Sample Argumentative Essay Topics
Writing an essay on the topic of "Sample Argumentative Essay Topics" can be both challenging
and rewarding. On one hand, the abundance of potential topics provides a wide range of
choices, allowing for creativity and personal expression. However, the difficulty lies in selecting
a compelling and relevant topic that not only engages the audience but also allows for a well-
supported argument.
The process begins with extensive research to identify current and relevant issues that spark
debate. Once a suitable topic is chosen, the writer must navigate through various perspectives
and gather evidence to support their argument. This involves sifting through academic articles,
books, and reliable sources to ensure the essay is grounded in well-established facts.
Structuring the essay is another aspect that adds to the complexity. A clear introduction, a well-
articulated thesis statement, and organized supporting paragraphs are essential for conveying the
argument effectively. Transitioning smoothly between ideas, addressing counterarguments, and
providing a strong conclusion further contribute to the challenge.
Moreover, maintaining a balance between passion and objectivity is crucial. While expressing
personal opinions is encouraged, it is equally important to present a fair and unbiased analysis of
the topic. Striking this balance requires careful consideration of language, tone, and the overall
presentation of arguments.

The Ethics Of Eating By Eric Dickers Analysis
Unfavorable Towards Employers When it comes to figuring out an author s point
of view, it can be simple or complicated. We have to pay close attention to the
author s text and ideas to claim a single point of view by analyzing the tone,
diction, purpose, and modes of discourse. Readings can have a favorable,
unfavorable, neutral, or an ambivalent point of view depending on how the other
chooses their words. An author can easily demonstrate how they feel about the
topic they are writing such as Eric Haas. Through his writing in his essay, The
Ethics of Eating , we can see Haas does not support the maltreat of farm workers. It
is common farm workers have one of the low paying jobs, but being treated bad by
their employers is wrong. Haas is very clear about this subject in his writing. The
Ethics of Eating: Consider the Farmworkers the essay by Eric Haas, has an
unfavorable point of view towards employers mistreating their farm workers. In
The Ethics of Eating: Consider the Farmworkers by Eric Haas, the author starts off
by mentioning a trip he took with Slow Food Portland members in search for the
origins of their food. He states they were going to meet with farm workers and visit
their homes which are provided by their employers, or by nonprofit organizations
such as the Farm worker Housing Development Corporation also knows as FHDC.
He then continues by claiming that food being grown and distributed in our country
is harmful to our health, but that problem is already
History Of The Silk Road
Have you ever wondered where a lot of the food we eat today and medicine and items
we use today that can be important to our religion or race or has been important to
our life growing up can be from the silk road. Food such as plums, melons, peaches,
and pears and items such as silk, pills, and color dye. The silk road has done many
thing to help us all around now let s get into how they could ve played an role in our
life.
The first thing we ll be talking about is the culture, I got my information from The
language most used in the silk road is Khotanese, Tocharian, Sogdian, and Chinese.
Some food there is lamb, mutton, dried fruits, and of course noodles. Some of the
famous most used animals over there in the silk road are Camels, sheep, and yaks.
Some of their clothing options were woolen wraps and silk clothes which they later
on dyed for patterns and color. Finally on our way to ideas they had on the silk road.
The second thing we ll be talking about is Technology/Innovations. I got my
information from both these sites Some things that came from the silk road were
gunpowder, compass, printing, glassware, crossbow, and some knowledge about
silkworm breeding and silk spinning. Some more items they made that were cool

Some of the more rare, interesting plants over there were a plant called the
metasequoia, cherry blossoms trees, and even the china cypress, all these cultures

Physics in Bow and Arrow Shooting
When people think of shooting a bow they may think of back in time when the
Indians used to shoot their longbows. When you look at it from that perspective it
seems like bows are such a simple piece of equipment. Unless you ve really sat
down and looked at a compound bow you wouldn t understand that there can be so
many parts to make it function properly. For example, the string moving at such a
high rate of speed to launch the arrow, then comes to a complete stop in just a
fraction of a second with very minimal vibration. How does that not tear something
up?
There are several key parts to know that is on a compound bow: cam, limbs, string,
and riser.
A cam is what makes the difference between a plain recurve and a compound bow. A
cam is a particular object at the top and bottom of a bow that rotates as you pull the
string of the bow back. Now why are cams such a big advancement to that of a
recurve? Cams allow bows to shoot higher feet per second and allow the arrow to
have more kinetic energy, thus make the arrow travel faster and further, and penetrate
deeper into the object you are shooting.
With the invention of cams, came the very helpful let off. Unlike recurves,
compounds have specifically shaped cams to allow for let off. This means, when
you are drawing back your bow it is not a constant 60 to 70 pound pull back the
whole time, it gives you a break. With a compound bow set on a 70 pound draw
weight, you might only draw 70 pounds back have off your draw length, then
Dixon Illinois Case Study
Dixon Illinois, a community of 16,000 located on the banks of the Rock River in
north central Illinois. While being located about 100 miles from Chicago this is a
farm town. It is, a town where a young Lincoln fought in the Blackhawk Indian Wars,
a town where Ronald Reagan grew up, and the town with the biggest municipal
embezzlement scandal in U.S. history (Visit Dixon Illinois).
Rita Crundwell started working at city hall while she was in high school, and was
always known as a hard worker. Rita was persuaded to skip college and work full
time for the comptroller of the city. In 1983 after the retirement of her boss
Crundwell was promoted to the roll of comptroller, because she knew how
everything in the city worked and it was an easy transition.
By the late 1980s, says Jim Dixon (Dixon Mayor during this time), she controlled
virtually everything having to do with the city s money. She balanced the checkbook.
She wrote the checks. She made the deposits. She requested funds... Financial
statements were sent to a City of Dixon post office box that she controlled; when she
was away, a relative collected the mail (Smith 3).

Technical Communications Rhetorical Analysis Assignment
For the Technical Communications Rhetorical Analysis assignment, I have reviewed
two separate memos including; a memo titled confidential memo from the
supervisor to the nurse manager based on errors made by a nurse and corrections
needing to happen, also the memo titled problem memorandum assignment from an
RN to the Senator and chair of New York State s Health Committee as persuasion
so the legislature will support the Registered Nurse Safe Staffing Act H.R. 876.
Audience Analysis The Confidential memo has been written by the Director of
nursing for a specific audience, the nurse manager, who will have a great impact on
the content of the memo. There could be a secondary if it s decided by the primary
audience that they will include... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s primarily written in response of an incident report. The incident requested
immediate action, it being a medical setting where life and death decisions are made
the problem needed to be solved as quickly as it was reported. The memo was urgent
since previous incident reports contained content of the same problem. The memo
was written after the nurse s offense as stated in the conclusion of the memo if she
continues to have issues even after the redemption plan there will be additional
measures. The problem memorandum assignment appears to not be written in
response to a specific incident report as the first memo, it is clearly written as a
reaction and demand of action from polices and the system. The current conditions
are described in much detail Factors that contribute to the costly effect include the
fact that nurses have, increased incidence of nurse burnout and patients have poorer
outcomes increasing both mortality and readmission rates. Nurses are a large
component to keeping readmission rates down through spending time with a patient
and educating and empowering patients on self care through helping patients
understand importance of medication regimen adherence, importance of diet
adherence, ways to reduce infection and various other skills to care for self at home
(Problem Memorandum Assignment, 2015) The documents exigence is crucial the
audience to better the outcome of patients and that of the health
Stewardship Theories Of Presidential Power
This chapter s first section starts off by talking about how the presidency is
structured. It covers everything from how the Framers first deciding on a single
executive, to when term limits were set in place, how the Electoral College works,
what has been done about presidential succession and disability, and lastly the process
of impeachment. Moving on the next section covers the different theories of
presidential power; this includes the stewardship theory and the constitutional theory.
The difference between these two theories is the stewardship theory revolves around
the idea that executivepower can be used for any actions or initiatives as long as they
are not specifically prohibited by the Constitution, constitution theory on the other...

