Slide 2 Summary
Slide 1 Summary Slide one is my introduction slide it discusses both the positive and negative
results that the development of new technology has presented in the workplace. In this slide the
viewer will see the positive effects of technology in the workplace from increased productivity to
higher levels of employee engagement. My original slide had too much information and it could be
overwhelming for the audience to comprehend. The revised slide is much cleaner and illustrates the
positive and negative connotations in a much cleaner manner. Slide 2 Summary Slide two
introduces the audience to the whys behind the behavior of some companies. In other words, slide
two provides a good outline detailing reasons why organizations feel the need to monitor employee
email and internet usage. Some of the information provided in this slide are: firms can investigate
complaints... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This slide provides a definition of what is considered internet abuse in the workplace. Also, the
slide also goes on further to outline a list of specific acts of abuse. Violations include
inappropriate jokes, downloading music, and frequenting social networking sites. My first slide
provided pertinent information on the topic but I decide to take off all of the detailed
information and highlight the most visited places the associates visit during business hours.
Slide 4 Summary The purpose of this slide is to pose the question if monitoring employee
internet usage is really worth it in the workplace. This slide is informational and provides details
like how many companies are actually monitoring employee internet usage and the financial cost
associated to these behaviors. My first slide, just had too much information on it for the audience
to follow. However, on my revised slide I decided to have some fun using a baby monitor and the
illustration of a yes or no buzzer to convey my message. Slide 5

Analysis Of The Story Going Back Home
As people journey through life, they discover many qualities they hold that make them unique and
interesting. These qualities differentiate them from others, and help form their identity. In the
stories we have read in class, such as Going Back Home , written by Toyomi Igus and Michele
Wood, Nei Um Lung, Ma? by May Yee, and The Jade Peony by Wayson Choy, the characters
hobbies, beliefs, and familyroots make them unique and interesting. Due to many factors, including
different experiences in life, an individual develops many aspects in their identity that are different
from others.
Hobbies, which are adopted and changed throughout one s life, express who an individual is.
There are many different reasons as to why people adopt hobbies. It may be a way to pass the
time, to express their likes and dislikes, or a way for them to channel their emotions. In the story
Going Back Home , the narrator explains how the painter, Michelle Wood, expressed her life and
her ancestors lives through her art. She created self portraits to show different aspects of her life,
her grandparents lives, and a blue musician s life, utilizing the colours, patterns, and objects to
depict their hardships, culture, and opportunities. The house and fence represent the foundations of
my past. The boards are my life lessons the crooked ones are the tragedies and the hardships. I am
holding a hen, which is a link to my rural southern heritage. This excerpt from the story explains
exactly how

Oil And Gas Maintain A Critical Role For Uae Industry And...
Oil and gas maintain a critical role for UAE industry and daily life for locals. However, the
government has put forth major efforts to increase their renewable energy capacity. They have also
focused on diversifying their economy so they aren t reliant on exporting oil and natural gas for
income. With the various complex construction projects in Dubai such as the Palm Islands or the
Burj Khalifa, the tallest skyscraper in the world, engineering and real estate have become major
industries in the country. UAE efforts to shift toward renewable energy, mostly constrained to the
emirate Abu Dhabi, have gained international attention. Recently, they hosted a meeting in Abu

It is similarly structured to the Cabinet of the United States with different departments such as the
Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Labor, etc. In order to choose the head of this branch, which is the
prime minister, the president appoints someone who is then approved by the Supreme Council;
once chosen, the prime minister then proposes the Cabinet, which the president must approve and
ratify. Additionally, there is the Federal National Council. This body of government is somewhat
similar to Congress where they represent a voice for the citizens and create laws which the Supreme
Council authorizes or rejects. Political disputes, not only in the host country, but also in
neighboring countries can greatly affect the success of business. So when discussing political
disputes and risks you must consider a wide variety of events. The nuclear crisis in Iran is an event
that must be considered when assessing the environment around the UAE. Recently, the Joint
Comprehensive Plan of Action has been signed by the representatives from the P5+1 (the five
permanent powers of the UN Security Council and Germany) powers and Iran, which requires Iran
to remove large numbers of centrifuges from different nuclear sites. Even though steps have been
taken in the right direction to ease tensions on this issue, there is always the chance that something
similar to this could arise again. Another thing that

The Myth of Psyche
THE MYTH OF PSYCHE
(excerpted from http://www.mythicjourneys.org/newsletter_jul05_transitions_bolen.html )
As most of you know, psyche is the Greek word for soul. It s also the Greek word for butterfly. If
you have a protagonist in a story whose name is Psyche, you might expect that she will go
through a major transition and crisis. Will she survive it? Will she come through and be
transformed, or will she die? That s one way of looking at the
Psyche myth. Those of you who heard Robert Bly s White Bear story on the first day of this
conference heard a variation of the Eros and Psyche myth.
The form that Psyche broke was the understanding with her unseen lover who came every night.
The piece of the story I want to focus on is what happens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

What good is knowing that you are in a very dysfunctional relationship, if you haven t the
capacity...that is the symbol of the knife...to draw a boundary, to discriminate, to cut it off, to end
the relationship if it turns out that what you see really is negative?
In this part of the story, Psyche takes both symbols in her hand. As you know, when she raises the
lamp and sees her unseen lover, her unknown bridegroom, he turns out to be the immature god of
love, Eros. Immature in that he was carrying on this secret affair. He had promised his mother, the
goddess Aphrodite, that he would punish Psyche who was so identified with the goddess
because of her beauty that the goddess s shrines were ignored. People were worshipping a human
girl as if she was a goddess, and the goddess plotted revenge for what psychologically is true. If
you identify with an archetype, you lose your humanity, your individuality. You get inflated by it.
You get taken over by it. You do get Aphrodite s revenge.
In this case Aphrodite had told her son Eros to aim his arrows at Psyche in punishment so that
she would fall in love with the vilest of men. This is the negative power of Aphrodite and Eros:
to have Psyche fall in love with someone who would really be vile for her and her development.
Instead Eros sees Psyche and falls in love with her himself. He decides to keep all that from
Mother, and so he s been having this clandestine, hidden affair

Children go through a wide range of constant setbacks but in order to provide them with the best
possible recourse it is important that parents display a great deal of support. Last week, I had the
opportunity to interview a couple who has a child with a learning disability. Although they did not
find out until middle school they did suspect that there was a potential problem early on. One
reason being was that the childhad a hard time grasping certain concepts such as reading
comprehension and certain knowledge regarding math concepts. Also, homework was extremely
difficult and they were constantly completing the homework assignments for her. For them this post

notified to attend a meeting with the teachers, counselors and the principal so that they could find
the best possible alternative to improve their daughters math and reading skills . Their diagnoses
after testing suggested that there were several learning debilities and that learning accommodations
would have to be made due to poor reading comprehension scores and poor math scores throughout
the testing.
One accommodation was that the student was to attend both a special educational class for
reading and a supportive class for her math course. Her main accommodation was that she was to
receive additional help such as having someone read the questions aloud to her if needed and was
able to leave the room to be in a more secluded area. When I asked about how they felt about her

