the Jews there were waiting to take his life. But when the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles was near, Jesus

Sy Montgomery s Deep Intellect
In the article Deep Intellect by Sy Montgomery, he traveled to the New England Aquarium to meet an
octopus named Athena and learn her thought processes. She was an enormous creature that could shift
shapes and colors while releasing a venomous ink, yet he believed there was more to it than that.
Montgomery knew that octopuses were invertebrates so he assumed they couldn t possibly have a bit
of intelligence. However, researchers came to conclusions that they experience feelings and are
intelligent like us. One day when he was with Athena, he touched her and entered the parallel worlds
they live in. Slowly their eyes met and she grasped onto him with her suckers to greet him. As he
rubbed her, he noticed a transformation in her color as she

industry. Walter Shewart developed his first statistical theory about quality control. He made his first
sketch of a modern control chart, which is later on, developed by Deming in the 1940 s. It was the first
time when this statistical theory began to be applied to manufacturing process. However there was
little use of these techniques till the beginning of 1950 s.
By the last midcentury, the demand of quality control was highly increasing due to the raise of mass
production. The techniques of the quality control became strongly important and required during the
1940 s and 1950 s.
At the same time, Japanese people recognized the importance of quality management. They started to
implement quality management practices in their industry by the 1950 s. A decade later, Japan started
to export products to USA and Europe which was cheaper and higher in quality, compared to western
products.
Consumers worldwide relied on Japanese products as higher quality and cheaper price comparing to
western products. North American considered japan as serious threat to their industry and realized the
magnitude of quality management. Figure 1 illustrates the difference between Japanese quality

English Comp II Reflection
Reflective Paper As I reflect on English Comp II 112, I have a variety of mixed emotions about this. I
was unsure of the class at first, for many reasons. My very first day I remember leaving the J off my
professor s name and I just knew it would be a downward spiral after that. To me, writing was
something I loved to do but I had a difficult time putting my thoughts into words and organizing my
paper. Usually, once I typed my introduction I thought my thoughts would just flow from that point,
but they never did. Never the less, I kept striving to have a great paper. In the beginning, I was anxious
to begin my first assignment since I had done so well in English Comp I, I thought, how hard would
English Comp II be? Let s just say, Comp

Multiple events surrounding the Declaration of Independence, have influenced many to help transform
our modern day government.
Author of the Declaration of Independence Thomas Jefferson was a leading figure, in America s early

Testing Imtroduction The testing stage is a basic bit of programming progression .It is the path toward
finding process and missing operations moreover a whole affirmation to make sense of if the
objectives are met and the customer need are satisfied. (Referenced from Software Engineering A

primary consolidates unit testing, where in each module is attempted to give its exactness, authenticity

noted down and corrected in a split second. Unit testing is the vital and critical part of the wander, so
errors are changed successfully particularly module and program clarity is extended. In this wander

Barriers Of Communication In Communication
A business setting requires that the people concerned communicate effectively with each other in order
to reduce negative consequences that would be as a result of misunderstanding or damaged
relationship. There are many barriers that would hinder any business communication process. These
includes cliché, jargon, slang, sexist and racist language, euphemism, double speak. This essay briefly
described these barriers to communication in a business setting.
Cliché is a barrier of communication because it entails the use of once clever word or phrase that has
lost its impact through overuse (McLean, 2010, p.58). An example of a cliché would be this is just but
the wars of cats and dogs . In a business setting, the use of a cliché would undermined the seriousness
with which the meeting at hand is handled. When it is used carelessly, the quorum may find it silly or
boring and that may cause the listeners to ignore the message they are intended to pass. When this
happens, then a cliché becomes an obstacle to the effectiveness of communication.
Jargon on the other hand is the use of words which may not be familiar to everyone but to only those
who frequently use it for instance the people in the same profession. An example of this would be
Ceasar Pass to mean a kind of pass in soccer. Assuming that jargons are used in a business setting to
audience who do not understand their specific meanings, do you think the message will be passed
effectively? It may be irritating when someone

Owl City Interview
Writer: Jessica Morris Category: Interview Title: Owl City: Just a day at a time Body: For one of the
most well known electro pop artists in the world, Owl City s Adam Young is definitely humble. As
soon as I asked him about his latest album Mobile Orchestra, the 29 year old turned my attention to
the myriad of duets on studio album number three. It s actually taken me quite a bit longer to make
this album than it has to make any of my earlier albums, probably just due to the fact that this album
has so many different collaborations and so many different vocal features on it, he shares with PPcorn.
It felt so good to get everybody on the same page and to have everyone contribute, and again, I feel so
lucky to have all of these collaborations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s so cool for me to meet those people out and about, it makes things like that so fulfilling, just to
write music and just to be honest, shares Young. Still living in the mid west, Young maintains a fairly
normal life considering he has sold over 2.5 million albums. I still live in a small town, I still live in
the area that I grew up in. In a lot of ways life is not very different now than it was before I started to
do music and gained some sort of success. It s always a little bit weird when I come out with a new
album and suddenly there are all these opportunities to do interviews and to do press, and to play
music live, and to do all these things.... I didn t move to LA or New York, I didn t do that whole kind
of route. So everything is still pretty normal for me, but strange. But it s very cool, it s strange in the
best way that I can describe I guess, so I m very happy. So after all his work on Mobile Orchestra,
what does Young want his listeners to take away from it? It s always easy to forget that there s
probably scenarios and situations in everybody s life that are sad and that are scary, that nobody else

The Culture Of The Italian Culture
The Description The cultural group I decided to gain more insight on through this experience was the
Italian culture. Explain history and describe! The immersion experiences in which I participated were
great opportunities to learn about the culture in more depth. The first experience I was able to attend
was on June 13, 2015. In downtown Indianapolis Indiana, I had the opportunity to attend the Italian
Culture Festival. Organized each year by the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, this festival was full of
music, cultural food, and I was lucky enough to experience a traditional Italian religious procession
and Mass (Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). The festival was packed with people from the city
and from the Italian culture. I had never experienced a festival such as the one held in Indianapolis.
Being from the east coast and not of the Italian culture, the festival was a refreshing yet,
uncomfortable experience at times. I observed a traditional dance, the tarantella and those around the
area all seemed to know most of the steps or the words to some of the songs in the set they played.
The locals tried to get me to dance along but, I could not keep up with them on the fly. The tarantella
is one of the most famous of Italian dances and performers dance quickly to an upbeat song (Holy
Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). It is said that the performers sweat out the poison of a deadly tarantula
and the dance could last for hours and could be religious in nature to some.

