Deferred Maintenance Is Defined By Kaiser ( 2009 )
The topic of this paper is the use of public private partnerships to address deferred maintenance needs
on campus. Deferred maintenance is defined by Kaiser (2009) as maintenance work that has been
deferred on a planned or unplanned basis to a future budget cycle or postponed until funds are
available. This backlog of maintenance to physical plant is an issue for nearly all public higher
education institutions. Kaiser (1996) contends that deferred maintenance constitutes a genuine threat
to higher education institutions and their ability to accomplish their mission. The deteriorating
conditions of facilities can put universities at a disadvantage vis à vis other regional institutions in
regard to attracting and retaining students, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several years of delays in repairs has led to deterioration in some campus buildings that has caused
permanent damage. In assessing the best way to address the issues with maintenance, it has been
determined that the most cost effective and efficient way to proceed is through reconstruction since
the cost of repairs will add up to be about equivalent to the cost to rebuild some structures.
Considering that the institution has suffered financial losses over the years in other areas due to
deferred maintenance, this change is relevant because it has the ability to save the university money
over a long period of time. In addition, it puts the institution in a position where it can be aesthetically
and operationally competitive with its opposition.
As a means to make a incremental changes, while also being intentional about the campus scheduled
maintenance plan, it has been decided that ten buildings will be contracted out to a building
maintenance company every five years. The objective of this plan is to relieve the institution of the
financial responsibilities of small and large building maintenance projects and avoid the liabilities
associated with maintenance of campus buildings temporarily. This allows the institution to fully focus
efforts on developing curriculum and contributing the students experience in other ways.
After a period of twenty years in which the buildings are managed by the contracted maintenance
company, the institution will resume

The Benefits Of Physical Fitness
Physical fitness is to the human body a general state of health and well being, and more specifically,
the ability to perform aspects of sports or occupations.
Being fit doesn t mean being a champion in a particular discipline, or having muscles that pop out
from clothes... being fit means living healthy and accordingly being a happy person. Physical fitness is
generally achieved through a correct nutrition and a regular training activity. The benefits for being fit
are countless, not only the training and the healthy diet will help you to achieve a good body, but it
will also clean your mind and make you more happy and relaxed.

You obtain this energy from nutrients in the food that you eat mostly, carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
Minerals and vitamins are other nutrients that are also important in your diet to help your body stay
healthy. It is important to find the right balance between these different nutrients to achieve maximum
health benefits. A balanced diet generally contains food from each of the following food groups:
starchy foods (such as: bread, rice, potatoes, pasta...), fruit and vegetables, milk and dairy foods,
protein foods; these include meat, fish, eggs and other non dairy sources of protein (including nuts,
tofu, beans, pulses, etc.).
Fatty and sugary foods are the fifth food group that you eat.
However, only a small amount of what you eat should be made up from fatty and sugary foods. In
addition to the
above, having plenty of fiber and water in your diet is also important for your health.
The reasons that bring a person to be physically fit are numerous, from the benefits that offer to the
physical body till the ones that reach the brain and improve the general status of a person s mind at the
psychological level. Fitness may help prevent certain serious diseases such as high blood pressure,
diabetes, stroke, and heart disease. It may

The Upside Of Down Syndrome

The Upside of Down syndrome
Down syndrome is a common chromosomal disorder that is caused by abnormal cell division resulting
in extra genetic material from Chromosome 21. Down syndrome occurs frequently in that 1 out of 800
babies are born with this disorder. Those born with Down syndrome tend to experience specific
physical characteristics, cognitive impairments, mental and medical help problems. Down syndrome is
extremely special to me because I grew up with an aunt who has this disorder. My aunt Lisa is
beautiful, funny, outgoing, and smart. She lives and enjoys life as it is thrown to her. Some days are
harder than others, but she is 62 years old and refuses to let her disability hinder her life. Down
syndrome is not who she is, but something she has.
Dr. John Langdon Down was an English physician who had a strong calling towards mental
retardation and was the first to describe what he felt was someone with Down syndrome. He based his
findings off of distinct characteristics. Before this syndrome got the name Down syndrome he used the
term Mongloid due to the similarities that were shared in the Mongolian race. It wasn t until later
when they determined the cause of Down syndrome, which is an extra chromosome. Therefore
making Down syndrome a chromosomal disorder. This condition is characterized by a combination of
major and minor differences in body structure. Typically, doctors are able to

Outpatient Clinical Site Analysis
Today was my first day in the Hospital, and it was definitively a big difference compare to an
outpatient clinical site. The feeling of the hospital is so much more chaotic, and other techs are
definitively less patient and expect much more out of me. At Smil everyone seems to be more helpful,
understanding and calm. I felt everything was unorganized at the hospital and the entire time I had a
feeling of uncertainty and I was unsure who to follow, what to do and where to stand. The patients at
the hospital are also in a different category, it is not easy going from having all ambulatory patients, to
a non responsive patient as well as the inebriated ones. Today I also realized how true it is what you

War: a state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a nation or
state. War is not just a fight between two organized groups, it is a living hell where people decide if
they are going to live or die. The horrors of war are manifested with great detail and imagery in All
Quiet on the Western Front, The Hollow Men , and In the Field. War helps to show people the
nightmares of the world, soldiers can be overtaken by the awful experiences they encounter. When
Paul Baumer was visiting Kemmerich in the hospital, Kemmerich was close to death My thoughts
become confused. This atmosphere of carbolic and gangrene clogs the lungs, it is a thick gruel, it
suffocates (Remarque 29). Paul s senses were overtaken by war, the smell of the hospital overwhelms
him, but throughout war soldier s air they breathe, the sounds they hear, and the pain they endure is all
controlled by war. In The Hollow Men the soldiers are described as Sightless, unless/ The eyes
reappear (Elliott). When at war, soldiers are engulfed with the horrors of war, sensory experiences,
both good and bad, overwhelm the soldiers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the epigraph of the book Remarque writes I will try simply to tell of a generation of men who, even
though they may have escaped the shells, were destroyed by war (Remarque). Paul Baumer was
destroyed by war , even though he was not literally killed by a bullet, he watched all of his closest
friends suffer and expire. In the Field all of the soldiers were tired and miserable; all they wanted now
was to get it finished (O Brien). The soldiers were tired of fighting and watching their friends die. This
can be interpreted as they would rather die than suffer through war; the soldier s purpose was

Juvenile Delinquency Essay
Juvenile delinquents, or youth that have been convicted of a crime, seem to be the norm these days.
Citizens, families, and poliy makers want new programs and policies within the juvenile justice
system. Researchers have found that the family structure can be a precursor to delinquent behavior,
and families do not have the control or blance that they once did. As such, mew measures need to be
implemented to help these families in crisis. Rehabilitation of the family unit is the answer, say many,
not punishment. In response to this, new ideas have formed to rehabilitate the family unit, but first, the
family structures that are precursors to delinquent behavior must be identified. Family Life,
Delinquency, and Crime: A Policymaker s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book focuses on single parent homes, parental involvement, family tension and family economics
as key factors of juvenile delinquency. Although, Mr. Trojanowicz states family economics plays a key
role in determining juvenile delinquency. A family s inability to provide for the material needs of a
child can create insecurity in a child, thus, the child may seek material needs and suport from outside
the family (77). In conclusion he finds that many delinquents do not come from low income families,
and the economic condition of the family is probably one of the least meaningful contributing factors.
The research clearly shows and supports the theory that the family structure is directly related to
juvenile delinquency. What is society doing to help these families in trouble? Competency Training,
the Office of Juvenile Justice and Dleinquency Prevention (OJJDP), examines one of the family
programs that have been established. The program they examined was, Iowa s Strenghtening Families
Program. (ISFP) The SFP is a 7 week course designed to bring parents together with their 10 to 14
year old children, with the goal of reducing substance abuse and other problem behavior in youth. The
curriculum uses parallel content to emphasize, to the family and the youth, improved parenting skills,
and better communication for both parents and the youth. For example, while the parents are learning

