Organisation Structure. Organisational Structure Is A System
Organisation Structure
Organisational structure is a system used to define a hierarchy within an organisation. It identifies each job, its
function and where it reports to within the organisation. When hiring large amounts of staff organisation is
important. Everyone in the company needs to understand their individual/team role. It is the manager s job to
keep their staff organised and motivated to getting the job done. As the business grows in size and therefore
takes on more staff, managers need to make sure employees understand their role within the company.
Organisation is the way a business is structured. This structure is developed to establish how an organisation
operates and assists an organisation in obtaining its goals to allow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As you can see the image above also does fit its name because as you go down it, it gets thicker showing that
each manager has more and more workers to monitor.
Chain of Command and Employee Roles
A traditional hierarchical structure clearly defines each employee s role within the organisation and
demonstrates who that employee works for in that department/area. Furthermore, it defines the nature of their
relationship with other employees. Hierarchical organisations are often tall with narrow spans of control,
which will always get wider as you move down the structure. They are often centralised with the most
important decisions being taken by senior management.
Tall Structure Tall structures, like the one above, have many levels of hierarchy. An advantage of this structure
is that the span of control is very narrow and long therefore there are many opportunities for promotion.
However, a disadvantage of this organisational structure is that lines of communication are long, due to many
levels in the chain of command and this may mean that messages get lost or tampered with on their way to the
bottom and the firm is unresponsive to change. Another advantage of this structure is that each manager in
each level of command has fewer staff or employees to watch over and control. This means that their job is
easier as they only have to closely manage a few people and they can keep them on the task at hand. As a
result of close management it means that the

Who Was The Nationalist Movement Of Zionism
The nationalist movement of Zionism emerged out of the Jewish people s need for a national state of their
own. This idea harkens back to the establishment of the Kingdom of Israel after the Exodus. The Holy Land
and all of its historic prestige persisted in Jewish culture as they spread throughout the Diaspora for 2000
years.
Restrictions and persecution followed the Jewish people as they were met with prejudice throughout Eastern
and Western Europe. Organized political Zionism grew from tsarist Russia, where pogroms carried out against
the Russian and Polish Jews in the 1880 s killed thousands. Originating in Russia in 1884, an agency named
the Lovers of Zion assisted the emigration of Jews to Palestine, where they organized small farms. During this
time Leon Pinsker wrote Auto Emancipation , a Zionist pamphlet in which he posits an answer to the Jewish
Question . He argues that Jews are despised all over the world, and are viewed as aliens that cannot be
assimilated. He also states, Since it is not to be our mission to reform mankind, we must see what we have to
do for ourselves under the circumstances.
Another prominent Zionist activist was Theodor Herzel who wrote the Jewish State in 1896, where he asserts
that the Jews comprised a nation without a political state. It is important to note that both Pinsker and Herzel
did not directly name Palestine as the location for a Jewish state. The following year, Herzel organized the first

Rape Myth Acceptance
Rape Myth Acceptance: Maintaining the Status Quo
According to the FBI database, in the year 2013 a rape occurred roughly once every 6.6 minutes. (US
Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2014). This is based on 79,770 reported cases of rape
following an eighty year old definition, which defines rape as carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and
against her will (US Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2014). In 2013 however, the
definition of rape was changed, and now reads, Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with
any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim

There are even studies which have found women more likely than men to blame the victim. (Stromwall,
Alfredsson, Landstrom, 2012, p. 255) In a study of first and second year college students it was also shown
that students with a higher sexual knowledge were less likely to accept rape myths. (Aronowitz, Lambert,
Davidoff, 2012, p. 179) The same study also stated that despite the correlation between a higher sexual
knowledge and lower rape myth acceptance (RMA), that increasing knowledge only will not fix this problem,

The Image Of Blood In A Long Way Gone By Ishmael Beah
Ishmael Beah has been through just about everything a soldier in can experience while in war, and he wants to
show how war is not a good solution. If we do not take what he says into account, loved ones may be taken
from us and have to experience what he once did as a soldier. Or worse, our loved ones could be killed by one
of the many destructions caused by war. The blood shed on the battlefields of war could be our own if people
don t listen to what Beah is trying to tell about war. Beah uses the image of blood throughout this book to
show why war is not a good answer. He could have lessened the image of blood if he wanted his take on war
to be portrayed differently. Blood was chosen as the image because the main purpose of war is to prevent
future blood shed from occurring, but it really just creates more casualties and more blood shed. By looking at
the way Beah portrays the image of blood in A Long Way Gone , one can see that his view on war is not a
positive one, which is important because the way Beah depicts war is vital to Beah s story and the overall tone
of the book.
In a village, at the time of a rebel attack, Beah sees a mother carrying her baby on her back. The baby is
covered in blood, and its mother is covered in her baby s blood. The baby plays a huge part in imagery in A
Long Way Gone. I see a mother carrying her dead child on her back (Beah pg. 13). Beah sees this horrific
image himself. The baby was killed while a war scene was occurring in the

Importance Of Public Speaking Speech
Before I started taking UMUC SPCH 100, I never encountered a situation where I had to use public speaking
skills at all. Just the thought of having to speak in front of a class as a requirement made me nervous. But that
wasn t the only challenge I was facing mentally. Since I never had any public speaking experience before,
things such as body language, tone, eye contact, etc. were easily forgotten since my last speech class over five
years ago. All of that was easily spotted in the process of making my self introduction video when I kept
deciding to do retakes repeatedly. In the end, I managed to produce a product that would keep me from failing
but it was nothing that I could be proud of.
When it came time for the second speech to be due I was relieved almost that it would be another prerecorded
session. I thought about how I could have sort of cheat the fundamentals of public speaking by just doing
retakes any time I messed up. But my luck ran out when it was changed to an in class project where we would
use our peers as an interview partner. I was glad that we have been doing a few impromptu speeches up to this
point. Without any sort of warm up beforehand it would have been a far worse speech than it already was.
After interviewing my partner, I thought I had compiled enough information but I failed to transition it to a
well organized speech. I took this as a good wakeup call that I really needed to practice the basic of public
speaking. After delivering my speech I

