Summary. Maintenance Decision Is Typically Made Based On
SUMMARY
Maintenance decision is typically made based on tool condition change/degradation. However, the
change does not necessarily lead to poor quality of the product. Change based maintenance decision
making may lead to over maintenance. This report focuses on develop prognosis for maintenance
scheduling model. We first study current maintenance situation in Samsung semiconductor system,
follow by that, generating data to illustrate the decision making process according to a potential
optimization model that accommodates with productivity and preventive maintenance task scheduling
in the report.

Except these tools, normal PMs are based on CBM strategy. Although it is very important to
determine how often PM should be done, the decision making process for PM cycle is still rely on
engineering experience. As shown in figure 1, the decision flow of PM cycle for the tool has two
phases, and are connected by extension test. Phase I is determined by the supplier with their
guaranteed PM cycle. Once the guaranteed is expired, extension test will be applied to the stabilized
tool, and followed by a successful extension test, the PM cycle will go to Phase II period. Figure 1
Decision flow of PM cycle in different period
PM Cycle Extension Test
When the tool is brought in for the first time, the supplier will suggest a determined PM cycle. Each
tool will have one to three year s warranty, which is offered by that supplier. After that, the PM cycle
will be re determined according to the cleaning, repair and replacement cycle of the parts that are
conducting to the tool. For the stabilized tool, its period is extended by using the evaluation test of PM
cycle extension.
The evaluation test for extension is an engineering determination process, in which case that engineers
will try to extend the PM cycle longer than present by experiment. For example, in the TBM case, for
a monthly PM routine tool, the engineer will extent it s PM cycle to bi monthly for one certain tool. If

Adorno And Allum Similarities And Differences
Outline the similarities and differences between the research studies of Adorno et al. (1950) and Allum
(2011) on personality types
Allum s research revealed correlations to Adorno s personality scales, rationalizing three hypothesized
studies. Allum (2011), cited in McAvoy (2017), (pp. 33 38), studies included pseudoscience ideologies
such as Astrology to foretell events in individual s life, as well lack scientific literacy from participants
of how Astrology and Astronomy were etymologically classified. Allum similarly supported Adorno s
notion that people with authoritarian personalities were more likely to believe in superstition and
pseudo sciences such as astrology, however, Allum contrasting Adorno et al. s authoritarian
personality type analysis, questioned the inclination of this study s sample, assuming a more
generalized view among populations, Allum (2011), (p. 362). Adorno leaned heavily upon Freud,
using a systematic formula to directly observe measurable aspects of personality, exploring latent
fascist predisposition to prejudice theorizing the structure of personality research, Adorno (1950), (p.
53). To further interpret Freudian similarities in both researcher s work, in this essay, the reader will
notice Adorno and Allum put in question the forces of personality; its processes, how they were
organized, and similar report methods used. The forces of personality are primarily needs, (drives,
wishes, emotional impulses), which varied from one

Effects of Temperature, pH, Enzyme Concentration, and Substrate Concentration on Enzymatic
Activity
INTRODUCTION
Enzymes, proteins that act as catalysts, are the most important type of protein[1]. Catalysts speed up
chemical reactions and can go without being used up or changed [3] Without enzymes, the
biochemical reactions that take place will react too slowly to keep up with the metabolic needs and the
life functions of organisms. Catecholase is a reaction between oxygen and catechol [2]. In the
presence of oxygen, the removal of two hydrogen atoms oxidizes the compound catechol, as a result
of the formation of water [2]. Oxygen is reduced by the addition of two hydrogen atoms, which also
forms water, after catechol is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hypothesis is as the substrate concentration has an increase so will the reaction of velocity if the
amount of enzyme is kept constant.
MATERIALS AND METHODS To study the effects of temperature, pH, enzyme concentration, and
substrate concentration there were certain steps that were followed in order to conduct this
experiment. Each factor had a separate procedure to follow to find how each had a different effect on
the enzyme.
To find the effect of temperature on the activity of an enzyme, the experiment deals with the steps as
follows. First, 3 mL if pH 7 phosphate buffer was used to fill three different test tubes that were
labeled 10, 24, and 50. These three test tubes were set in three different temperature settings. The first
test tube was placed in an ice water bath for ten minutes until it reached a temperature of 2° C or less.
The second tube s temperature setting was at room temperature until a temperature of 21°C was
reached. The third tube was placed in a beaker of warm water until the contents of the beaker reached
a temperature setting of 60° C. There were four more test tubes that were included in the procedure.
Two of the test tubes contained potato juice were one was put in ice and the other was placed in warm
water. The other two test tubes contained catechol. One test tube was put in ice and the other in warm
water. After

