Coriolanus And Cressida Essay
Chris Baldick defines rhetoric as the deliberate exploitation of eloquence for the most persuasive
effect . This is certainly seen at work in Coriolanus and Troilus and Cressida, two Jacobean
dramas with war and politics at their centre. In both plays, characters attempt to employ rhetoric as
a persuasive tool for political ends. In Troilus and Cressida, Ulysses aims to use rhetoricand political
machinations to mobilise a war weary army. On the other hand, Coriolanus s reluctance to use, and
dislike of, rhetoric, results in further social disruption and war. Though rhetoric may be considered
an unethical tool of manipulation, it is nonetheless useful for maintaining social order in these
plays, where war threatens to throw society... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The New York Times discusses prominent news from across the globe, which is important in the
ever connected world that we live in today. For example, in the article Ten Centuries Later, a
Pope and Knights Do Battle , the Times discusses the conflict in interests between Pope Francis
and the Knights of Malta that resulted in the Pope demanding the leader s resignation. Other
international issues are spoken about in the article Europe s Overlapping Crises , which
discusses some of the biggest problems that Europe faces as a whole, such as the results of
Brexit, economic relief in Greece, and the spread of America s new sense of nationalism to other
countries. These are big, doting questions that will affect Europe today and in the future. On a
lighter note, the article Committed is a celebration of 165 years of wedding announcements and
gives us an in depth look at the marriage of Sarah and John Grant, the first couple to have their
wedding announcement in the Times. Lastly, the Times also covers the death of the actor John
Hurt, which was also one of Facebook s trending topics for the day. These international articles are
not always big topics in the United States unless they directly affect us as a nation, but,
nevertheless, they must be reported as worldwide problems can have a domino effect and
eventually become our problem as well. When we compare these two sources, it is important to

Time Traveler
Wells purposely uses a first person frame narration to leave a more profound impression upon the
reader. The embedded narrator serves to connect with the readers in a way that the Time Traveller
(TT) cannot, he distances readers from the TT and, by doing so leaves them sceptical of the
ambiguous and fictional nature of the story. In the extract, the narratorreveals that the TT s character
cannot be understood easily, since he is not an average human but one of those men who are too
clever to be believed... [and] had more than a touch of whim among his elements (Wells 11). It is
disclosed that the TT s motives could not be perceived by anyone, suggesting that perhaps he is not
meant to be understood by anyone, be it the narrator himself or the readers.

narrator is telling the story exactly as he was told not adding his own perspective. The narrator

The Confederate Flag Analysis
CNN)During the Civil War, it was a patch of the South so reviled by the Confederacy for its pro
Union leanings that it in 1862 it was declared enemy territory by the secessionist government.
The area s most celebrated native, Andrew Johnson, was the only Southern senator to remain loyal
to the Union. Johnson would go on to become president, succeeding Abraham Lincoln.
Now, more than 150 years later, Greene County, Tennessee, is once again ruffling feathers on
matters pertaining to the long gone Confederacy. This time, however, the rebellious county just
might turn the historical tables and for the first time fly the Rebel flag. The county commission will
vote Monday on a resolution to fly the controversial banner above its county courthouse.

Commissioner Randolph may not like this history, but it has the virtue of being factual. He should
be celebrating Greene County s heritage of resistance to the Confederacy, not propping up a
grotesque distortion of history that debases our true past and offends many, many of our own
neighbors.
Flag s divisive power
The Confederate flag has long been a lightning rod, especially deep in the heart of Dixie, where the
memory of Jim Crow and institutional racism still cuts deep in some quarters.
But in the wake of a hate fueled mass murder of African Americans in Charleston, South Carolina,
in June, the Confederate flag has increasingly grown out of fashion, even below the Mason Dixon
line, as more and more institutions, retailers and state capitols distance themselves from a symbol
that for so many symbolizes the very hatred embraced by the Dylann Roofs of the world.
But none of that seems to matter to Randolph, who told WJHL that his proposal has nothing to do
with race or anything.

Why Recycling Is Important
Why is Recycling of CFLs Important?
Fluorescent bulbs emit dangerous gas and mercury into the environment when they break. Dumping
these bulbs in the trash or compactor often break these bulbs. In the end, these bulbs reach a
landfill or incinerator after thrown into a dumpster. Recycling is the safest and highly
recommended method to treat these bulbs instead of throwing into a dumpster. In this way, CFLs
will not release any harmful gas or mercury to the environment. Plus, the materials used for making
these bulbs can be reused too. In addition, all components of a fluorescent bulb can be easily
recycled.

The Characteristics Of The Humanist Movement In The Iliad
There are many unknowns regarding who Homer was. His date of birth and death are still a
mystery to modern day historians, ranging anywhere between the twelfth to eighth century BCE.
As to where he was born, no one knows the exact location. Although there are many mysteries
revolving around Homer s life, there is one known fact: his epics changed history forever. Homer
s epics are one of the only few artifacts historians have to learn about Homer, which can reveal a
lot if read carefully. After reading the Iliad, it became clear that Homer was an early Humanist, one
who possibly shaped or inspired the Humanist movement in Classical Greeceduring the fifth and
fourth century BCE. The Humanist movement during Classical Greece glorified the human
body, which can be shown through the many sculptures and paintings created during the era.
These sculptures resembled the ideal human body, the body every Greek should strive to
achieve. The ideal body type was that of an athlete (PBS, 2017). There are hints of this image of
the ideal body in Homer s Iliad. The section of the text that indicates that Homer can be an early
humanist is when he writes, Here was the ugliest man who ever came to Troy. Bandy legged he
was, with one foot clubbed, both shoulders humped together, curving over his caved in chest, and
bobbing above them his skull warped to a point, sprouting clumps of scraggly, woolly hair (Homer
750 BCE, 250 255). In this description of Thersites, Homer never calls him

