Women s Roles In Australian Society
It s arguable that through war, Australia has socially progressed; people developed looser morals and
women s roles in Australian society had elevated and changed drastically. During wartime in Australia
s early history, a majority of Australia s men sent off to help achieve victory for the Allies in various
campaigns, at the Homefront were the women of Australia work diligently, as they were employed in
jobs vacated for men. This was quite out of the ordinary as women have traditionally been wives,
nurturers, and house makers. As a result, the roles of women changed dramatically, especially during
WWII. Women now moved into jobs formerly dominated by men, there were female members in
Parliament. Women no longer wanted to stay at home and

The Hunger Games By Suzanne Collins Essay
Identity. Something so elementary to define, yet so onerous to apply to a person. Seemingly, it appears
that only through experience someone can manage to partially grasp their identity as they are pushed
to confront their environments and respond in an appropriate manner constitutionalized by their
identity. In Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games, a novel set in Panem a dystopian country that was
originally North America before the outset of natural disasters, storms, fires, encroaching seas and war
follows the first person point of view of Katniss Everdeen (Collins 18). The totalitarian government,
usually referred as the Capitol, subjects all of the twelve districts to select two male and female
teenagers to participate in the Hunger Games, where the twenty four tributes fight to the death in a
gladiator style that is used to entertain the Capitol s audience while reaffirming their dominance over
the districts. Once Katniss sister, Prim, is randomly selected for the Games, Katniss quickly volunteers
to take her place and she departs for the Capitol with the other tribute, Peeta Mellark. During Katniss
time in the arena, she is forced to adapt to her horrid situation and recognize her genuine identity as
she balances survival against humanity. As the story of Katniss develops throughout The Hunger
Games, she is forced to acknowledge her authentic identity as she diverges from her initial
preconception of her identity as she survives the new environment.

Guns in Schools
Guns in Schools
With the number of mass school shootings and incidents of violence in schools that have been
reported since April 20, 1999; the public is crying out for stricter laws to help protect our children. In
direct response to the Columbine High School shooting, schools across the country adopted a variety
of safety measures that included mandatory uniforms to prevent the wearing of gang colors and
allowing faculty to more readily identify intruders, installation of metal detectors and security
cameras, ID badges to be worn at all times, and the increased presence of armed guards on campuses.
While these measures are all intended to protect our children the fact that we are still experiencing

Economic Policies Implemented During President Reagan s...
Reaganomics refers to economic policies implemented during President Reagan s administration from
1981 1989. The main ideology of Reaganomics was conservation which promoted that government is
the problem, not solution . That means, society and market would function better with limited
government power and regulations. Accordingly, Social wealth was distributed by unrestricted market,
and profits that capitalists earned would trickle down to the bottom of society. In this way, people
were in charge of improving their lives instead of relying on the aid of government. In order to recover
from the economic crisis occurred between 1981and1982, the major Reaganomics objectives was to
reduce government intervention in business and social aids. The policies were specified as marginal
tax cut, tightening money supply, reducing social welfare programs and regulations. Generally,
Reaganomics that impact citizens the most would be tax cut, reducing welfares and regulations.
First of all, the marginal tax cut was one of the most significant policy in the governing of President
Reagan. Starting from 1981, government reduced individual tax (the top tax rate was reduced from
70% to 50 %) and Windfall profit tax. As the Tax reform act of 1986 published, the tax rate of
wealthiest Americans was decline to 28 % and corporation tax was decreased to 34%. In addition, as
marginal tax rate for wealthy people decreasing, personal exemption amount increased from $1,080 to
$2,000. That means,

The Role Of Social Class In The 1880s
During the 1880s, access was a large problem throughout the world for social class and women. One
known sector that occurred around the 1880s was the Cinderella sector, the government created many
evening classes to allow students to gain education throughout the nights. This increased the number
of students that were in education as children would have worked all day to earn money for their
families. The government never made this a priority, but they were becoming more focused to create
elementary and secondary schools which we have today. This sector was more focused on further
education as it was aimed for students who had left education (Bailey,2002).
Lowe (2002) suggested that around the time of the 1870s, traditional universities were

Albania has multiple challenges to achieve the full integrating in the European Union. But, there are

European Union s attention was again directed towards Albania during the Kosovo war. This was
because the European Union was promoting stability in the Balkan region. There were many pacts that
Albania has participated at the EU Meetings. Some of the pacts were; Stability pact for southeast
which was launched in 1999; the second pact was Stability and Association process for the Western
Balkan in 2000. However, these pacts were accepted, but many political issues were not settled during
these pacts between Albania and EU. Many other countries and international organizations were
supporting this, beside the European Union. Some of the countries were; United States, Canada,
Japan. On the other hand, some of the organizations supporting this pact were organizations like
NATO, International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. All countries of the Southeastern European
area are partners of the Stability Pact (Thiel, 2004) and one of the members is Albania. Although the
European integration it is difficult, with the assistance of European Union, Albania can progress
towards the European Integration and the country can be more trustworthy for foreign investors to

Emancipation Proclamation Dbq
The Emancipation Proclamation was presidential executive order given by Abraham Lincoln on
January 1, 1963. It changed the Federal legal status of enslaved people in the South from slave to free.
This proclamation ordered all ten states to free slaves. This proclamation excluded areas not in the
rebellion. The reason these areas were excluded is because the proclamation was issued under the
president s authority to suppress rebellion and it was not passed by Congress as a law. The Southern
Confederate supporters were given sixty days to surrender their slaves or they would face confiscation
of their land and slaves. This proclamation did not ban slavery or grant citizenship to ex slaves. It was
intended to cripple the Confederacy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Battle of Gettysburg is one of the most important events to occur in the American Civil War. The
Federals were attacked by the Confederates from the left and the right. General Robert E. Lee learned
that the Army of Potomac was on its way and he assembled his army in the Harrisburg. When he
arrived, he found that two Union brigades had arrived the day before. By July 2nd, the Union Army
had strong forces in Culp s Hill and Cemetery Ridge. General Lee decided to attack the Federals
where they already were. It was a devastating defeat for the Confederates. The Union lost 23,000 men.
The Confederate lost 28,000 men. This battle turned the Civil War in the Union s favor. Major General
Ulysses S. Grant and his Army met on the Mississippi River in the Summer of 1863. They trapped a
Confederate Army under the control of Lt. Gen. John Pemberton. He surrendered to General Grant

