Zara Global Chain Essay
Introduction The global apparel chain had been categorized as a typical example of a buyer driven
global chain. The Chain is operating independently and is responsible for its own strategy, product
design, sourcing and manufacturing, distribution, image, personnel, and financial results. Zara was the
largest and most internationalized chain of Inditex, which is its owner, and on account being a better
established chain it expanded into neighbouring markets (Z8). Zara played the lead role in increasing
the share of Inditex s sales accounted for by international operations and it continued to be the
principal driver of the group s growth despite the expected slight drop in the share of the group s total
sales (Z9). Zara will be analysed based on strategic capability, core competences and assets routines
and values criteria, predominantly on resource based view. The resource based view can be described
as the competitive advantage of an organization explained by the uniqueness of its capabilities
(Johnson, Scholes, Whittington, 2005). In addition to this, by that the firms are recognized as
internally heterogeneous and possess exclusive masses of resources (McGee, Thomas, Wilson, 2010).
Furthermore, the resource based view emphasizes the internal capabilities of the organization in
formulation strategy to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage in its markets and industries
(Henry, 2011). Strategic Capability Firstly, we assess and define Zara s strategic capability.

During the transition into the new millennium, a number of factors including new technology, sports
personalities, and originality of new fans, led to the media destruction of modern sports. The media
changed professional and amateur athletics into businesses rather than into moralistic entertainment
while disgracefully exploiting higher education and individuals in the sporting world. The press has
also produced a new set of ideals and attitudes in the fans and players of popular sports (Torr 49).What
began in the transition to the new millennium is now an ever occurring phenomenon that plagues the
wide world of sports. While it is true that the media occasionally broadcasts stories of unlikely
successes and cordial charity, it consistently publicizes the most shameful and less copious actions of
certain athletes and leagues. One of the most prolific examples derives from the National Football
League, which has a substantial problem with regulating touchdown celebrations and dances. Rather
than help control the problem, the media feels the need to emphasize the celebrations more so than the
actual plays. Athletes have engaged in line dances, dice rolling, fake photo shoots, air guitar playing,
and many other imprudent dances and actions. The most notable occasions (thanks to the media)

How Does Temperature Affect The Permeability Of The Plasma...
Introduction
Membranes contain phospholipid bilayer these are two layers of phospholipids which are facing in
opposite directions to each other. The non polar tails are hydrophobic which are water hating, what
makes it difficult for polar molecules/ions to pass through them are the fatty acid tails which also act
as a barrier to water soluble substances. These molecules move in and out of the cell by diffusion,
osmosis and active transport. Diffusion is the net movement of particles down a concentration gradient
for example when gases move about and will move from where there is a high concentration to where
they are in lower concentration. By osmosis, the diffusion of water through the plasma membrane is
possible because the lipids bilayers are water resistant to important molecules and small molecules
like oxygen and carbon dioxide, these molecules and ions diffuse freely across the cell membrane. By
active transport, ions and molecules are forced using metabolic energy to move against their
concentrated gradient. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will lead to a higher reading on the colorimeter. At about 59°C proteins start to become denatured
losing their shape preventing the normal movement of substances in and out of the cell. Above 60°C
proteins become totally denatured. At these temperatures the fatty acid melts leading to a reduced
stability of the membrane.
Betalain are the red coloured pigment which happens in the vacuoles of the beetroot cell, a membrane
called the tonoplast is what surrounds each vacuole. The leakage of the beetroot red coloured pigment
which is the Betalain, out of the cell will determine how permeable the cell membrane is at a certain
time. As the water gets darker by the dye more light is

The Grand Nursing Theory Chosen By The Future Apn Is Roy...
The grand nursing theory chosen by the future APN is Roy s Model of Adaptation. In 1970, Sister
Callista Roy identified the need for conceptual frameworks to be developed in order to have a
foundation from which to build nursing knowledge. She developed the Model of Adaptation based on
her theory that all patients must adapt to his/her given situations; we as nurses must guide and
encourage positive adaptation for our patients (Roy, 1970). Roy s grand theory addressed all four of
Fawcett s concepts identified in her meta paradigm of nursing, adding an additional concept,
adaptation. Roy referred to the concept of person as man, identifying man as a biopsychosocial being
who received a nurse s services. Roy identified the environment as any and all focal, contextual, and
residual stimuli (1970). She addressed the concept of health as an aspect of a man s life, lying
somewhere along the health sickness continuum (Roy, 1971). In regards to the concept of nursing,
Roy identified nursing as a duty that helps and encourages man s response to environmental stimuli
(1970). The additional concept, adaptation, was identified by Roy as man s encounter and reply to any
given stimuli. This reply can be positive or negative (Roy, 1970). In addressing all the concepts
identified by Fawcett as nursing s meta paradigm, Roy strengthened her grand theory s foundation
thus adding strength to the foundation of nursing. In using Roy s framework as a model with which to
view the chosen