Lack Of Rule Of Law Enforcement Essay
There is systemic corruption in Latin America. Corruption is rooted in the psyche of the South

shorter to bribe rather than commit to broken processes. Moreover, corruption affects the highest
levels of government. In order to face this problem, Latin America has made significant progress in
combating poverty and inequality. The economic developmentof states in Latin America allows
them to benefit from the international trade but it is not enough to maintain economic stability

is affected by problems of corruption and drug trafficking. Weak states are the biggest challenge in
Western Hemisphere, because corruption in Latin America is one of the factor that creates lack of
rule of law. In addition, a weak economy and absence of adequate law enforcement creates a safe
haven for transnational criminal organization. Moreover, the region presents serious problems in
the quality of democracy regarding human rights, as well as illegal immigration. Globalization both

Narcissistic Stereotypes
The youngest generation obsesses over gaining approval in a way unprecedented by the past. This
obsession stems from the increase of narcissistic attitudes found in children, including
overconfidence, a deep need for admiration, and a lack of empathy (Mayo Clinic Staff). The
skyrocketing growth of social networking and the increase in the prevalence of superficial
celebrities shown in the media only enhances narcissistic behaviors. However, these attitudes are
initially caused by the actions of parents. An occurring shift in parenting styles centers around
rewarding kids even when the child s amount of effort does not warrant praise. This type of award

The biggest influence of personality are childhood experiences and the way in which parents choose
to raise their kids. The shift in parenting styles contributes to the growing levels of narcissistic
attitudes presented in the youngest generation. Because of the shift in values, the media evolved to
highlight vain celebrities instead of focusing on the successes of brilliant, hard working people.
Social media takes away the emotional involvement in relationships and replaces those feelings
with shallow gratification that causes people to grow an unhealthy attachment to the social
network. Nothing can replace the convenience of social media, but if society changes the way it
views online relationships then the focus will shift from having online relationships to improving
interpersonal communication. Narcissism is a problem that can be fixed with healthy role models

Literary Explication Of Shakespeare s Sonnet 130
Literary Explication When thinking of a love poem, one thinks of a clichГ© description of the
speaker s lover or maybe is an imaginative portrayal of love in a general sense. Love poems
always have an exaggerating characteristic when describing something or someone. Sonnet 130 by
William Shakespeare, is a parody of love poetry; love is not always like it is illustrated in others
contemporaries poems. The author of this sonnet uses the traditional English sonnet form,
containing fourteen lines, written in iambic pentameter, and has an ABABCDCDEFEFGG rhyme
scheme. The sonnet s form is part of the parody because usually love sonnets writers use traditional
sonnet forms, an example for this is Francesco Petrarch that is well known for his love sonnets
written in Italian sonnet form. Shakespeare makes the contradiction between a traditional sonnet
form and a non traditional content of the sonnet. The content of this sonnet, a decretory description
of the speaker s lover, is very opposite to a traditional love poem s content. In the first three
quatrains of Sonnet 130 , the speaker compares his mistress with various thing and tells us how she
doesn t measures up to them. In the last couplet the speaker changes... Show more content on

ending the poem on a sweet note. By turning the theme he goes from the person who he is

Frida Kahlo Vs Jacques Derrida
It can be argued that Frida Kahlo is a painter that challenged the ideas pertaining to gender, race,
and sexuality. She is known for questioning the essence of these identities. Kahlo famously painted
depictions which show her questioning and exploring her own identity. When looking at her whole
body of work, it is apparent that Kahlo was interested in gender and racial constructs. Frida Kahlos
painting, Diego and Frida, 1929 1944 is one visual example of how Frida Kahlo was an artist that
challenged ideas surrounding gender, race, and sexuality. This painting can be seen through the lens
of deconstruction to offer a deeper insight into its meaning. Vernon Minor and Jacques Derrida are
art theorists that have also speculated about deconstruction. These two both made an argument that

Deconstruction at its core is an act that ask questions for the sake of asking questions. This is so
because deconstruction is not about reaching a conclusion. Rather, deconstruction seeks to
expand questioning in order to expand perception. Jacques Derrida points out, that there is no
such thing as true deconstruction. Derrida states that every decoding is another encoding It is
important to note that in so saying this, Derrida has fundamentally defining a key characteristic
of decoding. There is no way to truly decode as there is always a naturally occurring need to seek
to define what has been decoded. This, however, is not the goal of decoding. The true aim of
decoding is to continually ask questions in order to raise new questions thus, new understanding.

decoding. In particular, Frida Kahlo uses binary opposites as imagery in this

order to treat war injuries. Page 3. 1. AUTHOURSHIP There has been much debate as to who the
author was. A major part of the papyrus was written by one scribe, with only a small section being
written by another. Some attribute the text to Imhotep, an architect, high pries and physician of the
Old Kingdom (3000 2500BCE). Imhotep was a famous magician but medicine was the mistress he
most zealously wooed. (Hurry 1926:23). The highest office that he held during his lifetime, was
that of vizier to the Pharoah and that title must have held him in high regards with his patients. He
moved in the highest of social circles and rendered fine service the bodies and spirits of this he
treated. It has even been said that he, Imhotep, rather than Hippocrates, is the true father of
medicine.
3. THE EBERS PAPYRUS The Ebers Papyrus (c.1550BC) is full of incantations and disgusting
applications, which are intended to turn away disease causing demons and it also includes 877
prescriptions. It may, if ancient medical terminology has been correctly interpreted, contain the
earliest account of tumors. Even though it consists of incantations, which are meant to turn away
disease causing demons, it also contains evidence of empirical practice and observation. Some

