Ethnical Values In American Culture
American ethnical values are built upon the respect for the dignity of every human life, the hunger for
discovery, the ability to maintain harmony with others and nature, establishing a government built for
the people, and ran by the people. These ethnical values have been the basis for American culture
since the beginning and they continue to make an impact and grow in today s society. The Iroquois
Indians had a very open and accepting democratic society that involved everyone, including the
women which wasn t very prevalent in culture at this time. Compared to the Puritan society which
didn t have strong leadership or a healthy working government, Puritan society also looked down
upon women. The Puritans saw other people as an inconvenience, ... Show more content on

The preachers would use the persuasive technique pathos on their audience to scare them. They
wanted to diminish the emotions of this heavily church going society. They wanted to induce fear
upon them so that they would feel obligated to do what is right in the Puritans eyes. All your
righteousness, would have no more influence to uphold you and keep you out of hell, than a spider s
web would have to stop a fallen rock , this shows how no matter what the Puritans do they will never
be good enough for God and therefore are damned to hell (Edwards 120). The Puritans would exile
anybody who disagreed or was different because they didn t want that to influence their culture. This
shows that the Puritans were a shallow people, who only cared for themselves and for their own good.
Women were treated more like objects in this society because all they were used for in the Puritan
society was making babies and cooking food. On the Iroquois side of things, their culture was built
upon respect, whether this was for the earth or for people. The Iroquois considered each lord in the
tribe family, this shows how the Iroquois embraces the value of family and how they treat everyone
with equality and respect. The Iroquois thrive on peace and unity within their society. The League of
Iroquois is a nation of 6 different Native American tribes, this shows how they were an excepting
people as long as they were treated with the same respect. The Iroquois involved the women greatly in
their society. The women had equal duties to the men and they elected the 50 peace chiefs which
headed the League of Iroquois. They had a stable democratic government, which highlights how the
Iroquois treated all people equally. The Puritans had a very enclosed society that was very self
centered. They also treated women with no respect and

Essay on Sociological Perspectives to Understand Society
WITH REFERENCE TO THE RANGE OF SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVES, EXPLAIN HOW
SOCIOLOGISTS ATTEMPT TO UNDERSTAND SOCIETY.
The main aim of sociology is to seek an understanding or explanation as to how society functions or
operates. There are numerous sociological theories, some dating back as early as the 19th century,
these include Structural and Marxist Functionalism and Social Action theories. Throughout the years
these perspectives have gradually been modernised due to the changes that have occurred in society.
In this assignment I shall be looking at the key theories of the more notable exponents of the different
sociological perspectives from pre industrialisation times to the modern age and their interpretation of
how society works.

Also he believed that society should be studied from a scientific objective. He argued that sociology
should be based on the methodology of natural science and claimed that this would result in positive
science of society. (Giddens 1997)
Talcott Parsons was an American sociologist whose main contribution was to add to the view of
society the notion that functional relationships within and between institutions contributed to harmony
in the system thus society involves at least a level of integration between the parts. Parsons stated that
the central value of the system of a society provides the basic glue that shapes and holds the society
together and therefore provides the base for integration. He continued in saying that members of
society share the same goals, thus persons may have different roles and perform different functions,
but once they all agree on the values that underpin the goal to be attained, they are likely to have equal
commitment to attain the common goal. (Baert, Carreira da Silva 2010) According to Parsons, society
is based on a value consensus, which is a set of agreed goals, values and roles that standardise and
determine behaviour. This value consensus is established and maintained within the institutions of
society. Society is therefore a system and has to meet certain

Policies in Relation to Abortion
Policies in Relation to Abortion Before and After the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court Case
New Mexico State University
Jennifer Walker
Abstract
The Roe versus Wade Supreme Court Case has had a huge impact on abortion laws in the United
States. Before 1973, abortions were illegal and criminal, with few exceptions. Overnight, the decision
in the case legalized first trimester abortions while leaving the specifications of the other trimesters up
to the states. This case has led to many debates over the value of life and when life begins whether at
conception, independence from mother, or first breath. All of these can be defined by religion, law, or
individual beliefs. Unfortunately, none of the policies before or after Roe versus Wade have ... Show