Fear In The Movie Cube
The 1997 film Cube is about a group of individuals who mysteriously awake in a complex cube,
which consist roughly of 3500 rooms. In order to escape this massive cube, characters must work
together in order to successfully guide themselves through the death defying traps implemented in
designated rooms. The characters in the film are decidedly postmodern in the sense that they have no
recognizable history amongst each other. Yet, there are several elements of fear highlighted throughout
the film, and is specifically noteworthy because it is one of the few contemporary horror made directly
in Canada to this day. Firstly the movie signifies fear through the physical aspects of the cube, this
includes the cubes natural features, and the intention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fear can be expressed as a progressive element, which over the course of time picks away at the
characters sense of sanity. Throughout the film the audience may agree with Quentin: at first he seems
to be the only reasonable one out of the group, who doesn t real appear to be hiding something (stating
he s a cop). However by the end he turns out to be a woman abuser, and bully. Quentin in the
beginning of the film can easily be signified to represent the caretaker amongst the group. However,
Quentin anger progressively becomes the virtuous monster in the film, to which by the end runs a
fascist form of ministry. Thus fear is also generated in the film from the sanctions imposed from
Quentin, and his coercive persuasion over the other. Compared to the character Worth who in contrast
to Quenin is the outcast amongst the group in the beginning, yet by the end he ends up a hero,
sacrificing his life for Kazam. Finally the idea of the Cube is to be understood not solely as a locus for
the quest for self knowledge, but also as the place where the clash between the individual and society
is reenacted

Nelson Mandela s Quest For Freedom
Nelson Mandela was a South African anti apartheid revolutionary, who fought long and hard for the
freedom of his people. Freedom is seen as a holy grail, a way out of troubles for many people.
Mandela made sure he and his people were able to get away from the discrimination and violence they
experienced. The movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom shows exactly what he had to go through to
reach freedom. Mandela s quest for freedom can be seen as similar to that of Jimmy Baca s. Both
these men were convicted and put in jail for ridiculous accusations. Also both Baca and Mandela used
their knowledge to find ways to better themselves and ultimately helped them survive and get out of
jail. Baca steers away from the darkness that surrounds him by ... Show more content on

During Mandela s time the Black people in South Africa were being treated in much the same way as
they are today. In the essay My Views in the Eyes of the Stranger the author quotes that My life means
nothing to the white people she continues to say, they call it punishment, I call it torment (My Views
in the Eyes of a Stranger). With these quotes she perfectly sums up the discrimination they go through.
Mandela was perfectly aware of this. In the movie it is shown that Mandela conducts rallies and
protests, involving the public into his fight for freedom. The movie shows him getting angry, and
getting the public angry; educating them on what was really happening to them. Just like Mandela the
author of the essay dreams that we live in a society that did not have racism and every person was
given the same respect and chance to be successful (My Views in the Eyes of a Stranger). Even fifty
years before today Mandela was wishing for the same thing, which empowered him to fight for
change, for freedom. In the movie the black community of South Africa is shown being beat and
murdered for even the simplest of things, such as assembling together. They were not given equal
opportunities as the white people, they were forced into poverty, and they were wrongly accused and
jailed. This was a driving force to Mandela that fueled his quest for

Mark Zuckerberg And Jeff Bezos
Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Benzos are a true inspiration to me. A lot of people listen to others, are lazy,
and will do anything that people tell them. Along the way to success Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos
have had people tell those that they were stupid and wasting their time on the plan. If they were just
like everyone else; they would have stopped what they were doing and work a regular 9 5 job like
everyone else in the world. Mark Zuckerberg founded a social media website by the name of
Facebook in his college dorm while he attended Harvard. On Facebook, friends can interact and stay
in touch with each other through pictures and instant messaging. Jeff Bezos created the internet empire
known as amazon.
Mark Zuckerberg was born on May 14, 1984 in White Plains, New York. Mark came from a well
educated family and struggled by no means. Marks mother was a psychiatrist and his father worked in
dentistry. Zuckerberg showed an interest in computers at an premature age and by creating a
messaging program that his dad would use in his workplace so he could connect with the receptionist
without getting up. Zuckerberg attended Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire where he was
the leader of the fencing crew. After high school, Mark attended Harvard for a projected 2 years.
While at Harvard Mark developed a program called course match. Course match is a program in
which students can pick courses based on other enrollments. In 2004, he dropped out of Harvard and

