Symbolism In Apocalypse Now
The movie Apocalypse Now by Francis Ford Coppola is an adaption of the book Heart of Darkness by
Joseph Conrad. A Green Beret or Special Forces Captain in the Army is tasked with hunting down and
killing an ex Special Forces Colonel, Colonel Kurtz who is played by Marlon Brando, that turned
rogue. The movie is set during the Middle of the Vietnam War. Captain Willard, played by Martin
Sheen, is depicted as slightly insane and wavering between the lines of morality. In the beginning shot
the song This is the End by The Doors is the score played while images of massive explosions are
shown. At first, we see beautiful scenery of palm trees that are then destroyed by what appears to be
napalm. This seemingly random shot depicts one of the main themes of the whole movie; the savage
madness of war and the detrimental effect it has on the human psyche. We also see this when Willard
is lying on his bed and his face is super imposed over a fan which closely resemble helicopter blades.

You also see a similar effect on Lance as they travel further down the river he camouflages his face,
depicting his transition from sanity into madness. Later Lance is seen standing in the rain, which is
symbolic of him cleansing his soul and washing away the madness war instilled in him. One iconic
scene, which clearly depicts how war has had an effect on the human psyche, is when Captain Willard
encounters Colonel

My Experience In My Life
As time went by, it seemed to fly faster and faster. Soon, it was the summer between my sophomore
and junior years and I had an abundance of plans for how to spend my summer. One event stood out
compared to all of the others. It would greatly influence my life and shape my my thoughts to the way
they are today. Reminiscing on the events of my past, my journey to the glamorous mountains of
Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico to hike for a week is indisputably the greatest memory of my
life so far. Our Boy Scout troop congregated at the Grimes South Sports Complex at way too early of
a time on a Friday morning. Nobody felt tired, however, due to our excitement for the launch of our
trek. We had been preparing for this adventure for over a year. Our moms took the pictures that are
typical of moms, then we left in cars headed for Kansas City. I was fortunate to be placed in the
vehicle that some of my closer friends were in and we had a blast on the car ride to KC. From there,
we boarded a train which would take us to our destination of Cimarron, New Mexico, the closest form
of civilization to Philmont. Travelling by train was a unique experience. The seats were extremely
comfortable and could spin around. Each seat was situated by a large window that spanned from the
ceiling to the floor allowing for a phenomenal view of the passing scenery. The food on the meal cart
was scrumptious. It was essentially a much more pleasureable plane ride. After about twelve hours, we
stumbled

Enron And The Sarbanes-Oxley Act
The stock market crash in 1929 resulted in increased government regulation of businesses (Kieso,
Weygandt, Warfield, 2013). As a result, the United States government established the Securities and
Exchange Commission (SEC) on June 6, 1934 to help develop and standardize financial information
presented to stockholders (Hoyle, Schaefer, Doupnik, 2013; Kieso, Weygandt, Warfield, 2013).
Although the SEC was created over eighty years ago, reporting requirements has evolved with the
Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX), the SEC s authority over generally accepted accounting principles
(GAAP), and the numerous mandated filings with the SEC.
Prior to the SOX, the SEC required independent external auditors to disclose the services provided

Explain Why Is Nelson Mandela A Role Model
Task 1
Why is Nelson Mandela a role model for so many people in the world?
Nelson Mandela decided already as a young man to take part in the freedom struggle for his people as
a lawyer. He was a black man who had political opinions and lived in a country with non coloured
regime. You may see that he wasn t much liked by the apartheid regime. He was imprisoned for 27
years of his life but that couldn t break him. He only grew stronger. The regime fought the majority of
South Africa with power, but Nelson Mandela fought with words. If that isn t a good role model, then
who is? Who do you look to as a similar role model and why?
I look to Martin Luther King as a similar role model. That is because he fought for anti segregation
and equal rights ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many have big dreams about making big changes in the world. We want to help and we want to
matter. Often these dreams don t go anywhere. They are too big, take long time and much energy.
Often dreams stay just as dreams and maybe you even forget them too. You watch TV and suddenly
some poor and hungry children that live somewhere in Africa appears and you think Oh I wish I could
do something . Nowadays there are some things that we can do to help. We can donate money and we
send old clothes that we don t use anymore. These small things for us are a huge difference for them.
A normal meal for us may be the same for them as food for a whole month or so. Do what your heart
says and follow your dream is a common saying. It s easier said than done is also a saying and in this
case they fit well together. It s not always easy to follow your dream or what your heart says. But the
dream you follow don t have to be the biggest and hardest one. Maybe you have a smaller and easier
dream you can choose that also makes a change. Sometimes people think I have to do that not because
they want to but because they feel that they have to. Not everything you do have to be for others
benefit, it s important to do things that makes you happy and you want to do. Also what you do can
make other happy even if it s just for yourself because sometimes that you are happy, makes them

Langer Article Critique Essay
Reflecting on Practice: using learning journals in higher and continuing education
Teachers College
Reflecting on Practice: using learning journals in higher and continuing education Langer (2002)
central focus is plainly stated in the introduction, which is how the use of journals impacted the
learning process of adult non traditional students and how this impact compared to that of traditional
students .
The purpose of this article critique is to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the Langer (2002)
article. The body of the critique will develop the five major elements, which begin with the research
question/problem to include the author s purpose for writing the article. The next element is the
conceptual framework, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the use of learning journals in technology fields in higher education among non traditional
students is lacking. From these statements the reviewer can determine that the review of literature is
appropriate and critically analyzes published learning journals by the use of summaries and
comparisons.
The methodology section was explained in sufficient detail. It allowed its readers to address the
research questions/problems. Langer (2002) uses two principle modes of inquiry, which are: review of
learning journals submitted by students; and interviewing selected students who completed the course.
The population was identified and selected by using three components in the process. The interview
guide that was provided to two researchers, and not the interviewees, is an indication that the results
would prove reliable. The results from the interviews allowed the researchers to further assess the
significance and relative successes of the participant journals.
The results and findings were clearly explained and examined all aspects of the study. Langer (2002)
gives a clear table indicating the demographic variables of ten students who took part in the study. The
nine interview questions offered a review of how the students responded toward the use of journals in
the course. Some common themes emerged from the journal readings and interview question
responses. The implications of the results and findings were