Disney s Mulan
Disney s Mulan is a tale of a young Chinese girl who dresses up as a man to go to war in order to
prevent her dad from having to go at such old age. Mulan is considered to be one of the first feminist
films Disney created, aiming to give a female protagonist power. However, although the
representation of female power seems promising, as aHDJSFA argues Mulan s story distorts the values
of feminism and ultimately reinforces antifeminist ideas. it is interesting to see that although Mulan
has attributes such as bravery, determination and is ultimately extremely competent as a fighter for her
country, the film struggles to act as a powerful representation of breaking the stereotypical gender
tropes so present in Disney princesses. The values ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She feels unworthy with her female status, so eloquently emphasized in the song, Reflection that she
instead adopts masculine characteristics and defies the expectations of her sex . However, this feminist
ideal is quickly forgotten as we realise she is not searching for her own accomplishment but instead
looking for something that she could do right , so that when [she] looked in the mirror [sheʼd] see
someone worthwhile (Coats Bancroft, 1998). The various songs in Mulan represent the anti feminist
nature of the film, with I ll Make a Man Out of You , in which Shang the captain, sings, did they bring
me daughters, when I asked for sons? (Coats Bancroft, 1998) Here Shang connects the soldiers
inability to perform and clumsiness with femininity. Similarly, the song A Girl Worth Fighting For, the
soldiers sing of girls that are paler than the moon, that marvel at [their] strength, and are good cooks.

What Is The Structure Of Araby
Araby Summary
This scholarly article named The Structure of Araby written by Jerome Mandel, and published by
Modern Language Studies in 1985 states that Araby, which was written by James Joyce is set up as a
medieval romance. The genre of medieval romance is what Araby is modeled off of Araby has all of
the common themes that are associated such as the aspects of a youth experiencing childhood, lovers
that are unable to be together because of social differences, and a quest to find themselves. In the
scholarly article, Mandel stated that at the beginning of the story, Araby, there were many ways that
James Joyce showed how the unnamed boy in the story was developing through his childhood by

paragraph 12). The boy has to overcome many obstacles on the way to trying to complete his quest
such as his family not having much extra many to give, his uncle that forgets that he wanted to go to

overcome obstacles that would prevent him from going to the bazaar and buying his lover something,
and complete the quest. Joyce mentions the successful and the unsuccessful quest, while the boy is
unsuccessful in his quest, and he fails to get the girl anything, but this failure made him realize who he
is as a person. He was once driven by vanity, and his love for the girl, the story was most likely
written from the narrator s perspective of him in the future looking back at his adolescence. The
narrator finds that when he was a child, he found that there were correlations between his childhood

Why Is It Important For All People Learn About Language...
I believe that it is important for all people to learn another language other than their native language. I
come from a family with great pride of heritage my father s family begin German and mother s family
begin Russian I learned multiple languages growing up. Since having this background I wanted to
learn more languages and know I can speak eight languages English, German, Russian, Arabic,
Spanish, Finnish, Ukrainian and French. I know learning a language is a long a stressful process, but it
will help you in the long run in any field of study.
Learning all this has helped me throughout my life. An example of this is when I was at the Bayshore
mall with some of my friends, and a woman who was wearing a Hijab was asking us where something
was, but we really couldn t understand her so I started talking to her in Arabic to help her out.
Learning languages doesn t just help with communication, but it also helps people see life from a
different perspective and helps with understanding a culture. Most people feel that they don t need to
learn a language because we re American and we speak English, but we are a land of mixed cultures
who needs to realize that this would make us a more intellectual country with a lot more
understanding. The field of study you enter in to will more then likely to work at an international scale
or you ll work with someone with is a different nationality.
Another reason for learning a language is for when someone travels the world, but doesn t

The First Encounter
Assignment #2
Are we alone in the universe? Scientists have been trying to answer this question for many years. As
of now there has not been any rock solid evidence to prove that there is life outside this world, but
there is an overwhelming amount of people that believe that there is life. People only believe that
there is life outside earth, they don t know there is. It is hard to know that extra terrestrials exist unless
a person has an encounter with one. A person named Claude Vorilhon (Rael) had an encounter with an
alien and was told that we were all experiments to the aliens. The alien insisted for him to spread the

This third belief is that we are living in the age of apocalypse humanity is now living in a time when it
is scientifically advanced enough to understand its origins . Since the nuclear bomb was dropped on
Hiroshima, Japan in 1945, Rael said it was at point where we entered the age of apocalypse. The
fourth belief is an embassy must be built for the arrival of the Elohim. quot;An unannounced and
undesired landing would have enormous political, economic, and social repercussions with disastrous
consequences worldwide. quot; If this embassy isn t built for their arrival, then the welfare of humans
may be in danger. The Elohim will only come to earth when an embassy is built. The fifth belief is that
there are infinite levels of life. Our earth is a small particle in the universe as we are a small part of our
earth, the living organisms in our bodies are small particles of our body, this cycle continues
indefinitely. Rael s message explains that our Earth is only one atom that forms a miniscule part of a
gigantic being. That gigantic being, in turn, is but one individual who lives on a planet that is only one
atom of an even larger being, and this structure exists indefinitely. The sixth belief is that the Raelians

What Is The History Of Betty Friedan And The Feminist...
Throughout history, many women have engaged in playing a bigger role in the society. They have
strived for expansion of their power in the nation. The greatest battle for them was in the 1960s. There
were very limited things they could do. A woman at this time period was expected to get married by
the age of 20 and dedicate the rest of her life to her husband and homemaking. She was expected a lot
only to take care of her kids and husband. They had no legal right to her husband earning or property
but the husband had legal rights to his wife properties. They were never welcomed to professional jobs
like doctor, lawyer, and engineer. Even if they did get a job they were discriminated and paid really
low wages. They were never given the opportunities to achieve jobs that would pay them higher
because they thought they would be pregnant and quit the jobs and they do not have a family that
needs financial support, unlike males. All of these caused the feminist movement where they fought
for more freedom for girls and less restriction put into them.
Betty Friedan who was born in February 4,1921in Peoria Illinois. She was an American writer,
Activist, and feminist. In 1966, she was co founded and elected as the first president of the National
Organization for women, which is also referred to as (NOW). The main goal of the organization was
to bring women into the equal level as the men s in the American society. Friedan was the main figure