An Analysis of The Story of Rahab Essay
An Analysis of The Story of Rahab
The main point of the story of Rahab is that God rewards people, regardless of their station or past
sins, who put their faith in Him.
The story of Rahab begins when Joshua, after receiving God s command to enter into the Promised
Land, sends two spies into Jericho and the surrounding areas to view the land (Joshua 2:1). The two
spies are discovered in Jericho as they enter Rahab s harlot house. The king of Jericho, being alerted to
their presence, sends for the spies. Rahab hides the two spies on her roof under some flax and sends
the guards out of the city on a wild goose chase. Rahab then tells the spies that everyone in the land is
afraid of their power and that she knows that their God is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jericho was a pagan city so Rahab probably had a lot of business. Notice that she owned and operated
the brothel. Rahab was a successful business woman. She took charge of situations and was able to
make fast, smart decisions. When the guards came to her house she quickly hid the spies on her roof
and made up a clever story to not only throw the search party off but to get them out of Jericho for
three days. Rahab saw a perfect opportunity to save herself from the impending doom and because of
her intelligent and bold actions she was able to take advantage of it. One might even suspect her of
informing the king of the spy s presence.
Rahab s relationship to the spies throughout the story also shows an element of her nature. From the
moment that the spies enter her house and are found out, Rahab has the upper hand in the relationship.
The spies need Rahab to help them. She uses their dependence on her protection and her familiarity
with the city to her advantage. Rahab is a survivor. She looks out for her own skin. The truth of her
supposed religious devotion to the God of the Israelites is questionable. But true or not she had no
problem using that to help her family. Rahab was loyal to her family and would do anything to ensure
her family s safety.
Rahab s dialogue also shows her intelligence. Her talk with the spies reads like a man speaking. Rahab

Paolaemonetes Vulgaris Case Study
Fort DeSoto Park is a protected marine environment that is next to Eckerd College, an unprotected
marine environment in Boca Ciega Bay. Palaemonetes vulgaris (common name grass shrimp) is an
invertebrate that is native to both areas. The comparison that is to be made is the average total length
of Palaemonetes vulgaris between these two environments. The alternate hypothesis is because of
human interaction occurring in the waters of unprotected areas, the Palaemonetes vulgaris will have a
shorter average total length there. The null hypothesis is there is no difference in the size of
Palaemonetes vulgaris growing in the protected vs. unprotected areas, because predators will eat all
the shrimp in both areas causing them to have the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The protected areas of Fort DeSoto will have larger specimens than the unprotected areas of Eckerd
College, because of the protection rights that Fort DeSoto has in place. Where Eckerd College is not a
protected environment the Palaemonetes vulgaris are open to over fishing areas. The results could
have different outcomes based on a change in locations where the Palaemonetes vulgaris were
sampled. Based on the results, the null hypothesis is rejected because the Palaemonetes vulgaris in
Fort DeSoto are of greater average total length (mm) than in Boca Ciega Bay at Eckerd College.
Based on the results, the alternate hypothesis is accepted, because of human interactions at Eckerd
College, the Palaemonetes vulgaris have shorter average total length (mm) than Fort DeSoto. By using
Fort DeSoto s data from 2012 (5 years ago from today, 2017) the results may have changed
dramatically in the size and quantity of the Palaemonetes vulgaris. Knowing the correct formulas and
not miss keying the information being entered in to the Excel spreadsheet will affect the out coming

Compassion In The Man At The River By Dave Eggers
The textbook definition of compassion is, the sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or
misfortunes of others. (google) However, the word compassion can be described in a variety of
different ways. Many authors thread the concept of compassion throughout their stories. It builds the
story line and develops characters. In The Man at the River, by Dave Eggers, it can be argued that the
American man s Sudanese friends were not being compassionate. In the story, a Sudanese man wanted
his American friend to cross the river with him. But the American man had a deep cut on his leg that
would have come in contact with the river water. The Sudanese friend tried to coax him across the
river, but the American man refused. He did not know

Essay on The Use of Force, by William Carlos Williams
The Use of Force is a short story by William Carlos Williams that is very powerful and leaves the
readers with an ethical dilemma. The following social issues can be debated on it: Can physical for
good purpose be justified?, What compels the use of force isn t simply altruism, difference of two
separating two different tasks, a dark side persists in every individual, parents concern for their
children, use of force as sympathy care for a patient.
The greatest question the story presents is if using force for a good cause is justified. William Carlos
was a doctor in real life and so the story presents a situation that can be looked by a different
perspective by different individuals. The story shows a combat between the doctor and the ... Show

Their comments only serve to do nothing but hamper the doctor from doing what he is required to do.
This is well portrayed by their comments, which also reveal the speakers internal thoughts about the
couple. For instance, the mother says, do you think she can stand it, doctor? (Williams, 1984) in this
sentence, the writer demonstrates the use of logos while trying to appeal to the reader how nagging the
parents were.
From the story, William depicts the difficulties that people have towards separating their emotions and
standards. The doctor s behavior towards the girl and the young patient s reaction emphasizes the
subject of this discussion. However, the use of ethos, the narrator portrays his character as a credible
doctor in the story. The character of both the patient and the doctor reveal a plausible issue comparable
in real life. During this period there is and epidemic of diphtheria, which worsens the situation forcing
the doctor to take aggressive measures in treating his patient. Revealed through his words, the doctor
first tries kindness; Awe, come on, I coaxed, just open your mouth wide and let me take a look.
(Williams, 1984) However, the reaction from the girl is repulsive, forcing the doctor to be firm. The
young girl s character shows the conflict of her role as a patient and that of her personality. This is
revealed by the fact the she is spoiled and

Tomorrow When The War Began John Marsden
Introduction: Being human is given. But keeping our humanity is a choice (unknown). The novel

Polycystic Kidney Disease Analysis
Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a disorder in which clusters of cysts develop primarily within your
kidneys. Cysts are noncancerous round sacs that vary in size containing water like fluid (Igarashi,
2002). This can be associated with a number of conditions, including: High blood pressure, Urinary
and kidney infections, Kidney stones, and Kidney failure (Audrézet, 2012). Furthermore, Kidney
failure resulting from PKD is caused by a combination of Pressure from expanding cysts, compressing
normal kidney tissue or scarring in the normal support tissue in the kidney (Audrézet, 2012). PKD can
occur in two ways, one through spontaneous gene mutation and the other way is through inheriting the

