Too Much Stress in Teens Lives
It is no question that adults have large amounts of stress as a result of jobs, money, family issues
and the economy. What is often overlooked is how much stress and anxiety teens experience. It
is common knowledge that teens worry about school, grades, and sports; but this does not even
begin to scratch the surface of the amount of stress teens go through. Teens today feel pressure
from the whole of society to conform and to be popular or in style. Teens are also expected to
plan for, and have their future mapped out; whether that involves pursuing a career or starting a
family, or even both. All of these stresses can lead to a number of serious physical and mental
issues including low self esteem, self harm, and even thoughts of suicide. The worst part about
teen stress is that teens do not know how to handle it. They cannot cope with their changing
responsibilities and this leads to role conflict and their inability to react to situations properly.
The best thing a teen can do is find a way to control, regulate, and reduce the stress in their lives.
In comparison, teens today experience higher levels of stress from academics and an abundance
of extra curricular activities which is only made worse by teen s ineptitude to cope with these
expectations. Adults do experience high levels of stress, that is undeniable. They have to go to
work every day, which can be a stressful environment, then they come home and face a whole new
plethora of stress inducing aspects. The work

The Three Elements on Why People Commit a Crime
The Three Elements on Why People Commit a Crime There are many different meanings of
crime and many different reasons people commit crimes. In the United States, defense lawyers try
to prove their clients did not know what they were doing when they committed the crime and the
prosecution tries to prove the defendant did know what they were doing when they committed the
crime. However, the prosecution must have the elements of a crime, which means state of facts to
prove someone guilty. The prosecution lawyers and the defense lawyers use elements of a crime
for the defendant. The following are examples of elements of a crime: mens rea, autus reus,
concurrence of actus renus and mens rea. All of these can be used as elements of a crime.... Show

Sometimes, the defendant does not mean to commit a crime. Perhaps they were in defending
themselves or maybe it was it accident. Finally, all three elements of a crime can be used in a
criminal case. For example, Jacob Simmon believes that he will be charged with several crimes
(Hames Eken, 2009) Jacob Simmon threw a beer bottle and hit someone. Simmon did not mean to
hurt the man. All three elements of a crime were used: mens rea was used because he was reckless,
actus reus was used because he was not forced to throw the bottle and hit the guy. Concurrence of
the actus reus and mens rea was used even though he did not mean hurt the man he still can be
charged with a crime. (Hames Eken, 2009) In the United States a defendant is innocent until
proven guilty. Prosecution lawyers and defense lawyers must prove why the defendant committed
the crime, or if they did commit a crime. A prosecution cannot charge someone with a crime
unless they can prove someone committed a crime. Therefore, they use the three elements of a
crime. They used mens rea, actus reus, concurrence of the actus reus and mens rea. They can use
all three elements of a crime in a criminal case. These three elements of a crime will help to see
why the defendant

Gemini Research Papers
Gemini is the constellation I have chosen to use in my essay. The reason for that is my zodiac
sign is Gemini, and it s the constellation I am most familiar with. Gemini is composed of several
stars, the most popular being Pollux and Casper, the two heads of the constellation. The greek
myth where Gemini is orinated from is of two twin brothers the stars Pollux and Casper. The
constellation is seen between the constellations, Taurus and Cancer. The myth of the contellation
of Gemini features the twin brothers, Pollux and Casper. Mothered by Leda, but with different
fathers. Pollux was a god, fathered by Jupiter was immortal, while his brother Casper was a mortal
human. They faught in the Trojan War to bring their sister back to her husband. The brother s were
often depicted as riding twin white horses and armed with spears. Then, when Casper died, as all
mortals do, Pollux begged Jupiter to allowhim to share his immortality. Touched by... Show more

Risk Taker
What I understood from this article was the different type of risk takers is based upon the degree
of risks they are willing to take. Although Ron is a fictional character in this article, I have
known a lot of Ron in my life who lives for excitement. As described in the article, they like to
smoke, drink, do drugs, party every weekend and just live it up every day. So I ever wonder
what makes someone a risk taker. Someone who is a risk taker is someone who has a personality
trait called sensation seeking. The traits are the pursuit of novel, intense and complex sensations
and experiences, and the willingness to take risks for the sake of such experience. There is also
three levels to distinguish the different type of risk takers, which are... Show more content on

The environment outside of the home, such as accidental life experience and friends is accountable
for 40% of the environmental contribution to sensation seeking. Genes are involved due to the
personality traits they influence that is associated with risk taking like the traits of aggression,
agreeableness, aggression, sociability, the main component of extroversion. However, it is noted
genes make proteins that shape our nervous systems, but not directly make traits. Some biological
correlate of sensation seeking is dopamine and enzyme monoamine oxidase. Dopamine is an
important brain neurotransmitter awhile enzyme monoamine oxidase (MAO) is a regulator
keeping neurotransmitters in balance. Both of these biological genes are found in high impulsive
sensation seeking individuals. Dopamine is active in the brain s intrinsic reward and pleasure
centers, and also found in high proportion of opiate drug abusers. To high sensation seekers,
enzyme monoamine oxidase is low, implying a lack of regulation without any regard for
consequences, which is why men are proved higher risk takers than women. Since women levels
of enzyme monoamine oxidase are higher than men meaning the imply regulation. There is
always a positive and negative to everything, negative in the aspect too much of a high risk can
result in death. However not every risk is extreme to some, as low risk taking individuals have as
much experience like high risk taker. Some people find it in bungee jumping, relationship and sex,

Dissonance Theory To Change Eliza s Attitude Towards Soccer
Chris could use dissonance theory to change Eliza s attitude towards soccer. Dissonance theory
explains how people go about decreasing negative arousal caused by a mismatch of their
attitudes and behavior. Aronson and Carlsmith conducted a study in which two groups of kids
were asked to leave a not play with a toy, and then left alone with it. Only one group of kids were
told there would a consequence if they played with the toy. Kids from both groups left the toy
alone, but the kids in the non consequence group did not play with the toy even when they were
told they could. This was because they changed their attitude to explain why they hadn t played
with the toy to decrease dissonance caused by a mismatch in attitude and behavior. The second
group did not need to do this, as they had a sufficient external reason to leave the toy alone.
When Eliza wants to stop Chris could simply ask her to keep going. Since her father did not
suggest a consequence she is unlikely to attribute her behavior to his request. This creates
dissonance as her attitudes would suggest that she would not have continued to go to soccer, yet
she went anyway. Eliza will adjust her attitude to line up with her behavior to decrease dissonance
and she will come to believe that she enjoys soccer.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Ancient Civilization
The ancient Maya civilisation has generated great interest in many academic scholars and scientists,
due to the phenomenon which saw one of the most dramatic civilisation collapses in recorded
history, during what has been referred to as the Terminal Classic Period A.D. в€
ј700 to 950 (Haug
et al, 2003). Interestingly, the ancient civilisation has been characterised by its collapse in the 9th
century, perhaps even more so than its remarkable accomplishments, such as: creating vast
hierarchical and political structures, architecture and symbolic artwork (Masson, 2012). The Maya
empire comprised of indigenous populations, who were situated in North America, and inhabited
southern present day Mexico, Belize, El Salvador, Houndras and the semi tropical lowland
environment of Guatemala (Faust, 2001). The Maya collapse is an incredibly controversial topic,
which is still debated in society today. Many substantial arguments have been placed to explain the
fundamental cause of collapse, especially the downfall of the Maya lowland areas of the YucatГЎn
peninsular region, which was arguably affected the most significantly. Consequently, this essay will
examine the key hypotheses presented for the reasoning behind the collapse of the ancient Maya.
Focusing on: drought and whether its cause was due to natural climatic changes or anthropogenic
forcing, social factors such as, disease and war, and finally political and cultural issues, which may
have led to the Maya demise. Natural

