Should Kids Be Allowed To Particepate In Extreme Sports
Children can be imaginative through particepation in extreme sports. Thus, such activities can
allow children to learn from their creative ideas. In other words, kids should be allowed to
particepate in extreme sports because it can keep their mind and body healthy. In the article,
Should Kids Do Extreme Sports? by Lauren Tarshis, it states, extreme sports can build confidence
and disicipline, and like any sport, help kids stay fit and healthy . This shows that exteme sports
can help build self confidence in kids, while keeping them in shape. In other words, growth of self

The Political Ideology That Best Represents My Views
The political ideology that best represents my views is liberalism. Liberalism is an ideology that
emphasizes, cultural diversity, government programs for the needy, public intervention in the
economy, and individuals rights to a lifestyle based on their own social and moral positions
(Morone Kersh, 2014, p. 37). In other words, liberalismpromotes government assistance for
individuals in need as well as protect every individual s rights.
One aspect of my life that has shaped my political views is my religious background. I grew up in a
Baptist family, and used to go to church regularly. As I got older, I started going to church less
and less because the things my pastor said made me feel very uncomfortable. At the time, I did not
understand why I felt so uncomfortable and it was not until I got older that I realized why I felt the
way I did. Majority of the time, my pastor said things that had sexist and homophobic undertones.
Despite being in a holy place, I spent the duration of my time as a member of the church feeling
disconnected from everything, which eventually led to me breaking ties with the church completely.
My family s financial background also helped in shaping my views. When I was younger, my
family received financial assistance from the government in the form of CHIPs and food stamps.
I was too young to remember how food stamps benefited my family, but I do remember the many
ways in which CHIPs helped us out. For example, I grew up having terrible

Identifiable Sick Role
Methodology
During the interaction between doctors and patients with medical situations, the identifiable sick
role is described as a social process. Doctors use usual biomedical diagnostic techniques but
depend also on their personal experience, logic and opinion in checking if the patient is
legitimately sick. So therefore legitimacy of illness is often strictly based on a doctor.
Many people report pain in the body that cannot be diagnosed by medical doctors. These reports
of unknown illness questions credibility of doctors and ultimately if the patient is legitimately
sick. These illnesses are called termed M medically U unexplained S symptoms. The following
study which was done in Denmark gives a view about modern day sociological ... Show more

Is sick role still relevant in modern times?
Data showed that if a person was categorised as Sick Role then they could be granted sick leave,
social grant and compensation. Illnesses that affected people were not constraint to a specific
period of time but rather affected almost everyone at some point in their lives. It is inevitable that
people would be sick and as such the sick role was found to still have relevance today, for it is
inevitable that it would be implemented.
Conclusion
The ultimate gatekeeper of sick role would be the doctor. They provide the necessary establishment
of social control or play the role of an ethical care giver in society, using their authority to
differentiate between normality and deviance in social systems. Therefore preserving social order
is the foundation of functionalists postulates on the specifics of illness and medical circumstance,
with medicine being the essential mechanism to govern the possibly disturbing manifestations of

Egyptian Devil Case Study
Low Genetic Diversity and its Contribution to DFTD
A carnivorous marsupial, the Tasmanian Devil, has been suffering greatly from DFTD (devil facial
tumor disease) but why the population has been so susceptible to DFTD is another question.
Tasmanian devils have low genetic diversity, and this factor contributes to why DFTD is so
immensely affecting this population. The Tasmanian Devils low genetic may have been caused by
the widespread killing of the marsupial by bounty hunters, leaving the species with descendants
from the same small population. This resulting low genetic diversity from not having a very
diverse selection of mates leads to small variation in the genes for their immune systems, which
may contribute to the rapid spread of

Pride And Prejudice Predicting The Future Of Women Essay
Myracle Tyson
Ms. Faris
Honors English IV
29 May 2015
Pride and Prejudice: Predicting the future of the Modern Woman. Women are complex and difficult
beings that may, or may not, be meant to be fully understood by the brain of their male
counterparts. In terms of independence women rightfully deserve their own apart from men,
needing the privacy to freely think and judge things on their own. An overbearing male can destroy
the female thoughts with the influence of their own independent thoughts. Women were made
different, but not as different, from men for a purpose although people have differentiating
reasons of their own opinions. Although women were not always bold enough to speak or even
think about how they deserved independence and privacy from men, the notion was always there,
even in women who lived hundreds of years ago. In Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice the main
character, Elizabeth Bennet, embodies what was to become of most modern day women, seeking
the privacy from men to obtain her own form of independence and free will. Her constant rejection
of being publicly open towards males gives her the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sacred Places Research Paper
The archives found in the area depicts that the people of the Ur district worshiped many Gods.
However, it can be deduced that the major God that the people of Ur worshiped was the Nanna
or the Moon God. As mentioned above, the city of Ur was divided into two areas, namely,
common district and the sacred place. The sacred place has a large monument or massive
brickwork which is called the temple of Sinor the godof the moon. This monument was erected by
the king of Ur about 4000 years ago. The temple was made in a series of platforms, one platform
on top of another. The people of Ur assumed that the God lived at the third platform. In the common
district, there were a large number of marketplaces, schools, libraries, homes and conveniences....

