Betty Neuman developed the Neuman Systems Model in 1970 to provide nursing students a holistic overview of human beings. The model views health as varying levels within a normal range that change throughout life. It considers the physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and developmental aspects of clients. The model has four aspects - the client, health, environment, and nursing. Nurses aim to help clients maintain stability through primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention interventions after assessing intrapersonal, interpersonal, and extrapersonal factors. The Neuman Systems Model provides a framework for the nursing process and is significant because it is widely used in nursing education and practice.