Success Arts education in public schools is a very valuable asset to helping students become a well
rounded life long learner. The arts are core subjects in the Federal Elementary and Secondary
Education Act, and the NC Basic Education Program, and, as such, are included as core subjects every
student should learn as part of a balanced curriculum for all children in North Carolina, in short they
are considered essential (North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, 2011). Because the state
budget has eliminated so many vital areas of the public school budget the arts instructional supplies
and value of the arts overall have come under careful legislative scrutiny. States all over America are
limiting arts instruction and some have eliminated programs due to high stakes testing and public
funding shortfalls. Arts education encompasses three main areas. Vocal and instrumental based
including; choral music, band, orchestra, and music appreciation; Performance based including theater
arts, dance, dance and theater arts appreciation; and Visual based to include visual and studio arts, art
appreciation and art history. Through research on the value of arts education in studies throughout

The Organization s Goal At The Thrift Store
I was fortunate to be a part of the Salvation Army, where I was provided with the opportunity to
volunteer at the Thrift store. The organization s goal is to provide a way for people in the society to
purchase donated clothes, toys, books, and household furniture s at extremely low prices enable to
produce funds to support many other ministries, programs, services including food banks, shelters,
children s camps, addiction treatment accommodations and charities for the community s most
vulnerable citizens. Their mission is to not only meet human needs but also driven to share the love of
Jesus Christ, and be a transforming impact in the communities. The association s vision is to be a
functioning and thriving modern day model of William Booth s who is the founder of the Salvation
Army through which the banished and excluded of society will be refreshed and restored by way of
meeting their practical needs. (Podkalicka, 2012) This organization values every costumer equally
with respect, reach out and care for them. It also promotes the dignity of all persons. The Salvation
Army Thrift stores provide a clean and professional atmosphere for the buyers. Furthermore, the
compassionate staff and volunteers foster teamwork and partnerships for others to emulate as shown
when they are replenishing stock, organizing products, hanging clothes and merchandising. All
genders and ages are welcome to shop and deliver dignity and grace to children, families and

Photojournalism is Subjective NOT Objective Essay
Photojournalism has long been considered to have a tradition of reflecting the truth. It has been a
major element in newspaper and magazine reporting since the early 20th century. It was probably only
about a century ago when people believed that what they saw in photographs was factual. This impact
of visual image as seen by the viewer was based on the old belief that the camera never lies . Wheeler
says that photojournalism has acquired a special standing in the public mind, a confidence that photo
can reflect reality in a uniquely compelling and credible way. (Wheeler T, 2002, p. 3) This acquisition
is formed by a creation of a powerful picture, which is the combination of both truthfulness and visual
impact. In general, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Photos are just recorded information and how it is presented is actually based on individual
interpretation by the photographers themselves. It is not absolute reality because the viewers
themselves are not there to witness the event; therefore it is not entirely factual. The meaning of a
photo illustration is also dependent on viewers individual views and assumption. As the old metaphor
says, is the glass of milk half full or half empty?
Gatekeepers such as publishers and the government play a role in photo manipulation. As Newton
(Newton J, 2001, pg. 74) suggests that those who tend the gates of reportage tend power . These
people are the ones who decide what the public ‘needs to know , what is ‘appropriate , what is
‘news and also what the public needs to ‘see . Gatekeepers as such must answer questions like: Will
publishing a picture of the body of a drowning victim prevent others from drowning at the same spot,
or will it only exploit a tragic situation to sell newspapers? (Newton J, 2001)
Another significant reason that has played a vital role in photojournalism of recent times is the
emergence of imaging technologies. Imaging technologies has undoubtedly played a major part in the
works of a photojournalist today. Based on earlier accounts on how photography itself is an inherent
manipulation, the question is no longer directed on ‘how has imaging technologies manipulate
photojournalism but ‘how much more has imaging

Module 11 Psychology
The More I Learned, the More Interested I got in psychology. Module after module I was getting more
and more interested. Unit 3,and especially Module 11 grabbed my attention the most. Module 11
discusses stages of memory and memory processes. This module answers the most important
questions: How our memory works? and How we are influenced by our memories? .
One reaction paper wouldn t be enough for me to share my thoughts and point the most important
parts of this chapter, but I will try to. The three stages model divides memory into three sequential
stages: sensory, short term, and long term memory (R.C. Atkinson Shiffrin, 1968) (Plotnik and
Kouyoumdjian 240).
It all comes to the point, whether you pay attention to information. Only if you pay attention to
information, then it will be transferred into the short term memory from sensory memory, otherwise
you would forget it. Now if you pay attention to the information in short term memory, then it would
be encoded and transferred into the long term memory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is incredible that false memories can be implanted through suggestions alone! I find it to be amazing
how such suggestion can grow into a detailed memory! I found online that False memory research
over the last few decades has also shown that diverse samples of people, and indeed animals, are
vulnerable to memory distortion. The historical roots of debates regarding false memory formation
might be useful to disseminate to the general public, who might encounter highly critical information
about false memory research on the Internet . If in the future people will continue doing researches on
false memories, this could lead to memory

The Debate On Death Penalty
The debate on death penalty In her book Last Words From Death Row: The Walls Unit, Norma
Herrera writes about the tribulations she and her family went through while trying to free her brother,
Leonel, from the death row. Despite showing glaring and overwhelming evidence claiming his
innocence, Leonel was sentenced to death for a crime that he did not commit. His last words to the
world were, I am innocent, innocent, innocent. I am an innocent man, and something very wrong is
taking place tonight. (Herrera) Those who support the death row, however, would score Herrera for
her attempt to bring light to this sensitive issue, and call her words an excessively emphatic exultation
to bring attention away from the crime itself. They would argue that a person who took another s life
should not be allowed to keep his own. The death penalty is an issue more complicated than any
debate that the country has ever seen. Despite the long debates and the rehashed concepts that are
presented to the media almost every day, there is but one truth that defines the issue: there is no way to
look at the death penalty in black and white. Where on one hand, it ventures into immoral territory due
to the obvious murder involved. On the other hand, though, the act is justified by calling it justice or
retribution. Words like revenge, good, cruel and inhumane pop up, but they do little to cast any
importance on the debate: we cannot look at the death penalty with the expectations to reach a final

Organ Donation In The United States
There are more than 120,000 people in the United States that are waiting for a life saving organ
transplant each year. Of that number, many are hoping for one or more of the five organs that can be
donated while a person is still alive. Organ donation is the removal of a person s organ or partial
organ, so another person can use it. Donating an organ while alive can save up to eight lives, and it
can be done by people donating their organs out of the goodness of their heart. Unfortunately not all
organs are donated for the right reasons. Therefore, the selling of organs should continue to be banned
in the United States because it would result in health not always being the determining factor.

citizens should be allowed to be legally paid for the donation of their organs. Less than 17,000
patients, out of the 77,000 Americans on the waiting lists for a kidney, got a transplant in 2012. There
were 4,903 patients that died while waiting for a kidney (Linde [17]). This shows that there is a big
shortage of organs, but there are other ways to eliminate or at least reduce that problem. For instance,
a new algorithm was created that is capable of matching donors to patients who need a kidney
efficiently. It was created by Tuomas Sandholm and Avrim Blum, two computer science professors,
and David J. Abraham, a graduate student in the computer science department. Sandholm and Pranjal
Awasthi, a graduate student in the machine learning department, are working on developing newer
versions of the algorithm to better the program. The project has shown that it can work and be
effective in the medical community so far. Ten people successfully received transplants through the
chain that started using the algorithm, according to the New England Journal of Medicine (The Tartan,
Carnegie Mellon University). There are other programs like this that can be used to match patients
with organs more efficiently. This could potentially help the organ donation rate rise due to people
realizing how efficient the process can

The Noble Truth Of Suffering
All human beings suffer. There are many forms of suffering that effect individuals lives. Suffering has
to come from somewhere, and Buddhists use the Four Noble Truths to explain what suffering is and
where it comes from. The Four Noble Truths are the doctrines of Buddha. These truths explain the
way to the purification of beings (Walsh, 335). The First Noble Truth is the Noble Truth of Suffering.
Maurice Walshe, the main editor of The Long Discourses of the Buddha, helps explore the Noble
Truth of Suffering in the Mahasatipatthana Sutta: The Greater Discourse on the Foundations of
Mindfulness . This paper will focus on the Noble Truth of Suffering, which explains that life is
suffering, there are different types of suffering, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are three main types of dukkha, everyday dukkha, dukkha from the experience of change, and
dukkha from resisting change. Each of these categories contains different types of suffering that affect
individuals on different levels. Everyday dukkha is the suffering that individuals experience in the
normal course of the day. It is suffering in terms of stress, irritation, pain and other ordinary emotions
and strains on life (Jeffreys, 2/11). When a student is stressing out about studying for an exam, the
student is experiencing everyday dukkha. The other two categories revolve around the Buddhist belief
that there is constant change and change is suffering (Jeffreys, 2/11). Dukkha from the experience of
change is never ending; it is inevitable. This is a type of cycle; everything is always going to change.
Under this broad category of suffering, there is change from a family member leaving home to
walking out into the cold (Jeffreys, 2/11). It is any type of change, large or small. Often times these
changes are ones that people consider miniscule. A very relatable example of this would be when an
individual sits in the same seat every day, and one day the individual is forced to change seats. In the
Buddhist explanation this is dukkha; this is suffering. The third type of suffering is dukkha from the
resistance of change. Humans are creatures of habit.

