The Biological Weapons Of The Field Of Biotechnology
hnology can be defined as using living organism or their components to change or create
material for specialized use. Biotechnology is a relatively new term but it has been used for
centuries in a variety of civilizations (Gossett Kähler, 2014). The field of molecular biology
has drastically progressed the field of biotechnology essentially operating on higher order of
magnitude than our ancestors. With more knowledge of genetic material and metabolic
functions, scientists have been capable of extraordinary feats from gene therapy to genomic
sequencing. The advancements in biotechnology and in other research areas has also increased
the potential misuse of scientific research that could be used to harm humanity and the world
instead of help it. This concept has been dubbed dual use research and defined to be technology
that could be used for general public and combat purposes (Rath et al., 2014). The possible usage
of biological weapons (BW) has increased with growing technology and disputes amongst nations.
The use of genetic engineering has greatly opened opportunities for specifically generated
weapons to be produced. The Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) has stopped production and
storage of BW but select parties are permitted to study and perform research on potential BW as
long as it s for neutral or beneficial objectives (Biological Weapons Convention, 2001). These
conditions have inflicted major concern within the general public and inaugurated major ethical

Comparing Christian Bible And The Sky World Creation Story
There are several different theories as to how the earth came to be, there are similarities and
differences with some of them. It is very clear that there are indeed differences in the stories,
along with similarities. Many people are familiar with the Christian Bible version; the earth was
created in seven days, Adam was created then Eve from his rib. However, not nearly as many
people have heard of the Sky Worldcreation story. Both stories have a tree with something
forbidden about it. In the Christian story the character may not eat the fruit which grows from the
tree; in the Sky World story the character may eat all the fruit she wish, however, you may not
touch the roots or do anything to harm the tree. In both stories there is someone who rebels and
does what they were not supposed to with the trees. The woman in Sky World dug to find the
roots of the tree and she fell through the bottom of sky world; in the Bible story the fruit was eaten.
In both stories, the people were punished in some way. In the sky world story, the Skywoman along
with the animals created the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the sky world story, the woman goes to a new world and creates a beautiful, luscious land for
her children and descendants to grow up in. It is easy to see that the all powerful god in the
Christian creation story is a ruthless and unforgiving leader, whereas the creator of earth in the sky
world story was a loving mother and caring person. There isn t much realism in either story,
however, there are morals and it is easy to see the differences in morals. The sky world story
teaches forgiveness, patience, kindness, nurturing, and many other things that are valuable for
people to learn. In the Bible story, however, it is taught that if you make a mistake or are tempted
you should be punished horribly, it also teaches fear and that you should do as you re told because
you are afraid, not because you are a good

Mechanic Career Research Paper
Mechanics are people who knows what is wrong with an automobile and how to fix one, There
are a lot of people in this career field, about 701,000 people are employed in this career in the
United States. Mechanics have quite a bit of duties to pursue, some of these duties are to identify
mechanical problem, often by using computerized diagnostic equipment. They also have to test
parts to make sure they all work properly. If they do not work properly they then explain to their
clients what automotive problems they are having, and inform them of the repairs they will make
and what the cost will be. Most Mechanicswork full time and many also work evenings or
weekends. Overtime is very common for this career. You can be either male or female to qualify
for this job field. You will also have to qualify with the education requirements. It will be required
to have a certificate for an automotive technology training program or 2 years in college, which is
an associate s degree. Anyone male or female could easily meet those qualifications if you put your
time into it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Average annual salary for Mechanics is around $36,000 per year. That is a higher salary than most
average jobs that require a higher education. They make about $17.60 per hour, depending on your
experience also. Highest earners in the field make about $61,210 annually, and the lowest take
home about $20,920 annually. Mechanics have many positions but, master mechanics can manage
all of the positions. Some of the positions would be a brake repairer, they adjust brakes, and handle
other repairs on brake systems. Another position would be front end mechanics, they balance and
align wheels, repair steering mechanisms and also suspension systems. There is also a transmission
technician and rebuilders, they work on couplings, hydraulic pumps, gear trains, and parts of

I M an Entertainment Person
The term mise en scene is used to signify the director s control over what appears in the film frame
(1) and covers such elements as setting, lighting, costume and the movement and actions of figures
appearing within the film.
The iconic Citizen Kane (Welles, 1941), a biopic that traces the life of fictional newspaper magnate
Charles Kane, uses the elements of mise en scene to reinforce loss as a recurring theme throughout
the film. As a faceless reporter goes about collecting personal recounts of Kane, the stories told
suggest that throughout the majority of his life, Kane was moving inevitably toward [an inner state
of] bitterness, disappointment and loss (2).
The first flashback scene shown (set at Kane s childhood home) ... Show more content on

After watching it, and knowing more about true appreciation of film I get it, so to speak.
Watching a film takes so much more than just escaping from your own life for a few hours.
Being able to turn your brain off and say, Ok. I get to live in this other world for the day. This is
my life for a day. Film is only about escaping in the sense that a message must escape from the
scenes, and the story as a whole. It may never cross the lips of any of the characters, or be
written in white on a black screen (as in black and whites), and it won t be mystically entered
into your computerized mind, or sent as a message to your iPhone. No...to get the message of the
film you have to watch and know what to look for the subtle nuances and the mise en scene,
everything that is in a particular frame, because those are the clues and you are the detective. You
must find universal truth and your own personal growth from what you take from the movie.
Some movies do a poor job of sending a message and those are the movies that people watch and
forget to learn from them. Other are too complex. Citizen Kane is perfect because you can learn
everything you ever needed to know about how to analyze a film from it, and it is such a
beautifully simple story, with complex characters, making the everyday important, just as it should
be in our own lives.
First off, Orson Welles, the writer/director/actor in this film, who

Midst Of Weakness Essay
God: There in the Midst of Weakness It was my senior year of high school in the small town of
Gardendale, Alabama. This was the year the girls varsity soccer team was expected to go all the
way to the finals, and make a hard run at the state championship title. We had made it to the third
round, and after this game we were heading north to Huntsville, Alabama for the quarter finals.
Except, in an instant, this all changed after one practice, two days before our game, when our
principal showed up with some heartbreaking news. We no longer had a shot at the championship
title because someone on our team had broken the rules; therefore, we had been kicked out of the
playoffs. This filled me with anger, hatred, and resentment towards that one person. I became a
very bitter version of myself until God showed me a new path to walk down in the following
week. My story beings on the Friday night before our first playoff game. My dad asked me to go
to our city soccer fields to get a corner flag for the game tomorrow at the school. When I got to
the fields one of my best friends texts me and says, Hey! Are high school players allowed to play
on teams other than the high school team? I was confused. No they are definitely not, but was
she talking about one of my teammates or someone we were supposed to play against? I storm
out onto the field to see if I know who is breaking such a big rule and my mind is blown when I
see one of my own teammates out on the field playing. So much is running through my mind, Do
I say something to her? Do I tell my coach? What will this do to our chances of playing in the
championship? All these thoughts, yet I stand on the field frozen from anger at the fact that this
person thinks it s okay to break a rule in order to benefit herself. So I did what anyone like me
would do and I confronted her, Do you really think it is okay that you are out here playing when
our high school season is still going on? She stares at me with no emotion on her face, says
absolutely nothing, and just walks away acting as if she had done no wrong. I left the fields that
night with all those questions about what to do still circling about in my mind and some new
thoughts popping up, I am the only

When the two men come face to face they are both shot from below establishing that there they
are both strong figures, which is an important film noir tactic. The other officers around them are
shot at eye level. The tension between them begins with a racial comment from Quinlin stating
that Vargas doesn t sound like a Mexican. When Vargas reassures Quinlin that he wont he won t
have any trouble with him, Quinlin responds with, you bet your sweet life I wont. The shot ends
with a second of silence focused from below on Quinlin s shadowed face. The use of shadows is
also a key element of film noir, which helps to create the dark and mysterious world that
surrounds the characters. Quinlin increasingly represents a common character in film noir.
Although he is a strong character in the eyes of his fellow officers, he is portrayed as a loner who
has become disillusioned and insecure. His scenes with Tanya Tana (Marlene Deitrich) are
revealing of Quinlin s past and his downward spiral since then. She comments that she didn t
recognize him and that he should lay off the candy bars making it obvious that Quinlin has
physically deteriorated since they were at one time involved. As the film goes on Quinlin falls back
into drinking and spends the later part of the film completely intoxicated. Although Tanya acts
indirectly as Quinlin s significant female, she does not represent the classic femme