Taking a Closer Lookt at Our Auditory System Essays
Hello, again. In this section we are going to have a closer look on our auditory system, so as to
understand its basic function. Why should we learn about that? Because as listeners, we owe to
know some basic things about this magnificent human mechanism. Our auditory system is one of
our gates to the outer world. It helps us pick up sound stimuli from our environment, transduce
these stimuli into neural impulses and finally, carry these impulses to specific locations in the
brain. In fact, its basic function, if we could summarize that, is the transduction of mechanical
energy (that is, those sound vibrations in the air) into electrical energy (electrical pulses in the
brain).
Now... When we say mechanical energy we mean a sound wave ... Show more content on

This pinna is more or less oval shaped, flexible and can vary in size. Due to the fact that there are
only few muscles in the area of the external ear, humans need to turn their heads towards the
sound source location, in order to achieve a more accurate detection of the position of this sound
source. As far as the middle ear is concerned, its purpose is to transform the energy of a sound
wave into internal vibrations, which take place in the bone structure of the middle ear and
ultimately transform these vibrations into a compressional wave, which will be received by the
inner ear. The middle ear could be described as an air filled cavity that consists of the eardrum and
3 tiny interconnected bones (in fact, they re the smallest bones of our body), the well known the
hammer, anvil, and stirrup, which serve to amplify the vibrations. What actually happens there, is
that the compression of the sound wave forces the eardrum inward, while a rarefaction forces the
eardrum outward, thus vibrating the eardrum at the same frequency of the sound wave. After the
eardrum s vibrations are passed through the middle ear bones, they go on to the cochlea. Basically,
the movements of the eardrum are connected to the hammer and as a result, those movements set
the hammer, anvil and stirrup in motion, at the same frequency of the sound wave, as we said

Analysis Of Into The Wild By Christopher Krakauer
A biography is a work written about another person s life. A standard biography only discusses the
life of a single person. Krakauer s biography, Into the Wild, retains the standard convention of
describing the life story of the main person, but also include accounts of other people including
himself and slight difference on how he wrote the biography to justify Chris s choices.
Krakauer focuses his book on Christopher McCandless just like any other biography. Krakauer
tells the story of how Chris made his way and became ready for his time in Alaska to carry out his
dream. Unlike most biographies, rather than starting at the beginning of Chris s life, Krakauer
chose to start with the end. Krakauer begins with the last known events of what happened to Chris
s life. By starting with Chris s death, Krakauer adds an air of mystery that intrigues the reader. In
interesting the reader, Krakauer gets the reader to read the rest of the book to find out more of what
happened. This gives Krakauer the opportunity to defend Chris. Also, in a conventional biography,
the author tries to remain unbiased and tells what happened without trying to convince the reader
about something. In Into the Wild, Krakauer himself admits that is very biased and sympathizes
with Chris in the author s note. This means that Krakauer actively tries to convince the reader of
something about Chris and make them understand.
Krakauer diverges from standard conventions with the story Everett Ruess.

The urinary tract naturally flushes away bacteria that are present in the urethra. However, an
abundance of bacteria present can overcome the flushing power of the urinary tract and begin to
grow. There are species of non pathogenic bacteria that inhabit the urinary tract and result in no
symptoms for the individual. A problem arises when pathogenic bacteria enter the urinary tract and
are not flushed away, this results in a urinary tract infection (UTI) (Foxman and Schaeffer, 2011).
Two urine samples were tested in lab, one from a patient known to have a urinary tract infection
and the other was of the researcher s urine. These samples were plated on a MacConkey s agar
plate (which only allows for the growth of Gram negative bacteria) and on TSA plates (which
allow the growth of both Gram positive and Gram negative bacterium). Colony counts for each
plate were recorded and the number of colony forming units per millilitre (CFU/mL) was
calculated by multiplying the number of colonies by the dilution factor. A value greater than or
equal to 105 CFU/mL is indicative of a urinary tract infection (d Entremont and Maynard, 2014).
The bacterial colonies isolated during the experiment were also exposed to the Cytochrome
Oxidase test. This test reveals whether or not the bacteria produce the enzyme Cytochrome
Oxidase, this enzyme is important in the electron transport chains of aerobic bacteria. The isolated
bacterial colonies were run on an API

Benny, the War in Europe, and Myerson s

When Benny was sent overseas in the autumn of 1941 his father, Mr. Garber, thought that if he
had to give up one son to the army, it might as well be Benny who was a quiet boy, and who

Literary Criticism In Hamlet
Response Literary Criticism Hamlet on Film
1.The author s thesis was, Campbell focuses on the initiatory paradigms of universal myths and
formulates the hero s rite of passage into three major stages: separation [departure] initiation
[action] return [reflection] (Campbell 30) (Khoury 1).
2.Yvette K. Khoury did give enough convincing evidence to support her thesis. A convincing
example of this would be when she said, ... Christopher Vogler who applies Campbell s theories,
The Adventure of the Hero, to protagonists of several modem films ranging from Pulp Fiction to
Star Wars (1). This was a piece of supporting evidence because Christopher Vogler is a development
executive who makes screenwriters of several protagonists and thus, implements Campbell s
theories.
3. An example of a direct quotation used by the author would be, Olivier s Hamlet gives the
impression of going to take some action as he says, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles / And
by opposing end them (3.1.59 60) (4).
a.Is the quotation from a primary or secondary source?
The first part of the quotation (that is said by the author) is from a secondary source. The second
part of the quotation, is from a primary source (Hamlet).
b.The direct quotation is used to compare the slight differences that Olivier s version of Hamlet
(1948) had. It is used to illustrate the points that were different.
c.The author uses both, full sentences/lines of 59 60 in Act 3 Scene 1 of Hamlet.
d.The quotation is in fact, incorporated into the author s sentences, as the author gave a little bit of
background information, before introducing the quotation.
e.The parenthetical citations for Hamlet differ from those of the secondary sources because Hamlet
is a play, and thus, the parenthesis must include the act number, scene, and line number(s). Whereas
citing from a secondary source, the parenthesis must include the author s last name, and page
number(s).
4.There were some confusing parts in the essay that there should have been additional information
to fully understand. An example of this would be when the author said, Each of the four Hamlet
films considered in this paper locates its interpretation of Hamlet into a very specific historical