Though the number of abortions has definitely increased from after the Roe versus Wade case, this is
likely do to the reporting of abortions rather than the legality of the abortions. Ideological/Value
Perspective Both the value one places on life and the question of when life begins plays a huge role in
the debate over abortion. Though people who are not part of a religion or are not spiritual have their
own beliefs, much of the debate does come from a religious perspective. So when does human life
begin? Some believe it is the moment of conception, others at the time when the baby can live
independently from the mother, and still others believe it is when the baby takes his/her first breath.
This is important because depending on when a person believes a life is valuable or that a fetus
becomes a person, may make an impact on whether or not an individual is for or against abortion. As
stated earlier, religion plays a large role in a person s beliefs as well. According to Stephens, Jordens,
Kerridge, and Ankeny (2010), the Catholic and Lutheran religions believe life begins at conception
and that this life has to right to live. Some Catholics even believe abortion is homicide. For the Jewish
faith, conception is the beginning of life; however, the mother s already existing life is more important
than the fetus. If the mother s life is at risk, an abortion may be an option. In Islam, the

Chicago, Illinois is well known to be the home of many shootings, and other heinous crimes.
However, Chicago isn t always plagued by sadness, and bullets; it also has some amazing traits.
Chicago is made up of 234 square miles of dazzling buildings that look as though they go upwards for

of my senses into frenzy. From the smells of coffee that people are drinking, to the sounds of laughter,
and chittering teeth from people who didn t dress warmly enough. Seeing lovers hurriedly walking
hand in hand, trying to get out of the chilly weather, and the drip of the last night s rain as it slips from
the leaves, you can even taste the air, and how crisp it is. Though by late October and early November,
temperatures start to drop, and nights can be fairly brisk, I wouldn t mind. Personally I like the way

Chipotle Competitive Advantage
Industry Analysis Chipotle was an inventor of the fast casual segment of the restaurant industry. Fast
casual restaurants can be defined as being positioned somewhere between fast food restaurants and
casual dining restaurants, but offer value to its customers through quality food, quick service, and
unique upscale décor and ambiance, at a slightly higher price than fast food restaurants (Trefis Team,
2014). In recent years this segment has been producing significant gains in the restaurant industry.
Technomic s is reporting that sales in the fast casual segment have grown eleven percent, while the
number of units has increased by eight percent in 2013 (Trefis Team, 2014). Porter s Five Forces
Analysis was used to better understand the profit potential in the fast casual restaurant industry. First,
the competitive rivalry within the fast casual segment is rated as medium, because there is a growing
number of competitors, but really only one notable rival in Qdoba, with a similar menu and quick
service, but Chipotle is able to keep the competition at bay with its superb quality of food, so there are
not many competitors creating pricing pressures (Hu, Ma, Saleem, Sun, Zhang, 2013). ... Show more

Hitchcock s Film Adaptation Of The 39 Steps
The 39 Steps is a theatrical production based on John Buchan s 1915 novel and Alfred Hitchcock s
1935 film. Unlike the original source material, the production was designed for four actors to play
over a hundred characters in total. Overall, it was an incredibly successful performance which did not
fail to bring in a good story and laughs throughout.
The story is set in Britain during the 1930s and the stage production shows points to this in a few
ways. The most noticeable hints I found towards the time period was the costumes, which is what
tends to draw my eye a lot. Alfred Hitchcock s film adaptation of The 39 Steps was very much in the
film noir style. Black and white colour scheme, somewhat melodramatic acting, the whole lot. While
the theatre production is not completely in this style, it still makes some allusions towards Hitchcock s
film. For example, the acting is still very hammy and overdramatic (though not in a bad way by any
means) and the main protagonist does monologue about himself.
The production has only four actors to play all the characters, around ... Show more content on