Mutation PKD1 is located on chromosome 16 specifically 16p13.3 and mutation PKD2 is located on
chromosome 4 in the vicinity of 4q21 23 (Grantham, 2008). In addition, the PKD1 is very large
compared to PKD2, it encodes for a 14.1 kb mRNA transcript that is translated into a protein
composed of 4302 amino acids (Igarashi, 2002), whereas PKD2 encodes a 5.3 kb mRNA transcript
that is translated into a 968 amino acid protein (Igarashi, 2002). ADPKD follows a dominant
inheritance. This means that if either the mother or father has ADPKD, the offspring will have a 50%
chance of inheriting ADPKD (Grantham, 2008). If the gene for ADPKD is not passed on, the offspring
will neither inherit the disease, nor be able to pass on the disease to future offspring (Grantham, 2008).
Ways to develop ARPKD require each parent to be a carrier of at least one defective copy of the
disease gene; in this case, there is a 25% chance of having the disease. If only one parent carries the
defective gene, the offspring will not inherit the disease (Igarashi, 2002). In Mary s case, the pedigree
resembles an Autosomal Dominant PKD pattern, due to the high frequency of complications

The Global Distribution And Balance Of Power
Polarity
Every country differs in economic wealth, military might and political power. As one will soon see,
this is not a universally agreeable proposition, but the United States is observed by some as the world
s sole superpower since the conclusion of the Cold War. Below, there will be an exploration of the
literature on the global distribution and balance of power. Then, there will be an examination of the
most stable global distribution. Additionally, the United States ideal strategy to keep its military
superiority will be examined.

the world s sole superpower. Militaristic option to try to balance the United States seems to be off ...

Pape blames President George W. Bush s unilateral action in several fronts for making it possible for
other nations to balance the United States. The United States did not face balancing because of
America s reputation of being a team player in the world stage. Per Pape that reputation no longer
exists. As a matter of a fact, Pape believes that soft balancing is currently in the works and as an
evidence for his hypothesis, he mentioned the Iraq war and the resistance of some of our supposedly
staunchest allies such as France to essentially not go along with the United States plan at least initially.
There is a very legitimate fear that unless the United States changes its unilateralism, soft balancing
will continue to occur. (Pape, 2005)
Stephen M. Walt believes that although the United States is still strong, our influence over the world
has declined. Mr. Walt predicted China will be the largest economy by 2025. One could argue this has
already happened in terms of GDP. Countries such as India, Turkey, and Brazil are not yet ready to
challenge the United States economically, but, within their own geographical region, they are
becoming regional powers. Mr. Walt conceded that the United States will still be the most powerful
country in the world, but the world will be a bipolar system, adding China as the other superpower in
addition to the United States or perhaps the world will become a multipolar system with an

Analytics In Basketball
There is a field in the sport of basketball that is growing at a rapid pace. That field is called analytics.
Nearly every team in the NBA now has an analytics department. However, it is important to fully
understand analytics before applying that knowledge to the sport of basketball. Analytics is the
discovery and communication of meaningful patterns in data (Stolbunov 1). Analytics being used in
sports is simply called sports analytics. Even though analytics has its flaws, it has had a major impact
on team building in basketball using statistics like player efficiency rating and effective field goal
percentage. There are many important statistics used in analytics, but a couple are used to very great
effect. One of the most important statistics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In baseball, the book Moneyball revolutionized the way that the whole sport looked at analytics.
Basketball has a comparable situation. The book Basketball on Paper dives into the numbers behind
the sport (Haefner 10). In this book, author Dean Oliver states there are four main statistics to tell
which team will win, and also states of how much importance these statistics are. He says that a team s
shooting is forty percent of winning, turnovers are twenty five percent, rebounding is twenty percent,
and and free throws are fifteen percent (Haefner 11). One of the fathers of analytics in basketball
claims that shooting is far and away the most important statistic in the game. However, in order to
know how a team is performing in this category, the team must be compared against other teams.
Doing this is extremely easy. If comparing two teams playing each other, the opposing team s
effective field goal percentage is simply subtracted from the team being observed (Haefner 15). A
golden example of the utility of effective field goal percentage is the Golden State Warriors. This team
has broken records for three pointers made, and recently won seventy three games in a single season.
The Warriors have an advantage on almost every other team in the NBA because of the vast amount of
three pointers that they take (Dizikes 2). The ease with which effective field goal percentage can be
used and its direct correlation to which team wins the game makes it possibly the most useful statistic
in the game of basketball. However, while shooting does have a direct correlation for team
performance, it does not always have a major impact on how a single player

around 200 years starting in 1325, the Templo Mayor was reconstructed seven times due to new

Tonacatepetl and Hill of Coatepec. Tonacatepetl or Hill of Sustenance s main deity was Tlaloc (god of
fertility and water). The Hill of Coatepec was the birthplace of Huitzilopochtli. This is important, as
Huitzilopochtli was the Aztec god of war, sun and most importantly human sacrifice; he was also
patron of Tenochtitlan. The combination of these gods on Templo Mayor represents atl tlachinolli

of these temples had structures atop of each pyramid showing images of the two gods, accessed by
balustrades with carved serpents at their base. These statues and pyramids show us that religion played

