How Kitchenaid Is An American Home Appliance Brand Owned...
When you come home for the holidays, Mom is in the kitchen baking all the festive goodies. Chances
are she has her KitchenAid Mixer pulled out of the cupboard and is in the middle of dumping all the
delicious ingredients into it to create the perfect pie. KitchenAid is an American home appliance brand
owned by Whirlpool Corporation. The company was started in 1919 by The Hobart Corporation to
produce stand mixers. An entire kitchen of high performance appliances were created all with the
same attention to detail, quality craftsmanship, versatile technology and design. The KitchenAid
Mixer has turned into a timeless classic. It still remains the Cadillac, or BMW, of food preparation
appliances. The KitchenAid story begins when Herbert Johnson, he was an engineer at the Hobart
Corporation. Herbert observed a baker hard at work, mixing his bread by hand, and then he has the
idea and decided that there must be a better way. They introduced an 80 quart commercial baking
dough mixer in 1915 on which he had worked since 1908. He set out to develop an automatic mixer
and in 1914, Hobart released the 60 quart industrial H5. The H5 eventually made its way into every
ship kitchen in the US Navy. They then introduced a 65 pound domestic version in 1919, named the
Model H the KitchenAid when a housewife tester commented, I don t care what you call it, but I know
it s the best kitchen aid I have ever had. It was sold door to door for $189 and was on the market until
1927. In the

Image Processing Essay
4.1 INTRODUCTION
In image processing, noise reduction and restoration of image is expected to enhance the qualitative
inspection of an image and the performance criteria of quantitative image analysis methods Digital
image is inclined to a variety of noise which attribute the quality of image. The main purpose of de
noising the image is to reinstate the detail of original image as much as possible. The criteria of the
noise removal problem depends on the noise type by which the image is contaminated .In the field of
reducing the image noise variously type of linear and non linear filtering techniques have been
proposed . Different approaches for reduction of noise and image betterment have been considered,
each of which has their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4.2 DISCRETE COSINE TRANSFORM
DCT expresses a finite sequence of data points in terms of the sum of a cosine function oscillating at
different frequencies. DCT is Fourier related Transform similar to DFT, but using only real numbers.
It is used for image comparison in frequency domain. DCT is more robust to various image processing
technique like filtering, bluing brightness and contrast adjustment etc. although these are decrepit to
geometric attacks like rotation, scaling, cropping etc. it is used in JPEG compression.
DCTs are generally related to Fourier series coefficients of a periodically and symmetrically extended
sequence. In DCT an image can be broken down into three different frequency bands High frequency
components block (FH), Middle frequency components block (FM) and Low frequency components
block (FL). First of all image is segmented into non overlapping blocks of 8x8. Then every of those
blocks ahead DCT is implemented. After that some block selection criteria is applied and then
coefficient selection criteria is applied. y(j,k)=√(2/M) √(2/N) α_j α_k ∑_(x=0)^(M 1)▒∑_(y=0)^(N

If internal inspection reveals corrosion, it may have to be cleaned by tumbling. The tumbling process
involves filling the cylinder approximately half full of an abrasive material such as carbide chips, or
aluminum oxide chips, and rotating it for a number of hours.

There are two types of pressure gauges for determining the amount of air in a scuba cylinder. A
surface cylinder pressure gauge is used to check the amount of air in the cylinder above water. It
attaches to the cylinder valve in the same manner as a regulator to provide a one time check of
cylinder pressure. A bleed valve relieves trapped pressure so the gauge can be removed when the
cylinder valve has been closed.
Dive Computers may allow longer dive times because they compensate for time spent at varying
depths throughout a dive compared to the square dive profiles required for the use of most tables.
A compressor operates on the principle of Boyle s Law reducing the volume increases the pressure.
The air is compressed in stages.

time required for two successive crests to pass a given point.
Plunging Breakers release their energy quickly. The type of surf forms from large swells over a

Antagonistic Coevolution Between Bacterial And Phage...
Antagonistic Coevolution Between Bacterial and Phage Populations
PCB 4674
Fall 2016
Abstract
Often termed an evolutionary arms race, the enduring battle between bacterial and phage defenses
against one another has shed insight into the mechanisms behind coevolution, and how these
adaptations have led to diversification and speciation within both populations. Research into the
relationship has yielded evidence that antagonistic coevolution can be advantageous for both phage
and bacteria, often resulting in adaptations that would not have evolved by mutation through natural
selection alone.
This review provides background information on the relationship between bacteria and their phage,
elucidating some of the mechanisms behind antagonistic coevolution and the resulting adaptations
therein, and discusses the controversial use of phage therapy as treatment for some strains of antibiotic
resistant bacteria. Data extracted from a study utilizing a species of marine bacteria and phage is
provided as an example of a few basic adaptations behind coevolution and how they can lead to
diversification in both host and parasitoid defenses, and subsequently, their populations.
Introduction Bacteriophage, or simply phage, are obligate intracellular viruses that invade bacterial
cells and take over the cellular machinery to replicate their viral genome and create new viral progeny
via lysis of the bacterial host cell (Buckling and Rainey 2002). Phage have been identified as the

Investigator Moffel Case
On October 18th, 2016 at approximately 7:43 PM, I, Investigator James Poffel was that a shooting just
occurred and that a young, white male had been shot in the head and was being transported by
Muskogee County EMS workers to Eastar Medical Center Emergency Room for treatment. There
were two different locations that patrol officers responded to, Ace s Convenience Store at 550 N. Main
St., where the victim was located, and 2500 N. Main St. where the shooting occurred. I first responded
to 550 N. Main St. to make contact with Investigator Don Johnson, who was the on call investigator.
After speaking with Investigator Johnson and getting a basic understanding of what we knew so far. I
went to Eastar Medical Center to see if I could speak with the victim, Aron Grootenboer. When I first
arrived at the Eastar Medical Center, I made contact with the nurses in the Emergency Room. They
informed me Aron was back getting a CT scan of his head and when he returns I would be able to
speak with him. They informed me he is conscious and speaking coherently. When he returns, they

