In essence, we learned many important lessons. First, when the business is new and its future is
uncertain it should not invest in large capital. Next, the business should outsource only when it is
appropriate considering the risks and benefits. And most importantly, we learned that in a small
business situation, the company should focus on its core competency in bringing value to the business
and the customers. II. Strategy Identification The challenges faced by Nucleon, Inc. present more of
an issue with how to take full advantage of an opportunity in front of them, rather than a problem that
poses a threat to the company. As a company in its early stages, only putting out its first product, it is
critical that it is done in a manner that allows the budding firm to grow. The main issue here is
determining the most effective means by which they are to manufacture and market their first product,
CRP 1. Doing so requires in depth evaluation of three strategic options, all with their own benefits and
potential risks. The problem statement, therefore, is as follows: Problem Statement: Nucleon, Inc.
needs to determine the best course of action for the manufacturing and sale of its first product, CRP 1,
in order to grow the budding company and gain sustained competitive advantage against large rivals.

Occupational Therapy and Clinical Reasoning
Clinical Reasoning Clinical Reasoning is an essential part of the assessment, treatment and evaluation
process in occupational therapy (Neistadt, 1996). This reasoning is the skill set that the occupational
therapist draws from when working with clients in related to function and performance. Neistadt
(1996) suggested that clinical reasoning is the combination of five interacting components (Ward,
2003). This will be explained in the following essay and applied to a case study about a girl named
Maria. Narrative Reasoning The first form of reasoning to be used will be the narrative reasoning.
This will address Maria s occupational story. It considers temporal aspects such as the client s history
and identifies what needs to change to accommodate occupational engagement in the future (Neistadt,
1996). Maria is fifteen years old. Her mother reports that Maria has been performing poorly in school
and has withdrawn from her family. This began after her transition to secondary school. Her
performance further deteriorated when she began second year. Maria stopped participating in a
number of her occupations including hockey, playing the piano, the girl guides, shopping with friends
and going to the cinema. She now prefers to stay on the computer of listening to music. Maria
previously had a good relationship with her younger siblings. However, she has disengaged from these
relationships. She has also been distant from her friends Caoimhe and Meabh, preferring to spend time

Living On This Planet Has Its Ups And Down
Living on this planet has its ups and down. When I noticed the #ReasonsToLeaveEarth trending on
twitter today, I thought to myself I have to write about that .
So, here you go.
My Top 6 Reasons to Leave Earth:
#6 BILLS
I mean, really, I hate to spend money.
My dad taught me a lot of thing about money: here are the top two.
Number one is to hold on to as much of it as you can, especially when you are young, because life isn
t just about today. You need to have some wiggle room when life throws you a curve ball and you
need to have a way to take care of yourself when you are old.
Number two is that even though you should save, you have to spend money to make money (I hate
dislike this very much). If you want to start a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Think of how much more productive we could be. Think of how much we miss while we are asleep
for eight hours of our day (if we are lucky, that is).
To be able to call somewhere home where I didn t need to sleep in order to survive and function?
Now, that would be a dream (pun intended  ).
#3 FOOD
I enjoy cooking, especially when I get to make something really delicious. But the need to have a
balance sometimes gets in the way of my fun in the kitchen.
I would be very much ok with leaving for a place where calories didn t count and everything tasted
amazing!
#2 PAIN AND SUFFERING
No one likes to be sick or suffer.
It breaks my heart to see my daughter fall and hurt herself or spend the night throwing up (and even
worse if my hubby and I are throwing up too).
And of course on this planet there is emotional suffering too. People are constantly fighting. No one
seems to be able to get along for more than ten seconds. It doesn t matter if you are leaders of
countries with opposing values or a husband and wife who can t decide on the color to pain the
shutters tension is everywhere.
I want to leave earth for a place where my family and I wouldn t have to deal with all the pain and
suffering that life on this planet has been dealing us all these years.
AND
#1 INCOMPLETE
I am incomplete here. Jesus Christ started a work in me when I chose to follow Him and make Him
LORD of my life. That work won t be finished until I am face to face with Him in

The Current Procurement Situation Within Ucla Housing And...
The first few weeks of our project were spent assessing the current procurement situation within
UCLA Housing Hospitality Services. We worked very closely with our stakeholder to gain an
understanding of how products are purchased, and quickly decided that our project would focus on
office supplies because they are frequently purchased and widely used, and because there are not strict
regulations regarding what kinds of products can be purchased/used (as there are for chemical
cleaning supplies, for example).
Additionally, we performed background research and analyzed the current University of California
Sustainability Practices Policy as well as past UCLA Housing purchasing data. Our findings were
surprising. We found that the current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking all of this into consideration, we came up with the initial project idea of creating our own set of
comprehensive procurement guidelines. These would be quantified, clear, and concise. However, we
soon found that this project would be logistically difficult to complete and implement, given our
resources and timeline. We also realized that the current guidelines are already available to UCLA
staff, who, as the survey data indicated, are largely unaware of them. For this reason, simply updating
the existing guidelines would have likely had little effect in changing purchasing behavior. The need
for an educational component quickly became apparent indeed, nearly 50% of survey participants
identified a lack of awareness/knowledge of sustainable products as the biggest obstacle to the
sustainable procurement of office supplies at UCLA.
We delved deeper into the current procurement system, learning that the UC System is contracted with
OfficeMax and that it uses an interface known as BruinBuy to make purchases. We thus decided to use
the OfficeMax Green Office catalog (available to the public online) to compile a product
recommendation list. We also made general plans to incorporate this list into an education program set
to take place during Spring

Compare And Contrast Marketing Strategy
2.2. Marketing strategy Nowadays, the concept of strategy in general and marketing strategy in
particular appears very popularly in modern market. Oxford Advanced Learner s Dictionary (2005,
p.1516) defines strategy as a plan that is intended to achieve a particular purpose or the process of
planning something or putting a plan into operation in a skilful way . Chandler, A. D. Jr (1962, p.7)
views strategy as the determination of the basic long term goals and objectives of an enterprise and the
adoption of courses of action and the allocation of resources necessary to carry out these goals . In
another work, according to Anthony, R. N. (1965, p.15), strategy is the process of deciding on

Amstrong, G, 2012). The most important point of this strategy is difference . Moreover, that difference
has to be valuable, unique and hard to copy. Differentiation advantage can only be achieved when a
firm is able to obtain from its differentiation a price premium in the market which exceeds the cost of
providing differentiation (Robinson J., 1933). To gain differentiation competitive advantage, the
company will have to invest a big budget to its product research and development. However, to remain
it is another story. Apple is one of the pioneers in implementing this strategy. Focus: If the company
cannot compete with both of the two above strategies, then it should think about focusing on
occupying only one or a few market segments (niche market), with typical groups of customer. The
customers of niche market are usually interested in either low price or differentiation, but other typical
features instead. As these features are not popular, the product range of the companies following cost
and differentiation cannot reach, and the company following focus strategy can avoid the fierce
competition with the other two groups. Roll Royce is a typical example for this

Hamadryas Baboons Essay
The complex world of primates revolves around a spectrum of different behaviors and physical
features that can be intertwined with their evolutionary history and current ecosystem. Two species of
baboons that share a common ancestor dating back twenty million years ago are Papio hamadryas and
Theropithecus gelada (Falk, 173). More commonly called as hamadryas baboons and geladas, they are
known to share many characteristics because of this common lineage. In fact, they are categorized
under the same order of classification, down to the same subfamily of primates, known as
cercopithecidae. Despite sharing a common subfamily, these two species of baboons manage to
encompass divergent qualities in response to their environment.
Evolution has played a monumental role in regards to the similarities and differences between geladas
and hamadryas baboons. Moreover, many traits have been retained within the same subfamily.
However, it can also be said that certain behaviors and features diverged from the family tree. These ...

