The Goals Of Disability Management Programs
Work related injuries are prevalent and costly. Each year an estimated 270 million workplace
accidents occur worldwide. The annual cost of these accidents is $1.25 trillion U.S dollars. Under
the Canadian human rights legislation, employers have a duty to accommodate individuals as they
return to work. Meaning those who are attempting to return to work following an injuryor illness via
change in job task and or the work environment to enable workers with temporary or permanent
disability to perform work productively. In light of financial and legislative realities, organizations
develop disability management programs to prevent workplace injury and illness and to
accommodate workers in a manner that facilitates early and safe return to work. The goals of
disability management programs include promotion of safe workplace; coordinated programming
in health, rehabilitation, and accommodation interventions. Disability management programs are
most effective when developed and applied using a systems approach. A system approach
emphasizes the work and organization context; for instance, the type of work and safety record of
the organization, instead of focusing sold on individual employees. Research shows that
workplaces with people focused workplace culture, positive safety attitudes, and articulated policies
on disability management tend to report shorter absences, lower disability costs, and less frequent
absences arising from workplace injury. Organizations heavily

Alice s Journey Down The Rabbit Hole
Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll endures as one of the most iconic children s books of all
time. It remains one of the most ambiguous texts to decipher as Alice s adventures in Wonderland
have created endless critical debate as to whether we can deduce any true literary meaning, or
moral implication from her journey down the rabbit hole. Alice s station as a seven year old
Victorian child creates an interesting construct within the novel as she attempts to navigate this
magical parallel plain, yet retain her Victorian sensibilities and learn from experience as she
encounters new creatures and life lessons. Therefore, this essay will focus on the debate as to
whether Alice is the imaginatively playful child envisaged by the Romantics, or a Victorian child
whose imagination has been stunted by her education and upbringing. The earlier governing Puritan
faith perceived childhood to be a perilous period, and believed children to be inherently sinful;
consequential of the fall , which saw a widespread influential religious implication in literature of
the time. Children s literature was therefore geared toward the instruction of children, concerned
with providing role models to instruct their behaviour, and was preoccupied with the notion of
saving the child s soul. In children s literature the notion and construct of childhood became an
influential force...it became associated with freedom...and play; focusing on educating children
malleablly.

Health Disparities Of The American Indian Elderly Population
Health disparities in the American Indian Elderly Population by Anabel Rotger
The aim of this paper is to gain information and knowledge about health disparities. The objectives
are to understand what is a disparity, to determine if in fact there are health disparities, to learn
who are the target of disparities, to recognize how does a disparity affect the target, and most
importantly to assess how can a disparity be eliminated. In addition, this paper will narrow its
research to a specific minority: The American Indian elderly population.
For this paper and hereinafter health disparity is defined as a particular type of health difference that
is closely linked with social, economic, and/or environmental disadvantage. Health disparities
adversely affect groups of people who have systematically experienced greater obstacles to health
based on their racial or ethnic group; religion; socioeconomic status; gender; age; mental health;
cognitive, sensory, or physical disability; sexual orientation or gender identity; geographic location;
or other characteristics historically linked to discrimination or exclusion. (healthypeople.gov). This
definition is from Healthy People 2020, the guide for the Nation s health promotion.
Some of the background information and demographics related to the American Indian elderly
population was extracted from different sources. According to an article from the American Indian
Culture and Research Journal, the American Indian Tribal nations and

Essay on Yamashiro Restaurant Review
Yamashiro Restaurant
Dave Thomas an American restaurateur and a philanthropist once said, It all comes back to the
basic. Serve customers the best tasting food at a good value in a clean, comfortable restaurant,
and they ll keep coming back. (thomas). Everyone can agree on Dave Thomas, but I have a
couple more criteria to add to his idea of a great successful restaurant. If I go out to eat I might as
well pick a place that, though may be expensive, has scrumptious food because why bother going
to spend money on food you can make yourself? A great restaurant has to meet three of my criteria
s: the DГ©cor and atmosphere, impeccable service and cleanliness, and most importantly the food.

significance this structure had in Los Angeles history. People that go there have a choice of where
they prefer to be seated: The Japanese Garden Court, Koi room, Skyview room, Sunset room, pool
bar, or the lounge. Each of these rooms has their own theme and particular view. The Japanese
Garden Court is absolutely beautiful because the actual seating area wraps around a manicured
Zen garden with a soothing waterfall and colorful Koi pond. Then this also leads to the Koi
room a delicate ornately painted room that also has its own Koi pond and garden. The Skyview
room is glass enclosed with vista prospect of Hollywood. I then head over to the sunset room,
where you see the sun goes to sleep and the moon rises. The pool bar is breath taking because of
its 800 year old Japanese Pagoda and newly renovated pool. The lounge is positioned so that
every 400 of the seats can provide the best views of the city. As I was walking through these
sections, I noticed the atmosphere changed my mood. When I was in the Japanese Garden court
and Koi room, I felt a sense of romance. In the other rooms, particularly the Skyview room, I felt
a sense of tranquility. Each space has its own particular ambience but all evoke a sense of opulent
calm, a rare treat in hectic LA. At the end of my little tour, I decided to choose the Japanese
Garden room. I just could not resist the Koi pond with

Slavitt Vs Hardy
Title
The Titanic was one of the largest ships that has ever been made. On its first voyage, the Titanic
quickly ceased after encountering an iceberg. In the poem, Titanic , David R. Slavitt gives a brief
description of the Titanic and how the world has remembered the legend. In a different poem, The
Convergence of the Twain , Thomas Hardy illustrates the impact an Immanent Will had on the
crashing of the Titanic. Both, Slavitt and Hardy challenge the views that people have on the legend
of the Titanic by applying tone as well as creating a duality of expectations and reality.
Through tone, the authors portray each way the Titanic should be identified by using effective
word choice. Many lives were lost on the Titanic that day, but instead... Show more content on

Slavitt correlates the Titanic to the world while Hardy challenges whether or not the crashing off
the Titanic was choice or fate. Slavitt implies that the world becomes numb to death and tragedy by
writing, And the world, shocked, mourns, as it ought to do and almost never does. When tragedies
similar to the Titanic happen, people overlook and forget the events until another tragedy happens.
With the improvement of communication through technology, news and events are shared at the
speed of sound. Every few seconds bears a new tragic event; for instance, the lives lost in the
Boston Massacre, the bar shooting in Orlando, and numerous school shootings fade into the chaos
each day brings. Hardy previews the conception of the Titanic happening by choice or by fate.
Hardy mentions, The Immanent Will that stirs and urges everything...A Shape of Ice, for the time
far and dissociate, formulating that fate forced the Titanic to crash into the iceberg(18 21). Hardy
signifies the crash happened because of the pride the architects acquired of their magnificent
structure. According to prior knowledge of the short sail at sea, the captains of the ship had the
choice of taking a test run, turning around after having a fire on board, or simply cruise at a
slower pace. Hardy reminds of the hurried departure and the idea that the crash rested in the hands

The Theory And Practice Of Understanding And Working With...
This essay is written to compare the person centred and cognitive behavioural counselling by
outlining both the theory and practice of understanding and working with fear and sadness. This
will be done by outlining the theory of the counselling relationships and the theory in practice.
Psychology is equipped with a wide variety of therapies, techniques and approaches based on
different models and theories of human behaviour and development. When it comes to
counselling, it is useful to be armed with a selection of tools, so that a counsellor s professional
resource allows them to be flexible and to apply different techniques based on the individual
problems and situational needs of each client. But when it comes to most of the counselling models
that a practitioner decides to set as the foundation of their work, both client centred approaches and
cognitive behavioural therapy are equally popular and widespread. Nevertheless, these theories
have differences as similarities too. (180 words)
The client centred model, also sometimes referred to as person centred, was developed by Carl
Rogers around the middle of the twentieth century. Carl R. Rogers is known as the father of client
centred therapy. Throughout his career, he dedicated himself to humanistic psychologyand is well
known for his theory of personality development. He began developing his humanistic concept
while working with abused children. Rogers attempted to change the world of psychotherapy when

analyze and forecast a firm s finances; assess risk, evaluate investment opportunities, decide when

institutions focus on the flow of money through financial institutions and the markets in which
financial assets are exchanged. They track the impact of interest rates on the flow of that money.