Gross Domestic Production (GDP)
Gross domestic product (GDP) is the total output of absolute commodities and services that a nation
puts out including exports but not including imports. Gross domestic product is used to measure the
health of a national and global economy. When gross domestic product is increasing, particularly if
inflation is not an issue, employees and industries are usually better off than when it is not. GDP
signifies the economic growth and production, symbolizing the whole dollar value of all goods and
services produced over a precise time period. It sums up the output created within the margins of a
country. GDP is made up of goods and services produced for sale in the market. The GDP is the sum
of domestic consumption; new capital investments; government spending, and the difference between
the values of goods imported into the United States and the value of exports to other countries.
Gross domestic product can be measured in two ways using income approach or expenditure method.
When using the income approach, GDP (I), you add up what everyone made in one year, which would
include rent, wages, interest and profits earned, by the selling of the merchandises in the nations
market. The income approach is determined by accumulating the total payment to workers, gross
profits for incorporated and non incorporated companies, and taxes without aids. This method is the
most complicated because measuring income is much more complex than measuring spending.
Whereas, when using the

William Cullen Bryant Analysis
William Cullen Bryant was a man wise beyond his years. It is said that Bryant was seen in the eyes of
many as a star so to speak. Some even referred to the writer as a child prodigy. Honestly, while first
reading Bryant, we thought to ourselves that his work should not be written as verses on paper. Rather,
they should be displayed on a wall with vivid colors for the world to see. As one sits down to read
Bryant, I m sure they were in as much surprise as we were. His descriptions so vivid, his
personification so lifelike, we fell in love. Bryant did not just explore nature; he embodied it. As one
would notice, he often pulled a bunch of themes, such as romantic themes, from nature. If you need an
example, we suggest glancing over Thanatopsis. Communion with her visible forms, she speaks.
Personally, we feel that Bryant fits right in there with other astonishing writers that we have studied.
He has a very open mind, and did not have any discomfort sharing his thought/feelings on beautiful
things as we ve mentioned; (nature) along with deeper, more personal topics. (Death.) Is it truly in the
hands of nature to heal? Do we really never die alone? Correct us if we re wrong here, but weren t
these thoughts along the same lines of Dickinson and Emerson? If this is ... Show more content on

As a writer, Bryant adds a ton of personification to his work; as he often personifies nature.
Personification, in our minds, is out of the box thinking. Therefore, we feel that in a sense, he would
be the perfect platform for this. He is a different or unique writer; and in 2015, almost 16, we see
different every single day. The idea of different is in no way, shape, or form strange. We feel that
people who are different implement the biggest lessons in life. That being said, if they were to bring

This comparative essay will thoroughly examine two extremely interesting conceptual sculptures.
Gemma Smiths Radiant and Ron Robertson Swanns Vault will serve as focus and stimulus for the
description, analysis, interpretation and evaluation.
Radiant confronts the viewer with the polished geometrical finish in which plays with the human eye.
Her Boulder sculptures are exquisite, constructed from panels of coloured translucent acrylic, they
allow the light to travel through them and create refracted optical illusions. Viewed from various
angles, they create different colours as sides visually overlap. She combines angles, lines and shape all
in an asymmetrical way. Whilst an impressive sculpture Robertson Swann displays angular
assemblage of bright yellow painted steel. Tone is used through the shadows ... Show more content on

The major theme of Smiths work in my opinion was to bring an insignificant boring plain like boulder
that is not normally seen as pretty and making it something special and beautiful through the use of
transparency and multiple colours. We should see people from different angles before judging and this
is conveyed by looking through the acrylics and seeing different colours and angles. In comparison to
Radiant, the artists intended meaning and reasoning behind creating this artwork is completely
different. This 3 dimensional form is more about dynamic movement with the overall intention of
breaking up the formal character of the Melbourne city it was located in. It does this with the use of
bright yellow dominating colour and the dynamic movement created by the different angles. The
people of the city wanted a piece of art that was bold, simple and to be the focal point of where it was
located. Vault has weathered much controversy throughout its existence as its form was said to be
unsympathetic to the location and the cost of $70,000 was also felt to be

On The Leveling Of The World Is Flat By Thomas Friedman
THE FLATTENING OF THE WORLD Technological advancements are held accountable for
contributing to the flattening of the world. Thomas L. Friedman, a journalist and the author of The
World Is Flat, used the word flat to convey the leveling of the economic and social playing fields.
Friedman declared that the initial factor that flattened the world was when the walls came down, and
the windows went up. The wall that Friedman was referencing in his statement was the Berlin Wall.
Once the Berlin Wall came down, government control over the economy became very limited. The
windows that Friedman was referring to were Microsoft Windows. Months after the fall of the Berlin
wall, Microsoft presented Windows to the world. Although Windows was a huge