Assess The Importance Of Feedback In Student Education
Reporting to both students and parents/carers is an important skill and part of being a teacher.
Reporting to students in the form of feedback is a critical element of the learning cycle. Incorporating
a range of effective strategies for providing students with feedback can advance students
understanding and development. Lacing instruction with correctional feedback will result in the
production of new instruction (Hattie Timperley, 2007, p.82). The combination of instruction and
feedback gives students the next step they need to take to develop a deeper understanding. For
feedback to provide any meaning to students it must link to the task at hand and be provided in a
timely manner. Sadler, as cited in Hattie and Timperley (2007, p.82) point out that feedback should
provide students with a stepping stone from what they understand to what is to be understood. The

Parents/carers are also invested in the development of student education. The aspects of their child s
education that parents/carers are interested in are the progress they are making, their strengths and
weaknesses, their development in comparison to other children and what they can do at home to help
(Cohen et al., as cited in Kivunja, 2015, p.385). It is the teachers responsibility to keep parents/carers
informed and attend to any concerns they may have. In addition to mid year and end of year reports
there are a number of strategies teachers can take to keep parents/carers informed. Readman and Allen
(2013, p.159) have identified a phone call or letter home, or an entry into a student diary that is to be
sighted and signed off by a parent/carer as some effective strategies to report students progress. It is
important for teachers to communicate through these strategies to keep parents/carers aware of their
child s progress and there are no surprises when reports are sent

The Theory of Reconsolidation
The Theory of Reconsolidation What is it and how can it impact on our lives?
Learning is a very important aspect of humans and creatures alike. Not only is it essential to the
survival and adaption into this world but it also defines who we are as individuals (Schiller et al, 2010;
Tronson Taylor, 2007). Memories from past experiences shape the people that we are today. A crucial
element to learning is memory, without it we would not be able to retain information. The process of
memory is very distinct and consists of several different stages: acquisition of memory, consolidation,
retrieval and then either reconsolidation or extinction (Debiec Ledoux, 2004; Diergaarde,
Schoffelmeer De Vries, 2008). As memory is such a critical aspect of learning, it is no wonder that its
distinct process has become the topic of much research in the neurobiological universe (Hupbach et al,
2007; Nader Hardt, 2009).
After a new memory is learnt, it enters the process of encoding during which the memory is labile and
capable of disruption until it becomes stabilised over a period of time (Nader Einarsson, 2010; Nader
et al, 2000). This process is called consolidation and originally consisted of the theory that once
stabilised in the brain, it remains fixed (Suzuki et al, 2004). This theory has been rebutted by the
acceptance of reconsolidation, a theory that imposes the ideology that when memories are retrieved,
through similar experiences (Lee, 2009), they become labile until,

What Was The Use Of Electric Currents In The 1800 s
The basis of modern day electrical systems were all derived over a quarrel involving the light bulb, the
electric chair, and a 28 year old Croatian immigrant. This dispute involved three of the biggest and
most prominent names in the history of electrical engineering: Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, and
George Westinghouse, who were all scientists and innovators who lived during the late 1800s. Edison
and Tesla would get into a quite large argument over the best and most efficient kind of electrical

He took the profits from his inventions and put them towards a company where he could sell
electricity to America (King). Before long, Edison had become a large business mogul with the only
large electric company in the nation. He was popular with the public, unlike his rival Nikola Tesla and
used this to his advantage during the war . He used this popularity to promote DC over AC and spread
propaganda about Tesla and his ideas (Lantero). Edison spread rumors such as that Tesla was working
for a secret German agency, or that he had killed his own mother (Willis). Most of these rumors were
dismissed as false, but a suspicion of Tesla still grew. Edison also tried to sabotage Westinghouse,
Tesla s ally, as well. Westinghouse had a firm and public belief that alternating currents were better
than direct currents, so Edison used that against him. Edison created a chair that alternating currents
could flow through and into the person sitting in it: the first electric chair (King). He stated that AC
was dangerous and should be discontinued (King). Edison even electrocuted a circus elephant named
Topsy to show how fatal it could be (Willis). He then created a term that described death by electric
chair. The term Westinghousing came to mean dying or killing by electrocution, especially in the
electric chair. This furthered the dislike of both Tesla and Westinghouse, and made Edison s DC

Abstract
Much like the telephone or the automobile, the internet has dramatically changed the way people work
and live. Unlike the telephone or the automobile, though, the internet has single handedly led to the
creation of a relatively free space, where people around the world gather to share ideas, collaborate,
mingle, and invent a future with new possibilities that no one knew they needed today. From its
humble beginning as a relatively inexpensive lab project aimed at improving workflows to its rise
against tyranny in world affairs, a worldwide obsession with the internet has gone viral and will likely
sweep non discriminatorily to all parts of the globe. As this loosely regulated environment, also known
as Cyberspace, the Net or the Web , matures; it is the civic duty of its users to ensure that the door to
the information gateway remains open and accessible as it continues to disrupt all industry and
influence all aspects of human conditions. Introduction
The worldwide use of the internet is practically indispensible. Yet, its origin only dates back to the
early 1950s. No invention in history has grown so fast to touch so many lives. In fact, neither the
telephone nor the automobile nor the printing press has the impact of the internet on the human
civilization as a

Hamlet Is Notorious For Its Critical Theme Of Revenge

Hamlet Essay Analysis
Shakespeare s Hamlet is infamous for its critical theme of revenge. However, the constant conflict
between action vs inaction insinuates a deeper concern. For starters, Prince Hamlet frequently creates
excuses to delay his father s revenge. He is always thinking of the consequences that may result if he
proceeds with his treason instead of avenging his father. On the contrary, Laertes is quick to avenge
his father, never letting honour get in the way of his vengeance. Just as he hears the news of his father
s death, he is quick to raid Elsinore in search of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, to prove the ghost is genuine, Hamlet decides that [a] play s the thing wherein [he ll]
catch the conscience of the king, for his treason. If the King is to face his own crime in the form of a
play, then he will show remorse for his evil deed, proving that the ghost is genuine and Hamlet can
confidently avenge his father. Once again, instead of murdering the King immediately after
confirmation, Hamlet remained in the theatre discussing and reciting poems of what he had just
witnessed with others, evidently restraining from his father s revenge. In addition to this, Hamlet sees
that the King is alone in his room and states he is praying, yet he does not murder the King quite as
yet. Hamlet decides not to kill the King whilst he is praying because Claudius did not give Lord
Hamlet the chance to cleanse himself of his sins before he died. As a result, Hamlet does not want to
send an incest breeding man to heaven whilst his glorious father is suffering in purgatory. This reveals
that Hamlet is a very critical thinker; always thinking of the consequences before he acts. Instead of
ridding himself of the burden as a livid mourner would have done, he decides to live with

