1. Consumer Behavior Essay
Crafting an essay on consumer behavior is a challenging yet rewarding task that demands a deep
understanding of various psychological, sociological, and economic concepts. The complexity
lies in the need to analyze and interpret the multifaceted factors that influence consumers'
purchasing decisions. This includes delving into psychological theories, examining cultural
influences, and understanding economic principles.
The process begins with extensive research to gather relevant and up-to-date information from
diverse sources. Analyzing scholarly articles, market research reports, and case studies is crucial
to comprehending the intricate dynamics of consumer behavior. Additionally, one must stay
abreast of current trends and evolving consumer preferences to provide a comprehensive and
relevant perspective.
The next hurdle is synthesizing the gathered information coherently, structuring the essay
logically, and presenting a well-argued thesis. Balancing theoretical concepts with real-world
examples is essential to demonstrate a nuanced understanding of the topic. The language used
should be precise and engaging, catering to both academic and general readers.
Furthermore, addressing counterarguments and presenting a balanced viewpoint adds another
layer of complexity. This requires critical thinking skills and the ability to anticipate and counter
potential objections.
Editing and proofreading are indispensable stages in the essay writing process. Ensuring clarity,
coherence, and proper citation is vital to maintain academic integrity. Precision in language,
proper formatting, and adherence to the specified guidelines are crucial elements that contribute
to the overall quality of the essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on consumer behavior demands a combination of research skills,
critical thinking, and effective communication. It requires navigating through a maze of theories,
data, and perspectives to construct a well-rounded and insightful piece. Despite the challenges,

2. History Of Conservation And Preservation Efforts
History of Conservation
Along with Yosemite s natural and human history, there is also an immense history of
conservation and preservation efforts. There have been many failures, attempts, and
successes in conserving the marvelous national park we know as Yosemite. From its
establishment as a national park, to the transfer of the Yosemite Grant to Yosemite
National Park, to the damming of the Hetch Hetchy reservoir, great efforts have been
made to preserve the breathtaking landscape of Yosemite.
Even though Yosemite Valley was legally and officially protected since 1864 by the
passing of the Yosemite Grant, it developed into a cluttered series of roads, hotels,
cabins, and pastures because of remiss state management. John Muir, a ... Show more

Since Muir was a well known writer at this point, Johnson posed the idea that Muir
would become public voice of a campaign created to preserve Yosemite as a national
park.
After returning from their trip to Yosemite, Muir and Johnson started a media
campaign in order to generate public support for their cause: making Yosemite a
national park. Muir wrote two articles for Century Magazine that praised the
captivating beauty of Yosemite and the horrible threats that it faced. They further
increased efforts to make Yosemite a national park by giving speeches around the
country. With the support of the public, Muir and Johnson s tireless efforts finally
payed off. In 1890, Yosemite was appointed a national park.
Despite the designation of Yosemite as a national park, the original Yosemite Grant,
which protected Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove, still remained under the
protection of California. However, the state was not up to the task of maintaining
those two areas. John Muir believed that in order to be truly protected and salvaged,
both Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove needed to be permanently moved to
Yosemite National Park. This time, however, it was a lot more difficult as there was
not as much support from people. Many hotel owners in Yosemite Valley opposed
this idea with great determination because they were afraid that their businesses
would be shut down if the grant was transferred to the federal government.

On January 23, 1989 Ted Bundy confessed to the murder of thirty women before
his execution. He murdered women in Washington State, Oregon, Utah, and
Florida. Bundy was also Peeping Tom, so it would not be farfetched that he would
go around looking in people s windows. The investigation of the disappearances of
college women started with Robert Keppel, was one of the lead detectives on the
case. His first real case was Brenda Ball was the first real case for the detective

An Explanation of the Scientific Importance of the Human Genome Project
The human genome project is an international effort that serves as a possible
solution to the many diseases that affect billions of people worldwide. This project
is a great milestone in the field of genetics as it allows scientists to determine the
sequence of genes in chromosomes which will show where disease causing
mutations are occurring and what can be done to reverse it. Looking back in time,
many of the diseases which could be cured were done by administering drugs and
certain types of therapies. As the complexity of technology as well as advancements
in the understanding of our bodies increased, more diseases became curable through
these very drugs and therapies. However, many times individuals find it hard to deal
with the side effects that these solutions create. The human genome project aims to
make disease and illnesses curable more efficiently and to become readily available to
individuals throughout the world. It is therefore necessary the that society begins to
accept this project as the new frontier in medical treatment and prevention of diseases.
By having a greater investment and understanding in the Human genome Project, the
scientific community will determine more information about DNA to develop
treatment plans, prevention methods, and develop cures to diseases that affect
humans; thus yielding medically important information for society. When attempting
to understand what the
5. The Social Issue Of Ideal Body Image
Body image is an issue known around the world, just like eating disorders, it is
most commonly seen in woman; however, there are men that suffer from this issue
as well. The social issue of ideal body image affects people of all ages regardless of
gender or ethnicity. Body image is the way one sees their own body in their mind,
and they may not feel confident within their own skin, or they may feel unaccepted
in society. A person may feel they might not be skinny enough, big enough, tall
enough, dark enough, ultimately they will feel they are not enough to fit into what
is acceptable in the social order around them. People begin forming rash conclusions
or observations of their own body s attractiveness, health, and appropriateness, in
early childhood. However, for today s ideal body image, it is just another passing
trend that does not reduce the desire children, teenagers, or even adults may have
to follow ideal standards of beauty and attractiveness. Meanwhile because of the
epidemic with body image there has been one half of females and one third of
males as young as six that have engaged in some sort of dietary behavior. Social
influences that can potentially cause people to form ideas about positive and
negative body image can play an important role in the way a person may live their
lives, and such influences can be things such as, family, friends, and social media.