Investigation of in vitro and in vivo antifungal activity of different plant acetonic extracts against fungal skin
isolates
ABSTRACT
T he worldwide increase of multidrug resistance has impaired the current antimicrobial therapy, warranting the
search for other alternatives. This study investigated the efficacy of using plant extracts; Lawsonia inermis
L(Henna), Glycyrrhiza glabra L(licorice) and Rosmarinus officinalis L (Rosemary) as antifungal
agents.Antifungal susceptibility test revealed that nystatin were mostly active against tested clinical isolates. In
vitro antifungal activity of the different plant extracts against isolates showed that acetonic extract of licorice,
had high antifungal activity. In vivo study, topical application of licorice gave promising and excellent healing
response. We propose that the higher percentage of (GC MS) of 3 O Methyl d glucose 29.1 %, most probably
are the causes of its higher antifungal activity.
INTRODUCTION
Fungal and bacterial skin infections are of public health concern as they can elicit social, economic and public
health problem (Maseleno and Hasan, 2013). Heavily infected persons with visible lesions are often
unconscious targets of social stigma of rejection isolation because of their unslightly appearance. The cost of
long term diagnosis and treatment can be over bearing for low income individuals who make up the bulk of
developing countries where these infections occur in epidemic proportions due to poor hygiene. It

Fossil Fuels Disadvantages
Fossil fuels have been the world s main energy source since they were discovered, however, they carry
harmful side effects such as pollution and climate change. Forms of alternative energy such as solar, wind, and
nuclear power are possible replacements of fossil fuel energy. Controversy surrounds both fossil fuels and
alternative forms of energy due to each energy form having consequences. Some believe that alternative
energy brings just as many disadvantages as fossil fuels, while others argue that alternative energy is better for
the environment and its population. While people have different beliefs pertaining to alternative energy, both
forms of energy have been used throughout history. Fossil fuels are created from the remains of decayed
animals and plants and then burned to make energy. Coal, oil, and natural gas are examples of fossil fuels.
Fossil fuels grew in popularity during the Industrial Revolution when the first coal deposits were found
(Mason). This discovery prompted a new age of energy and eventually led to the use of oil, another fossil fuel.
Fossil fuels continued to grow and eventually became the world s main energy source, but burning fossil fuels
gives off carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas that causes climate change. The climate change created by fossil
fuels produced the controversy that surrounds this form of energy. Another popular energy source is alternative
energy. Alternative energy is any form of energy besides fossil fuels, such as solar, wind, and nuclear power.
Similar to fossil fuels, ideas of alternative energy began during the Industrial Revolution, however, these
designs were not created until the 1950s (Mason). During the 1950s, the renewable forms of alternative energy
were the most popular, due to the realization that fossil fuel sources would eventually be depleted. Today,
research about alternative energy is still being done as this energy source is also controversial. Alternative
energy is said to be less reliable and even more dangerous than fossil fuels. Although both alternative energy
forms and fossil fuels are controversial, they remain relevant in today s world because energy is necessary in
people s daily lives. In support of alternative energy is the

Herbert Hoover
Herbert Hoover is one of America s most forgotten presidents and is at the bottom of the list when it comes to
polls ranking chief executives of the United States. Herbert Hoover was born on the 10th of August 1874 in
West Branch, Iowa. He grew up in Oregon and was one of the first students to attend Stanford University
when it opened in 1891. Hoover graduated from Stanford with a major in geology and utilized his education to
start a career as a mining engineer. People do not easily remember Hoover and he is often overlooked when it
comes to U.S. history textbooks. When people speak of Herbert Hoover, they most likely remember him as an
economic Satan , as his Presidency occurred during the first four years of the Great Depression. Hoover served
as the thirty first president of the United States from 1929 to 1933. Before becoming President, he married
Lou Henry, on February 10, 1899. The couple honeymooned in China where Hoover ended up taking a job as
a mining consultant. Shockingly enough, Hoover built a successful career as lead engineer for a private mining
corporation that worked for the Chinese emperor. For a month of time that the Hoovers lived in China, their
settlement was under heavy fire during the Boxer Rebellion. During this rebellion, Hoover helped his local
community by building barricades around their city and even risked his life by saving Chinese children. He
became very wealthy from mining the coal in China and later moved to lead the

The Works of Christina Rossetti
There comes a time in life, when one realizes what is important. To some, the most important things in life
come in a diamond embedded suitcase filled with the grand jewels of life: money, love, and leaving legacies.
People seem to have one simple thought, that having money and love is the most important thing in life.
However, that is not the case for Christina Rossetti. Her views on life are very realistic and matter of fact. She
believes earthly gifts and human emotions are not important because none of it is permanent. She does not
need money or love, and she does not care if she is remembered. Rossetti reveals what is most important to her
her relationship with God, not her relationship with humanity. Rossetti displays what is important to her
through her humble plea in Song . In the poem, she is neither depressed, nor joyful; she simply states what she
believes. She believes that memorials and placing flowers on graves are not for the ones who are deceased, but
for those they leave behind. She asks them not to show her any special attention, she will be dead and in death,
one cannot feel, hear, speak, or think; therefore she will not be able to acknowledge their gestures. Her lack of
sympathy towards her loved ones shows her detachment to material items as she rejects the love she will
receive at the time of her death. Keeping the memory of a lost loved one is a way for the living to keep the
deceased alive. When thinking of death, most are afraid that no one

Love And Love In Nicholas Sparks s The Last Song
A romantic film is a love story recorded in visual media for broadcast in theaters and on TV. It focuses on
passion, emotion, as well as the affectionate, romantic involvement of the main characters. It shows their
journey that s genuinely strong and true along with where the pure romantic love will take them through
dating (Dictionary). Romantic films tell the story of two unlikely characters who meet and fall in love. As the
films continue, the characters are torn apart, and soon come to the realization of how much they truly love
each other as they search for a way to get back together. The Last Song (2010) is a film that shows the struggle
of two young teens that fall in love but are split apart when tragedy hits them.
On September 1, 2009, Nicholas Sparks released his fourteenth book, The Last Song which is about a young
girl named Ronnie Miller, who spends the summer with her father at Wrightsville Beach, where he s been
living the past few years. In the beginning of the movie, she s a rebellious seventeen year old girl, but soon
changes her ways when she meets the boy of her dreams, Will Blakelee, who is played by Liam Hemsworth
(Goodreads). According to Nicholas Sparks, he came up with the idea of his book from his past book. He s
always written about the tragedy in life and love at first sight, what he hasn t done is taken that love and used
it with teens around the age of seventeen. Sparks said, Usually after those words pop into my head, I move

Winterdance Gary Paulsen Motifs
Have you ever faced a challenge you thought you could not overcome? In the nonfiction book, Winterdance
the author, Gary Paulsen describes his journey of running the Iditarod. Gary Paulsen faces many challenges
and and writes about his story using motif, theme, and symbols.
M!!Paulsen uses motifs to help understand and develop the theme. A motif is like a theme but is only a word
of a few words. It is a reoccurring subject that comes up in many different stories, movies, or books. A motif is
a recurrent symbol, idea, or image that develops or explains the theme. A motif from the book would be losing
hope. When Gary Paulsen is getting his new canadian dogs for his Iditarod team, the dogs are not very happy
and shred their kennels. The growl howl from inside the camper was deafening. It sounded like someone was
being torn apart. (pg. 57) This quote is him losing hope because he is getting his new dogs for the Iditarod and
they are tearing up the back of his camper. He is losing his hope for having them run in his sled team. The
dogs, Ortho, Murphy, and Devil were vicious and feisty, they were no specific breed, but various mixes of ...