International Labor Standards Of Child Work
V. INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE International labour standards characterize child work by
its outcomes; it includes work that is rationally, physically, socially or ethically perilous and
destructive to children, and meddles with their educating. UNICEF characterizes child work as
work that surpasses a base number of hours, contingent upon the age of a child and on the sort of
work. The 18th International Conference of Labor Statisticians held at Geneva held that Child
work (slated for nullification) ought to reflect the engagement of children in undesirable
exercises and could fall into the accompanying classes:(i) Labour that is performed by a child
who is below the minimum age specified for that kind of work and that is thus likely to impede
the child s education and full development. (ii) Labour that jeopardizes the health, safety or
morals of a child, either because of its nature or because of the conditions in which it is carried
out (known as hazardous work). (iii) The worst forms of child labour other than hazardous work
which are internationally defined to encompass children (persons below 18 years of age) in
slavery, trafficking, debt bondage and other forms of forced labour, forced recruitment of children
for use in armed conflict, their use in prostitution and pornography, and illicit activities The
International Labor Organization has evaluated that in 2004 there were 218 million children caught
in child work of whom 126 million where in dangerous work. The

1. Social psychologists observe that every group develops its own outcast or misfit, who is
blamed for all sorts of group malfunctions and woes. Have you observed this dynamic in your own
work, school, church, or family groups?
Yes this dynamic appears in some schools where a child or any student for that matter is bullied or
singled out. Some peoples working conditions could possibly have a group malfunction as in co
workers can be racist to one another.

5. The stones are mentioned five times near the beginning of the story and then five or six times
more at the end. Why is their presence so important? What are the historical/biblical associations of
stoning ? Do they apply in this situation?
The importance of stones being mentioned so much is the author is trying to keep the reader
informed that someone is going to get hurt or killed. Adding to that, the author never actually
states what the stones are supposed to be used for, that kept in mind; the reader can come to a
realization at the end of the story. The historical/biblical associations of stoning are when back in
the old times, someone persecuted of a crime or a non believer of a religion would be stoned to
death. These associations apply in this situation because that s what s happening but they do not
make sense because the individual being stoned has not committed any wrongdoing to be
persecuted.

Most mentors in stories are believed to be serious, wise and helpful. In Star Warsthat mentor is Obi

Mulan however, the mentor is a small powerless dragon named Mushu. The most noticeable
difference between the two mentors is the motive and way to train their hero. Mushu was not the

Struggles Of A Black Man
Struggles Of a Black Man Ballad of the Landlord is a poem by Langston Hughes that shows the
struggles of a black man in a white society. There are opposing forces that make this black man
suffer and he gets no retribution or any justice for the things that the people accuse him of.
Through each of these voices the poem is thoroughly explained and can be analysed in such a
way. The forces in this poem is the tenant, landlord, police, and the press. Each one of these
forces shows the racial struggles of an innocent black man. The main person in the poem is the
tenant, which in the last line tells us, he is black. The tenant is characterized by his slang and
his strong dislike for the landlord. The tenant uses slang, contracted words, and nonstandard
grammar. This non formal way of English suggests the tenant s separation from the world of
convention, represented by the formal way of the police and the press, which appear later in the
poem. Although the tenant speaks in a non formal way, do not let that fool you. The tenant s
reason to be mad at the landlord is reasonable and just. He begins with a reasonable complaint and
a gentle reminder that the complaint is already a week old: My roof has sprung a leak. / Don t you
member I told you about it / Way last week? (lines 2 4). In the second stanza, he appeals
diplomatically to the landlord s self interest: These steps is broken down. / When you come up
yourself / It s a wonder you don t fall down (6 8). In the third

Multilingualism and European Commission
About 250 million years ago, Pangæa the supercontinent was split up and eventually settled on the
current continental configuration. As civilization flourished, the inhabitants developed their own
language and culture on each continent. However, trading and getting along with the neighboring
communities forced many groups to learn more than their mother tongue. This pragmatic use of
multilingualism is especially evident in Sub Saharan Africa. Today, the benefits of mastering more
than one language has influenced other continents such as Europeto incorporate multilingualism
into its society. Consequently, in the world s population, multilingual speakers outnumber

Consequently, multilingualism can unlock the full potential of the single market in terms of better
jobs and prosperity (European Commission). Given the appropriate environment, people tend to
pick up a new language easily at a young age. Multilingualism doesn t require complete fluency in
another language, or the ability to speak two unrelated languages. The benefits of multilingualism
are so stupendous that they extend outside the area of language. Children and elders learning a
foreign language have been demonstrated to be consistently better able to deal with distractions,
like holding two languages concurrently without allowing words and grammar slip from one to
another (Bialystok). Multilingual speakers also develop a greater vocabulary size over time
(Kosmidis), a markedly better language proficiency in, sensitivity to, and understanding of their
mother tongue (Johnson), and have a better ear for listening and sharper memories (Lapkin, Ratte).
Furthermore, evidence has shown that skill in several languages fosters creativity and innovation:
multilingual people are aware that problems can be tackled in different ways according to different
linguistic and cultural backgrounds (European Commission). They can use this ability to find new
solutions. Ultimately, United States needs to acknowledge that the social,

The Security Of The Usa Patriot Act Essay
Although the main concern of this case had to do with Computin and protecting national security,
Shelton can also technically be charged for possessing marijuana since it is illegal under federal
law. However, it is important to look at how the FBI kept surveillance on him and the questionable
manner in which they entered and searched his apartment. Shelton does have substantial grounds
on which he can move to suppress the evidence of marijuana against him; however, there is no
guarantee that he will be successful in court.
Firstly, he could look at the faulty affidavit used to get the sneak and peek warrant against him.
Since the warrant obtained to search his apartment were based on untrue grounds, he can claim that
the FBI had no right to enter his apartment under false pretenses. Moreover, he can also look at the
nature of sneak and peek warrants, which allows for the delayed notice of the execution of a
warrant under the USA Patriot Actthat was implemented in light of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Was
the information that he was harboring so important that the FBI could use a false affidavit and
delay the notification of a warrant in order to search his home? If the answer is no, then Shelton has
grounds that the FBI should not have been able to search him in the first place. If the answer is yes,
then Shelton can also argue that the FBI had already gained information that they needed through

Death In Trobriand Culture
The Trobriand Islands of Papua New Guinea have been a landmark of anthropological study since
the early twentieth century. Anthropologists such as Bronislaw Malinowski and Annette Weiner
have written extensive ethnographies detailing the patriarchal ruling structure and matrilineal
descent style of Trobriand society. Different functionalist approaches to anthropologyhave attempted
to give meaning to the complex Trobriand culture. Perhaps one of the greatest performances of
Trobriand culture is in the case of death, which sets into motion a number of exchanges with layers
of individual, social, and cultural meanings. By examining Trobriand death rituals and analyzing

In comparison to structural functionalism, this branch of functionalism focused on individuals and
their specific human needs, and how institutions or customs could be shown as contributing to the
culture as a whole. The tenets of pure functionalism can be best understood by analyzing the work
of Bronislaw Malinowski. A pioneer for anthropological fieldwork, Malinowski lived in the
Trobriand Islands for two years during WWI. Although he often struggled between being a person
with the capacity for feeling and being someone who is rigorously objective and disciplined,
Malinowski s fieldwork provided the first in depth analysis of Trobriand culture (Geertz, 1988, 79).
During his study, Malinowski determined that there are seven basic human needs which include
nutrition, reproduction, bodily comforts, safety, relaxation, movement, and growth (Langness,
1974, 98). He saw culture as the instrument through which these needs could be met. Like the
historicalist Franz Boas, Malinowski placed an emphasis on the individual, yet always tried to
correlate one set of activities with a cultural whole. It was with this mindset that Malinowski and
other pure functionalists attempted to understand the culture of the Trobriand Islands. Although
Malinowski went into depth on the Baloma spirit and its journey to the afterlife or Tuma, he did
not explicitly cover death rituals in the Trobriand