The Qualities Of Brando s Acting
Both authors examined the qualities of Brando s acting that made his acting memorable. Neves
investigated Brando s acting style in the 1954 film On The Waterfront. Neves delved into how
Brando s method acting approach strengthened his role and focused on the psychological
complexity Brando gave to the character. Whereas Krasner wrote about Brando s role in the 1951
film A Streetcar Named Desire and explored specific details in his acting technique, such as his
usage of mumbling and his rebellious wardrobe choices. Neves points proved to be the strongest,
with his extremely in depth analysis and use of psychology to explain Brando s character s actions.
In the future, historians could analyze how Brando s acting improved and became more memorable
as he became older. Altogether, there were many reasons for Brando s memorability, as shown by
Neves arguments that the method style enhanced his acting, and as shown in Krasner s arguments
that precise details in his acting made him memorable, and further information on his memorability
could be gained by studying how his acting became better over time.
Neves addressed the question of Brando s memorability by examining his acting in the 1954 movie
On The Waterfront. Neves uses hearings by Elia Kazan (director of On the Waterfront) by the
House Committee of Un American Activities as a primary source. This source was useful because
it allowed Neves to gain information on the film s background, in the director s own words.

Rmk Influence On German Culture
With this concept in mind, the Kampfbund fГјr deutsche Kultur, or the Militant League for German
Culture, was created in 1929. Originally headed by Alfred Rosenburg, the Nazis took over the
institution when Hitler rose to power and it became known as the Reichskulturkammer in 1933.
The RKK was created to combat cultural influence that did not further Germanness . A division of
the RKK became known as the Reichsmusikammer, or the RMK, that was used to censor music all
throughout Germany. The only problem with the RMK was that it was entirely run by men with
almost no musical background. It can be agreed that all Germans were very fond of music and its
impact on the soul, but not all took the time to learn how to create and play music. The first of
many cultural restrictions targeted music specifically and crippled the creation of music in German
society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism
Essay No.1 Weber has been considered as an expert on origination of capitalism. His most
famous work is The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism. Weber thesis regarding
capitalism is rather considered as an argument counter to Marxist thesis (which was regarding
primacy of base over superstructure). Weber discussed in his book that capitalism was resulted
by Protestantism which was a religious movement or more specifically speaking Calvinism.
However any Calvinist who has gone through catechism would have known that seeking a sign
of selection by God in economic success, is not a right thing to do; therefore it is a travesty to
Weber s thesis (Kilcullen, 1996). One expects Weber to Capitalism is a result of Protestantism or
to be more specific, Calvinism. Calvinism believes God has granted few with salvation whereas
others have to go through damnation. This virtue isn t dependent on their good or bad actions
/ deeds but because God wanted it in a certain way. This belief made believers of Calvinism
worried about their salvation and made them invest more efforts into economic success. This, in
turn, made them believe that they were the chosen favourites of God. Furthermore, the profits made
by Calvanists were re invested into the business for further profits rather than self indulgence.
Hence, the concept of Protestant ethic came into place which generally refers to desire of having
enormous economic success and will of working hard. This concept of work ethic

The Five Social Classes In The United States
America has five social classes. The Upper Class is made up of wealth, and in most cases is
inherited wealth that has been passed down from generation to generation. Individuals have little
control over this class as many are born into the circumstance. The Upper Class participate in
politics and economic environments. Not all Upper Class is old money, there are also those
individuals that have made money as entrepreneurs. The next social classis the Upper Middle Class.
These individuals are at the top of management level in organizations, educated and have families.
Many Upper Middle class are two income families. (Tischler, pg 182) Education plays a key role in
the success of the Upper Middle class so there is a level of control an individual

Comparing Madonna And Child On The Crescent Moon
Throughout history, there has been consistent production of images of the Virgin Mary, often with
or holding the baby Jesus. Though the subject matter has remained the same, the methods and
techniques of these depictions have been subject to change. Sculptures of the Renaissance featured
similar structural and visual elements, even when created in different countries, several years apart.
When Virgin and Child, a French sculpture from the 1300 s, is compared to Madonna and Child on
the Crescent Moon, a German sculpture from the 1500 s, techniques and elements typical of the
Renaissanceare found in both. Virgin and Child, from the abbey church of Saint Denis, is a French
sculpture that was created between 1324 and 1339, gifted to the abbey... Show more content on

The majority of similarities are found in their visual and formal structure due to the sculptures
shared time period of the Renaissance. Virgin and Child and Madonna and Child on the Crescent
Moon are both representational and realistic, but neither of their realism goes far enough to
become naturalism. The use of the s curve and the great attention that was given to crafting the
small details in the folds of the fabric of both sculptures is greatly indicative of the influence of the
Renaissance. The content and pose of the sculptures also share similarities. The most obvious lies in
the subjects of the sculpture: Mary holding the baby Jesus. In both sculptures, Jesus caresses his
mother s face. This act humanizes Mary and her child, and creates an emotional expression that
was unusual for religious sculptures created before that time. Though the objects depicted are not
the same, the sculptures include an additional element that is full of symbolism: the fleur de lys
and a crescent moon. The cultural and historical contexts of these pieces are where the differences
between the two returns. Virgin and Child was a religious sculpture intended for a religious space,
and served an additional purpose as a reliquary. Madonna and the Child on the Crescent Moon
becomes the opposite of Virgin and Child, serving as a haus madonna, a religious sculpture intended

I can remember rare occasions as a child when I would wake up for school and there would be
pancakes, eggs and bacon on the table and orange juice or Sunny Delight to drink. These exciting
occasions, however, were just that: rare. Most days I would bound down the stairs to the toaster
loaded with Pop Tarts. I would usually be disappointed that I couldn t devour a wholesome
breakfast, but I later came to understand the convenience of the Pop Tart. My parents could put
pastries in the toaster and continue to get ready for their day without having to worry about too
much clean up. It was during these early days of my education that I really found a love for the

Along with their release to stores across the country, store managers were instructed to put the Pop
Tarts in the cookie and cake aisle, opposed to the cereal aisle where the Post Country Squares were
faltering in sales.
Kellogg started out with only four flavors of Pop Tarts: apple currant, blueberry, cinnamon and
strawberry. Over the years they have come out with a variety of different flavors including
chocolate, French toast and a very popular s mores version. The company decided not to frost the
original version because the creators thought that the frosting might melt in the toaster. The
developers later came to realize that the frosting would not melt in the toaster, however, and the
first Pop Tarts with frosting were released for sale in 1967.
In 1971, Kellogg decided to introduce Milton the Toaster, a cartoon character that would be used to
help promote the product. The character was a hit with the sample audiences and was launched
nationwide, but the campaign was terminated after a commercial showing Milton the Toaster being
hugged by a child fostered a fear that children may try to copy the commercial and burn themselves.
Pop Tarts came under a lot of scrutiny in 1992 when a man named Thomas Nangle sued Kellogg
for damages on the grounds that his Pop Tart got caught in his toaster and started a fire. The

Cardiomegaly Informative Speech
Your heart, the most important muscle organ in your body. Its job to keep blood flowing
throughout your body, by doing so it keeps you alive. Heart health is a concern for everybody;
there are many different types of heart disorders and diseases that can occur. The heart disorder
that I will be informing you about is Cardiomegaly also known at Heartmuscledisease.
Cardiomegaly a chronic heart condition that expands the heart by expanding the hearts tissue,
making it hard for the heart to squeeze and pump bloodthroughout the body effectively, causing
insufficient blood flow, abdominal heart rhythm and heart rate. Cardiomegaly could ultimately lead
to heart failure if not treated correctly or diagnosed as soon as possible. With 3 million