Things To Know About Having The LASIK Procedure Later In Life
Now that you re older, you probably have more time and money to do things for yourself. If you re tired of
wearing glasses or contacts and have always wanted to have LASIK surgery, now might be the time to do it.
However, as you age, your eyes undergo many changes. Therefore, LASIK might not be a good option any
longer, or if it is, your doctor may need to take other factors into consideration. Here are some things to
consider.
Cataract Treatment
It s common for people to develop cataracts as they age. Cataracts can cause blurry vision, and LASIK surgery
cannot correct this. Your eye doctor checks for the development of cataracts during your yearly eye exams. If
they grow large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you still have vision problems after surgery, your doctor may follow up with a LASIK procedure after your
eyes have healed.
Presbyopia
Presbyopia is another common eye problem associated with aging eyes. With this condition, it gets harder and
harder for you to see things up close. Reading glasses help because they magnify near vision. However, you
don t wear them all the time because you can t see things far away with them on. That s why bifocals are
usually the treatment of choice for presbyopia if you have to wear glasses all the time. That way you can see
far away and up close too.
Another option to bifocals is monovision. You can wear monovision contacts so one eye sees far away and the
other sees up close. This same theory can be applied to the LASIK procedure. When you have presbyopia, the
eye surgeon will probably adjust the vision in one eye so you can read up close and adjust the other eye for
clear far vision. Your brain adjusts so you can see clearly both ways. It s a good idea to try monovision
contacts before you have the LASIK procedure to make sure you can tolerate it before having an irreversible
surgery done on your

Identity Development
When people want to figure out their identity, they ll have to change their perspective, on how they think
people view them. Doing this, you ll slowly engage deeper into self consciousness. George Herbert Mead,
explained in four stages on, how people come to self consciousness. Two important things that work together
as a person goes through the stages, in George Herbert Mead s theory are, the I, and the Me. The Four stages
are, imitation, play, games, and generalized (Pg. 35 40 Mead 2009.) There re also some challenges, and
another theory that relates to, George H. Mead s theory of identity development, that I will discuss as well.

A Brief Note On The State Of Economic Crisis
H2O Can t be a No
Cochabamba, one of the poorest cities in the world has almost no access to safe water and its citizens suffer
from life threatening waterborne disease. Cochabamba s economy cannot afford the necessary infrastructure to
ensure everyone access to safe water. Bechtel must privatize Cochabamba s water, offloading the previously
unaffordable infrastructure to distribute water to the underserved poor.
1 How did Bolivia get into the situation it s in now? What led to this need for privatization?

In the long run, water is conserved, solving the water crisis and providing water to all Bolivian families.
2 What is the political climate in Bolivia? Will it support your bid?
Richer citizens are capable of getting by with safe water, but poorer settlements have limited access to water
and are desperately in need of a privatized water system. In Villa San Miguel, the residents had recently dug a
well, increasing their access to water. As Finnegan states, Clean water was suddenly plentiful and relatively
cheap households paid the water cooperative between two and five dollars a month to cover the costs of
running the pump and maintaining the system. [4]. Through the foundation of a new, inexpensive water
source, this well provided water to 210 families. The expenses are covered by the townspeople, whom
collectively can fund cheaper water sources compared with public access. Although this drastically decreases
the number of people without water access, this is not a sustainable water source and will soon run out,
excentrifying pollution and halting access.
As for people without public access nor locally funded water sources struggle to survive with minimal water
and the diseases acquired by pollutants. The population is growing, and Cochabamba does not have a water
system in place to support all community members, resulting in an increase of people without water. Finnegan
continues by stating that, Today, Cochabamba is ringed by dozens of barrios

Data Modeling For A Relational Database Management System
The need to store and evaluate data is a perpetually growing field in the world of information systems. From
the days of using flat files to very large database management systems that store petabytes of data in real time,
the practice of building information from data continues to evolve. Today, the relational data model is quite
ubiquitous and is used in a plethora of information systems ranging from accounting systems, banks, retail
business, and scientific usage. It is important to understand the concepts involved in data modeling for a
relational database management system in order to build an effective and efficient system.
Data models weren t as sophisticated in the early days as they are today. In the 1960 s and 70 s the first
generation data models were comprised of an ad hoc file system with no concept of relationships between the
files (Coronel Morris, 2015). For instance, one file might contain rows of customer records while another
would house invoices. For simple data, file systems worked, but for large sets of interconnecting data, a data
processing specialist was needed to create a program that fetched the proper data, analyze it, formatted it, and
presented it in a report that made sense to the end user. For every new query, the data processing specialist
needed to create a separate application. Files became increasingly cumbersome the more that were added and
they duplicated quite a bit of data since there were no relationships between files. The time

Sex Trafficking And The Exploitation Of Women Essay
In America, today everyone tries to look at life with a positive outlook. Although bad things are happening,
people and even the government do not want to put full acknowledgement into it. There are major issues going
on in America that people never even knew was happening in our country such as Sex Trafficking. Sex
trafficking is a controversial issue that is never talked nor heard about due to our country putting little work
effort into helping. Sex trafficking is the alternative of slavery in the world today making it extremely
important for people to take a stand and put a stop to this major crisis. Sex trafficking is the exploitation of
women and children within national or across international borders, for the purposes of forced sex work.
Commercial sexual exploitation includes pornography, prostitution, and sex of women and girls and is
characterized by the exploitation of a human being in exchange for goods or money. Each year an estimated
800,000 women and children are trafficked across international borders. Some sex trafficking is highly visible,
such as street prostitution but many trafficking victims remain unseen, operating out of unmarked brothels in
unsuspecting and sometimes suburban neighborhoods. Sex traffickers may also operate out of a variety of
public and private locations, such as massage parlors, spas, and strip clubs. Adult women make up the largest
group of sex trafficking victims followed by girl children, although a small percentage of men and