In this massive destruction, a large number of inhabitants ran away, and several buildings were
destructed. Therefore, there is evidence available regarding the living of the people in the
traditional Ur city. The archaeologists have used the little information from which the plans of
streets, houses and shops have been drawn. The artifacts and the archeological findings show
that in a typical townhouse, street door opened into a small lobby. The entrance of the house
contained a jar of water which is provided to the arriving people to wash their feet. On another
side of the lobby, there is another courtyard. Surrounding the courtyard were various rooms like
store rooms, lavatory and kitchen. The kitchen includes a table built with brick, grinding stones
and oven for cooking. The people in the ancient city also used pots and pan for cooking. The
typical houses in Ur city contained a long room in the center called reception room. The modern
Arab houses also follow the same pattern. In addition to it, the houses of Ur had a well constructed
staircase at the other side of the house courtyard. Generally, the houses do not have an upper floor;
however, there is evidence that implies that the houses have one or more upper rooms. The houses
in the Ur city also contained the domestic chapel, altar and the family burial vault (Nelson,

To model radioactive decay and half life
HYPOTHESIS
The trend will mimic the pattern of the half life of a radioactive material, with the same
approximate curve, because the M Ms with m showing will be approximately half of the total M
Ms at every half life, which is the same as decaying radioisotopes, with half the atoms disappearing
every half life.
MATERIALS
A packet of M Ms
A clean sheet of paper (A4)
A clean jar/cupcake cup
PROCEDURE
1.Copy the table from the criteria sheet into your workbook
2.Count the total number of M Ms in the container
3.Shake up the container to mix the M Ms around
4.Pour the container onto the clean sheet of paper
5.Count how many M Ms show the letter m facing upwards
6.Record this number in the table
7.Place only the M Ms showing the letter m back into the jar and dispose of the other M Ms
appropriately
8.Repeat steps 3 7 until there are no M Ms left

beta being an electron and gamma being the release of energy at the speed of life known as
gamma rays). In this experiment, the M Ms without m represent the decaying atoms, which are
launching themselves out to become more stable, and the repeats are the half lives, the M Ms
showing m are the atoms that are still in the element. Every period of time, 29.1 years, ВЅ the

Communist Leaders of the 20th Century
Vladimir Lenin, Ho Chi Minh and Moa Zedong were all leaders who were visionaries and
revolutionaries who changed the world. They used communist ideals and propaganda to engage
peasants and the working class to fight for freedom and to preserve their cultural values. Each
leader and his followers successfully changed the economic and political structure of their countries
as well as influencing the rest of the world for decades to come.

Driven by oppression and exploitation of the working classes, he was totally dedicated to the cause,
even ending friendships that obstructed the movement s progress. He masterminded the Bolshevik
takeover of power in Russia in 1917, known as the October Revolution.
Situational Events
During the First World War, Russia was suffering and in chaos and Lenin took his chance to
overthrow the provisional government and founded the first Socialist state in the world. In power
the Bolshevik Party became known as the Communist Party and the realities of governing such a
huge and diverse country, brought to its knees by war, famine and disease, quickly displaced the
aspirations and optimism of the people s revolution. Certainly, Lenin was intelligent, enthusiastic,
and a strong willed person. However, possession of the all those traits does not necessarily explain
the phenomena of being an effective leader. At the same time, the situational factors are very
important considerations that influence success or failure. Situational influences play crucial role
in leadership success. There were many critical situational factors that had an effect on the
revolutionary process in October 1917.

Comparison of: Political History and Development of Nursing Education between China and Poland
Chinese modern nursing started its evolution in the 1888 when the first formal hospital was opened

numerous western initiatives from the missionary in the 19 century. Particularly, nursing schools
and missionary hospitals, this comprised of 32% of the complete nursing population in the country.
The American influence was profound since it was one of the principal in the region doing major
investments. Individual teachers and nursing professional were the key players in the realization of
the early modernization of nursing in the country. Foundations from America set up medical
facilities facilitating the increase in the spread of nursing in the country. Chinese modern nursing
edification saw an early start compared to the other countries. Politically the government of China
faced a period of nursing halt after the abolishment of the practice. When the government that
abolished the practice collapsed in 1977, the practice came back to normal but left a gap of 30
years deficit in practice and development of the nursing profession. Therefore, China s nursing
practice was significantly influenced by the political climate particularly the revolution. Ireland on
the other hand was the last developed country to incorporate nursing into the university. The

In the short story the The Necklace the setting takes place in Paris, in the Loisel s apartment and

with Mme.Loisel and her emotional torture and how she thinks she is better than middle class.
Another conflict in the story would be between Mme.Loisel and M.Loisel, both with different
values, M.Loisel being happy with his life and Mme.Loisel wanting to be filthy rich. The theme
of this story is the theme of pride; Mme.Loisel s pride leads her to want more and more. One day

Different Types Of Wines By Ernest Hemingway Essay
Ernest Hemingway once said, Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the
most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a
greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing. More
simply and literally put, wineis an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented juice of grapes.
Wine making and drinking dates to thousands and thousands of years ago. In fact, the earliest
record of vinification, or wine making, is placed in the Bible in Genesis 9:20 21 where it states
that Noah planted a vineyard and drank wine produced from it around 4100 B.C. Over the years,
people have experimented making different types of wines with different kinds of grapes, which
have been split into 4 categories. These categories are Wild Vine, Indistinct Vitis Vinifera,
Distinct Vitis Vinifera and Hybrids. These different types of wines have been divided into 5
different classifications which are Table Wine, Sparkling Wine, Dessert Wine, Fortified Wine and
Aromatized Wine. Concurrently, these different wines are made in several different locations
around the world. The top producing wine country is Italy with the United States falling not too
far behind in 4th place. The wine that I will be focusing on in this paper is Syrah while the
location is Santa Barbara, California. I will also speak about Syrah in relation to Santa Barbara and
its significance on the region.