Cardiomegaly also known as Heart muscle disease has many causes from valve infection of the
heart, abnormal heart valve to alcohol and cocaine use. The most common causes are coronary
heart disease and high blood pressure. Symptoms include shortness of breath, leg swelling and
palpitations or skipped heartbeat. Symptoms are more common when the heart has expanded to
the point when it is too large and is no longer able to pump blood throughout the body effectively.
Some people may never experience any symptoms. That is why it is important to talk to your
doctor involving any kind of health concerns. Prevention from this disease include minimal to no
drug, tobacco use, having a healthy diet and eating well to reduce the chances of high blood
pressure. This is something we all can do as a start. Treatment for cardiomegaly can be
medications, medical procedures or surgery. Two forms of Medical treatment are having a small
device called a implantable cardioverter defibrillator or ICD for short; implanted into upper left

My Guest Star Featured Is Sara Picklesimer
Recently this week, we ve been discussing perception and how it impacts the way we
communicate in our daily lives. Interestingly enough, this episode of COMMPENDIUM hosted
by Professor Stephen Stifano focused on this subject and its attributes. Our guest star featured is
Sara Picklesimer, a University of Louisville graduate and now currently a doctoral student at the
University of Connecticut in the field of communication. She was born in Pinesville, Kentucky,
and started off as a biology major before realizing her passion was communication after taking her
first public speaking course. Despite being a shy and reserved individual, Ms. Picklesimer found
that she actually enjoyed and was surprisingly good at this field. She now teaches a gender and
communication course here at the University of Connecticut, which ties in gender through music
and a variety of other aspects in relation to communication. She gives us her expert lecture on two
primary topics related to perception: thin slicing and the impact and effect of gender on the ways in
which we communicate.
Professor Stifano mentioned some of the foundations of perception that we have discussed in our
lecture, including selective attention and perceptual filters. The other aspects revealed in this
podcast are thin slicing and gender. All of these elements tie into each other in terms of
communicating effectively and making decisions, and what make up perception. We learned that
perception is selecting, organizing, and

African American Teachers
An American psychiatrist by the name of William Glasser once stated, When you study great
teachers...you will learn much more from their caring and hard work than from their style. Teachers
are a huge part of an individual s life. From the time a person enters into preschool until the
complete cessation of their educational career, the teachers and professors along the way each
influence that student s perspective and feeling towards the particular subject they taught. With
daily interactions, teachers become a part of a student s microsystem. They are often times the only
other constant adult figure in their student s life apart from the caregiver. Whether it is

David Robert Mitchell s It Follows
In It Follows, director David Robert Mitchell combines the tale of ordinary adolescents coming to
age with a shapeshifting antagonist, as he masterfully blends the paradoxical topics of youthful,
romantic realism and paranormal horror. While more subtle than the stereotypical slasher horror
film, exploring loftier themes such as existentialism, sexual socialization, mortality, and sexual
morality, it never strays from its main purpose: bringing fear and terror to the audience. Mitchell
uses a number of ambitious and creative techniques to navigate this movie of contrast, none more
prevalent or important than his use of diegetic and non diegetic sound. The natural sound, sound
effects, and music set the tone and mood of It Follows from beginning... Show more content on

Not only is there a conflicting dissonance between the diegetic and non diegetic sound as discussed
previously, this element is equally present within the incidental music itself. Quite frequently a
single beat or rhythm is introduced and subsequently grouped with differing, often incongruent
beats, sound effects, noises, and tones. Combining a huge assortment of audio techniques, varying
greatly in style, tone, and tempo, the background score is erratic and unpredictable and it injects the
film with a volatile, unrelenting feel. Futuristic melodies, distorted and muffled noise, screeching
static sounds, pulsating beats, siren like music, pounding, banging, grating, and soft, echoing tunes
are all combined and jumbled together at different times, never letting the audience get comfortable
with anything it hears. This effect is amplified by suddenly starting and stopping, changing speeds,
and alternating levels of volume to the already perplexing and unnerving soundtrack. These
strategies, much like the foreboding antagonist, constantly remind the audience of the looming,
impending doom the characters face, even in the safest of settings and in the most mundane

Thus, to be compatible with the accuracy of gyros and accelerometers currently in use, a rate
table system must be capable of measuring and controlling angular velocities down to the order of
0.001 degree per second. Single Axis test tables provide precise angular position, rate and
acceleration for development and production testing of inertial components and systems. What is
Gyroscope? Micro machined inertial sensors, consisting of accelerometers and gyroscopes are one
of the most important types of silicon based sensors. A gyroscope is a device for measuring or
maintaining orientation, based on the principles of angular momentum. The Gyroscope developed
at GIKI is a thermally actuated 3 DoF micro machined gyroscope utilizing Chevron thermal
actuators to drive proof mass. There are a number of actuation mechanisms which include
electrostatic, piezoelectric, thermal etc. The benefits of this design will be described later. These
actuators are activated by Joule heating. When a potential difference is applied between two or
more points on electrically conducting material it causes flow of electrical current which induces
thermal strain due to internal heating. Consequently these thermal strains generate the desired
mechanical deformation or force. These thermal actuators are capable of providing a large force.
There are two types of thermal actuators: hot/cold

The Pros And Cons Of Domestic Terrorism
In today s society domestic terrorism is one of the biggest threats to the United States. Some of
these recent terrorist attacks include. Domestic Terrorism is when U.S. citizens carry out terrorist
acts against other U.S. residents or groups. Many people think that the biggest threat of terrorism to
the U.S. is from a foreign country, when in fact, the bigger threat is closer to home. Domestic
terrorismis becoming a bigger threat to the U.S. than international terrorism and we need to find a
way to prevent these attacks.
Domestic terrorists are turning into such a bigger threat as there becomes more and more
dangerous domestic terrorist groups. For instance, right wing extremists are becoming more of a
danger that we can t ignore. As said by Kurt Eichenwald, [Timothy] McVeigh, the infamous anti
government extremist, murdered 168 people in 1995 when he detonated a truck bomb in front of
the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. Like Timothy McVeigh, many U.S.
citizens have had violent disagreements about rights and freedoms with government officials,
which has caused many of these antigovernment extremist groups to form. According to Ron
Nixon, Mr. Ellison said, Right wing extremists have launched an average of 330 attacks a year
and killed about 250 people between 2002 and 2011. These are dangerous people. Right wing
extremists are becoming a bigger threat to our country. They are attacking and killing more people

Life Changing Events Happened From New York City
Life changing events happened in New York City. On September 11th, 2001 was without a
doubt, one of the most terrorizing experiences in the history of our Nation. You heard screams of
agony from people who were trying to seek safety for their loved ones. Pillars of smoke filled the
sky as innocent people cried out with agony and hurt of the injured and of people who didn t
understand what was going on. The streets were filled with clouds of dust and debris. The news
reporters told of the gripping story of how terror had struck the very hearts of the American
people. Our President, George W. Bush gave clear and concise demands to the events within a
few days following the horrible attacks on the Twin Towers. The demands that later led to new
ACT s being passed by Congress, would have a drastic change to what we call Civil Liberties.
By definition Civil Liberties is the state of being subjected only to laws that are established for
the good of the community, especially in terms of our freedom of action and speech. When we

Explain Why Hitler Lost The Battle Of Stalingrad
Adolf Hitler is often thought of as one of the most malicious dictators that has ever walked the
planet. He was a good leader that backed up his claims to the public with action, but he is not
without fault when discussing how he lost the war. One of the mistakes that led to Hitler losing
the war was his overconfidence in his Luftwaffe at the Battle of Dunkirk. Another reason Hitler
lost World War II was because he declared war on the U.S, believing that his army was more
powerful. Furthermore, an additional error made by Hitler that led to the eventual downfall of his
empire, was him being overconfident in the Sixth Army at the Battle of Stalingrad. Hitler lost World
War II because he had too much confidence in Germanys military.
To begin, Hitler lost World War II because he believed his Luftwaffe could defeat the Allies at...

