1. Definition Essays Topics
Writing an essay on the topic of "Definition Essays Topics" can present both challenges and
opportunities for exploration. On one hand, the expansive nature of the subject offers a plethora
of potential topics to delve into, allowing for a broad range of definitions and interpretations. On
the other hand, this very abundance can make it difficult to narrow down and select a specific
focus, as the choices may seem overwhelming.
Crafting a definition essay requires a thoughtful approach to not only defining the chosen term
but also presenting a comprehensive understanding that goes beyond a mere dictionary
definition. It demands careful consideration of the term's historical context, cultural significance,
and any evolving meanings. Additionally, one must strive to offer clarity while avoiding overly
simplistic explanations.
Selecting the right topic is crucial, as it sets the tone for the entire essay. A well-chosen term can
spark interest and engage readers, but finding the balance between a topic that is both intriguing
and manageable can be a daunting task.
Moreover, writing a definition essay involves conducting thorough research to gather relevant
information and examples that support the definition provided. This requires time and effort to
sift through various sources and extract the most pertinent details.
Organizing the essay effectively is another challenge. The structure should include a clear
introduction, a body that presents the multifaceted aspects of the chosen term, and a conclusion
that synthesizes the information presented. Achieving coherence and flow throughout the essay
while maintaining a focus on the central theme is a delicate balancing act.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on the topic of "Definition Essays Topics" demands careful
consideration, extensive research, and effective organization. However, navigating through the
complexities of this task can lead to a rewarding exploration of language, culture, and meaning.

2. Persuasive Essay On Music Education
What if there was one activity that could benefit every student in every school across
the nation? An activity that could improve grades and scores on standardized testing?
An activity that would allow students to form lasting friendships? An activity that
would help students become more disciplined and confident?
For years, music classes have been the ugly ducklings of school curriculums, the last
courses to be added, the first courses to be cut. They have always taken second place
to traditional academic classes. Music, however, has proved itself to be extremely
beneficial time and time again, from the undeniable improvement in grades regarding
traditional academic classes to the glowing remarks from music students everywhere.
In an ever changing world, the addition of music education in schools needs to be
next on the academic agenda. Music education should be a required component in all
schools due to the proven academic, social, and personal benefits that it provides.
Music education greatly enhances students understanding and achievement in non
musical subjects. For example, a ten year study, which tracked over 25,000 middle
and high school students, showed that students in music classes receive higher scores
on standardized tests than students with little to no musical involvement. The musical
students scored, on average, sixty three points higher on the verbal section and forty
four points higher on the math sections of the SATs than non music students. When
3. Examples Of Private Prison Vs Private Prisons
Private Prisons v. Public Prisons
Shelby Freel
University of Colorado Denver
A private incarceration center is a state or federal jail, detention center, or prison
that has been contracted to a private company. This could either be a pre existing
facility that is contracted to the company or a new facility. The use of private
contractors for prisons and other facilities can be dated back to the beginnings of
American History.
Privatization of prisons around the country has been a controversial topic. The main
use for private prisons is to save the government money, whether that be the state or
federal government. Also, the way inmates are cared for and rehabilitated in private
prisons versus public prisons is an issue of debate. The real question is if it is worth
using private contractors to incarcerate inmates. In theory, private prisons are
supposed to save the government money on prison costs, since the state would no
longer pay for the maintenance of the facility, and its inmates. Private prisons are
charged a monthly per diem for the inmates it contains. An example of how private
institutions cut corners on costs, is these facilities typically hire non union labor to
save on labor costs, Private firms typically use non union labor, allowing for the
lowest benefit packages (Austin Coventry, 2001, p. 26). These prisons claim that they
save ten to twenty percent on labor costs because of this shortcut. Studies in Arizona
have shown that the cost of

What Home Schooling Really Is
The educational thesaurus defines home schooling as provision of compulsory
education in the home as an alternative to traditional public/private schooling often
motivated by parental desire to exclude their children from the traditional school
environment (ERIC [EBSCO]). Home schooling is also defined by The Well Trained
Mind website as Home schooling occurs when parents take charge of their children s
education organizing subjects, teaching lessons or arranging for tutors, evaluating
progress, and supervising social contacts. Home school parents believe that one on

Old Schoolhouse Magazine states that the average home schooler s SAT scoreis 1100,
80 points higher than the average score for the rest of the population. This kind of
increase over the population should raise some eyebrows and have people
questioning, what are home schoolers doing that my child isn t doing or what is a
home schooled child being taught that my child is not being taught. The boost in
academic excellence over the rest of the population may explain the recent statistics
given by the Census Bureau. The Census Bureau estimates that some 30 million
children could eventually stay home to learn. Why is it that the popularity of home
schooling is increasing at such a rapid rate? What are the key benefits of home
schooling your child?
Pros and Cons of Home Schooling
Many parents see many benefits in home schooling their children. A variety of
reasons are used when parents decide to home school their children. Home School
World Magazine outlines some of the benefits of home schooling your child. These
benefits include: safety benefits, less exposure to alcohol and drugs, emotional
benefits, Ritalin free kids, removes sexual pressure, builds family bonds, better
preparation for the real world and best environment for spiritual training (Online
Article Database, P. 1). This list of benefits is probably among the deciding factors
that parents establish when they decide to home school

Nature of Suffering in Buddhism and Christianity
Suffering is a component of many religions. The nature and purpose of suffering is
different in Buddhism from Christianity. Christianity has many examples of suffering
from the sins we commit, and the original sin that we are born with. Suffering is also
deeply embedded in Buddhism. One of the Three Marks of Existence in Buddhism is
Dukkha which translates to suffering. Christianity s most obvious examples of
suffering are divided into two different categories, mortal and venial sins. Venial sins
are not as serious, while mortal sins are very serious. Both types of sins can

Hearing Disorders and Living with Hearing Loss Hearing loss affects twenty
percent of Americans in the world today and is the third most common medical
problem in the United States. It does not play favorites for any age, color, or
gender. Hearing loss can occur at any age, from birth due to toxic conditions or
heredity, in childhood because of diseases, from accidents or noise damage and age
related. With today s technology diagnosing and treating hearing loss has made
huge improvements in the past few decades. Recognizing symptoms and seeking
early diagnosis is the key to finding the treatment that is right for the individual with
hearing loss. Some of the leading causes of hearing loss in adults are twenty eight
percent aging and twenty three percent noises. In research discovered in the book

