Generation Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Generation" is undoubtedly a challenging task. The concept of
generation encompasses a wide array of facets, ranging from societal and cultural influences to
technological advancements. Crafting an essay that delves into the intricacies of how different
generations perceive and shape the world is no easy feat.
To start with, one must navigate through the complexities of defining and categorizing
generations. Sociologists and demographers often differ on the precise boundaries of each
generation, and attempting to capture the essence of an entire generation within the confines of
an essay requires a careful balancing act.
Moreover, the essay must address the unique characteristics and experiences that define each
generation. From the Silent Generation to Generation Z, each cohort has been shaped by distinct
historical events, cultural shifts, and technological revolutions. Weaving together a coherent
narrative that captures the essence of these diverse experiences while providing insightful
analysis demands a thorough understanding of both historical context and contemporary
dynamics.
The challenge extends to exploring the intergenerational dynamics that influence societal trends
and norms. Unraveling the complexities of how older and younger generations interact, clash, or
coalesce in shaping the fabric of society requires a nuanced approach. Tackling issues such as
intergenerational communication, conflicts, and shared values demands a deep exploration of
psychological, sociological, and anthropological perspectives.
In addition to content, the essay's structure and coherence pose another layer of difficulty.
Striking the right balance between providing insightful analysis and maintaining a clear,
engaging narrative is a delicate task. Ensuring that each section seamlessly connects to the
overarching theme while avoiding redundancy and maintaining a cohesive flow requires careful
planning and execution.
Despite the inherent challenges, writing an essay on the topic of "Generation" offers a unique
opportunity to delve into the ever-evolving tapestry of human experience. It requires the author
to synthesize information from various disciplines, conduct thorough research, and present a
thoughtful analysis that goes beyond mere chronological timelines.
In conclusion, tackling the topic of "Generation" in an essay is a formidable task that demands a
blend of research, analytical skills, and creativity. Navigating through the intricacies of defining
and categorizing generations, exploring their unique characteristics and experiences, and
unraveling intergenerational dynamics all contribute to the complexity of the endeavor. Crafting
such an essay requires a commitment to understanding the nuances of human history and society,
making it both a challenging and rewarding intellectual pursuit.

The Long Lasting Effects Of Colonialism On Africa
The first source that I have chosen demonstrates the long lasting effects Africa
endured due to imperialism. The illustration shows the countries that were involved
in colonizing Africa and what they contributed to how the continent is prospering
currently. Also, the cartoon shows how severely the presence of imperialism affected
Africa. For instance, when countries exploited Africa during 1880 1913, the people
who inhabited the land experienced poverty and starvation due to countries claiming
and controlling their land. During the scramble of Africa, countries saw the great
amounts of natural resources they were able to exploit, such as a large quantity of
diamonds, gold, salt, iron, etc. The extraction of the continents resources increased
poverty in Africa which resulted in their economy to plummet. Imperialism is a
major factor to Africa s lack of development and instability due to the injustice that
was exhibited towards the population of Africa. African s were forced into slavery
and cheap labor which as a result destroyed the African community. The citizens are
still presently trying to rebuild their government and salvage the damage that was
done by the British. In the second source that I have selected explains the benefits
that Britain gained through imperializing sections of Africa and the results it has led
to presently. Africa s resources were left mainly untouched by natives and largely
accessible for the country to extract. The country s economy greatly

What do you admire and criticise about Odysseus
behaviour...
What do you admire, and what do you find to criticise, in Odysseus behaviour as a
hero?
What I admire about Odysseus behaviour as a hero is his confidence. Rather than
being self doubting of his abilities he is proud of them. We see this in Book 9 when
he deals with the Cyclops Polyphemus. Firstly, he tells the Cyclops his name is
Nobody . This idea helps him to escape at the end when Polyphemus screams O my
friends, it s Nobody s treachery, not violence that is doing me to death , and the other
Cyclopes believe that nobody is hurting him.
He escapes the cave using a sharpened, burning stick to blind the son of Poseidon,
and then laughs to himself about how the cunning notion of a false name fooled the
Cyclops. He shows a lot of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Skills with a weapon are necessary to have for a hero.
Book 22 sees the great battle between Odysseus and the suitors. He kills all the
suitors despite their pleas. He shows some compassion however when he saves
Phemius and Medon, who were forced to work for the suitors. He could have killed
them just like all the others, but spares their lives at the request of his son. I admire
that he is kind to them after being so ruthless to the others.
Book 23 is when Odysseus and Penelope get together again. Odysseus shows why
he went through his journey in this book. After all the obstacles and deaths of his
friends he has reached his goal. I admire him as a hero in this book because we see he
really cares for Penelope. I think back at all that he went through in his journey and
admire him because he did it all for her and their son.
Some might argue that Odysseus was not just simply confident, but arrogant. We
see an example of his arrogance in Book 9. Once he has escaped from the cave of
Polyphemus he decides to taunt the Cyclops. He reveals his real name and says So
he was not such a weakling after all, the man whose friends you meant to overpower
and eat in your hollow cave! . This taunting nearly costs him his life as Polyphemus
throws a rock at the ship and misses. The Cyclops also curses Odysseus. Had he been
quiet he may not have went through as much suffering.
In Book 10 he needs help from Hermes to save him and his crew.
F Scott Fitzgerald Writing Style
Wealth, women, and writing, are all words that describe F. Scott Fitzgerald s life.
Fitzgerald started writing at a young age and did not become famous right away.
He fell in love with a southern belle, Zelda Fitzgerald, while he was in the army.
Fitzgerald wrote for the rest of his life, he died at the age of forty four. He also has a
particular writing style, such as using vivid imagery and a constant setting. Fitzgerald
made connections from his life into his writing by including the societal standards of
women and the time period.
F. Scott Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896 in St. Paul, Minnesota. His
mother, Mary McQuillan, was from Irish descent. His father, Edward Fitzgerald,
tried to provide for the family. At first, he was a manufacturer but he was not
successful, so he went into the sales business in New York. The Fitzgerald family
then moved to New York for Edward s work, but eventually moved back to St.
Paul. The family then lived off of Mary s inheritance (Bruccoli). Fitzgerald
published his first story at thirteen years old in the school newspaper, it was a
detective story (O Connor). This was the beginning of his writing career.
Fitzgerald started college at Princeton and was a part of the class of 1917. While
attending Princeton, he kept busy by writing lyrics and scripts for the Princeton
Triangle Club musicals. He also wrote for two magazines, the Princeton Tiger and
the Nassau Literary magazine (Bruccoli). Later in his college career, he dropped out
Target Corporation Weaknesses
Some of Target s strengths are its growth. In less than 100 years, Target has grown
to over 1,790 stores and over 300,000 employees. MBA Lectures says that 97% of
American consumers are familiar with Bullseye (SWOT Analysis of Target
Corporation (2010, September 19.)). Knowing the logo and mascot of any
company is a huge deal for the company. You may see a bullseye somewhere else,
such as a dart board in a toy store, and think of Target. In 2009, Target was listed 28
on the Fortune 500, making it the second largest retailer in the United Statesbehind
Walmart. Shopping at Target does not mean you have to actually physically drive to
the store. Target has an online website and a mobile app so people can shop anytime,
anywhere (SWOT Analysis of Target Corporation(2010, September 19), Target

They tried moving into Canada, but failed and had to close the store. Another
weakness, that is particularly interesting is that Target does not play music in any
of their stores. This might not seem like a weakness, but other stores, such as
Starbucks and Sears, do play music. When you walk into a store that is playing
music, depending on the music you may feel relaxed or you may want to dance, but
it lifts the mood for people who are shopping (SWOT Analysis of Target Corporation

Art During The Renaissance
The Renaissance in Italy included some of the greatest artists we have ever seen from
Leonard Da Vinci, to Michelangelo, and Raphael. The Renaissance took place from
the late 13th to 16th centuries. Firstly, during the renaissance liberal arts was brought
back to light, which were on the brink of being extinct1. Secondly, what is also
interesting about art during this time was that most of the art had Christian in its
roots, for example, Botticelli s The Allegory of Spring is said to have had a Christian
interpretation1. Every Italian artist, willingly took the title of architect, sculptor, and
painter 2. At the beginning of the fifteenth century, the Italian painters had asked the
Flemish painters for their secret techniques because the Italians felt like the language
of paintingwas one that was always meant for them2. The sculptors claimed their
inspiration from ancient works. Lastly the Renaissanceintroduced idea of
individualism, which helped the Italians get away from everything that was going
on during that time. Art during the Renaissance included painting, sculpting and
architecture, all of which were an important part in expressing the idea of
individualism and making art what is today. Fresco was one of the most popular
works artists did during this time because it was fairly cheap and a lot of buildings,
like churches had no windows and were just plain, concrete walls. Frescos helped
soften up the walls by telling stories through the frescos.