Stalin s name. Located in South Russia, west of the Volga River, lay the city of Stalingrad. Hitler
told his army that they were invading the city to secure natural resources, but his allies knew that
this was a personal vendetta against Joseph Stalin. The battle was fought from July 17, 1942 until
February 2, 1943. Overconfident in their strength, Hitler ordered the Sixth Army to stay in
Stalingrad instead of retreating. This command was a vital mistake, as the Germans were

Martin Luther And John Calvin Views On Sinful People
Martin Luther and John Calvin В Views on Sinful People
Justification by faith (Sola Fide), the core value of the Reformation, is the belief that
righteousness from God is a recompense for sinner s accounts through faith alone. The sixteenth
century movement for the reform of abuses in the Roman Catholic Church resulted in the
establishment of the Reformed and Protestant Churches. Reformers like Martin Luther and John
Calvin were two of the most significant figures in the history of The Reformation. They both
proclaimed Justification as the main subject of the gospel of God s grace. They were well
acknowledged for their common doctrines of salvation as the deliverance from sin and its
consequences. They believed that to be brought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To compare Martin Luther s and John Calvin s view on the subject of a sinful person, I
thoroughly looked into their common doctrines and considered how they differ in implementing
the rules that manage their ideology. I was able to conclude that even though Luther and Calvin
shared similar doctrines, their conceptualization and interpretation of those doctrines is very
different. Based on their opinions of sinners, I further realized that not only do they have divergent
interpretations of similar doctrines, but they also have different ambitions and their personalities
are extreme opposites.
Luther often blamed the flesh, which Protestants refer to as our sinful nature (they
believed is the cause of human impurities), for the sins of every human and he gave credit to the
Spirit for every good things that man does. The Reformers and the Protestants believe that there
are two types of spirits: the Holy Spirit, which they proclaim to be the spirit of God, and the human
spirit, which is the part of humans that opens up to the spirit of God. The spirit that is often
refereed to when talking about the flesh is the human spirit (what does the Bible mean by the
flesh by Msgr. Charles Pope). We might argue that Luther is trying not to be judgmental, that he
acknowledged the fact that efforts to live a sinВfree life is a mere dream, and the best approach to

How Did John Deere Make The Cast-Iron Plows
The first real practicable plow was invented by Charles Newbold, and his cast iron version of the
plow was patented in 1797. It was disliked by many farmers in the area because they believed it
allowed the weeds to flourish. As other inventors built new ideas of the plows, these farmers got
rid of their former views and began using the plow. The cast iron plows were good for the light,
sandy soils of the East Coast, but they were very sluggish in the thick soil of Illinois ( Just ). John
Deere introduced a tool of agriculture, the self scouring plow, that would become a booming
manufacturing business for many years to come. John Deere was born in Vermont in 1804 to

depression and was treated for many severe conditions such as high blood pressure and liver

My Experience In Writing
While writing might seem like a simple task, it can be a daunting task for a lot of people.
Sometimes it can be hard to express the ideas in your mind in the words of a paper. This results
in a disconnect with what a writer may actually think. A great writer is one that can transform
his thoughts into words perfectly. This is a craft that takes many years to perfect, which is why
writing is troublesome for a lot of us. Many students also have had bad experiences with writing.
Maybe they had a teacher that didn t try to support them and their writing. They might not have
ever gotten the help they needed and may feel that they are in a hole where their writing can t
get better. At this point, they just accept that their writing will never get better. I have felt like
this many times in the past, so I can completely understand the way a lot of people feel about
writing. I have noticed that it has always taken a great teacher to help me get past these points.
Those teachers take the time to empower me and truly help me improve my writing. It takes more
than just some markings on a paper for someone to improve their writing. I have noticed that if I
am able to have a conversation about my writing with a teacher, they can better understand what I
am trying to convey, and therefore can show me a better way to express my ideas through my
writing. These connections I have had with some of my teachers have really empowered me and
my writing greatly. Writing for me can be frustrating

High Hopes at Miracle-Gro in The Medical Marijuana Field

Scotts Miracle Gro Co., to expand its market into the medical marijuana field. The company aims
to increase its revenues by diversifying its target market as a result of the recent legalization of
medical marijuana in several states.

medical marijuana field with Miracle Gro products. Centennial Seed Co. and General Cannabis Inc.
are also mentioned as companies that support the medical marijuana field. These new niche

The product itself does not necessarily need to be changed as its purpose will be identical in the
new market. However, the product s packaging, advertising, image, and distribution channels will
need to be redesigned and managed differently. Mostly, Scotts will need to be able to convince its
new target market of its product s benefits and value, to generate sales.
Scotts is entering an extremely controversial market of semi legal marijuana. According to the
article, only sixteen states approved laws to legalize marijuana for medical reasons. 68% of the
U.S. states have not legalized marijuana and still disapprove of its use. Scotts will need to pursue
a unique public relations strategy to address such potential concerns about growing marijuana.
Scotts will need to build an awareness and credibility to its product and promote its benefits in the
new market. It will carefully need to choose its messages and vehicles to deliver them. Its
communication mix will have to defend the product in the new market and advocate the medical
benefits it will create and generate.
Like Scotts, several other companies could benefit from the growth in the medical marijuana
industry. These may be companies that create products that assist with marijuana growth such as
seed, sprinkler systems, hot house builders, and lighting. Additionally, companies that assist with
packaging, delivery, and shipping

Medieval Kings Compare And Contrast
The comparison and contrast of medieval kings demonstrates how they evolved and struggled as
the kings of this time period. It starts off with the destruction of Rome. Due to factors such as
famine, economics, barbarians attacks, and the Black Death, Rome was destroyed. Rome became
the perfect ideal of the time. The kings throughout the middle ageswould try to recreate Rome, but
they never got back to the perfect city they imagined it to be. That being said, most of the kings
learned from the kings prior to them and advanced towards a society that was more like Rome.
Religion was a huge contrast point between kings of this time. For example, Charlemagne
reformed religion in his society during his kingship. It was stated that, He(Charlemagne) cherished
with the greatest fervor and devotion the principles of the Christian religion, which had been
instilled into him from infancy (Geary, 276). Religion was an important aspect of Charlemagne s
life. He realized that French and Latin were not the same, and the Bible they were reading was not
the same as the Latin version. In fear that they were practicing Christianity wrong, he brought in
monks to correct the bibles and teach people how to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Christianity. The public being able to read the Bible meant that the Bible and God could no
longer be used a threat to rule people. When no one was able to read, they did not know what the
Bible said and had to believe the king. People were threatened of not being able to go to Heaven if
they did something that God said was wrong . Charlemagne also appointed the Pope and was very

Negative Effects Of Social Media On Teenagers
Social media has a negative impact on teenagers
Teens spend hours and hours of their day on social media. Studies show that an average teen
spends roughly about 27 hours a week on the internet. A majority of people today use at least one
form of social media; it has it s positives, there are lots of things good about social media sharing
photos and videos with your friends, getting to talk with people you know, seeing what other
people are doing. Then there is the questions, is social media is putting too much pressure on
society? Does social media ruin our connection/relationship with people offline? Do people feel
like they need to change to fit in with what they see online?
Lets look at ways that social media could be putting too much pressure on society: models who
post photos in small amounts of clothing showing off their perfect figures or beauty bloggers
who spend hundred of pounds on make up to change the way their face looks completely. Most
of the time what we see on social media is very different to what is behind the screen; most teens
don t consider this. Often teens feel like they have to change the way they look or keep up with
popular trends just to feel like they are good enough. Teens scroll through their phone for ages
looking at other peoples posts thinking wow their so pretty or they have such an exiting life , this
can make teens feel like they need to live up to the standard of there internet role models. People