New inventions of hearing devices have made the quality of life better for those
with a hearing impairment. Hearing aids are one of these treatments. Hearing aids
will provide the ability to hear high pitched sounds, and they may help function in
social situations, but soft sounds will still be very difficult to hear. Hearing aids
will help with hearing, but there will still be some hearing loss. A hearing aid will
not help with lost hair cells, so a cochlear implant may be used. A cochlear implant
is surgically implanted. Not everyone qualifies for cochlear implants. Some of the
requirements are being severely to profoundly deaf, experience no significant
benefit from hearing aids, and be at least two years of age. Other minor devices to
help with hearing loss are visual alarms, vibrator alarms, and phone ring alternatives.
Even with these devices dizziness and problems with balance may still be
7. Setting And Symbolism In The Piano Lesson By August
Wilson
A haunting of the past
In August Wilson s play, The piano lesson, the author takes his readers on a journey
through the life of the Charles family. Sister and brother battle each other over a
piano that tells their family s history. Through examining their history, Wilson uses
setting and symbolism to convey his personal belief in the importance of one s
ancestral family roots and the significant impact it has in a person s everyday life.
The author uses setting to introduce the significance in the ancestry of the Charles
family and further examine the troubling state of the current generation. Wilson
grew up in a non wealthy colored district in which he set most of his plays (Fisher,
James), so there is no surprise that Wilson s play has black roots that are relatable to
his past ,also acting as salute to people of color (Gantt, Patricia). His strong
connection to African American roots are why censors ,who have criticized
Wilsons work, applaud him on his capability to make interesting characters and pull
from African American folklore (Bloom, Harold), and in doing so, he shared much
of his native craft and technique (Tracie, Guzzio). A man owns the Charles family,
whose grandparents had ownership of his grandparents, and he happens to also be
man who held the title of Robert Stutter (Bryer, Jackson R., and Mary C. Hartig,
Wilson 1.2.8). In the play, a major flashback occurs on a slave plantation where the
older Charles family must to pick cotton (2.1.7). The setting is critical to the family
when it comes to the readers understanding of the present Charles s past, as their
grandparents were slaves which in turn made life for the future generations a lot
harder. Although Bernice lives in Pittsburgh (1.1.5), it is still hard for colored people
to make a living and buy food from white only markets, so instead, their parents teach
them things such as how to kill a chicken (2.2.10). Wilson uses setting to show that
even though Bernice lives in a different environment than that of which her family
roots originate, their individualities interrupt and cross within her own (Lise,
Kidergurd), and the physical things, such as her skin color, still affect her present life.
Although Bernice does not wish to
8. Bigger Thomas And Invisible Man
In the twentieth century, Monk encountered different kind of racial invisibility
than Bigger Thomas or Invisible Man did. As an African American he was not
condemned for his skin, nor was he denied rights white folks had. Thelonious
Ellison was acknowledged as an African American citizen and enjoyed the rights of
equality and freedom. Nevertheless, the stereotypical blind thinking and
associations to a black man, have come to light when Monk being a black writer
became invisible to the society when he did not write about typical black life .
However, looking more closely we notice that Monk Ellison was struggling for not
being black enough from the early age of his life. He was invisible to others and he
could not understand why. It seemed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As it was in the case of Bigger Thomas or Invisible Man, they both struggled to find
equality in American society. They fought to be recognized as something more than a
nigger . Nearly 70 years later, Monk an African Americanwriter found himself on
very similar grounds. He too was struggling to be heard and appreciated for what
he did rather than be judged by his skin color. We see that our three protagonists
lead three different lives. We notice that their situations are slightly better as the
years pass. Bigger Thomas in 1930 was not as lucky as we could say Invisible
Man, in 1950, was. He could not go to school; he was unable to see perspectives for
himself. He was reminded of his inferiority everywhere he went, he lived separated
from the white world and was dependent on the goodwill of rich white men.
Invisible Man though did not succeed the way Monk did. Living twenty years after
Thomas, the narrator stood better chances for a decent living, however, it was still
impossible for him to enjoy freedom and equality. In comparison to the previous
two, we can say, Monk was in the best social position. He was highly educated, did
what he liked and desired all his life being a writer, he had got the acceptance as an
African American in the society. In 2001, he was living the life Bigger Thomas and
Invisible Man had dreamed about. What bounded our
9. Analysis of The Complete Maus, by Art Spiegelman
When reading a traditional book, it is up to the reader to imagine the faces and
landscapes that are described within. A well written story will describe the images
clearly so that you can easily picture the details. In Art Spiegelman s The Complete
Maus, the use of the animals in place of the humans offers a rather comical view in
its simplistic relation to the subject and at the same time develops a cryptic mood
within the story. His drawings of living conditions in Auschwitz; expressions on the
faces of people enduring torture, starvation, and despair; his experience with the
mental institution and his mother s suicide; and occasional snapshots of certain
individuals, create a new dynamic between book and reader. By using the form of...

Art shows the obsessive compulsive aspects of Vladek with intensity. As you
listen to Vladek s story, you begin to understand his driving need to keep
everything. Living in an infested prison with little food and drink, he had to learn
to survive. With small tokens from his life before Auschwitz, Art began to make
allies and trade for food and clothing. Teaching English to a guard and acquiring
some basic necessities for survival, as a tinsmith he found people to trade for food
and gave gifts to his Kapo to gain favor and better treatment, he even fixed the
boots of his wife s Kapo and afterwards his wife was no longer treated so poorly.
Vladek had to salvage anything that might be of value to someone else and
eventually was even able to move his wife closer so he could keep an eye on her.
Soon his obsession with saving anything he can get his hands on starts to make
sense. As you take in the story of Auschwitz, there are moments when you realize
how easily he Vladek is telling the story. He describes times when the prisoners are
inspected for health and if they pass they are sent back to the barracks to continue
working and if they are too sick then they are removed from the camp. Art uses the
smokestack to represent those who are taken away and sent to the gas chamber, the
devastating image is chilling and leaves a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach. It is

11. Nature In Frankenstein Research Paper
Throughout the world, nature is looked at as Beautiful! Unique! but it never goes
beyond this. In Frankenstein nature plays a big role in which Mary Shelley illustrates
characters who drives the reader to think about nature in both the outside world and
the human mind. This is shown first through Victor s narration and then the creature.
The creature and Victor are both so fascinated with the sublime landscapes that their
fascination forces them to explore the boundaries of their experiences, leaving
behind reality. Nature plays a very powerful role that negatively and positively
impacts Victor and the creature. Mary Shelley creates a relationship between Victor
and nature in that nature is used as a restorative representative in the book. We

This is significant because Victor was in no shape or in the right mental capacity
to go back to his hometown and visit family due to his relentless work on bringing
the creature to life using nature. So we can imply that on this walk, Victor wants
to believe that nature restored his health and spirits so that he could establish that
nature can positively impact him. This is illustrated again on page fortynine, I
remained two days at Lausanne, in this painful state of mind. I contemplated the
lake: the waters were placid; all around was calm, and the snowy mountains, the
palaces of nature, were not changed. By degrees the calm and heavenly scene
restored me, and I continued my journey towards Geneva. The road ran by the side
of the lake, which became narrower as I approached my native town. I discovered
more distinctly the black sides of Jura, and the bright summit of Mont Blanc. I wept
like a child: Dear mountains! My own beautiful lake! How do you welcome your
wanderer? Your summits are clear; the sky and lake are blue and placid. Is this to
12. Zora Neale Hurston Influence
Many writers allow their personal experiences to influence their writing, but Zora
Neale Hurston used her life to influence others. Hurston took her personal
experience and used it to show impoverished black youth that they can be
successful. The way she was raised influenced her and created a woman who would
pave the way for feminists to be recognized as a respectable group. Hurston had a
way with words that still, to this day, have an affect on youth and will affect future
generations.. Her childhood and her introduction to average American society
developed Hurston into a preacher of equal rights, a teacher of confidence, and a
writer ahead of her time.