Is Ibct Is A Couples Therapy Approach That Helps Couples...
IBCT Model (1 pg. Lizbette) IBCT is a couples therapy approach that helps couples facing highly
distressed situations (Briggs, Finley Sprenlete,2015). IBCT stems from Behavioral Couples
Therapy (BCT); however, due to a lack of outcomes that demonstrated successful long term effects
in couples, IBCT was created (Jacobson Christensen, 1996). As stated by Jacobson and
Christensen (1996) IBCT consists of elements of emotional acceptance and tolerance to address
issues that BCT was unable to do. This was done to add a sense of sympathy and compassion to
couplesexperiences and to find solutions to help couples with their problems. According to Briggs
et al. (2015) the steps in treating couples using IBCT involve creating a treatment plan, individual
and joint sessions which occur during the first four sessions of the therapeutic process. During the
assessment session couples are asked to remember and talk about what made them fall in love and
how they met in order to find and highlight strengths the couple holds (Mairal, 2015). After the
assessment and initial phase is conducted, then treatment can begin which consist of building
intimacy, helping couples move from their stuck phase and influencing change (Briggs et al., 2015).
There are several interventions used in IBCT. One of the most important interventions is emotional
acceptance. Emotional acceptance involves empathetic joining around the problem, increase
tolerance of an aversive problem and increase self care

Summary On Allegory In Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
We are born into this good versus evil war and it s almost impossible to ever come out a winner in
it. This war dates all the way back to the beginning of time to Adam and Eve. They had one
restriction and still the temptation that overcomes us all caused their fall. Nathaniel Hawthorne
explains this theory in his Young Goodman Brown story, where evil overcomes and defeats the
good. Hawthorne does this by using these allegorical figures Young goodman Brown, Faith, and the
old unnamed man. These allegories are put in this story to represent this theory, the innocent thrown
into the good versus evil war.

As our faith is always trying keep us safe, it also is always within us if we believe. This is
demonstrated here as good tries to stay in this everlasting battle goodman Brown states With

to keep our faith it is that easy to lose it being as goodman Brown completely loses both his faith
and, Faith, when curiosity and temptation takeover and evil takes reign in this ongoing battle.
Finally, the infamous unnamed old man whose allegory represents the evil in this story Hawthorne
makes him that of the devil. The narrator introduces the old man with this staff that resembles the
one of the Adam and Eve story ... bore the likeness of a great black snake, so curiously wrought,
that it might almost be seen to twist and wriggle itself, like a living serpent (347). The devil
tempts and deceives goodman Brown throughout the story, it s safe to say that the evil here has
great powers on overcoming the innocent which he does. When goodman Brown finally gets a
peek at all the people he loves at this witchcraft meeting that the devil is leading that s when it s
over. All good is gone from goodman Brown thanks to the conniving devil and evil wins. The

Abstract Bipolar Disorder is a brain disorder and can be defined as a disorder involving periods of
incapacitating depression alternating with periods of extreme euphoria and excitement; formerly
called manic depression (Hockenbury, 2001). This disorder complicates an individual s emotions.
Bipolar Disorder causes an extreme shift in emotions followed by depression. This essay will focus

Treatment
There is no cure for Bipolar Disorder, it can only be treated. People with Bipolar Disorder can
gain better control of their emotional swings and associated symptoms by the use of continuous
treatment. Even with treatment emotional swings will continue to occur. There are several types
of medicine that can help relieve the symptoms of Bipolar Disorder. The medicines used include
mood stabilizers, atypical antipsychotics, and antidepressants. There are many types of the
medication may be tried before one is found that works best for the person. Professionals like to
use mood stabilizers and anticonvulsants to treat bipolar disorder. Lithium (also known as Eskalith
or Lithobid) is used as a mood stabilizer. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the
drug for treatment in the mid 70 s for use in fighting of both manic and depressive episodes (NIMH

Analysis Of `` Mirror `` By Sylvia Plath
Mirror by Sylvia Plath is a short lyric poem written with no rhyme scheme as it is written in free
verse. However, the poem has a nice flow to it, as the words fluctuate gracefully through each
line. Plath heavily uses imagery and symbolism in this lyric poem as this can be observed in the
first stanza. In addition to the types of literary devices Plath uses continually throughout her poem,
she also has set her poem in two locations. In the first verse, the setting is in a bathroom, one can
infer this through her use of imagery. The second known setting is a lake, but as a reader, we do
not know much about this lake. The one thing that is quite odd about this poem is the narrative, as

Which is the main struggle throughout this poem as the women cannot come to realization that her
youth and beauty is fading. The mirror does not show this mist and reveals to the women all her
blemishes and aging marks. As Plath continues her poem she still relies heavily on literary devices
such as personification to convey her poem. She starts the fourth line with the mirror expressing
how honest the reflection of the mirror may be to the viewer. However, the mirror starts to justify
the harsh reflections by saying it only portrays the truth. Plath then starts to use imagery again as
she vividly describes the room in which the mirror is hung. Although the room is cheerful as it is is
pink, with speckles the mirror experiences sadness. Since faces come in to consider the mirror and
then leave abruptly shutting the light off immersing it in darkness. In stanza two Plath now has
changed the narrator from the mirror to the lake. Since in verse ten it says Now I am a lake.
Plath uses the lake as a metaphor because the lake is still serving a purpose similar to the mirror
by reflecting images back to the observer as well. Since the woman goes to the lake and bends
over me. Searching my reaches for what she really is. The women is searching for herself, she is
attempting to learn more about herself through the reflection. The women then proceed to

