Everyday people rely on memory. Remembering to set your clock the night before,
the routine you do every morning getting ready for the day, remembering what you
must do for the day, and remembering something as simple as making a sandwich.
None of this is possible without memory. Memory is the ability to be able to mentally
remember and manipulate information. Memorycan be affected by strong emotions,
injuries and diseases. There are different types of memory; sensory, short term, and
long term memory. Sensory memory is sensory information coming at you that you
can be retained for a few milliseconds. It s the shortest memory out of the three and
is held just long enough to move to short term memory. In sensory memory, we
have iconic (visual) and echoic (auditory) memory. Iconic memory is the visual
memory one sees and retains. When looking at objects, faces, words, or numbers
your brain may choose to keep some information and move it to short term memory.
When you are exposed visually to something, majority of the time its lost within
500milliseconds. Negative effects can cause sensory memory capacity to decrease
but the precision of what is seen increases (Spachtholz, Kuhbandner, Pekrun, 2014.)
When exposed to negative sensory, what you can remember is decreased but the
detail of what you remember is more accurate.
Echoic memory is a sensory memory that is specific to receiving auditory
information. Majority of what we hear is forgotten in 1 second. Sensory memory
allows us to collect information and process it just long enough to move to short
term memory. After sensory memory, there is short term memory or as some call it
working memory. Here, memory is stored long enough to use it. When a task is
needed to be completed, it is obtained here and may be quickly forgotten after the
task is complete. Short term memory and long term memory can work back and
forth. Information that is deemed important and to be remembered goes to long term
memory and when you need to remember something, it comes from your long term
memory and goes back to short term memory. After it is used, it goes back to long
term memory to be recalled at a later time. Information that comes from sensory

Andy Whorl Andy Whorl was a popular American print artist in the 1960. He
helped create the style of art known as Pop Art. Pop Art showed what was popular
in American culture; products, celebrities, etc. Andy Whorl s career started out as
a commercial artist. Some of his fellow artists admired him and his work, while
other did not consider him a true artist. He displayed some of his work in museums
and became famous. A friend of Andy told him to make art based on everyday
things, so Andy made his famous picture of the multiple Campbell s soup cans.
Whorl used mass production to make some of his artwork like the Ten Lizes
featuring Elizabeth Taylor. His mass production method involved silk screening.
Before he could make the silk screen products, he had to have the images enlarged

In today s society there are many regulations and or laws a business must follow.
Every day there are businesses that cut corners but there are also some businesses
that are charged by the law, due to illegal practices. Two businesses/companies that
have been charged with unethical and illegal practices within the past two years are
ExxonMobil which is the world s largest energy company and FedEx which is one of
the world s top carriers (Diaz Shephard, 2013).
In 2013, Exxon Mobil Corp. was charged with dumping more than 50,000 gallons of
waste water in Pennsylvania. The waste water was coming from the Marquandt well
sites waste tanks, located in Pennsylvania s Lycoming County. As Inspectors from the
States Department of Environmental Protection began their unannounced
investigation, they discovered that a plug had been removed from the tank which was
what allowed the waste water to exit the tank onto the ground, polluting a nearby
stream. Furthermore, Exxon Mobil then was ordered to remove 3,000 tons of soil as
part of the clean project (Diaz Shephard, 2013). Pennsylvania s attorney general
website Bloomberg.com stated that natural gas wastewater may contain a number of
toxins, including chlorides, barium, strontium, and aluminum . This company was
charged with five counts of unlawful conduct under the Clean Streams Law, and also
charged with three counts under the Solid Waste Management Act (Kennedy, 2013).

to them when they tell us to not ride a golf cart at 1 A.M. on a freezing cold winter
night. My day started off just as it usually does, I wake up and go straight to the
kitchen for my morning cup of hot chocolate. I knew that this day was going to be
fun, it was New Year s eve. My grandparents were having a familyparty that night. I
have a very close relationship with all of my family so seeing everyone together
again was extremely exciting. We got to my grandparents house around 7 P.M.
Most of my family arrived earlier so, I went off to see what my cousins were
doing. I found them in the backyard driving rampant on my grandfather s new golf
cart. I probably should have taken this as a sign to not get on, but everyone else
was doing it so I decided I should just do it too. Our parents eventually told us it
was getting too late and to come inside. After watching the ball drop, My cousins

picked up speed, way faster than we expected. As we got towards the end of the
driveway, Blake decided it would be a good idea to make a sharp left turn. This
