When the two men come face to face they are both shot from below establishing that there they
are both strong figures, which is an important film noir tactic. The other officers around them are
shot at eye level. The tension between them begins with a racial comment from Quinlin stating

recognize him and that he should lay off the candy bars making it obvious that Quinlin has
physically deteriorated since they were at one time involved. As the film goes on Quinlin falls back

Both authors examined the qualities of Brando s acting that made his acting memorable. Neves
investigated Brando s acting style in the 1954 film On The Waterfront. Neves delved into how
Brando s method acting approach strengthened his role and focused on the psychological
complexity Brando gave to the character. Whereas Krasner wrote about Brando s role in the 1951
film A Streetcar Named Desire and explored specific details in his acting technique, such as his

Recently this week, we ve been discussing perception and how it impacts the way we
communicate in our daily lives. Interestingly enough, this episode of COMMPENDIUM hosted
by Professor Stephen Stifano focused on this subject and its attributes. Our guest star featured is
Sara Picklesimer, a University of Louisville graduate and now currently a doctoral student at the
University of Connecticut in the field of communication. She was born in Pinesville, Kentucky,
and started off as a biology major before realizing her passion was communication after taking her
first public speaking course. Despite being a shy and reserved individual, Ms. Picklesimer found
that she actually enjoyed and was surprisingly good at this field. She now teaches a gender and
communication course here at the University of Connecticut, which ties in gender through music
and a variety of other aspects in relation to communication. She gives us her expert lecture on two
primary topics related to perception: thin slicing and the impact and effect of gender on the ways in
which we communicate.

In the movie Miracle on Ice , Coach Herb Brooks takes his team in the National Hockey League
through the Kotter s 8 Step Change Management Process to become successful in the Winter
Olympic Games of 1980. Many of Herbs actions and techniques seem to be unorthodox at first,
but people soon began to realize that the changes that were made did in fact make a difference.
These changes led to the USA victory against the Soviets and all together the 1980 Olympics.
This paper will discuss how Brooks takes the organization through these 8 changes. The first step
in the change process is to create a sense of urgency. Coach Herb originally starts this step out in
his interview for the head coaching position of the USA team. He brings to the table that he
wants to change the entire process that the teams usually go through. These changes include not
relying on players that just have talent, using a team chemistry to drive teamwork, longer/harder
workouts, use different playing strategies and using less experienced players. These created a
sense of urgency to the board he was presenting to because using less experienced players while
initiating changes that had never been done before would possibly take longer and need more
work than their usual process. Secondly, forming a powerful coalition would be the next step in the
change process for Coach Herb to follow, which would include getting people to support the

Let It Snow by David Sedaris is a short story that magnifies the extent to which children might go
in order to grab the attention of their parents. It is full imaginative details that would help the
reader understand what it feels like to be a child. Sedaris starts with these imaginative details from
the beginning of the story to the end and this keeps the interest of the reader. After the reader begins
to read he/she might get the assumption that the story will be about a snow day, but it focuses on
the hurt and neglect in which Sedaris and his siblings experience from their drunken mother and
absent father. After being kicked out into the cold by their mother, the children are left to think
about their relationship with their parents while battling a cold weather. The writer begins to
express his feelings towards his parents, particularly his mother, by providing various details that
keep the reader emotionally invested in the story.

are all important articles as narrated by each author. After I have read all these three steps, I chose
getting started in writingas the most important stage and I will show you the readers how I came
about this statement through Anne Lamott s article. Lamott provided knowledge, references
and experiences on the way to get started and how to be at ease on what to write for students and
would be writers. The first thing to consider is how does one get to start writing. I consider
myself not that good at writing, especially in English, for I am bilingual. Even so, I read from
one article that if you just write for your assignment, it is not good enough, you need to write for

Immunizations and vaccines help prevent future diseases such as pneumonia, polio, and HPV.
Polio is a disease that can cause paralysis (Poliomyelitis). This disease is most commonly found in
Nigeria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan (Childhood). One out of every five children in Pakistan don t
have their necessary vaccines and immunizations (Childhood). In rural areas 2/3 of their children
don t get their vaccinations (Childhood). Pakistan health issues are mainly due to the slow

Economic globalization is one of the most powerful forces to have shaped the postwar world.

transport and the elimination of trade barriers have led to a surge of international trade between
developed countries and lesser developed countries. The benefits of free trade extend
internationally. Free trade promotes economic development in lesser developed countries and
increases imports to developed nations. But does this system of global trade benefit only
manufactures and businesses or does it open up the market to everyone by creating new global

blockades put in place by governments to restrict the flow of goods and services between trading