This leaves the new government with three key needs. As somewhere else, its capability to deliver the
targets. The main need will be to expand on its present environmental change arrangement to make a
steady, long haul approach that will lead the progress to a low outflows economy. The legislature will
have the capacity to do this through a blend of managerial activity and crossparty help. Then comes
restoration of energy market improvement through the COAG Energy Council. The third is to exploit
the gas market to its maximum value and maintain continuous supply. It requires support as these are
not one sided political issues and this requires help also from the territory and state governments.
Government should also formulate plans for dealing with the issues fast rather than just implementing
what was previously discussed. In 2016, almost 17500 GWh of renewable energy was generated
which was half of the target met. More projects are supposed to start by 2017 which will help the

Let Us Start With Brown V. Buhman
The supreme court sees generally to be ignored on the vast majority of its cases that it holds. Some
cases hold a particular interest from the public because of publicity due to the topics they address but
it is no secret that the vast majority of these cases are ignored by people in their everyday life. It can
be seen with some examples from cases like Brown v. Buhman, Spokeo v. Robbins, Fisher v.
University of Texas that the decision made in these cases can have an impact on the lives of all or
many citizens that generally ignore their outcomes holding no regard for the standings of the supreme
court. Let us start with Brown v. Buhman as the first example for why the average citizen should care
about the supreme court. This case covers an issue with the Brown family a group of polygamists
regarding a statute in Utah. This case brings up a few important things to be recognized. Primarily the
case regards standing and mootness of a case, these are both important aspects of law to understand.
For a case to continue and take place it has to be relevant and there has to be a reason for the case to
be brought up. In the case of Brown v. Buman if part of the statute was deemed unconstitutional then
the case would no longer be needed as it would solve the issue. Now although most people may feel
that on the outside an understanding of this case is irrelevant to them as it handles a case of polygamy
it holds many important considerations. One of which is free exercise

Two Point Threshold Lab Report
In this experiment, the two point threshold, or smallest separation of two points of stimulation on the
skin that are perceived as two separate impressions of touch, was measured using the method of limits.
The purpose of this experiment was to determine the participant s two point threshold on their finger,
forearm, palm, and back. The identification of the stimulus is due to a variety of somatosensation
mechanoreceptors, meaning they sense touch in response to a mechanical stimulation or pressure,
which are located all over the body. When pressure is placed upon the epidermis (outermost layer of
skin), different receptors respond to that pressure which is felt through vibrations. There are four types
of mechanoreceptors: Merkel complexes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ascending trials for each body part, with the exception of the second trial of the forearm, did not
vary far from the mean threshold. When the second trial of forearm stimulation was given to the
participant, there was a point in time (near the middle of administration) in which the experimenter
accidentally placed the dial caliber tips onto the participant s skin at two separate times. This caused
the participant to report feeling the stimulus as separate earlier than she did in the first and third
forearm trials. Because of this error, the mean two point threshold of the forearm was not as reliable as
it could have been had there been no error in the deliverance of stimuli. The purpose of this lab was, in
fact, achieved and the participant s two point threshold means were calculated. The errors of this
experiment could have been avoided by utilizing computer/mechanical stimulation as opposed to a
dial caliper. Using a machine to administer the touch would ensure that the pressures as well as the
timing and placement of each tip on the caliber were exactly the same. It is also important to note that
the temperature of the dial caliber could have had an effect of the collection of data. At various points
throughout the experiment, the participant jumped at the chilling temperature of the metal caliber.
With each startle of the participant, the experimenter had to remove and then re place the stimulus
onto the participant s skin to attempt an accurate reading. In future experiments, it is important to
standardize the pressure and placement of the stimuli to record a more accurate data set. It may also be
helpful to eliminate the variable of temperature of the caliber to the best of one s ability. As a
continuation of this study, it may strike the experimenter as intriguing to add a variable such as

Mythology And Its Impact On Society
Mythology has and always will play a huge role in a people s life. It is human nature to ask questions
and want answers. This is where mythology comes in and gives people that answers. Mythology also
can take form in religion which has been practiced over 300,000 years ago (Wise Geek, 2014). Belief,
and knowledge that a person has, has a huge impact the choices and beliefs of mythology and religion.
Even in the contemporary culture of today mythology still plays a huge role in.
Myths are a way that humans can explain the impossible or the unexplainable. Callisto and Ursa
Major is a myth that was used in the past to explain the stars and the constellations. Myths also help
people through life by giving them hope, something to believe in, or my inspiring them. An example
of a doctor telling a very sick patient that it is possible to get better or that a cure will soon be found
for their illness. Myths can be used to explain the origin of life and many other things. The bible for
example explains how lives begin on Earth.
One of the most common mythological themes across the different cultures, and throughout history is
origin of people and who created people also known as religion. The earliest evidence of religion was
300,000 years ago. It was speculated that a ritual burial site that was found from 300,000 years ago
was due to religion (Wise Geek, 2014). Two of the oldest religions are Shamanism, and Animism.
Some of the oldest religions are still practiced today.

North Carolina s Declaration Of Independence
While soldiers fought the war on the field, North Carolina s public leaders fought for independence,
too. In April 1776 North Carolina s provincial congress met at Halifax and decided to send a message

Great Britain. These Halifax Resolves were the first official action by any colony calling for a united

Congress signed the Declaration of Independence, only the spilling of much blood would settle the
matter.

But the ideal of government by the citizens and for the citizens was the fuel that fired the
revolutionary vision of a just society. It is the ideal that allows for change when the people desire

For example, in those days, only free men who owned a certain amount of property were allowed to
vote. But since then, the requirement of owning property has been dropped. Women are allowed to
vote. Slavery was abolished. Now all adult citizens of the United States (with the exception of those
who have committed serious crimes) are allowed to vote. Expanding suffrage the right to vote to a
greater number of people means that citizens have greater power over their own government.
Many Tar Heels living in 1776 would be horrified to see that everyone has the right to vote. Other

Analysis Of The Odissi Dance From Dominican Republic

Indian Dance
Due : 6 January 2017
Differences Bring You Closer
For centuries upon centuries, dance has been used as a form as expression. Whether it be religiously to
please and entertain the gods, or as a form of entertainment for the townspeople, dance has brought
joy to countless people. Because dance doesn t leave a written history trail it is assumed, but not
proven, to have originated over 2500 years ago. However, dance continues to evolve even today. Take
for example the odissi dance from India that is almost two thousand years old versus the bachata
dance from Dominican Republic that is only about 50 years old. Both of these dances originated in
complete separate parts of the world at very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Odissi dance was held to a very high esteem not only by commoners, for even royalty were expected
to be great dancers of this kind. However, as a sensual dance of great passion, love, and joy, it doesn t
come to be a great surprise that after the 17th century odissi dance took a turn for the worse. The
dancers went from being admired to being known as prostitutes and whores; it was a dark time for
odissi dance as it came very close to being extinct. Nevertheless, India Independence Day marked an
enormous change due the recognition that culture and dance was essential to unifying India once
again. Many individuals then set out to revive odissi dance for the better (Nirmal). Odissi dance has
since then taken on many different forms and has even split into three different schools: mahari,
nartaki, and gotipua. Mahari dance is the traditional form of odissi used in rituals; narthaki dance was
developed in the royal courts; and gotipua dance is the form of odissi where males wear female
costumes and assume those roles (Courtney).
One of the main differences between these dances is the purpose and symbolism. While odissi dance
has been used for entertainment it is a classical temple dance. It is used in rituals and has originally
been created for the Divine, bachata on the other hand is the complete opposite. It symbolizes freedom
from one of the worst dictatorships Dominican Republic has ever seen and a freedom of speech they

What Are The Similarities Between King James Version And...
Be very sure of this people never reject the Bible because they cannot understand it. They understand