The play a streetcar named desire written by an american playwright Tennessee Williams in 1984

After opening the first page of the play and being dragged inside the story, the readers are shown

This approach takes more time, and often the learner must set aside several hours of study time
in order to fully grasp what is expected of her (VARK 2012). Comparatively, a read and write
score of four was too low of a score to be considered as a bi modality asset, and was mildly
suggestive of mediocre success at the collegiate level. Kinesthetic learners must translate into the
read and write mode. The author is in disagreement with this concept. She believes that the read
and write mode is a dominant learning preference as well. Current study techniques include note
taking, extra reading, and composing discussion question responses for class. A score of three in
the aural category states a potential disadvantage for learning, especially at the university level as
this technique is widely used in Western education. This result is less worrisome, because the
author is involved in an online learning environment, which has little emphasis on the aural
modality. A score of zero in the visual category carries a strong recommendation to avoid that mode
of learning. This analysis is also incorrect as the author utilizes underlining, highlighters, and
symbols as learning aides when studying (VARK 2012). The VARK Personal Learning Profile
concludes the author s greatest weakness is visual learning. This is where study habits must be
revised and changed to meet current academic needs. Grand Canyon University

the steps that were taken in the ERP activities. Which were done well and which could be
improved? The dispatcher assignment the fact that Whirlpool will consolidated 22 field offices

Pricing no wonder it takes 110 days to reprice its entire product line, when you are trying to

The Theories Of The Theory Of Evolution
Eighty seven percent of American scientists believe that a series of random chemical and
biological events produced mankind. However, the philosophical theory of evolution has no solid
evidence, whereas creation can be proven. Science is supposed to be based on observation, right?
The best theories satisfy the test of experimentation. No one can test if evolutionhappened. Non one
can prove that evolution actually happened. But what evidence can we place against evolution?
In 1859, Charles Darwin published On the Origin of Species, introducing the theory of evolution.
One hundred and fifty six years later, scientists still accept this senseless philosophy. House
Majority Leader Tom DeLay states, Our school systems teach the children that they are nothing
but glorified apes who are evolutionized out of some primordial soup (Snyder). Schools
worldwide have presented exactly this to the young, impressionable minds of your future doctors,
engineers, scientists, and presidents. They assure us that if we give a small amount of mud
enough time it can, by itself, bring about the art of da Vinci, the plays of Shakespeare, the music
of Mozart, and the brilliant mind of Einstein. I would like you to take just a moment and think
about this: For the smallest free living thing to duplicate itself would need 239 separate protein
molecules, each of which require at least 410 amino acids. The probability that the first protein

Bowling For Columbine Film Analysis
Bowling For Columbine is a documentary that was produced by Michael Moore which focusses
primarily on the relationship between the crime rates throughout various regions. After learning
that Canada and the United States had a very similar ratio when it came to households and guns,
Michael was intrigued that Canada had a substantially lower rate of gun related crimes. This
documentary became a tool for Michael to delve into the questions that were raised; although he
was unable to extract a specific answer as to why Canada had a lower rate of gun related crime, he
was still able to create some life altering changes. Michael found two individuals who had been
students at Columbine during the harrowing shooting. They were still struggling in

Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
Question: In what ways did Jews resist Nazi oppression during the Holocaust?
Goodmorning today i am going to talking about the Jewish resistance in the Warsaw Ghetto.
During 1941 to 1945 Jewish men, women and children were specifically targeted and murdered.
Adolf Hitler believed that the Jews were inferior, he wanted them to be killed until extinction. This
was the beginning of the holocaust.
Jews were forced out of there homes and were segregated into small areas called Ghettos. This
was just one step closer to the final solution. The Ghettos were purposely made to dehumanize
Jews and make them believe that they were inferior to the German population. The Jews had to

The largest uprising that occurred was in the warsaw ghetto in occupied poland. On the 22nd of
July 1942, thousands of Jews were being deported from the Warsaw Ghetto and sent to
extermination camps. This is what led to the uprising.
January 18, 1943, a group of Jews attacked German soldiers who were rounding up people for
deportation. This attacked encouraged many of the Jewish people living in Warsaw Ghetto to start
an uprising.
The jews created homemade explosives and weapons. They also built bunkers underneath the
Ghetto to help them plan their attacks as well as store their weapons. In april 1943, the Jewish
people learnt of new information about how the soldiers were sending everyone left in the warsaw
Ghetto to death camps. After hearing this, the largest resistance group in the Ghetto, the jewish
fighting organisation, alerted all Jews to hid in the bunkers. On April 19, German soldiers
marched in the Ghetto with tanks to gather up all the Jews that were left and to deport them. At 4

Sex And Gender And Deviant Behavior
There is significant value in continuing research sex and gender differences in psychology, as
substantial differences in particular psychological processes exist. Perhaps the most impactful area
that psychologists can continue to study sex and gender differences is in psychopathologies and
deviant behavior. This is for two reasons: because significant sexand genderdifferences exist in the
manifestation, diagnosis, and treatment of certain psychopathologies and deviant behavior; and
that this category has widespread and significant impacts on society. The study of
psychopathologies through a sex differential lens can vastly change the way in which they are
understood, diagnosed and treated. As gender and sex differences can be overstated, leading to
misconceptions, psychologists must find a balance between searching for differences and
recognizing that the wide overlap that exists between men and women, males and females.
Investing psychopathologies and deviant behavior without keeping this in mind does a disservice to
individuals and society alike.
Background
As asserted by Klinge (2011, p.18), the 1980 s saw a shift in medicine as the study of sex and
gender rose in prominence, and the male norm in medicine was largely abandoned. With that said
though, for the remainder of the 1980 s and into the mid 1990 s women were still excluded from
biomedical research in the United States (Klinge 2011, p.16). Leading the charge against the non

Breastfeeding is one of the best methods for providing infants with a healthy start to life. Breast
milk helps the body fight off various bacteria and viruses that one s child might be at risk for
catching. Breastfed babies are thirty six percent less likely to die from sudden infant death
syndrome and are fifty five percent likely to become obese later in life, compared to babies who

