The Effect Of An Auditory Signals On One s Perception Of...
In this article, the researchers studied the effect of an auditory signal on one s perception of eye gaze.
They mention that people are born with the ability to differentiate between direct and adverted gaze,
and this ability becomes increasingly important throughout adulthood. Another important social signal
involves a person s auditory system. In infancy, children become sensitive to hearing their own name.
This auditory signal often occurs at the same time as direct eye contact. The researchers in this study
were trying to determine the correlation between someone hearing his/her own name and that person s
perception of the speaker s gaze. The article mentioned earlier studies have shown that a person s gaze
tends to gravitate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were 6 males and 11 females with a mean age of 24.8 years and a standard deviation of 5.03
years. They used gray scale photographs with neutral expressions, and altered the position of the iris
by increments of 1 pixel per image. This created the seven gaze deviations, including: direct gaze and
gaze shifts (to both the left and right) of 4, 7, and 10 pixels. For the auditory stimuli, the researchers
used recordings of four male speakers who would either say the participant s actual name or a control
name. For the experiment, the researchers placed a monitor in front of the participants and performed
256 randomly presented trials (64 trials represented at direct gaze and 64 trials for each of the three
gaze deviations). Each trial started with a central fixation cross on the screen between 500 and 1,750
ms. A variable interval approach was used in order to make sure the participants did not expect the
stimuli. After the cross, the participant were shown a face for 600 ms, and they heard a name through
headphones. They were given a 2,000 ms interval to press a button, reporting if they perceived the
gaze of the face to be looking to the left, right, or directly at them.
Result
After the experiment, the researchers calculated the range of gaze deviations for the two conditions,
own name and other name. They called these ranges

Similarities And Differences Between Coming To America And...
The following essay will compare and contrast two cultural productions that represent and depict
Africa. The films Coming to America by John Landis and The Gods Must Be Crazy by Jamie Uys
have similarities and differences according to the meaning of Africa. The similarities of these films are
the use of the current English language, religion, comedy relief, traditions, and interpretation of
Africans single story . The differences of these films are the time period, locations, clothing,
articulation, and reputation. The cultural productions of Coming to America and The Gods Must Be
Crazy can be compared and contrasted because both films exhibit a relationship that depicts how we
think about Africa not as a place, but as people as a whole in the modern world. The depiction of the
movie Coming to America and The God Must Be Crazy can be compared and contrasted on the films
locations. In Coming to America Prince Akeem Joffer is from the nation of Zamunda, which is a
fictional location. This location is only seen in the beginning and end of the film. The nation of
Zamunda depicts the idea of Africa as a land of substantial wealth. In addition, Africa as people has
the highest level of status and rights like having arranged marriages. In contrast, The Gods Must Be
Crazy is set in Botswana, South Africa in the Kalahari Desert. ... Show more content on

Marley Quinn Marketing
The marketing for Harley Quinn will follow that of what has been used to promote Suicide Squad, as
well as other superhero action movies, both in the DC and Marvel Universe. Unlike the Marvel
movies, Harley Quinn is coming after Harley Quinn s introduction in the Suicide Squad movie.
Marvel did an opposite approach when it came to their superhero team movie, The Avengers, where
the characters who made up the super team were given introduction movies before the release of the
film that brings them all together. However, the marketing strategies that they used who be of interest
to Harley Quinn, because their objective, to bring in audience members who were more interested in
The Avengers than the individual movies, matches ours. For Thor: The Dark World, the trailer that
Marvel released put its most recognizable characters at the front and center. Harley Quinn, can borrow
from this tactic with its own trailer. While the character of Harley Quinn is currently not the most
recognizable character with in Gotham, her story does include two of the most popular characters in
comic book history. In the trailer we will include snippets of both the Joker, who does play a major
part to the plot, and Batman, who does not, so that audience members who are fans of those characters
will also want to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like Thor, Harley Quinn can have its own comic book release that coincides with the movie. Harley
Quinn does currently have a few of her own comic books, most of which the plot line of the Harley
Quinn movie is based on. So instead of being a prelude to the movie, like Thor, the Harley Quinn
comic book can instead be a mini series following Harley after the events of Suicide Squad. This will
keep up the audience s interest in her character as well as get them interested in learning about her
backstory from the Harley Quinn

Overview Of The Superannuation Industry
Overview of the superannuation Industry The introduction of superannuation funds is to provide
retirement and death benefits to its members as the increase in Australia s ageing population has
become problematic. By encouraging individuals to save more throughout their working life and to
place those funds their retirement, the aim is to ensure a lesser proportion of public funds are directed
towards pensions and enhance the living standards of retired Australians (ALRC, 2013). The fund is
set up as an indefinitely continuing fund. Superannuation funds are managed by a trustee and are
regulated by APRA and ASIC. To be eligible to receive a serviceable tax treatment, a Superfund must

The Australian superannuation industry has also been reported to have increased in growth ever since
the year of 2009, up to 2015 the growth exceeds the annual gross domestic product. The trends seen in
recent year indicates that by lowering the cost, members benefit from greater values, which leads to a
lower fee being passed onto its members. The main objective of the Australian superannuation
industry is to come up with solutions that mainly focus the needs of a retired individual. However, this
objective is restricted as the industry is meeting the demands of individual with limited capacity
(KPMG,2015). Members of Australian Super have access to 14 different investment options that can
be split into two categories either, members can either invest in a diversified fund or focus their
investments on a single Sector(RateCity, 2016). Premixed options are diversified options that allow
members to invest in a variety of asset classes such as shares, property, infrastructure, fixed interest
and cash. While DIY Mix options are single asset class portfolios. Members are granted the ability to
choose how much they want to invest in each in a mix that can also include one or more PreMixed
options, this option gives its members more control over their allocation (INVESTMENT CHOICE

The Salary For A Dentist
Similarly, the salary for a dentist differs from one dentist to another. Dentists who own their own
practices can expect to make anywhere from $150,000 a year to possibly even $164,000 or higher
over time (Dentists: Salary). Over time pay for dentists in expected to go up since it has been on the
rise for the past decade or longer. Dentists in their first year, naturally, will not make the same amount
of money as an experienced practicing dentist will (Dentists: Salary). Notably, dentists make much
more than many other health care professionals, including pharmacists, registered nurses, dental
hygienists, and dental assistants. According to statistics, dentists tend to do better and make more
money in certain cities across the United States (Dentists: Salary). Some of these cities include
Holland, Michigan, Jacksonville, North Carolina, Nashua, New Hampshire, Rochester, New
Hampshire, and Valdosta, Georgia. In all of these cities, dentists make over $250,000 a year (Dentists:
Salary). With all of the work required of a dentist and with all of the patients that see a dentist, it is
impossible for a dentist to run an office alone. One group of people that are essential to a dentist and
to a dental office are dental hygienists. Dental hygienists work very closely aligned with dentists for
the overall health of patients (Dental Hygienists). These individuals have the responsibility of
screening patients, taking dental x rays, removing plaque from a patient s teeth,

The Influence Of The Jeanne Clery Act
Introduction
In 1986, Jeanne Clery was 19 years old living on the campus of Lehigh University. Clery was tortured,
raped, and murdered in her dormitory. Both she and her parents thought she was safe, unbeknownst to
them, Lehigh University had a high statistic for violent crimes. People believed the history of crime
would be a known fact about the university, however, there were no standards for reporting of campus
crime events. After the murder of their daughter, Connie and Howard Clery took to Capitol Hill to
lobby for change. This paper will discuss the background of the Jeanne Clery Act, how the act came to
be, the perception of the act and how well it was received, as well as the impact it had on higher
education.

