Voodoo In The New World
Michael Ventura and Mark McClain Taylor (1998) argues that voodoo is a shattered religion that
was put back together to serve the people of African descents. He further argues that voodoo is not
so much Africa in the New World as it is Africa meeting the New World, absorbing it and being
absorbed by it, and re forming (p. 178). This quote suggests that the encounter between Africa and
the New World is more than mixing old and new religion, but a hybrid of counterhistory. This
means that African slaves were able to insert their own religion in a number of ways to counter
Western dominance. On the other hand, transnationalism was important to the Haitiand Cuba as
many migrant groups were able to influence a specific area of the country

Video Mapping Essay
THE USE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN STAGING LIVE EVENTS
In this report I am going to be discussing different types of digital technology, all of which have
majorly evolved in recent years, and are always being used in today s events industry. Examples of
digital technologies include: video mapping, podcasts, lighting and sounds. In this report I am
going to focus on the evolution of video mapping and social media, and how it is used within
different types of events.
What is Video Mapping?
Video mapping is projecting a video onto a 3D object (i.e. a building). It creates an interactive
show, which engages the audience. Video mapping has hugely developed in recent years, with new
technologies allowing more and more opportunities for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1960 s, the first ever email was sent, and this was where online social media began to
commence. Although the first recognisable social media website was called Six Degrees, and
was not created until 1997. This allowed users to design a profile and chat with other users on
the site however, two years on, in 1999, the first blogging sites started to become popular, which
is what started the social media sites that we know today. This lead to social media exploding in
popularity, and next is how social media has evolved.
In the early 2000 s, MySpace became increasingly popular and in 2005 YouTube was created.
This was a huge advance in technology, as it allowed users an entirely different and new way for
people to share videos globally. A year on, Facebook and Twitter were introduced, and are still the
most popular social networking websites. After this, many different social media sites began to
surface Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram and Spotify, to name a few.
Facebook, being the most popular, has over 24 million active users per day, which is 37.5% of the
population. The beauty of social media is that users have an environment where they can share
posts, photos, videos, and even music to people around the world instantly. Social media is evolving

The Science Of Human Physical Activity
In Chapter one of our text, Introduction to Kinesiology the Science of Human Physical Activity by
Stephan Wallace. We are introduced to three major types of movement, Sportive movement,
symbolic movement, and supportive movement. At the basis of all three movements they are very
similar although they highlight different attributes of an athlete or a person living an everyday
lifestyle. Sportive movement is identified as a skill related physical activity, meaning any
competitive activity that has a clear winner or loser. Sportive movement also has the implication
that one person can be superior to another in that sport because, their skill level is significantly
higher than other teammates. An example would be a varsity football athlete and a college
football athlete. What can make the college player superior than a varsity player is that his muscle
mass has a higher density, making the hits have a greater force than that of a varsity player.
Another possibility that could make the college athlete s performance be superior is the skill level
at which they train at. Symbolic movement refers to physical activity that expresses thoughts and
feelings through the body; the main emphasis being physical expressiveness (Wallace 2013). This
type of movement is seen in the art division, such as dance, music, poetry, literature. With symbolic
movement, we are expressing our thoughts; our feelings by using more than just words, we paint a
visual picture with our language or our

Essay about The Cuban Missile Crisis
When President John F. Kennedy failed with the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in 1961, the United
States started placing fifteen Jupiter intermediate range ballistic missiles (IRBM) near Izmir,
Turkey. Even though President Kennedy said that these missiles might have questionable strategic
value the Soviet Premier, Nikita Khrushchev, made America aware of his anger and distain
regarding Kennedy s decision. Khrushchev believed that these missiles were not only an offense to
him, but to his country as well. However, the United States also possessed nuclear submarines
which posed an even greater threat than the IRBM s. The Soviet Unioncame to realize that they
were extremely outmatched in the area of nuclear weapons and the decision by... Show more

The EX COMM committee was unaware of Khrushchev s intentions if an invasion were to take
place. Kennedy was, however, determined to take such drastic measures this early on in the
conflict and talk of a blockade was in the air. No matter what the United States would do,
officials believed that retaliation from the Soviets was inevitable. However, anything other than
the use of nuclear weapons was deemed as a smart decision at the time. The decision to invade
Cuba was finally thrown out , leaving only two decisions left. An air raid on Cuba could be used
which would kill many people and possibly risk nuclear missile launch. The other decision was
for a blockade or quarantine to be set up around Cuba to keep incoming missiles and supplies from
reaching the coast. A quarantine of Cuba would be carried out and seemed to be the best possible
choice, under the circumstances. The decision made by President Kennedy, saved America from
nuclear war that day. If the United States had invaded Cuba then the Soviet Union would have a
launched an attack, which in turn would have caused America to launch their missiles at Cuba and
the Soviet Union. This ultimately would have led to global nuclear warfare and the loss of life
would have been substantial. The significance of the decision not to invade Cuba was a life saving
one but, other issues during the short thirteen day timeframe would

Comparison Of Jesus Birth In The Gospels Of Matthew And Luke
The inclusion of Jesus birth is presented in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, this is where many
artists derive their inspiration from while making out visuals for the nativity scene. Some choose
to leave certain aspects out or include others that are not at all presented in the writing to either
highlight specific themes or to better portray the culture for which the scene is for. The artist Dora
Gelsinger decides to incorporate the majority of the details found into her portrayal of the nativity
scene. The elements she takes from Matthew are the star of Bethlehem and the three Magi bearing
gifts (Mat 2:1 12). The feature of Luke included are Jesuswrapped in clothes and in a manger and
the visit of a shepherd; both gospels have the presence

Complexity And Algorithms That Can Take An Impossible...
Complexity and Tractability
The area of tractability explores problems and algorithms that can take an impossible amount of
computation to solve. Tractable problems can be roughly defined as problems that can be solved
in a reasonable amount of time, while intractable problems are those which take too long to solve
to be useful. Finding solutions to these problems is a key problem in computer science today and
has been for many years. It is also important for a computer scientist to recognise intractable
problems as it would be a huge waste of time trying to write a program to an intractable problem.
It would be better to recognise this and take a different more suitable approach that would save
time and effort but also would come up with a valid solution. However there are advantages to
making a problem intractable though as when securing things using intractable codes which cannot
be hacked into easily. Complexity can be simply defined as a rough estimation of amount of time it
takes a particular algorithm to solve a problem. This is not only measured in time but can be
expressed as the number of steps taken in order to solve a problem. It is important to be able to
measure the complexity of a problem as this can help to indicate how good/effective an algorithm
will be and whether it is tractable or not.One of the most popular intractable problems that has been
found is the Traveling Salesman problem. This problem represents a salesman who wants to find
the shortest

The Legality of the NSA Essay
After the disclosures by Edward Snowden turned a critical eye to the NSA many people
questioned the legality of the acts. The NSA claimed that their work was legal and had prevented
many terrorist plots. However, evidence of only four plots was ever found. Even if the acts were
founded in law, they still angered large numbers of citizens. Many citizens do not care if the spying
is legal, believing that it is morally wrong. Governmentsurveillanceorganizations have grown to be
extremely powerful and are capable of accessing large swaths of personal information; these
abilities intrude into the private lives of citizens and need to be curtailed.
The NSA collects information via various means. Some information is taken during transmission ...

With this information at hand, consumer trust in the companies dropped significantly; most
notably overseas where the NSA has fewer restrictions on what information could not be taken
about individuals. This is just a dragnet, a collection of basic information on everybody. If they
have a suspect, then they are more specific in their search. In a search for possible associates that
might provide information about possible plots the NSA can search three jumps , or degrees of
separation, from the target. This means that a friend of a friend of a friend of a target can be
spied on more so than the usual dragnet approach. This may seem like a relatively small quantity
at first, but considering that the average Facebook user has 190 friends, 16% of which are friends
with each other, from one subject it is possible that over 5 million individuals can be spied on from
one individual. Even a subject having just one friend or associate can result in over 26 thousand
individuals being the subject of spying efforts. Of course, there are more ways to retrieve
personal information than just phone records and Facebook profiles. The NSA can access any
and all e mail transmissions, the audio and video from services such as Skype, and documents
saved on cloud storage services. Cars often have black boxes which record information such as
speed, acceleration,

Frankenstein s Monster
In many books and stories the monster is portrayed as a mysterious, awful, powerful and
inhuman creature created for numerous reasons. In one story the monster was created so that
the creator could prove that he could make life and be just like God or be a God, in another no
one knows the origin of the monster as a fact making the stories merely legions. Additionally,
there was even a story about a man who didn t want to feel any empathy for the crimes he
committed so he created his own special kind of monster, himself. All of these monsters have very
strange abilities that make them seem unreal and very inhuman yet also very believable at the
same time, thus why they are such good stories, but over the year s big movie industries such as...

