Of Mice And Men Persuasive Essay
Writing a persuasive essay on "Of Mice and Men" can present a unique set of challenges for
several reasons. Firstly, the novella itself is rich in complex themes and nuanced characters,
requiring a deep understanding and analysis to craft a convincing argument. Exploring issues
such as friendship, loneliness, and the American Dream demands a thoughtful approach to
present a compelling perspective.
Moreover, striking the right balance between summarizing the plot and delving into critical
analysis poses a challenge. It's essential to avoid merely retelling the story while ensuring that the
analysis is thorough and insightful. Crafting a persuasive thesis that not only encapsulates the
central argument but also invites readers to engage with the narrative adds another layer of
difficulty.
The task becomes even more intricate when addressing the ethical dilemmas and social issues
embedded in the storyline. Tackling sensitive topics with finesse and providing well-supported
arguments requires a careful and considerate approach. Additionally, weaving in relevant quotes
and textual evidence to support one's claims while maintaining the flow of the essay is a skill
that demands attention to detail.
Furthermore, conveying the emotional impact of the novella and its characters in a persuasive
manner is crucial. Connecting with the readers on a personal level while adhering to the
conventions of academic writing is a delicate balancing act.
In conclusion, crafting a persuasive essay on "Of Mice and Men" requires a comprehensive
understanding of the novella's themes, characters, and social context. It demands the ability to
analyze complex issues, develop a compelling thesis, and present a nuanced argument.
Successfully navigating these challenges will result in an essay that not only persuades but also
engages readers in a meaningful exploration of the literary work.

Aristotelian Ethics And Cultural Relativism
Each individual justifies their actions and wishes by appealing to various moral
principles based on the local or individual conception of the good. In the argument of
morality and where are those moral judgments come from, brings us to the central
question of ethics, that is What is the good for human beings? More than two
thousand years ago, Aristotle gives his answer in Nicomachen Ethicssuggesting that
the purpose of morality is to enable us to lead good lives, and it is necessary to
acquire virtues to achieve the good. However, this view of ethics based on virtues
led to a relativism toward the notion that believes the criteria of ethics is tied up with
virtues which the local and individual approves to be good. In other words, the
conception of goodness is based on the tradition or custom of the local society/groups
or the individual. Therefore, many suggest that the high degree of individualism that
was shown in Aristotle s virtues ethics theory proves that he supports cultural
relativism. In this paper, I will defend Aristotelian ethical approach based on virtues
and refute relativists argument by showing the objections that against the local
ethical objectivity. The cultural relativists have offered us a view on what is the
good, is depending on whether the virtueis approved by one s culture or not. This
brings us to another question what is culture? Seemingly, people in a different
country are practicing different religions so that everyone should have
Sports Fanaticism In Sports
Sports fans, also called sports devotees, followers, or supporters, devote themselves to
a particular athlete, organization or sport. They may show their enthusiasm by often
attending sporting events or watch on television, being members of a fan club, follow
athletic news through newspapers, online websites, and create fanzines. They show a
certain behavior towards an organization. These behaviors manifest in different ways
and show in different types of sports fans. Even though sports fanaticism exists on a
spectrum, some forms stick out more than others. Individual types that stick out
include the bandwagon, the coach, the trash talker, the blind follower, and the
statistician. The bandwagon, the person that sells into the hype of a club. Every sport
holds its fair share of bandwagons. Bandwagons only know the popular players on
the roster and only watch their team when it is a popular game. Their squad usually
never has a losing season and tend to win the championship each year. If a player
they like switches to a different organization in the postseason, the bandwagon
suddenly supports that organization. When the bandwagon s team wins, they refer to
their side as we and calls their side them when they lose. Furthermore, if the
bandwagon goes to a game and their team loses, the bandwagon leaves before the
game ends and does not talk about the game.
A type of fan similar to the bandwagon, the blind follower, roots for whatever team is
popular around them. The
Ziggurats Research Paper
One of the most important aspects of Babylonian religion and tradition, and probably
the best known, is the ziggurat. Ziggurats were huge structures with a temple far
above the ground. This Temple would have belonged to the city god. The city
ziggurat would easily be the most noticeable building in the city, towering above any
people visiting their city. They could reach up to 150 ft. high as well! But how did
they build these mesmerizing temples? The materials they used, the platform they
designed, and the time and effort they spent on the ziggurats made them stand out and
be the most conspicuous building in Ancient Babylon. To start the platform, they
used Sun baked bricks (made out of straw and mud); because these bricks were sun
baked, buildings eventually deteriorated. The... Show more content on

Each of the bricks were sometimes stamped with the name of the king and later on
tied with ropes.
The Ancient Babylonians thought about the design carefully. Like an ancient
Egyptian pyramid, a ziggurat has four sides and rises up to the realm of the gods. It
also put their priests closer to the heavens, where they could better communicate
with the deity so he could hear their prayers and speak his will. They usually had 7
steps upwards and each of them had different dimensions as they got smaller. The
first step was 300ft x 300ft and 110ft high. The bricks were set in a mortar, to protect
it against flood damage as well.
Building the ziggurat took time and effort. Teams of workmen moved huge loads
of bricks using sleds on wooden rollers, or carried smaller amounts in baskets on
their backs. After the bricks had dried, each of the men had to take their share of
bricks up Estrada

American Eagle Outfitters
Company Overview According to the MarketLine analysis (2016), American Eagle
Outfitters, Inc. (AEO) was founded in 1977 by a company called Retail Ventures
originally named Silvermans Menswear, Inc. When AEO was launched in 1977, it
was part of the Silvermans Menswear, Inc. The two brothers that were part of the
founding of American Eagle, Jerry and Mark Silverman, decided that they needed to
continue growing their company by opening more than one store. They opened the
first American Eagle store in 1977 and sold brand name apparel, shoes, and
accessories for men and women (American Eagle Outfitters). A few years later in
1980, due to some financial troubles, Retail Venturessold 50% of the company to the
Schottenstein family who would then have full ownership of the company by 1991