In addition, FERPA allows students the right to inspect their education records and pursue appropriate
changes to their records (Miller, T. 2017). Also, established in 1992 was the Campus Sexual Assault
Victim s Bill of Rights. This detailed the basic rights afforded to sexual assault victims (Clery Center,
n.d.).
Ten years from the initial groundwork, in 1998, a provision was made that no longer made the
outcomes of a student s disciplinary case involving violence or non forcible sex offenses protected
from disclosure under federal laws concerning the privacy of students (Clery Center, n.d.). There was
also an amendment made that eliminated loopholes in the policy. Eliminating loopholes, the
amendment mandated daily security department logs of crime and expanded the requirements that
included areas off campus. Two years later, an amendment called the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention
Act required appropriate law enforcement officials to add to the Annual Security Report a statement
about how to find information about registered sex offenders in and around the area. In 2008, the
Higher Education Opportunity Act widened the Clery Act scope. Emergency response and notification
provisions were expanded, hate crimes categorization for reporting was broadened, there were
safeguards for whistleblowers implemented, and finally, the Department of Education is required to
annually report on Clery Act compliance. Following a landmark decision, in 2013, the Violence

there was no one to help them because everyone was infected with this flu: Power is a way how

Propaganda was designed to make people believe in certain viewpoints and to think in a certain way.
Propaganda posters were created with bright colours and different pictures so that it would catch
people s attention and it would persuade men to join the army. Most of the posters stated that If we all

The Influence Of Vampires
The popularity of vampires in films has increased dramatically over the past decade or so. Films such
as Van Helsing, Fright night and Twilight have all paved the way for a new type of vampire that
appeals to the audience for several different reasons. Leaving a lot of the traditional vampire traits
behind, these films have created a new attractive vampire and in the case of twilight, a vampire that
has feelings and emotions and does not want to drink human blood. These more modern vampires are
not only more appealing to the viewer; they are also signifiers of the modern culture in which we live
in today.
The film Van Helsing was directed by Stephen Sommers and stars Hugh Jackman playing a more
modern adaptation of the title character, Abraham ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Van Helsing, the three brides of Dracula are strikingly beautiful women and Jerry the vampire in
Fright Night is very handsome, and this fact is remarked by the female characters in the film on
several occasions. The fact that these new modern vampires are seen as very sexual and extremely
attractive individuals shows that the modern audience of the 21st century needs to be visually
stimulated in more ways than one. The saying sex sells does indeed apply here. Along with being
stimulated visually by the camera effects of these movies, audiences like looking at people who are
attractive. This attractiveness adds to the appeal of vampires even more as they are becoming sexier,
more enticing and even more alluring.
Taking the aforementioned points into account, another vampire phenomenon which has hit the 21st
century must be discussed. The Twilight Saga, which shows vampires in almost a completely different
light, has swept across the world and has gathered a very strong and loyal fan base. In Twilight,
vampires are seen to have feelings and emotion, and they also want to abstain from drinking human
blood, well the majority do. Here, vampires are stepping away from the traditional
horror/fantasy/adventure genre and are stepping closer to the romance

African American And Other Ethnic Groups Incarcerated...
Introduction
When we hear the words justice system we should be thinking about fairness, justice, honesty,
righteousness. However, contrary to what comes to mind in reality the justice system is rife with
inequality, injustice, corruption and dishonestly. The definition for institutional inequality is the
existence of unequal opportunities and rewards for different social positions or statuses within a group
of society (about.com) and this is what people of color are facing on a daily basis. On this paper
examined the research about the ratio of African American and other ethnic groups incarcerated versus
whites, also how this affects the community, why such a high percentage of African Americans ages
25 29 are incarcerated and the racial disparities that exist in the justice system. Historically African
Americans have been discriminated against in the United States and a system of race based hierarchy
still exists. The lower class includes the Blacks and Hispanic population and other so called
minorities. The upper class includes the white population also called majority, the higher social
position of white the population allows for a greater advantage when it comes to the writing and
application of laws that will apply to the majority and minority population.
II. What is Racial Disparity?
Racial disparity in the criminal justice system exists when the proportion of a racial or ethnic group
within the control of the system is greater than the proportion of such

anticipation surrounding graduation in her small town of Stamps, Alabama. Angelou effectively
contrives noteworthy differences between paragraphs 1 through 5 and 6 through 10 through the use of
emotional and descriptive diction, powerfully bold comparisons, and a shift in perspective in order to

Angelou begins the excerpt narrating the graduation epidemic surrounding the town in the third
person. Starting with paragraph 6, Angelou shifts to a first person narrative, which provides an
informative insight into her personal experiences regarding her graduation. This shift in perspective
marks important stylistic differences: initially Angelou focuses on conveying the experiences of the
class as a whole, whereas after paragraph 6 she focuses on her own experiences, through which
several contrasts can be drawn. Rhetorically, these contrasts signify that identical rhetorical strategies
will have completely different connotations. For example, Angelou s classmates whose future[s] rode

Okonkwo s Belief In Things Fall Apart
In Umuofia s esoteric civilization, the people share a general and substantial belief in a God and
religion. Some people, like Okonkwo and his family, respect the Gods and go to them for wisdom:
...and offered prayers to them on behalf of himself, his three wives and eight children. (Achebe, 14).
Okonkwo seeks guidance from the Gods so they can receive mirth for his obedience to them. The
guidance he looks for shapes him as a character, since he will do anything his Gods ask of him to do.
However, other people of the society contain great fear of their deities: It was deeper and more

Hills Like White Elephants Nature Analysis
Going Green: Effect of Nature on Humanity in Hills Like White Elephants Located in the
Northeastern region of France, the Ebro is just as famous for its literary recognition as it is its
geographical significance. Due to Ernest Hemingway s writing of the short story Hills Like White
Elephants in 1927, the valley especially has been critiqued, analyzed, and studied for nearly a century.
The valley itself makes up almost 17% of Spain itself, and is called one of the main physiographic
units in the Iberian Peninsula (El). Thus, it is the perfect setting for a story of life changing decisions.
Most literary critics or theorists choose to anthropomorphize the nature in the story, claiming that the
sides of the valley represent Jig s choice between barren sterility, or fertile ... Show more content on

As a theory, Ecorcritism has one foot in literature and the other on land; as a theoretical discourse, it
negotiates between the human and the non human (Shoba). Hemingway uses the description of the
scenery to inform the reader of both the cultural and social climate surrounding the story and
characters, and ecocrticism can use that scenery to evaluate the effects which location has on
characters and their behaviors. Ebro is in Spain, which was a mostly Catholic country in 1927. At that
time, especially in the Catholic church, contraceptives and abortion was forbidden, and even outlawed
(LeMaire). Those circumstances would explain why the couple was waiting for a train to Madrid.
They were headed to the capital, a city epicenter, where it may have been easier to Jig to find an
illegal abortion. With the valley likely being the last stop before the couple gets to Madrid, the idea of
abortion, as well as the legal and social repercussions, might ve been enough the make Jig anxious and
unsure. The political and cultural climate has just as much of an effects on characters, and the
decisions they make, as does the natural landscape

Red, yellow or orange tourmalines appear better when seen under iridescent lighting. There are some
types of red tourmalines that even appear brown when seen in natural sunlight, which may look

better against natural sunlight. Therefore, when shopping for a stone, examine it uner both artificial
and natural lighting. Hardness on the Mohn Scale The Mohs scale is used to measure mineral and gem
hardness. Tourmaline falls between 7.0 to 7.5. The numbers of the Mohn scale are determined on how
difficult or easy it is for a mineral or gem to be scratched. Numbers range from 1 to 10 with the higher
the number, the softer is the mineral. Additional Considerations and Warnings Consider transparency

