Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
INTRODUCTION Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is characterised by pain in combination
with sensory, autonomic, trophic and motor abnormalities. There are two forms of CRPS and they are
referred to as CRPS type 1 and CRPS type 2. CRPS type 1 is also known as Reflex sympathetic
dystrophy syndrome (RSD). And type 2 is known as Causalgia.1 2 The cause of complex regional
pain syndrome is unknown and many causes of CRPS occurs after a forceful trauma to an arm or a
leg, such as crush injury, fracture, amputation, surgery, infections etc. Usually the distal limbs are
affected. Single limb in the early stages, lower limbs in the children and upper limbs in adults1 2 This
condition is first described by the Mitchell

Changes In Brazil
ver time, human development and distribution can be drastically changed and differed according to
human and environmental factors. This has very much been the case in Brazil. Over the course of
many years major cities like Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro have seen a significant increase in
population density, but the creation of Brasilia and government funding of northern cities such as
Manaus has also caused an evident shift in population distribution. This change has been created as a
result of increase in government funding in projects such as urbanization of northern cities, job
opportunities, harsh physical features and both internal and external migration. Northern cities such as
Belem and Porto Velho have seen a big increase in population ... Show more content on

Major cities in the south east have large populations of immigrants. In fact, Sao Paulo has a population
of around 12 million with 1 million of those being Japanese immigrants or of Japanese descents, the
most out of anyone else in the world. With more and more people coming into Sao Paulo and other
eastern cities like Rio, the population increased and continues increasing. Now with so many
immigrants in the south east, natives to Brazil are having to move west and north to find jobs and
spread the population out, causing this shift in density. Brasilia is one of those cities. Created in
attempt to spread out the population as a result of those growing numbers. Today 23 million people
live there demonstrating a major shift in population distribution. Brazil also has the second largest
number of German immigrants/descendents with a total of 12 million, most of which are found on the
eastern seaboard. Some have moved farther north into the state of Espirito Santo, but not far north
enough to see a significant shift from immigrants. Portuguese colonists settled in the north and west, a
lot of the immigrants move to those locations to stay with family/people of their region. Italians and
Lebanese have also followed them since they are more of a minority and seek employment elsewhere.
If more immigrants would follow than the distribution would have a drastic change, but for now that is
yet to come. The reason for such a large number of immigrants, especially of European heritage, is
that since Brazil was the last country to abolish slavery which was free work, they advertised a lot of
cheap work to do in Brazil. Those in need of the money and/or change followed and settled where the
most work was needed. Hence why there is such a large concentration of descendant and immigrants
in the south east region

Scientific Explanation Of Reaction Lab Answers
Discussion of Results and Scientific Explanations:
The goal of this laboratory was learn how to use the Spectrophotometer to analyze the phosphate
content in colas. This is important because the consumers believe that the buffering capacity of
phosphate within the colas will settle their upset stomachs. A spectrophotometer, or Spec 20, measures
how much a chemical substance absorbs and transmits. The next goal is to determine the relationship
between absorbance and transmittance. Transmittance is a measurement of the amount of light that
passes through a substance. So if the transmittance is 100 percent then the absorbance is zero. Also
another vital goal is to analyze the relationship between absorbance and the wavelength of the two
color ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Phosphate is not able to be absorbed alone so AVM, ammonium vanadomolybdate, is necessary to add
to give the solution a slight yellow color. This allows the solutions to be absorbed. Once this is
understood, you can start the experiment. Start by making a blank solution containing 6mL of water
and 3mL of AVM. Next, take .101M and use the equation M1V1=M2V2 to dilute the solution to
.0002M, this is shown in Calculation 8. Use this equation to make four dilutions of PO4 3 with AVM.
Samples of the four dilutions were run through the spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 360nm, and
percent transmittance for each was recorded. The four concentrations of PO4 3 are shown in Table 3.
Running the 4 diluted samples through the Spec 20 and finding the %T, between 18% and 85%,
allows you to determine the absorbance as well. Concentration and absorbance for PO4 3 is now able
to be compared which is shown in Figure 3. As concentration of the phosphate ion goes up, the
percent absorbance goes up, this is a direct relationship. This coincides with Beer s Law, A=abC, A
being the absorbance, C being the concentration, a being the absorptivity and b being the cell path
length.3 The higher concentration of a solution, the more light is absorbed. The slope of the
calibration curve is y=543949x 1.4302, y being the percent absorbance and x being the phosphate
content, this is shown in Figure

A Brief Note On Gore And Associates, An American...
W.L. Gore Associates is an American manufacturing company that specializes in making products
derived from polytetrafluoroethylene, or simply PTFE. The company is best known for its Gore Tex
fabric coating, which makes fabric waterproof and windproof, but yet breathable. The company
evolved from the late Wilbert L. Gore s experiences personally, organizationally, and technically. Mr.
Gore moved to E. I. du Pont de Nemours in 1945 where he was part of a team that worked on the
development of applications for PTFE. Wilber Gore, or Bill to his coworkers, became knowledgeable
in the development of computers and transistors. He believed that PTFE had the ideal insulating
characteristics that would make PTFE useful in such equipment. A breakthrough happened in the
basement in his house when Mr. Gore and his son Bob successfully created PTFE coated ribbon by
using PTFE sealant tape made by 3M. Because Du Pont wanted to remain a supplier of raw materials
and not a fabricator, Bill was unsuccessful in convincing Du Pont to make his PTFE coated ribbon
cable. On January 1, 1958, Bill and his wife Vieve founded W.L. Gore Associates in the basement of
their house. The company took off when the Gores secured an order for $100,000. W.L. Gore
continued to grow and manufacture products made from PTFE. Bill Gore died in 1986 while
backpacking in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming. Before he died, he had become chairman and
his son, Bob, president. Vieve was

Sigmund Freud s The Uncanny
In The Uncanny Sigmund Freud describes the uncanny, explaining it as that class of frightening which
leads back to what is old and long familiar (825) In order to adequately describe exactly how
something which is old and long familiar becomes frightening he uses the German word Heimlich ,
which essentially means homelike. In direct contrast with Heimlich, exists the word unheimlich,
which can be understood as something that is the opposite of homelike. Freud describes unheimlich as
something which should have remained secret but has come to light. While there are a great many
things that are able to make us feel this uncanny feeling, according to Freud they are all rooted in the
same place that of our repressed memories. Individual repressed ... Show more content on