Scandals in Baseball and Its Effect on America
Baseball has always been considered as American as apple pie. If that is true than
cheating should be just as American. Ever since the creation of America s favorite
pastime, baseball, cheating has been a major part of the game. Each era of baseball
has showed more complex ways of cheating the game. Although, cheating in baseball
has been around since the introduction of the game, only few scandals have really
made history. Some of the most famous scandals include the Black Sox Scandal, the
gambling of Pete Rose, and the use of steroids by players to enhance their
performance. Despite these corruptions the game has still managed to stay America s
most loved sport. Although cheating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soon word got out to another gambler, Bill Burns. He approached Cicotte and
offered him $100,000. Gandil and Cicotte met with Burns and agreed that they
would do the fix as long as they got paid before the series began. Burns took off for
New York with his boxer friend Billy Maharg to meet with Arnold Rothstein, a big
time gambler, to come up with the money for the fix. At first, Rothstein did not go
for it but then Sullivan went to Rothstein with his plans for the fix totally laid out.
Rothstein decided to get in on the fix. He sent one of his men to Chicago with $
40,000 to give to Sullivan to give to the players and the rest would be distributed if
the series went as planned. However, when Sullivan got the money he quickly
gambled $30,000 and then gave $10,000 to Gandil. The players not happy with the
amount that they got they decided that they would throw the first two games and
then ask for more money. Gandil told Sullivan he needed more money before the
fourth game or the fix was off, Sullivan complied and after the game Gandil gave
$5,000 to each of the players except Weaver who apparently was not participating in
the plan. The series continued as planned and the White Sox lost the series to the
Cincinnati Reds, five games to three (findingdulcinea.com). Although, rumors about a
possible fix had already been made before the 1919 World Seriesonly one person paid
attention to them, this man was
Approaches to the Figure of Divine Wisdom in the Book of...
Modem Feminist approaches [c. 1000 words]
Discussing the contemporary sociological perspective of modern feminism to divine
wisdom should involve a brief overview of the theology s focus. McGrath suggests
that Feminism is a global movement, arguing for gender equality and a right
understanding of the relationship between women and men to be affirmed by
contemporary theology and practice (McGrath, 2011: p.88). Thus, when discussing
wisdom in the scriptures the feminists are observing how gender is represented and
the effect of this representation upon helping or hindering a right relationship
between the genders.
To recap, Proverbs illustrate Wisdom as both teacher and as a personified woman,
whereas in John, Wisdom is incarnate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather it compels us to continue the struggle with conventional masculine language
for God and the exclusivist authoritarian functions and implications of such language.
Feminist theology must rearticulate the symbols, images, and names of Divine
Sophia in the context of our own experiences and theological struggles in such a way
that the ossified and absolutized masculine language about God and Christ is
radically questioned and undermined and the Western cultural sex/gender system is
radically deconstructed (Fiorenza, 1995: p.162).
Therefore Fiorenza believes that the language signifying feminine impetus of God is
a way of realising gender equality and thus a better understanding of the relationship
between genders which has been oppressed too long by the over emphasis on
masculinity. Fiorenza further explains that without the loving attention and divine
care as embodied and made present in the figure of Divine Sophia the true meaning of
the Father is diminished (Fiorenza, 1995: p.154) Another feminist theologian,
Johnson, also suggests that reclaiming the feminine Wisdom could challenge the
patriarchy embedded in classical Christology. Johnson realized as discussed above,
that the early Christian s use of personified Wisdom was a developmental step in the
understanding
Plea Bargaining Argumentative Analysis
No one likes to be incarcerated in a six by eight foot room for twenty three hours of
the day. Rather than having the defendant plead guilty, many cases around the U.S.
have plea bargaining as a form of negotiation between the defendant, prosecutor, and
defense counsel on behalf of the interests involved (Schmalleger 2016). It has
quickened the judicial system by having cases no longer lead to trial and helps the
prosecutor and the defendant agree to a guilty plea if the prosecutor is unsure of a
win. Plea bargaining helps the courts run smoothly when they have a large amount of
work. Considering the type of defendant, plea bargaining often times comes with
conditions where the defendant helps investigators or other law enforcement agencies
The Great Barrier Reef
Numerous diseases affect the world s coral reefs, however the most prevalent at the
current time is coral bleaching. With rising sea surface temperatures, the threat of
disease has increased as well; organizations such as the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration are already monitoring conditions affecting these issues
throughout the world s oceans. Understanding how many reefs are currently
affected as well as which areas are experiencing the highest severity of damage is
highly important. The aim was to determine whether or not there was clustering of
severe bleaching within a specified area. For this project, data was collected from
numerous sources in order to cohesively study the severity of bleaching along the

mean severity across the locations was 1.2535, with a standard deviation of

of 30.185078, translating to a p value far below 0.000001, meaning there is less
than a 1% chance this clustering pattern was a random occurrence. The Getis Ord

reefs. When comparing the map depicting the ranked bleaching severity to the map
depicting Moran s I cluster data, the relationship is not overwhelming apparent.
Reefs that are ranked as having a severity of 2 or higher are spread throughout the
entire reef system, as where there are clearly defined clustering regions based off of
the Moran s I data. Temperature data provided by ReefBase shows high amount of
change throughout the four year period, this is consistent with thermal data provided

the average recorded temperature was roughly 26В° Celsius (ReefTemp 2013) which
is two degrees higher than the upper threshold of average winter temperature data

Book Review Poetry is a form of art that serves the purpose to express the writer s
opinions, and also combat oppressive forces without the use of any physical force.
These writers can relate to the expression by the playwright and novelist Edward
Bulwer Lytton in the play Cardinal Richelieu, The pen is mightier than the sword
(BBC); this expression serves as a metaphor in its own right as the nature describes
the effect of words to provide a stronger impact on the intended audience than any
kind of violence would. This term ties in perfectly with the ideas of Chicanx; the
Chicanx perspective of life is oppression and the dangers of racial tensions and
manners to dethrone those who impose that on others. They have long fought
against the unfair forces that have come against them, and have been involved in
many violent forms of protest. With Cesar Chavez becoming more invested in the
peaceful form of protesting to gain trust and momentum in the campaigns they were
in, more and more writers began to express their feelings and place their own two
cents into the mixture of ideas. Often long stories are made in effort to express a
personal form of how life is changing and growing fears are turning into, however
some writers chose to use poetry as their version of a weapon against the oppressing
forces. A poem is much shorter and does not provide the sufficient build up that can
be placed into a Chicano novel, but the effect of
Enlightenment And The Enlightenment Movement
What cultured such an immense need for reform in France between 1690 C.E. and
1789 C.E.? Geo. H. Lewis argues in his DeFOREST ORATION. CAUSES OF THE
FRENCH REVOLUTION that the extremely high and constricting taxes
implemented in France, the conflicts between the nobility and the working class, and
the uncooperativeness of the King created a sense of urgency for the general
population of France(Lewis, pg. 51 52). Louis Gottschalk attributes this reform to the
revolutionary ideas which were formulated by Rousseau during the Enlightenment
movement. The Enlightenment movement in France was a product of the Scientific
Revolution, a period in which there were new developments in politics, religion, and

51 52). The taxes strangled the working class, the privileges of the nobles exempted
them from conscription into the military, and King Louis XVI s inability to perform
led to an intense feeling of hatred for the King and the nobility. Lewis reveals the
weight of taxation as a strangling force which did not allow for lower class people to
support themselves properly (Lewis, pg. 52). Thus, this created an immense amount
of discontent which aided in starting the French Revolution. Upper classmen were
exempt from such taxes and could avoid mandatory military service which forced
more lower classmen into the military to replace the positions which would have
been filled in by the upper classmen (Lewis, pg. 52). With the impending taxes and
drafting of lower classmen into the military, this further improved conditions for a
revolution. To add to all this dissatisfaction, King Louis XVI called an army to
quell the National Assembly which created a sense of fear as people believed he
would disband the assembly, halting all the progress made in promoting the
wellbeing of the Frenchmen (McKay, pg. 663). These events seem to have been a
plausible cause for the French Revolution, however, these events did not provide the

The Physics of Roller Coasters Essay
The Physics of Roller Coasters
The roller coaster has its beginnings in Russia where during the 1600 s. People
crafted sleds out of wood and built hills made of ice blocks. The hills had sand at the
bottom to help slow down the sleds so they would not crash when they reached the
bottom of the hill.1 Over time, the roller coaster has become more complex. They
now are taller, faster and are designed out of different materials like wood and steel.
Although roller coasters are fun and exciting, the questions, what allows them to
twist and turn, go up and down hills at a fairly good speed? Why do they not fall
off of the track when it goes through a loop? The answer to these questions and
others about roller coasters lies in the application ... Show more content on

Then as the coaster begins its decent down the first hill, the energy is converted back
into kinetic energy as the train is pulled toward the Earth by gravity. Gravity is the
traditional source of power for roller coasters that accelerates the train as it goes on
its hilly, twisty journey.3 Gravity is a unit of acceleration, that is always present,
that causes free falling objects on Earth to change their speed at a rate of
approximately 10 m/s (32ft/s) every second.1 So, as the train goes down the hills of
the track it has a positive acceleration giving it the necessary potential energy to
climb the next hill, make a turn, or travel through a loop.
Also, as the train goes down the hills and loops, it experiences a free fall effect.
This occurs when an object falls and is not inhibited by other objects2 (314 315).
As the train goes down the hill, the coasters mass causes it to accelerate faster than
the people in the car. During the free fall stages of the ride the train does not exert
any pressure on the riders or the track causing the riders to feel momentarily
weightlessness. This is why the train has wheels on the bottom of the track and the
passengers of the train have some sort of restraining device to hold them into their
seats.3 So, as the train goes down the hill it is actually falling, causing the velocity of
the train to increase due to the

Governor Jeb Bush initiated the nation s boldest voucher experiment in June of 1999

giving parents the choice to use state education funds at private schools could end up

C Language
The C programming language (often, just C ) is a general purpose, procedural,
imperative computer programming language developed in the early 1970s by Dennis
Ritchie for use on the Unix operating system. It has since spread to many other
operating systems, and is now one of the most widely used programming languages. C
also has had a great influence on many other popular languages,[1] especially [[C++]]
which was originally designed as an enhancement to C. It is the most commonly used
programming languagefor writing system software,[2][3] though it is also widely
used for writing applications. Though not originally designed as a language for

The relatively low level nature of the language affords the programmer close
control over what the program is doing, while allowing solutions that can be
specially tailored and aggressively optimized for a particular platform. This allows
the code to run efficiently on very limited hardware, such as mass produced
consumer embedded systems, which today are as capable as the general purpose
machines originally used to implement C.