Presidential Election Of 1988 Pitted Vice President
The election of 1988 pitted Vice President George H.W Bush against Massachusetts Governor
Michael Dukakis. Coming off the back of President Reagan s second term, Vice President Bush
needed to build on the sense of optimism that Reagan had instilled and make a case for continuity.
Governor Dukakis on the other hand had to try and paint himself as good alternative to some of the
pitfalls of President Reagan s later years. Coming off an economic collapse, insider trading scandals,
and a growing drug problem, there was no shortage of material for ad agencies to work with. The ads
from 1988 paint a picture of an overall negative race, even when compared to 2016 s charged election,
while also producing some of the most infamous and effective ads in campaign history. Judging from
the ads alone, 1988 would be seen as a negative campaign. While both candidates had positive ads, the
most remembered from this election year are three negative ads put out on the Republican side. The
fact that the three most memorable all came from one side speak to a difference in production quality
as well. Based solely off the ads, the Republican party seemed to have the most unity of message as
well as a coherent plan. Two of the three big ads have to do with Governor Dukakis s record on crime.
The first, run only once by and developed by a PAC, talked about Willie Horton, a convicted murderer
who was furloughed under the Massachusetts system. While furloughed, he escaped and then
assaulted a man

Evaluating The Sources Of Data Variable Is A Controlled Or...
A hypothesis is a point of research for evaluating the sources of data in either a controlled or
uncontrolled experiment using variables. An hypothesis is the prediction that requires the process of
being proved of being false or true (Bowles, 2013). A hypothesis must be clear and simple to
understand that states the purpose of a test. It must contain logical and be testable. The hypothesis
defines what data variable are considered for testing. The development of a hypothesis begins with
identifying the object with an abstract concept of the research and relationship to a statement being
evaluated (Bowles, 2013). There are four stages to testing a hypothesis in statics. The four stages are
state the hypothesis, set criteria for a decision, collect the data, and evaluated the data. A hypothesis
statement contains two parts a null hypothesis and and alternative hypothesis. The null hypothesis is
represented as Ho or Hn that is believed to be true or a basis for an argument (Tayor, 2016). It always
has a equal sign (Tanner Youssef Morgan, 2013). The alternative hypothesis is represented as Hi or Ha
that is established as an opposite of the Ho. Ha can only be reached by the rejection of the Ho. Ha is
the desired outcome. A example of a stated hypothesis is as followed: Ho: p = p, and Ha: p =/= p
(Zhong Zhong, 2013). The criteria for accepting and rejecting the hypothesis depends on a specific
calculated value set by the research. The criteria value has to

Internal Conflict In Lisa See
The author uses characterization by revealing the internal conflict to create meanings in variety of
ways. The characterization of this essay will be written about main characters actions. My argument is
that despite the love family give to lily and lily wanting to get loved, future husband uses his power to
fade lily s tenderness within her family. So I will approach this essay by describing the action lily did
and will also approach this by analyzing the action.
In the book Lisa See shows that lily needs a strong feeling of affection. When the family is doing

feeling. Referring to the book Lily s love is fading because of Tonkou. First they love each other but
now there relationship is fading because now Tonkou is treating her as the House worker Obey, obey,
obey, then do what you want. Lisa Lee 53. This is the same topic as the other one just it is saying that

husband first and do whatever you want second. Anyone who says that women do not have influence
in men s decisions makes a vast and stupid mistake. Lisa Lee. Women who does not have influence it
considered as bad people because women are suppose to listen to men and follow the mens directions.

doing the same thing. Tonkou gives directions and Lily has to follow his direction no matter what.

The Wife s Story By Ursula K Le Guin
The Wife s Story Ursula K. Le Guin s purpose in The Wife s Story is to demonstrate that no one is as
open with their secrets as you think they are. She expresses this through characterization and
foreshadowing through the narrator s eyes. By contrasting the husband being a good husband and one
who was nice with his family with him acting unusual by not wanting to talk about it and turning into
the hateful one, Le Guin illustrates the husband acting secretive and not as open as he used to be with
his wife. The husband altering to a human represents his secretive behavior, whilst the husband being
purely good and a hard worker represents his more open persona. Likewise, Guin writes in a format
that allows the narrator to speak

Jessica Vs. Amber
Although people generate a separate profile for each individual they meet, sometimes the profiles are
incredibly different. In high school everyone befriends many persons of different races, personalities,
as well as social groups, yet we tend to befriend remarkably similar individuals. Rarely do we realize,
some people are actually more different than we know. Freshman year, I entered into a world all
different than what I was used to, but yet I made two amazing friends. Jessica and Amber both loved
school, friends, and doing art outside of school. Although between them are many differences, but a
few stand out from the others. College and work ethic, their personalities, and talents differ greatly.
Work and education bring forward some attributes in people that are extremely different from others.
Jessica and Amber are extremely different, especially in this way. Jessica loves to learn in general but
does not like education. Jessica doesn t look to books for her knowledge, but acquires more common
sense than most people I know. She has no plans on attending college any time soon, but had rather
enter directly into the workforce. Jessica once said, I don t care for going to college, it s pointless to

Homo Habilis Essay
Homo Habilis
Hominids with a brain absolutely and relatively larger than that of the australopithecines appeared
about 2.3 million years ago. These hominids are classified in our own genus: Homo. The earliest
species to appear was the Homo Habilis. It was the first of our ancestors to show a significant increase
in brain size and also the first to be found associated with stone tools. These characteristics resulted in
this species placement into the human genus, Homo.
Discovery
The first fossil was found in 1960 when a team led by scientists Louis and Mary Leakey uncovered
the fossilized remains of a unique early human at Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania.