In the article, it explains how incandescent light is produced. Incandescent light is produced when a

Discuss The Relationship Between Attitudes And Behaviour
The relationship between attitudes and behaviour is one of the most popular topics in social
psychology. We form attitudes from mainly our own personal experiences including influences from
other people. Fishbein and Ajzen (1975) agreed with the idea about how direct experience, form our
attitudes i.e. if you had a horrible time at the hospital getting a needle. Then you may develop a
negative attitude to all hospitals. Alhough the definition of attitudes can not be confirmed yet, this
essay uses the description in Hogg s and Vaughan s book (1995) that attitudes are a general feeling or
evaluation about persons, object or issue as well as a relatively enduring organization of beliefs,
feelings and behavioural tendencies towards socially significant objects, groups, evens or symbols .
This definition indicates that there is a close relationship between attitudes and behaviour.

Hernan Cortes Ransom Of The Ancient Aztecs
The ancient Aztecs lived thousands of years ago in what is now known today as Mexico, before their

Threats Of Cryptography And Steganography

security of our information transmitted through the internet. The unauthorized or illegal access of the

1.2 History of Steganography
The first use of steganography is reported by Herodotus, the so called father of history, who mentions
that in ancient Greek, hidden text was written on wax tablets. When Demeratus wanted to notify
Sparta that the king of Persia, Xerxes, intended to invade Greece, he wrote this message on a tablet
and covered it with wax. To recover the message the other people in Sparta simply had to scrape the
wax off the tablet [3].
1.3 Steganography
The basic concept is that it has a cover object that is used to cover the original message image, a host
object that is the message or main image which is to be transmitted and the steganography algorithm
to carry out the required object. The output is an image called stego image which has the message
image inside it, hidden. This stego image is then sent to the receiver where the receiver retrieves the
message image by applying the de steganography

should not be misconstrued as a joyous song. The bird is singing a prayer that it hopes to get

Military Planning For The First Time During World War II
Since the Cold War, scholars utilizing a military and state centric approach to the study of regime
security such as Paul Williams, Joseph Nye and Sean Lynn Jones, and Stephen Walt have made
significant contributions to the literature on security studies. While these authors present unique
viewpoints, they all tend share the perspective that major international conflict has been a key factor in
the development of this field. Stephen Walt pointed out that the idea of security studies first emerged
as a result of civilians becom[ing] extensively involved in military planning for the first time during
World War II. This surge in civilian interest during the war led to an era of security studies known as
the Golden Age during which Paul Williams indicated that civilian strategists enjoyed relatively close
connections with Western governments and their foreign and security policies. The enthusiasm for this
area of study was maintained for a substantial amount of time due to what Joseph Nye called the
unprecedented nature of security problems confronting the United States , which were mostly brought
about by the advent of the atomic age. Several forces however, would eventually counteract the uptick
in interest; principle among them was the negative perception of the Vietnam War. Walt highlighted
this idea stating the debacle in Indochina ... made the study of security affairs unfashionable in many

The Importance Of Beauty In Cinderella
Almost all of us have read Cinderella, a classic fairy tale that has changed and evolved over the years
and has even been made into a Blockbuster movie. Most of us have read the French version of
Cinderella, written by James Perrault, but when you read other versions and think deeper about the
stories, you might notice an oddity. In each story, the prince falls in love with a mysterious woman in
beautiful dresses or a beautiful shoe found in the middle of the forest without exchanging more than a
few words and sometimes even none. One might wonder about the true character of the prince who
falls in love with Cinderella s appearance instead of character. The stories talk of her beauty and