Order and Chaos
Order and chaos are related to and dependent on each other. The clear cut distinction between
them is man made and an illusion. Society uses order to regulate all aspects of the world from
nature to personal lives, while chaos allows for open mindedness and also provides an explanation
for certain aspects of the world. This can be seen in science, theology, music, language, and
imaginative play. Science is rational, logical, and orderly. It has the ability to break apart complex
systems into simpler ones described by theories ad equations. This is seen in the description of the
planets orbits, evolution, and Newton s laws. Scientists have a thirst for knowledge and seek
understanding about the world around them. Their methods... Show more content on

Anthropology, fossils, and other material evidence provide proof of evolution by similarities
between organisms of the past and present ,including the controversial belief that humans evolved
from apes. All these discoveries discredit the belief that humans were created to posses dominion
over the world, and all that was created has existed from the beginning. The five percent of
fundamentalists that are radical and use violence and other unusual means to support their views
have made fundamentalism seem extreme and crazy. They discriminate against other Christians,
who do not have their same views, and deem them not real Christians. They are also completely
intolerant of other religions, offering no salvation outside their faith. Throughout the ages these
two groups have clashed as seen in the trial of Galileo. The common denominator in Galileo s
trial ,and other controversies between the ideologies is each group s stubbornness and intolerance
of other views. One view can not exist without the other ,and they are both impractical and
incomplete. The joining of the two is essential for a human being and the world as a whole. This
point is clearly illustrated in the Library of Babel where all was known ,yet chaos was rampant
because no faith could exist.
Music can sometimes sound random, chaotic, and spontaneous but all music has a certain structure

Ethics, Intellectual Property, And Piracy
Personal and business ethics in an ever expanding technological world are challenged in many
different ways. Multiple communication methods and the availability of the Internet have made a
large world much smaller in the context of information sharing, so the importance of understanding
and utilizing measures to protect intellectual propertyand copyrights is vital to business success,
ethical understanding and acceptance. In the following, I will specifically discuss the concepts of
copyright, intellectual property, and piracy. Copyrights are a form of intellectual property, and the
concepts of piracy and plagiarism threatens the viability and integrity of both. Understanding these
concepts helps shape individual and business codes of ethics.
Copyright and Intellectual Property Copyrights are defined by the United States Copyright office
as original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other
intellectual works (Copyright Basics, n.d.). The laws protect these works whether they are
published or not. Copyright laws protect these works from their time of inception and are not
required to be registered, though registration assists notifying the public about the work and makes
it easier for original owners to lay claim to the copyright if it has been infringed upon.
Copyright laws can be traced all the way back to the early 1700 s when the first laws were enacted
to protect the works of individuals. According to the Intellectual

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Geriatric Care In Malaysia
Upgradation of geriatric care over 5 years in Malaysia
Introduction
What is geriatric care?
Geriatric care is derived from the Greek geron which means old man and iatreia which means the
treatment of disease .
According to UN World Assembly on ageing in 1982, Vienna, in Malaysia, older persons are
defined as those who are 60 years and above. Ageing nation are defined as a nation where more
than 10% of the population is aged more than 60 years old and by 2020, Malaysia will be defined
as an ageing nation (9.9%)
Ther eare many phases in life and elder age is considered quite a sensitive phase. This is because
old people need attention and care to have a healthy and quality life. In this era, many countries
including Malaysia, are now facing the problem of an ageing population. However we should start
preparing for future ageing problem in our country and implies strategies such as applying geriatric

Thanksgiving Persuasive Techniques
This recipe can be found on a webpage, which means that the sides are filled with advertisements
for other great dishes to cook. Most of the suggestions are holiday themed, since Thanksgiving has
just passed, and cranberry sauce is associated with Thanksgiving in America. The structure is
simple, looking like something out of a Western cookbook. On the top, there is a depiction of what
the cranberrysauce should look like, the amount of time it takes to prepare and cook the sauce,
and how many people it serves. Underneath that, there is a sentence exclaiming that the dish is
delicious and the last recipe you will ever try. Next, they list the ingredients, and give the
instructions. This is easily followed, and simple for this ritualized dish. The techniques in this
recipe are extremely simple, requiring only a pot, a heat source, preferably a stove, and a cooling
area. Water and sugar are brought to a boil. Once they are boiling, the cranberries are added, and
heated until they explode. Then, they are cooled to form a gelatinized dish. Although it takes three
hours to make, the process itself is not difficult.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
of cranberries, 2 cups of water, and 2 cups of sugar. Cranberries are native to the northeastern United
States, which is why they are important during the Thanksgiving Feast. Thanksgiving is meant to
commemorate the first feast between pilgrims and natives (before we killed them all brutally, but
that s another story). For this reason, the foods served are supposed to represent what was served
during the first Thanksgiving. Since cranberries are native to the region, many believe that they
were present during the first Thanksgiving. However, I highly doubt that they were sweetened by
sugar, which was brought to this region through trade. It is probable that this tradition came to be
through time and legend, since Thanksgiving did not become a national holiday until

Summary Of A Novel By Aldo Leopold
In this novel written by Aldo Leopold, he brings in a dreamy imagery ridden writing that entices the
reader. Along with photographs that go along with his journey and conservation. The book goes in
order of months starting with January and once it hits December, instead of months they are
replaced with locations. Leopold takes his stance to talk about conservation, but not only that he
goes on to make the point of the importance of trying to maintain harmony through what Leopold
termed as land ethics. Leopold takes a different route of explain things that are constructed in this
novel, in every observation he so vividly describes for the reader. Leopold takes his love and
respect for land and heartfully writes this novel to inform others about the beauty of land as well.
Although, Leopold s novel was in three sections, each serving its own purpose. Nevertheless, each
still all came together to connect with the same theme, which was to have harmony between nature
and humanity.
In the beginning of the novel Leopold begins by giving the reader the census of changing of
ecosystems, exploring the interactions among animals as well as plants and the impact of
interactions through the seasons. He widens the field, giving the reader a realistic idea of
landscapes. Leopold also goes on to share in the second section his journey to various farms and
places throughout the United States, not holding anything back. Leopold addresses the important
issues such as declining natural

to members of the enlightened sect, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. The Enlightment
roots started in the early 17th century where contributors sought to shed light on human intellect as