Dental microwear studies suggest that the diet of H. habilis was flexible and versatile and that they
were capable of eating a broad range of foods, including some tougher foods like leaves, woody
plants, roots, berries and some animal tissues (birds and insects), but that they did not routinely
consume or specialize in eating hard foods like brittle nuts or seeds, dried meat, or very hard tubers.
They also were scroungers who even ate dead animals that they found left by other larger predators.
Surviving and Toolmaking
Homo is a Latin word meaning human or man . The word habilis is based on a Latin word meaning
handy or skilful . This species is known as handy man because stone tools were found near its fossil
remains and it is assumed this species had developed the ability to modify stone into tools.
Homo habilis is thought to have mastered the Lower Paleolithic Olduwan tool set which used stone
flakes. These stone flakes were more advanced than any tools previously used, and gave H. habilis the
edge it needed to prosper in hostile environments previously too formidable for primates.
By a method called direct percussion, a core stone called a biface was hit with a hammer stone to
produce flakes. The biface was made into choppers called the Oldawan pebble

National Association For Gifted Students
The era of the 1950s and 1960s ushered in new priorities for the education of America s students as
well as the social, judicial, political and organizational structure of our nation s schools. Some of the
challenges that the educational system faced were facilitated by federal and state interventions.
Interventions such as The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) No Child Left Behind,
(NCLB) and Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) are just a few federal and state interventions that had
a tremendous impact on the way we educate and motivate children to learn.

Racial Conflicts
What is race and ethnicity? Can racial conflicts be eliminated by education? Can there be a time where
one s colour or background did not matter? Every modern day society faces racial conflicts. Humans
are equal, whether they are white or black, etc. Hatred among different racial groups is common in out
modern day society. Ignorance of the equality of every human causes racism. Humans need laws to
follow and the lack of these laws cause conflict between humans. Erin Gruwell was optimistic about
teaching a class of so many different backgrounds but it was much more challenging to get through to
such angry teenagers. Racial conflicts in America include gang violence, and even murder. The

Rescuing a society from racial conflicts will cause a lot of people their jobs and even their lives but at
the end it will be worth it for later generations. The situation in the film where Eva Benitez has to be a
witness against an innocent teenager to save one of her own is an example of rescuing a society. She
knew that her boyfriend killed the Asian guy but was influenced by her parents and friends to testify
against a black guy who was also a suspect. With time, Eva realized that a criminal must be found
even if it was someone she loves and that made her tell the truth to the judge about who killed the
Asian guy.
Another example of the ignorance of the equality of humans is when Tito drew a picture of a black
man with big fat lips and passed it through the students until it got to Jamal Hill which was affected by
the photo. The cause of these immature actions is feeling the need to disrespect others because one is
not being respected themselves. Tito was proud and he reached his goal by bringing down Jamal s self
esteem. When the teacher saw that drawing of a black man with big lips, she made a reference to The
Second World War. She also made a reference to a gang during The Second World War who started
out poor, angry, and looked down upon. This gang was given importance when Adolf Hitler came into
power in Germany and that is when The Holocaust began. The Nazi s had a certain outlook on the
superior race and hated Jewish people. They

Hope From a King Essays
Hope From a King
Darkness cannot drive out the darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love
can do that. This quote from a long and memorable list of Dr. Martin Luther King quotes offers some
much needed solace, and hope in today s troubled world. The darkness that Dr. King refers to can
symbolize many things today and the hate he mentions is as strong today as it was four decades ago;
only we are dealing with a different kind of hate.
In today s world, darkness is apparent every corner you turn, with the daily atrocities being committed
in southern Sudan and the ongoing conflict in Iraq serving as prime examples. Over 30 countries are
actively engaged in civil war, and there is the constant threat of ... Show more content on

There are still ways in which light can drive out the darkness that is prevalent in our world today.
Every nation claims that they are building up arms to defend their people in case of an attack. This is a
perfect example of the darkness that is embedded in the world. People s psyches are so concerned
about the worst of possibilities that we seldom look at the positive ways in which we can improve our
world for the better. The light that can offer some answers may be the consent of all nations to reach
an agreement on every major international issue such as the battle over nuclear weapons. I find it hard
to believe that in a world where we have so much potential to rid the ills of society with diplomacy,
we often resolve to arms and violence.
Dr. King was referring to the plight of African Americans (particularly in the South) when he said that
hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Dr. King was in essence preaching to those that
wanted integration, and civil rights that the only way you can achieve anything is with love. Dr. King
knew that hate often results in violence, and using violence as a means to a gain at a time when our
nation was engaged in a deadly war will not have been in the best interest of a nation that needed
cohesiveness amongst all its citizens. In the history of the world, hate has never produced a good
result. Hitler s hatred of Jews resulted in the massacre of over six million Jews. In Rwanda, over

That figure would include the cost of an initial scale of weaponry and spare parts, as well as hangar

The government would find it extremely difficult to justify that price. For the cost of a Rafale, the
Indian Air Force (IAF) could buy 4 5 Sukhoi 30MKI, or 10 Tejas light fighters, points out Bharat

Prescription Drugs And Its Effects Essay
When patients have already faced the situation that they could not afford their prescription brand, they
would turn to other measures. One of those measures would be to use a different brand to substitute
the same drug to treat their condition. However, this drug may not be as effective as their previous
one. For example, Epipens are a very popular drug to treat individuals with severe allergies. If they
experience an allergic reaction, they would rely on an Epipen injection to offset it. While it is a very
popular and widely used allergy treating prescription, its substantial price increase over the years have
made it quite an expensive one. With being quite costly, patients may turn to finding an inexpensive
brand, anticipating that it would have an equivalent effect as their previous prescription. However,
according to Rubenfire from Modern Health Care, [f]or most drugs or devices, patients might look to
a competitor for a cheaper price. But Dr. Bobby Lanier, a Fort Worth, Texas based allergist, said most
of his patients end up using the name brand EpiPen rather than competitors such as Adrenaclick
(Rubenfire). Thus, this points out that alternative brands claiming to have equal effects as the name
brand may not be as efficient to treating the patient s condition. With its cheaper price and yet
ineffectiveness, it may lead patients to worsen their overall health due to the circumstances given by
the new drug. In other words, their health is at risk since they would have