Target Description
This law is a federal law, so I would want to reach out to the federal legislator Joe Donnelley.
Defining the Problem/ Assemble the Evidence
This law was intended to help new mothers, but there are still gaps in this law. Some issues come
from accessibility, coverage, and support. The Affordable Care Act requires employers to provide
mothers that are breastfeeding with a reasonable time and a space to express their milk.
Unfortunately, only forty percent of women returned to work with these accommodations. I believe
this is an issue because forty percent is an extremely small number and if this is a law, then that
mean that various employers are not giving nursing mothers the accommodation that they are
supposed to have. Women are also facing challenges with getting lactation support for no expense,
which is supposed to be covered under their insurance. Why pass a law to help nursing mothers if
there are no records of mothers having access to it? It is important for most mothers that their child
is healthy and it is not fair to tell them they have access to something that employers aren t giving
them. Only six states have passed laws expanding workplace breastfeeding accommodations to
additional employees or extending requirements for employers. I believe that extending the
requirements for employers to make sure nursing mothers are getting the time and the place is
extremely important because it makes

Homosexuality is defined as forming sexual relationships with members of the same sex (Blonna et
al 2010), and for decades now, the societal attitudes towards homosexuality have varied, from casual
integration through acceptance and then to repressing it through law enforcement and judicial
mechanisms (Gregory 2004).. In recent years the concept of homosexuality has become a
controversial topic amongst the sports community. Since the 1920 s Homosexual athletes have

The consequences of men having more power than women, in the sports world, has led to
stereotyped gender roles and stereotypes related to gay and lesbian athletes. Gays are considered
to be failures of the heterosexual image of man and therefore being gay is considered weak and is
not tolerated amongst athletes. On the other hand the being a lesbian or tomboy is more socially
acceptable amongst sports culture (Joseph 1995). A few examples of female athletes who have
publicly stated their sexual orientation are, tennis legend Marina Navratilova, who competed in
2004, years after coming out, and Megan Rapinoe, an American soccer player, took part in the 2012
Olympic games (Zeigler, 2014). Karen Hultzer publicly came out during the London Games; she

King Kong Comparison
The original King Kong (1933) was fairly different from the new 2005 version. In the new
version, Kong was much more humanized. For example, in the end when Kong falls off of the
building and dies, it is heartbreaking. But in the original, there is a sense of relief when Kong
finally dies, after terrorizing New York City and especially Ann. Kong and Ann share a more
profound bond in the newer film. That is shown when Kong is finished fighting the three
Tyrannosaurus Rex, she willfully goes with him, after he saves her. Also, towards the end you see
Kong and Ann having fun playing on the ice back in New York. Ann wasn t afraid of Kong in the
remake. One of the biggest differences between the 2005 and the 1933 versions were the characters.
Ann, in the newer King Kongmovie, had much more character. We were able to see the back story
of her dancing career and how talented she was. Also, Carl Denhamwas vastly different. In the
original movie he was depicted as this great movie maker, but in the newer movie he is
characterized as a sleazy guy; overall, he isn t a very good person. For example, he trapped Driscoll
on the boat after he refused to write the rest of the script before they left. Jack Driscoll, in the 2005

One of the biggest similarities were the scenes at the very end when Kong was on the top of the

Negligence Essay
Negligence is used in tort in order to provide a remedy for those who have suffered any loss or
injury, due to a defendant s actions. If a defendant had a duty of care towards the claimant, then
a remedy can be enforced to cover for any losses. Factual causation in negligence establishes
whether it was the defendant in fact who caused the harm, in order to determine the factual
causation, the but for test is used. The but for test includes asking the question of but for the
defendant s carelessness, would the claimant have escaped harm? The factual causation would
be determined if the answer is yes , as harm would have not occurred if the defendant did not
breach the duty of care. If the answer is no then the defendant would not be held liable. The but

advantage of the but for test is that it allows the defendant to take full liability, if their actions were

The Meaning Of Life
Mehkya Wilcox
Everyone, in some form or fashion, has a desire to understand and question the purpose and
meaning of their life. In fact, it s important for people to understand the true meaning of the
purpose they have in life so that they may live well here on Earth. Philosophers, such as Socrates,
Aristotle, and Confucius began to question the life of a human being and what it meant to be a
human being. Each of these philosophers has their own philosophy or worldview of the best life a
human being can live, with the concept of having wisdom and virtue being the key components. In
fact, each of these philosophers expresses the importance of having a life full of wisdom and
virtue based off what they describe as the best life for a human being.
Socrates, according the Apology, describes the best life for a human being is to live the
examined life by having a care for the soul . Basically, he believes that people should examine
their lives by asking questions and effectively prove it be true and know it for themselves rather
than to rely on someone else s word for it to be right or true. Essentially, this is the very thing
that Socrates discovered about the meaning of wisdom as he attempts to solve the Delphic riddle
that no one is wiser than Socrates. He discovered that the people who claimed to be wise, such as
the politicians, poets and artisans were not really wise; they just appeared to be. In fact, he
discovered that even he was not wise and there are still some

The importance of protecting the safety of the public and most importantly, the children is a lot
higher than the offenders right to privacy. According to a study done by Expert Law, the biggest
raised concern is the fear of vigilantism. That is, law enforcement undertaken without legal
authority by a self appointed group of people. The fear was if neighbors learned about a sex offender
s presence in their neighborhood and decided to force them out or cause physical harm, which is
illegal. Violent acts against offenders are uncommon.
Megan s Law comes with the disadvantage that it discourages many sex offenders from
participating in the registry due to the fear factor of them being attacked or looked at differently in
their neighborhood. Even though it is a felony offense to fail to register on Megan s Law, around

South Africa is a located at the very bottom of the continent of Africa. It is surrounded on three

impacted the development of the country has been the issue of disease and the mortality rate of

more in the sanitation of the available water resources. This issue has been in progress of being
improved but is lagging behind due to the decolonization of the country. During negotiations with

A Research On Mobile Gis Applications
Mobile GIS Applications Generally, spatial information has been taken to the field utilizing
paper maps, frequently as guide books. Information gathered with a guide book in the field is
outlined on top of the paper guide utilizing pen or pencil and after that went into a GIS or CAD
framework when the field worker comes back to the workplace. Field reviews are frequently
done utilizing reporting forms that are taken to the field on paper, rounded out on a clipboard and
afterward went into a database upon come back to the workplace. The re section of information

Belly Fat Research Paper
The Risks of Belly Fat
The accumulation of belly fat is far more than an aesthetic issue. There are a number of health
risks that are directly associated with the accumulation of belly fat. According to the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, obesity has reached epidemic levels, with more than a third of the
nation s population qualifying as obese. To exacerbate the matter, the obesity rate among minors is
at 17 percent, which is triple what it was in the 1960s. While reducing all fat is important, it is
important to understand that all fat is not created equal. There is one type of fat that is considerably
more dangerous than others.

