The Classical Nature of the Sui Dynasty
Classical
WHAT IS CLASSICAL?
There are multiple meanings of classical, originally the term classical is a way to describe the
literature, culture and art of ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. Though this is the original
definition of the word classical it is well argued that many different civilizations and arts, literature,
and culture can be described as classical.
EXAMPLE
An example would be classic music as this would be referencing European music around the 18th to
19th century.
JUSTIFYING CLASSICAL
Another definition of classical is the most developed stage of art from a civilization such as Chinese
classic poetry or classical music. Having these two quite contradicting definitions, to justify,
something that is classical gives a great impact as well as long impact on today s society whether the
impact was either positive or negative.
THE SUI DYNASTY
An example of this new justified definition would be the Sui Dynasty and how it has impacted China
so much to which they had introduced a new religion that now takes up 20% to 50% of China s
population.
Brief History
During the 6th century, the hardworking micromanager Yang Jian had ascended the Sui dynasty. This
dynasty preceded the Southern and Northern Dynasties and was quite a productive time in terms of
artistic production. For over a century, China has unified after the north south division and tried to
unify the people of China by using the Equal field system. This technique allowed the

Mexico s Current Political System
Mexico s official name is the United Mexican states. Mexico s current political system derives from
the Constitution of 1917, which arose from the Mexican Revolution. The Constitution captures the
ideals of the Revolution and reflects three centuries of Spanish colonial rule. The Constitution protects
the rights of workers, peasants, and organizations. It guarantees the right to have an eight hour
workday, rights for women and children workers, and rights for minimum wage being sufficient
enough to satisfy the necessities of life. In order to make a change to the constitution requires there
needs to be the approval of both houses of the federal legislature and the approval of at least 17 of the
32 state legislatures. (Geo Mexico) Mexico s political system is a federal republic based on
presidential democracy. The government has three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The
executive branch is the most important. The president serves a six year term and cannot be re elected.
The president appoints the 18 cabinet secretaries who run their ministries and they rarely ever meet.
Only the president is has the power to veto bills and enforce/execute laws. Mexico does not have a
vice president, the constitution provides a process by which, in the case that the president becomes
vacant before the election, the Congress chooses a temporary president and then holds a new election.
The Mexican legislature is composed of a lower house called the Chamber of Deputies and an

Order processing (source: Samsung)
After placing their orders, Samsung would forward the customers desired products to their sales
headquarters. After necessary paper work has been done, the items would then be checked for
availability at specific distribution centres. In a case whereby the selected stock is unavailable in its
specific distribution centres, Samsung would re import the stocks from overseas factory to replenish
their stocks.
3. Order Picking and Assembly
As Samsung s distribution centre is separated into different zones, most of the items are on shelving
racks divided between different floors. In addition, Samsung has a horizontal carousel and pallet racks
for large items. However, the picking process only starts when the particular printer starts to print a
series of barcode labels. By scanning the barcode with a PDA, it informs the picker exactly where to
go. Upon reaching on its particular site, he scans the barcodes and ratify the number of items/parts
removed. By using the barcode, Samsung is able to reduce the wrong picking location and the wrong
number of items. (Samsung Improves Quality through Compact and Reliable Scanners,2011, February

The Evolution Of Orthognathic Surgery
Introduction and Literature review
Orthognathic surgery is the surgical procedure performed in the jaws and facial skeletal structures to
correct the congenital or acquired deformities involving bones and soft tissues (Rodrigo, 1995) to
restore the anatomy and function (Pineiro Aguilar et al., 2011) and considered as widely used
procedure (Choi et al., 2013).
Orthognathic surgery has evolved into one of the standard of care in oral and maxillofacial surgery. It
s early evolution is often credited to Vilray Blair, the famed St Louis plastic surgeon who, in
conjunction with Edward Angle, developed organized orthognathic surgery (Aziz, 2004) but, the true
origin of orthognathic surgery was in 1848 when the surgeon Simon P. Hullihen surgically ... Show

In patient with Class III malocclusion, as an example, mandibular growth continues until the late
teens, especially in male patient. Thus, orthognathic surgery is the only viable option (Venugoplan et

Orthognathic surgery appears to be a safe procedure (Kim and Park, 2007) but in a literature review of
complications related to orthognathic surgery done by Steel and Cope (2012), they found that more
than 65 complications have been published in the literature ranging from postoperative nausea and
vomiting to death. The authors in this review classified the complications to common and rare
complications and they categorized excessive bleeding as one of the common complications.
Severe bleeding may be encountered during maxillary osteotomies from damage to the descending
palatine artery, sphenopalatine artery, pterygoid venous plexus, or occasionally from damage to the
second part of the maxillary artery, while in the mandibular osteotomies significant bleeding may
occur from injury to inferior alveolar artery, masseteric artery, retromandibular vein, or facial artery

Essay on No Blood Transfusion for Jehovah s Witnesses
Jehovah s witnesses faith allows them to seek medical help; however, they do not accept blood
transfusions. This belief arises from a biblical passage that states Only flesh with its soul its blood you
must not eat (Genesis 9:3 4), You must not eat the blood of any sort of flesh, because the soul of every
sort of flesh is its blood. I will set my face against that person who eats blood...Anyone eating it will
be cut off (Leviticus 17:10, 13 14). These passages are interpreted by Jehovah s witnesses as
forbidding the transfusion of any blood products. The following presentation will address legal and
ethical issues that can arise from this scenario.

