Bad Indians Analysis
There is an old African saying, when an elder dies, it is as if an entire library has burned to the ground.
This happens to be the case when it comes to my family history. Unfortunately, my grandparents on
both sides of my family have past away and the rest live across the world which can be difficult to
contact. My parent s are going to be my sources for this assignment. They both have provided me with
information about their childhood and the lives of my grandparent s. By using the stories provided
from Deborah A. Miranda s book Bad Indians, I will compare and contrast the lives of my family to
hers. Deborah A. Miranda s book Bad Indians, contains some historical facts and personal stories.

I can relate this to an organization called Ararat. Ararat is located throughout different cities within the
Unites States like Glendale, CA and countries like Armenia and Iran. This is where my grandparents
and most Armenian parents would place their children after school so they can maintain the Armenian
language and culture. During my parent s time there was not a school for just Armenians, they had to
mix with the Iranian children. The main problem in these schools were that, you were only allowed to
speak Farsi and were taught to read and write in Farsi. The way today s generation is raised has a

Pros Of Eugenics
As a trained nurse in the slums and tenements of New York I had been brought face to face with
conditions that made the so called sacredness of motherhood a term of unspeakable irony. Pregnant
women drunken husbands hungry children, children born to a heritage of disease, filth, crime this was
the order of that day. As one pregnancy followed another, a family sank deeper into the mire. And
always denied contraceptive knowledge by their doctors, these women were driven to other means. On
Saturday evenings, they lined up before the office of a cheap abortionist, each waiting her turn. You
would tell us nothing, they seemed to reproach me (I knew nothing to tell them), and here we are. All
too often wrecked health and death followed. Weighed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Birth control was seen as preventing events such as abortion and the cycle of poverty if used
responsibility. It gave power back to women. Conversely, the eugenics movement is tainted with the
distrust of women. A distrust that women would be unable to be responsible over their bodies and the
need for strict control over women through legislation such as forced sterilization. While eugenicists
may have supported birth control, they did not view it as an effective enough practice to prevent the
birth of unfit children into American society. Eugenics wanted a long term solution to the problem of
unfit children, not a short term

The word Bible comes from the Greek word biblia meaning books . The Greek word itself is taken
from Biblion, meaning paper, book or scroll and was a diminutive of the word Byblos or papyrus.

human authors; the writers wrote the Bible under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Ghost

MBA Goals
A.What are your top three learning goals for your MBA program experience? (Use the SMART
framework to express your goals. Goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and
timebound.)
The MBA program is a new field of study to me, as I have no experience in this filed. I may have
encountered some of the aspects of MBA through work, but I am not able to define any of it in a
professional way.
My first goal is to obtain a MBA degree with a high GPA, as I am willing to put all the effort and time
needed to achieve this goal, and earn the degree by the end of June, 2017.
My second goal is to build the skills (project management, marketing, production, finance,
organization behavior, being able to identify and evaluate a company s goals, and mission) that I need,

To be an effective contributor to the learning of my peers in the MBA program, I will share my
knowledge and my area of strengths with my peers, providing them with positive and negative
feedback, as it is very important, and critical to improve ourselves.
I will also be active and interact with my peers throughout discussions, as another way to contribute
towards their learning, for we all have different areas of expertise and backgrounds.
Researching the information, and read multiple sources before sharing any information with my peers,
will contribute to their learning as well.

The City Of A Small Town Is Better Than Living At A Big...
Last August, I took a trip with the youth group from my church to Washington, D.C. to visit the
church there in our congregation. While I was there for seven days, I found many things there that
were much better in the large city, and other things very odd. Going out in the city and finding out
these things were very interesting to me since I live in a small town Kalona, Iowa, with a population
around three thousand people. After experiencing both, I can definitely say that both have their
benefits and disadvantages. Personally, I still feel that living in a small town is better than living in a
big city. In the big city, there are many things that are different, but the most obvious one is the sights.
There is lots of tall buildings and streets connecting everywhere. Millions of people walking in every
which way to do their own agendas. One thing that is evident while sight seeing is the amount of
pollution. Trash and litter surrounded you almost everywhere you went, including the streets, curbs,
water, grass, sidewalks, and even some buildings. As we walked around the monuments, one could see
trash and pollution in the ponds surrounding our nation s famous monuments. It was surprising to me
more people didn t want to keep them looking nice. Similarly, the small town of Kalona does have
litter, but not nearly as much as the city. However, the city has much more people than a small town,
so this is logical of the amount of pollution.
In addition to the realization of the

Nursing Shortage Essay
Have you ever thought about the role a nurse has between his or her client? A nurse s role is more than
just helping clients when they are not feeling well. In 2007 there were a reportedly 12 million nurse s
employed (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2009). That is a large amount of nurse s that are employed in
the world. A nurse protects, promotes, optimizes health and ability, prevents illness or injury, alleviates
suffering through treatment and diagnosis of human response, and advocates in the care of individuals,

Some believe it is because of retirement. The Toronto Star reported in 2001 that 14,000 of their 81,000
nurses were due to retire by 2004 (Honor Society of Nursing, 2001). The huge shortage of nurses has
had an impact on patient care (Rosseter, 2011). They would need more graduating nurses to fill those
open positions. There are several hospitals, long term care facilities, and home health agencies with
multiple jobs open due to the shortage of nurses (Honor Society of Nursing, 2001). Experts also
believe that nurses are enrolling into school at an older age averaging at 31 year age opposed to 18
years of age (Honor Society of Nursing, 2001). Some jobs are even offering a sign on bonus so they
can fill these open positions. To new graduating nurse s this can be a good incentive since the medical
field is competitive. Rachel Gotbaum did an interview on nursing shortage in 2007. There were
multiple interviews with health care professionals through her interviews she found that In the next
decade 80 million people will retire. She has stated that since health care changes constantly that
nurses need to continue their education no matter how old or how many years they have been in the
medical field. When medicine is involved you should always be up to date on the latest technology
and diagnosis. Nurses may become suddenly ill or injured were they are no longer able to give care