Innovation, and Teamwork. With these values for the company, it has helped shape
their brands identity. With a driven team of employees that are part of the same
demographic as their customers, it really helps make the AEO stores very welcoming
and inviting to customers (Job Opportunities). Unlike competitors such as Hollister or

bright fun vibe when you walk in. This draws in more customers because it helps
them feel less intimidated by the store or even the
Dental Crowns Or Bonding
Is Dental Crowns, Veneers, Or Bonding Right For You?
If you need dental restoration, you may find it difficult to figure out what type of
procedure will work best for you. There are several advantages and disadvantages to
each kind of procedure, and by knowing what they are, you can make an informed
decision on your own.
Bonding
The bonding process involves applying a resin onto the damaged tooth surface. The
resin is made with a very durable substance, and will bond directly to the tooth after
exposing it to a bonding light.
While bonding is very cheap, the procedure it will not last as long as a crown or
veneer. Many people like bonding because it can be done in only one visit, and it
requires very little preparation. The procedure still

Impact of Titanium in Medicine
My family has seen the impact of titanium firsthand. My father had an ankle
replacement, my mother had a lumbar implant, and I had a knee replacement; they all
have titanium. I like to joke that we are a bionic family. I find it even funnier, and
sometimes frustrating, that we beep at the checkpoints in airports. It is pretty
interesting that we can all relate in some odd and comical manner. Titanium has
proven to be a very useful and impactful mineral in today s world.
Titanium was discovered in 1791 in the mineral menachanite by the British clergyman
William Gregor, who named the new element menachite . Four years later,... Show

There is no more challenging use in this respect than implants in the human body.
Here, the effectiveness and reliability of implants, and medical and surgical
instruments and devices is an essential factor in saving lives as well as in the long
term relief of suffering and pain. Implantation of other metals represents a potential
assault on the chemical, physiological and mechanical structure of the human body.
There is nothing comparable to a titanium implant in living tissue. Most metals in
body fluids and tissue are found in stable organic complexes. Corrosion of
implanted metal by body fluids, results in the release of unwanted metallic ions, with
likely interference in the processes of life. Titanium is judged to be completely inert
and immune to corrosion by all body fluids and tissue, and is thus wholly bio
compatible.
The natural selection of titanium for implantation is determined by a combination of
most favorable characteristics including immunity to corrosion, bio compatibility,
strength, low density and the capacity for joining with bone and other tissue, known
as osseointegration. The mechanical and physical properties of titanium alloys
combine to provide implants which are highly damage

Media Manipulation Exposed in George Orwell s Shooting an Elephant The
phrase the power of the press is used often, but what exactly is the power of the
press? Since the beginning of news reporting, it s been known that what actually
gets into the news reports is monitored and carefully picked by higher authorities.
What isn t widely known, however, is that the media can use specific wording and
phrases that, on the surface, look like normal news coverage, but are actually a
technique of the media to control the images people see and the words they hear
and read. From this, people then form their ideals, but are these actually ideals of
those people if the media from which they based them off of was controlled to begin

On a daily basis, Orwell was perceived as an intruder upon the Burmese land by the
natives, but on this day, he is momentarily worth watching (Orwell 337). Taking up
an elephant rifle, Orwell went forward to do something about the elephant, though
he wasn t sure exactly what that would be. He didn t want to kill the elephant, but
now that he held the rifle, he felt that the Burmese had the power and were forcing
him along: Here was I, the white man with his gun, standing in front of the
unarmed native crowd seemingly the leading actor of the piece; but in reality I
was only an absurd puppet pushed to and fro by the will of those yellow faces
behind... [The leader] becomes a sort of hollow, posing dummy, the
conventionalized figure of a sahib. For it is the condition of his rule that he shall
spend his life in trying to impress the natives, and so in every crisis he has got to do
what the natives expect of him (Orwell 337). Orwell s perspective was that because
the Burmese expected him to shoot the elephant, he had no other choice but to do
so. His own ideals of how shooting the elephant was wrong were overcastted by the
Burmese media, who urged him along and condoned the death of the elephant. It is
not evident whether or not the natives were aware of their power over Orwell. The
media as we know it today, however, did realize its power over the
Gunpowder Plot History
On November 5, 1605 a crisis was averted. Robert Catesby and his followers had
hatched a plan to blow up the House of the Lords while Parliament was in session.
In doing so, they would kill the king and his officials and establish a Catholic
monarchy in the resulting chaos. This would be known in later years as the
Gunpowder Plot(Sommerville, The Gunpowder Plot. ). One of the most well known
plotters, Guy Fawkes, fought for the Spanish Catholics in the 1590s. During this
time, he learned how to mine or dig passages underground to destroy enemy sites
with explosives. This skill later helped the plotters figure out how to ignite the
gunpowder. However, before the plotters could set off their gunpowder, Baron
Monteagle received a letter advising him against attending the Parliament meeting for
God and man have concurred to punish the wickedness of this time (qtd. in
Sommerville). Monteagle then passed the letter on to King James I. When James
sent officials to search the area underneath the House of Lords, Guy Fawkes was

Immediately after the plotters were caught, Catholics were dealt with harshly, and
this distrust can still be seen today. Guy Fawkes Day also rose from the spectacular
conclusion of the plan. Had the plot succeeded, the plotters might have lived
differently, the Catholics could have been treated better or worse, and the plot would
not be an event to celebrate. More importance should be placed on the Gunpowder
Plot because this event plays such a large role in shaping not only European history,
but world history through the oppression of Catholics and a new holiday. Yet, few
Americans know the story behind the plot. Acknowledging the impacts of the plot by
educating the public will reveal its significance
Mature Play Essay
Mature make believe play is an important and unique context, providing opportunities
to learn not afforded by other classroom activities. It should not be considered
something extra that can be cut to accommodate more time for academic skills, nor
should it be used as a means of adding entertainment value for inherently boring and
decontextualized drills. Instead, play should be preserved and nurtured as one of the
uniquely preschool activities that provide the most beneficial context for children s
development. Mature play, as researchers provide, say that childdevelop social skills,