Example Of Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous The name of the meeting was Grove City Wave Three Group, and it was
located at the United Methodist Church on 2710 Columbus Street in Grove City. The meeting took
place on Sunday at 7:30 pm and is held almost every Sunday. The reason I had choose this location for
the meeting was because it was near my home. When I first entered the room I was expecting the
stereotypical meeting, which is shown in movies where there is a circle of chairs in a room with no
tables. But once I entered the room, there were plenty of seats and it did not appear to be dark and
gloomy. The room was located in the basement of the church, and had the seats set were the
participants are able to see one another. I was anxious of how other members would react to my
presence, considering I was in a church. I was greeted when I entered the room. My anxiety slowly
went away, when I realized that these are people really dealing with a difficult issue in their lives. It
reminded me of how vulnerable it can be to be around others and admit to a weakness within you, to
get better. It takes a lot of courage to go to a meeting, and want to change. The members of the
meeting varied in all ages and ethnicities. There were young people as well as older people. When I
was in the meeting I was asked to introduce myself. I explained that I was a student and was interested
in learning. The participants were very understanding and did not mind at all. But it felt very awkward
for me, because I did not want to impose. One participant explained to me that there have been other
students that have attended meetings in the past. There was also another new member that came to the
meeting as well. He introduced himself, and explained his reason for coming. The others members
commended him for coming and congratulated him for attending and trying. The meeting was not
anonymous because the members had identified their first names. The meeting did not have any one
leader, but everyone in the meeting participated. There were a few participants that had roles such as
secretary, and other positions. The meeting began with an introduction, reading pledges. The focus of

African Art And Art
Another example of how culture influences art is the painting Spring Morning in the Han Palace by
Qui Ying. He was considered to be one of the Four Great Masters of the Ming Dynasty from 1368 to
1644. This painting depicted many everyday activities that would be done during the early spring
time. The work of art done by Qui Ying includes people tending to flowers and playing chess, which
are part of the Chinese culture during the spring. African art work and culture is geared towards the
religious aspects of life. Terracotta figures that did not interfere with human representation were the
first kind of African art. African art s main focus is expanding the world to decrease the fear of the
unknown. For example, a mask that was used for rituals and ceremonies created by Dual God Gulu.
The mask brings life and death. This is an example of African art that involves the religious aspect of
culture.
Fashion and clothing are most definitely a necessity in life, but also a work of art. What people wore
in the past to what we wear today is all inspired by culture. Taking a look at the past Native Americans
belonging to over five hundred groups with one of a kind traditions and ways of life dressed according
to their belief systems and culture. Some tribes had worshipped the sun and in order for them to show
their respects for the sun they wore very bright colored clothing. Whereas other tribes did not worship

Notes On Web Usage Mining
2. WEB USAGE MINING
Data mining techniques can be mainly divided into three categories: Web structural mining, Web
Content mining and web usage mining. Web structural mining is used to discover structure from data
available on web like hyperlinks and documents. It can be helpful to the user for navigating within
documents as mining can be done to retrieve intra and inter hyperlinks and DOM structure out of
documents. Web Content mining can be used to extract information from the data available on web
like texts, videos, images, audio files etc. Web usage mining is the application of data mining
techniques to discover interesting usage patterns from web usage data, in order to understand and
better serve the needs of web based applications (Srivastava, Cooley, Deshpande, and Tan 2000).
Websites or usage data takes user s available information and browsing history, location of user etc. as
input for mining information. Web usage mining can be further divided into three categories
depending upon the type of data used for mining: web server logs, application server, application level
logs. Web usage mining can be highly helpful in mining the data for web applications and thus helping
development in fields like E Commerce. It can be helpful to discover usage patterns from Web data,
thus helping serve better the needs of Web based applications. Web usage mining can be categorized
into three different phases: Preprocessing, Pattern Discovery and Pattern Analysis. I believe, this

an exotic animal in a cage, then imagined what they could earn by making them perform. What people
need to realize when they buy their tickets to the show is that these animals are not in any way meant
to perform. And even though these animals are often protected by state and local anticruelty laws, they
aren t often enough. The Ringling Brothers, for example celebrated their 146th year recently even

Eileen Fisher Case Study Essay
|
While reading through Eileen Fisher, Repositioning the Brand, it became apparent early on that the
company s main issue was relevancy an issue that many companies face in today s market. Keeping
the company current in order to attract new customers while not abandoning already loyal customers
in the process is a huge challenge that EILEEN FISHER struggled with. For purposes of
differentiating between the company and the person, EILEEN FISHER shall refer to the company for
the duration of this analysis summary.
As a company that Fisher started from scratch, she seemed to gear the company toward making
clothes that she herself liked to wear, which is a perfectly fine business model, but only to a certain
extent. As she aged, so did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After IDEO s strategies were finalized, they were implemented during the 2009 fall season via the
STITCH project. Together, both companies decided that a holistic approach would be the best way to
revitalize the company, updating the company s advertising aesthetic, changing in store visuals and
merchandising, overhauling the website, and embracing video as a communication medium in the
process all of which helped to attract a generally younger consumer.
While Fisher herself saw the rebranding as a huge success as in store and online sales both saw large
increases after the change was implemented, the company itself saw a decent amount of backlash from
its already loyal clientele. Regular customers felt insulted at the apparent short sightedness of the
company s rebranding, stating that by creating an edgier product for a younger consumer, they were
implying that the older consumer has no edge, thereby alienating them in the process. Without an
already well established social media presence, the company had no real way of responding to the
criticisms.
Despite the negativity surrounding the brand repositioning, EILEEN FISHER continued to embrace
the change, narrowing down its potential customer base to three categories: the established woman,
the emerging woman, and the nascent woman.
The emerging woman seemed the most attractive consumer base to target,

The Church s Template
Women play a complex role in Robert Orsi s The Madonna on 115th Street, at some points exercising
power and at other points exercising less power than men. In Italian Harlem when describing a domus,
the woman at the center is the one actually being described. A domus, according to Emmanuel LeRoy
Ladurie, constitute[s] a formidable reservoir of power and counter power which could hold out with
some degree of success against the external powers surrounding it. Italian women in Harlem had no
direct power in the outside world, but they were able to use their sphere of influence to leave their
mark. The power that women in Italian Harlem have is given to them by the matriarchal society
modeled by the church.