Retail Shopping Vs Resale
From birth we are taught to look at life in halves. One side versus the other. We are told we need to pick which
side we want to live for, support , or in today s society which side we want to fight on twitter for. There are
many controversial topics present today but the most important topic that few know about is the explanation of
Retail shopping vs. Resale. Buying everyday products via resale as opposed to retail is vital today because
retail prices take advantage of the consumer, the recycling of clothing is very beneficial to the consumer as
well as the environment, and it can be a part of full time job for everyday people. Before people voice their
opinion on a sophisticated topic from the news or why their favorite MLB team is who it is, they should have
reasoning and supporting facts behind it. Retail is defined as The sale of goods ... directly to the customer...at
the retail price (Dictionary.com Retail). If you do not know what a retail price is, a simple definition I was
taught in the Sidhu business school is The retail price is the price at which the manufacturer of a product
believes that it should be sold at to everyday people or explained further it s the price set by a company to
cover all cost from them and a factored profit percent added on to it (IME BA 151). The idea of a retail price
sticker being put onto a product should be a red flag to consumers worldwide. Questions should start to grow
about how they come to this percent and if that percent

well it is actually communicated to people. If these were the only ways, it is effortless overlook.
The mission statement does not reflect on anything regarding ethical or legal practices. However, again based
on Chinese culture, these would be assumed or overlooked. In Chinese culture, it seems that reputation and
results are more important than legal and ethical practices, not that everyone or every business is illegal or
corrupt. But regarding education, parents are much more concerned that their child be given every advantage
possible over the millions of other children, and attending a school that has a reputation of students achieving
high exam scores or being given opportunities to go abroad for college are much more relevant and imperative
to them than ethical or legal practices.

Economic Shift In The United States
Throughout history, the United States has experienced many drastic changes with regards to the economy.
Various economic issues, including detrimental working conditions and an overflow of immigrants into the
United States, played a significant role on the country s economic shift. Initially, the U.S. relied on agricultural
features for economic growth. After the end of the Civil War, the economy, from an industrial aspect, began to

s shift in economy included the production of iron and steel, the growth of corporations and cities, and a
growth in technology.
One of the most impactful causes of the United States shift from an agricultural economy to industrial was the
production of steel. Steel and iron were vital supplies used to build railroads and skyscrapers. One of the most

Abstract
This paper mainly introduces the electric vehicles made by Tesla Motors, Inc. in many aspects, including
comparisons with traditional gasoline fueled vehicles, environmental impact, 5 years ownership cost, safety
and ease of use. At last, drawing the conclusion that for a relatively long period, choosing a Tesla electric
vehicle rather than gasoline fueled cars is a wise decision for it?s greener and more economical. Firstly, few
similarities and differences between Tesla electric cars and traditional ones are generally compared. Then

In the last few years, Tesla Motors, Inc. is growing rapidly. Tesla has more than three thousand employees in
December, 2012. [3] And the number has been increased to six thousand in January, 2014. However, the
relatively high price of Tesla electric cars cannot be ignored. Average customers cannot afford such a car that
is priced more that $70,000. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors, Inc., gave the opinion that Tesla is trying to
eventually offer electric vehicles that are affordable to most consumers. [4][5] A mature model under $40,000
is expected by 2017. [6][7]
Under such cases, some research on the famous Tesla Motors, Inc. and its electric vehicles will be conducted
in the paper. The study mainly focuses on whether the electric vehicles made by Tesla is really more
environmentally friendly as what people heard about. And will it cost too much in daily use? Although many
people assume such electric cars can pollute less, a few people have another theory that such kind of vehicles
isn?t as environmentally friendly as what people expected. In a way, it makes sense because there are still

America s Recent Diplomatic Initiatives
AMERICA S RECENT DIPLOMATIC INITIATIVES
The United States Invasion of Panama, code named Operation Just Cause, happened between mid December
1989 and late January 1990 (diplomatic initiatives 2016). It occurred during the U.S. President George Bush s
term, and ten years after the Torrijos Carter Treaties were ratified. The treaties transferred the control of the
Panama Canal from the United States over to Panama by January 1, 2000 (diplomatic initiatives. 2016).
During the invasion, the Panamanian leader, and dictator Manuel Noriega was deposed, president elect
Guillermo Endara was sworn into office, and the Panamanian Defense Force was dissolved (invasion of
Panama. 2016, May 27).
In the beginning the invasion of Panama appeared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Iraq invaded Kuwait, which is Iraq s smaller neighbor to the south (Gulf War. 2016, May 31). Iraq claimed the
country as an Iraqi territory. The U.S. intervened by invading and pushing back the Iraqis. Later politicians
would say that President Bush failed to stop Saddam Hussein, instead leaving him in power (Gulf War. 2016,
May 31). After the U.S. ended its defense of Kuwait, thousands of Kurdish supporters who lived in Iraq s
northern border regions continued to be killed by Saddam Hussein, an estimated 100,000 (diplomatic
initiatives. 2016). In the U.S., Gulf War Syndrome was seen in veterans of the war, thought to be chemical
weapons related. The American intervention in Somalia, took place in 1993 1994 while Bill Clinton was the
president of the United States (diplomatic initiatives. 2016). The intervention in Somalia was nicknamed
Operation Restore Hope, where U.S. troops and United Nations forces, went to Somalia to restore the order
(diplomatic initiatives. 2016). On October 3, 1993, 18 U.S. soldiers were killed and 78 wounded while
attacking Somali fighters (Army in Somalia, 1992 1994. 2001). Up to 1,000 Somali fighters and civilians were
killed.
There was a large gap in casualties between the two sides. Americans were very shocked by the Oct. 3
incident, they did not understand the source of Somalia anger. They saw their mission as an effort to help the
Somalis (Army in Somalia, 1992 1994. 2001). An article

Question 1 Explain the similarities and differences between prescriptive and descriptive grammars. Do you
think that one type is more important/superior than the other type? Why and why not? Also how are they
relevant to pedagogic grammar?