Inherently, the focus of God is love and to respect His authority is to love Him. Learning to worship
God as Trinity involves more than just searching for creative techniques. We need to know about the
nature of our triune God if we are to worship him and enjoy him properly (Shaw 79). Often when I
feel discouraged, the instinct is to blame God, the creator of everything. Sometimes I get so wrapped
up in my own selfishness, that I forget all the things God has done, not just for me, but also for the
world. His mercy is compassionate love for sinners who do not deserve the redemption in Christ that
he offers. His grace likewise speaks of his free favor granted to sinners (Shaw 81). I am also reminded
that God is transcendent. He surpasses time and money, earth and space. God is so important, that
metaphors are constantly referred to as representing God: God is a rock, God is the light, God is the
bread, God is a fortress, God is the potter and we are the clay (GCU text). According to the text,
creation and humanity are the work of a triune God. Creation includes the entire activity of God. In
creation all three persons are at work simultaneously, including the Holy Spirit (Gen 1:2) and the
Word (John 1:1) (Chapter 5). 3 Studies of Jesus primarily focus on the duality of Jesus and how he is

Digital Estate Research Paper
Unlike 20 years ago, a large portion of an average person s life is done online. If you re like most
people, you have an accumulation of digital assets, which can include everything from photos, videos
to checking accounts.
If you fail to leave your loved ones a complete documentation of your digital possessions, they can be
lost in cyberspace. If you re worried about your digital assets after you re gone, here are some
guidelines for ensuring they continue.
What s Included in a Digital Estate
A digital estate entails all your accounts that are accessed through a computer. This typically includes:
All email accounts This includes incoming, sent and stored email messages from all computers,

It s tempting to select a close relative or friend to hand over your personal data once you re gone.
However, if you do this, just be sure he or she is qualified to handle the technical facets of all types of

One of the most qualities to look for when choosing a digital executor director is someone who s
detail oriented and exceptionally organized. Your digital executor should be highly tech savvy and not
afraid to use the internet.
He or she should also be dedicated to carrying out all your wishes, as well as be a patient person
because dealing with various internet companies can entail a considerable amount of time. Also, a
digital executor should be able to communicate and work well with other people.
Considerations and Warnings
Even if you leave behind all your passwords for your internet accounts, most heirs will still be
frustrated because they can still lack the power or authority for managing your online accounts once

Essay on The Importance of Loss in Scott Fitzgerald s...
The Importance of Loss in Scott Fitzgerald s Winter Dreams
In the traditional Romance narrative, there is some desirable object whose consummation is the
driving preoccupation of the text s protagonist. The aspiration of the Romantic hero is to capture that
elusive object that will, nevertheless, consistently out strip him. These heroes are intimately
acquainted with the pain of the loss and suffer deeply for feeling so acutely. However, loss itself, is
essential to the equation and is, in fact, a large portion of what establishes the thing as desirable.
In the texts of traditional Romanticism the individual has preeminence, and his or her subjective
psychological experience with the loss in question is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here we are operating in a decidedly liminal sphere. Fitzgerald masterfully weaves this intricate web
whose lines are taut with the tension of the forces between which it is extended. He is quoted as
having said of his celebrated The Great Gatsby (of which Winter Dreams is an early version): That s
the whole burden of the novel the loss of illusions that give such color to the world so that you don t
care whether things are true or false as long as they partake of the magical glory (Preface, Gatsby
XV). Referring back to the pivotal Realist question, Fitzgerald seems to be indicating that what is as
stake is the system that validates our notions of loss. The illusions that give such color to the world
have allowed us to passionately bemoan the loss of isolated actualized selves, but strip away the
illusion of the solipsistic being that is utterly impervious to social forces and one it left with nothing to
bemoan.
There is a passion in Winter Dreams protagonist Dexter Green that clings to the dream because The
thing was deep in him. He was too strong, too alive for it to die lightly (2136). And yet, of his love for
the alluringly elusive Judy Jones, we are told: It excited him that many men had loved her. It increased
her value in his eyes [my italics] (N 2131). In these two statements we see the narrator s stylistic shift
between an admiration

hold their belongings. Although many in the South saw carpetbaggers as people who wanted to exploit
and profit from the south s misfortunes, Carpetbaggers would play an important role in shaping the
south s government during Reconstruction. African Americans in the south who had just been
emancipated were restricted their freedom when southern legislatures passed black codes , which
forced them into repressive labor situations. The Black Codes were laws designed with the intention to
guarantee African American s availability as a cheap labor force after slavery was eliminated during
the Civil War, and to keep white supremacy in place. Common examples of Black Codes were: Race

Flannery O Connor s View On Religion
The writing of Flannery O Connor includes clever story lines, plot twists, and dark humor to convey
her ideas on religion. O Connor was a devout Catholic who loved her faith although she occasionally
had disagreements with the church. The archbishop of San Fransisco once said in his essays, She
valued the church highly and observed it acutely, warts and all (Niederauer). The Catholic faith was a
major part of her life, even with its flaws. She evidenced this importance through her many works of
fiction and her actions in the world.
Flannery O Connor uses her clever stories to give people a chance to see her views on her religion. In
several of her stories she uses flat characters to represent sins such as selfishness and greed. The main

Review Of The Interlopers
Katelyn Lindsay Mr. Titherley World Literature Honors Period Five 25 September 2017 First Draft of
Interlopers
Blinded by Beliefs Saki, in The Interlopers, says that because our family plays an important role in
who we are, we choose to see only evil in our enemies for the sake of our kin, our blood, until the
threat of death opens us to more options. We choose to imitate certain individuals whose beliefs we
associate with more than others. More likely than not, the individuals we choose to imitate are our
close relatives; they often have a bigger impact on our mentality than someone merely acquainted with

The beliefs that we adopt, excluding those crafted with a significant purpose in mind, limit our
perspective and blinds us from seeing other possibilities. Once we adopt a vision or belief, whether it

contradict our own. Ulrich and Georg were brought into the feud as enemies at a young age. Even as
boys they had thirsted for one another s blood, and this disposition stuck with them for as men each
prayed that misfortune might fall on the other, (6). Their families view of each other, being such a
prevalent part of their childhood, had influenced them to show the same hatred as well. Instead of
outgrowing the childish behavior they developed by watching their families quarrel, the men continue
to see themselves as enemies, even developing a stronger dislike for them. While searching the strip of
forest for Georg, Ulrich finds himself face to face with the man he sought, and now they stand, glaring
at one another for a long silent moment until they are pinned underneath a fallen beech tree (7). The
men physically see each other, glare at each other, but neither is given time to speak. Their long silent

Visual Effects On Free Throw Shooting Essay
Visual Effects on Free Throw Shooting What is the easiest way to earn points in a basketball game?
Free shots, also known as free throws, are given to a player after being fouled. What do shooters focus
on to score the given shots? They rely on what they can see. What if the net was removed? Would the
player s free throw accuracy increase or decrease? Visual targets, can have a tremendous effect on one
s shot. According to McCann, A. (2012), basketball players looking to make a shot would focus on the
net or even the hooks that hold the net to the rim. The human body is a servant to touch, taste, smell,
hearing, and sight. Reactions to the five senses cause chain reactions that generate a person s brain to
release chemicals that produce responses. Sight enables a shooter to be aware of his or her distance to
the basket. The sense of touch allows a shooter to realize the proximity of the basketball to his or her
body. In the sport of basketball, when someone thinks of a perfect shot, it is normally a three point
shot that hits nothing but net. What if there was no net on the rim? There would be no satisfaction of
hearing the swish of the net after successfully knocking down the field goal attempt. The net is not
only a symbol to accumulate the shot being made but also a target for several shooters. When the net
is gone, it gives the basketball goal and the rim a different appearance that, most of the time, throws
off shooters attempting to complete a