Arcadia Analysis
Introduction
Arcadia is an ancient play by Tom Stoppard regarding a distinct relationship between order and
disorder, past and present, certainty and uncertainty. This play has in the past been praised by critics as
the finest play with significant contemporary playwrights with regards to English language. Tom
Stoppard has also been recognized as the greatest living playwright in English language theater with
timely jumping masterpieces. His elegance allows his forging towards a unique comedy of romance,
sex, wit, scientific theory and poetry, and further introduces active characters whose passion for life
has been noted to intersect across may other centuries. The play is directed by Artistic Director by
name Michael Halberstam. Moreover, Arcadia has for a long time served as an ideal pioneer
production at a performance located in the Writers Theatre s new home, specifically the UT Center for
Performing Arts Centre theatre on 11th of March back in 2017, at 7:30 PM.
There are three main themes depicted in the Arcadia play, among them; Emotion versus Intellect.
Arcadia outlines two sorts of knowledge, the academic knowledge and the sex based knowledge,
which have been displayed as in constant conflict in the entire text. The intellectual sex justification
and marriage proposition have been termed as the main factors that create resolution between the
existing forces. The initial pages of the play put focus on the theme of love verses intellect. Thomasina

Bell Jar Disconnection
It is said that people cannot truly know themselves, but must rely on reflections in mirrors,
photographs, and other people in their lives. Unable to see themselves as others see them, people often
get confused and end up detaching themselves from reality. Author Sylvia Plath was a bright, young
woman with an interest in poetry and writing. However, after the death of her father, she developed
neurosis and attempted suicide for the first time using sleeping pills, but was unsuccessful. She uses
her depression and suicidal tendencies as a foundation for her novel, published two weeks before her
successful suicide. The Bell Jar highlights the concept of detachment through the main character,
Esther, who feels a disconnection from herself. As she struggles to recognize herself and find a path
for her future, she slowly descends into madness. Sylvia Plath in The Bell Jar creates the motifs of
mirrors and magazines to convey the idea that individuals often have difficulty accepting themselves.
Quite often, magazines glamorize real life and make reality distant from fact. This is especially true
throughout The Bell Jar, starting as early as page 2 where the main character explains a ... Show more

appalled to see how wrinkled and used up I looked (Plath 18). Esther doesn t immediately recognize
herself in an elevator reflection, which startles her and causes her to believe she is not alone in the
elevator. Later in the novel, after her signs of depression have began to emerge, she starts to cry during
a magazine photoshoot. Once she stops crying and attempts to apply makeup to her fatigued

The Crisis Of The United States Of America
During the mid 2000s, the global economy was impacted by one of the biggest financial catastrophes:
the subprime mortgage crisis. The housing market in the United States of America was on the decline
and it indirectly affected Canada. This case study will provide an overview of what happened before,
during and after the crisis in order to obtain an understanding of what could be applied to predict a
better future for North America as a whole and Canada individually. This case study also provides an
opportunity to appreciate the strong Canadian banking system and its goals to improve the overall
growth of the economy.

Canadian banks were less involved in subprime lending activities due to the rules and regulations
Canada falls under which would consequently result in less of an impact. Regardless of the origin of
the crisis, changes in the U.S. economy result in an impact on Canada. Through an economic
perspective, there are many models that would analyze and identify current and potential threats that
could shield Canada. The data includes information prior and after the crisis.
Financial Innovations:
From the data discovered based on the increase of technology, it provided an understanding of the
traditional process of being granted or providing loans and mortgages. Banks traditionally grant loans
to individuals or businesses that meet specific credit requirements and would receive periodic
payments. This process continues until the loan is fully paid off. Due to the increase in technology,
banks were able to lower their costs for transactions by securitizing loans electronically. This
innovation allowed them to bundle up all small loans into a standard debt security, which then could
be bought and sold in the financial market. This led to a structured credit product offering that
generated large cash flows from a collection of underlying assets with certain risk management.
Investors had the opportunity to pick and choose what they wanted to purchase depending on their

How To Invade Iraq
Support To invade Iraq Hindsight makes everyone geniuses. With hindsight, more people would have
bought shares in Microsoft when it first came out. Ditto for Amazon, Facebook, something called
Berkshire Hathaway, and shares in, what was then, a small retailer based in Arkansas Walmart. We do
not have hindsight. We can not guarantee success in everything we do. If the Iraq War only lasted 100
days, we would not have argued about whether there were weapons of mass destruction. It did not, on
both counts. It lasted 3,195 days from March 20, 2003 till December 18, 2011.
If we look back on the events surrounding the war, we can understand how it happened. Surprisingly,
however, when we understood how, it was easier to understand and support the why. In March 2003,
the United States initiated a preemptive war on Iraq. Iraq had nuclear capability termed weapons of
mass destruction . Iraq had previously used chemical weapons on Iran and on its own people. Iraq

Temperature Of Alka Seltzer
Alka Seltzer being affected by different temperatures in different cups
Research Question How does the temperature affect the speed in which an Alka Seltzer tablet fully
dissolves in three cups filled with water with different temperatures.
Background Information A chemical reaction is a process that involves change of the molecular or
ionic structure of a substance, as opposed to a change in physical form or a nuclear reaction. The key
concepts of a chemical reaction are:
The atoms and molecules that interact with each other are called reactants
The molecules and atoms produced in a chemical reaction are called products
No atoms are destroyed or created they only end up in other products
Reactants collide with each other so new bonds between atoms in the reactants are broken, and atoms
rearrange and form new bonds to make new products ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A larger concentration of products is usually linked to a lower reaction rate.
Usually an increase in temperature in a chemical reaction means that there will be an increase in the
reaction rate of the reactants. Temperature is a measure of the kinetic energy of a system. If
temperature is the measure of the kinetic energy of a system, higher temperature implies a higher
average kinetic energy of molecules and more collisions per time. This would happen because when
the temperature is increased and the reactants will start moving faster and will collide more than
before with other reactants and will start forming products.
This image explains that the higher the temperature, the concentration, and the pressure the faster the
rate of the reaction is.