Auguste Rodin The Thinker Summary
The Thinker by Auguste Robin is set to represent the Human man. It s very
positioning symbolizes the very embodiment of a simple thought. In his lifetime,
Rodin made at least 10 castings of The Thinker . However, that number has grown to
over 21. You can find them all over the world, from the Rodin Museumin Paris to the
Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, Calif., to the Rodin Museum at the
Philadelphia Museum of Art. Many of the bronze copies, as well as the original
plasters for this piece, have been displayed in a central position so that visitors can
see it from every conceivable angle. A marvel of the creative world. The style which
Auguste Rodindeveloped throughout his professional life can in part be attributed to
his artistic education or the lack of it in any formal capacity. The Thinkerby Auguste
Rodin is set to represent the Human man.
Rodin s choice to make his Thinking Man nude to follow in the style of the heroic
nudes of Michelangelo and his Renaissance style of Sculpting. Also, Auguste Rodin
created The Thinker in a way that mirrors the heroes of Michelangelo. The nude
figure is muscular, taunt, and valiant. This demonstrates to the viewer the high regard
with which Rodin held Dante and creative thinkers in general. The way the body is
placed is how the body was cast. Sitting and thinking with his entire body. Designed
as the total thinking machine. A visual document of a thought. When Rodin cast The

The Border Cities Of El Paso And Ciudad Juarez
Along the Texas/Mexico border there are many border cities, and among the border
cities there is a trend that points to an advantage of prosperity on the US side
compared to the Mexican side of the border. The border cities of El Paso and Ciudad
Juarez show an example of the US advantage over the Mexican side; El Paso is a
Texas city on the Texas/Mexicoborder, and in 2014 it was the city with the lowest
crime rate in the US ; Ciudad Juarez, on the other hand was known as one of the
deadliest cities in Mexico . Along with the differences in crime rates, El Paso and
Ciudad Juarez have many differences that make them clear examples of the
advantage that Texas border cities hold over Mexican border cities.
Crime
In 2010, Ciudad Juarez was one of the most violent cities in all of Mexico with
3,057 murders . Ciudad Juarez became an example of the extent of the drug war
that was occurring in Mexico in the 2000s. Death had become a common
occurrence in Ciudad Juarez. At the height of the drug war in Mexico, between the
years of 2007 and 2012, around 11,078 people were murdered in Ciudad Juarez . In
contrast to Ciudad Juarez, El Paso had the lowest crime rate in the US in 2014 .
According to the Neighborhood Scout website s interactive map, crime rates in the
city of El Paso are for the most part low, but near the border there is a high crime
rate. The higher crime rate found along the border is probably due to the ongoing
drug trade and illegal immigration that occurs along the
The Influence Of Basil In The Picture Of Dorian Gray
The moment that Dorian Gray asked Basil to see his secret, me, being the reader
felt worried for Basil. Their relationship has become less and less close throughout
the years that Dorian has been under the influence of his book and portrait. In
previous chapters Dorian went to extreme extents and threats of violence to keep
the portrait out of vision. Dorian shows Basil the portrait and Basil is appalled. He
is shocked by the appearance of the portrait and says, Christ! What a thing I must
have worshipped! It has the eyes of the devil (169). Through this quote I can see
that Basil is recollecting the times he was obsessed Dorian and is disgusted by it! He

He does not think much of killing Basil and drifts to a deep sleep. The next
morning Dorian is still enraged about Basil s comments and asks his servants to
call his old friend Alan Campbell, an old friend who he has cut ties with. The fact
that Dorian has little to no emotional grieving or shock that he has committed first
degree murder is very shocking and disturbing of me, especially that the person he
killed is his former close friend. Dorian has turned from man to devil, because of
the opportunity of sin. His order to Alan was to exterminate the dead body of
Basil. Alan was very reluctant, which I am not surprised of, because Dorian is
known for causing disaster, and also Alan did not want to be an accomplice of the
murder. However, Dorian made Alan oblige by writing something on a piece of
paper; a deal which Alan could not refuse I suppose. After the deed was done,
Dorian went into his room and noticed blood depicted on his portrait. I am curious
why Dorian is not scared or alarmed at all by the obscenities of his portrait. Since he
is widely known to be evil why does he not choose to revert his
The Fatigue Associated With Working The Night Shift
The fatigue associated with working the night shift was brought into the spotlight
after an aircraft incident that occurred on June 10, 1990. British Airways flight 5390
had just departed from Birmingham International Airport when the aircraft
experienced a rapid pressure loss due to the pilot s windshield blowing out of the
aircraft. This resulted in the pilot being sucked halfway out of the aircraft and another
flight crew member grabbing the pilots belt and holding him from being sucked
completely out while the copilot to take control of the aircraft and land it safely at a
nearby airport. The official findings of the accident investigation linked the
windshield blowout to the wrong size bolts being installed. The bolts were installed
early in the morning hours and the fatigued shift maintenance manager who installed
them didn t recognize that they were the wrong bolts. He thought that the
countersinking on the window was unusually large (Baron, 2009). This is just one
example of mistakes made on night shift due to fatigue. Fatigue is a dangerous
human factor that is present in the aircraft maintenance community.
There are ways to mitigate the risk of fatigue, though. It starts with the airline
companies themselves. Setting a work schedule that doesn t allow workers to work
more than 12 hours will allow their employees an opportunity to get the rest needed.
It is also up to the aircraft maintainers to ensure that their off duty responsibilities don
t interfere