This paper analyzes why and how companies set their international business strategies
with the host nations and the benefits that they have reaped through the years with
their decision. The discussion handles foreign manufacturing strategies with direct
investment and without direct investment, its advantages and disadvantages and how
companies have profited by their decisions in each of the cases. At the end of the
discussion it would be clear that how such business decisions play a vital role in the
growth of the companies both in home and host countries
.
2.Background
For the analysis, the focus is on two companies, Tesco and Yoplait who have chosen
two different business strategies for their global business expansion. Tesco, one of
the world s largest retailer, UK based supermarket chain expanded its global
operations in Asia. It joined hands with Samsung, a well established Korean retailer,
and started its Korean operations under the well known Homeplus brand. In 1999 it
went ahead with its foreign direct investment and opened business centers in Korea.
They were able to sustain and grow in the Korean market (Klimes, 2014). On the
other hand, Yoplait is a France based Yoghurt. It franchised its operation in US and
later throughout Europe with US based consortium, General Mills. It is jointly
owned by General Mills and Sodiaal, a French cooperative diary unit (Bloomberg
Businessweek, 2014). Both Tesco and Yoplait have shown diversification in their
7. The Flavored Of Music And Exercise
Concoction of Music and Exercise Music has a greater impact in our lives than we
realize. Music is everywhere we go and is listened to on a daily basis, which affects
us in different ways. Music is incorporated into different aspects of living such as a
work environment, sports games, while studying, in the car, or while doing exercise.
Incorporating music into exercise has been proven to make exercising in any
environment more fun, boost one s mood, increasing motivation, and varying heart
rate depending on the tempo of music. Music and exercise increase the brainactivity,
along with facilitate in the motor development of a child. In today s world, music is
used to help facilitate one s gaining knowledge of self, others, and the world. The
brain grows into two hemispheres, and music plays a crucial role in the neurological
development of a child. From an early age, music helps naturally develop a child s
communication, expression, and cognition (Yoon 9). Frank Wilson, a well known
neurologist, stated that music more fully involves brain functions in both
hemispheres than any other activity. The hemispheres of the brain work together
when emotions are stimulated, attention focused, and motivation heightened, which
happen when music is being played; music synchronizes the right and left
hemispheres of the brain. When listening to enjoyable music, electrical activity is
seen in brain regions responsible for coordinating movement, including the
supplementary motor area,

Gladiator fights are one of the most crucial parts of Roman history. It shows the
livelihood of Roman people. It was one of their most important sources of
entertainment. When life was bad it took their minds off everything. What makes
you feel better than two people beating the crap out of each other until the victor has
killed the other. To make it real exciting lets throw a lion in it and see who wins.
Two men ready their weapons. They square up, not knowing if today will be their
last. The two men battle to the death until the victor arises. If the crowd was amused

Vespasian. Many great spectacles were held in this place. It is 615 feet long and 510
feet wide. It takes up a total of about 6 acres total. It still stands today and is one of
our most important monuments.
Why it is important
To me gladiator fighting is very important to our past. It showed how barbaric
people were and what they would do for fun. They did not have tv s. Gladiator
fights were all they had for entertainment. It also was used to show the cruelty and
power of their Emperor. Its very interesting how people can turn war into a game.
And have a whole empire go watch it.
why I chose it
I chose gladiator fighting because it is so interesting. There is so much background
about it that I barely skimmed the top. I know how cruel and wrong it was. But
imagine watching one of those. Nothing else is closer to life and death then that. It
would be an adrenaline rush watching one of those fights.
Now imagine if you were a fighter in the games. Fighting for your life for a living.
Everyday not knowing if it will be your last. Fighting a man that holds your life in
his hands. It is a scary thing to think about. In my opinion gladiator fighting is
awesome. Though it is a bad thing. Much can be learned by

10. The Use Of Endurance And Strength Training On Both
Cycling...
Triathlon is a multi discipline endurance event consisting of swimming, cycling and
running. Triathlon distances can vary, ranging from sprint distance; 750m swim,
20km cycle and 5km run, up to Ironman distance; 2.4mile swim, 112 mile cycle and
26.2 mile run. (Bentley et al, 2008)
The physiological demands of Triathlon are aerobic endurance and muscular strength.
High Vo2 maxis a good indicator of superior performance in endurance athletes.
(Millet et al, 2003) Triathletes tend to have a high maximum oxygen uptake, with
mean Vo2 max values of 52.4 to 72 ml/kg/min in men, and 58.7 to 65.9ml/kg/min in
women whilst running on the treadmill. (O Toole et al, 1989) Strength contributes to

(Price and Donne, 1997) Gonzalez and Hull (1989) showed that seat height, angle,
cadence and shoe pedal position are related to power output. The most efficient seat
height is 100% of trochanteric height in relation to Vo2. (Nordeen Synder, 1977)
Triathlon generally train on average 20 hours per week. (Bentley et al, 2008)
Nutritional demands for triathletes are eating sufficient carbohydrates and hydration.
Recommended amounts of carbohydrates that endurance athletes should consume are
1.0 1.1g/min. Carbohydrate intake for Ironman triathletes was between 1.2 1.5g kg
/h on the cycling stage and 0.6 0.8g kg/h on the run stage. (Kimber et al, 2002)
Intense exercise can be sustained for long periods of time; this is only if there is
sufficient carbohydrate available to provide the athlete with energy. (Coyle Coggan,
1991) Athletes need to continuously take on energy throughout their races, if not they
can suffer from glycogen depletion which causes fatigue (Jeukendrup,2011) Athletes
will be losing a lot of fluid thorugh sweat and therefore may become dehydrated if not
correctly hydrating, which can affect performance. Speedy et al (2001) found that
despite athletes taking on fluid throughout a triathlon race, there was still an average
weight loss of 2.5kg. Similar results were found after the Ironman Triathlon in 1996,
where athletes had an average weight loss of 2.1kg.
11. Analysis Of Literary Analysis In Ulysses By Lord Alfred...
Literature and poetry in particular have the potential to make profound impressions
on their readers. In the poem Ulysses by Lord Alfred Tennyson, the speaker Ulysses
argues for his mariners to come back out to sea. Karen Prior s article How Reading
Makes Us More Human argues how reading makes one more human. On the other
hand, Tennyson makes his argument through Ulysses, as he talks to his mariners
while Prior makes her argument to teachers of higher of education. While Tennyson
and Prior both use rhetorical situations to persuade their audiences, Prior connects
to her audience better by citing compelling and exhaustive research, eliciting
sympathy from her audience through her narrative voice, and establishing her
credibility by using personal examples and research. Prior s uses captivating
evidence in her article in order to persuade the audience that reading makes one
more human. For example, Prior takes research from psychologists from York
University and University of Toronto which states [people] who read fiction appear
to be better able to understand other people, empathize with them and view the
world from their perspective (para. 2). With the use of notable research, the reader
starts to question if reading does make one more human. Prior then goes on to use
research done by the director of the Center for Reading and Language Research. The
director Maryanne Wolf states, the fragility of the brain s ability to read with the kind
of sustained attention that