I don t think so, as they serve different purposes. Prescriptiveists enforce cultural cohesion through language.
They help keep the written language, at least, from changing too quickly, and they do their best to make sure
everyone they have influence over knows the rules for correct grammar. No matter your station in life, it can
be an advantage to be able to use the prestige dialect in some situations. Descriptivists are not interested in
enforcing rules, but in discovering the rules and the patterns behind them, and comparing languages and
dialects. They do not consider some dialects as substandard. Each is worthy of study. Pedagogical sentence
structure is a depiction of how to use punctuation of a language to convey, for people wanting to learn the
target language. It can be contrasted and a reference punctuation, which just portrays the sentence structure of
the language. It possesses a center ground between the ranges of Prescriptive sentence structure, which puts
forward standards about how language ought to be used accurately. It recommends language the way that a

Aliens Vs Dwarf Planets
A dwarf planet is a celestial body which orbits around the sun. The body has to be large enough to have its
own gravity pull itself into a nearly round shape. Usually, a dwarf planet is called a minor planet. The
difference between a dwarf planet and a planet is that a dwarf planet s path around the sun is full of other
objects, while a planet has a clear path when it orbits around the sun. The term dwarf planet was coined in
1981 by Alan Stern, an American Planetary scientist, and have gone through a process of multiple draft
proposals. Conversely, the final definition was set on August 24th, 2006. The International Astronomical
Union (IAU) settled that planets and dwarf planets are two distinct classes of objects , meaning that dwarf

The Use of Magical Realism in Laura Esquivel s Like Water...
Latin American literature is perhaps best known for its use of magical realism, a literary mode where the
fantastical is seamlessly blended with the ordinary, creating a sort of enhanced reality. Though magical realism
is practiced by authors from other cultures, the works of authors Salman Rushdie and Toni Morrison, for
example, are notable examples of non Latin works in which magical realism has been used to both great effect
and great celebration, it is in the works of Latin American authors where the style has flourished and made its
mark on the literary world. Yet even in Latin American works we can find many different kinds of magical
realism, all used to achieve a different end. In the works of the Cuban poet and novelist ... Show more content

Esquivel s novel follows the tradition of magical realism in its purest form and creates a welcome entry into
the Latin American canon whereas Borges stories, most written more than forty years prior to the publication
of Esquivel s novel, use magical realism in a much more complex way and ultimately forge a literary tradition
of their own. From the very first page of Laura Esquivel s Like Water for Chocolate it is clear that the real
world in which her characters inhabit shall be greatly exaggerated. When Esquivel s narrator describes Tita as
being so sensitive to onions that when she was still in my great grandmother s belly her sobs were so loud that
even Nacha, the cook, who was half deaf, could hear them easily. (Esquivel, p. 5) the reader encounters
something at once refreshing, as is always the case when one experiences the supernatural where least
expected, and yet ancient at the same time. While Esquivel could have attempted to tell her story, really the
tale of a (mostly) unrequited love, in a straightforward manner, the casual inclusion of the extraordinary places
it immediately in the tradition of magical realism. Esquivel s novel is awash in such images and these might
have been jarring to casual English readers had it not followed so closely in the tradition of what is perhaps the
most famous and most widely read work of magical realism, Gabriel Garcia Marquez s 1967 novel One
Hundred Years of Solitude. Esquivel s novel, like

Do You Have Breakfast Essay
Do you have breakfast?
Having a breakfast in the morning has surfaced the quite serious issue in the contemporary society. Some
people insist that the breakfast can alter human s behavior. Whereas others are against it. However as far as I
am concerned, I believe that having a meal in the morning can alter human actions throughout the day.
In this essay I will assert my opinions about how breakfast is important and compare what is good and bad in
our daily life.
Breakfast represents the most important meal of starting the day.
How often do you have breakfast in the morning?

Five Stages of Grief
Grief is an emotion that we have which is very complex and often misunderstood. Unfortunately, grief is
something that we all will experience in our lives at one time or another. We will all experience loss in our
lives. The stages of grief are the same whether it be through the death of a loved one, divorce, or some other
loss. There are five stages of grief. It is said that if we get stuck in one of the stages, the process of grieving is
not complete, and cannot be complete. This means that a person will not complete the entire healing process
when there is a loss in their life. A person must go through all five stages of grief to be well again, and to fully
heal. Not everyone goes through the stages at the same time. It is different for ... Show more content on

These plans are now gone after a loss. We feel an incredible lack of control, and we may even feel numb.
Perhaps feelings of suicide may overcome an individual. I obviously feel that family and friends need to be
with the person that has experienced a loss, but in this stage more than any of the other stages family and
friends must be close. There have been many cases where someone has experienced a loss, and then that
person ends up taking their own life. This is the most tragic thing that I can think of. Now we have two
horrible losses to deal with, and I sure don t think that this helps anyone in any way. Depression is normal
throughout a loss, but not when it is taken to the level of suicide. I think that if enough family and friends are
always available to help the person most dealing with the loss then this sort of thing can be avoided. The fifth
and final stage of grief is acceptance. It must be noted that there is a difference between resignation and
acceptance. A person must accept the loss, not just try to bear it quietly. There must be realization that the
person is gone when they die. People must realize that it is not their fault, and that their loved one did not
leave them on purpose. It is said that even in cases of suicide often the deceased person was not in their right
frame of mind. Acceptance must also occur when going through a divorce. There must be realization that it

Pros And Cons Of The National Airspace System
1. Introduction The National Airspace System (NAS) has been becoming busier ever since the Wright Brothers
first took off and the first air mail routes were created in the early 1900s. During this day in age the NAS
supports nearly 87,000 flights per day and is immensely growing as the need for transportation of goods,
people, and services are constantly in demand and even growing in demand. With the introduction of
Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) into the NAS, the airspace is getting even more congested due to the lack
of set in stone regulations from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Now that UAS are becoming more
common amongst the general population, the airways are become much less predictable and much less safe,
which causes a threat to the manned general aviation community. Many of the manned aircraft in the sky are
non cooperative, meaning the pilot has no way of complying with air traffic control directions or contains the

One of the biggest disadvantages that ICAO states in their report is that the only source for pinpointing the
aircraft location is GPS, which is not a good way to ensure that the position is accurate. It is also not good
because the system does not have any back up way to find the position. Stated in the ADS B Radar patent, a
big disadvantage is that because of the need to use GPS with ADS B, the possibility of jamming that could
ruin the DAA capability between cooperative aircraft. While this is a disadvantage, the FAA should be able to
reduce the likelihood of inaccurate positions by enforcing regulation that could be put forth. Another way to
compensate for the loss of GPS is that the ADS B Radar patent describes how it can modify the system by
adding a radar processor thus making the ADS B also act as a primary radar system for detecting non

Whale Rider Culture
Good Morning year 8, today I am going to be talking to you about Maori culture and what I have done in the
film whale rider to try and show the culture using different film techniques. In scene one it starts of as we have
the little girl walking along the road chanting a traditional Maori chant and doing the actions that represent the
song. I have used an eye level shot as it clearly shows her whole upper body and the actions can be clearly
seen. To get to the next clip I use a cut as it is the same scene but from a different angle. The angle has the girl
positioned far away but still In focus with the background blurred suggesting that I want you to focus on the
girl. The next scene you see a Maori figure from a story and you have it filmed at an low angled shot, this
emphasis the figure and as it is painted a darker colour it stand out against the light background. As it zooms
out on the shed you see some designs that are Maori culture patterns that represent the whale rider and the
story of Pakei.