The most chilling part of this film existed surely in the 1950s and today. Today it is the timelessness of
it that is uncanny, that eventually the pods got almost everyone. It didn t matter who you were or what
kind of person you are, this deeply repressed fear that we could all become mindless automatons
exists, and seeing it represented is deeply disturbing. The uncanny effect exists in several places in this
film; the uncanny feeling from seeing someone who looks exactly like you emerge from a pod, the
uncanny feeling of knowing something about someone you know is off but you just can t seem to put
your finger on it, and when the whole town is essentially comprised of pod people that seem so close
to the real thing it is nearly impossible to detect. This film has so many layers of uncanny, at points it
is almost difficult to put your finger on exactly what it is that is creating the feeling in the first place.
This film becomes a representation of our culturally repressed fears, the uncanny feeling from not
knowing whether something is a human or an automaton, and through the involvement of aliens

Maxine Hong Kingston s Woman Warrior
The book, Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston is a memoir about a girl named Kingston and
her past experiences and stories that involve myths and beliefs that her mother talks about throughout
her life. In Chapter 1, when her mother told Kingston about an aunt she never knew she had, Kingston
promised her mother that she must not tell anyone what her mother was about to tell her (Kingston 7).
Her mother tells her that Kingston s father had a sister who killed herself. She jumped into the family
well and they all live as if she has never been born since she was a disgrace to her family (Kingston
7). Kingston writes this memoir as a break through as she struggles to have a voice since she s been
silenced all her life. Chapter 3 talks about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It comes true. It comes true. I had to leave home in order to see the world logically, logic the new way
of seeing. I learned to think that mysteries are for explanation. I enjoy the simplicity. Concrete pours
out of my mouth the cover the forests with freeways and sidewalks. Give me plastics, periodical
tables, TV dinners with vegetables no more complex than peas mixed with diced carrots. Shine
floodlights into dark corners: no ghosts (Kingston 250).
In my perspective, I agree with Kingston because whatever you believe or say could always come true
if you truly believe it. I also agree with Kingston that there are many different ways to see things such
as your opinion on such things. Your opinion could be different than your friends opinion or your
family s opinion. Reading this book has shown me to see things in different ways and helped me
understand other people s point of views better. This book also shows that you should not be selfish
but to think about other people s situations and to be careful what you say because later in your life, it
ll come true. There are many times in life where you misinterpret one another because you hear the
wrong thing so someone gets hurt which is why it s important not to say what you don t mean because
someone could get their feelings hurt. Also because you could be saying something bad about
someone and want something to come true but you don t mean it. In conclusion, it s important not to

Science And Religion Research Paper
Today, it seems like science and religion are in a constant, bloody war with one another, similarly to
the on going war between the Palestinians and the Jews, but what are science and religion? Science is
the intellectual study of the structure and behavior of the world through observation and experiment.
Religion is the belief in a superior being or many superior beings. Although science and religion seem
like two diverse topics, the two methods of explanation are more alike than one would think, and both
of these things together complement each other to give us our modern technology and how we as a
society should use it. First, to explain how science and religion are similar, we have to look back in
time. Throughout our history and deep in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without the contribution our religion institution provided us, we could still be stuck in a dark time
with a lack of advances in technological. The catholic church was the first place to allowed the
common folk (peasants) the luxury of books and education. Before the Catholic Church opened the
opportunity of education and books to the masses, education and books were strictly for the wealthy.
With the education provided by the catholic church, the people started to question things in their
environment. They also started pursuing answers to their questions away from text. People held
experiments and would document it carefully. An example of a person who did document his findings
is Roger Bacon. It was the curiosity of the common folk and the opportunity the Catholic Church gave
the common folk that helped to re birth science in Europe. This action made by the catholic church
changed the course of history, which gave European empires an opportunity to compete among the
hegemonic powers at the time (the Abbasid Empire), and brought Europe out of the gloomy Medieval
Era and into the beautiful Renaissance Era. To this day, the Catholic Church remains one of the main
contributors to educating the youth of the world and as a result, has a huge emphasis on science and
technology. The second clue to how these three big topics are closely related is in the nature of
science. Science is our explanation of the world backed up with experimentation and hard fact. Us
taking the knowledge of the world and creating a new method or device to make life easier is how we

Vertigo Case Studies
This literature review will assess the value of magnetic resonance (MR) and computed tomography
(CT) in detecting pathologies associated with vertigo. The common two types of vertigo peripheral
and central vertigo are defined. Previous studies suggest that both MR and CT are good options for
detecting semicircular dehiscence syndrome related peripheral vertigo. Although the accuracy rates of
MR and CT are comparable in detecting acute intracranial hemorrhage, MR has an overall higher
diagnostic yield for stroke and multiple sclerosis related central vertigo. In clinical practice, hospitals
take cost into consideration when making patients care plan. Having every patient go through imaging
examination can be time consuming and expensive. Peripheral ... Show more content on

In their study, 217 of 356 patients had a final clinical diagnosis of acute stroke. 27 of these patients
were diagnosed with acute intracranial hemorrhage. MR detected this condition in 23 patients
compared with CT in 25 patients. 190 of the patients were diagnosed with acute ischemia. MR
correctly identified 164 patients compared with 35 in CT. Table 1 summarizes the statistics of these
data (Chalela et al., 2007). In comparison with the final clinical diagnosis, MRI had a higher
sensitivity of 83% and a specificity of 97% for diagnosis of acute stroke, compared with 26% and
98% respectively for CT. For acute intracranial hemorrhage, MRI had a sensitivity of 81% and a
specificity of 100%, compared with 89% and 100% respectively for CT. For acute ischemia, MRI had
a sensitivity of 83% and a specificity of 96%, compared with 16% and 98% respectively for CT
(Chalela et al., 2007). Chalela s findings are consistent with previous literature. In Viirre and Nelson s
study, they have also found that CT and MRI have similar sensitivity for detecting hemorrhage. In
addition, they have also found that MRI has superior sensitivity of 83% compared to 26% for CT
when detecting ischemia (Nelson and Viirre, 2009). MR and CT in Identifying Multiple