13. Analysis Of The Meursault

Meursault Portrays a Teenager As I stood overlooking the edge of a steep,
mountainous cliff, I noticed the waves gradually growing taller. In Hawaii, on this
particular day, the waves seemed choppier than normal. Out of fear, I
automatically associated the bottom of the cliff with death. On the other hand, my
friend had a different mentality. Her eyes glistened as she gazed down. I could see
her eagerness to dive straight into the ocean. Without even holding her breath, she
was gone. However, her decision was not surprising to me. Like my friend, many
teenagers live a day to day basis by sayings such as, life s too short and you can
never get second chance. These mottos often cling to juveniles, causing them to make
rash and careless decisions. In today s day and age, teenagers are the one group of
people that portray this reckless behavior. Although frowned upon in society,
existentialism is commonly found in many pieces of literature. This theory usually
highlights man s existence with society and the world. Like teenagers, the characters
in these books and stories are usually displayed as emotionless and disconnected to
the world. In The Stranger, by Albert Camus, the protagonist, Meursault, perfectly fits
the image of an existentialist. In this book, Camus creates realistic scenarios that
Meursault undergoes, however, wants each reader to react differently to Meursault s
actions. The language of the novel is abrupt
14. Technical Support For Emerging Meat Industry Technology
Background
Carne Technology was formed in 2004 the main function of this industry is to
provide technical support to emerging meat industry technology. The word Carne is
a derived from Latin word which means meat. Carne technologies initial focus was
on the applying the technology on beef and lamb later the technology was applied to
venison, pork, goat and poultry. It has expanded in the year 2006 by having research
and development laboratories, due to its progress they have further expanded the
business by having the workshops for the electronic facility and the small engineering
where the quality and the tenderness of the meat is tested by using the new technology
that in invented by the scientist of Carne Technologies. The primary focus of crane
technology is on the development of carcass and meat processing technologies to
improve the meat quality and the efficient processing. They are based in Cambridge
NZ their clients are through Australasia, USA and UK there technologies widely
used in NZ and now throughout the world. They use the electrical appliances in meat
processing for the electrical stimulation of carcasses to enhance the tenderness, to
reduce the blood splash, to ensure the operator safety and to reduce bleeding time.
Carne technology examines the subject from the time they are graced till the time
they are slaughtered and packed. Here we are giving some recommendations to how
packaging can be improved by reducing the time taken and increasing the efficiency
15. Botticelli s Influence On The Renaissance
I was assigned Botticelli, one of the great masters from the Early Renaissance.
Botticelli was known for his highly realistic, especially for the time, religious
paintings and being a member of the Golden Age art movement in the 15th century.
He utilized a style known as Gothic Realism where flight of fancies and interpretation
were not taken on the works of art, but rather accurately depicting scenes with
realistic surroundings and figures were what was optimal to translate to the viewers.
It could be said that the study of the antiques that Botticelli did that influenced his
work, influenced the whole Renaissanceperiod as we saw much more evidence of
realism taking a role into paintings, sculptures, etc. Unlike many masters, which he

These were just a few of his pagan paintings before the Bonfire of the Vanities
where he began focusing on Christian paintings. I wanted to depict another pagan
myth, the story of Persephone the Queen of the Underworld, as this was the
subject matter I enjoyed most from Botticelli. Originally I wanted to depict the
anatomy of a goddess by creating an incision in Persephone s stomach revealing an
avocado inside, originally a pomegranate to stay in theme of the myth, as she stood
posed naked that was common in older paintings of naked god like figures. I chose
to work in pastels for this project as it most closely resembled tempra, both being
oil based. I began by emulating his style by prepping the work with an
underdrawing and painting to get the finer details, such as the hyper realistic
flowing hair that was common to his paintings of women, as well as making the
whole background pure black which was similar to his portrait paintings. After that
was complete I began laying down another layer of detailing with different vibrant
colors that I saw in his paintings such as orange, yellow, and pink. Finally I laid
down the thin base layer for the skin and hair and began smudging everything with
tissue and q tips to get the softer look that was common to his paintings. Ultimately I
m not particularly proud of this piece but I don t hate
16. Metaphors In The Workplace
Farming and banking have more in common metaphorically than one would think.
While making a list of common metaphors used in my workplace, many of the
metaphors used on a daily basis involve farm animals, tending animals, and crops. For
example, don t count your chickens before they hatch (make realistic business plans,
don t assume), it all starts with a single seed (business marketing starts with a single
idea), tend your cattle (know, support, and monitor your business). Throughout this
short piece, I will share the most used metaphor in my workplace, the climate this
metaphor creates, and the strength and weakness of the metaphor in relation to
banking and lending. First and foremost, my workplace environment is a commercial
lending department, within a small community bank. My department focuses on
lending to small businesses. The most commonly used metaphor in my workplace is
don t put all of your eggs in one basket . We use this metaphor when discussing new
and growing businesses because often times entrepreneurs are counting on many
different variables aligning perfectly. For example, startups create revenue projections
based on a certain number of customers or products... Show more content on

Of course, the borrower presents the best possible scenario for their business. It is
our job to review all possibilities positive and negative. Therefore, the metaphor don

theories to account for the best and worst possible scenarios. This metaphor also
creates an environment that educates employees and consumers. Employees learn
more about different businesses and possible business forecasts. While borrowers
learn the need for diversification and planning for low income months. Overall, the
metaphor examines and teaches not only employees but borrowers as

These symptoms also differ in children and adults. Being more prevalent in children,
they can experience symptoms such as abdominal bloating, chronic diarrhea,
vomiting, constipation, weight loss, fatigue, irritability, dental enamel defects,
delayed growth and puberty, short stature, ADHD, etc. Adults, on the other hand, are
less likely to experience any digestive symptoms, only one third of adult patients
experience diarrhea. As opposed to digestive symptoms, adults are more likely to
experience unexplained iron deficiency anemia, fatigue, bone/joint pain, arthritis,
osteoporosis, liver and biliary tract disorders, depression or anxiety, peripheral
neuropathy, seizures, migraines, missed menstrual periods, infertility or recurrent
miscarriages, canker sores inside the mouth, and dermatitis herpetiformis.
There are three different classifications of celiac disease. There is classical, non
classical, and silent celiac disease. Classical celiac disease patients have the signs
and symptoms of malabsorption, and weight loss/failure to grow in children. Non
classical celiac disease patients have mild gastrointestinal symptoms, and the signs of
malabsorption are not as clear, or the patient might show seemingly unrelated
symptoms. Lastly, silent celiac disease is also known as asymptomatic celiac disease.
Patients don t complain of any symptoms, but the body will be taking

St. Peter s Basilica and La Sagrada Familia are structures with amazing architecture,
but they are much more than just a structure. Both basilicas tell a story about not
just the architects and their interests of certain architectural styles, but also about
the history and story of Catholicism. La Sagrada Familia and St. Peter s Basilica
are not often compared due to the time in which they were built, as well as due to