Examples Of Rite Of Passage In Greasy Lake
Rite of Passage
Greasy Lake by T.C. Boyle is a tale of one young man s quest for the rich scent of possibility on the
breeze. It was a time in a man s life when there was an almost palpable sense of destiny, as if
something was about to happen, like a rite of passage that will thrust him into adulthood or cement his
badness forever. The story opens with our narrator on a night of debauchery with his friends drinking,
eating, and cruising the streets as he had done so many times in the past. What he found on that night
of violence and mayhem would force him to look at himself hard. This is a story of one man s journey
from boyhood to maturity.
The story is short and relies on a simple plot, involving violence and a series of ... Show more content

Not only is he beaten, but now his mother s car is beaten too. As he turns his attention back to the
thing bobbing in the water he grasps the fact that he is probably better off, Then I thought of the dead
man. He was probably the only person on the planet worse off than I was. (149)
The tension this young man feels comes from his internal struggle to come to terms with what he is
and what he is destined to become. The emphasis on his badness suggests that he is insecure in
himself. The thorough thrashing he receives from Greasy Character is representational of the lack of
control he has over his life. A truly bad man with greasy jeans has come to teach him there are
consequences for the things he does.
The narrator is both protagonist and antagonist because the main conflict is an internal one. The bad
greasy character is flat and stereotypical as a dense, bad dude looking for trouble with his fists. The
supporting characters, Digby, Jeff, and the girlfriend of Greasy Character are flat and static as are the
two blonds and the hot rodder who arrived like a knight in shiny Trans Am. All that s left are the party
girls and, of course, Al, the dead guy in the lake. While these characters are all flat and static they still
contribute to the action and atmosphere of the story. All the characters are typical except for the
narrator who is round, developed and dynamic. He changes from a 19 year old boy to the older, wiser

Summary and Reflection of Nihon Furisode Hajime by...
On Sunday, March 9, 2014, I had a great opportunity to watch Nihon Furisode Hajime, a Kabuki play
held in Kabukiza theatre in Tokyo, Japan. The production was written by the pen name Chikamatsu
Monzaemon whose actual name is Nobumori Sugomori. The play was formerly created for the puppet
theatre, Bunraku, and was first staged in Osaka in 1718. Also, it was first performed in Kyoto after it
has immediately reformed to Kabuki during the same month.
Nihon Furisode Hajime is a fictional story about the fight between an eight headed serpent and
Susanoo. As a yearly ceremonial, the townspeople brought Princess Inada to the Izumo Mountain, the
site where the annual sacrifice for the serpent is dedicated. The serpent, disguised as an ugly princess,
was attracted to jars full of sake before she was able to attack Princess Inada. Knowing that the sake
wine will weaken the serpent, a hero named Susanoo used set up the jars of sake wine as a trap against
the serpent. Susanoo then attacked and defeated the drunken eight headed serpent and saved Princess
Inada.
There are three main characters in the production. The first main character of the play is Princess
Iwanaga. She is a jealous woman whose spirit has become the eight headed serpent. Due to her
insecurities of being called ugly, she threatens and demands the villagers to send her every year the
body of the most beautiful girl in town. Another important character named Princess Inada is a young
and beautiful princess of a

Political Movement, A Road That Never Ends
Political Movement, A Road That Never Ends During the 1870s to 1930, California agriculture had
become a most diverse region of the United States. Its wheat, meat, and crop farming, such as grapes,
walnuts, almonds, tomatoes, potatoes, watermelons, and plums became the California s major export
industry, as well as nation s leading producer. According to The Elusive Eden by Richard B. Rice,
William A. Bullough, and Richard J. Orsi, the number of farms in 1925 had grown to more than
136,400 farms, worth than $708 million. Besides the enormous development of the agriculture,
California had become the one of the best manufacturing and trading states in America. It dominated
the manufacturing industry and trading companies for aircraft factories, lumber factories, steel plants,
mining companies, petroleum companies and so on. According to Eric Foner in Give Me Liberty
volume 2, by 1945, California had received one tenth of all federal spending, and Los Angeles had
become the nation s second largest manufacturing center (863). Paralleled with the economic
development were numerous organizations found in California in order to control, regulate, and
support the commercial and trading activities, such as the California Fruit Growers Exchange, the
Representative Assembly of Trade and Labor Unions, the Coast Seamen s Association, the Federated
Iron Trade Council. Although the political reforms in the early 20th century could not address the most