Rhetorical Essay In Sherman Alexie s Superman And Me
In Sherman Alexie s Superman and Me, he uses rhetorical strategies to achieve his
purpose of reaching his audience. He uses analogies to depict something confusing
with something simple to understand. Syntax gives the readers an idea of Alexie
when he was first learning to read. Finally, his emphasis on anaphora allows the
audience to see his relentlessness to keep reading. The use of analogy, syntax, and
anaphora persuades his audience to agree with Alexie s purpose of this essay.
Throughout this essay, Alexie uses an extended analogy. Alexie s analogies help
the reader understand the purpose of a paragraph. He realized that a paragraph
was a fence that held words. The words inside a paragraph worked together for a
common purpose. He compares a paragraph with a fence which brings clarity to
his understanding of a paragraph. From this understanding, he began to think of
everything in terms of paragraphs. For example, Our reservation was a small
paragraph within the United States. My family s house was a paragraph, distinct
from the other paragraphs of Labrets to the north, the Fords to our south and the
Tribal School to the west. He uses this idea that each paragraph is an identity and
inside those identities are smaller ones. Alexie even says that his family is like a
seven paragraph essay, each different but linked by genetics and common
experiences. This allusion allows the audience to see Alexie s point of view on the
world. Syntax gives the readers an idea of Alexie when he was first learning to
read. In the fourth paragraph, he explains on how he started reading. As he was
analogizing the world in paragraphs he began reading that Superman comic. For
him to understand the text he began piecing the pictures together into words. His
use of simple sentences gives the reader a feel to be in his place. Superman is
breaking down the door, he states that was what he was interpreting from the
pictures and then pretended to say those words, Superman is breaking down the
door. With this picture and these words he concludes that Superman is saying
words and those words, I am breaking down the door. Alexie s way of learning to
read relates to other people. These readers could have used elements like
Public Policy Goals For Ip Voice Services Haven
The future of VOIP could also be formed by a lot of politics. As we ve seen, the
various approaches of the EU and therefore the U.S. haven t made any form of
neutral zone during which problems with VOIP readying will be adjudged solely
on their technical deserves. In the U.S., the history of linking social and economic
policies to a network centric read of the globe has caused inevitable confusion as
services become more and more application centric. And up to date steps to
accommodate public policy goals to IP voice services haven t mainly addressed the
massive queries of regulative classification. The implementation of forward looking,
technologically neutral classifications in the European Union has not made the
applying of regulatory discretion immune from political support by dominant carriers.
First, through international consultation. Europe and also the U. S. (much less the
remainder of the planet, as well as the nations of Asia that lead the world in
broadband deployment) need not adopt identical rules. They will leave room for
experimentation. For example, the approach to emergency services need not be
identical perhaps there is a demand for governmental mandate, perhaps for voluntary
(but ubiquitous) business action, perhaps just for government mandated shopper
notice. At the same time, some main principles like access to markets might most
likely need harmonization, as VOIP services move freely across borders. Second, by

Why Death So Much It Feels More Like A Memory
I consider my own mortality quite often. There is a lyric in the musical Hamilton
that reads, I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory. When is it going
to get me? In my sleep, several feet ahead of me? I remember first hearing this lyric
and feeling that it was the only words outside of my own thoughts I had connected
with in a long while. Over the past few years, I have been forced to reckon with my
own mortality more than I believe useful. I have witnessed much deaththroughout
these past couple of years, and I have not always known what to do with it with the
grief, the sorrow, the loss, or the transience.
I constantly feel the impending doom that is my impermanence. I know death is a
part of life I am very painfully aware of this fact. I know that I will someday die,
but what is it that I will leave behind? Will I leave anything behind? I m a
filmmaker, a photographer, a musician I have projects that I am very proud of. But
the question still rings in my ears: Have I done anything valuable? And what does
the world consider valuable? Is their value the same as mine? I find that I do not
know how to shake these questions from my attentions.
I grew up in a Christian community, believing that if you were baptized and
maintained the Bible s standards, then you were saved and being saved meant
heaven after death. However, after one of my best friends passed away, I began to
question mortality, as well as death as a whole. Exactly how strict is

An Artistic Representation of the Sixties Through Across The Universe
Many historical fiction films that we watch fail to depict history in an accurate way
due to the emphasis on entertainment and revenue instead of keeping the integrity of
its historical events. However, some motion pictures stay true to history while
providing entertainment through fictional stories. Although the stories are fictional,
movie writers can craft stories that represent the history, attitudes, and personalities of
a time period in a historically accurate way. A prime example of a movie that is
entertaining and represents history accurately is Across The Universe, directed by

Maxwels Silver Spoon . These are prime examples how the Beatles music influenced
the portrayal of Taymor s characters, but also how the characters represent real
people. Not only does the music represent the characters, but also Taymor integrates
the songs into real historical events. For example, Jojo travels to New York from
Detroit after his little brother was killed in Detroit s 12th Street Riot. The 12th Street
Riot was one of the worst riots in American history; the governor sent the Michigan
National Guard into Detroit, and President Johnson sent the U.S Army to subdue
the riot. The end result was forty three dead, 467 injured, over 7,200 arrests and
more than 2,000 buildings burned down. The scale of the riot eclipsed the 1992
riots in Los Angeles. Through the portrayal of the riot the black community of the
12th street district sing Let It Be . I must note that in analyzing music each song has
different meanings interpretations to each person. However after analyzing Let It
Be , I have found the phrase let it be is about giving up your personal power to a
higher power, which is what the people in the riots and
Inheritance Of Traits Of Fruit Flies
Inheritance of Traits in Fruit Flies
Genetics shows us that we inherit traits in many different ways. A perfect example
to show us the different ways we inherit traits is fruit flies. Fruit flies are
commonly used by scientists to conduct genetic experiments due to their reaction
to the experiment being very quick. Scientists mainly look at how the flies inherit
basic traits such as brown body color, or red eyes(basic trait flies are known as wild
type flies) from their parents, but sometimes they can come across some abnormal
traits. Some of these abnormal traits include having a yellow body color or having
curly shaped wings and have made scientists wonder how the flies have inherited
these specific traits. So how do the flies inherit ... Show more content on

The next row(F2 generation), shows us the offspring numbers of a male and female
from the F1 generation. Those numbers give us a ratio of 1:1:1:1 of 1 wild male to

the same amount offspring for of each type of fly in the F2 generation.