When you start to take little characteristics out the story, even if they don t seem like they are
that vital, it could take away a big part of the story for the audience. With the monsters talked
about they were portrayed a certain way in the writing that made them seem fictional, but
possible making them such good stories to read. So, when the movies started to come out and
they were missing some of the key details the audience who had never read the books didn t
understand the full concept of what they were watching, they didn t understand that the monster
on the screen was meant to be more realistic and believable to scare them and make them think
that the being on the screen could be real or possible. That is why details are important in
stories, and when creating a something based off a book or story it should be as close to the
description as possible. Otherwise you could ruin the idea of the story based on only a few

Thomas
I can relate to Thomas because of these four ways. Thomas was doubtful and worked hard at finding
out the truth. He helped out others believe in Jesus even though they have never seen Him. He
taught about Jesus to others. And he struggled a lot throughout his life with Jesus.
Thomas doubted and so he worked hard at finding out the truth. He always doubted because of his
faith, he wanted to see with his own eyes instead of believing what he wanted to see. For
example when Jesus was crucified on the cross he was speared in the chest and nailed to the
cross from his wrists. When Jesus was resurrected He visited the group of disciples but Thomas
wasn t with the group at the time. So when Thomas came to them they told him about the good
news but he didn t believe them unless he saw and felt Jesus wounds in his wrists and chest.
Jesus then invited Thomas to see Him so he did and Thomas felt his wounds and believed. The way
I work hard is my schedule; I have to wake up go to swim practice from 5:00 to 7:00. Then I have
to go to school for six hours and do a lot of assignments for each class. After each class they assign
homework which usually takes another two hours after school. Then I have to go to swim
practice again for another two hours. When I m finished with practice I have to go eat dinner,
then I go home around 8:00 8:30. I have to do my homework which takes forever and go to bed
late and wake up early the next morning for practice. It s hard to do mostly because of the
amount of school work we have. When I have to wake up for practice it makes it even harder
because I put in all my effort and end up tired before school and makes it harder to concentrate.
Then after school I have to practice really hard again, and by the time I get home I m exhausted
and just want to go to sleep, but I have to stay up and do a lot of homework. I keep doubting that
I won t be able to get my work done on time or work hard at practice. I just try to do my best at
either my school work or swimming no matter what.
Thomas was an inquisitive man. Thomas curious mind led him to doubt God s work in the world,
but also led him to discover answers to his questions, which led him to

Aaron The Odyssey
Aaron is the priest that helps the Israelites create the idol they so desire, it is interesting that as a
worshiper of God he quick to give into their demand. Possibly Aaron is equally as frightened as
the people since Moses takes forty days and forty nights to return to them and at this point they are
getting restless, or perhaps he would take this as an opportunity to seize more power. With Moses
gone and the people doubting his return, a creation of a new god would allow the creator to wield
an incredibly large amount of power, getting close to the amount that Moses himself has. The
creator could insert themselves as the new chosen prophet, and attempt to take over through his
godly right.

When Rome was newly established there was a vast disparity between the unmarried women
and the men, the women were far outnumbered. Romulus knew that a new city like his couldn t
survive without women to increase the population, and that they quickly need more. After
appeals to the neighboring cities with no avail, he decided that if they would not come, he
would take them by force. His solution for this is to set a trap for the Sabine women, a festival
was announced and people from neighboring cities were invited. Once they arrived, the women
were carried off to be married to the men of the city; subsequently the Sabine s reacted and
prepared for war against Rome to retrieve their stolen women. War ensued but eventually the
Sabine s and Rome came to an agreement and later ruled together. This kidnap and rape of the
Sabine women falls under the armed actions that Machiavelli finds appropriate for a new king. In
order for their people to survive certain measures should be taken, and he believes that the most
affective ones are done with force. Also, this action was done with a selfless goal in mind, the
advancement of the Roman

Identifying an Unknown Solid Using Melting Point and Mixed Melting Point Data
Shultz, Joshua T.

The experimenters inserted a capillary tube containing approximately 2 to 3 mm of benzoic acid
into a manual Mel Temp melting point apparatus. With the Mel Temp dial set between 3 and 4, the
temperature increased at a steady rate of approximately 2В° C per minute from a plateau set at
90В° C. The first appearance of liquid occurred at 119В° C, and the benzoic acid completely melted
by 122В° C giving a melting point range of 119В° C to 122В° C for benzoic acid. Repeating the
procedure for 2 naphthol returned a melting point range of 118В° C to 123В° C. Next, a 1:1 mixture

Discussion
A pure organic compound melts or freezes fairly sharply over a specific temperature range called its
melting point. This physical constant can help identify a substance. Generally, any impurity added
to a pure substance will lower its observed melting point and increase the range over which melting
occurs. Therefore, when two pure organic substances possess a similar melting point, a mixture
containing both substances will often melt at a lower temperature and over a broader range.
Conversely, if a mixture of a known and unknown substance actually contains a single substance,
the melting point of the mixture will not deviate from the melting point of the known.
Davis (1913) demonstrated that pairs of substances with similar melting points melted at lower
temperatures and over broader melting ranges when mixed. Since the separation and purification of
a compound from food or excretions often leaves toxicologists with very little material to examine,
Davis (1913) recommended the use of melting point and mixed melting point data for

Symptoms And Treatment Of Psychiatric Illnesses
Introduction
Psychiatric illnesses affected heavily almost every country of the world. Billions of dollars are put
to research on psychiatric disorders every year. Although from time to time new methods of
treatment are followed by researchers. However the results and the efficiency of treatment are
almost bleak. In brain sciences the problems which we start with before hundred years are almost
as such and with psychiatry it becomes more compounded. We are not yet able to control the
psychiatric problems even with 21st century advances in the medical science. From time to time the
scientists use multiple approaches in understanding the puzzles in relation to the brain and its
functions. Though we make a small progress towards understanding or close to understanding such
puzzles. However close analysis shows that we are still far away from understanding some basic
rules which the brain used throughout its functions. There must lies a void in our understanding of
the brain and its functioning. Though brain is highly complex organ it also works through complex
processes and mechanisms. There is the exigent need to help understand the mysteries of the brain
science and its functioning. There is a need to help solve brain mysteries through multiple
perspectives.
Classical Understanding
As until recently almost all our understanding of biological processes including brain is mostly
based on some principles of classical or Newtonian physics. Such classical principles have been

The Bible Is Full Of Wisdom And Folly
The Bible is full of wisdom and folly. This essay will evaluate the concepts of diligent people in
Hebrew wisdom being wise, while the lazy person is a fool. The major part of the essay will
concentrate in Proverbs, but we will review some scriptures from Ecclesiastes. Proverbs was
written by Solomon, and he wrote it out of concern for his children. Ecclesiastes is said to have
been written by Solomon, but this is not certain. Both books can be used by all for guidance,
regardless of their age. Proverbs in general concentrates on moral virtues, and the opposite, their
vices. The main theme of the book is the fear of the Lord, as it is seen fourteen times in Proverbs.
Ecclesiastes main theme is life without God is empty, pointlessness and without meaning. There are
a lot of contrasting chapters and verses comparing the differences between being wise and foolish,
the wicked and righteous and the lazy and hardworking. Both books mainly concentrate on the
contrasts between evil and good and foolishness and wisdom. So, let s look at some verses and
relate the concepts, describe and compare them to being diligent (wise) or laziness (foolish).
In Proverbs 15:19 it says The way of a sluggard is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the
upright is a level highway (ESV). This saying corroborates the points of Proverbs concerning the
directives that diligence is the way of the wise and the path with less resistance. But the path of
laziness is foolishness and filled with trouble,

Essay about Porter s 5 in Mining Industry
1. Porters 5 forces Analysis:
1.1 Buyer power:
The buyers for mining industry usually have medium to high power. There are two elements that
could affect the buyer s power. One is buyer s level of negotiation; the other is buyer s price
sensitivity. In our case, the two companies are producing coal and uranium. These two products are
mainly used for producing electricity. Buyers for these natural resources must have large quantity
of demand, and also they usually have government behind them for negotiation. Even through these
natural resources are unrenewable and limited, there are other mining companies producing them
and these resources are undifferentiated from other companies products. This makes the buyers

1.3 Rivalry among existing firms:
The competition of mining industry is medium to high. One major competition for mining industry
is the competition for resources and mines, which is different from other industries. Since the
resources are limited and unrenewable, together with the continues increasing demand for energy,
such as coal demand of China and India, the battle of exploiting and developing new mines are
intensive. Also, there are many competitors in the industry. However, since the exit barriers are
high, the competition is limited within the existing companies. Companies in the industry might
battle for larger market share but facing little threat of new entries. Thus, the competition in the
industry is concluded as medium to high.
1.4 Threat of new entrants:
New entrants may pose a threat to the company by introducing new innovative products at a
competitive prices and eating into their market share and customer loyalty. The threat of entry for
the coal and uranium industry tends to be low due to high entry barriers. The reason for this is the
government regulations and restriction on coal and uranium mining companies. Resources of coal
and uranium are laminated. The capital expenditure or set up of mining company is very high.
Moreover, mining companies has a high exit cost and that because the use of specialized asset. Also,

A Report On The Marine Corps
A month after graduating high school, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In less than
a year after that, I found myself speeding in a Humvee on a dirt road in Habbiniyah, Iraq, just a
mile of the Euphrates River. Our mission was to assist a Marine Reconnaissance unit in securing
insurgent weapon caches. I could feel the adrenaline rushing through my veins, as I was ready to
tackle my first major op. My truck, along with another, responded to the recon unit when they
radioed for help to load a weapons cache. As we sped over to the site, an IED exploded and
ripped apart the engine of the following truck. The vehicle contained my squad leader, two
marines, and our squad s only medic. As a combat lifesaver (CLS), my secondary mission kicked
in. My instincts were to assess the casualties, triage, and treat the wounded. We were fortunate they
only suffered concussions, with the gunner having minor lacerations to the face. After dressing the
wound, a MEDEVAC was secured to transport them back to base. Within minutes of the helicopter
leaving, another explosion was heard where the cache was located. We rushed to the scene, only to
see a truck engulfed in flames. When I reached the casualty collection point, I was updated on what
occurred. The truck hit a landmine as they were backing onto the road, injuring everyone near the
vehicle. Most of the passengers got out, but one was unconscious and trapped inside. Much to my
dismay, the Marine was my team leader. I fought