The next section covers how the president is able to appoint officials, federal judges,
and ambassadors thanks to Article II, Section 2. It also explains under what
circumstances the president can and cannot remove appointed officials without the
consent of the Senate. Moving on the subject of the presidential pardon is explained
in detail. The interesting thing with the presidential pardon is that while it does
restore the person s innocent status, the acceptance of it is tantamount to an
admission of guilt in the first place. Besides this the president is also able to grant
amnesties, which grant a person an essential blanket pardon, and are typically used in
the military cases. The following section goes over the concept of executive
privilege, and one of the most controversial times of its attempted use. Unfortunately,
though many times in the past executive privilege has been used for the good of the
country, there have been times where this privilege was abused as well. After this,
presidential immunity is the next focused point to be reviewed in this
Argumentative Essay On Orphan Children
Today there are around 140 million orphaned children around the globe. Orphaned
children are rarely spoken about nor does society educate itself on the complexity of
what being an orphan means. But speaking from experience, I understand the strain
of having to come to terms with the fact that you were abandoned. Despite one s best
efforts to maintain a fully functioning state of being, an emotional darkness always
maintains its presence and can pop out at any moment of low self confidence. Though
many orphaned children live many different types of lives; some are luckier than
others and some are stronger than others; many retain an unbalanced, sometimes,
unhealthy perceptions of themselves. I feel that ZenBuddhism would be the best
application for orphan children to think and practice in the here and now, learn to
accept aspects of life as they are, and attain compassion and detachment.
Buddhism has been touted as the cure all for many conscious, unconscious, and
physical illnesses. It has been especially exploited by the elites of America,
customized to fit their personal demands and desires. Paradoxically, I think the
diligent and honest study and practice of Buddhism can help those orphaned as
children, teenagers, or those living adult lives. More specifically, I believe that Zen
Buddhism and the practice of Zazen Meditation can harmonize and establish
themselves within the traditions and practices of Zen. At its core, Zen Buddhism is
practiced through meditation of allowing oneself to be conscious of their thoughts,
but at the same time letting them pass without acting upon them. To briefly
introduce, Zen Buddhism is comprised of two unique schools of Buddhism called
the Rinzai and Soto Zen Buddhism. The Rinzai sect in Japan found popularity
amongst the feudal lords and Shoguns. Soto, on the other hand, were penetrated
amongst the common people and were available to all because of its beauty in
simplicity. Despite Soto Zen being the most pervasive in Japanese practice, it was the
Rinzai sect that found popularity in the Western world. Regardless of its popularity
within the Western world, Soto Zen is more compatible in understanding and
reflecting on the life of being an orphan. One Japanese
Sassy Black Woman Essay
Daayyyuummm b*tch, dem animal prints on your jeans are hella on fleek. Who
do you picture when you read this quote? A young boy? A grandmother? You are
most likely picturing a black woman. But why is this? Have you actually ever heard
a black woman speak like this? My guess is probably not. So then why do you picture
a black woman? It could be because black women are often portrayed in movies and
television shows as loud and obnoxious characters, often accompanied by very
vibrant body language and proclamations of how independent they are. The trope of
the sassy black woman became popular on The Amos n Andy Show. The show
featured a woman named Sapphire, the demanding, finger waving wife of her
husband George. Since the popularity of this show, and specifically this sassy
character, other shows started to use it as well.... Show more content on

Her character evolves quite drastically over the 13 seasons, but in the first few
seasons she embodies this archetype perfectly. Miranda Bailey is a resident in charge
of training six interns. Her role is to act as a mother figure, and to guide and teach
them to become great doctors. She is an extremely feisty and bossy character,
earning her the nickname of Nazi given to her by her interns. The audience doesn t
see much at all of her personal life (until later seasons). Her role is solely to take
care of the other doctors. She is especially sassy in the episode, This is Why We
Fight , in which she says, You better be right. Cause if this boat goes under and I
don t have a life jacket, I m coming looking for you, fists swinging. And I m short,
so my punches land low . She clearly doesn t hesitate to put her interns in their place
by threatening violence, even in a professional environment. Miranda Bailey from

Completing All Of My Assignments For Writing
After completing all of my assignments for Writing 102, I have learned to manage my
researching and synthesizing skills in a different way. Furthermore, I now have a
better understanding of what I should include in my synthesizing process. After
reviewing the learning objectives, I have found that integrating evidence,
synthesizing, and producing research based writingin context are now familiar to me.
When I had passed in my first synthesis, a lot of the feedback that was given to me
was to further evaluate my context. The revisions that were provided, gave me the
chance to revaluate and restructure my evidence for a stronger summary. In my
opinion, synthesizing was the most important duty in this course. It taught me how to
closely match similar ideas together for a single analysis. It was interesting to weave
out information from one text and pair it with another. For example, in Synthesis #1,
I included both authors, Barbara Ehrenreichand Robert Reich. Ehrenreich s piece of
writing talked about the living conditions of a maid while Reich focused his work on
sinking boats. Even though each author talked about different circumstances, they
both discussed income inequality. Building my synthesizing skills was a major
advantage to me. I can now express to works that have similarities and differences.
Having a variety of examples that explain the same message in a different way is
important to include. This will influence readers in the point a writer is trying to make.

Lawlessness And Savagery In Jack And Jack s Lord Of The
Flies
Lord of the Flies is about a group of boys stranded on an island that must work
together to survive and get rescued. At first, civilization still has a firm grasp on
the boys, and they have rules to follow and a plan to get rescued. However, as time
goes on, lawlessness and savagery begins to set in, as they re just a pack of boys.
The death of two of the wisest boys on the island, Piggy and Simon, shows a real
turn of events and signals that the boys have finally turned savage. Evidently, no
matter how polished and civilized the boys may seem, at the end of the day when the
boys are stripped to their cores, their crueler nature shows.
Jack and Ralph work together, at least at the start, to keep everyone fed and happy.
They create rules to keep law and order, and have a conch that they blow to
assemble everyone. At the very beginning, the boys vote for a chief to lead the
tribe. Seems to me we ought to have a chief to decide things...with dreary obedience
the choir raised their hands...every hand outside the choir except Piggy s was raised

s rather charismatic and represents, at least to the little uns, the government.

Construction Industry Essay
According to Bureau of Labor Statistics, A total of 4836 workers died from an
occupational injury in 2015. The number reached the highest count since 2008
(CFOI). The focus of this research was on private industries from the year 2011 2015
as private sectors consistently accounted for over 89% of all fatal accidents over this
period. The three industries with the highest fatality count from 2011 2015, in
descending order, were construction, transportation, and agriculture. Several possible
major causes for the high fatality count in each industry and recommended actions are

More fatal injuries in construction resulted from slips, falls, and trips than from any
other events from 2011 2015, which implied that the lack of appropriate employee
training might be another cause of the high fatality count. One example was when
a worker lost his footing when climbing down a 400 foot telecommunication tower,
the ladder safety device did not activate to stop the employee s fall, he plunged 90
feet to his death (USDoL). The causes of his death were inadequate training on the
ladder safety device he used and the defective safety sleeve that failed to save him
when he fell. Another example, four construction workers were killed when the
north east side of a parking garage under construction collapsed. OSHA issued
citations to the five construction firms involved in the project for failing to provide
workers a workplace free from recognized hazards causing or likely to cause deaths
or serious physical harms. With a total of 765 fatal injuries, the transportation and
warehousing industry represented 15.82% of the total number of fatal injuries in
2015 (CFOI). The fatality count in the transportation industry rose from 749 in 2011
to 765 in 2015 (CFOI). Bureau of Labor Statistics shared that, Roadway incidents

on when one makes a small decision like what to eat to when one makes a big

Arguments Against Gun Control Laws In The United States
Countless opinions have been broadcasted on national news media regarding what
society ought to do about gun control. This controversial topic sparks many heated
debates with people of either position reluctant to compromise. Gun supporters claim
that the proposed gun laws infringe on their constitutional right to bear arms.
Conversely, others believe that restricted gun access would cause gun violence to
decrease. Regardless of what side one stands on, with the increase in gun violence, it
is safe to say that something must be done. The Second Amendment to the United
States Constitution protects the right of the people to possess armaments for their