Snowpeicer Essay
This paper examines different theories in relation to the video Snowpeicer. It seeks to show the way
the three identified theories manifest from the video and the impacts they create. The three theories
include structural functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. Even though the
theories are distinct, they are expressed in the one same movie analyzed in this study. Structural
Functionalism This theory looks at the society as a complex system with different parts that work
together in solidarity to promote peace and stability. The film Snowpeicer, written by Bong Joon
Ho gives different escapades of torture and punishment orchestrated by Mason. Even though there
is some sense of oneness as people travel together on the train, which indeed proves the world s
diversity, the rages of conflicts later ensue as the power are mistreated by the powerful individuals.
The poor are pushed to the ramshackle at the back by the armed border guards. The elites enjoy the
pleasure and freedom of moving in the train dictating that terms that govern the traveling. The

It is a true revelation that the environment created for people to live in determines their resultant

Entrepreneur: An entrepreneur is a person who starts an enterprise. He searches for change and
responds to it. A number of definitions have been given of an entrepreneur The economists view
him as a fourth factor of production along with land labour and capital.
To put it very simply an entrepreneur is someone who perceives opportunity, organizes resources
needed for exploiting that opportunity and exploits it. Computers, mobile phones, washing
machines, ATMs, Credit Cards, Courier Service, and Ready to eat Foods are all examples of
entrepreneurial ideas that got converted into products or services. Some definitions of an

Teamwork. Nobody can achieve anything alone so this is true also for an entrepreneur because
they re not a Superman . They must be team players for their own and business success. 9.
Calculated risk. This is truly one of the most important questions: Are they taking enough risk?
Yes, each business startup is in some level risky. However, more important is how a successful
entrepreneur takes a risk? The word calculated risk is the most appropriate word for this feature. 10.
Self Confidence. Self confidence is a really important and key factor. I think that nobody would be
an entrepreneur if don t have self confidence that he knows how to start and manage their own
business. 11. Experience. Sometimes experience is in category not must have as a factor, but it is
something that will increase business potential energy. They must employ all present and previous
experience they have into the business that they are building. 12. Talent. Talent is something inborn
in an entrepreneur. Sometimes talent can be replaced with knowledge. 13. Honesty. Honesty is

Health Issues In Middle Adulthood
Some of the health concerns that clients may face as they reach middle adulthood includes physical
development. One of the physical developments includes muscle loss. Maximum muscular strength
is attained between the ages of 25 and 30 and gradually declines at 30(Zastrow Kirst Ashman,
2016). Sight, hearing, and other senses began to decline. Health issues are a huge concern during
middle adulthood. There are some concerns due to lifestyle as a young adult such as breast cancer,
diabetes, hypertension, poor cholesterol. Also kidney function is reduced, gastrointestinal tract
secretes fewer enzymes, and the ability for the heart to pump blood (Zastrow Kirst Ashman, 2016).
In men they have problems with their prostate and women with breast cancer. Other physical
changes are appearances such as gray hair, crow s feet, and wrinkle lose skin.
A characteristic that might impact breast cancer is that white women are stands are at greater
risk of developing breast cancer than women of the African American race. However, African
American women are at greater risk to die from it. Asian, American Indian, and Hispanic women
have a lower risk of developing and dying from breast cancer (Zastrow Kirst Ashman, 2016).

Porter s Five Forces Analysis Of The Pharmaceutical Industry
Porter s Five Forces Analysis of Pharmaceutical Industry
Porter s Five Competitive Forces Analysis is a framework developed by Michael E. Porter of
Harvard Business School for study of industry analysis by analyzing five competitive forces which
define industry and its business strategy. These five competitive forces determine the competitive
advantages, disadvantages and attractiveness or profitability of industry.
We analyzed the Indian Pharmaceutical industry on these five forces and the findings of industry
competitiveness and profitability are written under the relevant competitive forces.
Bargaining Power of Buyers
In pharmaceutical industry, the end user of the product (patient) is different from the influencer
(doctor) influencing his decisions. This is a unique feature of pharmaceutical industry. Consumer

Personal Statement On Communication Skills
Many people are not aware of the communication skills that they lack, most will argue that they
have perfect communication skills. Taking interpersonal communication has taught me that my
skills are very poor. I walked in thinking there was nothing I can learn about communication and
realized that I know little to nothing about communication. Since starting this class I ve narrowed
the skills I need to work on to the following four which includes listening, being more supportive
and active, understanding, and improving my self concept. Although all four of these skills are
something I can improve I think listening is my main problem.
When I think of listening I relate it to just hearing the message. I do not follow the process of
listening that was taught in my communication class. Rather than receiving, recalling, rating, and
responding, I often hear and skip right to responding. I do believe that because I don t follow all
the steps I forget easily or do not understand things completely, which leads to me either
questioning later, or just winging it. I also realized that I have selective listening, because of lack
of interest in some conversations I often block out part of the conversation, or lose focus and zone
out until the end of the conversation. By then I know little of what was talked about and only
respond to what I think is most important to me. Another bad habit I have when it comes to
listening is my responding habits, I m not sure how to respond to most

The Racial Justice Social Movement
The Racial Justice Social Movement
Introduction
Civil Rights Movements recollections are responsible for shaping how people behave in society as
well as the numerous protests on human rights that are seen in present day. What was evidenced
back in the 1950s and 60s was focused on breaking racial barriers which were centered around
degrading, confining and marginalizing the minority population of the United States. The case is
relatively different in present day, what is conceptualized is a case of people supporting the
movement driven by different purposes. With the history of what transpired throughout time is
what shapes our daily politics. Social movements of the 19th and 20th Century are responsible for
shaping progressive thought. The movements were driven by the need for racial
disenfranchisement with legal requirements of segregation were constitutionally inconsistent with
a focus on its eradication. What was conceptualized back in the early 20th Century is a case
scenario where the women suffrage, environmental protection to dismantlement of Jim Crow laws.
These were considered as relatively utopian ideas but that is not the case in present day where
they are considered as being common sense. Radical issues for yester years have been considered
into mainstream policy formulation of present day. During the 20th Century, the whole process
reads as some of the most progress accomplishments until present day. The whole process of social
justice was conceptualized

King Louis Ix And Richard Lionheart
The Medieval period was perhaps one of the most interesting and unique time periods in history.
This time is usually viewed as a lull in progress or lacking productivity, when in reality this was
one of the most pivotal points in history. Two people who played outstanding roles in this time
period were those of King Saint Louis IX of Franceand Richard Lionheart I of England. Both King
Louis IX and Richard Lionheart made significant social, political, and cultural advancements to
society by contributing leadership techniques and government systems that were pivotal in the
Medieval times, yet very contrasting of each other in their execution.
King Louis IX of France was born April 25, 1214 in Poissy, France to the parents of Louis VIII of
France and Blanche of Castille. King Louis, commonly known as Saint Louis, ruled from the
age of twelve after his father s death in 1226 until his death in 1270. He was the fourth born
child, but the three before him died at young ages, and seven were born after him. As a child,
Louis had temper fits which lead to questioning of his decision making as king of France. He
married Margaret of Provence at age twenty in 1234. Margaret was the sister in law to King Henry
III of England, sisters with Eleanor of Provence.
Richard The Lionheart I of England was born September 8, 1157 in Beaumont Palace, Oxford,
England to the parents of Henry II, and Eleanor of Aquitaine. He was given the nickname Lionheart

Why Are Great Italian Renaissance Architects More Famous...
Why are great Italian Renaissance architects more famous than their great Gothic predecessors?
Discuss how and why the role and image of the architect changed during the Italian Renaissance.
The Renaissance is studded by the names of the artists and architects, with their creations recorded
as great historical events. Arthur Erickson
The end of the 14th century was the birth of Renaissance, which meant that Gothic architecture
began to wear off. The Renaissance period spread out across Europe. Along with the changes in
politics, beliefs, and ways of life, architecture and architects were also changing. A group of Italian
academics, some of whom were amateur architects, influenced the birth of Renaissance architecture.

