Tell Tale Heart Comparison
The Tell Tale Heart , by Edgar Allan Poe, is a literary masterpiece. It is written from the unique
perspective of a madman who is out to kill an old man because of his Evil Eye . The man
accomplishes this but is overcome with guilt in the form of a beating heart for he loved the man. The
madman gives himself up to the police when he can t bear to hear the heart any longer. The original
version of The Tell Tale Heart is far superior to the version written by me in a different perspective.
The phrase The original is always better than the sequel stands true in the case of The Tell Tale Heart .
It is better, without even saying anything about its details, just because of Edgar Allan Poe s unique
writing style. His writing style goes

Lencioni s Model On Teamwork
The authors of the article Zou Ko (2012) have used the frameworks and models of teamwork
specifically the Lencioni s model on teamwork. The model is based on the three year duration in
which the pre and post tests of student s knowledge related to effective teamwork are assessed through
the feedback or questionnaire. On the other hand, the second article of Hernandez Linares et al (2015)
has provided the conceptual framework on the transversal competences among engineering students.
The authors found the problem in the previous literature and conceptual problem that the students are
expected to possess far beyond the knowledge being taught and assessed due to which teachers are

The selected article of Zou Ko (2012) found the positive influence on the teamwork skills through the
systematic intervention along with the identified behaviours of Chinese students in Hong Kong
working in team. The researchers further demonstrated that students have developed the improved
awareness along with the conception of teamwork after the development of systematic efforts.
However, the authors noticed a decline in the division of work in the session of post test, which
reflects a change of mindset of students in the appropriate direction. Moreover, certain changes have
been observed in the students during interviews and it has been pointed out that the students did not
get sufficient time for discussions in team work due to limited time between experiments and
submission of reports and this influenced their team performance. This highlighted the students
understanding about the significance of team work and communication with the team members. The
aspects of dealing with the conflicts in teamwork have been highlighted in the interviews in the
context of describing in written tests. The authors have also discussed the limitations of the study as
they faced certain concerns for which they considered the alternative solutions. On the other hand,
discussion of the study of Hernandez Linares et al (2015) pointed that the students of engineering are
incapable of organise teamwork as compared to the students of other domains and this can be due to
the practical character of this domain. This allowed the researchers to highlight the insufficient team
work that can be supplemented or improved by the group tasks and with the help of different learning
techniques. The students are found to make mistakes and face

Essay On American Culture
Though I experienced culture shock many times throughout my life but I d never experienced an
occurrence that resonated so deeply until my first semester in college at Fairfield University. I knew
Fairfield University was different than everything I had ever known before I began my journey there,
but I wasn t prepared for how different it actually was.
Fairfield University is an extremely expensive college the only reason I could afford to go there was
because I was offered a scholarship for graduating from a high school in Bridgeport and even then I
struggled to pay what was left of my tuition. About a week into the semester I was offered a job at the

aside from the fact that we sat next to each other in class and that he was the only other Hispanic
student in the classroom which I learned through typical icebreakers. At first, I could tell he was
startled to see me but then he greeted me warmly, almost as though we had known each other forever.
When I asked him what I could help him with he told me that he needed help writing a check. I wasn t

student who needed help writing a check how much are you writing it out for? He told me he was
writing a check for his tuition balance he owed the full amount for tuition which was over $30k.
Initially, I didn t think anything of it I knew how much tuition was and I knew that wasn t receiving
any financial aid. I thought it was common for a student to pay their entire tuition at once. I helped

Water Scarcity A Growing Threat Of Humanity
Water Scarcity a Growing Threat to Humanity The world s population is growing. The need for water
is rising with the birth of every child. Sooner than most people would want to admit, the water
resources available in the world would be inadequate to cater for the needs of humanity. As
developing countries seek to become industrialized, more water will be needed for their industries.
The developed world is also not slowing down its water usage in its industries. Given the important
part it plays in growth, the world is well in its path to facing its worse season yet: living without water.
When one goes to a country where water problems are real, they find businesses have made water a
prominent factor in determining whether or not to set up and run their businesses there. No one can
afford to bury their head in the sand anymore. The water problem that is not far away in the future
must be addressed now. Water resources by 2050 The society cannot afford to ignore the fact that
water resources are limited. According to IFPRI (International Food Policy Research Institute), by
2050, there will be 4.8 billion people who will be struggling with limited water resources. This is over
half of the world s population. As the world s population grows, there will be a greater need for
economic development and more food. Factories producing grain use water more than any other input.
In fact, water accounts for almost half of all inputs in the manufacturing industry across the globe. By