The Character Analysis Of Rihanna s Music Video
Music videos bring songs to life through its storylines and captivating visuals. They illustrate the
song`s lyrics and can sometimes introduce a new perception to the meaning of the song. In this
short film like music video, the storyline overpowers the song and intensifies its theme and tone.
The suspense and bold images made it impossible to look away from the screen. Its characters
demonstrated that people seek revenge for the things they find valuable to maintain or gain power.
The title and the most repeated phrase in the song does not directly correspond to the song`s
message. Rihanna used the scenario of someone owing her money to signify power and revenge.
As one can see from all of the insane scenes in the video, that it is about going after what you want
no matter what. The main characterwas completely focused on getting her money back so much
that everything else was irrelevant. The steps she took including kidnapping and torturing the
banker s wife were solely for revenge on the banker, because the wife is not involved in the
situation. Her actions were dangerous, however in Rihanna`s character`s perspective, these steps
were trivial because taking back what was her was more important. If we take away the actual
context of the plot, this music videois about a womantaking control over a difficult situation.
Through the entire video, Rihanna is portrayed as someone with power and authority. This boss
like persona is shown through her having two sidekicks, and

King Arthur Chivalry
King Arthur is one of the most famous leaders in our world s history. No one knows whether or not
King Arthur ever existed. Either way, he still was very impactful on our world and continues to
influence our world today. Nick Bettis states, That future generations turned him into legend... That
is the real significance of King Arthur. We invented him because we have an inherent need for
what he represents. He symbolizes our ideals, which makes the most authentic part of us invested
in his legacy. King Arthur invented the idea of chivalry. Chivalry was a code used by the Knights
of the Roundtable that included various qualities that were to be expected in an ideal knight such as
wisdom, courage, temperance, and justice. All of the knights lived and died by this code. Many

for a man to fight his own son no matter how evil the son was. King Arthur believed it was his
duty to face off with his son. Arthur states, No, tide me death, tide me life. Now I see him yonder
alone, he shall never escape mine hands. For at a better avail shall I never have him. Arthur was
determined to fight Sir Mordred despite the fact that Mordred was his son. Arthur did the right and
just thing when he fought his son. Amy Farrell points out, The chivalric virtues of wisdom, faith,
charity, and justice were among the many ideals of the Knights Code of Chivalry in the Middle
Ages. So Arthur was very chivalrous when he fought his son. King Arthur knew it was he duty to
fight his son, but it was also the just thing to do. For this reason, Arthur was very chivalric in this

Understand The Importance Of Resilience
combine new ideas, data and options enables us to reflect, assimilate, plan and imagine the future.
When we do not take this time, we make quick decisions that may not be to our best improvement.
These quick decisions can change us and affect our career, our fulfilment, and, ultimately, our

At the same time, the organizational demands are constantly changing based on available
resources and global impacts. Today s organizations ask us to define ourselves with a role. We

Essay On Intracranial Pial Arteriovenous Fistula
INTRODUCTION:
Intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula (PAVF) is a rare vascular malformation accounting for 1.6
% of all intracranial vascular malformations [1]. Approximately 170 cases of pial arteriovenous
fistulae have been reported since 1970. It consists of one or more arterial feeders and usually a
single venous channel [2]. The direct arteriovenous shunt results in high venous blood flow and
varix formation with the subsequent risk of haemorrhage. PAVF can be congenital or result from
iatrogenic or traumatic injury [2]. However, the exact cause remains elusive. PAVF may present
with a wide range of neurologic symptoms including an asymptomatic state, head ache, seizures,
focal neurologic deficit to potentially catastrophic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Quasi Contracts
INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE OF QUASI CONTRACTS:
Under the general heading of the Quasi contract there has been grouped a number of cases which
have little or no affinity with contract. A simple illustration is afforded by the action to recover
money paid by mistake. If the plaintiff on an erroneous interpretation of the facts, pays to the
defendant a sum of money which he does not really owe, law, no less than justice, will require he
defendant to restore it. But his obligation is manifestly not based upon the consent, even in the
extended meaning borne by the word in the English law, and its description as a quasi contractual
liability serves only to emphasize its remoteness from any genuine conception of contract.
This shows that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But Lord MANSFIELD preferred the latter theory that the bases for quasi contracts are for the
purpose of prevention of unjust enrichment. THEORY OF IMPLIED IN FACT CONTRACT:
The gist of this kind of action is that the defendant, upon the circumstances of the case, is obliged
by the ties of natural justice and equity to refund the money. But apart from this it should be
observed that did not use the word equity to denote the jurisdiction of chancery but the synonym
for jus naturale . Nor, while he based the obligations of quasi contract upon the duty of restoring
benefits unjustly obtained, did he assert that in every such case an action would lie. As he declared
in Weston v. Downes, I am a great friend to the action for money had and received, and therefore I
am not stretching, lest I should endanger it thus the principle of unjust benefit explained the cases
falling within the scope of quasi contracts: it did not automatically invoke the remedy.
Subject to these qualifications the rationalization of the quasi contract upon the basis of unjust
benefit was accepted for over a hundred years. But when, in the course of the nineteenth century,
the form of the action was replaced by the dichotomy of tort and contract, Lord Mansfield s views
were challenged. According to Lord SUMNER in Sinclair v. Brougham in 1914 the various actions
grouped under the title of quasi contract were clearly not tortious; if the new antithesis of the
common law were inevitable

The Eureka Hunt Summary
The article, The Eureka Hunt, introduces us with the story of a firefighter,Wag Dodge and his

plan; he stopped running, igniting the ground in front of him with a match, drenched his hanker

to scan people s brain while they solved the puzzles to see if it can construct a precise map, both
in time and space, of the insight process. The resulting studies, published in 2004 and 2006, found
that people who solved puzzles with insight were using a portion of the cortical areas. According
to Jung Beeman and Kounios, a small fold of tissue on the surface of the right hemisphere, the
anterior superior temporal gyrus (aSTG) becomes active first before insight occurs. Once the brain
is focused on the problem, the cortex needs to relax, in order for the right hemisphere to provide
insight. But as Jung Beeman and Kounios concluded, by trying to force insight can actually prevent
insight; the brain must focus on the task but at the same time it has to be accidental. Earl Miller, a
neuroscientist at M.I.T., spent years studying the prefrontal

Determination Of An Unknown Amino Acid From Titration Essay
Determination of An Unknown Amino Acid From Titration
Abstract
Experiment 11 used a titration curve to determine the identity of an unknown amino acid. The
initial pH of the solution was 1.96, and the pKa s found experimentally were 2.0, 4.0, and 9.85.
The accepted pKa values were found to be 2.10, 4.07, and 9.47. The molecular weight was
calculated to be
176.3 while the accepted value was found to be 183.5. The identity of the unknown amino acid was
established to be glutamic acid, hydrochloride.
Introduction
Amino acids are simple monomers which are strung together to form polymers
(also called proteins). These monomers are characterized by the general structure shown in figure 1.

This is due to the fact that at the equivalence point the number of moles of titrant equals the
number of moles of acid or base originally present (dependent on if the amino acid is in an acidic
or basic salt form). Another point of interest on a titration curve is the half equivalence point. The
half equivalence point corresponds to the point in which the concentration of weak acid is equal to
the concentration of its conjugate base. The region near the half equivalence point also establishes
a buffer region (Jicha, et al., 1991). (see figure 4).
Fig. 4
The half equivalence point easily allows for the finding of the pKa values of an amino acid. A set
pKa values can be extremely helpful in identifying an amino acid. Through a manipulation of the
Henderson Hasselbalch equation, the pH at the half equivalence point equals the pKa. This is
reasoned because at the half equivalence point the concentration of the conjugate base and the acid
are equal. Therefore the pH equals the pKa at the half equivalence point (see figure 5.)