Hidden Health Risks
According to WebMD, the fact that visceral fat originates in the orifices within the body, the
absence of a substantial amount of visible fat can give a person a false sense of security as far as
their health is concerned. What makes this even scarier is the fact that by the time a person
recognizes that they have belly fat, it will have been accumulating for some time.
Assessing the risk is actually rather simple. Even if belly fat is not visible, its presence will
cause the waist to expand. Health experts suggest that the easiest method for assessing risk is to
use a tape measure to measure the waist the larger the number the greater the risk. For women, a
waist measure of 35 inches or more is cause for concern, while a 40 inch waist for men should send
up a red flag.
In addition to heart disease and insulin resistance, the existence of visceral or belly fat include a
higher risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, colorectal cancer and sleep

A Short Note On Failure And Emergency Department
Congestive heart failure (CHF) as a disease which nearly five million Americans suffer from and
this number is expected to double in prevalence by the year 2030. CHF is the most common reason
for hospitalization and emergency department (ED) visits by those 65 years and older in the United
States (American Heart Association, 2002). Horowitz, Rein, and Leventhal (2004) wanted to
conduct researchon problems with self managing CHF and whether patient had the adequate tools
for self management. The title of Horowitz et al. (2004) article A story of maladies, misconceptions

Horowitz et al. (2004) found interventions done to date did not benefit from sufficient data in which
potentially modifiable factors are responsible for suboptimal treatment, inadequate self
management, and adverse CHF outcomes. The researcher s perspective on the problem of self
managing CHF came from determining whether a patient understands and perception of CHF
demonstrated the features of the disease, which are important for participation in their own care.
According to Polit and Beck (2008), literature reviews vary in purpose and length in order to
critically appraise the state of research evidence. There are major steps which must be completed in
order to properly analyze literature. Literature review broadens the understanding of a research
problem and summarizes the existing body of knowledge related to the phenomenon of interest.
Horowitz et al. (2004) reviewed different sources, which provided a solid base for this study. The
researchers utilized current studies and trials to provide reliability and validity to their study. The
researchers integrated the literature throughout the study, highlighting clinical guidelines and
current thoughts of best practice. Although the majority of literature reviewed was pertinent and
timely, there were several journal articles dating back 15 years, which may render the information

Use both the flat and 3D models to visualize the following characteristics of the pituitary and its
location
Morphology mechanisms
A tiny almond sized organ
The pituitary gland is composed of three lobes: Anterior, intermediate (smallest) and posterior (see
the figure on the right)
Anterior pituitary (AP): Hormones (up regulation and down regulation) are controlled by the
hypothalamic hormones. The AP is divided into three parts or pars: the pars tuberalis, pars
intermedia and pars distalis.
The posterior pituitary develops as an extension of the hypothalamus and its cells (known as the
magno cellular neuro secretory cells have its cell bodies in the hypothalamus and its axons
projecting into the posterior pituitary.
The anterior pituitary (adenohypophysis) arises from the oral ectoderm while the posterior pituitary
(neurohypophysis) originates from the neuro ectoderm.

A Hero s Journey Into The Wild
Steadily walking up the steep mountain path, Dave thought out loud to himself. I think this is
the best hiking path ever, he whispered to nobody. Suddenly, Dave took a step forward and
tripped on a rock. Owww! he yelled. He had a bad bump on his head. As he got up from the dusty
road, he noticed a small cave maybe three feet high and three feet wide. He couldn t believe his
eyes. Wowww! Dave exclaimed. He crawled to the cave, grabbed his flashlight from his pack, and
slid inside the cave. Dave turned on his flashlight and found the cave huge. As he shone his
flashlight around, he saw huge stalactites and stalagmites with pools of water. As he walked in
farther, he heard rocks hitting the floor. He also heard a screech and three bats

How Is Tom Robinson Innocent In To Kill A Mockingbird
In the timeless classic To Kill a Mocking Bird, by Harper Lee, racism and courage flows through

struggles with this trial because he knows that he isn t going to win but he keep moving forward
because he feels one day the good will overcome the evil. There was a lot of courage to come
through this book as well as racism and prejudice. Some of the characters were faces with fear
and dangers as well. Scout s courage on the first day of school showed a lot about her and how
she tried to explain to Mrs. Caroline the Cunningham s way of life, also when she tells Mrs.

Theories of Aggression Essay
Theories of Aggression
Two Gunman at Colorado School Reportedly Kill Up to 23 Before Dying in a Siege. On
Tuesday, April 20, 1999, two students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, of Columbine High School,
shocked the nation when they entered the school armed with guns and explosives, killing fellow
students and a teacher before taking their own lives. Stories of random violence and aggression
such as this all too often plague the media. While the attention of the nation has recently been
focused on the Colorado slayings, history reveals countless other similar crimes of aggression
targeted towards innocent individuals. In both Nazi Germany and the more recent Bosnia conflict,
ethnic cleansing has been used to violently eliminate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the repression of such libidinal urges is displayed as aggression. As an example of the
expression of aggression as explained by Freud, let us consider his work on childhood
aggression, and the Oedipus Complex. A boy around age five begins to develop an intense
sexual desire for his mother. He has come to regard her as the provider of food and love and thus
wants to pursue an intimate, close relationship. The desire for his mother causes the boy to reject
and display aggression toward his father. The father is viewed as a competitive rival and the goal
they both try to attain is the mother s affection (1). Thus, an internal conflict arises in the young
boy. On one hand, he loves his father, but on the other, he wants him to essentially disappear , so
that he can form an intimate relationship with his mother. A boy will develop an immense feeling
of guilt over this tumultuous conflict and come to recognize the superiority of his father because of
his size. This evokes fear in the boy and he will believe that by pursuing his mother s affection his
father will want to hurt him, essentially castrate him (1). To resolve the conflict, the boy learns to
reject his mother as a love object and will eventually identify with his father. Thus, he has come to
understand that an intimate relationship with his mother is essentially inappropriate.
Freud also developed the female Oedipal Complex, later named the Electra