Funerals help us understand to a greater extent what these women do on a daily basis. As the center of
the domus they exert an enormous amount of effort keeping the house in running order, but they
cannot always keep it together. Woman are assigned the task of keening a biography of the deceased,
illustrating the enormous amount of detail they knew about each person. Whilst the men are at the
back, this is the moment women take center stage. This moment characterized the fact that women
brought the deceased into the world, shaped them into the person they were, and sending them off to
the afterlife. This is a major role reversal that showed how fragile the balance necessary to keep a
working household. In addition, the women were expected to speak about how the deceased fit into
the domus and illustrate how good people lived within. The church plays a major role in the culture of
Italian Harlem and it makes it a matriarchal society. Without the influence over her household, a
culturally entrapped woman has no power in the outside world. Her power faded as her community
disappeared; as the Italians left Harlem and as later generations believed they were moving out into
the mainstream of American economic and social life, the intimate connection between la Madonna
and the place, a place made sacred by her presence, was snapped. With disappearance of her

Understanding Pain. Pain is subjective in its measure, self reported by patients and defined by the
individual. There is evidence that pain is under assessed and under treated, especially in highly
sensitive people and vulnerable populations such as the elderly, individuals who English is a second

Pain affects all aspects of life, physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual. Clinicians in

What Is The Literary Analysis Of Once Upon A Time
Literary Analysis
Once upon a time, there were two women. Both were beautiful, but one was weak, the other was a
warrior. In ABC s Once Upon a Time, Rapunzel has isolated herself in a tower as a method to escape
responsibility, eventually being found by Prince David. Although she was screaming out to get his
attention, she then expresses that she does not want to leave the tower. In Rupert Sanders Snow White
and the Huntsman, the character of Snow White commanded her own army to defeat the evil queen,
who sought to kill her. She fights not with her looks, but with her strength both mental and physical.
The character of Snow White was portrayed as dauntless in the modern day movie directed by Rupert
Sanders, Snow White and the Huntsman, but the depiction of Rapunzel in another fairy tale film
remake, ABC s Once Upon a Time, was incompetent and dependant.
In Once Upon a Time, Rapunzel is scared. She is stuck with the memory of her brother, who drowned
trying to save her from a river that she was warned not to play in. She is next in line for the throne
now, and she is frightened by the prospect of responsibility. When Prince James comes across the
tower where she is trapped, she tells him of a witch who won t let her leave. James tells her that she
must defeat the witch, as it is really just her, but she persists that No, I can t. ( The Tower Once Upon a

Persuasive Essay On Commercial Animal Testing
Controversial Topic: Commercial Animal Testing Do you have an animal at home? If yes, what would
you do if it were harmed in any way? A common answer to this question is, I would do anything in my
power to protect my pet. So, if thousands of Americans with pets would stand by them in any
situation, why do people still continue to buy commercial products that are tested on animals?
Commercial products are usually classified as skincare, hair care, and makeup. This is not to say that
only women have to worry about their products being tested on, because men s products are also
tested on. A common reason for companies testing on animals is the price; it is much cheaper to test
on animals than it is to get human volunteers to try out the products before they are put on shelves. In

I understand that we have to use animals to get nutrients such as protein, which is vital for survival,
but using animals to test products is unethical and often times they are treated very poorly throughout

product is not going to be an irritant to the eyes. When scientists perform this test, they clip the
animals eyelids back and drip the product (shampoo) into the animals eyes. This often causes ulcers,
burning, and irritation. Another statement I have heard is animals do not have feelings. Animals, such
as dogs, have been scientifically proven to aid disabled Veteran s. When a dog is hurt or when an

Madame Mathilde Loise s biggest mistake was following her husband s order to lie instead of telling

Mathilde Loise and her husband s life, there could have been many alternate roads that the pair could
have taken, had they told the truth to Madame Forestier, they would not have had to sacrifice ten years

Federal Tax Policies For The United States
Despite the revisions on the Amendment throughout the following decades, and on into the twentieth
century, the in come tax today is as reasonably fair to the public as the taxations have ever been, and
probably ever will be. The Primary concern here is that today, federal income tax accounts for
somewhat half of the federal revenue. With tax reform, the government never sought a way out of debt
for their homeland, it was, and always will be a way to claim money from the human resources it
ultimately requires to participate in war, then takes the majority of that money and funds war. The US
tax policies will always incorporate enough revenue to stay at war, even if the well being of the US is
not in direct threat of any entities either ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Republican parties seem to favor lower tax rates with less movement of the rates of taxation
across the tax bracket. The Democratic parties are leaning more towards raising taxes on those in
higher tax brackets on the basis that the government should obtain more revenue from those who can
afford it more easily. However, as the Amendment is written, maybe the 16th Amendment wouldn t be
fare to those households with higher income being taxed at a heavier rate than those of lower income
households. The 16th Amendment is written to contain such elements to ensure it being constitutional,
however these same elements could do just the opposite. In regards to the abilities of the 16th
Amendment, Erik Jenson shows that is possible, A simple example makes the point: suppose states A
and B have equal populations, but state A s citizens have double the income of those in state B. With
apportionment, the total collected from the two states would have to be equal. On average, the citizens
of state B would have to pay tax at double the rates applicable to citizens in state A . (Jenson,
109:799(2014)) This would be the part where we show thanks that the government doesn t weigh
heavier taxes on those who of higher income homes because the pendulum swings both ways. The
New Deal of the 1930 s may also be constitutional; as well at it may also be apportioned. With the
Presidents passed being concerned with the freedom and equality of all the inhabitants of

Tennyson s In Memoriam Essay
Tennyson s In Memoriam
In Memoriam is an elegy to Tennyson s friend Arthur Hallam, but bears the hallmark of its mid
nineteenth century context, the locus classicus of the science and religion debate. Upon reflection,
Hallam s tragic death has proved to be an event that provoked Tennyson s embarkation upon a much
more ambitious poetic project than conventional Miltonian elegy, involving meditation upon the
profoundest questions faced by mankind. Scientific advancements, most notably in the fields of
geology and biology, challenged the beliefs that form the foundation of Christianity: the belief in a
beneficent God responsible for creation and ensuing superintendence and the belief in man s immortal
soul. By the mid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are Tennyson?s trip through Hades. By personifying Nature and placing ?her? in opposition to
God as a distinct power, Tennyson seems to imply a polytheistic belief that two, not one, seats of
power exist. In these passages it seems that Tennyson perceives Nature to have greater influence over
Earth and mankind. At the close of LV, God appears as distant and hidden in darkness, leaving man in
a state analogous with that of a child ? weak, vulnerable and desirous of care: he falls ?upon the great
world?s altar stairs That slope thro? darkness up to God,? (lines 14 15). Metaphorically darkness
represents the secrecy surrounding God and the answers that he holds, a motif that is reprised at the
close of LVI: ?behind the veil, behind the veil.? The repetition of the clause emphasises Tennyson?s
frustrations. Indeed God seems so distant and hidden that Tennyson?s faith in his existence is
weakened and he is only able to ?feel? and ?faintly trust,? not resolutely know. The lack of conviction
conveyed here through Tennyson?s semantic choices illustrates an emergence of disillusion with
eutheistic belief. The existence of the Christian conception of a loving god is called into question, and
it is implicitly asserted that the conception of Nature conveyed in these passages may be the true,
ditheistic, conception of God. That ?of fifty seeds she often brings but one to bear? (LV line 7 8)