Analysis Of Concord, By Jakob Andreae And Martin Chemnitz
The book of Concord, or Concordia , lays out the beliefs and theology of the Lutheran Church. It was
officially put together as of 1580, or late 16th century in order to put a stop to religious controversy
after the death of Martin Luther in 1546. This book was written by a group of theologians led by
Jakob Andreae and Martin Chemnitz. This book was intended to grasp all of the prefaced doctrines
and beliefs and to put together the Lutheran Church as we know it today. It opens with a preface, and
then goes into three past creeds that establish what a Christian is, then followed by the Ausburg
Confession, Which is the literal written out beliefs of The Lutheran Church.
Inside of the Ausburg confession, there are 28 articles, including a preface and a conclusion, though
only the first 21 are actual chief articles of faith, the other 7 speak of abuses of power.
Article 1 is about how the Lutheran church sees God as a whole, believing in the Triune God and
reject other interpretations regarding the nature of God.
Article 2 speaks of sin, how since the fall of Adam, all men (and women) are born into sin without the
fear of God, without trust in God and with strong desires to please oneself, and that even now we are
dead to sin, unless saved through being born again through babtism and the Holy Ghost.
Article 3 speaks on their beliefs in Jesus, or the Son of God. They believe that the Word did assume
human nature in the womb of Mother Mary, but also kept his divine holiness,

often associated with developmental delays and childhood neglect (p. 540). The DSM IV TR indicated

findings might be associated with medical conditions in connection with extreme neglect that may
include but not limited to delay in physical growth, evidence of physical abuse, malnutrition, vitamin

subtypes of the disorder which was identified to be caused by pathogenic care as evidenced by
persistent disregard of the child s emotional and physical needs (Corbin, 2007, p. 540). The subtypes
are: Inhibited Type the child persistently fails to initiate and to respond to most social interactions in a
developmentally appropriate way. The child shows a pattern of excessively inhibited, hyper vigilant,
or highly ambivalent responses (e.g., frozen watchfulness, resistance to comfort, or a mixture of
approach and avoidance). Disinhibited Type there is a pattern of diffuse choice of attachment. The
disturbance is not accounted for solely by developmental delay (e.g., as in Mental Retardation) and
does not meet criteria for Pervasive Developmental Disorder. (pp.127 128) Risk factors According to

The Characteristics Of The Humanist Movement In The Iliad
There are many unknowns regarding who Homer was. His date of birth and death are still a mystery to
modern day historians, ranging anywhere between the twelfth to eighth century BCE. As to where he
was born, no one knows the exact location. Although there are many mysteries revolving around
Homer s life, there is one known fact: his epics changed history forever. Homer s epics are one of the
only few artifacts historians have to learn about Homer, which can reveal a lot if read carefully. After
reading the Iliad, it became clear that Homer was an early Humanist, one who possibly shaped or
inspired the Humanist movement in Classical Greece during the fifth and fourth century BCE. The
Humanist movement during Classical Greece glorified the human body, which can be shown through
the many sculptures and paintings created during the era. These sculptures resembled the ideal human
body, the body every Greek should strive to achieve. The ideal body type was that of an athlete (PBS,
2017). There are hints of this image of the ideal body in Homer s Iliad. The section of the text that
indicates that Homer can be an early humanist is when he writes, Here was the ugliest man who ever
came to Troy. Bandy legged he was, with one foot clubbed, both shoulders humped together, curving
over his caved in chest, and bobbing above them his skull warped to a point, sprouting clumps of
scraggly, woolly hair (Homer 750 BCE, 250 255). In this description of Thersites, Homer never calls

The World And Empires By Anthony Pagden
Peoples and Empires Throughout history there have been a multitude of different empires to rise up
and conquer land, along with the people inhabiting that land. More often than not, these empires fell.
Whether the empire was quickly abolished, or it maintained power for decades, most of them were
over thrown. Anthony Pagden, who at the time of publication was a history professor at John Hopkins,
wrote the book Peoples and Empires in 2003 to explain the history of the once Great European
Empires . These empires included, but are not limited to, the French, the Spanish, the British, and the
Roman Empire. One major idea of the content focuses on how these particular empires justified their
conquering, not only to themselves, but also to their followers and the people who rebelled against
them. Conquerors would travel to the ends of the earth in order to obtain more land which in turn is
more power. However, in order to do this they had to justify their actions to the individuals occupying
that land. In doing so, they fabricated what they assumed were acceptable reasons as to why an empire
was more luxurious, or in other words better , than the systems they had in place before. The most
common ideology between all of the empires was the simple idea of being civilized versus being
barbaric or savage . Pagden thoroughly explains how the empires used this ideology and coupled it
with small force to justify their actions and the overall concept of an empire: They