Jehovah s Witnesses respect their religion and their beliefs and many strongly adhere to them because
of the many consequences that they may face. Jehovah s Witness believe that if they accept blood
products, they will suffer severe consequences. Some of the consequences Jehovah s Witness believe
they will encounter include lack of spiritual purpose, relationship with God will be damaged and they
will be expelled from their congregation (Jehovah s Witnesses, 2000). Many parents face the worse
decision when a child is involved.
The following scenario explores the legal and ethical decisions involved with a pediatric patient. A six
year old boy suffering from Sickle cell anemia is brought to the hospital with a crisis. During a sickle
cell anemia crisis, red blood cells are damaged and they are unable to deliver oxygen to the body. The
standard treatment is oxygen, hydration, blood replacements and exchange transfusion (Anita, 2006).
The pediatric patient was admitted in critical condition and a blood transfusion is necessary. Parents
stated they want to save their child and will accept any type of treatment except for blood products.
Adults have the right to refuse any type of treatment including blood products. Nurses are there to
support and advocate for the patient and to assist and support the patient when other methods of
treatment are chosen. Parents with full custody

Blind People Myths
Now, there are many myths that people hold about blind people. Some of the myths that the narrator in
Cathedral holds are, This blind man, feature this, he was wearing a full beard! A beard on a blind man!
Too much to say (Cite). Much to contrary belief, blind people s hair still grows the same as anyone
else s hair as long as they don t have any other disease that would interfere with hair growth. Another
myth that our narrator thinks is when he says, But he didn t use a cane and he didn t wear dark glasses.
I d always thought dark glasses were a must for the blind (Cite). The reality is, not all blind people
carry a cane or wear dark glasses. However, there are many reasons why most blind people choose to.
Blind people, just like any other person needs to protect their eyes from UV sun rays, and because
they are blind they cannot tell where they are looking at the sun or not, therefore the sunglasses help in
this way. Another reason a blind person might wear sunglasses is for aesthetic reasons, as was read in
the story the narrator wished that Robert would wear the dark sunglasses, he says: Fact was. I wished
he had a pair. At first glance, his eyes looked like anyone else s eyes. But if you looked close, there
was something different about them. Too much white in the iris, for one thing, and the pupils seemed
to move around in the sockets without his knowing it or being able to stop it (Cite). With wearing
sunglasses, it can make other people at ease (Ashish).

to lend him everything he had saved up. Thomas was willing to lend victor the money as long as he
could go with him to phoenix (276). I ve got some money saved up, Thomas said. It s enough to get us
down there, but you have to get us back. (277). Victor did not believe he was still friends with
Thomas, and therefore was unwilling to accept Thomas s offer. Thomas response was, I didn t say we
were friends, I said you had to take me with you. (277). Thomas was willing to say anything if it could
get Victor to accept his assistance. Victor s father had asked Thomas to watch out for victor (279), and
that is exactly Thomas was doing. When someone has a willingness to see and acknowledge their past
faults and have a desire for change, they have the potential to revive a much brighter future with
meaningful companionship. During the trip, victor glows deeper respect for Thomas. It was beyond

A Rose For Emily Symbolism Analysis
The Symbolism of the Setting in Faulkner s and Hemingway s Stories
The place where the story is set plays the most significant role in the majority of fiction pieces, since it
is the setting that outlines the plot development and influences the heroes decisions and general
characteristics. In Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants, the
setting is raised to the symbolic level. When the outside portrayal does not correspond to what is
happening inside the character, it adds a psychological perspective to the plot s analysis. In Faulkner s
story, there is much information about the Griersons who have been at the top tier of society for a long
time and have become an integral part of the local community. In ... Show more content on

It is the repetition of the phrase had once been that attracts the audience s attention, since with such a
repetition, the narrator wants to underline the obvious difference between the house s former splendor
and its current half ruined appearance, though it still tries to look stubborn and coquettish (1), just like
its last dweller Miss Emily. Hemingway also introduces the setting with the first sentence when saying
that the hills across the valley of the Ebro were long and white (229), and the whole location is
drenched in the bright sunlight with people having no possibility to hide in the shadow of trees. With
these words, the narrator wants to imply that this story is a kind of confession in which nothing will be
hidden from attentive readers, though it may take time for them to realize what the usual conversation
can hint at.
Both heroines understand that certain changes are inevitable in their condition. They are confused by
possible consequences and are scared stiff of what they are expected to do. While these emotions are
not shown directly, they are shown through the setting. In Faulkner s story, Miss Emily leaves her
house very seldom as if the surrounding world makes her insecure and unconfident, while a disgusting
stink of decay and frustration seems to start coming from the building she has been occupying for so
many years.