St. Augustine, The City Of God
Report on St. Augustine, The City of God
Saint Augustine, The City of God,tr. J.W. Leedom; reprinted in C. Warren Hollister et al., eds,
Medieval Europe: A Short Source Book (New york, N.Y.: McGraw Hill, 1982; 4th ed.2002), 17 19.
The City of God is written by Augustine, the Bishop of Hippo, in the early fifth century of the current
era. The writings of Augustine deal with the intellectual problems Christians faced. Augustine lived in
a time where the Roman Empire was in decline. King Alaric sacked Rome with his army of Visigoths.
Augustine wrote about how Christians should lead their lives for the purpose of God. His writing
engaged people to live a spiritually driven life, and not one driven by earthly desires. People were not
to worry about the invading armies which threatened the falling Roman Empire, since they did not
change their path to a great life after death.
Augustine challenged the claims of pagans, including those who sacked Rome. He wished to refute
the claims which accused the Christian God as the source of turmoil in Rome. Augustine assured his
fellow Christians , through his writing, of the false notions these pagans believed in. Furthermore, he
showed the way in which pagans worshipped their gods, including the practice of offering sacrifices,
was not the way to eternal salvation. In a time of Chaos and uncertainty, Christians could look to
Augustine s writing in order to find solace in their faith. Therefore, the invaders held no power over
them, since

Sumarian Beliefs
History
In the southernmost region of ancient Mesopotamia laid the land of Sumer. Many believe that it is the
cradle of civilization. The name Sumer comes from the language of Northern Mesopotamia known as
Akkadian. It translates as the land of civilized kings . The Sumerians referred to themselves as the
black headed people and the thier home was simply the land . The biblical Book of Genius makes
mention of this area calling it Shinar. We know the land today to be southern Iraq.
Archeologists believe Sumer was settled somewhere between 4500 to 4000 BC. They developed thier
culture in the form of city states. Known city states are Ur, Kish, Eridu, Lagash, Nippur and Urak.
Urak is regarded as the first true city.

The music that has been found is difficult to convert to modern music. The staff notation that we use
today did not exist in ancient Sumer. They utilized a system of words or intervals followed by
numbers to identify pitch. We had no idea what interval matched what pitch. It was decided that we
would base the intervals off the tones made from replicas of ancient instruments. The Sumerian music
system is based around the lyre (a type of portable harp) that had nine strings just like contemporary
harps. Each string was tuned a step above or below the next string. The Sumerian scale had seven
notes in it just like a modern scale. The Sumerians gave their scales names just as we do today.
However, we do not know what the Sumerian scale names translate to. In other words, we do not
know the mode. Melodies today are made by assigning each note a specific pitch. Sumerian notation
gives each note a certain interval followed by a number. This is confusing. Does the number mean that
we play the interval a certain number of times? Do we play the same interval an octave apart at the
exact same time? No one knows for sure. Most scholars do not think that it means to play the intervals
simultaneously. That would make the music polyphonic. Polyphony in music was not truly seen until
1000 AD, 2000 years after Sumerian music was

Having a dog park would just cater to dog owners. What about cat owners? Or people who have other

Economists employed by the government are involved in implementing policies, which were
especially established to meet government s objectives that are very often multidimensional. There are
four very fundamental objectives for viable economy, including decreasing the unemployment rates in
certain regions, lower or stabilise the inflation , constant economic growth and a satisfactory balance
of payments position. The UK economy continues to suffer from a number of underlying structural

Government s objectives have transformed from from long standing ones and have focused on
inflation and stable macro stance through establishing supply side policies. Moreover, supply side
policy has a direct or indirect impact on many government s spheres. Cutting the marginal rate of
income was a major supply side objective during the Thatcher s governance. At the beginning of
Thatcher governance in 1979, the standard rate of income was 33 per cent and the top rate was more
than 80 per cent. By 1997 the standard income rate fell to 23 per cent and the top rate was only 40 per

this policy. According to many economists, cuts in the marginal rate of income tax have a positive

Crime and Punishment Essay examples
Crime and Punishment
In his book Crime and Punishment , Dostoevsky explores the path of Raskolnikov who has many
problems and obstacles throughout his life. He commits murder and is faced with the long and
mentally extremely painful journey of seeking redemption.
Raskolnikov believes that by a law of nature men have been somewhat arbitrarily divided into two
groups of ordinary and extraordinary . Raskolnikov believes that the duty of the ordinary group is to
just exist, in order to form the world and the society. The second group, those who are extraordinary ,
are a step above the normal. They have the ability to overstep normal bounds and violate the rights of
those who are simply ordinary. They are the prime movers; they ... Show more content on

However, once he realized that he had made mistakes, he began to question his theory. After all the
frustration, he decided to go to the scene of the crime. This gave him a rush that made him feel
invincible. He believed that this would prove if he was truly super . Once he realized that he wasn t
part of this class, he suffered a mental breakdown.
Raskolnikov s suffering has a direct relationship with his guilt over his crimes. It is also due to his
recognition of his failure to meet his theory. However another controlling idea behind his punishment
is a result of his dual personality and his obsession to prove his theory. He is best represented as being
either cold, intellectual and isolated from society, or as being warm and compassionate. The murder is
the result of his intellectual side, trying to determine whether or not he fits his extraordinary man
theory. It was this side of his personality that develops the crime and carries out his plan, forcing the
humane side to suffer for his actions. Both Raskolnikov and Svidrigailov are headed down the same
path throughout the novel. They share the same goal of redemption. Dunya was the same objective to
Svidrigailov as the superman theory to Raskolnikov. When they

