family to begin with so her adoption into this family
became her Family of Origin. The boldness and directness Anne developed came from her mother
Marilla whereas her kind, giving, and hardworking attributes came from her father Matthew. Her
father Matthew created a memory in her life as he died when she was only sixteen. This event
impacted her life immensely as she tried to live like he would. These qualities and memories carried
over into her career as a teacher as well as into her marriage with Gilbert Blythe.
The Family of Origin Theory impacts many individuals as they carry on the attributes found in the
family they originated from. According to the Figure 11.1 in the Marriages and Families textbook,
Anne s family would most likely be classified as a structurally connected family. This theory
encompasses everything from talents, attitudes, values, and their future relationships. Anne Shirley is a
good example of how her family influenced her behavior and choices as she grew older.
As a teacher Anne Shirley encountered many events where she exhibited kindness and courtesy just as
her father did. She gave respect even to the youngest of the students when they were bullied and
picked on during school as well as showing respect in disciplining the bully. She found value in each
of them just as Matthew Cuthbert had in those around him. Anne was also a bold and direct teacher
because of the discipline that came from her mother Marilla. She often stood up for her students when
they felt misunderstood or unwanted. Anne s Family of Origin allowed her to become a better teacher
because of her experiences in her family growing up.
As a young child growing up with Matthew and Marilla, Anne began life with a temper and couldn t
stop accusing others of hurting her and making

Good Night And Good Luck Movie Analysis
Good Night and Good Luck was written and Directed by George Clooney. George took time and effort
into making this film close enough to the historical information that we have today about McCarthy.

over the permanent subcommittee on the investigations. That hosted public hearings that McCarthy
accused many army officials, media members, and other public figures for being Communists. In the
film, Good Night and Good Luck, director George Clooney played out each event through this movie.
However, the film includes differences in point of view in order to into the excitement of the film.
There are two similarities between the movie Goodnight and Good Luck, and the history that it is
based on. One similar part in the movie and in history is that they both give us a better way of
understanding how McCarthy took control. Tobias Hochscherf and Christoph Laucht said, McCarthy
era and its subliminal resonances to the ongoing War on Terror, (Time Out, London Issue, 15 22
February 2006). Tobias Hochscherf and Christoph Laucht said, While the film was celebrated mostly
by representatives of the liberal camp in the United States and especially in Europe, it was also subject
to severe criticism for its allegedly narrow view, historical inaccuracies, and suggestiveness by others,
(See, for instance, Time Out, London Issue, 15 22 February 2006). [ Film and History is a website

Roles Of Women In The 1920s Essay
After World War I ended in 1918, the United States became a world superpower with a thriving
economy. The 1920s was a time of prosperity, symbolized by technological advances, consumerism,
and leisure. Along with this affluence, came a movement towards modern values, and as people
migrated to large northern cities, these modern values became concentrated in urban areas. As a result,
an enormous cultural shift took place that greatly altered the lives of Americans, including women.
Women experienced significant political, social, and cultural change beginning in the 1920s, a decade
which came to be known as the Roaring Twenties. The rise of the feminist movement spawned a new
way of thinking for women in what it meant to be a citizen. Previously, women were deprived of
essential rights available to men, like the right to own property, claim a legal identity, or vote.
Generally, women were dependent on their marital status, and expected to ... Show more content on

Many women worked in domestic and clerical service as secretaries, telephone operators, and other
gender appropriate jobs. Women even entered the workforce at a faster rate than men, due to
employers willing to hire them at lower wages than most men would accept. Consequently, working
women were criticized because they were said to be taking away jobs meant for men. Once the United
States entered World War II, most men enlisted as soldiers, creating labor shortages. This increased
demand for employees, caused women to replace men in the workforce. The persona of Rosie the
Riveter inspired millions of females to work in defense industries and support services. Despite this
surge in working women, many employers still would not hire African Americans, leading to a push
for equal opportunity among union organizers. In 1941, Roosevelt made a step towards equality by
issuing Executive Order 8802 which banned racial discrimination in