Fairy tales can affect someone s life deeply. According to Jason Young in How Fairy Tales Shape our
Lives , To some degree, many [people] live out these stories, largely unaware of how much the old
tales may be shaping our lives . With this mindset, a child may read Cinderella and grow up obsessed
with makeup or clothes thinking that it can result in she or he having a happily ever after without
realizing it. This thinking can be harmful to society, which is proven today with teenagers caring about
their weight or feeling depressed because of their looks or wealth. Today, there even is still prejudice
in favor of wealth or rank! There is proof of this in almost all Cinderella versions, even in stories
originating from Scotland or Portugal. Even in the Native American version, which encourages
honesty, there are still traces of prejudice in favor of beauty and rank. She was very beautiful and
gentle... they were jealous...so they treated her very cruelly. They clothed her in rags... and they cut off
her long black hair; and they burned her face with coals from the fire. , showing that the Native
Americans still cared about beauty and the archetype of rags symbolizing ugliness because they are
worn by the poor. In another variation, Katie Woodencloak , a princess runs away from her abusive

Shakespeare s Play, Othello, is More than a Tragedy
The audience can perceive Shakespeare s play Othello as just a tragic play of a jealous man in the
early 1600s thinking that his wife is cheating on him with another man. It could be just that, however
it could be something much deeper. Many argue that the main character Othello may have had a
Oedipal Complex. This is a psychoanalytical theory introduced by Sigmund Freud in 1899. It is the
idea that one has a desire for sexual involvement with the parent of the opposite sex and a sense of
rivalry with the parent of the same sex. The term is derived from a hero of a Greek legend named
Oedipus who unknowingly killed his father and married his mother. Connections can be made to this
complex through the relationship between Othello and his wife Desdemona. Throughout Shakespeare
s play Othello , the audience can take notice of the Oedipal complex in Othello by the handkerchief
being a reflection of his feeling for his mother.
The handkerchief patterned with strawberries given to Desdemona as a token of love explains Othello
s attachment to his mother. He tells Desdemona that it was given to him by his mother and it would
ensure the spouse s love when kept, but if lost, one would lose the love too. In the play, it seems as
though Othello becomes seriously obsessed with the item. The key here, however, is in the fact that
the handkerchief originally belonged to Othello s mother. He wants to keep the image of his mother
alive, and he does this by giving the handkerchief to

Correlation Between Alcohol And Alcohol
Results The amount of hours a person works a week is negatively correlated to an individual s
dependency to alcohol. The less hours a person works per week the more they will be dependent on
alcohol. On average, the individuals in the sample worked a low amount of hours a week (M = 11.31,
SD = 14.9) and had a moderately low dependency on alcohol (M = 31.11, SD = 14.26). In addition,
the confidence intervals looking at the amount of hours worked per week indicated that the
participants continued to work low hours (95% CI = [8.96, 13.83]). Along with, both the upper and
lower bounds of the alcohol decency score showing reaming consistent with a modestly low
dependency on alcohol (95% CI = [29.02, 33.58]).
When a Spearman s correlation analysis was used a negative correlation was found indicating that a
the less amount of hours a person worked a week the higher their dependency on alcohol is. This
correlation supported the hypotheses. A Spearman s correlation was used because thee out of the four
test for a normally distributed population were violated and the sample size was over 100. However,
the correlation was not significant rs = .114, n = 152, p = .08 (one tailed).
The amount of hours worked in a week had an extremely small effect on a person s dependency to
alcohol r2 = .01. This incredibly small effect size is consistent with the results of the significance test.
With the correlation having no significance then it is accurate to say that a person s work hours had