I live on a planet named Oceano, created by the Great Poseidon. Eighty percent of the planet is

we have lived in a world of peace with the humans and have created an everlasting friendship.
Everything was perfect until yesterday, when the humans decided to strip us of our most valuable
treasure, the fountain of youth and fortune. This has caused chaos in the water, and infuriated my
father, the King of the Ocean. Not only do I see this as a betrayal from the humans, but as a chance to

The Decolonization Process After The Second World War
29. The decolonization process after the Second World War resulted in the end of British hegemony in
the Indian Ocean. The subsequent Cold War which ensued was again marked by superpower rivalry in
the region, enhancing the region s global strategic value. When this period came to an end, the littoral
countries of the IOR to a certain extent rediscovered some of the economic, social and cultural facets
that made the ocean the bridge between Africa, Asia and Australia . However, regional cooperation
coordination is still a far reality which is a dire necessity for overall development in the region. In the
21st century the Indian Ocean security has evolved to be multifaceted and dynamic. The emerging
threats and challenges which are typically common to the entire region, range across a wide spectrum
with transnational maritime crimes such as piracy, illegal immigration, human trafficking, smuggling
and illegal unregulated and unreported (IUU) shing activities at one end to the more serious
challenges of natural disasters, climate change and even interstate maritime disputes erupting into
fully fledged confrontations at the other end . The word Maritime Security deals with the prevention of
illicit activities in the maritime domain . In the previous chapter we have been acquainted with the
geostrategic and economic importance of the region which has resulted in the shift of world s interest
to this part of the maritime province.

it herself when I had walked in the room. She laughed and told me I was right that the PEG tube was a

Etha-Not a Good Idea Essay
Etha Not a Good Idea Ethanol is the fuel of the future. Really? How so? Ethanol will solve the energy
crisis. That sounds a little far fetched. Ethanol stimulates time travel. Alright, that s just a flat out lie. It
seems that these days everybody and their brother thinks that ethanol is the magic key to the future of
powering automobiles and solving the problem of dependence on foreign oil. Well, that is not the case.
Ethanol is not the energy source of the future; in fact ethanol only creates more energy problems.
When Nicolaus Otto built his famous four stroke engine in 1876, he chose it to use gasoline (Gilles 2).

36.5 gallons of gasoline, whereas it took 50 gallons of E85 to go that same distance. That s a 26.5
percent drop in fuel economy. And having to drive all the way to find a service station that has ethanol
will definitely not help keep the tank full, which shows that gasoline is better for mileage, kit and

These two authorities in the automotive field made an addition to the experiment: performance of the
same Tahoe on ethanol and gasoline. Not only were the standard 0 60 and quarter mile tests done, but
also a test for something more common in everyday driving, a 50 70 miles per hour highway test. In
the quarter mile test, gasoline eked out a win, taking the gold by three tenths of a second and finishing
about two miles an hour faster. The naught to 60 test is where good ol fashioned gasoline blew ethanol
out of the water. Gasoline was faster than ethanol by five tenths of a second in reaching the mark of 60
miles an hour. The only time ethanol was faster than gasoline was when there was a mechanical glitch
in the transmission in the 50 70, but without glitches, gasoline was still faster. (Edmunds and Reed)

gasoline left? Valid point, gasoline won t

Comparing Dulce Et Decorum Est And Futility
Living through inhospitable experiences conveys the lingering mental deterioration of an individual s
humanity. Wilfred Owen conveys such notions in his poems Dulce et Decorum est and Futility , which
detail his own perspective upon the Great War by underlining the emotional and physical exhaustion
caused to the soldiers. Dulce et decorum est focuses on the grotesque horrors of war, as well the ever
declining human nature. Futility however details the uselessness of war and questions the pointless
meaning of life. Through the use of metaphors, and other poetic techniques, both the poems have
conveyed the antiwar themes and as a result, dictates a thorough insight of the consequences of war.
Owen s 1917 Dulce et decorum est provides insight by a result of personal experience, the physical

The Successful State Intervention For South Korea Essay
Koral Zazueta
PSCI 241 Essay #1
The successful state intervention can be identified by different methods of state intervention aimed at
promoting industrialization. Kohli claims that cohesive capitalist states have been the most effective in
fostering industrialization, specifically in South Korea, neo patrimonial states being least effective,
which existed in Nigeria. The fragmented multiclass states India, is in between (Kohli, Atul. 2004).
Ultimately, the role of different types of colonialism and state intervention effects state development in
the developing world.
Kohli argues that the state capacity of India, Nigeria and South Korea have been molded by their
different colonial experiences, but rapid economic growth is enhanced by a more forceful state
intervention. According to Kohli, successful state intervention depends on market reinforcement
policies and whether or not support of profit for private investors and cooperation between the private
sector and the state exists (Kohli, Atul. 2004). While this method did exist and work for South Korea,
Botswana experienced a different type of state intervention with minimal colonial influence. The role
of the British in Botswana was minimal compared to the Japanese s role in South Korea. Botswana s
precolonial institutions endured throughout colonialism and after their independence. Despite the
constraints on political elites the institutions placed were supported and were imperative in promoting
economic success

Jim Crow Laws In The 1800s
Soon after slavery was abolished in 1865, all races could live freely without being controlled by
anyone else...or so they thought. A new rule in the southern states in America divided whites and
blacks amongst each other called systematic discrimination or as you may know it as, segregation or
Jim Crow laws. However in 1975 civil right law meaning to prevent discrimination against other
races, really didn t work out too well. It was already too late, because the Jim Crow laws were already
put in place. How did this all happen? Well we need to go back when Jim Crow laws were first
thought of. In 1890, a group called The citizen s committee plotted a protest against an early Jim Crow
law. More specifically Louisiana s separate car law. It abided by a rule known as equal, but separate
idea. Other races could have the same rights as White people, however they had to be positioned