Green Design
John A. Walker argues that designers must undertake an ecological role. Arguably, humanity is re
designing the planet Earth every hour of every day, either deliberately by rational planning or
inadvertently with billions of unconsidered actions, and in the main ruining it. We all carry a
responsibility for the destruction and therefore we all need to mend our ways, but of course some
groups within society have more power than others to take remedial action: engineers, architects,
planners and designers for instance. If they became pro active rather than re active, they could play
a crucial role: their skills, imagination and ingenuity could help preserve the planet for future
generations. Green or ecological design is one positive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And on May 12 this year the Design Museum held a well attended conference entitled Green
Design Beyond the Bandwagon? which included speakers from Zanussi, Volvo, New Consumer
Magazine, Design Week and the Labour Party. An Ecological Design Association has been
founded in Britain with the intention of encouraging training, professional standards, product
testing and ecodesign in general. In terms of transportation, green design ranged from changes in
the engines of conventional cars to take unleaded petrol and to reduce fuel consumption, to
Anthony Howard s Africar (a cheap, wooden vehicle designed for Africa). Volvo in Sweden
renewed its long term commitment to making environmentally friendly cars and buses, while
Renault in France designed an electric car. Modifying existing vehicles is a step in the right
direction but it does nothing to limit the ever growing number of cars on the roads. If population
growth has to be limited, so does the growth in cars. Many greens would prefer to walk and cycle
or to use public transport. Once the will exists to improve and expand the latter, many more
opportunities for the green transport designer will occur. Fashion also witnessed changes during the

Change Management Process In The Movie Miracle On Ice
In the movie Miracle on Ice , Coach Herb Brooks takes his team in the National Hockey League
through the Kotter s 8 Step Change Management Process to become successful in the Winter
Olympic Games of 1980. Many of Herbs actions and techniques seem to be unorthodox at first,
but people soon began to realize that the changes that were made did in fact make a difference.
These changes led to the USA victory against the Soviets and all together the 1980 Olympics.
This paper will discuss how Brooks takes the organization through these 8 changes. The first step
in the change process is to create a sense of urgency. Coach Herb originally starts this step out in
his interview for the head coaching position of the USA team. He brings to the table that he
wants to change the entire process that the teams usually go through. These changes include not
relying on players that just have talent, using a team chemistry to drive teamwork, longer/harder
workouts, use different playing strategies and using less experienced players. These created a
sense of urgency to the board he was presenting to because using less experienced players while
initiating changes that had never been done before would possibly take longer and need more
work than their usual process. Secondly, forming a powerful coalition would be the next step in the
change process for Coach Herb to follow, which would include getting people to support the
changes he is going to make. In the beginning, Herb did not have much

the hurt and neglect in which Sedaris and his siblings experience from their drunken mother and

Why Can t Kmart Be Successful While Target and Walmart Thrive?
What drives some companies to succeed while others languish? Successful companies develop a
system of a few truly unique capabilities that help them create differentiated value for their chosen
customers.
Retailers provide many case studies in capabilities driven success, one of the most compelling of
which is the big discounter triad of Walmart, Target and Kmart. And in this fourth quarter retail
season, we thought it would be helpful to take a closer look at what really distinguishes these
competitors because they provide valuable insight into the key components of a winning corporate
strategy.
We believe that all successful companies Walmart and Target included ... Show more content on

Walk through a Kmart store and you ll discover designers like Jaclyn Smith in the low budget
ambience of a warehouse. They carry Kenmore appliances, which may require high touch sales
assistance that many Sears customers expect and many Kmart stores lack. In short, Kmart has not
established an identifiable way to play that reflects both customers needs and its own capabilities.
Harry Cunningham, the founder of Kmart, allegedly admitted that Sam Walton (the founder of
Walmart) not only copied our concepts, he strengthened them.
The lack of a clear concept about how to reach the market, in our view, is the single most
important factor in explaining why Kmart s fortunes have fallen so far, compared to its two rivals.
Without a clear way to play, and capabilities to support it, a company cannot achieve the coherence
it needs to truly excel at what it does, and thus outpace competitors.

Kmart (sometimes stylized as K Mart), is an American chain of discount stores headquartered in the
United States. The chain purchased Sears in 2005, forming a new corporation under the name Sears
Holdings Corporation. The company was founded in 1962 and is the third largest discount store
chain in the world, behind Walmart and Target, with stores in the United States, Puerto Rico, the
U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam (which houses the world s largest Kmart).[2] As of January 29,

Overview of Assisted Living Facilities
Abstract
Assisted living is a fairly new and unique part of the long term care continuum of services. The
goal of assisted living is to maximize the independence of older adults while living in a homelike
environment. This paper will provide an overview of assisted living facilities including the
number of facilities and residents, costs, services, and growth expectations. Challenges with
oversight and regulations will be discussed as well as solutions to the problem. Challenges and
solutions for staffing and training issues will also be discussed. The paper will also highlight In
Loving Hands Assisted Living which is a local assisted living facility that I called and visited to aid
in my research. I will give an overview of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Code of Maryland regulations)
According to the National Center for Assisted Living, (2001) assisted living facilities are typically
stand alone facilities, but can often be a part of another facility within the long term continuum of
care such as a nursing home, senior housing complex, retirement community, or independent
living apartments. Assisted living facilities are different in appearance than nursing homes and
other facilities in that they tend to offer a more home like environment. These residences may be
condominiums, a residential house, or apartments with personalized decorations and room
layouts. They typically offer common areas for dining and activities. Approximately half of ALF
s are non profit, with the other half being for profit facilities. Very few assisted living facilities
are government run. Because licensing regulations vary from state to state, ALF s can be known
by various names including residential care, board and care, domiciliary care, personal care etc.
Assisted living facilities offer different levels of care depending on the amount of assistance the
resident requires. Most of these providers are licensed at level three, which means they can accept
patients with low, moderate, or high care needs (University of Maryland,

The And Writing Of An Audience By Linda Flower, Getting...
Chapter 2 defined three stages in the writing process which are Writing for an Audience by Linda
Flower, Getting Started by Anne Lamott, and Writing to Change the World by Mary Pipher which
are all important articles as narrated by each author. After I have read all these three steps, I chose
getting started in writingas the most important stage and I will show you the readers how I came
about this statement through Anne Lamott s article. Lamott provided knowledge, references
and experiences on the way to get started and how to be at ease on what to write for students and
would be writers. The first thing to consider is how does one get to start writing. I consider
myself not that good at writing, especially in English, for I am bilingual. Even so, I read from
one article that if you just write for your assignment, it is not good enough, you need to write for
yourself to see if you can do it. Lamott states the biggest challenge for students is simply getting
started. As a student myself, I find myself lost on where to begin and very scared of filling out
three pages to five pages. Paragraph 9 tells you to sit down on your writing desk with paperand pen
or sit by your computer with a blank page with your hands on the keyboard. This is the hard part
where you try and come up with a topic to talk about. It does not come to you right away while
you are sitting down because you can t think right away. Distractions like things happening like you

Outline Of A Child Immunization
Destiny Caldwell
Mr. Nordlund
Honors English I
May 21, 2015
Child Immunization:
Diseases Becoming More Prevalent in Children Vaccines are crucial in a child s life.
Immunizations and vaccines help prevent future diseases such as pneumonia, polio, and HPV.
Polio is a disease that can cause paralysis (Poliomyelitis). This disease is most commonly found in
Nigeria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan (Childhood). One out of every five children in Pakistan don t
have their necessary vaccines and immunizations (Childhood). In rural areas 2/3 of their children
don t get their vaccinations (Childhood). Pakistan health issues are mainly due to the slow
economic growth. They can t pay for the health advancements because they don t have the funds.
After the U.S. killed Osama bin Laden who was found in Pakistan, the Talibanbanned the polio
vaccine which will affect thousands of children(Park). The growth of child immunization, the
structure of Pakistan, and the contrast between Pakistan and the U.S. all show what influences
fluctuations in child immunizations. Child immunizations have grown over the past few
centuries. In most countries they are 100% free of certain diseases due to new developments of
vaccines. Many disease don t have a cure but can be prevented at an early stage. At least 103
million cases of childhood diseases have been prevented by vaccines since 1924... (Vaccine
vindication). Polio was an epidemic in the twentieth century until 1955 when by Jonas Salk created