Describe Your Happy Place
Where is your happy place? I grew up on the mid north coast of NSW in a small town called Valla
Beach which was nestled between the bush and the beach. Because it was such a small town in which
most people knew each other, I was granted relative freedom to roam the native environment and
explore. I have very fond memories of riding my scooter up and down the streets with my friends and
neighbours, cantering through the bush in front of my house, making up stories about my life if I had
lived there and spending all day on the beach, crisping in the sun. Being inside seemed like such a dull
affair when you could be immersed in a different world, a natural world. I feel as if these early life
experiences led me to always have a special connection with the natural environment as it was the one
true place that I could seek comfort and clarity my happy place.
Across the road from my house was extensive bushland that stretched a few kilometres until it was cut
off by the highway. In many ways, it was my childhood playground. There was a small dam in the
bushland that I often took my dog to play fetch and cool off. There was a bush track that winded up
and down hills and ended in a small little clearing and there was also dirt bike tracks that a local boy
had made from scrap materials. When I was 12, a housing development crew came to town and begun
marking out the land to demolish to build new estates and within weeks they were underway. They
began draining the dam to make way

Because of the mass carbon monoxide poisoning that took place, US health officials want to raise

the United States, we have witnessed new policies that have created indoor carbon monoxide

The Use Of Herbs And Plants In Elizabethan England
Introduction
In Elizabethan England, herbs and plants were used and as highly regarded in everyday life. Although,
in modern times the notion of potions, and poisons made from plants are fantastical, In Shakespeare s

Over the years I ve seen many changes in real estate investing. Currently, I m seeing a subtle but oh so
ever present transition in real estate investing. It involves a shift in the way folks think about their real
estate investment, a movement towards being more dispassionate, a movement away from qualitative
and being more focused on the quantitative. Folks historically look at property differently than they do
other investments. They look at their rental properties with the same viewpoint that they look at their
home, with some pride of possession.
You would not look on your technology stock with pride of possession, unless maybe it was Apple
stock and you used to be a Macophile. But with real estate, there has a tendency to not only take pride
in your properties, but to extend the stock analogy a buy and hold mind set.
What I am both seeing and recommending is a shift away from that. For one thing, if you go into RE
investing with that disposition, it will break your heart. You can not think about investment property

how I should portray it. Luckily for me, there are many different cultures that have the context of
Lilith, even if they do not call her that. They all describe her as a winged demon whom comes around
at night to seduce men (in order for her to produce demonic children) and to strangle babies. Another
thing that I did which ended up really playing out was researching the many different forms of
Midrash and how they worked. The outcome of my research provided me with many different types,
and how you were meant to characterize each one. I was honestly surprised at how much went into
determining how a midrash should be laid out, whether it be legal, or non legal reasoning s. I also
found it interesting to how sources determined Eve as Adams actual first wife with having no
information about Lilith being the actual first wife, regardless of how that relationship ended up. I
would be interested in taking a class about the women of the bible and having them include the
midrash of Lilith to understanding the full force and being taught of her, rather than reading things that

Introduction
The poliomyelitis word is derived from the Greek. It is the effect of poliomyelitis virus on the spinal
cord which leads to paralysis. This virus enters from the person mouth and multiplication occurs in the
area of pharynx and GI tract. Before the onset of illness, this virus present in the throat and the stool.
After the onset it will be less in throat but continuous to excreted more in the stool. By attacking
lymphatic tissue this virus enters to the blood stream and infects the cells of the nervous system. The
severity of disease depends on the site of destruction. Respiratory or brainstem involvement causes
highest morbidity and mortality (Ellen, Banks Skein, 2014).
This purpose of this paper is to discuss about the emergence and eradication. Emergence of the polio
includes the sign and symptoms, causes, spread of the disease, deaths due to the diseases, and
countries affected by this disease. Eradication includes the treatment of the disease, WHO guidelines,

Conflict is inevitable when rules have been dismissed or violated, or when something valuable has

In Greek, Helen was Menelaus wife until Paris took her back to Troy. Because she was not fairly
obtained as a prize through battle, Paris is that man [who] robbed / of [Menelaus ] sumptuous, warm
wife (Iliad, III, 61 62). A wife is usually seen as a prized treasure to Greek and Trojan men alike, so
when Helen was stolen, it was an insult to Menelaus pride. Had he done nothing about it, then the
Greeks would be cowards for not fighting to claim back what was rightfully theirs, and letting anyone
step over them and casually taking things from them. A war on pride was fought between Achilles and
Agamemnon when Agamemnon took Briseis in all her beauty, [Achilles ] own prize / so [he] can learn
just how much greater [Agamemnon is] than [him] (Iliad, I, 218 219). Agamemnon felt that his time

same humiliation to restore his own glory and to assert his position as king.
The attitudes that was brought into war is different between the Hebrews and Greeks, where Hebrews

Symbolism In Everything I Never Told You
Everything I Never Told You Analysis In the bible Ezekiel 36:25 states Then will I sprinkle clean
water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse
you (King James Bible 1). Hence, in biblical terms water is the purification of ones soul of all sins.
Consequently, water is the ultimate redemption for one s soul and body. In Everything I Never Told
You, Celeste Ng creates the theme of redemption from one s past sins represented by characters
through the symbolism of water. To begin with, in the novel the setting of the town in Ohio is deeply
impacted by the central theme. The setting plays an important role in revealing the element of water in

of adultery even being in the 10 commandments that state You shall not commit adultery (Exodus 20).
The fact that James affair with Louisa doesn t start until after Lydia s death shows how Lydia s
redemption had failed. Most importantly though, is that these deadly sins begun even before Lydia
was born the moment when James met Marilyn. The first time they met lust had overcome both of
them and they kissed without even knowing each other. This led to Marilyn without being married yet
getting pregnant within month of meeting James, and having Nath. In the bible Hebrews 13:4 says,
Marriage should be honored by everyone, and husband and wife should keep their marriage pure. God
will judge as guilty those who take part in sexual sins. This means that because Marilyn was pregnant
at the time she married James, both were sinners in God s words, because they had already had sex .
Even though, Nath, born out of a unholy bond between his parents was not scrutinized by the sin
because the bible states that sex before marriage is a sin but a child born out of premarital pregnancy
is not held responsible for any of his parents

frantically hyperventilated. Soon after he felt lightheaded and ill from the overconsumption of air, he
slowed down and recollected his thoughts. Before he had left Wilhelm, he had elicitly demanded that
if Bird Man sighted or observed the woman who was tirelessly chasing him that he should not hesitate
to use his powers in his defense. He also added in that if he saw another worm who looked similar to
him, he should ignore it. Bird Man inquired about his latter comment, though Wilhelm simply
dismissed him after threatening to destroy him if he disobeyed. Not that a worm really has the
potential to do much more than eat and slam it s face around.