Effects Of Isolation In Bartleby
Effects of Isolation on an Individual In Melville s Bartleby Many of traumatizing and devastating events that
have taken place this year is extremely alarming. The events that were taken place in the recent school
shootings in Florida and Maryland has sharpened awareness for many people. In Herman Melville s Bartleby,
readers can easily draw similarities between Bartleby and the Gunman in these devastating recent events.
Bartleby is an alienated and homeless individual whom is secluded similar to the gunman in these recent
school shootings. The psychological and socio political ramifications of isolation on an individual affects one s
mind, alters his or her ability to exercise cognitive control, and sometimes even lead to violence. Prolonged
isolation is physically bad on individuals, particularly mentally. Isolation interferes with everyday functioning,
such as sleep patterns, attention and logical and verbal reasoning (Bond). In this novella, Bartleby seems to
experience an interference with logical reasoning because he never seems to understand that he needs to leave
the office. The most profound effects of isolation are on the mind. One of the strangest effects is the time

Synthesis Essay on Indocumented Immigrants in the US
In my ENC 1101 class, we were required to go through several of processes to map out the formula of writing
our final assignment in our class: a synthesis essay. The most imperative part of our assignment was to choose
a synthesis essay question on a list that our professor gave us. The second most vital ingredient in the formula
was to choose two texts from our Allyn Bacon Guide to Writing book which would be the backbone of our
synthesis essay that we would have to expand on and create our own ideas from. The question that I choose to

Christian Sociological Model Paper
The social landscape of the U.S. may naturally be an organic development. Society develops as areas of
influence rise and fall over time. Frequently these areas of influence are internal, but at times they also are
external. This is especially true as society becomes more aware of international developments and an economy
becomes increasingly global, or a society engages activities not originally held as part of the original society.
However, there are other parts of society that may hold deeper influence, such as religion, political activities,
and family structures. These areas also influence each other, and in different ways depending on the society
and time in history. In other words, society can be defined by those that are part of it. ... Show more content on

Stuckenberg (1880) makes a significant distinction with the model, identifying it as part of theology vs. a

will be a new heaven and earth where humans will be raised from the dead as the renewed world s rulers and