Hurston intended to show the beauty and wealth of genuine Negro material as a
response to the stereotyping of black people in literature (Draper 1068 1069). Sykes
is shown as a successful independent black man which was something not seen
often in Hurston s time. Her material mainly focused on black and black relations
over black and white relations. By focusing on the successful side of black life that
she grew up with, Hurston was able to show black youth a potential future for
themselves that they may not have thought possible with their current situation.
Condemning those who oppressed African Americans and defying traditional
norms was Hurston s way of disrupting the social climate of the time (Champion).
In her works, she was able to shine a light on societal problems that she believed
needed fixing. Literature was the only way to fight because as a black woman she
had no other ways to fight without incarceration. Hurston intended to present the
side of black people that many white people did not see, her writings were
important because they...[presented] characters who...[were] undeniably and
realistically human (Draper 1068). Hurston had to provide realistic black
characters in a time that black people were still seen as worthless by many. She
wanted people to understand that white people and black people were just people.
Hurston wrote good characters, not good people, to show that all races of people
had bad eggs. The characters in Sweat were very realistic, whether they be
gossiping on the porch or abusing their wife, they are acting as real people do. They
may not be doing things that are morally right, i.e. being abusive, but that is a fault
in humanity that all races are guilty of. Hurston had seen many different types of
people throughout her life and was able to express these different personalities with
expertise. Knowing how to write a character is just as important as
13. Analysis Of Sunday In The Park
In the short story of Sunday in the Park, the focus of the story is centered on a small
family of three and the events that occurred while enjoying a day in the park. The
husband Morton, his wife, and their small boy Larry, are spending the afternoon day
in the park. Larry, playing in the sandbox with another young boy named Joe, is
threatened when Joe throws sand at him. The events that follow show that a happy
and joyful experience can quickly escalate into one of frustration, disappointmentand
anger, not only internally but against others as well.
Everyday life is filled with events that control how we react and respond to
individuals around us. Positive events such as holding the door open for someone
or helping someone finish a task trigger a response of a thank you . Negative
events such as being honked at or yelled at can sour someone s mood and may
cause grumpiness for a while. This story talks about how the peaceful Sunday
afternoon full of joy, happiness, peace and freedom can change in minutes to a
day full of negative emotions a that can ruin a day. When Larry s mom views her
son having a good time while playing in the sand, she feels content and happy
watching him play. She thinks of how happy the boy is digging and she has a warm
feeling while enjoying the moment. She even thinks they need to do this more often.
We get the feeling that this is a tranquil moment in her life. There is no indication of
how Larry feels towards the other child named Joe in the sandbox, but we can
assume that Larry is indifferent to Joe at the beginning. Joe s actions start a chain of
events that result in an unpleasant day for this family of three.
Joe then throws a scoop of sand at Larry, just barely missing him. Larry s mom, at
first, seems to be a little surprised that this child would do such a thing, and is even
more surprised when the Joe s parent does not reprimand his child for the act. She
finds herself wanting to defend her child and speaks up, telling Joe to stop. When
the other child does it again and actually hits Larry this time with the sand, we begin
to see Larry is upset about it. The mom s first thought was she wanted to let Larry
fight his own battles, but instead reprimands the boy again. This

15. The Wife of His Youth by Charles Chestnut
Title
Author Charles Chestnut was one of the most influential and widely respected
African American fiction writers in the United States. He was the first African
American writer of fiction to enlist in the majority white controlled publishing
industry. Much of his work is based off of his examining probes and indictments of
racism. Chestnut expressed his grievances of the integration of African Americans
into white culture in his short stories, novels, and essays. He told most of his stories
from prospective that would not offend, but instead, inform his white readers about
African Americans and how they are defining their identity in America. The question
of identity becomes the focus for American Americans because most of their identity
was lost during slavery. Chestnut s approach to the matter of racial identity has been
seen as ineffective to solving race problems. However, after an analysis of his works
and his overall vow to the African Americancommunity would suggest something
else. One of Chestnut s works in particular The Wife of His Youth, tackles the issue of
African American s mimicking the dominant culture in order to improve their
rankings in society. The Wife of His Youth voices the fears of African Americans
losing their cultural individuality, pride in their heritage, and moral perception by
integrating into the dominant society.
In The Wife of His Youth the biracial protagonist, Mr. Ryder is trying to reinvent his

16. Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese medicine has had a broad history and with it even broader
applications. It has seen use for over twenty five thousand years within China s
borders and is still being used, researched, and refined in modern times.
The concepts of traditional Chinese medicine found it s basis in the philosophy of
Taoism, which focuses on balancing the body with environment to achieve optimum
health and sustainability as opposed to treating illness by itself. The emphasis on
harmony originates from the Taoism concept of Yinyang, which is defined as by the
balance between it s two basic elements where one must contain a bit of the other,
and Wu Xing which encompasses five environmental elements: Water, Fire, Wood,
Earth, and Metal. These elements are used to categorize organs in the body in order
to determine how one organ would interact with another. An example would be if a
Fire heart is overstressed or inflamed , it can be remedied by strengthening the
opposing element of Water in the body through the kidneys in order to rebalance.
Each organ, while performing it s own function, needs to be coordinating with and
complementing other organs. This gave birth to the idea that tracking the functions
of organs in various states, either by themselves or with other organs, could predict
what would cause something to disrupt bodily harmony or the cause of it in the sick.
Because of the holistic nature of traditional Chinese medicine, a very comprehensive
analysis of a person
17. Integrative Approach For Counseling And Its Effects On...
Integrative Approach to Counseling
Key Concepts
The central idea in an integrative approach to counseling is one of a patient s ability
to affect their life through the choices they make. William Glasser suggests most
people s unhappiness stems from the lack of meaningful relationships, and most
relationships are either successful or a disaster based on the choices we make
(Corey, 2013). Patients are able to positively or negatively impact their mental well
being by making choices that deepen their interpersonal relationships.
Expanding on Glasser s ideas, existentialism and the choices it offers, gives an
individual the opportunity to experience freedom. They are no longer tied to a
deterministic view of life, but are instead given license to create the life they wish to
have, unencumbered by the weight of societal, cultural, or familial expectations
(Corey, 2013).
Both choice theory and existentialism closely mirror ideas taught in Protestant
Christianity: people are free to make choices about their behavior and lifestyle, and
all choices have an outcome. That outcome can be positive (salvation), or negative
(damnation). If one believes the rules as explained in the Bible, the outcome of one s
life rests in their choices.
Counselor s role
In most cases, the counselor will best serve their client by taking on a not knowing
role in the relationship, allowing the client to become the expert in their own lives
(Corey, 2013).
The world is becoming more and more