Cause And Effect Of Hearing Loss
The biggest handicap in the world is negative thinking and that people handicap themselves by
concentrating only on the negative instead of the positive, said Heather Whitestone (Premiere
SPeakers Bureau). Even though Heather Whitestone was deaf, she showed the world that she was
going to have to work hard to achieve success. Many people in the world are affected by hearing loss.
About two million people in the United States are completely deaf, while eighteen to twenty one
people need hearing impairments (Mango 21). Symptoms of hearing loss may include difficulty
understanding words or phrases. Needing to turn the volume up, avoiding social situations, and trouble
hearing consonants are also signs of hearing loss (Mayo Clinic Staff). There are many types of hearing
loss that can be gained. Congenital deafness is when someone is born being deaf. Three out of every
one thousand infants in the United States are born with congenital deafness (Sheen 16). Another type
of hearing loss is the conductive deafness. In this case, the outer and middle ears, which send sound
waves to the inner ear, are having the hearing problems (11). Lastly, sensorineural hearing loss is
when there is damage in the inner ear. The inner ear s job is to convert sound waves to electrical or
neutral impulses, so then it can be carried to the brain and be translated (15). Causes of hearing loss
include environmental and natural causes. A premature baby is at a higher risk of being deaf (18). Ear

Multicultural Education in the Classroom
The Benefits of Multicultural Education in the Classroom I have grown up with Education being my
catapult through life; I love it. I love to study children and figure out how they learn and how our
educational experiences shape us as adults. Five years ago, I found myself accepting a position as a
Toddler teacher in a government facility. To describe it simply, I was a fish out of water. I had
experience with children, but not with children so small. This experience taught me a great deal about
learning in our great world. I was amazed to witness the pure relationships between children of all
races in that little toddler room. All color aside, the children seemed to embrace each other s
differences and celebrate in their dedicated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The substantial task of desegregation did not come without its struggles. Parents were faced with
issues of involvement in their child s education due to distance between their child s school and home.
Some schools reported vandalism and student frustration in regards to the change of scenery. In 2001,
busing for Charlotte students ended, but not without leaving a legacy. Since the termination of busing,
student test scores continue to rise, even surpassing those of other urban school districts such as Los
Angeles, Chicago, and Houston (NPR, 2004).
Though mandatory busing ended, school districts continue to encourage the multicultural movement
by providing magnet programs for families who would like their child to attend another school. The
concept is the same as busing; however, participation is voluntary. Economically, the gap is
narrowing, balancing our communities. Forty percent of African Americans consider themselves to be
middle class, seventy five percent own their own homes, and two parent households earn just thirteen
percent less than Caucasian parents (Thernstrom, 1998). There are improvements to be made as the
economy continues to control and group together families within the same income bracket. Many
times, this binds families to certain schools with no other options available. Statistics show that from
1993 to 2003, there was a similar outcome regarding the schools middle class families attended. Out

The Process of Selecting the Arbitrator
The Process of Selecting the Arbitrator The Labor and management have an influence in the selection
and the compensation of the arbitrator. The steps in selecting an Arbitrator are as follows; * Step 1: At
request of parties, tribunal sends a list of proposed arbitrators * Step 2: Parties are given seven days to
study the list, cross off unacceptable names, and rank remaining names * Step 3: Additional names
submitted to parties if no mutually acceptable names identified * Step 4: If parties cannot agree on a