Abdomen Case Study Essay
The sequencing that I will be using to assess the abdomen would be inspection, auscultation,
percussion, and palpation. I would inspect the abdomen for the shape of the abdomen, skin masses and
abnormalities. Inspection will give me clues whether I should percuss or palpate the abdomen. Then, I
would auscultate the abdomen for altered bowel sounds. It is important to auscultate the abdomen
first. Percussion and palpation tends to intensify peristalsis which can result to false interpretation of
bowel sounds (Jarvis, 2012). When I proceed to the patient s abdominal examination, it is important to
know the anatomy of the abdomen where each organ is located. I would percuss M.M s abdomen and
check for abnormal fluid and masses. According to Jarvis (2012), flank dullness upon percussion may
indicate fluid in the abdomen or ascites. I would do palpation last if not contraindicated. Palpation is

sounds, but diminished bowel sound over the ascitic area (Jarvis, 2012). I would do percussion to a
patient who have ascites and listen for dull sound. I would do a light palpation of the abdomen if the
patient tolerates. It is important that I check his mental status, because the buildup of toxins in the
brain is common to someone who has a history of alcohol abuse. I would watch the patient for hepatic
encephalopathy. Since the liver is unable to remove toxins from the blood and accumulates in the
blood resulting in confusion or decreased mental function. I would also look for signs of ascites,
because liver failure can cause fluid buildup and

On What Occasions Does Norse Mythology Play an Important...
Introduction On what occasions does Norse Mythology play an important role in Beowulf?
Throughout the story of Beowulf, Norse Mythology has been an important factor of the story s
continuation. While they both have interactions with Christianity, they are both very important. Norse
Mythology has existed as early as the 10th century. Just like how Beowulf, and many other epics have
been told, Norse mythology was preserved through the tradition of oral preservation. Norse
Mythology It is said that there are twelve major Norse gods. This is of similar to the twelve chief
Roman gods and goddesses. Odin was the chief god and only had one eye, while the god of war, Tyr,
only had one arm. This meant that in Northern Europe, this mythology ... Show more content on

During a time of crisis, King Hrothgar also called and prayed for help from the Norse gods. Many
mythological creatures from Norse Mythology appear in Beowulf. Grendel was an ogre that attacked
the Mead hall. The dragon was a flying mystical beast that breathed fire. Many Norse traditions was
also practiced in Beowulf. Many included the death ceremonies, as well as songs. Relationship to
Christianity In Beowulf, the dragon is often referred to as the worm The worm is a biblical allusion to
the serpent in the Book of Genesis and represents evil. Grendel was also a descendent of Cain, the first
murderer in the Bible. Beowulf is seen as a sacrificial scapegoat and is often compared to Jesus. They
both have sacrificed their lives to save many people. Throughout the story, Beowulf repeatedly refers
acknowledges God as his protector. During the battle with Grendel s Mother, Beowulf see s the Giant
s sword. He does not take credit for this and states that God have protected him. One very important
relationship to Christianity is the biblical allusion of Good Vs Evil. This theme has been repeated over
and over in the book. Beowulf is good, and Hrothgar can even represent god. However, evil attacks
good and they have to stop it. The Mead Hall that Hrothgar have built is similar to that of Adam and
Eve s paradise. Conclusion Norse mythology plays a very important role in Beowulf. In Beowulf,
there are many references that help the story s progression as well as

Arguments Against MMR Vaccines
A young mother noted it is God s will if my child dies from measles or other infectious disease, but I
will not forgive myself if my child gets Autism after I allow him to be vaccinate. I will feel that I did

Cochlear Australia And New Zealand
Cochlear Australia and New Zealand is a company that specializes in electronic medical devices that
replaces the function of the damaged inner ear. Cochlear Australia and New Zealand developed a short
film entitled Does Love Last Forever? , which premiered in Australian theaters to attendees of the
movie Lion and eventually became a viral sensation. The film follows the story of a couple s
relationship from its early stages through to middle age and retirement, and asks the audience at the
end whether the couple remained happy and in love. In actuality, the film was disguised as a hearing
test and used camera angles, misleading body language, background noises to help determine the
viewer s hearing ability. Those that experience hearing loss rely more heavily on techniques like
watching body language, or lip reading, and removing the ability to do so while watching the film
helps the viewer interpret its own ending. Thus, those that could not hear the dialogue would conclude
love did not last, while those that could hear the conversation would determine that love did last.
Cochlear s campaign uses spin tactics such as emotional manipulation and deception to create a
purchaser demand for their products. They specifically use the tactic of fearmongering, or deliberately
arousing public fear about an issue, to make the audience believe they may need a hearing aid. The
film is deliberately made to be difficult to hear regardless of your hearing capabilities to create
anxiety, drawing upon Edward Bernays tactic of swinging emotional currents as to create a higher
purchaser demand (Bernays 54). This film is also spun to appear as a public service announcement,
where the primary focus of the campaign is to selflessly help the audience. The video hides the fact
that it is created by a company who would monetarily benefit from an increased rate of hearing loss.
The spin used in this video was successful because it effectively tricks the viewer into thinking they
were experiencing hearing loss. In addition to carefully timed camera angles, the video allows the
audience to see themselves and their relationships through the couple and the focus on them makes
them less likely to suspect they are victims of spin. When I