  • 2. Organisation Structure. Organisational Structure Is A System Organisation Structure Organisational structure is a system used to define a hierarchy within an organisation. It identifies each job, its function and where it reports to within the organisation. When hiring large amounts of staff organisation is important. Everyone in the company needs to understand their individual/team role. It is the manager s job to keep their staff organised and motivated to getting the job done. As the business grows in size and therefore takes on more staff, managers need to make sure employees understand their role within the company. Organisation is the way a business is structured. This structure is developed to establish how an organisation operates and assists an organisation in obtaining its goals to allow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As you can see the image above also does fit its name because as you go down it, it gets thicker showing that each manager has more and more workers to monitor. Chain of Command and Employee Roles A traditional hierarchical structure clearly defines each employee s role within the organisation and demonstrates who that employee works for in that department/area. Furthermore, it defines the nature of their relationship with other employees. Hierarchical organisations are often tall with narrow spans of control, which will always get wider as you move down the structure. They are often centralised with the most important decisions being taken by senior management. Tall Structure Tall structures, like the one above, have many levels of hierarchy. An advantage of this structure is that the span of control is very narrow and long therefore there are many opportunities for promotion. However, a disadvantage of this organisational structure is that lines of communication are long, due to many levels in the chain of command and this may mean that messages get lost or tampered with on their way to the bottom and the firm is unresponsive to change. Another advantage of this structure is that each manager in each level of command has fewer staff or employees to watch over and control. This means that their job is easier as they only have to closely manage a few people and they can keep them on the task at hand. As a result of close management it means that the ... • 3. Who Was The Nationalist Movement Of Zionism The nationalist movement of Zionism emerged out of the Jewish people s need for a national state of their own. This idea harkens back to the establishment of the Kingdom of Israel after the Exodus. The Holy Land and all of its historic prestige persisted in Jewish culture as they spread throughout the Diaspora for 2000 years. Restrictions and persecution followed the Jewish people as they were met with prejudice throughout Eastern and Western Europe. Organized political Zionism grew from tsarist Russia, where pogroms carried out against the Russian and Polish Jews in the 1880 s killed thousands. Originating in Russia in 1884, an agency named the Lovers of Zion assisted the emigration of Jews to Palestine, where they organized small farms. During this time Leon Pinsker wrote Auto Emancipation , a Zionist pamphlet in which he posits an answer to the Jewish Question . He argues that Jews are despised all over the world, and are viewed as aliens that cannot be assimilated. He also states, Since it is not to be our mission to reform mankind, we must see what we have to do for ourselves under the circumstances. Another prominent Zionist activist was Theodor Herzel who wrote the Jewish State in 1896, where he asserts that the Jews comprised a nation without a political state. It is important to note that both Pinsker and Herzel did not directly name Palestine as the location for a Jewish state. The following year, Herzel organized the first Zionist Congress in Basel in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Rape Myth Acceptance Rape Myth Acceptance: Maintaining the Status Quo According to the FBI database, in the year 2013 a rape occurred roughly once every 6.6 minutes. (US Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2014). This is based on 79,770 reported cases of rape following an eighty year old definition, which defines rape as carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will (US Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2014). In 2013 however, the definition of rape was changed, and now reads, Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim (US Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation, ... (Aronowitz, Lambert, Davidoff, 2012, p. 179) The same study also stated that despite the correlation between a higher sexual knowledge and lower rape myth acceptance (RMA), that increasing knowledge only will not fix this problem, but it is a necessary piece of the ... • 5. The Image Of Blood In A Long Way Gone By Ishmael Beah Ishmael Beah has been through just about everything a soldier in can experience while in war, and he wants to show how war is not a good solution. If we do not take what he says into account, loved ones may be taken from us and have to experience what he once did as a soldier. Or worse, our loved ones could be killed by one of the many destructions caused by war. The blood shed on the battlefields of war could be our own if people don t listen to what Beah is trying to tell about war. Beah uses the image of blood throughout this book to show why war is not a good answer. He could have lessened the image of blood if he wanted his take on war to be portrayed differently. Blood was chosen as the image because the main purpose of war is to prevent future blood shed from occurring, but it really just creates more casualties and more blood shed. By looking at the way Beah portrays the image of blood in A Long Way Gone , one can see that his view on war is not a positive one, which is important because the way Beah depicts war is vital to Beah s story and the overall tone of the book. In a village, at the time of a rebel attack, Beah sees a mother carrying her baby on her back. The baby is covered in blood, and its mother is covered in her baby s blood. The baby plays a huge part in imagery in A Long Way Gone. I see a mother carrying her dead child on her back (Beah pg. 13). Beah sees this horrific image himself. • 6. Importance Of Public Speaking Speech Before I started taking UMUC SPCH 100, I never encountered a situation where I had to use public speaking skills at all. Just the thought of having to speak in front of a class as a requirement made me nervous. But that wasn t the only challenge I was facing mentally. Since I never had any public speaking experience before, things such as body language, tone, eye contact, etc. were easily forgotten since my last speech class over five years ago. All of that was easily spotted in the process of making my self introduction video when I kept deciding to do retakes repeatedly. In the end, I managed to produce a product that would keep me from failing but it was nothing that I could be proud of. When it came time for the second speech to be due I was relieved almost that it would be another prerecorded session. I thought about how I could have sort of cheat the fundamentals of public speaking by just doing retakes any time I messed up. But my luck ran out when it was changed to an in class project where we would use our peers as an interview partner. I was glad that we have been doing a few impromptu speeches up to this point. Without any sort of warm up beforehand it would have been a far worse speech than it already was. After interviewing my partner, I thought I had compiled enough information but I failed to transition it to a well organized speech. I took this as a good wakeup call that I really needed to practice the basic of public speaking. After delivering my speech I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Investigation Of Vitro And The Vivo Antifungal Activity Of... Investigation of in vitro and in vivo antifungal activity of different plant acetonic extracts against fungal skin isolates ABSTRACT T he worldwide increase of multidrug resistance has impaired the current antimicrobial therapy, warranting the search for other alternatives. This study investigated the efficacy of using plant extracts; Lawsonia inermis L(Henna), Glycyrrhiza glabra L(licorice) and Rosmarinus officinalis L (Rosemary) as antifungal agents.Antifungal susceptibility test revealed that nystatin were mostly active against tested clinical isolates. In vitro antifungal activity of the different plant extracts against isolates showed that acetonic extract of licorice, had high antifungal activity. In vivo study, topical application of licorice gave promising and excellent healing response. We propose that the higher percentage of (GC MS) of 3 O Methyl d glucose 29.1 %, most probably are the causes of its higher antifungal activity. INTRODUCTION Fungal and bacterial skin infections are of public health concern as they can elicit social, economic and public health problem (Maseleno and Hasan, 2013). Heavily infected persons with visible lesions are often unconscious targets of social stigma of rejection isolation because of their unslightly appearance. The cost of long term diagnosis and treatment can be over bearing for low income individuals who make up the bulk of developing countries where these infections occur in epidemic proportions due to poor hygiene. • 8. Fossil Fuels Disadvantages Fossil fuels have been the world s main energy source since they were discovered, however, they carry harmful side effects such as pollution and climate change. Forms of alternative energy such as solar, wind, and nuclear power are possible replacements of fossil fuel energy. Controversy surrounds both fossil fuels and alternative forms of energy due to each energy form having consequences. Some believe that alternative energy brings just as many disadvantages as fossil fuels, while others argue that alternative energy is better for the environment and its population. While people have different beliefs pertaining to alternative energy, both forms of energy have been used throughout history. Fossil fuels are created from the remains of decayed animals and plants and then burned to make energy. Coal, oil, and natural gas are examples of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels grew in popularity during the Industrial Revolution when the first coal deposits were found (Mason). This discovery prompted a new age of energy and eventually led to the use of oil, another fossil fuel. Fossil fuels continued to grow and eventually became the world s main energy source, but burning fossil fuels gives off carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas that causes climate change. The climate change created by fossil fuels produced the controversy that surrounds this form of energy. Another popular energy source is alternative energy. Alternative energy is any form of energy besides fossil fuels, such as solar, wind, and nuclear power. Similar to fossil fuels, ideas of alternative energy began during the Industrial Revolution, however, these designs were not created until the 1950s (Mason). During the 1950s, the renewable forms of alternative energy were the most popular, due to the realization that fossil fuel sources would eventually be depleted. Today, research about alternative energy is still being done as this energy source is also controversial. Alternative energy is said to be less reliable and even more dangerous than fossil fuels. Although both alternative energy forms and fossil fuels are controversial, they remain relevant in today s world because energy is necessary in people s daily lives. In support of alternative energy is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Works of Christina Rossetti There comes a time in life, when one realizes what is important. To some, the most important things in life come in a diamond embedded suitcase filled with the grand jewels of life: money, love, and