The study of history enables a society to understand the present better, prevent one from thinking the
past is always better, and aids in the understanding of human nature. Psychology is an ever changing
and evolutionary field. Recent years have presented numerous changes and increasing interest by
many individuals, which have been inspired to help enhance the growth of modern psychology
(Woodworth, 1918, p. 1). The use of the certain tools that have been deemed to be reliable in the fields

The reasoning for the lack of recognition on the behalf of Vesalius and Harvey has been contributed to
the personalistic theory. According to the definition of the personlistic theory, Vesalius and Harvey
were not considered as great men of their generation and did not possess the uniqueness to cause a
great impact on society.
The personlistic theory does not consider the facts of the historian studies, even though there was
sufficient evidence to support their theories. However, according to the zeitgeist steps in order to
attempt to explain this by being the spirit of that generation was not open to the new idea s of these
two men, and therefore, their theories were rejected by that generation. According to McCauley, the
definition of a zeitgeist is spirit of times McCauley (2008, p. 10). Zeitgeist is believed to be the
compelling drive to cause major changes in history through unknowing forces. Social, economic, and
political forces are considered as a part of zeitgeist theory to influence the ever changing field of

Light Absorption Research Paper
Light is said to be the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that all people can see. Many people
call this portion visible light, and know that visible light has a range of many colors. These main
colors are usually said to be red, orange, blue, indigo, violet, yellow, and green. The colors of different
objects are determined by the interaction between light and the electrons of the atoms that make up an
object. The object is made up of specific wavelengths of white light unique to the object, and it
absorbs the light according to its wavelengths. Molecules have many states, two of these states, are
states where the electron is excited and neutral when it is originally found. Molecules and atoms can
only absorb light when the energy of a photon matches the energy difference between these two states.

The color wheel relates the wavelengths of transmitted light to absorbed light. Objects absorb different
amounts of white light, which is what makes an object have its unique color. The white light is what in
turn makes color. While there were many theories throughout history on light, the first theories about
light were created by the Ancient Greeks. These theories tried to describe light as a ray which moved
directionally to a point. Pythagoras was best known for his theorem of the right triangle that was made
up of the assumption that vision was made from light rays that came out of a person s eye and hit an
object. This is true in many senses. In reflection, when light hits a smooth surface, it hits then bounces
off. A reflected ray always comes off the surface of a material at an angle equal to the angle at which
the incoming ray hit the surface. However, when light bounces off a rough surface, light reflects at
numerous angles

Conversely, Cotton Mather stood by the use spectral evidence even after his father had condemned it.
In The Wonders of the Invisible World, Mather outlined his belief that the convictions in Salem were

Cotton Mather stated that, We are Humane Creatures, and we are safe while we say, they must be

The parallel continues in regards to the presentation of evidence. In modern child abuse cases,
authorities historically tended to believe what children said because they did not want to believe that
they could make up such harsh accusations. However, this blind faith in a child s testimony has
recently been challenged as children have been increasingly educated on the warning signs of abuse
and are, therefore, more capable of making fake accusations. Much the same, the authorities in Salem
did not want to believe the girls could make up such severe claims of witchcraft, even though they had
been increasingly made aware of the folklore and, therefore, able to fake the symptoms. It has also
been noted that the girls supposed fits, if not truly choreographed and acted out, could have been the
result of asthma or even epilepsy. Asthma can be caused by stress, changes in room temperature, or
the presence of mold. However, attacks can also occur randomly without warning. Therefore, when
they do occur, it will look as though the person experiencing the attack is in critical condition. It has
been concluded that, If asthma played a part, it is not surprising that the girls attacks of choking were
common indoors, in damp and moldy houses, and in the evening, when fires were stoked, rooms
became smoky, and temperatures increased. Furthermore, asthma is most