The architects of this period solved the problems of heavy roof with few brilliant innovations such
as the flying buttress (a semi arch), piers, etc. The result was amazing: cathedrals could be higher,
thinner, and could have more windows, which led to brighter interiors. In my opinion, this was a
good base to start producing something more magnificent, more interesting, and other types of
architecture, besides just cathedrals.
Architects of the Renaissance period designed a large spectrum of civil structures like palaces,
libraries, villas, fountains, hospitals, bridges, etc. They built urban spaces which looked
magnificent and also a little frightening. The facade gives us a hint of what is happening inside: an
enormous central door indicates power, stonework shows strength, marble shows wealth, and so
on. One of the most recognizable features of Renaissance buildings is elegant interior courtyards
surrounded by two tiers of rounded arcades. One such example of a Renaissance building is the

Transfer pricing
Transfer pricing is a method of profit allocation mechanism through which firms increase their profit
after tax (PAT) metric by reducing the cumulative amount of taxes paid in different countries.
International firms have many subsidiaries located in different countries of the world. These
subsidiaries will be subject to tax levels as decided by the country in which they are located. If a
subsidiary is located in a country where the corporate tax levied is high (eg USA 35%, India 30%)
it has to pay high taxes compared to tax haven countries like Cayman island, Switzerland, UK and

20%. This is very low compared to the 30% tax slab in India.
It is because of these factors that Hindalco should move its headquarters to Switzerland and
channelize all its transactions through it.
Consolidation:
Commodity industry is highly driven by the supply demand gap. While this may be true for any
industry it is more pronounced in commodities and much more in electricity. The cost of storing the
finished goods (warehousing cost), insurance cost and the cost of locked capital is generally high
compared to any other industry. This forces the mining industry to follow the chase market strategy
where firms try to match their production levels to the demand. However, once a big plant or
mining facility is set up reducing the production levels reduces the operation cost only to a marginal
extent. This motivates the firm to keep the production levels high and reduce the selling price
which ultimately reduces the industry margin. This is exactly the position that the commodity
industry is right

A Pundit’s Solution to Fixing Drug Violence in Mexico Essay
Thomas Friedman, a biweekly column contributor for the New York Times, is a pundit who
throughout his career has made some bold claims about controversial issues in the news. Bestement
and Gutherson argue that a pundit is merely one who gives opinions in an authoritative manner ,
and that while they may speak convincingly, their skills as pundits lie in their ability... to learn
quickly about the broad contours of a wide range of subjects, and to project confidence and
authority in talking about them (Bestement, Gutherson 2005; 2,3). Since a pundit is one who uses
existing prejudices to explain complex issues to large audiences in a concise and very generalized
manner, inaccuracies are frequent in their arguments; but these inaccuracies... Show more content

The prohibition of drugs such as cocaine, opium, and marijuana is rooted in the racism and
xenophobia of the people of the United States. It was believed that cocaine consumption by the
black community could make them disregard the barriers that society had established between
different races , while Chinese were portrayed as assiduous opium smokers and Mexicans were
labeled as avid marihuana smokers (Recio 2002; 23,24). These faulty conceptions of the minorities
in the United States resulted in a new perception...that drug consumption could not be morally
accepted and therefore its use should be seriously restricted (Recio 2002; 24). Medical
professionals in the United States were strongly opposed to an all out ban of these drugs, but
eventually the United States congress passed the Harrison Act. This act was initially designed to
limit the availability of these narcotics by requiring a prescription from a physician to obtain
them. Later, United States congress passed the Volstead Act, which prohibited alcohol. In 1922 the
Harrison Act became a totally prohibitionist piece of legislation (Recio 2002; 25, 26). Immediately
after the Harrison Act and the Volstead Acts were passed, illegal drug traffickers took the place of
physicians in providing narcotics to the people who wanted them (Recio 2002; 26). In order to
prevent this, the United States government decided that if the country producing drugs

The Problem Of Pressure Ulcer Prevention
Conceptual Framework A framework is an abstract, logical structure of meaning, which guides
the development of the study and enables the researcher to link the findings to nursing s body of
knowledge. Every study has a framework, and in this study it is explicitly expressed. Drake and
colleagues (2012) inductively have studied and surveyed subjects on the matter of pressure ulcer
prevention. The concepts in the framework are (a) pediatric nurses knowledge of pressure ulcer
prevention, (b) beliefs and practices, (c) barriers and facilitators to providing evidence based
pressure ulcer preventive practices. Operational and conceptual definitions are used and are
consistently associated with one another. It is implied that enhancing nurses knowledge base,
disseminating guidelines, and generally improving the practices of nurses working with patients at
risk for impaired skin integrity will significantly enhance the quality of life for the patients.
Methods
The methods section of a research report tells the reader how the study was conducted, and it
should include the design of the study, ethical value of the study, sampling size, the measurements,
and the data that they collected. The study design of this article is an exploratory, descriptive study

Economic Recession Of 2009
The economic recession of 2009 pushed some financial institutions to bankruptcy. The banking
industry was also a victim of this economic hardship. Some solid institutions like Bank of America,
Trust Bank, and Wells Fargo take over other banks for different reasons: market power,
diversification, cost savings, and external growth. These banks acquire all the assets and the
liabilities of another bank. These banks obtained the property rights and new market power. This
research paper is to look at the economic advantages of the merger and to make some predictions.
These bank mergers can generate a great number of advantages. First, the economy of scale is one

A Brief Note On Preventative Medicine And Education
Preventative Medicine and Education Poor health and homelessness has been connected through
multiple studies. Having poor health can cause homelessness. On the flip side, being homeless can
also cause poor health. Being homeless brings a list of complications including limited access to
getting proper health care. This causes the health of the homeless population in the United States to
be worse than that of the general population. Common health problems in the homeless population
include: mental health problems, substance abuse problems, bronchitis and pneumonia, problems
caused by being outdoors, wound and skin infections, along with the complications that follow
each of the listed problems (Medicine Plus, 2016). Along with the list of problems previously
stated, many homeless women are victims of domestic or sexual abuse. Children often have high
rates of emotional and behavioral problems, many times caused from having witnessed abuse.
Studies have shown 31 46% report having a chronic medical problem. (NHCHC, 2001, p.1).
According to these statistics almost half of the homeless population are suffering from chronic
health problems. The majority of which will not receive proper care to cure the health problems.
The homeless population, in order to address the living challenges, they use extraordinary amounts
of human services. Visits to a facility that provides health care is much higher for a homeless person

Checks and Balances
Checks and Balances. Checks and balances is a system that is a part of out U.S. Constitution.
This system was put in to place so that no part of government would have too much power. The
three branches: judicial, legislative and executive are constantly granting and checking the other
branches actions, this is to make sure no one person can gain an excessive amount of control in
government. For example according to , the legislative branch is in charge of making laws. The
executive branch can veto the law, thus making it harder for the legislative branch to pass the law.
The judicial branch may also say that the law is unconstitutional and thus make sure it is not a
law.The legislative branch can also remove a president or judge that is not doing his/her job
properly. The executive branch appoints judges and the legislative branch approves the choice of
the executive branch. Again, the branches check and balance each other so that no one branch has
too much power . Senate rejected a president s nominee to the Supreme Court. The senate has
rejected a total of 12 nominees out of 159 nomination for Supreme Court Justice that presidents
have submitted for confirmation. In 1795 George Washington was the first president to have his
nomination for Chief Justice rejected. Robert Bork for Associate Justice nomination by Ronald
Reagan was the last to be rejected in 1987 by the senate. The Senate sometimes take their time
confirming nominees, which includes 24 they ve postponed.