Producing the First Atomic Bomb
Introduction Uranium is a dense radioactive metal that is used in nuclear reactors. It is found in nature
and has two large isotopes, U 235 and U 238. The energy that is produced in nuclear reactors is from
the splitting or fission of the U 235 atoms. It releases energy in most cases in the form of heat; U 235
is the main splitting isotope of uranium. Uranium enriched is required to be in light water reactors,
which allows controlled nuclear reaction.
Processes for Uranium Enrichment When producing the first atomic bomb, scientists from the
Manhattan Project thought about multiple processes for uranium enrichment, now we have a few that
we use which is Gaseous Diffusion also known as Effusion, Gas Centrifuge, and Laser separation.
Gaseous diffusion is a technology that produces enriched uranium by forcing uranium hexafluoride
through pipelines and then pumped through filters called barriers. This makes it where there is a slight
separation between molecules, which contain uranium 235, and uranium 238. There are hundreds of
barriers because one barrier isn t enough to make uranium hexafluoride gas contain enough U238 that
can be used in reactors. We only have on plant left and it is located in Paducah, Kentucky. The Gas
Centrifuge was made to replace Gaseous Diffusion, it is a device that performs isotope separation of
gases and it s the preferred way because it takes less time, and takes less energy. We have these plants
in New Mexico, Idaho and Ohio. Laser separation is

Comparing Beowulf And Grendel s Mother
In the poem Beowulf tracks Grendel s Mother down in a lake and commences fighting her in armor
and with the sword he received from Unferth. During the fight Beowulf s sword breaks, and Grendal s
Mother tries to stab him, but Beowulf s armor protects him from it. He then finds a giants sword, and
uses said sword to stab into the hideous creature s neck and kill her. In the movie he tracks Grendel s
Mother without any sort of armor. He finally finds her, and instead of a hideous beast like in the poem,
he finds a beautiful woman who just happens to look like this. Instead of killing her he does the exact
opposite and has sexual intercourse with her. Another example is In the movie, Beowulf comes back
to Heorot and claims to have eradicated Grendal s Mother. After feasting and drinking in ... Show

After the talk the king tells his court Beowulf shall be the ruler of his kingdom, and the king then
commits suicide by falling off a cliff. But In the poem Beowulf returns to his native home land after
vanquishing Grendel s Mother and Grendel, and he ascends to the thrown of his home by being a
devout and studious subject to King Hygelac till he and his son pass away.
One major difference is in the poem a thief disturbs a dragon by taking some of it s treasure. This
angers the dragon, and it decides to destroy the near by kingdom. Beowulf receives news of said
dragon attacks, so confronts the dragon terrorizing his kingdom. He fights the dragon valiantly, but is
unable to beat it until Wiglaf helps. They kill the dragon, but Beowulf receives deadly injures that

Gallo Winery
CSU Stanislaus E J Gallo Winery Plant Tour paper Stephan Jimenez Professor Kidd OM 3010 2013
October, 14 E J Gallo Winery Plant Tour paper The Gallo Winery plant tour was an awesome
experience for me. I have always been curious about how a product was made from start to finish, and
after the Gallo tour I have many questions answered. In this paper you will learn many different things
about how a production plant runs and what they continually do to make improvements in all aspects
of their business. Some focal points of this paper will be on the Gallo Winery operational strategy,
what type of processes are utilized in the plant, and whether this company uses a lean production
process or not. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next step in the process is called the rinser, where the bottles are then inverted and rinsed to wash
away contaminants most importantly any excess pieces of glass. Then the bottles are moved to the
eight different types of fillers that Gallo uses, the fill height is either adjustable or depends on the
pressure of the wine in the surge tank. Once the bottles are filled with the selected product, they are
then fed from a hopper upstairs in FW to be corked or capped. After being closed and completely
sealed, the products is transformed to the Labeller machine which either uses cold glue or pressure
labels. The labels are either spliced or continuous, with the front label pressured on and the back label
is put on with cold glue. Once all other steps are completed the final process that Gallo uses is the
packing step which all bottles are placed into the box, and the box is glued and closed mechanically.
Some lines use a Palletizer machine which is a device that is used to stack factory goods and products
on to a pallet. To make sure everything runs smoothly and on time Gallo has a good support system to
help them continually moving forward. It starts with the Production Engineer that has the task of
making sure everything is running sufficiently. There is a section called Training and Technology
Integration, which manages the staffing and skills development of all operational employees. Then
Tech Service communicates with all

The Wonderer 10th Century
Often the solitary one finds grace for himself the mercy of the Lord. Although he, sorry hearted, must
for a long time move by hand (in row) along the waterways, along the ice cold sea, tread the paths of
exile. Events always go as they must!
So spoke the wanderer, mindful of hardships, of fierce slaughters and the downfall of kinsmen
(comrades):
Often I had alone to speak of my trouble each morning before dawn. There is none now living to
whom I dare clearly speak of my innermost thoughts.
I know it truly, that it is in men a noble custom, that one should keep secure his spirit chest (mind),
guard his treasure chamber (thoughts), think as he wishes. The weary spirit cannot withstand fate (the
turn of events), nor does a rough or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And so He destroyed this city He, the Creator of Men, until deprived of the noise of the citizens, the
ancient work of giants stood empty.
He who thought wisely on this foundation, and pondered deeply on this dark life, wise in spirit,
remembered often from afar many conflicts, and spoke these words:
Where is the horse gone? Where is the rider? Where is the giver of treasure? Where are the seats at the
feast? Where are the revels in the hall? Alas for the bright cup! Alas for the mailed warrior! Alas for
the splendour of the prince!
How that time has passed away, dark under the cover of night, as if it had never been! Now there
stands in the trace of the beloved troop a wall, wondrously high, wound round with serpents. The
warriors taken off by the glory of spears, the weapons greedy for slaughter, the famous fate (turn of
events), and storms beat these rocky cliffs, falling frost fetters the earth the harbinger of winter; Then
dark comes, nightshadows deepen, from the north there comes a rough hailstorm in malice against
men. All is troublesome in this earthly kingdom, the turn of events changes the world under the
heavens. Here money is fleeting, here friend is fleeting, here man is fleeting, here kinsman is fleeting,
all the foundation of this world turns to waste!
So spake the wise man in his mind, where he sat apart in counsel.