Causes and Effects of Global Warming Essay
As Robert Frost once said, Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice. From what I ve

warming. Global warming can be defined as an increase in the earth s average atmospheric
temperature that causes corresponding changes in climateand that may result from the greenhouse
effect. During the past 10,000 years the earthhas been in an ever growing cycle that has significantly
changed the climate. These changes are becoming more prevalent in our world today in the past

Aerosols have two major effects on the climate. They include direct and indirect radiation. The
cooling or warming of the atmosphere due to the reflective or absorbent properties of the
particles are considered direct effects. Reflective particles cool the atmosphere by scattering
energy from the sun back into space. Absorbent particles have the opposite effect. They add to
atmospheric heating by absorbing the sun s energy. (Calipso Outreach) An indirect effect of
aerosols is their roles on cloud condensation nuclei, CCN. The use of aerosols has a huge
relationship with the amount of CCN present in a cloud. Clouds with more CCN, from the higher
use of aerosols, are larger and more reflective than those with fewer CCN (Calipso Outreach).
Since the clouds are more reflective, light is being trapped in the earth s atmosphere. Ultimately
creating the earths temperature to rise. In Calipso Outreach they explain, The particles pushed into
the atmosphere from a dust storm are made of minerals with both reflective and absorbent
properties. The ability of the particles to absorb sunlight is thought to have a net warming effect on
area of the atmosphere they occupy. The particles from the dust storm get trapped up in the earth s
atmosphere, creating almost a mirror for sunlight to be reflected by. With the more sunlight being
reflected, the hotter the temperature will be on Earth. Aerosols are a huge cause of global

Using this layout strategy will directly improve workflow by minimizing the imbalance between
machines and personnel while meeting the required output. Additionally, assembly line will put
fabricated parts together at a series of workstations to create a smooth continuing flow on the
assembly line with little idle time at each workstation. (Heizer, 2010). In order to be able to
produce at a specified rate, we must be aware of the tools, processes and equipment being used.
By inputting the information into the layout strategies method, I conclude that SSPF can eliminate

Area and Oasis Blocks
Internal Assesment Task 2C
In this experiment I am investigating the relationship between surface area and the volume of a
model cactus and to determine whether this relationship affects the loss of water.
We used oasis blocks, an absorbant material used by florists as a substitute for a cactus, that would
soak up the water, and thus ideally show the percentage water loss by weighing the before and after
evaporation weights.
Independent Variable
The independent variable is the total surface area for each size of the blocks and I think this will
affect the dependent variable as larger blocks, I hypothesize, will have less water loss by
evaporation as there is less surface area for it, as opposed to the smaller (2cm x 2cm x 2cm) ... Show

My Experience In My Summer
I can not wait to learn new things in your class this year. I am ready to read lots of new books
and some Shakespeare because I have not read a lot of his work before. I had a great summer
full of family, fun, and travel. My summer was not as interesting as your summer Mrs. Cole, but
I sure did have fun. The first trip I went on this summer was to New Orleans, which was pretty
Amazing because I got to walk down the historic streets of the world famous French Quarter. I
have not been to New Orleans since I was 4 years old with my whole family, but this time my

Overall Las Vegas was probably the best part of my summer and I am lucky to have an amazing
family to enjoy it with. Other than the two trips I went on this summer, I did not do a lot
because my parents were busy with work and my sister was busy with summer classes. I was
busy every morning for football though because we had to be at Braden River every morning at
7:30. The only good part about waking up early was that when I was done I still had most of the
day to go fishing or do anything. Workouts really help out at the beginning of the season though
because it makes us ready and strong for the whole season. Besides having football every
morning, I went fishing a lot over the summer in lakes around my neighborhood. I at least
caught around 30 bass this summer because I was mostly fishing this summer when I had
nothing else to do. The only boring thing I had to do this summer was taking drivers ed online,
so I am prepared to take my permit test when I turn 15. The whole summer was filled with fun,
but it seemed like it went by very fast. The only reason it probably went by fast was because time
flys when your having fun. With all the fun happening this year my dog probably had the least
amount of fun because while we were on vacation he was at the vet. I have a miniature
Dachshund and he is my sisters little angel because he will follow her where ever she goes. The

Importance Of Art And Education
Art is a way for me to visualise my personal ideas and express myself in a way for others to
interpret. I enjoy being able to create something from an idea, as well as exploring my
individuality and by choosing this course I will be able to refine my skills to specialise in the
areas I really enjoy. So why fine art and education together? I believe that using art within a
classroom as a teaching method is a great way to actively involve pupils, and get everybody
engaged with learning. I also see it as a way of inspiring children to do their best, and being able
to see a child overcome struggles within their education and within their personal life will be
very rewarding. I have partaken in numerous activities which demonstrate my dedication to my
subject areas, as well as ways of gaining experience and utilising my skills. For example, I have
volunteered for the NEC Skills Show with my college where I exhibited work and taught
members of the public various ways of using make up to create wounds. I have also visited
primary schools to teach them art skills and to help with painting murals of cartoon characters in
their playground. Outside of college I have tutored family friends for homework and grammar
school entrance tests. At the end of my first year at college I was chosen to have my work
exhibited in the Origins 2017 exhibition in London alongside the work of other individuals from
all over England. I have also had experience with caring for a family member during their