Peter s Basilica are architecturally different, yet they both unite those people who put
their faith in the Catholic Church and into the hands of God by using these structures

basilicas and cathedrals built in the Gothic style. He brings together new ways of
architecture and construction that make La Sagrada Familia such an interesting and

19. Burnout Literature Review
In the article The Calm Before the Storm? Burnout and Compassion Fatigue Among
Undergraduate Nursing Students by Barret Michalec, Cynthia Dienfenbeck and
Margaret
Mahoney, the researchers conducted a study to understand the experiences of
undergraduate nurses and their reasons for burn out (2013). The study took place at
The University of Deleware
School of Nursing. The study had 436 BSN students which included 123 freshmen,
98 sophomores, 97 juniors, and 118 seniors. The racial breakdown of the subjects
were 85% white,
5% were black, 3% were Latina. The study was mostly made up of females at 93%.
The
Professional Quality of Life scale was used for the students to rate their compassion
fatigue ,
PTSD and burnout levels. It was concluded that the students reported average levels
of burnout and compassion fatigue. Although there was not a significant result in
their burnout it suggests the question to further research why nurses, later on, report
higher levels of PTSD and burnout (Michalec, et.al, 2013)
Part III Every nurse will experience trauma, this is unavoidable. There is not a single
nurse that that not experienced a traumatic or a stressful situation. However, there is

In the movie Captain America: Civil War there is a lot of conflict between Captain
America and Tony Stark/Iron Man. They were fighting over if the should sign the
Sokovia Accords. If they do sign it they will be unable to go into a fight unless the
UN allows them to, they will be like a dog on a leash. If they don t sign it they will
have to retire but they will be able to go and fight to save the city. I choose the side
Tony Stark is on because he wants to keep the Avengers under control and not allow
them to go out and destroy the cities that there fighting in. Tony Stark is the one that
wanted to sign the Sokovia Accords. Why Tony wants to sign it, is because he doesn

IM faithfulfriendsanimalhospital.com Content Neuter
The decision to neuter a pet doesn t come easy for some people in Colorado
Springs, but there are a wide range of excellent reasons to consider this procedure.
Neutering is an irreversible procedure that prevents a dog or cat from reproducing,
but it can also improve your pet s health, safety and their quality of life. When you
neuter your pet, you will be doing your part to help control the homelessness crisis
for pets, which ultimately results in millions of healthy animals in the United States
being euthanized each year, because there simply isn t enough housing for all of the
animals. Here are just a few of the reasons why you should take your pet to the
veterinarian to be neutered. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It will also help lower his risk of prostate problems, such as prostate enlargement.
Taking your pet to the veterinarian to be neutered will eliminate the risk of him
getting testicular cancer, and testicular torsion, which is a painful, life threatening
condition. By having your pet neutered, you may be increasing his lifespan studies
have shown that neutered pets live as much as 3 years longer than pets who have not
been neutered.
Benefits of Neutering
As difficult as it be to make a veterinary appointment for neutering, there are several
benefits that come with the procedure. Neutering has been shown to reduce
aggressive behavior in some males and it reduces the tendency for them to roam. By
eliminating or significantly reducing your pet s natural instincts to roam, you will be
protecting him from accidental injuries resulting from encounters with other animals
or vehicles. It is offers peace of mind in knowing that neutering can reduce the
possibility of temporarily or permanently losing your pet.
Neutered animals may still mark their territory, but many people report that the
procedure significantly reduces or completely eliminates marking/spraying inside the

I ve been writing essays and papers for at least six years with several of the years
writing an average of an essay weekly. My writing is definitely not perfect. It leaves
numerous improvements to be desired, but the practice I ve had has left me with
several characteristics that I greatly appreciate about my writing. Likewise, while
taking Writing 122 this term, there are various improvements that I desire to make
in my writing as we dive into the finer aspects of persuasive writing and
argumentation. Writing is an incredible skill and there are parts of it that I feel I do
well in. One part of writing I feel I have accomplished is the organization,
particularly in shorter papers. Excellent organization requires an introduction, body,
and conclusion, all of which I strive to include in all of my writing. As well being
organized in my writing, my punctuation is generally accurate and I seek to always
include an excellent first sentence that grabs at the reader s attention. I love using
interesting words and phrases to breathe life into my message. Like colorful threads,
when woven together with mastery, each word contributes to the final masterpiece....

The first area I would like to improve is in my argumentation and persuasive
writing ability. Novelist Edward Bulwer Lytton once wisely stated, The pen is
mightier than the sword , emphasizing the power in carefully placed words and
effective writing. To be able to clearly lay out a case and opinion before the reader,
argue it persuasively and reinforce it with research and evidence is a skill I hope to
sharpen. I desire to improve the communication of my thought and produce a
beautiful flow in my writing that doesn t leave the reader tripping through the
potholes on his way to the grand
23. Consequences Of The Mfecane
Introduction
Question
What was responsible for The Mfecane?
This project will present research proving that there was a chain of events that
triggered and lead to The Mfecane. The Mfecane was a warfare tribes and
communities. The events leading to the 1815 1840 war are based on the Zulucentric
Theory, the Slave Theory and the climatic crisis that plagued Southern Africaat the
time. In contrast to this, this analysis will revel what lead up to The Mfecane and the
domino affect of the consequences that caused The Mfecane.
Summary of evidence
Source A is summary of the different types of slaves found during 1658 to 1806
when the British ended slave trade. There were company slaves that cut timber,
worked on the harbour on building and in gardens. Farm slaves that worked on
vineyards and pressed grapes for wine. There were also Town slaves that were owned

It was an event of major historical importance and brought about destruction upon life
and property. It led to a great redistribution of people and changed tradition, political
and social structures The Mfecane was based on many events but mainly caused by
the Zulu kingdom, the drought that plagued southern Africa at the time and the slave
disruptions.
Food shortages and a lack of resource were blamed on the population growth and
mainly on the climatic crisis. The decline of rain and the droughts caused disruptions
and suffering. People fought over grain , cattle and water. The growing competition
for limited resources led to tribe s becoming more centralized and created friction.
The mahltule drought caused the most suffering
Furthermore the slave theory stated by Juilan Cobbing argued that the outside
pressures and intrusions were disrupting the entire area. It led to tensions between the
different tribes when the process was carried out by the