incentive for these females to apply for jobs within the organization and move up the ladder which is a
well known fact that Tanglewood s core value is a standing relationship amongst its employees.
Promotion Practices Tanglewood is built on hard work and honesty, One of Tanglewood s core values
is to have an open floor when it comes to ideas within the organization. These new ideas are what
drive the company to be as successful as they are today. If you were to change this structure you
would be killing their corporate structure. Hard work and the ideas is the key to employees moving up
the chain of command. Hiring new graduates is another way to bring in new ideas to a company but it
has to be the correct job/ personality match for it to work. This is true with bringing in a manger with
experience into the company as well. If the core values of the company are different of that of the new
hires then your making a bigger issue within the organization. I would suggest that when making these
promotion or new hire decisions that they would first look from within the company and when all else
fails then look for that great fit from the outside workforce. Organizational Memo: When hiring and
promoting here at Tanglewood we want to give everyone the greatest chance of advancement as
possible. We want to be a company known for hard and honest workers.

Compare And Contrast Freerk V. Ray Freeark
LAWSUIT OVER THE ACCIDENT With the help of a lawyer named Ray Freeark, Jerry files a
lawsuit on April 18, 1972, against the State of Illinois hoping to collect damages in the sum of
$25,000. His case is built on the fact that because of the heavy rain over several days with the
temperature dropping below freezing that night, the state of Illinois was negligent in permitting flood
water to cover U.S. Route 50 where it crosses Silver Creek. Freeark argues that this area was dry and
in good condition when Jerry went to the game and that, following the same route back, with little or
no rain falling, he had no idea that Silver Creek was on the verge of flooding due to rain that had
fallen on the previous two days. The man who operated a wrecking

Gender Wage Gap Between Men And Women
You see charts and graphs of different types, shapes and colors used by writers all the time. But have
you ever thought of the reason for that or what role they have? Are they a critical piece in the article or
do they just sum up information and gather numbers in one place? To engage these questions, I will
consider the visual presentation of the gender wage gap between men and women by different
journalists. By the time you finish reading this essay, you will learn many facts about the graphs, how
they convey quantitative information, and how they differ from the language. Aside form the graph s
positives you should be aware of their potential for manipulation and that they are not as reliable and
unbiased as they might look. Writers always search for effective means to represent their ideas and
convey information to the audience. They aim to be persuasive in their debates and draw a strong
connection with the readers to affect them. To approach the gender wage gap issue, some writers use
only the language. In the article Fighting The Gender Pay Gap, the author Carl Richard addresses the
issue as a personal problem that he discussed with his daughter and his friends. He draws a direct
connection with the readers who link that to their personal experiences. Also, Richard, through his
words, is encouraging the audience to start taking actions to solve this problem that affects many other
women like his daughter. By the advice directed to his daughter, he is sending an

The Driving Causes Of The Taranaki War
Causes of the Taranaki conflict of the 1860s and beyond
There were a number of driving causes of the Taranaki wars. The four most significant driving causes
of the Taranaki wars include the Musket Wars, conflicting beliefs about sovereignty between the
Maori and Pakeha, conflicting beliefs about land ownership between the Maori and Pakeha and the
selling of the Pekapeka block.
A significant cause of the Taranaki wars is the Musket Wars. Musket wars were inter tribal wars
between different Maori tribes in the 1820s/18230s. They were one of the most lethal inter tribal wars
in Maori history due to the introduction of Muskets by the British. Historically, Maori wars were
fought in the Autumn after food had been stored for the winter. Hand to hand weapons such as mere
and patu were used and wars were ritualised activities which caused few deaths. Maori had non
violent ways of resolving disputes. These include tactics such as diplomacy, arranged marriages, gifts,
asset stripping and escape to avoid war. The leader of the Ngapuhi tribe, Hongi Hika was seen as
responsible for the Musket Wars. Hongi s uncle and two brothers were killed in a battle with Ngati
Whatua, and Hongi felt obliged to avenge them. The musket wars were New Zealand wide, and the
Northern rivals Ngapuhi and Ngati Whatu led the way, however the heaviest fighting took place
between Ngati Toa and Ngai Tahu in the South Island. Ngai Puhu first used muskets in battle in 1807.
In 1818, Ngapuhi began to use muskets in battle, wreaking havoc down the North Island. Hongi led
his taua south, destroying 50 Maori villages along the east coast. 2000 people were enslaved for
labour to produce profits to purchase Muskets. In 1821, Hongi acquired 300 muskets, escalating the
fighting. He then attacked rivals in Auckland, capturing another 2000 slaves. Maori without muskets
were forced to trade with the British for them in order to survive. Tribes threatened with attack had no
choice but to buy their own guns and launch their own campaigns. The fighting reached a height in the
1820s. In 1822, Te Rauparaha led the Ngati Toa tribe down the North Island, attacking other tribes
along the way. Taranaki iwi fled south to join a confederation which defeated opposing

Eclectic Theatre
DRAMA
Transition to Eclectic
Realism provides only amoral observation, while absurdism rejects even the possibility of debate.
(Frances Babbage, Augusto Boal). The cynicism of this remark reflects the aberrant attitude towards
absurdism, yet there is truth to it. Theatre of the absurd is an esoteric avant garde style of theatre based
on the principles of existentialism that looks at the world without any assumption of purpose.
Existentialism and Theatre of the Absurd became identified with a cultural movement that flourished
in Europe in the 1940s and 1950s, after the Second World War. The idea that man starts with nothing
and ends with nothing is a common theme amongst most absurd plays. Despite this strange

The Caretaker follows no such structure, with a metaphysical approach that promotes a mystical and
confusing mode. Pinter divorces and exposes society s codes, institutions and human relations.
Throughout the play the audience is rarely comfortable. This disruption is established from the outset
of the play when Mick, a character who at this stage of the play the audience knows nothing about, sits
on the bed and stares at the audience in silence for 30 seconds . Mick s arrival on stage generates
unease within the audience and the tension only increases as Pinter provides the audience with no
explanation for his being there. Mick leaves the stage in a state of maintained silence; hence the first
images presented in the play confront and challenge many of the assumptions of a traditional theatrical
experience. Pinter does not adhere to the accepted use of dramatic conventions. There is no traditional
relation of character histories within the opening scenes and lack of revelation is maintained
throughout the play as relatively little is exposed about the character s backgrounds. This makes
events within the room conditional phenomena, which are dependent on the individuals involved and
what the audience is able to interpret.
A distinguishing feature separating realism from absurd is the style of language employed throughout
the plays. In A Streetcar Named Desire the

Essay on Evolution Embedded in Symbols
Evolution Embedded in Symbols
Two billion years ago two prokaryotes bumped into each other and formed the first multi cellular
organism. 65 million years ago an asteroid hit the earth and dinosaurs became extinct. Three days ago,
in your notebook you drew a mess of squiggles which to you represented Jackson Pollock s painting,
Number 1, 1948. You wrote the word entropy on the upper left hand corner of the page. On the bottom
right hand side you wrote, Creativity is based on randomness and chance.