Graduating High School Life Analysis
Coming from a family of six, I was the first to graduate high school. Within my immediate family,
graduating from high school was viewed as a choice, not a priority. They all started a family early,
dropped out of school, and struggled through day to day life. Still, I did learn the value of working
hard for what my family needed. Another value that became introduced was to constantly want more
and never settle for what life hands out. Once I understood the military was an option after high
school, it became a goal. That being the moment, graduating high school became a priority in my
eyes. With hard work and goals set, I became the first in my family to graduate high school. Growing
up from a family that always supported the military I assured myself of what my future career would
be. My grandfather and uncle joined the military straight from high school. The observable

Childhood Separation Anxiety Disorder Among Adults With...
The journal article Childhood Separation Anxiety Disorder in Patients With Adult Anxiety Disorders
focuses on the prevalence of childhood separation anxiety disorder (CSA) in adults with one or more
anxiety disorder, and whether or not there is a correlation between them. The authors clearly included
their hypothesis, which states they presume there to be higher rates of childhood separation anxiety
disorder among patients with various adult anxiety disorders than in adults with only one adult anxiety
disorder. In addition, the authors included the operational definitions of comorbid anxiety disorders
and childhood separation anxiety disorder. They defined comorbid anxiety disorders as having more
than two lifetime adult anxiety disorders. The authors were more specific when clarifying CSA, which
they defined as being diagnosed with excessive anxiety regarding the separation of those whom the
child is emotionally attached to, as well as experiencing three of the nine symptoms listed in the
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders for at least two weeks.
The purpose of the study, according to the authors, is to further specify research already done on the
correlation between childhood separation anxiety disorder and adult anxiety disorders, and to explore
the possible relationship between other adult anxiety disorders and childhood separation anxiety. This
research is practically important because parents whose children are diagnosed with childhood

American Art Observation
For this observation, I went to the American Art section on the first floor of the Philadelphia Museum
of Art. When you first walk into the exhibition you see a bunch of glass showcases and to the right
was a whole hallway and section designated to Thomas Eakins. The Thomas Eakins section is rather
large so I ventured there first. All of his pieces are so well done and lifelike. Although, there was so
much to pick from, I found a small brown set of five figures in a glass case the most interesting. Each
one is only the size of my hand. They are intriguing because not only are they in a well lit big glass

Eakins art historical significance is rooted in his identity as a studious realist whose painting draws its
force from extensive scientific research into anatomy, perspective, reflection and motion (Leja 479).
Pieces such as his anatomical bronze casts of the human foot and knee showed his appreciation for

different points of view and to test light and shadow ( Philadelphia Museum of Art: Handbook of the

than the other and thus more cheaply. (Schuhmachers, 2012) In this case, both countries will

This means it does not matter if country A can produce more overall than country B, as long as B can
produce it more efficiently than country A. Country B will choose to produce that product and then
trade it with country A. When a country focuses on a good that it is efficient in producing for a lower
price then they increase national income and company s increase profits. An example of comparative
advantage: Country A can produce 28 bikes and 4 radios, Country B can produce 32 bikes and 12
radios. Country B has an absolute advantage in both products but it has a comparative advantage
specifically in radios because it can efficiently produce 3 times more for less than Country A
(Economics Online, 2017.)
Both theories have the positive effect of making economies that trade grow. Trade makes a price range
below the local price possible. Furthermore, the exporting country can produce more and the
importing country can use its resources on other products in which it is better at producing. However,
because trade prices of foreign goods are lower local goods will experience lower demand. This is one
of the reasons for a trade restriction the government of a country will help maintain local businesses.
Factor Proportion theory was originally created by two Swedish economists. According to this theory,
one condition for trade is that countries differ with respect to the availability of the factors of
production. They

Ambiguity In Emily Bronte s Remembrance
In the poem Remembrance, Emily Bronte writes about a person who mourns the death of a loved one.
Since no names are explicitly given, however, ambiguity surrounds the identity of the speaker and
loved one. One interpretation is that the persona is Bronte herself, having lost her mother and sisters at
a young age. Another interpretation is that the persona is simply a figure through which Bronte
expresses the general experiences of love, loss, and memory. However, after reading the poem, it is
hard to imagine someone crafting such a powerful piece without having personally experienced
something similar. Nevertheless, throughout the poem, the speaker experiences tension between
letting go of and holding onto memories of the past, as shown through ... Show more content on

In the first half of the poem, the speaker mainly seems to be in mourning. However, in the sixth
stanza, the speaker suddenly shifts her tone, focusing on how she has grown from the painful
experience. In fact, the speaker claims to have learned to appreciate life without the aid of joy (24),
which suggests a greater will to live and be present mentally and physically. Despite her claims,
however, in the final stanza, the speaker acknowledges the rapturous pain of remembering and ends
the poem with a rhetorical question: How could I seek the empty world again? (32). This question
seems to resolve the tension between forgetting and remembering by insinuating that she would rather
live with the memories of the past, where she finds

Macromolecules Lab Report
Macromolecules are large numbers of atoms. In this lab there were three major macromolecules which
were sugar, starch and fats which were all tested and studied. There was also the subunit of
carbohydrate which was sugar what was also tested in the lab. The subunits of of the three major
macromolecules were amino acids which makes up the macromolecule of protein there was also
glucose which is the subunit of the macromolecule starch the final subunit was the fatty acids which
make up the macromolecule of lipids or fats. There were a variety of food solutions that were tested

Should Sugary Sweetened Beverage
Sugary Sweetened Beverage Tax
All across the country, health advocates are battling to put a cap on sugary sweetened beverages. One
of their biggest lines of attack is a new tax on all sugar sweetened beverages. Advocates argue that
these sugary drinks are a major contributor to health issues such as obesity and diabetes (Wood 1).
Some researchers even argue that these sugar sweetened beverages (SSB) are the single largest
contributor of increasing obesity rates in the United States, leading to public health advocates and
researchers to search for effective solutions to reduce the consumption of sugary drinks (Niederdeppe
1). These health problems are driving up health care cost. Advocates around the nation propose that
these drinks should carry a higher tax to reduce their consumption and help cover medical cost caused
by them. However, SSB companies are fighting back against the newly proposed taxes. They feel that
their products are being unfairly singled out. Other critics argue that a tax will not reduce the
consumption of the sugary beverages and will be a waste of money (Wood 2). Nevertheless, the ...