Pah! Why you even listen to him is beyond me. Come hither, and tell to me what he commanded you.
Bird Man internally shouted at himself to not obey this new worm, even as he lifted himself off the
ground and approached the balcony once again. The scratches on the cobblestones indicated that he
was standing in the same place as earlier. He took a deep breath and reluctantly explained his journey
up to the point where he unwillingly enrolled in a necromancer camp, leaving out a fairly high
quantity of... sensitive details (including the part where he was attacked by a tadpole with a human
face and when he witnessed a worm break through the ceiling to devour a princess). Silence lingered
long between the two for an insurmountable period until the worm belched, rumbling the ground
similarly to a minor earthquake. Then, the worm laughed with a certain type of maniacal hysteria one
might only expect from a psychopath. You re joking, right? That s so storybook! I can t even fathom
how you would even make that up! Bird Man crossed his arms as the worm bellowed out its demonic
chuckle. But Alas, I did not ask for your story I asked what Wilhelm commanded you. If you would
instead shift your focus to THAT..? Bird Man sighed and paraphrased Wilhelm s speech, explaining
how he was to eliminate Basil to take his spot as the rightful ruler of the world. The worm again
laughed as they spouted out He is trying to use you as a pawn to recollect his power! That is the single

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Virtualization
Virtualization
What is virtualization?
It is the creation of a virtual version of something. Which includes:
Computer hardware platforms
Operating systems
Storage devices
Computer network resources
It is the creation of a virtual version of a device or resource. It gives a virtual view computing
resources. Its allows you to turn one server into several hosts.
Brief History of Virtualization
When you think about the term Virtualization, the company VMWare most likely will come to mind.
In fact, you may not realise that it actually started back in the early 1960 s. it was pioneered by
companies like General Electric, Bell labs, and International Business Machines (IBM).

It involves embedding virtual machine software into the component of a server. It s most commonly
known as hypervisor and virtual monitor are the most common.
It is a rapidly growing technology that is getting popular in server platforms. The simple idea is
putting several small physical servers into one large physical server so the processor can run
effectively.
The hypervisor controls the processor, memory and other components. The hypervisor allows several
different operating systems to run at once on the same machine. The OS running will appear to have
its own processor, memory and other components.
Desktop Virtualization This often is called client virtualization. It is considered a type of client server

##timum Imperatures Affect The Activity Of Amylase
Abstract:
This experiment s objective was to determine the optimal temperature for amylase from two different
sources and to analyze how different temperatures affect the activity of the enzyme amylase. The
chosen fungal amylase was Aspergillus oryzae and chosen bacteria was Bacillus licheniformis to be
analyzed.
Six groups performed the experiment with each member assigned a different temperature. Four test
tubes of bacteria, fungal, and starch were obtained and each label and assigned with different
temperatures of 0°, 20°, 60°, and 85° Celsius. All test tubes were timed correctly and recorded
immediately to prevent and minimize any possible inaccuracies. Each solution was taken out of the
temperature it was in after two minutes and then mixed with iodine to distinguish the color that forms.
Once the first wells were filled, the starch solutions were mixed with the amylase to be able to monitor
the starch solution and the rate at which the enzyme would break it down.
After analyzing the data, the evidence showed that the optimal temperature for fungal, Aspergillus
oryzae, was around 65° Celsius because the iodine solution s color was lightest (green) in that
temperature. The bacteria, Bacillus licheniformis, optimal temperature was between 65 and 85°
Celsius because it was at its lightest color (yellow) when mixed with the iodine solution.
Introduction:
This experiment was designed to show how different temperatures affect the activity of the enzyme
amylase and to

Analysis Of The Film Whale Riders
In the Film Whale Riders, the director Niki Caro, does an excellent job in developing critical themes
combining spiritual and religious traditions resonating with the audience. The compelling themes
demonstrated in the movie such as leadership, change of role in women, connection to nature,
traditions and change are all eloquently presented as the plot unfolds. As a young woman myself, I can
feel empathy towards the main protagonist, Pai, as she puts maximum effort in convincing her
grandfather Koro, that she can be the families next whale rider.
As the movie begins, the tone of Pai s monologue where she describes how her family awaits the birth
of the first born boy who would become chief, moderately sets the the mood for the rest of the film.
Pai, states that there was no gladness was she was born; this is because both her mother and brother [
who was suppose to be the next leader] died. The theme of leadership is presented as Koro searches
for a new Maori leader. As Pai s dad, Porourangi, denies leadership due to the death of his wife, Koro
searches for leadership elsewhere; overlooking Pai s ability to do so because of her sex. Pai displays
leadership in wanting to aid her community in being the next whale rider by attempting to attend her
grandfather schooling and learning Mau raku (stick fighting) from her uncle whom she privately
learns from.
As Pai s conquest to become leader progress, she unravels the theme of role changing. An interesting
factor that I noticed