Teaching Sex Educational Subject at School Should Be Done...
Teaching sex educational subject at school should be done or not A review on philosophical and
educational perspective
Abstract
The issue of incorporating sex education in schools of Malaysia is still debatable. Some parents think
sex education in school is essential to Malaysian youths to reduce sexual related social problems.
While a greater section of people still believe that it is unnecessary to slot in sex education as a
separate subject in schools, as rudiments of sex education in schools are already included in a subject
called social and reproductive health studies. Though it has been introduced indirectly to Malaysian
Secondary School and Primary School few years back, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In Malaysia, the Cabinet ministry has permitted to introduce reproductive and social health education
in the school curriculum after years of consideration. 160 pages of guidelines were produced by
Ministries of Education and Women, Family and Community Development. The guidelines covered
varied topics related to sexuality which included topics like contraception, kind of touching that is
permitted, risks of online predators, teenage crushes, sexual orientation and HIV/AIDS.
Malaysia is at present moving more into a superior and more urbanized territory. Equivalent to
development and evolutions, several challenges should not be overlooked such as gap in family
relationships and separation as well as societal and environmental problems. Regrettably, children and
teenagers are among the most susceptible and exposed to these kind ill challenges and threats. The
subject and its impact on children and young folk are of main concern at present to the Malaysian
government such as increasing rate of HIV/AIDS , escalated reporting of sexual violence against
children and adolescents with sexual abuse, juvenile crimes and many more. In such a situation,
parents need to take part in their roles to furnish their children with sex education. Though, commonly
parents are rarely seen as sex educators of the children because they are unwilling to discuss sex
related topics with their children.

The Tax Rate And Private Savings Essay
Figure (7) may work as another evidence of the inability of Egyptian tax system to mobilize domestic
savings, as it shows that while domestic private savings, as a percent of GDP, was fluctuating around a
downward sloping trend, marginal tax rate was fluctuating around a relatively horizontal trend which
indicates that marginal tax rate has no or insignificant power over stimulating domestic private
savings.
Figure 7.Marginal Tax Rate and Private Domestic Savings to GDP Source: Author s calculations based
on data extracted from Ministry of Finance, Monthly Financial Report, different editions.
To verify this conclusion, the effect of main sources of tax revenue (taxes on income, taxes on
property, taxes on goods and services and tariff) on domestic savings will be examined statistically.
The only source of tax revenue that has statistically significant effect on domestic savings is property
tax. Tax on properties is negatively related to domestic savings with coefficient 12, see appendix (3).
Accordingly, small reduction in property taxes will have magnitude increase in domestic savings.
Thus, if financial markets are operating efficiently, tax cut on properties will have a considerable
positive effect on the process of economic growth, especially since property taxes represent only
3.6%, in average, of total tax revenue.
While domestic saving is a leakage of income that flows outside the economy; however, it can be re
injected in the economy again

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Multi Core Processor
Generally the CPU has fetch, decode, and execute operation. Most of today s multi core processors
feature shared caches. In shared caches the caches are splitted into blocks and are used randomly by
each core in a multi core processor. Because of this there is severe delay experienced by each core and
the processing speed is also reduced. This happens due to more time taken for read operation of
memory and CPU. The problem faced by such architectures is cache contention. So far the time
required for fetching is more when compared to the execution process. The fetching time must be
reduced. Hence to address this problem, we have implemented a program that allows the usage of
cache memory for each core of a processor at same time. In our concept, we execute all jobs of each ...

ADVANTAGES OF MULTI CORE PROCESSOR The maximum energy in the processing will be
visualized in developing the time while simulating the CPU processes like scanning of anti virus,
writing, reading, and burning the data. Thinking that the die is set into the package in a physical
manner, then the multiple core processor implementations will need very little space for PCB than the
multiple chip SMP implementation. Also, a two core processor utilizes very little amount of power
than the two strongly bonded single core processor, due to the reduced power needed to transmit the
signals outer material to the chip. XIII. EQUATIONS If we consider that the fetching and execution
process are on various blocks of cache then the quantity of the process being simulated is 1/n. also if it
is said that they are developed on the similar block of cache memory being executed is k/n, where k is

individual makes an inference when they conclude an argument by analyzing evidence and by

Case 2 is about a casual worker who has cerebral palsy (disability) and he was dismissed when he was
verbally abusive to a manager who was criticising his quality of work. As a Union representative, this
report outlines and addresses the role of union, the rights of the employees in this case, and the dispute
resolution process, which will include negotiation, mediation, conciliation and arbitration.
In this case, the rights of the casual worker were breached by his manager in the workplace and those
rights were Anti Discrimination and Unfair Dismissal which are considered as legal workplace rights
of employees. This report also addresses the ten minimum National Employment Standards which are
rights that are entitled to employees. This report also lists the rights of a Casual worker as the
employee is a Casual worker.
This report also addresses the dispute resolution process and different steps to solve a the dispute
between two parties. Those steps are known as Negotiation, Mediation, Conciliation and Arbitration.
Most of these steps require a third party who helps in offering advice or examining the dispute within
the workplace or making an agreement for two parties to agree on. There are some disadvantages in
the process of these steps and they can end up in a failure to resolve the dispute and if that happens,
then the two parties move onto the next step.