Persuasive Essay On Surfing In Australia
Surf s Up, Mate!
Australia has long been known to have the best surf beaches in the world; mostly owing it to the fact
that open ocean waters, such as the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, and the Southern Ocean, are
surrounding it. Besides the picturesque view from different sides of the land area itself, professional
surfers do think highly of the waves quality these coastlines offer. The country s water area has been
said to give off the biggest swells, making it a destination for most surfing contests. But more than just
a water sport, surfing in Australia is almost a way of life because of how people appreciate what their

The idea of surfing would not be possible without anyone relating the sport to the famous Bells Beach
located along the south coast. This particular beach is considered to embody the sport of surfing,
attributing to its long, fat and fast waves perfect during midyear. If you happen to be around the east
coast, it would be good to visit the Kirra Point and Burleigh Heads Beach . The former is deemed to
produce unforgivable swells, perfect for experienced surfers but worrisome for newbies while the
latter is regarded provide excellent waves for those who knows more about the sport. On the other

Describe how Bacteria decode its genetic information to produce proteins?
Intro(10mins)
Bacteria belongs to a group of organism that lacks cell nucleus and membrane bound organells. This
group of organisms are termed as prokaryotes. Prokaryotes follows the central dogma of molecular
biology first proposed by Francis Crick in 1958 to synthesize proteins from mRNA through a process
called translation and the mRNA is being synthesized from the DNA by another process called
Transcription. Temperature, nutrient availibity are some key factors that start the process of
synthesizing proteins in response to these key factors. Example. This paper will provide an

50S ribosomal subunits binds to the 30s ribosomal unit, giving rise to a complete 70s ribosome. Initial
factors(IF 1, IF 2, IF 3) are required for the formation of the initiation complex described above.
Once initiated, the polypeptide grows longer by covalently linking amino acids together. The ribosome
has 3 binding sites for binding tRNA, 1 the peptidyl site (P site), 2 aminoacyl site (A site) and the 3
exit site (E site). At the beginning of elongagion, the P site is filled with fMet tRNA, and the A and E
sites are empty. MRNA is bound to the ribosome in which its codon complement the anticodon of the
tRNA at the P site. TRNA with anticodon to the codon of mRNA at the empty A site is inserted. A
transpeptidation reaction occurs between the 2 amino acids carried by the tRNA, on the P and A site.
This reaction results in the transfer of the amino acid in the P site to the amino acid in the A site. The
ribosome now advances a distance of 1 codon and a new tRNA carrying the next amino acid moves
into the A site where its anti codon matches the codon of the mRNA. The ribosome again shift down
by a distance of 1 codon. As the shift occurs, the 2 amino acids on the tRNA in the P site are
transferred to the new amino acid and the 2nd tRNA is released at the E exit. This

Marketing researchers work with probabilistic models of the form: y = f(x1)..(fx2)...f(xn)...
This reflects the fact that in order for a target market share to be reached some promotion (amount
unknown) is necessary but will not be sufficient, on its own, to achieve the target. Y is a function of a
number of variables and the interactions between them. The model is further complicated by the fact
that these interactions are themselves often not understood. It is for these reasons that marketing
researchers cannot guarantee that decisions based on their information will always prove successful .
Rather the best that a competent researcher and a well designed study will be able to offer is a
reduction in the amount of uncertainty surrounding the decision.
A definition of marketing research
Green and Tull1 have defined marketing research as follows:
Marketing research is the systematic and objective search for, and analysis of, information relevant to
the identification and solution of any problem in the field of marketing.
The key words in this definition are; systematic, objective and analysis. Marketing research seeks to
set about its task in a systematic and objective fashion. This means that a detailed and carefully
designed research plan is developed in which each stage of the research

numerous reports in the news regarding the results which stated that there was an increase in the sales
of popcorn and Coke after the experiment began. Although these results were not given much
credibility due to the absence of a control group, the exposure of this experiment made people realise
that they were being targeted subconsciously.
A big component of subliminal advertising is repetitive advertising. This method has been used a lot in
the past and is still being used today. Examples of this can be found all around us. If you turn on the
television these days. you will see commercials for a specific product multiple times during a short
period of time. This strategy is applied in order to reinforce the image of that product in the consumer
s mind. If a person sees a commercial a few times, then he or she may or may not buy the product.
Their behaviour will depend totally on the fact that did they like what they saw in the commercial or
not. But if they are shown the commercial again and again, then they become curious about the
product and this is enough to initiate a trial purchase. A.S.C. Ehrenberg, a professor of

Hope was so tangible that even the foreign community was living in a heightened sense of
anticipation. The hard part for me today is that the memories of those heady early days of hope are
tinged with the reality of the carnage that followed. I will always remember that night in 1974 when
hope turned to fear with the execution of former Prime Minister Endelkachew Makonnen and
members of his government. For the past 20 years, I have tried to put to rest that time and those events
that fascination with danger, with living in places of great risk. In Ethiopia, danger and risk were
coupled with a tinge of guilt: That as a foreigner, I was not a target of the revolution; that I got off
easy and therefore must continually prove if only to myself that I am not a coward; that I will not run
from danger as I had by leaving my friends behind, friends who disappeared in the night.
So I thought that by returning to Ethiopia to take a three month contract job with the Peace Corps to
train a new group of volunteers, I might finally close the door on that haunting time. It would be
simple. I would return to my old house on Bishoftu Road in Addis Ababa, where I lived at the height

The Origins of Greek Thought by Jean-Pierre Vernant
Jean Pierre Vernant s book, The Origins of Greek Thought, is a critical reassessment of a dominant
historical trope for Western antiquity: that Greek philosophy amazingly materialized out of thin air
after the Dorian Invasion. As an alternative to this popular idea, Vernant rationalizes the revolution of
Greek thought as it pertains to the development of the polis (city), the development of philosophy,
along with the idea that logic was developed by accompanying death of the monarchy and the birth of
democracy. This paper will focus on the relationship between the emergence of the polis, the origin of
rational thought (logic) and its connection to the Greeks. Vernant posits that the development and
expansion of the polis is diametrically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Vernant, this palace structure directly resembled the monarchies of the East. The king
controlled every aspect of life for its inhabitants. This kind of sovereignty provided the platform for an
absolute monarchy. However, this would all change after the invasion of the Dorians, the
disappearance of the king and the advent of the polis around 750 BCE.
The Disappearance of the King
When ancient kings were overthrown, which happened often enough, they were simply replaced by
other kings. All of the Greek cities all had traditional kings. But in Greece, the institution of kingship
lost its traction. At Athens, the office of archon or ( ruler or regent ) pushed aside the authority of the
king (who eventually became another elected archon). So it is clear that the fall of Mycenae concluded
with the overthrow of the king, left a political void in the government, set the stage for philosophy to
materialize, and broke tradition by failing to installing a new king. Finally, the Dorian invasion gave
birth to the archon, broke monarch tradition, helped forth philosophy, and gave birth to a new kind of
new kind of city (polis).
With the monarchy of the king abolished, traces of authority that had been organized by the king were
no longer present either and the Greek society slipped into The Dark Age and this left a void in the
government. This was a transitional period for the Greeks and