For instance, the reason for the aggressive behavior of male leaders in hamadryas is mainly due to
reproductive fitness, however predation risk can also play a part. OMU male leaders condition the
females through force to stay in close proximity to prevent other males from mating with her.
However, since their habitat lacks in track coverage, it places them in a vulnerable state from
predators. Females in closer proximity to the male leader have a higher chance of being protected in
the event a predator attacks. Therefore, this increases her survival rate because male leaders are the
only members to engage in combat. As for geladas, they follow the cercopithicine model of
dominance. Males do not exhibit aggressive behavior because high grasslands have sufficient
coverage from predators, especially from birds of

The Multi Unit Restaurant Business
In 2010, the U.S. restaurant and contract foodservice industry was a $600 billion industry with
960,000 locations.1 Multi unit restaurant concepts represented approximately 30% of the industry by
units, with independent operators as the balance. The restaurant and foodservice industry was highly
fragmented, and even industry giant McDonald s generated just 2% of total revenues.
Multi unit concepts were generally categorized into three industry segments:
Specialty Establishments like Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and Baskin Robbins primarily served snacks
and beverages under $5.
Quick Service Restaurants, or so called fast food concepts like McDonald s, Taco Bell, and
Wendy s, provided counter or drive through service with average tickets between $4 and $10.
Casual Dining included brands like Olive Garden, Applebee s, and Outback, and offered table service
for dinner entrees priced between $8 and $20. Within this group, fine dining concepts like Ruth s
Chris and Capital Grille featured entrées into the $40 range.
While some concepts had bridged these categories for years (e.g., Friendly s offered casual dining
coupled with a strong takeaway ice cream business), more recently several concepts had clustered
around an emerging category often called Quick Casual. For example, Panda Express

happened at large throughout the United States. It was not a sectional crime or a Southern

The Controversy Of Appeasement In The 20th Century
Appeasement can be sighted to the 20th Century as a controversial foreign policy. Appeasement
literally means to pacify or conciliate (Hallock, Stephanie, The World in the 20th Century, 06 05 2016,
p 82). It is also defined by the words of Chamberlain in September 1938, As long as a war has not
begun there is always hope that it may be prevented and you know that I am going to work for peace
to the last moment (Hallock, Stephanie, The World in the 20th Century, 06 05 2016, p 82). The words
summarize the core of the ideas and thoughts behind appeasement. Although rooted in good
intentions, appeasement sparked controversy in the 20th Century due to its effects on the Treaty of
Versailles and political stance. The most significant moment of history which led to ... Show more

After the Great War, the Treaty of Versailles was signed. There were many rules imposed on Germany
in this treaty. Once Germany began to break the Treaty of Versailles, this gave rise to appeasement.
Germany started rebuilding its military. The Treaty of Versailles was disregarded by Germany based
on those actions. Moreover, Germany took control of Rhineland. This was yet another event that broke
the treaty. Also, Germany took over Austria and parts of Czechoslovakia. As Germany continued to
break the treaty, the other nations decide to appease Germany. The Great War was devastating and the
other countries were committed to seeking peaceful resolutions at the time (CITE). The policy of
appeasement was used as a chance to preserve peace. It was highly controversial, as it allowed
Germany to break the Treaty of Versailles without repercussion. Germany was making further and
further advancements in its own personal motive. Appeasement was sighted to be controversial
because, in retrospection, Germany was allowed to get out of control. Many of Germany s surround

The Crusades and Their Failure to Spread the Message of...
The Crusades, starting in the eleventh century, were attempts by the Western Church to rid Europe of
the new formulated and invading Muslims. Many Crusades had transpired over the centuries,
including both a children s and peasant s crusade, in attempt to keep the new religious threat at bay.
Many popes, kings, and rulers spent a great deal of money, time, and effort into these wars, but many
ended up failing in their original purposes. However, much can be said about the success of these
crusades in light of these failures. With these successes that took place, is the spread of Christianity

In fact, it could be noted that Christians even feared that the Muslims would soon conquer all of
Europe unless they were stopped. Pope Urban s speech has been lost to history, but apparently, he told
his followers that the Eastern Church was falling, pilgrimages were being stopped, and churches were
being desecrated. As previously mentioned, the Eastern Church was falling to the Muslims. In fact,
many of the major eastern cities fell, including Antioch. The East and the West were still considered
one church at the time so the church believed that it should aid in the recapture of the cities.
During this time in church history, part of the religious actions of church goers was to partake in
visiting shrines and viewing relics. Some of the shrines included houses of certain saints, artifacts
from the apostles, but most importantly, the city of Jerusalem. Since Jerusalem was the place of Christ
s death and resurrection, many people would take pilgrimages to the city. In fact, soon, pilgrimages to
Jerusalem became a form of penance. However, Muslims eventually took control of the city, but they
still allowed the pilgrimages to continue. However, in the eleventh century, this reality soon stopped
which cause Christians to not have the ability to travel to the city. In order to have one of the most
important shrines of the faith restored, it would have to be taken by force.
In order for the pope to gain more people to rescue Jerusalem, he

The Effects Of History And Social Structures On Our Lives...
Experiences play a vital role on who we are as a person, more importantly the memories that we ve
had as children stick with us for the rest of our lives. They help structure and model us into a person
that will eventually do extraordinary things that will affect others around us. In first world countries
most experiences as a child are generally the same for everyone because they live in a safe shielded
environment that protects them anything bad that could happen but, children growing up in third
world countries face horrible experiences that can cost them their lives but they believe is the norm.
Through my primary research I have discovered that history and social structures have had a great
impact on my personal life than ever imagined having to growing up in a third world country. After
developing my secondary research, the information I collected is proof of events that have ultimately
lead to factors of my development from an infant to who I am as a person today. Throughout my life
there were different historical events occurring at the time in my home country and my future country
that unfolded to shape and model my life to make me the person that I am today. I am able to identify
specific events that separately correspond to the process of coming to Canada before while residing in
my home country, during the immigration process to come here, and after arriving in Canada. In this

Information Processing Models Essay
One of the AASL s standards for 21st century learners is [they will] inquire, think critically, and gain
knowledge and follow an inquiry based process in seeking knowledge in curricular subjects, and make
the real world connection for using this process in [his/her] own life. (ALA, 2007, p. 4)
Three research process models that help students make independent choices, ask questions, find
resources, and discover information are the Big6™, Kuhlthau s Information Search Process, and I
Search. This paper will compare and contrast these models and discuss their use in teaching students
to research on their own.

and extracting relevant information. Synthesis takes into account organizing from multiple sources
and presenting the information. Finally, Evaluation entails judging the product for effectiveness and
judging the process for efficiency. (Wurster, 2011)
Librarians, teachers, and students can all benefit from the Big6™ process as it helps to identify goals,
hunt for, use and collect information and then reflect on that information with the presentation of the
information. Teachers and librarians benefit because they can use it at any grade level, with any
subject, with any state or national standards, and it complements any curriculum. Students benefit
because the Big6™ assures they understand the assignment, complete the project, assignment, or
activity, and discuss the process. In addition, students can know if they missed a step of the process,
self asses their work, recognize reliable information, cite sources, divide an assignment into easily
managed parts, and feel confident in their work. (Wurster, 2011)