African Minkisi and American Culture Essay
African Minkisi and American Culture
I. Introduction
African Minkisi have been used for hundreds of years in West Central Africa, This
area where they are traditionally from was once known as the kingdom of Kongo,
when Europeans started settling and trading with the BaKongo people. Kongo was a
well known state throughout much of the world by the sixteenth and seventeenth
centuries. The BaKongo, however, had probably long used minkisi before
ethnographers and anthropologists ever recorded them. Minkisi are complex items
that are used to heal and to harm people, and there is no equivalent term for nkisi in
any European language. A seventeenth century Dutch geographer first wrote of the
nkisi, and said that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To understand the people, you also must first understand their worldviews, their
history, religion, economic conditions, how advanced their scientific knowledge was,
etc. By learning about this one item used in Kongo culture, I have learned an
enormous amount about the Kongo culture and the BaKongo, and have come to a
new level of awareness about material culture.
The goals of this paper have changed throughout the course of my research. At first,
I didn t even know what an nkisi was, let alone did I know where I wanted to go
with this paper. After doing my research though, I have decided against a paper
completely focused on original ideas. Instead, my goal of this paper is to use the
things that I learned in our anthropology class, and apply them to minkisi. By
applying the things I have learned in the readings from our class, I have learned a
lot more about minkisi than I could ever gain by just reading a few books. I will
especially focus on the works of Deetz, Vlach, and the authors about folk objects. I
will also focus on what we talked about in class about usable truth when referring to
objects associated with slave resistance.
The first conclusion I have come to during the course of my research, is that I don t
know how anybody could reduce African religion to being anything less than
complicated. At first the minkisi seem savage . Until quite recently, our (the Western

The American Nurse s Association Introduction Although it may seem that the
United States Healthcare is more improved than that of third world countries and
other places around the globe, hospital errors are still the third leading cause of
death in America as of the last couple years (Hospital, 2013). Whether it is due to a
miscalculation of drug dosages, an avoidable infection, or even caused by an
accidental mistake because the nurse was overwhelmed with numerous assigned
patients, it is still occurring and there must be a change. On occasion nurses on a
typical medical surgical floor may be required to care for 4 or 5 patients a ... Show

Measures have already been implemented in intensive care units (ICU) in order to
ensure patient safety and there is now a maximum ratio of one nurse to two patients
(Nurse, n.d.). Many patients from intensive care floors are originally from medical
surgical units due to serious complications. This means that a typical nurse on a med
surg unit could be dealing with one or two patients that may need very close
monitoring, and due to the nurse s workload these patients may not receive the care
they need. Should the ratio of nurses to patients on medical surgical units be
decreased in order to promote greater patient safety?
Literature Review
According to Dr. Jack Needleman the more hours a nurse spends caring for each
patient, the less complications such as infections and deaths occur (Needleman,
2002). The authors and scientists involved in the medical journal Nurse Staffing
Levels and the Quality of Care in Hospitals are all from the medical field, including
Jack Needleman, Ph.D. and his colleagues. Dr. Needleman is a professor in the
Department of Health Policy and Management at UCLA with expertise in quality of
care and health policy. The data he recorded with his colleagues was focused on 14 of
the most common hospital complications that can be treated early on to yield better
outcomes such as pneumonia, shock or cardiac arrest, pressure ulcers, sepsis,
gastrointestinal bleeds, deep vein thrombosis, and urinary tract infections
(Needleman, 2002). The
The First Three Years Of Life
Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first
three years of life. This is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the
functioning of the brain.
Autism is four more times prevalent in boys than girls. Autism shows no racial,
ethnic or social boundaries. Family income, lifestyle and educational levels do not
affect the chance of autism s occurrence. Autism and its associated behaviors have
been estimated to occur in as many and one in 500 individuals. In this essay, I will
discuss the signs and symptoms of autism, types of autism, the diagnosis of autism
and studies done on autism.
Autism affects the normal development of the brain in the areas of social interaction
and communication ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although a specific cause is not known, current research links autism to biological
or neurological differences in the brain. In many families, there appears to be a
pattern of autism or related disabilities. This suggests that there is a genetic basis to
the disorder. Buty there has been no gene linked directly to autism. The genetic basis
is believed by researchers to be highly complex, probably involving several genes in
combination.
Autism is not a mental illness. Children with autism are not unruly kids who choose
not to behave. Autism is not cause by bad parenting. These are just some of the
several theories that are false about the cause of autism. They have been proven false.
Furthermore, no known psychological factors in the development of the child have
been shown to cause autism.
An accurate diagnosis must be based on observation of the individual s
communication, developmental levels and behavior. Because many of the behaviors
associated with autism are shared by other disorders, various medical tests may be
ordered to rule out or identify other possible causes of the symptoms being exhibited.
Because the characteristics of autism vary so much, a child should be evaluated by a
multidisciplinary team which may include a neurologist, developmental pediatrician,
pshycologist, learning consultant, speech/language therapist or another
knowledgeable professional about autism. In some
Midsummer Night s Dream Act 2
Act 2 In act 2 Oberon asks Titania to give the little Indian boy. But Titania says that
she will instead hold the boy near to her. Oberon responds by, saying that they will
be at odds until she gives him the boy.Now the dispute between Oberon and Titania
in the fairy realm is used to demonstrate that the subject of loveis currently being out
of balance.
Act 3 The fairy s magic is one of the central elements of the dreamlike atmosphere of
A Midsummer Night s Dream, and it is fundamental to the plot s progression. It
throws love increasingly out of balance and brings the farce into its most frenzied
state. With the youths love tangle already getting affected by the potion, Shakespeare
creates additional havoc by generating a romance across groups, as Titania falling in

dramatically unsuited to the clumsy, monstrous craftsman.

By focusing so much attention on this play within the play, Shakespeare has
plentiful time to reflect on art and culture as a whole.During the fifth act, he has the

great theater? Can anyone be an actor? What kind of person is an excellent audience

alter, but, for the most part, the performance of Pyramus and Thisbe operates as a
complete satire of bad theater and reminds us that being a stage actor is a craft that

Essay Women in Combat
The United States military views its diverse force as one of its greatest assets.
Senior Air Force leaders recognize the monumental contributions both men and
women make in support of their country daily. Americans serving in any branch of
service know it is not a nine to five job but rather a calling. It is about being a part
of the Profession of Arms. Airmen are warriors. The third verse of the Air Force
Airman s Creed states, I am an American Airman, Guardian of Freedom and Justice,
My Nation s Sword and Shield, its Sentry and Avenger. I defend my country with

According to Jelinek (2011), Pentagon spokeswoman Lainz said, Of the roughly2.2
million troops who ve served in Iraq and Afghanistan, more than 255,000 have
been women. According to Pentagon figures, 110 women had been killed in the
war in Iraq compared with about 4,300 men. In the Afghan campaign, 24 women
have been killed compared with more than 1,400 men (p.1). The armed forces
prides itself on developing tomorrow s leaders but they are failing in developing a
diverse group of leaders. Minorities and women still lag behind white men in terms
of number of military leadership positions (Jelinek, 2011, p.1). The reality is that
women are already in combat zones and dying for their country. The Department of
Defense policies are sorely outdated and need to be updated to meet the needs of all
today s strategic service members. Now that the need for the change has been defined,
we will now discuss the arguments for and against women in combat. The American
public has become accustomed to women in the military yet the same arguments exist
about why women should or should not be in a combat role. The first major argument
against women in combat is that women are inferior and cannot perform in a combat
environment. There are no facts or studies that can substantiate that argument. Two
Air Force aircrew members, C. Hansen and D. Massingill, shared that they have had

The Stamp Act and the Tea Act
Screaming occurred as a group of men argued while deciding to form into a group to
go against things they knew they had the rights too and to shape their powers. They
were frustrated because they knew that American s had more rights and that more
could have been done. Starting from the Loyal Nine s and wealthy families, the Sons
of Libertyachieved many things , their ideas were best expressed through the rights
they determined Americans had, what roles they each played in saving those rights
and how important they thought those rights were. They got together and formed in
1765, in Boston right after the stamp act and that s originally where they got their
name. They had another name that they were also known as called the loyalist. They
had quite an amount of members and they all were helpful in some way. The men s
who leaded this party were John Adams, Samuel Adams, and Paul Revere. Altogether
those that formed the Sons of Liberty were helpful because they helped get the
group out there. The Sons of liberty had publishers, writers and they had a very good
start to be out there and become known. They did keep their little organization alittle
secret, just because they didn t want anyone to find out, along the secret meetings
they had, they had secret things they said to each other. Conducted into codes so no
one can know what they were saying, it was a smart way of sharing things to not
actually reveal their stuff and ruin their plans.