A major argument is that taxes on sugary beverages are regressive and would hurt the low income, but
obesity and diabetes are highly regressive diseases (Wood 3). Furthermore, the revenue from soda
taxes could be used to help those most in need by subsidizing the costs of foods like fruits and
vegetables. Tax opponents also argue a black market will develop in sodas if we pass high taxes. The
same argument could also be made about tobacco taxes. However, tobacco taxes have been massively
successful, even if some illicit sales occur. Tobacco and alcohol taxes are now common and are
considered a permanent part of the public health and economic picture. A sugary sweetened beverage
tax should follow the same course and provide considerable benefit in the United States and their state

The Role Of The French Revolution In Modern Day Europe
Modern day Europe owes much of its concepts from the the French Revolution that started in 1789. At
that time Europe was ruled by absolute monarchies, the clergy and the aristocracy, and the rural class
was greatly suffering from over taxation and social injustice. The French Revolution was a crucial
turning point in european history, both politically and economically and set France on a different path
from the rest of Europe. Politically, the french revolution allowed the absolute monarchy to be
replaced by a republic while the Estates general was replaced by the National Assembly.
Economically, the french revolution helped solidify the french economy through nationalizing the
church lands and issuing assignats instead of paper money and left France stable for the years to come.
During the Old Regime, France was ruled by Louis XVI under an absolute monarchy where the
population was divided into three estates. The first was composed of the clergy, the second of the
aristocracy and the third of the peasants. Each estate had one vote to cast for each decision and the
clergy and the aristocracy would always outvote the third estate when it came to protecting their rights
and the third estate would never benefit from this voting system. The third estate became the National
Constituents Assembly in hopes of reforming the voting system. The ... Show more content on

The And Social Context Of Europe During A Post World War...
What is the role of consumerism in The Visit?
This piece is a direct examination of consumerism. On a broader scheme, The Visit surveys the social
context of Europe in a Post World War II environment. Like many play writers, Durrenmatt
demonstrates that his play, like all cultural manifestations, is a product of the socioeconomic and
hence ideological conditions of the time and place in which it was written, whether or not the author
intended it so. Because human beings are themselves products of their socioeconomic and ideological
environment, it is assumed that authors cannot help but create works that embody ideology of some
form. (Tyson 66). The consequential setting was one of reconstruction of the nation state through

This encircling social framework of materialism and yield is insightful of the drama s thematic
significance. It is also demonstrative of the perspective that administrates the development and
expansion of all cultures and the persons within it. The townspeople slowly begin to accept the idea of
consumerism and are depicted wearing new shoes. The possibility of so much capital seduces the
town people into procuring services via credit, overlooking the penalties that may follow. Claire
knows that, eventually, the townspeople will advance her plan for vengeance because of their present
economic crisis and their desire for wealth.
Who is commodified and how?
Commodify can be defined as the ability to treat something that cannot be owned or that everyone has
a right to like a product that can be bought and sold. Furthmore, many Marxist insights into human
behavior involve the damaging effects of capitalism on human psychology, and those damaging
effects often appear in our relationship to the commodity. For Marxism, a commdity s value lies not in
what it can do (use value) but in the money or other commodities for which it can be traded (exchange
value) or in the social status it confers on its owner (sign exchange value) (Tyson 62). In The Visit,
Claire commodifies sex as an item that can be purchased. Claire, herself, was also commodified when
she agreed to marry an old Armenian millionaire. The millionaire s

Dover Bitch Essay
When one reads the titles, it is pretty apparent that these two poems are related by some means.
Ironically, they were not written by the poet. Dover Beach is a slightly sappy poem written in a
depressing matter. A man pours out his heart and feelings to his companion on the beach. Sappy and
depressing do not seem to fit together very well, but that is the best terminology to describe it. As for
Dover Bitch , it is mocking the poem Dover Beach. In this poem, the writer is claiming the female
from Dover Beach would rather get physical that simply listen to her date ramble on. While analyzing
Dover Beach and Dover Bitch , it is evident the two writers have opposing views on the outlook of
life. In the poem Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dover Bitch was written by an apparently sarcastic, humorous man named Anthony Hecht. In the
beginning of this poem, he wants to make sure the reader knows exactly who is mocking by calling
Matthew Arnold by name. While Dover Beach was written with beautiful, meaningful words Dover
Bitch was written in a sort of conversational tone. He mocks how the speaker in Arnold s poem
rambles on and the girl has to listen to his garbage. He claims the girl was simply thinking of the
notion of what his whiskers would feel like/on the back of her neck (lines 10 11). Hecht states that he
had been intimate with this woman and it was simply just a once in a while thing. Whenever he came
to town, he would give her a present, sleep with her, and then move on with his life. It could be a
month or a year before this woman heard from him again. Sadly, the woman went along with it.
Whenever he called, she came running. His view on life is less emotional than that of Matthew
Arnold. Arnold feels as though looking as waves can bring on emotions while Hecht can have
relations with a woman and not feel a spark of