Here, the labor and management members are the partisans or advocates for their respective sides, and
the neutral chairperson then becomes a single arbitrator. The unique role that the panel chair plays in
the arbitration process is that it s the chairs duty to keep other arbitrators well informed of the aspects
involved within the case in order to make sound decisions. When the tripartite board doesn t decide
unanimously, they turn to the collective bargaining agreement, which often stipulate that a majority
award of the board is final and binding. The advantages of this board are that it provides the neutral
member with valuable advice and assistance from the partisan members, which allows the parties to
give a more realistic and informed picture of the issues at hand. However, the disadvantage is that it
takes additional time and more expenses are incurred with a board.
Arbitration services:
The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services Office of Arbitration Services (OAS) is one source
of the arbitration panels, and their services are as follows:
Maintains a roster of qualified arbitrators to hear and to decide the labor questions that are in labor
management disputes
Provides the parties that are involved within the collective bargaining agreements with a list of
experienced panels of arbitrators
Appoints arbitrators following their selection by the parties involved

  • 2. The Cost Of Retail Growth When people think of the word shrink they often refer to what happens when you first leave a new shirt in the dryer and it comes out two times smaller than when you first purchased it. People in retail, however, refer to shrink as the portion of inventory that gets lost, damaged or stolen (Kokemuller). Now that you know the basic definition of shrink, what causes it and how significant are the losses involved in shrink. Retail shrinkage is calculated by a percentage based on the value of lost inventory, divided by the sales in the same period. For example, assume that the value of loss goods in a period equals $30,000 and in that same period sales were at $600,000. To calculate the shrink you would take the total losses (30,000), divided by the total amount of sales (600,000), the total losses for that period would be .05 or 5 percent (Kokemuller.) The company s shrink would be five dollars per one hundred dollars of total sales. So what exactly are the causes of shrink and what are the estimated losses nationally? The main causes of retail shrink are employee theft and shoplifting, followed by accidental damages. 43.7 percent of all shrinkage in 2010, was credited to employee theft, one third or 32.6 percent of shrinkage was caused by customer shoplifting (Kokemuller). Retail theft in the United States totaled an astounding forty two billion or 1.48 percent of total sales. • 3. Importance Of Railway Transport Rail This mode of transport is reliable and fast and one of the most important ways by which people and goods are transported. (Train History , 2017) Rail transportation is referred to as movement of on guideways and rails are the most common guideways. However technological progress made monorails and magnetic levitation trains now available and although railways are a result of the industrial revolution, they have been affected by continuous innovations, technical, regulatory and commercial changes which have enhanced their capacity and efficiency. Therefore railway transport is important now as it was in the late 19th century. One innovation pertains to the quality of the rail infrastructure, particularly rail tracks (e.g. better steel, concrete ties), which regulates the operational characteristics of their use such as speed, permitted weight, maintenance and immunity towards the environment. Increasing electrification and automation also improve the efficiency of rail transportation, passenger and freight alike. For safety purposes commodities ought to be stowed on the trains in a certain manner for guaranteed railway delivery. (Slack, 1998) Based on the implementation by Transport Canada to strengthen the railway and transportation of dangerous goods safety systems. The emergency directive requires all rail operators to; Ensure that no locomotive attached to one or more loaded tank cars transporting dangerous goods is left unattended on a main track; ... • 4. The Legend Of King Arthur King Arthur King Arthur was one of Britain s and Wale s most influential literary figures from the early 800 s. Through the ages more caught on to these Arthurian Legends, and they began to embrace them as part of their culture. Some believe that he is only a legend, yet others believe that there is even an Arthur living among us today. While growing up, Arthur was oblivious to his heritage. From becoming a King at the age of 16, Arthur showed courage and strength in the darkest of times. This is why King Arthur, a mythological legend, was a brave warrior and man at heart whose betrayal and death influenced today s society through literature, art, and even on screen productions. There are many legends of King Arthur s life, yet there is little knowledge of his childhood. Although Arthur was a king, he did not have the same upbringing as most noblemen and women. His father, A warrior King named Uther Pendragon the ruler of Britain. With magical help from his advisor, Merlin the Enchanter, King Uther tricked his rival s wife Igraine and