Themes Of The Outsiders
Sammy Davis Jr. once said You always have two choices: your commitment versus your fears . This
means you can chose to be scared and back off, or commit to face your fears without worrying about
what the consequences or the result will be when you make this choice. This relates to the choices
made in The Outsiders, because Johnny faces his fears face on, not backing off and instead,
committing. He does this to save the ones who he most cares about the most. Correspondingly, the
theme of The Outsiders is that committing and making choices that you may not like, may have a
beneficial, long term effect on the people around you. To begin with, Johnny stabs Bob, the Soc, with
his switchblade because Bob was about to brutally beat Johnny up with his rings on his bare hands and
his hurtful words from his crude, deceptive mouth. Johnny also stabs Bob because Bob s gang was
trying to drown Ponyboy, so if he was able to stab Bob then his nasty and cruel gang would leave
Ponyboy alone. When Johnny stabs Bob, his plan ends up working and the other socs runaway
because they got frightened at the sight of Johnny stabbing and killing their what used to be alive
friend. I killed him, he said slowly. I killed that boy. (56) Johnny says this to Ponyboy as he awakens;
coughing up water from nearly being drowned by Bob s gang. When the socs runaway they go and try
to find police. Because of this, Johnny and Ponyboy now have to run away in order for them not to be
caught and punished by

Jonas In The Giver By Lois Lowry
Imagine, you are an ordinary member of your society, wanting to grow up like your parents and elders
of the community. Suddenly, you are given the highest position of your society, the Receiver, and soon
to be leader. How would you adjust? In the novel, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Jonas commences as a
naive member of the community, midway he is knowledgeable, in the conclusion he is a courageous
man. In the inception of the novel, Jonas is accustomed to the traditions of his family and all of the
families in his society. Jonas, his parents, and his sister, Lily, convey their dreams to one another each
morning. The sharing of community members dreams and additional customs are established by the
Council of Elders. In addition, the community leaders hold information and memories from the
members of the community: love, hate, war, and hunger. Thus, Jonas is a naive boy, who has no
knowledge on the community s history or its present state. The Council of Elders blind Jonas as well
as his fellow community members, by not informing people on release, senses, feelings, and colors. ...

This life lesson learned from childhood suddenly does not apply to Jonas. When given the job of the
Receiver, Jonas must learn to keep secrets and suffer pain that he was never exposed to. The new
workers, Jonas s old friends, of the community share their stories and lessons each day after training.
Contrary, Jonas has made the mandatory pledge to stay quiet and never tell a soul about the memories:
love, hate, war, and hunger. Therefore, Jonas is no longer a naive boy but a young man blooming with

The Tribe Of The Navajo Nation
The Group of people that will be described in my paper is the Navajos of the Navajo Nation, located
in the northeastern part of Arizona, and their religious beliefs. Another topic that will be discussed is
the ceremonies that are held among the Navajo tribe. The reason this topic interest me is due to my
wife and hearing stories about ways she was taught as a child. Also how much of an impact it has had
in her life due to family members taking part in these ceremonies. According to the history of the
Navajo Tribe, the Holy People lived in the underworld and helped by guiding the First Man and First
Woman to earth (McCoy 1988). The Holy People are said to be attracted to songs, dances, and chants
during the ceremony along with the creation of Sandpainting. The Sandpainting is used in the healing
process of the ceremony to draw a picture that tells a story of the Holy People. The Navajo culture
have amazed so many people to how beautifully constructed the rituals are performed. Although, the
ritual has been passed on from generation to generation, how the Navajo rituals are ways of
communication has been questioned by so many. Many believe that it way for the patient to come into
...harmony... with the universe (Klukhohn and Leighton 1974). The hypothesis for the question was
presented based on exploration of the culture done by researchers; concluding that, the Navajo rituals
are a way of communication to their ancestors/the Holy People, who are worshiped in return of good

children? Is it Ok to let the 2 year olds watch TV unsupervised? No says the American replacing baby

Hypothesis: Extensive viewing of television violence causes children to behave in aggressive or

Children model behavior they see in the media, she wrote in 1993. If kids don t see the consequences
of violence, it teaches them that violence doesn t cause serious harm. When heroes use violence it
sends a message that violence is an appropriate way to respond to problems.
Ever since TV has been introduced into the homes, parents, teacher and psychologists have been
wanting to know about the impact of TV on children. According to the report given by National
institute of mental Health in 1982, the following effects were identified in children on viewing
excessive violence in TV [1] http://www.apa.org/action/resources/research in action/protect.aspx
Children may become less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others.
Children may be more fearful of the world around them.
Children may be more likely to behave in aggressive or harmful ways toward others.