Examples Of Instinctive Judgment
Instinctive judgment is the motivation of an action in response to external stimuli based on either
behaviour, innateness, or impulsion without involving reason (Encyclopædia Britannica, 2014).
Although instinct is often associated with intuition, they are separate concepts because instinct is
inherent while intuition is acquired; instinct is the inherent inclination to react to a situation due to
an inherited configuration of thought while intuition is the ability to acquire knowledge without
thought. Therefore, to make an instinctive judgment is to make a decision based on your instinct.

Shared knowledge doesn t amplify instinctive judgments as reason checks these judgments.
Shared knowledge is public knowledge acquired over time and communicated from various
sources. In 2009, a group of researchers under the British government sent about 3000 job
applications under false identities, using a mixture of names associated with minority groups and
White sounding names, to uncover racial discrimination among employers against potential
employees. The results showed that applicants who appeared to be White would only have to
send nine applications to receive one positive response while minority applicants would have to
send sixteen applications for the same response (Goodley, 2014). A shared piece of knowledge
among these employers is the stereotype that minorities don t (or aren t) good at speaking English
compared to native English speakers. The stereotype is formed when people associate minorities
with bad English due to personal experiences. Through the combination of emotion, perception,
and reason, their instinctive judgment is to not hire them. However, if these employers used
reason more effectively, they wouldn t base their judgment on the race of the applicant, but the
applicant s skills. This means that the best candidate will get the job and the overall company
will be better off. In fact, Professor Robin Ely of Harvard Business School argues that the racial

The Function Of James And Musculoskeletal System
Case Introduction
James Walsh, a 55 year old male presented symptoms including weakness inferiorly in his right
lower limb and difficulty performing simple tasks such as walking or tying his shoelace. He also
had some difficulties swallowing and often experiences unpredictable movements due to lack of

The function of James musculoskeletal system is primarily to facilitate movement as the

However, James case of spastic cerebral palsy alters the interaction between the musculoskeletal and
nervous system in some areas which are affected.
Case Examination
James condition of spastic cerebral palsy impacts the regulation of muscle tone due to the effect of
spinal reflexes when muscles are slightly contracted (Ballard, F., 2016). Muscle tone is dependent
on the release of alpha motor neurons in the spinal cord (Albright, A.L., 1995). This is regulated
when there is a balance between excitatory impulses and inhibitory impulses. James condition of
cerebral palsy indicates that there is an imbalance between excitatory impulses and inhibitory
impulses. The imbalance between these impulses causes a lack in regulation of muscle tone due to
the insufficient release of alpha motor neurons in the spinal cord (Albright, A.L., 1995). James
excess production of excitatory impulses originates in the golgi tendons of organs and muscle
spindle, a specialised sensory receptor in the muscle (Albright, A.L., 1995). The impulse then
passes through afferent nerves into the spinal cord and releases excitatory neurotransmitters. In
contrast, the lack of ability to generate inhibitory impulses suggest that the regions of the brain
responsible for the generation of inhibitory impulses including the basal ganglia, brain stem and
cerebellum may be damaged (Albright, A.L., 1995). Consequently, the excess of excitatory
impulses may result in

The Pros And Cons Of Reproduction Of Art
Reproduction
Reproduction of art is something that has been done throughout history. As technology advances,
so does the way that people reproduce art. From early ages to current times the reproduction of
art has had a varying opinion as to whether it should or should not be done. Some groups believe
that art should be kept in a small elite community. They are the ones who believe art should not be
reproduced and spread throughout the world. On the other hand, there are those who believe art is
meant to be seen by everyone. This group believes art should be reproduced so that the masses
have an equal opportunity. Time has improved technology, which has aided the ability to reproduce
art.
Art has been recreated in many ways over the ages. In the past, the main means of recreating
would have been to be in front of the original and then to attempt to make an identical copy. The
downside is that there would always be some flaw or difference. On the positive side, this would
still allow far more people to view it. Overtime as technology advanced we have developed new
ways to reproduce art. The next major jump in technology lead us to the invention of the camera.
The camera allowed someone to take a picture of the original, which was far more accurate version
of reproduction. The camera also allowed people to create multiple prints of the photo, meaning a
greater amount of people could to view the image. Berger did not care for what the camera has
done for art as he suggests The uniqueness of every painting was once part of the uniqueness of
the place where it resided. (Berger,114) Technology has advanced even further since John wrote
this literature, but I believe he would be even more disgusted by digital media. With digital
media, we are capable of spreading an image across the world in seconds, and anyone can view it.
John Berger makes a numerous amount of remarks in Ways of Seeing towards what the
reproduction of art has done to the art community. As Berger expresses his opinion in his essay, he
states What the modern means of reproduction have done is to destroy the authority of art and to
remove it. (Berger, page 126) This makes it clear that Berger is against the reproduction of art. This

The Monarch Butterfly Annual Migration
Introduction
The monarch butterfly annual migration is a visually spectacular feat, in terms of the number of
butterflies flying to their overwintering sites and as well as the masses that congregates at the

once controversial, it was not until Fred Urquhart and his colleagues pioneered a tagging work with
the eastern North American population for decades that revealed the long distance of the monarch
migration. The tagging efforts that began in 1937 lead to the discovery of their overwintering sites
in Mexico in 1975. With its long distance traveled and the nature of the predictable and the
repetitive nature of its annual migration. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Environmental factors such as the decrease in day length, cooler temperature and aging milkweed
trigger the monarch to begin its migration, although the precise environmental trigger that initiates
migration is not well understood. When spring arrives, they become reproductively active, mate
and leave Mexico to re migrate north. During the remigration northward the females lay fertilized
eggs on newly emerged milkweeds in the southern parts of the United States (Reppert and others
2010). Their offspring s will also continue the migration up northward to repopulate the northern
section of the monarch habitat range. Even though the monarch migration is repetitive and cyclic in
nature, their migration cycle is multigenerational. It takes about two generations of spring and
summer butterflies that are following the progressive northward emergence of milkweeds to
repopulate the entire range and therefore completing the migration cycle (Reppert and others 2010).
Time Compensated Sun Compass (The Navigational process)
The Monarch butterfly uses a map and a compass like other long distance migrants. The map sense
is needed to determine which direction they are to fly and to stop. The compass sense is utilized so
that the migrants can orient in the southern direction throughout the course of their migration. It
has been shown that the monarch may not have a true map sense, although the monarch