Seemingly, it appears that only through experience someone can manage to partially grasp their identity as they are pushed to confront their environments and respond in an appropriate manner constitutionalized by their identity. In Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games, a novel set in Panem a dystopian country that was originally North America before the outset of natural disasters, storms, fires, encroaching seas and war follows the first person point of view of Katniss Everdeen (Collins 18). The totalitarian government, usually referred as the Capitol, subjects all of the twelve districts to select two male and female teenagers to participate in the Hunger Games, where the twenty four tributes fight to the death in a gladiator style that is used to entertain the Capitol s audience while reaffirming their dominance over the districts. Once Katniss sister, Prim, is randomly selected for the Games, Katniss quickly volunteers to take her place and she departs for the Capitol with the other tribute, Peeta Mellark. During Katniss time in the arena, she is forced to adapt to her horrid situation and recognize her genuine identity as she balances survival against humanity. As the story of Katniss develops throughout The Hunger Games, she is forced to acknowledge her authentic identity as she diverges from her initial preconception of her identity as she survives the new environment. The main ideology of Reaganomics was conservation which promoted that government is the problem, not solution . That means, society and market would function better with limited government power and regulations. Accordingly, Social wealth was distributed by unrestricted market, and profits that capitalists earned would trickle down to the bottom of society. In this way, people were in charge of improving their lives instead of relying on the aid of government. In order to recover from the economic crisis occurred between 1981and1982, the major Reaganomics objectives was to reduce government intervention in business and social aids. I come from a family with great pride of heritage my father s family begin German and mother s family begin Russian I learned multiple languages growing up. Since having this background I wanted to learn more languages and know I can speak eight languages English, German, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Finnish, Ukrainian and French. I know learning a language is a long a stressful process, but it will help you in the long run in any field of study. Learning all this has helped me throughout my life. An example of this is when I was at the Bayshore mall with some of my friends, and a woman who was wearing a Hijab was asking us where something was, but we really couldn t understand her so I started talking to her in Arabic to help her out. Learning languages doesn t just help with communication, but it also helps people see life from a different perspective and helps with understanding a culture. Most people feel that they don t need to learn a language because we re American and we speak English, but we are a land of mixed cultures who needs to realize that this would make us a more intellectual country with a lot more understanding. • 16. What Is The History Of Betty Friedan And The Feminist... Throughout history, many women have engaged in playing a bigger role in the society. They have strived for expansion of their power in the nation. The greatest battle for them was in the 1960s. There were very limited things they could do. A woman at this time period was expected to get married by the age of 20 and dedicate the rest of her life to her husband and homemaking. She was expected a lot only to take care of her kids and husband. They had no legal right to her husband earning or property but the husband had legal rights to his wife properties. They were never welcomed to professional jobs like doctor, lawyer, and engineer. Even if they did get a job they were discriminated and paid really low wages. They were never given the opportunities to achieve jobs that would pay them higher because they thought they would be pregnant and quit the jobs and they do not have a family that needs financial support, unlike males. The meeting took place on Sunday at 7:30 pm and is held almost every Sunday. The reason I had choose this location for the meeting was because it was near my home. When I first entered the room I was expecting the stereotypical meeting, which is shown in movies where there is a circle of chairs in a room with no tables. But once I entered the room, there were plenty of seats and it did not appear to be dark and gloomy. The room was located in the basement of the church, and had the seats set were the participants are able to see one another. I was anxious of how other members would react to my presence, considering I was in a church. I was greeted when I entered the room. My anxiety slowly went away, when I realized that these are people really dealing with a difficult issue in their lives. It reminded me of how vulnerable it can be to be around others and admit to a weakness within you, to get better. It takes a lot of courage to go to a meeting, and want to change. The members of the meeting varied in all ages and ethnicities. There were young people as well as older people. When I was in the meeting I was asked to introduce myself. I explained that I was a student and was interested in learning. The participants were very understanding and did not mind at all. But it felt very awkward for me, because I did not want to impose. One participant explained to me that there have been other students that have attended meetings in the past. There was also another new member that came to the meeting as well. He introduced himself, and explained his reason for coming. The others members commended him for coming and congratulated him for attending and trying. The meeting was not anonymous because the members had identified their first names. The meeting did not have any one leader, but everyone in the meeting participated. While Fisher herself saw the rebranding as a huge success as in store and online sales both saw large increases after the change was implemented, the company itself saw a decent amount of backlash from its already loyal clientele. Regular customers felt insulted at the apparent short sightedness of the company s rebranding, stating that by creating an edgier product for a younger consumer, they were implying that the older consumer has no edge, thereby alienating them in the process. Without an already well established social media presence, the company had no real way of responding to the criticisms. The Democratic parties are leaning more towards raising taxes on those in higher tax brackets on the basis that the government should obtain more revenue from those who can afford it more easily. However, as the Amendment is written, maybe the 16th Amendment wouldn t be fare to those households with higher income being taxed at a heavier rate than those of lower income households. The 16th Amendment is written to contain such elements to ensure it being constitutional, however these same elements could do just the opposite. At the close of LV, God appears as distant and hidden in darkness, leaving man in a state analogous with that of a child ? weak, vulnerable and desirous of care: he falls ?upon the great world?s altar stairs That slope thro? darkness up to God,? Warren Hollister et al., eds, Medieval Europe: A Short Source Book (New york, N.Y.: McGraw Hill, 1982; 4th ed.2002), 17 19. The City of God is written by Augustine, the Bishop of Hippo, in the early fifth century of the current era. The writings of Augustine deal with the intellectual problems Christians faced. Augustine lived in a time where the Roman Empire was in decline. King Alaric sacked Rome with his army of Visigoths. Augustine wrote about how Christians should lead their lives for the purpose of God. His writing engaged people to live a spiritually driven life, and not one driven by earthly desires. People were not to worry about the invading armies which threatened the falling Roman Empire, since they did not change their path to a great life after death. Augustine challenged the claims of pagans, including those who sacked Rome. He wished to refute the claims which accused the Christian God as the source of turmoil in Rome. Augustine assured his fellow Christians , through his writing, of the false notions these pagans believed in. Furthermore, he showed the way in which pagans worshipped their gods, including the practice of offering sacrifices, was not the way to eternal salvation. Two instruments were developed, validated and reliability scores obtained using Cronbach