Do you agree? Why or why not?
The mail rule was relevant to the audits because auditor relied upon management s
financial information to report their opinions on a company. It s crucial that auditors
should have attested every possible or doubtful piece of financial information that
could be misrepresented by managements as well.
3.Define negligence as that term has been used in legal cases involving independent
auditors. What is the key distinction between negligence and fraud? Between
recklessness and fraud? For all three types of professional misconduct, provide an
example of such behavior in an audit context.
Negligence is defined as failure to exercise that degree of care a person of ordinary
prudence (a reasonable person) would exercise under the same circumstances. The
key distinction between negligence and fraud is intention. Recklessness is defined as
unconscious intent to deceive. Fraud is a conscious intent to deceive.
Negligence can be found in Tommy O Connell case, which Tommy was too caught

Carl to make sure he did the right job. Recklessness case can be found in this case
where the auditor was aware of the mail rule policy. Rather than challenge this

Why Is Matryoshka The Main Souvenir Of The Soviet
Union
When foreigners asked about the first association with Russia, they usually think of
the hat with earflaps, bears with balalaika wandering through the city street, and
Russian nesting doll or Matryoshka. Positive and original souvenir is a true
reflection of the Russian spirit and willingly sold out not only tourists, but also
lovers of bright figures. Matryoshka is reduced from the name Matryona which
means a great lady, the mother of the family. It is hollow inside, wooden, brightly
ornamented doll in the form of semi oval shape, with smaller size dolls inserted
inside the big one. Perhaps this is why Matryoshka was the main souvenir of the
Soviet Union. It was called a miracle of light, because it is a work of human hands.

Fourth Ward School Analysis
Within historic Virginia City resides the Fourth Ward School, a building
constructed in 1874. When it was built, Virginia City was booming with a
population of approximately twenty two thousand people. Virginia City at the time
wanted to show off some of its pride as a city with a new four story school. As the
school today is so very old and has a history, people running the museum have to
balance keeping the place funded and staying historically true. Today, the museum
has lost much of its historical authenticity and has taken on more of a museum s role,
rather than a historical building role. However, that does not diminish the education
potential the Fourth Ward School still has.

This comes from the fact that the Fourth Ward School has undergone massive
reconstruction since its desertion in 1936. That does not take away from the fact
that the school looks to be authentic, like it was just preserved. This adds to its
efficiency to educate as few museums can also claim to be a historical building and
show history visually. Even if the school is entirely re created, with the vast sum of
knowledge on the school, we can recreate it masterfully so that everyone can still
learn and enjoy being in a historical building that is the last of its kind. The Fourth
Ward School blends the needs of historic preservation well with the needs of a
modern museum. It is likely that as time goes on, the needs of the museum will
outweigh the needs of historical

Leadership Of Joan Of Arc
There have been many astonishing military leaders. From Alexander the Great, to
Julius Caesar, to Constantine the Great, and to Saladin. However, how many
female military leaders do you know? Joan of Arc is one of the most successful
female leaders out there. Before she led an army, Joan was just an ordinary peasant
living in medieval France. She believed that God had selected her to lead a victory
over England. She convinced prince Charles of Valois to allow her to lead a
French army to the confined city of OrlГ©an, where it achieved a momentous
victory over the English and their French allies, the Burgundians. After the prince
was crowned King Charles VII, Joan was seized by Anglo Burgundian forces. She
was then tried for witchcraft along with heresy, and was found guilty. Since she was
found guilty, she was burned at the stake in 1431, at the age of 19. In 1920 she was
canonized, but had long been considered one of the greatest saints, and an permanent
symbol of French unity. Joan of Arcwas from the village of DomrГ©my, in
northeastern France. She was the daughter of a tenant farmer, named Jacques d Arc.
In fact, Joan of Arc is the translated English name. Her real name is Jeanne d Arc.
Joan was not taught to read or write, but instead taught to love her Catholic Church
and its teachings. During this time, France was at war with England. (which is later
known as the Hundred Years War) When she was 13, Joan began to hear voices. She
decided that these voices were sent
Motivation Of Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus had many categorical dreams and lots of hopes of finding his
way westward to the Indies. Christopher Columbus authentically had a ton of
potential goals, but how was he going to fortify his voyage financially? Columbus
needed money, sturdy ships, staunch men, and supplies. Christopher Columbus
absolutely could not afford any of those things himself, so he desperately probed for a

automatically thought they would mostly be marginally open and accepting to
funding his voyage in a subtle way. Christopher Columbus presented his
orchestrations and intentions to the monarchs of Portugal. According to the Religious
Studies Center, Christopher s major motive to sail to the Indies was to spread
Christianity. After all, Columbus essentially failed to authentically convince Portugal
to fortify his westward adventure, just as he failed to impress France and England
additionally. Why did they all astringently doubt and decline Christopher Columbus?
In particular, I believe King John II did not fortify Christopher because he mainly did
not trust to take the jeopardy of losing money and men. Conspicuously, Portugal did
not confidently believe in Christopher Columbus becoming prosperous by going on
this long, nugatory journey, which was contrary to some skeptical notion of others.

The Effects Of Genetic Mutations On Dna Repair Systems
And...
Several decades of cancer research have identified thousands of mutation causing
carcinogens, genetic mutations in DNA repair systems and mutations that cause
dysregulation in critical signal pathways involved in cell cycle progression, cell
growth and programmed cell death. Human cancers cannot be classified as a single
disease because they are each unique on the molecular level. Often the same
documented cancertype can inflict two patients with similar symptoms, but the
required treatment for each patient will be different because the molecular
mechanisms causing the symptoms must be treated differently. This is the primary
reason why there is no cure for cancer because we may have one word to describe all
cancers; it is a classification of many diseases. (The question is irrational and
misinformed. If cancer were one disease with an underlying fundamental mutation or
pathogen that could be isolated, then we would have found the cure by now.) Each
type of cancer is inherently unique containing a minimum of 5 to 6 mutations that
comprise the genotype, which could result in similar phenotypes. However, they have
similar properties for which they are classified, called hallmarks of cancer . The
hallmarks of cancer include persistent signaling for cell proliferation, circumventing
growth/tumor suppressors, evading cell death, promoting endless replication,
activating angiogenesis, and triggering metastasis and invasive properties (Hanahan
and Weinberg 2011). The constant
Magical Realism In Wolf Whistle
In Lewis Nordan s novel Wolf Whistle, he recounts the true story of Emmett till in a
fictional tale. Till was a fourteen year old African American boy who was brutally
murdered after whistling at a white woman. He was nearly beaten to death, had his
eye gouged out, and was shot in the head, wrapped in barbed wire, then thrown in
the river and held down by a cotton gin fan by two white men. These men were later
acquitted of their crimes by a jury of their peers. This homicide was a major turning
point in the civil rights movements that were sweeping across the nation in the
1950s. He was able to recount the story by referencing real life events and using
symbolism and magical realism. Magical realism is a literary genre that combines
realistic narrative with supernatural elements of dreams or fantasy.
Some great examples of magical realism are: Mrs. Gregg s bizarreness, Alice
Conroy Flashback, and Bobo demon eye. Mrs. Gregg had such an extreme stutter
that she could not be understood unless she spoke to the tune of Here Comes Santa
Claus. In this example, her stutter is a realistic narrative, and Santa Claus had
broken her chains and set her free, (page. 17). Santa Claus had not literally allowed
her to speak, but for some odd reason, thinking and speaking to that specific tune
allowed her to be understood.
Immediately following this, Alice Conroy, the fourth grade teacher, has a vision. In
her vision, she saw: ancient Bethlehem; desegregation of schools; a bombed

experience with students in similar situations, and most will be happy to advocate

program unsuitable or unbearable. If this occurs, consult with relevant faculty,
graduate students and academic advisors about the possible ramifications of
changing fields, programs, or institutions. Will your progress be delayed, and if so,
by how much and in what way? Through serious consideration, you can decide
whether the extra burdens associated with a major shift are worth enduring. Do not,

Deliberate goalsetting and planning can be helpful to ensure a career which is both