The organisational structure of a company reflects its culture, its management style and its leader
attitude in addition to the environment in which it has to operate. Without giving a full description of
the two airlines structure it is worth saying that British Airways and Virgin Airlines mainly differ in
two aspects: size and culture. Both companies have a structure which is mostly dictated by operational
needs characteristic to every airline. British Airways has a more formalised structure with precise rules

The reason for BA s success lies in the radical change of its culture undertaken in the 80 s and which
is still going on, as Mr. Ayling stated recently. BA managed in the 80 s to change from the airline of
last resort to the world s favourite carrier. The airline was grossly overmanned, unpunctual and strike
prone, with a very special disdain for passengers. It needed a coherent philosophy on how the
customer can best be served. Most of the change has been prompted by a marketing orientation.
Customers have been posed at the centre of the attention and individuals have been empowered to take
initiative. It learned to respond to customers requirements and co act on individuals initiatives. Ayling
is now concerned about how to remove the last vestiges of bureaucracy.

Imperialism In Things Fall Apart
In order to justify the slave trade, Europeans made Africans look like primitive people through
literature. Chinua Achebe, the author of Things Fall Apart, said in an interview that the main reason
for writing this novel was to encourage other African writers to write about their past in order to refute
the stories of the Europeans, claiming that Africans are uncivilized animals, but also shows that the
Ibo were not a perfect society, highlighting the parts of Ibo culture that are considered heinous crimes
today, in order to prove that there were no truly civilized societies. In his novel Things Fall Apart,
Chinua Achebe effectively educates his readers about the culture and practices of the Ibo during the

Achebe writes about how it was a practice for Ibo women to leave twins in the Evil Forest to die.
Many people saw this as uncivilized and barbaric, forgetting the fact that their own civilized ancestors
in Sparta commonly killed children and ill born babies who were not fit for their grueling lifestyle. In
addition to the fact that Achebe does not effectively show the Ibo were civilized, he shows that men in
the clan could beat their wives and kids on a regular basis without punishment. During the week of
peace, when specifically told not to harm anyone or anything Okonkwo beats his wife and as a
punishment he was to bring to the shrine of Ani tomorrow one she goat, one hen, a length of cloth and
a hundred cowries (Achebe, 31). On any other occasion he would go without punishment, but since it
was the week of peace he disrupted the harmony of the clan, which would lead to great disaster
without punishment. In reality, during the age of imperialism until very recently it has been allowed
for parents and guardians to beat or harm their kids in order to discipline them, very similar to what
Okonkwo does to his children when they do wrong. It could be argued that Achebe does not
effectively educate his readers, but he meant for this to happen to show that no society is perfect and

group added a practice phase to our experiment. So, we incorporated 3 sets of ten sit ups then timed
the number of sit ups per minute. Each member of the group computed the mean number of sit ups for
these two weeks. To conclude our study for the last week days 21 to 28 we established our new
baseline without an intervention. From these guidelines we predicted that our group was would gain

maximum number of sit ups we can complete in a minute will increase. This experiment was designed

A smaller airline is simple and can easily adapt to change. Smaller airlines field similar aircraft for
interchangeability of maintenance workers and crew, they can quickly upgrade aircraft and they can
easily adjust management, directly address minor issues and quickly respond to changes in the market
place. While at a larger airline, bureaucracy slows these efforts, lengthily logistical and environmental
issues prolong the change process, what takes months for small airlines to adopt may take years for a
large airline. In my time in the military I learnt a school of thought called the tenants of guerrilla
warfare, I find it very similar to this circumstance (if they re big and you re small, then you re mobile
and they re slow, you re hidden and they re exposed etc etc). The threat of growing too large is a
known issue that airlines like Southwest avoid by utilizing careful growth in their business plan.
This new growth presents American Airlines to a new pool of customers, the untapped international
community that has little knowledge of American Airlines and with the recent disasters of Air Asia

The important thing on the road to gain a further insight, an extensive structural model that identifies
direct and indirect relationships between supply chain quality management and firm performance was
also developed. Not only that, the conceptual framework can also be used as a guideline for building
theory and measurement instrument development of supply chain quality management and firm
performance.
Originality / value Refer to the integrated quality and supply chain management is still limited in the
literature. For a more focused approach, this paper focuses on the aspects of quality that are
recognized as the quality of supply chain management practices. Next, the proposed research model in