Daytona Beach On the morning of June 17, 2016, I woke up with a smile on my face like it was

Influence On Western Civilization
Influence of Greece on western civilization
Throughout history, there has been many to hold the title of the greatest and most influential western
civilization. It is believed that Greece more specifically Ancient Greece is the first truly western
civilization and has had a part in the following fields of education. Philosophy being what many
would argue to be the second biggest contribution of Greece. With the first thought coming to my
mind being Aristotle, Socrates, and Archimedes. These philosophers not only contributed to the field
of philosophy; but to science, mathematics, literature, and poetry.
Democracy being possibly the most important influence on all societies. The democracy spoken of is
commonly credited to the fundamental of Athenians Greece by the philosopher Aristotle in 350 B.C.E.
the constitution set up an outline of governance that set term limits from life to 10 years and needing
to be a citizen to serve such terms. This also sets up how to be a citizen and a way for to slaves to
become a citizen. The constitution served as an outline for future democracy s constituents like that of
the united states constitution. I mean the democracy of the Athenians. We see more to admire, and less
to condemn, in that great, extraordinary people, than anything which history affords. (Paine)

democracy and representation together. Representation was a thing unknown in the

Analysis Of Steven Lubar´s Inside The Lost Museum
In Steven Lubar s book, Inside the Lost Museum: Curating, Past and Present, the recurring idea that
museums are more than the sum of their parts plays a critical role in the overall argument (329). Lubar
notes many aspects that make up a museum, the collection, for example is an essential part of any
museum, but the community, as well as the experiences of the patrons create a lasting museum
experience. Additionally, Lubar aptly utilizes real world examples, contemporary and historical,
highlighting the work of individuals in museums and establishing a connection between past and
current events. Central to this narrative is the example of the lost Jenks Museum. Lubar uses this
museum to argue that museums of the past can educate museum goers ... Show more content on

Lubar states that large museums have so much in storage; why not transfer some of those collections
to smaller museums, where they would be eagerly put on display? Even more radical why not sell
some and use the proceeds to fund the work that museums should be doing (146). Initially, this idea
does seem radical. Large metropolitan museums giving their collections away is not something that is
often done. Lubar explains that there are more than a billion objects in American museum collections
(4). This number is so vast that is impossible to reasonably conceive. Because of this, there can only
so many artifacts that are on display at once thus leaving countless others stuck in storage never seeing
the light of day. Smaller museums that do not have the budget to collect could potentially benefit from

In the end, Lubar concedes that this idea probably goes too far (146). In reality, it would not be as easy

repurposed items that the museum had deaccessioned and gave them new life (325). This example
proves that it is possible for museums to clear out their storage and at the same time be apart of

Aristotle s Six Elements Of Drama Essay
In the popular sitcom TV series Friends (1994 2010), has displayed all of Aristotle s six important
elements throughout the show that were required for the drama. The main plot of the show is
revolving around six best friends living together in Manhattan, and following up with their everyday
personal and professional lives. Throughout the show, all six elements of drama are being taken place
in the modern series showing that regardless of small changes here and there, there are still
connections back to Aristotle s view.
Aristotle s first element is Plot which requires to have the whole, complete, and magnitude. In the first
episode of season 1: The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate, the storyline starts out with Monica
meeting her old high school best friend Rachel. And since Rachel was having some personal life
problems, she ends up moving in with Monica and stays as her best friend till the end of the show. The
whole of the show is Monica and Rachel s relationship from the beginning till the end has stayed the
same. Although eventually Rachel had to move out of Monica s apartment, their friendship still
continued on and is considered to be stronger compared to the beginning of their meeting. The
complete which is also known as the unity of action was displayed because when the two girls were
having problems, both were able to solve and help out each other. They were able to put each other as
their main priority and showing each other the attention they need. And the magnitude is absolutely
present because although it was quite abrupt with Rachel is moving in with Monica, but as the story
went on. Everything was relevant to all the other characters: Chandler, Joey, Ross, and Phoebe. Which
show the whole purpose of the show, friends are meant to stay together till the end, even though they
all had problems with one another at one certain point, but were still able to move past and have a
stronger, inseparable bond throughout the whole sitcom series.
The second element is Character and each of the characters have displayed moral goodness, true to
life, and had a consistent appearance throughout the show. The first character is Monica Geller, who is
known to be the mom of the group. She has always provided

The Theory Of Multiple Intelligence By Dr. Howard Gardner
The theory of multiple intelligence is one that came about in 1983. It is the theory that intelligence
should not just be measured by an IQ test. Intelligence is much more than just a test, and has far more
different aspects. Dr. Howard Gardner came up with the theory of multiple intelligence and the
thought that there are many different types of intelligences. Gardner actually believes that there are
eight or more different types of intelligences. According to Teachers, Schools, and Society Gardner
believes that his theory of multiple intelligences more accurately captures the diverse nature of human
capability. (pg 29) Some of the eight intelligences Gardner came up with are, Logical mathematical,
linguistic, bodily kinesthetic, musical, spatial, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist. Logical
mathematical is an intelligence that relates more to numbers and problem solving. Linguistic
intelligence relates to meanings of sounds and words. Bodily kinesthetic is related to physical activity,
and being able to handle and manipulate items to learn. Musical intelligence is related to being able to
produce pitch and rhythm. Spatial intelligence is being picture smart and being able to see a model or
drawing in their mind. Interpersonal intelligence is being people smart, and being able to analyze
people s moods. Intrapersonal intelligence is knowing yourself and your own feelings and needs. Then
there s naturalist, where someone has the ability to nurture living

Language Assessment And Language Proficiency
Language Assessment and Language Proficiency Standard There are three main goals in teaching
English as a second language. These goals are: To use English to communicate in social settings, to
use English to achieve academically in all content areas and to use English in socially and culturally
appropriate ways (Short, 2000). With these goals in mind, language proficiency standards (LPS) have
been developed to help insructors achieve the highest level of ESL instruction. The Educate America
Act of the early 1990 s fostered a movement among professional education associations to develop
standards for specific academic content areas (Short, 2000). These national standards were for federal
and state insitutions to have guidelines in designing curriculum and assessments. Also these standards
would help promote the professional develop of teachers.
How do assessments based on language proficiency standards promote language learning? According
to the Center for Adult English Language Acquisition (CAELA) assessments are defined as , The use
of instruments and procedures to gather data on a regular basis for such purposes as identifying
learners needs, documenting learners progress, or determining how program services are meeting
learners needs (CAELA, 2015). Assessments are used to help instructors evaluate how effective their
teaching methods are, to help students know how much information they have obtained and to inform

Thus, the famine is attributed to the poor distribution of grain. Grain was also exported to other
countries during this time, making this a contributing factor to the famine.
Soviet authorities had been well aware of the possibility of a famine, as some had made trips to the
countryside and viewed the lack of seed in the kolkhozes and the decrease in livestock.
Grain production began to recover and by the end of 1934, it was announced that 70% of peasant
households were in collectives rising to 90% in 1936, however the figures never rose to what they
were before the introduction of collectivisation.