The black market rate of Rp 50.00/U.S.$ represented a devaluation from the current rate of
Rp40.4795/$ of about 23.5%. There is some uncertainty about the demand for PIA s service in
Pakistan, because it is difficult to estimate the impact of the expansion on the demand. Avicular
Controls would now be more accessible to Pakistan s consumers, but the precise increase in the
demand for cannot be easily forecasted. This demand is affected by future economic conditions and
future competition. In addition to these factors, there is much uncertainty about the future exchange
rate at which the funds will be converted into dollars. Again, the value of Pakistan s currency has been
very volatile over time and has typically depreciated substantially against the dollar. Thus, it would be
natural to estimate the dollar cash flows by assuming some degree of depreciation in Pakistan s
currency, but there would still be much uncertainty regarding the degree of depreciation. If ACI were

The Black Of The Society
Is this week s readings we discuss black public intellectuals. This is examined in different was. Nada
Elia s Cornel West s Representations of the Intellectual: But Some of Us Are Brave? discusses black
intellectuals place within society. She begins by stating that she will be disproving the perception of
Cornel West. West believes that there are (only) two organic intellectual traditions in African
American life: the Black Christian tradition of teaching and the Black musical tradition of
performance (Elia, 336). This, in West s opinion, leaves the black intellectuals left out of the black
community, even though many of them aspire to use their education to alleviate problems within the
black community. Elia s mentions her understanding of the black community in which she believes
this community doesn t exist. This unity is overly imagined. While the black community has come
together to achieve goals, it is usually during time of crisis. Black people have come together for the
greater good and have merely put their differences a side during these times. Elia goes on to give
examples of this such as Malcolm X and Martin Luther King (Elia, 337). West point of view is
described as apocalyptic. He truly believes that there were more black intellectuals back then and that
it was better for them back then. Elia disagrees with this and utilizes the opinions of other scholars,
such as bell hooks, to do so. One of the main points the author brings up is how West feels isolated

John F. Kennedy s Civil Rights Speech
Does everyone deserve civil rights? John F. Kennedy believed so during the Civil Rights Movement.
The Civil Right Movement began around 1950 and ended around 1970. A few of the major leaders
were Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and John F. Kennedy. The purpose of the Civil Rights
Movement was to end discrimination and prejudice among whites and blacks. Many African
Americans did not have the same rights as Caucasians mainly due to their skin being a different color.
A famous speech delivered by John F. Kennedy was The Nation Faces a Moral Crisis Regarding Race

Nation Faces a Moral Crisis in Regard to Race , John F. Kennedy inspires his intended audience
during the Civil Rights Movement by using the rhetorical devices of tone and repetition. Kennedy
advocates greater civil rights for African Americans. Because of increasing violence and chaos
between whites and blacks, Kennedy felt the need to address the nation concerning racism. In John F.

A View from the Bridge by Miller
Miller s A View from the Bridge, originally written in 1956 as a one act play, has many features of a
classic Greek tragedy. It is set in the Italian American neighbourhood, situated in Red Hook, near
Brooklyn Bridge in New York. It is in this community Miller chooses to dramatise themes of conflict,
betrayal, love and obsession. The underlying omerta is present throughout the play and is the reason
for the conflict as it is defied by Eddie Carbone, the Italian longshoreman, who destroys himself in a
clash between his blind passions and primeval ideas of his own people about right living.
In Eddie, Miller creates the classic Italian American family man who strives to be head of the
household and goes about with a sense of pride and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Code of honour binds families and the whole neighbourhood with a sense of community, and to
betray or defy it is the most disgraceful thing to do as everyone is supposed to look after each other. In
a traditional Greek tragedy, the tragic hero upsets the gods or their destiny or a code. So it is fitting,
then, that Miller has chosen the Italian American society to situate his tragedy in as it is in this society
where he can use the code of silence in the community, the omerta, to replace the gods or destiny
which is usually defied by the tragic hero.
Miller has shown that respect is a recurring theme throughout the play, and is critical to the tragedy as
a whole, as it is present in males. This is manifested in Eddie who repeats his name over and over:
Eddie Carbone. Eddie Carbone. Eddie Carbone. The play is centred on respect; it begins with a name (
This one s name is Eddie Carbone ) and ends with the same name repeated three times again. The
name represents everything he is, not just physically but socially too it is something the community
will hear and immediately have a perception of the person, for example if a person has a good name
they are generally respectable . Eddie must have respect for his role as a tragic hero, which he does as
he yearns for it throughout the play as he wants to be a masculine figure. This is a crucial

The Importance Of The English Revolution And The American...
English history played a major role in the American Revolution by introducing new and revolutionary
ideas to the public. Several events, such as the English Revolution and the restoration of the monarchy
also influenced the mindset during the war. The successful overthrow of Charles I and the attempted
establishment of an English republic probably inspired many colonists to fight against King George III
s tyranny. Enlightenment ideals such as social contract and basic rights also influenced the war. The
colonists felt that King George III was violating their right to privacy, assembly, and speech.
Therefore, the colonists had the right to revolt because the government was failing its main purpose
according to social contract. British tax and economic policies such as the Stamp Act, Townshend Act,
Sugar Act, and the Navigation Acts angered colonists. They believed the Parliament had no right to
impose these taxes and laws on them because the colonists weren t represented in government. As a
result, several Sons of Liberty members, disguised as Native Americans, boarded a British cargo ship
and dumped tea into the Boston Harbor as protest. Angered by the act, Parliament passed the
Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts), punishing the Bostonians for the Boston Tea Party by blockading the
Boston Harbor until restitution was made for the tea. The colonists also resented the Navigation Acts,
which effectively created a British trading monopoly. Cheap items were often highly taxed,