Machiavellian Prince
Cunning. In politics, there will always be someone more powerful than the prince and there will be
times when brute force will not suffice in enabling them. In such situations, the capable prince must be
capable of outsmarting the opposition, if they wish to remain relevant.
Decisive. The worst thing a Machiavellian prince can do is nothing at all. Neutrality only breeds
animosity from both sides of the conflicts. The competent prince must, when tasked with choosing a
side, declare their allegiance overtly and without doubt. Choosing neutrality, from the perspective of
the opposing parties, serves the same as declaring oneself opposed to all; the winning party has no

A prince must be educated in all the matters that concerns them and their governance, if not they will
either prove themself incompetent and therefore unfit to rule, or they will find themself subservient to

Sensational. Sensationalism is a surefire way to captivate the hearts of minds of a prince s subjects.
Everything thing that they do; military campaigns, rewards, punishments, executions; should be grand
and unusual. It will dazzle the citizens, occupy the nobles, and secure fame for the prince across their

Cautious. When an opportunity presents itself, a prince should not blindly take it without assessing the
possible risks and ramifications of their actions.
Self Assured. Once a prince takes a particular course of action, they must commit to it wholeheartedly.
There must be no room for doubt, otherwise their enemies will capitalize on their insecurity and their
subjects will doubt their ruler s righteousness.
Daring. The effective prince must be willing to take some risky paths in their career. Overly cautious

Salinger would meet his first wife Sylvia, a German and possible former Nazi, yet they would divorce

connection between the two is that they both despise the movies. Salinger despises the movie s

Disadvantages Of Drinking Water Bottles
Littering is another problem with these bottles. When people get done using them they just throw them
on the ground, for example, if you go to a ball game and you see everyone drinking Gatorade, soda, or
water and then stay after and you will see all those bottles in the bleachers and on the field from the
players. You start to realize that know one really cares about the environment anyone. Water bottles or
just bottles in general are a big cause on the environment. Although many people do not care, littering
causes a lot of harm to the environment and not many people realize it. Even though drinking bottle
water is widely known as a good choice for your health it comes with great conflicts. Many schools all
around sell bottles of water out of vending machines, although this can be a bad thing for the
environment, but it also helps students from drinking sugary soda. Even though there are benefits to
drinking and using bottled water, there are also many drawbacks. Bottled water can be healthy, but
also just drinking from a water fountain can help yourself and the environment. Not many people want
to drink community fountains because of the germs and all the people that use them. Even though
water is a great need for humans, they normally want to go the easy way; the bottled water way. Water
fountains do have many causes of them, germs that it collects, and some even lack filtration systems.
Bottled water and other plastics can have many effects, although people have

The Gross Domestic Product Has Not Changed A Lot Of People
The gross domestic product has not changed a lot of people in society. The gross domestic product did

Globalization is also involved in East Asia and Latin America. According to Bakker, in the paper, she

where income is low. Some of these people live in Africa, Iraq, Iran, etc. Some people did not want

Comparing Perrault And The Grimm Brothers
When it comes to picking authors, who interest me in the field of fairytales I would have to choose
Perrault and the Grimm brothers. Even though one is from the 17th century and the other two are from
the 19th century, they go about telling stories a little differently while also having some similarities in
the tales they tell. Both have morals for each tale. Some are weaker than others while others are also
stronger than others as well. The fairy tale I would be writing about would be little red riding hood.
The little red riding hood that I remember reading about when I was little was saved by a woodsman.
However, coming into this class and reading the original, I found it interested that both tales ended
differently.

In the 17th century the protestant era did not exist. During the 17th century it was noticed that a child s
youth was becoming more of a distinguished stage in life that was considered a critical base of the
development of character (Zipes, 36). While Perrault was writing, he had to focus and come up with a
way to teach adults and kids the same morals. In Perrault s tales, he clearly states the characteristics a
woman needs are to be beautiful, polite, graceful, industrious, and properly groomed while also
knowing how to control herself always (Zipes, 40). So basically, just waiting for the right man to
come in and save the day, which was fine for back in the 17th century but in today s time, no women
wants to wait for somebody to pretend to save the day. In most of the fairy tales the

The Long Road Of Recovery For A Lawyer
The first step in the long road to recovery for a lawyer is to first confide in others their plight, thus
nourishing a sense of group synergy that can carry them out of an alcoholic abyss. This group synergy
comes in the form of a Lawyer Assistance Program (LAP). With its main tagline being, Created by
lawyers for lawyers, a LAP functions as both a confidential hotline and a support group. There, trained
experts offer heartfelt counseling to lawyers losing a case against alcoholism, addiction, depression,
stress, and other mental health issues. Operating on a 24 hour hotline, the LAP is the perfect third
party between the lawyer and the liquor bottle. It should also be the premier answer to lawyers battling
a potential death sentence by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If not a fellow colleague, then a personal friend or family member will make an excellent surrogate for
communication. When alcoholism and other stress related disorders has a lawyer under heavy scrutiny
from his or her own personal jury, an LAP and other forms of group synergy is the perfect trump card
to battle back and prove that great strength comes not from their own determination, but through the
support of their friends and family. Substance abuse is just one of the many problems that lawyers face
every day when it comes to clients, colleagues, and courtroom dramas. However, it is by far the direst,
and in desperate need of attention. Having this competitive mentality when it comes to the legal
profession provides a toxic environment for both the lawyer and the client. The primary difference
between the push for more LAPs and the court mandated hearings is quite simple: action over
inaction. The court hearings exemplify the age old adage to do as they say, not as they do. The other
gives the lawyer the power to ask for help, and that help shall be given. Telling a lawyer the path to
overcoming their personal demons is not the same as showing them the people whose personal and
work lives were devastated in their wake of self destruction. A lawyer cannot simply get over it,
without understanding how to get over it. That can only be accomplished when the attorney reaches

David Mcletein Theory Of Needs Theory
This theory of needs was popularized by David McClelland. He is a behavioural psychologist in
American. According to McClelland, the motivators in the theory are learned. That why this theory

1928, David McClelland (1961) was make an experiment that the motivation of an individual might

These three needs will occur when someone is acting according with their desire and behaviour.
Firstly, people in the group of the Need for Achievement (N Ach), they likely desire to accomplish
something difficult and do some challenging tasks on a high level. This achievement oriented people

Historical Background of The Color Purple, I know why the caged bird sings, and The Awakening
In a stereotypical society, the reader expects for the protagonist of a novel to be a strong, heroic male
who saves the day and gets the girl. However, in the classic works The Awakening (Kate Chopin), The
Color Purple (Alice Walker), and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (Maya Angelou), a different kind
of protagonist is portrayed. In these novels, the protagonist is a heroine who grows throughout the
novel into a strong and independent woman. The heroines all seek to overcome a series of obstacles in
the search for her identity. Even though the female characters have different individual quests, they all