Mi Brain Design Techniques
3. Proposed Technique
Intuitively, if we can precisely locate the tumor region in the MRI image and recognize the
corresponding shape as well, then we will obtain a high performance algorithm, also if we can
take only a few features from this region, then we will obtain an algorithm with a low complexity
compared with the previous algorithms. This section describes an overview of all fundamental
processes in our brain diseases classification system. These processes are generally referred to as
image preprocessing, image segmentation, feature extraction and classification respectively see
Fig.3.

3.2 Image Segmentation The proposed model performs the segmentation process using clustering
method which is considered an efficient segmentation technique. Clustering is the process of
classifies objects into different groups and classes. In clustering the data is classified according
to a common features shared between the object and the target class. The process of portioning
data into a number of subsets is often referred to as supervised learning or clustering. K means is
one of clustering techniques designed and used in many approaches [4]. K means is generally
used to determine the natural groupings of pixels present in an image. K means is considered to be
one of the best unsupervised clustering and classification techniques, also it s considered a very fast
technique compared with other algorithms. The aim of using K means is to classify each pixel to it
s one or more data classes by calculating the distance between the input pixel with the other pixels in
the clustering window. Fig.5 shows the result of applying the clustering technique on an MRI
image containing tumor and the resulted image showing the image after extracting the tumor
region only without any noise or other regions.
3.3 Feature Extractions
Once we get the tumor region now we can get some features from the segmented image that can
help us in classifying the disease that the MRI image suffers from. The feature extraction process
consists mainly of two stages which are, feature

Basic Recommender System Techniques For Creating A New...
Several ways have been proposed for combining basic recommender system techniques to create a
new hybrid system. The earlier survey of hybrids approaches [40] identified seven different types
such as weighted, switching, mixed, feature combination, feature augmentation, cascade and meta
level [114]. A weighted hybrid recommender is one in which the score of a recommended item is
computed from the results of all of the available recommendation techniques present in the system
[40]. The score of different recommendation components is combined numerically. Weighted
combination model which implements collaborative and content based methods separately and
combines their predictions with giving adjustable weight to both recommendation [50, 115].The
benefit of a weighted hybrid is that all of the system s capabilities are brought to bear on the
recommendation process in a straightforward way and it is easy to perform post hoc credit
assignment and adjust the hybrid accordingly [40]. Liu et al. [116] proposed another hybrid
recommendation system to deal with the problems of content based, demographic filtering and
collaborative filterings, such as sparsity and scalability. To resolve the sparsity problem, blanks in
the user item rating matrix are п¬Ѓrst п¬Ѓlled with a weighted average rating on items which a user
has rated, where the weight of the rated item is calculated by the similarity between an unrated item
and the rated item in their feature values. Then, collaborative filtering

Genocide during the Bosnian War
Raphael Lemkin described genocide as acts of barbarism that should be outlawed, even in times

is 2014 already. We are so much more advanced and connected then back during the time of the
Holocaust. A genocide started just 22 years ago and it was during the Bosnian War. The Bosnian
Genocide was atrocious because it classified and dehumanized a religion, it allowed for the

Serbs who stayed friendly with Muslim neighbors or tried to protect them were considered
traitors, and they were dealt with harshly (Ching). The prisoners in the camps were beaten,
denied food and water, housed in horrific conditions, sexually assaulted, tortured, and finally
killed (Bosnian Genocide). There was no food, little water, and a lot of fear (Bosnia 1995).
Some detainees there were killed on a pyre of burning tires, while others were forced to load
dead bodies onto trucks, or to dig their own graves. As many as fifty thousand Muslim girls and
women, aged nine to sixty, were raped by Serbian soldiers and volunteers. This made them unfit,
according to Muslim culture, to be either wives or mothers (Ching). The Serbian soldiers would
declare after rape that the women had given birth to Serbian babies. Due to these incidents, many
of the female captives lost all of their strength and suffered from a number of sexually transmitted
infections. The first goal of the Serbs was to wipe out the educated, the intellectuals, the wealthy,
and any other non Serbs who actively opposed their rule. By June 1994, fewer than 50,000

Croats and Serbs had the option of fleeing to Croatia and Serbia. However Bosnian Muslims had

Significance Of The Second Nun Essay
Part one: The Pilgrim In order to understand the significance of the second nun we must first look
at the duties and life of a traditional medieval nun. Medieval nuns and priests were expected to
live a very devout and highly moral life. Medieval nuns and priests must be fully dedicated to
god and christian faith. The daily life of a medieval nun was formulated around three main vows
established by St Benedict in 480 550 AD, The vow of Poverty, The vow of Chastity and the
Vow of obedience. As dictated by these vows nuns and priests must live very modestly and
renounce everything they own for use of the common good, remain chaste for their entire lives
and must be obedient to god as well as their superiores. Medieval nun s and priests lived isolated
from civilization in fully self sustained compounds know as covenants. Inside the covenant nun s
and priest were expected to perform daily tasks such as: washing and cooking for the monastery,
raising the necessary supplies of vegetables and grain, producing wine, ale and honey, providing
medical care for the community, providing education for novices, spinning, weaving and
embroidery, and Illuminating manuscripts. In addition to these tasks nuns and priest followed a
very strict and routine schedule of daily prayers known as the book of hours. All nuns and priests
were expected to attend the prayers and would immediately stop what they are doing to inorder
attend. Due to the lack of description in the general prologue and fact