This next table follows a similar skeleton as the one before. The table gives us an
outcome for when we cross the two parents with each other, and then gives us
another outcome by crossing another male and female from the F1 generation(the
first offspring) which creates the F2 generation. So if we look at the numbers for
the F1 generation, we can get about a 2:2 ratio of 2 wild males to 2 wild females.
Then, if we look at the F2 generation we get around a 1:1:2 ratio of 1 wild male to 1
yellow male to 2 female wild. So all of this data tells us that throughout all the
generation, none of the offspring turned out to be female yellow.

The Contamination Of The Marine Environment
Unless an accident or in case of nuclear war, man is relatively protected from direct
radioactive contamination, ie caused by breathing air contaminated by radioactive
bodies. Actually, the current main danger comes from the high degree of biological
concentration of radioactive along the food chain substances. Thus an indirect
radioactive contaminationthat begins with the warehouse in soil and water of
radioactive pollutants from the atmosphere fallen occurs. In animals and plants that
draw their nourishment from the soil and water bodies such focus, transmitting them
to their predators dangerous proportions. In the marine environment it is clearly seen
this phenomenon. Algae often come to have a radioactivity specifies thousand times
higher than the surrounding water, and plankton concentration factor that can
become of 5000. aquatic animals that feed on such organisms can reach
concentrations even more high. Radioactivity in plants focuses on the leaves and
stems more than seeds. It is a factor that hurts herbivores. In the final link in the food
chain, man, cross contamination occurs via the digestive tract after taking
contaminated food or food plant. Milk, for example, is one of the main vehicles for
cross contamination in some countries. This explains why the bones of children,

Adderall And Concerta Comparison
There are many Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) medications in
the pharmaceutical world. All ADHD medications have their differences and
similarities. Two of the most popular and widely used medications to treat ADHD
are Adderall and Concerta. These two medications are very similar in producing
the same effect on a person with ADHD; however, these medications are made
very differently. These medications today are in high demand because the number
of ADHD diagnoses is increasing in people today. As of 2011 11% of children ages 4

Should Assistive Technology Be Disabled Students With...
The reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 1997
and IDEA 2004 provided disabled students with options for assistive technology in the
classroom as well as assistive technology services. It is through these mandates that
Individual Educational Plans (IEP) began to include assistive technologyoptions. The
IDEA 2004 law mandates that assistive technology devices and services be provided
to students with disabilities if the technology is essential for accessing education
related resources. (Dell, Newton, Petroff, 2012, p. 7) The end result is, to make it
possible for the student to access the curriculum that he/she otherwise could not
without the assistive technology.
Assistive technology is any device, aids or services, that substitute or compensate for
an impaired physical or mental ability. (Grand Canyon University. n.d. Lecture 1)
There are a number of assistive technology devices available to use with students.
The members of the IEP team will collaborate to determine the devices, if any, that fit
the needs of the special education student. There is a range of options available,
from low tech devices using no electronics and usually inexpensive, to high tech
devices, that are often computer based and can be expensive. (Dell, Newton,

The Case Of Hines V. Overstock
In the case of Hines v. Overstock the plaintiff Cynthia Hines portrayed a class action
lawsuit against the defendant Overstock.com, Inc. s for charging a restocking fee in
the federal district court in New York. The plaintiff alleged that the defendant
breached the contract when the defendant charged a restocking fee without her
knowledge. The Plaintiff bought an Oxygen 3 Ultra Canister vacuum from
Overstocks website around January 8, 2009. The Plaintiff returned the vacuum to the
Defendant and was refunded the full amount of what she paid, minus a restocking fee
of $30.00. The consumer Cynthia Hines contended that she was not informed the
vacuum could be returned without being subject to any restocking fees or additional
costs. The defendant claims the users of the site agree to the terms of conditions
including restocking fee, arbitration clause, and forum selection clause when they
enter the site. The Plaintiff argued that the link of the terms are found on the bottom
of the pages of the website not making it necessary to view them before she
completed the transaction. There is a basic tenet of the contract law for a binding
contract. The contract has a requirement of meeting of the minds and a manifestation
of mutual assent . The contracts over the Internet do not change the principles of
contracts. The necessity of a valid contract has to have a mutual assent or a mutual
agreement. In addition, the Restatement of Contracts states the other party reaches

The Music Of Music And Music Essay
The same colors of music have been used to paint unique masterpieces throughout
history. From Mozart to Michael Jackson and Beethoven to Bob Marley, the
behaviors of sound melodies, harmonies and chords have been manipulated by
individuals to communicate their soul s message to the masses. The connections
between music from the renaissance to contemporary tunes is quite surprising. The
Beatles weren t the first ones to talk about love, life struggles or heartache. These
have been common themes of everyone s lives since Adam and Eve. Bob Marley
and Michael Jacksontook their own personal experiences and paired it with the
universal language of music to connect with people. Through a multitude of
albums and singles, these two artists created timeless pieces of music, some of
which are still present on the top charts. Although some disagree with the fact that
their music is timeless, by comparing the music of Michael Jackson and Bob
Marley to music that is known as timeless, one can see the direct correlation.
Although good music is completely opinionated, timeless music has been boiled
down to a science. Enrique Rubio, Engineer, Writer and student of music, takes the
lessons conveyed by Mozart and narrows it down to four reasons why he is such a
well known leader in the music world. His inspiration, desire for constant learning,
ability to absorb and adapt knowledge by staying focused and unbiased learning
process are the qualities he has deemed to be timeless
Transatlantic Trade And Investment Partnership
In June 2013 the European Commission and the U.S. government have commenced
negotiations for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), a
proposed free trade agreement between two of world s largest economic and political
partners. If weathered through the political storms, TTIP would replace the North
American Free TradeAgreement (NAFTA) as the world s largest free trade area,
with a combined GDP of $31 trillion. Commonly eclipsed in the public mindset by
the zenith of the emerging markets, BRICS and especially China, U.S. investment
in the Eurozone is actually three times greater than in the whole of Asia, and the
EU investment in the U.S. is an overwhelming eight times greater than that in India
and China combined! The U.S. and EU, aside from the historic legacy of
geopolitical cooperation, are the largest trading partners of most other countries in
the world and represent a third of world trade flows. What s at stake? According to
the Office of United States Trade Representative s report, TTIP would result in the
annual EU GDP growth of 68 to 119 billion euros and U.S. GDP growth of 50 to 95
billion euros by 2027. If shared equally among the affected populations, this growth
would hypothetically translate into additional annual disposable income for a family
of four of 545 euros in the Eurozone and 655 euros in the U.S. respectively. Once
fully implemented, TTIP is expected to increase economic and labour productivity to
The Wonder Woman Analysis
American history is filled with an abundant amount of fictional pop culture icons,
ranging from web slinging vigilantes to detectives in bat costumes. These characters
have not only evolved media and literature, but they have also become a strong
representation of political topics. And, while many characters may have detoured
from their original values and ethics, one has remained a prime example of political
activism, civil rights, and social justice. Diana Prince the Wonder Woman, has a rich