Example Of Code Switching
Based off the google dictionary, code switching refers to the practice of alternating between two or
more languages or varieties of language in conversation. The dictionary definition showcases how
people would talk using two or more languages or accents whenever they talk to others. If I were to
compare the two versions, my version is different from the dictionary definition, but the same concept.
I could see the term being used when we say different forms of our language to people in different
environments. It could occur when you would use slang when talking to your friends, but talk more
professionally when in the workplace talking to your boss. The same could go for when you are
talking to your elders in a more respectful tone than you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s like when my parents would ,accidentally at times, blend in their own native language when
talking english to me. My parents wanted me to learn their native language, so they both started
mixing in their language with english. They eventually stopped for reasons i have no clue on, but to
me, that seems like a good example of the dictionary definition. The exact time code switching was
used was when my parents started talking to me in english with some native language in their speech.
Another example comes from a youtube video called, Denice Frohman Accents . According to Denice
Frohman, her mother would blend in the english language with spanish words when talking to her. Her
mother s accent is the one that is making her speech sound hispanic even though she is using speaking
the english language with some spanish words mixed in. Near the end of her poem Denice Frohman
started code switching as well. She started spicing up her speech with spanish words like hermano ,
weba , and dale .She was demonstrating how her family reacts during a get together when she started
code switching. Using her mother as an example and using code switching at the end highlighted the
dictionary definition of the term. For my definition, however, I would summarize the definition in my
own words on how people use the term

Ella Enchanged and Cinderella
Contemporary young adult writers or filmmakers retells a classic story and develop ideas about how
and why current views of adolescents and what it takes to grow up might have changed over time.
Classic young adult literature questions certain topics like social, political, and the moral convections
and the way it impacts the way teens think about themselves. For example, two contemporary young
adult stories that have similarities and differences are Ella Enchanted and Cinderella that can impact a
teen s way of thinking mainly young girls but can influence boys as well. For instance, Cinderella is a
classic form of literature that develops ideas about adolescents. In Cinderella, she was the only
daughter of a wealthy man who had lost his wife. He remarries this women who was extremely cruel
and self interested; along with her two daughters. They all disliked Cinderella who was a very
kindhearted and beautiful and resembled her mother. Her stepmother and stepsisters ridiculed her and
treated her like an outcast of the family, as if she was taking up space. Cinderella devoted a lot of her
time cleaning and doing all the chores around the house. She was very obedient and her animal friends
would often question on why she wouldn t just stand up against her evil stepmother and stepsisters for
herself and take what is rightfully hers. However, Cinderella was a prisoner in her own life who was
forbidden from any form of outside activities. Ella Enchanted is a more moralized

Building Relationships With Customers Is A Key Marketing...
Building enduring relationships with customers is a key marketing objective for most firms
(Elbedweihy et al., 2016). Customers choose to identify with brands they perceive as attractive,
motivated by their self definitional needs fulfillment (Bhattacharya Sen, 2003). Identifying with a
company that has an attractive perceived identity may result in benefits to customers in terms of self
enhancement (Marin et al., 2009). Customers will feel the motivational impulse to attain a
psychological attachment to a brand when they perceive the brand as attractive and as partially
fulfilling one or more of their fundamental self definitional needs (Currás Pérez et al., 2009).
Customer experience is generated from customer value and is a customer s perception based on
interactions through either direct use or distance appreciation of products (Hansen Christensen, 2003).
Holbrook s (2002) stated that there are three values measuring user experience: usability, social value
and usage pleasure. Usability can be defined through efficiency, learnability, memorability, and
represents a broader construct integrating perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Social value
accrues to the user because of possessing a particular product. Finally, pleasure is referred to as soft
functionality of a product that represent hedonic value that defines emotional relationship of a user
with a product (Cited in Mishra, 2016). There are some concepts that are related to customer brand

In June 2009, the Chinese authorities announced a plan to implement a new piece of software called
Green Dam Youth Escort , under the premise that it would protect underage web users from accessing
pornographic content. However, experts stated that the software can also be used to block internet
sites for political reasons, including any information regarding Tibet or the Tiananmen Square
massacre of 1989. The Chinese authorities hope that by continuing to censor internet content, they will
be able to keep its people in the dark about the true face of the Chinese Government. China currently
employs 30,000 internet police to monitor and crack down on any dissent in people s e mails or on
websites, and said that it aimed to have all PCs built and used in China equipped with Green Dam
Youth Escort by 1 July 2009.
However, after widespread criticism of the plan, the Chinese Government reportedly backed down
over Green Dam s implementation, making the software optional. Opposition to the software was rife

My Favorite School Field Trip
Some people wouldn t think school could be fun. All that we do is learn. All field trips we go on are
just educational and boring. Well some might be, but many can be fun. You would never think
somewhere you ve always wanted to go to would be your next field trip. Somewhere really fun. I have
thought plenty of times in the past that I didn t want to go on the trip it was boring, but I was wrong
and this is why.
My first favorite school memory was in eighth grade. I was in chorus and we were going on a trip to
Massachusetts with the band for a competition. I was super excited and couldn t wait to sell all of my
tickets. When the day finally came I was so excited. We rode in a coach bus which was really cool
because I ve never been in one before. When we arrived in Massachusetts we headed over to where
we were having the competition. The competition was being held at a really big school. We performed
and sounded really good. I was super nervous I didn t want to mess up since I had never done that
before.
When we were finally done the competition we got our award handed to us and our tickets to get into
Six Flags. We left the school and head off on our journey to Agawam, Massachusetts where Six Flags
was located. As we got closer and closer there were flags on the side of the road leading us there and
my anticipation grew even stronger. I couldn t wait to get there.
Once we finally arrived everyone couldn t wait to get off the bus and have some fun. I was really
excited. We got off the bus and had a really long walk to get into the park. There were no close
parking spaces for the bus so we had to go all the way to the back parking lot and walk up to the
entrance. Once I walked into the park it was so much bigger than any I expected. All the roller
coasters were huge. I didn t get to go on any because everyone would ask me to hold their stuff but a
couple things I did go on were the bumper cars, a water slide, a boat ride and I played some mini
games. Those were fun enough for me but if I ever go back again I am going to try the roller coasters.
The water slide was really fun. All you had to do was go up a ramp inside a tube and the ramp would
push you down the slide while water was being splashed at