Bertha Flowers, helps promote the shy Maya s individuality. It is a similar case in The Awakening , in
which another woman, Mademoiselle Reisz, is responsible for the search for independence in Edna
Pontellier. Edna sees how Mademoiselle Reisz lives her life for her passion, music, and Edna starts to
follow her footsteps. Celie from The Color Purple has female figures that help her realize her
potential, as well. A blues singer by the name of Shug Avery helps Celie grow into her independence.
Female relationships in all of the novels provide a sanctuary for women from overbearing male
figures. In The Color Purple and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings , the quest for individuality and
confidence ends happily. Celie becomes independent emotionally and financially, and Maya gets over
her idea that she is ugly and becomes confident and starts a family. Edna also grows independent, but
this freedom leads to her solitude after she leaves her family to seek a new relationship with another
man, who in turn leaves her. The males in each novel tend to be dominant over women, expect
obedience, and sometimes abusive. In The Awakening both main male characters, Léonce Pontellier
and Robert Lebrun know that women are subservient to men. Léonce, Edna s husband, always does
what society demands, and he shows his idea that Edna is his property

Bruce And Johnston Retirement Case Summary
Bruce and Faith Johnston are 64 and 58 respectively and plan to retire within the next 2 years. They
have a combined net worth of $456,990 and if they accomplish their goals of paying off their
outstanding debt and their mortgage, their net worth will increase. Their current monthly income sums
to $5,666 and their total monthly expenses totals to around $4,500 with $1,000 of it as expenses for
subsidizing living expenses for their two children as a result of a late parenthood . With the idea of
retiring within the next two years, their main source of income following retirement is the $235,000 in
Bruce s company profit sharing plan, and the potential inheritance of $150,000 from Faith s father.
Their monthly household expenses include $850 for their mortgage, which has nine years of payments
remaining, $400 for property taxes, $300 for utilities, $250 for insurance, and $278 for their new car
that still has 48 payments left. With their monthly income totaling $5,666, that leaves only $1,166 a
month for various expenses that might pop up and for further investments into Bruce s profit sharing

Tragedy Is Our Unity in Walt Whitman´s Death of Abraham...
Walt Whitman s essay, Death of Abraham Lincoln, explains what Lincoln brought to our nation
through his life and what he left behind through his death. Whitman observes Lincoln from afar,
noticing the reactions a crowd has to his presence. He expresses the importance of first impressions
through the awkward silence of the streets and crowds when Lincoln walks out of his unprepossessing
carriage on his way to the Astor House prior to his inauguration. Lincoln s presence took over the
moment unlike any figure had before. On the day of April 14, 1865, Whitman recalls his sight of
beautiful lilacs at the time of the harrowing event and how this alluring flower became a symbol for
him. The lilacs represented the great tragedy on that spring day with their sight or even just with the
presence of their soft scent. Whitman was extremely inspired by both the life and death of Abraham
Lincoln. Still to this day, Lincoln is known as one of the greatest Presidents to exist in our country and
Whitman portrays him as more important than any other heroic figure in our past. In comparison,
President Warren G. Harding is known as one of the worst presidents who corrupted our nation.
Unlike Lincoln, who is responsible for the emancipation of three million slaves and known as the
savior of our union, President Harding was involved in scandals across the nation and is known for his
shady presidency. Although Lincoln s death brought hardship and grief to our country, Harding s death

There s a difference between equal opportunity and affirmative action policies. Equal employment
opportunity (EEO) means freedom from discrimination on the basis of protected classes such as race,

A body of scientific research over the past 50 years shows that people notice race, as well as gender,
wealth, and even weight. Should racial identities matter? I don t think so. We should see the person for
who they are and not what color of skin they have. I like the say don t judge a book by its cover
because I believe that you should get to know a person before you make any sort of judgment or
evaluations of them.
There is something called the power of racial bias, which is often concealed. Some think that calling it
a racial bias lessens the blow of being called a racist. People claiming bias can admit they may have
acted in racially insensitive ways but were unaware of their subconscious motivations. Someone can
think racist thoughts, but never actually behave in a racist manner. Most people don t self identify as a
racist because they don t take any action upon it. People think that just because they don t act upon it,
that they shouldn t be considered racist; however, thoughts and views can be a small form of racism.
For example, if you saw a large black man at night would you be a little scared? What about if that
man were white? Would you flinch a little in both scenarios? If you flinched for one and not the other,
based on his race, it s still considered racist. So, no, I don t think a person has to see herself or himself

A Health Care Power of Attorney should not be confused with a living will, even though both are
considered Advance Health Care Directives . This is because instructions are given on what shall
happen in the event that the person becomes unable to make future health care decisions on his/her
own. A Living Will only allows the person to express his/her wishes concerning life sustaining
procedures. Health Care Power of Attorney becomes effective only when one does not have the
capacity to give or withdraw informed consent regarding one s health care. General, special or health
care power of attorney that contains special durability provisions is a durable power of attorney. For
example, if a person becomes mentally incompetent while already having a valid power of attorney
document, a durability provision will allow this document to stay in effect. Such a document can be
signed to prepare for the possibility of a client becoming mentally incompetent due to illness or an
accident. In this scenario, the power of attorney would not go into effect unless a doctor certifies that
the person is mentally incapacitated. It is important to select someone of trust to be an agent. The
durable power of attorney ends upon the death of the principal. In some states, if a spouse is the
attorney in fact, a divorce will automatically terminate the durable power of attorney. In most cases,

Sourd Vs Cullinan
While Hollywood seems adamant to push the pace of its films to the absolute extreme, it is refreshing
to be able to sit and patiently enjoy a film that rejects this silly philosophy. With Sofia Coppola s latest
film, which earned her the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival becoming only the second
woman to do so in the process, one enters an almost entire different era of filmmaking that, though
superior in many ways, has become antiquated for many viewers. Now this is not the first film
adaptation of The Beguiled novel, written by Thomas Cullinan; the novel was adapted in 1971 with
Clint Eastwood in the starring role, but Sofia Coppola decided to give her own spin at the novel and

Compare And Contrast Frankenstein Vs The Modern Prometheus
The publicity of the 1994 film version of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein says that this version of the
familiar Frankenstein story is truthful to the novel. That s pretty close to believable, although there are
some new twists. Since the novel, written by a woman, wasn t just a simple monster story, but also a

considered worthwhile to look on that count, not to mention the Godly mad scientist view, which is