Coriolanus And CressidaEssay Chris Baldick defines rhetoric as the deliberate exploitation of eloquence for the most persuasive effect . This is certainly seen at work in Coriolanus and Troilus and Cressida, two Jacobean dramas with war and politics at their centre. In both plays, characters attempt to employ rhetoric as a persuasive tool for political ends. In Troilus and Cressida, Ulysses aims to use rhetoricand political machinations to mobilise a war weary army. On the other hand, Coriolanus s reluctance to use, and dislike of, rhetoric, results in further social disruption and war. Though rhetoric may be considered an unethical tool of manipulation, it is nonetheless useful for maintaining social order in these plays, where war threatens to throw society... But in the wake of a hate fueled mass murder of African Americans in Charleston, South Carolina, in June, the Confederate flag has increasingly grown out of fashion, even below the Mason Dixon line, as more and more institutions, retailers and state capitols distance themselves from a symbol that for so many symbolizes the very hatred embraced by the Dylann Roofs of the world. The Characteristics OfThe Humanist Movement In The Iliad There are many unknowns regarding who Homer was. His date of birth and death are still a mystery to modern day historians, ranging anywhere between the twelfth to eighth century BCE. As to where he was born, no one knows the exact location. Although there are many mysteries revolving around Homer s life, there is one known fact: his epics changed history forever. Homer s epics are one of the only few artifacts historians have to learn about Homer, which can reveal a lot if read carefully. After reading the Iliad, it became clear that Homer was an early Humanist, one who possibly shaped or inspired the Humanist movement in Classical Greeceduring the fifth and fourth century BCE. The Humanist movement during Classical Greece glorified the human body, which can be shown through the many sculptures and paintings created during the era. These sculptures resembled the ideal human body, the body every Greek should strive to achieve. The ideal body type was that of an athlete (PBS, 2017). There are hints of this image of the ideal body in Homer s Iliad. The section of the text that indicates that Homer can be an early humanist is when he writes, Here was the ugliest man who ever came to Troy. Bandy legged he was, with one foot clubbed, both shoulders humped together, curving over his caved in chest, and bobbing above them his skull warped to a point, sprouting clumps of scraggly, woolly hair (Homer 750 BCE, 250 255). Literary Explication OfShakespeare s Sonnet 130 Literary Explication When thinking of a love poem, one thinks of a clichГ© description of the speaker s lover or maybe is an imaginative portrayal of love in a general sense. Love poems always have an exaggerating characteristic when describing something or someone. Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare, is a parody of love poetry; love is not always like it is illustrated in others contemporaries poems. The author of this sonnet uses the traditional English sonnet form, containing fourteen lines, written in iambic pentameter, and has an ABABCDCDEFEFGG rhyme scheme. The sonnet s form is part of the parody because usually love sonnets writers use traditional sonnet forms, an example for this is Francesco Petrarch that is well known for his love sonnets written in Italian sonnet form. Shakespeare makes the contradiction between a traditional sonnet form and a non traditional content of the sonnet. The content of this sonnet, a decretory description of the speaker s lover, is very opposite to a traditional love poem s content. In the first three quatrains of Sonnet 130 , the speaker compares his mistress with various thing and tells us how she doesn t measures up to them. In the last couplet the speaker changes... By turning the theme he goes from the person who he is mocking other poets to the poet he has mocked all along. Frida Kahlo VsJacques Derrida It can be argued that Frida Kahlo is a painter that challenged the ideas pertaining to gender, race, and sexuality. She is known for questioning the essence of these identities. Kahlo famously painted depictions which show her questioning and exploring her own identity. When looking at her whole body of work, it is apparent that Kahlo was interested in gender and racial constructs. Frida Kahlos painting, Diego and Frida, 1929 1944 is one visual example of how Frida Kahlo was an artist that challenged ideas surrounding gender, race, and sexuality. This painting can be seen through the lens of deconstruction to offer a deeper insight into its meaning. Vernon Minor and Jacques Derrida are art theorists that have also speculated about deconstruction. These two both made an argument that deconstruction is made stronger when direct opposites are used.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Deconstruction at its core is an act that ask questions for the sake of asking questions. This is so because deconstruction is not about reaching a conclusion. Rather, deconstruction seeks to expand questioning in order to expand perception. Jacques Derrida points out, that there is no such thing as true deconstruction. Derrida states that every decoding is another encoding It is important to note that in so saying this, Derrida has fundamentally defining a key characteristic of decoding. There is no way to truly decode as there is always a naturally occurring need to seek to define what has been decoded. This, however, is not the goal of decoding. The true aim of decoding is to continually ask questions in order to raise new questions thus, new understanding. Diego and Frida 1929 1944 contains specific points of reference within the painting that allude to decoding. In particular, Frida Kahlo uses binary opposites as imagery in this ... Comparing Hamlet AndThe Godfather Hamlet Essay Hamlet a play written by William Shakespeare is solely revolved around the seeking justice. Hamlet is a tragic play, which involves the Prince of Denmark (Hamlet) seeking revenge for his father s death. Some attribute the text to Imhotep, an architect, high pries and physician of the Old Kingdom (3000 2500BCE). Imhotep was a famous magician but medicine was the mistress he most zealously wooed. It has even been said that he, Imhotep, rather than Hippocrates, is the true father of medicine. 3. Taking a CloserLookt at Our Auditory System Essays Hello, again. In this section we are going to have a closer look on our auditory system, so as to understand its basic function. Why should we learn about that? Because as listeners, we owe to know some basic things about this magnificent human mechanism. Our auditory system is one of our gates to the outer world. It helps us pick up sound stimuli from our environment, transduce these stimuli into neural impulses and finally, carry these impulses to specific locations in the brain. In fact, its basic function, if we could summarize that, is the transduction of mechanical energy (that is, those sound vibrations in the air) into electrical energy (electrical pulses in the brain). Now... When we say mechanical energy we mean a sound wave ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This pinna is more or less oval shaped, flexible and can vary in size. Due to the fact that there are only few muscles in the area of the external ear, humans need to turn their heads towards the sound source location, in order to achieve a more accurate detection of the position of this sound source. As far as the middle ear is