Gender Roles And Sexuality In Plato s Symposium
Gender Roles and Sexuality of Classic Greek Society Throughout Plato s classical dialogue The
Symposium, the main topic of choice is that of love, this ranges from sexual love to ideological
love. Each character give their own take on what is love; some focus on the objects of love, others
the ideals that it represents. Platouses each and every speaker to further a dialogue of love,
relationships, as well as sexuality within the Athenian culture. Each person adds ideas as well as
ideals in order to piece together a greater picture of the virtues of love within greek society. Within
The Symposium, all of the guests were men, leading to focused discussions on male to male
sexuality and perspectives of physical love. However, Plato uses Socratesas a mouth for Diotima, a
woman, in order to give the most profound talk on the ideals of love. This is to contrast the talk of
love that mostly concerns physical love and homosexuality, Diotima s speaks of true love that can
apply to all forms rather than limiting it to physical, her philosophyon the virtues of love, sex and
sexuality go beyond that of every other speaker, developing the truth that Plato seeks to share about
the love and sexuality within greek culture, which is that upon the purest emotion of love, that

Theme Of Isolation In A Rose For Emily
Death and isolation are two things that affect each person differently. Isolation from the world
can cause damage on its own but with heartbreak and death together a person can do
unimaginable things. In the story A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner the main character Emily
shows how both death and isolation can affect ones mental health. Emily was isolated from others
by her father from the beginning of the story. Her father was very controlling and didn t think that
any man was good enough to marry her. In the story, it is said: We remembered all the young men
her father had driven away (28). This caused Emily to be isolated from others because she couldn t
find a man who her father thoughtwas suitable for marriage. The town had grown to believe that
Emily thought she was better than others because that is the way her familythought we believed
that the Griersons held themselves a little too high for what they really were (25). This
automatically caused the town to be more distant from Emily and her to only have one person
to depend on which began to affect her mental health because she felt as she only had her father.
Since no man was good enough for Emily she only had her father, when he died her first act that
showed signs of a bad mental health was done. In the story, it said: Miss Emily met them at the
door, dressed as usual and with no trace of grief on her face. She told them that her father was not
dead (27). Her father

The Omnipotence And Omniscience Of God Essay
William Maillis
PHL 111
Reaction Paper #2
Professor M. Scott Mayberry
13 December 2016
The Omnipotence and Omniscience of God
Does God exist in the universe, or does the universe exist in God? This is the question mankind
must answer when we discuss the attributes of God. Many times humanity attempts to place God in
the universe and placing universal laws and limitations on God, but God is not bound by the
laws of the universe, because the universe exists in God. If it true that God has created
everything than how can he be limited by anything? Only God could limit Himself, by His own
choice to do so. Thomas V. Morris in his article on the omnipotence of God asks; can God do
everything that is logically possible? Who s logic? Are we made in the Image and Likeness of
God, or are we attempting to make Him in ours? The difficulty is this: as humans, we are
imperfect, with our viewpoints so limited is it God we connect to, or merely our own
impression of Him? As imperfect humans, we know only ourselves. We connect to others, but
we can never truly go into anybody s mind but our own. Every person exists in a specific manner,
completely immersed in his individual awareness, which is egocentric and exclusive. As human
beings, we look towards reason and logic to try to understand existence and our place in it.
However, there is no human being who is omniscient, so therefore our logic can be flawed, so
what is logically possible?
In the article; Omniscience and human freedom: a

Text Messaging Is A Problem At School
Since the rise of the internet in the 1990s, and the sending of the first text message in 1992,
technology has rapidly become essential to our lives in the 21st century. Our generation relies on
phones to communicate instead of just talking in person or writing a letter. People are so connected
to the internet that we forget all the little things that matter around us. Some say that it does have
an impact on literacy, and others believe that it does not and that it is simply just another form of
the English language. The biggest problem is that text messagingis a problem at school. Slang is
damaging students writing and teachers are worried that children will bring slang words into the
classroom and their writing. Text messaging has become detrimental to academic literacy.
Cellphones have become one of the necessities in todays modern lifestyle for every teenager and
adult. People depend on cell phones for accomplishing their day to day activities in their
professional and personal lives. Everyday over 5 billion text messages are sent. People are so
engaged in sending things to their friends at a rapid speed. People walk around with their fingers
glued to their phones and not caring about anything else in the world. Phones are causing this fear
that text messaging language will soon replace the standard English language and young people
will become unable to use the language properly. Most Americans (adults and students) cannot go

Clients are more and more oriented to the more rentable channels like internet and ATMs. Virtual
banks consequently deliver a lot of services but only through internet that allow to reduce costs in
occupancy and salaries in order to offer better rates of interest (to 3 times better than averages).
Virtual low costs positioned banks compete against other virtual banks with good customer service,
in house costumer data and service center operations, strong management teams, a good mix of
attractively priced products, and low marketing costs. It s a price competition which includes lower
margins directly.
What about the entry barriers with potential entrants? It is a low threat. The largest barrier to
entry is the expenses in founding a bank: a new bank needs to raise 8 12 million to begin
operations. But start up costs for virtual banks are much less expensive than for traditional banks:
virtual banks could begin operations for millions less than traditional banks (no offices, etc.) ,
even though they ll have to invest a lot in marketing and advertising budgets in order to attract
depositors at the start up time. The second barrier is loyalty to older, larger, and more established
brand name banks. Here we can talk about a network effect. And third, an existing bank holding
company provides investments and backing for the new bank by spinning off a separate banking
entity.

Environmental Economics Exam
Take Home Exam
Exercise 1
(a)
If the emissions in the area are left unregulated then the two factories will emit as much as they
can, which means there will be zero abatement (MAC=0). So we have:
Factory A: MACA=0 4000 EA=0 EA=4000
Factory B: MACB=0 4000 4EB=0 EB=1000
For the socially optimal level of emissions we have:
MACA=4000 EA EA=4000 MACA
MACB=4000 4EB EB=1000 0,25MACB
By adding the above by parts we get:
E=5000 1,25MAC MAC=4000 0,8E
The socially optimal level of emissions is where MAC equals MD, therefore:
MAC=MD 4000 0,8E*=1,7E* 4000=2,5E* E*=1600
(b)
First, we must find the excess demand for permits for each factory. In order to do this, we must
assume 2 prices for each factory.
Factory A:
If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, we have:
MAC=MD 360 65 E = 0,3E* 360 = 310 E* + 1210 E* E*= 1015Г—360 E*=240 units.
(b)
In order for the two tanneries to be cost efficient, two conditions need to be in force:
EA+EB=E
MACA=MACB
So, we have:
EA+EB=240 EA= 240 EB
MACA=MACB 360 2EA=360 3EB 360 2(240 EB) =360 3EB 5EB=480 EB=96
And EA= 240 EB EA= 240 96 EA=144
So, Firm A should emit EA=144 units and Firm B EB=96.
For EA=144 we have:
MACA=360 2(144) =360 288=72
So:
TACA=180 144Г—722=25922=1296
For EB=96 we have:
MACB=360 3(96) =360 288=72
So:
TACB=120 96Г—722=17282=864
(c)
Since, the government sets an emission tax, in order to find the units that each firm will be willing
to emit under this tax we set MAC=tax, because each tannery will choose to emit until its MAC
becomes equal to the tax. So, we have:
Tannery A will emit: MACA=66 360 2EA=66 2EA=294 EA=147 units
Tannery B will emit: MACB=66 360 3EB=66 3EB=294 EB=98 units
Under this policy of taxing we have:
For tannery A the cost of compliance is:
TCA=TACA+(tГ—EA)
TACA=12Г—180 14766$=1089$