According to the text book, terrorism is defined as a systematic attempt to inspire fear to gain
political ends, typically involving the indiscriminate use of violence against noncombatants.
Terrorist attacks is definately not new to the U.S. In 2001, al Qaeda lauched an attack on New
York s World Trade Center. The attack killed thousands of Americans, and put the country in a
state of panic and scare. One reason for this attack was that Islamics were angered that the U.S
had troops on the soil of Saudi Arabia, which was regarded as sacred. Groups such as al Qaeda
are extremely violent, and will not be negotiated with for peace. Recently, we have had several
terrorist attacks including the Boston Marathon bombing, Muslim shooting at Fort Hood, and
ISIS attacks on soldiers and journalists. Recently, attacks from domestic islamists are a major
concern for the U.S. These individuals are self radicalized through beliefs and the internet, rather
than being a part of a group. Farook and Malik, of the San Bernardino attacks, are examples of
this. In my opinion, terrorism is a huge concern for all of the people of our country. I think the
United States needs to have better background checks and investigations on immigrants before
letting them into our country, and we need to have better online and phone security from the
government so they can weed out threatening individuals that are already in the U.S. Without more
security, organizations like ISIS or self radicals may extremely harm our country and kill many of

Aristotle On Prejudice
In the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga s performance of Eurydice, there are key elements
that set this performance aside from others. Likewise, Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher
who carries heavy influence on thought. Therefore, Aristotle has certain ideas as to what elements
drama should try to accomplish. This specific performance of Eurydice ties in all six of these
elements of drama, which includes plot, theme, character, diction, music, and spectacle. As far as
plot goes, this particular play is fairly rapid in scene changes and, at times, it can be difficult to

In this article, Rosemarie Garland Thomson mentions four ways people see disability: it is a
system for interpreting bodily variations, the relations between bodies and their environments,
practices that produce both the able bodied and the disabled, and a way of describing the inherent
instability of the embodied self (74). People always stare at the disabled because they couldn t
resist it and of curiosity. Rosemarie said, Staring thus created disability as a state of absolute
difference rather than simple one more variation in humanform (57). This quote means that by
staring at the disabled, it make it seem like the disabled are something else rather human. This story
is valuable because it shows that people couldn t accept the appearance

Accuracy Of Ultrasound
In some cases, ultrasound is a great technique in detecting and diagnosing acute appendicitis. In
other cases, CT is a more precise and accurate tool. There is variation in the accuracy, sensitivity,
and specificity of US, but accuracy seems to be higher when performed by a skilled and
experienced radiologist. US does have some advantages over CT in diagnosing, and it is an
accurate tool in diagnosing acute appendicitis in pregnant women. However, the most accurate
results seem to come from the combined use of US and CT, or MRI alone. Lastly, there are better
treatment outcomes when a clinical scoring system is used with US. Limitations of the 15 peer

The accuracy of sonography varies based on the skills of the individual performing the
procedure, but with a experienced and qualified radiologist, US can be an appropriate first
choice in diagnosing acute appendicitis, especially for pregnant women. Therefore, sonography
is an accurate tool in diagnosing AA during pregnancy and when performed by a qualified and
experienced radiologist. However, CT is often more precise and accurate in many cases, so it
should be used when the US has equivocal findings. In most studies, ultrasound sensitivity and
specificity were comparable to CT, which is often viewed as a more accurate method but
sometimes avoided due to possible harmful ionizing radiation used in the procedure. The use of
CT with US is the most accurate technique in diagnosing acute appendicitis since US has certain
advantages over CT that can improve diagnostic accuracy. US should be the first method used to
investigate AA because it is quick, non invasive, and keeps the patient safe from radiation. CT
should be used when the ultrasound doesn t give conclusive results; CT or MRI should be used
with suspected perforated appendix. A clinical scoring system, like Alvarado, should be used to
increase the chance of success in treatment. Gaps in the literature show future research must be

Compare And Contrast Essay On The Hobbit
The Hobbit was a novel which revolved around the Lord of the Rings trilogy. J. R. R. Tolkien
wrote this book as an aid to his PTSD. This novel was loosely based on the Medieval Times,
from the Anglo Saxon and Scandinavian works. The narrative followed around a group of people
on a quest to take the treasure of Smaug. There are many important components of each story.
These include its plot, themes, or setting. In this essay, I will be explaining the similarities and
differences between the three races of The Hobbit. The first topic of discussion will be the
comparison of the race s physical traits. These physical traits allow a reader to visualize
characters. It also gives the reader to make their own judgements of a race based on appearance.
In the terms of height, the hobbits and dwarves are shorter than an average human. The hobbits
... wear no shoes... thick warm brown hair like the stuff on their heads... (2, Ch. 1) This race also
loves peace, quiet, and a good tilled earth. The dwarves, however, are stocky and tough. An
average dwarf grows a long bread on their faces and wear heavy cloaks. Verification for this
account is, It was a dwarf with a blue beard tucked into a golden belt, very bright eyes under his
dark green hood. (7, Ch. 1). They are very strong from their continuous work in the mines.
Dwarves worked in mines and caverns to acquire the many gems needed for their crafting. The
dwarves also had experience in fighting wars with other races. Elves are a

In this assignment we introduce the idea that the organizational culture is the personality of an
organization which can be defined, measured, sustained and changed and have an important impact
on an organization s effectiveness.
We want to define organizational culture as it is presented by two theorists, indicate levels of
expressions of culture in an organization, and provide specific strategies or tools to modify
organizational culture.
We know that every individual has something that psychologists have termed personality . An
individual s personality is made up of a set of relatively permanent and stable traits. When we
describe someone as innovative, relaxed, warm or conservative, we are describing personality traits.

We believe that the internal and external problems are closely interconnected and organizations
must deal with them simultaneously.
In conclusion, Schein (1992) defines the organizational culture as shared assumptions and beliefs
about the world and their place in it, the nature of time and space, human nature, and human
relationships. Organizational culture have distinct dimensions that can be defined and measured.
This is important to know in order to develop and use change strategies of the culture.
Ott s definition of the organizational cultureOn the other hand Ott (1989), in The Organizational
Culture Perspective describe organizational culture as a social constructed, unseen, and
unobservable force behind organizational activities. Organizational culture is a social energy that
moves organizational members to act and unifying theme that provides meaning and direction to
and mobilizes the members. It functions as an organizational control mechanism, informally
approving or prohibiting behaviors (Lawson and Shen, 1998).
In short, organizational culture is a hypothetical construct that must be inferred from the share
thoughts, feelings, values, and actions of organizational members.
Last, Ott suggested that organizational culture is a concept, construct, energy, idea, rather

Self Narrative Analysis
Being part Italian comes with a few stereotypical ideas including: you most likely talk with your
hands, are very affectionate, and animated. These stereotypes are true and very apparent in my style
of intimacy and emotional expression. I have grown up in a very loving, nurturing and affectionate
environment where hearing the words I love you, are the norm. In my familywe hug and kiss each
other on the cheeks both when greeting and/or saying good bye to each other. My Nonna is also
known to pinch those same cheeks or at times give an affectionate pinch on the rumpus. I thought

Neuhaus (2017) states, our stories/narrative helps us to organize our experiences so they make
sense. For this paper the self narrative is used to explain our story of how we interact with our
romantic or close interpersonal relationships. The ability to do this is not something I have
always had but rather something I have learned over time with the help of therapist and
determination to learn to become a better communicator and more differentiated self. Being a
middle child I found myself in the role of the pleaser, the child who was easy going, did not
cause any conflict, was quiet and shy and did not demand much attention from parents but
would receive some attention by doing something that pleased my parents. This role continued
through high school and into my marriage where I thought it was my fault if my husband was
upset or mad about something. I also married young having never gotten the chance to go on to
college nor learn to differentiate as an adult. I went from one close knit family into another
without learning to be on my own or to rely on myself. This caused a little bit of emotional
fusion in my relationship with my husband because I needed him to replace the role that my
parents filled in our relationship. After counseling I learned that I did not need to take on my
husband s negative attitudes as my own and it was okay for me to be happy when he was upset
or angry. A technique taught to me by one of the counselors included hula hoops. I and the
counselor would stand inside our own hula hoop to better illustrate that the space we inhabited as
a metaphor for our personal space, life and emotions. When my counselor invaded my personal
space with his hula hoop I learned that this was my personal space therefore I had control and the
power to dictate whether or not another person was allowed to do so. With that in mind it was also
within my power to decide if I

Photosynthesis Process
Photosynthesis is a process that plans protistans and some bacteria, use energy from the sun to
create sugar. Cellular respiration turns into ATP which is fuel used by all living things. The
transformation of sunlight energy into chemical energy, also goes along with the same process as
green pigment chlorophyll. The photosynthetic process mostly uses water and releases the oxygen
that is mandatory for us humans must have to live. The two stages connected with Photosynthesis
are called light dependent reactions and light independent reactions, light independent reactions is
also known as the Calvin Cycle. Light dependent reactions need sunlight, the energy from this
sunlight is consumed by chlorophyll and made into stored energy. This energy is now in the form

These reactions working in respiration are called catabolic reactions, that break bigger molecules
down into smaller molecules , letting energy release in the operation , as weak so called high
energy components are substituted by stronger components in the produce. Respiration is mainly
how a cell releases energy to start the cellular procedure. Cellular respiration is thought of as an
exoergic redox reaction that puts off heat. The general reaction happens in a multitude of
biochemical processes, most of these are redox responses their selves. Even though cellular
respiration happens to be a combustion metathesis , it obviously does not appear as one during its
process in a living cell because of its sluggish discharge of energy from the multitude of
oxidisation. The different stages of cellular respiration consist of but are not limited to pyruvate