The key points that will be made in this claim of fact are that students involved in extracurricular

addition, activities improve the overall student. Therefore, they help students to receive better

The Limit Point Of Capitalist Equality
In the pursuit of equality many different attempts have been made to obtain this quality including
protests and laws or legal acts. However, no matter how many legal regulations are instituted, or
protests are held, true equality has never been accessed, and will never be accessed until there are
significant changes made to the ideology and mindset of the citizens of this country. Both Chris
Chen and Christine Delphy who advocate for raceand genderequality respectively, are two authors
who believe that these radical changes must be made to create equality in society. They each
give similar yet different ways to alter the mindset of modern society. In her essay Rethinking
Sex and Gender, Delphy states that in order to truly gain equality among the sexes, we have to
eliminate the idea of gender altogether. On the other hand, in his essay The Limit Point of
Capitalist Equality, Chen argues that to eliminate racial inequality we need to change our
mindset and stop defining race as physical or cultural qualities that distinguish us, or thinking of

Although dueling was supposedly illegal, it still showed the chivalry and code of honor as
there are specific rules to the duel. Even with this being true, D artagnan was still in opposition
with Milady doing things just as bad as her actions in counter to hers. For example, in chapter
thirty six Dream of Vengeance, D artagnan has sexual contact with Milady but tricking her into
thinking it s Comte de Warde. This reveals his disregard of honor that he exemplifies in the
beginning of the book and shows his force of power and persuasion to get his way just as Milady
de Winter does. Not only that, but technically Milady de Winter is still married to Athos who
although has a broken heart, still follows the laws of the Church meaning that D artagnan had an
affair knowingly. D artagnan being the main character and hero in the novel does not justify
behavior yet he is still considered the one who can be connected with. As according to D artagnan ,

Compare And Contrast The Devil Wears Prada Book And Movie
The job a million girls would die for: Novel vs. Movie
In 2006, David Frankel made a movie version of The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger.
The book and the movie are both set in New York and tell the story of a girl named Andy. In both
versions Andy starts working for Miranda Priestly, editor in chief of Runway, a fashion magazine.
Generally the film version of The Devil Wears Prada, what kind of experiences Andy passes
through is similar to what Andy experiences in Weisberger s novel. However, the movie is
different form the book because some characters have a different appeal and image, Andy s love
life might end up positive, and it ends in a different way.
One difference is the appeal and image of the characters. For example, in the book Andy has blond
hair and lives with her boyfriend named Alex Fineman. Later in the story, Alex breaks up with
Andy. In contrast, Andy has brown hair in the movie. Also the boyfriend s name is Nate Cooper,
instead of Alex Fineman. Another difference in characters is... Show more content on

They see each other every week for dinner. Also yellow cabs, nice looking people from New York
are well represented in both versions.
Another similarity, the main storyline, is that Andy gets to work for Runway in which Miranda
Priestly is editor in chief. Andy got accepted due to an interview which was different form all
other girls. Miranda gives it a shot. In both versions Miranda was in the beginning very
dissatisfied about Andy. There is also a similarity in Miranda s way of communication. She refuses

Abstract
This paper summarizes my research in area of lodging and hotel industry, focusing on importance,
ordering and controlling amenities in hotels. I have gather information from hospitality industry
journal articles, web sites and also directly from facilities to gain knowledge on importance of hotels
amenities and guest perceived value of these amenities. This research also seeks to understand how
the hotels can use amenities to attract guest, promote the property, increase sales and set themselves

can offer entertainment for kids and give the parents ability to unwind. Some hotels for
additional fee will offer gaming console and prepaid movies. In fifth and last place is

Latest popularity of pet friendly hotels just keeps growing. In March 2011 Trip Advisor, one of

The Informative Role Of African Americans In The News Media
In the United States, the News media is one of the most powerful institutions in the country. It
serves the role as the informative arm of democracy, a vital function when the government depends
upon public participation. This informative role gives the news media tremendous power, but can
very often be negatively impacted by ulterior profit and political motives. Different Network s
portray the same story in different lights based upon their respective political leanings to garner
ratings and revenue. The impact of this ambiguity and manipulation of the truth on different
segments of the American public is profound, specifically in the news medias usage of racial
stereotypes and their subsequent adoption by the private consumers of this media.... Show more

In the times of slavery and later Jim Crow, the impact of racism on African Americans was clearly
seen, with generational bondage and segregation respectively. In today s day and age, the impact of
negative racial stereotypes on African Americans are no longer enumerated in law, but still just as
significant. One of the most important racial determinants of socioeconomic standing has been the
continuation of a system of pseudo segregation that keeps black populations separate from white
populations, (Williams, 177). Concepts such as ghettoization and redlining represent holdovers
from the former status quo of segregation that have been supported and justified by both personal
and news stereotyping. Blacks being forced, through economic and educational disadvantage, to
live in a certain area or being prevented from moving into specific neighborhoods cause self
perpetuating cycles of inequality that keep blacks separate and unequal from their white
counterparts. This can be clearly seen in the strong relationship that exists between a school being
predominantly black and concentrated poverty, and the fact that an intensely segregated African
America/and or Latino school is 14 times more likely to be a high poverty school than one that is
less than 10% black or Latino, (Williams, 179). Another significant indicator of the lower

Data Compression Essay
Data Compression
I. Introduction
In the modern era known as the Information Age, forms of electronic information are steadily
becoming more important. Unfortunately, maintenance of data requires valuable resources in
storage and transmission, as even the presence of information in storage re quires some power.
However, some of the largest files are those that are in formats re plete with repetition, and thus
are larger than they need to be. The study of data compres sion is the science which attempts to
advance toward methods that can be applied to data in order to make it take up less space. The
uses for this are vast, and algorithms will need to be improved in order to sustain the inevitably
larger files of the future. Thus, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chronicle of modern data compression begins in the late 1940 s with a method de signed by
Claude Shannon and Robert Fano, logically named Shannon Fano coding. It takes the frequencies
of the symbols in a file to represent the more recurrent ones using shorter coding. This was
improved upon by one of Fano s students, David Huffman, into an optimal version, and has
obsoleted Shannon Fano coding (except for historical pur poses).
The next step up, arithmetic coding, is similar to, and even better than Huffman coding, but it
requires more resources to implement. Also, it is burdened with patentship, one of the most
adverse (in terms of adoption) properties of data compression algorithms. The same also applies
to others such as LZW, MP3 and more obscure ones. LZW, standing for Lempel Ziv Welch, was
developed by Terry Welch, and is still patented, and used in .gif and .pdf files.
Mp3, developed by the German Fraunhofer Society in the 1990 s, is used for com pressing sounds
by removing inaudible redundancy and frequencies. It is, however, a lossy compression algorithm,
called so because it loses some information that is not es
1
sential in order to save a lot of space. I decided to gear research mostly to lossless com pression
algorithms, and will mention little more about these.
The ZIP file format is also worthy of mention in any account of data compression. It was

Analysis Of Mcewan s Atonement By Ian Mcewan
When it comes to the personal, uncontrollable misfortunes in life, there seems to be two main
ways to handle it: either ignore it, or face it then and there. Ian McEwan s Atonement is a prime
example of this struggle in dealing with traumatic situations. In Paper One, I stated that McEwan
suggests the best way to deal with life s traumas is to face them head on rather than to completely
ignore them. McEwan shows this through the mistakes Briony makes as her innocence misguides
her into a divided relationship with her sister Cecilia. Similarly, Robbie faces the traumatic war
experiences and separation from Cecilia which puts himself in a tense situation that he cannot
entirely grapple. In both cases, it s apparent that facing traumas head on leads the characters to
reflect upon their choices and overcome weaknesses. However, in Parts Two and Three, Briony s
personal stories, interpretation of events, and reflection of her choices imply something else. I
think it s clear that McEwan ultimately emphasizes that a better way to cope with trauma is to
write about them in the form of stories. Doing so allows one to not only acknowledge the traumas,
but also to move beyond it, control it, and lessen its severity. These beneficial effects can only be
achieved through means of writing stories. Writing stories forces one to acknowledge one s trauma
and eventually embrace it. Briony takes advantage of this during her nursing experiences which
forces her to mature and become independent.