Hofstede s Five Dimensions
Geert Hofstede was born in 1928 in the Netherlands. He had an interesting life pretty much filled with
cultural shocks. Around his twentieth birthday, he decided to leave his native Netherlands and go to
explore other places in the world. He went to do an internship as an assistant ship s engineer in
Indonesia; this was his first time out of the country and it proved to be his first cultural shock. Being
immersed in a completely different culture, he was keen to observe and compare the cultural
differences between the Netherlands and his new host country. Following his work experience in
Indonesia, he followed his heart a girl to England, where he experienced his second cultural shock.
This greatly influenced his career path, and led ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He found that negotiating with the Chinese as a race was frustrating, as their long term vision hindered
them from making rapid decisions within an urgent timeline. Many criticisms have been voiced about
Hofstede s Five Cultural Dimensions , many irritated, condescending, or ridiculing reviews (e.g.
Cooper, 1982; Roberts Boyacigiller, 1984) . These comments were not the only, or the harshest, of the
reviews Hofstede received his most frequent and negative critique is Brendan McSweeney, PhD, and
his most serious and noteworthy critique is Nigel Holden. Professor B. McSweeny criticises the fact
that Hofstede s work relies on fundamentally flawed assumptions. One of Hofstede s assumptions for
example is: every micro location is typical of the national . This assumption is built on the hypothesis
that there is a uniform national culture , based on findings gleaned from a group of people working at
IBM. McSweeney puts this assumption in doubt, claiming that this does not reflect a proper
representation of the supposed national uniformity . McSweeney pertains that Hofstede s surveys
cannot be used to measure culture, because they are unsuitable and fundamentally flawed. He says that
we would need a leap of faith to believe that Hofstede actually identified the cultures he studied.
Hofstede based his research on nations as units of analysis, which was not the most appropriate in

My Experience At The Fire Department Of New York Essay
The single greatest event that to this point that has shaped my life is clearly September 11, 2001. Not,
moment in a given day do not think about that day and how it changed me as a person. I worked
twenty years for the Fire Department of New York, I cannot say I got there by my intelligence or
physical prowess it was dumb luck on a civil service exam. My retirement was very simple first when
I was a teenager my family summered in Wells Beach I ha d gotten a summer job at the local beach
market known as Ben s Market I worked there four summers. My dream was when I would retire I
would buy the market from Ben. In the 1993 Ben got a divorce from his wife three years later the
market was in trouble with the bank and it went into foreclosure. Again as dumb luck would have it
my father told me about this and I bid on the proper at auction and somehow won the bid. This is now
1995 more than several years before I had planned on retiring; however one of the perks of being a
firefighter is that we only work 96 days a year. Or another way of looking at it is I worked 8 days a
month. So to work the market for three months during the summer I would have to find swaps for 24
days. So for the last five years of working at the firehouse I would swap out shirts during the fall and
winter to cover my time. The next part of my retirement plan was that I would work summers and my
wife and I would travel the rest of the time. Secretly, I wanted to talk my wife into sell the home we

The Collective Memory In Cracking India And The...
Memory of a singular event can differ amongst individuals, even those in the same neighborhood or
family. Each individual brings a collective of different experiences, mindsets, identities, etc. to the
table and therefore, perceives events differently. Although a seemingly simple concept, there is a
distinctness of individual memory that does not coincide with the collective memory of a community.
In terms of historical events, a nation s communal memory is not solely rooted in fact but also in the
oral histories of those individuals who lived through the event. There is no one history. Consequently,
there is a discourse between the collective memory of the community and the individual memory.
India s 1947 partition reveals that there are many different histories to the independence of India and
the subsequent creation of Pakistan. By utilizing the text Cracking India, author Bapsi Sidhwa
examines the disparities between the two types of memories in order to reconcile the past with
contemporary India/Pakistan.
India and Pakistan are built from the same foundational nation of India before Partition; thus, their
histories are irrevocably bound together despite their contemporary violence and distrust towards each
other. India was once colonized by the British for three centuries, known as the jewel in the British
crown for its wealth in resources and spices. Regarding India s independence from the British Empire
in 1947, a bitter victory emerged as the Partition of India

Public Education In The Film Waiting For Superman
There is an evident issue with the public schooling system in America today. Throughout the entire
country, kids are the victims of schools that fail to gift them with the knowledge that they need to
excel past high school. In lower class areas of the country, students are destined to become dropouts
because their education simply does not provide them a way out. In the film, Waiting for Superman,
director Davis Guggenheim claims that schools are failing to meet beneficial education standards for
all students. Due to their demographic, children in lower class areas of the country do not have access
to the same educational opportunities that wealthier families receive. Throughout the film,
Guggenheim s use of music and pacing creates a powerful feeling of sympathy in the audience
towards the children that are not privileged to a better education because of their economic status. By
utilizing these devices, the film ultimately hopes to build on the audience s sympathy in order to
possibly ignite a change for the public education system in the United States. There are a variety of
ways in which music is used throughout this film, but the use of sad music and silence are the two
most important in terms of building a strong emotional appeal. By implementing these styles of music,
the film illustrates the emotional frustration within lower class students and parents who are simply
looking to find a beneficial education for their children. Melancholy music serves as an

Metaphor In Sonnet 73
Most live their lives in fear of their final day, saying goodbye to loved ones and making their final
memories. In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 73 , Shakespeare contemplates the loss his lover will feel
when their love is cut short by his approaching death. He fondly reflects on the memories they share
all the while mourning the imminent end of his love upon his death. The speaker reveals that the limit
on the longevity of their relationship will only strengthen their love, demonstrating that love is
reinforced rather than destroyed with hardship.
Extended metaphors portray the changing of the speakers lifestyle as he reflects on his once bright
youth. Vivid imagery is used to describe the slow loss of liveliness the speaker experiences as he
comes to accept the changing seasons of his own life. The speaker s declining physical condition is
described in reference to yellow leaves which few or none hold on to the last glimpse of life within the
speaker. This reference to fall weather can be associated with the dormancy of fall crops as they
prepare for the winter, and in the speaker s case death. The speaker witnesses as he loses power within
his life and begins to prematurely morne the bright life he once had. this metaphor emphasises the loss
of physical well being and the mental stress the speaker feels when moving further from his youth.
The final season of life is described as cold winds blowing against, the shaking branches of a tree. The