The Prospect Of Human Cloning
The prospect of human cloning was introduced in February 1997 when an embryologist was able to
produce a lamb through the process of cloning. Once the lamb was cloned, the question of whether
research for human cloning came into being. Society and researchers have feuded over whether human
cloning should be banned or allowed for research and reproduction purposes. Each side has reasonable
ideologies to continue their stance towards the opposing argument. Pro cloners believe that the
research developed from human cloning will benefit society, while those who oppose it believe there
are numerous risks in allowing the research. A decision will be reached when both sides compromise
and reach an agreement. In the novel Scientific and Medical Aspects of Human Reproductive Cloning,
written by a committee of scientist and engineers, state that society will be the overall decision maker
for human cloning (2003, p. xi). Many individuals in society currently do not approve of the human
cloning research process. Some are concerned that the cloned child would have issues with its self
identity. and some believe that cloning a human is overall morally wrong. The prospect of social
identity problems arises from what Nestor Morales, a Professor of Psychology at New York, cites that
cloned children, knowing that they have been a planned to be a copy from another problem, ... , may

Organizational Change
Professor R. Conejo
October 19, 2010 OD in the movie Hoosiers The movie Hoosiers was a great story that dealt with
many of the topics covered in our readings for the week. The story is about a small town Indiana
basketball team that overcomes many challenges to win the state championship. The main character of
the movie is Norman Dale, a passionate basketball coach that faces many obstacles in his attempt to
teach his players about the benefits of working together as a team. The movie dealt with many team
oriented topics such as team development, interdependence, group cohesiveness, intergroup problems,
and confrontation. The movie begins with Dale making his way to the ... Show more content on

After confronting her he explained his position and over time eventually gained her respect. He did the
same with the townspeople, attending their meetings to confront them and to defend his methods.
The movie Hoosiers was a great example of how success can be found through teamwork and
cohesiveness. Many of the lessons that are found within the movie directly relate to the lesson we
learned in our readings for the week. The importance of each and every member of the team and the
realization that no one member is more important than the next is a valuable lesson to be learned from
the movie. Another important lesson to be learned from the movie is that while the results of a change
may not be immediately noticed, believing in each other and in the team can be beneficial in the long
run. Changes may not always have immediate results that are favorable, but sticking with the planned
change and having each team member fully committed to it can be beneficial in the long run. Not only
will the performance of the team improve, but the performance of each individual member of that
team will improve as well.

Review Of Lord Of The Flies
Tabula Rasa over Centuries
People say that a person cannot live a positive life with a negative mind. That person has the ability to
take action through influence and experience. Lord of the Flies by William Golding gives a graphic
example about loss of complete culture to bestial ambience. This may be recognizable with the boys
perception on fun and games. Leisure for the children on the island goes from playing Tic Tac Toe in
the sand to hunting for pigs and eventually one another. In parallel to the story, this hazardous
recreation takes place in our own reality. For children of the 21st century, it manifests as video games.
Lord of the Flies amplifies influence, and its effect on adolescent behavior mirroring today s societal
interest in the violent virtual world.
A supporting idea containing morality connects to the Tabula Rasa theory. John Locke, an Enlightened
English philosopher, embraced the importance of experience over speculation. He emphasizes the
human mind at birth is a complete, but receptive, blank slate. This ideally proves how experience
affects knowledge. Let us then suppose the mind to be, as we say, white paper void of all characters,
without any ideas. [...] Whence has it all the materials of reason and knowledge? To this I answer, in
one word, from experience. (John Locke, Essay). In relation to this famous idea, the boys lives in Lord
of the Flies reinforces the idea immensely. Through Jack s idea of fun and games, benevolence is

Causes Of The Salem Witch Trials Hysteria Of 1692
What caused the Salem Witch Trials Hysteria of 1692? In 1692, in the small village of Salem,
Massachusetts, 20 people were hanged for offenses they did not commit. But what was the charge
against the 20? The answer would be witchcraft. The charges deeply affected the small community.
Neighbor turned on neighbor. Every act that a person made would be carefully scrutinized, dissected,
and repeated to others. This would lead to the question. What caused the Salem Witch Trial Hysteria
of 1692? The 3 main factors that would cause widespread panic in the town of Salem were gender,
marital status, and age, actors and attention seekers, and neighbor conflicts within the village of
Salem.
Firstly, the conflicts were caused by the factors of gender, age, and marital status. When looking at the
total number of men and women who were hanged, the women far outnumbered the men, 13 women
to 7 men (Source A). Of the 24 males who were accused of witchcraft, 15 were married, while of the
110 females accused, 61 were married. This shows that the number of females accused outnumbered
the men and the majority of those accused were married. Of the male accusers, all 5 were single,
ranging from the ages of 11 20, whereas off the 29 females accusers, 23 were single (the other 6 were
married). The ages of the accusers ranged from under 11 to over 21, with the majority being 16 20
years of age. There is a distinct pattern that stands out in the accused and the accusers. The accused