March 16, 2014 English 104 Frederick Douglass Article Analysis
In the reading by Frederick Douglass, Learning to Read, he talks about how he learned how to
read. He grew up in Maryland and he talks about how his mistress, his slave owners wife, taught
him the alphabet and how to read. Eventually she stopped, due to him being a slave he wasn t
suppose to know how to read, and Douglass had to continue to learn how to read by himself. One
thing Frederick Douglass could have done was to put some details about his family. He never
mentioned his mom, dad, siblings or if he had any. If he did it would have interesting to know what
they did or felt about him learning to read and write. It would have also ... Show more content on

How did he get away with gathering the books and finding the time to copy the words? Douglass
could have used some details in describing the scene when he was able to find the time to do
such things and how often was he able to do these things? These are just some thoughts that
aroused in my head while reading this article. The overall article was well written but if
Frederick Douglass would have incorporated some details about his family, like their
whereabouts and their feeling or if they were being taught how to read as well, would have
made the article a little more interesting. Also if Frederick Douglass would have added more
details to his story in certain areas would have made the article fuller and gave the readers a
more vivid picture of how he was being taught how to read and when he found the time to sneak
books and copy the words to learn how to write. These are just a couple things that could have
made the article easier to read and understand because when someone is writing a paper the author
needs to make sure that the audience can understand what the message is clearly and be able to
create an image of what is being said.

Planned Parenthoods
October 20th, 2015 the U.S House voted to end taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood due to
their harvesting of body parts of aborted babies and fetal tissue, among other parts for scientific
research and selling to third party companies to distribute. The companies they sold to used the
parts as they wished for research and supposedly for ingredients in cosmetic wear. Center for
Medical Progress, an anti abortiongroup, released the videos of them secretly meeting with director
of Texas Planned Parenthoods who teaches the methods for abortions for the state, whom explained
that they perform abortions to gather intact fetal specimens. Many types of people claim that such

and AIDS. A professor of University of Wisconsin Madison s law, medicine and public health,
explains that it makes sense that money is involved in the procurement of tissue and organs,
even if that involves fetal specimen. The professor, R. Alta Charo says, It s been going on for 50
or 60 years; it s ordinary practice, she says. There is good reason for it. We want to help the
people who are living or may be living in the future. But according to Eric Ferrero, vice president of
communications at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, says the research has advanced
vaccines, treatments for life threatening diseases, and goes toward finding cures for specific
maternal and infant health conditions. The National Institutes of Health Revitalization Act even
allows for reasonable payments associated with transportation, implantation, processing,
preservation, quality control, or storage of human fetal issue. This law doesn t define reasonable
payments , so violations can be difficut to prove. Most Planned Parenthood facilities and any
abortion provider don t have control over how fetal tissue is ultimately used and many women

of fetal tissue (non medical) and there isn t a standing law that prevents

Rabbit Proof Fence Film Techniques
The picture Rabbit Proof Fence directed by Phillip Noyce is the true tale about three aboriginal
girls called Molly, Daisy and Gracie who get taken from their mother to soon return back over a
long journey. This film represents the past of how the aboriginals in the stolen generations were
treated and taken from their parent so that they could be purified into a more white generation.
During this picture various audio and visual effects are given to display the feelings and emotions
of the characters contained in the film. Phillip Noyce positions the audience into a position to feel
empathy and sympathy for the girls using various background sounds/music and camera techniques
which helps incorporate the message and tragedy about what happened... Show more content on

Sound effects are essential to this film as its sets the scene of the outback desert of Australia. When
the main characters Molly, Daisy and Gracie are traveling across Western Australia to get o
Moore River there isn t any music but there are many sound effects such as trains going along
the tracks and a car traveling across dirt roads. Music has also made you in this movie feel the
emotions of Molly, Daisy and Gracie when they are being taken into their dormitory at the Moore
River Training Camp. During the girls stay at the Moore River Training Camp there wasn t much
background music but it is replaced with a lot of various needed sound effects. Speaking by the
host of the Moore River workers/nuns is the most common sound effects throughout this scene. To
show the expectations the girls are spoken to many times especially when they are at breakfast as
the nuns lead the prairies and the children follow this shows how much the children are being

Summary Of The Skinny On Salt By Jeremy Likeness
Christopher. Hello, Perhaps the reason why salt is not discussed earlier in the chapter is that
humans require the nutrient of salt intake. Per author Jeremy Likeness in the article, the The skinny
on salt at bodybuiliding.com informs that body needs the nutrient of sodium and chloride that
cannot produce in the body. Furthermore, Likeness believes that it is not the sodiumamount that is
important rather the sodium in the diet is the ratio of sodium to potassium(Likeness). As sodium
potassium effects, fluid balance in the body. As a result, if there is too little sodium it will cause
the body to retain water. Unbeknownst to me, I did not realize how important it is to get the right
amount of sodium into my diet. Perhaps Bushman wanted all readers to gain a basic understanding

Education is important to keep the body in top conditioning. A person could workout everyday,
but if they are not customizing their workout to their body s condition, then their outcome will
not be as favorable. Perhaps a high cholesterol awareness week that could offer several fitness
classes highlighting exercises that reduce cholesterol levels. Another method to get the message
out regarding high cholesterol is print and publication. Thus, a flyer or poster could also include a
few great cholesterol factoids, Yet I researched the question and discovered another perspective at

powerful effects on lowering cholesterol. Thus, it is recommended that exercisers mix up their

Term Limit Analysis
Term Limits Needed The Supreme Court has been left without a majority vote and is
dysfunctional. The current fiasco that is happening in Washington with the court being weakened
by other branches of the government is an example of the Supreme Court being diminished by
political battling. Therefore, term limits are necessary because they would reduce political
fighting, younger judges are more in touch and terms will allow more diversity on the court.
Term limits can affect political feuding in a positive way minimizing political arguments. Since
the Supreme Court job is a lifetime job so when it comes to appointing a new judge the
discussions go over the roof debating on whether he or she should be a republican or democrat.
Term limits will not only stable power between the political parties but also allow new
perspectives. In fact, in 2015 two thirds of Americans supported 10 year... Show more content on

Having variety in women and men with different ethnic backgrounds will help the view cases in
a better way. It matters that there s diversity on the court. I think it makes for better lawmaking,
because you have people with more diverse range of judgement and who are going to make a
better decision on the law ( Rachel Maddow 2014). A woman may relate to a case more than a
man which is why diversity is needed. For example, the Roe Vs. Wade trial on abortion that was
all decided by men. It is more likely that if the case had a women involved there would have been
better understanding of the situation. Term limits will have a major impact on the supreme court
because they would decrease political tense, younger judges are more mentally and physically in
touch with current society and terms will allow more diversity on the court. A sharper mentality
will allow a better understanding as well as diversity on the court. Not only will term limits control
the power but will reduce political