Examples Of Psychoanalysis In Alien
C. Psychoanalysis as a political weapon in Alien
i. Male action and female inaction There are two major examples of male activeness and female
passiveness in Alien: the chestburster scene and the differences between Ripley and Dallas as the
protagonist. In the iconic chestburster scene the crew are seated peacefully as they prepare to return to
stasis, however this peace is disturbed when Kane convulses and a chestburster bursts out of him.
Only the male characters are active in this scene: Parker and Dallas initially comfort and hold Kane
down, Brett holds Kane s legs down, and Ash runs from the other side (farther aways then Ripley and
Lambert) to help. Ripley and Lambert initially reach out towards Kane but eventually watch in horror
as the alien bursts from him. Dallas, Parker, and Brett were closer to Kane than Ripley so they have
more reason for helping; and Ash is the science officer so it makes sense for him to rush towards a
medical emergency. Switching one of the male characters with a female character could have
expounded on the seriousness of the scene (before the arrival of the chestburster).
While subtle, the difference between the actions taken by Dallas and Ripley exemplify the
heterosexual differences in labor. Dallas protagonist is constantly in motion: investigating the signal,
defending Ripley from the dead facehugger, and hunting the alien in the vents. Ripley s actions as
protagonist are less active, especially since she follows Dallas vent plan and

Personal Narrative Of Josiah Harlan
1. Central Asia: Personal Narrative of Josiah Harlan
a. Josiah Harlan, an American famous for his adventures in India and Afghanistan, writes about the
social situation of Afghanistan in the early 1800s. He has extensive notes about Hazara culture,
although his writings are clearly affected by prejudiced racial and religious attitudes common in the
West at the time. He certainly expresses his disapproval of Islamic ways, so his observations may not
be fully reliable, but his observations of Hazarajat allow me to reconstruct the religious life of the
Hazaras in this time period, albeit with some possible error due to his bias.

show that these parties exercised significant degrees of autonomy and were not merely Iranian

networks to form international relationships for various purposes, including increasing aid work in
Afghanistan and creating contacts with Hazaras across the world.

How Does Mrs Joe Portrayed In Great Expectations
The characters images in Great Expectations can be altered due to the first person point of view of Pip.
Many characters show up throughout the story with specific relations to Pip. Mrs Joe is his sister,
Estella is his love interest, and Magwitch his his benefactor. Charles Dickens intensifies
Characterization in his novel Great Expectations to show how Mrs.Joe, Havisham, and Magwitch are
viewed differently from Pip s eyes compared to other characters in the story.
Mrs.Joe is a character that is seen as terrifying and irrationally mean through Pip s eyes. Through Pip s
description, the reader naturally feels sympathetic towards Pip in almost every given situation. For
example, in chapter two when Mrs.Joe threatens Pip with the tar water and the tickler. The reader sees
the story through one set of eyes, leading them to believe Mrs.Joe is a jerk just because she can be like
that and prove her dominance. However, other characters may have viewed her actions differently. For

Solar Phone Screens Advantages And Disadvantages
Introduction
A solar cell is defined as energy of light being converted into electricity they are most commonly
known for being the driving force behind solar panels. Solar panel phone screens are a recent addition
to possible technologies that promote prolonging battery life and conserving energy in mobile phones.
Generally, they work by soaking up energy received from the sun s rays and then converting it into
useable electricity. This is a practice in the context of mobile phones is relatively new found and has
not seen widespread commercialization. As with any young technology, there of course comes
disadvantages with its use and function.
However, in this case the benefits seem to outweigh the shortcomings as there is little harm done
towards the environment. Various companies are showed a direct interest in the future of solar
powered screens, larger companies such as Apple (Apple patent hints at potential solar cell embedded
touch screens, p2) have in fact shared job listings in relation to the development of this technology in
their future phones.
What it is?
Solar panel phone screens are simply another way to reduce the toll of high energy consumption found
in phone devices today. It is a pre existing technology and idea, the same design comes from
traditional solar panels which receive sun light, and large enough to offer considerable electricity to
power an entire household.
Solar panel phone screens can be described as a more portable and compact rendition