Guns in the Classroom
131 people have died in mass school shootings since 1999 to 2015 (Le Miere). This excludes any
shootings that have resulted with 4 or less fatalities because they are not considered mass shootings.
However, these tragic events can be prevented or stopped faster if a trained adult had presented a
firearm. I believe that if a teacher would like to have a firearm in their classroom to help prevent any
fatalities from possible school shootings they should be allowed. Many people oppose the concept of
guns in the classroom, but a compromise can be found between the two sides of the continuum. These
compromisation can be applied to the classroom to help stop school shootings and make sure school
shootings don t occur.
Many people oppose the concept of their being a gun in the classroom. These people who oppose it

before they start on their hands on session. As the cadets do not have much prior knowledge in the
usage of tools other than the demonstration provide by them during the lecture they attended earlier,
they are unable to perform as effectively.
The existing reference materials for the students are printed in hardcopy and cadets need to spend time

fertility, similarly it is the menstrual flow that is the first symbol of fertility for the woman. She
compares the menstrual flow to the, Red edge of the moon (l 4)

Long Term Space Travel And Its Effects On The Human Body
Long term Space Travel and its Effects on the Human Body
Synopsis:
Humans are planning more space missions to Mars and deeper into the solar system. These manned
missions require longer periods of time in space than any human has ever spent, as well as traveling
farther from Earth s protection than ever before. There has been very little research conducted
regarding the effects of prolonged space travel on the human body. This paper examines how space
travel will likely alter bodily functions. The evolution of life on Earth means that humans are adapted
and specialized to live and function in Earth s environment. The environment of open space presents
hazards such as: solar radiation, microgravity, and extreme isolation. Prolonged exposure to these
hazards could result in cardiovascular issues, cancers, cellular disruption, decreased bone density,
osteoporosis, psychological issues, and more. It is important for scientists to research these hazards
and their effects on the human body further so as to find solutions and ways to combat the negative
outcomes.
Exploration is a key component of human nature. Humans have always had the will to venture out into
the unknown and explore new world. The curious and adventurous nature of mankind colonized the
Earth and landed men on the moon. But what is the next step? How much farther can man go?
Humans are looking past the moon, to the stars and beyond now. In the past decade, multiple
spacefaring governments and corporations have

The Discovery Process Of Fingerprint Identification...
In this report, I will introduce the discovery process of fingerprint identification technology at first,
and then talk about its impact on the detection of cases. Introduce some basic information about
Information technology. Additionally, discuss the technology s influence of IT industry with the
development of fingerprint identification technology, such as Apple Company. After the discussion, I
will analyze the application of fingerprint identification technology, and what impact this technology

5 Forces Model. Finally, analyze advantages and disadvantages of Apple Company (IPhone) through
the use of fingerprint identification technology.
Information technology (IT) is the application of computers and telecommunications equipment to
store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data. (Daintith, John, ed. (2009), IT , A Dictionary of Physics,
Oxford University Press, retrieved 1 August 2012). IT consists of three parts, first is sensing
technology, and the most obvious example is a bar code reader; second is communication technology
which bear transfer function information, and last is computer technology, and it commitment to
information processing functions. IT industry has a great impact on human life, such as mobile

Evaluating Educating Rita
Evaluating Educating Rita
Educating Rita tells a story of a 26 year old married hairdresser, Rita, who decided to get education by
taking a course in English literature from the Open University. Through the development of the
relationship between Rita and her alcoholic and cynical tutor, Frank, this story brings up many
concepts in adult development and education. After watching the movie, I have a further
understanding of the concepts of changes, motivation to learn, freedom, and stability.
Rita is a woman who is longing for change. Change is an inevitable concept during adult development
that is influenced by different factors, such as age, culture, and certain life events. Rita comes from a
working class society and has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stability describes the inner traits of people that are consistent through their lifetime, making the
individuals unique from others. It seems that change is the main theme of this movie, because it is the
motivation and result of Rita s education. While providing education to Rita and helping her transform
to a confident and independent person with knowledge, Frank always reminds Rita to be herself. The
purpose of her education is not to find a different song but a better song. Rita should become an
enriched person that still keeps her valuable characteristics, such as verve, curiousness, and
earnestness. Relating this concept to my life, keeping stability means being myself. Learning is not a
simple procedure of copy and paste. I need to discover myself first, and then find out my strengths and
weaknesses. Therefore, I will be able to enhance the strengths and improve the weaknesses while
keeping my own uniqueness.
Educating Rita is a relaxing and thought provoking comedy. It makes me laugh while giving me some
serious thoughts. I will apply the useful concepts I received from the movie to the journey of my
lifetime by developing strong motivations, making positive changes, remaining open minded and free,
and conserving my stability and

Expressionism In Pink Panther
When examining art, art theory can provide useful tools in understanding, appreciating, and extracting
both superficial and deeper meanings from the work. It also assists in quantifying what art is; the case
has been made that artistic license does not equate art, and boundaries help to create context and
meaning. In Terry Barrett s book, Why is That Art?: Aesthetics and Criticism of Contemporary Art, he
delves into art theory through the lens of realism, cognitivism, and expressionism, using contributions
from theorists both ancient and modern. Renowned pop artist, Jeff Koons, presents something of an
analytical conundrum in much of his art, as it can be analyzed through the lens of all three categories.
His sculpture, Pink Panther, when analyzed through realism, provides a succinct reflection of many
deeply ingrained cultural attitudes and expectations. The following will analyze Pink Panther using
realism theory, offering a sample process of how such an analysis could occur. It will also
subsequently evaluate the interpretation, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses that can be found
when applying certain perspectives in art theory to a specific work of art.
Realism Interpretation In Pink Panther, Koons used glazed porcelain to sculpt the image on the Pink
Panther cartoon embracing a topless woman, who is holding her breast. The fluidity of line is realistic,
but the reflective glaze renders the figures shiny like a plastic toy. This, combined with the array of

The New Jersey State Department Of Education
The New Jersey State Department of Education received government, state, and local funding for
youths ages 5 17, as part of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program. The question is;
how can the states revise and disperse the amount of funding allocated for after school programs for
the current number of children enrolled? How can we raise awareness about the higher enrollment
after school programs offered for children of all ages? The current data shows the ratio of children
enrolled versus the number of children not enrolled, offset the amount of dispersed funds, and varies
state to state. The New Jersey Department of education allocates the funded money towards after
school programs housed at public schools with a high enrollment rate while other states do not. This
leaves a huge gap in society with not enough funds creatively used towards youth programs. Children
of all ages should have access to an after school educational program and support from within their
community. Common motivational goals set forth in the evaluation for this program are, for children
to receive the enhancement of moral values, equality, and diversity through after school educational
programs within their local school districts. This evaluation is based on the logic model format and
designed to meet the needs and demands assessment criteria. Weighing the outcome of an economical
developed society in which graduation rates will increase. While, in past the government started

Woman In Black Vs Landlady
There are many fears in this world, death, spiders, monsters, etc. But in the end, all fears share similar
things. For example, the film In The Woman In Black, directed by James Watkins a haunting lady
lures children into their death supernaturally, and in story The Landlady , written by Roald Dahl, Billy
doesn t understand why he s at the inn with a strange old woman, but he is. The differences between
the two is what happens from the beginning from end, The Woman In Black revolves around a number
of people and ends with a complete understanding, while The Landlady revolves around only two
people, the protagonist Billy and the antagonist old woman and the ending keeps the reader guessing.