Animals Is Inhumane, Ineffective, And Unethical
Imagine your pet at home whether it is a cat, dog, rabbit, or even a rat being purposely infected with a
disease, blinded, or given poison to observe how long a poison takes to kill the animal. This is a daily
occurrence in the world. At a minimum, 100 million animals die each year due to experimentation
including dogs, cats, monkeys, sheep, and a variety of other animals. Is animal experimentation
necessary? Whether it is for military or medical research, or even cosmetic testing, activists argue that
no reason exists as to why any living thing should be subjected to cruel experimentation for the benefit
of human beings. Experimentation on animals is inhumane, ineffective, and unethical. Scientists who

Once the drug was given to humans with heart problems, the death rate increased by 30%. The FDA
has concluded over one half of newly approved drugs tested on animals had more serious side effects
when given to humans. An NIH clinical trial of fialuridine, a medication for Hepatitis B that was
tested on animals, was terminated after it caused liver failure in seven out of ten people. Five of these
people died and two required liver transplants after taking the drug. In 2003, a company by the name
of Élan Pharmaceuticals had to terminate trials of an Alzheimer s vaccine. The vaccine had cured
Alzheimer s mice but when given to humans, it led to brain inflammation. Another example includes
Vioxx, an arthritis drug tested on animals, which was reported to have caused an estimated 140,000
heart attacks and strokes before being terminated. Not only has animal experimentation harmed
human lives, but also potentially caused us to ignore real cures. Drugs that fail in animal testing are
discarded of. When drugs are disposed of it could cause us to potentially ignore real cures. For
instance, the drug Aspirin. Aspirin is one of our most relied upon pain relievers. When given to mice,
rats, dogs, cats, rabbits or monkeys: Aspirin causes teratogenic malformations. If scientists would have
tested the drug Acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin) on animals, they most likely would have disposed of it

The Effect Of Graffiti On The Berlin Wall
Graffiti is something that nearly every place in the world has to deal with. Graffiti can range from
anything, it can be something that could be considered a beautiful mural, a gang tag claiming territory
for a particular gang, or just a personal tag someone decides to leave behind. In order to fully
understand graffiti and the messages behind it, it is essential to know many facts involving graffiti. It
is integral to know the time period when graffiti first showed up, how the intent or meaning of graffiti
has changed, how graffiti is on a global scale, political messages behind graffiti, and finally how
vandalism and graffiti are treated as crimes. With all these facts in mind, anyone will be able to

One very widely known example of this is the graffiti that used to be part of the Berlin Wall. The
western side was covered with graffiti, as people from West Germany wanted to express their ideas
about the wall. The graffiti on the Berlin Wall criticized and ridiculed the eastern German government.
When discussing the graffiti on the Berlin Wall, it is neither representative of gangs claiming territory
nor of a particular style that is striving to be considered art. The graffiti on the Berlin Wall is solely
representative of feelings that people wanted to convey in politics and in a very different world. In
such a complicated political matter, one of the ways citizens wanted to voice their opinions in politics
was through graffiti. In fact, according to an article discussing the impacts of the Berlin Wall, The
graffiti on the Berlin Wall has come to represent freedom of censorship, particularly from the East
German government, unity in a people torn apart by war, and the fall of the Iron Curtain that divided
Western Europe and the Soviet Eastern Europe. Through this medium artists have impacted world
politics and helped to rebuild a nation into the united, developed state that has an influential role in the
international community today (Graffiti on the Berlin Wall). This quote discusses the socio political
impact that the graffiti on the Berlin Wall had. With this in mind, it is easily understandable that
graffiti has the ability to influence or sway politics. In recent times, graffiti has had more and more of
an impact on politics, as it is something that allows any person to convey their political beliefs to a
population of people who otherwise would not have had a point of view of a particular ideology. This
is demonstrated by the graffiti that was on the Berlin Wall, which is why graffiti has a political
meaning in the modern

George Frederickson s article, The State of Social Equity in American Public Administration, analyzes
the evolution of social equity in American public administration, outlines examples of the ever
widening social equity gap, and charges public administrators to walk the talk about social equity. In
his thesis statement, Frederickson argues that available data suggest that despite the long history of

Frederickson aptly makes the connection between public administration and democracy and warns of
the grave consequences of treating the issue of social equity, which is central to these tenets
superficially. He warns that the foundation of democracy is threatened by a weak social equity regime.
It is the point that has caught my attention.
The author was able to draw a correlation between social equity and democracy. He argues, If
disparities of participation and influence become further entrenched and if average citizens give up on
democratic government unequal citizenship could take on a life of its own, weakening American
democracy for a long time to come. With this assertion, the writer posits that societal inequality, due to
unequal citizenship is a direct threat to the survival of America s democracy. People who feel left out

1904 to William Skinner and Grace Burrhus. His father was a lawywer and his mother was a naturally
bright woman. Skinner had only one sibling; his brother died at the age of sixteen. Skinner lived most
of his life in Susquhanna. He did not leave the house he was born in until he left to go to college. He
was raised very close to his grandparents, who had a major impact on his early life. He was also close
to his parents. He and his mother and father all graduated from the same high school. This was the
same school that he had attended for all twelve years of his education.