The Child Of A Pastor And A Housewife
The child of a pastor and a housewife, Samuel Morse was born on April 27, 1791. He was an inventor
and an artist during the 19th century. His invention of the telegraph, along with the creation of the
famous Morse code used to send messages across a radio wave, would change the history and use of
messaging. These inventions would make a huge impact during certain events like the Civil War and
the tragic sinking of the Titanic. Samuel Finley Breese Morse was born on April 27, 1791 in
Charlestown, Massachusetts, to Jeddiah Morse and Elizabeth Ann Finley, whom they named after

his messaging idea to come to life Samuel would need help and money. As a way to make money he

Since the beginning of time, many bands and artists have helped shape the way people live. Thirty

the most successful composers of all time. Taking in the world and challenges around them, both of
these artists overcame many obstacles to become what they are known for. Their fans have followed

Essay on Romance Movies and Real Life Relationships
Today, romance is one of the most popular genres to watch on television. Unlike most, romance is a
genre where the plot revolves around the love between two main characters as they experience the
highs and lows of love. Common themes that revolve around romantic movies are kissing, love at first
sight, tragic love, destructive love, and sentimental love (Taylor). These themes appear in many
historical films and the pattern still continues in modern films as well. Watching romantic movies has
a giant negative influence on the viewer s analysis of what love and relationships should really be like.

The article Romantic Comedies Affect Beliefs About Relationships , written by Arlyn Riskind,
suggests to readers that romantic films are a major source for developing unrealistic expectations
about love and relationships. A survey of 335 undergraduate students in the Midwest found a
significant relationship between reporting watching romantic films often and belief in the ideals love
conquers all, one and only love (soul mate) and love at first sight (Riskind). These findings
compliment the expectation that watching romantic movies is a major source leading to the unrealistic
expectations among viewers. In addition, romantic comedies also give the wrong impression on
relationships. If viewers are getting the wrong idea about love itself, then that leads them into
expecting more out of relationships as well. Almost every romantic movie is generally targeted toward
women and has the same basic format: Boy meets girl, mutual feelings develop, conflicts arise and are
overcome. Then, the story concludes with a happy ending as the two characters live happily ever after
together (Hefner). The article Contradictory Messages: A Content Analysis of Hollywood Produced

My Experience at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York
Never before have I seen a museum as grand as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. From
its architecture to its massive art collection, The Met has a little bit of everything and one is sure to
find something that captures his or her interest. Considering that The Met is the United States largest
art museum, it is easy to get lost within its many corridors and wings. My visit to The Met took place
during the last week of July. Despite the almost unbearable heat and humidity that hung in the air,
visiting museums under these climate conditions is a welcome respite from a suffocating, yet bright
summer afternoon. One of the first things that I noticed about The Met was its exterior architecture.
Like many historical buildings and museums, The Met s architecture is highly influenced by European
architecture; in this case, it appears as though the architecture is attempting to emulate the gothic style.
Once inside the daunting faรงade, I was pleasantly surprised to see how richly illuminated the
museum was. What made it even more remarkable was that much of the light appeared to permeate
through skylights that had been built into the building s ceiling. Moreover, I was pleasantly surprised
to see that The Met was considerably less crowded than the American Museum of Natural History,
which I had visited the day before. As I began to wander through the museum, I stumbled upon one of
the best Egyptian collections I have ever seen, with the exception of special travelling

When the film is detailing more of the distressing components of this case, suspenseful and tense
music is playing. One key scene where non diegetic sound is utilised, is when a picture of Doomadgee

CONVINCING CONSUMERS:
The main issue on Hybrid vehicles was that most of consumers did not believe it as a real car.
Overtime, Toyota succeeded to convince the automobile buyers that Toyota Prius is a real, usable and
efficient hybrid car.
DRIVING RESPONSIBILITY.
Toyota Prius has been equipped with a monitoring system which helps the driver to know how to run
his/her car to have a better function and reduce the fuel usage and save more energy. This helps the
driver to feel responsible on his/her driving and to maximize the car fuel efficiency.
LONG TERM PLAN BEFORE LAUNCHING THE PRODUCT:
Although Toyota invented this new hybrid vehicle more than ten years ago, it did not offer the car to
the USA consumers immediately. The main reason was that Toyota was aware of the new technology
challenges. While Toyota was on the market research and new product development, other companies
were focusing on merger and acquisition. Brand recognition, technology changes and improvement
take several years to finish and Toyota wanted to launch a product which has cleared all the possible
obstacles such as space, efficiency, speed, safety, weight which can meet all consumers expectations.
MAINTAINS ITS COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES OVER COMPETITORS
The introduction of Toyota Prius was not just a short term goal. Toyota had much broader goals.

A Possible Examination Done By Rhetoric Experts Essay
A Possible Examination Done By Rhetoric Experts On the morning of September 11, 2001, al Qaeda
terrorists carried out a set of coordinated suicide attacks with four hijacked passenger planes and killed
around 3,000 people on American soil. The first two planes hit the World Trade center and killed
everyone on board and hundreds inside the buildings. Following this attack, the nation was informed
by President Bush that these attacks were, apparent terrorist attacks on our country
(http://www.history.com/topics/9 11 timeline). The third hijacked plane soon crashed into the
Pentagon in Washington, D.C., killing multiple people aboard and 125 military and civilian personnel
inside the building. The fourth plane was deliberately crashed into a field in Somerset County,
Pennsylvania, taking the lives of all the people and the crew aboard after a few passengers tried to take
the plane back from the hijackers. With thousands of lives taken and the American people frightened
and needing answers, they expected someone to deliver a speech addressed to the nation to provide
some form of comfort and guidance. George W. Bush, as president, was the only logical rhetor to fill
that need, and nine days later on September 20, 2011; George W. Bush addressed the Nation in a Joint

Abstract This is a new optimization algorithm which mimic the behavior of mosquito to find a hole in
mosquito net, if any. Both the flying and sliding motion of the mosquito have been modelled and
incorporated in the algorithm. The algorithm was tested for global minima on different type of
benchmark functions of various dimension and modality. Namely Gramacy Lee, Ackley, Rastrigin,
Rosenbrock, Griewank and Schwefel functions of one, two, five, ten and thirty dimensions. The
experiment was done with thirty different seeds generated randomly for each function and dimension.
The algorithm was found to be efficient, convergent and accurate.