Qr Codes In The Classroom
When choosing a topic for this assignment I had recently seen my sister s grade 7 class do an activity
using QR codes. Maeve had then told me about how she had done a lesson on the human body using
QR codes with her grade 4 class. I had never used QR codes and was curious on how it worked and
how easily it can be set up. While working in this project, I was amazed to see how easy it is to create
QR codes. When trying to generate ideas on how to use them in the classroom, it was easy. There are
really endless ways to use QR codes in the classroom. I am a strong believer in integrating movement

After reflection on ways to use them in the classroom, I think the most practical way to use them is in
subjects that have plenty of inquiry opportunities (science, social studies, music, dance). In the
younger grades, students have not yet developed good research skills. Having the QR codes makes the
research more teacher directed, which is beneficial for both student learning, and internet safety. For
example, if a grade 7 class is working on a project about human trafficking, the teacher can find some
resources and videos that are age appropriate for the students instead of students typing human
trafficking into Google and being shown many articles, and videos that are not appropriate for their
age group. Overall I believe that QR codes can be used for almost anything in the Ontario Curriculum

Health And Welfare Of The Animal
Introduction
Nutrition is how organisms break down food to makes sure that they take in all the key nutrients
which are need to help the animal survive in it environment. Nutrition is important because it helps
animals: see in the dark, helps animals grow, repair cells, it helps with reproduce and fight of disease.
In this assignment I will be talking about the functions of all the nutrients, the sources which animals
can get these nutrients from and how the nutrient can promote the health and welfare of the animal. I
will also will be comment on the functions and structure of two different digestive systems for an
monogastric (simple stomach) animal (Dog) and ruminant (cow).
So what is macro and micro nutrition?
Macro nutrition are nutrients which animals need in large amount. The nutrients animals need in large
amount are carbohydrates, protein and fats. Micro nutrition is nutrients that animals in small amount.
The nutrients animals need in small amount are vitamins and minerals.
What are fat soluble/ water soluble vitamins?
Fat soluble vitamins are vitamins that dissolve in lipid (fats). Examples of fat soluble vitamins are
vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E and vitamin K. Water soluble vitamins are vitamins that dissolve in
water. Examples of water soluble vitamins are vitamin C and Vitamin D.
Nutrients
There are seven key nutrients, which are: Carbohydrates, Protein, Fats/ Lipids, Vitamin, Minerals,
Fibre and Water. I will now be describing the function; the source

Nella Larsen s Passing challenges the traditional ideology of ethnic, racial, and gender integrity,
transforming the concept of an acceptable definition of identity, which both individuals and society
can appreciate. By developing exceptionally round characters whom are unstable and volatile, Larsen

stereotypes, society has ascribed to her. Leaving her in a limbo for identity white or black, however,
she never has the chance to align to a particular identity because of her mysterious death, while Irene

However, Larsen makes use of unstable identities that can been seen through the passage via Brian

The True Metamorphosis

the reason why Gregor Samsa was transformed into a hideous beetle. The truth is Gregor had put
himself into a position of demise long ago. Over the years, he had worked himself into both physical

Russian Orthodox Church Essay
he Russian Orthodox Church when through many troubles during the Soviet Union Era. When the
Tsarist government was overthrown and Bolsheviks took over, the Russian Orthodox Church was
without official state backing for the first time in its history. The new Communist government issued a
decree that declared freedom of religious and anti religious propaganda which banned church
programs from television and led to a decline in church power and influence. The Russian Orthodox
Church supported the White Army which in the end was the losing side of the Russian Civil War after
the October Revolution. The Soviet government saw the church as a counter revolutionary
organization. The Soviet government also believed the church had a great influence on society. Even
though the Soviet Union claimed religious tolerance, the government still discouraged organized
religion and tried its best to remove religious influence from Soviet society. The Russian Orthodox

Essay On Juicing
The FDA daily recommended servings of fruits and vegetables is 2 to 4 daily. How many upstanding
citizens actually get that on a daily basis? Does a hamburger s tomato and lettuce count? How about
the salsa on a burrito? What actually counts as a serving? From personal experience, the reality of our
daily intake does not come close to 2 servings let alone 4.What if a person s daily nutritional needs
could be acquired with a glass of juice. Juicing is often regarded as a fad diet, made famous by Dr. Oz
and the Kardashians. When, in actuality, juicing is a holistic way of curing ailments, detoxifying the

the taste can be masked by other fruits or veggies. To be concise, juicing is just as healthy, if not
healthier, than eating regular fruits and vegetables. It is a way of life that not only is beneficial to your
health but also to the well being of your mind. Through Dr. Max Gerson s findings, it disproves the

European Witch Hunt Essay
The epoch of Medieval European history concerning the vast and complicated witch hunts spanning
from 1450 to 1750 is demonstrative of the socioeconomic, religious, and cultural changes that were
occurring within a population that was unprepared for the reconstruction of society. Though numerous
conclusions concerning the witch trials, why they occurred, and who was prosecuted have been
founded within agreement there remains interpretations that expand on the central beliefs. Through
examining multiple arguments a greater understanding of this period can be observed as there remains
a staggering amount of catalysts and consequences that emerged. In the pursuit of a greater

This heresy involved all characteristics and beliefs which were opposed by Christianity resulting in

unity virtually impossible to attain, 2 further perpetuating instability and the occurrence of witch
accusations. It is also agreed upon that the political and economic change found within Europe had an
immense psychological affect, as the population believed in a fixed order of the cosmos, 3
encouraging them to rationalize the changes they were experiencing. Beyond these agreed upon
opinions both Boss and Ben Yehuda develop additional perspectives. Boss explores the burgeoning
cases of syphilis within misogynistic medieval society paralleled with the high rate of infanticide due
to infected mothers. It was believed that witches engaged in sexual acts with the devil resulting in
various adverse effects, one being the emergence of syphilis and infanticide. Boss notes that the
syphilis association is evidenced in a common tendency for accusations of infanticide to rise with the
tide of witchcraft prosecutions, 4 as women were targeted for the occurrence of infertility post plague.
Comparatively, Ben Yehuda argues the propagation of the witch hunts transpired due to a fall in
heretic factions of opposing religious groups that the inquisition