Cultural Assimilation of Latino Immigrants in the United States Latino immigrants
have always had many obstacles when coming into the United States, the difference
between the American and the Latin cultures is what has caused a huge hurdle that
immigrants have found hard to overpass. This obstacle has caused many generations
to go through cultural assimilation. Mize et al. (2012) explain that cultural
assimilation is the adaptation of immigrants to unfamiliar cultural patterns, which
include language and the value systems of other cultures. In order for immigrants to
be successful in another country, which is not of their origin; they need to learn how
to assimilate to their new homes. Immigrants have learned that they need to adapt in
order to get to experience new opportunities and also to learn from new cultures that
are not theirs (Mize et al., 2012). Immigrants have learned that they are not leaving
behind their own believes and norms, but mixing their norms, this gives them the
opportunity to create and mix their culture with the new. Cultural assimilation can be
hard to achieve because in one hand it is important to change in order to live within a
different culture, but on the other hand it is important for a person to maintain their
identity regardless of where they live. At times immigrants find it difficult to achieve
a balance and for many families it is a struggle over generations. There are different
levels of assimilation, some immigrants come to the

27. Bilbo Baggins, An Unlikely Hero
Bilbo Baggins, An Unlikely Hero Heroes are made by the path they choose, not the
powers they are graced with (Ashton, 92). Specific characteristics come to mind when
one envisions are hero, such as extraordinary strength and great courage. Heroes most
commonly receive recognition for notable talents and remembered for their
astonishing deeds and accomplishments. For example, Superman possesses
superhuman strength, speed, and the ability to fly, qualities most frequently
associated with heroes. However, not all heroes fit this model. Just a small hobbit
from The Shire, Bilbo Bagginsdoes not possess any great strengths or abilities, and
many would view Bilbo as the antithesis to Superman. In J.R.R Tolkiens, The Hobbit,
Bilbo Baggins portrays an unlikely hero due to his small size and stout
appearance, his cowardly personality, and his tendency to appear as an onus to the
group. However, through his actions of bravery, Bilbo demonstrates that anyone,
no matter what size or shape, can perform heroic deeds. A hero possesses the
mentality of a person of great courage and ability. Most associate heroes with
extraordinary physical strength and special talents and abilities, such as Anglo
Saxon hero, Beowulf. The Hobbit, depicts a well known hobbit from The Shire,
Bilbo Baggins. Located in Middle Earth, the Shire houses a population of hobbits.
One might not associate a hobbit with the physical appearance of a hero because
hobbits represent the antithesis of a hero s
28. Andrew Carnegie s Impact On The Industrial Revolution
In the movie, The Richest Man in the World, Andrew Carnegie played a major role in
influencing the Industrial Revolution, which changed the economy of the US and the
world forever. This era brought upon significant changes through economic
developments that would not only change the ways of the economy but also the
social aspect of society, especially within the cities where this growth was located.
The shift from hand made to machine made products increased productivity and
decreased costs. Through the innovations of the new forms of energy, such as iron,
and then steel, establishments of factories began, competition between businessmen
arose, and innovations of transportation in the city through railroads and bridges
developed. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also made production easier, faster, and cheaper since workers made an abundant of
products within a short amount of time. Mass production in factories was possible
because of the invention of machineries, leading to products being made without
costing businesses as much money compared to if the products were hand made.
Because products were made in factories, this also caused retail prices of the
products to decrease while there was always accessibility for the supplies. The
establishment of large corporations replaced small businesses, which was good news
for the wealthy but bad news for individuals who owned their own small stores.
On the other hand, because of the establishment of factories by businessmen, the
workers lives became hard as they faced unfair working conditions in dirty and
small working places. They worked long hours with no break. The machines used in
factories were also very dangerous and led to workers enduring injuries. Unskilled
labor did not even require training. During the Industrial Revolution, child labor
became common since it was cheaper to have children working. Instead of earning
an education, children started working as early as 8 years old. Also, factories
produced pollution within the cities because of all the coal that was being used for
power, leading smoke to contaminate the air. People became sick and even
29. The Power Of Macbeth
Who has the most power? Imagine doing whatever it takes to make it to the top.
Would you risk it all? Or would you play it safe? In Macbeth, Shakespeare makes
control a demand for all of the characters. Macbeth is the thane of Glamis who is
killing to have another title. He goes to extreme measures to become the king of
Scotland. His wife, Lady Macbeth, wants this just as much and she tries to
manipulate his actions to gain control over him. After the death of Duncan, Malcolm
and Macduff flee to another country which makes them look like suspects and
Macbeth has an advantage over the title as king. After Macbeth becomes king both
him and his wife encounter a downfall that causes both of them to die with a guilty
conscious. All of the characters want to get to the top of the social class but only a
few will go to the extreme to get there. Macbeth has the most power throughout the
whole play because even when things became pathetic for him he always knew he
was in charge of his own destiny. In the play, The Three Witches possess partial
blame for the outcomes during the story. Also known as The Weird sisters, take
control over Macbeth in different aspects with their prophecies. In document D it
states that Macbeth visits them only to find out the different predictions that they
have made for him. Within the document it states Macbeth asking Whate er thou art,
for thy good caution, thanks.... (Document D), showing that they had some control
over the actions of Macbeth
30. Fair Apportionment In The United States
Ever since the first democratic election of 1950, Turkish people have proven high
interests in elections. The lowest participation was in 1973 with 66.82 percent and
highest participation in 1987 with 93.38 percent (IDEA). Despite the high voter
turnout rate, their votes have not been represented equally. The apportionment
method used have not been fair. Apportionment deals straight with the amount of
political power granted to citizens living in different areas. A fair apportionment
method would grant each citizen equal amount of political power despite their
locations. It is however, difficult to apportion in accordance with the principle of
equal vote value. The apportionment problem arises due to the rounding problem. In
formal statement, apportionment problem involves a group of states with some
populations (p1, p2, ..., p3), and a whole number of a seats to distribute.
Apportionment distributes a whole number of seats to each state where the sum of
the distributions equal to the total number of seats (Young 2004). It is expected that

It used conventional rounding instead of rounding down. Webster s method does not
violate any of the apportionment paradoxes, yet it can rarely violate quota criterion.
In 1941, Huntington Hill method was adopted and is still being used today. The
Huntington Hill method is almost identical to Webster s method (Hodge Klima).
Unlike Webster s method, Huntington Hill method uses geometric mean as cutoff for
rounding quotas. If the quota is greater than the geometric mean of the two nearest
whole numbers, round the quota up, otherwise round it down. If the total number of
seats allocated is too large or small, increase or decrease the divisor to apportion the
exact number of seats. For a quota like 5.482, Huntington Hill method would take the
geometric mean (sqrt(5*6)=5.477) and round it up to 6 because the quota is greater
than the geometric