investigation of the human fixation with the creation of symbols via art and writing. But is also about
how the symbols drawn in one s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In her book, On Beauty and Being Just, Elaine Scarry states that beauty incites replication (4). Like a
history of evolution, a history of human symbolic representation is heavily dependent on the act of
reproduction. This reproduction has manifested itself quite literally. For example, when a painter finds
something in nature to be beautiful, she can reproduce it on the canvas and when a writer finds a
moment to be inspiring, she can transcribe the moment into a set of instructions [i.e. words] about how
[a reader] can imagine or construct [that moment] (Dreaming by the Book, Scarry, 6). Like sexual
reproduction which allows organisms to share their genetic material in order to continue species and to
create new organisms, pictures and words help with a lateral transfer of cultural information, its
continuance and recombination. To create a symbol of something with a string of words or with an art
material is to perpetuate that which is beautiful for future generations.
According to Dennett, before there were words, there were no word meanings, even if there were
other sorts of meanings. (402) Dennett s hypothesis reminds us, at the most basic level that symbols
mean something. To say that there are only a couple of meanings behind all artwork and writing would
be to deny the complexity of the human symbol making and

Analysis Of Man On Wire
Most people would consider dancing 1,300 feet above the ground on a high wire a death wish, but for
Philippe Petit this was his greatest desire. In the documentary Man on Wire, the director James Marsh,
brilliantly introduces Philippe Petit, a Frenchman who has a passion for high wire walking who chases
his dreams despite all the risks that are involved, including death. No matter how many obstacles
come across Petits path, he fights through to make his dream a reality. Marsh creates this incredible
film by demonstrating Petit s strong passion through interviews, and gripping footage.
Marsh s use of interviews and testimonies in Man on Wire makes the audience feel as if they are a part
of the breathtaking adventures that Petit conquers. Petit introduces his unimaginable dream by
explaining, My story is a fairy tale.. One day those towers will be built. When they are they will be the
highest in the world. Now I need to have that. This reveals the beginning of Petit s obsession with the
twin towers. Showing the audience how important making this dream a reality is to him. To Petit, each
building he strung his wire and roamed across was a form of criminal artistry. This beautiful crime
was his way of conquering the world, one building at a time, as if they were made especially for him.
The connection that Petit felt with all the buildings, that seemed to be made for him, was like a
magnetic force that he could not deny. While going to walk across the twin towers Petit says

The Olympic Games Of Ancient Greek Athletics
Stephen G. Miller, an expert Yale professor in the field of Ancient Greek athletics states that the
Olympics were held in honor of Zeus in the city of Olympia (Miller). The element of religion is
evident in this historical event. Many people have heard of the concepts of the Greek Gods, but this
level of religious involvement is interesting. These games were held for four days every fourth
summer , a tradition that partially continues to this day (Miller). Many festivals in ancient Greece
were dedicated to the Gods (Miller). In addition to the Olympic Games, there were also other athletic
festivals which included the Pythian Games at Delphi, the Isthmian at Corinth, and the Nemean at
Argos (Miller). However, the Olympics at Olympia were the oldest and most prestigious of the four
great ancient Greek athletic festivals. The height of the Olympic Games occurs between the fifth and
fourth centuries B.C. During this period, the games became more and more professionalized until they
provoked much censure during the Roman period (Miller). This is somewhat similar to the present day
games where the competitors are supposed to be amateurs, but many are professionals at their craft.
Take for example the United States basketball squad. For decades this team has consisted of the best
professionals the country has to offer. This is still a tradition, or problem, the games experience today.
The Greek games were very nationalistic and it is said that states were said to have

Standardized tests are a positive way to look at student growth and if students are reaching national
benchmarks. Many standardized tests are a useful tool when deciding what college to attend, for
example, the MCAT is a medical standardized that is required for all admittees into medical school.
Around the country, many children are able to conform to teacher made tests and how to navigate
through them, although with standardized tests, they are raw and able to show if a student is really
struggling in a specific area. Standardized tests are useful in schools across the country because they

Taxation Of The United States
Tax is an amount of money that a government requires people to pay according to their income, the
value of their property and that is used to pay for the things done by the government. It is a charge
usually of money imposed by authority on persons or property for public purposes. According to
random history website, the history of taxation in the United States begins with the colonial protest
against British taxation policy in the 1760s, leading to the American Revolution. The independent
nation collected taxes on imports (tariffs), whiskey, and (for a while) on glass windows. Taxation
started to help pay for Civil War in the U.S in July 1861. In 1913, before the start of WWI the current

Bernard Williams Utilitarianism
Ultimately, I believe that Bernard Williams argument that utilitarianism is inconsistent with personal
integrity is right. It removes the ability for formulate a decision based on one s own ideas and values.
Utilitarianism can truly limit one s life and that is not right. The basis of morality is the quality of
being in accord with standards of right or good conduct. Therefore, morality cannot demand that one
make decisions that he/she truly does not choose. Every person has a free will and should be able to
make decisions for his or herself. With that, everyone has projects or goals he/she want to fulfill based
on his/her own interests. These plans are projects that are integral to who that person is and the person

not turn the channel. The woman s name was Sophia and she made me laugh from the time I had
started watching the TV show until it had gone off. That day Lifetime was running a marathon of the
Golden Girls; those four ladies made me giggle, and smile. So it was then that I started to wonder
about who is behind the TV shows and movies, because I saw myself being that person. At that time I
did not know about a producer or film maker all that I knew is that I wanted to become a part of tv
shows. The Golden Girls made me want to have my own TV series that was just as funny, and that
would make people laugh just as I had done when I watched it. I began carrying a notebook and a pen
everywhere I would go. I would jot down funny lines, and different ideas for scripts for a movie or a
TV series. I then realized that I wanted to become a screenwriter and a film producer. As a
screenwriter, I want to create TV series that brings joy and comfort to all people, no matter what. My
goal as a screenwriter and

The Deregulation Of Domestic Financial Sector
Today, it is considered to be a common knowledge, that the deregulation of domestic financial sector
and opening of capital account of the balance of payments played a major role in the recent economic
crisis of 2007 08. Policies, that have been stated above can be put together and named as the
liberalization of the capital account. Liberalization stands for lessening of government regulations and
restrictions in the economy. It offers a certain sector of the economy an opportunity to compete
internationally. However, there are a number of risks connected with liberalization, which will be
discussed later in this paper. Thus, the question is as follows: is liberalization worth the risk, or a wise
implementation of capital controls leads to potentially more positive outcomes for the global
economy? Since late 1970 s and up until the Great Recession, the ultimate goal of many economies of
the world was to move towards a fully opened capital account. In theory, this would allow a more
efficient allocation of global financial resources: capital would flow from rich industrial economies
into rising, yet poor developing countries where it would contribute to economic growth by increasing
consumption and level of income. The amount of capital inflows in developing countries tripled from
approximately $50 billion in 1987 1989 to $150 billion in 1995 19971. During these years, many
economies of Latin America and Asia, which had some of the most opened capital accounts in the
world,

The Road
The Road is an enthralling movie experience of the book that brings out powerful
emotions to the audience by visually depicting the sacred connection between father and son.
The world has practically ended and it is up to the survivors to choose how they keep
living in this post apocalyptic world. Many people resort to cannibalism which our main
characters did not, for they are the good guys that are carrying the fire everywhere they go.
Through many ordeals and nightmares of being eaten, our father and son duo learns from each
other on how to still be human in this godforsaken world.
Despite the dark and grim theme, this movie gave me a pleasant surprise. A lot of people
may not like the movie for its gore and violence, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adults, especially ones with children will be able to
sympathize with the movie very well. Most parents will be able to appreciate the messages that
are being imparted from the movie to the audience, reaching the full potential of the film as
intended. Teenagers, on the other hand, would also be interested in this movie, mainly because of
its post apocalyptic genre that has been booming in the past few years.
In the movie, a lot of green screen was used, and I am surprisingly okay with it. The
movie was shot beautifully, camera angles succeeded in showing the bleak backgrounds and a
very good atmosphere creation overall. Hillcoat also likes to do a lot of close ups which would
be very corny if the actors were not able to perform as intended. One thing that bothered me at
the end of the movie is the fact that another family was following the father and the son all along.
What would be the reason for that? I feel the need for that to be justified.
Overall, the movie is quite depressing, but in a good way. It is definitely not a movie that
you can easily watch and relax to, but altogether an intense experience. This movie is also a

