In today s society, social media has increased drastically and has become an essential part of many
individuals lives. Unfortunately, studies show that social media negatively impacts women s
perceptions about their own beauty and self worth; research shows that the media portrays beauty
as an unrealistic standard, and due to this, women are suffering from negative body images (Cash
Henry, 1995). From models and celebrities to magazines and billboards, unnatural beauty ideals are
emphasized to women everywhere. Although they are unrealistic, society has managed to push
them on women and make them feel like being natural is not acceptable. Part of the issue is that
media does not portray women of all types, shapes, colors, and forms as beautiful (Patton, 2006).
Furthermore, an inequality in the beauty standards between males and females must be addressed
in order to combat the harmful injustices caused by the unequal expectations of beauty of the sexes.

During Radical Reconstruction the government tried to distance African Americans from slavery
by providing new social opportunities. These included the Southern states ratification of the 14th
Amendment, increased education, and stabilising family units . In 1865 to 1866, before Radical

established black subordination to whites . Hence, their removal and the further attempts to

I used to not believed in mythical creatures, magic, or spirits, I never liked the movies or books

Campus crime has had an effect on people s lives for a long time. Records of criminal activity
on campuses go back as early as the 1850 s. Crimes on campus include acts of violence, drug

of the people involved and others around them. Criminal activity can be influenced by events

Head Start is a federally funded government agency, that provides low income youth with pre
school and health services (Barnett, 2007). However, the long term effects of Head Start are

Head Start has become one of the most controversial government agencies (Nathan, 2007).
Head Start was created in 1965, during Lyndon B. Johnson s presidential administration, as part of

The Problems of Obedience to Authority
People will do about anything to stay out of trouble when it comes to someone with authority that
cannot be argued with. Stanley Milgram did an experiment on the topic of obedience to authority;
he wanted to know how ordinary people could do horrible things if forced to by someone of
authority. Obedience to authority is instinctual for human beings, there has and will always be
someone with a higher authority than ourselves. How can normal, ordinary people that think of
themselves or are thought of as genuinely good people do things that they know is morally wrong
when told to do so by someone of authority? That is the question that Milgram asked himself when
he started his experiments.
The main point of the experiment was to test why people listen and act on what people of
authority tell them to do. Milgram took ordinary people and proved that most of the general
populace is willing to physically hurt another human being if provoked by someone in a position of
authority. This causes a person to question as Encina does, Why were those who challenged

Introduction The issue of whether or not violent video games encourage children, and teens to be
violent is a heavily debated issue. There are many people who believe that violent video games
DO cause violence in children, and teens, while there are also many people who believe that
violent video games DO NOT cause violence in children, and teens. The relevance of this topic
ties into psychology by further examining how people learn, and the techniques that are prevalent
in how they do so. By stating that violent behavior can arise simply from playing a violent video
game, one is relying on the notion that people will always act in a matter that is reflective of what
they are surrounded by.
Summary
Through significant research, there is evidence that violence has risen in America. Some argue
that this is because children and teens are spending more, and more time playing violent video
games. Though there is ample evidence to prove that playing violent video games can have
negative effects on someone, there is no evidence to directly show that the correlation between the
two rising numbers is related. In the reading, Steven F. Gruel, who argued before the supreme
court, believes that playing, and or watching violent video games, causes children to act violently.