  • 3. Adorno And Allum Similarities And Differences Outline the similarities and differences between the research studies of Adorno et al. (1950) and Allum (2011) on personality types Allum s research revealed correlations to Adorno s personality scales, rationalizing three hypothesized studies. Allum (2011), cited in McAvoy (2017), (pp. 33 38), studies included pseudoscience ideologies such as Astrology to foretell events in individual s life, as well lack scientific literacy from participants of how Astrology and Astronomy were etymologically classified. Allum similarly supported Adorno s notion that people with authoritarian personalities were more likely to believe in superstition and pseudo sciences such as astrology, however, Allum contrasting Adorno et al. s authoritarian personality type analysis, questioned the inclination of this study s sample, assuming a more generalized view among populations, Allum (2011), (p. 362). Adorno leaned heavily upon Freud, using a systematic formula to directly observe measurable aspects of personality, exploring latent fascist predisposition to prejudice theorizing the structure of personality research, Adorno (1950), (p. 53). To further interpret Freudian similarities in both researcher s work, in this essay, the reader will notice Adorno and Allum put in question the forces of personality; its processes, how they were organized, and similar report methods used. Effects of Temperature, pH, Enzyme Concentration, and Substrate Concentration on Enzymatic Activity INTRODUCTION Enzymes, proteins that act as catalysts, are the most important type of protein[1]. Catalysts speed up chemical reactions and can go without being used up or changed [3] Without enzymes, the biochemical reactions that take place will react too slowly to keep up with the metabolic needs and the life functions of organisms. Catecholase is a reaction between oxygen and catechol [2]. In the presence of oxygen, the removal of two hydrogen atoms oxidizes the compound catechol, as a result of the formation of water [2]. The hypothesis is as the substrate concentration has an increase so will the reaction of velocity if the amount of enzyme is kept constant. MATERIALS AND METHODS To study the effects of temperature, pH, enzyme concentration, and substrate concentration there were certain steps that were followed in order to conduct this experiment. Each factor had a separate procedure to follow to find how each had a different effect on the enzyme. To find the effect of temperature on the activity of an enzyme, the experiment deals with the steps as follows. First, 3 mL if pH 7 phosphate buffer was used to fill three different test tubes that were labeled 10, 24, and 50. These three test tubes were set in three different temperature settings. The first test tube was placed in an ice water bath for ten minutes until it reached a temperature of 2° C or less. The second tube s temperature setting was at room temperature until a temperature of 21°C was reached. The third tube was placed in a beaker of warm water until the contents of the beaker reached a temperature setting of 60° C. There were four more test tubes that were included in the procedure. Two of the test tubes contained potato juice were one was put in ice and the other was placed in warm water. The other two test tubes contained catechol. • 5. An Analysis of The Story of Rahab Essay An Analysis of The Story of Rahab The main point of the story of Rahab is that God rewards people, regardless of their station or past sins, who put their faith in Him. The story of Rahab begins when Joshua, after receiving God s command to enter into the Promised Land, sends two spies into Jericho and the surrounding areas to view the land (Joshua 2:1). The two spies are discovered in Jericho as they enter Rahab s harlot house. The king of Jericho, being alerted to their presence, sends for the spies. Jericho was a pagan city so Rahab probably had a lot of business. Notice that she owned and operated the brothel. Rahab was a successful business woman. She took charge of situations and was able to make fast, smart decisions. When the guards came to her house she quickly hid the spies on her roof and made up a clever story to not only throw the search party off but to get them out of Jericho for three days. Rahab saw a perfect opportunity to save herself from the impending doom and because of her intelligent and bold actions she was able to take advantage of it. One might even suspect her of informing the king of the spy s presence. Rahab s relationship to the spies throughout the story also shows an element of her nature. From the moment that the spies enter her house and are found out, Rahab has the upper hand in the relationship. The spies need Rahab to help them. She uses their dependence on her protection and her familiarity with the city to her advantage. Rahab is a survivor. She looks out for her own skin. The truth of her supposed religious devotion to the God of the Israelites is questionable. But true or not she had no problem using that to help her family. Rahab was loyal to her family and would do anything to ensure her family s safety. Rahab s dialogue also shows her intelligence. Her talk with the spies reads like a man speaking. Rahab ... Palaemonetes vulgaris (common name grass shrimp) is an invertebrate that is native to both areas. The comparison that is to be made is the average total length of Palaemonetes vulgaris between these two environments. The alternate hypothesis is because of human interaction occurring in the waters of unprotected areas, the Palaemonetes vulgaris will have a shorter average total length there. The protected areas of Fort DeSoto will have larger specimens than the unprotected areas of Eckerd College, because of the protection rights that Fort DeSoto has in place. Where Eckerd College is not a protected environment the Palaemonetes vulgaris are open to over fishing areas. The results could have different outcomes based on a change in locations where the Palaemonetes vulgaris were sampled. Based on the results, the null hypothesis is rejected because the Palaemonetes vulgaris in Fort DeSoto are of greater average total length (mm) than in Boca Ciega Bay at Eckerd College. Based on the results, the alternate hypothesis is accepted, because of human interactions at Eckerd College, the Palaemonetes vulgaris have shorter average total length (mm) than Fort DeSoto. By using Fort DeSoto s data from 2012 (5 years ago from today, 2017) the results may have changed dramatically in the size and quantity of the Palaemonetes vulgaris. Knowing the correct formulas and not miss keying the information being entered in to the Excel spreadsheet will affect the out coming results in the table. This is well portrayed by their comments, which also reveal the speakers internal thoughts about the couple. For instance, the mother says, do you think she can stand it, doctor? The doctor s behavior towards the girl and the young patient s reaction emphasizes the subject of this discussion. However, the use of ethos, the narrator portrays his character as a credible doctor in the story. The character of both the patient and the doctor reveal a plausible issue comparable in real life. During this period there is and epidemic of diphtheria, which worsens the situation forcing the doctor to take aggressive measures in treating his patient. Revealed through his words, the doctor first tries kindness; Awe, come on, I coaxed, just open your mouth wide and let me take a look. The United States did not face balancing because of America s reputation of being a team player in the world stage. Per Pape that reputation no longer exists. As a matter of a fact, Pape believes that