The Importance Of Saying All Lives Matter
I strongly dislike when people lack understanding. When it comes to the Black Lives Matter
movement, why are people quick to raise All Lives Matter ? Instead of trying to understand the
hardship and racism that African Americans face, people are quick to be defensive and assume that if
Black lives matter then all of a sudden now no one elses lives matter. Saying All Lives Matter is a
selfish sentiment showing that people lack a level of compassion when it comes to an issue that does
not address them. I think that this an inhuman and wrong way of thinking. I believe that having
abortions are wrong because that is destroying a life created by God. I think that there are natural ways
to prevent pregnancy such as natural family planning where

As I look forward to graduation in the spring, I prepare myself for the great challenges I may
encounter while envisioning a future executive position that allows me to make a difference in my
industry. Mulcahey has taught me how important it is to be a fair and honest leader; if I can take time
off for family events then my employees should have the same opportunity. Similar to Mulcahey, I
grew up in a family invested in the automotive industry however unlike the experience she is giving
her son my parents were hardly around and I wouldn t change my experience because it has made me
who I am. However, I hope to provide an opposite experience for my children demonstrating that
proper leadership overflows into all aspects of one s life. Looking to the future, I find great interest in
her involvement in Penske s mentor program as I believe that the best way to learn about an
organization s culture and operations is through an employee who has been with the company. Ms.
Mulcahey explained how important this program is to her because when she began working for

Essay on Love Is a Roller Coaster
Love is a Roller Coaster In our lifetime, one is likely to ride a roller coaster at least once. We also may
experience the feeling of love with someone we consider special. Both, being in love and riding a
roller coaster, will cause a person to feel different emotions, some sad and some joyful. Just like a
roller coaster has to remain on its tracks in order to function properly, a relationship has to have
boundaries in order to flourish. We look forward to the roller coaster ride and the possibility of love
with much excitement, but in the end we have to decide if the ride was worth it. The roller coaster

Along with our first love, comes our first heartbreak. Feelings will emerge when we meet someone
who we are attracted to and/or find interesting. These feelings of infatuation can eventually lead to
love. We find ourselves looking forward to seeing that special someone again and again. Every
conversation is meaningful and each time we see him/her, our surroundings seem like a blur because
we are solely focused on him/her. Every slight touch will be thrilling and tender at the same time. You
are anxious while getting ready for the first date. You make sure you look your best and go over every
detail that will help make a good first impression. You re nervous, but yet so excited to spend some
quality time with that person you can t seem to stop thinking about. In the beginning of any

The Maple Leaf Has A Symbol Of Canadian Pride Essay
The Canadian flag was adopted by the Canadian Parliament October 22, 1964, and the official
inauguration ceremony took place February 15, 1965. Ever since, the maple leaf has been a symbol of
Canadian pride. The definition of colonization is a process by which a central system of power
dominates the surrounding land and its components. Although Canada has seemed to have a somewhat
decent relationship with Britain, the British colonizers decided to take full control over Canada while
doing that the British treated the Native Americans with pure disrespect and treated them pretty harsh
overall therefore the British had a bad impact on Canada.
Before Great Britain had came and invaded Canada, Canada was heavily populated with families and
loved one and was home to many. For example, There were many colonies that lived in Canada before
the Britain colonizers arrived such as the Algonquin, Iroquois,Huron, and Inuit tribes who had lived in
there for thousands of years ( Canada ). This quote shows the number of people and colonies that lived
in Canada and how populated Canada was before the British came and invaded. Exploration of
Canada began in the eleventh century, when the Norse first reached Newfoundland, but it was the
voyages of Italian navigator John Cabot (c. 1450 c. 1499) in the late fifteenth century that sparked
European interest in establishing settlements there. ( Canada ). This quote shows that the long journey
that was taken by John Cabot to the Newfoundland

Functional Impairment Analysis
Functional Impairment Autistic individuals struggle daily with social impairments like the use of non
verbal behaviors , creating and keeping friendships, and lack of interest in others (Orsmond, Krauss,

their peers as much as typical children (Orsmond et al., 2004). Also, they rarely ever initiate
conservations, making potential friendship more problematic to maintain (Orsmond et al., 2004). A
study showed that 47% of individuals had no friends that shared the same interests (Orsmond et al.,

Outside Beauty And Staying Forever Young
Outside beauty and staying forever young are the newest trends among today s society. Women are the
highest percentage of this trend because women have been conditioned at young age to believe outer
beauty is unsurpassed. Plastic or cosmetic surgery in the past has been kept hushed, never knowing
did she have her nose worked on? Today plastic surgery is being embraced by the millions and highly
looked upon. Recently a friend of mine had a breast augmentation. Her argument was the need to feel
more confident in her own body. She felt out of proportion to the rest of her body. Young and old
women today feel the need to look like Barbie, which undoubtedly comes from the need to replicate
their favorite celebrities. Other causes for plastic or cosmetic surgery come from low self esteem
issues, sexual satisfaction and the need to be accepted as beautiful.
For Instance, in 2000 more than 6.3 million women went under the knife by surgeons certified by the
American Board of Plastic Surgery, says the American Society of Plastic Surgeons statistics. The five
most popular invasive surgical procedures for women in 2000 were liposuction, eyelid surgery, nose
reshaping, breast augmentation and facelift (ASPS statistics). There were nearly 11.9 million surgical
and non surgical cosmetic procedures performed in 2004, according to the most comprehensive survey
to date of U.S. physicians and surgeons by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
(ASAPS Statistics).

Multilayered Structured Sun
2. The sun being a multilayered structure has 3 main layers. There is the Chromosphere, the
Photosphere and the Corona. The photosphere is mainly the thinnest layer of gas where Earth receives
the sunlight from and convection occurs right under the photosphere. The motion of hot materials
rising while the cooler materials sink and this causes granulation. Granulation also known as the
mottled appearance is the dark regions and that is how the energy inside the sun is transferred out.
7. When looking at the sun you would imagine that the surface would be boiling. But since the surface
of the sun is actually pretty cool it causes very few hydrogen atoms to have electrons in the excited
states. With the hydrogen atom providing a limited amount of excited electrons it would cause us not
to see it on the spectral line. But unlike the hydrogen being abundant, calcium isn t. Calcium has
enough electrons to transfer from the ground state and make an appearance on the spectral lines
because it isn t abundant.
9. We don t have evidence that sunspots are magnetic but we do know that the sunspots are caused by
the magnetic activity amongst the sun. Also with the understanding of the Zeeman effect we can
conclude how strong the magnetic fields are that cause the sunspots. In conclusion we see that
sunspots are in fact apart of the magnetic field in the layers of the suns atmosphere.