Types of ADRs/GDRs
ADRs can be classified into two broad categories: 1. Unsponsored ADRs/GDRs: In such DRs, the
company (RIL in our case) has got no agreement with the custodian or depository bank for the
issuance of DRs. These are traded on the over the counter (OTC) market and are issued according to
the market demand forces.
Unsponsored DRs can be issued by a no. of depository banks. Each depository services only the DRs
issued by it.
2. Sponsored DRs: These are the DRs which are sponsored by the company itself. In this case, the
foreign company itself wants to issue DRs and it does so by designating a depository bank that will
issue DRs in the foreign market on its behalf. It is of the following types:
a) Level 1 Sponsored DRs: These are the lowest level of sponsored DRs. These are traded only on the
OTC market. In case of ADRs, the company is supposed to adhere to minimal US Securities and
Exchange Commission (SEC) requirements and is not required to publish reports in accordance to US
GAAP standards.
b) Level 2 Sponsored DRs: In level 2 DRs, the DRs are listed on a recognized stock exchange and can
be traded thereafter. The stock exchanges in which these DRs are usually traded are New York Stock

A Comparison Of Malcolm X Vs. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Civil Rights movement in the 1960 s birthed the most prominent figures in the battle against
racism in the United States. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. are immortalized as the men who
stood up and spoke out during the most crucial time in US History for African American activism.
Though often brought up in the same vein, the two had complete opposite ideology about how to
reach equality. Their influence created many prominent groups in the 60s against mistreatment of
African Americans, including the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). According to
the name of this group, they were a nonviolent team of young black activists that stemmed from MLK
s Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). Apparent in their name, they shared the same
peaceful approach as MLK, but over time and as the hardships of the movement began to callous the
young group they shifted towards the by any means necessary approach of Malcolm X. Through the
excerpts in Takin it to the Streets, one can see the stark difference between Malcolm X s more
aggressive approach, MLK s loving approach, and the SNCC shifting its views over time but always
maintaining a steadfast commitment to the cause and a youthful bravado. Martin Luther King Jr. is a
household name. He became a martyr, known for exclusively preaching about love and dreams of
equality. MLK was impassioned and eloquent and palatable enough for white people. He never
wavered from the idea that the resolution to

The Negative Impacts Of Globalization
The Negative Impacts of Globalization
Across the world, globalization is one of the most significant aspects that has occurred over the last
fifty years. It allows a country to integrate economically with other countries through a global network
comprised of people, trade, and transportation. With the global landscape only becoming more
intertwined, globalization and its inherent pros and cons seem to be here to stay. In many areas, global
powers tend to lack in rectifying the negative aspects and only focus on the positive side. America, for
example, is a leader in the globalization efforts, even though it has greatly effected job opportunities at
home, widening income gaps, and an increased standard of living due to fluctuating world markets.
America has been involved in globalization since before its conception as colonist relied heavily on
trade. Osland states that even, during the 15th century, voyages were made by explorers who were
funded by the European monarchs to seek new trade routes (Osland 137). The colonist eventually
began trading with natives as they bartered for spices and treasures in exchange for anything that the
natives deemed of use. Eventually, trade companies were established to control the flow of more
products and it only expanded from there. After World War 2, world banks were created to help with
the post war clean up and the global markets began to gain power as trade became a priority for most
countries.
A major globalization agenda is to