Dear Mom and Dad: The war that has taken my life, and many thousands of others before me, is

Tim O Brien, a Vietnam war vet, had similar experiences as the soldier above. Even though O Brien

how. Tonight it will be on my mind again... I sit in my underwear at this unblinking fool of a computer

Calley and Charlie Company, we find out that the truth was worse than the stories. From the facts
from the trial, we learn that there were anywhere from 343 504 fatalities and. that [t]he crimes visited
on the inhabitants of Son My Village included individual and group acts of murder, rape, sodomy,
maiming, assault on noncombatants and the mistreatment and killing of detainees, ( Col. Wilson as qtd
in Vietnam 562). You might think that what happened in My Lai was the worst of it all, but O Brien
says that, Wreckage was the rule. Brutality was S.O.P. (566). Because the war was so confusing and
because the soldiers couldn t tell who the enemy was, many felt that, the army had no solution but to
kill people, uniformed or not, old or young, male or female, proven Viet Cong or not, (Fussell 654). To
me this is how some tried to justify killing but still some just couldn t make themselves feel as if they
were justified.
The result of this guilt for the soldiers, psychologically, is that some of them seemed to go insane. For
instance, at the trial, one of the soldiers of Charlie Company, Paul Meadlo said this about why he
killed; he thought that the babies and children might attack: [t]hey might have had a fully loaded
grenade on them. The mothers might have throwed them at us (Vietnam 563). For some soldiers, their
reaction was more like this:
I just went. My mind just went. And I wasn t the only one that did it. A lot of

The Pearson Product Moment Correlation
The Pearson product moment correlation is the most frequently utilized measure of relationships
(Salkind, 2012). The symbol for this relationship is the letter r which represents the variables being
correlated. Furthermore, the symbol rxy characterizes a correlation between two variables,X and Y.
When computing a correlation, one requires a pair of scores, for example, reading scores and math
scores for each group the researcher is working with. In the case of computing the correlation between
the hours a group studies and test scores, one should measure the number of hours spent and the
results of test for each individual. A good way to represent the findings is the use of scattergram, also
known as scatter plot. Scattergrams provide a visual depiction of the correlation coefficient of the
relationship between two variables, X and Y. They are very beneficial for researchers to determine
correlation coefficients. Essentially, a correlation is a measure of how two different variables relate to
one another, how they co relate. A scattergram shows that co relation on a diagram. The scattergram is
like a graph or a bar chart, having a x and y at right angles to one another. In this case, the x axis
represents one variable, while the y axis represents the second variable. The points on the scattergram
are obtained by taking related measurements of the two variables. They might be related by being
taken at the same time, or by coming from the same research participant,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Carbohydrates
Do you know that foods high in fat and calories can leave you feeling fatigued, since they require
more energy to digest? To stay alert all day, start by making smarter choices about what you are using
to fuel your body. I have written the 12 power foods that will give a powerful boost to your daily diet.
Carbohydrates: Carbs have gotten a bad reputation in recent years, but before you swear off bread for
life, it is important to note that not all carbohydrates are created equal. Carbohydrates offer fuel to the
body in the form of glucose, which is the best energy source for the brain and central nervous system
two vital body systems. A diet rich in whole grains and complex carbohydrates is necessary for
energy; find these in fruits and vegetables such as sweet potatoes and foods made with whole wheat.

equivalent of an energy drink. Low on the glycemic index, this natural sweetener acts as a time
released muscle fuel during exercise and helps replenish muscles post workout. Add a sweet drizzle to
anything from breakfast yogurt to afternoon tea. Fruits Fruit offers a significant dose of glucose,

this innocence later in life because of the experiences they acquire from the surroundings. Novel
Northern Lights consists of three parts in which the first part expresses the romantic idea related to
child innocence in contrast of Christian theological concepts regarding original sin. The second

The United Arab Emirates is one of the most important tourist destinations in the region. The Arab
spring had a very minor effect on the country s tourism as it did not have a revolution but tourists in
countries such as the Americas and Eastern Asia and some European countries were still slightly
worried to visit any Arab country as it could be hit by the domino effect of the Arab Spring. UAE is
not a neighboring country of any of the countries that had revolutions but it is in the same region.
Tourism in Egypt
Egypt is known to be the number one tourist destination in the Middle East and North Africa. It has
been for years and obviously this is because of its ancient Pharos history, and pyramids in Giza and
other historical sites and Luxor and all over the country has attracted tourists from around the world
and for many years to visit these attractions that were built around 7000 years ago. Egypt s tourism
now is not just about cultural about heritage but it also has sun, sea and sand tourism on its beautiful
beaches on both seas, the Mediterranean and the red sea. Egypt s tourism is also very popular with its
Nile cruises from Alexandria to the Upper Egypt of Luxur and Aswan via the capital Cairo.

Rape As A Weapon Of War In The Eastern Drc Analysis
In Rape as Weapon of War in the Eastern DRC? The Victim s Perspective by Anna Maedl, It begins to
describe the problems around the community and how some respond with rape to help it stop. Rape as
a Weapon used against people? For me it doesn t matter if you deserve to suffer, rape isn t something
to be played with or become an answer to a problem. Indiscriminate violence against civilians,
including mass rape and sexual torture, are not an exception in so called new wars 18 or complex
political emergencies, 19 but are the modus operandi by which these armed conflicts are fought. (Rape
131) Modus Operandi? Which means a new way of doing things, but why rape? During the wars they
believed as something normal one could do to another country s women, yet after the massive rapes
happening many women were destroyed emotionally. Not only did they chances to marry pure has
disappeared, but also they are unable to even look at their love one like they did normally. When a
person rapes another person, I think of them as animal that shouldn t be considered human. Why don t
they think, what happens if someone was raping one of my family member? How would they feel?
And what would I do? they don t think about the consequences of the victim and of the child they may
posses in the near future. However, even though the research that was conducted knew there were
massive of rapes, they were able to conclude a concise number because of the numerous women who
didn t want to be interviewed of the situation that happened to them. What makes me angered is most
of the victims were unable to fight back for their freedom because about 90.9% of the attackers were
carrying weapons like pistols, spears and Machetes/knifes (Rape 140). Though I was unable to get a
clear picture on which side Anna was trying to argue with, I have a clear statement on how the victims
felt and the massive rape that was happening during the wars like World War II.