Marshall et al., (1999), interviewed a diversity of professional salespeople to give evidence for 49 new
sales activities that were not pointed out in Moncrief s (1986) original list. These latest activities fall
into the following main categories: communication technology, selling technology, activities related to
adaptive and consultative selling, and team oriented activities. Many of the specific activities within
these categories involve skills and content knowledge dissimilar from those traditionally observed in
the past as key salesperson success factors.
This study therefore investigates the salesperson professional selling (salesperson knowledge and
adaptive selling) and the effect on buyer and salesperson relationship through customer loyalty, in the
Malaysian retail sector. Oliver s (1997) model which follows the cognition affect conation pattern is
use in the development of this study.

2.1 Sampling design
To have a representative finding, the sampling technique used must be objective. This is an important
effort adopted by most researchers in order to furnish a finding pertinent to the general. To choose the
sample for this study, probability random sampling was used. A probability sample is necessary if the
sample is to be representative of the population
(Reeves, 1992). Therefore, a two stage systematic sampling technique is employed in this study.

Why You Should Get Excited for the Premiere of MAN SEEKING WOMAN
Has the show MAN SEEKING WOMAN ever crossed your television screen? It comes on the same
channel as IT S ALWAYS SUNNY and premieres right after on January 4th, 2017 at 10:30 PM ET/PT.
So, instead of going to bed and catching some zzz s make sure you tune into MAN SEEKING
WOMAN season three. But, of course, I won t just tell you to watch it without giving you a few
reasons why this show is great.
MAN SEEKING WOMAN is based on Simon Rich s book of short stories, The Last Girlfriend on
Earth. Rich created the 10 episode scripted comedy and serves as Executive Producer/Showrunner.
Jonathan Krisel, Andrew Singer, Lorne Michaels, and Broadway Video serve as Executive Producers.
MAN SEEKING WOMAN is produced by FX Productions.
MAN SEEKING WOMAN is about a character named Josh Greenberg (Jay Baruchel) and his life
throughout his relationship troubles. Although, it is about his relationship troubles, it delves deeper
than that. The surface is not the only issue Josh has with his life. It is also about the troubles of
commitment and being in a relationship for anyone in their 20 s. Josh is a 20 something year old guy
who seems to be meeting the wrong women in his life. Either that, or the wrong women keep meeting
him and therefore results in a failure of a relationship or the beginning of one. However, it could also
be his terrible job, apartment and confidence in general or everything combined.

a source of common battery use, but rather powerful equipment needing to run for long, extended

Now we will discuss a brief history of early atomic battery development.
Henry G. J. Moseley, known for developing the Atomic Number and numerous other contributions to
physics and chemistry, created the first known atomic battery in 1913 with his demonstration of the
beta cell. He experimented with a radioactive isotope of the element radium, and the respective
emissions of beta particles, to form the first atomic battery (source 5). This first crude battery saw
minimal success and effectiveness, and it wasn t until 1954 when the Radio Corporation of America
(RCA) began studying atomic batteries for the use of small radio receivers and hearing aids that
atomic batteries became practical and more potential was realized (source 6). Moving forward to the
1980 s, inventor Paul Brown developed an atomic battery that was much more powerful than most
thermal batteries out at the time. Brown used the emission of alpha and beta particles in radioactive
materials to create an extremely powerful magnetic field. As discussed before, these alpha and beta
particles contain kinetic energy to help collide atomic particles. The energy produced from this system
was so rapid and immense that controlling the cell was extremely difficult. This proved to be a
towering roadblock for most scientists to continue research for atomic batteries, until Brown was able
to invent an approach to encompass the uncontrollable magnetic fields. This battery was so powerful

NASA s decision was mainly influenced by the price. Other competitors such as Orbital ATK and
SpaceX has more affordable options (PASZTOR). The company s bid consisted of the Jupiter reusable
spacecraft, Exoliner cargo container and a long robotic arm inspired by a similar appendage on the
space shuttle (Keeney). The contract would have impacted the 5,500 people who work at Lockheed
Martin Space Systems.
Another key issue that the space systems industry itself faces is the growing cyber attacks. These
potential cyber attacks affect the functionality of existing satellites and potentially destroy them for
good (Kim). The space systems industry needs to look for alternatives to assess the growing threats.

Martin Luther Influence On Religion
Religion in the 15th Century has evolved in many ways into the different religions we now practise
today. Founder of the Lutheran Church, Martin Luther has played a vital role in the evolution. Martin
Luther was a was an Augustinian monk who was later promoted to a professor of Biblical literature at
Wittenberg University. Luther s religious vocation led him into a severe personal crisis: how, he
wondered, is it possible to reconcile the demands of God s law with human inability to live up to the
law? Luther s belief led him to his further accusation against the Catholic church in 1517. The church
s current leader, Pope Leo X, offered indulgences to the society in order to raise money for the

He changed Christianity due to his belief that had caused him a personal crisis: how is it possible to
reconcile the demands of God s law with human inability to live up to the law? According to
Britannica School (2016) he found his answer in the New Testament book of Romans: God had, in the
obedience of Jesus, reconciled humanity to Himself. What was required of mankind, therefore, was
not strict adherence to law or the fulfillment of religious obligations, but a response of faith that
accepted what God had done. Such faith would lead to an obedience based on love, not fear. On
October 31 in 1517, a list of 95 propositions were nailed to the door of the church in Wittenberg by
Luther himself. One of the many points denied the right of the pope to forgive the people s sins by the
purchase of indulgences. These proposals were then spread over Germany and in result caused a great
controversy. The current Pope ordered that Luther appear before Cardinal Cajetan in Augsburg Here
Luther was told by the cardinal to retract all that he had proposed, however, Luther refused to do such
a thing unless his point could be proved wrong to him by the Bible. Therefore, it can be that Luther s
belief and actions changed the Church as he had stopped the purchase of indulgences to forgive people
s sins as he was against the

How To Create Suspense In Hitchcock s Rear Window
The movie that I chose to critique is Rear Window, a realist film by Alfred Hitchcock produced in
1954. Starring James Stewart, Grace Kelly and, Wendell Corey. The genre is thriller and the sub genre
is suspense infused with mystery. Rear Window is one of Alfred Hitchcock s most inspired audience
participation films. When a person watches it, he feels, tantalized, shocked, and exhilarated. Further in
this essay, I will summarize the plots, discuss the styles used, and deconstruct parts of the film.

Alfred Hitchcock, the director points it out to the audience as he concentrates on Jeff focusing on what
s happening inside his neighborhood. He allows the audience to stay focused as we become voyeurs
and see the various dramas that are being unfolded. Hitchcock has great technical brilliance with a
great ability to portray a story in a very distinctive manner. He uses the technique of dramatic
variation of size to achieve other desired emotions from the audience, by cutting from long shots to
extreme close ups. The story line in the film revolves around voyeurism, guilt, friendship, and
sexuality. Moreover, the editing techniques in the film are used to raise attention to the events that are
unfolding in front of us. The shots in the movie are connected in a relatively subjective style.
According to Hitchcock Cutting should not be thought of in terms of cutting but rather in terms more
like assembly or Mosaic (Hitchcok, 1963, p.4). Montage, is the process or technique of selecting and
piecing together separate sections of film to form a continuous whole. When two shots are juxtaposed
in such a way it gives the third another meaning. This is one classic examples of Alfred Hitchcock s
way of thinking. The use voyeurism in the film makes the audience conscious of why the protagonist
is behaving in a certain

The Historical Context Of The Laguna Pueblo Reservation
The historical context of the Laguna Pueblo reservation deals with the Native American culture, as
well as with the differing racial views of that time.
The people of the Laguna Pueblo reservation had a respect for the land they lived on. Exhibiting the
beliefs of most Native American tribes, they always hunted in certain places and knew the balance of
the earth. When other people, the white people (page 172), started to overtake the land, they knew
they would not be able to stop them from demolishing both the land and the animals that lived there.
This shows the evolution of the Native American culture and life as other settlers with differing beliefs