Oswald. Source B declares the assassination weapon to be a Mannlincher

Oswald had no accomplices. To me this seems quite unbelievable. People who knew him in the

Many investigators have tried to solve some peculiar questions about UFO s, but many of their
conclusions cannot be proven. In 1968 the United States Air Force asked Edward U. Condon, a
physicist at the University of Colorado, to head a panel studying the claims of extraterrestrial
crafts. (Unidentified Flying Objects, Encarta encyclopedia) The committee s final report was
reviewed by a special committee of the National Academy of Sciences and released in early
1969. The 37 scientists who contributed to the report interviewed UFO witnesses and studied
physical and photographic evidence. The report, also known as the Condon Report, concluded
that not only was there no evidence of extraterrestrial control of UFOs but also that no further
UFO studies were needed. Their advice was accepted by the United States, but for other
independent laboratories it was not enough. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Whether or not a person

In the poem, How Beastly the Bourgeois is written by D.H. Lawrence. The author uses a speaker
who describes his disgust of the Bourgeois (the character) in the poem. Lawrence has the speaker
use figurative language and rhetorical devices to express the disgust the speaker has of
Bourgeois. Lawrence uses repetition, scientific diction, rhetorical questions, simile,
defamiliarization, anaphora and a conceit to show the disgust towards the character in the poem.
The ways the author uses literary works describes the Bourgeois using satire so it decreases the

A conceit is an extended metaphor. The conceit begins when the speaker uses the metaphor,
Nicely groomed, like a mushroom standing there so sleek and erect and eyeable (Line 21). The
speaker begins by saying that the character is handsome and great looking but by comparing him
to a mushroom makes the Bourgeois gross because he is talking about a poisonous mushroom
that people may think looks good on the outside but on the inside it is rotten. Then Lawrence
continues to add to the metaphor by having the speaker state, and like a fungus, living on the
remains of bygone life sucking his life out of the dead leaves (Lines 23/24). Lawrence extends
the metaphor and compares the Bourgeois to fungus. The speaker believes he is disgusting
because fungi hold bacteria and also suck life out of dead leaves. Sucking life out of dead leaves
compares to the Bourgeois being lazy and not working to earn his own money, instead he is taking
the money from either his dead parents or relatives. The author then extends the metaphor even
longer by having the speaker announce, he s stale, he s been there too long (Line 25). Lawrence
compares him to something that is hard or gross to eat which shows the reader that the man is
disgusting because any human wants to eat something stale or distasteful. The bourgeois is also
compared to a fungi which is disgusting because it is parasitic. The quote, just

the dance was first introduced by Khedrup Kuenga Gyeltshen in Ogyen Thechog Choling

The nineteenth century versions of the Dramitse Ngacham say that dance was also introduced in

Every day Public Administration #3 The observed activity was crosswalks. Crosswalks enable
pedestrians to cross busy and hazardous roadways more safely. Prior to the advent of crosswalks
pedestrians would cross the street anywhere and were at risk of injury even by horse powered
vehicles. This is important to Public Administrationas it is a safety concern for the public. This paper
will discuss the use, funding, government and citizen involvement, and how the chosen topic of
crosswalks are related to Public Administration.

Alissa Torres the chief planner from the Orange County Office of Policy and Public involvement,
whom I interviewed about pedestrian safety and Public Administration, but they are carried out and
put into place on a city level. Locally the Orange County Traffic and Transportation Department is
the one in charge of these and many other regulations. The current head is Hazem El Assar Chief
Engineer.
Citizen Involvement Citizens have several ways to get involved. Meeting are open to the public at
both the level of the Florida legislature and meetings held by the Orange County Planning and
Zoning Commission. Meetings by the Planning and Zoning Commission are televised as well
according to Dr. Torres. Currently no meetings are planned for the rest of this year.
Any Citizen has access to crosswalks and any citizen can submit a request or review for safety. All
citizens have a right to safety. Pedestrians are merely people traveling without a road based vehicle.
Any person who would choose to become a pedestrian would very likely be using this service if
they are abiding by the law. Therefore, this service affects everyone and can be used by anyone.
Funding
The construction and up keep of crosswalks is paid for by taxes as many forms of Public
Administration are. The two forms of taxes that pay for this service are sales taxes and Gasoline

Dear Minister Sushri Uma Bharti,
My name is Vynateya Purimetla, and I am an eighth grader currently attending East Hills Middle
School, in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Presently, we are in a hydrogeology unit and we have been
researching global water crises around the world and the effects they have on people who inhabit
those regions. I am writing this letter to address the issues of inadequate sanitation, untreated
sewage in groundwater, and holy rivers being polluted due to a host of reasons. These problems are
occurring in both rural and urban areas, and are affecting more than 80% of the Indian population
who depend on water polluted with untreated sewage, nitrate, and agricultural runoff for basic
survival needs, (The Huffington Post). As the leader of the Ministry of Water Resources, River
Development Ganga Rejuvenation, I hope that some of the solutions outlined in this letter could be
helpful to you in solving India s water crisis.
A problem that affects the daily life of more than a hundred million people is inadequate
sanitation and a lack of proper sanitation facilities. For example, only 87% of Indians in urban
areas have access to a sanitized latrine, while only 33% of Indians in rural areas have access to a
toilet, (The Guardian). This statistic is alarming, as it increases the susceptibility to diseases such as

We Wear The Mask By Paul Laurence Dunbar
Shapeshifting requires the ability to transcend your attachments, in particular your ego attachments
to identity and who you are. If you can get over your attachment to labeling yourself and your
cherishing of your identity, you can be virtually anybody. You can slip in and out of different
shells, even different animal forms or deity forms. Zeena Schreck, religious leader of the Sethian
Liberation Movement. In the poem We Wear the Maskby Paul Laurence Dunbarthe reader should
learn that individuals feel the need to wear a mask to change their personality into the more ideal
individual which surpasses their confidence, fear, insecurities, and emotions. This poem develops
the realities about self image and how it makes individuals act in society.
Initially, the poem opens with We wear the mask that grins and lies, it hides our cheeks and
shades our eyes (Dunbar, 1 2). The mask presents the truthful and untruthful sides of individuals.
The mask is also a work of craftiness as it forces the individual to appear happy, regardless of the
pain they may be feeling beneath the surface. Individuals that struggle with themselves wear a
mask to show everyone else that they are not struggling and have everything figured out. Just like
being in pain With torn and bleeding hearts we smile (Dunbar, 3). Individuals force smiles on their
faces to portray to others that they are happy no matter whats going on in their life.
However, this poem is also relevant to the Nobody