The Hallmarks Of A Stem Cell
The hallmarks of a stem cell are its ability to self renew as well as its ability to differentiate and
assume almost any cell fate if given the appropriate cues known as pluripotency (ref). The
differentiation of stem cells requires large and rapid changes in gene expression. miRNAs are well
suited to carry out this task through their ability to simultaneously inhibit the translation of several
target genes allowing for coordinated control of cellular processes{Bartel:2009fh}. Furthermore,
miRNAs have been shown to regulate embryonic development in addition to their role in regulating
stem cellfate{Stefani:2008bw}. Evidence for this comes from experimental studies where the
overall function of the miRNA biogenesis pathway was evaluated through genetic deletion of the
miRNA processing enzymes DICER, DGCR8, Drosha, and AGO2. DICER knockout mice die at
early stages of embryogenesis and fail to express the stem cell marker Oct4 and primitive streak
marker T (brachyury), which respectively indicate a loss of stem cells and arrested development
during gastrulation{Bernstein:2003dp}. Furthermore, DICER deficient mouse ES cells are viable
but incapable of differentiation, showing severe proliferation defects{Kanellopoulou:2005kf,
Murchison:2005fa}. Similarly, DGCR8 knockout mice arrest early in development{Wang:2007gb}.
DGCR8 deficient mouse ES cells also exhibit a proliferation defect and cannot efficiently silence
the ES cell program, although these defects are not as

Pepsi Vs Cola Wars Research Paper
PepsiCo and the Coca Cola Company have competed with each other for as long as most people

The two products are similar, but there are minuscule differences that are the deal breaker for
many individuals. When looking at the popular choice of soft drinks between Pepsi and Coke,
Coca Colawould be considered the winner due to its well known enterprise, taste, and nutritional
value.
Coca Cola is a popular soft drink and one of the top American brands sold across numerous
countries. Coca Cola was sold thirteen years before Pepsi Cola. About a million gallons of Coke

Simon Bolivar has been considered by many historians as the liberator of the Americas, he lead an
army that liberated Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia from the Spanish rule. Bolivar
dreamed in having these countries unified as one big country called The Gran Colombia . These
countries would have shared a centralized government and would have had the city of Bogota as its

With magnanimous sincerity, San Martin offered to place himself and his soldiers under
Bolivar s command if he would send the full Colombian army to drive the Spanish out of Peru.
Unfortunately for the patriot cause, Bolivar apparently regarded San Martin as a rival and an
antagonist rather than as a comrade in arms, an obstacle to be removed before his own fame and
glory were compromised by sharing them with another. Bolivar refused the incredibly selfless
offer, saying that his delicacy would not allow him to command San Martin, and that the
Colombian Congress would not permit him to leave Colombia to pursue the war in Peru. San
Martin also indicated in an interview that he San Martin, a keen reader of men, immediately
perceived the arrogance and raw ambition that lay behind the mask of courtly civility and empty
excuses. Years later, in 1840, while living in voluntary exile in France, the general confided his
candid assessment of Bolivar s character to a visitor, Captain Lafond de Lurcy of the French navy:
At first sight his personal appearance prejudiced me against him. He appeared to have much pride,

The Iran-Iraq War Essay
The Iran Iraq War
While the Iran Iraq War during the 1980 s may have permanently altered the course of progress in
Iran and Iraq, the war also altered the resulting permanent involvement of the rest of the world in
the middle east. The rich and complicated history in Iraq has established numerous cultural and
ethnic traditions that all play a part in where the country is today. The Iran Iraq War brought into
focus some of those traditions and how they conflicted, while also bringing Iraq and its economic
situation into the spotlight. Being on top of some of the most mineral rich soil in the world makes
Iraq a major contributor to the world s economy through petroleum and crude oil exports. This,

The Safavids were the first the first to declare Shia Islam the official religion of Iran, and their
interest in Iraq lay in the Shia holy places in central Iraq, and also the fact that Baghdad held
significant symbolic value as the seat of the ancient Abbasid Empire. The Ottoman Empire on the
other hand was afraid that Shia Islam would spread to Asia Minor, and thus looked to control Iraq
as a Sunni dominated buffer state. During the Ottoman period, the Sunnis were placed in political
positions, while the Shias were then shut out of the political process. This divide between the
Sunnis and the Shias continued to be more and more of an important element in the Iraqi social
structure, and remains an issue even today. It was also during this time period that the Kurdish
Baban Dynasty emerged and began to organize resistance to the Ottoman rule in Northern Iraq.
Then came the First World War and with it the defeat of the German army and their allies,
including Turkey. As a result in 1919, Iraq, as well as Palestine, came under the control of Great
Britain who proceeded to draw out the borders and establish a government that would best suit
them. The years which followed were filled with revolutions, jihad, and unrest, as the British sought
to maintain control of a nation with which they knew very little about.