The Importance Of Football In High School
When students go from junior high to a high school, they will see and witness new things that the
school will provide throughout the four years. New clubs, activities, things that they will never forget
for next couple years. If you re really wanting to have a good time at school, you can be a part of a
sport instead of being in P.E. in the first two years of high school. There are many sport that students
could join like, but there is one that people are really worried about young students could be harmed.
Football is a sport that has a lot of contact and, as seen on T.V., people have been sent to the hospital
for serious head injuries, some might even reach the point of dying. Many schools have themselves,
should young student be played in high school? Well, some might say it is not safe, but I think student
should have the opportunity to make the football team. Young teens have many perspectives than other
teenagers, no one is the same. Many teens would want to join football and there are those who would
not like to even jog or would go outside. It would be a good way for those who want to get a daily
exercise and lose some calories, these young athletes would feel good about themselves to know they
are in a sport and they get some exercise into their bodies. Some young teenagers would not want to
even go for walk, a nice, easy jog, or even want to sweat at all. There have been cases that teens would

Persuasive Essay On Veganism
In today s society, our bodies have become the front image in all aspect of our lives.. Healthy living
styles and tips have exploded all over media across the United States. Veganism is one of the
upcoming lifestyles that thousands of families around the countries have adopted into their eating
habits. Beyond the health benefits of cutting out any and all animal products, veganism has become
the face to animal abuse, especially in the produce, handbag, and makeup industry. Companies like
People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) create projects and advertisements to encourage
people to go vegan. Recently, PETA has connected with Traci Bingham,a famous TV actor, to launch a
digital and poster advertisement. The advertisement displays Bingham s naked body painted like the

has been justified through its intention to honor tradition and Native Americans. The controversy
surrounding the use of Native American mascots began in the 1960s with the Native American Civil

satire, the state of California made a historic decision to become the first state to ban the use of the

These four high schools had until January 1st, 2017 to change their mascot name to comply with this

Freedom of the Will and the Concept of a Person by Harry...
In Freedom of the Will and the Concept of a Person , Harry Frankfurt illustrates the concepts of
freedom of will and freedom of action, but more importantly, Frankfurt has refined the compatibilism
theory. Compatibilism allows the freedom of will to exist in the deterministic world. According to
determinism theory, the future state of worlds is determined by some events in the distant past (E) and
the laws of nature (L). More specifically, E refers to the history, such as experiences or states whereas
L refers to scientific or physical law like gravity. For example, an alcoholic s action is determined that
he will not stop drinking. Here E is that he had been drinking in the past, and L is the physiological
addiction effect caused by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Frankfurt, there is no more than an innocuous appearance of paradox in the proposition
that it is determined, ineluctably and by forces beyond their control, that certain people have free wills
and that others do not (20). Frankfurt s theory is purely based on the relationship between different
orders of desires, instead of the origin of the desires. In other words, so long as one has the freedom to
desire a particular first order desire of his, he has the freedom of will, even though all of his desires
are causally determined. There is one objection to the necessity of higher order desires. Consider
Hugh wants to have another drink at the bar, and he also wants to drive safely on the road. At last, he
chooses not to drink another glass of wine and drives safely home. The simple structure of Humean
compatibilism is that one is free when his action is followed by his desire. Since Hugh has a desire to
drive home safely and he makes this effective, he is free. Yet, using Frankfurtean view leads to
confusing conclusion. First, Hugh has two conflicting first order desires, and he also has a second
order desire not to be moved by his first order desire, which is to have another the drink. Due to the
fact that Hugh chooses not to have another drink, Hugh has freedom of will and acts freely.
Nevertheless, it does seem that Hugh forms his second order desire, based