Swot Analysis Of By Garth George
Extraversion
Herald columnist, Garth George was impressed when he met John Key, he said that Key is sociable,
charming, good natured, and humorous. He is open faced and talkative both in private and in public.
Advisers would say he is talkative to interviews with reporters because he usually answers as many
questions as they want to ask, no matter how repetitive (Roughan 2014, p. 182). Being a prime
minister for 8 years, he has done amazingly awkward moments as a leader. In December 2012, he
performed the Gangnam Style dance at the Edge radio station, explaining his unique moves, he said,

It should also be noted that in his speech, his main reason for stepping down from the position is his
family, citing his wife has endured for a decade of a lot of long, lonely nights and his children have

3.3 Conscientiousness
Being a prime minister has been John Key s ambition and losing his father at age 7 could have been
difficult financially. However, he was able to finish a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting and
became a successful currency trader, before moving to Singapore, London, New York and back to
New Zealand where he decided to pursue his political aspiration. Highly ambitious at a very young
age, persistent in obtaining an important degree, hardworking to secure detailed goal and a very
obvious energetic person unmistakable mark for high score in conscientiousness. Key has been in
Parliament for 14 years, 10 years as National Leader and eight of those years as prime minister. Some
of the main events of his post are the global financial crisis, he was credited with bringing the country
out of recession through the tax cutting program and free trade deals; he was praised in handling the
devastating Christchurch quakes promising the city would not be forgotten and that it would rise
again; the Pike River incident and the Rena Disaster to name a few (BBC News 2016). In a tribute

The meaning of the Guatemala crest the Coat of Arms shows two Bay Laurel branches symbolizing
victory. The scroll contains the date that all of Central America was declared independent from Spain.

Overall i have learned through my research that Guatemala is a very peaceful country. These features

History of the U.S. Health Care Delivery System
Over the course of our countries history, the delivery of our health care system has tried to meet the

our goals of providing quality, affordable and accessible healthcare to our citizens. The history of our
delivery system will show we continuously changed the delivery of our system however never mange

Prior to this shift, government involvement in health insurance services was minimal since it seemed
to be under control by the non profit sector. There didn t seem to be an urgent need to control or
universalize health care at the time. The government s first interest in the health care industry sparked
when employers began providing health care benefits as a competitive advantage for recruiting
workers back into the workforce during World War II. To help cope with the rising unemployment
rates, the government would offer tax incentives to employers providing these benefits. (add Quote)
By the 1960s, the formation of unions help to standardized employer health benefits and the access to
insurance was prevalent for workers. This system seemed to be well established as the employers,
private health insurance carries, physicians and hospitals would recycle health cost amongst each
other. However, there were many underlying problems with this tightly organized system. Self
employed individuals, small companies, the poor, and the unemployed had no organized access to
health insurance. Also, at this time the majority of elderly retirees lost their health insurance in old age
when they needed it most. These underserved populations began to seek care in emergency facilities
driving the cost of urgent care back on the hospital and

Pyrenean Ibex Research Paper
Pyrenean Ibex were wild goats that lived in the mountainous regions of Europe, north central Asia,
and northern Africa. According to the Integrated Taxonomic Information System, there are five
species of Ibex (Bradford, 2014). These species were one of the two subspecies of Spanish Ibex that
went extinct. The scientific name of Pyrenean Ibex is Capra pyrenaica pyrenaica. Male and Female
Ibex could be distinguished due to fur color and horn differences. Males were greyish brown with
black spots on the forelegs in summer and they were dull grey with faded spots in winter. On the other
hand, female ibex had brown fur color. The Pyrenean Ibex had fur that grew longer and thicker in
colder winter months. During the summer, it was shorter and less thick. The males had large, thick ...

They lived on rocky mountainsides and cliffs. Their habitats were also known as Boreal Biomes. The
Pyrenean Ibex were herbivores. They only ate vegetation such as shrubs, bushes, and grasses. This is
the reason for its habitat being in the mountains because there was plenty of vegetation there. Ibex
made their homes on cliffs that would be dangerous for predators. The Pyrenean Ibex was most
commonly eaten by Wolves, Foxes, Snow Leopards, lynx, and bears. Ibexes were very social and
lived in groups called herds. The herds were segregated by gender. The males had a separate herd and
the male herd was called the bachelor herd. The female and offspring had separate herd and it
consisted of 10 to 20 members (Bradford, 2014). They would only meet during the breeding season.
The male Ibex used scent to communicate with a potential mate during breeding season. Breeding
season for Ibex is called a rut. They were very nimble and could jump more than 6 feet straight
without a running start. This would help them climb mountains with

A Chair For My Mother Character Analysis
Since before a child has been born they have introduced to the world of reading. Reading goes far
beyond education, it creates a relationship between parent and child, provides fundamentals of
language and speech skills, and helps to communicate society s values. The values that are taught
through books can be positive or negative and be stated implicitly or explicitly. The values that are
taught also transition, as a child grows older. In the book, A Chair for My Mother by Vera B. Williams,
they discuss the values of empathy and kindness. The Butterfly, by Patricia Polaccco, combines values
of altruism, empathy, and kindness, with culture roles and conflict. The Berenstain Bears and the In
Crowd by Stan and Jan Berenstain, values of friendships ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While you should always be kind and loyal to your friends, you should always be loyal to yourself
first. This concept is represented in the book The Berenstain Bears and the In Crowd, when sister is
faced between the decision to fit in or be herself and she chooses to be herself (Berenstain, 1989).
There are many ways values that could be placed on this situation, but I think it came down to her
being loyal to herself. Likewise, it shows the value of good friends. Even though Queenie tried to buy
sister s friends with ice cream they still chose to be on her team (Berenstain, 1989). While that was
nice of Queenie s friends I think there were problems in this book showing the true meaning of
friendships is not who is the best at sports, nicest clothes, or buys their friends gifts, but how they treat
your friends. Like many books that may not be clear in their values, or the values may be skewed it
can be used as a lesson or comparison between right and wrong. The book, Flipped, takes a different
approach on friendship. Juli has always been a true friend and been there for Bryce since the day he
moved next door, it isn t until Bryce makes a mean comment about Julies uncle that she realizes Bryce
is not a true friend. Once Juli decides not to be friends or make an effort, Bryce realizes what a great
friend she was to him and how