There have been implications on social work practice a result of globalisation. Due
to a greater availability of rapid transport it has become easier to cross borders. This
brings new social problems for the profession such as human trafficking and
migration of asylum seekers and refugees from war torn countries, creating a greater
demand on services. The Commonwealth of Australia report (2007) indicates that
since civil war broke out in Sudan in 1956, nearly two million people have been
displaced and two hundred thousand people have died.
Refugees, asylum seekers and UASC are terms which are often used interchangeably
but have different legal definitions (Ruxton, 1996). For the purpose of this
assignment it is important to differentiate between these terms. A refugeeis a person
owing to a well founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion,
nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, is outside
the country of his nationality, and is unable to or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to
avail himself of the protection of that country... (Article 1 of the United Convention of
Human Rights, 1951). An asylum seeker is a person who has left their country of
origin, has applied for recognition as a refugee in
20. Lincoln First Inaugural Analysis
The article from the book is document No. 5, which is Abraham Lincoln s First
Inaugural on March 4, 1861. The other article is from the Chicago Tribune, and the
title is The Inauguration!: Pacific Induction of Mr. Lincoln to the presidency. This
article was published on March 5, 1861. The basic difference between two articles
is that one talks about what happened the day and night at the senator chamber and
covers Lincoln s Inaugural while the other one only has Lincoln s Inaugural, with
some parts omitted. The similarity is that both articles are related to Lincoln s
inaugural. In the article published on the Chicago Tribune, which is a newspaper, it
talks about what happened ath the Senate chamber the day and the night before
Lincoln s first inaugural. The galleries were filled with people from Indiana,
Vermont, and other places, who came all the way just wish to have a look at the

It talks about how people were eager to see the proceedings, what was the order of
arrangements settled by the Committee, and what happened before the arrival of the
presidential party. The article on the book does not have any description like that of
the article on the newspaper, but it provides some background information of what
kind of situation Abraham Lincoln was facing and a few key points of Lincoln s
speech. The article on the newspaper also has the original Inaugural address while
the article on the book omits the opening of the speech and many parts of the
Inaugural address. One similarity of both articles is that they are both related to
Lincoln s First Inaugural Address. In conclusion, Abraham Lincoln s first inaugural
plays an important part in the American history, his belief in the Union made him a

23. Otto Von Bismarck s Triple Alliance During World War I
The countries of Europe formed various alliances with each other in the years leading
up to World War I, eventually splitting the continent in two. Otto von Bismarck was
instrumental in forming many of these alliances in an attempt to keep the European
Concert together. He was eventually dismissed by Kaiser Wilhelm II, but would still
accurately predict the beginning of the first international war.
Initially, the Triple Alliance was a defensive pact between Germany, Austria Hungary,
and Italy. It guaranteed mutual support in event of an attack by another power. The
Triple Entente, between Britain, Russia, France, was a treaty in direct response to
the Triple Alliance. It was a series of mutual defense pacts that was to stay in place
for the duration of the Triple Alliance. If a member of the Triple Alliance attacked a
member of the Triple Entente, the members of the Triple Entente could attack the
aggressor and the allies of the aggressor once they attacked. Going back a bit, Otto
von Bismarck s greatest diplomatic achievement, the Reinsurance Treaty, was a treaty
between Germany Russia guaranteeing they would remain neutral in a war unless

The Triple Alliance was initially a strength, offering protection to a weak Austro
Hungarian Empire and Italy. However, the fear it generated in countries such as
Russia, Britain, France (future Triple Entente) would lead to turmoil in Europe. The
Reinsurance Treaty was also strong, preventing conflict between the opposing sides
that would go to fight the war to end all wars. When Kaiser Wilhelm II let the
Reinsurance Treaty expire, Germany now had two enemies, one to the east and one
to the west. The Triple Entente of 1907 was intended to increase security between
Britain, Russia, and France. The treaty failed to do this in the end, only heightening
the arms race which would ultimately lead to World War

Benefits and Challenges of E procurement
Introduction
This research study identifies the benefits and challenges to the implementation of E
procurement in the organizations. E procurement is the process of purchasing the
goods or services from various suppliers through the internet. This helps to provides
number of benefits over older manual procurement method by eliminating several
errors. These benefits include reduction of administrative cost, faster transfer of
information, improve communication, and decrease in inventory cost (Matunga,
Nyanamba, Okibo, 2013). In corporate sector, the procurement has been divided into
two section i.e. direct and indirect procurement. Direct procurement involves the
materials that are used in the production of manufactured goods, whereas indirect
procurement deals with the involvement of day to day operations. E procurement
mainly provides more concentration on indirect procurement in contrast to direct
procurement (Kim Shunk, 2004).
E procurement help to provides various benefits, but still the implementation is in
development stage. Since not every business model or e procurement system are
equally stable for supporting different business processes, so companies are

The reason Tennessee was being sued is because Mr. Lane was needed at the
courthouse to face criminal charges, but the courthouse did not have wheelchair
accessibility. Mr. Lane had to crawl on his hands and knees up multiple flights of
stairs just to arrive at his hearing. Another woman by the name of Beverly Jones was
handicapped and worked as a court reporter. Because of her inability to walk up
stairs, Mrs. Jones was not able to attend to numerous court hearings. Mrs. Jones lost
her job and her chance to experience the court process. Justice O Connor as well as
the other four judges who voted alongside her knew that what had happened at the
courthouse in Tennessee was erroneous. The court then ruled that the courthouse in
Tennessee had to accommodate to the needs of handicapped people, which meant
implementing ramps for wheelchairs to use.
Sandra Day O Connor, an influential woman, is an astounding role model for young
women of today s world to look up to. Success was not handed to her, she had to
work her way from the bottom, working but receiving no pay, to the top, Supreme
Court Justice. Her success though will be remembered in history for years to come
because she made a breakthrough. With gratitude and poise, Sandra Day O Connor