Causes Of The Nullification Crisis
Nullification Crisis
Nullification Crisis was a political crisis that happen back in 1812 to 1813 in the United States.
Andrew Jackson s vice president and a native of South Carolina, proposed the theory of nullification,
which declared the tariff unconstitutional and therefore unenforceable The Nullification Crisis created
tensions because they raised prices on manufactured goods, which benefited the domestic
manufacturing industry in the North but was bad for Southern slaveholders, who had to pay higher
prices for goods was a problem between South Carolina and the federal government. Sothern s said
that the Tariffs of 1832 were unconstitutional and therefore and they have to be annulated. The
Nullification Crisis happen because the United States had a bad moment in the economy since it went
down in the late 1820 s. They also feared that foreign countries would enact higher tariffs on raw
materials produced in the South. Moreover, because the British reduced their exports to the United
States in response to the tariff, they had less money to pay for US imports, especially cotton from the
South. The tariff of 1828 raised taxes on imported manufactures to reduce foreign competition with
American manufacturing. Southerners, argued that the tariff enhanced the interests of the Northern
manufacturing industry at their expense. In 1828, during the presidency of John Quincy Adams, the
first protective tariff was passed, the first legislation that included an even higher tariff,

The Use Of Light And Light In Cormac Mccarthy s The Road
The novel The Road is a tale filled with evil and darkness with nights dark beyond darkness and the
days more gray than what had gone before (McCarthy ). An unspecified apocalypse has razed the
world and nearly all of human civilization, leaving a desolate world for a man and his son to traverse.
In this gray, dull world there is little in the way of color or light to be seen. The sky has become gray,
and the sun has been obscured, reduced to a faint, dim light. In this dark, achromatic world the use of
color and light is reserved for objects and ideas of importance. Cormac McCarthy utilizes this scarcity
of light and color throughout the novel to provide contrast between the old world and new, and
between good and evil and to draw attention to important object and topics. The primary use of this
contrast between light and dark is the man and boy s metaphorical task to carry the fire. The man and
boy are stuck trudging day by day in a barren, scorched landscape of gray, endlessly foraging in
wasted buildings for food and supplies (Hage 140). Murderers, cannibals, and thieves roam the bleak
landscape, and evidence of their evils is witnessed at every turn of the pair s ill fated journey. The man
and boy are one of the few people still holding on to their humanity in this wasteland that demands
they abandon it in order to survive. The world that they inhabit is one of absolute darkness. This
darkness ecompases not only the physical darkness and inhospitidy of the landscape littered with
corpses, the sun blotted out, flora and fauna dead, [and] the seas poisoned, but also the moral
corruption that has engulfed humanity. In this expanse of darkness the man and boy are just an oddity.
Two of the last of the survivors carrying the fire and serving as a pocket of goodness in a corrupt
world. Additionally, the boy s role as this metaphorical fire serves an important role in the man s
ethical dilemma. The man has little desire to live in the world that he has been involuntarily thrown
into. Whereas the man s wife ultimately came to the conclusion that suicide was the only sane option
presented to them, the man is much more hesitant. After watching his life crumble around him the man
is left with a sole