Rising Water Levels Threatening The Maldives Islands
Rising Water Levels Threatening the Maldives Islands
The global warming is a phenomenon happening all over the earth, there are several causes, but most
are a result of human activity. The graph in image 1 shows that a significant increase in the climate
temperature in the mid 20th century, somewhere between 1900 and 1950. The industrial revolution
happened between the years 1820 and 1840, although great improvements in technology were
achieved in the 1900 s. The increasing temperatures since the industrial revolution work as a proof
that global warming is a direct effect of human activity. As image 1 shows before the 20th century the
variations in the earth s climate were minimal, except for that of the ice age. Although the industrial
revolution detonated the rising temperature due to the use of new chemicals, this change is not evident
until it surpasses the previously registered temperatures in the mid 1900 s. Science and technology
have improved in the last 200 years, most devices used to measure changes in temperatures were just
developed about 150 years ago, so there is not much information of the temperatures before that
(Vallis). Nevertheless, scientists have been able to estimate the earth s temperature from millions of
years ago by studding trees, fossils, sediments and water temperatures. Recent studies have proved
how many man made chemicals and activities have contributed to the climate change, affecting the
natural processes in the earth like the

Gatorade Lab Report
Background
The growth and survival of a plant depends on the reactions that occur internally called
photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a reaction that captures the sun s energy and converts it, water, and
carbon dioxide into glucose, with a byproduct of oxygen. Glucose is a sugar that provides energy to
allow for a plant to grow and live. This experiment is to test how photosynthesis can be sped up with a
home solution. The variable being changed in this experiment is the solution that the plant is being
given. In this instance, some of the plants will be given Gatorade, rather than water. The question
being asked is, How well will a solution found in the home affect plant growth?
My hypothesis is that, if a plant is given Gatorade instead of water, then it will grow more quickly
than if the plant is just given water. This is because of the components of Gatorade. Gatorade contains
water, a key component of plant growth. But, because Gatorade contains various vitamins, sugars, and
electrolytes, the plant should already be supplied with some of the products of photosynthesis, so the
plant should produce sugars at a normal rate, plus have the additional bonus from the Gatorade.
Procedure
Four cups of equal size were filled with one cup of garden soil. Lima beans were planted at an equal
depth (one inch as instructed on the bag). Every day, for 33 days, each plant received one half
tablespoon of the specified liquid. Beans one and two got one half tablespoon of water each,

the pit is where the shouts, cries and curses are being flung, and the pit is where the champ mud

Abortion for Underage Children Should Require Parental...
Underage people are prohibiting smoking, drinking, or going in field trips without their parents
permission. Therefore, how can a teenage girl have an abortion without the approval of her parents?
Abortion itself is a controversial subject, and underage abortion is even more controversial. Minors
should not have an abortion without the consent of their parents or their legal guardians for a variety
of reasons. First, most adolescents are not mature enough to make decisions that will change their
lives forever. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen
Sebelius state, Some older adolescents have the cognitive ability and capacity to reason similarly to an
adult. However, neuroimaging studies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parents must be included in their children s decisions because parents can influence their children in a
significant way. For instance, parental consent laws reduce the minor abortion rate by 19 percent (qtd.
in Davis). A 2008 study done by Michael J. New, Ph.D. shows that parental involvement laws reduce
the abortion rate among 17 years old by 18.3 percent, among 16 years old by 14.3 percent, and among
15 years old by 8.6 percent (qtd. in Davis). These statistics show that the states that require parental
involvement laws the abortion rates decline greatly. Sometimes, teens want to have an abortion
because they are afraid of their parents. However, if the law requires minors to inform their parents
about their pregnancy and the possibility of an abortion, their parents will be able to help them. If a
teen does not inform her parents about her being pregnant, this teen will never know if her parents
would have been supportive and guide her through this difficult process. Finally, the most crucial
reason to why parental consent laws for abortion should be legal is the potential medical dangerous
that can occur before and after an abortion (Earll). Parents that are aware of their children desire to
have an abortion and support their children s decisions can provide important medical history to a
physician (Christian Med.). A minor may not be fully conscious of a family history that makes
surgical or medical abortion

Being An International Student Essay
Being accepted into a U.S university is obviously more challenging for a foreign student like you
planning to study in America than for a U.S citizen. However, being a foreign (or international )
student does mean you have a different perspective that schools in the USA are valuable than the ones
in your country.
International students create a significant contribution to US campus life, as well as to college and
university revenues. Consequently, USA colleges and universities admit and welcome international
students.
Which means that, although, you might want to overcome some obstacles as a way to study in
America, international students can be seen as a valuable commodity here. U.S government needs you

jobs usually entail manning at the school help desk, working with the university library, or maybe
even mowing the campus lawns.
Payments from these jobs are generally low, but every dollar can help when it s time to purchase
another textbook or if you intent to buy more foods to cook than eating microwave popcorn every
night!
Foreign students / international students are limited to working 20 hours weekly, off or on campus
(although off campus needs a special international student work permit and is available once after the
1st academic year), so you shouldn t depend on work study program to provide you with much money
throughout the school year.
During holidays and schools vacation, however, a foreign student / international student using the
proper paperwork can work unlimited hours on campus, so you could probably earn a reasonable
amount over the summer

The Good Mother By Ellen Cronan Rose
The idea of Mother Earth is extremely empowering for women; most women believe that, right? Ellen
Cronan Rose finds the idea of mother earth tremendously unempowering. Rose writes in her article
The Good Mother: from Gaia to Gilead , that the imagery of mother earth is deeply problematic and is
harmful to the feminist cause. This is a shocking view considering that most women don t seem to
have a problem with that idea. Ellen Cronan Rose states that the mother earth metaphor is harmful to
the way women are viewed in society because it perpetuates negative stereotypes against women, it
views the earth and women primarily as producers, and it overlooks the fact that both men and women
are connected to nature. She goes in depth into how mother earth imagery can impact women.
The first issue that Rose has with the mother earth image is that it appears to feed into male
stereotypes for women. She quotes a New Age article that states: The Earth is currently terrified. Now,
that s a shocker, isn t it? Great big Earth Goddess...The Big Lady quaking in her well worn earth
boots...She scared. She needs some powerful comforting. (Bagley and McIntosh 221). Language like
this shows that some people connect women with weakness, and that the earth and women need a
strong man to save them. This goes to show that while some women may be empowered by the idea of
a mother earth, others can abuse that idea and twist it into something that is oppressive. There are still
sexist people out