The Love Scene between George and Maire from Translations...
The Love Scene between George and Maire from Translations
This scene, in my opinion is the dramatic centre of Translations. The scene displays that George and
Maire have fallen in love as they return from the dance together; the pair find it hard to communicate,
and exhaust every method of communication before reciting place names to one another. The common
language of the place names increases the tension between George and Maire until, finally, they kiss.
The kiss is witnessed by Sarah who uses her new found talent of speech to tell
Manus. The scene, in my view is very important as it is the catalyst for the disastrous events which
follow, it leads to the disappearance of George, the search of Baile Baeg by new English ... Show

The scene subsequent to the love scene (Act 3 Scene 1) has a different premise and feeling than the
fairytale love scene; it is bleak and rushed as the audience are told that George is missing, and
Manus is packing up to leave implying some guilt and is evidently traumatized. Manus goes to the
extent of ignoring Sarah, which as she represents Ireland, makes a big impact; he is giving up. The
scene has a black mood, which contrasts with the hope the lovers shared in the previous scene.
The scene has significance as it gives a romantic side to the play whilst still representing the recurrent
themes. The use of place names as communication gives a magical, mythical bond between George
and
Maire, which draws the lovers together. Firstly, they gesture to one another, the most primitive form of
communication; an example of this:
(Indicating himself) George .
George is telling Maire his name, which is his identity and what describes him as a person. As the pair
recite their names to one another, it is as if they are allowing one another into their hearts, as a gesture
of love.
The pair also try to communicate in Latin, common words of one another s language and using the
elements, which increase the audience s suspense as the lovers desperately, try to get their meanings
across. George s constant sorry sorry? and Oh my God shows the desperation with which he tries

Famous Greek Myths
THE TALE OF FELIX THE DARING
____________________
A commonly told greek myth about a man whose life was filled with fabled wonders.
In the time of a heroic era when powerful Greek gods ruled the world, there lived a young man whose
life was a matter of both ridicule and raillery of the neighborhood the village of Periera. On the day he
was born, his parents were so poor that they had no other choice but to auction him away into the
dwelling homes of the foundlings; to further sustain their own lives. Before leaving the child
completely behind, they gave him a special name Felix to ensure his prosperous future. However, that
seemed to play a trick on the poor infant as, on the contrary, bad luck followed him everywhere. When

But Fortunata told me about three challenges... Felix wondered.
Then, be aware on your way home, She advised before disappearing into the sunlight.
Felix praised for Saga and left back for Periera dreaming of the new life ahead.
On the way back home, to the village of Periera, he seemed to have grown wings elated by the seen
perspectives of happiness spreading around by villager to a villager. Then, just a few miles away from
Periera, Felix noticed a shabby, decrepit household. In the middle of the ruined house, there sat an old
man wearing scruffy clothes and holding a piece of stale bread.
Felix approached the man and asked, Can I help you?
I appreciate your kindness, child, but there s no cure for my misery, the man glanced at him
sorrowfully.
Felix contemplated for a while. Then, he put his talisman into the man s hand. You have no home or

Executive Pay Matters
Executive Pay Matters UK
Risky Remuneration
2017 will mean renewal of executive remuneration policy for most listed companies. Whilst that may
seem like a considerable time away, in order to have draft proposals ready for shareholder consultation
in October (or earlier if you want to avoid the rush for investor attention), turning your mind to your
policy review once this year s DRR is published may make a whole lot of sense.
But how do you know where to start? An increasing number of client companies are undertaking a risk
assessment of their executive remuneration programmes on the basis that it will form the initial step in
the overall remuneration policy review in 2016.
A holistic assessment of risk in your policy can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Aristotle Happiness
Aristotle is a well known philosopher whose views on virtue differ from other philosophers and whose
thinking about happiness involves human flourishing and well being. Aristotle wants Aristotle does
believe that there is a higher good of human action: this is happiness (Lear, 1988, p. 160 61).
Happiness comes in many different ways and is different for every person. The way that a person
defines happiness is where it gets complicated because sometimes a person defines happiness in a way
that is not thought of as a good thing. Pursuing genuine happiness and a virtuous like, to Aristotle, are
essentially the same things. If you want to pursue one, you must want to pursue the other as well
because without the both of them there will not be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eudaimonia translates to happiness. Many believe that eudaimonia is the best happiness that someone
should strive for. According to eudaimonist virtue ethics, the good life is the eudaimon life, and the
virtues are what enable a human being to be eudaimon because the virtues just are those character
traits that benefit their possessor in that way, barring bad luck (Hursthouse Pettigrove, 2003). Aristotle
believes that this virtue is the best to achieve because it is what helps to guide you in the right path to
true happiness. Being able to achieve that happiness for you and to be able to show others the way to

Youtube Symphony Orchestra
Today, classical music by many can be seen as a dying genre of music. Not often do people attend
concerts to be moved emotionally, for entertainment, or as a means of socializing. Though groups such
as 2Cellos, Piano Guys, and the YouTube Symphony Orchestra have recently driven people back to
concert halls and have them watching classical performances online. The YouTube Symphony
Orchestra has made a significant movement to this genre of music by live streaming their
performances (one in 2009 and the other in 2011).
YouTube Symphony Orchestra s performance in 2011 had people hustling to the Sydney Opera House,
and was live streamed around the world for viewers at home. The orchestra performed various pieces
of music from modern to classical. Though their final piece, The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky, brought
the performance together and captivated the audience. The Firebird is a ballet, which was inspired
from Russian folklore of a magical bird that is both a blessing and curse to its master . Stravinsky