  • 2. Ethnical Values In American Culture American ethnical values are built upon the respect for the dignity of every human life, the hunger for discovery, the ability to maintain harmony with others and nature, establishing a government built for the people, and ran by the people. These ethnical values have been the basis for American culture since the beginning and they continue to make an impact and grow in today s society. The Iroquois Indians had a very open and accepting democratic society that involved everyone, including the women which wasn t very prevalent in culture at this time. Compared to the Puritan society which didn t have strong leadership or a healthy working government, Puritan society also looked down upon women. The Puritans saw other people as an inconvenience, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The preachers would use the persuasive technique pathos on their audience to scare them. They wanted to diminish the emotions of this heavily church going society. They wanted to induce fear upon them so that they would feel obligated to do what is right in the Puritans eyes. All your righteousness, would have no more influence to uphold you and keep you out of hell, than a spider s web would have to stop a fallen rock , this shows how no matter what the Puritans do they will never be good enough for God and therefore are damned to hell (Edwards 120). The Puritans would exile anybody who disagreed or was different because they didn t want that to influence their culture. The Iroquois considered each lord in the tribe family, this shows how the Iroquois embraces the value of family and how they treat everyone with equality and respect. The Iroquois thrive on peace and unity within their society. The League of Iroquois is a nation of 6 different Native American tribes, this shows how they were an excepting people as long as they were treated with the same respect. The Iroquois involved the women greatly in their society. The women had equal duties to the men and they elected the 50 peace chiefs which headed the League of Iroquois. They had a stable democratic government, which highlights how the Iroquois treated all people equally. The Puritans had a very enclosed society that was very self centered. (Giddens 1997) Talcott Parsons was an American sociologist whose main contribution was to add to the view of society the notion that functional relationships within and between institutions contributed to harmony in the system thus society involves at least a level of integration between the parts. Parsons stated that the central value of the system of a society provides the basic glue that shapes and holds the society together and therefore provides the base for integration. He continued in saying that members of society share the same goals, thus persons may have different roles and perform different functions, but once they all agree on the values that underpin the goal to be attained, they are likely to have equal commitment to attain the common goal. (Baert, Carreira da Silva 2010) According to Parsons, society is based on a value consensus, which is a set of agreed goals, values and roles that standardise and determine behaviour. Overnight, the decision in the case legalized first trimester abortions while leaving the specifications of the other trimesters up to the states. Though the number of abortions has definitely increased from after the Roe versus Wade case, this is likely do to the reporting of abortions rather than the legality of the abortions. Ideological/Value Perspective Both the value one places on life and the question of when life begins plays a huge role in the debate over abortion. Though people who are not part of a religion or are not spiritual have their own beliefs, much of the debate does come from a religious perspective. So when does human life begin? Some believe it is the moment of conception, others at the time when the baby can live independently from the mother, and still others believe it is when the baby takes his/her first breath. This is important because depending on when a person believes a life is valuable or that a fetus becomes a person, may make an impact on whether or not an individual is for or against abortion. As stated earlier, religion plays a large role in a person s beliefs as well. According to Stephens, Jordens, Kerridge, and Ankeny (2010), the Catholic and Lutheran religions believe life begins at conception and that this life has to right to live. Some Catholics even believe abortion is homicide. For the Jewish faith, conception is the beginning of life; however, the mother s already existing life is more important than the fetus. If the mother s life is at risk, an abortion may be an option. In Islam, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Military Planning For The First Time During World War II Since the Cold War, scholars utilizing a military and state centric approach to the study of regime security such as Paul Williams, Joseph Nye and Sean Lynn Jones, and Stephen Walt have made significant contributions to the literature on security studies. While these authors present unique viewpoints, they all tend share the perspective that major international conflict has been a key factor in the development of this field. Stephen Walt pointed out that the idea of security studies first emerged as a result of civilians becom[ing] extensively involved in military planning for the first time during World War II. This surge in civilian interest during the war led to an era of security studies known as the Golden Age during which