  • 3. The Political Ideology That Best Represents My Views The political ideology that best represents my views is liberalism. Liberalism is an ideology that emphasizes, cultural diversity, government programs for the needy, public intervention in the economy, and individuals rights to a lifestyle based on their own social and moral positions (Morone Kersh, 2014, p. 37). In other words, liberalismpromotes government assistance for individuals in need as well as protect every individual s rights. One aspect of my life that has shaped my political views is my religious background. I grew up in a Baptist family, and used to go to church regularly. As I got older, I started going to church less and less because the things my pastor said made me feel very uncomfortable. At the time, I did not understand why I felt so uncomfortable and it was not until I got older that I realized why I felt the way I did. Majority of the time, my pastor said things that had sexist and homophobic undertones. Despite being in a holy place, I spent the duration of my time as a member of the church feeling disconnected from everything, which eventually led to me breaking ties with the church completely. My family s financial background also helped in shaping my views. When I was younger, my family received financial assistance from the government in the form of CHIPs and food stamps. I was too young to remember how food stamps benefited my family, but I do remember the many ways in which CHIPs helped us out. For example, I grew up having terrible ... Doctors use usual biomedical diagnostic techniques but depend also on their personal experience, logic and opinion in checking if the patient is legitimately sick. So therefore legitimacy of illness is often strictly based on a doctor. Many people report pain in the body that cannot be diagnosed by medical doctors. Data showed that if a person was categorised as Sick Role then they could be granted sick leave, social grant and compensation. Illnesses that affected people were not constraint to a specific period of time but rather affected almost everyone at some point in their lives. It is inevitable that people would be sick and as such the sick role was found to still have relevance today, for it is inevitable that it would be implemented. Conclusion The ultimate gatekeeper of sick role would be the doctor. They provide the necessary establishment of social control or play the role of an ethical care giver in society, using their authority to differentiate between normality and deviance in social systems. Tasmanian devils have low genetic diversity, and this factor contributes to why DFTD is so immensely affecting this population. The Tasmanian Devils low genetic may have been caused by the widespread killing of the marsupial by bounty hunters, leaving the species with descendants from the same small population. This resulting low genetic diversity from not having a very diverse selection of mates leads to small variation in the genes for their immune systems, which may contribute to the rapid spread of ... • 7. Pride And Prejudice Predicting The Future Of Women Essay Myracle Tyson Ms. Faris Honors English IV 29 May 2015 Pride and Prejudice: Predicting the future of the Modern Woman. Women are complex and difficult beings that may, or may not, be meant to be fully understood by the brain of their male counterparts. In terms of independence women rightfully deserve their own apart from men, needing the privacy to freely think and judge things on their own. An overbearing male can destroy the female thoughts with the influence of their own independent thoughts. Women were made different, but not as different, from men for a purpose although people have differentiating reasons of their own opinions. Although women were not always bold enough to speak or even think about how they deserved independence and privacy from men, the notion was always there, even in women who lived hundreds of years ago. In Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice the main character, Elizabeth Bennet, embodies what was to become of most modern day women, seeking the privacy from men to obtain her own form of independence and free will. However, it can be deduced that the major God that the people of Ur worshiped was the Nanna or the Moon God. As mentioned above, the city of Ur was divided into two areas, namely, common district and the sacred place. The sacred place has a large monument or massive brickwork which is called the temple of Sinor the godof the moon. This monument was erected by the king of Ur about 4000 years ago. In this massive destruction, a large number of inhabitants ran away, and several buildings were destructed. Therefore, there is evidence available regarding the living of the people in the traditional Ur city. The artifacts and the archeological findings show that in a typical townhouse, street door opened into a small lobby. The entrance of the house contained a jar of water which is provided to the arriving people to wash their feet. On another side of the lobby, there is another courtyard. Surrounding the courtyard were various rooms like store rooms, lavatory and kitchen. The kitchen includes a table built with brick, grinding stones and oven for cooking. The people in the ancient city also used pots and pan for cooking. The typical houses in Ur city contained a long room in the center called reception room. The modern Arab houses also follow the same pattern. In addition to it, the houses of Ur had a well constructed staircase at the other side of the house courtyard. At the same time, the situational factors are very important considerations that influence success or failure. Situational influences play crucial role in leadership success. There were many critical situational factors that had an effect on the revolutionary process in October 1917. The country was exhausted by war with Germany (the I World War 1914 1917). Different Types Of Wines By Ernest Hemingway Essay Ernest Hemingway once said, Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing. More simply and literally put, wineis an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented juice of grapes. Wine making and drinking dates to thousands and thousands of years ago. In fact, the earliest record of vinification, or wine making, is placed in the Bible in Genesis 9:20 21 where it states that Noah planted a vineyard and drank wine produced from it around 4100 B.C. Over the years, people have experimented making different types of wines with different kinds of grapes, which have been split into 4 categories. These categories are Wild Vine, Indistinct Vitis Vinifera, Distinct Vitis Vinifera and Hybrids. These different types of wines have been divided into 5 different classifications which are Table Wine, Sparkling Wine, Dessert Wine, Fortified Wine and Aromatized Wine. Concurrently, these different wines are made in several different locations around the world. The top producing wine country is Italy with the United States falling not too far behind in 4th place. Each student has his or her own unique approach and style of learning. These differences may not always mesh with the conventional educational methods practiced at the collegiate level. As the demographics of the collegiate population continue to change, academic institutions nationwide have responded to this challenge with an increase in multimodal educational interventions. This approach takes more time, and often the learner must set aside several hours of study time in order to fully grasp what is expected of her (VARK 2012). Comparatively, a read and write score of four was too low of a score to be considered as a bi modality asset, and was mildly suggestive of mediocre success at the collegiate level. Kinesthetic learners must translate into the read and