conceived Arthur at Tintagel Castle. As part of the bargain with Uther, Merlin then took the infant Arthur away from Tintagel, to the house of Sir Ector, where he was brought up as a foster son, ignorant of his heritage. ( Legend of King Arthur ) When he was about 16, a sword appeared in a stone. Separation of Power It should be remembered that the notion of the doctrine is in the assumptions that the three organs of the government and its functions should be distinguishable from one another. The idea of abandoning the notion of the doctrine means all functions of the government can be performed by one organ for example executive takes all government functions like enacting the law, interpreting the law, provides people s welfare, determines the rights of the people. These attempts, while depicting a view of an individual, are normally filled with extreme bias towards or against the specific person. Although some may attempt to argue that the Stephen Oates was biased towards Martin Luther King Jr., the truth is that within the novel Let the Trumpet Sound, Stephen B. Oates uses an explanatory tone to articulate and clarify every detail about the life and political strategies of MLK Jr. This was done so that the people who read his book will be educated with an unbiased view of one the of the most impactful people in American history. Stephen Oates, through the start of the book, detailed how he was going to and had written the book. From the very start of the novel, he know that there would be flaws and was very specific about how he would confront the flaws that were in King s life: If I uncovered human frailties in King and how could I not? I would try to understand them, not use them to invite the readers to an execution. (xii). However, Oates, while not always wanting to show the pits in King s life, was honor bound to do so. He looked back on this biography by stating I had, I think, been fair, but forthright in dealing with King s other flaws and failings the biographer is honor bound to depict a person whole... (xx). • 7. The Chart Of The Gantt Chart 1. Introduction Over the past decades there have been remarkably developments of techniques and methods for managers to cope with a wide variety forms of projects. And one of those techniques is the Gantt chart which is an exceptional tool for compiling a project schedule and visual evaluation of its performance. Furthermore, the chart allows managers to assess the current status of projects at any moment before proceeding to the direct management of the both single and multiple projects and their components. Thus, an application of the Gantt chart appears to be particularly practical in managing projects irrespective of their scope and field. By revealing the key principles of the Gantt charting, the following paper will attempt to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Yakura (2002) and Dobson (1999) the chart was developed by Henry Gantt during the First World War, whereas Gido and Clements (1999) suggest that the beginning of the twentieth century was the date of creation. Since that period, although the Gantt chart, representing a timeline table with tasks crashed over period, is credited with a relatively simplicity, it is acknowledged as an enormously useful tool of planning projects (Dobson, 1999). Since the Gantt chart was first created, forms and components of the graph have been altered and interpreted in a distinctive way throughout the period. Although the incipience of computers has brought a progressive effect, the basis of the chart remains unchanged. Badiru (2009) defines the Gantt chart as an uncomplicated form of timeline to display amount of projected and actual work to be done in a given framework of time. As can be seen from Figure 1, the vertical axis presents all involved activities, while the timescale is designated along the horizontal axis over a calendar period. A distinctive feature of the chart is that it involves altogether separate individual tasks of a project, their duration and an arrangement of assigned activities. Moreover, as a project progresses, accomplished tasks can be seen as a result of indicated bars on the chart (Badiru, 2009). Interpreting the chart as a visually simple and clear project management tool Dobson (1999) points out that it permits to determine necessary labor force ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A lot of the time people waste time and energy making a super long speech about something, when it is easier to just draw a picture and that will get the same idea across. In The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian the pictures are a very important part of the book for many reasons including that, the main character uses them as much as he uses words and the mean a lot to him, and that drawings help tell the story and gives the reader a deeper understanding of what s going on. One of the pictures that I drew was based off of a picture of Junior at the beginning of his time at Reardan, one half of the picture was Junior as a poor Indian boy and the other half was a hopeful white boy. This drawing especially stood out to me because other than the physical difference of clothing and accessories, the white boy looked much happier and more hopeful. Also around the picture there were boxes with words describing each side such as for the white boy a bright future , and hope and for the Indian