27. What Was The Expansion Of The Westward Expansion
The Westward Expansion Transcontinental Railroad
Didn t the traveling time from coast to coast use to take months? Aren t you glad you
don t have to take hazardous and slow wagons currently? During the Industrial
Revolution, many factors contributed to the rapid expansion of the West. Before the
transcontinental railroad was fully completed, the travel time from coast to coast was
costly and took months through very troublesome terrain. Even though there were
several constructive results from inventions, there were also dire consequences. The
improvements made were great but, they came with substantial economic and
political costs. One of these great improvements was the construction of the railroad.
This helped many Americans to travel west in a week instead months. Towns sprung
up all along the railways, increasing the population of the west dramatically.
Why build the transcontinental railroad? Growth of the west coast. The west coast
had an abundance of gold and silver. The trip to the west would become shorter.
Business would rise with the connection of the east and west. The solidification of the
Union would become possible. Last but not least the achievement of the Manifest
Destiny.
The transcontinental railroad is accepted as one of the greatest accomplishments
during the 19th century. In a petition submitted to the U.S. Congress on Jan. 29,
1845, New York merchant Asa Whitney proposed one of the most audacious ventures
in American history: the construction of a railroad from Lake Michigan to the Pacific
Ocean, spanning two thirds of the North American continent. In bold and stirring
words, describing how such a rail network would revolutionize the entire commerce
of the world, Whitney urged the federal government to underwrite the ambitious
project. (Visions of Empire). The Pacific Railroad Act of 1862 was authorized and
passed, the railroad companies began to build a transcontinental railroad. Connecting
over 2,000 miles of land, crossing deserts and mountains. It s an amazing achievement
since it lowered the traveling time to just a few days compared to the months.
After a long six years, the first United States transcontinental railroad was completed.
The ceremony date was on the golden
28. Analysis Of Upton Sinclair s The Flivver King
Flivver King Writing Assignment
Zack Seymour
US 102/ Professor Ward
The Flivver King by Upton Sinclair tackles many social issues that were coming to
be in the early 1900 s. Upton Sinclair used fictional characters in his book to depict
how society viewed the rise of Ford and other enterprises. As a muckraker Sinclair
had meaning behind every character and action in this book. His goal was to expose
corporate enterprises for the crimes (no socialism or unionization) they had been
committing. Based upon his book, Upton Sinclair would have had many answers
why there was no socialism or unionization in the United States. His first answer
would be corporate corruption. Big enterprises at this time only cared about their own
profits not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upton Sinclair felt that our nation at this time needed to establish a strong union
where the workers can actually get help from a stronger organization when going
against the corporations. Sinclair wanted a strong Union to help workers get what
he feels they deserve, instead of terrible jobs. The reason why there is no strong
presence of a labor union in this country is because of the risk that it presented for
workers at the time. In the Flivver King, Henry Ford used thugs and goons to
intimidate people from not bringing the any kind of union into his company.
Upton Sinclair said this in the book, as a beleaguered American socialist in a
society that is generally unsympathetic to the plight of the less fortunate, Sinclair
pondered the question of why Socialism did not gain a foothold in the minds of the
American workers. (Sinclair, Preface viii, xi) This passage shows the mindsets of
the factory workers at the time prevented a chance and at a strong labor union.
Sinclair feels that if the American workforce could have embraced a more socialist
mindset, there could have been some kind of organization to protect them from
being exploited and possibly fired just by mentioning the very idea of trying to start
or join anything like a union. Other issues pointed out by Sinclair were workers
being killed by various factors like poor or unsafe work
29. Animal Sympathy In Animals
Animal sympathy is the ability of animals to form connections and feel the emotions
of other organisms and to sympathize with their owners and their animal counterparts.
Animal sympathy is rarely considered or just investigated among a limited number of
species, such as whales. This is mostly because the humanaspect in the relationship
between man and animalis usually mentioned by the written media as it is more
likely easier to understand by the targeted audience. However, it is also important to
understand the emotional viewpoint of animals, especially those which are an
integral part to human existence and society, as it can help foster a better
understanding in every human being, regardless of whether or not he or she interacts
with animals.
Before the presence of sympathy in animals can be discussed, one should understand
the definition of the concept of sympathy itself. Sympathy is a rather easy concept
to act upon but difficult to decipher accurately. Through sympathy, one might aid a
person in distress for no self benefit but purely due to good nature. According to
philosopher Adam Smith in The Theory of Moral Sentiments, every person on this
Earth has the capability to feel or even automatically be affected by a wave of
sympathy at least once in his or her lifetime. As Smith states, How selfish soever man
may be supposed, there are evidently some principles in his nature, which interest him
in the fortune of others, and render their happiness necessary to him,

Chapter Four: Evaluation
The purpose of this project was to determine if traditional education had a greater
impact on the number of false and non actionable alarms over presenting education in
an online educational format. Evidence supports that alarm fatigue is a nursing
problem that puts patients at risk for ham. Reducing the number of nuisance alarms
decreases the occurrence of alarm fatigue among registered nurses. Evidence also
supports patient harm is lessened when alarm fatigue is reduced (Sendelbach, S.,
Funk, M. 2013). Nurses are ethically obligated to reduce and remove the risk of
patient harm. Patients are at a greater risk for harm when nurse do not appropriately
manage nuisance alarms. Nurses are ethically obligated to reduce this risk of hazard
to patients by following evidence based strategies to reduce these nuisance alarms.
This chapter includes the implementation for this project, and step by step details
will be outlined. The project s results will be discussed as well as the evaluation of
the findings. Also in this chapter, evaluation of the project s design and evaluation of
the project s implementation will be examined.
The project was designed to compare false, non actionable alarms prior to education
on the evidence based strategies to reduce alarm fatigue, after online education and
then again after traditional face to face education. The project included nurses in the
14 bed cardiac intensive care unit, within a 456 bed, not for profit
31. Battle Of The Sexes Analysis
The Battle of the Sexes Sherlock Holmes is the fundamental character of the
wrongdoing/puzzle novel and scene arrangement. Holmes demonstrates the way his
observational aptitudes help him to prevail as an investigator. Holmes is considered
to demonstrate no feeling along these lines, directing him as the machine . Holmes
demonstrates a ton of routes on how he makes sense of the cases he researches. The
viewer can see the connection amongst Adler and Holmes indicates the way they tend
to each other. In the film Holmes demonstrates his character is more observational
than in the story. Holmes communicates his observational abilities and apathetic traits
diversely in A Scandal in Bohemiathan in A Scandal in Belgravia .
The short story A Scandal in Bohemia concentrates on how Irene Adlerbreaks
Sherlock Holmes down. Sherlock Holmes is known for being the most brilliant
individual in the room. Holmes never needs to stress over somebody out hurting
him, until the point when he meets the woman . Everybody knows Holmes to be
the man that knows how to explain any case that is tossed at him, aside from in
this one. In the story, Holmes is procured to make sense of where Adler has the
critical photos covered up. Holmes goes to discover Adler, however discovers she
has been away for some time. Adler leaves a snapshot and letter for Holmes.
Knowing Holmes as the best criminologist ever, he has never been out smarted by
anybody. As Adler being a lady Holmes never anticipated that her mind would have
the capacity to deceive him. Men are customized uniquely in contrast to ladies
which influences Holmes self image to diminish by being incited by a lady, the
best plans of Mr. Sherlock Holmes were beaten by a woman s wit (Doyle; 26).
Holmes is tested by affliction with Adler deceiving him, which then gets him to
crumble. Perusers can tell that Holmes feels like he lost his heart or soul. Watson
says, And when he speaks of Irene Adler, or when he refers to her photograph, it is
always under the honourable title of the woman (26). After him coming up short,
Holmes still alludes to her as the woman rather than Irene Adler. Holmes can t even
mention Alders name which the reader can tell how she has influenced his
32. Anaerobic Respiration In Sports Drinks
Sports drinks are used to rehydrate athletes during and after exercise. However, the
efficiency of these electrolyte drinks has been questioned.
During respiration glucose from food is added to oxygen to form ATP,C02, and
H20. During exercise, glucose and oxygen are used at a much faster rate due to
increased muscle contractions. There are two types of respiration; aerobic and
anaerobic. During aerobic respiration, glucose is added to oxygen to produce
CO2,H20, and 38 ATP molecules. However, during high intensity exercise, the
oxygen supply is less than the demand. Because of this, anaerobic respiration takes
over. This type of respiration can occur without oxygen, however ,it only produces 2
ATP molecules in comparison to 38. In addition... Show more content on