The Scandal Of Healthsouth Corporation Scandal
Introduction Organizational misconduct is the chief cause behind corporate accounting scandals. The
trusted executives of the corporation participation in actions during a scandal are corrupt, unethical,
and illegal. In the United States, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is typically the
government agency that investigates such scandals. One of the most notorious corporate accounting
scandals in the United States is the HealthSouth Corporation scandal of 2003. HealthSouth
Corporation is one of the United States largest healthcare providers with locations nationwide. A
deeper inspection of the HealthSouth scandal is needed to understand how it transpired by assessing
how it was executed, the accounting issues and root of the issue, how it was exposed, the results to the
company and its main contributor, and ramifications as an outcome of the scandal.
Scandal Overview In 1984, Richard Scrushy founded HealthSouth in Birmingham, Alabama. Scrushy
was the company s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) when the company went public in
1986. HealthSouth grew quickly over the next several years. Shortly after HealthSouth went public, it
is alleged that Scrushy instructed senior staff to materially inflate the company s earnings to match
expectations. In 2002, the first sign of troubles occurred when Scrushy sold $75 million of

Coping With Loss, Mechanisms Of The Human Mind
Coping with Loss; Mechanisms of the Human Mind When one loses someone or something valuable
to them, the grief can be intense. But what happens when what they lose is actually a piece of them?
Novels depicting a witness account of The Holocaust (1941 1945) paint a picture of the violence and
moral anguish, which is accompanied by a loss to the protagonist. The plot shows a process of events
that ultimately leads to death and devastation. Both protagonists in Elie Wiesel s Night and Wladyslaw
Szpilman s The Pianist gradually fall into the abyss of inhumane behaviour. Post Holocaust, they
embark on a new life free from social restraints and become either unmindful or compliant to the
losses they faced on their journey. Elie and Wladyslaw ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From then on, I had no other name (Wiesel 42). The minorities in the concentration camps are no
longer individuals, but are dehumanized into empty shells of themselves. The longer they remain in
camps, the more they are reduced to a mere physical presence, losing their selves to their self
preservation instinct, and eventually becoming just hungry, nearly dead bodies. Counting the days
until his liberation, Elie thought [He] was nothing but a body. Perhaps even less: a famished stomach.
The stomach alone was measuring time (Wiesel 52). The loss of the right to be an individual confuses
Elie, making him question whether he is too weak to survive, giving readers their first glimpse into his
change in personality. From a loyal son who fought his father s battles, he becomes the betrayer,
allowing his father to be killed right in front of his eyes. This change in personality is derived from a
Level 3 Defense Mechanism of the human mind known as Dissociation. This Defence Mechanism
involves the victim modifying their own identity to avoid the suffering accompanied by a traumatic
situation. Elie alters his characteristics to be better suited for survival, as seen in how he sacrificed his
father, something he claimed he would never do, perhaps as a way of providing a reason for this
sudden change in personality. By dissociating himself to overcome trauma, Elie loses his sense of his
identity and what he was raised to believe in. Loss is understood as a natural part of

He was considered a hero by his people for protecting them, and spreading terror in the hearts of their

Effects of long term space flight on human
The main plot the science fiction paper includes a trip to a planet out of the solar system, including a
record of the long flight to the destination and a description of the scenarios after landing on the plant.
Discussion of space debris, space hazards, effect of long term space flight will be the main aspects in
the record of the flight alongside with an introduction of the spacecraft technology. Regarding the post
landing scenario, atmospheric composition, condition of the planet surface and habitability of the
planet would be discussed in the paper.
The topic that to be presented in this research paper is the effect of long term space flight. A flight that
takes place in space for months or even years certainly has an impact on crew members conditions,
both physically and psychologically. First and foremost, the major difference in the environment
between the space and what the crew members are used to is the degree of gravity. Although in the
actually spacecraft, zero gravity is countered by the artificial gravity generated to ensure crew
members mobility, astronauts still live and work in an environment with little senses of stability and
weight. Scientists have done experiments in Earth orbit that indicate weightless environment is
deleterious to human body to a certain extent.