To be honest, it makes sense... no guns, no gun violence. Not to mention, with
regards to United States history, gun regulations are not a recent motion. Indeed,
the first federal gun control law was the National Firearms Act of 1934. This law
required that all sales of firearms to be documented in the national registry.
Following the National Firearms Act of 1934, the Gun Control Act of 1968, the
first major gun control law in the United States, passed. This law prohibited certain
people from being able to purchase firearms including convicted felons, fugitives,
minors, individuals with a history of mental illness, dishonorable discharged
veterans, expatriates and illegal aliens (Riczo 2001). It also extended licensing
conditions to more gun merchants and required a more in depth record of sales. In
brief, the rules to acquire a firearm became stricter and the thought behind it was that
it would decrease crime. Nevertheless, with the increase in gun violence, it is not
certain that laws will prevent future
The Rosenberg Trial And Brown V. Board Of Education
Trials, court, and prosecutors, these are all words that are linked with one another in
order to provide an interpretation of justice. Justice has been perceived as decent
behavior or treatment, and those who do not obey by the rules are therefore
prosecuted. In history, two trials have been documented as the most stunning and
enriching cases regarding the topic of legitimacy. The Rosenberg trial and Brown v.
Board of Education, are both extraordinary alluring court cases, in which major
issues concerning justice and discrimination have been presented to law enforcers.
Individual rights were called into question in addition to the examination of the
justice system. Although both the Rosenberg trial and Brown v. Board of
Education have proven to be of vitality in regards to social awareness, both cases
have very little analogous, nevertheless there still remains the main theme of justice
and apprehension, in which these cases raised in relation to modern civilization.
Justice, otherwise known as the pillar of society and the annihilator of chaos has
always been present in the world, however, in numerous cases the ideology of justice
has been tainted as a result of societal influences. The Rosenberg trial serves as one
court case in which discrimination can be perceived throughout the court case. This
is so because of the fact that during the construction of the Rosenberg trial, many
citizens were frightened due to recent embodiment of the Red Scare. Julius

Who Is Andrew Carnegie A Hero
A role model is somebody who people look up to due to their extraordinary work,
experiences or personality. Every individual have at least one person they look up

individual who can define the phrase Rags to Riches . In some perspective, he can
be seen as heroic and kind, however, there are those who see him as a selfish
individual. Andrew Carnegiewas both a hero and a villain, considering he was a

Causes Of Civil Disobedience
Although civil disobedience rarely accomplishes the change that it demands directly,
it does create change indirectly through raising awareness and support. Civil
disobedience works by relying on the reaction of governments/societies after
individuals rebel to rally support for the protest. If the government/society violently
crushes the rebellion, as in the case of Antigone, then the civil disobediencewins by
creating pity and sorrow for the rebellion. However, if the government/society does
not react, then the individuals are still successful by being allowed to get away with
acts of civil disobedience which spread their cause.
Despite the tragedies surrounding the American Civil Rights Movement, change
could not have been made without the violent reaction to the movement. Rather than
stopping or slowing desegregation as the violent reactions intended, they only created
martyrs for which the Civil Rights Movement could rally around. Famously, J. W.
Milam and Roy Bryant kidnapped and murdered Emmett Till, a fourteen year old
African boy, on account of flirting with a white woman. Then, the guilty party was
found innocent despite overwhelming evidence otherwise. Although this incident
may have been notable on its own, it became a very powerful motivation for the
Civil Rights Movement through the confession/arrogance of the kidnappers, and the
work of Emmett Till s mother, Mamie Till. Infamously, Roy Bryant and J. W. Milam
sold the story of Emmett Till to reporter William

switch on and off with another player. Exercise is also good for volleyball because is
you don t you will be very out of shape and that s not good because you have to
have upper body strength and leg strength to jump. Now the disadvantages, the
first one is injurious. Injuries can happen really easily in volleyball because you
are jumping a lot and you slide all over the court and sometimes that can end up
with a bad injury. Sometimes when you re sliding you can hurt your knees like
popping them out of place or getting a burn. You can also hurt people on the other

incorporated. The year of 1971 was a game changer as Lamar Muse joined Air
Southwest as President and Air Southwest changed its name to Southwest Co. The
mission and vision of Air Southwest during this time was to eliminate unnecessary
services and to utilize secondary airports in order to offer the lowest fares in the
industry. Fast forward to 2016 and Herb has stepped down as the chairman for
Southwest, the mission however is still the same, dedication to provide the highest
level of customer while delivering a sense of warmth, friendliness, individual pride,
and Company Spirit. Which embodies the values Southwest has exhibited for years
and that s to live the Southwest Way, to have a warrior spirit, a servant s heart, a fun

In order to ensure a successful merger, Southwest must ensure that the current culture
is maintained regarding both organizations and to merge the benefits and
compensation plans. Completing such as task will require cultivation of talents and
to preserve its business culture. Expanding Southwest Airlines to accommodate
AirTran means discussing the strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats
regarding the expansion of such a sizable merger. Lastly, a merger of this magnitude
will require recruiting and hiring to address the expansion level impact and minimize

Persuasive Essay On Road Biking
Road biking is an awesome way to amplify your fitness should you decide to add it
to your training. First and foremost I have always been a mountain biker, with
cyclocross being a close second. I much prefer dirt, dust, mud, and rocks in contrast
to smooth black tar of the roads. Playing amongst the trees and bushes is a frivolity
that I enjoy often. Wheels flicking through the loose terrain, sliding left, sliding right,
barely in control of your machine but yet always somehow making it to the bottom of
the trailin one piece.
Mountain biking is about battling against yourself and what nature may throw at
you. A big storm could bring change to a familiar trail. For example, a driving rain
throughout the night might create a giant rut down the center of a fireroad.
However, a sandy or dusty trail will wash away leaving a huge hole unseen until
you are almost upon it. Then and only then you have split second decision to
make: should I jump the hole or is an out of control brake slam my only
alternative? Mishaps are generally due to rider error when mountain biking.
Comparatively, you may navigate a rock garden too slowly or careen into a corner
too quickly thus landing in the brush. Or probably slide out on a sand patch or lose
speed on a technical climb falling backward (which I have done). As a mountain
biker, we have less external influences when navigating the terrain so any mistakes
you may experience can be chalked up to rider error.

Driving under the influence
Even though people who drink regularly feel there is no issue with driving after one
or two drinks, people should think about the severe consequences that come from
driving under the influence. Numerous people die every year due to intoxicated
drivers. There are ways of avoiding these life changing risks. Appointing a designated
driver before drinking or calling an uber is a smart way to plan ahead. Unfortunately
not everyone takes the initiative to prevent these avoidable circumstances.
There are a large number of wrecks due to drunk drivers. For example, In 2015,
10,265 people died in alcohol impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one
third (29%) of all traffic related deaths in the United States (Impaired Driving).
These crashes are not only harmful, but can also be very expensive. People who
drink and drive typically do not consider the potential costs that will be incurred if
pulled over by police, state highway patrol or sheriff deputies as well as being
involved in an accident or fatal car crash. Drunk driving costs the United States $199
billion per year (Snyder). This includes the expense of road clean up, medical
services, court cases, insurance and much more. These costs are leading indicators of
how extensive and severe drunk driving is making a devastating financial impact on
the American economy.
Drunk drivers tend to be young when caught driving under the
Cost Accounting
Chapter 1
Basic Cost Concepts
Learning Objectives
To understand the meaning of different costing terms to understand different costing
methods
To have a basic idea of different costing techniques
To understand the meaning of cost sheet
In order to determine and take a dispassionate view about what lies beneath the
surface of accounting figures, a financial analyst has to make use of different
management accounting techniques. Cost techniques have a precedence over the
other techniques since accounting treatment of cost is often both complex and
financially significant. For example, if a firm proposes to increase its output by
10%, is it reasonable to expect total cost to increase by less than 10%, exactly 10% or

are also given due consideration by management before deciding upon the price but
the cost plays a dominating role.
Determining and Controlling Efficiency
Cost accounting involves a study of various operations used in manufacturing a
product or providing a service. The study facilitates measuring the efficiency of an
organization as a whole or department wise as well as devising means of increasing
efficiency.
Cost accounting also uses a number of methods, e.g., budgetary control, standard
costing etc. for controlling costs. Each item viz. materials, labour and expenses is
budgeted at the commencement of a period and actual expenses incurred are
compared with budget. This greatly increases the operating efficiency of an enterprise.
Facilitating Preparation of Financial and Other Statements
The third objective of cost accounting is to produce statements whenever is required
by management. The financial statements are prepared under financial accounting
generally once a year or half year and are spaced too far with respect to time to meet
the needs of management. In order to operate a business at a high level of efficiency,
it is essential for management to have a frequent review of production, sales and
operating results. Cost accounting provides daily, weekly or monthly volumes of
units produced and accumulated costs with appropriate analysis. A developed cost
accounting system provides immediate information regarding stock of raw

The black population in fact more than quadrupled that of the white population, yet it
was the white community that owned nearly 90% of the land leaving the black
population with only twenty percent of the overall wealth in the country.[7] Such was
the disparity in living conditions that the infant mortality rate of the black community
averaged somewhere near thirty percent with compared to two point seven for white
families.[8] The climax of centuries of white oppression came to a head following the
Boipatong Massacre with a small number of radicals turning the fight to overthrow
apartheid into a struggle to fight the oppression of the white minority and exact
revenge for generations upon generations of injustice they had carried out.
South Africa teetered on the brink of civil as a minority of the white population,
unwilling to relinquish the special status they held, worsened the situation in actively
opposing the liberation movement. Extremists from the white minority regime and