write mode. The author is in disagreement with this concept. She believes that the read and write mode is a dominant learning preference as well. Current study techniques include note taking, extra reading, and composing discussion question responses for class. A score of three in the aural category states a potential disadvantage for learning, especially at the university level as this technique is widely used in Western education. This result is less worrisome, because the author is involved in an online learning environment, which has little emphasis on the aural modality. A score of zero in the visual category carries a strong recommendation to avoid that mode of learning. This analysis is also incorrect as the author utilizes underlining, highlighters, and symbols as learning aides when studying (VARK 2012). The VARK Personal Learning Profile concludes the author s greatest weakness is visual learning. This is where study habits must be revised and changed to meet current academic needs. Sex And Gender And Deviant Behavior There is significant value in continuing research sex and gender differences in psychology, as substantial differences in particular psychological processes exist. Perhaps the most impactful area that psychologists can continue to study sex and gender differences is in psychopathologies and deviant behavior. This is for two reasons: because significant sexand genderdifferences exist in the manifestation, diagnosis, and treatment of certain psychopathologies and deviant behavior; and that this category has widespread and significant impacts on society. The study of psychopathologies through a sex differential lens can vastly change the way in which they are understood, diagnosed and treated. As gender and sex differences can be overstated, leading to misconceptions, psychologists must find a balance between searching for differences and recognizing that the wide overlap that exists between men and women, males and females. Investing psychopathologies and deviant behavior without keeping this in mind does a disservice to individuals and society alike. Defining the Problem/ Assemble the Evidence This law was intended to help new mothers, but there are still gaps in this law. Some issues come from accessibility, coverage, and support. The Affordable Care Act requires employers to provide mothers that are breastfeeding with a reasonable time and a space to express their milk. Unfortunately, only forty percent of women returned to work with these accommodations. I believe this is an issue because forty percent is an extremely small number and if this is a law, then that mean that various employers are not giving nursing mothers the accommodation that they are supposed to have. Women are also facing challenges with getting lactation support for no expense, which is supposed to be covered under their insurance. Why pass a law to help nursing mothers if there are no records of mothers having access to it? It is important for most mothers that their child is healthy and it is not fair to tell them they have access to something that employers aren t giving them. If a defendant had a duty of care towards the claimant, then a remedy can be enforced to cover for any losses. Factual causation in negligence establishes whether it was the defendant in fact who caused the harm, in order to determine the factual causation, the but for test is used. The but for test includes asking the question of but for the defendant s carelessness, would the claimant have escaped harm? The factual causation would be determined if the answer is yes , as harm would have not occurred if the defendant did not breach the duty of care. If the answer is no then the defendant would not be held liable. The but for test states that X is the cause of Y if Y would not have occurred in the absence of X . In fact, it s important for people to understand the true meaning of the purpose they have in life so that they may live well here on Earth. Philosophers, such as Socrates, Aristotle, and Confucius began to question the life of a human being and what it meant to be a human being. Each of these philosophers has their own philosophy or worldview of the best life a human being can live, with the concept of having wisdom and virtue being the key components. In fact, each of these philosophers expresses the importance of having a life full of wisdom and virtue based off what they describe as the best life for a human being. Socrates, according the Apology, describes the best life for a human being is to live the examined life by having a care for the soul . Basically, he believes that people should examine their lives by asking questions and effectively prove it be true and know it for themselves rather than to rely on someone else s word for it to be right or true. Essentially, this is the very thing that Socrates discovered about the meaning of wisdom as he attempts to solve the Delphic riddle that no one is wiser than Socrates. He discovered that the people who claimed to be wise, such as the politicians, poets and artisans were not really wise; they just appeared to be. As an example of the expression of aggression as explained by Freud, let us consider his work on childhood aggression, and the Oedipus Complex. A boy around age five begins to develop an intense sexual desire for his mother. He has come to regard her as the provider of food and love and thus wants to pursue an intimate, close relationship. The desire for his mother causes the boy to reject and display aggression toward his father. The father is viewed as a competitive rival and the goal they both try to attain is the mother s affection (1). Thus, an internal conflict arises in the young boy. On one hand, he loves his father, but on the other, he wants him to essentially disappear , so that he can form an intimate relationship with his mother. A boy will develop an immense feeling of guilt over this tumultuous conflict and come to recognize the superiority of his father because of his size. This evokes fear in the boy and he will believe that by pursuing his mother s affection his father will want to hurt him, essentially castrate him (1). To resolve the conflict, the boy learns to reject his mother as a love object and will eventually identify with his father. The earlier survey of hybrids approaches [40] identified seven different types such as weighted, switching, mixed, feature combination, feature augmentation, cascade and meta level [114]. A weighted hybrid recommender is one in which the score of a recommended item is computed from the results of all of the available recommendation techniques present in the system [40]. The score of different recommendation components is combined numerically. Weighted combination model which implements collaborative and content based methods separately and combines their predictions with giving adjustable weight to both recommendation [50, 115].The benefit of a weighted hybrid is that all of the system s capabilities are brought to bear on the recommendation process in a straightforward way and it is easy to perform post hoc credit assignment and adjust the hybrid accordingly [40]. Medieval nuns and priests were expected to live a very devout and highly moral life. Medieval nuns and priests must be fully dedicated to god and christian faith. The daily life of a medieval nun was formulated around three main vows established by St Benedict in 480 550 AD, The vow of Poverty, The vow of Chastity and the Vow of obedience. As dictated by these vows nuns and priests must live very modestly and renounce everything they own for use of the common good, remain chaste for their entire lives and must be obedient to god as well as their superiores. Medieval nun s and priests lived isolated from civilization in fully self sustained compounds know as covenants.