Wireless Communications: Explosive Growth.
Explosive growth of wireless communications technology continues as the industry experiences
new subscribers and lower prices for services. The U.S. market had 100 million wireless
subscribers in year 2000, a 16.2 percent rise from 1999 of 86 million. In 1993, there were only
16 million wireless subscribers, a rise of 525 percent rise in subscribers over 7 years. Market
penetration rose 33 percent in 2000. In 1993, market penetration was only 6 percent. The explosive
growth can largely be attributed to intensive competition which forces prices down and increase
cellular phone usage. In fact, the market for wireless voice services is becoming mature. Growth
rates and heavy competition are restricting profit margins.
The U.S. telecommunications services industry will continue to expand in 2001. The popularity of
wireless phones has increased the demand for wireless cellular telephone service and reduced the
demand for in building wired phones. Approximately 50 percent of the population has access to a
wireless phone. With increased usage of wireless phones, the cost structure should be affordable to
the greater population.
Cellular phone growth has fueled expansion of network infrastructure expansion as well. In mid

Magnet School Research
Thousands of students are gifted who are looking for a better education to suit their learning

selective public schools which can teach students on a particular focus such as math and science,
but can improve by providing students an enhanced learning experience by changing the modern
day classroom. Just by changing how the modern day classroom runs, students can learn more
efficiently and be more likely to behave and be more successful in life. Magnet schools are
public schools with specialized curriculums and classes. The magnet in magnet school refers to
bringing students across the normal boundaries given by officials ( A Brief History of Magnet
Schools ). Most magnet schools in America are academically selective ( Magnet School
Wikipedia). They usually have a narrow focus such as math and science opposed to regular public
schools that have a more generalized focus. Other than providing gifted students a more
academically in depth education, magnet schools are also built to avoid racial discrimination in
some areas of the nation. Applications are usually required to get into magnet schools and
programs. They sometimes require an entrance examination, interview, or audition. A few magnet
schools use the lottery system where the applicants are chosen at random. The major keys magnet
schools look at when applying is race, for a diverse population, and academic achievements (

Edward Hopper Analysis
Nighthawks by Edward Hopper is one of my all time favorite paintings and has been a painting I
have enjoyed researching throughout my life because of how much I resonate with this work of
art. This is an astonishing painting, not only in the sense of it being a piece of beautiful art and
art history but because this is a piece that is so significant and loved by so many people around
the world. I would say that even if you have not ever seen the original painting, you have probably
seen it reproduced in different ways in many different places.
The world is bursting with all kinds of versions of this painting. All of these tributes are made
because of how much this painting has resonated with the people who have seen it. The beautiful
composition and the many well used elements in this painting have always intrigued and interested
a countless number of people. I think that Hopper created a piece that truly does resonate with so
many different people.
Edward Hopper expressed his love for art early in his life and was determined to make something
out of himself in the field of art:
Edward Hopper was born in Nyack, New York, a town located on the west side of the Hudson

Righteousness In WW1
The first couple of chapters in this selection was very interesting in that we see how the ways of
the world slowly began to overcome the righteousness of the people. Although they did not teach
contrary to the direct word of God, they did claim to have another system of beliefs that so
happened to be different the standard system of beliefs. This so closely follows current day
problems; some religious groups were simply formed to go contrary to the normal system of
beliefs and sometimes become hostile to the traditional believers. Thinking about the descriptions

Acrostic In Dante
Art is one of the most unique themes Dante includes in the Divine Comedy, especially in
Purgatorio. It is also interesting that many people rightfully view the Comedy as a work of art,
which make some of his criticisms arguably more impactful. Dante has many ideas on what art

created. Most notably, he starts off the canticle with one of his own poems sung by one of his
best friends. Casella was found in Canto II, on the shores of Purgatory. He arises just about the
same time Dante does on the angelic ferry. In addition to being a very loving encounter, So

He puts Oderisi in Purgatory for these exact reasons, as he was trying to overshadow his work with
his own pride. But there are other things to be learned with Dante s fixation on art. Remember that
there are many poets and artists that have been put in Purgatory instead of Inferno. All of these souls
are in the good grace of God. Dante very well could be saying that artists have a more admirable
position in religion and life than politicians do. Remember, there are more politicians in Inferno
than there are politicians in Purgatory. This is also a good commentary on Dante himself, who
considers himself a poet first, then a

Essay Comparing Frankenstein And Modern Prometheus
With hundreds of thousands of songs, books, movies, and art dedicated to this one emotion,
there is plenty of evidence that when it comes to human interaction love is an extremely
powerful emotion that can have a transforming effect. In contrast, a lack of love can also have
effects, especially dire or negative ones for those who are in need. Behind Mary Shelley s
Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus is a main character who cherishes himself, his own
pride, and has grand plans in mind for his legacy, all of which could possibly have positive results,
but do not feature a plan or a personality ripe with love. In contrast, Goethe s Faust also features a
character who is strong willed and very smart, but without a strong sense of love for others in his
life, he also faces negative results. Both works could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the very poignant quote of A man sees in the world what he carries in his heart (Goethe
Part 1), Faust still yearns for more than the heart, more than what love can offer to one s life. He
seems pained by the lack of knowledge in his life: Oh, God! Art is long / And life is short (558
559), but when speaking of what he can feel, the lament is not nearly as strong:
You can t, if you can t feel it, if it never / Rises from the soul, and sways / The heart of every single
hearer, / With deepest power, in simple ways. / You ll sit forever, gluing things together, / Cooking
up a stew from other s scraps, / Blowing on a miserable fire, / Made from your heap of dying ash.
/ Let apes and children praise your art, / If their admiration s to your taste, / But you ll never speak
from heart to heart, / Unless it rises up from your heart s space. (535 545)
Faust has perhaps already resigned himself to a loveless life, or perhaps his strong feelings for
acclaim and knowledge cloud the possibilities of what love can bring to one s life, if one only lets
it rise

Jordan Human Rights Violations
When the topic of human rights violations is brought up in regards to the Middle East, it is likely
that countries such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Syria are among the first to come to mind. Although
Jordan does not have nearly as many violations as the aforementioned, several civil liberties are
being consistently violated despite the country s commitment to human rightsand national security.
Jordan has been one of the steadiest allies of the United States in the fight against terrorism as
well as being an advocate for creating and maintaining peace in the Middle East, but what Jordan
may be applauded for is also a cause of conflict on the human rights front. Credit must be given to
Jordan for its cooperation with the United Nations and human rights standards, being one of the
most progressive in its geographical area. It is also one of the few countries in the Middle East
that extended a standing invitation for any special procedures, which means the state will always
accept requests to visit from all special procedures, which sacrifices a significant amount... Show