  • 3. Changes In Brazil ver time, human development and distribution can be drastically changed and differed according to human and environmental factors. This has very much been the case in Brazil. Over the course of many years major cities like Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro have seen a significant increase in population density, but the creation of Brasilia and government funding of northern cities such as Manaus has also caused an evident shift in population distribution. This change has been created as a result of increase in government funding in projects such as urbanization of northern cities, job opportunities, harsh physical features and both internal and external migration. Northern cities such as Belem and Porto Velho have seen a big increase in population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Major cities in the south east have large populations of immigrants. In fact, Sao Paulo has a population of around 12 million with 1 million of those being Japanese immigrants or of Japanese descents, the most out of anyone else in the world. With more and more people coming into Sao Paulo and other eastern cities like Rio, the population increased and continues increasing. Now with so many immigrants in the south east, natives to Brazil are having to move west and north to find jobs and spread the population out, causing this shift in density. Brasilia is one of those cities. Created in attempt to spread out the population as a result of those growing numbers. Today 23 million people live there demonstrating a major shift in population distribution. Brazil also has the second largest number of German immigrants/descendents with a total of 12 million, most of which are found on the eastern seaboard. Some have moved farther north into the state of Espirito Santo, but not far north enough to see a significant shift from immigrants. Portuguese colonists settled in the north and west, a lot of the immigrants move to those locations to stay with family/people of their region. Italians and Lebanese have also followed them since they are more of a minority and seek employment elsewhere. If more immigrants would follow than the distribution would have a drastic change, but for now that is yet to come. The reason for such a large number of immigrants, especially of European heritage, is that since Brazil was the last country to abolish slavery which was free work, they advertised a lot of cheap work to do in Brazil. Those in need of the money and/or change followed and settled where the most work was needed. Hence why there is such a large concentration of descendant and immigrants in the south east region ... • 4. Scientific Explanation Of Reaction Lab Answers Discussion of Results and Scientific Explanations: The goal of this laboratory was learn how to use the Spectrophotometer to analyze the phosphate content in colas. This is important because the consumers believe that the buffering capacity of phosphate within the colas will settle their upset stomachs. A spectrophotometer, or Spec 20, measures how much a chemical substance absorbs and transmits. The next goal is to determine the relationship between absorbance and transmittance. Transmittance is a measurement of the amount of light that passes through a substance. So if the transmittance is 100 percent then the absorbance is zero. Also another vital goal is to analyze the relationship between absorbance and the wavelength of the two color ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Phosphate is not able to be absorbed alone so AVM, ammonium vanadomolybdate, is necessary to add to give the solution a slight yellow color. This allows the solutions to be absorbed. Once this is understood, you can start the experiment. Start by making a blank solution containing 6mL of water and 3mL of AVM. Next, take .101M and use the equation M1V1=M2V2 to dilute the solution to .0002M, this is shown in Calculation 8. Use this equation to make four dilutions of PO4 3 with AVM. Samples of the four dilutions were run through the spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 360nm, and percent transmittance for each was recorded. The four concentrations of PO4 3 are shown in Table 3. Running the 4 diluted samples through the Spec 20 and finding the %T, between 18% and 85%, allows you to determine the absorbance as well. Concentration and absorbance for PO4 3 is now able to be compared which is shown in Figure 3. As concentration of the phosphate ion goes up, the percent absorbance goes up, this is a direct relationship. This coincides with Beer s Law, A=abC, A being the absorbance, C being the concentration, a being the absorptivity and b being the cell path length.3 The higher concentration of a solution, the more light is absorbed. The slope of the calibration curve is y=543949x 1.4302, y being the percent absorbance and x being the phosphate content, this is shown in Figure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gore Associates is an American manufacturing company that specializes in making products derived from polytetrafluoroethylene, or simply PTFE. The company is best known for its Gore Tex fabric coating, which makes fabric waterproof and windproof, but yet breathable. The company evolved from the late Wilbert L. Gore s experiences personally, organizationally, and technically. Mr. Gore moved to E. I. du Pont de Nemours in 1945 where he was part of a team that worked on the development of applications for PTFE. Wilber Gore, or Bill to his coworkers, became knowledgeable in the development of computers and transistors. He believed that PTFE had the ideal insulating characteristics that would make PTFE useful in such equipment. A breakthrough happened in the basement in his house when Mr. Gore and his son Bob successfully created PTFE coated ribbon by using PTFE sealant tape made by 3M. Because Du Pont wanted to remain a supplier of raw materials and not a fabricator, Bill was unsuccessful in convincing Du Pont to make his PTFE coated ribbon cable. On January 1, 1958, Bill and his wife Vieve founded W.L. Gore Associates in the basement of their house. The company took off when the Gores secured an order for $100,000. W.L. In direct contrast with Heimlich, exists the word unheimlich, which can be understood as something that is the opposite of homelike. • 8. Science And Religion Research Paper Today, it seems like science and religion are in a constant, bloody war with one another, similarly to the on going war between the Palestinians and the Jews, but what are science and religion? Science is the intellectual study of the structure and behavior of the world through observation and experiment. Religion is the belief in a superior being or many superior beings. Although science and religion seem like two diverse topics, the two methods of explanation are more alike than one would think, and both of these things together complement each other to give us our modern technology and how we as a society should use it. First, to explain how science and religion are similar, we have to look back in time. Throughout our history and deep in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without the contribution our religion institution provided us, we could still be stuck in a dark time with a lack of advances in technological. The catholic church was the first place to allowed the common folk (peasants) the luxury of books and education. Before the Catholic Church opened the opportunity of education and books to the masses, education and books were strictly for the wealthy. With the education provided by the catholic church, the people started to question things in their environment. They also started pursuing answers to their questions away from text. People held experiments and would document it carefully. An example of a person who did document his findings is Roger Bacon. It was the curiosity of the common folk and the opportunity the Catholic Church gave the common folk that helped to re birth science in Europe. This action made by the catholic church changed the course of history, which gave European empires an opportunity to compete among the hegemonic powers at the time (the Abbasid Empire), and brought Europe out of the gloomy Medieval Era and into the beautiful Renaissance Era. To this day, the Catholic Church remains one of the main contributors to educating the youth of the world and as a result, has a huge emphasis on science and technology. The second clue to how these three big topics are closely related is in the nature of science. Science is our explanation of the world backed up with experimentation and hard fact. Although the accuracy rates of MR and CT are comparable in detecting acute intracranial hemorrhage, MR has an overall higher diagnostic yield for stroke and multiple sclerosis related central vertigo. Professor B. McSweeny criticises the fact that Hofstede s work relies on fundamentally flawed assumptions. One of Hofstede s assumptions for example is: every micro location is typical of the national . This assumption is built on the hypothesis that there is a uniform national culture , based on findings gleaned from a group of people working at IBM. McSweeney puts this assumption in doubt, claiming that this does not reflect a proper representation of the supposed national uniformity . McSweeney pertains that Hofstede s surveys cannot be used to measure culture, because they are unsuitable and fundamentally flawed. He says that we would need a leap of faith to believe that Hofstede actually identified the cultures he studied. Not, moment in a given day do not think about that day and how it changed me as a person. I worked twenty years for the Fire Department of New York, I cannot say I got there by my intelligence or physical prowess it was dumb luck on a civil service exam. My retirement was very simple first when I was a teenager my family summered in Wells Beach I ha d gotten a summer job at the local beach market known as Ben s Market I worked there four summers. My dream was when I would retire I would