boy a vanishing past and bone crushing reality . The picture that I drew was similar to that picture, it was a drawing of Junior before and after Reardan, but instead of being a self portrait it was drawn from Rowdy s perspective. In my drawing I tried to express the anger that Rowdy felt at the fact that his best friend had ditched him, but also the sadness that he was experiencing that he now had nobody to stay with when his father beat him up. And no one to share his secrets and dreams with, Junior was the only person who believed in Rowdy and now they both stayed away from each other. At the beginning of the book, it was mentioned that Rowdy deals with pain by getting angry and trying to hurt people. So in my drawing I tried to express how angry Rowdy was at Junior, and how much Rowdy hated Junior for ditching him and thinking he was better than him, though inside rowdy knew that one day Junior would leave and ... The harder exams will yield only short term benefit to the student, but in the long run, tougher grades won t benefit the students. Teachers who are giving easy grades to the students are worried about the students self esteem and the elevation. The discussion between King Henry and his soldiers ultimately discusses one deep question: who is responsible for who in war? The soldiers themselves, especially Captain Bates, deem themselves responsible for their physical allegiance to the king and if his cause be wrong, [their] obedience to the King wipes the crime of it out of them (145). Every subject s duty is the King s, but every subject s soul is his own (147). Henry knows that every soldier in his army is guilty to some degree of some transgression, however minor; proof of this lies in his soldiers Scroop, Grey and Cambridge who were guilty of treason against the king. But to claim that Henry himself is responsible for their judgement in death is a ludicrous proposition: his only responsibility is to ensure that his soldiers fight like soldiers. • 21. Family Origin Theory In Anne Of Green Gables Within the movie Anne of Green Gables there is a compelling demonstration of the Family Origin theory. As Anne Shirley grows up and becomes married she is influenced by the parents who adopted her. As she is adopted by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert (who are siblings) when she is eleven years old, she acquires attributes from each of them that are carried on throughout her life. Although she was adopted as a young teenager she never truly had a family to begin with so her adoption into this family became her Family of Origin. The boldness and directness Anne developed came from her mother Marilla whereas her kind, giving, and hardworking attributes came from her father Matthew. Her father Matthew created a memory in her life as he died when she was only sixteen. This event impacted her life immensely as she tried to live like he would. These qualities and memories carried over into her career as a teacher as well as into her marriage with Gilbert Blythe. The Family of Origin Theory impacts many individuals as they carry on the attributes found in the family they originated from. According to the Figure 11.1 in the Marriages and Families textbook, Anne s family would most likely be classified as a structurally connected family. This theory encompasses everything from talents, attitudes, values, and their future relationships. Anne Shirley is a good example of how her family influenced her behavior and choices as she grew older. As a teacher Anne Shirley encountered many events where she exhibited kindness and courtesy just as her father did. She gave respect even to the youngest of the students when they were bullied and picked on during school as well as showing respect in disciplining the bully. She found value in each of them just as Matthew Cuthbert had in those around him. Anne was also a bold and direct teacher because of the discipline that came from her mother Marilla. She often stood up for her students when they felt misunderstood or unwanted. Anne s Family of Origin allowed her to become a better teacher because of her experiences in her family growing up. As a young child growing up with Matthew and Marilla, Anne began life with a temper and couldn t stop accusing others of hurting her and making ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The substantial task of desegregation did not come without its struggles. Parents were faced with issues of involvement in their child s education due to distance between their child s school and home. Since the termination of busing, student test scores continue to rise, even surpassing those of other urban school districts such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston (NPR, 2004). Though mandatory busing ended, school districts continue to encourage the multicultural movement by providing magnet programs for families who would like their child to attend another school. The concept is the same as busing; however, participation is voluntary. Economically, the gap is narrowing, balancing our communities. Forty percent of African Americans consider themselves to be middle class, seventy five percent own their own homes, and two parent households earn just thirteen percent less than Caucasian parents (Thernstrom, 1998). There are improvements to be made as the economy continues to control and group together families within the same income bracket.