Conflict in the Emerald Isle Essay
Conflict in the Emerald Isle
The island of Ireland is known for many things: St. Patrick s Day, its green landscape,
music, beer, and discord. The heart of this conflict began centuries ago, when Britain
came over and forced Protestantism on the Irish Catholic inhabitants. There has
always been hatred between the Irish Protestants and Catholics. The island is broken
up into to distinct regions. The Republic of Ireland consists of 26 counties, which
make up the southern region. This area is predominantly Roman Catholic. Northern

This upset a majority of the Irish citizens, whom happened to be predominately
Catholic, who felt that they were just that, citizens of Ireland, not subjects of
England. They wanted the right to govern freely without British interference. There
were, however, supporters of this act as well. These Unionists or Loyalists were
made up largely of Protestants. They gladly welcomed the power of the British crown
because they felt that they were truly British citizens not Irish citizens.
While under British rule the Catholics were subjected to discriminating laws such as:
they were not allowed to bear arms, hold public office, and were restricted in their
right to an education. The laws have been lifted the tension still remains between the
Catholics and the Protestants (Ito 1). There were still those who were pushing for
Home Rule and the Protestants vowed to resist the movement with violence (Ito 1).
However this movement never amounted to much.
In 1920 the Government of Ireland Act separated the island into north and south. In
1921 these two sections would become known as the Irish Free State, or the
Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The Republic of Ireland is composed of
the 26 southern counties of Ireland and controlled by the parliament of Ireland. The
remaining 6 counties in the north of Ireland make up Northern Ireland, which is

Research Aim
The primary aim of the research is to assess the impact of product placement on the
sales of a product and determine whether there would be any improvement or
decrement in sales as a result of switching shelf space.
Research Objectives
The objectives of the research are to assess if a product placed in one position on the
shelves is better than it being placed in another position and to see if it is better to
place the product with any other items which can be thought to help improve the
sales. Also, another objective of the research is to understand whether data analysis
can be used to improve the shelf management and whether the inferences from such
data analysis for a number of stores in a single supermarket can be characterized to
be standard across the board or whether the output of such analysis should only be
used in a particular store from which data was collected.
Research Questions
This research will concentrate the efforts on answering the below questions:
1.How does shelf management affect the sales of the product? Whether the sales of a
product which was already selling well, decrease because of a shift in the shelf
space? Or does the sales of a product which was not selling before improve because
of a change in the shelf space?
2.Which position on the shelf space has

benefit the society and their personal development (Raymond and Hall 2008, p. 530)

graduates with minimal knowledge and skills about the outer world and cultures
(Wearing 2001, p. 146). This could potentially lead to generalised views of other
cultures and may even lead to imposing their own culture on others, with or without
intention. It is essential that volunteers are appropriately qualified and prepared so
that they are perceived positively by their hosts and can make a genuine contribution,
rather than simply absorbing time and resources (Raymond and Hall 2008, p. 531).
Without the fundamental material and understanding the plight of people in poor
lands, the promise of good outcomes would be counter productive and may only serve
to imprint power and authority (McGloin, Georgeou 2015, p. 409). Reinforcing the
fact that people in the slums may comprehend the status of visitors and their
dominance over their constructions, which influences their poverty and underpins
their lack of power in society (Raymond and Hall 2008, p. 533). Voluntourism, when
combined with unskilled tourists in this imperialistic world, becomes very
exploitative. In other words, through the modern day practice of voluntourism ideas
of imperialism is still very much alive and present. Voluntourism provides greater
opportunities for interaction and exchange between voluntourists and host

Scene Analysis Of Song At Midnight
Scene Analysis on Song at Midnight: the First Meet of Song Danping and Sun Xiao
ou
The first meeting of Song Danping and Sun Xiao ou in the film Song at midnight is
not only the first exposure of the phantom in the theater after ten years, but also a
turning point of Sun s life. So the scene that Sun goes upstairs to meet the phantom
Song is both an end of the ten year nightmare of Song, and a starting of a new story
of revenge and revolution.
However, the changeover cannot be accomplished at one stroke, which is specially
reflected by the transitions of Sun s attitudes and behaviors: from vacillate, to
touched, then ends up in determined. This scene s duration is more than half an hour
with two long cuts of retrospections about the ordeal happened to Song. We only
focus on the scene in the loft above the theater, and the analysis can ... Show more