The next argument is that we simply cannot afford it. The United States put an
average of 663.4 billion dollars per year from 2010 to 2015 into our military
(Davies, 2015). For a comparison the Chinese who have the world s second largest
military spent around 145 billion in 2015 (Wong, Buckley 2015). If we can afford
to put hundreds of billions of dollars into our military each year then why can t we
afford to educate the future workers and professionals of America? There is no need
for that much spending on our military and it can be moved from the military into
education in order to make higher education more affordable. Critics are focusing
only on one of the major issues, which is the issue of money and they are completely
ignoring the ideological issues. Education is extremely important and is necessary in
order for people to support themselves and their country. Education is a fundamental
human right that is necessary in order to promote individual freedom and exercise
other rights (United Nations). Education is a necessity in America but has time goes
on it is getting far more difficult to obtain. Education benefits not just the individual
who is obtaining the education but it is a public good and an investment in our
collective future as a country (Applebaum, 2014). A
32. The Full Scope Of Human Life
Humans are an interesting species because of the strong need humans have to fully
understand what it truly means to be human. Many fields such as history, psychology,
and sociology all offer a perspective in the study of humanity, but there are
distinguishable from anthropology. Anthropology differs from other humanities
fields due to its holistic nature, comparative research methods, and the strong
emphasis on fieldwork and participant interaction. Anthropologyis the study of people
throughout the world, their evolutionary history, how they behave, adapt to different
environments, communicate and socialize with one another. In order for
anthropologists to examine the full scope of human life, they employ the four field
approach that embodies the holistic nature of the field.
The four subfields of anthropology are physical anthropology, archeology, linguistic
anthropology, and cultural anthropology. Physical anthropology examines the
evolution of humans and their variability, and adaptations to their environment due to
natural selection. Archeology is the historical examination of human life through
remnants or artifacts of human past. These artifacts can be used to reconstruct human
behavior before written records or to explore the more recent past of humans.
Linguistic anthropology studies how language influences social life in the past and
present. Cultural anthropology is the branch of anthropology that focuses on the
cultural variations among humans and their

The Dual Nature of the Progressive Era
One common misconception is to view the Progressive movement as a unified core
of reform minded crusaders dedicated to improving the social welfare of American
society. While this viewpoint is not entirely incorrect, it is only a partial and thereby
misleading assessment of the movement that categorized the early part of the
nineteenth century. What some may fail to appreciate is the duality of the period the
cry for social welfare reforms juxtaposed against the demand for optimum efficiency
through scientific controls.
Theoretically the two movements were compatible in nature, and under certain
circumstances, perhaps even mutually dependent upon one another. One could argue

The humanitarian wanted to use government to pass stronger health and safety
regulations; they saw science as a means to eradicate poverty and disease, and as
professionals they sought to bring social order through the uplifting of the oppressed.
They were the champions of educational programs for the immigrant, social welfare
programs for the impoverished and improved health care for both. As humanitarians
they sought to promote orderliness by investing in America s greatest resource its
children.
In contrast, the proponents of scientific management wanted to use the government
to impose order through an interlocking pattern of rigid rules and laws. As
engineers they too saw science as the panacea for the nation s ills; however, their
vision was one of a scientifically planned community, free of wasteful spending and
unnecessary expenditures. The scientific managers pictured society operating as a
well oiled, highly efficient, economic machine ran by a team of educated nonpartisan
experts. As professionals they were convinced that they possessed the necessary
knowledge to reduce inefficiency and waste; therefore, it was up to them to impose
social order upon a corrupt and often unruly populace. No two individuals epitomize
these divergent views of Progressivism better than Jane Addams and Frederick Taylor.
Like most Progressives, Jane Addams was a strong supporter of science. She saw it

Ever since, I wondered whether this impression was correct. The goal of this thesis
is to satisfy this curiosity and to determine, through textual and visual analyses, if the
1986 television series also carries a Confucian message, or whether it was solely
produced for entertainment purposes. This leads to the following research question:
How does the 1986 television series Journey to the West convey the novel s original
Confucian message, and what does this suggest for its production purposes?
I argue that authors and producers often attempt to impose their own set of cultural
and political ideologies on its audience through a certain depiction of right and
wrong. In this manner, works of fiction might influence, perhaps even alter, the
ideologies of the audience.[3] Accordingly, analyzing the depiction of ideologies in
media content can serve as a basis for further research on if and how producers intend
to influence their audience.
This particular case of Confucianism in the 1986 Journey to the West television series
is especially interesting, due to China s socio political setting of that time. The
influence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on media content[4] combined
with its usage of Confucianism to secure its own right to rule[5] make the Journey to
the West television series the perfect medium to promote Confucianism to the masses.
The enormous popularity of Journey to the West

Knowing about the writer of a literary text can shape significantly the way that it is

Honour of Katharina Blum.
As a writer of fiction Böll was interpreting history, creating patterns of meaning,
ordering his material to enable his reader to make sense of it. The experiences of
Böll and his values that arose from these events have been influential on the content

In Böll s eyes,
After the experience of the trade crisis, of being at the mercy of economic forces,
now came the experience of being at the mercy of political forces, which was almost
worse, since you could get used to the former and somehow do something for
yourself, but there was nothing you could do about the other.
Böll found it especially distressing that the people who could have best afforded
to resist the rise of fascism, for example the university professors, did so little. In
The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum, Böll s attitude of contempt for the Nazi s
can be viewed in the lack of interrogation of Konrad Beiters, Konrad Beiters
voluntarily admitted to having once been a Nazi and that alone explained why so
far no one had paid any attention to him . Konrad is the only character close to
Katharina who is not questioned by the police and this shows the right winged
political stance that West Germany still had in 1974 and the misuse of authority by
powerful people in social institutions such as the media and the police, especially
men.
In 1949, Germany was divided into the Federal Republic of Germany (West
Germany) and the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). Böll was living in
West Germany at the time and this is where The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum is
set. West Germany was allegedly the democratic, capitalist sector whereas East
Germany was governed with communist ideologies. Great paranoia was present in
West Germany about East Germany because