buy the market from Ben. In the 1993 Ben got a divorce from his wife three years later the market was in trouble with the bank and it went into foreclosure. Again as dumb luck would have it my father told me about this and I bid on the proper at auction and somehow won the bid. This is now 1995 more than several years before I had planned on retiring; however one of the perks of being a firefighter is that we only work 96 days a year. Or another way of looking at it is I worked 8 days a month. So to work the market for three months during the summer I would have to find swaps for 24 days. So for the last five years of working at the firehouse I would swap out shirts during the fall and winter to cover my time. Each individual brings a collective of different experiences, mindsets, identities, etc. to the table and therefore, perceives events differently. Although a seemingly simple concept, there is a distinctness of individual memory that does not coincide with the collective memory of a community. In terms of historical events, a nation s communal memory is not solely rooted in fact but also in the oral histories of those individuals who lived through the event. There is no one history. Consequently, there is a discourse between the collective memory of the community and the individual memory. India s 1947 partition reveals that there are many different histories to the independence of India and the subsequent creation of Pakistan. By utilizing the text Cracking India, author Bapsi Sidhwa examines the disparities between the two types of memories in order to reconcile the past with contemporary India/Pakistan. India and Pakistan are built from the same foundational nation of India before Partition; thus, their histories are irrevocably bound together despite their contemporary violence and distrust towards each other. Throughout the entire country, kids are the victims of schools that fail to gift them with the knowledge that they need to excel past high school. In lower class areas of the country, students are destined to become dropouts because their education simply does not provide them a way out. In the film, Waiting for Superman, director Davis Guggenheim claims that schools are failing to meet beneficial education standards for all students. Due to their demographic, children in lower class areas of the country do not have access to the same educational opportunities that wealthier families receive. Throughout the film, Guggenheim s use of music and pacing creates a powerful feeling of sympathy in the audience towards the children that are not privileged to a better education because of their economic status. By utilizing these devices, the film ultimately hopes to build on the audience s sympathy in order to possibly ignite a change for the public education system in the United States. There are a variety of ways in which music is used throughout this film, but the use of sad music and silence are the two most important in terms of building a strong emotional appeal. By implementing these styles of music, the film illustrates the emotional frustration within lower class students and parents who are simply looking to find a beneficial education for their children. In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 73 , Shakespeare contemplates the loss his lover will feel when their love is cut short by his approaching death. He fondly reflects on the memories they share all the while mourning the imminent end of his love upon his death. The speaker reveals that the limit on the longevity of their relationship will only strengthen their love, demonstrating that love is reinforced rather than destroyed with hardship. Extended metaphors portray the changing of the speakers lifestyle as he reflects on his once bright youth. Vivid imagery is used to describe the slow loss of liveliness the speaker experiences as he comes to accept the changing seasons of his own life. The speaker s declining physical condition is described in reference to yellow leaves which few or none hold on to the last glimpse of life within the speaker. This reference to fall weather can be associated with the dormancy of fall crops as they prepare for the winter, and in the speaker s case death. The speaker witnesses as he loses power within his life and begins to prematurely morne the bright life he once had. this metaphor emphasises the loss of physical well being and the mental stress the speaker feels when moving further from his youth. • 28. Gatorade Lab Report Background The growth and survival of a plant depends on the reactions that occur internally called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a reaction that captures the sun s energy and converts it, water, and carbon dioxide into glucose, with a byproduct of oxygen. Glucose is a sugar that provides energy to allow for a plant to grow and live. This experiment is to test how photosynthesis can be sped up with a home solution. The variable being changed in this experiment is the solution that the plant is being given. In this instance, some of the plants will be given Gatorade, rather than water. The question being asked is, How well will a solution found in the home affect plant growth? My hypothesis is that, if a plant is given Gatorade instead of water, then it will grow more quickly than if the plant is just given water. This is because of the components of Gatorade. Gatorade contains water, a key component of plant growth. But, because Gatorade contains various vitamins, sugars, and electrolytes, the plant should already be supplied with some of the products of photosynthesis, so the plant should produce sugars at a normal rate, plus have the additional bonus from the Gatorade. Procedure Four cups of equal size were filled with one cup of garden soil. Lima beans were planted at an equal depth (one inch as instructed on the bag). Their cathedral was calling to them, the old run down barn in the middle of an abandoned field. From the barn just under the drumming rain, you could hear the stomping of feet. Just under the howling winds, an orchestra of screams, choruses of curses ring. And just under the crashing of thunder, the sounds of bone meeting flesh beats. The pit sits in the barn, the pit is where the shouts, cries and curses are being flung, and the pit is where the champ mud covered, stands toe to toe with another would be challenger. Men of all ages encircle the pit; the older ones pointing out differences in the strengths and weaknesses of the fighters. Therefore, how can a teenage girl have an abortion without the approval of her parents? Abortion itself is a controversial subject, and underage abortion is even more controversial. Minors should not have an abortion without the consent of their parents or their legal guardians for a variety of reasons. First, most adolescents are not mature enough to make decisions that will change their lives forever. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius state, Some older adolescents have the cognitive ability and capacity to reason similarly to an adult. However, neuroimaging studies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parents must be included in their children s decisions because parents can influence their children in a significant way. For instance, parental consent laws reduce the minor abortion rate by 19 percent (qtd. in Davis). A 2008 study done by Michael J. New, Ph.D. shows that parental involvement laws reduce the abortion rate among 17 years old by 18.3 percent, among 16 years old by 14.3 percent, and among 15 years old by 8.6 percent (qtd. in Davis). These statistics show that the states that require parental involvement laws the abortion rates decline greatly. Sometimes, teens want to have an abortion because they are afraid of their parents. However, if the law requires minors to inform their parents about their pregnancy and the possibility of an abortion, their parents will be able to help them. If a teen does not inform her parents about her being pregnant, this teen will never know if her parents would have been supportive and guide her through this difficult process. Finally, the most crucial reason to why parental consent laws for abortion should be legal is the potential medical dangerous that can occur before and after an abortion (Earll). Parents that are aware of their children desire to have an abortion and support their children s decisions can provide important medical history to a physician (Christian Med.). • 33. The Good Mother By Ellen Cronan Rose The idea of Mother Earth is extremely empowering for women; most women believe that, right? Ellen Cronan Rose finds the idea of mother earth tremendously unempowering. Rose writes in her article The Good Mother: from Gaia to Gilead , that the imagery of mother earth is deeply problematic and is harmful to the feminist cause. This is a shocking view considering that most women don t seem to have a problem with that idea. Ellen Cronan Rose states that the mother earth metaphor is harmful to the way women are viewed in society because it perpetuates negative stereotypes against women, it views the earth and women primarily as producers, and it overlooks the fact that both men and women are connected to nature. She goes in depth into how mother earth imagery can impact women. The first issue that Rose has with the mother earth image is that it appears to feed into male stereotypes for women. She quotes a New Age article that states: The Earth is currently terrified. Now, that s a shocker, isn t it? Great big Earth Goddess...The Big Lady quaking in her well worn earth boots...She scared. She needs some powerful comforting. (Bagley and McIntosh 221). Language like this shows that some people connect women with weakness, and that the earth and women need a strong man to save them. This goes to show that while some women may be empowered by the idea of a mother earth, others can abuse that idea and twist it into something that is oppressive. There are still sexist people out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