Analysis Of The Book The Heidi
Pirandellian Dark Comedy in Wendy Wasserstein s
The Heidi Chronicles
The main aim of this paper is to study Wendy Wasserstein s The Heidi Chronicles (1988) as a dark
comedy in the light of Pirandello s definition of dark comedy. The line between tragedy and comedy
is often thin and at times barely discernable. Certain playwrights have a gift for blurring this line,
which allows audiences to receive their message without often knowing if they should be laughing
at what appears to be a serious topic. Wendy Wasserstein(1950 2006) is one of the contemporary
female playwrights who makes use of dark comedy. She is an excellent example of the genre
dark comedy in the late twentieth century. She has won critical acclaim, Pulitzer Prizes and
numerous additional awards for her writing. Wendy Wasserstein was the first woman in history to
win the Pulitzer Prize as the author of an original play. In a 2001 Harper article on a new
generation of women playwrights, the first sentence reads When you think of female playwrights,
two words invariably come to mind: Wendy Wasserstein (334). Feminist Sally Burke writes that
the feminist playwrights who began their work in the 1970s, even those who won Obie Awards,
were virtually ignored except by scholars of feminist drama; this list includes Wasserstein (1). She
is one of the most important playwrights of our time, yet her work lacks the critical and scholarly
attention it deserves. Tragicomedy has been, in

Hannah Tupper Quotes
In the book the The Witch of Blackbird Pond; Nat, Kit, and Prudence all grow in friendship with
Hannah Tupper. They all meet Hannah in their time of need. Hannah showed them kindness, gave
them strength, and provided love for them, while Nat, Kit and Prudence all provided their own
actions of love to Hannah too, despite the consequences. When Nat s father told him he had to go
to school, Nat ran away. He eventually ran into Hannah Tupper. She showed him love and gave
him strength to go to his father and take the punishment. Nat has visited Hannah ever since and
provides gifts and materials for Hannah as his love to her. Nat would cut Hannah s grass and fix
her roof. He help her out with other things also. When Hannah needed it most, Nat took her to
saybrook to live with his grandmother to protect Hannah from the People of wethersfield. Nat
showed his love to Hannah even though Hannah did not require him to do anything.... Show more

Hannah showed Kit love. From this encounter, Kit found the strength to talk to Eleazer Kimberly
and get her job back. Hannah did not ask for anything back from Kit, but Kit showed her love to
Hannah too. She visited Hannah often and provided her company, and when Hannah needed to
escape from the people of Wethersfield, Kit came to help her get to Nat and the Dolphin. Kit
helped Hannah despite the fear of facing the rejection and possibly the punishment of the people of

The European Convention On Human Rights
Anything that is italicized needs to be rewritten
The European Convention on Human Rights. Exactly what is it and what are its aims? Its an
international treaty which only member States of the Council of Europe may sign. The Convention
lays a basic groundwork of all rights and guarantees which the States have to be held to. These
rights include the freedom of though, expression, conscience, religion, effective remedy, peace
enjoyment of possessions, and the right to vote and to stand for election. However, there are some
limitations within these rights that need mentioning: Qualified, Absolute and Limited Rights.
Absolute rights refer to the prohibition torture and inhuman and degrading treatment (Article 3).
The State can never withhold or take away these rights. Limited rights, such as the right to
liberty (article 5) may be limited under explicit and finite circumstances. Qualified rights are
those which require a balance between the rights of the individual and the needs of the wider
community or state interest. These include the right to respect for private and family life (article
8), to manifest one s religion or beliefs (Article 9), expression (Article 10), freedom of assembly
and associations (article 11), the right to peaceful enjoyment of property (protocol 1, article 1), and
to some extent, the right to education (protocol 1 Article 2)
The Council of Europe is a regional intergovernmental organization which promotes human rights,
democracy, and in the rule of

The Disconnect Between The Church s Religion And Its...
The false dichotomy that I have chosen to discuss is the current disconnect between the church s
religion and its relationship with a concentration on its influence within a lost world. The
disconnect between these two dichotomies seems to be that one side has become comfortable in
their current state of salvation, and has fallen into a tradition based worship that seemingly lacks
intimacy, influence, and power. While the other side can at times, seem to be unorthodox,
potentially lacking order and reasoning. In discussing this topic, my hope is to accurately portray
both sides for what they are, and why I believe the church s that are found more on the relationship
principle align more with scripture s depiction of Christ s bride. The Merriam Webster dictionary
defines religionas the belief of a godor a group of gods while also stating that religion is an
organized system of beliefs, ceremonies, and rules to worship a god or a group of gods.[1]
When a group of people gather and base their worship off of things done in the past and base
their worship on a belief rather than a knowledge or understanding of the one true God, it
becomes legalistic and rigid, lacking in passion and devotion. This belief creates a going through
the motions attitude which results in a body of believers lacking power to change their own
behaviors while also creating the depiction of a loveless, lifeless, self centered church that is saved
based off of their rituals and church

The United Kingdom Of The European Union
On June 23rd, 2016 the United Kingdom held a referendum that would ultimately decide their
economic and global relationships with the European Union, along with the rest of the world.
Brexit, the highly known nickname of the phrase Britain exiting was vote to spate from their long
standing union with the European Union. As a 52% of the UK passed Brexit it began to start
controversy on whether they could or should operate by themselves. Immediately following that
day, the price of gold spiked up by four percent. Even before the vote, uncertainty had already
arose on the future of the European integration process if Brexit would to have been passed. As
the outcome stands today, a majority of the UK approved the detachment of the European Union
and would now begin to suffer blows to their economy in the short term, medium term and long
term. One such impact that came rather quick was the drop in stocks. The exchange rates were a
particular hit on large banks of the state. Though those two initial impacts recuperated in a week s
time, interest on government bonds 3 months or older conceived losses that would not be as easy
to recover from as argued by Fichtner, GroГџe Steffen, Hachula Schlaak (2016) evidence of this
can be found in the prices of credit default swaps (CDS) for gilts, which have sharply increased
compared to those of German government bonds (p, 302). Another prediction leads to believe that
government financing costs in particular are to rise in the medium

The Church Of New France
One of the many things the settlers of New France bought with them from France into North
America was religion. Historians have argued that the church played huge part in the lives of the
people in New France. Despite being far away from the leaders of the church and thus not
directly under their control, the church still played a role in the lives of the people of New
France. By the 1600s Jesuit missionaries had entered New France and started their attempts to
convert the First Nations people. As more settlers moved into New France it was more difficult for
the church to keep its status. They attempted with various methods to convert more First Nations
and keep the European settlers in the church. However, post 1663, after the creation of the Royal
Colony, the issues regarding religion and the issues it was causing did not decrease.
The primary source being used is a document by Annie Rollo Stagg titled The importance of
religion to woman . Secondary sources include the Role of the Church in New France , The
People of New France , Business and Religion in the Age of New France, 1600 1760: Twenty two
Studies , and First Establishment of the Faith in New France . I will argue that the church in post
1663 New France played an enormous part of the people residing there, especially women. The
church was not a place for people to worship but politically, socially and economically influenced
the post 1663 life in New France.
The Roman Catholic Church was the exclusive