Jordan is hosting approximately 700,000 refugees from Syria as well as 12,000 Palestinian
refugees from the neighboring Israel, which has its own record of human rights abuses. The
refugees are so great in number and the efforts to care for them are underfunded by the state,
therefore their conditions are progressively worsening; children are going without education and
men and women are left unemployed and at the mercy of the state, which is violation of a number
of treaties, especially the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The refugee crisis does
not have a simple solution, and resources are straining in Jordan where the population is nearly 6.5
million, and 700,000 additional mouths to feed and people to provide health care for is no easy
task to accomplish without negatively affecting the citizens of

The Environmental Degradation Of Pakistan
Abstract
One of the major challenges facing today is to meet the demands of increasing population and to
reduce the environmental degradation caused by over population and industrialization. Increasing
environmental degradation is damaging the productivity of agriculture lands. The factors affecting
the productivity include soil erosion, salinization, water logging, and desertification. These factors
cause low crop yields and deterioration of environment. In this paper we will identifies the factors
limiting crop yields in Pakistan and suggest suitable technologies to realize sustainable crop yields,
while improving the environmental conditions.
Introduction
Land degradation is a process in which the value of the biophysical environment is affected by a
combination of human induced processes acting upon the land. Pakistan is a arid to semi arid
country. The natural resource base of land, water and vegetation in arid and semi arid areas is
highly fragile and extremely vulnerable to degradation. The total geographical area of Pakistan
is 79.6 mha out of which 34.44% is arable. The population of Pakistan is over 180 million and it
is increasing at the rate of 2.6% per annum (Zia et al., 2003). This can lead to over exploitation of
natural resources, including soil. Other factors are also contributing to land degradation. For
example good agricultural land for crop production is shrinking as a result of fragmentation, rapid
converting of productive agricultural land into

Courage Root Word Essay
The root word for courage is coeur, which is the French word for heart. Courage comes from the
heart and from a deep sense of personal authority. When you have the courage to be true to
yourself, you start to feel empowered to act and live in ways true to your own soul; the true
meaning of self esteem, without any illusion. Ganesha is urging you to let down your guard and
stop wearing a mask. Begin to have more respect for yourself as well as others. Some ways of
increasing self respect can be achieved through awareness and not comparing yourself to others
and lowering their worth in order to increase your own significance. When you come from the
heart you may find that you are able to relate well to others. Your innate gifts will be able

How Jellyfish Affect The Ecosystem
Jellyfish can be seen in freshwater and saltwater inhabiting everywhere it goes. Some may see
jellyfish depicted in media such as the television show SpongeBob SquarePants as a fun
recreational sport of catching Jellyfish in butterfly nets. Though most may recognize the creatures
as your worse nightmare on a beach and avoiding getting stung by them. However, researchers and
explorers have found effects that jellyfishhave on impacting the ecosystem and life style of others.
These findings have shown a divide between the benefits and negative outcomes they have.
Researchers discover an overgrowing size and population in jellyfish. Lindsey Bloomberg, it
discusses how jellyfish are affecting the ecosystem by showing research discussing the 2010
report by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) based on ocean acidification stating
there is an increased jellyfish numbers and changes in fish abundance, which is from pollution,
overfishing and rising carbon dioxide. Due to their low oxygen intake they can survive anywhere
from predator free waters to algae choked expanses. Thicker masses of floating jellyfish will
consume large volumes of fish eggs and larvae, preventing fish populations from rebounding, states
Lucas Brotz of the University of British Columbia Fisheries Center, which shows the population of
jellyfish are taking over an already stressed ecosystem and dominating it even more. To further
jellyfish taking over an ecosystem is discussed by Oren Liebermann

Ulysses S Grant Essay
Ulysses S Grant Although Ulysses S. Grant s contemporaries placed him in the highest position of
great Americans along with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, the twentieth century has
seen him fade. His presidency has been almost universally condemned, and he is consistently
ranked second to rock bottom Warren G. Hardingin polls of historians to rate the presidents.
Although his military reputation has declined as well, it nevertheless continues to win him a steady
following. Even his most faithful admirers, however, tend to end their studies conveniently at
Appomattox, and one senses a wide regret that Grant s public career extended beyond the Civil War.
Taking note of this trend, John Y. Simon observes that some biographers... Show more content on

His veto of the Inflation Act of 1874 and subsequent drive for what became the Resumption Act of
1875 shocked many who looked to Congress to cure the nation s economic ills, and the panic of
1873 came to an abrupt end when the act went into effect in 1879. The successful arbitration of the
Alabama and Virginus disputes mark not only foreign policy victories for the United States, but a
significant precursor to the future course of international affairs. The establishment of the principle
of the international arbitration through the Treaty of Washington, would later be embodied in the
Hague Tribunal, the League of Nations, the World Court, and the United Nations.
Grant s desire for peace was evident to me from the beginning of my research, but I did not
realize how far reaching it was until I noted the steadiness and rectitude he displayed throughout
the presidential electoral crisis of 1876 77, which could have become a disaster. Also remarkable
to me was Grant s Quaker Indian Peace Policy: on the eve of what could have become the
complete genocide of the American Indian, Grant acted decisively to begin two decades of reform
that for the first time promoted the welfare of Indians as individuals and broke ground for their
eventual citizenship.
However important these issues may seem, the traditional evaluation of Grant as president

The Clanton Gang Essay
In the middle and late part of the nineteenth century, the West was a harsh and dangerous place to
live. Bar fights and murders were being committed in every town. This was acceptable behavior
however in those days. Men settled their problems face to face, and normally, the slower man
ended up dead. Gunfighting in the West was started and carried on by a group of men known as the
Clanton Gang. Old Man Clanton was the leader and founder of gunfighting, his sons carried some
of his fights and continued with their own fights, and his last surviving son parted with gunfighting
and started his own successful business.
Gunfights were common and took place regularly. The earliest gunfighters, or... Show more content

Corral gunfight, was when Billy was caught riding Wyatt s stolen horse. Ike Clanton, born in 1847,
was also involved in the O.K. Corral shootout. Ike s involvement in the shootout started when
Doc Holliday offered him $6000 in reward money to help find, or kill, the men involved in the
stage coach murders , and he declined. Then when Doc was accused of murder in Tombstone, Ike
openly expressed his thoughts when Doc was found innocent. All these events led up to the
famous gunfight. The date was October 26, 1881, 2:30 p.m., and the setting was a vacant lot
officially known as lot number two, block 17, in Tombstone, Arizona (internet, #5). Nineteen year
old Billy Clanton, thirty four year old Ike Clanton, and Tom and Frank McLaury face Wyatt, Virgil,
and Morgan Earp, along with Doc Holliday. The O.K. Corral Gunfight last 30 seconds, Frank
McLaury was dead from a bullet wound to the stomach fired from Wyatt s gun, Tom McLaury
was dead from Doc Holliday s shotgun, and Billy Clanton was dying from chest wounds
(internet, #6). Ike Clanton escaped by running into Fly s Photo Studio nearby. Billy was rushed
into a nearby house screaming in pain. Dr. N. S. Gibberson shot Billy full of morphine to ease
the pain. As crowds gathered around Billy s bed, his last words were documented, Drive the crowd

Secondly, these shops profitability is very much affected by fierce pressure on margins imposed by
powerful suppliers. Consequently, due to this downturn, the weaker manufacturers exit the industry
and the remaining manufacturers gain market shares and become more powerful which create a
vicious circle.
An option to turn these threats into opportunities could be to manage to set up agreements with
smaller shoe manufacturers. The manufacturers activity would be sustain by producing some on
order shoes while the independent retails would benefit from both higher margins and better
opportunity to differentiate the offer.
However, in order to be successful, this project requires advanced shoes development and design
knowledge and strong trust relationships between the entities.