We can focus on three plots that assist Sun who finally determines to help Song.
First one is about Sun s reaction after hearing Song s story out. A medium shot shows
they are sitting at the table with different gestures: Sun sits up with his right fist
clenched and left hand clutching tightly again and again; Song leans his right elbow
onto the table with his ugly right hand hanging down the tabletop loosely. Then, not
like the former parts, Song stands up and move to the window slowly and unsteadily,
and Sun follows him proactively. In part 1 and part 2пјЊSun s gestures, including sit
down near the stairs, go to the cabinet and the table, are all forced by Song. The
reason is not only Sun is still in shock but also he doesn t know who the phantom
is. However, in part 3, Sun s movements are all initiated by his own. So when Song
asks Sun to help him to comfort Li Xiaoxia, Song s character changes from a
dominator to a suppliant. To a kindly person, Sun cannot reject
Reliant Stadium Essay
In the City of Houston, the interest in the world of sports has grown to tremendous
heights over the recent years due to winning teams, new teams and new sports
facilities. Among these new facilities is the new reliant stadium, which is home to a
fairly new Houston Texans football team since 2002 and Minute Maid park home of
the Houston Astros. Not long ago, things were much different. Before Reliant stadium
and Minute Maid we had the Astrodome. Instead of the Houston Texans, we had the
Houston Oilers. Both very capable football teams in two different arenas.
The man behind the creation was Judge Roy Hofheinz, who had a very uxorious
apartment built within the dome where he resided. Named the Eighth Wonder of the

NFL football established itself in the Astrodome when the Houston Oilers began
playing all their home games there after the preseason exhibition game with the
Washington Redskins in August of 1968. In 1987 the dome underwent a $100
million renovation, seating was expanded by 10,000 and seventy two luxury boxes
were built, as well as being home of the Houston Astros and Houston Oilers, the
stadium has also hosted the United States Football League Houston gamblers, World
Football League Houston Texans and the University of Houston Cougars. In 1992 the
Republican Party held its national convention at the dome and the Oilers moved to
Tennessee after the 1996 season. The Astros played their last game in the Astrodome
on October 9, 1999, after which they moved to the newly constructed Enron Field to
start the 2000 season, today called Minute Maid Park.
Mickey Mantle hit the first home run at the Astrodome, in an exhibition game
causing the scoreboard to flash tilt . Judy Garland, the Supremes, Bob Dylan, the
Rolling Stones, Elvis and Michael Jackson played concerts there. Ali retained his
heavyweight title and Evil Knievel jumped 13 cars on his motorcycle. Most of the
events were before my time, but these are only just a few big
Why Is Tony Harding Unfair
Everyone here has heard something about the biggest figure skating scandal there
was in the world. Whether you saw the new movie starring Margot Robbie or heard
in recent months on the news about this event that took place twenty years ago. I am
talking about Tonya Harding. She was a curvy, blonde, woman who was rather poor.
Over the many years of her skating career many people in The United States Figure
Skating Association have tried to ostracize Tonya from the skating community
because she chose music she wanted and was different. I think Tonya Hardingwas
tried unfairly because she was not the ideal female skater at the time because of her
weight, because she was female, and because she was poor.
First a little backstory, Tonya Harding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a recent documentary it was noted that anyone who proceeded to skate with
Tonya would have to resign from the United States Figure Skating Association. The
United States Figure Skating Association ostracized Tonya from the rest of the
community. Tonya Harding s relationship with Jeff Gillooly, was an abusive one,
but she kept coming back to him. She says in interviews that he always saying the
right things to get me back, and I d be stupid enough to go back and get beat up
again. Jeff Gillooly was not the only abusive person in her life. Her mother was
also abusive. Tonya Harding came from an abusive family that did not have a lot
of money. Tonya Harding could not afford to get private ice the same as Nancy
Kerrigan did. Even after proceeding to get second place at the 1994 Olympics
Kerrigan made many mistakes such as talking rudely about Oksana Baiul who had
won first place that year. and the Disneyland Parade float she was on calling it
corny and stupid . To today Kerrigan who was an ideal female figure skater was
forgiven for her mistakes that she
The Religion Of African Slaves
African slaves were brought to America from many tribes and they brought with
them a variety of beliefs and practices. In some ways, the religion that many West
Africans practiced bears a striking resemble to the practices of Christianity and
Judaism. There are however several differences that make it clear that it is its own
separate faith. On the plantations in America slaves were taught a modify version of
Christianityso that they would obey their masters, and often times slaves would hold
their own services. Other slaves believed in and practice what was called conjuration
along with Christianity.
The majority of African slaves came from a region that was called West Central
Africa. The people from West Central Africa practiced a religionsimilar to
Christianity, and believed in a single all powerful being that created the world, As
to religion, the natives believe that there is one Creator of all things, and that he
lives in the sun, and is girded round with a belt, that he may never eat or drink; but
according to some, he smokes a pipe, which is our own favorite luxury (Equiano,
1789). In both religions, there is an omnipotent being that requires no substance and
lives above the Earth. In addition, in both religions the Creator controls the events
that occur throughout a person life. In addition, they often offered food to the spirits
of their loved ones who were said to watch over them and protect them from their
enemies. Family would also place sacrifices to

Of Mice And Men Persuasive Essay. Of mice and men essay. - GCSE English - Marked by Teachers.com