  • 2. The Goals Of Disability Management Programs Work related injuries are prevalent and costly. Each year an estimated 270 million workplace accidents occur worldwide. The annual cost of these accidents is $1.25 trillion U.S dollars. Under the Canadian human rights legislation, employers have a duty to accommodate individuals as they return to work. Meaning those who are attempting to return to work following an injuryor illness via change in job task and or the work environment to enable workers with temporary or permanent disability to perform work productively. In light of financial and legislative realities, organizations develop disability management programs to prevent workplace injury and illness and to accommodate workers in a manner that facilitates early and safe return to work. The goals of disability management programs include promotion of safe workplace; coordinated programming in health, rehabilitation, and accommodation interventions. Disability management programs are most effective when developed and applied using a systems approach. A system approach emphasizes the work and organization context; for instance, the type of work and safety record of the organization, instead of focusing sold on individual employees. Research shows that workplaces with people focused workplace culture, positive safety attitudes, and articulated policies on disability management tend to report shorter absences, lower disability costs, and less frequent absences arising from workplace injury. Organizations heavily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Alice s Journey Down The Rabbit Hole Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll endures as one of the most iconic children s books of all time. It remains one of the most ambiguous texts to decipher as Alice s adventures in Wonderland have created endless critical debate as to whether we can deduce any true literary meaning, or moral implication from her journey down the rabbit hole. Alice s station as a seven year old Victorian child creates an interesting construct within the novel as she attempts to navigate this magical parallel plain, yet retain her Victorian sensibilities and learn from experience as she encounters new creatures and life lessons. Therefore, this essay will focus on the debate as to whether Alice is the imaginatively playful child envisaged by the Romantics, or a Victorian child whose imagination has been stunted by her education and upbringing. The earlier governing Puritan faith perceived childhood to be a perilous period, and believed children to be inherently sinful; consequential of the fall , which saw a widespread influential religious implication in literature of the time. Children s literature was therefore geared toward the instruction of children, concerned with providing role models to instruct their behaviour, and was preoccupied with the notion of saving the child s soul. In children s literature the notion and construct of childhood became an influential force...it became associated with freedom...and play; focusing on educating children malleablly. ... • 4. Health Disparities Of The American Indian Elderly Population Health disparities in the American Indian Elderly Population by Anabel Rotger The aim of this paper is to gain information and knowledge about health disparities. The objectives are to understand what is a disparity, to determine if in fact there are health disparities, to learn who are the target of disparities, to recognize how does a disparity affect the target, and most importantly to assess how can a disparity be eliminated. In addition, this paper will narrow its research to a specific minority: The American Indian elderly population. For this paper and hereinafter health disparity is defined as a particular type of health difference that is closely linked with social, economic, and/or environmental disadvantage. Health disparities adversely affect groups of people who have systematically experienced greater obstacles to health based on their racial or ethnic group; religion; socioeconomic status; gender; age; mental health; cognitive, sensory, or physical disability; sexual orientation or gender identity; geographic location; or other characteristics historically linked to discrimination or exclusion. Serve customers the best tasting food at a good value in a clean, comfortable restaurant, and they ll keep coming back. (thomas). Everyone can agree on Dave Thomas, but I have a couple more criteria to add to his idea of a great successful restaurant. If I go out to eat I might as well pick a place that, though may be expensive, has scrumptious food because why bother going to spend money on food you can make yourself? A great restaurant has to meet three of my criteria s: the DГ©cor and atmosphere, impeccable service and cleanliness, and most importantly the food. People that go there have a choice of where they prefer to be seated: The Japanese Garden Court, Koi room, Skyview room, Sunset room, pool bar, or the lounge. Each of these rooms has their own theme and particular view. The Japanese Garden Court is absolutely beautiful because the actual seating area wraps around a manicured Zen garden with a soothing waterfall and colorful Koi pond. Then this also leads to the Koi room a delicate ornately painted room that also has its own Koi pond and garden. The Skyview room is glass enclosed with vista prospect of Hollywood. I then head over to the sunset room, where you see the sun goes to sleep and the moon rises. The pool bar is breath taking because of its 800 year old Japanese Pagoda and newly renovated pool. The lounge is positioned so that every 400 of the seats can provide the best views of the city. As I was walking through these sections, I noticed the atmosphere changed my mood. When I was in the Japanese Garden court and Koi room, I felt a sense of romance. In the other rooms, particularly the Skyview room, I felt a sense of tranquility. Each space has its own particular ambience but all evoke a sense of opulent calm, a rare treat in hectic LA. At the end of my little tour, I decided to choose the Japanese Garden room. I just could not resist the Koi pond with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Slavitt Vs Hardy Title The Titanic was one of the largest ships that has ever been made. On its first voyage, the Titanic quickly ceased after encountering an iceberg. In the poem, Titanic , David R. Slavitt gives a brief description of the Titanic and how the world has remembered the legend. In a different poem, The Convergence of the Twain , Thomas Hardy illustrates the impact an Immanent Will had on the crashing of the Titanic. Both, Slavitt and Hardy challenge the views that people have on the legend of the Titanic by applying tone as well as creating a duality of expectations and reality. Through tone, the authors portray each way the Titanic should be identified by using effective word choice. Many lives were lost on the Titanic that day, but instead... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Slavitt correlates the Titanic to the world while Hardy challenges whether or not the crashing off the Titanic was choice or fate. Slavitt implies that the world becomes numb to death and tragedy by writing, And the world, shocked, mourns, as it ought to do and almost never does. When tragedies similar to the Titanic happen, people overlook and forget the events until another tragedy happens. With the improvement of communication through technology, news and events are shared at the speed of sound. Every few seconds bears a new tragic event; for instance, the lives lost in the Boston Massacre, the bar shooting in Orlando, and numerous school shootings fade into the chaos each day brings. Hardy previews the conception of the Titanic happening by choice or by fate. Hardy mentions, The Immanent Will that stirs and urges everything...A Shape of Ice, for the time far and dissociate, formulating that fate forced the Titanic to crash into the iceberg(18 21). Hardy signifies the crash happened because of the pride the architects acquired of their magnificent structure. This essay is written to compare the person centred and cognitive behavioural counselling by outlining both the theory and practice of understanding and working with fear and sadness. This will be done by outlining the theory of the counselling relationships and the theory in practice. Psychology is equipped with a wide variety of therapies, techniques and approaches based on different models and theories of human behaviour and development. When it comes to counselling, it is useful to be armed with a selection of tools, so that a counsellor s professional resource allows them to be flexible and to apply different techniques based on the individual problems and situational needs of each client. But when it comes to most of the counselling models that a practitioner decides to set as the foundation of their work, both client centred approaches and cognitive behavioural therapy are equally popular and widespread. Nevertheless, these theories have differences as similarities too. (180 words) The client centred model, also sometimes referred to as person centred, was developed by Carl Rogers around the middle of the twentieth century. Carl R. Rogers is known as the father of client centred therapy. Throughout his career, he dedicated himself to humanistic psychologyand is well known for his theory of personality development. The stones are mentioned five times near the beginning of the story and then five or six times more at the end. Why is their presence so important? What are the historical/biblical associations of stoning ? Do they apply in this situation? The importance of stones being mentioned so much is the author is trying to keep the reader informed that someone is going to get hurt or killed. Adding to that, the author never actually states what the stones are supposed to be used for, that kept in mind; the reader can come to a realization at the end of the story. The historical/biblical associations of stoning are when back in the old times, someone persecuted of a crime or a non believer of a religion would be stoned to death. These associations apply in this situation because that s what s happening but they do not make sense because the individual being stoned has not committed any wrongdoing to be persecuted. 