The Negative Effects Of Violent Video Games On Children
Video games are the national pastime and have a lot of influences on our children, youths, and
young adults. The drive to become the best or beat the game can change the player s outlook on
life. Violence in video games has been seen as the cause for aggressive and harmful behavior in
young children. Many children become addicted to these video games when they are not
monitored. The game child plays can be a good or a bad thing in his life. Some games teach
children to develop problem solving skills, enhance creativity, knowledge retention and literacy.
However, the same case does not apply to violent video games. Many studies have shown that
violent video games have negative effects on children. These video games have called for concern
in our society regarding issues such as physical violence, such as biting, hitting, and kicking,
yelling and screaming at someone and destroying properties. The effects of violent video games
have varied, children becoming desensitized because these games reward their violent acts and
let them view violence as acceptable conflict solver. It makes them resort to saying mean and
hurtful towards others. The graphics on these video games cause children to lack empathy. They
enjoy seeing another get hurt, see and view the world as a hostile place, and they are unable to
relate to the emotions of the other. People have been blaming video games for school shooting and
children behavior. But research, as shown that there are many positives effects violent video
games, have on children. Children who are preoccupied with violent video games express
aggressive behavior, show lack of empathy and become desensitized.
The primary consumers of violent video games are teens. More ways of playing violent video
games are created each year, but most of us have this question in mind. Constant killing in these
games can teach them to act aggressively. Most video games content is hunting a character to kill.
If the player does these operations too often, he or she can subconsciously learn those actions and
become violent as well. Children who play these games becomes isolated and introvert. They
mimic the character in the games and unable to tell what is real. (Violent Video Games and

No Pain Analysis
A person that doesn t feel pain may sound like something you would read in the comics, but in
real life there are in fact some people who don t feel pain. There are two hereditary reasons for
this condition. First are neuropathies, which is the pain detecting nervous system that doesn t
fully develop. The other is congenital analgesia that starts at birth where the pain detecting
nervous system grows however does not function (The Conversation par. 8). Although many
people would love the idea of being able to feel no pain, there are some rather unpleasant side
affects. A person wouldn t be able to know if he or she is injured, have no sense of smell, and a
person would not fully understand what s dangerous.
People with this condition receive injury without knowing it. They can feel the difference between
what s sharp, dull, hot and chilly. However they can t, for instance, tell that a hot drink is hurting
their tongue (Congenital Insensitivity to Pain pg. 1). A boy named Isaac is one of these few
people. He feels something but the pain must be many times greater to compare to how normal
people would be, said Brown. Brown explained that Isaac couldn t tell that his ankle was broken.

Waswani Tribe
British treaty negotiators at the time had a dimmer view of the Parry Islanders considering them
a stubborn lot growing small patches of corn and potatoes for a bon bouche in the autumn .
They also note that they are still living in wigwams and not log cabins as many other tribes had
been doing for centuries. The area in and around Parry Sound became divided into 5 regions
whose boundaries often followed waterways and contained a roughly equatable amount of land
and lakes. Blackstone and Crane Lake along with Whitefish Lake and Lake Joseph, down to the
Moon River, were contained in the region of the Waswani branch of the Parry Island farmer or
Wasauksing Anishinabe (Ojibwe). For winter the Waswani gathered on Maple Lake. As for
neighbouring bands, to the immediate north of Wasauksing is the Shawanaga band, to the south
east, the Ojibwe of Lake Simcoe and south the Ojibwe of Lake Huron. All these bands easily
traded between each other. The boundaries between the families having use of a particular land, say
on Blackstone, and neighbouring ones was treated with great respect. For example, Gilbert

Joseph that would include a Blackstone Waswani family (Claims commission, A.S. Williams, LAC

freedoms appealed to numerous immigrants from foreign countries, causing a gigantic migration of

Manufacturing Execution Systems Join The Cyber Physical...
Manufacturing becomes more and more complicated when production series are short, products are
diversified and production technology is variable. In the case of short series production,
Manufacturing Execution Systems join the cyber physical part of production with virtual
manufacturing services and business level operations. Unfortunately, most of the existing
architectures follow the paradigm of hierarchical MES placed between the control systems and
business application level. They have fixed interfaces to production facilities and a predefined set

manufacturing operations but in the case of highly dynamic, short series production, it is... Show

The traditional design of manufacturing control systems does not allow for rapidly expanding
options in materials, processes, interfaces to product models that have a number of variants. Holons
allow the implementation of production variants and the rapid reconfiguration of the machines and
robots. Proposed MES architecture supports the capability of production systems. Demand chain
management will allow for a significant reduction in waste and will increase the profitability of
production systems. Flexible production planning will effect in reducing the setup and changeover
time and costs. The strategic target of proposed MES solution is one piece flow production that
means the feasibility of short series production (up to one element) by using the production lines
designed formerly for mass manufacturing.
Like all industrial solutions, the proposed MES also has to fit the existing standards accepted by
industry. The authors define an MES functional model that complies with the third part of the
widely accepted ANSI/ISA 95 (IEC/ISO 62264) standard. Since ISA95 represents a hierarchical
vision of MES, this model has been adapted to the heterarchical agent based architecture. ISA 95

Essay on The Epic of Gilgamesh on Immortality and Its...
As long as humans have lived and died, we have strived to know the meaning of life. We assume
that there is a meaning or importance to life, and in doing so try to provide some permanence to our
existence so that a greater machine might continue to function. It is only natural, then, for us to be
interested in the concept of immortality. If there is purpose to an ending life, a life that does not
end must be supremely important. This idea is exemplified throughout time in stories both
historical and fictional. The Epic of Gilgameshis one such story. Gilgamesh deals with immortality
on nearly every level, and at the same time points back to mortality, trying to extract a reason for
living and dying. Ostensively, The Epic of Gilgamesh... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the Bull of Heaven is sent to Uruk from the gods, Gilgamesh and Enkidu slay it quickly by
stabbing a sword into the Bull s neck (Gilgamesh 82). If the Bull of Heaven is a god, then clearly
the gods can be killed. The Bull of Heaven also seems to be a guardian of sorts for the gods,
which implies the gods need protection. Later the story describes a flood weapon that gods are
actually fearful of (Gilgamesh 113), perhaps because it could bring about their death. This all makes
an interesting distinction between immortality and invincibility В– although life might continue
forever if left alone, it is not necessarily incapable of being stopped. And the spiritual life seems to
continue for humans when the physical life ends. Enkidu talks about being taken to a horrible
afterlife: He seized me, drove me down toВ… the house where those who stay are deprived of
light, where dust is their food, and clay their bread. (Gilgamesh 89). Thus, while humans might be
able to obtain spiritual immortality, it will only be a state of suffering, which reflects back to the
negativity of seeking immortality in life. Gilgamesh also deals with perpetual life by symbolically
demonstrating death and rebirth. Enkidu, after having intercourse with the prostitute Shamhat, is
rejected by the animal kingdom that was his home (Gilgamesh 55 56). At this moment, Enkidu s
life as an animal ends, but his life continues as a human. Similarly, the snake that steals Gilgamesh s

Cash Flow Planning will help you understand where your income is going and give you a better
idea of your expenses. Your cash flow planning should be realistic and paint a clear picture. As
seen earlier in your cash flow statement you have a surplus of $9,000 at the end of the year.
This tells me that your family is doing a good job of being financially responsible. I have
included a pie chart that breaks down your cash outflows. This pie chart will give you a better
idea of where your money is going. As you can see from the pie chart you biggest sources of
cash outflows are taxes and living expenses. While I think your family is doing well financially
you could benefit greatly from reducing your everyday living expenses. Your family spends a
significant amount of money on recreations, vacations, and other personal expenses. By cutting
down on these expenses you would be able to invest more money into your children s education
expenses or your own retirements. Currently you are only investing 9% of your income into
educational expenses and 6 percent of your income towards retirement. Investment Vehicles There
is no one single financial product or philosophy that is right for every family. There are many

Compare And Contrast The Satisfaction Theory Of Atonement
The premise of the whole Christian faith is that Christ died for humanity s sin but there is debate
amongst why his sacrifice did this. The disagreement in the exact way atonement was achieved by
death on the cross are seen in the multiple different theories. Christus Victor states that Jesus
Defeated the devil and evil at the cross, making his victory humanity s satisfaction. The Satisfaction
theory argues that Jesusdeath payed a debt owed thus making the satisfaction of the debt humanity s
victory. The Penal Substitution Theory is close to Satisfaction but is different in that it says a
penalty was required as a result of sin and Jesus substituted himself in humanity s place. Moral
Exemplar illustrates that Christ life and death were an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to this theory, every sin requires payment in return and Jesus death was the eternal
payment for sin. Some texts used to defend this theory include Isaiah 53:10 12, Mark 10:45, Matt
3:17, Matt 20:28, and Romans 3:23 25. The original author of the Satisfaction theory, St. Anslem
of Canterbury, was known as a unifier because when he came into his bishop position in
Canterbury there was great division in the community between the monks. According to R.W.
Southern, there were two different groups of monks at the cathedral and because of it the
community was still bitterly divided when he arrived, and Anselm was quite simply the only
person who could heal the division, and he knew it (Southern, 2009, pg. 52). In his mission to
unify, Anslem probably sought to bring the focus of Christians to the idea that Jesus satisfied
humanity s sin and away from disunity. The resurrection and ascension is significant in this theory
because if death is the payment for this sins committed. If Jesus remained dead, then he would be
still paying the price as opposed to paying it in full as shown in his resurrection back to life and

Impact Of The Emancipation Proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamation: The Union s Greatest Asset
The Emancipation Proclamation was a document issued by President Lincoln, that emancipated
slaves, and slowly crippled the Confederacy during the Civil War, due to how it affected the south
economically and diplomatically. In the beginning of the Civil War, although, the Union possessed
a larger, better equipped army, the Confederacy managed to secure victories on the battlefield. The
war, which was thought to be a short one, lasted longer than expected. President Lincoln was quoted
in 1862 about the Union s war efforts, saying, the bottom was out of the tub (Mast). This basically
meant that the Union s economic situation was strained due to the war, and the military wasn t
having the success that he had envisioned. President Abraham Lincoln was under immense pressure
to give the military and Northern citizens hope that the war could be won by the Union. On March
4, 1861, Abraham Lincoln was elected as the 16th President of the United States. Southern
politicians assumed that Lincoln would not take steps to abolish slavery immediately, they were
correct, he didn t, but they pondered on whether he would change his mind in the years to come. It
was a well known fact that President Lincoln did not agree with slavery, and the southern states felt
threatened by this. While some southern states opted to secede from the Union, Lincoln, who was