  • 2. Deferred Maintenance Is Defined By Kaiser ( 2009 ) The topic of this paper is the use of public private partnerships to address deferred maintenance needs on campus. Deferred maintenance is defined by Kaiser (2009) as maintenance work that has been deferred on a planned or unplanned basis to a future budget cycle or postponed until funds are available. This backlog of maintenance to physical plant is an issue for nearly all public higher education institutions. Kaiser (1996) contends that deferred maintenance constitutes a genuine threat to higher education institutions and their ability to accomplish their mission. The deteriorating conditions of facilities can put universities at a disadvantage vis à vis other regional institutions in regard to attracting and retaining students, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several years of delays in repairs has led to deterioration in some campus buildings that has caused permanent damage. In assessing the best way to address the issues with maintenance, it has been determined that the most cost effective and efficient way to proceed is through reconstruction since the cost of repairs will add up to be about equivalent to the cost to rebuild some structures. Considering that the institution has suffered financial losses over the years in other areas due to deferred maintenance, this change is relevant because it has the ability to save the university money over a long period of time. In addition, it puts the institution in a position where it can be aesthetically and operationally competitive with its opposition. As a means to make a incremental changes, while also being intentional about the campus scheduled maintenance plan, it has been decided that ten buildings will be contracted out to a building maintenance company every five years. The objective of this plan is to relieve the institution of the financial responsibilities of small and large building maintenance projects and avoid the liabilities associated with maintenance of campus buildings temporarily. This allows the institution to fully focus efforts on developing curriculum and contributing the students experience in other ways. After a period of twenty years in which the buildings are managed by the contracted maintenance company, the institution will resume ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Upside Of Down Syndrome Lauren Thometz November 11, 2014 Anatomy/Physiology 1 Research Paper The Upside of Down syndrome Down syndrome is a common chromosomal disorder that is caused by abnormal cell division resulting in extra genetic material from Chromosome 21. Down syndrome occurs frequently in that 1 out of 800 babies are born with this disorder. Those born with Down syndrome tend to experience specific physical characteristics, cognitive impairments, mental and medical help problems. Down syndrome is extremely special to me because I grew up with an aunt who has this disorder. My aunt Lisa is beautiful, funny, outgoing, and smart. She lives and enjoys life as it is thrown to her. Some days are harder than others, but she is 62 years old and refuses to let her disability hinder her life. Down syndrome is not who she is, but something she has. Dr. John Langdon Down was an English physician who had a strong calling towards mental retardation and was the first to describe what he felt was someone with Down syndrome. He based his findings off of distinct characteristics. Before this syndrome got the name Down syndrome he used the term Mongloid due to the similarities that were shared in the Mongolian race. It wasn t until later when they determined the cause of Down syndrome, which is an extra chromosome. Therefore making Down syndrome a chromosomal disorder. This condition is characterized by a combination of major and minor differences in body structure. Typically, doctors are able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Outpatient Clinical Site Analysis Today was my first day in the Hospital, and it was definitively a big difference compare to an outpatient clinical site. The feeling of the hospital is so much more chaotic, and other techs are definitively less patient and expect much more out of me. At Smil everyone seems to be more helpful, understanding and calm. I felt everything was unorganized at the hospital and the entire time I had a feeling of uncertainty and I was unsure who to follow, what to do and where to stand. The patients at the hospital are also in a different category, it is not easy going from having all ambulatory patients, to a non responsive patient as well as the inebriated ones. • 6. Comparing All Quiet On The Western Front, The Hollow Men,... War: a state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a nation or state. War is not just a fight between two organized groups, it is a living hell where people decide if they are going to live or die. The horrors of war are manifested with great detail and imagery in All Quiet on the Western Front, The Hollow Men , and In the Field. War helps to show people the nightmares of the world, soldiers can be overtaken by the awful experiences they encounter. When Paul Baumer was visiting Kemmerich in the hospital, Kemmerich was close to death My thoughts become confused. This atmosphere of carbolic and gangrene clogs the lungs, it is a thick gruel, it suffocates (Remarque 29). Paul s senses were overtaken by war, the smell of the hospital overwhelms him, but throughout war soldier s air they breathe, the sounds they hear, and the pain they endure is all controlled by war. In The Hollow Men the soldiers are described as Sightless, unless/ The eyes reappear (Elliott). When at war, soldiers are engulfed with the horrors of war, sensory experiences, both good and bad, overwhelm the soldiers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the epigraph of the book Remarque writes I will try simply to tell of a generation of men who, even though they may have escaped the shells, were destroyed by war (Remarque). Paul Baumer was destroyed by war , even though he was not literally killed by a bullet, he watched all of his closest friends suffer and expire. In the Field all of the soldiers were tired and miserable; all they wanted now was to get it finished (O Brien). The soldiers were tired of fighting and watching their friends die. • 7. Juvenile Delinquency Essay Juvenile delinquents, or youth that have been convicted of a crime, seem to be the norm these days. Citizens, families, and poliy makers want new programs and policies within the juvenile justice system. Researchers have found that the family structure can be a precursor to delinquent behavior, and families do not have the control or blance that they once did. As such, mew measures need to be implemented to help these families in crisis. Rehabilitation of the family unit is the answer, say many, not punishment. In response to this, new ideas have formed to rehabilitate the family unit, but first, the family structures that are precursors to delinquent behavior must be identified. The book focuses on single parent homes, parental involvement, family tension and family economics as key factors of juvenile delinquency. Although, Mr. Trojanowicz states family economics plays a key role in determining juvenile delinquency. A family s inability to provide for the material needs of a child can create insecurity in a child, thus, the child may seek material needs and suport from outside the family (77). In conclusion he finds that many delinquents do not come from low income families, and the economic condition of the family is probably one of the least meaningful contributing factors. The research clearly shows and supports the theory that the family structure is directly related to juvenile delinquency. What is society doing to help these families in trouble? Competency Training, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Dleinquency Prevention (OJJDP), examines one of the family programs that have been established. The program they examined was, Iowa s Strenghtening Families Program. Promotion Practices Tanglewood is built on hard work and honesty, One of Tanglewood s core values is to have an open floor when it comes to ideas within the organization. • 9. Compare And Contrast Freerk V. Ray Freeark LAWSUIT OVER THE ACCIDENT With the help of a lawyer named Ray Freeark, Jerry files a lawsuit on April 18, 1972, against the State of Illinois hoping to collect damages in the sum of $25,000. His case is built on the fact that because of the heavy rain over several days with the temperature dropping below freezing that night, the state of Illinois was negligent in permitting flood water to cover U.S. Route 50 where it crosses Silver Creek. Freeark argues that this area was dry and in good condition when Jerry went to the game and that, following the same route back, with little or no rain falling, he had no idea that Silver Creek was on the verge of flooding due to rain that had fallen on the previous two days. • 10. Gender Wage Gap Between Men And Women You see charts and graphs of different types, shapes and colors used by writers all the time. But have you ever thought of the reason for that or what role they have? Are they a critical piece in the article or do they just sum up information and gather numbers in one place? To engage these questions, I will consider the visual presentation of the gender wage gap between men and women by different journalists. By the time you finish reading this essay, you will learn many facts about the graphs, how they convey quantitative information, and how they differ from the language. Aside form the graph s positives you should be aware of their potential for manipulation and that they are not as reliable and unbiased as they might look. Writers always search for effective means to represent their ideas and convey information to the audience. They aim to be