The first song played from the Orchestra was Infernal Dance. The whole orchestra plays a loud chord
to show the intensity of the piece. The rhythm of this movement is syncopation due to the rhythm not
being on the beat. This makes the strong beat weak, thus giving a chilling ambience. Infernal Dance
then transitions to the soothing movement Berceuse. Berceuse is a lullaby played by the bassoon. The
Orchestra concludes the concert with Finale. Finale is the finishing piece of The Firebird and uses one
french horn for the melody in a dynamic of piano. The whole orchestra soon joins in creating a hymn
like choral. Instead of ending with a grand note, the brass takes the melody at a faster pace developing
a celebratory ending. With its uneven rhythmic and extravagant arrangement this Suite fashions a

Spaying And Neuter Pets Essay
the Arms of an Angel and there are dogs and cats sitting behind a closed kennel door looking at the
camera with sad eyes. This breaks my heart every time I see this commercial or hear the song playing
on the radio. There are many millions of animals that are unloved, neglected and abandoned in shelters
each year because people do not participate in getting their animals spayed or neutered or the animals
are over bred for profit.
Animal overcrowding in shelters is only one reason of many as to why pet owners should spay or
neuter their pets, but it is the most important reason of all. Shelters all over the United States are past
the overcrowded level and even dog rescue groups are finding it harder and harder everyday to find
homes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you think about all these situations, the amount of animals in a shelter can rapidly increase
every day, and this is very sad that we have done this to our furry friends .
Spaying and neutering your animal can not only help with the overcrowding in shelters but can
actually be beneficial to your home and pets. Male dogs and cats when un neutered have a tendency to
mark their property. When they mark their territory it can lead to a very unpleasant smell in and
around your home. Have you ever walked a dog and noticed them peeing frequently on fire hydrants,
trees, corners or certain sections in the yard? This would be your male animal stating that he is a male.
When you neuter your male animal, this behavior decreases and thus you can have a cleaner smelling
house. Also, it is a recognizes concept amongst pet owners that getting your animal fixed can help
with behavioral issues such as aggression, dominance, and also sexual arousal around a female animal.
Female dogs and cats go into a heat cycle, similar to that of a female human. Their cycle causes them
to bleed for about two weeks and can make quite the mess if you are not planning for it. Also, spaying
can help with the females behavior as well; they mellow down and are less fussy. If you re a female
you know that when you re on your cycle you can be temperamental, it s the same for female dogs and
cats.
There is also health related issues that are more prominent in animals that aren t

  • 2. How Kitchenaid Is An American Home Appliance Brand Owned... When you come home for the holidays, Mom is in the kitchen baking all the festive goodies. Chances are she has her KitchenAid Mixer pulled out of the cupboard and is in the middle of dumping all the delicious ingredients into it to create the perfect pie. KitchenAid is an American home appliance brand owned by Whirlpool Corporation. The company was started in 1919 by The Hobart Corporation to produce stand mixers. An entire kitchen of high performance appliances were created all with the same attention to detail, quality craftsmanship, versatile technology and design. The KitchenAid Mixer has turned into a timeless classic. It still remains the Cadillac, or BMW, of food preparation appliances. The KitchenAid story begins when Herbert Johnson, he was an engineer at the Hobart Corporation. Herbert observed a baker hard at work, mixing his bread by hand, and then he has the idea and decided that there must be a better way. They introduced an 80 quart commercial baking dough mixer in 1915 on which he had worked since 1908. He set out to develop an automatic mixer and in 1914, Hobart released the 60 quart industrial H5. The H5 eventually made its way into every ship kitchen in the US Navy. They then introduced a 65 pound domestic version in 1919, named the Model H the KitchenAid when a housewife tester commented, I don t care what you call it, but I know it s the best kitchen aid I have ever had. It was sold door to door for $189 and was on the market until 1927. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main purpose of de noising the image is to reinstate the detail of original image as much as possible. The criteria of the noise removal problem depends on the noise type by which the image is contaminated .In the field of reducing the image noise variously type of linear and non linear filtering techniques have been proposed . DCT is Fourier related Transform similar to DFT, but using only real numbers. It is used for image comparison in frequency domain. DCT is more robust to various image processing technique like filtering, bluing brightness and contrast adjustment etc. although these are decrepit to geometric attacks like rotation, scaling, cropping etc. it is used in JPEG compression. DCTs are generally related to Fourier series coefficients of a periodically and symmetrically extended sequence. In DCT an image can be broken down into three different frequency bands High frequency components block (FH), Middle frequency components block (FM) and Low frequency components block (FL). First of all image is segmented into non overlapping blocks of 8x8. Then every of those blocks ahead DCT is implemented. There are two types of pressure gauges for determining the amount of air in a scuba cylinder. A surface cylinder pressure gauge is used to check the amount of air in the cylinder above water. It attaches to the cylinder valve in the same manner as a regulator to provide a one time check of cylinder pressure. A bleed valve relieves trapped pressure so the gauge can be removed when the cylinder valve has been closed. Dive Computers may allow longer dive times because they compensate for time spent at varying depths throughout a dive compared to the square dive profiles required for the use of most tables. A compressor operates on the principle of Boyle s Law reducing the volume increases the pressure. The air is compressed in stages. The Diving Environment The wavelength is the horizontal distance between successive crests (or troughs), and the period is the time required for two successive crests to pass a given point. Plunging Breakers release their energy quickly. The type of surf forms from large swells over a moderately steep bottom. As the swell moves toward shore, the waves steepen quickly and break suddenly. These waves break with tremendous force, and they are the most hazardous type. Surf Passages