The beginning of theatres was very similar to how they are today. For example, they still had a
large audience watching performing actors who have scripted and learnt a set play. They also had
teared seating as well.
The beginning of theatres was in 500 B.C. and back then going to the theatre was a big event. All of
the women use to get their slaves to do their hair especially nice and choose out the best dress they
owned.
One of the reasons this event was so big was because it was occasional unlike today when we can
book a theatre production all year around, back in 500 B.C you had to wait because the Theatre
group only visited a few days every year.
Another difference was that to go and watch this theatre group ... Show more content on

During the summer of 1851, there was a count of theatres, and there were 19 theatres in London.
Stage managers were introduced. Their jobs were the equivalent of modern day directors and
producers. Because of stage manager, a lot of backstage confusion was stopped and chaos was
reduced.
Who were the audiences?
The theatres were not restricted to certain classes of society. This is because they had improved the
transportation system so the streets were far safer to travel along (especially at night). This meant
that plays could run longer into the night without people having to worry about how they were
going to get home safe. Therefore, theatres produced more money and consequently produced better
plays.
Which plays were performed?
The main type of play was comedy . This was a combination of high and low comedy. Plots based
on coincidence and/or mistaken identities The characters usually puppets of fate. They were
usually unable to get married because they were too poor or too rich. They would also suffer a
loss of identity due to an accident. Another popular plot was where twins were separated and then
they are unaware as to their double.
Some of the techniques used as well were:

Inevitable Events In Ancient Greece Essay
The events that factored in Ancient Greece s downfall were inevitable in the sense that some of the
events were destined to happen. Though a few of the events could have been avoidable like the city
states and their function as a nation. Each city state acted as a separate, independent country, which
did not bring unity to Greece, instead it made Greece too vulnerable. These differences of the city
states eventually led to wars that drastically changed the nation such as the Persian and
Peloponnesian Wars, which both involved the two most infamous city states, Sparta, and Athens.
The inevitable event, that factored in Ancient Greeces downfall, was Alexander the Great s death.

Each of the prosperous cities obtained its own government system, which made the cities like
individual countries. These cities are known as city states or polis . There was not a definite
government system in these city states. Some city states had a democracy, but others had a
monarchy, or aristocracy (Mavommatis). The city states were constantly at odds with each other
because they would abuse and take for granted one another s resources such as; stealing goods and
taking it to one s homeland without ever paying for it (Mavommatis). Two of the most notorious
city states, which both were vastly different, were Sparta and Athens (O Connell 41 43). For
example, in an article written by Panayiotis P. Mavommatis, Mavommatis described the two city
states by pointing out education was mostly about philosophy and arts in Athens, and solely
military in Sparta (Mavommatis). Athens started off as a monarchy, changed to an aristocracy then
later changed to a direct democracy. Athens democracy system had an elected council of 500 men.
Common citizens could vote only if they were part eighteen years of age, and were male. Men that

Constitutional Democratic Republic Political Change
Next, a constitutional democratic republic facilitates political change and progress. This is a
predominant attribute surrounding a government, as without it, no wrong can be solved or ailment
corrected. The American Suffrage movement is an impeccable example of political change being a
necessity in order to grant women suffrage. Due to the availability and mercurial nature of a
constitutional democratic republic, even massive alterations such as granting suffrage to a group of
citizens is possible. Without this allowance for political change and social progress women would
most likely not be allowed to vote. Thus, the 19th amendment is a visible demonstration of this
allowance for political change even under extreme circumstances (Constitution).... Show more

This hinders the establishment of a one party states, such as demonstrated in China, North Korea,
Cuba, Laos, Vietnam, and Eritrea. One party states remove the ability of citizens to think for
themselves, independent from the ideas of the government. It also limits a citizen s ability to
project their opinion as there is only a singular party as an option. This party is the preference of
the government and often times has the government s sustainability as the paramount concern
(Gale). Yet, a multi party/dual party state allows for a broader scheme of citizens opinions and
preferences to be incorporated into the government. As well, the re election cycle every four
years, allows for the possibility of a new party to take the presidency, giving a refresh on mass
opinion, and making sure the democratic preference has the presidential seat. This idea of a re
election cycle is also seen in the Senate, the Supreme Court and Gubernatorial positions. Thus,
these frequent modifications to our nation s leadership allow for a much needed availability for
political change and progress in new

The Importance Of Soil And Evaluation Of Taxonomic Evidence
Introduction
Using an object centred approach this narrative will attempt to go beyond the subject s simple
classification of a red figured Stamnos (The British Museum, n.d) . Analysis of function, status and
meaning of this Stamnos provide evidence of how it has changed over time. This is further
achieved by examining the production, consumption and afterlife of Attic pottery (Hughes et al.,
2014, p.60) .
Production
To begin, an intrinsic measure of soil and evaluation of taxonomic evidence identifies this Stamnos
as between 450BC 440BC of Athenian provenance. Raw material excavated from a clay bed then
transported to the Kerameikos (Wiley Online Library, 2012) became divided into component
quantities. For decoration a portion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Attic vases gained their distinctive red and black colours from this method of firing, presenting a
genre known as red figure painting (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) . Consequently, in black figure
painting the colours are reversed. Often, the addition of White paint distinguished females, who
were otherwise underrepresented in often misogynistic evidence from ancient Greek literature.
Consumption
Meanwhile, assiduous ethnography (Harrison et al., 2014, p.14) provides evidence of the
consumption habits of Ancient Greeks. High end pottery, designed to promote the owners status,
included the addition of precious metals. Society s elite paradigm of leisure included boisterous
drinking games (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) . This Stamnos functioned as a vessel for mixing wine
enjoyed by heavy drinking Greeks who seldom enjoyed their wine neat . The average Ancient Greek
pursuing a life of temperance regarded Attic pottery as affordable, functional, multipurpose
containers for everyday domestic use (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) . Proclivities towards Attic pottery,
particularly through marriage and funeral ceremonies (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) maintained the
Ancient Greek s piety. Mythical narratives within Attic pottery appealed greatly not only to modern
collectors but to Romans and Etruscans before them. An example of this appears on this Stamnos,
in the form of the iconography upon the warrior s shield.

Analysis Of The Book Flavio s Home
In life there will always be those moments that we most value and those that we wish to avoid.
Misfortunes are the situations or events that we wish to vanish from our lives because we view
them in a negative way. However, what many choose to avoid is actually something that defines
who we are. Misfortunes develop one s characterand it identifies us as a person. Everyone goes
through different situations and because of that each and every person develops their own unique
character based on those misfortunes. The essays Flavio s Home by Gordon Parks, What I ve
Learned From Men by Barbara Ehrenreich, and Common Decency by Susan Jacoby all explain to
us in detail the situation that a particular person is going through which in the end reveals how the
person s character was developed by that misfortune.
Flavio s Home by Gordon Parks is an essay full of emotions for Flavio Da Silva, the main
character of the story. Flavio lives in extreme poverty and he serves as a leader for his younger
brothers and sisters. The author emphasizes the horrible conditions in which Flavio and his
family live in by stating phrases like, The floor, rotting under layers of grease and dirt, caught
shafts of light slanting down through spaces in the roof. A large hole in the far corner served as a
toilet (para. 6). As we can see the conditions in which this young man and his family live are
atrocious. The misfortune for Flavio is just that, he lives a life that no could ever imagine living.

Socioeconomic Status And Mental Health
Does one s socioeconomic status affect their mental health? Mental health is a broad category that
refers to our mental well being. Mental illness refers to many different conditions that impact our
mood, our emotions, our thinking, and our affect. Depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia are all
examples of mental healthconditions. Socioeconomic status (SES) is a term that social scientists
use to capture many different factors. It refers to a person s income level, education, and general
position in society. It s essentially a combined measure of how we re doing. Lower socioeconomic
status is related to higher levels of mental illness. This is known as a negative correlation in
research terms. In other words, as one variable increases, the other decreases. In this case, as SES
decreases, the incidence of mental health issues generally increases. Socioeconomic status (SES) is
evaluated as a combination of factors, including income, level of education, and occupation. It is a
way of looking at how individuals or families fit into society using economic and social measures.
Likewise, according to Psychiatry.org, mental illnesses are health conditions involving changes in
thinking, emotion or behavior, or a combination of these. Mental illnesses are associated with
distress and/or problems functioning in social, work or family activities. Mental health is the
foundation for thinking, communication, learning, resilience and self esteem. Mental health is also

The Science Of The Earth Essay
Introduction
The science that is connected with planet earth encompasses geosciences or earth science among
others. Containing old histories, this is considered as a part of planetary science while it possesses
holistic and reductionist approaches in the science of the planet Earth. This discipline can cope with
lithosphere, atmosphere, biosphere or hydrosphere. Quantitative understanding has been developed
by the scientists to understand the ground systems with the tools by mathematics, physics,
chronology, biology, chemistry alike that help to know how the universe is evolved.
Deliberations
According to a news release from NASA, coronal mass ejections caused by geomagnetic storms
have been enhanced in strength; as from G1 to G5, they were rated G3 in 2012. The earth planet is
surrounded and by bubbles of magnetic fields while rapid changes in the earth magnetosphere were
witnessed due to activities that happened on sun that caused a geomagnetic storm. With earth s
magnetic fields, coronal mass ejections were mingled; as a result, the wind became mild in
intensity reported in the month of March in the corresponding year (Philips, 2009).
On the other hand, the geomagnetic storms have been intensified and enhanced in their frequency
as magnetic fields of coronal mass ejections indulges with that of the earth that causes change of
direction and leave more radiation and magnetic energy into the environment of the planet earth.