I: Introduction
Optimization can be defined as the search for the best possible solution(s) to a given problem. For this,
there are a number of optimization techniques both conventional and new meta heuristics. The
conventional methods are gradient based which are although quite faster in convergence, but are not
applicable for discontinuous, non differentiable and complex multimodal functions. These techniques
have limitations to find the global optima and have general tendency to stuck at local optima as they
start with a single point. Hence there are exhaustive search methods to tackle

I will see how true they are to The Raven, how sufficient the acting is, the setting, and the delivery of

much better job. Finally, when the raven says nevermore, it doesn t move its beak at all. Random

This movie accurately shows us that Dory has Anterograde Amnesia. One specific scene where this
disorder is displayed is in the beginning when Dory s parents are telling her what to say when she

people and start playing hide and seek. When the parents tell her to count to 10, she counts up to 3 and
forgets what they are doing. She then wanders off to a group of fish and their parents immediately
chase after her. This scene accurately displays Anterograde Amnesia since it shows us that Dory is

disorder is displayed is when Dory can t remember where her parents are as a result of accidentally

she said and repeats the same thing again. This shows that Dory s short term memory loss or
Anterograde Amnesia causes her to forget where her parents are and even makes herself look

she has Anterograde Amnesia is when she is sleeping and then gets up to ask one of her friends a

Social Issues In Kendrick Lamar s Alright
Through songs many people express their feelings of the world threw the words they have wrote.
Many songs talk about civil rights of the people and how change should be an option. In the world we
live in today we have social issues that people have to face such as: police brutality, racial profiling,
discrimination etc. Through Kendrick Lamar, Public Enemy, The Game, Bebe Winans, and N.W.A
they will use their voice as a weapon for change among all people. Music with a message thrives in a
live setting, for obvious reasons, and many politically conscious musicians aim to channel the
heightened emotions
Kendrick Lamar s song Alright talks about race and how African Americans are being targeted and
profiled. The song tells about the gun violence and police brutality that is effecting our community,
And we hate Popo, wanna kill us dead in the street for sure, n... (Line 35). This quote out of his song
is significant because in the world we live in someone gets killed every day for the color of their skin
color or a profile that someone made off assumptions. As the song goes he tell about how African
Americans were discriminated. When you know, we been hurt, been down before, n... / When our
pride was low, lookin at the world like, where do we go, n...? (Line 33 34). Throughout the years
African Americans are looked down on to the point where they do not know what their purpose is. For

Copyright infringement is a huge ethical issue going on right now. From downloading movies and
music from peer to peer programs as well as various websites to being able to stream a movie at the
click of a button without a copy ever being saved on the computer it s so simple, anyone could get
addicted to doing it. For some of these reasons many argue that copyright infringement is a moral
thing to do, but on the other hand others believe it is just as immoral as stealing. When comparing and
contrasting reasons for why copyright infringement is moral and why it is immoral I think when it
comes down to it it is stealing and would obviously be immoral. Before comparing the morality of
copyright infringement it needs to be understood what copyright infringement is and how it is done.
Coming directly from the United States Copyright Office. Copyright infringement is when a
copyrighted work is reproduced, distributed, performed, publicly displayed, or made into a derivative
work without the permission of the copyright owner (par 5). It s pretty obvious that downloading
copyrighted music from a website for free without owners permission is copyright infringement, but
there are other things that also constitute as infringement that many people haven t even considered.

Consequences Of PBL Corporal Punishment
PBL Corporal Punishment April 19, 2017, will mark the fortieth anniversary of the historic Ingraham
v. Wright ruling. Although perhaps not as well known as other Supreme Court cases such, as Marbury
v. Madison (which will forever be tattooed on any U.S. History student s brain), it is still a milestone
in America s past, one whose repercussions echo to this day. Ingraham v. Wright concluded that
corporal punishment in schools was not a violation of a student s constitutional rights, as James
Ingraham, a student whose severe punishment necessitated medical attention, had proposed
(Oluwole). In the end, the judge adhered to this American tradition by defending it as reasonable, not
excessive, and by allowing it to continue with only a few regulations ... Show more content on

Wright case. Forty years since the United States, the same country whose constitution protects its
citizen from cruel and unusual punishment, defended physical aggression against children. It s been
forty years, and many things have changed: the Iron Curtain fell, Britney Spears had her iconic mental
breakdown, and (thankfully) parachute pants went out of style. However, corporal punishment has
continued to be practiced in thousands of schools, despite innumerable case studies, experiments, and
testimonies that deny its validity. Corporal punishment should stop being practiced in schools because
it does not fix behavioral issues and because it leaves lasting physical and emotional scars on a child.
It is a relic of a different era, a method that has been tried and that has failed. Why our society
continues to implement this unqualified method astonishes not only American citizens, but nations
across the world. America, you laud yourself on your equality, your fairness, your haven for the
oppressed and beaten down. However, both allow and defend unconstitutional, cruel punishment in
you schools, where your children spend their days. It is time to end this practice, if not for the morality
of the situation, but for the cost it places on your forward

Chopin s Story
The use of setting in literary papers develops interesting and captivating stories. The Story of an Hour
is based on Kate Chopin use setting as a tactic to build suspense in her narratives. On the other hand,
the use of setting by Chopin in Story of an Hour is used to generate suspense and mystery. In Story of
an Hour Chopin sets the story at the beginning, giving it a twist, reveals a truth that is going to
generate questions on the reader. However, the setting of Story of an Hour is very limited. Chopin uses
the setting of the narrative to reflect the feelings of Mrs. Mallard, whom is trapped in her life. This
story develops in the house of the Mallard family and most part of it occurs in Mrs. Mallard room as
she receives the news

The Membrane And Its Effects On Human Development
It is generally accepted that resting CaMKIIβ bundles and stabilizes actin cytoskeleton. Transient
activation of CaMKIIβ relaxes cytoskeleton, promotes actin polymerization and CaMKIIβ
recruitment, and favors cytoskeleton growth. This model has been shown in both synaptogenesis
(Okamoto et al., 2007) and OL maturation (Waggener et al., 2013). Based on this theory, we proposed
that prolonged CaMKIIβ activation by NMDA R mediated Ca2+ influx leads to destabilization of
actin cytoskeleton and membrane disintegration in mature OLs. Although our experiments
unambiguously showed that NMDA R activation results in CaMKIIβ activation, direct proof that links
CaMKIIβ activation and membrane reduction are lacking. All the existing CaMKIIβ inhibitors ...

As mentioned in chapter 5, a repeated measure experiment using OLs from CaMKIIβA303R mice will
be the best way to investigate this question. The CaMKIIβA303R mutant retains its ability to bundle F
actin, but loses its Ca2+/CaM binding capacity. Based on our proposed model, Tat induced [Ca2+]i
increase should have no effect on OL membrane area since Ca2+/CaM can not bind and activate
CaMKIIβA303R, and promotes its release from actin cytoskeleton.
Most of our experiments are done in mice cells. Since HIV is a human disease, we used an hBrnAgg
model to try to verify our finding in human cells. We thought that the hBrnAgg model serves our
experiments best because 1) it mimics the in vivo environment with the presence of all major CNS cell
types, 2) myelination has been observed in the model by other investigators, thus fulfill the needs of
studying effect of HIV/Tat on both OLs and myelin, and 3) the hBrnAgg model can be maintained for
a long period of time (up to 60 days), made it a good model to study long term effect of HIV/Tat.
Our immunostaining experiments suggested that there are far less OLs in the aggregates than we
expected. Under EM, plenty of synaptic structures, both symmetric and asymmetric, were observed in
the hBrnAgg. However, cells with typical mature OL characteristics, including dark cytoplasm and
nucleus, elongated, thin strands of endoplasmic reticulum; numerous mitochondria, and stacks of
Golgi apparatus, were rarely

Barack Obama Thesis
Barack Obama: Writer in Chief President Barack Obama is know for remarkable events such as
becoming the first African American president of the United States; however, not everyone knows
about what else Obama has done. He is also an author who has written around twenty books including
a memoir about his early life leading up to his life in law school, and a children s book dedicated to
his daughters. His most famous book Dreams From My Father, a memoir about his early life leading
up to law school, is a prime example of what influenced him to write. There were many things that
happened in Obama s life that caused him to write. Things such as the segregation happening in the
U.S at the time, his broken home and his feelings towards his absent father. ... Show more content on