concerned, its purpose is to transform the energy of a sound wave into internal vibrations, which take place in the bone structure of the middle ear and ultimately transform these vibrations into a compressional wave, which will be received by the inner ear. The middle ear could be described as an air filled cavity that consists of the eardrum and 3 tiny interconnected bones (in fact, they re the smallest bones of our body), the well known the hammer, anvil, and stirrup, which serve to amplify the vibrations. What actually happens there, is that the compression of the sound wave forces the eardrum inward, while a rarefaction forces the eardrum outward, thus vibrating the eardrum at the same frequency of the sound wave. After the eardrum s vibrations are passed through the middle ear bones, they go on to the cochlea. Basically, the movements of the eardrum are connected to the hammer and as a result, those movements set the hammer, anvil and stirrup in motion, at the same frequency of the sound wave, as we said ... Analysis Of IntoThe Wild By Christopher Krakauer A biography is a work written about another person s life. A standard biography only discusses the life of a single person. Krakauer s biography, Into the Wild, retains the standard convention of describing the life story of the main person, but also include accounts of other people including himself and slight difference on how he wrote the biography to justify Chris s choices. Krakauer focuses his book on Christopher McCandless just like any other biography. Krakauer tells the story of how Chris made his way and became ready for his time in Alaska to carry out his dream. Unlike most biographies, rather than starting at the beginning of Chris s life, Krakauer chose to start with the end. Krakauer begins with the last known events of what happened to Chris s life. By starting with Chris s death, Krakauer adds an air of mystery that intrigues the reader. In interesting the reader, Krakauer gets the reader to read the rest of the book to find out more of what happened. This gives Krakauer the opportunity to defend Chris. Also, in a conventional biography, the author tries to remain unbiased and tells what happened without trying to convince the reader about something. In Into the Wild, Krakauer himself admits that is very biased and sympathizes with Chris in the author s note. This means that Krakauer actively tries to convince the reader of something about Chris and make them understand. Krakauer diverges from standard conventions with the story Everett Ruess. ... However, an abundance of bacteria present can overcome the flushing power of the urinary tract and begin to grow. There are species of non pathogenic bacteria that inhabit the urinary tract and result in no symptoms for the individual. A problem arises when pathogenic bacteria enter the urinary tract and are not flushed away, this results in a urinary tract infection (UTI) (Foxman and Schaeffer, 2011). Two urine samples were tested in lab, one from a patient known to have a urinary tract infection and the other was of the researcher s urine. These samples were plated on a MacConkey s agar plate (which only allows for the growth of Gram negative bacteria) and on TSA plates (which allow the growth of both Gram positive and Gram negative bacterium). Colony counts for each plate were recorded and the number of colony forming units per millilitre (CFU/mL) was calculated by multiplying the number of colonies by the dilution factor. Literary Criticism InHamlet Response Literary Criticism Hamlet on Film 1.The author s thesis was, Campbell focuses on the initiatory paradigms of universal myths and formulates the hero s rite of passage into three major stages: separation [departure] initiation [action] return [reflection] (Campbell 30) (Khoury 1). 2.Yvette K. Khoury did give enough convincing evidence to support her thesis. A convincing example of this would be when she said, ... Christopher Vogler who applies Campbell s theories, The Adventure of the Hero, to protagonists of several modem films ranging from Pulp Fiction to Star Wars (1). This was a piece of supporting evidence because Christopher Vogler is a development executive who makes screenwriters of several protagonists and thus, implements Campbell s theories. 3. An example of a direct quotation used by the author would be, Olivier s Hamlet gives the impression of going to take some action as he says, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles / And by opposing end them (3.1.59 60) (4). a.Is the quotation from a primary or secondary source? The first part of the quotation (that is said by the author) is from a secondary source. The second part of the quotation, is from a primary source (Hamlet). b.The direct quotation is used to compare the slight differences that Olivier s version of Hamlet (1948) had. It is used to illustrate the points that were different. c.The author uses both, full sentences/lines of 59 60 in Act 3 Scene 1 of Hamlet. d.The quotation is in fact, incorporated into the author s sentences, as the author gave a little bit of background information, before introducing the quotation. e.The parenthetical citations for Hamlet differ from those of the secondary sources because Hamlet is a play, and thus, the parenthesis must include the act number, scene, and line number(s). Whereas citing from a secondary source, the parenthesis must include the author s last name, and page number(s). 4.There were some confusing parts in the essay that there should have been additional information to fully understand. Is Ibct IsA Couples Therapy Approach That Helps Couples... IBCT Model (1 pg. Lizbette) IBCT is a couples therapy approach that helps couples facing highly distressed situations (Briggs, Finley Sprenlete,2015). IBCT stems from Behavioral Couples Therapy (BCT); however, due to a lack of outcomes that demonstrated successful long term effects in couples, IBCT was created (Jacobson Christensen, 1996). As stated by Jacobson and Christensen (1996) IBCT consists of elements of emotional acceptance and tolerance to address issues that BCT was unable to do. This was done to add a sense of sympathy and compassion to couplesexperiences and to find solutions to help couples with their problems. According to Briggs et al. (2015) the steps in treating couples using IBCT involve creating a treatment plan, individual and joint sessions which occur during the first four sessions of the therapeutic process. During the assessment session couples are asked to remember and talk about what made them fall in love and how they met in order to find and highlight strengths the couple holds (Mairal, 2015). After the assessment and initial phase is conducted, then treatment can begin which consist of building intimacy, helping couples move from their stuck phase and influencing change (Briggs et al., 2015). There are several interventions used in IBCT. One of the most important interventions is emotional acceptance. Emotional acceptance involves empathetic joining around the problem, increase tolerance of an aversive problem and increase self care ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hawthorne does this by using these allegorical figures Young goodman Brown, Faith, and the old unnamed man. Analysis Of ``Mirror `` By Sylvia Plath Mirror by Sylvia Plath is a short lyric poem written with no rhyme scheme as it is written in free verse. However, the poem has a nice flow to it, as the words fluctuate gracefully through each line. Plath heavily uses imagery and symbolism in this lyric poem as this can be observed in the first stanza. In addition to the types of literary