George W. Bush s `` Fascist America `` And 10 Easy Steps...
Imagine one morning, waking up and realizing that the country you used to know as the land of
the free, was not free anymore. That your freedom of speech had been stripped away a long time
ago. Imagine realizing that your right to vote and the right to have a say in the government had
been gradually replaced by a dictatorship, and you were just now noticing it. In the 2007 article,
Fascist America, in 10 Easy Steps Naomi Wolf argues that the Bush administration had begun to
implement the ten steps to take down a democratic nation. The article addresses the ten steps that

The overall threat is usually spun so that a majority of the citizens experience the fear it is meant
to create. A big part of creating this fear is deciding on what words to use when presenting the
enemy to the public. The language used to convey the nature of the threat is different in a
country such as Spain than it is in America (Wolf). For example, the citizens of Spain are told
that there is a grave security threat whereas American citizens are lead to believe, that we are
potentially threatened with the end of civilization. Of course, this makes us [Americans] more
willing to accept restrictions on our freedoms (Wolf). The tactic of using different words to feed
off larger fears of the public allows the leader to control a larger majority. It also allows them to
exaggerate the fears of the nation by using more frightening and drastic words.
Trump terrifies people into supporting him by preaching the horrors of the world and then
promising them protection from the violence. (Donald Trump s Campaign of Fear) This fear tactic
has been used by many dictators in the past, because it is so easily enacted. The leader presents an
immediate danger to the public and then promises safety to whoever promises to support them.
Most of the time a majority of the public supports the leader; they trade their discontent for the
promise of safety. This willingness to give up something as important as your say in the
government, for the feeling of safety, is a

Dangerous Places In Virginia
Places of Danger
There happen to be many dangerous places in Virginia one including Richmond, a place many
teens happen to go on the weekend for activities like shopping for example. Also occasionally
teens go to Newport News to the mall, and both Richmond and Newport News are very crowded
and not well monitored areas due to all the people. Every person is able to have damage done to
them, but females are more susceptible to assaults, kidnapping, and robbery. There happen to be
many types of crime, but there will only be a focus on murder, assault, and property damage. If
places were monitored better with more help for victims and their families, then the crime rate
would not be as high due to the attackers getting incarcerated, also if people had self control then
the crime rate would not be as high. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In India, women entrepreneurs constitute a negligible proportion of the total entrepreneurs. the
typical enterprises are the extension of kitchen activities i.e. the 3 P s: Pickle, Powder, Papped or
traditional cottage industries of basket making etc. in India women have contributed mainly in
household industries due to less technical know how required and little competition from men in
these industries.
In recent survey of business women in Delhi and surrounding areas it was estimated that 40% of
these entrepreneurs have ventured into non traditional areas such as electronics, engineering,
consultancy etc.
The state of Kerla where the literacy among women is highest in India provides a good example of
women entrepreneurship. As on march 1984, there were 782 women s industrial units in Kerla, of

Tariff Of The Agreement And Wto Claim That Reduction Of...
To start with, the supporters of the agreement and WTO claim that reduction of trade barriers
mainly aims to promote a trade, hence increase in development. In fact, because of the specific
nature of the services, GATS has strong linkages with regulation issues (Kirkpatric and Parker,
2002). Both, WTO and national governments agree that harmonization of policies should be
implemented in a way that protects states rights (Jung, 2013). In the preamble of GATS is clearly
stated that agreement respects members sovereignty and recognize their right to regulate in
domestic policies: Recognizing the right of Members to regulate, and to introduce new regulations,

However, the modern international regime does not prevail over states rights to regulate (Jung,
2013). In fact, WTO does not impose Member States to adopt precisely same policies and leaves
enough space for domestic regulation (Jung, 2013). Adlung (2010) emphasizes that every single
rule at the WTO is being agreed by consensus and support of all Member States. Therefore,
sufficient scope for states sovereignty in domestic regulations is preserved, thus, national
governments are able to decide to what extent they wish to liberalize their service sector and open
frontiers for trade (Suave, 2002; Chanda, 2002). Secondly, another feature of the GATS, which is
often being discussed is its voluntary nature and flexibility in making commitments. WTO assures
that commitments are being made on a voluntary basis (Walraven, 2006; Suave, 2002). Supporters
of the agreements argue that the GATS impose only manor general commitments. The main
requirement arising from the WTO is that Member States would implement their national policies
with regards to their obligations undertaken under the GATS (Jung, 2013). Also, it is being noted
that commitments are not fixed, it is only legally binding, thus national governments are allowed to
modify it relevant to their regulatory objectives, choose to not make any commitments or withdraw
it in the later stage (Adlung, 2010; Suave, 2002; WTO, 2002). In