Throughout all of his writing, he talks about race and the desire of equality and how being segregated
affected him as a human being. While he was in college, he was one of three black students in the
school so he became really aware of the racism and discrimination. The current president stated I
noticed that there was nobody like me in the Sears, Roebuck Christmas catalog. . .and that Santa was a
white man. I went into the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror with all my senses and limbs
seemingly intact, looking as I had always looked, and wondered if something was wrong with me
(Barack Obama). Because of the difference in color and the stigma against black people, he would
wonder what was wrong with him and that later is one of his main issues that he addresses in his
political

Our Iceberg Is Melting, By John Kotter
Once upon a time a colony of penguins was living in the frozen Antarctic on an iceberg near what we
call today Cape Washington. From the first sentence of John Kotter s bestselling book, Our Iceberg Is
Melting, it is difficult to tell that one is about to read a great fable about how to manage change in
business as well as everyday life. ! The following summary will explain the key moments of the fable
and how they relate to our lives. First, let s introduce some of the more important penguins the
Leadership Council members. Louis, the head of the Leadership Council, could perhaps be considered
the CEO of the penguin colony. Alice is a smart, aggressive member of the council, and is Fred s loyal
confidant. Buddy is a young penguin council member who may not be the brightest bulb in the box,
but brings an element of trust among the council members. Fred is the most curious of all of the
penguins; although he was an unknown penguin in the beginning, he ultimately plays a very important
role in the change process. Jordan, also known as the Professor, was the brains of the council; he could
perhaps be considered the researcher of the group. Although the penguins start out simply as
individuals, in the end, they are a well working team capable of effectively managing change. Fred, a
quite curious penguin, studies the wonderful iceberg that the penguins consider home. He comes
across a problem which suggests that their beloved iceberg may be in danger of

Marijuana Has A Negative Effect On Your Health
I believe that cannabis has a negative effect on your health. Now I m fully aware that a portion of the
world s population truly believe that cannabis is nothing more than a harmless drug that is used for
nothing more than recreational use and will not have any long term effects on your health, but I want
you to ponder on the thought of my statement and why I might believe that cannabis has a negative
effect on your health. First what is cannabis? according to drugs.com cannabis also known as
Cannabis sativa, is a species of the Cannabaceae family plants and contains the chemical compound
THC (delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol), which is believed to be responsible for most of the characteristics
psychoactive effects of cannabis. Furthermore, what is health? according to Merriam Webster health is
the condition of being well or free from disease . Now if you just read the two definitions of cannabis
and health you can see why someone would want to further research this issue just based on the
wording alone, in the definition cannabis is says the plant can cause psychoactive effects and in the
definition of health it states free from disease but if one is using cannabis that can cause these effects it
would be impossible to truly be free from disease which lies the major problem and gets to the root of
my thought process and why I believe that cannabis has a negative effect on your health. To elaborate
more on the factors that contributed to me believing that cannabis has a

Implementation Of An Electronic Prescribing System
In order to obtain relevant information for implementing an electronic prescribing system, a variety of
sources were reviewed. As the HITECH Act nationwide was contributory to the recent surge of
adoption for e Rx systems, the focus of the research was to find research data reflective of successful
implementation and practical guidance. In order to extract retrieve necessary information, a variety of
sources were reviewed; journal articles, review articles, meta analysis, and national guidelines on
implementing e Rx systems. Due to the heightened interest for this particular topic, there is a lot of
valuable information and guidance available regarding adopting electronic health records (EHR) and e
prescribing systems on HealthIT.gov website and Center of Medicare Medicaid Services websites. In
order to analyze different aspects of e prescribing, five key areas were reviewed in depth. The five
areas consist of return on investment for implementing an e Rx, current landscape of e Rx systems,
barriers to e Rx s across the board, necessary steps in ensuring successful implementation of e Rx
systems among providers, and current situation at the VA. Understanding the five elements can better
equip and engage stakeholders as they prepare for implementation of an e Rx system. Without
establishing a solid understanding and weighing all the pros and cons, the pursuit of an e Rx system
may not guarantee a buy in from its stakeholders, resulting in a set back or even a failed