  • 6. Antagonistic Coevolution Between Bacterial And Phage... Antagonistic Coevolution Between Bacterial and Phage Populations PCB 4674 Fall 2016 Abstract Often termed an evolutionary arms race, the enduring battle between bacterial and phage defenses against one another has shed insight into the mechanisms behind coevolution, and how these adaptations have led to diversification and speciation within both populations. Research into the relationship has yielded evidence that antagonistic coevolution can be advantageous for both phage and bacteria, often resulting in adaptations that would not have evolved by mutation through natural selection alone. This review provides background information on the relationship between bacteria and their phage, elucidating some of the mechanisms behind antagonistic coevolution and the resulting adaptations therein, and discusses the controversial use of phage therapy as treatment for some strains of antibiotic resistant bacteria. Data extracted from a study utilizing a species of marine bacteria and phage is provided as an example of a few basic adaptations behind coevolution and how they can lead to diversification in both host and parasitoid defenses, and subsequently, their populations. Introduction Bacteriophage, or simply phage, are obligate intracellular viruses that invade bacterial cells and take over the cellular machinery to replicate their viral genome and create new viral progeny via lysis of the bacterial host cell (Buckling and Rainey 2002). Phage have been identified as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Gross Domestic Production (GDP) Gross domestic product (GDP) is the total output of absolute commodities and services that a nation puts out including exports but not including imports. Gross domestic product is used to measure the health of a national and global economy. When gross domestic product is increasing, particularly if inflation is not an issue, employees and industries are usually better off than when it is not. GDP signifies the economic growth and production, symbolizing the whole dollar value of all goods and services produced over a precise time period. It sums up the output created within the margins of a country. GDP is made up of goods and services produced for sale in the market. The GDP is the sum of domestic consumption; new capital investments; government spending, and the difference between the values of goods imported into the United States and the value of exports to other countries. Gross domestic product can be measured in two ways using income approach or expenditure method. When using the income approach, GDP (I), you add up what everyone made in one year, which would include rent, wages, interest and profits earned, by the selling of the merchandises in the nations market. The income approach is determined by accumulating the total payment to workers, gross profits for incorporated and non incorporated companies, and taxes without aids. • 9. William Cullen Bryant Analysis William Cullen Bryant was a man wise beyond his years. It is said that Bryant was seen in the eyes of many as a star so to speak. Some even referred to the writer as a child prodigy. Honestly, while first reading Bryant, we thought to ourselves that his work should not be written as verses on paper. Rather, they should be displayed on a wall with vivid colors for the world to see. As one sits down to read Bryant, I m sure they were in as much surprise as we were. His descriptions so vivid, his personification so lifelike, we fell in love. Bryant did not just explore nature; he embodied it. As one would notice, he often pulled a bunch of themes, such as romantic themes, from nature. If you need an example, we suggest glancing over Thanatopsis. Communion with her visible forms, she speaks. Personally, we feel that Bryant fits right in there with other astonishing writers that we have studied. He has a very open mind, and did not have any discomfort sharing his thought/feelings on beautiful things as we ve mentioned; (nature) along with deeper, more personal topics. (Death.) Is it truly in the hands of nature to heal? Do we really never die alone? Correct us if we re wrong here, but weren t these thoughts along the same lines of Dickinson and Emerson? If this is ... Her Boulder sculptures are exquisite, constructed from panels of coloured translucent acrylic, they allow the light to travel through them and create refracted optical illusions. The major theme of Smiths work in my opinion was to bring an insignificant boring plain like boulder that is not normally seen as pretty and making it something special and beautiful through the use of transparency and multiple colours. In comparison to Radiant, the artists intended meaning and reasoning behind creating this artwork is completely different. This 3 dimensional form is more about dynamic movement with the overall intention of breaking up the formal character of the Melbourne city it was located in. It does this with the use of bright yellow dominating colour and the dynamic movement created by the different angles. The people of the city wanted a piece of art that was bold, simple and to be the focal point of where it was located. • 12. Describe Your Happy Place Where is your happy place? I grew up on the mid north coast of NSW in a small town called Valla Beach which was nestled between the bush and the beach. Because it was such a small town in which most people knew each other, I was granted relative freedom to roam the native environment and explore. I have very fond memories of riding my scooter up and down the streets with my friends and neighbours, cantering through the bush in front of my house, making up stories about my life if I had lived there and spending all day on the beach, crisping in the sun. Being inside seemed like such a dull affair when you could be immersed in a different world, a natural world. I feel as if these early life experiences led me to always have a special connection with the natural environment as it was the one true place that I could seek comfort and clarity my happy place. Across the road from my house was extensive bushland that stretched a few kilometres until it was cut off by the highway. In many ways, it was my childhood playground. There was a small dam in the bushland that I often took my dog to play fetch and cool off. There was a bush track that winded up and down hills and ended in a small little clearing and there was also dirt bike tracks that a local boy had made from scrap materials. Currently, I m seeing a subtle but oh so ever present transition in real estate investing. It involves a shift in the way folks think about their real estate investment, a movement towards being more dispassionate, a movement away from qualitative and being more focused on the quantitative. Folks historically look at property differently than they do other investments. They look at their rental properties with the same viewpoint that they look at their home, with some pride of possession. You would not look on your technology stock with pride of possession, unless maybe it was Apple stock and you used to be a Macophile. But with real estate, there has a tendency to not only take pride in your properties, but to extend the stock analogy a buy and hold mind set. What I am both seeing and recommending is a shift away from that. For one thing, if you go into RE investing with that disposition, it will break your heart. A wife is usually seen as a prized treasure to Greek and Trojan men alike, so when Helen was stolen, it was an insult to Menelaus pride. Hence, in biblical terms water is the purification of ones soul of all sins. Consequently, water is the ultimate redemption for one s soul