Nelson Mandela that never came to fruition.[9] Though international opinion stood

Newborn Screening Case Study
I think it is extremely interesting the newborn screening programs within the United
States vary from state to state. In DC, newborns are screened for 52 55 genetic and
metabolic disorders. In your state program screens for_______. The amount of test

consent, test result documentation, test results notification to parents or the
healthcare provider vary as well from state to state. States screening programs

identification number (17.4%), a letter (26.1%), or a parents signature (26.1%)... In
74.5% of programs, parents are notified but not asked for consent before collection of

The lack of unity in the NBS practices does present some ethical issues. If the
informed consent is required before screen is completed, and the consent form binds
that the newborns information is place in a public database it may violate the wants
of the parent. Often times the consent forms are too dense with knowledge and
briefly explain by the unit clerks to the parents (Kenner and Lewis, 2013). What
happens if the consent form is required prior to testing, and the parent does not agree
with all the legal implications within the form? It forces the parent to adhere to what

impact them in the future (i.e. public records and health insurance rates) (Black,
The Pledge Of Allegiance Pros And Cons
Part one:
Seventy three years ago Congress got the United States out of what had turned into
an unexpectedly embarrassing situation. It concerned the Pledge of Allegiance
specifically, something called the Bellamy Salute Most people today have likely
never heard of it, but the Bellamy Salute was once a constant part of the country s
life. Until 1892, there was no such thing as a Pledge of Allegiance(Greene) The
Pledge of Allegiance of the United States is an expression of allegiance to the Flag of
the United States and the republic of theUnited States of America, originally
composed by Francis Bellamy in 1892 and formally adopted by Congress as the
pledge in 1942.[1] The official name of The Pledge of Allegiance was adopted in
1945. The last change in language came on Flag Day 1954 when the words under
God were added. But since that day, lots of controversies happened regarding
adding the word Under God . This event made some Americans upset. Pledging our
allegiance to a flag that flies over a nation under God has become a point of
contention for some. Gwen Wilde, a student at Tufts University, explains in her
essay, Why the Pledge of Allegiance Should Be Revised that the addition of the
words under God is inappropriate, and they are needlessly divisive an odd addition

Warsaw Ghetto During The Holocaust
The Holocaust can be described as the prosecution and death of about six million
Jews in Europe by the Nazis between 1933 and 1945. Other ethnic groups like
pygmies were destroyed as well. The Holocaust started when Hitler became
Chancellor in 1933 and passed decree/laws removing Jews as citizens of the
country. Overtime when the Nazis occupied majority of Europe, the Jews were
forced to move out of their homes to live in specific areas under harsh conditions
which are also known as ghettos and were later transferred to the death camps. The
ghettos could be described as the Jewish city districts in which the Jews were
meant to live in order to be separated from the Non Jewish population. One of the
biggest types of ghettos was the Warsaw Ghetto in Poland where more than
400,000 Jews were crowded into an area of 1.3 square miles and were living in
harsh conditions. This was established On October 12 1940 after the decree the
establishment of a ghetto in Warsaw. All Jewish residents of Warsaw were
supposed to move into a small area, which was eventually sealed by the Nazis from
the other citizens in November 1940. The ghetto was enclosed by a wall that was
over 10 feet high, topped with barbed wire, and closely guarded to prevent
movement between the ghetto and the rest of Warsaw. The end of 1940 found
Warsaw Jews confined to a 1.36 square mile area that was surrounded by a 10 foot
wall topped with barbed wire and broken glass. Within the ghetto there was

Depression
The Trail of Evidence From Treatment To Causes of Depression
When a person is depressed, the primary characteristic is a subjective awareness of
mood change: the person has an ongoing feeling of sadness or emptiness. This feeling
is often accompanied by eating disturbances, feelings of hopelessness, inability to
concentrate, indecisiveness, sleep disturbances, lost interest in enjoyable activities,
psychomotor retardation, fatigue, sluggishness or lethargy, and is often co morbid
with other disorders, especially anxiety.
This constellation of feelings and observable behaviors give rise the term depression.
In cases where the depression is not severe or recurrent, psychotherapy alone may be
sufficient. However, in many cases, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it is true that the state of the nervous system at any moment is a complex
interplay of both input from the external world and the system s own internal biases
and states, so that the internal/external dichotomy is perhaps an oversimplification I
think that patients who respond favorably to psychotherapy alone (and don t
experience later relapses) may represent a qualitatively different underlying etiology
than those who experience recurrent, persistent and debilitating depression. Put
differently, if the nervous system is constantly changing, and we recognize that some
of the changes are more temporary while others reflect more lasting modifications, the
patients for whom psychotherapy alone is effective perhaps reflect more transient
underlying nervous system changes.
In terms of a biosocial stress diathesis model (diathesis refers to biological
predisposition and stress to environmental contribution), these psychotherapy
receptive patients may have a low diathesis, and whatever environmental stressors
have occurred to induce depression, have not done so to the extent that they have
altered the biological system in a pervasive and lasting way. Therefore, the scope of
this paper will not further address this group of depression sufferers, concentrating
instead on those who experience persistent, severe and/or recurrent depression, whose
manifestations and course suggest stable changes to the nervous system in a variety
of ways,
Analyzing The Kurdish Women s Movement
1.2.Analyzing the Kurdish Women s Movement
The Partiya KarkerГЄn Kurdistan (PKK) contains one of the largest contingents of
armed women militants in the world (Duzgun, 2015). The movement is acclaimed as
a foreign terrorist organisation by Turkey, and many western countries. Since the
fight against the Islamic State in Syria, and Iraq this has constructed a superior
condition between the United States, and the PKK, in exchanging for delisting the
PKK as a terrorist organisation (Phillips Berkell, 2016). Although the political
understanding of the movement may differ in states, the enduring of the conflict can
be outlined, with the second largest NATO army on one side, and an armed national
liberation movement on the other (Dirik, 2015). ... Show more content on

In theory this implies the idea of a society to resist without being militarist, rejecting
state concepts. This concept interlinks to the rose theory, in which Ocalan reclaims
that the society must first all xwebun , which means oneself. The image of designing
a society that acts as xwebun , essentially in theory concludes a society where
individuals are aware politically, rather than having a society rely on laws that were
formed within the framework of the capitalist state. Although, the image of the
Kurdish female fighters is often pictured in conflict, we must not forget that its
resistance against ISIS, and state actors is a form of self defense, and not a form of
force operating to take revenge. One could understand that being stateless in frame of
the nation state makes the individual unguarded in terms not only in terms of
political, but in terms of social, and economic aspects. It makes the statement far

Why Is Martha Graham Important To Dance
Martha Graham was born May 11th, 1894 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania United States
(Terry, 2016). Martha was a noteworthy dancer, teacher, and choreographer who
specialized in ballet. Over more than 50 years she created more than 180 works, from
solos to large scale works, in most of which she herself danced. She gave modern
dancenew depth as a vehicle for the intense and forceful expression of primal
emotions (Terry, 2016, pg. 1). As the daughter if an esteemed physician this sparked
her interest in expression through bodily movements. Dance is considered to be a
form of self expression and can often times tell a story, knowing this, Martha often

She would often use her influential status, as a well respected ambassador, and

Graham Dance Company became one of the first dance troupes sent abroad under
the auspices of President Dwight D. Eisen hower s 1954 Emergency Fund for
International Affairs (Geduld, 2010, pg. 44). For Martha, she wanted her dances to
say something and make a statement and due to her popularity they often did.
Some of her more famous and moving works were about country and people s
struggles across various cultures. Her 1927 piece, Revolt, was one of her first

The Planning Of Software Development Project
ABSTRACT In the planning of software development project, a major challenge
faced by project managers is to predict the re work effort. (re work effort is the
effort require to fix the software defects identified during system testing). Project
manager objective is to deliver the software that not only meets the time and cost
requirements but also the quality requirements given by the client. To ensure the
quality of the software, many testing cycle will be conducted before it is finally
delivered to the client for acceptance. Each testing cycle is a costly affair as it
involves running all possible test scenarios in all possible environments, followed
by defect fixing and re verification of defects. On average, there are 2 3 testing
cycle conducted but this depends on number of defects identified during testing.
Number of defects will depend on the team expertise and whether they earlier
worked on similar projects and technologies. Hence, it becomes critical to predict
the number of defects identified during testing and it is a very challenging task as it
requires a good predicting model to predict the re work effort. In this paper, we
describe the relationship among software size, no of software defects, productivity
and efforts for web based development projects. This relationship is established by
using the multiple linear regression technique on the benchmarking data published by
International Software Benchmarking Standard Group. Results suggest that web