alpha method. Simple percentages, weighted average and chi square were used in data analyses. In all, two research questions and three hypotheses were addressed and tested. The findings revealed low level of availability of ICT Based facilities as well as low level of utilization of ICT Based facilities by teachers of biology. The study ... Crime and Punishment Essay examples Crime and Punishment In his book Crime and Punishment , Dostoevsky explores the path of Raskolnikov who has many problems and obstacles throughout his life. He commits murder and is faced with the long and mentally extremely painful journey of seeking redemption. Raskolnikov believes that by a law of nature men have been somewhat arbitrarily divided into two groups of ordinary and extraordinary . Raskolnikov believes that the duty of the ordinary group is to just exist, in order to form the world and the society. The second group, those who are extraordinary , are a step above the normal. They have the ability to overstep normal bounds and violate the rights of those who are simply ordinary. They are the prime movers; they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, once he realized that he had made mistakes, he began to question his theory. After all the frustration, he decided to go to the scene of the crime. This gave him a rush that made him feel invincible. He believed that this would prove if he was truly super . Once he realized that he wasn t part of this class, he suffered a mental breakdown. Raskolnikov s suffering has a direct relationship with his guilt over his crimes. It is also due to his recognition of his failure to meet his theory. However another controlling idea behind his punishment is a result of his dual personality and his obsession to prove his theory. He is best represented as being either cold, intellectual and isolated from society, or as being warm and compassionate. The murder is the result of his intellectual side, trying to determine whether or not he fits his extraordinary man theory. It was this side of his personality that develops the crime and carries out his plan, forcing the humane side to suffer for his actions. Both Raskolnikov and Svidrigailov are headed down the same path throughout the novel. They share the same goal of redemption. Dunya was the same objective to Svidrigailov as the superman theory to Raskolnikov. When they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Producing the First Atomic Bomb Introduction Uranium is a dense radioactive metal that is used in nuclear reactors. It is found in nature and has two large isotopes, U 235 and U 238. The energy that is produced in nuclear reactors is from the splitting or fission of the U 235 atoms. It releases energy in most cases in the form of heat; U 235 is the main splitting isotope of uranium. Uranium enriched is required to be in light water reactors, which allows controlled nuclear reaction. Processes for Uranium Enrichment When producing the first atomic bomb, scientists from the Manhattan Project thought about multiple processes for uranium enrichment, now we have a few that we use which is Gaseous Diffusion also known as Effusion, Gas Centrifuge, and Laser separation. Gaseous diffusion is a technology that produces enriched uranium by forcing uranium hexafluoride through pipelines and then pumped through filters called barriers. This makes it where there is a slight separation between molecules, which contain uranium 235, and uranium 238. There are hundreds of barriers because one barrier isn t enough to make uranium hexafluoride gas contain enough U238 that can be used in reactors. We only have on plant left and it is located in Paducah, Kentucky. The Gas Centrifuge was made to replace Gaseous Diffusion, it is a device that performs isotope separation of gases and it s the preferred way because it takes less time, and takes less energy. We have these plants in New Mexico, Idaho and Ohio. Laser separation is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Comparing Beowulf And Grendel s Mother In the poem Beowulf tracks Grendel s Mother down in a lake and commences fighting her in armor and with the sword he received from Unferth. During the fight Beowulf s sword breaks, and Grendal s Mother tries to stab him, but Beowulf s armor protects him from it. He then finds a giants sword, and uses said sword to stab into the hideous creature s neck and kill her. In the movie he tracks Grendel s Mother without any sort of armor. He finally finds her, and instead of a hideous beast like in the poem, he finds a beautiful woman who just happens to look like this. Instead of killing her he does the exact opposite and has sexual intercourse with her. Another example is In the movie, Beowulf comes back to Heorot and claims to have eradicated Grendal s Mother. Gallo Winery CSU Stanislaus E J Gallo Winery Plant Tour paper Stephan Jimenez Professor Kidd OM 3010 2013 October, 14 E J Gallo Winery Plant Tour paper The Gallo Winery plant tour was an awesome experience for me. I have always been curious about how a product was made from start to finish, and after the Gallo tour I have many questions answered. In this paper you will learn many different things about how a production plant runs and what they continually do to make improvements in all aspects of their business. Some focal points of this paper will be on the Gallo Winery operational strategy, what type of processes are utilized in the plant, and whether this company uses a lean production process or not. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next step in the process is called the rinser, where the bottles are then inverted and rinsed to wash away contaminants most importantly any excess pieces of glass. Then the bottles are moved to the eight different types of fillers that Gallo uses, the fill height is either adjustable or depends on the pressure of the wine in the surge tank. Once the bottles are filled with the selected product, they are then fed from a hopper upstairs in FW to be corked or capped. After being closed and completely sealed, the products is transformed to the Labeller machine which either uses cold glue or pressure labels. The labels are either spliced or continuous, with the front label pressured on and the back label is put on with cold glue. Once all other steps are completed the final process that Gallo uses is the packing step which all bottles are placed into the box, and the box is glued and closed mechanically. Some lines use a Palletizer machine which is a device that is used to stack factory goods and products on to a pallet. To make sure everything runs smoothly and on time Gallo has a good support system to help them continually moving forward. It starts with the Production Engineer that has the task of making sure everything is running sufficiently. There is a section called Training and Technology Integration, which manages the staffing and skills development of all operational employees. Then Tech Service communicates with all ... Although he, sorry hearted, must for a long time move by hand (in row) along the waterways, along the ice cold sea, tread the paths of exile. Events always go as they must! So spoke the wanderer, mindful of hardships, of fierce slaughters and the downfall of kinsmen (comrades): Often I had alone to speak of my trouble each morning before dawn. There is none now living to whom I dare clearly speak of my innermost thoughts. I know it truly, that it is in men a noble custom, that one should keep secure his spirit chest (mind), guard his treasure chamber (thoughts), think as he wishes. The weary spirit cannot withstand fate (the turn of events), nor does a rough or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He who thought wisely on this foundation, and pondered deeply on this dark life, wise in spirit, remembered often from afar many conflicts, and spoke these words: Where is the horse gone? Where is the rider? Where is the giver of treasure? Where are the seats at the feast? Where are the revels in the hall? Alas for the bright cup! Alas for the mailed warrior! Alas for the splendour of the prince! How that time has passed away, dark under the cover of night, as if it had never been! Now there stands in the trace of the beloved troop a wall, wondrously high, wound round with serpents. The warriors taken off by the glory of spears, the weapons greedy for slaughter, the famous fate (turn of events), and storms beat these rocky cliffs, falling frost fetters the earth the harbinger of winter; Then dark comes, nightshadows deepen, from the north there comes a rough hailstorm in malice against men. All is troublesome in this earthly kingdom, the turn of events changes the world under the heavens.