Economic Globalization And Its Impact On The World
Economic globalization is one of the most powerful forces to have shaped the postwar world.
(Frieden, Lake and Broz 63) Free trade is the hallmark of a globalized system; reduced costs in
transport and the elimination of trade barriers have led to a surge of international trade between
developed countries and lesser developed countries. The benefits of free trade extend
internationally. Free trade promotes economic development in lesser developed countries and
increases imports to developed nations. But does this system of global trade benefit only
manufactures and businesses or does it open up the market to everyone by creating new global
business opportunities for the developing world. Free trade occurs when there are no artificial
blockades put in place by governments to restrict the flow of goods and services between trading
countries. When trade barriers, such as tariffs and subsidies are put in place, they protect domestic
producers from international competition and redirect, rather than create trade flows. (Edge, n.d.)
The problem with trade barriers and protectionism in general are the fact that the current world
monetary system encourages financial market integration. The delegates who met at Bretton Woods
in 1944 had a design for the world monetary system that explicitly did not accord financial markets
the presumption that was accorded trade in goods, the presumption was that international
integration was good and that barriers should be liberalized as rapidly

Essay about Baby Boomers Are Jealous
Baby Boomers are Jealous
Generation X ers have been described as quot;fanatically independent individuals pathologically
ambivalent about the future, and brimming with unsatisfied longings for permanence, for love, and
for material possessions. quot;
(Lauren, p.64) This less than flattering description of our generation has since been expanded by
the media to the point that myself and my peers are described as a bunch of apathetic slackers
unconcerned with family values, godless cynics resentful of the preceding generations.
Since Douglas Coupland s Book Generation X came out in 1991, many things have been said about
the twentysomethings. Labeled by Coupland and the media as Generation X. Although the name
has stuck, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(Carnoy, p.80)
Examples proving that Generation X is not a bunch of slackers are prevalent all through our
society today. Swing, Might, Paper, Curio, and myriad other magazines are all published by X ers,

In truth, we hope to be a grassroots lobbying force for our age group. quot; (TAG,

Special Weapons Primer Analysis
What happens during a nuclear bombing? Grace Period and Special Weapons Primer gives us
insight on the occurances shortly after a bombing. Grace Period reveals an inside view of the
event, while Special Weapons Primer supplies scientific evidence. The bombings can be
identified by some very characteristic signs. Nuclear bombs are lethal. If you are close enough
to observe the effects of the bombing, you will likely die. The man featured in Grace Period is
about to experience the effects of a nuclear bomb. He does not know what is going to happen, but
he feels uneasy. [He] feels as if for an instant everything is stretched just slightly (Baker, 1992, p.7),
it is an unsettling feeling when solid ground moves. The feeling continues,

Part A Sole Proprietorship: A type of business that is owned by and run by one person with no
legal difference between the business and the owner. It is easy to form with no cost or time to
initiate. It gives the owner the ability to self govern the business. There are drawbacks; only one
owner can be established not allowing a partner. Also, unlimited liability puts the owner s
personal assets in jeopardy with the creditors. В·LIABILITY The owner is held responsible for
all debts and expenses accrued by the company via the concept of unlimited liability. If the
expenses and debts aren t satisfied, the owner of the business can be sued for breach of contract.

that doesn t include the surnames of the partners; an assumed name certificate must be filed in the

В·CONVENIENCE or BURDEN General partnerships are easy to establish and dissolve. All
partners share gains, losses, and all liabilities. Limited Partnership: This partnership consists of a
blend of both general and limited partners. This kind of agreement/partnership lets the general
partner manage the entire operation, but they are still fully liable for debts. The limited partner only
invests his/her money, and can only lose what they invested. В·LIABILITY The general partner has

The Keirsey Temperament Sorter
Every person has a personality that is so complex that it cannot be described completely and
accurately just through personality tests. My personality may seem a bit spontaneous at times,
but it is usually stable. I see myself as an angry person who just wants things to work out in the
end. I was characterized as a Guardian by the Keirsey Temperament Sorter, and I agree with this
result. Although it may seem as if I am detached or uninterested, in the end I always want to
make sure everyone is happy. A lot of my friends and some of my siblings have told me that I act
to much like their mom, since I tend to get over protective of those around me. But in order to
appear cool and unaffected, I tend to pretend that I do not care for others. It