The Puritan Era
There is no doubt in history that the Puritan era was a fascinating, and remarkable
time. The Puritans indeed shaped young America, and the early years of the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Puritans had deep pride in their community,
and even greater pride in their faith, and their beliefs. Religion was the most
important aspect of their community, and they wanted it to be the center focus of the
society that they were building. Their faith was continuously practiced, and preached
from the time they were a newborn, and continued upon the day that they passed.
They found that literature was the most ingenious way to teach their faith. In order
for everybody to be able to master the religion, they set up classrooms, and hired
teachers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Puritans greatest value was without a doubt their religion, and their faith. They
valued trying to enforce an education for the children, in order for the practice of
their religion to be sought out, and carried on for generations to come. The
importance of education was shown in the first educational law in Massachusetts
which was called, The Old Deluder Act of 1647 . This law stated that, It is therefore
ordered that every township in this jurisdiction, after the Lord hath increased them to
fifty households shall forthwith appoint one within their town to teach all such
children as shall resort to him to write and read, whose wages shall be paid either by
the parents or masters of such children, or by the inhabitants in general, by way of
supply, as the major part of those that order the prudentials of the town shall appoint;
provided those that send their children be not oppressed by paying much more than
they can have them taught for in other towns. ( The Old Deluder Act (1647). )This
law showed the magnitude of how important education was for their community. The
importance of family was also a strong value amongst the Puritans. Puritans such as,
Anne Bradstreet truly showed the emphasis, and importance on family life within the
lines of her poetry. Her poetry truly gave insight on the community, and what was
important for the families. One poem in particular that shows what family meant to a
mother during the Puritan era is titled, In Reference to Her Children. Bradstreet
strong emotions towards her beloved children are shown in lines such, That did
what could be done for young / And nurst you up till you were strong / And fore she
once would let you fly / She shew d you joy and misery, / Taught what was good, and
what was ill, / What would save life, and what would kill. / Thus gone, amongst you I
may live, / And dead, yet speak and counsel give. / Farewell, my

After reading If Hitler asked you I was astonished to read that the experiment where
participants electrocuted an individual was intense. I can t even imagine being
asked to inflict that kind of intense pain to another human. I understand that
everyone can state that in the beginning and over time their moral compass may
change. Meyer realized that many of his participants were able to inflict even the
more severe voltages past 15 volts like 435 and 450. I found it interesting the
difference between the Yale students and Bridgeport because Yale students were
more obedient. Was it because of how they were raised not to question authority like
The U.S upper class stated or was because of their moral compasses? Also, I thought
it was interesting
What Are The Effects Of Wolf Reintroduction
In 1995 the gray wolf (Canis lupus) was reintroduced into Yellowstone National
Park. The park had been without resident wolves for 70 years prior, when they
were killed off in the 1930 s. This meant that in those 70 years there was no research
on the effects of wolves on the park s ecosystem. In the decades since the
reintroduction, research has been able to proceed and has found some amazing
results. Not only did the reintroduction of wolvesimpact animal life, but it also had an
impact on plant life. In the past it was thought that an ecosystem was built from the
bottom up... with plant life as the basis from which everything grew. Almost all
conservation and reintroduction efforts were based on this idea. (Mission: Wolf

Mood And Atmosphere In Macbeth
Shakespeare manages to create an ominous mood and atmosphere in the short
opening scene of Macbeth through the characters and his choice of words. The
characters that we are introduced to in the first scene are witches. Even today,
witches are seen as evil beings and usually play villain in most stories. The three
witchespossess supernatural gifts such as prophesying the future. In the first lines of
the scenes, the First Witch seems to be able to control the weather and limits the
choices to just, thunder, lightning, and rain. This might be a sign that a storm is
brewing. The next character that we are technically introduced to is Macbeth. Though
we have only heard the mention of his name, he is the only the human to be named

Beach Metal Detecting Research Paper
Metal detecting on beaches is a popular hobby shared by many people. It is fun and
easy, and your chances of finding some treasure are good. Treasure hunting
happens in all types of environment, but beach metal detecting is one of the more
common locations for people who enjoy this activity. Many people lose something
when they go to a beach. You could be lucky enough to reap the rewards. A coin,
ring or other small object dropped in the sand disappears quickly. People can drop
coins, keys or other items while lounging around or playing in the sand. Someone
can easily lose things playing in the water after applying slippery sunscreen.
Although you may not find something every time you go out, imagine the
excitement of finding a piece of gold jewelry or a hundred year old coin. Great
finds, easy recovery and pleasant surroundings make the beach a perfect location
for finding lost treasure. Finding a buried coin or piece of jewelry in the clean sand
found on most beaches makes detecting fun for beginners and experienced hunters.
Make sure you have the right kind of metal detector for the area you are hunting.
Stay out of the water if your detector is not water rated, or it can be quickly
destroyed. Location is important in metal detecting. You can learn about spots that

There are several things you can do to insure coming home with more than just
trash. Think about where to find the untapped resource of the beach. Obviously
you are bound to find lost treasures where more people congregate. Find a beach
area that is visited by many people but not yet popular with metal detectorists.
There could be a less popular beach a short distance away. Areas of beaches without
lifeguards are probably not visited by people who go in the water; however, these
areas may be frequented by joggers, fishermen, surfers or even dog
Pros And Cons Of Needle Sharing Practices
syringes, which in turn increases the transmission risk of deadly to human body
pathogens through the needle sharing practice.
If needle exchange programs will be banned in United States than it will cause even
greater stigma towards needle sharing practices. Even today, in the 21st century due
restriction policies and laws against publically available injecting equipment, most
people developed a negative attitude towards a needle exchange programs. As was
mentioned by Dr. Epidemiol, most of the time individuals that engage in needle
sharing practices would not report the fact of needle sharing , even if it indeed
occurred. Less drug users would report it because most people feel stigmatized if
they tell in public about the act of needle sharing.
Toddlers In Tiaras Analysis
The article Toddlers in Tiaras was written by Skip Hollandsworth, and was
published August 2011 in Good Housekeeping magazine. Hollandsworth wrote this
article in response to the actual show Toddlers and Tiaras that first aired on
December 12, 2008, and reached its all time high with the production of Here
comes Honey Boo Boo starring Alana Thompson, aka honey boo boo . He contends
that children pageants presents, and accentuates the hypersexualization of young
girls who then make it their life s goal to achieve the unattainable goal of perfection.
The article can be divided into six sections. In the introduction Hollandsworth begins
the article by first giving us an example of the process of what a regular process is...

Hollandsworth then goes into details of the absurd amount of money parents invests
to pay for their child to gain the lusted after tiara, some payments way above their
income.Hollandsworth then reverts back to the death of JonBenet Ramsey in the
fourth section. He presents that she was the mark of a pedophile due to her
participating in pageants, linking her adversity to a little pageants girl worst
nightmare. According to the Stacy Dittrich, a former detective, a show like Toddlers
and Tiaras is the kind of videos pedophiles would watch. The publication of these girls
makes it easier for pedophile to track them down, as their towns and names would be
listed on their outing. Though there is little evidence suggesting that pageants put
little girls under risk, many psychologist still believe that pageants teach girls to be
objects of others gratification. The girls being encouraged to act in flirtatious
manners, understanding that their sexuality will get others notice. The pageant girls
are learning that outer beauty overshadows all else, including being knowledgeable or
resourceful. They re learning that their natural beauty is never enough, and equaling
their self esteem and worth to who is the most attractive girl. The author then presents

The Vietnam War Protests
The Vietnam War protests happened in the 1960s in America and was a part of the
Cold War. People and specifically, youths, such as college students, protested mostly
about the draft and the inhumane conditions and implications of the war. There were
many violent street protests that escalated into violent riots and fires. The Tunisian or
Jasmine Revolution took place from 2010 2011 in Tunisia. The youth, such as young
adults, protested mostly about government corruption such as repression of civil
liberties and rights. Both these protests were spurred and carried on mainly by
passionate youth activists. While the characteristics for youth activism in both
America and Tunisia are similar in that they both included violent protests and arson,