Ancient Mariner Allusions

of his spiteful actions, he and his crew are haunted by Biblical allusions; all of which is created to

However, when the winds return and the fog clears, they blame the Albatross for their misfortune of
being stuck in the mist and begin to stand by the bird s death: Ah wretch! Said they, the bird to slay
that made the breeze to blow! (Coleridge 23). Due to the sailor s agreeance towards the death of the
Albatross, they now share the guilt of the crime. But as they face the hardship of the still waters at sea,
some dream of the spirit that tormented them in the land of mist and snow . Hoping to escape the
misery, the sailors try to pin the fault on the Mariner alone by hanging the Albatross around his neck:
Ah! Well a day! What evil looks had I from old and young! Instead of the cross, the Albatross about
my neck was hung (Coleridge 34). Coleridge uses the act of hanging the albatross around the Mariners
neck in order to refer to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. By doing so, he is able to illustrate a sense of
loss of hope. This is comparable to the loss of hope experienced when Jesus was being nailed to the
cross. This allusion further depicts the overall meaning of the poem, being that only people that love
God s creations are able to gain

  • 2. Bad Indians Analysis There is an old African saying, when an elder dies, it is as if an entire library has burned to the ground. This happens to be the case when it comes to my family history. Unfortunately, my grandparents on both sides of my family have past away and the rest live across the world which can be difficult to contact. My parent s are going to be my sources for this assignment. They both have provided me with information about their childhood and the lives of my grandparent s. By using the stories provided from Deborah A. Miranda s book Bad Indians, I will compare and contrast the lives of my family to hers. Deborah A. During my parent s time there was not a school for just Armenians, they had to mix with the Iranian children. The main problem in these schools were that, you were only allowed to speak Farsi and were taught to read and write in Farsi. • 3. Pros Of Eugenics As a trained nurse in the slums and tenements of New York I had been brought face to face with conditions that made the so called sacredness of motherhood a term of unspeakable irony. Pregnant women drunken husbands hungry children, children born to a heritage of disease, filth, crime this was the order of that day. As one pregnancy followed another, a family sank deeper into the mire. And always denied contraceptive knowledge by their doctors, these women were driven to other means. On Saturday evenings, they lined up before the office of a cheap abortionist, each waiting her turn. You would tell us nothing, they seemed to reproach me (I knew nothing to tell them), and here we are. All too often wrecked health and death followed. Weighed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Birth control was seen as preventing events such as abortion and the cycle of poverty if used responsibility. It gave power back to women. Conversely, the eugenics movement is tainted with the distrust of women. A distrust that women would be unable to be responsible over their bodies and the need for strict control over women through legislation such as forced sterilization. While eugenicists may have supported birth control, they did not view it as an effective enough practice to prevent the birth of unfit children into American society. Eugenics wanted a long term solution to the problem of unfit children, not a short term ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The City Of A Small Town Is Better Than Living At A Big... Last August, I took a trip with the youth group from my church to Washington, D.C. to visit the church there in our congregation. While I was there for seven days, I found many things there that were much better in the large city, and other things very odd. Going out in the city and finding out these things were very interesting to me since I live in a small town Kalona, Iowa, with a population around three thousand people. After experiencing both, I can definitely say that both have their benefits and disadvantages. Personally, I still feel that living in a small town is better than living in a big city. In the big city, there are many things that are different, but the most obvious one is the sights. There is lots of tall buildings and streets connecting everywhere. Millions of people walking in every which way to do their own agendas. One thing that is evident while sight seeing is the amount of pollution. Trash and litter surrounded you almost everywhere you went, including the streets, curbs, water, grass, sidewalks, and even some buildings. As we walked around the monuments, one could see trash and pollution in the ponds surrounding our nation s famous monuments. It was surprising to me more people didn t want to keep them looking nice. Similarly, the small town of Kalona does have litter, but not nearly as much as the city. However, the city has much more people than a small town, so this is logical of the amount of pollution. In addition to the realization of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some believe it is because of retirement. The Toronto Star reported in 2001 that 14,000 of their 81,000 nurses were due to retire by 2004 (Honor Society of Nursing, 2001). The huge shortage of nurses has had an impact on patient care (Rosseter, 2011). They would need more graduating nurses to fill those open positions. There are several hospitals, long term care facilities, and home health agencies with multiple jobs open due to the shortage of nurses (Honor Society of Nursing, 2001). Experts also believe that nurses are enrolling into school at an older age averaging at 31 year age opposed to 18 years of age (Honor Society of Nursing, 2001). Some jobs are even offering a sign on bonus so they can fill these open positions. To new graduating nurse s this can be a good incentive since the medical field is competitive. Rachel Gotbaum did an interview on nursing shortage in 2007. There were multiple interviews with health care professionals through her interviews she found that In the next decade 80 million people will retire. She has stated that since health care changes constantly that nurses need to continue their education no matter how old or how many years they have been in the medical field. This play has in the past been praised by critics as the finest play with significant contemporary playwrights with regards to English language. Tom Stoppard has also been recognized as the greatest living playwright in English language theater with timely jumping masterpieces. • 10. Bell Jar Disconnection It is said that people cannot truly know themselves, but must rely on reflections in mirrors, photographs, and other people in their lives. Unable to see themselves as others see them, people often get confused and end up detaching themselves from reality. Author Sylvia Plath was a bright, young woman with an interest in poetry and writing. However, after the death of her father, she developed neurosis and attempted suicide for the first time using sleeping pills, but was unsuccessful. She uses her depression and suicidal tendencies as a foundation for her novel, published two weeks before her successful suicide. The Bell Jar highlights the concept of detachment through the main character, Esther, who feels a disconnection from herself. As she struggles to recognize herself and find a path for her future, she slowly descends into madness. Sylvia Plath in The Bell Jar creates the motifs of mirrors and magazines to convey the idea that individuals often have difficulty accepting themselves. Quite often, magazines glamorize real life and make reality distant from fact. This is especially true throughout The Bell Jar, starting as early as page 2 where the main character explains a ... Esther doesn t immediately recognize herself in an elevator reflection, which startles her and causes her to believe she is not alone in the elevator. Canadian banks were less involved in subprime lending activities due to the rules and regulations Canada falls under which would consequently result in less of an impact. Regardless of the origin of the crisis, changes in the U.S. economy result in an impact