Additional information gathered from my personal experiences will be outlined here.
In addition to assessing my current state through skills assessments, such as ALIS,
strength based assessments have been shown to be more useful for career
development. One example is StrengthsQuest (Gallup, 2016) which is a program that
aims to help students to discover and take advantage of their personal strengths.
StrengthsQuest is being used across campuses and organizations to develop strength
maps for project teams and working groups. Strength maps help to identify strengths
and weaknesses within a group plan and accordingly, plan for success.
When researching companies and average salaries, I often turn towards Glassdoor (
Glassdoor, 2016) as a source for company reviews, salaries and company interview
practises. The data curated on Glassdoor is maintained by current or former company
employees which further reinforces the creditability. This information is particularly
useful because Glassdoor users have posted questions that companies use during the

Sylvia Plath s poems evoke the worst of subjective fallacies. Probably some of our
charged reactions are symptomatic of the times and the culture; but more of them
seem to stem from the always too easy identification between troubled poet and what
might be the tone of imagery and rhythm of the poem considered. Because Plath
worked so intensively in archetypal imagery (water, air, fire as bases for image
patterns, for example), many of her poems could be read as either dark wasteland
kinds of expressions, or as the reverse, as death by water, salvation poems destruction
implied, but also survived, phoenix like.

many images of purity and chastity in these Ariel poems), who finds her freedom in

the image of hands, or the compulsive duty oriented links with the image of

Once free of these deadnesses, the rider/persona can then take off to the ecstasy that
awaits her. That the progression has been a fairly tortuous one is suggested,
effectively, by the back and forth emphasis on stasis and then speed; but that the
poem ends with the sheer joy of movement can be read only as affirmation.
Metamorphosis, transcendence blots out even those all important cries from the

Service Gaps In Little Haiti
Service Gaps. One of the gaps in services and resources in Little Haiti identified is
in education. All of the public schools in Little Haiti have a grade of either C or D (
Miami Dade County Public Schools, n.d.). These schools with below average
achievement scores do not benefit the children attending who are coming from a
community that has a below average high schooldiploma rate. As the workforce
continues to become more competitive, college educationis going to begin to replace
high schooldiplomas as a prerequisite for the majority of jobs. If the public education
system does not begin to provide education that not only aids these youth in obtaining
high school diplomas but additionally supports their advancement through college,
than this community will not be able to move ahead with society. There is a high
concentration of Haitian Americans holding low skill, low wage jobs. Understanding
that Haiti is one of the poorest countries and that immigrants came to the United
States with no formal education, necessary steps need to be taken to ensure that each
generation has an opportunity to advance obtain this education and advance their
community a bit more (Sohmer, Jackson, Katz, Warren, 2005). There are a couple
ways this writer would begin to address this gap. First, the schools need to initiate or
strength their parent association programs. Parents should receive ongoing education
on student progress, areas needing improvement, and ways to best support
Critical Incidents During The Game Simulation
The following reflective report will examine two critical incidents that happened
during the game simulation. The Oxford dictionary (2017) defines reflection as a
severe contemplation or deliberation. Reflection is being used, as it will help me look
within myself and understand what I did during the incidents and how it affected the
group dynamics. To be able to accomplish this we need to examine the critical
incidents through different reflective models. A critical incident is an event, which
has implications for myself, and it is often an incident that makes me stop and
contemplate (Learning, 2017).
Key reflective theories emphasize how reflection can be inspected, David Kolb s
learning cycle is a prime example. This theory looks at different
Similarities Between Egypt And Incan Civilization
Incan and Egyptian Society
Thousands of years separate the Incan and ancient Egyptian civilizations, but
interestingly enough they are very similar. Both of these civilizations have a similar
social structure, to include how and why a ruler came to power. These civilizations
also had the same structure for children to become adults, although some differences
will be discussed. This paper will serve to explore not only the similarities between
these two civilizations, but their differences will be shared as well. The Incan
civilization is arranged in a way that resembles a pyramid. At the top of the pyramid
sits the Sapa Inca, the ruler of the Incan empire. The first Inca Sapa, Pachacuti, built
the city of Cuzco and also started the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While both of these civilizations had a spoken language, only one had a written
language. Within the Incan empire there were one hundred spoken languages with
the official language being Quechua3. None of the Incan history is written down
though because they did not have a written language, unlike the Egyptians.4 In
order to keep track of necessary taxes, the Incans used a Quipa. The Quipa was a
rope with strings that had different colors and thicknesses to them. These strings
then had knots tied into them at different locations and that coupled with the color
and thickness of the string meant something.5 Marriage in the Incan culture was
different from that of the Egyptians. Egyptians were often married off around the
age of 16 while the Incans waited until the approximate age of 30. The Incans
waited longer because of the cultural steps that were taken to become an adult.
Each sex had their own paths that were taken as they grew up; four in all for each
sex. The final path for each sex was at the age of 30, when a man became a warrior
and a woman had become marrying age. This was much the same for the Egyptians
just at a faster pace, probably due to the high mortality rate of children. Young girls
would help their mothers with household chores or out in the fields and young boys
were expected to follow in their fathers

Golden Gate Bridge Monuments
Have you ever been to Mt. Rushmore? Or the Gateway Arch? What about the
Golden Gate Bridge? There s one thing these all have in common: they re all
monuments that had a lot of planning go into them. Monuments are built in order for
people to remember and honor the past. Whether it be people or events, there are
many factors a group must consider when creating a monument. Monuments are a
physical form of a history book; they help re create and remember past events and
people. When memorializing an event of person, a group of people should consider
cost, design, and text factors when creating a monument.
The cost to build a monument is a huge factor in creating a memorial. The group
would have to create a monument that fits their budget, or ... Show more content on

Words can be tricky when they are being placed on a monument. One has to make
sure the quotes are correct. One has to make sure the quotes are perceived how
they should be. One has to make sure names and other words are correctly spelled.
Is the monument even going to have any words on it? All of these contribute to
what one must consider when adding words to a monument. Any sort of word
would bring back memories of the event. As stated by Lin, words can be used to
capture a specific moment in time or a single event or a generalized image to
resurrect memories of those lost in a tragic event. This is the goal of any monument
at it s purest; to remember an event as it happened. Words can also depict important
saying of the past, as it does the Gettysburg Address on the Lincoln Memorial
(Savage). This is cause for importance because it prevents those words from being
lost or twisted in the pages of history books. Words are of vast importance when
building a monument, as they protect the quotes and people of the past from being
nothing.
Cost, design, and words are only a few factors that should be considered when
building a monument. As proved by prior facts, these by far are the most important as
they dictate what people see and read. Without monuments, the public would have
difficulties remembering and honoring past events and people. Not only that, but it
ensures people remember and

In this project, LCD is used in order to display the status of train arrival or departure.
In that way, it will indicate the motorists that gate is going to be closed.
The program logic is written in embedded c program by using Kiel micro vision
environment. The program written is then converted in the hex code after simulation
and burned onto the microcontroller using FLASH micro vision.
This project can also be developed further to have a buzzer sound in order to alert
the public while the gate is closing. A control room can also be provided at the
railway crossings for constant monitoring of the equipment to reduce the chances of
errors and to make this user friendly.

Examples Of Absurdity In Waiting For Godot
Oxford dictionary defines absurdity as the state or quality of being ridiculous or
widely unreasonable and this can be strongly felt in Samuel Beckett s play Waiting
for Godot . Actually, this play is well known as the Theater of Absurd due to its
totally different genre of drama. The difference in genre is mainly due to the plot, the
characters, the incoherence and repetitiveness in the conversations and actions which
bring the audience to view this play as a complete change from the traditional type of
drama.
The choice of characters in Waiting for Godot appear to come from a mad house. The
main ones, Vladimir and Estragon seem to be struggling in their life where they have
little if no memory of how their days passed by, What did we ... Show more content

In my opinion, being spiritually dead is like being a living zombie. Talking about
spirituality does not only refers to God but to one s belief. One cannot call it life if
he is not free of his actions and thinking. The modern man is running against time,
trying to make money to buy happiness. He does not have time to question his
existence as the definition of one s existence is somehow formed by the society and
its surrounding. A typical example will be where people uses religion as excuses for
their actions trying to make as if their religion defines themselves. Samuel Beckett
play s Waiting for Godot can be referred as pure absurdity but even nowadays
people as still waiting for Godot. They are either waiting for God to come on earth
as in the Judaism religion where they are still waiting for the messiah to come and
take them to the promise land (Isaiah 2: 4) or waiting for Death to come an deliver
them from their struggles. Who is Godot? We have no idea of the existence of this
thing or person. Same apply to people s faith. As what is faith? Ii is to have trust in
something or someone that one s has never seen. But this is what keep people alive,
to have faith in the unknown. Man wants freedom and happiness but one cannot find
it by doing nothing. As Andy hunt (2008) perfectly said Only the dead fish go with the
Jimmy Collins s Role At Chick Fil A Essay
Jimmy Collins is a distinguished leader. Former president and chief operating
officer of Chick fil A, Inc.. Before starting his career with Chick fil A, he worked
for a food service consulting business and designed the floor plans for the Chick fil
A stores. Mr. Collins describes his role at Chick fil A as the chief follower of the
founder. He is also the founder of creative followership. He is driven by
influencing people that are interested in advancing their careers and wants to share
his experiences and wisdom with them. Mr. collins was willing to share some of
his stories and experience with us. Not all of the stories were happy endings or the
pretty picture we sometimes try to portray to people. He stressed the importance of
telling your own story. When you tell your own story, you are able to do it with
passion and emotion. You can feel it out for those listening. I have always been
somewhat afraid of telling people my whole story, because I never know how they
will react or treat me after. But, the reality is, my story has power, the power to
influence. My story is my own, and no one can change it. I was inspired by how
transparent Mr. Collins was with telling his story, he was inspiring and
motivational. As Christians, it is our job to witness and love others, our stories
have power and they are one of the easiest ways to relate to others and build God s
kingdom. Mr. Collins shared the best career advice he had ever received. He found