41. Examples Of Social Injustice In Prisons
Social Injustice in Prison Systems in the United States The United States makes up
5% of the world population, yet somehow houses 25% of the world s prison
population (Incarceration). In the United States, people are incarcerated at a much
higher rate than other countries because of social disparity. African American males
in their mid 20s living in the U.S. with little money, little schooling, and little work
experience are most likely to be sought after, not only because of the crimes they have
committed, but because of the inferences made about them and the prejudice against
them. In the United Statesprisonsystem, there is major discrimination within the
population of inmates and those arrested based upon their race, gender, and economic
opportunities, leading to instability and inequality throughout the prison system.
Racial injustice is perhaps the most common bigotry among citizens in the United
States because of the history between several races and because of narrow
mindedness within the population. Although slavery in the U.S. ended over 150
years ago, several groups and organizations till outwardly believe that African
Americans are inferior to other races and therefore discriminate against them. This
causes many problems among the African American community because before they
have even done anything wrong, they are judged for who they are. There have been
countless acts of racism with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who are part of a race, gender, or economic class that is discriminated against
are more likely to receive harsh punishment for crimes lesser than those of other
social indicators. African Americans are judges based on their skin color, males on
their genetic makeup, and those who are poor on their economic opportunities. This
has led to the extreme corruption of prison systems in the United States, leaving
certain social groups hopeless and inferior in the eyes of
42. Marie Curie Essay
Marie Curie, or rather Marya Sklodowska, was born in Warsaw on
November 7, 1867. At the time, the Polish capital was occupied by the
Russians, who were seeking to weaken the local elite . Based on the value of
experience and scientific reality, and applied to society, it was for many
intellectuals the path of progress, it was to leave an indelible mark on Marya. Born
into a family of teachers and brought up in an environment marked by a sense of
duty and a lack of money, she led the most remarkable life. From the premature death
of one of her sisters, and later of her mother, she drew the agnosticism that would
later increase her faith in science. As a brilliant and mature student with a rare gift of
concentration, Marya followed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Henri Becquerel, who was studying X rays, had recently observed that uranium salt
left an impression on a photographic plate in spite of its protective envelope. And so
his frail wife set about her work, handling tons of minerals she noted that another
substance, thorium, was quot;radioactive quot;, a term she herself had coined.
Together, they demonstrated in a major discovery that radioactivity was not the result
of a chemical reaction but a property of the element or, more specifically, of the atom.
Marie then studied pitchblende, a uranic mineral in which she measured a much more
intense activity than is present in uranium alone. She found that there were other
substances besides uranium that were very radioactive, such as polonium and radium,
which she discovered in 1898.
Pierre tested radium on his skin. It caused a burn, and then a wound. Its effect on
man was proven. Soon radium was being used to treat malign tumors, Chemotherapy
was born. In 1903, Marie defended her discovery. Together with Becquerel, the
Curies were awarded the
Nobel Prize for Physics for their discovery of natural radioactivity. Their happiness
was short lived. In 1906, Pierre, weakened by radiation and overworked, was run over
by a car. Marie was forced to continue alone.
She took charge of educating her two children; she took up the position which her
husband had finally obtained at the Sorbonne, and then became the
43. Essay on The False Memory Task
The False Memory Task begins by giving examples of how memory of events can
be incorrect, although we might not be aware of it. The goal of this task is to
clearly show how easy it is for our memories to have false information. We are often
convinced that our memories are correct, especially when they seem to be logical
and contain a lot of detail. However, errors in memory are easily made and far
more frequent than the majority of people realize. This ZAPS experiment
approaches false memory errors in a way where it is easy to point out, and create,
false memories.
The procedure is simple. On the computer screen, twelve words are revealed one
word at a time in the form of a list. After the last word, a matrix of twelve words is
shown. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my theory, confusion was the key element. Transplant errors, explained by the
Cognition text book, were likely to take place. Transplant errors are the process of
confusing elements from one memory with elements from another. I was positive that
this ZAPS task would have elements that would purposely confuse participants, thus
creating false memories.
After the first and second list appeared, I quickly realized that each list was
categorized by theme. This knowledge helped me to organize the words contained
in each list. My articulatory rehearsal loop captured words as they were presented,
although I only had one chance to say them before another word appeared. Instead
of trying to store all twelve words in the articulatory rehearsal loop, I kept track of
the theme of the list and applied my prior knowledge of the subject and my schema
to the entire list. This allowed me to file away each word under one subject, and
therefore only one slot in my articulatory rehearsal loop was used. When it came
time to recall the words, I recognized words that had been relevant to that list. If a
word fit the context of the list, I selected it.
However, in selecting every word that was relevant, I grew increasingly unsure if I
had actually seen the word, or if the word was the category I had created in my
working memory. For example, one of the lists was concerned with the universe, so
in the matrix I chose every word that was related to
44. The Girl From Everywhere Summary
The Girl from Everywhere Heidi Heilig I very thoroughly enjoyed reading this
novel. The story opens with Nixie and the Temptation in 1774 India carrying a two
Bengal tigers in bamboo cages. Nixie s father is determined to return to Honolulu,
1868. There is a map on offer at Christie s auction house and the tigers will give
him the cash to pay for the rare map. Slate is planning to sell the tigers to the leader
of a Chinese gang who uses them to kill his rivals in 1981 New York. They would
then travel to New York 2016 to the auction sale to get the map that would take them
to Honolulu 1868. Nixie has planned this route through the different time eras to see
as much as possible because she believes once her father returns to Honolulu 1868...

45. Pinochet Gender
Under the reign of Augusto Pinochet, Chile suffered extreme oppression culturally,
socially, politically, economically, and religiously. As a dictator in a military
government, Pinochet shut down the Chilean government, stifled political discourse,
banned trade unions, and made Chile his own. Over 3,000 political opponents
disappeared during his rule, and the Chilean over arrested over 30,000, torturing
thousands. In response to the suffocating reign of Pinochet, Chilean citizens began to
express their culture and their identities through performance art and other means.
Among these identities being explored and expressed were those of gender: male,
female, and other. Gender and gender identity played significant roles during the
reign of Pinochet through both theory and social change. Under an oppressive
government, it is often women and minorities, including homosexuals, that suffer
most. Thus, it is most likely that those who are suffering will speak out. The

In A Critique of Morgenthau s Principles of Political Realism, Ann J. Tickner argues
that women are gaining a larger role in the international realm and thus the influence
of feminine factors changes the way politics is conducted. According to the feminist
perspective, women believe in dynamic objectivity, contextual national interests,
collective empowerment, moral significance in politics, common moral elements in
de escalating conflict, and that politics is not autonomous. In this sense, women tend
to be a part of social change, cooperation, and peace. Thus, women play a role in
national and international politics and life by promoting coexistence, cooperation,
and peace. This theory goes in direct opposition to the male associated concepts of
power and objectivity, both of which can be connected to the reign of Pinochet over
Chile. Therefore, women by nature were in opposition to

There were many things that I learned in Module 7 . Some of them where: what is
the difference between an acid and a base; what is pH; what is equilibrium, what is
Le ChГўtelier s principle; and what is oxidation. Here are some of the things that I

acid is a substance that produces hydrogen ions, H+ or hydrodium ionsH3O+ in
solution. There are three kinds of acids : Arrhenius, BrГ nsted Lowry, and Lewis
Acid. An Arrhenius acid is a substance the increases the concentration of hydrogen