Youth chose to protest because their peers, friends, and family members were being
drafted as a part of the Selective Service Act, which forced American men to register
with a local draft board once they became 18 years old (Brannan, the United States v.
O Brien ). The draft made many youths upset because they felt that it was unfair that
the people they cared about were forced to fight in a war that they did not believe in
or want to fight in, as many felt that the United States soldiers were too harsh towards
the Vietnamese who posed no direct threat to the United States. It was felt that the
young men were fighting the war waged by old men. In addition, many felt
empathetic towards the young men who fought, as youth felt upset that some people
who were the same age of them died, and that those men could have been them. This
is why many youths turned towards activism in order to protest against the Vietnam
War. Protests against the Vietnam War were a very common form of expression on
college campuses. One of the most famous protests on college campuses happened on
the Kent State University Campus in Kent, Ohio. The drafting of students,
specifically for the invasion of Cambodia, caused students to hold a rally on May
1st, 1970 and burn down the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) building.
There was another rally 4 days later, which included 2,000 students. The National
Guard showed up and opened fire killing 4 students and wounding 9 others. This
event became known as the Kent State Massacre (Batchelor, Kent State Massacre ).
The students burned down the ROTC building because some people would go there
and enlist because they knew they were going to get drafted, so enlisting would at
least give them the choice to be higher in rank and gain more privilege. Therefore,
the ROTC building symbolized U.S. soldiers going to fight

Protecting the environment is an issue which immensely important to me, and
knowing that this university emphasizes a healthy environment furthers my interest
in being a part of its community. I know that at this university I will not feel lonely
or isolated, as I did in the past three years. During my sophomore year, my life has
completely changed: I moved from Poland to the United States. It was definitely one
of the greatest challenges during high school. New surroundings, lack of friends to
confide in and language barrier were some of the biggest problems. It was not easy
to adjust at first, but I pushed myself to get better grades and acclimate to this new
way of living. I am proud of the fact that I did not qualify to take ESL since my
level of English was already high. Unfortunately, my freshman year grades are
transferred from Poland, where the school system is different and it is
exceptionally difficult to get As. Also, my sophomore year was my first year in
the US, and I did not do as good in school and I would want to, because of the
factors I have mentioned above. I know that solitude will not be a problem at
Montclair State University, because I can see myself joining Montclair State
John Brown Martyr
Some believed that John Brown was a maniac more than a martyr, but history
proves that he was more of a martyr. John Brown believed that all men should be
considered equal and have the right to freedom. Beginning in his early childhood
and all the way though his life, he had a passion to abolish slavery. Learning from a
young age, that all men should have the right to freedom and equality, started a fire
inside of John Brown. This was a burning passion to help free slaves and make the
world a better place. John Brown was born in Torrington, Connecticut on the 9 of
May in 1800. John Brown s parents were Owen and Ruth Brown. John had 6
siblings, and he was the 3rd oldest among the 6. Growing up Owen Brown taught his
children of the Calvinists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On July 2, 1859, John Brown arrived in Harpers Ferry, but he is identified as Isaac
Smith, Nelson Hawkins, and Shabel Morgan. Shortly after getting to town, John
Brown rents out an old isolated farm house that was 5 miles northwest of Harpers
Ferry. This farm house was well known as the Kennedy farm. Soon after he starts
to get an army of abolitionist together to prepare for the raid on Harpers Ferry.
Brown s daughter Anne and daughter in law came to help John at the Kennedy
farm. They help with the housekeeping, such as the cooking and cleaning. The
raider, or the men who came to help Brown, had to be kept up in the attic of the
Kennedy farm, so nobody would see them. The men that hid in the attic were of
many different races and colors. Many of whom that came to help Brown were his
family members. A plan called the drill manual, was made by the name Hugh
Forbes. This was the plan for the raid that would free the slaves, which included
guerilla warfare. Forbes quits in August after realizing what a crazy idea this was.
The raid on Harpers Ferry was founded by the secret six which include, Samuel
Gridley Howe, Thomas Wentworth Higginson, George Stearns, Franklin Sanborn,
Theodore Parker, and Gerrit Smith. On October 16, 1859, John Brown starts his raid
on Harpers Ferry. First he take his men and his wagon that contains pikes and sharp
carbines, and starts heading to town. First he has John Cook and

  • 2. The Ethics Of Eating By Eric Dickers Analysis Unfavorable Towards Employers When it comes to figuring out an author s point of view, it can be simple or complicated. We have to pay close attention to the author s text and ideas to claim a single point of view by analyzing the tone, diction, purpose, and modes of discourse. Readings can have a favorable, unfavorable, neutral, or an ambivalent point of view depending on how the other chooses their words. An author can easily demonstrate how they feel about the topic they are writing such as Eric Haas. Through his writing in his essay, The Ethics of Eating , we can see Haas does not support the maltreat of farm workers. It is common farm workers have one of the low paying jobs, but being treated bad by their employers is wrong. Haas is very clear about this subject in his writing. The Ethics of Eating: Consider the Farmworkers the essay by Eric Haas, has an unfavorable point of view towards employers mistreating their farm workers. In The Ethics of Eating: Consider the Farmworkers by Eric Haas, the author starts off by mentioning a trip he took with Slow Food Portland members in search for the origins of their food. He states they were going to meet with farm workers and visit their homes which are provided by their employers, or by nonprofit organizations such as the Farm worker Housing Development Corporation also knows as FHDC. He then continues by claiming that food being grown and distributed in our country is harmful to our health, but that problem is already

  • 4. Physics in Bow and Arrow Shooting When people think of shooting a bow they may think of back in time when the Indians used to shoot their longbows. When you look at it from that perspective it seems like bows are such a simple piece of equipment. Unless you ve really sat down and looked at a compound bow you wouldn t understand that there can be so many parts to make it function properly. For example, the string moving at such a high rate of speed to launch the arrow, then comes to a complete stop in just a fraction of a second with very minimal vibration. How does that not tear something up? There are several key parts to know that is on a compound bow: cam, limbs, string, and riser. A cam is what makes the difference between a plain recurve and a compound bow. A cam is a particular object at the top and bottom of a bow that rotates as you pull the string of the bow back. Now why are cams such a big advancement to that of a recurve? Cams allow bows to shoot higher feet per second and allow the arrow to have more kinetic energy, thus make the arrow travel faster and further, and penetrate deeper into the object you are shooting. With the invention of cams, came the very helpful let off. Unlike recurves, compounds have specifically shaped cams to allow for let off. This means, when you are drawing back your bow it is not a constant 60 to 70 pound pull back the whole time, it gives you a break. With a compound bow set on a 70 pound draw weight, you might only draw 70 pounds back have off your draw length, then