Summary Of Martin Van Biuren
Martin Van Buren once said, Our country presents on every side the evidences of
that continued favor under whose auspices it, has gradually risen from a few feeble
and dependent colonies to a prosperous and powerful confederacy. America wouldn t
have prospered into the powerful confederacy Van Buren describes it to be without
the values and ideas of America s colonial past. America s present is best understood
to be based upon British culture and government. However, colonists fought for
freedom from the suffocating British throne, they tolerated religious freedom, and
their government was founded on republican views. Therefore, America s present is
constructed of values and ideas opposite of what the British taught. When colonists

How Wells Fargo Should Promote Sales Involvement
Wells Fargo is one of the leading companies for sales. As an employee, I m honored
to be asked by the CEO, to recommend actions to promote sales involvement. In the
outline, I list six critical topics on what I recommend how Wells Fargo should
promote sales involvement. Following the outline, is an explanation of three of the
most critical topics that are listed in the outline. Lastly, a propose of a potential course
of implementation is stated.
At Wells Fargo, teamwork and sales are important skills needed in order to succeed
as an employee. At Wells Fargo, I plan to incorporate a system where each
employee gains the skills necessary so that each task runs efficiently. To begin, I
will start observing each banker s, and each teller s normal routine. I will be
listening carefully to the conversations the tellers, and bankers are having with
customers. As an observer, I will be taking notes on what the employee s strengths
and weakness are when lobbying to a customer, and working with coworkers. I will
continue this process for a week. Once the week is completed, I will have one on
one meetings with each employee. After the employee s one on one meeting is
complete, a proposed course of implementation will be to having each employee
sign my notes, and receiving a copy. Once signed, they will be aware of their
strengths and weakness. It will be clear on what they must improve.
Another critical idea I would like to create is a system called Buddy Banker. The
ideal is
New Appliances In The 1920s
Appliances New appliances were a big part of the technological and social change
during the 1920s. The appliances were a big change and was the first attempt of a
smart house . It affected housewives because now that the appliances were there,
society expected them to clean the house faster and keep it tidy all day. Appliances
showed intolerance towards women, mostly housewives. The appliances were an
example of how Americans expected housewives to clean and nice for guests and
husbands since they had the help of appliances. They did not expect the house to
ever be dirty. KKK The KKK was an organization that formed around the civil war,
whose purpose was to discriminate blacks and to deplete their freedom in horrible

It was like a giant party town and changed society in many ways. From Jazz, to

people from all over. Harlem was a city that showed pure Americanism. It was the
birth of the first American music genre, and brought people together in the clubs
and the movie theaters. Speakeasy Speakeasies were secret bars during
prohibition. These bars were in closed shops at night and other secret spots to hide
from the cops. This was a big change from the nice bars that were legal before
prohibition, but people still went to them. Speakeasies showed the protest of
American s against the government. Even though alcohol was banned, people found

Clubs and Theaters These clubs and theaters were a big hit during the twenties and
were a great landmark of the changes in society during these times. They were
home to great stars and the theaters started the idea of hollywood and movies. Clubs
and Theaters were a perfect example of the intolerance towards just working for
hours a day and having no down time. Now that downtime was a thing, there was

The Harlem Renaissance Movement
During the early 19th century going on in the 1910s through the middle of the 1930s,
There was black movement in the north that set a huge statement. The name of that
organization was called the Harlem Renaissance. And that was a way to show the
talents in culture from african americans mainly during a hard period for blacks and
the U.S.A also.So the question is what was a very influnenental culture time period in
history. And heres the history or timeline of the renaissance an what it lead up too,
and also the impact of it.
The beginning of the harlem renaissance began with the head and founder of the
NAACP(National Association For Advance Colored People ) W.E.B Du Bois
saying a idea to start an organization for blacks to come together. After that same
talk during the mid 1910s talked about the organization and the name for came

between the head members in the NAACP. And in Harlem a location pointing to a

During the investigation, authorities found a letter demanding fifty thousand dollars
in exchange for return of the child. Investigation proved unsuccessful to find any

attempted to make contact with the criminals using a gateway through authorities and
close friends. Less than a week following the abduction, the suspects sent another

thousand dollars.
Authority In The Florentine Republic
During the Italian Renaissance and particular in the Florentine Republic, the Roman
Catholic Church had a strong influence on the state and regarded the relationship
between moral good governance and legitimate authority highly. In contrast during
this period NiccolГІ di Bernardo dei Machiavelli (1469 1527) an official in the
Florentine Republic from 1498 to 1512, consisted that there is no moral basis on
which to judge the difference between legitimate and illegitimate uses of power.
When the Medici was out of power Machiavelli was involved in diplomatic and
military affairs. Arrested and tortured in 1513, accused of conspiracy against Medici
family, an important historian, politician, diplomat, philosopher, humanist, and

What is a parable?
The parables in the Gospels are Jesus lessons that are intended to bring

Jesus audience were crowds of people that sat on the countryside listening to His

was a way of determine who really came to understand his teachings or just came

Generation Essay. Generational Differences Essay Example StudyHippo.com

  • 1. Generation Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "Generation" is undoubtedly a challenging task. The concept of generation encompasses a wide array of facets, ranging from societal and cultural influences to technological advancements. Crafting an essay that delves into the intricacies of how different generations perceive and shape the world is no easy feat. To start with, one must navigate through the complexities of defining and categorizing generations. Sociologists and demographers often differ on the precise boundaries of each generation, and attempting to capture the essence of an entire generation within the confines of an essay requires a careful balancing act. Moreover, the essay must address the unique characteristics and experiences that define each generation. From the Silent Generation to Generation Z, each cohort has been shaped by distinct historical events, cultural shifts, and technological revolutions. Weaving together a coherent narrative that captures the essence of these diverse experiences while providing insightful analysis demands a thorough understanding of both historical context and contemporary dynamics. The challenge extends to exploring the intergenerational dynamics that influence societal trends and norms. Unraveling the complexities of how older and younger generations interact, clash, or coalesce in shaping the fabric of society requires a nuanced approach. Tackling issues such as intergenerational communication, conflicts, and shared values demands a deep exploration of psychological, sociological, and anthropological perspectives. In addition to content, the essay's structure and coherence pose another layer of difficulty. Striking the right balance between providing insightful analysis and maintaining a clear, engaging narrative is a delicate task. Ensuring that each section seamlessly connects to the overarching theme while avoiding redundancy and maintaining a cohesive flow requires careful planning and execution. Despite the inherent challenges, writing an essay on the topic of "Generation" offers a unique opportunity to delve into the ever-evolving tapestry of human experience. It requires the author to synthesize information from various disciplines, conduct thorough research, and present a thoughtful analysis that goes beyond mere chronological timelines. In conclusion, tackling the topic of "Generation" in an essay is a formidable task that demands a blend of research, analytical skills, and creativity. Navigating through the intricacies of defining and categorizing generations, exploring their unique characteristics and experiences, and unraveling intergenerational dynamics all contribute to the complexity of the endeavor. Crafting such an essay requires a commitment to understanding the nuances of human history and society, making it both a challenging and rewarding intellectual pursuit. For those who find themselves overwhelmed by the complexity of such essays, it's worth noting that assistance is available. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, providing a resource for those seeking guidance in navigating the intricate landscape of academic writing. • 2. The Long Lasting Effects Of Colonialism On Africa The first source that I have chosen demonstrates the long lasting effects Africa endured due to imperialism. The illustration shows the countries that were involved in colonizing Africa and what they contributed to how the continent is prospering currently. Also, the cartoon shows how severely the presence of imperialism affected Africa. For instance, when countries exploited Africa during 1880 1913, the people who inhabited the land experienced poverty and starvation due to countries claiming and controlling their land. During the scramble of Africa, countries saw the great amounts of natural resources they were able to exploit, such as a large quantity of diamonds, gold, salt, iron, etc. The extraction of the continents resources increased poverty in Africa which resulted in their economy to plummet. Imperialism is a major factor to Africa s lack of development and instability due to the injustice that was exhibited towards the population of Africa. African s were forced into slavery and cheap labor which as a result destroyed the African community. The citizens are still presently trying to rebuild their government and salvage the damage that was done by the British. In the second source that I have selected explains the benefits that Britain gained through imperializing sections of Africa and the results it has led to presently. Africa s resources were left mainly untouched by natives and largely accessible for the country to extract. The country s economy greatly