  • 2. Symbolism In Apocalypse Now The movie Apocalypse Now by Francis Ford Coppola is an adaption of the book Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. A Green Beret or Special Forces Captain in the Army is tasked with hunting down and killing an ex Special Forces Colonel, Colonel Kurtz who is played by Marlon Brando, that turned rogue. The movie is set during the Middle of the Vietnam War. Captain Willard, played by Martin Sheen, is depicted as slightly insane and wavering between the lines of morality. In the beginning shot the song This is the End by The Doors is the score played while images of massive explosions are shown. At first, we see beautiful scenery of palm trees that are then destroyed by what appears to be napalm. This seemingly random shot depicts one of the main themes of the whole movie; the savage madness of war and the detrimental effect it has on the human psyche. We also see this when Willard is lying on his bed and his face is super imposed over a fan which closely resemble helicopter blades. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You also see a similar effect on Lance as they travel further down the river he camouflages his face, depicting his transition from sanity into madness. Later Lance is seen standing in the rain, which is symbolic of him cleansing his soul and washing away the madness war instilled in him. • 3. My Experience In My Life As time went by, it seemed to fly faster and faster. Soon, it was the summer between my sophomore and junior years and I had an abundance of plans for how to spend my summer. One event stood out compared to all of the others. It would greatly influence my life and shape my my thoughts to the way they are today. Reminiscing on the events of my past, my journey to the glamorous mountains of Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico to hike for a week is indisputably the greatest memory of my life so far. Our Boy Scout troop congregated at the Grimes South Sports Complex at way too early of a time on a Friday morning. Nobody felt tired, however, due to our excitement for the launch of our trek. We had been preparing for this adventure for over a year. Our moms took the pictures that are typical of moms, then we left in cars headed for Kansas City. I was fortunate to be placed in the vehicle that some of my closer friends were in and we had a blast on the car ride to KC. From there, we boarded a train which would take us to our destination of Cimarron, New Mexico, the closest form of civilization to Philmont. Travelling by train was a unique experience. The seats were extremely comfortable and could spin around. Each seat was situated by a large window that spanned from the ceiling to the floor allowing for a phenomenal view of the passing scenery. The food on the meal cart was scrumptious. It was essentially a much more pleasureable plane ride. After about twelve hours, we stumbled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Explain Why Is Nelson Mandela A Role Model Task 1 Why is Nelson Mandela a role model for so many people in the world? Nelson Mandela decided already as a young man to take part in the freedom struggle for his people as a lawyer. He was a black man who had political opinions and lived in a country with non coloured regime. You may see that he wasn t much liked by the apartheid regime. He was imprisoned for 27 years of his life but that couldn t break him. He only grew stronger. The regime fought the majority of South Africa with power, but Nelson Mandela fought with words. If that isn t a good role model, then who is? Who do you look to as a similar role model and why? I look to Martin Luther King as a similar role model. That is because he fought for anti segregation and equal rights ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many have big dreams about making big changes in the world. We want to help and we want to matter. Often these dreams don t go anywhere. They are too big, take long time and much energy. Often dreams stay just as dreams and maybe you even forget them too. You watch TV and suddenly some poor and hungry children that live somewhere in Africa appears and you think Oh I wish I could do something . Nowadays there are some things that we can do to help. We can donate money and we send old clothes that we don t use anymore. These small things for us are a huge difference for them. A normal meal for us may be the same for them as food for a whole month or so. Do what your heart says and follow your dream is a common saying. It s easier said than done is also a saying and in this case they fit well together. It s not always easy to follow your dream or what your heart says. But the dream you follow don t have to be the biggest and hardest one. Maybe you have a smaller and easier dream you can choose that also makes a change. Sometimes people think I have to do that not because they want to but because they feel that they have to. However, the use of learning journals in technology fields in higher education among non traditional students is lacking. From these statements the reviewer can determine that the review of literature is appropriate and critically analyzes published learning journals by the use of summaries and comparisons. The methodology section was explained in sufficient detail. It allowed its readers to address the research questions/problems. Langer (2002) uses two principle modes of inquiry, which are: review of learning journals submitted by students; and interviewing selected students who completed the course. The population was identified and selected by using three components in the process. The interview guide that was provided to two researchers, and not the interviewees, is an indication that the results would prove reliable. The results from the interviews allowed the researchers to further assess the significance and relative successes of the participant journals. The results and findings were clearly explained and examined all aspects of the study. Langer (2002) gives a clear table indicating the demographic variables of ten students who took part in the study. The nine interview questions offered a review of how the students responded toward the use of journals in the course. Some common themes emerged from the journal readings and interview question responses. The implications of the results and findings were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Presidential Election Of 1988 Pitted Vice President The election of 1988 pitted Vice President George H.W Bush against Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis. Coming off the back of President Reagan s second term, Vice President Bush needed to build on the sense of optimism that Reagan had instilled and make a case for continuity. Governor Dukakis on the other hand had to try and paint himself as good alternative to some of the pitfalls of President Reagan s later years. Coming off an economic collapse, insider trading scandals, and a growing drug problem, there was no shortage of material for ad agencies to work with. The ads from 1988 paint a picture of an overall negative race, even when compared to 2016 s charged election, while also producing some of the most infamous and effective ads in campaign history. Judging from the ads alone, 1988 would be seen as a negative campaign. While both candidates had positive ads, the most remembered from this election year are three negative ads put out on the Republican side. The fact that the three most memorable all came from one side speak to a difference in production quality as well. Based solely off the ads, the Republican party seemed to have the most unity of message as well as a coherent plan. Two of the three big ads have to do with Governor Dukakis s record on crime. The first, run only once by and developed by a PAC, talked about Willie Horton, a convicted murderer who was furloughed under the Massachusetts system. An hypothesis is the prediction that requires the process of being proved of being false or true (Bowles, 2013). A hypothesis must be clear and simple to understand that states the purpose of a test. It must contain logical and be testable. The hypothesis defines what data variable are considered for testing. The development of a hypothesis begins with identifying the object with an abstract concept of the research and relationship to a statement being evaluated (Bowles, 2013). There are four stages to testing a hypothesis in statics. The four stages are state the hypothesis, set criteria for a decision, collect the data, and evaluated the data. A hypothesis statement contains two parts a null hypothesis and and alternative hypothesis. The null hypothesis is represented as Ho or Hn that is believed to be true or a basis for an argument (Tayor, 2016). It always has a equal sign (Tanner Youssef Morgan, 2013). The alternative hypothesis is represented as Hi or Ha that is established as an opposite of the Ho. Ha can only be reached by the rejection of the Ho. Ha is the desired outcome. A example of a stated hypothesis is as followed: Ho: p = p, and Ha: p =/= p (Zhong Zhong, 2013). The criteria for accepting and rejecting the hypothesis depends on a specific calculated value set by the research. The criteria value has to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She expresses this through characterization and foreshadowing through the narrator s eyes. By contrasting the husband being a good husband and one who was nice with his family with him acting unusual by not wanting to talk about it and turning into the hateful one, Le Guin illustrates the husband acting secretive and not as open as he used to be with his wife. These stone flakes were more advanced than any tools previously used, and gave H. habilis the edge it needed to prosper in hostile environments previously too formidable for primates. This is a perfect example of the darkness that is embedded in the world. People s psyches are so concerned about the worst of possibilities that we seldom look at the positive ways in which we can