While being located about 100 miles from Chicago this is a farm town. It is, a town where a young Lincoln fought in the Blackhawk Indian Wars, a town where Ronald Reagan grew up, and the town with the biggest municipal embezzlement scandal in U.S. history (Visit Dixon Illinois). Rita Crundwell started working at city hall while she was in high school, and was always known as a hard worker. Rita was persuaded to skip college and work full time for the comptroller of the city. In 1983 after the retirement of her boss Crundwell was promoted to the roll of comptroller, because she knew how everything in the city worked and it was an easy transition. By the late 1980s, says Jim Dixon (Dixon Mayor during this time), she controlled virtually everything having to do with the city s money. She balanced the checkbook. She wrote the checks. She made the deposits. She requested funds... Financial statements were sent to a City of Dixon post office box that she controlled; when she was away, a relative collected the mail (Smith 3). The memo was written after the nurse s offense as stated in the conclusion of the memo if she continues to have issues even after the redemption plan there will be additional measures. The problem memorandum assignment appears to not be written in response to a specific incident report as the first memo, it is clearly written as a reaction and demand of action from polices and the system. Nurses are a large component to keeping readmission rates down through spending time with a patient and educating and empowering patients on self care through helping patients understand importance of medication regimen adherence, importance of diet adherence, ways to reduce infection and various other skills to care for self at home (Problem Memorandum Assignment, 2015) The documents exigence is crucial the audience to better the outcome of patients and that of the health
  • 7. Stewardship Theories Of Presidential Power This chapter s first section starts off by talking about how the presidency is structured. It covers everything from how the Framers first deciding on a single executive, to when term limits were set in place, how the Electoral College works, what has been done about presidential succession and disability, and lastly the process of impeachment. Moving on the next section covers the different theories of presidential power; this includes the stewardship theory and the constitutional theory. The difference between these two theories is the stewardship theory revolves around the idea that executivepower can be used for any actions or initiatives as long as they are not specifically prohibited by the Constitution, constitution theory on the other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next section covers how the president is able to appoint officials, federal judges, and ambassadors thanks to Article II, Section 2. It also explains under what circumstances the president can and cannot remove appointed officials without the consent of the Senate. Moving on the subject of the presidential pardon is explained in detail. The interesting thing with the presidential pardon is that while it does restore the person s innocent status, the acceptance of it is tantamount to an admission of guilt in the first place. Besides this the president is also able to grant amnesties, which grant a person an essential blanket pardon, and are typically used in the military cases. The following section goes over the concept of executive privilege, and one of the most controversial times of its attempted use. Unfortunately, though many times in the past executive privilege has been used for the good of the country, there have been times where this privilege was abused as well. After this, presidential immunity is the next focused point to be reviewed in this
  • 8. Argumentative Essay On Orphan Children Today there are around 140 million orphaned children around the globe. Orphaned children are rarely spoken about nor does society educate itself on the complexity of what being an orphan means. But speaking from experience, I understand the strain of having to come to terms with the fact that you were abandoned. Despite one s best efforts to maintain a fully functioning state of being, an emotional darkness always maintains its presence and can pop out at any moment of low self confidence. Though many orphaned children live many different types of lives; some are luckier than others and some are stronger than others; many retain an unbalanced, sometimes, unhealthy perceptions of themselves. I feel that ZenBuddhism would be the best application for orphan children to think and practice in the here and now, learn to accept aspects of life as they are, and attain compassion and detachment. Buddhism has been touted as the cure all for many conscious, unconscious, and physical illnesses. It has been especially exploited by the elites of America, customized to fit their personal demands and desires. Paradoxically, I think the diligent and honest study and practice of Buddhism can help those orphaned as children, teenagers, or those living adult lives. More specifically, I believe that Zen Buddhism and the practice of Zazen Meditation can harmonize and establish themselves within the traditions and practices of Zen. At its core, Zen Buddhism is practiced through meditation of allowing oneself to be conscious of their thoughts, but at the same time letting them pass without acting upon them. To briefly introduce, Zen Buddhism is comprised of two unique schools of Buddhism called the Rinzai and Soto Zen Buddhism. The Rinzai sect in Japan found popularity amongst the feudal lords and Shoguns. Soto, on the other hand, were penetrated amongst the common people and were available to all because of its beauty in simplicity. Despite Soto Zen being the most pervasive in Japanese practice, it was the Rinzai sect that found popularity in the Western world. Regardless of its popularity within the Western world, Soto Zen is more compatible in understanding and reflecting on the life of being an orphan. One Japanese
  • 9. Sassy Black Woman Essay Daayyyuummm b*tch, dem animal prints on your jeans are hella on fleek. Who do you picture when you read this quote? A young boy? A grandmother? You are most likely picturing a black woman. But why is this? Have you actually ever heard a black woman speak like this? My guess is probably not. So then why do you picture a black woman? It could be because black women are often portrayed in movies and television shows as loud and obnoxious characters, often accompanied by very vibrant body language and proclamations of how independent they are. The trope of the sassy black woman became popular on The Amos n Andy Show. The show featured a woman named Sapphire, the demanding, finger waving wife of her husband George. Since the popularity of this show, and specifically this sassy character, other shows started to use it as well.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her character evolves quite drastically over the 13 seasons, but in the first few seasons she embodies this archetype perfectly. Miranda Bailey is a resident in charge of training six interns. Her role is to act as a mother figure, and to guide and teach them to become great doctors. She is an extremely feisty and bossy character, earning her the nickname of Nazi given to her by her interns. The audience doesn t see much at all of her personal life (until later seasons). Her role is solely to take care of the other doctors. She is especially sassy in the episode, This is Why We Fight , in which she says, You better be right. Cause if this boat goes under and I don t have a life jacket, I m coming looking for you, fists swinging. And I m short, so my punches land low . She clearly doesn t hesitate to put her interns in their place by threatening violence, even in a professional environment. Miranda Bailey from Grey s Anatomy undoubtedly depicts the sassy black woman stereotype, especially in the earlier seasons of the
  • 10. Completing All Of My Assignments For Writing After completing all of my assignments for Writing 102, I have learned to manage my researching and synthesizing skills in a different way. Furthermore, I now have a better understanding of what I should include in my synthesizing process. After reviewing the learning objectives, I have found that integrating evidence, synthesizing, and producing research based writingin context are now familiar to me. When I had passed in my first synthesis, a lot of the feedback that was given to me was to further evaluate my context. The revisions that were provided, gave me the chance to revaluate and restructure my evidence for a stronger summary. In my opinion, synthesizing was the most important duty in this course. It taught me how to closely match similar ideas together for a single analysis. It was interesting to weave out information from one text and pair it with another. For example, in Synthesis #1, I included both authors, Barbara Ehrenreichand Robert Reich. Ehrenreich s piece of writing talked about the living conditions of a maid while Reich focused his work on sinking boats. Even though each author talked about different circumstances, they both discussed income inequality. Building my synthesizing skills was a major advantage to me. I can now express to works that have similarities and differences. Having a variety of examples that explain the same message in a different way is important to include. This will influence readers in the point a writer is trying to make.

  • 12. Lawlessness And Savagery In Jack And Jack s Lord Of The Flies Lord of the Flies is about a group of boys stranded on an island that must work together to survive and get rescued. At first, civilization still has a firm grasp on the boys, and they have rules to follow and a plan to get rescued. However, as time goes on, lawlessness and savagery begins to set in, as they re just a pack of boys. The death of two of the wisest boys on the island, Piggy and Simon, shows a real turn of events and signals that the boys have finally turned savage. Evidently, no matter how polished and civilized the boys may seem, at the end of the day when the boys are stripped to their cores, their crueler nature shows. Jack and Ralph work together, at least at the start, to keep everyone fed and happy. They create rules to keep law and order, and have a conch that they blow to assemble everyone. At the very beginning, the boys vote for a chief to lead the tribe. Seems to me we ought to have a chief to decide things...with dreary obedience the choir raised their hands...every hand outside the choir except Piggy s was raised (22 23). The focus of this research was on private industries from the year 2011 2015 as private sectors consistently accounted for over 89% of all fatal accidents over this period. The three industries with the highest fatality count from 2011 2015, in descending order, were construction, transportation, and agriculture. More fatal injuries in construction resulted from slips, falls, and trips than from any other events from 2011 2015, which implied that the lack of appropriate employee training might be another cause of the high fatality count. One example was when a worker lost his footing when climbing down a 400 foot telecommunication tower, the ladder safety device did not activate to stop the employee s fall, he plunged 90 feet to his death (USDoL). The causes of his death were inadequate training on the ladder safety device he used and the defective safety sleeve that failed to save him when he fell. Another example, four construction workers were killed when the north east side of a parking garage under construction collapsed. OSHA issued citations to the five construction firms involved in the project for failing to provide workers a workplace free from recognized hazards causing or likely to cause deaths or serious physical harms. With a total of 765 fatal injuries, the transportation and warehousing industry represented 15.82% of the total number of fatal injuries in 2015 (CFOI). The fatality count in the transportation industry rose from 749 in 2011 to 765 in 2015 (CFOI). Bureau of Labor Statistics shared that, Roadway incidents have consistently accounted for the greatest share of

Board of Education, are both extraordinary alluring court cases, in which major issues concerning justice and discrimination have been presented to law enforcers. Individual rights were called into question in addition to the examination of the justice system. Although both the Rosenberg trial and Brown v. Board of Education have proven to be of vitality in regards to social awareness, both cases have very little analogous, nevertheless there still remains the main theme of justice and apprehension, in which these cases raised in relation to modern civilization. Justice, otherwise known as the pillar of society and the annihilator of chaos has always been present in the world, however, in numerous cases the ideology of justice has been tainted as a result of societal influences. The Rosenberg trial serves as one court case in which discrimination can be perceived throughout the court case. This is so because of the fact that during the construction of the Rosenberg trial, many citizens were frightened due to recent embodiment of the Red Scare. Julius Rosenberg was

  • 19. Causes Of Civil Disobedience Although civil disobedience rarely accomplishes the change that it demands directly, it does create change indirectly through raising awareness and support. Civil disobedience works by relying on the reaction of governments/societies after individuals rebel to rally support for the protest. If the government/society violently crushes the rebellion, as in the case of Antigone, then the civil disobediencewins by creating pity and sorrow for the rebellion. However, if the government/society does not react, then the individuals are still successful by being allowed to get away with acts of civil disobedience which spread their cause. Despite the tragedies surrounding the American Civil Rights Movement, change could not have been made without the violent reaction to the movement. Rather than stopping or slowing desegregation as the violent reactions intended, they only created martyrs for which the Civil Rights Movement could rally around. Famously, J. W. Milam and Roy Bryant kidnapped and murdered Emmett Till, a fourteen year old African boy, on account of flirting with a white woman. Then, the guilty party was found innocent despite overwhelming evidence otherwise. Although this incident may have been notable on its own, it became a very powerful motivation for the Civil Rights Movement through the confession/arrogance of the kidnappers, and the work of Emmett Till s mother, Mamie Till. Infamously, Roy Bryant and J. W. Milam sold the story of Emmett Till to reporter William