Before exercise, the cell and its surroundings are in an isotonic state. This means that
there is the same amount of water and molecules on both sides of the membrane.
During exercise, water is lost at a faster rate through perspiration. Therefore, the cell
goes into a hypotonic state, which means that the water rushes into the cell via
osmosis; the movement of water from an area of high to low concentration. The
majority of sports drinks are isotonic. Some scientists argue that the isotonic state of
sports drinks renders them ineffective in regards to cellular hydration. It has been
argued that because water isn t entering the cell during an isotonic state, performance
is impaired due to improper cellular hydration. It should be noted that sports drink
consumption after exercise is detrimental. After exercise, glucose demand slows
down. When the supply of glucose from sports drinks is greater than the demand,it is
eventually converted to fat via lipogenesis. In addition to the negative effects of
sports drinks, it is also important to take into consideration, the fact that glucose
/electrolyte requirements and sport drink ingredients will vary. Therefore, while one
sports drink could improve performance for one person, it could be ineffective for
someone else. Also, sport drinks are likely innefective for aerobic (cardio based)
excercises that

Case Study Write Up
1.Do some outside searches to determine an understanding of the Boehm Waterfall
Software engineering methodology. How does this relate to the SDLC?
SDLC stands for the systems development life cycle. It is a conceptual model used in
project management that describes the stages involved in an information system
development project, from an initial feasibility study through maintenance of the
completed application. There are five steps to the SDLC, which are planning,
analyze, design, implementation, and maintenance. The Boehm Waterfall Software
engineering methodology is the waterfall software contains stages that hold stages of
system requirements, software requirements, preliminary and detailed design,
implementation, testing, operations, and maintenance. SDLC and the Boehm
Waterfall methodology are extremely similar, however the Boehm Waterfall is a
detailed methodology and also includes validation at each stage where SDLC does
not have either of those advantages.
2.What is the fewest number of stages that you can find in the SDLC and what are
those stages.
The fewest number of stages that I could find were the four stages. These stages are
the study phase, design phase, developmental phase, and operational phase. They are

34. Middle Childhood Cognitive Development
Middle childhood is a critical time in a child s, as it brings a lot of changes.
Cognitive, Physical, and social, skills develop quickly at this stage. Middle age
children develop confidence in all areas of life. During Middle childhood, one will
undergo physical changes such as height and weight. Children began to focus on
their appearance as they try to fit in social groups. This also the period when a child
begin the onset of puberty and hormonal changes. The middle childhooddevelop brain
changes as called as maturational (Broderick Blewitt, 2014). Intellectual, memory and
language is also developed in this time period. Cognitive developmental is important
because children are characterized by learningstrategies and academic skills.
35. Side Effects Of The Movie Shutter Island
Mental disorders can have dangerous and harmful side effects. In the movie Shutter
Island, there are many examples of a mental illness that are harmful to an individual.
There are three effects that seem more harmful and long term. First, many people
who are sleep deprived for an extended period tend to have difficulties with their
mental state. Mental illnesscan often cause an individual to react to an emotional
situation in a more violent manor. Most importantly, when one s mental state is
damaged, flashbacks and distorted memories are common. Many people who
suffer from psychological problems are often troubles with insomnia as a side
effect because sleep requires a steady mind. Shutter island is a thriller/drama
featuring Leonardo DiCaprio playing the role of a character named Teddy Daniels
who is a U.S. Marshal who suffers with severe PTSD. The beginning of the movie
really makes you question how this movie is going to take place. This is a type of
movie with several flashbacks and starts in the middle of the movie, unfolding layers
of information before finally revealing the beginning in the end. The movie leads
you to believe that Teddy and his partner come to shutter island as U.S. Marshalls to
investigate a patient that has escaped from the mental hospital on shutter island. In
order to access the island, Teddy and his partner must take the boat in. Once they get
off the boat they try to get every piece of information on how this patient escaped.

multitude of countries on the international market. In this essay I will answer three of
the major pressing questions facing the world as they try to prepare themselves for
this drastic change. In developed nations, corporations and governments alike are

programs especially those pertaining to retirement. This stress is stemming from a