  • 2. The Biological Weapons Of The Field Of Biotechnology hnology can be defined as using living organism or their components to change or create material for specialized use. Biotechnology is a relatively new term but it has been used for centuries in a variety of civilizations (Gossett KГ¤hler, 2014). The field of molecular biology has drastically progressed the field of biotechnology essentially operating on higher order of magnitude than our ancestors. With more knowledge of genetic material and metabolic functions, scientists have been capable of extraordinary feats from gene therapy to genomic sequencing. The advancements in biotechnology and in other research areas has also increased the potential misuse of scientific research that could be used to harm humanity and the world instead of help it. This concept has been dubbed dual use research and defined to be technology that could be used for general public and combat purposes (Rath et al., 2014). The possible usage of biological weapons (BW) has increased with growing technology and disputes amongst nations. The use of genetic engineering has greatly opened opportunities for specifically generated weapons to be produced. The Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) has stopped production and storage of BW but select parties are permitted to study and perform research on potential BW as long as it s for neutral or beneficial objectives (Biological Weapons Convention, 2001). These conditions have inflicted major concern within the general public and inaugurated major ethical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparing Christian Bible And The Sky World Creation Story There are several different theories as to how the earth came to be, there are similarities and differences with some of them. It is very clear that there are indeed differences in the stories, along with similarities. Many people are familiar with the Christian Bible version; the earth was created in seven days, Adam was created then Eve from his rib. However, not nearly as many people have heard of the Sky Worldcreation story. Both stories have a tree with something forbidden about it. In the Christian story the character may not eat the fruit which grows from the tree; in the Sky World story the character may eat all the fruit she wish, however, you may not touch the roots or do anything to harm the tree. In both stories there is someone who rebels and does what they were not supposed to with the trees. The woman in Sky World dug to find the roots of the tree and she fell through the bottom of sky world; in the Bible story the fruit was eaten. In both stories, the people were punished in some way. It is easy to see that the all powerful god in the Christian creation story is a ruthless and unforgiving leader, whereas the creator of earth in the sky world story was a loving mother and caring person. There isn t much realism in either story, however, there are morals and it is easy to see the differences in morals. The sky world story teaches forgiveness, patience, kindness, nurturing, and many other things that are valuable for people to learn. In the Bible story, however, it is taught that if you make a mistake or are tempted you should be punished horribly, it also teaches fear and that you should do as you re told because you are afraid, not because you are a good ... • 5. I M an Entertainment Person The term mise en scene is used to signify the director s control over what appears in the film frame (1) and covers such elements as setting, lighting, costume and the movement and actions of figures appearing within the film. The iconic Citizen Kane (Welles, 1941), a biopic that traces the life of fictional newspaper magnate Charles Kane, uses the elements of mise en scene to reinforce loss as a recurring theme throughout the film. As a faceless reporter goes about collecting personal recounts of Kane, the stories told suggest that throughout the majority of his life, Kane was moving inevitably toward [an inner state of] bitterness, disappointment and loss (2). The first flashback scene shown (set at Kane s childhood home) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After watching it, and knowing more about true appreciation of film I get it, so to speak. Watching a film takes so much more than just escaping from your own life for a few hours. Being able to turn your brain off and say, Ok. I get to live in this other world for the day. This is my life for a day. Film is only about escaping in the sense that a message must escape from the scenes, and the story as a whole. It may never cross the lips of any of the characters, or be written in white on a black screen (as in black and whites), and it won t be mystically entered into your computerized mind, or sent as a message to your iPhone. No...to get the message of the film you have to watch and know what to look for the subtle nuances and the mise en scene, everything that is in a particular frame, because those are the clues and you are the detective. You must find universal truth and your own personal growth from what you take from the movie. Some movies do a poor job of sending a message and those are the movies that people watch and forget to learn from them. Other are too complex. Citizen Kane is perfect because you can learn everything you ever needed to know about how to analyze a film from it, and it is such a beautifully simple story, with complex characters, making the everyday important, just as it should be in our own lives. • 6. Midst Of Weakness Essay God: There in the Midst of Weakness It was my senior year of high school in the small town of Gardendale, Alabama. This was the year the girls varsity soccer team was expected to go all the way to the finals, and make a hard run at the state championship title. We had made it to the third round, and after this game we were heading north to Huntsville, Alabama for the quarter finals. Except, in an instant, this all changed after one practice, two days before our game, when our principal showed up with some heartbreaking news. We no longer had a shot at the championship title because someone on our team had broken the rules; therefore, we had been kicked out of the playoffs. This filled me with anger, hatred, and resentment towards that one person. I became a very bitter version of myself until God showed me a new path to walk down in the following week. My story beings on the Friday night before our first playoff game. My dad asked me to go to our city soccer fields to get a corner flag for the game tomorrow at the school. When I got to the fields one of my best friends texts me and says, Hey! Are high school players allowed to play on teams other than the high school team? I was confused. No they are definitely not, but was she talking about one of my teammates or someone we were supposed to play against? I storm out onto the field to see if I know who is breaking such a big rule and my mind is blown when I see one of my own teammates out on the field playing. So much is running through my mind, Do I say something to her? Do I tell my coach? What will this do to our chances of playing in the championship? All these thoughts, yet I stand on the field frozen from anger at the fact that this person thinks it s okay to break a rule in order to benefit herself. So I did what anyone like me would do and I confronted her, Do you really think it is okay that you are out here playing when our high school season is still going on? She stares at me with no emotion on her face, says absolutely nothing, and just walks away acting as if she had done no wrong. I left the fields that night with all those questions about what to do still circling about in my mind and some new thoughts popping up, I am the only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Vargas reassures Quinlin that he wont he won t have any trouble with him, Quinlin responds with, you bet your sweet life I wont. The shot ends with a second of silence focused from below on Quinlin s shadowed face. The use of shadows is also a key element of film noir, which helps to create the dark and mysterious world that surrounds the characters. Quinlin increasingly represents a common character in film noir. Although he is a strong character in the eyes of his fellow officers, he is portrayed as a loner who has become disillusioned and insecure. His scenes with Tanya Tana (Marlene Deitrich) are revealing of Quinlin s past and his downward spiral since then. She comments that she didn t recognize him and that he should lay off the candy bars making it obvious that Quinlin has physically deteriorated since they were at one time involved. • 8. The Qualities Of Brando s Acting Both authors examined the qualities of Brando s acting that made his acting memorable. Neves investigated Brando s acting style in the 1954 film On The Waterfront. Neves delved into how Brando s method acting approach strengthened his role and focused on the psychological complexity Brando gave to the character. Whereas Krasner wrote about Brando s role in the 1951 film A Streetcar Named Desire and explored specific details in his acting technique, such as his usage of mumbling and his rebellious wardrobe choices. Neves points proved to be the strongest, with his extremely in depth analysis and use of psychology to explain Brando s character s actions. In the future, historians could analyze how Brando s acting improved and became more memorable as he became older. Altogether, there were many reasons for Brando s memorability, as shown by Neves arguments that the method style enhanced his acting, and as shown in Krasner s arguments that precise details in his acting made him memorable, and further information on his memorability could be gained by studying how his acting became better over time. Neves addressed the question of Brando s memorability by examining his acting in the 1954 movie On The Waterfront. Neves uses hearings by Elia Kazan (director of On the Waterfront) by the House Committee of Un American Activities as a primary source. Originally headed by Alfred Rosenburg, the Nazis took over the institution when Hitler rose to power and it became known as the Reichskulturkammer in 1933. The RKK was created to combat cultural influence that did not further Germanness . A division of the RKK became known as the Reichsmusikammer, or the RMK, that was used to censor music all throughout Germany. The only problem with the RMK was that it was entirely run by men with almost no musical background. • 10. The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism Essay No.1 Weber has been considered as an expert on origination of capitalism. His most famous work is The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism. Weber thesis regarding capitalism is rather considered as an argument counter to Marxist thesis (which was regarding primacy of base over superstructure). Weber discussed in his book that capitalism was resulted by Protestantism which was a religious movement or more specifically speaking Calvinism. However any Calvinist who has gone through catechism would have known that seeking a sign of selection by God in economic success, is not a right thing to do; therefore it is a travesty to Weber s thesis (Kilcullen, 1996). One expects Weber to Capitalism is a result of Protestantism or to be more specific, Calvinism. Calvinism believes God has granted few with salvation whereas others have to go through damnation. This virtue isn t dependent on their good or bad actions / deeds but because God wanted it in a certain way. This belief made believers of Calvinism worried about their salvation and made them invest more efforts into economic success. This, in turn, made them believe that they were the chosen favourites of God. Furthermore, the profits made by Calvanists were re invested into the business for further profits rather than self indulgence. Hence, the concept of Protestant ethic came into place which generally refers to desire of having enormous economic success and will of working hard. This concept of work ethic ... Though the subject matter has remained the same, the methods and techniques of these depictions have been subject to change. Sculptures of the Renaissance featured similar structural and visual elements, even when created in different countries, several years apart. When Virgin and Child, a French sculpture from the 1300 s, is compared to Madonna and Child on the Crescent Moon, a German sculpture from the 1500 s, techniques and elements typical of the Renaissanceare found in both. The majority of similarities are found in their visual and formal structure due to the sculptures shared time period of the Renaissance. Virgin and Child and Madonna and Child on the Crescent Moon are both representational and realistic, but neither of their realism goes far enough to become naturalism. The use of the s curve and the great attention that was given to crafting the small details in the folds of the fabric of both sculptures is greatly indicative of the influence of the Renaissance. The content and pose of the sculptures also share similarities. The most obvious lies in the subjects of the sculpture: Mary holding the baby Jesus. In both sculptures, Jesus caresses his mother s face. This act humanizes Mary and her child, and creates an emotional expression that was unusual for religious sculptures created before that time. Though the objects depicted are not the same, the sculptures include an additional element that is full of symbolism: the fleur de lys and a crescent moon. The cultural and historical contexts of these pieces are where the differences between the two returns. Over the years they have come out with a variety of different flavors including chocolate, French