improve our world for the better. The light that can offer some answers may be the consent of all nations to reach an agreement on every major international issue such as the battle over nuclear weapons. I find it hard to believe that in a world where we have so much potential to rid the ills of society with diplomacy, we often resolve to arms and violence. Dr. King was referring to the plight of African Americans (particularly in the South) when he said that hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Dr. King was in essence preaching to those that wanted integration, and civil rights that the only way you can achieve anything is with love. Dr. King knew that hate often results in violence, and using violence as a means to a gain at a time when our nation was engaged in a deadly war will not have been in the best interest of a nation that needed cohesiveness amongst all its citizens. For example, Epipens are a very popular drug to treat individuals with severe allergies. If they experience an allergic reaction, they would rely on an Epipen injection to offset it. While it is a very popular and widely used allergy treating prescription, its substantial price increase over the years have made it quite an expensive one. • 30. Building Relationships With Customers Is A Key Marketing... Building enduring relationships with customers is a key marketing objective for most firms (Elbedweihy et al., 2016). Customers choose to identify with brands they perceive as attractive, motivated by their self definitional needs fulfillment (Bhattacharya Sen, 2003). Identifying with a company that has an attractive perceived identity may result in benefits to customers in terms of self enhancement (Marin et al., 2009). Customers will feel the motivational impulse to attain a psychological attachment to a brand when they perceive the brand as attractive and as partially fulfilling one or more of their fundamental self definitional needs (Currás Pérez et al., 2009). Customer experience is generated from customer value and is a customer s perception based on interactions through either direct use or distance appreciation of products (Hansen Christensen, 2003). Holbrook s (2002) stated that there are three values measuring user experience: usability, social value and usage pleasure. Usability can be defined through efficiency, learnability, memorability, and represents a broader construct integrating perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Social value accrues to the user because of possessing a particular product. Finally, pleasure is referred to as soft functionality of a product that represent hedonic value that defines emotional relationship of a user with a product (Cited in Mishra, 2016). There are some concepts that are related to customer brand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In light of the restrictions imposed by the Chinese government of internet access, how do you think the media industry is affected? On google agreeing to ensure its search content, Reporters without borders commented, Google s statement about respecting online privacy are the height of hypocrisy in view of its strategy in China. In June 2009, the Chinese authorities announced a plan to implement a new piece of software called Green Dam Youth Escort , under the premise that it would protect underage web users from accessing pornographic content. However, experts stated that the software can also be used to block internet sites for political reasons, including any information regarding Tibet or the Tiananmen Square massacre of 1989. The Chinese authorities hope that by continuing to censor internet content, they will be able to keep its people in the dark about the true face of the Chinese Government. China currently employs 30,000 internet police to monitor and crack down on any dissent in people s e mails or on websites, and said that it aimed to have all PCs built and used in China equipped with Green Dam Youth Escort by 1 July 2009. However, after widespread criticism of the plan, the Chinese Government reportedly backed down over Green Dam s implementation, making the software optional. Opposition to the software was rife on the internet and public opinion in and outside China seems to have had an impact after the blacklist of keyword topics which Green Dam blocks was leaked on the internet. The list included references to Falun Gong and Tiananmen Square, despite government assurances that it was to be used to block pornographic material. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. My Favorite School Field Trip Some people wouldn t think school could be fun. All that we do is learn. All field trips we go on are just educational and boring. Well some might be, but many can be fun. You would never think somewhere you ve always wanted to go to would be your next field trip. Somewhere really fun. I have thought plenty of times in the past that I didn t want to go on the trip it was boring, but I was wrong and this is why. My first favorite school memory was in eighth grade. I was in chorus and we were going on a trip to Massachusetts with the band for a competition. I was super excited and couldn t wait to sell all of my tickets. When the day finally came I was so excited. We rode in a coach bus which was really cool because I ve never been in one before. When we arrived in Massachusetts we headed over to where we were having the competition. The competition was being held at a really big school. We performed and sounded really good. I was super nervous I didn t want to mess up since I had never done that before. When we were finally done the competition we got our award handed to us and our tickets to get into Six Flags. We left the school and head off on our journey to Agawam, Massachusetts where Six Flags was located. As we got closer and closer there were flags on the side of the road leading us there and my anticipation grew even stronger. I couldn t wait to get there. Once we finally arrived everyone couldn t wait to get off the bus and have some fun. I was really excited. We got off the bus and had a really long walk to get into the park. There were no close parking spaces for the bus so we had to go all the way to the back parking lot and walk up to the entrance. Once I walked into the park it was so much bigger than any I expected. All the roller coasters were huge. I didn t get to go on any because everyone would ask me to hold their stuff but a couple things I did go on were the bumper cars, a water slide, a boat ride and I played some mini games. Those were fun enough for me but if I ever go back again I am going to try the roller coasters. The water slide was really fun. All you had to do was go up a ramp inside a tube and the ramp would push you down the slide while water was being splashed at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. A Comparison Of Malcolm X Vs. Martin Luther King Jr. The Civil Rights movement in the 1960 s birthed the most prominent figures in the battle against racism in the United States. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. are immortalized as the men who stood up and spoke out during the most crucial time in US History for African American activism. Though often brought up in the same vein, the two had complete opposite ideology about how to reach equality. Their influence created many prominent groups in the 60s against mistreatment of African Americans, including the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). According to the name of this group, they were a nonviolent team of young black activists that stemmed from MLK s Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). Apparent in their name, they shared the same peaceful approach as MLK, but over time and as the hardships of the movement began to callous the young group they shifted towards the by any means necessary approach of Malcolm X. Through the excerpts in Takin it to the Streets, one can see the stark difference between Malcolm X s more aggressive approach, MLK s loving approach, and the SNCC shifting its views over time but always maintaining a steadfast commitment to the cause and a youthful bravado. Martin Luther King Jr. is a household name. He became a martyr, known for exclusively preaching about love and dreams of equality. MLK was impassioned and eloquent and palatable enough for white people. He never wavered from the idea that the resolution to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Negative Impacts Of Globalization The Negative Impacts of Globalization Across the world, globalization is one of the most significant aspects that has occurred over the last fifty years. It allows a country to integrate economically with other countries through a global network comprised of people, trade, and transportation. With the global landscape only becoming more intertwined, globalization and its inherent pros and cons seem to be here to stay. In many areas, global powers tend to lack in rectifying the negative aspects and only focus on the positive side. America, for example, is a leader in the globalization efforts, even though it has greatly effected job opportunities at home, widening income gaps, and an increased standard of living due to fluctuating world markets. America has been involved in globalization since before its conception as colonist relied heavily on trade. Osland states that even, during the 15th century, voyages were made by explorers who were funded by the European monarchs to seek new trade routes (Osland 137). The colonist eventually began trading with natives as they bartered for spices and treasures in exchange for anything that the natives deemed of use. Eventually, trade companies were established to control the flow of more products and it only expanded from there. After World War 2, world banks were created to help with the post war clean up and the global markets began to gain power as trade became a priority for most countries. A major globalization agenda is to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