Orphan Stories
Throughout our lives we move from one story to the next. Whether we are listeners, readers or writers

have prevailed in the literary arena for centuries, from ancient poetry, folktales, and myths to modern

of orphan as heroic figure in eighteenth century literature is commonly associated with the dawn of
the enlightenment and romanticism in the eighteenth century. Furthermore, the socio historic
explanation correlates the increasing philanthropic gestures for example the establishing of foundling
hospitals and the increased attention on the child with the rise in positive orphan figures in literature.
This literary revolution was perceived as a reflection of the rise in the care and protection of orphaned
and abandoned children, in other words an expression of social concern. This study is committed to
the eighteenth century English novel because this was when the literary orphan came to be celebrated
as a heroic figure in English literature, thus marking a notable departure from earlier representations
of the orphan.
This socio historical commentary is valid however; it disregards the fact that the novels are not
accurate portrayals of society. Important facts: first the philanthropic attitude in the novels is simply
not a reflection of the literal changes in society, the novels cannot be classified an expression of

Reality In The Allegory Of The Cave By Plato
Reality is a concept that is different to most people; it is generally what humans perceive to be true
and normal. However, in the passage The Allegory of the Cave, written by Plato, he tells about a
circumstance where the reality is not the truth. Since the beginning of time, human s ability to
understand reality is limited by their inability to prioritize, their stubbornness, and their skewed ethics.
Humans often prioritize their own wants, desires, and beliefs making it difficult for them to find
reality. Their natural desire is to be comfortable and to stick with what they know well. If they do not
feel comfortable in a situation they tend to stray away from it. Humans often resist change for this
very reason. The man that became unshackled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the people in the cave were held captive their entire life they do not know what is really out
there in the real world. When the man becomes exposed to the real world and comes back down to the
cave with the intent to spread the word to his fellow prisoners. They immediately threaten him and
shut him up; their stubborn actions caused them to remain ignorant to reality (684). This is still true in
today s society as well, many Americans would rather not know what is happening behind the curtain
and remain ignorant than know about all the wrong that is happening. Even the man that was exposed
to the outside was hesitant, he was reluctantly dragged up a steep and rugged slope to see the real

in their mind they are compelled to follow through with it for the better of society. The prisoner who
was unchained and exposed to the over world ultimately decided to go back into the cave to tell the
other prisoners about it. He basically sacrificed his freedom for the people still living in darkness

Attending A Magnet School Program Essay
Attending a magnet school which based its education in the arts I never realized how drastically
different my curriculum was than that of other middles schools. The difference went beyond middle
schools in my district or state, but affected me closer to home at my high school. In middle school,
education more frequently came from collaborative coursework rather than traditional lesson plans.
The transition to high school was difficult because it seemed that students focused on social status and
school administration focused on standardized testing scores. When looking at my education
compared to course readings, I have found that despite my two schools being in the same school
district and city, they each proposed different notions as to how schools should be ran and what makes
education valuable. Anoka, Minnesota is a northern suburb of the Twin cities. The city is home to
around seventeen thousand residents and proudly wears the name of the Halloween Capital of the
World. Anoka has 6 public schools which take residence within city; three elementary schools, two
middle schools, and one high school. Although the students from the two middle schools become one
when they enter ninth grade, what they learn in middle school is vastly different. Sandburg middle
school sits only four blocks from Fred Moore Middle School. What is going on inside the two schools,
however, is different. Sandburg, like most middle schools across the country, focuses on subject which

ABSTRACT
New materials with distinctive properties are arising and attracting the scientific community at regular
intervals. Stiffness and strength are the important factors in determining stability and lifetime of any
technological devices, but defects which are inevitable at the time of production can alter the
structural properties of any engineering materials. Developing graphene with specific structural
properties depends upon controlling these defects, either by removing or deliberately engineering
atomic structure to gain or tailoring specific properties. In the present article, a comprehensive review
of defective graphene sheets with respect to its mechanical and thermal properties are presented and
examined.
Key Words: Graphene; point defects; line defects; molecular dynamics; atomistic modeling; fracture
toughness. Introduction
Graphene is emerging as a potential candidate for developing nanocomposites with desired
mechanical properties, thermal and electrical conductivities. Due to its exceptional mechanical
properties, thermal and electrical conductivities graphene can also be used for more conventional
purposes as compared to carbon nano tubes, which is

The New Jersey Bear Hunt
When you think of the word bear what comes to mind? Some people may possible think of Yogi the
bear or Smoky the bear. However, society sets up a positive connotation for bears though in reality
they are quite aggressive animals. Since this is a reality, New Jersey along with others states set up
hunting seasons. The New Jersey bear hunt is in two different segments, A and B. Segment A is held
within October fifth to the tenth and segment B is December fifth to the tenth. In 2015 there were 472
bears killed within segment A while, 38 were killed in segment B. The bear hunt in New Jersey is
largely located in the northern counties. Bear hunting is a necessity in order to prevent the
overpopulation of the species.
Bear hunting is an extremely dangerous activity for one to partake in. There are many precautions one
must take in order to successfully kill a bear. Although bears are typically calm creatures they can
become extremely aggressive and dangerous if threatened. Therefore, one must be aware of their
surroundings at all times and ready for any encounter. Normally bears are baited using some kind of
container cut open with fruit and other strong smelling foods to draw the bears in. Though dangerous
bear hunting does also provide a considerable amount of food for a family. Those you hunt typically
do so in order to obtain the meat from the animal. A typical black bear weighs about 240 pounds on
average. Though not all of that weight is eatable much of it

White Suburbia In The 1960 s
The social and cultural movements of the 1960s began to upset the traditional norms of gender
constructs, family and social structures, racial biases, and portrayals of white suburbia that existed in
the 1950s. Many social movements were taking place in the US while the Vietnam war going on. In
early 1960 black college students in Greensboro, North Carolina sat in on a white s only lunch
counter, as similar sit ins began to happen in other southern cities too. One year later the Freedom
Rides that supported integration in transportation, started taking place on buses. In late 1963, men and
women gathered in Washington DC for a March on Washington protest where they fought for
freedom, justice and equality, and expressed concerns over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In 1964 both of these family sitcoms were introduced to us. The Munsters and Addams Family
actually critiqued the suburban family as embodied in the television sitcoms of the 1950s by
undermining its image. These shows portrayed the typical suburban family that included young kids
and family pets, as well as a mother who held the family together. They also questioned the values and
social norms of American families during the 1950s. Just like their ethnic identity, social status and
extended family structure, the Munster and Addams families made us question traditional family roles.
The women of the house break gender rules of the 1960s housewife by looking for employment
outside the home, while the men, even though they work, they always seem to be home all the time.
The shows made parts of the counterculture safe for the television audience, assuring them that being
different could also be lovable. That s why young families really enjoyed watching these shows
because they realized that it was okay to be different and still be considered normal. Both sitcoms also
offered comfort that the deviance, the not so perfect nature of real families was not really that strange