There are multiple meanings of classical, originally the term classical is a way to describe the literature, culture and art of ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. Though this is the original definition of the word classical it is well argued that many different civilizations and arts, literature, and culture can be described as classical. EXAMPLE An example would be classic music as this would be referencing European music around the 18th to 19th century. JUSTIFYING CLASSICAL Another definition of classical is the most developed stage of art from a civilization such as Chinese classic poetry or classical music. Having these two quite contradicting definitions, to justify, something that is classical gives a great impact as well as long impact on today s society whether the impact was either positive or negative. THE SUI DYNASTY An example of this new justified definition would be the Sui Dynasty and how it has impacted China so much to which they had introduced a new religion that now takes up 20% to 50% of China s population. Brief History During the 6th century, the hardworking micromanager Yang Jian had ascended the Sui dynasty. This dynasty preceded the Southern and Northern Dynasties and was quite a productive time in terms of artistic production. For over a century, China has unified after the north south division and tried to unify the people of China by using the Equal field system. This technique allowed the ... Mexico s current political system derives from the Constitution of 1917, which arose from the Mexican Revolution. The Constitution captures the ideals of the Revolution and reflects three centuries of Spanish colonial rule. The Constitution protects the rights of workers, peasants, and organizations. It guarantees the right to have an eight hour workday, rights for women and children workers, and rights for minimum wage being sufficient enough to satisfy the necessities of life. In order to make a change to the constitution requires there needs to be the approval of both houses of the federal legislature and the approval of at least 17 of the 32 state legislatures. (Geo Mexico) Mexico s political system is a federal republic based on presidential democracy. The government has three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The executive branch is the most important. The president serves a six year term and cannot be re elected. The president appoints the 18 cabinet secretaries who run their ministries and they rarely ever meet. Only the president is has the power to veto bills and enforce/execute laws. Mexico does not have a vice president, the constitution provides a process by which, in the case that the president becomes vacant before the election, the Congress chooses a temporary president and then holds a new election. When the outside portrayal does not correspond to what is happening inside the character, it adds a psychological perspective to the plot s analysis. Hemingway also introduces the setting with the first sentence when saying that the hills across the valley of the Ebro were long and white (229), and the whole location is drenched in the bright sunlight with people having no possibility to hide in the shadow of trees. With these words, the narrator wants to imply that this story is a kind of confession in which nothing will be hidden from attentive readers, though it may take time for them to realize what the usual conversation can hint at. • 19. The Successful State Intervention For South Korea Essay Koral Zazueta PSCI 241 Essay #1 The successful state intervention can be identified by different methods of state intervention aimed at promoting industrialization. Kohli claims that cohesive capitalist states have been the most effective in fostering industrialization, specifically in South Korea, neo patrimonial states being least effective, which existed in Nigeria. The fragmented multiclass states India, is in between (Kohli, Atul. 2004). Ultimately, the role of different types of colonialism and state intervention effects state development in the developing world. Kohli argues that the state capacity of India, Nigeria and South Korea have been molded by their different colonial experiences, but rapid economic growth is enhanced by a more forceful state intervention. According to Kohli, successful state intervention depends on market reinforcement policies and whether or not support of profit for private investors and cooperation between the private sector and the state exists (Kohli, Atul. 2004). While this method did exist and work for South Korea, Botswana experienced a different type of state intervention with minimal colonial influence. Cochlear Australia and New Zealand developed a short film entitled Does Love Last Forever? , which premiered in Australian theaters to attendees of the movie Lion and eventually became a viral sensation. The film follows the story of a couple s relationship from its early stages through to middle age and retirement, and asks the audience at the end whether the couple remained happy and in love. In actuality, the film was disguised as a hearing test and used camera angles, misleading body language, background noises to help determine the viewer s hearing ability. Those that experience hearing loss rely more heavily on techniques like watching body language, or lip reading, and removing the ability to do so while watching the film helps the viewer interpret its own ending. Thus, those that could not hear the dialogue would conclude love did not last, while those that could hear the conversation would determine that love did last. Cochlear s campaign uses spin tactics such as emotional manipulation and deception to create a purchaser demand for their products. They specifically use the tactic of fearmongering, or deliberately arousing public fear about an issue, to make the audience believe they may need a hearing aid. The film is deliberately made to be difficult to hear regardless of your hearing capabilities to create anxiety, drawing upon Edward Bernays tactic of swinging emotional currents as to create a higher purchaser demand (Bernays 54). This film is also spun to appear as a public service announcement, where the primary focus of the campaign is to selflessly help the audience. The video hides the fact that it is created by a company who would monetarily benefit from an increased rate of hearing loss. The spin used in this video was successful because it effectively tricks the viewer into thinking they were experiencing hearing loss. In addition to carefully timed camera angles, the video allows the audience to see themselves and their relationships through the couple and the focus on them makes them less likely to suspect they are victims of spin. The black market rate of Rp 50.00/U.S.