toast and a very popular s mores version. Our guest star featured is Sara Picklesimer, a University of Louisville graduate and now currently a doctoral student at the University of Connecticut in the field of communication. She was born in Pinesville, Kentucky, and started off as a biology major before realizing her passion was communication after taking her first public speaking course. She now teaches a gender and communication course here at the University of Connecticut, which ties in gender through music and a variety of other aspects in relation to communication. She gives us her expert lecture on two primary topics related to perception: thin slicing and the impact and effect of gender on the ways in which we communicate. Professor Stifano mentioned some of the foundations of perception that we have discussed in our lecture, including selective attention and perceptual filters. Not only is there a conflicting dissonance between the diegetic and non diegetic sound as discussed previously, this element is equally present within the incidental music itself. Combining a huge assortment of audio techniques, varying greatly in style, tone, and tempo, the background score is erratic and unpredictable and it injects the film with a volatile, unrelenting feel. Futuristic melodies, distorted and muffled noise, screeching static sounds, pulsating beats, siren like music, pounding, banging, grating, and soft, echoing tunes are all combined and jumbled together at different times, never letting the audience get comfortable with anything it hears. This effect is amplified by suddenly starting and stopping, changing speeds, and alternating levels of volume to the already perplexing and unnerving soundtrack. Thus, to be compatible with the accuracy of gyros and accelerometers currently in use, a rate table system must be capable of measuring and controlling angular velocities down to the order of 0.001 degree per second. Single Axis test tables provide precise angular position, rate and acceleration for development and production testing of inertial components and systems. What is Gyroscope? Micro machined inertial sensors, consisting of accelerometers and gyroscopes are one of the most important types of silicon based sensors. A gyroscope is a device for measuring or maintaining orientation, based on the principles of angular momentum. The Gyroscope developed at GIKI is a thermally actuated 3 DoF micro machined gyroscope utilizing Chevron thermal actuators to drive proof mass. There are a number of actuation mechanisms which include electrostatic, piezoelectric, thermal etc. The benefits of this design will be described later. These actuators are activated by Joule heating. When a potential difference is applied between two or more points on electrically conducting material it causes flow of electrical current which induces thermal strain due to internal heating. Consequently these thermal strains generate the desired mechanical deformation or force. These thermal actuators are capable of providing a large force. There are two types of thermal actuators: hot/cold ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was a good leader that backed up his claims to the public with action, but he is not without fault when discussing how he lost the war. One of the mistakes that led to Hitler losing the war was his overconfidence in his Luftwaffe at the Battle of Dunkirk. Another reason Hitler lost World War II was because he declared war on the U.S, believing that his army was more powerful. Furthermore, an additional error made by Hitler that led to the eventual downfall of his empire, was him being overconfident in the Sixth Army at the Battle of Stalingrad. The battle was fought from July 17, 1942 until February 2, 1943. Overconfident in their strength, Hitler ordered the Sixth Army to stay in Stalingrad instead of retreating. To compare Martin Luther s and John Calvin s view on the subject of a sinful person, I thoroughly looked into their common doctrines and considered how they differ in implementing the rules that manage their ideology. I was able to conclude that even though Luther and Calvin shared similar doctrines, their conceptualization and interpretation of those doctrines is very different. Based on their opinions of sinners, I further realized that not only do they have divergent interpretations of similar doctrines, but they also have different ambitions and their personalities are extreme opposites. Luther often blamed the flesh, which Protestants refer to as our sinful nature (they believed is the cause of human impurities), for the sins of every human and he gave credit to the Spirit for every good things that man does. The Reformers and the Protestants believe that there are two types of spirits: the Holy Spirit, which they proclaim to be the spirit of God, and the human spirit, which is the part of humans that opens up to the spirit of God. • 44. Kmart Why Can t Kmart Be Successful While Target and Walmart Thrive? What drives some companies to succeed while others languish? Successful companies develop a system of a few truly unique capabilities that help them create differentiated value for their chosen customers. Retailers provide many case studies in capabilities driven success, one of the most compelling of which is the big discounter triad of Walmart, Target and Kmart. And in this fourth quarter retail season, we thought it would be helpful to take a closer look at what really distinguishes these competitors because they provide valuable insight into the key components of a winning corporate strategy. We believe that all successful companies Walmart and Target included ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Walk through a Kmart store and you ll discover designers like Jaclyn Smith in the low budget ambience of a warehouse. They carry Kenmore appliances, which may require high touch sales assistance that many Sears customers expect and many Kmart stores lack. In short, Kmart has not established an identifiable way to play that reflects both customers needs and its own capabilities. Harry Cunningham, the founder of Kmart, allegedly admitted that Sam Walton (the founder of Walmart) not only copied our concepts, he strengthened them. The lack of a clear concept about how to reach the market, in our view, is the single most important factor in explaining why Kmart s fortunes have fallen so far, compared to its two rivals. Without a clear way to play, and capabilities to support it, a company cannot achieve the coherence it needs to truly excel at what it does, and thus outpace competitors. http://blogs.hbr.org/cs/2010/12/why_cant_kmart_be_successful_w.html Kmart (sometimes stylized as K Mart), is an American chain of discount stores headquartered in the United States. The chain purchased Sears in 2005, forming a new corporation under the name Sears Holdings Corporation. The company was founded in 1962 and is the third largest discount store chain in the world, behind Walmart and Target, with stores in the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam (which houses the world s largest Kmart).[2] As of January 29, 2011, Kmart ... • 45. Overview of Assisted Living Facilities Abstract Assisted living is a fairly new and unique part of the long term care continuum of services. The goal of assisted living is to maximize the independence of older adults while living in a homelike environment. This paper will provide an overview of assisted living facilities including the number of facilities and residents, costs, services, and growth expectations. Challenges with oversight and regulations will be discussed as well as solutions to the problem. Challenges and solutions for staffing and training issues will also be discussed. The paper will also highlight In Loving Hands Assisted Living which is a local assisted living facility that I called and visited to aid in my research. I will give an overview of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Code of Maryland regulations) According to the National Center for Assisted Living, (2001) assisted living facilities are typically stand alone facilities, but can often be a part of another facility within the long term continuum of care such as a nursing home, senior housing complex, retirement community, or independent living apartments. Assisted living facilities are different in appearance than nursing homes and other facilities in that they tend to offer a more home like environment. These residences may be condominiums, a residential house, or apartments with personalized decorations and room layouts. They typically offer common areas for dining and activities. Approximately half of ALF s are non profit, with the other half being for profit facilities. Very few assisted living facilities are government run. Because licensing regulations vary from state to state, ALF s can be known by various names including residential care, board and care, domiciliary care, personal care etc. Assisted living facilities offer different levels of care depending on the amount of assistance the resident requires. Most of these providers are licensed at level three, which means they can accept patients with low, moderate, or high care needs (University of Maryland, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The And Writing Of An Audience By Linda Flower, Getting... Chapter 2 defined three stages in the writing process which are Writing for an Audience by Linda Flower, Getting Started by Anne Lamott, and Writing to Change the World by Mary Pipher which are all important articles as narrated by each author. After I have read all these three steps, I chose getting started in writingas the most important stage and I will show you the readers how I came about this statement through Anne Lamott s article. Lamott provided knowledge, references and experiences on the way to get started and how to be at ease on what to write for students and would be writers. The first thing to consider is how does one get to start writing. I consider myself not that good at writing, especially in English, for I am bilingual. Even so, I read from one article that if you just write for your assignment, it is not good enough, you need to write for yourself to see if you can do it. Lamott states the biggest challenge for students is simply getting started. As a student myself, I find myself lost on where to begin and very scared of filling out three pages to five pages. Paragraph 9 tells you to sit down on your writing desk with paperand pen or sit by your computer with a blank page with your hands on the keyboard. This is the hard part where you try and come up with a topic to talk about. It does not come to you right away while you are sitting down because you can t think right away. • 47. Outline Of A Child Immunization Destiny Caldwell Mr. Nordlund Honors English I May 21, 2015 Child Immunization: Diseases Becoming More Prevalent in Children Vaccines are crucial in a child s life. Immunizations and vaccines help prevent future diseases such as pneumonia, polio, and HPV. Polio is a disease that can cause paralysis (Poliomyelitis). This disease is most commonly found in Nigeria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan (Childhood). One out of every five children in Pakistan don t have their necessary vaccines and immunizations (Childhood). In rural areas 2/3 of their children don t get their vaccinations (Childhood). Pakistan health issues are mainly due to the slow economic growth. They can t pay for the health advancements because they don t have the funds. After the U.S. killed Osama bin Laden who was found in Pakistan, the Talibanbanned the polio vaccine which will affect thousands of children(Park). The growth of child immunization, the structure of Pakistan, and the contrast between Pakistan and the U.S. all show what influences fluctuations in child immunizations. Child immunizations have grown over the past few centuries. In most countries they are 100% free of certain diseases due to new developments of vaccines. Many disease don t have a cure but can be prevented at an early stage. At least 103 million cases of childhood diseases have been prevented by vaccines since 1924... (Vaccine vindication). • 48. Economic Globalization And Its Impact On The World Economic globalization is one of the most powerful forces to have shaped the postwar world. (Frieden, Lake and Broz 63) Free trade is the hallmark of a globalized system; reduced costs in transport and the elimination of trade barriers have led to a surge of international trade between developed countries and lesser developed countries. The benefits of free trade extend internationally. Free trade promotes economic development in lesser developed countries and increases imports to developed nations. But does this system of global trade benefit only manufactures and businesses or does it open up the market to everyone by creating new global business opportunities for the developing world. Free trade occurs when there are no artificial blockades put in place by governments to restrict the flow of goods and services between trading countries. When trade barriers, such as tariffs and subsidies are put in place, they protect domestic producers from international competition and redirect, rather than create trade flows. (Edge, n.d.) The problem with trade barriers and protectionism in general are the fact that the current world monetary system encourages financial market integration. The delegates who met at Bretton Woods in 1944 had a design for the world monetary system that explicitly did not accord financial markets the presumption that was accorded trade in goods, the presumption was that international integration was good and that barriers should be liberalized as rapidly ...