  • 23. Persuasive Essay On Road Biking Road biking is an awesome way to amplify your fitness should you decide to add it to your training. First and foremost I have always been a mountain biker, with cyclocross being a close second. I much prefer dirt, dust, mud, and rocks in contrast to smooth black tar of the roads. Playing amongst the trees and bushes is a frivolity that I enjoy often. Wheels flicking through the loose terrain, sliding left, sliding right, barely in control of your machine but yet always somehow making it to the bottom of the trailin one piece. Mountain biking is about battling against yourself and what nature may throw at you. A big storm could bring change to a familiar trail. For example, a driving rain throughout the night might create a giant rut down the center of a fireroad. However, a sandy or dusty trail will wash away leaving a huge hole unseen until you are almost upon it. Then and only then you have split second decision to make: should I jump the hole or is an out of control brake slam my only alternative? Mishaps are generally due to rider error when mountain biking. Comparatively, you may navigate a rock garden too slowly or careen into a corner too quickly thus landing in the brush. Or probably slide out on a sand patch or lose speed on a technical climb falling backward (which I have done). As a mountain biker, we have less external influences when navigating the terrain so any mistakes you may experience can be chalked up to rider error. Preconceived Notions On the other

Numerous people die every year due to intoxicated drivers. There are ways of avoiding these life changing risks. Appointing a designated driver before drinking or calling an uber is a smart way to plan ahead. Unfortunately not everyone takes the initiative to prevent these avoidable circumstances. There are a large number of wrecks due to drunk drivers. For example, In 2015, 10,265 people died in alcohol impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one third (29%) of all traffic related deaths in the United States (Impaired Driving). These crashes are not only harmful, but can also be very expensive. People who drink and drive typically do not consider the potential costs that will be incurred if pulled over by police, state highway patrol or sheriff deputies as well as being involved in an accident or fatal car crash. Drunk driving costs the United States $199 billion per year (Snyder). This includes the expense of road clean up, medical services, court cases, insurance and much more. These costs are leading indicators of how extensive and severe drunk driving is making a devastating financial impact on the American economy. Determining and Controlling Efficiency Cost accounting involves a study of various operations used in manufacturing a product or providing a service. The study facilitates measuring the efficiency of an organization as a whole or department wise as well as devising means of increasing efficiency. Cost accounting also uses a number of methods, e.g., budgetary control, standard costing etc. for controlling costs. Each item viz. materials, labour and expenses is budgeted at the commencement of a period and actual expenses incurred are compared with budget. This greatly increases the operating efficiency of an enterprise. Facilitating Preparation of Financial and Other Statements The third objective of cost accounting is to produce statements whenever is required by management. The financial statements are prepared under financial accounting generally once a year or half year and are spaced too far with respect to time to meet the needs of management. In order to operate a business at a high level of efficiency, it is essential for management to have a frequent review of production, sales and operating results. Cost accounting provides daily, weekly or monthly volumes of units produced and accumulated costs with appropriate analysis. Project manager objective is to deliver the software that not only meets the time and cost requirements but also the quality requirements given by the client. To ensure the quality of the software, many testing cycle will be conducted before it is finally delivered to the client for acceptance. Each testing cycle is a costly affair as it involves running all possible test scenarios in all possible environments, followed by defect fixing and re verification of defects. On average, there are 2 3 testing cycle conducted but this depends on number of defects identified during testing. Number of defects will depend on the team expertise and whether they earlier worked on similar projects and technologies. Hence, it becomes critical to predict the number of defects identified during testing and it is a very challenging task as it requires a good predicting model to predict the re work effort. This law stated that, It is therefore ordered that every township in this jurisdiction, after the Lord hath increased them to fifty households shall forthwith appoint one within their town to teach all such children as shall resort to him to write and read, whose wages shall be paid either by the parents or masters of such children, or by the inhabitants in general, by way of supply, as the major part of those that order the prudentials of the town shall appoint; provided those that send their children be not oppressed by paying much more than they can have them taught for in other towns. • 38. Summary Of If Hitler Asked You After reading If Hitler asked you I was astonished to read that the experiment where participants electrocuted an individual was intense. I can t even imagine being asked to inflict that kind of intense pain to another human. I understand that everyone can state that in the beginning and over time their moral compass may change. Meyer realized that many of his participants were able to inflict even the more severe voltages past 15 volts like 435 and 450. I found it interesting the difference between the Yale students and Bridgeport because Yale students were more obedient. Was it because of how they were raised not to question authority like The U.S upper class stated or was because of their moral compasses? Also, I thought it was interesting
  • 39. What Are The Effects Of Wolf Reintroduction In 1995 the gray wolf (Canis lupus) was reintroduced into Yellowstone National Park. The park had been without resident wolves for 70 years prior, when they were killed off in the 1930 s. This meant that in those 70 years there was no research on the effects of wolves on the park s ecosystem. In the decades since the reintroduction, research has been able to proceed and has found some amazing results. Not only did the reintroduction of wolvesimpact animal life, but it also had an impact on plant life. In the past it was thought that an ecosystem was built from the bottom up... with plant life as the basis from which everything grew. Almost all conservation and reintroduction efforts were based on this idea. (Mission: Wolf Education vs Extinction)

The three witchespossess supernatural gifts such as prophesying the future. In the first lines of the scenes, the First Witch seems to be able to control the weather and limits the choices to just, thunder, lightning, and rain. This might be a sign that a storm is brewing. The next character that we are technically introduced to is Macbeth. Though we have only heard the mention of his name, he is the only the human to be named yet.

If needle exchange programs will be banned in United States than it will cause even greater stigma towards needle sharing practices. • 44. The Vietnam War Protests The Vietnam War protests happened in the 1960s in America and was a part of the Cold War. People and specifically, youths, such as college students, protested mostly about the draft and the inhumane conditions and implications of the war. There were many violent street protests that escalated into violent riots and fires. The Tunisian or Jasmine Revolution took place from 2010 2011 in Tunisia. The youth, such as young adults, protested mostly about government corruption such as repression of civil liberties and rights. Both these protests were spurred and carried on mainly by passionate youth activists. Youth chose to protest because their peers, friends, and family members were being drafted as a part of the Selective Service Act, which forced American men to register with a local draft board once they became 18 years old (Brannan, the United States v. O Brien ). The draft made many youths upset because they felt that it was unfair that the people they cared about were forced to fight in a war that they did not believe in or want to fight in, as many felt that the United States soldiers were too harsh towards the Vietnamese who posed no direct threat to the United States. It was felt that the young men were fighting the war waged by old men. In addition, many felt empathetic towards the young men who fought, as youth felt upset that some people who were the same age of them died, and that those men could have been them. This is why many youths turned towards activism in order to protest against the Vietnam War. Protests against the Vietnam War were a very common form of expression on college campuses. One of the most famous protests on college campuses happened on the Kent State University Campus in Kent, Ohio. The drafting of students, specifically for the invasion of Cambodia, caused students to hold a rally on May 1st, 1970 and burn down the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) building. There was another rally 4 days later, which included 2,000 students. The National Guard showed up and opened fire killing 4 students and wounding 9 others. This event became known as the Kent State Massacre (Batchelor, Kent State Massacre ). The students burned down the ROTC building because some people would go there and enlist because they knew they were going to get drafted, so enlisting would at least give them the choice to be higher in rank and gain more privilege. Therefore, the ROTC building symbolized U.S. soldiers going to fight

During my sophomore year, my life has completely changed: I moved from Poland to the United States. It was definitely one of the greatest challenges during high school. New surroundings, lack of friends to confide in and language barrier were some of the biggest problems. It was not easy to adjust at first, but I pushed myself to get better grades and acclimate to this new way of living. I am proud of the fact that I did not qualify to take ESL since my level of English was already high. Unfortunately, my freshman year grades are transferred from Poland, where the school system is different and it is exceptionally difficult to get As. Also, my sophomore year was my first year in the US, and I did not do as good in school and I would want to, because of the factors I have mentioned above. I know that solitude will not be a problem at Montclair State University, because I can see myself joining Montclair State