$ represented a devaluation from the current rate of Rp40.4795/$ of about 23.5%. There is some uncertainty about the demand for PIA s service in Pakistan, because it is difficult to estimate the impact of the expansion on the demand. Avicular Controls would now be more accessible to Pakistan s consumers, but the precise increase in the demand for cannot be easily forecasted. This demand is affected by future economic conditions and future competition. In addition to these factors, there is much uncertainty about the future exchange rate at which the funds will be converted into dollars. Again, the value of Pakistan s currency has been very volatile over time and has typically depreciated substantially against the dollar. Thus, it would be natural to estimate the dollar cash flows by assuming some degree of depreciation in Pakistan s currency, but there would still be much uncertainty regarding the degree of depreciation. If ACI were to accept payment in rupee, it would be incurring substantial currency risk. If the payments were to occur on schedule, 20% advance payment upon contract signing and the 80% balance settled 180 days following invoice for completed work in 360 days (180 + 360 = 540 days from the present, contract signing), and no current devaluation were to take place, the present value of the sale was estimated at $18 million. • 26. The Black Of The Society Is this week s readings we discuss black public intellectuals. This is examined in different was. Nada Elia s Cornel West s Representations of the Intellectual: But Some of Us Are Brave? discusses black intellectuals place within society. She begins by stating that she will be disproving the perception of Cornel West. West believes that there are (only) two organic intellectual traditions in African American life: the Black Christian tradition of teaching and the Black musical tradition of performance (Elia, 336). This, in West s opinion, leaves the black intellectuals left out of the black community, even though many of them aspire to use their education to alleviate problems within the black community. Elia s mentions her understanding of the black community in which she believes this community doesn t exist. This unity is overly imagined. While the black community has come together to achieve goals, it is usually during time of crisis. Black people have come together for the greater good and have merely put their differences a side during these times. Elia goes on to give examples of this such as Malcolm X and Martin Luther King (Elia, 337). West point of view is described as apocalyptic. He truly believes that there were more black intellectuals back then and that it was better for them back then. Elia disagrees with this and utilizes the opinions of other scholars, such as bell hooks, to do so. One of the main points the author brings up is how West feels isolated ... • 27. John F. Kennedy s Civil Rights Speech Does everyone deserve civil rights? John F. Kennedy believed so during the Civil Rights Movement. The Civil Right Movement began around 1950 and ended around 1970. A few of the major leaders were Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and John F. Kennedy. • 29. A View from the Bridge by Miller Miller s A View from the Bridge, originally written in 1956 as a one act play, has many features of a classic Greek tragedy. It is set in the Italian American neighbourhood, situated in Red Hook, near Brooklyn Bridge in New York. It is in this community Miller chooses to dramatise themes of conflict, betrayal, love and obsession. The underlying omerta is present throughout the play and is the reason for the conflict as it is defied by Eddie Carbone, the Italian longshoreman, who destroys himself in a clash between his blind passions and primeval ideas of his own people about right living. In Eddie, Miller creates the classic Italian American family man who strives to be head of the household and goes about with a sense of pride and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Code of honour binds families and the whole neighbourhood with a sense of community, and to betray or defy it is the most disgraceful thing to do as everyone is supposed to look after each other. In a traditional Greek tragedy, the tragic hero upsets the gods or their destiny or a code. So it is fitting, then, that Miller has chosen the Italian American society to situate his tragedy in as it is in this society where he can use the code of silence in the community, the omerta, to replace the gods or destiny which is usually defied by the tragic hero. Miller has shown that respect is a recurring theme throughout the play, and is critical to the tragedy as a whole, as it is present in males. This is manifested in Eddie who repeats his name over and over: Eddie Carbone. Eddie Carbone. Eddie Carbone. The play is centred on respect; it begins with a name ( This one s name is Eddie Carbone ) and ends with the same name repeated three times again. The name represents everything he is, not just physically but socially too it is something the community will hear and immediately have a perception of the person, for example if a person has a good name they are generally respectable . Eddie must have respect for his role as a tragic hero, which he does as he yearns for it throughout the play as he wants to be a masculine figure. This is a crucial ... • 30. The Importance Of The English Revolution And The American... English history played a major role in the American Revolution by introducing new and revolutionary ideas to the public. Several events, such as the English Revolution and the restoration of the monarchy also influenced the mindset during the war. The successful overthrow of Charles I and the attempted establishment of an English republic probably inspired many colonists to fight against King George III s tyranny. Enlightenment ideals such as social contract and basic rights also influenced the war. The colonists felt that King George III was violating their right to privacy, assembly, and speech. Therefore, the colonists had the right to revolt because the government was failing its main purpose according to social contract. British tax and economic policies such as the Stamp Act, Townshend Act, Sugar Act, and the Navigation Acts angered colonists. They believed the Parliament had no right to impose these taxes and laws on them because the colonists weren t represented in government. As a result, several Sons of Liberty members, disguised as Native Americans, boarded a British cargo ship and dumped tea into the Boston Harbor as protest. Angered by the act, Parliament passed the Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts), punishing the Bostonians for the Boston Tea Party by blockading the Boston Harbor until restitution was made for the tea. The colonists also resented the Navigation Acts, which effectively created a British trading monopoly. Cheap items were often highly taxed, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Freedom of the Will and the Concept of a Person , Harry Frankfurt illustrates the concepts of freedom of will and freedom of action, but more importantly, Frankfurt has refined the compatibilism theory. Compatibilism allows the freedom of will to exist in the deterministic world. According to determinism theory, the future state of worlds is determined by some events in the distant past (E) and the laws of nature (L). More specifically, E refers to the history, such as experiences or states whereas L refers to scientific or physical law like gravity. For example, an alcoholic s action is determined that he will not stop drinking. Here E is that he had been drinking in the past, and L is the physiological addiction effect caused by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Frankfurt, there is no more than an innocuous appearance of paradox in the proposition that it is determined, ineluctably and by forces beyond their control, that certain people have free wills and that others do not (20). Frankfurt s theory is purely based on the relationship between different orders of desires, instead of the origin of the desires. In other words, so long as one has the freedom to desire a particular first order desire of his, he has the freedom of will, even though all of his desires are causally determined. There is one objection to the necessity of higher order desires. Consider Hugh wants to have another drink at the bar, and he also wants to drive safely on the road. At last, he chooses not to drink another glass of wine and drives safely home. The simple structure of Humean compatibilism is that one is free when his action is followed by his desire. Since Hugh has a desire to drive home safely and he makes this effective, he is free. Yet, using Frankfurtean view leads to confusing conclusion. First, Hugh has two conflicting first order desires, and he also has a second order desire not to be moved by his first order desire, which is to have another the drink. Due to the fact that Hugh chooses not to have another drink, Hugh has freedom of will and acts freely. Nevertheless, it does seem that Hugh forms his second order desire, based ...