soft balancing is currently in the works and as an evidence for his hypothesis, he mentioned the Iraq war and the resistance of some of our supposedly staunchest allies such as France to essentially not go along with the United States plan at least initially. There is a very legitimate fear that unless the United States changes its unilateralism, soft balancing will continue to occur. (Pape, 2005) Stephen M. Nearly every team in the NBA now has an analytics department. However, it is important to fully understand analytics before applying that knowledge to the sport of basketball. Analytics is the discovery and communication of meaningful patterns in data (Stolbunov 1). Analytics being used in sports is simply called sports analytics. Even though analytics has its flaws, it has had a major impact on team building in basketball using statistics like player efficiency rating and effective field goal percentage. In baseball, the book Moneyball revolutionized the way that the whole sport looked at analytics. Basketball has a comparable situation. The book Basketball on Paper dives into the numbers behind the sport (Haefner 10). In this book, author Dean Oliver states there are four main statistics to tell which team will win, and also states of how much importance these statistics are. He says that a team s shooting is forty percent of winning, turnovers are twenty five percent, rebounding is twenty percent, and and free throws are fifteen percent (Haefner 11). One of the fathers of analytics in basketball claims that shooting is far and away the most important statistic in the game. However, in order to know how a team is performing in this category, the team must be compared against other teams. Doing this is extremely easy. If comparing two teams playing each other, the opposing team s effective field goal percentage is simply subtracted from the team being observed (Haefner 15). A golden example of the utility of effective field goal percentage is the Golden State Warriors. This team has broken records for three pointers made, and recently won seventy three games in a single season. The Warriors have an advantage on almost every other team in the NBA because of the vast amount of three pointers that they take (Dizikes 2). The ease with which effective field goal percentage can be used and its direct correlation to which team wins the game makes it possibly the most useful statistic in the game of basketball. However, while shooting does have a direct correlation for team performance, it does not always have a major impact on how a single player ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An example of comparative advantage: Country A can produce 28 bikes and 4 radios, Country B can produce 32 bikes and 12 radios. Country B has an absolute advantage in both products but it has a comparative advantage specifically in radios because it can efficiently produce 3 times more for less than Country A (Economics Online, 2017.) He claims the girl was simply thinking of the notion of what his whiskers would feel like/on the back of her neck (lines 10 11). Hecht states that he had been intimate with this woman and it was simply just a once in a while thing. Whenever he came to town, he would give her a present, sleep with her, and then move on with his life. It could be a month or a year before this woman heard from him again. Sadly, the woman went along with it. Whenever he called, she came running. His view on life is less emotional than that of Matthew Arnold. Arnold feels as though looking as waves can bring on emotions while Hecht can have relations with a woman and not feel a spark of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Examples Of Psychoanalysis In Alien C. Psychoanalysis as a political weapon in Alien i. Male action and female inaction There are two major examples of male activeness and female passiveness in Alien: the chestburster scene and the differences between Ripley and Dallas as the protagonist. In the iconic chestburster scene the crew are seated peacefully as they prepare to return to stasis, however this peace is disturbed when Kane convulses and a chestburster bursts out of him. Only the male characters are active in this scene: Parker and Dallas initially comfort and hold Kane down, Brett holds Kane s legs down, and Ash runs from the other side (farther aways then Ripley and Lambert) to help. Ripley and Lambert initially reach out towards Kane but eventually watch in horror as the alien bursts from him. Dallas, Parker, and Brett were closer to Kane than Ripley so they have more reason for helping; and Ash is the science officer so it makes sense for him to rush towards a medical emergency. Switching one of the male characters with a female character could have expounded on the seriousness of the scene (before the arrival of the chestburster). While subtle, the difference between the actions taken by Dallas and Ripley exemplify the heterosexual differences in labor. Dallas protagonist is constantly in motion: investigating the signal, defending Ripley from the dead facehugger, and hunting the alien in the vents. Ripley s actions as protagonist are less active, especially since she follows Dallas vent plan and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Personal Narrative Of Josiah Harlan 1. Central Asia: Personal Narrative of Josiah Harlan a. Josiah Harlan, an American famous for his adventures in India and Afghanistan, writes about the social situation of Afghanistan in the early 1800s. He has extensive notes about Hazara culture, although his writings are clearly affected by prejudiced racial and religious attitudes common in the West at the time. He certainly expresses his disapproval of Islamic ways, so his observations may not be fully reliable, but his observations of Hazarajat allow me to reconstruct the religious life of the Hazaras in this time period, albeit with some possible error due to his bias. 2. This book provides historical information about Hazara Mujahideen groups and political parties from the 1980s to present. The author suggests that these parties have strong Iranian ties due to similar religious beliefs. He essentially suggests that the parties are in complete harmony with Iran. I plan to show that these parties exercised significant degrees of autonomy and were not merely Iranian puppets. 4. Guardians of Shi ism a. The author here focuses on the international nature of many organizations of prominent Grand Ayatollahs. He shows how these institutions form international networks for the scholars who found them. I plan to expand on this idea, showing how these organizations in turn produce international networks for their members. That is to say, I plan to show how Shiites, Hazaras specifically, use these networks to form international relationships for various purposes, including increasing aid work in Afghanistan and creating contacts with Hazaras across the world. 5. Many characters show up throughout the story with specific relations to Pip. Mrs Joe is his sister, Estella is his love interest, and Magwitch his his benefactor. Charles Dickens intensifies Characterization in his novel Great Expectations to show how Mrs.Joe, Havisham, and Magwitch are viewed differently from Pip s eyes compared to other characters in the story. Mrs.Joe is a character that is seen as terrifying and irrationally mean through Pip s eyes. Through Pip s description, the reader naturally feels sympathetic towards Pip in almost every given situation. For example, in chapter two when Mrs.Joe threatens Pip with the tar water and the tickler. The reader sees the story through one set of eyes, leading them to believe Mrs.Joe is a jerk just because she can be like that and prove her dominance.