6. • 15. Struggles Of A Black Man Struggles Of a Black Man Ballad of the Landlord is a poem by Langston Hughes that shows the struggles of a black man in a white society. There are opposing forces that make this black man suffer and he gets no retribution or any justice for the things that the people accuse him of. Through each of these voices the poem is thoroughly explained and can be analysed in such a way. The forces in this poem is the tenant, landlord, police, and the press. Each one of these forces shows the racial struggles of an innocent black man. The main person in the poem is the tenant, which in the last line tells us, he is black. The tenant is characterized by his slang and his strong dislike for the landlord. The tenant uses slang, contracted words, and nonstandard grammar. This non formal way of English suggests the tenant s separation from the world of convention, represented by the formal way of the police and the press, which appear later in the poem. Although the tenant speaks in a non formal way, do not let that fool you. The tenant s reason to be mad at the landlord is reasonable and just. He begins with a reasonable complaint and a gentle reminder that the complaint is already a week old: My roof has sprung a leak. / Don t you member I told you about it / Way last week? (lines 2 4). Given the appropriate environment, people tend to pick up a new language easily at a young age. Multilingualism doesn t require complete fluency in another language, or the ability to speak two unrelated languages. The benefits of multilingualism are so stupendous that they extend outside the area of language. Children and elders learning a foreign language have been demonstrated to be consistently better able to deal with distractions, like holding two languages concurrently without allowing words and grammar slip from one to another (Bialystok). Multilingual speakers also develop a greater vocabulary size over time (Kosmidis), a markedly better language proficiency in, sensitivity to, and understanding of their mother tongue (Johnson), and have a better ear for listening and sharper memories (Lapkin, Ratte). Furthermore, evidence has shown that skill in several languages fosters creativity and innovation: multilingual people are aware that problems can be tackled in different ways according to different linguistic and cultural backgrounds (European Commission). The Security Of The Usa Patriot Act Essay Although the main concern of this case had to do with Computin and protecting national security, Shelton can also technically be charged for possessing marijuana since it is illegal under federal law. Shelton does have substantial grounds on which he can move to suppress the evidence of marijuana against him; however, there is no guarantee that he will be successful in court. Anthropologists such as Bronislaw Malinowski and Annette Weiner have written extensive ethnographies detailing the patriarchal ruling structure and matrilineal descent style of Trobriand society. Different functionalist approaches to anthropologyhave attempted to give meaning to the complex Trobriand culture. Perhaps one of the greatest performances of Trobriand culture is in the case of death, which sets into motion a number of exchanges with layers of individual, social, and cultural meanings. In comparison to structural functionalism, this branch of functionalism focused on individuals and their specific human needs, and how institutions or customs could be shown as contributing to the culture as a whole. The tenets of pure functionalism can be best understood by analyzing the work of Bronislaw Malinowski. A pioneer for anthropological fieldwork, Malinowski lived in the Trobriand Islands for two years during WWI. Although he often struggled between being a person with the capacity for feeling and being someone who is rigorously objective and disciplined, Malinowski s fieldwork provided the first in depth analysis of Trobriand culture (Geertz, 1988, 79). During his study, Malinowski determined that there are seven basic human needs which include nutrition, reproduction, bodily comforts, safety, relaxation, movement, and growth (Langness, 1974, 98). He saw culture as the instrument through which these needs could be met. Like the historicalist Franz Boas, Malinowski placed an emphasis on the individual, yet always tried to correlate one set of activities with a cultural whole. It was with this mindset that Malinowski and other pure functionalists attempted to understand the culture of the Trobriand Islands. Although Malinowski went into depth on the Baloma spirit and its journey to the afterlife or Tuma, he did not explicitly cover death rituals in the Trobriand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, activities improve the overall student. Therefore, they help students to receive better grades by teaching them character building lessons, teaching them lifelong skills, saving some at risk students who would possibly drop out of school, and helping students develop social skills. However, no matter how many legal regulations are instituted, or protests are held, true equality has never been accessed, and will never be accessed until there are significant changes made to the ideology and mindset of the citizens of this country. Both Chris Chen and Christine Delphy who advocate for raceand genderequality respectively, are two authors who believe that these radical changes must be made to create equality in society. They each give similar yet different ways to alter the mindset of modern society. In her essay Rethinking Sex and Gender, Delphy states that in order to truly gain equality among the sexes, we have to eliminate the idea of gender altogether. On the other hand, in his essay The Limit Point of Capitalist Equality, Chen argues that to eliminate racial inequality we need to change our mindset and stop defining race as physical or cultural qualities that distinguish us, or thinking of it as a noun, and start thinking of race as the institutional roadblocks put in front of people of color, or as a verb. Both of these alterations can seem very drastic at face value, and would in fact be undesirable to many. In the times of slavery and later Jim Crow, the impact of racism on African Americans was clearly seen, with generational bondage and segregation respectively. In today s day and age, the impact of negative racial stereotypes on African Americans are no longer enumerated in law, but still just as significant. One of the most important racial determinants of socioeconomic standing has been the continuation of a system of pseudo segregation that keeps black populations separate from white populations, (Williams, 177). Concepts such as ghettoization and redlining represent holdovers from the former status quo of segregation that have been supported and justified by both personal and news stereotyping. Blacks being forced, through economic and educational disadvantage, to live in a certain area or being prevented from moving into specific neighborhoods cause self perpetuating cycles of inequality that keep blacks separate and unequal from their white counterparts. This can be clearly seen in the strong relationship that exists between a school being predominantly black and concentrated poverty, and the fact that an intensely segregated African America/and or Latino school is 14 times more likely to be a high poverty school than one that is less than 10% black or Latino, (Williams, 179). Unfortunately, maintenance of data requires valuable resources in storage and transmission, as even the presence of information in storage re quires some power. However, some of the largest files are those that are in formats re plete with repetition, and thus are larger than they need to be. The study of data compres sion is the science which attempts to advance toward methods that can be applied to data in order to make it take up less space. The uses for this are vast, and algorithms will need to be improved in order to sustain the inevitably larger files of the future. Thus, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chronicle of modern data compression begins in the late 1940 s with a method de signed by Claude Shannon and Robert Fano, logically named Shannon Fano coding. It takes the frequencies of the symbols in a file to represent the more recurrent ones using shorter coding. This was improved upon by one of Fano s students, David Huffman, into an optimal version, and has obsoleted Shannon Fano coding (except for historical pur poses). The next step up, arithmetic coding, is similar to, and even better than Huffman coding, but it requires more resources to implement. Also, it is burdened with patentship, one of the most adverse (in terms of adoption) properties of data compression algorithms. The same also applies to others such as LZW, MP3 and more obscure ones. LZW, standing for Lempel Ziv Welch, was developed by Terry Welch, and is still patented, and used in .gif and .pdf files. Mp3, developed by the German Fraunhofer Society in the 1990 s, is used for com pressing sounds by removing inaudible redundancy and frequencies. It is, however, a lossy compression algorithm, called so because it loses some information that is not es 1 sential in order to save a lot of space. • 28. Analysis Of Mcewan s Atonement By Ian Mcewan When it comes to the personal, uncontrollable misfortunes in life, there seems to be two main ways to handle it: either ignore it, or face it then and there. Ian McEwan s Atonement is a prime example of this struggle in dealing with traumatic situations. In Paper One, I stated that McEwan suggests the best way to deal with life s traumas is to face them head on rather than to completely ignore them. McEwan shows this through the mistakes Briony makes as her innocence misguides her into a divided relationship with her sister Cecilia. Similarly, Robbie faces the traumatic war experiences and separation from Cecilia which puts himself in a tense situation that he cannot entirely grapple. In both cases, it s apparent that facing traumas head on leads the characters to reflect upon their choices and overcome weaknesses. However, in Parts Two and Three, Briony s personal stories, interpretation of events, and reflection of her choices imply something else. I think it s clear that McEwan ultimately emphasizes that a better way to cope with trauma is to write about them in the form of stories. Doing so allows one to not only acknowledge the traumas, but also to move beyond it, control it, and lessen its severity. These beneficial effects can only be achieved through means of writing stories. Writing stories forces one to acknowledge one s trauma and eventually embrace it. Briony takes advantage of this during her nursing experiences which forces her to mature and become independent. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Relationships of 1.00 and +1.00 have strong respective positive or negative correlations. A relationship of zero identifies a weak relationship between the two variables being analyzed. Primary and Secondary Data Sources The retention of Wal Mart employees has been a problem. A quantitative correlational study to access job pay satisfaction, turnover intentions, and leadership styles will be discussed. The primary data consisted of questionnaire surveys. If required, informal interviews can be included. The primary data research was to determine whether satisfaction with supervisor or overall job pay satisfaction is more significantly related to turnover intentions. The primary data was coded for a quick analysis and was verifiable by re questioning. Secondary data was extracted from published statistics such as census, housing and social security data. Other secondary data was retrieved from similar industry models, internal databases, and library databases. The secondary data research was to recommend leadership styles associated with job satisfaction as a means to increase retention. Data was collected from a sample of employees using on line and paper and pencil questionnaires. However, the room is drowned in black light. Covered the surface of the walls as well as furniture were multiple color polka dots with fluorescent glow in the dark paint. The author once again made used of the distinct colorwhile manipulating lights, to create infinite pattern on a smooth color surface. The dots can be observed as floating in the air, while defying the space within the room and still defining it. Throughout the whole movie, it is a battle of who has power, who wants power, and who is the best leader for the circumstance. Mufasa, the king of Pride Rock at the beginning, and Sarabi, his wife, give birth to their son, Simba, who is next in line to become king. Scar, Mufasa s younger brother, is extremely upset that he will never be king and have power. Mufasa is the quintessential good leader. A perspective on ethical leadership known as servant leadership emphasizes that leaders should be concerned with their followers understand them; they should take care of them. There is a three step process to servant leadership: heart check, head check, and hand check. Simba definitely goes through these three steps as he is thinking about what he should do. Heart check is defined by questions such as: Am I called to leadership, rather than driven to it?, Is my main objective to be helpful or in control?, Do I have the best interest of those I lead at heart or am I my primary concern?, Will I gain satisfaction in watching the growth and development of those I lead? Clearly, Simba knew he was called to be king, and he felt it was his duty to help those within his kingdom. He wanted nothing more than to watch Pride Rock grow and transform back into the beautiful and harmonious place it was before Scar was in control. On the other hand, it was clear that Scar took an unethical approach to becoming king. His only concern was himself and obtaining control because he felt like he was owed power. Head check is defined by purpose, values, image, and goals. Simba realized his fundamental reason for existence was to take over his father s place when he died. His values, at first, were not aligned with his purpose, but after thinking he realized he needed to challenge Scar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Presently, we are in a hydrogeology unit and we have been researching global water crises around the world and the effects they have on people who inhabit those regions. I am writing this letter to address the issues of inadequate sanitation, untreated sewage in groundwater, and holy rivers being polluted due to a host of reasons. These problems are occurring in both rural and urban areas, and are affecting more than 80% of the Indian population who depend on water polluted with untreated sewage, nitrate, and agricultural runoff for basic survival needs, (The Huffington Post). As the leader of the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development Ganga Rejuvenation, I hope that some of the solutions outlined in this letter could be helpful to you in solving India s water crisis. • 43. We Wear The Mask By Paul Laurence Dunbar Shapeshifting requires the ability to transcend your attachments, in particular your ego attachments to identity and who you are. If you can get over your attachment to labeling yourself and your cherishing of your identity, you can be virtually anybody. You can slip in and out of different shells, even different animal forms or deity forms. Zeena Schreck, religious leader of the Sethian Liberation Movement. In the poem We Wear the Maskby Paul Laurence Dunbarthe reader should learn that individuals feel the need to wear a mask to change their personality into the more ideal individual which surpasses their confidence, fear, insecurities, and emotions. This poem develops the realities about self image and how it makes individuals act in society. Initially, the poem opens with We wear the mask that grins and lies, it hides our cheeks and shades our eyes (Dunbar, 1 2). The mask presents the truthful and untruthful sides of individuals. The mask is also a work of craftiness as it forces the individual to appear happy, regardless of the pain they may be feeling beneath the surface. Individuals that struggle with themselves wear a mask to show everyone else that they are not struggling and have everything figured out. Just like being in pain With torn and bleeding hearts we smile (Dunbar, 3). Individuals force smiles on their faces to portray to others that they are happy no matter whats going on in their life. However, this poem is also relevant to the Nobody ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Analysis Of The Book The Heidi Pirandellian Dark Comedy in Wendy Wasserstein s The Heidi Chronicles The main aim of this paper is to study Wendy Wasserstein s The Heidi Chronicles (1988) as a dark comedy in the light of Pirandello s definition of dark comedy. The line between tragedy and comedy is often thin and at times barely discernable. Certain playwrights have a gift for blurring this line, which allows audiences to receive their message without often knowing if they should be laughing at what appears to be a serious topic. Wendy Wasserstein(1950 2006) is one of the contemporary female playwrights who makes use of dark comedy. She is an excellent example of the genre dark comedy in the late twentieth century. She has won critical acclaim, Pulitzer Prizes and numerous additional awards for her writing. Wendy Wasserstein was the first woman in history to win the Pulitzer Prize as the author of an original play. In a 2001 Harper article on a new generation of women playwrights, the first sentence reads When you think of female playwrights, two words invariably come to mind: Wendy Wasserstein (334). Feminist Sally Burke writes that the feminist playwrights who began their work in the 1970s, even those who won Obie Awards, were virtually ignored except by scholars of feminist drama; this list includes Wasserstein (1). She is one of the most important playwrights of our time, yet her work lacks the critical and scholarly attention it deserves. Tragicomedy has been, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. The Disconnect Between The Church s Religion And Its... The false dichotomy that I have chosen to discuss is the current disconnect between the church s religion and its relationship with a concentration on its influence within a lost world. The disconnect between these two dichotomies seems to be that one side has become comfortable in their current state of salvation, and has fallen into a tradition based worship that seemingly lacks intimacy, influence, and power. While the other side can at times, seem to be unorthodox, potentially lacking order and reasoning. In discussing this topic, my hope is to accurately portray both sides for what they are, and why I believe the church s that are found more on the relationship principle align more with scripture s depiction of Christ s bride. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines religionas the belief of a godor a group of gods while also stating that religion is an organized system of beliefs, ceremonies, and rules to worship a god or a group of gods.[1] When a group of people gather and base their worship off of things done in the past and base their worship on a belief rather than a knowledge or understanding of the one true God, it becomes legalistic and rigid, lacking in passion and devotion. This belief creates a going through the motions attitude which results in a body of believers lacking power to change their own behaviors while also creating the depiction of a loveless, lifeless, self centered church that is saved based off of their rituals and church ... • 49. The United Kingdom Of The European Union On June 23rd, 2016 the United Kingdom held a referendum that would ultimately decide their economic and global relationships with the European Union, along with the rest of the world. Brexit, the highly known nickname of the phrase Britain exiting was vote to spate from their long standing union with the European Union. As a 52% of the UK passed Brexit it began to start controversy on whether they could or should operate by themselves. Immediately following that day, the price of gold spiked up by four percent. Even before the vote, uncertainty had already arose on the future of the European integration process if Brexit would to have been passed. As the outcome stands today, a majority of the UK approved the detachment of the European Union and would now begin to suffer blows to their economy in the short term, medium term and long term. One such impact that came rather quick was the drop in stocks. The exchange rates were a particular hit on large banks of the state. Though those two initial impacts recuperated in a week s time, interest on government bonds 3 months or older conceived losses that would not be as easy to recover from as argued by Fichtner, GroГџe Steffen, Hachula Schlaak (2016) evidence of this can be found in the prices of credit default swaps (CDS) for gilts, which have sharply increased compared to those of German government bonds (p, 302). • 50. The Church Of New France One of the many things the settlers of New France bought with them from France into North America was religion. Historians have argued that the church played huge part in the lives of the people in New France. Despite being far away from the leaders of the church and thus not directly under their control, the church still played a role in the lives of the people of New France. By the 1600s Jesuit missionaries had entered New France and started their attempts to convert the First Nations people. As more settlers moved into New France it was more difficult for the church to keep its status. They attempted with various methods to convert more First Nations and keep the European settlers in the church. However, post 1663, after the creation of the Royal Colony, the issues regarding religion and the issues it was causing did not decrease. The primary source being used is a document by Annie Rollo Stagg titled The importance of religion to woman . Secondary sources include the Role of the Church in New France , The People of New France , Business and Religion in the Age of New France, 1600 1760: Twenty two Studies , and First Establishment of the Faith in New France . I will argue that the church in post 1663 New France played an enormous part of the people residing there, especially women. The church was not a place for people to worship but politically, socially and economically influenced the post 1663 life in New France. The Roman Catholic Church was the exclusive ...