on Canada. The data includes information prior and after the crisis. Financial Innovations: From the data discovered based on the increase of technology, it provided an understanding of the traditional process of being granted or providing loans and mortgages. Banks traditionally grant loans to individuals or businesses that meet specific credit requirements and would receive periodic payments. This process continues until the loan is fully paid off. Due to the increase in technology, banks were able to lower their costs for transactions by securitizing loans electronically. This innovation allowed them to bundle up all small loans into a standard debt security, which then could be bought and sold in the financial market. This led to a structured credit product offering that generated large cash flows from a collection of underlying assets with certain risk management. Ditto for Amazon, Facebook, something called Berkshire Hathaway, and shares in, what was then, a small retailer based in Arkansas Walmart. We do not have hindsight. We can not guarantee success in everything we do. If the Iraq War only lasted 100 days, we would not have argued about whether there were weapons of mass destruction. It did not, on both counts. It lasted 3,195 days from March 20, 2003 till December 18, 2011. If we look back on the events surrounding the war, we can understand how it happened. Surprisingly, however, when we understood how, it was easier to understand and support the why. In March 2003, the United States initiated a preemptive war on Iraq. The key concepts of a chemical reaction are: The atoms and molecules that interact with each other are called reactants The molecules and atoms produced in a chemical reaction are called products No atoms are destroyed or created they only end up in other products Reactants collide with each other so new bonds between atoms in the reactants are broken, and atoms rearrange and form new bonds to make new products ... • 34. Sourd Vs Cullinan While Hollywood seems adamant to push the pace of its films to the absolute extreme, it is refreshing to be able to sit and patiently enjoy a film that rejects this silly philosophy. With Sofia Coppola s latest film, which earned her the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival becoming only the second woman to do so in the process, one enters an almost entire different era of filmmaking that, though superior in many ways, has become antiquated for many viewers. Now this is not the first film adaptation of The Beguiled novel, written by Thomas Cullinan; the novel was adapted in 1971 with Clint Eastwood in the starring role, but Sofia Coppola decided to give her own spin at the novel and succeeded in extraordinary ways. This film tells the story of an injured Union soldier (Colin Farrell) who is taken in by an all girl boarding school in Virginia until he heals. Now the film ... However, what makes the cinematography of this film great is not simply beautiful framing and lighting, but it enhances the characters. The aesthetic is reminiscent of period films like Barry Lyndon or Tess, two films whose cinematographers were awarded for their work on their respective films. Even though O Brien didn t die, the war still took away his life because a part of him will never be the same. Because the war was so confusing and because the soldiers couldn t tell who the enemy was, many felt that, the army had no solution but to kill people, uniformed or not, old or young, male or female, proven Viet Cong or not, (Fussell 654). To me this is how some tried to justify killing but still some just couldn t make themselves feel as if they were justified. The result of this guilt for the soldiers, psychologically, is that some of them seemed to go insane. For instance, at the trial, one of the soldiers of Charlie Company, Paul Meadlo said this about why he killed; he thought that the babies and children might attack: [t]hey might have had a fully loaded grenade on them. • 41. The Pearson Product Moment Correlation The Pearson product moment correlation is the most frequently utilized measure of relationships (Salkind, 2012). The symbol for this relationship is the letter r which represents the variables being correlated. Furthermore, the symbol rxy characterizes a correlation between two variables,X and Y. When computing a correlation, one requires a pair of scores, for example, reading scores and math scores for each group the researcher is working with. In the case of computing the correlation between the hours a group studies and test scores, one should measure the number of hours spent and the results of test for each individual. A good way to represent the findings is the use of scattergram, also known as scatter plot. Scattergrams provide a visual depiction of the correlation coefficient of the relationship between two variables, X and Y. They are very beneficial for researchers to determine correlation coefficients. Essentially, a correlation is a measure of how two different variables relate to one another, how they co relate. A scattergram shows that co relation on a diagram. The scattergram is like a graph or a bar chart, having a x and y at right angles to one another. In this case, the x axis represents one variable, while the y axis represents the second variable. The points on the scattergram are obtained by taking related measurements of the two variables. For me it doesn t matter if you deserve to suffer, rape isn t something to be played with or become an answer to a problem. Indiscriminate violence against civilians, including mass rape and sexual torture, are not an exception in so called new wars 18 or complex political emergencies, 19 but are the modus operandi by which these armed conflicts are fought. (Rape 131) Modus Operandi? Which means a new way of doing things, but why rape? During the wars they believed as something normal one could do to another country s women, yet after the massive rapes happening many women were destroyed emotionally. Not only did they chances to marry pure has disappeared, but also they are unable to even look at their love one like they did normally. When a person rapes another person, I think of them as animal that shouldn t be considered human. Why don t they think, what happens if someone was raping one of my family member? How would they feel? And what would I do? they don t think about the consequences of the victim and of the child they may posses in the near future. However, even though the research that was conducted knew there were massive of rapes, they were able to conclude a concise number because of the numerous women who didn t want to be interviewed of the situation that happened to them. What makes me angered is most of the victims were unable to fight back for their freedom because about 90.9% of the attackers were carrying weapons like pistols, spears and Machetes/knifes (Rape 140). This concept is represented in the book The Berenstain Bears and the In Crowd, when sister is faced between the decision to fit in or be herself and she chooses to be herself (Berenstain, 1989). There are many ways values that could be placed on this situation, but I think it came down to her being loyal to herself. Likewise, it shows the value of good friends. Even though Queenie tried to buy sister s friends with ice cream they still chose to be on her team (Berenstain, 1989). While that was nice of Queenie s friends I think there were problems in this book showing the true meaning of friendships is not who is the best at sports, nicest clothes, or buys their friends gifts, but how they treat your friends. However, when the winds return and the fog clears, they blame the Albatross for their misfortune of being stuck in the mist and begin to stand by the bird s death: Ah wretch! But as they face the hardship of the still waters at sea, some dream of the spirit that tormented them in the land of mist and snow . Hoping to escape the misery, the sailors try to pin the fault on the Mariner alone by hanging the Albatross around his neck: Ah! Well a day! What evil looks had I from old and young! Instead of the cross, the Albatross about my neck was hung (Coleridge 34). Coleridge uses the act of hanging the albatross around the Mariners neck in order to refer to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. By doing so, he is able to illustrate a sense of loss of hope.