persuasive in their debates and draw a strong connection with the readers to affect them. To approach the gender wage gap issue, some writers use only the language. In the article Fighting The Gender Pay Gap, the author Carl Richard addresses the issue as a personal problem that he discussed with his daughter and his friends. He draws a direct connection with the readers who link that to their personal experiences. Also, Richard, through his words, is encouraging the audience to start taking actions to solve this problem that affects many other women like his daughter. • 11. The Driving Causes Of The Taranaki War Causes of the Taranaki conflict of the 1860s and beyond There were a number of driving causes of the Taranaki wars. The four most significant driving causes of the Taranaki wars include the Musket Wars, conflicting beliefs about sovereignty between the Maori and Pakeha, conflicting beliefs about land ownership between the Maori and Pakeha and the selling of the Pekapeka block. A significant cause of the Taranaki wars is the Musket Wars. Musket wars were inter tribal wars between different Maori tribes in the 1820s/18230s. They were one of the most lethal inter tribal wars in Maori history due to the introduction of Muskets by the British. Historically, Maori wars were fought in the Autumn after food had been stored for the winter. Hand to hand weapons such as mere and patu were used and wars were ritualised activities which caused few deaths. Maori had non violent ways of resolving disputes. These include tactics such as diplomacy, arranged marriages, gifts, asset stripping and escape to avoid war. The leader of the Ngapuhi tribe, Hongi Hika was seen as responsible for the Musket Wars. Hongi s uncle and two brothers were killed in a battle with Ngati Whatua, and Hongi felt obliged to avenge them. The musket wars were New Zealand wide, and the Northern rivals Ngapuhi and Ngati Whatu led the way, however the heaviest fighting took place between Ngati Toa and Ngai Tahu in the South Island. Ngai Puhu first used muskets in battle in 1807. In 1818, Ngapuhi began to use muskets in battle, wreaking havoc down the North Island. Hongi led his taua south, destroying 50 Maori villages along the east coast. 2000 people were enslaved for labour to produce profits to purchase Muskets. In 1821, Hongi acquired 300 muskets, escalating the fighting. He then attacked rivals in Auckland, capturing another 2000 slaves. Maori without muskets were forced to trade with the British for them in order to survive. Tribes threatened with attack had no choice but to buy their own guns and launch their own campaigns. The fighting reached a height in the 1820s. In 1822, Te Rauparaha led the Ngati Toa tribe down the North Island, attacking other tribes along the way. The cynicism of this remark reflects the aberrant attitude towards absurdism, yet there is truth to it. Theatre of the absurd is an esoteric avant garde style of theatre based on the principles of existentialism that looks at the world without any assumption of purpose. Existentialism and Theatre of the Absurd became identified with a cultural movement that flourished in Europe in the 1940s and 1950s, after the Second World War. The Caretaker follows no such structure, with a metaphysical approach that promotes a mystical and confusing mode. Pinter divorces and exposes society s codes, institutions and human relations. Throughout the play the audience is rarely comfortable. This disruption is established from the outset of the play when Mick, a character who at this stage of the play the audience knows nothing about, sits on the bed and stares at the audience in silence for 30 seconds . Mick s arrival on stage generates unease within the audience and the tension only increases as Pinter provides the audience with no explanation for his being there. Mick leaves the stage in a state of maintained silence; hence the first images presented in the play confront and challenge many of the assumptions of a traditional theatrical experience. Pinter does not adhere to the accepted use of dramatic conventions. There is no traditional relation of character histories within the opening scenes and lack of revelation is maintained throughout the play as relatively little is exposed about the character s backgrounds. This makes events within the room conditional phenomena, which are dependent on the individuals involved and what the audience is able to interpret. Like a history of evolution, a history of human symbolic representation is heavily dependent on the act of reproduction. This reproduction has manifested itself quite literally. For example, when a painter finds something in nature to be beautiful, she can reproduce it on the canvas and when a writer finds a moment to be inspiring, she can transcribe the moment into a set of instructions [i.e. words] about how [a reader] can imagine or construct [that moment] (Dreaming by the Book, Scarry, 6). Like sexual reproduction which allows organisms to share their genetic material in order to continue species and to create new organisms, pictures and words help with a lateral transfer of cultural information, its continuance and recombination. To create a symbol of something with a string of words or with an art material is to perpetuate that which is beautiful for future generations. According to Dennett, before there were words, there were no word meanings, even if there were other sorts of meanings. (402) Dennett s hypothesis reminds us, at the most basic level that symbols mean something. To say that there are only a couple of meanings behind all artwork and writing would be to deny the complexity of the human symbol making and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No matter how many obstacles come across Petits path, he fights through to make his dream a reality. • 15. The Olympic Games Of Ancient Greek Athletics Stephen G. Miller, an expert Yale professor in the field of Ancient Greek athletics states that the Olympics were held in honor of Zeus in the city of Olympia (Miller). The element of religion is evident in this historical event. Many people have heard of the concepts of the Greek Gods, but this level of religious involvement is interesting. These games were held for four days every fourth summer , a tradition that partially continues to this day (Miller). Many festivals in ancient Greece were dedicated to the Gods (Miller). In addition to the Olympic Games, there were also other athletic festivals which included the Pythian Games at Delphi, the Isthmian at Corinth, and the Nemean at Argos (Miller). However, the Olympics at Olympia were the oldest and most prestigious of the four great ancient Greek athletic festivals. The height of the Olympic Games occurs between the fifth and fourth centuries B.C. During this period, the games became more and more professionalized until they provoked much censure during the Roman period (Miller). This is somewhat similar to the present day games where the competitors are supposed to be amateurs, but many are professionals at their craft. Take for example the United States basketball squad. Being behind the scene and being involved in the creation of the film has always fascinated me. When I was a in 3rd grade I remember watching the Golden Girls. One Saturday morning, I turned to Lifetime, and there was an elderly lady who was so short and cute, I just could not turn the channel. The Deregulation Of Domestic Financial Sector Today, it is considered to be a common knowledge, that the deregulation of domestic financial sector and opening of capital account of the balance of payments played a major role in the recent economic crisis of 2007 08. Policies, that have been stated above can be put together and named as the liberalization of the capital account. Liberalization stands for lessening of government regulations and restrictions in the economy. It offers a certain sector of the economy an opportunity to compete internationally. However, there are a number of risks connected with liberalization, which will be discussed later in this paper. Thus, the question is as follows: is liberalization worth the risk, or a wise implementation of capital controls leads to potentially more positive outcomes for the global economy? Since late 1970 s and up until the Great Recession, the ultimate goal of many economies of the world was to move towards a fully opened capital account. The Maple Leaf Has A Symbol Of Canadian Pride Essay The Canadian flag was adopted by the Canadian Parliament October 22, 1964, and the official inauguration ceremony took place February 15, 1965. Ever since, the maple leaf has been a symbol of Canadian pride. The definition of colonization is a process by which a central system of power dominates the surrounding land and its components. Women are the highest percentage of this trend because women have been conditioned at young age to believe outer beauty is unsurpassed. Plastic or cosmetic surgery in the past has been kept hushed, never knowing did she have her nose worked on? Today plastic surgery is being embraced by the millions and highly looked upon. Recently a friend of mine had a breast augmentation. Her argument was the need to feel more confident in her own body. She felt out of proportion to the rest of her body. Young and old women today feel the need to look like Barbie, which undoubtedly comes from the need to replicate their favorite celebrities. Other causes for plastic or cosmetic surgery come from low self esteem issues, sexual satisfaction and the need to be accepted as beautiful. For Instance, in 2000 more than 6.3 million women went under the knife by surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, says the American Society of Plastic Surgeons statistics. The five most popular invasive surgical procedures for women in 2000 were liposuction, eyelid surgery, nose reshaping, breast augmentation and facelift (ASPS statistics). There were nearly 11.9 million surgical and non surgical cosmetic procedures performed in 2004, according to the most comprehensive survey to date of U.S. physicians and surgeons by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS Statistics). • 31. Multilayered Structured Sun 2. The sun being a multilayered structure has 3 main layers. There is the Chromosphere, the Photosphere and the Corona. The photosphere is mainly the thinnest layer of gas where Earth receives the sunlight from and convection occurs right under the photosphere. The motion of hot materials rising while the cooler materials sink and this causes granulation. Granulation also known as the mottled appearance is the dark regions and that is how the energy inside the sun is transferred out. 7. When looking at the sun you would imagine that the surface would be boiling. But since the surface of the sun is actually pretty cool it causes very few hydrogen atoms to have electrons in the excited states. With the hydrogen atom providing a limited amount of excited electrons it would cause us not to see it on the spectral line. But unlike the hydrogen being abundant, calcium isn t. Calcium has enough electrons to transfer from the ground state and make an appearance on the spectral lines because it isn t abundant. 