  • 5. What do you admire and criticise about Odysseus behaviour... What do you admire, and what do you find to criticise, in Odysseus behaviour as a hero? What I admire about Odysseus behaviour as a hero is his confidence. Rather than being self doubting of his abilities he is proud of them. We see this in Book 9 when he deals with the Cyclops Polyphemus. Firstly, he tells the Cyclops his name is Nobody . This idea helps him to escape at the end when Polyphemus screams O my friends, it s Nobody s treachery, not violence that is doing me to death , and the other Cyclopes believe that nobody is hurting him. He escapes the cave using a sharpened, burning stick to blind the son of Poseidon, and then laughs to himself about how the cunning notion of a false name fooled the Cyclops. He shows a lot of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Skills with a weapon are necessary to have for a hero. Book 22 sees the great battle between Odysseus and the suitors. He kills all the suitors despite their pleas. He shows some compassion however when he saves Phemius and Medon, who were forced to work for the suitors. He could have killed them just like all the others, but spares their lives at the request of his son. I admire that he is kind to them after being so ruthless to the others. Book 23 is when Odysseus and Penelope get together again. Odysseus shows why he went through his journey in this book. After all the obstacles and deaths of his friends he has reached his goal. I admire him as a hero in this book because we see he really cares for Penelope. I think back at all that he went through in his journey and admire him because he did it all for her and their son. Some might argue that Odysseus was not just simply confident, but arrogant. We see an example of his arrogance in Book 9. Once he has escaped from the cave of Polyphemus he decides to taunt the Cyclops. He reveals his real name and says So he was not such a weakling after all, the man whose friends you meant to overpower and eat in your hollow cave! . This taunting nearly costs him his life as Polyphemus throws a rock at the ship and misses. The Cyclops also curses Odysseus. Had he been quiet he may not have went through as much suffering. In Book 10 he needs help from Hermes to save him and his crew.
  • 6. F Scott Fitzgerald Writing Style Wealth, women, and writing, are all words that describe F. Scott Fitzgerald s life. Fitzgerald started writing at a young age and did not become famous right away. He fell in love with a southern belle, Zelda Fitzgerald, while he was in the army. Fitzgerald wrote for the rest of his life, he died at the age of forty four. He also has a particular writing style, such as using vivid imagery and a constant setting. Fitzgerald made connections from his life into his writing by including the societal standards of women and the time period. F. Scott Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896 in St. Paul, Minnesota. His mother, Mary McQuillan, was from Irish descent. His father, Edward Fitzgerald, tried to provide for the family. At first, he was a manufacturer but he was not successful, so he went into the sales business in New York. The Fitzgerald family then moved to New York for Edward s work, but eventually moved back to St. Paul. The family then lived off of Mary s inheritance (Bruccoli). Fitzgerald published his first story at thirteen years old in the school newspaper, it was a detective story (O Connor). This was the beginning of his writing career. Fitzgerald started college at Princeton and was a part of the class of 1917. While attending Princeton, he kept busy by writing lyrics and scripts for the Princeton Triangle Club musicals. He also wrote for two magazines, the Princeton Tiger and the Nassau Literary magazine (Bruccoli). Later in his college career, he dropped out
  • 7. Target Corporation Weaknesses Some of Target s strengths are its growth. In less than 100 years, Target has grown to over 1,790 stores and over 300,000 employees. MBA Lectures says that 97% of American consumers are familiar with Bullseye (SWOT Analysis of Target Corporation (2010, September 19.)). Knowing the logo and mascot of any company is a huge deal for the company. You may see a bullseye somewhere else, such as a dart board in a toy store, and think of Target. In 2009, Target was listed 28 on the Fortune 500, making it the second largest retailer in the United Statesbehind Walmart. Shopping at Target does not mean you have to actually physically drive to the store. Target has an online website and a mobile app so people can shop anytime, anywhere (SWOT Analysis of Target Corporation(2010, September 19), Target Corporation SWOT Analysis, USP Competitors (2011 2016)).... Another weakness, that is particularly interesting is that Target does not play music in any of their stores. This might not seem like a weakness, but other stores, such as Starbucks and Sears, do play music. When you walk into a store that is playing music, depending on the music you may feel relaxed or you may want to dance, but it lifts the mood for people who are shopping (SWOT Analysis of Target Corporation (2010, September 19), Target Corporation SWOT Analysis, USP Competitors
  • 8. Art During The Renaissance The Renaissance in Italy included some of the greatest artists we have ever seen from Leonard Da Vinci, to Michelangelo, and Raphael. The Renaissance took place from the late 13th to 16th centuries. Firstly, during the renaissance liberal arts was brought back to light, which were on the brink of being extinct1. Secondly, what is also interesting about art during this time was that most of the art had Christian in its roots, for example, Botticelli s The Allegory of Spring is said to have had a Christian interpretation1. Every Italian artist, willingly took the title of architect, sculptor, and painter 2. At the beginning of the fifteenth century, the Italian painters had asked the Flemish painters for their secret techniques because the Italians felt like the language of paintingwas one that was always meant for them2. The sculptors claimed their inspiration from ancient works. Lastly the Renaissanceintroduced idea of individualism, which helped the Italians get away from everything that was going on during that time. Art during the Renaissance included painting, sculpting and architecture, all of which were an important part in expressing the idea of individualism and making art what is today. Fresco was one of the most popular works artists did during this time because it was fairly cheap and a lot of buildings, like churches had no windows and were just plain, concrete walls. Frescos helped soften up the walls by telling stories through the frescos.

If that is true than cheating should be just as American. Ever since the creation of America s favorite pastime, baseball, cheating has been a major part of the game. Each era of baseball has showed more complex ways of cheating the game. Although, cheating in baseball has been around since the introduction of the game, only few scandals have really made history. Burns took off for New York with his boxer friend Billy Maharg to meet with Arnold Rothstein, a big time gambler, to come up with the money for the fix. At first, Rothstein did not go for it but then Sullivan went to Rothstein with his plans for the fix totally laid out. Rothstein decided to get in on the fix. He sent one of his men to Chicago with $ 40,000 to give to Sullivan to give to the players and the rest would be distributed if the series went as planned. However, when Sullivan got the money he quickly gambled $30,000 and then gave $10,000 to Gandil. The players not happy with the amount that they got they decided that they would throw the first two games and then ask for more money. Gandil told Sullivan he needed more money before the fourth game or the fix was off, Sullivan complied and after the game Gandil gave $5,000 to each of the players except Weaver who apparently was not participating in the plan. The series continued as planned and the White Sox lost the series to the Cincinnati Reds, five games to three (findingdulcinea.com). Modem Feminist approaches [c. 1000 words] Discussing the contemporary sociological perspective of modern feminism to divine wisdom should involve a brief overview of the theology s focus. McGrath suggests that Feminism is a global movement, arguing for gender equality and a right understanding of the relationship between women and men to be affirmed by contemporary theology and practice (McGrath, 2011: p.88). Thus, when discussing wisdom in the scriptures the feminists are observing how gender is represented and the effect of this representation upon helping or hindering a right relationship between the genders. To recap, Proverbs illustrate Wisdom as both teacher and as a personified woman, whereas in John, Wisdom is incarnate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather it compels us to continue the struggle with conventional masculine language for God and the exclusivist authoritarian functions and implications of such language. Feminist theology must rearticulate the symbols, images, and names of Divine Sophia in the context of our own experiences and theological struggles in such a way that the ossified and absolutized masculine language about God and Christ is radically questioned and undermined and the Western cultural sex/gender system is radically deconstructed (Fiorenza, 1995: p.162). Therefore Fiorenza believes that the language signifying feminine impetus of God is a way of realising gender equality and thus a better understanding of the relationship between genders which has been oppressed too long by the over emphasis on masculinity. Fiorenza further explains that without the loving attention and divine care as embodied and made present in the figure of Divine Sophia the true meaning of the Father is diminished (Fiorenza, 1995: p.154) Another feminist theologian, Johnson, also suggests that reclaiming the feminine Wisdom could challenge the patriarchy embedded in classical Christology. Johnson realized as discussed above, that the early Christian s use of personified Wisdom was a developmental step in the understanding
  • 11. Plea Bargaining Argumentative Analysis No one likes to be incarcerated in a six by eight foot room for twenty three hours of the day. Rather than having the defendant plead guilty, many cases around the U.S. have plea bargaining as a form of negotiation between the defendant, prosecutor, and defense counsel on behalf of the interests involved (Schmalleger 2016). It has quickened the judicial system by having cases no longer lead to trial and helps the prosecutor and the defendant agree to a guilty plea if the prosecutor is unsure of a win. Plea bargaining helps the courts run smoothly when they have a large amount of work. Considering the type of defendant, plea bargaining often times comes with conditions where the defendant helps investigators or other law enforcement agencies