Next, the business should outsource only when it is appropriate considering the risks and benefits. And most importantly, we learned that in a small business situation, the company should focus on its core competency in bringing value to the business and the customers. II. Strategy Identification The challenges faced by Nucleon, Inc. present more of an issue with how to take full advantage of an opportunity in front of them, rather than a problem that poses a threat to the company. As a company in its early stages, only putting out its first product, it is critical that it is done in a manner that allows the budding firm to grow. The main issue here is determining the most effective means by which they are to manufacture and market their first product, CRP 1. Doing so requires in depth evaluation of three strategic options, all with their own benefits and potential risks. The problem statement, therefore, is as follows: Problem Statement: Nucleon, Inc. needs to determine the best course of action for the manufacturing and sale of its first product, CRP 1, in order to grow the budding company and gain sustained competitive advantage against large rivals. • 3. Occupational Therapy and Clinical Reasoning Clinical Reasoning Clinical Reasoning is an essential part of the assessment, treatment and evaluation process in occupational therapy (Neistadt, 1996). This reasoning is the skill set that the occupational therapist draws from when working with clients in related to function and performance. Neistadt (1996) suggested that clinical reasoning is the combination of five interacting components (Ward, 2003). This will be explained in the following essay and applied to a case study about a girl named Maria. Narrative Reasoning The first form of reasoning to be used will be the narrative reasoning. This will address Maria s occupational story. It considers temporal aspects such as the client s history and identifies what needs to change to accommodate occupational engagement in the future (Neistadt, 1996). Maria is fifteen years old. Her mother reports that Maria has been performing poorly in school and has withdrawn from her family. This began after her transition to secondary school. Her performance further deteriorated when she began second year. Maria stopped participating in a number of her occupations including hockey, playing the piano, the girl guides, shopping with friends and going to the cinema. She now prefers to stay on the computer of listening to music. Maria previously had a good relationship with her younger siblings. However, she has disengaged from these relationships. When I noticed the #ReasonsToLeaveEarth trending on twitter today, I thought to myself I have to write about that . So, here you go. My Top 6 Reasons to Leave Earth: #6 BILLS I mean, really, I hate to spend money. My dad taught me a lot of thing about money: here are the top two. Number one is to hold on to as much of it as you can, especially when you are young, because life isn t just about today. You need to have some wiggle room when life throws you a curve ball and you need to have a way to take care of yourself when you are old. Number two is that even though you should save, you have to spend money to make money (I hate dislike this very much). If you want to start a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To be able to call somewhere home where I didn t need to sleep in order to survive and function? Now, that would be a dream (pun intended  ). #3 FOOD I enjoy cooking, especially when I get to make something really delicious. But the need to have a balance sometimes gets in the way of my fun in the kitchen. I would be very much ok with leaving for a place where calories didn t count and everything tasted amazing! #2 PAIN AND SUFFERING No one likes to be sick or suffer. It breaks my heart to see my daughter fall and hurt herself or spend the night throwing up (and even worse if my hubby and I are throwing up too). And of course on this planet there is emotional suffering too. People are constantly fighting. No one seems to be able to get along for more than ten seconds. It doesn t matter if you are leaders of countries with opposing values or a husband and wife who can t decide on the color to pain the shutters tension is everywhere. I want to leave earth for a place where my family and I wouldn t have to deal with all the pain and suffering that life on this planet has been dealing us all these years. AND #1 INCOMPLETE I am incomplete here. Jesus Christ started a work in me when I chose to follow Him and make Him LORD of my life. That work won t be finished until I am face to face with Him in ... We worked very closely with our stakeholder to gain an understanding of how products are purchased, and quickly decided that our project would focus on office supplies because they are frequently purchased and widely used, and because there are not strict regulations regarding what kinds of products can be purchased/used (as there are for chemical cleaning supplies, for example). Additionally, we performed background research and analyzed the current University of California Sustainability Practices Policy as well as past UCLA Housing purchasing data. Our findings were surprising. We found that the current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taking all of this into consideration, we came up with the initial project idea of creating our own set of comprehensive procurement guidelines. These would be quantified, clear, and concise. However, we soon found that this project would be logistically difficult to complete and implement, given our resources and timeline. We also realized that the current guidelines are already available to UCLA staff, who, as the survey data indicated, are largely unaware of them. For this reason, simply updating the existing guidelines would have likely had little effect in changing purchasing behavior. The need for an educational component quickly became apparent indeed, nearly 50% of survey participants identified a lack of awareness/knowledge of sustainable products as the biggest obstacle to the sustainable procurement of office supplies at UCLA. We delved deeper into the current procurement system, learning that the UC System is contracted with OfficeMax and that it uses an interface known as BruinBuy to make purchases. We thus decided to use the OfficeMax Green Office catalog (available to the public online) to compile a product recommendation list. Oxford Advanced Learner s Dictionary (2005, p.1516) defines strategy as a plan that is intended to achieve a particular purpose or the process of planning something or putting a plan into operation in a skilful way . Chandler, A. D. Jr (1962, p.7) views strategy as the determination of the basic long term goals and objectives of an enterprise and the adoption of courses of action and the allocation of resources necessary to carry out these goals . Differentiation advantage can only be achieved when a firm is able to obtain from its differentiation a price premium in the market which exceeds the cost of providing differentiation (Robinson J., 1933). To gain differentiation competitive advantage, the company will have to invest a big budget to its product research and development. However, to remain it is another story. Apple is one of the pioneers in implementing this strategy. Focus: If the company cannot compete with both of the two above strategies, then it should think about focusing on occupying only one or a few market segments (niche market), with typical groups of customer. The customers of niche market are usually interested in either low price or differentiation, but other typical features instead. As these features are not popular, the product range of the companies following cost and differentiation cannot reach, and the company following focus strategy can avoid the fierce competition with the other two groups. Experiences play a vital role on who we are as a person, more importantly the memories that we ve had as children stick with us for the rest of our lives. Influence On Western Civilization Influence of Greece on western civilization Throughout history, there has been many to hold the title of the greatest and most influential western civilization. It is believed that Greece more specifically Ancient Greece is the first truly western civilization and has had a part in the following fields of education. Philosophy being what many would argue to be the second biggest contribution of Greece. With the first thought coming to my mind being Aristotle, Socrates, and Archimedes. These philosophers not only contributed to the field of philosophy; but to science, mathematics, literature, and poetry. Democracy being possibly the most important influence on all societies. • 21. Analysis Of Steven Lubar´s Inside The Lost Museum In Steven Lubar s book, Inside the Lost Museum: Curating, Past and Present, the recurring idea that museums are more than the sum of their parts plays a critical role in the overall argument (329). Lubar notes many aspects that make up a museum, the collection, for example is an essential part of any museum, but the community, as well as the experiences of the patrons create a lasting museum experience. Additionally, Lubar aptly utilizes real world examples, contemporary and historical, highlighting the work of individuals in museums and establishing a connection between past and current events. Lubar states that large museums have so much in storage; why not transfer some of those collections to smaller museums, where they would be eagerly put on display? Even more radical why not sell some and use the proceeds to fund the work that museums should be doing (146). Initially, this idea does seem radical. Large metropolitan museums giving their collections away is not something that is often done. Lubar explains that there are more than a billion objects in American museum collections (4). This number is so vast that is impossible to reasonably conceive. Because of this, there can only so many artifacts that are on display at once thus leaving countless others stuck in storage never seeing the light of day. Smaller museums that do not have the budget to collect could potentially benefit from larger museums deaccessioning items. In the end, Lubar concedes that this idea probably goes too far (146). In reality, it would not be as easy as it sounds and it would not be an easy solution to museum storage issues. However, in the book s closing Lubar draws on the example of Robert Fontenot s show Recycle LACMA (2009), which repurposed items that the museum had deaccessioned and gave them new life (325). This example proves that it is possible for museums to clear out their storage and at the same time be apart of creating something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. The Theory Of Multiple Intelligence By Dr. Howard Gardner The theory of multiple intelligence is one that came about in 1983. It is the theory that intelligence should not just be measured by an IQ test. Intelligence is much more than just a test, and has far more different aspects. Dr. Howard Gardner came up with the theory of multiple intelligence and the thought that there are many different types of intelligences. Gardner actually believes that there are eight or more different types of intelligences. According to Teachers, Schools, and Society Gardner believes that his theory of multiple intelligences more accurately captures the diverse nature of human capability. (pg 29) Some of the eight intelligences Gardner came up with are, Logical mathematical, linguistic, bodily kinesthetic, musical, spatial, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist. Logical mathematical is an intelligence that relates more to numbers and problem solving. Linguistic intelligence relates to meanings of sounds and words. Bodily kinesthetic is related to physical activity, and being able to handle and manipulate items to learn. Musical intelligence is related to being able to produce pitch and rhythm. Spatial intelligence is being picture smart and being able to see a