One way they can lessen the blow is to privatize their pension funds by
encouraging businesses, through tax breaks most likely, to absorb the cost of
retirement. As mentioned earlier, these governments may also want to increase the
retiring age. Another suggestion would be to assess, the idea of encouraging
immigration. While this may be the most politically controversial suggestion it
may also be the most effective way to support an aging workforce. An increase in
immigrants can compensate for the decrease in the working age population. This
course of action may also be one of the most viable options because those in
developing nations see countries like the UK as a place of endless opportunity for
social ability and are already motivated to move. While none of these strategies can
completely impede the challenges of a shrinking workforce, they will certainly lessen
the economic experienced blow experienced by both companies and
37. The Humble President After Honest Abe
The Humble President after Honest Abe Not all presidencies can have historic
events of Washington or Jefferson. Some presidencies are consumed with political
infighting or fractionation. President Ulysses Grant was born April 27, 1822 in
Point Pleasant, Ohio. He graduated from US Military Academy at West Point in
New York. He served from 1846 through 1854 when he quit the Army. He quit to
spend time with his wife and four children. In 1860 Grant began to organize
soldiers for the Union. In 1861 Grant was made colonel of a regiment in Illinois
and served until the end of the Civil War. (Rumsch, 2009) By the end of the Civil
war Grant was a general and received the surrender from General Robert E Lee
from the Confederacy. From this record Grant became the Republican nominee for
president after Andrew Johnson. He was the youngest man to be elected President at
that time, the eighteenth president of the United States. President Grant s terms of
office were rife with corruption and upheaval. His presidency followed on the heels
of the Civil War, the most divisive times in American history. While the Civil War
was over, the nation s wounds bled. Some states even considered seceding again.
(Scheieler, 2013) During his presidency he fought for reconstruction and civil rights,
he got the 15th amendment passed, tried to peaceable deal with the Indians, maintain
the economy, increase safety and American influence abroad, and he increased the
executive branches powers. He was a
38. Salad Bowl Analysis
The immigration is always an important issue throughout the history of the United
States. The government is struggling to assist the diversity of cultures and ethnic
groups because immigrants continuously bring their traditions into America. This
raised the metaphor melting pot and salad bowl, which described the term of
assimilation and integration of the many different cultures in America. Today, the
United Statessociety no longer matches the melting potmetaphor; it shifts to salad
bowl metaphor. This concept is different from the notion of the melting pot. The
salad bowl means that the immigrants keep their unique customs and cultures, the
integration degree of immigrant merge into the American community, and the youth
immigrant generations recognize their heritage of origin culturein the mainstream of
American culture. For these reasons, the salad bowl metaphor would be more
appropriate to America society these days.
The term melting pot was generally used in the United States after it was used as a
metaphor for describing an association of cultures and ethnicities in 1908. Many
different types of people blend together as one in a society. America is always a
nation of immigration, based on the history element of the country. The generations
of immigrants have mixed together. They have refused their origin traditions and
cultures to become totally assimilated into American society. That was why
American citizen considered United States was a melting pot. In contrast to the
soup bowl theory, there is the emergence of salad bowl metaphor. It asserts that the
integration of the many different cultures of the United States people combines like
a big salad bowl. It means many cultures, languages, and ethic co exist in peaceful,
like all kinds of ingredients in a bowl of salad. It mixes together, but it does not
dissolve into one.
Although the melting pot theory seems to be outdated in American society today,
however, there are still a lot of conservatives to favor their views on this metaphor.
They think the fusing of different ethnic group is essential for building a cohesive
society. Immigrants should give up their origin tradition national identity, and they try
to entirely assimilate

all stays true to the original time period and helps transport the audience back to
1950s Australia. The main feature of this set was the beautiful white but not
completely opaque curtain which surrounded the stage. When coupled with Nigel
Leving s lighting design created wallpaper like effect to surround the space which
is later destroyed to connect with the climax of the play. Although it drew you into
the space in the beginning once characters started to enter and exit you notice that
the curtain alludes to a greater world beyond the living room. To signify the end of
Act II and the beginning of Act III the architraves of the room were lifted from 3 to
6 metres to create an empty area to help show that after the fight between Barney
and Roo all the characters felt isolated and created a stark reality of a house with
no life. The costuming also done by Runciman was a gentle connection to the
original time period but also had a seamlessly had a connection to each character
and their personalities. Olive was very much a free spirit and was very open with
herself although naГЇve her very young playful style dress and her lack of shoes
connected with this so that we really understood her as a
41. I Am Legend Sacrifice
Is it really worth giving one s life for something? Sacrifice is most typically tied to
a religious purpose; defined as an act of slaughtering an animal or person or
surrendering a possession as an offering to God or to a divine or supernatural
figure . I Am Legend portrays an altered view of sacrifice. For three years, in a post
apocalyptic world, Dr. Robert Neville struggles to find a cure for a genetically re
engineered virus that has almost wiped out human existence. When he accomplishes
the impossible, he sacrifices himself. Sacrificeis to give up something for the benefit
of someone else. Sacrifice has many meanings, but the essential meaning is to give
up something for the benefit of other persons. Most commonly, we think about
sacrifice as taking a person s life... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We must ask Is it worth it? Does it make sense? Is it justified? The Aztecs for
example sacrificed humans to thank their gods. We have no idea whether or
whether not these sacrifices benefited their people. Scientifically, we can conclude
that there was no gain by the practice of sacrifice. However, their practice was for
the greater good. Aztecs would sacrifice to thank the gods, and ask for a
prosperous life. The same idea can be applied to The Lottery. The town sacrificed a
child in hopes of a healthy harvest. Although these are not voluntary, they follow
the same ideal to give up something for the benefit of others. In I Am Legend,
Lieutenant Colonel Neville sacrificed himself from his family as they boarded the
helicopter to leave New York City. Robert chose to say and protect his city and
people, Ground Zero as he described it. Later on, Robert sacrificed himself (by
suicide) to keep Anna and Ethan, who had the cure, safe from the dark eaters .
Robert s sacrifices were honorable. He realized that his mission was accomplished,
and that the baton had to be passed on. His efforts were not in
42. The Willpower Instinct By Kelly Mcgonigal
In our daily lives we encounter temptations and regardless of resisting or falling for
them is due to the amount of willpower you posses. In the book The willpower
Instinct by Kelly McGonigal, demonstrates how stress can affect our daily lives by
causing us to act irrationally by listening to our temptations however through, her
teaching of self control, motivation, and the beneficial aspect of controlling your
willpower can lead to a successful and healthy human being. Facing these temptations
can be difficult when dealt with, but through the willpower experiments the cause and
effects of temptations can be learned from. One willpower challenge I currently have
is my poor habit of spending money due to the temptationsthat occurs when I m
mostly with my social peers, but through gaining self control, a better sense of self
awareness, and motivation progresses me through this challenge.
McGonigal demonstrated how we are heavily influenced by our social peers and
how our temptations can be effected by each other. She stated Self control is
influenced by social proof, making both willpower and temptation contagious
(McGonigal 208). Being surrounded by my social peers who constantly spend on
food and fun activities, it causes me to be more susceptible to these temptations.
Sharing the same interest as my friends make it difficult for me as my peer s
choices have an effect on me as the feeling of being excluded occurs when I m the
only one skipping a midnight meal to save
43. Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Buffy the Vampire Slayer hush is one of the unique episodes from the series
because instead of having dialogue theres more musical cues. Theres an
unpleasant evil presence its claimed to be The Gentlemen it has almost everyones
voice in the town. One of the character named Giles find that the only way for this
creature can be stopped is if a woman screams. But the group has to fight the
monster voiceless which is Ironic because its the only way it can be stopped so no
one else looses their voice. In the story we can see how Buffy Summer seems to be
taking the leader role throughout the series. For example in the particular episode
we can see how Buffy always seems to have full control of what she really wants to
do. One scene really stood... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As soon as they hold hands, the vending machine slams against the door. It was
super shocking to witness this because for a moment I thought tara seem to be a
memetic character. This episode follows a Restricted Narration seems to be the
outgoing theme on this story because we know what is happening alongside them.
We don t see whats happening to those character who aren t as important in the
series but rather we get to know the life of those who are the central of attention
throughout the scenes. For example, a television news reporter states that everyone
in Sunnydale has come down with laryngitis and the town has been quarantined.
Knowing trouble is looming that night. But after this we don t know anything
more about this reporter. The only difference I see its at the end where everyone
seems to be getting their voices back. Also another drawback was when Buffy was
getting trapped by one of those evil monsters. Overall this episode really portrayed
a lot of different characteristics. It was a really different than what I usually watch.
Some of the stuff in this episode were kind of unpredictable I usually like to watch
stuff thats I at least know whats going to
44. The Importance Of Fairy Tales
Fairy Tale s Favorable Information Fairy tales are important due to the ability to
enhance a child s imagination and artistic intellect. On a deeper note, however, they
allow for the development of critical thinking skills, which, in turn, allow for children
to make logical decisions based on the choices that the characters make within the
tale. They see the actions that the characters engage in and, as a result, the
consequences that follow, which allows them to analyze what happened and why. In
Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Hansel and Grethel, through the
various obstacles that Cinderella faces to be with the prince and her interaction with
her step sisters, the Queen s false intentions towards Snow White and her... Show