The Environmental Protection Agency ( Epa )
We live in a world where synthetic chemicals are routinely used for the production of essential
components of modern life. As more research emerges correlations are made, chemicals are tested,
and toxicants are identified, reengineered, and replaced with others equal in cause but unequal in
effect. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is the national authority tasked with this dynamic
approach. The EPA defines hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) as pollutants that are known or suspected
to cause cancer or other serious health effects, such as... damage to the immune system, as well as
neurological, reproductive... developmental, respiratory and other health problems (About Air Toxics,
2015). Potential sources range from volcanic eruptions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fugitive emissions include equipment leaks, evaporative losses from surface impoundments and spills,
and releases from building ventilation systems (Release Reports, 2015). Point Source air emissions,
also called stack air are emissions that occur through confined air streams such as stack, vent, ducts, or
pipes (Release Reports, 2015). This paper will hereafter discuss HAPs in Boulder, Colorado where I
was born. Boulder County is home to an estimated 313,333 people with a median age of 28.7.
Furthermore, 5% of people are below age 5, 20.3% are below age 18, and 12.2% of people are 65 or
older. There are 405.6 people per square mile but that number jumps to 3987.4 in city limits. 90.8% of
the population is white. 2.42 people on average occupy any given home, the median household
income is $67,956 and 14.2% of people are living below poverty. Lastly, 11.23% of people are
uninsured (State and County Quick Facts, 2015). Boulder is over 5300 feet above sea level with an
arid, sunny climate. The Rocky Mountains provide a backdrop that beckons residents to explore either
by skiing, biking, hiking, kayaking, fishing, or more. Toluene is the seventh largest fugitive air
emission in the greater Denver area. In 2014 the EPA estimated that 22,906 pounds were released not
through a confined air stream, and an additional 65,805 pounds were released through a confined

The Robilization Of The Nazi Movement In The Early 1920 s
Since the mobilization of the Nazi movement in the early 1920 s the idea of a genetically pure Aryan
race was adopted into the German psyche. In the German ideology pure isn t someone that is a

Nazi controlled areas. If a person is seen as any of these they had to undergo sterilization, but most of
these people s faite was death. The Nazis did this to purify the Third Reich and make sure that
Germany was truly a pure Aryan nation. Through Nazi laws, Hitler imposed his ideas on sterilization,
he did not go through this without some opposition from the people of Germany that saw this as

Their Eye s Were Watching God- Janie s Self Realization
Janie s Self Realization: Facts and Disputes Janie, in Their Eyes were Watching God by Zora Neale
Hurston, was a unique individual; as a half white, half black girl growing up in Florida in the early
1930 s, a lifetime of trials and search for understanding was set for her from the start. As the main
character she sought to finally find herself, true love, and have a meaningful life. Growing up, in
itself, provides a perfect opportunity for finding that essential state of self realization and ideal
comfort. Michael G. Cooke reviews Their Eyes Were Watching God in his article The Beginnings of
Self Realization ; within the article it is falsely criticized that every time Janie is negatively impacted

Jody told her to dress up and stand in the store all that evening (Hurston 58). That must ve been Jody
Starks most said command to Janie throughout her marriage. He only used her because she was so
pretty, and didn t want much more. Being proud of Janie as his wife, the mayor s pretty wife, he
himself built the image for Janie as trophy wife . Becoming an image herself looking in the mirror was
an obvious and physical change seen in the story. Ah ain t been sleepin so good for more n uh week
cause Ah been wishin so bad tuh git mah hands in yo hair. It s so pretty (Hurston 124). Letting loose
her hair and Tea Cake telling her how pretty she was marked a new beginning for her and a time for a
new image. Seeing herself in a new way, the mirror and Tea Cake helped her realize that she is a
beautiful woman and she can be much better if she tried. Mirrors are always used to analyze oneself to
be pleased, or to be displeased so you can adjust. In Janie s case however, she was surprised to see
herself again and approved of her new, yet not so new self. Representing many ideas and being that
image looked upon, it s clear to say that Janie indeed has been attached herself to images as well as
becoming one herself. The imagery shown throughout the book was physically and figuratively there
with the photograph, idea of a trophy wife, and the mirror. The development of the images throughout
the story helped show Janie s progression. Being