Dancing As A World That Did Not Know Dancing Essay
Can you image a world that did not know dancing? When I asked this question to my friends, one of
them answered, how can we have fun without dancing? People dance when they feel comfortable, and
they also can dance when having fun because people, as human beings, have known instinctively that
dancing with rhythm makes them happy. It is interesting that people all already know how to dance.
However, we might not have an idea why people know how to dance, and where the pleasant feelings
that you can get due to dance came from. Without a doubt, dancing was fundamentally not made in the
21st century. It was made and built by ancient people before the birth of the earliest human
civilizations. Dance does not leave behind clearly identifiable physical artifacts such as stone tools,
hunting implements, or cave paintings ( Champion and Thomas, 2). People have danced to pray and
communicate with god, and these dances also have been an important part of ceremonies, rituals,
celebrations, and entertainment. Even though time passed since dancing began, dance is always about
communication among people, and they are required several kinds of dance style to show their
expression. One of the dances which people have handed down from the ancient times is folk dance.
Folk dance is a form of dance developed by a group of people that reflects the traditional life of the
people of a certain country or region. Besides, folk dances, unlike most other dance forms, tend to

  • 2. Zara Global Chain Essay Introduction The global apparel chain had been categorized as a typical example of a buyer driven global chain. The Chain is operating independently and is responsible for its own strategy, product design, sourcing and manufacturing, distribution, image, personnel, and financial results. Zara was the largest and most internationalized chain of Inditex, which is its owner, and on account being a better established chain it expanded into neighbouring markets (Z8). Zara played the lead role in increasing the share of Inditex s sales accounted for by international operations and it continued to be the principal driver of the group s growth despite the expected slight drop in the share of the group s total sales (Z9). Zara will be analysed based on strategic capability, core competences and assets routines and values criteria, predominantly on resource based view. The resource based view can be described as the competitive advantage of an organization explained by the uniqueness of its capabilities (Johnson, Scholes, Whittington, 2005). In addition to this, by that the firms are recognized as internally heterogeneous and possess exclusive masses of resources (McGee, Thomas, Wilson, 2010). Furthermore, the resource based view emphasizes the internal capabilities of the organization in formulation strategy to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage in its markets and industries (Henry, 2011). Strategic Capability Firstly, we assess and define Zara s strategic capability. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the transition into the new millennium, a number of factors including new technology, sports personalities, and originality of new fans, led to the media destruction of modern sports. The media changed professional and amateur athletics into businesses rather than into moralistic entertainment while disgracefully exploiting higher education and individuals in the sporting world. The press has also produced a new set of ideals and attitudes in the fans and players of popular sports (Torr 49).What began in the transition to the new millennium is now an ever occurring phenomenon that plagues the wide world of sports. While it is true that the media occasionally broadcasts stories of unlikely successes and cordial charity, it consistently publicizes the most shameful and less copious actions of certain athletes and leagues. One of the most prolific examples derives from the National Football League, which has a substantial problem with regulating touchdown celebrations and dances. Rather than help control the problem, the media feels the need to emphasize the celebrations more so than the actual plays. Athletes have engaged in line dances, dice rolling, fake photo shoots, air guitar playing, and many other imprudent dances and actions. The most notable occasions (thanks to the media) include: Joe Horn removing a cell phone from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Does Temperature Affect The Permeability Of The Plasma... Introduction Membranes contain phospholipid bilayer these are two layers of phospholipids which are facing in opposite directions to each other. The non polar tails are hydrophobic which are water hating, what makes it difficult for polar molecules/ions to pass through them are the fatty acid tails which also act as a barrier to water soluble substances. These molecules move in and out of the cell by diffusion, osmosis and active transport. Diffusion is the net movement of particles down a concentration gradient for example when gases move about and will move from where there is a high concentration to where they are in lower concentration. By osmosis, the diffusion of water through the plasma membrane is possible because the lipids bilayers are water resistant to important molecules and small molecules like oxygen and carbon dioxide, these molecules and ions diffuse freely across the cell membrane. By active transport, ions and molecules are forced using metabolic energy to move against their concentrated gradient. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This will lead to a higher reading on the colorimeter. At about 59°C proteins start to become denatured losing their shape preventing the normal movement of substances in and out of the cell. Above 60°C proteins become totally denatured. At these temperatures the fatty acid melts leading to a reduced stability of the membrane. Betalain are the red coloured pigment which happens in the vacuoles of the beetroot cell, a membrane called the tonoplast is what surrounds each vacuole. The leakage of the beetroot red coloured pigment which is the Betalain, out of the cell will determine how permeable the cell membrane is at a certain time. • 5. The Grand Nursing Theory Chosen By The Future Apn Is Roy... The grand nursing theory chosen by the future APN is Roy s Model of Adaptation. In 1970, Sister Callista Roy identified the need for conceptual frameworks to be developed in order to have a foundation from which to build nursing knowledge. She developed the Model of Adaptation based on her theory that all patients must adapt to his/her given situations; we as nurses must guide and encourage positive adaptation for our patients (Roy, 1970). Roy s grand theory addressed all four of Fawcett s concepts identified in her meta paradigm of nursing, adding an additional concept, adaptation. Roy referred to the concept of person as man, identifying man as a biopsychosocial being who received a nurse s services. Roy identified the environment as any and all focal, contextual, and residual stimuli (1970). She addressed the concept of health as an aspect of a man s life, lying somewhere along the health sickness continuum (Roy, 1971). In regards to the concept of nursing, Roy identified nursing as a duty that helps and encourages man s response to environmental stimuli (1970). The additional concept, adaptation, was identified by Roy as man s encounter and reply to any given stimuli. This reply can be positive or negative (Roy, 1970). In addressing all the concepts identified by Fawcett as nursing s meta paradigm, Roy strengthened her grand theory s foundation thus adding strength to the foundation of nursing. In using Roy s framework as a model with which to view the chosen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Fear In The Movie Cube The 1997 film Cube is about a group of individuals who mysteriously awake in a complex cube, which consist roughly of 3500 rooms. In order to escape this massive cube, characters must work together in order to successfully guide themselves through the death defying traps implemented in designated rooms. The characters in the film are decidedly postmodern in the sense that they have no recognizable history amongst each other. Yet, there are several elements of fear highlighted throughout the film, and is specifically noteworthy because it is one of the few contemporary horror made directly in Canada to this day. Firstly the movie signifies fear through the physical aspects of the cube, this includes the cubes natural features, and the intention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fear can be expressed as a progressive element, which over the course of time picks away at the characters sense of sanity. Throughout the film the audience may agree with Quentin: at first he seems to be the only reasonable one out of the group, who doesn t real appear to be hiding something (stating he s a cop). However by the end he turns out to be a woman abuser, and bully. Quentin in the beginning of the film can easily be signified to represent the caretaker amongst the group. However, Quentin anger progressively becomes the virtuous monster in the film, to which by the end runs a fascist form of ministry. The movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom shows exactly what he had to go through to reach freedom. Mandela s quest for freedom can be seen as similar to that of Jimmy Baca s. • 13. Light Absorption Research Paper Light is said to be the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that all people can see. Many people call this portion visible light, and know that visible light has a range of many colors. These main colors are usually said to be red, orange, blue, indigo, violet, yellow, and green. The colors of different objects are determined by the interaction between light and the electrons of the atoms that make up an object. The object is made up of specific wavelengths of white light unique to the object, and it absorbs the light according to its wavelengths. Molecules have many states, two of these states, are states where the electron is excited and neutral when it is originally found. These theories tried to describe light as a ray which moved directionally to a point. Pythagoras was best known for his theorem of the right triangle that was made up of the assumption that vision was made from light rays that came out of a person s eye and hit an object. This is true in many senses. In reflection, when light hits a smooth surface, it hits then bounces off. When I asked this question to my friends, one of them answered, how can we have fun without dancing? People dance when they feel comfortable, and they also can dance when having fun because people, as human beings, have known instinctively that dancing with rhythm makes them happy. It is interesting that people all already know how to dance. However, we might not have an idea why people know how to dance, and where the pleasant feelings that you can get due to dance came from. Without a doubt, dancing was fundamentally not made in the 21st century. It was made and built by ancient people before the birth of the earliest human civilizations. Dance does not leave behind clearly identifiable physical artifacts such as stone tools, hunting implements, or cave paintings ( Champion and Thomas, 2).