  • 3. Analysis Of The Story Going Back Home As people journey through life, they discover many qualities they hold that make them unique and interesting. These qualities differentiate them from others, and help form their identity. In the stories we have read in class, such as Going Back Home , written by Toyomi Igus and Michele Wood, Nei Um Lung, Ma? by May Yee, and The Jade Peony by Wayson Choy, the characters hobbies, beliefs, and familyroots make them unique and interesting. Due to many factors, including different experiences in life, an individual develops many aspects in their identity that are different from others. Hobbies, which are adopted and changed throughout one s life, express who an individual is. There are many different reasons as to why people adopt hobbies. It may be a way to pass the time, to express their likes and dislikes, or a way for them to channel their emotions. In the story Going Back Home , the narrator explains how the painter, Michelle Wood, expressed her life and her ancestors lives through her art. She created self portraits to show different aspects of her life, her grandparents lives, and a blue musician s life, utilizing the colours, patterns, and objects to depict their hardships, culture, and opportunities. It s also the Greek word for butterfly. If you have a protagonist in a story whose name is Psyche, you might expect that she will go through a major transition and crisis. Will she survive it? Will she come through and be transformed, or will she die? That s one way of looking at the Psyche myth. Those of you who heard Robert Bly s White Bear story on the first day of this conference heard a variation of the Eros and Psyche myth. What good is knowing that you are in a very dysfunctional relationship, if you haven t the capacity...that is the symbol of the knife...to draw a boundary, to discriminate, to cut it off, to end the relationship if it turns out that what you see really is negative? In this part of the story, Psyche takes both symbols in her hand. As you know, when she raises the lamp and sees her unseen lover, her unknown bridegroom, he turns out to be the immature god of love, Eros. Immature in that he was carrying on this secret affair. He had promised his mother, the goddess Aphrodite, that he would punish Psyche who was so identified with the goddess because of her beauty that the goddess s shrines were ignored. People were worshipping a human girl as if she was a goddess, and the goddess plotted revenge for what psychologically is true. If you identify with an archetype, you lose your humanity, your individuality. You get inflated by it. You get taken over by it. You do get Aphrodite s revenge. In this case Aphrodite had told her son Eros to aim his arrows at Psyche in punishment so that she would fall in love with the vilest of men. This is the negative power of Aphrodite and Eros: to have Psyche fall in love with someone who would really be vile for her and her development. Instead Eros sees Psyche and falls in love with her himself. He decides to keep all that from Mother, and so he s been having this clandestine, hidden affair ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Society uses order to regulate all aspects of the world from nature to personal lives, while chaos allows for open mindedness and also provides an explanation for certain aspects of the world. This can be seen in science, theology, music, language, and imaginative play. Science is rational, logical, and orderly. Anthropology, fossils, and other material evidence provide proof of evolution by similarities between organisms of the past and present ,including the controversial belief that humans evolved from apes. All these discoveries discredit the belief that humans were created to posses dominion over the world, and all that was created has existed from the beginning. The five percent of fundamentalists that are radical and use violence and other unusual means to support their views have made fundamentalism seem extreme and crazy. They discriminate against other Christians, who do not have their same views, and deem them not real Christians. They are also completely intolerant of other religions, offering no salvation outside their faith. Throughout the ages these two groups have clashed as seen in the trial of Galileo. The common denominator in Galileo s trial ,and other controversies between the ideologies is each group s stubbornness and intolerance of other views. One view can not exist without the other ,and they are both impractical and incomplete. The joining of the two is essential for a human being and the world as a whole. This point is clearly illustrated in the Library of Babel where all was known ,yet chaos was rampant because no faith could exist. Multiple communication methods and the availability of the Internet have made a large world much smaller in the context of information sharing, so the importance of understanding and utilizing measures to protect intellectual propertyand copyrights is vital to business success, ethical understanding and acceptance. In the following, I will specifically discuss the concepts of copyright, intellectual property, and piracy. Copyrights are a form of intellectual property, and the concepts of piracy and plagiarism threatens the viability and integrity of both. Understanding these concepts helps shape individual and business codes of ethics. Copyright and Intellectual Property Copyrights are defined by the United States Copyright office as original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works (Copyright Basics, n.d.). The laws protect these works whether they are published or not. Copyright laws protect these works from their time of inception and are not required to be registered, though registration assists notifying the public about the work and makes it easier for original owners to lay claim to the copyright if it has been infringed upon. Copyright laws can be traced all the way back to the early 1700 s when the first laws were enacted to protect the works of individuals. According to the Intellectual ... Most of the suggestions are holiday themed, since Thanksgiving has just passed, and cranberry sauce is associated with Thanksgiving in America. The structure is simple, looking like something out of a Western cookbook. On the top, there is a depiction of what the cranberrysauce should look like, the amount of time it takes to prepare and cook the sauce, and how many people it serves. Underneath that, there is a sentence exclaiming that the dish is delicious and the last recipe you will ever try. Next, they list the ingredients, and give the instructions. This is easily followed, and simple for this ritualized dish. The techniques in this recipe are extremely simple, requiring only a pot, a heat source, preferably a stove, and a cooling area. Water and sugar are brought to a boil. Once they are boiling, the cranberries are added, and heated until they explode. Then, they are cooled to form a gelatinized dish. Cranberries are native to the northeastern United States, which is why they are important during the Thanksgiving Feast. Thanksgiving is meant to commemorate the first feast between pilgrims and natives (before we killed them all brutally, but that s another story). For this reason, the foods served are supposed to represent what was served during the first Thanksgiving. Since cranberries are native to the region, many believe that they were present during the first Thanksgiving. However, I highly doubt that they were sweetened by sugar, which was brought to this region through trade. In this short film like music video, the storyline overpowers the song and intensifies its theme and tone. The suspense and bold images made it impossible to look away from the screen. Its characters demonstrated that people seek revenge for the things they find valuable to maintain or gain power. The title and the most repeated phrase in the song does not directly correspond to the song`s message. Rihanna used the scenario of someone owing her money to signify power and revenge. As one can see from all of the insane scenes in the video, that it is about going after what you want no matter what. The main characterwas completely focused on getting her money back so much that everything else was irrelevant. The steps she took including kidnapping and torturing the banker s wife were solely for revenge on the banker, because the wife is not involved in the situation. Her actions were dangerous, however in Rihanna`s character`s perspective, these steps were trivial because taking back what was her was more important. Quasi Contracts INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE OF QUASI CONTRACTS: Under the general heading of the Quasi contract there has been grouped a number of cases which have little or no affinity with contract. A simple illustration is afforded by the action to recover money paid by mistake. If the plaintiff on an erroneous interpretation of the facts, pays to the defendant a sum of money which he does not really owe, law, no less than justice, will require he defendant to restore it. But his obligation is manifestly not based upon the consent, even in the extended meaning borne by the word in the English law, and its description as a quasi contractual liability serves only to emphasize its remoteness from any genuine conception of contract. This shows that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But Lord MANSFIELD preferred the latter theory that the bases for quasi contracts are for the purpose of prevention of unjust enrichment. THEORY OF IMPLIED IN FACT CONTRACT: The gist of this kind of action is that the defendant, upon the circumstances of the case, is obliged by the ties of natural justice and equity to refund the money. But apart from this it should be observed that did not use the word equity to denote the jurisdiction of chancery but the synonym for jus naturale . Nor, while he based the obligations of quasi contract upon the duty of restoring benefits unjustly obtained, did he assert that in every such case an action would lie. As he declared in Weston v. Downes, I am a great friend to the action for money had and received, and therefore I am not stretching, lest I should endanger it thus the principle of unjust benefit explained the cases falling within the scope of quasi contracts: it did not automatically invoke the remedy. Subject to these qualifications the rationalization of the quasi contract upon the basis of unjust benefit was accepted for over a hundred years. But when, in the course of the nineteenth century, the form of the action was replaced by the dichotomy of tort and contract, Lord Mansfield s views were challenged. According to Lord SUMNER in Sinclair v. Brougham in 1914 the various actions grouped under the title of quasi contract were clearly not tortious; if the new antithesis of the common law were inevitable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The resulting studies, published in 2004 and 2006, found that