model or drawing in their mind. Interpersonal intelligence is being people smart, and being able to analyze people s moods. Intrapersonal intelligence is knowing yourself and your own feelings and needs. Then there s naturalist, where someone has the ability to nurture living ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Language Assessment And Language Proficiency Language Assessment and Language Proficiency Standard There are three main goals in teaching English as a second language. These goals are: To use English to communicate in social settings, to use English to achieve academically in all content areas and to use English in socially and culturally appropriate ways (Short, 2000). With these goals in mind, language proficiency standards (LPS) have been developed to help insructors achieve the highest level of ESL instruction. The Educate America Act of the early 1990 s fostered a movement among professional education associations to develop standards for specific academic content areas (Short, 2000). These national standards were for federal and state insitutions to have guidelines in designing curriculum and assessments. Also these standards would help promote the professional develop of teachers. How do assessments based on language proficiency standards promote language learning? According to the Center for Adult English Language Acquisition (CAELA) assessments are defined as , The use of instruments and procedures to gather data on a regular basis for such purposes as identifying learners needs, documenting learners progress, or determining how program services are meeting learners needs (CAELA, 2015). The first two planes hit the World Trade center and killed everyone on board and hundreds inside the buildings. However, corporal punishment has continued to be practiced in thousands of schools, despite innumerable case studies, experiments, and testimonies that deny its validity. Corporal punishment should stop being practiced in schools because it does not fix behavioral issues and because it leaves lasting physical and emotional scars on a child. It is a relic of a different era, a method that has been tried and that has failed. Why our society continues to implement this unqualified method astonishes not only American citizens, but nations across the world. America, you laud yourself on your equality, your fairness, your haven for the oppressed and beaten down. However, both allow and defend unconstitutional, cruel punishment in you schools, where your children spend their days. It is time to end this practice, if not for the morality of the situation, but for the cost it places on your forward ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Chopin s Story The use of setting in literary papers develops interesting and captivating stories. The Story of an Hour is based on Kate Chopin use setting as a tactic to build suspense in her narratives. On the other hand, the use of setting by Chopin in Story of an Hour is used to generate suspense and mystery. In Story of an Hour Chopin sets the story at the beginning, giving it a twist, reveals a truth that is going to generate questions on the reader. However, the setting of Story of an Hour is very limited. Chopin uses the setting of the narrative to reflect the feelings of Mrs. Mallard, whom is trapped in her life. This story develops in the house of the Mallard family and most part of it occurs in Mrs. Mallard room as she receives the news ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Membrane And Its Effects On Human Development It is generally accepted that resting CaMKIIβ bundles and stabilizes actin cytoskeleton. Transient activation of CaMKIIβ relaxes cytoskeleton, promotes actin polymerization and CaMKIIβ recruitment, and favors cytoskeleton growth. This model has been shown in both synaptogenesis (Okamoto et al., 2007) and OL maturation (Waggener et al., 2013). Based on this theory, we proposed that prolonged CaMKIIβ activation by NMDA R mediated Ca2+ influx leads to destabilization of actin cytoskeleton and membrane disintegration in mature OLs. Although our experiments unambiguously showed that NMDA R activation results in CaMKIIβ activation, direct proof that links CaMKIIβ activation and membrane reduction are lacking. All the existing CaMKIIβ inhibitors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As mentioned in chapter 5, a repeated measure experiment using OLs from CaMKIIβA303R mice will be the best way to investigate this question. The CaMKIIβA303R mutant retains its ability to bundle F actin, but loses its Ca2+/CaM binding capacity. Based on our proposed model, Tat induced [Ca2+]i increase should have no effect on OL membrane area since Ca2+/CaM can not bind and activate CaMKIIβA303R, and promotes its release from actin cytoskeleton. Most of our experiments are done in mice cells. Since HIV is a human disease, we used an hBrnAgg model to try to verify our finding in human cells. We thought that the hBrnAgg model serves our experiments best because 1) it mimics the in vivo environment with the presence of all major CNS cell types, 2) myelination has been observed in the model by other investigators, thus fulfill the needs of studying effect of HIV/Tat on both OLs and myelin, and 3) the hBrnAgg model can be maintained for a long period of time (up to 60 days), made it a good model to study long term effect of HIV/Tat. Our immunostaining experiments suggested that there are far less OLs in the aggregates than we expected. Under EM, plenty of synaptic structures, both symmetric and asymmetric, were observed in the hBrnAgg. However, cells with typical mature OL characteristics, including dark cytoplasm and nucleus, elongated, thin strands of endoplasmic reticulum; numerous mitochondria, and stacks of Golgi apparatus, were rarely ... • 46. Barack Obama Thesis Barack Obama: Writer in Chief President Barack Obama is know for remarkable events such as becoming the first African American president of the United States; however, not everyone knows about what else Obama has done. He is also an author who has written around twenty books including a memoir about his early life leading up to his life in law school, and a children s book dedicated to his daughters. His most famous book Dreams From My Father, a memoir about his early life leading up to law school, is a prime example of what influenced him to write. There were many things that happened in Obama s life that caused him to write. Things such as the segregation happening in the U.S at the time, his broken home and his feelings towards his absent father. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout all of his writing, he talks about race and the desire of equality and how being segregated affected him as a human being. While he was in college, he was one of three black students in the school so he became really aware of the racism and discrimination. The current president stated I noticed that there was nobody like me in the Sears, Roebuck Christmas catalog. . .and that Santa was a white man. I went into the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror with all my senses and limbs seemingly intact, looking as I had always looked, and wondered if something was wrong with me (Barack Obama). Because of the difference in color and the stigma against black people, he would wonder what was wrong with him and that later is one of his main issues that he addresses in his political ... • 47. Our Iceberg Is Melting, By John Kotter Once upon a time a colony of penguins was living in the frozen Antarctic on an iceberg near what we call today Cape Washington. From the first sentence of John Kotter s bestselling book, Our Iceberg Is Melting, it is difficult to tell that one is about to read a great fable about how to manage change in business as well as everyday life. ! The following summary will explain the key moments of the fable and how they relate to our lives. First, let s introduce some of the more important penguins the Leadership Council members. Louis, the head of the Leadership Council, could perhaps be considered the CEO of the penguin colony. Alice is a smart, aggressive member of the council, and is Fred s loyal confidant. Buddy is a young penguin council member who may not be the brightest bulb in the box, but brings an element of trust among the council members. Fred is the most curious of all of the penguins; although he was an unknown penguin in the beginning, he ultimately plays a very important role in the change process. Jordan, also known as the Professor, was the brains of the council; he could perhaps be considered the researcher of the group. Although the penguins start out simply as individuals, in the end, they are a well working team capable of effectively managing change. Fred, a quite curious penguin, studies the wonderful iceberg that the penguins consider home. He comes across a problem which suggests that their beloved iceberg may be in danger of ... • 48. Marijuana Has A Negative Effect On Your Health I believe that cannabis has a negative effect on your health. Now I m fully aware that a portion of the world s population truly believe that cannabis is nothing more than a harmless drug that is used for nothing more than recreational use and will not have any long term effects on your health, but I want you to ponder on the thought of my statement and why I might believe that cannabis has a negative effect on your health. First what is cannabis? according to drugs.com cannabis also known as Cannabis sativa, is a species of the Cannabaceae family plants and contains the chemical compound THC (delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol), which is believed to be responsible for most of the characteristics psychoactive effects of cannabis. Furthermore, what is health? according to Merriam Webster health is the condition of being well or free from disease . Now if you just read the two definitions of cannabis and health you can see why someone would want to further research this issue just based on the wording alone, in the definition cannabis is says the plant can cause psychoactive effects and in the definition of health it states free from disease but if one is using cannabis that can cause these effects it would be impossible to truly be free from disease which lies the major problem and gets to the root of my thought process and why I believe that cannabis has a negative effect on your health. To elaborate more on the factors that contributed to me believing that cannabis has a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Implementation Of An Electronic Prescribing System In order to obtain relevant information for implementing an electronic prescribing system, a variety of sources were reviewed. As the HITECH Act nationwide was contributory to the recent surge of adoption for e Rx systems, the focus of the research was to find research data reflective of successful implementation and practical guidance. In order to extract retrieve necessary information, a variety of sources were reviewed; journal articles, review articles, meta analysis, and national guidelines on implementing e Rx systems. Due to the heightened interest for this particular topic, there is a lot of valuable information and guidance available regarding adopting electronic health records (EHR) and e prescribing systems on HealthIT.gov website and Center of Medicare Medicaid Services websites. In order to analyze different aspects of e prescribing, five key areas were reviewed in depth. The five areas consist of return on investment for implementing an e Rx, current landscape of e Rx systems, barriers to e Rx s across the board, necessary steps in ensuring successful implementation of e Rx systems among providers, and current situation at the VA. Understanding the five elements can better equip and engage stakeholders as they prepare for implementation of an e Rx system. Without establishing a solid understanding and weighing all the pros and cons, the pursuit of an e Rx system may not guarantee a buy in from its stakeholders, resulting in a set back or even a failed ...