devices Plath uses continually throughout her poem, she also has set her poem in two locations. In the first verse, the setting is in a bathroom, one can infer this through her use of imagery. The second known setting is a lake, but as a reader, we do not know much about this lake. She starts the fourth line with the mirror expressing how honest the reflection of the mirror may be to the viewer. However, the mirror starts to justify the harsh reflections by saying it only portrays the truth. Plath then starts to use imagery again as she vividly describes the room in which the mirror is hung. Although the room is cheerful as it is is pink, with speckles the mirror experiences sadness. Since faces come in to consider the mirror and then leave abruptly shutting the light off immersing it in darkness. In stanza two Plath now has changed the narrator from the mirror to the lake. Aerosols have two major effects on the climate. They include direct and indirect radiation. The cooling or warming of the atmosphere due to the reflective or absorbent properties of the particles are considered direct effects. Reflective particles cool the atmosphere by scattering energy from the sun back into space. Absorbent particles have the opposite effect. They add to atmospheric heating by absorbing the sun s energy. (Calipso Outreach) An indirect effect of aerosols is their roles on cloud condensation nuclei, CCN. The use of aerosols has a huge relationship with the amount of CCN present in a cloud. Clouds with more CCN, from the higher use of aerosols, are larger and more reflective than those with fewer CCN (Calipso Outreach). Since the clouds are more reflective, light is being trapped in the earth s atmosphere. Ultimately creating the earths temperature to rise. It can be seen from my results that, apart from the anomaly of the second point, which could have occurred for a number of reasons (see Evaluation), that the surface area does affect the percentage loss of water. My results could be more reliable if the tests were repeated and errors were analyzed after each experiment, however I believe that it is shown in my graph that the relationship between the dependent and independent variable is obvious. Evaluation My conclusion, based on my graph, cannot be entirely correct, as my results were anomalous due to a number of interferences with this experiment. Firstly, I think that by doing this ... Like how both characters grew up, the people that help them through all of the bullying, and the end result of it all. Peter Houghton grew up with a golden boy brother, who was also one of his bullies until his death the previous year before the shooting and always made him feel unimportant in his own home. His parents weren t very helpful when Peter was getting bullied. Even from a young age Peter s mom wanted him to be strong about it and deal with the bullying rather than actually help him through it. He also had a best friend Josie Cormier, a best friend who used to defend from the bullies until she decided to leave him for the popular crowd in sixth grade. So after so many years and years of bullying, with no support from his family and due to the fact that he only had one friend who was also being bullied, Peter took it into his own hands to end the harassment and he went into his school and enacted his revenge. Unlike Peter, Jodee grew up as an only child in a loving supportive family. She had friends the moment she was in school, she wasn t popular but she had friends. She never had a constant friend that always defended her and was always there for her. Her parents were supportive of her when she told them about the bullying, even if she may not of liked their methods of helping her which was her going to the therapists, they were still supportive. My Experience InMy Summer I can not wait to learn new things in your class this year. I am ready to read lots of new books and some Shakespeare because I have not read a lot of his work before. I had a great summer full of family, fun, and travel. My summer was not as interesting as your summer Mrs. Cole, but I sure did have fun. The first trip I went on this summer was to New Orleans, which was pretty Amazing because I got to walk down the historic streets of the world famous French Quarter. I have not been to New Orleans since I was 4 years old with my whole family, but this time my parents and I were the only ones who went. On the first day we went to CafГ© Du Monde, which is an original French market stand that has been around since 1862. The best part of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall Las Vegas was probably the best part of my summer and I am lucky to have an amazing family to enjoy it with. Other than the two trips I went on this summer, I did not do a lot because my parents were busy with work and my sister was busy with summer classes. I was busy every morning for football though because we had to be at Braden River every morning at 7:30. The only good part about waking up early was that when I was done I still had most of the day to go fishing or do anything. Workouts really help out at the beginning of the season though because it makes us ready and strong for the whole season. Besides having football every morning, I went fishing a lot over the summer in lakes around my neighborhood. I at least caught around 30 bass this summer because I was mostly fishing this summer when I had nothing else to do. The only boring thing I had to do this summer was taking drivers ed online, so I am prepared to take my permit test when I turn 15. The whole summer was filled with fun, but it seemed like it went by very fast. The only reason it probably went by fast was because time flys when your having fun. With all the fun happening this year my dog probably had the least amount of fun because while we were on vacation he was at the vet. I have a miniature Dachshund and he is my sisters little angel because he will follow her where ever she goes. The worst part about the end of summer is that my sister Kiana has to go back to ... Importance Of ArtAnd Education Art is a way for me to visualise my personal ideas and express myself in a way for others to interpret. I enjoy being able to create something from an idea, as well as exploring my individuality and by choosing this course I will be able to refine my skills to specialise in the areas I really enjoy. So why fine art and education together? I believe that using art within a classroom as a teaching method is a great way to actively involve pupils, and get everybody engaged with learning. I also see it as a way of inspiring children to do their best, and being able to see a child overcome struggles within their education and within their personal life will be very rewarding. I have partaken in numerous activities which demonstrate my dedication to my subject areas, as well as ways of gaining experience and utilising my skills. For example, I have volunteered for the NEC Skills Show with my college where I exhibited work and taught members of the public various ways of using make up to create wounds. I have also visited primary schools to teach them art skills and to help with painting murals of cartoon characters in their playground. Outside of college I have tutored family friends for homework and grammar school entrance tests. At the end of my first year at college I was chosen to have my work exhibited in the Origins 2017 exhibition in London alongside the work of other individuals from all over England. I have also had experience with caring for a family member during their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