people who solved puzzles with insight were using a portion of the cortical areas. According to Jung Beeman and Kounios, a small fold of tissue on the surface of the right hemisphere, the anterior superior temporal gyrus (aSTG) becomes active first before insight occurs. Once the brain is focused on the problem, the cortex needs to relax, in order for the right hemisphere to provide insight. This is due to the fact that at the equivalence point the number of moles of titrant equals the number of moles of acid or base originally present (dependent on if the amino acid is in an acidic or basic salt form). Another point of interest on a titration curve is the half equivalence point. The half equivalence point corresponds to the point in which the concentration of weak acid is equal to the concentration of its conjugate base. The region near the half equivalence point also establishes a buffer region (Jicha, et al., 1991). (see figure 4). Fig. 4 The half equivalence point easily allows for the finding of the pKa values of an amino acid. A set pKa values can be extremely helpful in identifying an amino acid. Through a manipulation of the Henderson Hasselbalch equation, the pH at the half equivalence point equals the pKa. This is reasoned because at the half equivalence point the concentration of the conjugate base and the acid are equal. Therefore the pH equals the pKa at the half equivalence point (see figure 5.) Another reason for my choice in topics is because I already knew about some of the things revolving around my thesis, my thesis being how America s encounter resulted in a sanitized, non stereotyped and easily accessible form of media. Even though I had background information on my topic, researching it gave me material I could build upon and use to support the reasons behind my thesis. Now that you know the topic that this project is based on, it would probably be important for you to know where most of my information was derived from. Most the information used in this project came from my own background knowledge and the internet. Background knowledge on this topic was especially useful since it helped with figuring out what to focus on and building ideas. The format I chose for presenting my topic was the performance format due to the well executed examples I ve seen. Another reason for my choice in format was an Animewhere at the end of each episode had a comedic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Examples Of Instinctive Judgment Instinctive judgment is the motivation of an action in response to external stimuli based on either behaviour, innateness, or impulsion without involving reason (Encyclopædia Britannica, 2014). Although instinct is often associated with intuition, they are separate concepts because instinct is inherent while intuition is acquired; instinct is the inherent inclination to react to a situation due to an inherited configuration of thought while intuition is the ability to acquire knowledge without thought. Shared knowledge doesn t amplify instinctive judgments as reason checks these judgments. Shared knowledge is public knowledge acquired over time and communicated from various sources. In 2009, a group of researchers under the British government sent about 3000 job applications under false identities, using a mixture of names associated with minority groups and White sounding names, to uncover racial discrimination among employers against potential employees. The results showed that applicants who appeared to be White would only have to send nine applications to receive one positive response while minority applicants would have to send sixteen applications for the same response (Goodley, 2014). A shared piece of knowledge among these employers is the stereotype that minorities don t (or aren t) good at speaking English compared to native English speakers. The stereotype is formed when people associate minorities with bad English due to personal experiences. Through the combination of emotion, perception, and reason, their instinctive judgment is to not hire them. However, if these employers used reason more effectively, they wouldn t base their judgment on the race of the applicant, but the applicant s skills. This means that the best candidate will get the job and the overall company will be better off. In fact, Professor Robin Ely of Harvard Business School argues that the racial diversity of workers does benefit the company (Lagace, 2004). As a result, he primarily uses a wheelchair and requires careful assistance when performing everyday activities. The function of James musculoskeletal system is primarily to facilitate movement as the contraction of his muscles pull on bone to carry out an action. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, James case of spastic cerebral palsy alters the interaction between the musculoskeletal and nervous system in some areas which are affected. Case Examination James condition of spastic cerebral palsy impacts the regulation of muscle tone due to the effect of spinal reflexes when muscles are slightly contracted (Ballard, F., 2016). Muscle tone is dependent on the release of alpha motor neurons in the spinal cord (Albright, A.L., 1995). This is regulated when there is a balance between excitatory impulses and inhibitory impulses. James condition of cerebral palsy indicates that there is an imbalance between excitatory impulses and inhibitory impulses. The imbalance between these impulses causes a lack in regulation of muscle tone due to the insufficient release of alpha motor neurons in the spinal cord (Albright, A.L., 1995). James excess production of excitatory impulses originates in the golgi tendons of organs and muscle spindle, a specialised sensory receptor in the muscle (Albright, A.L., 1995). The impulse then passes through afferent nerves into the spinal cord and releases excitatory neurotransmitters. In contrast, the lack of ability to generate inhibitory impulses suggest that the regions of the brain responsible for the generation of inhibitory impulses including the basal ganglia, brain stem and cerebellum may be damaged (Albright, A.L., 1995). Consequently, the excess of excitatory impulses may result in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Pros And Cons Of Reproduction Of Art Reproduction Reproduction of art is something that has been done throughout history. As technology advances, so does the way that people reproduce art. From early ages to current times the reproduction of art has had a varying opinion as to whether it should or should not be done. Some groups believe that art should be kept in a small elite community. They are the ones who believe art should not be reproduced and spread throughout the world. On the other hand, there are those who believe art is meant to be seen by everyone. This group believes art should be reproduced so that the masses have an equal opportunity. Time has improved technology, which has aided the ability to reproduce art. Art has been recreated in many ways over the ages. In the past, the main means of recreating would have been to be in front of the original and then to attempt to make an identical copy. The downside is that there would always be some flaw or difference. On the positive side, this would still allow far more people to view it. Overtime as technology advanced we have developed new ways to reproduce art. The next major jump in technology lead us to the invention of the camera. The camera allowed someone to take a picture of the original, which was far more accurate version of reproduction. The camera also allowed people to create multiple prints of the photo, meaning a greater amount of people could to view the image. Berger did not care for what the camera has done for art as he suggests The uniqueness of every painting was once part of the uniqueness of the place where it resided. (Berger,114) Technology has advanced even further since John wrote this literature, but I believe he would be even more disgusted by digital media. With digital media, we are capable of spreading an image across the world in seconds, and anyone can view it. John Berger makes a numerous amount of remarks in Ways of Seeing towards what the reproduction of art has done to the art community. As Berger expresses his opinion in his essay, he states What the modern means of reproduction have done is to destroy the authority of art and to remove it. (Berger, page 126) This makes it clear that Berger is against the reproduction of art. This connects him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Environmental factors such as the decrease in day length, cooler temperature and aging milkweed trigger the monarch to begin its migration, although the precise environmental trigger that initiates migration is not well understood. When spring arrives, they become reproductively active, mate and leave Mexico to re migrate north. During the remigration northward the females lay fertilized eggs on newly emerged milkweeds in the southern parts of the United States (Reppert and others 2010). Their offspring s will also continue the migration up northward to repopulate the northern section of the monarch habitat range. Even though the monarch migration is repetitive and cyclic in nature, their migration cycle is multigenerational. It takes about two generations of spring and summer butterflies that are following the progressive northward emergence of milkweeds to repopulate the entire range and therefore completing the migration cycle (Reppert and others 2010). Time Compensated Sun Compass (The Navigational process) The Monarch butterfly uses a map and a compass like other long distance migrants. The map sense is needed to determine which direction they are to fly and to stop. The Hallmarks Of A Stem Cell The hallmarks of a stem cell are its ability to self renew as well as its ability to differentiate and assume almost any cell fate if given the appropriate cues known as pluripotency (ref). The differentiation of stem cells requires large and rapid changes in gene expression. miRNAs are well suited to carry out this task through their ability to simultaneously inhibit the translation of several target genes allowing for coordinated control of cellular processes{Bartel:2009fh}. Furthermore, miRNAs have been shown to regulate embryonic development in addition to their role in regulating stem cellfate{Stefani:2008bw}. Evidence for this comes from experimental studies where the overall function of the miRNA biogenesis pathway was evaluated through genetic deletion of the miRNA processing enzymes DICER, DGCR8, Drosha, and AGO2. DICER knockout mice die at early stages of embryogenesis and fail to express the stem cell marker Oct4 and primitive streak marker T (brachyury), which respectively indicate a loss of stem cells and arrested development during gastrulation{Bernstein:2003dp}. Furthermore, DICER deficient mouse ES cells are viable but incapable of differentiation, showing severe proliferation defects{Kanellopoulou:2005kf, Murchison:2005fa}.