9. We don t have evidence that sunspots are magnetic but we do know that the sunspots are caused by the magnetic activity amongst the sun. Also with the understanding of the Zeeman effect we can conclude how strong the magnetic fields are that cause the sunspots. In conclusion we see that sunspots are in fact apart of the magnetic field in the layers of the suns atmosphere. 10. To fully understand the sun cycle many scientists use the Babcock model. The Babcock model shows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These latest activities fall into the following main categories: communication technology, selling technology, activities related to adaptive and consultative selling, and team oriented activities. Many of the specific activities within these categories involve skills and content knowledge dissimilar from those traditionally observed in the past as key salesperson success factors. This study therefore investigates the salesperson professional selling (salesperson knowledge and adaptive selling) and the effect on buyer and salesperson relationship through customer loyalty, in the Malaysian retail sector. This is an important effort adopted by most researchers in order to furnish a finding pertinent to the general. To choose the sample for this study, probability random sampling was used. A probability sample is necessary if the sample is to be representative of the population (Reeves, 1992). Therefore, a two stage systematic sampling technique is employed in this study. 2.2 Population and sample size The unit of analysis for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Finding use in spacecrafts, pacemakers, underwater systems, electric automobiles, and remote monitoring systems (source 6), the atomic battery has existed for over a century and is growing to benefit our world. The atomic battery generates electricity from a nuclear reaction, utilizing the radioactive decay of specific elements. The atomic battery is certainly not meant for households or as a source of common battery use, but rather powerful equipment needing to run for long, extended periods. Atomic batteries are quite expensive, but can provide an immense amount of energy that will conduct over an extremely long life period. This paper will explain the basic functioning of an atomic battery, investigate a brief history of the atomic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now we will discuss a brief history of early atomic battery development. Henry G. J. Moseley, known for developing the Atomic Number and numerous other contributions to physics and chemistry, created the first known atomic battery in 1913 with his demonstration of the beta cell. He experimented with a radioactive isotope of the element radium, and the respective emissions of beta particles, to form the first atomic battery (source 5). This first crude battery saw minimal success and effectiveness, and it wasn t until 1954 when the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) began studying atomic batteries for the use of small radio receivers and hearing aids that atomic batteries became practical and more potential was realized (source 6). Moving forward to the 1980 s, inventor Paul Brown developed an atomic battery that was much more powerful than most thermal batteries out at the time. Brown used the emission of alpha and beta particles in radioactive materials to create an extremely powerful magnetic field. As discussed before, these alpha and beta particles contain kinetic energy to help collide atomic particles. The energy produced from this system was so rapid and immense that controlling the cell was extremely difficult. This proved to be a towering roadblock for most scientists to continue research for atomic batteries, until Brown was able to invent an approach to encompass the uncontrollable magnetic fields. • 39. Martin Luther Influence On Religion Religion in the 15th Century has evolved in many ways into the different religions we now practise today. Founder of the Lutheran Church, Martin Luther has played a vital role in the evolution. Martin Luther was a was an Augustinian monk who was later promoted to a professor of Biblical literature at Wittenberg University. Luther s religious vocation led him into a severe personal crisis: how, he wondered, is it possible to reconcile the demands of God s law with human inability to live up to the law? Luther s belief led him to his further accusation against the Catholic church in 1517. The church s current leader, Pope Leo X, offered indulgences to the society in order to raise money for the building of St. Peter s Basilica in Rome. Luther ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He changed Christianity due to his belief that had caused him a personal crisis: how is it possible to reconcile the demands of God s law with human inability to live up to the law? According to Britannica School (2016) he found his answer in the New Testament book of Romans: God had, in the obedience of Jesus, reconciled humanity to Himself. What was required of mankind, therefore, was not strict adherence to law or the fulfillment of religious obligations, but a response of faith that accepted what God had done. Such faith would lead to an obedience based on love, not fear. On October 31 in 1517, a list of 95 propositions were nailed to the door of the church in Wittenberg by Luther himself. One of the many points denied the right of the pope to forgive the people s sins by the purchase of indulgences. These proposals were then spread over Germany and in result caused a great controversy. The current Pope ordered that Luther appear before Cardinal Cajetan in Augsburg Here Luther was told by the cardinal to retract all that he had proposed, however, Luther refused to do such a thing unless his point could be proved wrong to him by the Bible. Therefore, it can be that Luther s belief and actions changed the Church as he had stopped the purchase of indulgences to forgive people s sins as he was against the ... Starring James Stewart, Grace Kelly and, Wendell Corey. The genre is thriller and the sub genre is suspense infused with mystery. Rear Window is one of Alfred Hitchcock s most inspired audience participation films. When a person watches it, he feels, tantalized, shocked, and exhilarated. Further in this essay, I will summarize the plots, discuss the styles used, and deconstruct parts of the film. Alfred Hitchcock, the director points it out to the audience as he concentrates on Jeff focusing on what s happening inside his neighborhood. He allows the audience to stay focused as we become voyeurs and see the various dramas that are being unfolded. Hitchcock has great technical brilliance with a great ability to portray a story in a very distinctive manner. He uses the technique of dramatic variation of size to achieve other desired emotions from the audience, by cutting from long shots to extreme close ups. The story line in the film revolves around voyeurism, guilt, friendship, and sexuality. Moreover, the editing techniques in the film are used to raise attention to the events that are unfolding in front of us. The shots in the movie are connected in a relatively subjective style. According to Hitchcock Cutting should not be thought of in terms of cutting but rather in terms more like assembly or Mosaic (Hitchcok, 1963, p.4). Montage, is the process or technique of selecting and piecing together separate sections of film to form a continuous whole. When two shots are juxtaposed in such a way it gives the third another meaning. This is one classic examples of Alfred Hitchcock s way of thinking. The use voyeurism in the film makes the audience conscious of why the protagonist is behaving in a certain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Historical Context Of The Laguna Pueblo Reservation The historical context of the Laguna Pueblo reservation deals with the Native American culture, as well as with the differing racial views of that time. The people of the Laguna Pueblo reservation had a respect for the land they lived on. Exhibiting the beliefs of most Native American tribes, they always hunted in certain places and knew the balance of the earth. When other people, the white people (page 172), started to overtake the land, they knew they would not be able to stop them from demolishing both the land and the animals that lived there. This shows the evolution of the Native American culture and life as other settlers with differing beliefs found the lands. The racial views of this time also played a role in the historical ...