leaving legacies. People seem to have one simple thought, that having money and love is the most important thing in life. However, that is not the case for Christina Rossetti. Her views on life are very realistic and matter of fact. She believes earthly gifts and human emotions are not important because none of it is permanent. She does not need money or love, and she does not care if she is remembered. Rossetti reveals what is most important to her her relationship with God, not her relationship with humanity. Rossetti displays what is important to her through her humble plea in Song . In the poem, she is neither depressed, nor joyful; she simply states what she believes. She believes that memorials and placing flowers on graves are not for the ones who are deceased, but for those they leave behind. She asks them not to show her any special attention, she will be dead and in death, one cannot feel, hear, speak, or think; therefore she will not be able to acknowledge their gestures. Her lack of sympathy towards her loved ones shows her detachment to material items as she rejects the love she will receive at the time of her death. Keeping the memory of a lost loved one is a way for the living to keep the deceased alive. When thinking of death, most are afraid that no one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the days of using flat files to very large database management systems that store petabytes of data in real time, the practice of building information from data continues to evolve. Today, the relational data model is quite ubiquitous and is used in a plethora of information systems ranging from accounting systems, banks, retail business, and scientific usage. It is important to understand the concepts involved in data modeling for a relational database management system in order to build an effective and efficient system. Data models weren t as sophisticated in the early days as they are today. In the 1960 s and 70 s the first generation data models were comprised of an ad hoc file system with no concept of relationships between the files (Coronel Morris, 2015). For instance, one file might contain rows of customer records while another would house invoices. For simple data, file systems worked, but for large sets of interconnecting data, a data processing specialist was needed to create a program that fetched the proper data, analyze it, formatted it, and presented it in a report that made sense to the end user. For every new query, the data processing specialist needed to create a separate application. Files became increasingly cumbersome the more that were added and they duplicated quite a bit of data since there were no relationships between files. The time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the very first page of Laura Esquivel s Like Water for Chocolate it is clear that the real world in which her characters inhabit shall be greatly exaggerated. When Esquivel s narrator describes Tita as being so sensitive to onions that when she was still in my great grandmother s belly her sobs were so loud that even Nacha, the cook, who was half deaf, could hear them easily. • 30. Five Stages of Grief Grief is an emotion that we have which is very complex and often misunderstood. Unfortunately, grief is something that we all will experience in our lives at one time or another. We will all experience loss in our lives. The stages of grief are the same whether it be through the death of a loved one, divorce, or some other loss. There are five stages of grief. It is said that if we get stuck in one of the stages, the process of grieving is not complete, and cannot be complete. This means that a person will not complete the entire healing process when there is a loss in their life. A person must go through all five stages of grief to be well again, and to fully heal. Not everyone goes through the stages at the same time. It is different for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These plans are now gone after a loss. We feel an incredible lack of control, and we may even feel numb. Perhaps feelings of suicide may overcome an individual. I obviously feel that family and friends need to be with the person that has experienced a loss, but in this stage more than any of the other stages family and friends must be close. There have been many cases where someone has experienced a loss, and then that person ends up taking their own life. This is the most tragic thing that I can think of. Now we have two horrible losses to deal with, and I sure don t think that this helps anyone in any way. Depression is normal throughout a loss, but not when it is taken to the level of suicide. I think that if enough family and friends are always available to help the person most dealing with the loss then this sort of thing can be avoided. The fifth and final stage of grief is acceptance. It must be noted that there is a difference between resignation and acceptance. A person must accept the loss, not just try to bear it quietly. There must be realization that the person is gone when they die. People must realize that it is not their fault, and that their loved one did not leave them on purpose. It is said that even in cases of suicide often the deceased person was not in their right frame of mind. Acceptance must also occur when going through a divorce. There must be realization that it takes two to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Pros And Cons Of The National Airspace System 1. Introduction The National Airspace System (NAS) has been becoming busier ever since the Wright Brothers first took off and the first air mail routes were created in the early 1900s. During this day in age the NAS supports nearly 87,000 flights per day and is immensely growing as the need for transportation of goods, people, and services are constantly in demand and even growing in demand. With the introduction of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) into the NAS, the airspace is getting even more congested due to the lack of set in stone regulations from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Now that UAS are becoming more common amongst the general population, the airways are become much less predictable and much less safe, which causes a threat to the manned general aviation community. Many of the manned aircraft in the sky are non cooperative, meaning the pilot has no way of complying with air traffic control directions or contains the equipment needed to see other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the biggest disadvantages that ICAO states in their report is that the only source for pinpointing the aircraft location is GPS, which is not a good way to ensure that the position is accurate. It is also not good because the system does not have any back up way to find the position. Stated in the ADS B Radar patent, a big disadvantage is that because of the need to use GPS with ADS B, the possibility of jamming that could ruin the DAA capability between cooperative aircraft. While this is a disadvantage, the FAA should be able to reduce the likelihood of inaccurate positions by enforcing regulation that could be put forth. Another way to compensate for the loss of GPS is that the ADS B Radar patent describes how it can modify the system by adding a radar processor thus making the ADS B also act as a primary radar system for detecting non cooperative ... Whale Rider Culture Good Morning year 8, today I am going to be talking to you about Maori culture and what I have done in the film whale rider to try and show the culture using different film techniques. In scene one it starts of as we have the little girl walking along the road chanting a traditional Maori chant and doing the actions that represent the song. I have used an eye level shot as it clearly shows her whole upper body and the actions can be clearly seen. To get to the next clip I use a cut as it is the same scene but from a different angle. The angle has the girl positioned far away but still In focus with the background blurred suggesting that I want you to focus on the girl. The next scene you see a Maori figure from a story and you have it filmed at an low angled shot, this emphasis the figure and as it is painted a darker colour it stand out against the light background. As it zooms out on the shed you see some designs that are Maori culture patterns that represent the whale rider and the story of Pakei. Synthesis Essay on Indocumented Immigrants in the US In my ENC 1101 class, we were required to go through several of processes to map out the formula of writing our final assignment in our class: a synthesis essay. The most imperative part of our assignment was to choose a synthesis essay question on a list that our professor gave us. The second most vital ingredient in the formula was to choose two texts from our Allyn Bacon Guide to Writing book which would be the backbone of our synthesis essay that we would have to expand on and create our own ideas from. The question that I choose to further my vague knowledge on immigration was: What should the United States do to make progress in solving the problem of undocumented immigration? Seeing the many sides of the immigration conflict, I believe the Congress should allow undocumented immigrants to live in America, but they must show that they are an asset to America. Despite the fact that Williams writes for a call to action for the resolution of immigration in the United States, his article is a blog article written for his blog followers. Williams article is not intended for scholarly audiences, while Hanson s article is. Hanson s article is published on the History News Network, which requires great thought and reviewing, whereas Williams is just required to write an article and post on the Huffington Post in his profile, without an editor to review the contents of the article. Williams is free to voice his opinion in whichever language he desires due to it being a blog article, and Hanson is not. However, due to this being so, Hanson s article proves to more credible that Williams article, especially due to the fact that Hanson is a military historian and political essayist. But, Williams article provides pathos in his article by including a personal anecdote in the introduction of it. The anecdote transcends the article to his purpose of explaining the political part of the immigration issue, making his standpoint and call to action clear. But then again, Hanson writes with logos, making his readers look ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Christian Sociological Model Paper The social landscape of the U.S. may naturally be an organic development. Society develops as areas of influence rise and fall over time. Frequently these areas of influence are internal, but at times they also are external. This is especially true as society becomes more aware of international developments and an economy becomes increasingly global, or a society engages activities not originally held as part of the original society. However, there are other parts of society that may hold deeper influence, such as religion, political activities, and family structures. These areas also influence each other, and in different ways depending on the society and time in history. In other words, society can be defined by those that are part of it. ... For the purpose of this research, the definition of Christianity was held in light of God s people operating under Biblically held motives and principles, or anticipating the ultimate reality that there will be a new heaven and earth where humans will be raised from the dead as the renewed world s rulers and priests (Wright, 2010, p. 67). This is achieved through kingdom establishing work of Jesus and the Spirit, which we grasp by faith, participate in by baptism, and live out in love ; through the Spirit led, habit forming, truly human practice of faith, hope, and love, sustaining Christians in their calling to worship God and reflect his glory into the world.