Charles Dickens and William Marley s Beliefs in the...
William Marley grew up in London. The celebrated writer Charles Dickens often visited William s
father, a renowned and wealthy doctor with a shared interest in child welfare. Dickens loved unusual
names. He decorated his writings with them. At a party at the Marley home in 1843 he promised to
make his host s then uncommon surname a household word. In A Christmas Carol , published that
December, he named the main protagonist in the story for his friend. By New Years Eve, the book had
sold fifteen thousand copies, and Dickens had honoured his promise. Throughout the United
Kingdom, people spoke the names Scrooge, Cratchit, Fezziwig... and Marley.
Dickens believed that if all children, whatever their circumstance, could attend school, society would
benefit. The social message of A Christmas Carol inspired widespread enthusiasm for universal
education; enthusiasm which gained momentum throughout the Victorian era, even in far distant
corners of the Her Majesty s Realm.
William Marley followed his father into medicine, but never achieved the same success. By 1884 he
toiled far from the culture and learning of London in a remote corner of the Empire. He had little time
to ponder social welfare or literary interests. At fifty years of age, guilt and worry clouded his days. In
Stanthorpe, where he first lived in Queensland, and then here in Port Douglas, he and his wife had led
active social lives. That lifestyle cost money. Now ill, and convinced he would

Breaking The Umbilical Cord Essay
Breaking the Umbilical Cord
By Kelsie Riedesel Since the beginning of time a bond between a parent and child has been special.
The child is considered part of them in many ways. The child is literally half of you in a biological
way. Half of the child s genes are yours and the other half is your partners. This is when paternal or
maternal instincts are activated. When the child is born you take on responsibilities of being a parent.
Whether you raise them on your own or with some help, they are still your responsibility no matter
what. Through the child s life they slowly grow up from an infant to toddler. Then they start their
education in a pre school or go straight to elementary. Soon they complete elementary and middle
school and enter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some parents even develop empty nest syndrome. Their child is all grown up and heading out into the
world. In their eyes their now college student is still a little elementary student in their eyes. The child
is starting to branch out of the nest and begin their own life. At this point this is when adulthood sinks
into the child now adult. There are some costs to breaking away from a parent. You are now left to pay
and do your own stuff. You no longer have a father or mother to cook or do laundry for you. You need
to do laundry when you wish you want to play video games. Time to learn how to cook since money is
very tight and McDonald s is too expensive. Wake up at eight at in the morning when you want to
sleep in until noon. Time to juggle full time work with full time school. You start to realize the phrase
money makes the world go round is very true. Basic items like laundry detergent, hygiene, and
supplies becomes more important. The new video game you waited for a long time is too expensive. If
you come from a poor family college is on you and only you. The world of adulthood becomes scary
and you become scared. You begin to question yourself if you will be able to stay in school since
tuition went up. You begin to find desperate ways to make a quick buck and pray no one in your
family or inner circle finds out. You realize life is like gambling. Sometimes you win the jackpot.
Sometimes you lose

Joao Coutinho,“There Is No Neutral Education. Education
Joao Coutinho, There is no neutral education. Education is either for domestication or for freedom.
Therefore I question one to think about the category in which the american school system falls into,
are we creating freedom thinkers or robots of government or are our students trap inside this
conventional compulsory schooling? School is suppose to be a place where students are to be
motivated and taught that all the things in which they dream will become reality. However as time has
progressed teachers have been forced to teach certain content and in particular ways, while students
are required to learn through the styles implemented by their teacher. What many may not know is that
the requirements that teachers and students must follow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Maslow hierarchy of needs state, a person can not reach their fullest potential unless they first meet
their basic needs. How will this affect their passion to teach? According to a report released by the
Department of Education there has become a more urgent need for teachers as the teacher shortage
increases. Educators are beginning to lose their passion for their profession. What example does this
set for the children as it relates to education? If they would for one second answer these few questions
before making such an immense decision they would stop taking money away from education. Answer
this question; if there were more educators and administrators in these government positions, the
secretary of education, would it be so easy to implement cuts within education? There are people like
president Trump s new elect Betsy Devos who has never been in a classroom or has never held a
position within a school. This becomes problematic because she now holds one of the most powerful
positions within education: The United States Secretary of Education. As the head of the US
Department of Education, the secretary advises and executes legislation over education policy at both
the K 12 and postsecondary levels. In an interview she participated in with a CNN host she was
perceived to be unknowledgeable about laws like, Individuals with Disability Act (IDEA), which

Aquinas Just War Essay
St. Thomas Aquinas is another great theologian of the Catholic Church who believed in Just War
Theory. St. Aquinas explained three conditions under which war could be justified. First, there must be
a Sovereign authority under which war is waged, and a private individual has no capacity to wage war.
Aquinas argues that, those in authority are responsible for the general good of the city, kingdom or
province under them, and they are allowed by law to use the sword to defend that good from internal
disturbance from evildoers. In the same way, Aquinas argues that it is the responsibility of the
authority to use the sword to defend the common good from external foes. Therefore, it is Aquina s
stand that those not in positions of power cannot declare war. This is because the defense of the public
is the responsibility of the legal authority ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This seems to agree with the position of St. Augustine in that; there must be wrongs commited by the
side that is fought. However, Augustine specifies that the group must have commited injustice to
humanity while Aquinas says that the group must have commited some fault which makes it deserve
the war. The condition that the group must deserve to be fought creates a problem of determining the
degree of fault that justifies war. Aquinas leaves the decision to the authorities to determine what kind
of fault makes a group to deserve being fought. However, Aquinas should have stated what conditions
make a group deserve war rather than leaving it to the authorities to avoid people going to war by ill
will. In contrast to Aquinas, Augustine was describing a defensive war necessitated by injustices,
while Aquinas seems to talk of offensive war. An analysis of the two theorists shows that Augustine is
for the idea that war should be avoided at all costs, while Aquinas would justify many

The Power Of The Pack Is Unleashed
In my office I have a picture on the wall of wolfs grouping together into a pack with one clear leader
standing tall in the mist of them. There is a motivational statement on the bottom, of which the final
wording reads by the strength of the leader the power of the pack is unleashed . This concept of the
power of the leader is universal in every business, to include nonprofits. But how is a Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) or Executive Director (ED) to lead in financial matters when they do not possess a
strong financial background? Within the following paragraphs we will look briefly at ways to ensure
the CEO or ED are strong financial leaders and steps to utilize in executing this financial leadership.
Ensuring Strong Financial Leadership
There are some that will say that true leaders surround themselves with great people. Although that
may be true, when it comes to the financial health of the organization, simply having a trusted Chief
Financial Officer (CFO), financial team, or financial consultant is not enough. A senior executive
without an understanding of finance cannot make use of such information or make financial decisions
to lead the organization well (Crawford, 2010). So what is an organization to do? The easiest, most
effective method is simply to recruit a leader that already has a background in finances. As reported in
Forbes magazine, about 30 percent of Fortune 500 CEOs spent the first few years of their careers
developing a strong foundation in