  • 2. Voodoo In The New World Michael Ventura and Mark McClain Taylor (1998) argues that voodoo is a shattered religion that was put back together to serve the people of African descents. He further argues that voodoo is not so much Africa in the New World as it is Africa meeting the New World, absorbing it and being absorbed by it, and re forming (p. 178). This quote suggests that the encounter between Africa and the New World is more than mixing old and new religion, but a hybrid of counterhistory. This means that African slaves were able to insert their own religion in a number of ways to counter Western dominance. On the other hand, transnationalism was important to the Haitiand Cuba as many migrant groups were able to influence a specific area of the country ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Video Mapping Essay THE USE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN STAGING LIVE EVENTS In this report I am going to be discussing different types of digital technology, all of which have majorly evolved in recent years, and are always being used in today s events industry. Examples of digital technologies include: video mapping, podcasts, lighting and sounds. In this report I am going to focus on the evolution of video mapping and social media, and how it is used within different types of events. What is Video Mapping? Video mapping is projecting a video onto a 3D object (i.e. a building). It creates an interactive show, which engages the audience. Video mapping has hugely developed in recent years, with new technologies allowing more and more opportunities for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 1960 s, the first ever email was sent, and this was where online social media began to commence. Although the first recognisable social media website was called Six Degrees, and was not created until 1997. This allowed users to design a profile and chat with other users on the site however, two years on, in 1999, the first blogging sites started to become popular, which is what started the social media sites that we know today. This lead to social media exploding in popularity, and next is how social media has evolved. In the early 2000 s, MySpace became increasingly popular and in 2005 YouTube was created. This was a huge advance in technology, as it allowed users an entirely different and new way for people to share videos globally. A year on, Facebook and Twitter were introduced, and are still the most popular social networking websites. After this, many different social media sites began to surface Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram and Spotify, to name a few. Facebook, being the most popular, has over 24 million active users per day, which is 37.5% of the population. The beauty of social media is that users have an environment where they can share posts, photos, videos, and even music to people around the world instantly. Social media is evolving ... • 4. The Science Of Human Physical Activity In Chapter one of our text, Introduction to Kinesiology the Science of Human Physical Activity by Stephan Wallace. We are introduced to three major types of movement, Sportive movement, symbolic movement, and supportive movement. At the basis of all three movements they are very similar although they highlight different attributes of an athlete or a person living an everyday lifestyle. Sportive movement is identified as a skill related physical activity, meaning any competitive activity that has a clear winner or loser. Sportive movement also has the implication that one person can be superior to another in that sport because, their skill level is significantly higher than other teammates. An example would be a varsity football athlete and a college football athlete. What can make the college player superior than a varsity player is that his muscle mass has a higher density, making the hits have a greater force than that of a varsity player. Another possibility that could make the college athlete s performance be superior is the skill level at which they train at. Symbolic movement refers to physical activity that expresses thoughts and feelings through the body; the main emphasis being physical expressiveness (Wallace 2013). This type of movement is seen in the art division, such as dance, music, poetry, literature. With symbolic movement, we are expressing our thoughts; our feelings by using more than just words, we paint a visual picture with our language or our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay about The Cuban Missile Crisis When President John F. Kennedy failed with the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in 1961, the United States started placing fifteen Jupiter intermediate range ballistic missiles (IRBM) near Izmir, Turkey. Even though President Kennedy said that these missiles might have questionable strategic value the Soviet Premier, Nikita Khrushchev, made America aware of his anger and distain regarding Kennedy s decision. Khrushchev believed that these missiles were not only an offense to him, but to his country as well. However, the United States also possessed nuclear submarines which posed an even greater threat than the IRBM s. The Soviet Unioncame to realize that they were extremely outmatched in the area of nuclear weapons and the decision by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The EX COMM committee was unaware of Khrushchev s intentions if an invasion were to take place. Kennedy was, however, determined to take such drastic measures this early on in the conflict and talk of a blockade was in the air. No matter what the United States would do, officials believed that retaliation from the Soviets was inevitable. However, anything other than the use of nuclear weapons was deemed as a smart decision at the time. The decision to invade Cuba was finally thrown out , leaving only two decisions left. An air raid on Cuba could be used which would kill many people and possibly risk nuclear missile launch. The other decision was for a blockade or quarantine to be set up around Cuba to keep incoming missiles and supplies from reaching the coast. A quarantine of Cuba would be carried out and seemed to be the best possible choice, under the circumstances. The decision made by President Kennedy, saved America from nuclear war that day. If the United States had invaded Cuba then the Soviet Union would have a launched an attack, which in turn would have caused America to launch their missiles at Cuba and the Soviet Union. This ultimately would have led to global nuclear warfare and the loss of life would have been substantial. The significance of the decision not to invade Cuba was a life saving one but, other issues during the short thirteen day timeframe would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Comparison Of Jesus Birth In The Gospels Of Matthew And Luke The inclusion of Jesus birth is presented in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, this is where many artists derive their inspiration from while making out visuals for the nativity scene. Some choose to leave certain aspects out or include others that are not at all presented in the writing to either highlight specific themes or to better portray the culture for which the scene is for. The artist Dora Gelsinger decides to incorporate the majority of the details found into her portrayal of the nativity scene. The elements she takes from Matthew are the star of Bethlehem and the three Magi bearing gifts (Mat 2:1 12). The feature of Luke included are Jesuswrapped in clothes and in a manger and the visit of a shepherd; both gospels have the presence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Complexity And Algorithms That Can Take An Impossible... Complexity and Tractability The area of tractability explores problems and algorithms that can take an impossible amount of computation to solve. Tractable problems can be roughly defined as problems that can be solved in a reasonable amount of time, while intractable problems are those which take too long to solve to be useful. Finding solutions to these problems is a key problem in computer science today and has been for many years. It is also important for a computer scientist to recognise intractable problems as it would be a huge waste of time trying to write a program to an intractable problem. It would be better to recognise this and take a different more suitable approach that would save time and effort but also would come up with a valid solution. However there are advantages to making a problem intractable though as when securing things using intractable codes which cannot be hacked into easily. Complexity can be simply defined as a rough estimation of amount of time it takes a particular algorithm to solve a problem. This is not only measured in time but can be expressed as the number of steps taken in order to solve a problem. It is important to be able to measure the complexity of a problem as this can help to indicate how good/effective an algorithm will be and whether it is tractable or not.One of the most popular intractable problems that has been found is the Traveling Salesman problem. This problem represents a salesman who wants to find the shortest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Legality of the NSA Essay After the disclosures by Edward Snowden turned a critical eye to the NSA many people questioned the legality of the acts. The NSA claimed that their work was legal and had prevented many terrorist plots. However, evidence of only four plots was ever found. Even if the acts were founded in law, they still angered large numbers of citizens. Many citizens do not care if the spying is legal, believing that it is morally wrong. Governmentsurveillanceorganizations have grown to be extremely powerful and are capable of accessing large swaths of personal information; these abilities intrude into the private lives of citizens and need to be curtailed. With this information at hand, consumer trust in the companies dropped significantly; most notably overseas where the NSA has fewer restrictions on what information could not be taken about individuals. This is just a dragnet, a collection of basic information on everybody. If they have a suspect, then they are more specific in their search. In a search for possible associates that might provide information about possible plots the NSA can search three jumps , or degrees of separation, from the target. This means that a friend of a friend of a friend of a target can be spied on more so than the usual dragnet approach. This may seem like a relatively small quantity at first, but considering that the average Facebook user has 190 friends, 16% of which are friends with each other, from one subject it is possible that over 5 million individuals can be spied on from one individual. Even a subject having just one friend or associate can result in over 26 thousand individuals being the subject of spying efforts. Of course, there are more ways to retrieve personal information than just phone records and Facebook profiles. The NSA can access any and all e mail transmissions, the audio and video from services such as Skype, and documents saved on cloud storage services. • 9. Frankenstein s Monster In many books and stories the monster is portrayed as a mysterious, awful, powerful and inhuman creature created for numerous reasons. In one story the monster was created so that the creator could prove that he could make life and be just like God or be a God, in another no one knows the origin of the monster as a fact making the stories merely legions. Additionally, there was even a story about a man who didn t want to feel any empathy for the crimes he committed so he created his own special kind of monster, himself. So, when the movies started to come out and they were missing some of the key details the audience who had never read the books didn t understand the full concept of what they were watching, they didn t understand that the monster on the screen was meant to be more realistic and believable to scare them and make them think that the being on the screen could be real or possible. • 10. Thomas Reflection Kaleb Harriott Bible 10 9/2/2017 Thomas I can relate to Thomas because of these four ways. Thomas was doubtful and worked hard at finding out the truth. He helped out others believe in Jesus even though they have never seen Him. He taught about Jesus to others. And he struggled a lot throughout his life with Jesus. Thomas doubted and so he worked hard at finding out the truth. He always doubted because of his faith, he wanted to see with his own eyes instead of believing what he wanted to see. For example when Jesus was crucified on the cross he was speared in the chest and nailed to the cross from his wrists. When Jesus was resurrected He visited the group of disciples but Thomas wasn t with the group at the time. So when Thomas came to them they told him about the good news but he didn t believe them unless he saw and felt Jesus wounds in his wrists and chest. Jesus then invited Thomas to see Him so he did and Thomas felt his wounds and believed. The way I work hard is my schedule; I have to wake up go to swim practice from 5:00 to 7:00. Then I have to go to school for six hours and do a lot of assignments for each class. After each class they assign homework which usually takes another two hours after school. Then I have to go to swim practice again for another two hours. When I m finished with practice I have to go eat dinner, then I go home around 8:00 8:30. I have to do my homework which takes forever and go to bed late and wake up early the next morning for practice. It s hard to do mostly because of the amount of school work we have. When I have to wake up for practice it makes it even harder because I put in all my effort and end up tired before school and makes it harder to concentrate. Then after school I have to practice really hard again, and by the time I get home I m exhausted and just want to go to sleep, but I have to stay up and do a lot of homework. I keep doubting that I won t be able to get my work done on time or work hard at practice. I just try to do my best at either my school work or swimming no matter what. Thomas was an inquisitive man. Thomas curious mind led him to doubt God s work in the world, but also led him to discover answers to his questions, which led him to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Aaron The Odyssey Aaron is the priest that helps the Israelites create the idol they so desire, it is interesting that as a worshiper of God he quick to give into their demand. Possibly Aaron is equally as frightened as the people since Moses takes forty days and forty nights to return to them and at this point they are getting restless, or perhaps he would take this as an opportunity to seize more power. With Moses gone and the people doubting his return, a creation of a new god would allow the creator to wield an incredibly large amount of power, getting close to the amount that Moses himself has. The creator could insert themselves as the new chosen prophet, and attempt to take over through his godly right. Regardless of Aaron s motive to make the Golden ... Romulus knew that a new city like his couldn t survive without women to increase the population, and that they quickly need more. After appeals to the neighboring cities with no avail, he decided that if they would not come, he would take them by force. His solution for this is to set a trap for the Sabine women, a festival was announced and people from neighboring cities were invited. Once they arrived, the women were carried off to be married to the men of the city; subsequently the Sabine s reacted and prepared for war against Rome to retrieve their stolen women. War ensued but eventually the Sabine s and Rome came to an agreement and later ruled together. This kidnap and rape of the Sabine women falls under the armed actions that Machiavelli finds appropriate for a new king. In order for their people to survive certain measures should be taken, and he believes that the most affective ones are done with force. With the Mel Temp dial set between 3 and 4, the temperature increased at a steady rate of approximately 2В° C per minute from a plateau set at 90В° C. The first appearance of liquid occurred at 119В° C, and the benzoic acid completely melted by 122В° C giving a melting point range of 119В° C to 122В° C for benzoic acid. This physical constant can help identify a substance. Generally, any impurity added to a pure substance will lower its observed melting point and increase the range over which melting occurs. Therefore, when two pure organic substances possess a similar melting point, a mixture containing both substances will often melt at a lower temperature and over a broader range. Conversely, if a mixture of a known and unknown substance actually contains a single substance, the melting point of the mixture will not deviate