The shoe industry seems to regain some stability after the dim past years of recession. The industry
is a mature market undergoing some crucial changes that players need to consider carefully. On one

Cultural Differences Between Usa And America
Does the ocean separate cultures? Location doesn t dictate the things we do traditionally or daily.
In any two locations there are just as many similarities as there are differences. Differences in
living standards, food, and transportation stand out more because they may not be as practical in a
specific location. Japan and America outdo each other in comparison and relate in so many ways
except size.
America has an abundant amount of space for expansion. New houses are being bought and land is
sold every day. An apartmentor house may have rooms ranging from none to as much as the heart
desires. Families can completely seclude themselves with thick walls and doors in their home.
Dinner time may be the couch or the dinner table. In America a yard is cherished by some and
neglected by others. Children are driven to school or they take the bus. Community or
personnel pools may be available or spotted in some one s back yard for swimming. Due to
japans small size and rising population, space is limited. Acres of land or even a yard is hard to
come by but those who do poses land use it to grow vegetables or fruit. There are more apartment
buildings then houses. A Japanese Two bedroom apartment may look like an American studio and
houses are considered luxury. Dedicated to dinner specifically, homes in japan have tatami rooms.
In the Japanese homes paper thin walls allow noise to be abundant so seclusion is practiced else

  • 2. Too Much Stress in Teens Lives It is no question that adults have large amounts of stress as a result of jobs, money, family issues and the economy. What is often overlooked is how much stress and anxiety teens experience. It is common knowledge that teens worry about school, grades, and sports; but this does not even begin to scratch the surface of the amount of stress teens go through. Teens today feel pressure from the whole of society to conform and to be popular or in style. Teens are also expected to plan for, and have their future mapped out; whether that involves pursuing a career or starting a family, or even both. All of these stresses can lead to a number of serious physical and mental issues including low self esteem, self harm, and even thoughts of suicide. The worst part about teen stress is that teens do not know how to handle it. They cannot cope with their changing responsibilities and this leads to role conflict and their inability to react to situations properly. The best thing a teen can do is find a way to control, regulate, and reduce the stress in their lives. In comparison, teens today experience higher levels of stress from academics and an abundance of extra curricular activities which is only made worse by teen s ineptitude to cope with these expectations. Adults do experience high levels of stress, that is undeniable. They have to go to work every day, which can be a stressful environment, then they come home and face a whole new plethora of stress inducing aspects. The work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Three Elements on Why People Commit a Crime The Three Elements on Why People Commit a Crime There are many different meanings of crime and many different reasons people commit crimes. In the United States, defense lawyers try to prove their clients did not know what they were doing when they committed the crime and the prosecution tries to prove the defendant did know what they were doing when they committed the crime. However, the prosecution must have the elements of a crime, which means state of facts to prove someone guilty. The prosecution lawyers and the defense lawyers use elements of a crime for the defendant. The following are examples of elements of a crime: mens rea, autus reus, concurrence of actus renus and mens rea. All of these can be used as elements of a crime.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes, the defendant does not mean to commit a crime. Perhaps they were in defending themselves or maybe it was it accident. Finally, all three elements of a crime can be used in a criminal case. For example, Jacob Simmon believes that he will be charged with several crimes (Hames Eken, 2009) Jacob Simmon threw a beer bottle and hit someone. Simmon did not mean to hurt the man. All three elements of a crime were used: mens rea was used because he was reckless, actus reus was used because he was not forced to throw the bottle and hit the guy. Concurrence of the actus reus and mens rea was used even though he did not mean hurt the man he still can be charged with a crime. (Hames Eken, 2009) In the United States a defendant is innocent until proven guilty. Prosecution lawyers and defense lawyers must prove why the defendant committed the crime, or if they did commit a crime. A prosecution cannot charge someone with a crime unless they can prove someone committed a crime. Therefore, they use the three elements of a crime. They used mens rea, actus reus, concurrence of the actus reus and mens rea. They can use all three elements of a crime in a criminal case. These three elements of a crime will help to see why the defendant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Risk Taker What I understood from this article was the different type of risk takers is based upon the degree of risks they are willing to take. Although Ron is a fictional character in this article, I have known a lot of Ron in my life who lives for excitement. As described in the article, they like to smoke, drink, do drugs, party every weekend and just live it up every day. So I ever wonder what makes someone a risk taker. Someone who is a risk taker is someone who has a personality trait called sensation seeking. The traits are the pursuit of novel, intense and complex sensations and experiences, and the willingness to take risks for the sake of such experience. There is also three levels to distinguish the different type of risk takers, which are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The environment outside of the home, such as accidental life experience and friends is accountable for 40% of the environmental contribution to sensation seeking. Genes are involved due to the personality traits they influence that is associated with risk taking like the traits of aggression, agreeableness, aggression, sociability, the main component of extroversion. However, it is noted genes make proteins that shape our nervous systems, but not directly make traits. Some biological correlate of sensation seeking is dopamine and enzyme monoamine oxidase. Dopamine is an important brain neurotransmitter awhile enzyme monoamine oxidase (MAO) is a regulator keeping neurotransmitters in balance. Both of these biological genes are found in high impulsive sensation seeking individuals. Dopamine is active in the brain s intrinsic reward and pleasure centers, and also found in high proportion of opiate drug abusers. To high sensation seekers, enzyme monoamine oxidase is low, implying a lack of regulation without any regard for consequences, which is why men are proved higher risk takers than women. Since women levels of enzyme monoamine oxidase are higher than men meaning the imply regulation. There is always a positive and negative to everything, negative in the aspect too much of a high risk can result in death. However not every risk is extreme to some, as low risk taking individuals have as much experience like high risk taker. Some people find it in bungee jumping, relationship and sex, or in quiet ... • 7. Dissonance Theory To Change Eliza s Attitude Towards Soccer Chris could use dissonance theory to change Eliza s attitude towards soccer. Dissonance theory explains how people go about decreasing negative arousal caused by a mismatch of their attitudes and behavior. Aronson and Carlsmith conducted a study in which two groups of kids were asked to leave a not play with a toy, and then left alone with it. Only one group of kids were told there would a consequence if they played with the toy. Kids from both groups left the toy alone, but the kids in the non consequence group did not play with the toy even when they were told they could. This was because they changed their attitude to explain why they hadn t played with the toy to decrease dissonance caused by a mismatch in attitude and behavior. The second group did not need to do this, as they had a sufficient external reason to leave the toy alone. When Eliza wants to stop Chris could simply ask her to keep going. Since her father did not suggest a consequence she is unlikely to attribute her behavior to his request. This creates dissonance as her attitudes would suggest that she would not have continued to go to soccer, yet she went anyway. Eliza will adjust her attitude to line up with her behavior to decrease dissonance and she will come to believe that she enjoys soccer.