Understanding how many reefs are currently affected as well as which areas are experiencing the highest severity of damage is highly important. • 13. Literary Criticism In Cardinal Richelieu Alfredo Camacho Dr. Fontes CLAS 5 3 October 2017 Book Review Poetry is a form of art that serves the purpose to express the writer s opinions, and also combat oppressive forces without the use of any physical force. These writers can relate to the expression by the playwright and novelist Edward Bulwer Lytton in the play Cardinal Richelieu, The pen is mightier than the sword (BBC); this expression serves as a metaphor in its own right as the nature describes the effect of words to provide a stronger impact on the intended audience than any kind of violence would. This term ties in perfectly with the ideas of Chicanx; the Chicanx perspective of life is oppression and the dangers of racial tensions and manners to dethrone those who impose that on others. They have long fought against the unfair forces that have come against them, and have been involved in many violent forms of protest. With Cesar Chavez becoming more invested in the peaceful form of protesting to gain trust and momentum in the campaigns they were in, more and more writers began to express their feelings and place their own two cents into the mixture of ideas. Often long stories are made in effort to express a personal form of how life is changing and growing fears are turning into, however some writers chose to use poetry as their version of a weapon against the oppressing forces. A poem is much shorter and does not provide the sufficient build up that can be placed into a Chicano novel, but the effect of

The taxes strangled the working class, the privileges of the nobles exempted them from conscription into the military, and King Louis XVI s inability to perform led to an intense feeling of hatred for the King and the nobility. Lewis reveals the weight of taxation as a strangling force which did not allow for lower class people to support themselves properly (Lewis, pg. 52). Thus, this created an immense amount of discontent which aided in starting the French Revolution. Upper classmen were exempt from such taxes and could avoid mandatory military service which forced more lower classmen into the military to replace the positions which would have been filled in by the upper classmen (Lewis, pg. 52). With the impending taxes and drafting of lower classmen into the military, this further improved conditions for a revolution. To add to all this dissatisfaction, King Louis XVI called an army to quell the National Assembly which created a sense of fear as people believed he would disband the assembly, halting all the progress made in promoting the wellbeing of the Frenchmen (McKay, pg. 663). These events seem to have been a plausible cause for the French Revolution, however, these events did not provide the initial
  • 15. The Physics of Roller Coasters Essay The Physics of Roller Coasters The roller coaster has its beginnings in Russia where during the 1600 s. People crafted sleds out of wood and built hills made of ice blocks. The hills had sand at the bottom to help slow down the sleds so they would not crash when they reached the bottom of the hill.1 Over time, the roller coaster has become more complex. They now are taller, faster and are designed out of different materials like wood and steel. Although roller coasters are fun and exciting, the questions, what allows them to twist and turn, go up and down hills at a fairly good speed? Then as the coaster begins its decent down the first hill, the energy is converted back into kinetic energy as the train is pulled toward the Earth by gravity. Gravity is the traditional source of power for roller coasters that accelerates the train as it goes on its hilly, twisty journey.3 Gravity is a unit of acceleration, that is always present, that causes free falling objects on Earth to change their speed at a rate of approximately 10 m/s (32ft/s) every second.1 So, as the train goes down the hills of the track it has a positive acceleration giving it the necessary potential energy to climb the next hill, make a turn, or travel through a loop. Also, as the train goes down the hills and loops, it experiences a free fall effect. This occurs when an object falls and is not inhibited by other objects2 (314 315). As the train goes down the hill, the coasters mass causes it to accelerate faster than the people in the car. During the free fall stages of the ride the train does not exert any pressure on the riders or the track causing the riders to feel momentarily weightlessness. This is why the train has wheels on the bottom of the track and the passengers of the train have some sort of restraining device to hold them into their seats.3 So, as the train goes down the hill it is actually falling, causing the velocity of the train to increase due to the

Matryoshka is reduced from the name Matryona which means a great lady, the mother of the family. It is hollow inside, wooden, brightly ornamented doll in the form of semi oval shape, with smaller size dolls inserted inside the big one. Perhaps this is why Matryoshka was the main souvenir of the Soviet Union. It was called a miracle of light, because it is a work of human hands. As a souvenir,

When it was built, Virginia City was booming with a population of approximately twenty two thousand people. Virginia City at the time wanted to show off some of its pride as a city with a new four story school. As the school today is so very old and has a history, people running the museum have to balance keeping the place funded and staying historically true. Today, the museum has lost much of its historical authenticity and has taken on more of a museum s role, rather than a historical building role. This comes from the fact that the Fourth Ward School has undergone massive reconstruction since its desertion in 1936. That does not take away from the fact that the school looks to be authentic, like it was just preserved. Even if the school is entirely re created, with the vast sum of knowledge on the school, we can recreate it masterfully so that everyone can still learn and enjoy being in a historical building that is the last of its kind. The Fourth Ward School blends the needs of historic preservation well with the needs of a modern museum. It is likely that as time goes on, the needs of the museum will outweigh the needs of historical

However, how many female military leaders do you know? Joan of Arc is one of the most successful female leaders out there. Before she led an army, Joan was just an ordinary peasant living in medieval France. She believed that God had selected her to lead a victory over England. She convinced prince Charles of Valois to allow her to lead a French army to the confined city of OrlГ©an, where it achieved a momentous victory over the English and their French allies, the Burgundians. After the prince was crowned King Charles VII, Joan was seized by Anglo Burgundian forces. She was then tried for witchcraft along with heresy, and was found guilty. Since she was found guilty, she was burned at the stake in 1431, at the age of 19. • 36. The Effects Of Genetic Mutations On Dna Repair Systems And... Several decades of cancer research have identified thousands of mutation causing carcinogens, genetic mutations in DNA repair systems and mutations that cause dysregulation in critical signal pathways involved in cell cycle progression, cell growth and programmed cell death. Human cancers cannot be classified as a single disease because they are each unique on the molecular level. Often the same documented cancertype can inflict two patients with similar symptoms, but the required treatment for each patient will be different because the molecular mechanisms causing the symptoms must be treated differently. This is the primary reason why there is no cure for cancer because we may have one word to describe all cancers; it is a classification of many diseases. (The question is irrational and misinformed. If cancer were one disease with an underlying fundamental mutation or pathogen that could be isolated, then we would have found the cure by now.) Each type of cancer is inherently unique containing a minimum of 5 to 6 mutations that comprise the genotype, which could result in similar phenotypes. However, they have similar properties for which they are classified, called hallmarks of cancer . The hallmarks of cancer include persistent signaling for cell proliferation, circumventing growth/tumor suppressors, evading cell death, promoting endless replication, activating angiogenesis, and triggering metastasis and invasive properties (Hanahan and Weinberg 2011). He was nearly beaten to death, had his eye gouged out, and was shot in the head, wrapped in barbed wire, then thrown in the river and held down by a cotton gin fan by two white men. These men were later acquitted of their crimes by a jury of their peers. This homicide was a major turning point in the civil rights movements that were sweeping across the nation in the 1950s. He was able to recount the story by referencing real life events and using symbolism and magical realism. Magical realism is a literary genre that combines realistic narrative with supernatural elements of dreams or fantasy. Some great examples of magical realism are: Mrs. Gregg s bizarreness, Alice Conroy Flashback, and Bobo demon eye. Probably some of our charged reactions are symptomatic of the times and the culture; but more of them seem to stem from the always too easy identification between troubled poet and what might be the tone of imagery and rhythm of the poem considered. Because Plath worked so intensively in archetypal imagery (water, air, fire as bases for image patterns, for example), many of her poems could be read as either dark wasteland kinds of expressions, or as the reverse, as death by water, salvation poems destruction implied, but also survived, phoenix like. All of the public schools in Little Haiti have a grade of either C or D ( Miami Dade County Public Schools, n.d.). These schools with below average achievement scores do not benefit the children attending who are coming from a community that has a below average high schooldiploma rate. As the workforce continues to become more competitive, college educationis going to begin to replace high schooldiplomas as a prerequisite for the majority of jobs. If the public education system does not begin to provide education that not only aids these youth in obtaining high school diplomas but additionally supports their advancement through college, than this community will not be able to move ahead with society. There is a high concentration of Haitian Americans holding low skill, low wage jobs. Understanding that Haiti is one of the poorest countries and that immigrants came to the United States with no formal education, necessary steps need to be taken to ensure that each generation has an opportunity to advance obtain this education and advance their community a bit more (Sohmer, Jackson, Katz, Warren, 2005). There are a couple ways this writer would begin to address this gap. First, the schools need to initiate or strength their parent association programs. Parents should receive ongoing education on student progress, areas needing improvement, and ways to best support

Egyptians were often married off around the age of 16 while the Incans waited until the approximate age of 30. The Incans waited longer because of the cultural steps that were taken to become an adult. Each sex had their own paths that were taken as they grew up; four in all for each sex. The final path for each sex was at the age of 30, when a man became a warrior and a woman had become marrying age. This was much the same for the Egyptians just at a faster pace, probably due to the high mortality rate of children. As stated by Lin, words can be used to capture a specific moment in time or a single event or a generalized image to resurrect memories of those lost in a tragic event. This is the goal of any monument at it s purest; to remember an event as it happened. Words can also depict important saying of the past, as it does the Gettysburg Address on the Lincoln Memorial (Savage). This is cause for importance because it prevents those words from being lost or twisted in the pages of history books.