Here are some of the things that I learned in lessons 07.03 (pH), and 07.04
(Equilibrium). The formula to calculate the pH of a solution is pH = log [H3O+].
A titration is a laboratory technique used to calculate the concentration of a
chemical. You are performing an acid base neutralization reaction. For example, let
s say we have some HCl that we do not know the concentration. We can react it with
a base, such as NaOH. You start by placing the substance of a known concentration
in a buret, such as a 0.25 M NaOH solution. Then, place the chemical that you do not
know the concentration of in a flask under the buret, such as HCl. We need to add an
indicator to the flask since most reactions are colorless. You will titrate the NaOH
until you reach the endpoint, which means that you will allow the chemical in the
buret, called the titrant, to flow into the flask. At the end point, the solution will have
a light pink color. Once you determine how much of the titrant, NaOH you used, you
can use stoichiometry to calculate the concentration of the unknown, HCl.Chemical
equilibrium is when the forward and the reverse reactions are occurring at the same
rate. If K is greater than 1, that means there are products than reactants are
equilibrium. If K is less than 1, there are more reactants than products at
equilibrium. As more products are made, the rate of the forward reaction will
decrease.The rate of the

Biodiversity of Microorganisms in Winthrop Lake vs. Wetland Abstract:
Microorganism need to live in ideal conditions so they can grow. This experiment
was performed to determine if there was a greater number of microorganisms in
Winthrop lake than Winthrop wetlands. We determined this hypothesis because the
lake was bigger. We also made the hypothesis that the pH level of the lake was
going to be higher than the wetlands. We tested out the hypothesis by going out to
Winthrop lake and wetlands and collecting samples of water. Back in the lab, we
examined the samples under a microscope and recorded all the organisms we could
find on Excel. Also, we tested the pH levels of the... Show more content on

6 groups each collected a sample of surface water from the wetland and the lake in
various areas. Back at the lab, measurements were made and analyzed the data. We
had 23 samples of water slides from the samples of water collected from each
location. We examined the drops of water from each location under a microscope
and counted all the microorganisms we could find and recorded them in Microsoft
Office Excel. After looking at the water samples under a microscope, we tested the
pH level of 6 samples from each location of water with a Vernier pH probe and
recorded this data in Excel. The number of microorganisms found in the recorded
was analyzed using a statistical chi squared test and the pH levels recorded was
analyzed using a t test. Results: After recording the data, we found a total of 10
different types of microorganisms in Winthrop wetlands (figure 1). In the lake, we
found a total of 13 different types of microorganisms (figure 1). Since we found
more organisms in the lake, we did a chi squared test to see if the difference was
statistically significant. The value we got after our calculation was 0.53 which is not

49. Chinook Salmon Respiration
All organisms need to respire to survive. Respiration requires oxygen which is
brought into the body during gas exchange. In gas exchange oxygen is taken from
the water or air into the bloodstream and carbon dioxide is released.
The Chinook Salmon or Oncorhynchus tshawytscha is one of my chosen vertebrates,
the Chinook Salmon are found natively in the Pacific Ocean, they are anadromous
meaning they are born in fresh water, they move gradually move to deep salt water
oceans when they are young before returning back to the fresh water streams where
they hatched as fully matured adults to lay eggs and die.

Since our knowledge is primarily based on intuitions and assumptions as to what a
person s behavior is going to be5, it can then be inferred by historians what will
happen in the future.
Although historians seek for evidence to substantiate their facts, there are times
were no physical evidence is found therefore they discard their evidence as merely
a myth or relate it to other accounts who share a similar believe. Nonetheless
historians, who fail to seek into the past to substantiate their viewpoint, don t
necessarily neglect the idea of using the evidence found to better the future. When a
historian is successful at achieving his goal and writes a successful review on a
historical event it is then when he reasons as to whether the information can be
applied to the future to make an improvement or if it should be discarded as another
piece of evidence of our history s past.
On similar concept, Human Sciences also study the past to try and change the future.
Anthropology as a branch of this AOK cultural anthropology6 studies the cultural and
social variation among the different communities and races in the world. Back in the
past there was a misconception as to what cultural anthropology studied.
51. Marc Antony And The Roman Empire
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; I come to bury Caesar, not to
praise him. These famous words were spoken by Marc Antony at Julius Caesar s
funeral as if to solidify that Caesar has passed and the Romans should look forward
without nostalgia of gone by emperors. Marc Antony was a leader in the change of
the Roman Republic into the Roman Empirethat spanned thousands of miles in its
prime. Born in January of 83 BC to the gens Antonia, which was a prominent family
with both patrician and plebeian ties. His father was Marcus Antonius Creticus, and
his mother was Julia Antonia, a distant relative to Julius Caesar. (Life of Antonius

First Triumvirate to take control of the Republic. Once the Triumvirate had
basically taken over the Republic for themselves Antony came to serve under
Julius Caesar in 54 BC. At this time Caesar was in the middle of his conquest of
Gaul during the Gallic Wars. While under Caesar Antony was noted as an
excellent military leader and strategist, because of this Caesar took notice of
Antony and the two became friends until Caesar died. After years in the conquest
of Gaul Antony was sent back to Rome to begin his political career as Quaestor in
52 BC as a member of the Populares faction. However, still assigned to Caesar s
force Antony returned to Gaul to command the cavalry in the Battle of Alesia against
the Gallic High King Vercingetorix. Antony was eventually promoted to Legate by
Caesar and given command of two legions. While all of this was happening for

52. Direct And Indirect Impacts Of Climate Change
d .
Climate change is a global issue that is becoming more and more dominant in the
world today. According to the Met Office, climate change is wide scale issue that
is caused by a shift in Earth s average temperatures. (Unknown, 2015). The potential
impacts of climate change can be separated into two different categories; direct
impacts and indirect impacts. The indirect impacts are knock on effects that are
controlled by the direct impacts. These indirect impacts can be as severe as the
direct impacts. For example, sea level rise is just as major as the flooding that may
come as a result of the rising sea level. If people start to realise the impact that
climate change is having on the world (both socially and environmentally), then the
effects of climate change may be reduced slightly. In this essay, a variety of direct
and indirect impacts will be described and how they affect both Newcastle Upon Tyne
and Sunderland.
A direct impact of climate change is sea level rise. Sea levels are expected to rise
between 0.2 and 0.86 metres from 2000 to 2100. Sea levels are rising due to ice
caps melting and the fact that the sea is being warmed and then expanding.
(Carrington, 2017). The sea levels around the UK have risen by approximately ten
centimetres in the past 100 years. So far there hasn t been any major/severe damage
to coastal areas in the UK, however, if sea level continues to rise at the rate it is
currently increasing at or faster, then there will be dramatic changes