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Ancient Civilization The ancient Maya civilisation has generated great interest in many academic scholars and scientists, due to the phenomenon which saw one of the most dramatic civilisation collapses in recorded history, during what has been referred to as the Terminal Classic Period A.D. в€ ј700 to 950 (Haug et al, 2003). Interestingly, the ancient civilisation has been characterised by its collapse in the 9th century, perhaps even more so than its remarkable accomplishments, such as: creating vast hierarchical and political structures, architecture and symbolic artwork (Masson, 2012). The Maya empire comprised of indigenous populations, who were situated in North America, and inhabited southern present day Mexico, Belize, El Salvador, Houndras and the semi tropical lowland environment of Guatemala (Faust, 2001). The Maya collapse is an incredibly controversial topic, which is still debated in society today. Many substantial arguments have been placed to explain the fundamental cause of collapse, especially the downfall of the Maya lowland areas of the YucatГЎn peninsular region, which was arguably affected the most significantly. Consequently, this essay will examine the key hypotheses presented for the reasoning behind the collapse of the ancient Maya. Focusing on: drought and whether its cause was due to natural climatic changes or anthropogenic forcing, social factors such as, disease and war, and finally political and cultural issues, which may have led to the Maya demise. It seeks to show the way the three identified theories manifest from the video and the impacts they create. The three theories include structural functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. Even though the theories are distinct, they are expressed in the one same movie analyzed in this study. Structural Functionalism This theory looks at the society as a complex system with different parts that work together in solidarity to promote peace and stability. The film Snowpeicer, written by Bong Joon Ho gives different escapades of torture and punishment orchestrated by Mason. Even though there is some sense of oneness as people travel together on the train, which indeed proves the world s diversity, the rages of conflicts later ensue as the power are mistreated by the powerful individuals. Porter s Five Forces Analysis Of The Pharmaceutical Industry Porter s Five Forces Analysis of Pharmaceutical Industry Porter s Five Competitive Forces Analysis is a framework developed by Michael E. Porter of Harvard Business School for study of industry analysis by analyzing five competitive forces which define industry and its business strategy. These five competitive forces determine the competitive advantages, disadvantages and attractiveness or profitability of industry. We analyzed the Indian Pharmaceutical industry on these five forces and the findings of industry competitiveness and profitability are written under the relevant competitive forces. Bargaining Power of Buyers In pharmaceutical industry, the end user of the product (patient) is different from the influencer (doctor) influencing his decisions. • 16. Personal Statement On Communication Skills Many people are not aware of the communication skills that they lack, most will argue that they have perfect communication skills. Taking interpersonal communication has taught me that my skills are very poor. I walked in thinking there was nothing I can learn about communication and realized that I know little to nothing about communication. Since starting this class I ve narrowed the skills I need to work on to the following four which includes listening, being more supportive and active, understanding, and improving my self concept. Although all four of these skills are something I can improve I think listening is my main problem. When I think of listening I relate it to just hearing the message. I do not follow the process of listening that was taught in my communication class. Rather than receiving, recalling, rating, and responding, I often hear and skip right to responding. I do believe that because I don t follow all the steps I forget easily or do not understand things completely, which leads to me either questioning later, or just winging it. I also realized that I have selective listening, because of lack of interest in some conversations I often block out part of the conversation, or lose focus and zone out until the end of the conversation. By then I know little of what was talked about and only respond to what I think is most important to me. The Racial Justice Social Movement The Racial Justice Social Movement Introduction Civil Rights Movements recollections are responsible for shaping how people behave in society as well as the numerous protests on human rights that are seen in present day. What was evidenced back in the 1950s and 60s was focused on breaking racial barriers which were centered around degrading, confining and marginalizing the minority population of the United States. The case is relatively different in present day, what is conceptualized is a case of people supporting the movement driven by different purposes. With the history of what transpired throughout time is what shapes our daily politics. Social movements of the 19th and 20th Century are responsible for shaping progressive thought. The movements were driven by the need for racial disenfranchisement with legal requirements of segregation were constitutionally inconsistent with a focus on its eradication. What was conceptualized back in the early 20th Century is a case scenario where the women suffrage, environmental protection to dismantlement of Jim Crow laws. These were considered as relatively utopian ideas but that is not the case in present day where they are considered as being common sense. Radical issues for yester years have been considered into mainstream policy formulation of present day. Architects of the Renaissance period designed a large spectrum of civil structures like palaces, libraries, villas, fountains, hospitals, bridges, etc. They built urban spaces which looked magnificent and also a little frightening. Consolidation: Commodity industry is highly driven by the supply demand gap. While this may be true for any industry it is more pronounced in commodities and much more in electricity. The cost of storing the finished goods (warehousing cost), insurance cost and the cost of locked capital is generally high compared to any other industry. This forces the mining industry to follow the chase market strategy where firms try to match their production levels to the demand. However, once a big plant or mining facility is set up reducing the production levels reduces the operation cost only to a marginal extent. This motivates the firm to keep the production levels high and reduce the selling price which ultimately reduces the industry margin. Isolation from the world can cause damage on its own but with heartbreak and death together a person can do unimaginable things. In the story A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner the main character Emily shows how both death and isolation can affect ones mental health. Emily was isolated from others by her father from the beginning of the story. Her father was very controlling and didn t think that any man was good enough to marry her. In the story, it is said: We remembered all the young men her father had driven away (28). This caused Emily to be isolated from others because she couldn t find a man who her father thoughtwas suitable for marriage. The town had grown to believe that Emily thought she was better than others because that is the way her familythought we believed that the Griersons held themselves a little too high for what they really were (25). This automatically caused the town to be more distant from Emily and her to only have one person to depend on which began to affect her mental health because she felt as she only had her father. Since no man was good enough for Emily she only had her father, when he died her first act that showed signs of a bad mental health was done. • 30. The Omnipotence And Omniscience Of God Essay William Maillis PHL 111 Reaction Paper #2 Professor M. Scott Mayberry 13 December 2016 The Omnipotence and Omniscience of God Does God exist in the universe, or does the universe exist in God? This is the question mankind must answer when we discuss the attributes of God. Many times humanity attempts to place God in the universe and placing universal laws and limitations on God, but God is not bound by the laws of the universe, because the universe exists in God. If it true that God has created everything than how can he be limited by anything? Only God could limit Himself, by His own choice to do so. Thomas V. Morris in his article on the omnipotence of God asks; can God do everything that is logically possible? Who s logic? Are we made in the Image and Likeness of God, or are we attempting to make Him in ours? The difficulty is this: as humans, we are imperfect, with our viewpoints so limited is it God we connect to, or merely our own impression of Him? As imperfect humans, we know only ourselves. We connect to others, but we can never truly go into anybody s mind but our own. Every person exists in a specific manner, completely immersed in his individual awareness, which is egocentric and exclusive. As human beings, we look towards reason and logic to try to understand existence and our place in it. However, there is no human being who is omniscient, so therefore our logic can be flawed, so what is logically possible? In the article; Omniscience and human freedom: a ... This so closely follows current day problems; some religious groups were simply formed to go contrary to the normal system of beliefs and sometimes become hostile to the traditional believers. • 47. The Environmental Degradation Of Pakistan Abstract One of the major challenges facing today is to meet the demands of increasing population and to reduce the environmental degradation caused by over population and industrialization. Increasing environmental degradation is damaging the productivity of agriculture lands. The factors affecting the productivity include soil erosion, salinization, water logging, and desertification. These factors cause low crop yields and deterioration of environment. In this paper we will identifies the factors limiting crop yields in Pakistan and suggest suitable technologies to realize sustainable crop yields, while improving the environmental conditions. Introduction Land degradation is a process in which the value of the biophysical environment is affected by a combination of human induced processes acting upon the land. Pakistan is a arid to semi arid country. The natural resource base of land, water and vegetation in arid and semi arid areas is highly fragile and extremely vulnerable to degradation. The total geographical area of Pakistan is 79.6 mha out of which 34.44% is arable. The population of Pakistan is over 180 million and it is increasing at the rate of 2.6% per annum (Zia et al., 2003). This can lead to over exploitation of natural resources, including soil. Other factors are also contributing to land degradation.