  • 1. Of Mice And Men Persuasive Essay Writing a persuasive essay on "Of Mice and Men" can present a unique set of challenges for several reasons. Firstly, the novella itself is rich in complex themes and nuanced characters, requiring a deep understanding and analysis to craft a convincing argument. Exploring issues such as friendship, loneliness, and the American Dream demands a thoughtful approach to present a compelling perspective. Moreover, striking the right balance between summarizing the plot and delving into critical analysis poses a challenge. It's essential to avoid merely retelling the story while ensuring that the analysis is thorough and insightful. Crafting a persuasive thesis that not only encapsulates the central argument but also invites readers to engage with the narrative adds another layer of difficulty. The task becomes even more intricate when addressing the ethical dilemmas and social issues embedded in the storyline. Tackling sensitive topics with finesse and providing well-supported arguments requires a careful and considerate approach. Additionally, weaving in relevant quotes and textual evidence to support one's claims while maintaining the flow of the essay is a skill that demands attention to detail. Furthermore, conveying the emotional impact of the novella and its characters in a persuasive manner is crucial. Connecting with the readers on a personal level while adhering to the conventions of academic writing is a delicate balancing act. In conclusion, crafting a persuasive essay on "Of Mice and Men" requires a comprehensive understanding of the novella's themes, characters, and social context. It demands the ability to analyze complex issues, develop a compelling thesis, and present a nuanced argument. Successfully navigating these challenges will result in an essay that not only persuades but also engages readers in a meaningful exploration of the literary work. • 2. Aristotelian Ethics And Cultural Relativism Each individual justifies their actions and wishes by appealing to various moral principles based on the local or individual conception of the good. In the argument of morality and where are those moral judgments come from, brings us to the central question of ethics, that is What is the good for human beings? More than two thousand years ago, Aristotle gives his answer in Nicomachen Ethicssuggesting that the purpose of morality is to enable us to lead good lives, and it is necessary to acquire virtues to achieve the good. However, this view of ethics based on virtues led to a relativism toward the notion that believes the criteria of ethics is tied up with virtues which the local and individual approves to be good. In other words, the conception of goodness is based on the tradition or custom of the local society/groups or the individual. Therefore, many suggest that the high degree of individualism that was shown in Aristotle s virtues ethics theory proves that he supports cultural relativism. In this paper, I will defend Aristotelian ethical approach based on virtues and refute relativists argument by showing the objections that against the local ethical objectivity. • 3. Sports Fanaticism In Sports Sports fans, also called sports devotees, followers, or supporters, devote themselves to a particular athlete, organization or sport. They may show their enthusiasm by often attending sporting events or watch on television, being members of a fan club, follow athletic news through newspapers, online websites, and create fanzines. They show a certain behavior towards an organization. These behaviors manifest in different ways and show in different types of sports fans. Even though sports fanaticism exists on a spectrum, some forms stick out more than others. Individual types that stick out include the bandwagon, the coach, the trash talker, the blind follower, and the statistician. The bandwagon, the person that sells into the hype of a club. Every sport holds its fair share of bandwagons. Bandwagons only know the popular players on the roster and only watch their team when it is a popular game. Their squad usually never has a losing season and tend to win the championship each year. If a player they like switches to a different organization in the postseason, the bandwagon suddenly supports that organization. When the bandwagon s team wins, they refer to their side as we and calls their side them when they lose. Furthermore, if the bandwagon goes to a game and their team loses, the bandwagon leaves before the game ends and does not talk about the game. A type of fan similar to the bandwagon, the blind follower, roots for whatever team is popular around them. The

The city ziggurat would easily be the most noticeable building in the city, towering above any people visiting their city. They could reach up to 150 ft. high as well! But how did they build these mesmerizing temples? The materials they used, the platform they designed, and the time and effort they spent on the ziggurats made them stand out and be the most conspicuous building in Ancient Babylon. To start the platform, they used Sun baked bricks (made out of straw and mud); because these bricks were sun baked, buildings eventually deteriorated. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They usually had 7 steps upwards and each of them had different dimensions as they got smaller. The first step was 300ft x 300ft and 110ft high. The bricks were set in a mortar, to protect it against flood damage as well. Building the ziggurat took time and effort. Teams of workmen moved huge loads of bricks using sleds on wooden rollers, or carried smaller amounts in baskets on their backs. After the bricks had dried, each of the men had to take their share of bricks up Estrada

There is no more challenging use in this respect than implants in the human body. Here, the effectiveness and reliability of implants, and medical and surgical instruments and devices is an essential factor in saving lives as well as in the long term relief of suffering and pain. Implantation of other metals represents a potential assault on the chemical, physiological and mechanical structure of the human body. There is nothing comparable to a titanium implant in living tissue. Most metals in body fluids and tissue are found in stable organic complexes. Corrosion of implanted metal by body fluids, results in the release of unwanted metallic ions, with likely interference in the processes of life. Titanium is judged to be completely inert and immune to corrosion by all body fluids and tissue, and is thus wholly bio compatible. The natural selection of titanium for implantation is determined by a combination of most favorable characteristics including immunity to corrosion, bio compatibility, strength, low density and the capacity for joining with bone and other tissue, known as osseointegration. The mechanical and physical properties of titanium alloys combine to provide implants which are highly damage

He didn t want to kill the elephant, but now that he held the rifle, he felt that the Burmese had the power and were forcing him along: Here was I, the white man with his gun, standing in front of the unarmed native crowd seemingly the leading actor of the piece; but in reality I was only an absurd puppet pushed to and fro by the will of those yellow faces behind... His own ideals of how shooting the elephant was wrong were overcastted by the Burmese media, who urged him along and condoned the death of the elephant. The Fatigue Associated With Working The Night Shift The fatigue associated with working the night shift was brought into the spotlight after an aircraft incident that occurred on June 10, 1990. British Airways flight 5390 had just departed from Birmingham International Airport when the aircraft experienced a rapid pressure loss due to the pilot s windshield blowing out of the aircraft. This resulted in the pilot being sucked halfway out of the aircraft and another flight crew member grabbing the pilots belt and holding him from being sucked completely out while the copilot to take control of the aircraft and land it safely at a nearby airport. He uses analogies to depict something confusing with something simple to understand. Syntax gives the readers an idea of Alexie when he was first learning to read. Finally, his emphasis on anaphora allows the audience to see his relentlessness to keep reading. The use of analogy, syntax, and anaphora persuades his audience to agree with Alexie s purpose of this essay. Throughout this essay, Alexie uses an extended analogy. Alexie s analogies help the reader understand the purpose of a paragraph. He realized that a paragraph was a fence that held words. The words inside a paragraph worked together for a common purpose. He compares a paragraph with a fence which brings clarity to his understanding of a paragraph. From this understanding, he began to think of everything in terms of paragraphs. For example, Our reservation was a small paragraph within the United States. My family s house was a paragraph, distinct from the other paragraphs of Labrets to the north, the Fords to our south and the Tribal School to the west. He uses this idea that each paragraph is an identity and inside those identities are smaller ones. Alexie even says that his family is like a seven paragraph essay, each different but linked by genetics and common experiences. This allusion allows the audience to see Alexie s point of view on the world. Syntax gives the readers an idea of Alexie when he was first learning to read.