She was an enormous creature that could shift shapes and colors while releasing a venomous ink, yet he believed there was more to it than that. Montgomery knew that octopuses were invertebrates so he assumed they couldn t possibly have a bit of intelligence. However, researchers came to conclusions that they experience feelings and are intelligent like us. One day when he was with Athena, he touched her and entered the parallel worlds they live in. • 10. Barriers Of Communication In Communication A business setting requires that the people concerned communicate effectively with each other in order to reduce negative consequences that would be as a result of misunderstanding or damaged relationship. There are many barriers that would hinder any business communication process. These includes cliché, jargon, slang, sexist and racist language, euphemism, double speak. This essay briefly described these barriers to communication in a business setting. Cliché is a barrier of communication because it entails the use of once clever word or phrase that has lost its impact through overuse (McLean, 2010, p.58). An example of a cliché would be this is just but the wars of cats and dogs . In a business setting, the use of a cliché would undermined the seriousness with which the meeting at hand is handled. When it is used carelessly, the quorum may find it silly or boring and that may cause the listeners to ignore the message they are intended to pass. When this happens, then a cliché becomes an obstacle to the effectiveness of communication. Jargon on the other hand is the use of words which may not be familiar to everyone but to only those who frequently use it for instance the people in the same profession. An example of this would be Ceasar Pass to mean a kind of pass in soccer. Assuming that jargons are used in a business setting to audience who do not understand their specific meanings, do you think the message will be passed effectively? As soon as I asked him about his latest album Mobile Orchestra, the 29 year old turned my attention to the myriad of duets on studio album number three. It s actually taken me quite a bit longer to make this album than it has to make any of my earlier albums, probably just due to the fact that this album has so many different collaborations and so many different vocal features on it, he shares with PPcorn. In a lot of ways life is not very different now than it was before I started to do music and gained some sort of success. It s always a little bit weird when I come out with a new album and suddenly there are all these opportunities to do interviews and to do press, and to play music live, and to do all these things.... I didn t move to LA or New York, I didn t do that whole kind of route. So everything is still pretty normal for me, but strange. But it s very cool, it s strange in the best way that I can describe I guess, so I m very happy. So after all his work on Mobile Orchestra, what does Young want his listeners to take away from it? • 12. The Culture Of The Italian Culture The Description The cultural group I decided to gain more insight on through this experience was the Italian culture. Explain history and describe! The immersion experiences in which I participated were great opportunities to learn about the culture in more depth. The first experience I was able to attend was on June 13, 2015. In downtown Indianapolis Indiana, I had the opportunity to attend the Italian Culture Festival. Organized each year by the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, this festival was full of music, cultural food, and I was lucky enough to experience a traditional Italian religious procession and Mass (Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). The festival was packed with people from the city and from the Italian culture. I had never experienced a festival such as the one held in Indianapolis. Being from the east coast and not of the Italian culture, the festival was a refreshing yet, uncomfortable experience at times. I observed a traditional dance, the tarantella and those around the area all seemed to know most of the steps or the words to some of the songs in the set they played. The locals tried to get me to dance along but, I could not keep up with them on the fly. The tarantella is one of the most famous of Italian dances and performers dance quickly to an upbeat song (Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). It is said that the performers sweat out the poison of a deadly tarantula and the dance could last for hours and could be religious in nature to some. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Arts Education Impact On Academic Success Arts Education Impact on Academic Success James Travis Gentry Concordia University A Research Report Presented toThe Graduate Program in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements For the Degree of Masters in Education Concordia University Portland 2015 Arts Education Impact on Academic Success Arts education in public schools is a very valuable asset to helping students become a well rounded life long learner. The arts are core subjects in the Federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act, and the NC Basic Education Program, and, as such, are included as core subjects every student should learn as part of a balanced curriculum for all children in North Carolina, in short they are considered essential (North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, 2011). Because the state budget has eliminated so many vital areas of the public school budget the arts instructional supplies and value of the arts overall have come under careful legislative scrutiny. States all over America are limiting arts instruction and some have eliminated programs due to high stakes testing and public funding shortfalls. Arts education encompasses three main areas. Vocal and instrumental based including; choral music, band, orchestra, and music appreciation; Performance based including theater arts, dance, dance and theater arts appreciation; and Visual based to include visual and studio arts, art appreciation and art history. • 15. Photojournalism is Subjective NOT Objective Essay Photojournalism has long been considered to have a tradition of reflecting the truth. It has been a major element in newspaper and magazine reporting since the early 20th century. It was probably only about a century ago when people believed that what they saw in photographs was factual. This impact of visual image as seen by the viewer was based on the old belief that the camera never lies . Wheeler says that photojournalism has acquired a special standing in the public mind, a confidence that photo can reflect reality in a uniquely compelling and credible way. (Wheeler T, 2002, p. 3) This acquisition is formed by a creation of a powerful picture, which is the combination of both truthfulness and visual impact. In general, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Photos are just recorded information and how it is presented is actually based on individual interpretation by the photographers themselves. It is not absolute reality because the viewers themselves are not there to witness the event; therefore it is not entirely factual. The meaning of a photo illustration is also dependent on viewers individual views and assumption. As the old metaphor says, is the glass of milk half full or half empty? Gatekeepers such as publishers and the government play a role in photo manipulation. As Newton (Newton J, 2001, pg. 74) suggests that those who tend the gates of reportage tend power . These people are the ones who decide what the public ‘needs to know , what is ‘appropriate , what is ‘news and also what the public needs to ‘see . Gatekeepers as such must answer questions like: Will publishing a picture of the body of a drowning victim prevent others from drowning at the same spot, or will it only exploit a tragic situation to sell newspapers? (Newton J, 2001) Another significant reason that has played a vital role in photojournalism of recent times is the emergence of imaging technologies. Imaging technologies has undoubtedly played a major part in the works of a photojournalist today. Based on earlier accounts on how photography itself is an inherent manipulation, the question is no longer directed on ‘how has imaging technologies manipulate photojournalism but ‘how much more has imaging ... One reaction paper wouldn t be enough for me to share my thoughts and point the most important parts of this chapter, but I will try to. The three stages model divides memory into three sequential stages: sensory, short term, and long term memory (R.C. Atkinson Shiffrin, 1968) (Plotnik and Kouyoumdjian 240). It all comes to the point, whether you pay attention to information. Only if you pay attention to information, then it will be transferred into the short term memory from sensory memory, otherwise you would forget it. Now if you pay attention to the information in short term memory, then it would be encoded and transferred into the long term memory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 18. The Debate On Death Penalty The debate on death penalty In her book Last Words From Death Row: The Walls Unit, Norma Herrera writes about the tribulations she and her family went through while trying to free her brother, Leonel, from the death row. Despite showing glaring and overwhelming evidence claiming his innocence, Leonel was sentenced to death for a crime that he did not commit. His last words to the world were, I am innocent, innocent, innocent. I am an innocent man, and something very wrong is taking place tonight. (Herrera) Those who support the death row, however, would score Herrera for her attempt to bring light to this sensitive issue, and call her words an excessively emphatic exultation to bring attention away from the crime itself. They would argue that a person who took another s life should not be allowed to keep his own. The death penalty is an issue more complicated than any debate that the country has ever seen. Despite the long debates and the rehashed concepts that are presented to the media almost every day, there is but one truth that defines the issue: there is no way to look at the death penalty in black and white. Where on one hand, it ventures into immoral territory due to the obvious murder involved. On the other hand, though, the act is justified by calling it justice or retribution. Words like revenge, good, cruel and inhumane pop up, but they do little to cast any importance on the debate: we cannot look at the death penalty with the expectations to reach a final ... • 19. Organ Donation In The United States There are more than 120,000 people in the United States that are waiting for a life saving organ transplant each year. Of that number, many are hoping for one or more of the five organs that can be donated while a person is still alive. Organ donation is the removal of a person s organ or partial organ, so another person can use it. Donating an organ while alive can save up to eight lives, and it can be done by people donating their organs out of the goodness of their heart. Unfortunately not all organs are donated for the right reasons. Therefore, the selling of organs should continue to be banned in the United States because it would result in health not always being the determining factor. Less than 17,000 patients, out of the 77,000 Americans on the waiting lists for a kidney, got a transplant in 2012. There were 4,903 patients that died while waiting for a kidney (Linde [17]). This shows that there is a big shortage of organs, but there are other ways to eliminate or at least reduce that problem. For instance, a new algorithm was created that is capable of matching donors to patients who need a kidney efficiently. It was created by Tuomas Sandholm and Avrim Blum, two computer science professors, and David J. Abraham, a graduate student in the computer science department. Sandholm and Pranjal Awasthi, a graduate student in the machine learning department, are working on developing newer versions of the algorithm to better the program. The project has shown that it can work and be effective in the medical community so far. Ten people successfully received transplants through the chain that started using the algorithm, according to the New England Journal of Medicine (The Tartan, Carnegie Mellon University). There are other programs like this that can be used to match patients with organs more efficiently. Suffering has to come from somewhere, and Buddhists use the Four Noble Truths to explain what suffering is and where it comes from. The Four Noble Truths are the doctrines of Buddha. These truths explain the way to the purification of beings (Walsh, 335). The First Noble Truth is the Noble Truth of Suffering. There are three main types of dukkha, everyday dukkha, dukkha from the experience of change, and dukkha from resisting change. Each of these categories contains different types of suffering that affect individuals on different levels. Everyday dukkha is the suffering that individuals experience in the normal course of the day. It is suffering in terms of stress, irritation, pain and other ordinary emotions and strains on life (Jeffreys, 2/11). When a student is stressing out about studying for an exam, the student is experiencing everyday dukkha. The other two categories revolve around the Buddhist belief that there is constant change and change is suffering (Jeffreys, 2/11). Dukkha from the experience of change is never ending; it is inevitable. This is a type of cycle; everything is always going to change. Under this broad category of suffering, there is change from a family member leaving home to walking out into the cold (Jeffreys, 2/11). It is any type of change, large or small. Often times these changes are ones that people consider miniscule. A very relatable example of this would be when an individual sits in the same seat every day, and one day the individual is forced to change seats. In the Buddhist explanation this is dukkha; this is suffering. The third type of suffering is dukkha from the resistance of change. Humans are creatures of habit. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reporting to students in the form of feedback is a critical element of the learning cycle. Incorporating a range of effective strategies for providing students with feedback can advance students understanding and development. Lacing instruction with correctional feedback will result in the production of new instruction (Hattie Timperley, 2007, p.82). The combination of instruction and feedback gives students the next step they need to take to develop a deeper understanding. For feedback to provide any meaning to students it must link to the task at hand and be provided in a timely manner. • 22. The Theory of Reconsolidation The Theory of Reconsolidation What is it and how can it impact on our lives? Learning is a very important aspect of humans and creatures alike. Not only is it essential to the survival and adaption into this world but it also defines who we are as individuals (Schiller et al, 2010; Tronson Taylor, 2007). Memories from past experiences shape the people that we are today. A crucial element to learning is memory, without it we would not be able to retain information. The process of memory is very distinct and consists of several different stages: acquisition of memory, consolidation, retrieval and then either reconsolidation or extinction (Debiec Ledoux, 2004; Diergaarde, Schoffelmeer De Vries, 2008). As memory is such a critical aspect of learning, it is no wonder that its distinct process has become the topic of much research in the neurobiological universe (Hupbach et al, 2007; Nader Hardt, 2009). After a new memory is learnt, it enters the process of encoding during which the memory is labile and capable of disruption until it becomes stabilised over a period of time (Nader Einarsson, 2010; Nader et al, 2000). This process is called consolidation and originally consisted of the theory that once stabilised in the brain, it remains fixed (Suzuki et al, 2004). This theory has been rebutted by the acceptance of reconsolidation, a theory that imposes the ideology that when memories are retrieved, through similar experiences (Lee, 2009), they become labile until, ... What Was The Use Of Electric Currents In The 1800 s The basis of modern day electrical systems were all derived over a quarrel involving the light bulb, the electric chair, and a 28 year old Croatian immigrant. This dispute involved three of the biggest and most prominent names in the history of electrical engineering: Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, and George Westinghouse, who were all scientists and innovators who lived during the late 1800s. Edison and Tesla would get into a quite large argument over the best and most efficient kind of electrical currents. It would be Edison s direct currents against Tesla s alternating ones. Most of these rumors were dismissed as false, but a suspicion of Tesla still grew. Edison also tried to sabotage Westinghouse, Tesla s ally, as well. Westinghouse had a firm and public belief that alternating currents were better than direct currents, so Edison used that against him. Edison created a chair that alternating currents could flow through and into the person sitting in it: the first electric chair (King). He stated that AC was dangerous and should be discontinued (King). Edison even electrocuted a circus elephant named Topsy to show how fatal it could be (Willis). Unlike the telephone or the automobile, though, the internet has single handedly led to the creation of a relatively free space, where people around the world gather to share ideas, collaborate, mingle, and invent a future with new possibilities that no one knew they needed today. From its humble beginning as a relatively inexpensive lab project aimed at improving workflows to its rise against tyranny in world affairs, a worldwide obsession with the internet has gone viral and will likely sweep non discriminatorily to all parts of the globe. As this loosely regulated environment, also known as Cyberspace, the Net or the Web , matures; it is the civic duty of its users to ensure that the door to the information gateway remains open and accessible as it continues to disrupt all industry and influence all aspects of human conditions. Some cases hold a particular interest from the public because of publicity due to the topics they address but it is no secret that the vast majority of these cases are ignored by people in their everyday life. It can be seen with some examples from cases like Brown v. Buhman, Spokeo v. Robbins, Fisher v. University of Texas that the decision made in these cases can have an impact on the lives of all or many citizens that generally ignore their outcomes holding no regard for the standings of the supreme court. Let us start with Brown v. Buhman as the first example for why the average citizen should care about the supreme court. This case covers an issue with the Brown family a group of polygamists regarding a statute in Utah. This case brings up a few important things to be recognized. Primarily the case regards standing and mootness of a case, these are both important aspects of law to understand. Two Point Threshold Lab Report In this experiment, the two point threshold, or smallest separation of two points of stimulation on the skin that are perceived as two separate impressions of touch, was measured using the method of limits. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the participant s two point threshold on their finger, forearm, palm, and back. The identification of the stimulus is due to a variety of somatosensation mechanoreceptors, meaning they sense touch in response to a mechanical stimulation or pressure, which are located all over the body. When pressure is placed upon the epidermis (outermost layer of skin), different receptors respond to that pressure which is felt through vibrations. The ascending trials for each body part, with the exception of the second trial of the forearm, did not vary far from the mean threshold. When the second trial of forearm stimulation was given to the participant, there was a point in time (near the middle of administration) in which the experimenter accidentally placed the dial caliber tips onto the participant s skin at two separate times. This caused the participant to report feeling the stimulus as separate earlier than she did in the first and third forearm trials. Because of this error, the mean two point threshold of the forearm was not as reliable as it could have been had there been no error in the deliverance of stimuli. The purpose of this lab was, in fact, achieved and the participant s two point threshold means were calculated. The errors of this experiment could have been avoided by utilizing computer/mechanical stimulation as opposed to a dial caliper. Using a machine to administer the touch would ensure that the pressures as well as the timing and placement of each tip on the caliber were exactly the same. It is also important to note that the temperature of the dial caliber could have had an effect of the collection of data. At various points throughout the experiment, the participant jumped at the chilling temperature of the metal caliber. With each startle of the participant, the experimenter had to remove and then re place the stimulus onto the participant s skin to attempt an accurate reading. In future experiments, it is important to standardize the pressure and placement of the stimuli to record a more accurate data set. Whether it be religiously to please and entertain the gods, or as a form of entertainment for the townspeople, dance has brought joy to countless people. Because dance doesn t leave a written history trail it is assumed, but not proven, to have originated over 2500 years ago. However, dance continues to evolve even today. Odissi dance was held to a very high esteem not only by commoners, for even royalty were expected to be great dancers of this kind. However, as a sensual dance of great passion, love, and joy, it doesn t come to be a great surprise that after the 17th century odissi dance took a turn for the worse. The dancers went from being admired to being known as prostitutes and whores; it was a dark time for odissi dance as it came very close to being extinct. Nevertheless, India Independence Day marked an enormous change due the recognition that culture and dance was essential to unifying India once again. Many individuals then set out to revive odissi dance for the better (Nirmal). Odissi dance has since then taken on many different forms and has even split into three different schools: mahari, nartaki, and gotipua. Mahari dance is the traditional form of odissi used in rituals; narthaki dance was developed in the royal courts; and gotipua dance is the form of odissi where males wear female costumes and assume those roles (Courtney). One of the main differences between these dances is the purpose and symbolism. While odissi dance has been used for entertainment it is a classical temple dance. It is used in rituals and has originally been created for the Divine, bachata on the other hand is the complete opposite. They try to believe it is false and useless, because they don t like to believe it is true. J.C. Ryle. Before I begin I would like to say that I use both the King James Version and English Standard Version. I have nothing against the KJV and I believe it is an inspired word of God. Most people using the KJV now are using a modern version of the KJV, not the 1611 original King James. If it was the only inspired version why wouldn t you continue to use it and not modernize it? If the King James Version was the only true version would someone who was saved from a message delivered from an uninspired version have a faulty faith and salvation? Now I don t know what translation the evangelist was speaking from when I got saved but I would hate to believe that if it was not the KJV that I haven t truly been saved all this time. You would assume that the translation from the oldest manuscripts would be the most accurate but versions such as the ESV actually use older manuscript families than that of the KJV. Orphan figures have prevailed in the literary arena for centuries, from ancient poetry, folktales, and myths to modern day novels. The establishment of orphan as heroic figure in eighteenth century literature is commonly associated with the dawn of the enlightenment and romanticism in the eighteenth century. Furthermore, the socio historic explanation correlates the increasing philanthropic gestures for example the establishing of foundling hospitals and the increased attention on the child with the rise in positive orphan figures in literature. This literary revolution was perceived as a reflection of the rise in the care and protection of orphaned and abandoned children, in other words an expression of social concern. This study is committed to the eighteenth century English novel because this was when the literary orphan came to be celebrated as a heroic figure in English literature, thus marking a notable departure from earlier representations of the orphan. This socio historical commentary is valid however; it disregards the fact that the novels are not accurate portrayals of society. However, in the passage The Allegory of the Cave, written by Plato, he tells about a circumstance where the reality is not the truth. Since the beginning of time, human s ability to understand reality is limited by their inability to prioritize, their stubbornness, and their skewed ethics. Humans often prioritize their own wants, desires, and beliefs making it difficult for them to find reality. Their natural desire is to be comfortable and to stick with what they know well. If they do not feel comfortable in a situation they tend to stray away from it. Humans often resist change for this very reason. The man that became unshackled ... The difference went beyond middle schools in my district or state, but affected me closer to home at my high school. In middle school, education more frequently came from collaborative coursework rather than traditional lesson plans. The transition to high school was difficult because it seemed that students focused on social status and school administration focused on standardized testing scores. When looking at my education compared to course readings, I have found that despite my two schools being in the same school district and city, they each proposed different notions as to how schools should be ran and what makes education valuable.