Paul Williams indicated that civilian strategists enjoyed relatively close connections with Western governments and their foreign and security policies. The enthusiasm for this area of study was maintained for a substantial amount of time due to what Joseph Nye called the unprecedented nature of security problems confronting the United States , which were mostly brought about by the advent of the atomic age. Shakespeare s Play, Othello, is More than a Tragedy The audience can perceive Shakespeare s play Othello as just a tragic play of a jealous man in the early 1600s thinking that his wife is cheating on him with another man. It could be just that, however it could be something much deeper. Many argue that the main character Othello may have had a Oedipal Complex. This is a psychoanalytical theory introduced by Sigmund Freud in 1899. It is the idea that one has a desire for sexual involvement with the parent of the opposite sex and a sense of rivalry with the parent of the same sex. The term is derived from a hero of a Greek legend named Oedipus who unknowingly killed his father and married his mother. Connections can be made to this complex through the relationship between Othello and his wife Desdemona. Throughout Shakespeare s play Othello , the audience can take notice of the Oedipal complex in Othello by the handkerchief being a reflection of his feeling for his mother. The handkerchief patterned with strawberries given to Desdemona as a token of love explains Othello s attachment to his mother. He tells Desdemona that it was given to him by his mother and it would ensure the spouse s love when kept, but if lost, one would lose the love too. • 26. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Multi Core Processor Generally the CPU has fetch, decode, and execute operation. Most of today s multi core processors feature shared caches. In shared caches the caches are splitted into blocks and are used randomly by each core in a multi core processor. Because of this there is severe delay experienced by each core and the processing speed is also reduced. This happens due to more time taken for read operation of memory and CPU. The problem faced by such architectures is cache contention. So far the time required for fetching is more when compared to the execution process. The fetching time must be reduced. Hence to address this problem, we have implemented a program that allows the usage of cache memory for each core of a processor at same time. In our concept, we execute all jobs of each ... ADVANTAGES OF MULTI CORE PROCESSOR The maximum energy in the processing will be visualized in developing the time while simulating the CPU processes like scanning of anti virus, writing, reading, and burning the data. Thinking that the die is set into the package in a physical manner, then the multiple core processor implementations will need very little space for PCB than the multiple chip SMP implementation. Also, a two core processor utilizes very little amount of power than the two strongly bonded single core processor, due to the reduced power needed to transmit the signals outer material to the chip. The tariff of 1828 raised taxes on imported manufactures to reduce foreign competition with American manufacturing. • 33. The Use Of Light And Light In Cormac Mccarthy s The Road The novel The Road is a tale filled with evil and darkness with nights dark beyond darkness and the days more gray than what had gone before (McCarthy ). An unspecified apocalypse has razed the world and nearly all of human civilization, leaving a desolate world for a man and his son to traverse. In this gray, dull world there is little in the way of color or light to be seen. The sky has become gray, and the sun has been obscured, reduced to a faint, dim light. In this dark, achromatic world the use of color and light is reserved for objects and ideas of importance. Cormac McCarthy utilizes this scarcity of light and color throughout the novel to provide contrast between the old world and new, and between good and evil and to draw attention to important object and topics. The primary use of this contrast between light and dark is the man and boy s metaphorical task to carry the fire. The man and boy are stuck trudging day by day in a barren, scorched landscape of gray, endlessly foraging in wasted buildings for food and supplies (Hage 140). Murderers, cannibals, and thieves roam the bleak landscape, and evidence of their evils is witnessed at every turn of the pair s ill fated journey. The man and boy are one of the few people still holding on to their humanity in this wasteland that demands they abandon it in order to survive. The world that they inhabit is one of absolute darkness. This darkness ecompases not only the physical darkness and inhospitidy of the landscape littered with corpses, the sun blotted out, flora and fauna dead, [and] the seas poisoned, but also the moral corruption that has engulfed humanity. In this expanse of darkness the man and boy are just an oddity. Two of the last of the survivors carrying the fire and serving as a pocket of goodness in a corrupt world. Additionally, the boy s role as this metaphorical fire serves an important role in the man s ethical dilemma. The man has little desire to live in the world that he has been involuntarily thrown into. Whereas the man s wife ultimately came to the conclusion that suicide was the only sane option presented to them, the man is much more hesitant. After watching his life crumble around him the man is left with a sole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