and body. In Everything I Never Told You, Celeste Ng creates the theme of redemption from one s past sins represented by characters through the symbolism of water. To begin with, in the novel the setting of the town in Ohio is deeply impacted by the central theme. The setting plays an important role in revealing the element of water in the novel as it placing it in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On Lydia s birthday, shortly before she disappears, she meets Louisa and identifies her as father s mistress even though at the times the affair had not begun yet. Lydia because determined that Louisa is sleeping with her father, which is yet another sin she has to carry the weight off. Additionally, the affair weights even more on her because of adultery even being in the 10 commandments that state You shall not commit adultery (Exodus 20). The fact that James affair with Louisa doesn t start until after Lydia s death shows how Lydia s redemption had failed. Most importantly though, is that these deadly sins begun even before Lydia was born the moment when James met Marilyn. The first time they met lust had overcome both of them and they kissed without even knowing each other. This led to Marilyn without being married yet getting pregnant within month of meeting James, and having Nath. In the bible Hebrews 13:4 says, Marriage should be honored by everyone, and husband and wife should keep their marriage pure. God will judge as guilty those who take part in sexual sins. This means that because Marilyn was pregnant at the time she married James, both were sinners in God s words, because they had already had sex . Even though, Nath, born out of a unholy bond between his parents was not scrutinized by the sin because the bible states that sex before marriage is a sin but a child born out of premarital pregnancy is not held responsible for any of his parents ... The chosen fungal amylase was Aspergillus oryzae and chosen bacteria was Bacillus licheniformis to be analyzed. Six groups performed the experiment with each member assigned a different temperature. Four test tubes of bacteria, fungal, and starch were obtained and each label and assigned with different temperatures of 0°, 20°, 60°, and 85° Celsius. All test tubes were timed correctly and recorded immediately to prevent and minimize any possible inaccuracies. Each solution was taken out of the temperature it was in after two minutes and then mixed with iodine to distinguish the color that forms. Once the first wells were filled, the starch solutions were mixed with the amylase to be able to monitor the starch solution and the rate at which the enzyme would break it down. After analyzing the data, the evidence showed that the optimal temperature for fungal, Aspergillus oryzae, was around 65° Celsius because the iodine solution s color was lightest (green) in that temperature. The bacteria, Bacillus licheniformis, optimal temperature was between 65 and 85° Celsius because it was at its lightest color (yellow) when mixed with the iodine solution. • 27. Analysis Of The Film Whale Riders In the Film Whale Riders, the director Niki Caro, does an excellent job in developing critical themes combining spiritual and religious traditions resonating with the audience. The compelling themes demonstrated in the movie such as leadership, change of role in women, connection to nature, traditions and change are all eloquently presented as the plot unfolds. As a young woman myself, I can feel empathy towards the main protagonist, Pai, as she puts maximum effort in convincing her grandfather Koro, that she can be the families next whale rider. As the movie begins, the tone of Pai s monologue where she describes how her family awaits the birth of the first born boy who would become chief, moderately sets the the mood for the rest of the film. Pai, states that there was no gladness was she was born; this is because both her mother and brother [ who was suppose to be the next leader] died. The theme of leadership is presented as Koro searches for a new Maori leader. As Pai s dad, Porourangi, denies leadership due to the death of his wife, Koro searches for leadership elsewhere; overlooking Pai s ability to do so because of her sex. Pai displays leadership in wanting to aid her community in being the next whale rider by attempting to attend her grandfather schooling and learning Mau raku (stick fighting) from her uncle whom she privately learns from. As Pai s conquest to become leader progress, she unravels the theme of role changing. An interesting factor that I noticed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The scene displays that George and Maire have fallen in love as they return from the dance together; the pair find it hard to communicate, and exhaust every method of communication before reciting place names to one another. The common language of the place names increases the tension between George and Maire until, finally, they kiss. The kiss is witnessed by Sarah who uses her new found talent of speech to tell Manus. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scene subsequent to the love scene (Act 3 Scene 1) has a different premise and feeling than the fairytale love scene; it is bleak and rushed as the audience are told that George is missing, and Manus is packing up to leave implying some guilt and is evidently traumatized. Manus goes to the extent of ignoring Sarah, which as she represents Ireland, makes a big impact; he is giving up. The scene has a black mood, which contrasts with the hope the lovers shared in the previous scene. The scene has significance as it gives a romantic side to the play whilst still representing the recurrent themes. The use of place names as communication gives a magical, mythical bond between George and Maire, which draws the lovers together. Firstly, they gesture to one another, the most primitive form of communication; an example of this: (Indicating himself) George . George is telling Maire his name, which is his identity and what describes him as a person. As the pair recite their names to one another, it is as if they are allowing one another into their hearts, as a gesture of love. This breaks my heart every time I see this commercial or hear the song playing on the radio. There are many millions of animals that are unloved, neglected and abandoned in shelters each year because people do not participate in getting their animals spayed or neutered or the animals are over bred for profit. When you think about all these situations, the amount of animals in a shelter can rapidly increase every day, and this is very sad that we have done this to our furry friends . Spaying and neutering your animal can not only help with the overcrowding in shelters but can actually be beneficial to your home and pets. Male dogs and cats when un neutered have a tendency to mark their property. When they mark their territory it can lead to a very unpleasant smell in and around your home. Have you ever walked a dog and noticed them peeing frequently on fire hydrants, trees, corners or certain sections in the yard? This would be your male animal stating that he is a male. When you neuter your male animal, this behavior decreases and thus you can have a cleaner smelling house. Also, it is a recognizes concept amongst pet owners that getting your animal fixed can help with behavioral issues such as aggression, dominance, and also sexual arousal around a female animal. Female dogs and cats go into a heat cycle, similar to that of a female human. Their cycle causes them to bleed for about two weeks and can make quite the mess if you are not planning for it. Also, spaying can help with the females behavior as well; they mellow down and are less fussy.