from the melting point of the known. Davis (1913) demonstrated that pairs of substances with similar melting points melted at lower temperatures and over broader melting ranges when mixed. Since the separation and purification of a compound from food or excretions often leaves toxicologists with very little material to examine, Davis (1913) recommended the use of melting point and mixed melting point data for ... • 13. Symptoms And Treatment Of Psychiatric Illnesses Introduction Psychiatric illnesses affected heavily almost every country of the world. Billions of dollars are put to research on psychiatric disorders every year. Although from time to time new methods of treatment are followed by researchers. However the results and the efficiency of treatment are almost bleak. In brain sciences the problems which we start with before hundred years are almost as such and with psychiatry it becomes more compounded. We are not yet able to control the psychiatric problems even with 21st century advances in the medical science. From time to time the scientists use multiple approaches in understanding the puzzles in relation to the brain and its functions. Though we make a small progress towards understanding or close to understanding such puzzles. However close analysis shows that we are still far away from understanding some basic rules which the brain used throughout its functions. There must lies a void in our understanding of the brain and its functioning. Though brain is highly complex organ it also works through complex processes and mechanisms. There is the exigent need to help understand the mysteries of the brain science and its functioning. There is a need to help solve brain mysteries through multiple perspectives. • 14. The Bible Is Full Of Wisdom And Folly The Bible is full of wisdom and folly. This essay will evaluate the concepts of diligent people in Hebrew wisdom being wise, while the lazy person is a fool. The major part of the essay will concentrate in Proverbs, but we will review some scriptures from Ecclesiastes. Proverbs was written by Solomon, and he wrote it out of concern for his children. Ecclesiastes is said to have been written by Solomon, but this is not certain. Both books can be used by all for guidance, regardless of their age. Proverbs in general concentrates on moral virtues, and the opposite, their vices. The main theme of the book is the fear of the Lord, as it is seen fourteen times in Proverbs. Ecclesiastes main theme is life without God is empty, pointlessness and without meaning. There are a lot of contrasting chapters and verses comparing the differences between being wise and foolish, the wicked and righteous and the lazy and hardworking. Both books mainly concentrate on the contrasts between evil and good and foolishness and wisdom. So, let s look at some verses and relate the concepts, describe and compare them to being diligent (wise) or laziness (foolish). In Proverbs 15:19 it says The way of a sluggard is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is a level highway (ESV). This saying corroborates the points of Proverbs concerning the directives that diligence is the way of the wise and the path with less resistance. There are two elements that could affect the buyer s power. One is buyer s level of negotiation; the other is buyer s price sensitivity. In our case, the two companies are producing coal and uranium. These two products are mainly used for producing electricity. Buyers for these natural resources must have large quantity of demand, and also they usually have government behind them for negotiation. One major competition for mining industry is the competition for resources and mines, which is different from other industries. Since the resources are limited and unrenewable, together with the continues increasing demand for energy, such as coal demand of China and India, the battle of exploiting and developing new mines are intensive. Also, there are many competitors in the industry. However, since the exit barriers are high, the competition is limited within the existing companies. Companies in the industry might battle for larger market share but facing little threat of new entries. Thus, the competition in the industry is concluded as medium to high. 1.4 Threat of new entrants: New entrants may pose a threat to the company by introducing new innovative products at a competitive prices and eating into their market share and customer loyalty. The threat of entry for the coal and uranium industry tends to be low due to high entry barriers. In less than a year after that, I found myself speeding in a Humvee on a dirt road in Habbiniyah, Iraq, just a mile of the Euphrates River. Our mission was to assist a Marine Reconnaissance unit in securing insurgent weapon caches. I could feel the adrenaline rushing through my veins, as I was ready to tackle my first major op. My truck, along with another, responded to the recon unit when they radioed for help to load a weapons cache. As we sped over to the site, an IED exploded and ripped apart the engine of the following truck. The vehicle contained my squad leader, two marines, and our squad s only medic. As a combat lifesaver (CLS), my secondary mission kicked in. My instincts were to assess the casualties, triage, and treat the wounded. We were fortunate they only suffered concussions, with the gunner having minor lacerations to the face. After dressing the wound, a MEDEVAC was secured to transport them back to base. Within minutes of the helicopter leaving, another explosion was heard where the cache was located. We rushed to the scene, only to see a truck engulfed in flames. When I reached the casualty collection point, I was updated on what occurred. The truck hit a landmine as they were backing onto the road, injuring everyone near the vehicle. Most of the passengers got out, but one was unconscious and trapped inside. Much to my dismay, the Marine was my team leader. I fought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the text book, terrorism is defined as a systematic attempt to inspire fear to gain political ends, typically involving the indiscriminate use of violence against noncombatants. Terrorist attacks is definately not new to the U.S. In 2001, al Qaeda lauched an attack on New York s World Trade Center. The attack killed thousands of Americans, and put the country in a state of panic and scare. One reason for this attack was that Islamics were angered that the U.S had troops on the soil of Saudi Arabia, which was regarded as sacred. Groups such as al Qaeda are extremely violent, and will not be negotiated with for peace. Recently, we have had several terrorist attacks including the Boston Marathon bombing, Muslim shooting at Fort Hood, and ISIS attacks on soldiers and journalists. Recently, attacks from domestic islamists are a major concern for the U.S. These individuals are self radicalized through beliefs and the internet, rather than being a part of a group. Farook and Malik, of the San Bernardino attacks, are examples of this. In my opinion, terrorism is a huge concern for all of the people of our country. I think the United States needs to have better background checks and investigations on immigrants before letting them into our country, and we need to have better online and phone security from the government so they can weed out threatening individuals that are already in the U.S. Without more security, organizations like ISIS or self radicals may extremely harm our country and kill many of the people in ... The accuracy of sonography varies based on the skills of the individual performing the procedure, but with a experienced and qualified radiologist, US can be an appropriate first choice in diagnosing acute appendicitis, especially for pregnant women. Therefore, sonography is an accurate tool in diagnosing AA during pregnancy and when performed by a qualified and experienced radiologist. However, CT is often more precise and accurate in many cases, so it should be used when the US has equivocal findings. In most studies, ultrasound sensitivity and specificity were comparable to CT, which is often viewed as a more accurate method but sometimes avoided due to possible harmful ionizing radiation used in the procedure. The use of CT with US is the most accurate technique in diagnosing acute appendicitis since US has certain advantages over CT that can improve diagnostic accuracy. US should be the first method used to investigate AA because it is quick, non invasive, and keeps the patient safe from radiation. The ability to do this is not something I have always had but rather something I have learned over time with the help of therapist and determination to learn to become a better communicator and more differentiated self. Being a middle child I found myself in the role of the pleaser, the child who was easy going, did not cause any conflict, was quiet and shy and did not demand much attention from parents but would receive some attention by doing something that pleased my parents. This role continued through high school and into my marriage where I thought it was my fault if my husband was upset or mad about something. In the case of short series production, Manufacturing Execution Systems join the cyber physical part of production with virtual manufacturing services and business level operations. Unfortunately, most of the existing architectures follow the paradigm of hierarchical MES placed between the control systems and business application level. They have fixed interfaces to production facilities and a predefined set of services. The main argument in favour of such a solution is the global optimisation of manufacturing operations but in the case of highly dynamic, short series production, it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The traditional design of manufacturing control systems does not allow for rapidly expanding options in materials, processes, interfaces to product models that have a number of variants. Holons allow the implementation of production variants and the rapid reconfiguration of the machines and robots. Proposed MES architecture supports the capability of production systems. Demand chain management will allow for a significant reduction in waste and will increase the profitability of production systems. Flexible production planning will effect in reducing the setup and changeover time and costs. The strategic target of proposed MES solution is one piece flow production that means the feasibility of short series production (up to one element) by using the production lines designed formerly for mass manufacturing. Like all industrial solutions, the proposed MES also has to fit the existing standards accepted by industry. The authors define an MES functional model that complies with the third part of the widely accepted ANSI/ISA 95 (IEC/ISO 62264) standard. Since ISA95 represents a hierarchical vision of MES, this model has been adapted to the heterarchical agent based architecture. ISA 95 defines the workflow and information exchange for Manufacturing Operations Management. • 35. Essay on The Epic of Gilgamesh on Immortality and Its... As long as humans have lived and died, we have strived to know the meaning of life. We assume that there is a meaning or importance to life, and in doing so try to provide some permanence to our existence so that a greater machine might continue to function. It is only natural, then, for us to be interested in the concept of immortality. If there is purpose to an ending life, a life that does not end must be supremely important. This idea is exemplified throughout time in stories both historical and fictional. The Epic of Gilgameshis one such story. Gilgamesh deals with immortality on nearly every level, and at the same time points back to mortality, trying to extract a reason for living and dying. Ostensively, The Epic of Gilgamesh... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the Bull of Heaven is sent to Uruk from the gods, Gilgamesh and Enkidu slay it quickly by stabbing a sword into the Bull s neck (Gilgamesh 82). If the Bull of Heaven is a god, then clearly the gods can be killed. The Bull of Heaven also seems to be a guardian of sorts for the gods, which implies the gods need protection. Later the story describes a flood weapon that gods are actually fearful of (Gilgamesh 113), perhaps because it could bring about their death. This all makes an interesting distinction between immortality and invincibility В– although life might continue forever if left alone, it is not necessarily incapable of being stopped. And the spiritual life seems to continue for humans when the physical life ends. Enkidu talks about being taken to a horrible afterlife: He seized me, drove me down toВ… the house where those who stay are deprived of light, where dust is their food, and clay their bread. (Gilgamesh 89). Thus, while humans might be able to obtain spiritual immortality, it will only be a state of suffering, which reflects back to the negativity of seeking immortality in life. Gilgamesh also deals with perpetual life by symbolically demonstrating death and rebirth. Enkidu, after having intercourse with the prostitute Shamhat, is rejected by the animal kingdom that was his home (Gilgamesh 55 56). At this moment, Enkidu s life as an animal ends, but his life continues as a human. Similarly, the snake that steals Gilgamesh s plant of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast The Satisfaction Theory Of Atonement The premise of the whole Christian faith is that Christ died for humanity s sin but there is debate amongst why his sacrifice did this. The disagreement in the exact way atonement was achieved by death on the cross are seen in the multiple different theories. Christus Victor states that Jesus Defeated the devil and evil at the cross, making his victory humanity s satisfaction. The Satisfaction theory argues that Jesusdeath payed a debt owed thus making the satisfaction of the debt humanity s victory. The original author of the Satisfaction theory, St. Anslem of Canterbury, was known as a unifier because when he came into his bishop position in Canterbury there was great division in the community between the monks. According to R.W. Southern, there were two different groups of monks at the cathedral and because of it the community was still bitterly divided when he arrived, and Anselm was quite simply the only person who could heal the division, and he knew it (Southern, 2009, pg. 52). In his mission to unify, Anslem probably sought to bring the focus of Christians to the idea that Jesus satisfied humanity s sin and away from disunity. The resurrection and ascension is significant in this theory because if death is the payment for this sins committed. In the beginning of the Civil War, although, the Union possessed a larger, better equipped army, the Confederacy managed to secure victories on the battlefield. The war, which was thought to be a short one, lasted longer than expected. President Lincoln was quoted in 1862 about the Union s war efforts, saying, the bottom was out of the tub (Mast). President Abraham Lincoln was under immense pressure to give the military and Northern citizens hope that the war could be won by the Union. On March 4, 1861, Abraham Lincoln was elected as the 16th President of the United States. Southern politicians assumed that Lincoln would not take steps to abolish slavery immediately, they were correct, he didn t, but they pondered on whether he would change his mind in the years to come. This is a predominant attribute surrounding a government, as without it, no wrong can be solved or ailment corrected. Due to the availability and mercurial nature of a constitutional democratic republic, even massive alterations such as granting suffrage to a group of citizens is possible. Consumption Meanwhile, assiduous ethnography (Harrison et al., 2014, p.14) provides evidence of the consumption habits of Ancient Greeks. High end pottery, designed to promote the owners status, included the addition of precious metals. Society s elite paradigm of leisure included boisterous drinking games (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) . This Stamnos functioned as a vessel for mixing wine enjoyed by heavy drinking Greeks who seldom enjoyed their wine neat . The average Ancient Greek pursuing a life of temperance regarded Attic pottery as affordable, functional, multipurpose containers for everyday domestic use (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) . Proclivities towards Attic pottery, particularly through marriage and funeral ceremonies (Hughes et al., 2014, p.92) maintained the Ancient Greek s piety. To start with, the supporters of the agreement and WTO claim that reduction of trade barriers mainly aims to promote a trade, hence increase in development. In fact, because of the specific nature of the services, GATS has strong linkages with regulation issues (Kirkpatric and Parker, 2002).