  • 2. The Effect Of An Auditory Signals On One s Perception Of... In this article, the researchers studied the effect of an auditory signal on one s perception of eye gaze. They mention that people are born with the ability to differentiate between direct and adverted gaze, and this ability becomes increasingly important throughout adulthood. Another important social signal involves a person s auditory system. In infancy, children become sensitive to hearing their own name. This auditory signal often occurs at the same time as direct eye contact. The researchers in this study were trying to determine the correlation between someone hearing his/her own name and that person s perception of the speaker s gaze. The article mentioned earlier studies have shown that a person s gaze tends to gravitate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were 6 males and 11 females with a mean age of 24.8 years and a standard deviation of 5.03 years. They used gray scale photographs with neutral expressions, and altered the position of the iris by increments of 1 pixel per image. This created the seven gaze deviations, including: direct gaze and gaze shifts (to both the left and right) of 4, 7, and 10 pixels. For the auditory stimuli, the researchers used recordings of four male speakers who would either say the participant s actual name or a control name. For the experiment, the researchers placed a monitor in front of the participants and performed 256 randomly presented trials (64 trials represented at direct gaze and 64 trials for each of the three gaze deviations). Each trial started with a central fixation cross on the screen between 500 and 1,750 ms. A variable interval approach was used in order to make sure the participants did not expect the stimuli. After the cross, the participant were shown a face for 600 ms, and they heard a name through headphones. They were given a 2,000 ms interval to press a button, reporting if they perceived the gaze of the face to be looking to the left, right, or directly at them. Result After the experiment, the researchers calculated the range of gaze deviations for the two conditions, own name and other name. They called these ranges ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Similarities And Differences Between Coming To America And... The following essay will compare and contrast two cultural productions that represent and depict Africa. The films Coming to America by John Landis and The Gods Must Be Crazy by Jamie Uys have similarities and differences according to the meaning of Africa. The similarities of these films are the use of the current English language, religion, comedy relief, traditions, and interpretation of Africans single story . The differences of these films are the time period, locations, clothing, articulation, and reputation. The cultural productions of Coming to America and The Gods Must Be Crazy can be compared and contrasted because both films exhibit a relationship that depicts how we think about Africa not as a place, but as people as a whole in the modern world. The depiction of the movie Coming to America and The God Must Be Crazy can be compared and contrasted on the films locations. In Coming to America Prince Akeem Joffer is from the nation of Zamunda, which is a fictional location. This location is only seen in the beginning and end of the film. The nation of Zamunda depicts the idea of Africa as a land of substantial wealth. In addition, Africa as people has the highest level of status and rights like having arranged marriages. In contrast, The Gods Must Be Crazy is set in Botswana, South Africa in the Kalahari Desert. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marley Quinn Marketing The marketing for Harley Quinn will follow that of what has been used to promote Suicide Squad, as well as other superhero action movies, both in the DC and Marvel Universe. Unlike the Marvel movies, Harley Quinn is coming after Harley Quinn s introduction in the Suicide Squad movie. Marvel did an opposite approach when it came to their superhero team movie, The Avengers, where the characters who made up the super team were given introduction movies before the release of the film that brings them all together. However, the marketing strategies that they used who be of interest to Harley Quinn, because their objective, to bring in audience members who were more interested in The Avengers than the individual movies, matches ours. For Thor: The Dark World, the trailer that Marvel released put its most recognizable characters at the front and center. Harley Quinn, can borrow from this tactic with its own trailer. While the character of Harley Quinn is currently not the most recognizable character with in Gotham, her story does include two of the most popular characters in comic book history. Overview Of The Superannuation Industry Overview of the superannuation Industry The introduction of superannuation funds is to provide retirement and death benefits to its members as the increase in Australia s ageing population has become problematic. By encouraging individuals to save more throughout their working life and to place those funds their retirement, the aim is to ensure a lesser proportion of public funds are directed towards pensions and enhance the living standards of retired Australians (ALRC, 2013). Dentists who own their own practices can expect to make anywhere from $150,000 a year to possibly even $164,000 or higher over time (Dentists: Salary). Over time pay for dentists in expected to go up since it has been on the rise for the past decade or longer. Dentists in their first year, naturally, will not make the same amount of money as an experienced practicing dentist will (Dentists: Salary). Notably, dentists make much more than many other health care professionals, including pharmacists, registered nurses, dental hygienists, and dental assistants. According to statistics, dentists tend to do better and make more money in certain cities across the United States (Dentists: Salary). Some of these cities include Holland, Michigan, Jacksonville, North Carolina, Nashua, New Hampshire, Rochester, New Hampshire, and Valdosta, Georgia. In all of these cities, dentists make over $250,000 a year (Dentists: Salary). With all of the work required of a dentist and with all of the patients that see a dentist, it is impossible for a dentist to run an office alone. One group of people that are essential to a dentist and to a dental office are dental hygienists. Ten years from the initial groundwork, in 1998, a provision was made that no longer made the outcomes of a student s disciplinary case involving violence or non forcible sex offenses protected from disclosure under federal laws concerning the privacy of students (Clery Center, n.d.). • 10. The Influence Of Vampires The popularity of vampires in films has increased dramatically over the past decade or so. Films such as Van Helsing, Fright night and Twilight have all paved the way for a new type of vampire that appeals to the audience for several different reasons. Leaving a lot of the traditional vampire traits behind, these films have created a new attractive vampire and in the case of twilight, a vampire that has feelings and emotions and does not want to drink human blood. These more modern vampires are not only more appealing to the viewer; they are also signifiers of the modern culture in which we live in today. In Van Helsing, the three brides of Dracula are strikingly beautiful women and Jerry the vampire in Fright Night is very handsome, and this fact is remarked by the female characters in the film on several occasions. The fact that these new modern vampires are seen as very sexual and extremely attractive individuals shows that the modern audience of the 21st century needs to be visually stimulated in more ways than one. The saying sex sells does indeed apply here. Along with being stimulated visually by the camera effects of these movies, audiences like looking at people who are attractive. This attractiveness adds to the appeal of vampires even more as they are becoming sexier, more enticing and even more alluring. Taking the aforementioned points into account, another vampire phenomenon which has hit the 21st century must be discussed. The Twilight Saga, which shows vampires in almost a completely different light, has swept across the world and has gathered a very strong and loyal fan base. However, contrary to what comes to mind in reality the justice system is rife with inequality, injustice, corruption and dishonestly. The definition for institutional inequality is the existence of unequal opportunities and rewards for different social positions or statuses within a group of society (about.com) and this is what people of color are facing on a daily basis. On this paper examined the research about the ratio of African American and other ethnic groups incarcerated versus whites, also how this affects the community, why such a high percentage of African Americans ages 25 29 are incarcerated and the racial disparities that exist in the justice system. Historically African Americans have been discriminated against in the United States and a system of race based hierarchy still exists. Angelou effectively contrives noteworthy differences between paragraphs 1 through 5 and 6 through 10 through the use of emotional and descriptive diction, powerfully bold comparisons, and a shift in perspective in order to instill pride and dignity in Angelou and her race despite the era s highlighted social injustices which she endures. Rhetorically, these contrasts signify that identical rhetorical strategies will have completely different connotations. Inherently, the focus of God is love and to respect His authority is to love Him. Learning to worship God as Trinity involves more than just searching for creative techniques. We need to know about the nature of our triune God if we are to worship him and enjoy him properly (Shaw 79). Often when I feel discouraged, the instinct is to blame God, the creator of everything. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in my own selfishness, that I forget all the things God has done, not just for me, but also for the world. His mercy is compassionate love for sinners who do not deserve the redemption in Christ that he offers. His grace likewise speaks of his free favor granted to sinners (Shaw 81). I am also reminded that God is transcendent. He surpasses time and money, earth and space. God is so important, that metaphors are constantly referred to as representing God: God is a rock, God is the light, God is the bread, God is a fortress, God is the potter and we are the clay (GCU text). The Importance of Loss in Scott Fitzgerald s Winter Dreams In the traditional Romance narrative, there is some desirable object whose consummation is the driving preoccupation of the text s protagonist. The aspiration of the Romantic hero is to capture that elusive object that will, nevertheless, consistently out strip him. These heroes are intimately acquainted with the pain of the loss and suffer deeply for feeling so acutely. Here we are operating in a decidedly liminal sphere. Fitzgerald masterfully weaves this intricate web whose lines are taut with the tension of the forces between which it is extended. He is quoted as having said of his celebrated The Great Gatsby (of which Winter Dreams is an early version): That s the whole burden of the novel the loss of illusions that give such color to the world so that you don t care whether things are true or false as long as they partake of the magical glory (Preface, Gatsby XV). Referring back to the pivotal Realist question, Fitzgerald seems to be indicating that what is as stake is the system that validates our notions of loss. The illusions that give such color to the world have allowed us to passionately bemoan the loss of isolated actualized selves, but strip away the illusion of the solipsistic being that is utterly impervious to social forces and one it left with nothing to bemoan. There is a passion in Winter Dreams protagonist Dexter Green that clings to the dream because The thing was deep in him. He was too strong, too alive for it to die lightly (2136). Although many in the South saw carpetbaggers as people who wanted to exploit and profit from the south s misfortunes, Carpetbaggers would play an important role in shaping the south s government during Reconstruction. African Americans in the south who had just been emancipated were restricted their freedom when southern legislatures passed black codes , which forced them into repressive labor situations. The Black Codes were laws designed with the intention to guarantee African American s availability as a cheap labor force after slavery was eliminated during the Civil War, and to keep white supremacy in place. Free shots, also known as free throws, are given to a player after being fouled. What do shooters focus on to score the given shots? They rely on what they can see. What if the net was removed? Would the player s free throw accuracy increase or decrease? Visual targets, can have a tremendous effect on one s shot. According to McCann, A. (2012), basketball players looking to make a shot would focus on the net or even the hooks that hold the net to the rim. The human body is a servant to touch, taste, smell, hearing, and sight. Reactions to the five senses cause chain reactions that generate a person s brain to release chemicals that produce responses. Sight enables a shooter to be aware of his or her distance to the basket. The sense of touch allows a shooter to realize the proximity of the basketball to his or her body. In the sport of basketball, when someone thinks of a perfect shot, it is normally a three point shot that hits nothing but net. What if there was no net on the rim? There would be no satisfaction of hearing the swish of the net after successfully knocking down the field goal attempt. Initial factors(IF 1, IF 2, IF 3) are required for the formation of the initiation complex described above. Once initiated, the polypeptide grows longer by covalently linking amino acids together. The ribosome has 3 binding sites for binding tRNA, 1 the peptidyl site (P site), 2 aminoacyl site (A site) and the 3 exit site (E site). At the beginning of elongagion, the P site is filled with fMet tRNA, and the A and E sites are empty. MRNA is bound to the ribosome in which its codon complement the anticodon of the tRNA at the P site. TRNA with anticodon to the codon of mRNA at the empty A site is inserted. A transpeptidation reaction occurs between the 2 amino acids carried by the tRNA, on the P and A site. This reaction results in the transfer of the amino acid in the P site to the amino acid in the A site. The ribosome now advances a distance of 1 codon and a new tRNA carrying the next amino acid moves into the A site where its anti codon matches the codon of the mRNA. The ribosome again shift down by a distance of 1 codon. • 34. School Shootings Guns in the Classroom 131 people have died in mass school shootings since 1999 to 2015 (Le Miere). This excludes any shootings that have resulted with 4 or less fatalities because they are not considered mass shootings. However, these tragic events can be prevented or stopped faster if a trained adult had presented a firearm. I believe that if a teacher would like to have a firearm in their classroom to help prevent any fatalities from possible school shootings they should be allowed. Many people oppose the concept of guns in the classroom, but a compromise can be found between the two sides of the continuum. These compromisation can be applied to the classroom to help stop school shootings and make sure school shootings don t occur. Many people oppose the concept of their being a gun in the classroom. These people who oppose it are a genuine part of the application process for this policy to be applied and their opinions and worries need to be heard. However not every need can be met most can and both sides can come to a compromise. The teacher not being able to handle the firearm or react in a dangerous situation is a big worry for many people. Most people would not have the nerve, rational thought, or skill to do it on the spot. Providing stop gap training would not address the whole picture. Long Term Space Travel And Its Effects On The Human Body Long term Space Travel and its Effects on the Human Body Synopsis: Humans are planning more space missions to Mars and deeper into the solar system. These manned missions require longer periods of time in space than any human has ever spent, as well as traveling farther from Earth s protection than ever before. There has been very little research conducted regarding the effects of prolonged space travel on the human body. This paper examines how space travel will likely alter bodily functions. The evolution of life on Earth means that humans are adapted and specialized to live and function in Earth s environment. The environment of open space presents hazards such as: solar radiation, microgravity, and extreme isolation. Prolonged exposure to these hazards could result in cardiovascular issues, cancers, cellular disruption, decreased bone density, osteoporosis, psychological issues, and more. It is important for scientists to research these hazards and their effects on the human body further so as to find solutions and ways to combat the negative outcomes. Exploration is a key component of human nature. Humans have always had the will to venture out into the unknown and explore new world. The curious and adventurous nature of mankind colonized the Earth and landed men on the moon. But what is the next step? How much farther can man go? • 42. Expressionism In Pink Panther When examining art, art theory can provide useful tools in understanding, appreciating, and extracting both superficial and deeper meanings from the work. It also assists in quantifying what art is; the case has been made that artistic license does not equate art, and boundaries help to create context and meaning. In Terry Barrett s book, Why is That Art?: Aesthetics and Criticism of Contemporary Art, he delves into art theory through the lens of realism, cognitivism, and expressionism, using contributions from theorists both ancient and modern. Renowned pop artist, Jeff Koons, presents something of an analytical conundrum in much of his art, as it can be analyzed through the lens of all three categories. His sculpture, Pink Panther, when analyzed through realism, provides a succinct reflection of many deeply ingrained cultural attitudes and expectations. The following will analyze Pink Panther using realism theory, offering a sample process of how such an analysis could occur. It will also subsequently evaluate the interpretation, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses that can be found when applying certain perspectives in art theory to a specific work of art. The fluidity of line is realistic, but the reflective glaze renders the figures shiny like a plastic toy. This, combined with the array of bold ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The question is; how can the states revise and disperse the amount of funding allocated for after school programs for the current number of children enrolled? How can we raise awareness about the higher enrollment after school programs offered for children of all ages? The current data shows the ratio of children enrolled versus the number of children not enrolled, offset the amount of dispersed funds, and varies state to state. The New Jersey Department of education allocates the funded money towards after school programs housed at public schools with a high enrollment rate while other states do not. This leaves a huge gap in society with not enough funds creatively used towards youth programs. The celebrated writer Charles Dickens often visited William s father, a renowned and wealthy doctor with a shared interest in child welfare. Dickens loved unusual names. He decorated his writings with them. At a party at the Marley home in 1843 he promised to make his host s then uncommon surname a household word. In A Christmas Carol , published that December, he named the main protagonist in the story for his friend. By New Years Eve, the book had sold fifteen thousand copies, and Dickens had honoured his promise. Throughout the United Kingdom, people spoke the names Scrooge, Cratchit, Fezziwig... and Marley. Dickens believed that if all children, whatever their circumstance, could attend school, society would benefit. The social message of A Christmas Carol inspired widespread enthusiasm for universal education; enthusiasm which gained momentum throughout the Victorian era, even in far distant corners of the Her Majesty s Realm. William Marley followed his father into medicine, but never achieved the same success. By 1884 he toiled far from the culture and learning of London in a remote corner of the Empire. St. Aquinas explained three conditions under which war could be justified. First, there must be a Sovereign authority under which war is waged, and a private individual has no capacity to wage war. Aquinas argues that, those in authority are responsible for the general good of the city, kingdom or province under them, and they are allowed by law to use the sword to defend that good from internal disturbance from evildoers. In the same way, Aquinas argues that it is the responsibility of the authority to use the sword to defend the common good from external foes.