Moreover, Cinderella continues showing signs of good faith. Her love for her step
sisters is grandiose. Cinderella s behavior inculcates that everyone should be
treated with love and respect. She does a grand gesture demonstrating that her
intentions are pure. According to Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, Cinderella, who was
good as she was beautiful, gave her two sisters a home in the palace, and that very
same day married them to two great lords of the court (9). Cinderella s love
towards her step sisters is unconditional and her actions speaks for themselves.
Instead of punishing her sisters, in a sense, she is giving them a second chance.
As stated before, Cinderella shows that love and compassion is what every human
being should receive, regardless of their prior actions. Further, fairy tales, without
a doubt, teach valuable lessons about being weary of strangers. Stranger danger is,
indeed, something that all children should know about. In Snow White and the
Seven Dwarfs, the concept of strangers being potentially dangerous is clearly
depicted through the actions of the evil queen. The dwarfs, for example, give
Snow White explicit safety precautions. According to Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm,
Once again they warned her to be on guard and not to open the door for anyone
(143). For the sake of Snow White s protection, she is given a set of rules to which
she must adhere to if she wants to stay safe. As children read this, they, too, can learn
from Snow White s
46. Steve Jobs Motivation
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly
satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work
is to love what you do. If you haven t found it yet, keep looking. (Jobs). A person s
life revolves around their ambitions as Steve Jobs revealed in a 2005
commemorative address at Stanford University. Jobs was not a man who took his
work lightly. In fact, he lived his life so that he impacted the whole world. Steve Jobs
pursuit of doing great work and loving what he did can be traced through his early
life, his time as a business executive, and even though his legacy, where his ideas live
perpetually.
Steve Jobs life could be described with three words Abandoned. Chosen. Special
(Isaacson 27). First, he was abandoned because his biological parents gave him up
for adoption shortly after his birth. His birth mom, Joanne, demanded that he be
adopted by scholarly people of high caliber, yet she settled for a loving but lower
class couple. So it was that Steve was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs (Moisescot).
Twenty years passed, and it seemed like all Steve would be was abandoned and
chosen. In school, Steve was unmotivated and never completed his homework. One of
his fourth grade teacher s saw this, so she bribed him with money to get him to
accomplish his work. This method of motivation proved to be effective in obtaining
Steve s attention (Hunter 7). Steve maintained this motivation in his

Sierra Leone is a country with much history. It has many historical sites and great
mines that contain so much treasure . Its economy is still growing and they re
trying to improve themselves. They re a diverse country with different ethnic groups

48. Traveling Around the World
Traveling Around the World I am a great traveler known to the open world. I
traveled through China, I traveled through Russia, and I traveled everywhere you
can ever imagine. But my story starts in Jakarta. I didn t like traveling but I was
challenged by my friend, Benny, to discover new things in this whole world, to do
things that no one has ever done, and he said he would give me a surprise if I did
it, so I took the challenge. I was confused where to start, but I kept on thinking. I
texted my friend where to start and he told me just to follow the Earth. I kept on
wondering what that meant, until I saw the map of the Earth. I will start from
Australia to Los Angeles and back to Jakarta and I will think about the transportation

Everything in Milan has good quality so we bought clothing. After Italy, my favorite
part of Europe begins in Greece. In Athens we rented a jeep, Checked in a small hotel
, traveled everywhere and discovered the night life in Athens. The next morning we
checked out and went to Acropolis. I was so tired in Acropolis and we went to an
island there called Spetses. Spetses was my favorite island in Greece because the
beach was awesome and Jessie and I had a lot of fun there. We did a lot of water
sports and just chilled there. We went to 3 other islands called Hydra, Poros, and
Aegina. After we left Greece we traveled around Europe. We went off Turkey,
Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Scandinavia, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, until
Portugal. I was very tired and rested in Portugal for 3 days. I m also getting ready
for the United States Trip. 3 days has passed and we are heading to U.S.A. We
started off in Washington and used taxi to travel around New York. We took over a
month in the U.S. In New York we watched an NBA match between the New York
Knicks and the Orlando Magic and Knicks won. We went shopping in the whole
New York and we stayed in Ritz Carlton. After New York we head to Florida.
Florida was the most fun place in the trip around the world. In Orlando we went to
Disney World and it was the best fun place ever. I played a lot of stuff. There were
also theme parks in Orlando with crazy Roller coasters. The next day we went to
Miami and watched another
49. Tibia Essay
Background
Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) is an othopaedic procedure to repair rupture
of cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) in dogs. It has also been applied in cats. The
canine CCL is a band of tough fibrous tissue that attaches the femur to the tibia. It is
attached to the interdylar notch of the tibia at one end and the caudomedial part of
the lateral femoral condyle at the other end. It keeps the tibia from sliding cranially
beneath the femur when the limb bears weight. It also limits medial rotation of the
tibia when the stifle is flexed [1]. These help to prevent the stifle joint from over
extending or rotating.
The rupture of this ligament in dog is not suddenly broken due to excessive trauma,
but usually degenerates slowly over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

After the model was imported into Abaqus, the mechanical properties earned from
the prior process were assigned to the model. In addition, as the model is assumed
as a homogenous structure, then the highest values of all mechanical properties
were used as a representative of all structure. These properties are density of 1813 kg
/m3, young modulus of 4993 MPa and Poisson coefficient of 0.3 (see figure 4).
Interaction
This part is the most important of the analysis because fissure and fracture cannot be
observed without given fracture mechanics. Therefore, the crack propagation of
this study can be studied using XFEM method. This method will define the model
as a crack domain, but the crack cannot be propagated without crack initiation. A
crack tip was placed at the location where the highest stress was concentrated on. In
our study, the highest stress was located at cylindrical wall of maquet hole at
approximately 225п‚° from X+ axis when determined in XY plane as shown in
figure 7. The crack tip is a very thin surface placed on the model associated with the
centre of the maquet hole in XY plane. This tip has 0.5 mm. overlap into the
cylindrical wall of maquet hole as shown in figure