He eventually wrote a mediocre book for the oil companies just to save his self respect. After writing
the book, Skinner spent six months in New York.
In the Fall, Skinner went off to Harvard to begin his study of Psychology. Animal behavior had always
interested Skinner, but Human behavior was his main interest. He had always taken notice of the way
that people reacted to certain situations. This interest had become obvious when he was in grade
school and had continued throughout the rest of his life. Skinner worked hard for the first time in his
life at Harvard. He realized that he was far behind in his studies. For two years he did nothing but
study pshchology and go to his classes. He graduated in 1931.
In the spring of 1936 the end of Skinner s junior Fellowship was approaching and he had no job. The
best job offer that the Department of Psychology could pass along to him was from a YMCA college.
Skinner had a friend who was teaching that summer at Minnesota, and he mentioned Skinner to R.M.
Elliott, who was looking for someone to teach small sections of a big introductory course. This was
the first time that Skinner had taught anything. It was also the first time that he had really learned
college pshchology, so he had to study hard to stay ahead of his students.
Skinner experienced a renewed interest in Literature when he realized that the written word could also
be analyzed for human behavior. He stopped trying to write

Are Kiwi Men Better in Handling Cash than Women?
Here s an interesting question. Are Kiwi men better at handling their finances than women?
A compiled research reveals that men are more likely to own a credit card with a balance amounting to
at least $10,000. The study also shows that men are less inclined to have money in the bank and are
more likely to bear personal loans. In contrast, women are more likely to own a savings account. The
only difference is that most women have a lower savings balance.

Third-Class Status Of Indigenous Community
The factors discussed up until now have involved obvious discrepancies towards indigenous
communities, but the one to follow is more subtle and has gone un noticed for too long and needs to
be brought to attention. The perpetuation of a second or even third class status of indigenous people,
the old origins of this status is still largely present in societies around the world, and this
misconception has been widely adopted. Their negative depiction in cinematography and the failure to
properly educate up and coming generations on indigenous people, contributes to the minuscule
progress that has occurred in recognizing and respecting indigenous rights. As liberals believe in the
importance of teachings as a means of spreading awareness and sharing a cooperative and progressive
school of thought. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Writing Log
Reading and Writing is something that is done without even thinking about it, to me it is like a natural
instinct that one just has developed over the years. I was surprised with my reading and writing log
because I would have never expected to read and write as much as it shows in my daily log that I had
to keep for a week. I noticed that I tend to divide my reading and writing into three categories such as
school, leisure and work. During the writing diary assignment I had to also keep track of the format I
used to read and write. This log showed me that I tend to do about the same amount of use of
electronic and physical formats. Most of my time was spent in academic reading. The reason why
academic reading takes most of my time is because as a college student, I am expected to read on my
own time to be prepared for the in class discussion. My daily log showed that I spend about 5 hours of
my day reading for school. This number will most likely increase due to my chemistry and
microbiology classes because as weeks pass I will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My job requires me do a lot of writing because I have to write letters in which I have to always be
formal. Writing is required because I have to write e mails, estimates and invoices to the costumers
which also have to always be formal. Most of my writing involves me using technology since I am
away from home so I am not able to do it in person. At the same time I have to keep track of
everything that I do so it is involves me writing everything down on paper format. According to my
daily reading and writing log I wrote for about 2 hours a day for my job. It was surprising to find out
that I can write for about 10 hours a week for my job because I would have never thought of spending
that much time writing. I believe that the amount of writing that I do for my job will most likely
remain the same amount because there are still many things to do according to my job

Summary Of The Struggle Between White Women And White Women
The first article, published in 1993, deals with the struggle of poor white women after the civil rights
movement. The article focuses on the life of women and black men during the Ku Klux Klan era.
In this article Hodes gives examples of the brutally violence when black men and especially white
women were targeted by the KKK. Even white women had to endure the violence acts by the Klan,
because the protection of white women was not only about the race, but also by class.
Hodes focuses especially on the sexual liasion between white women and black men. As a punishment

Interest Point Detectors
Interest Point Detectors
Introduction:
How it started
Our original idea was to implement the beginning stages of a paper on measuring the driver fatigue
detection from a sequence of images []. Majority of accidents reported are due to driver fatigue. One
of the important parameter to be detected to measure the driver s alertness is to track his/her eyes in
the given image sequence. Eye detection is an active research area in computer vision. Applications
can range from face detection to biometrics. Canthus (Eye corners) is a very stable feature that can be
constantly detected from a facial image irrespective of the eye status or gaze direction. Canthus is
initially defined and treated as a corner (interest point). Interest point detectors like Harris and
SUSAN are being studied and discussed in this report. These corner detectors are evaluated to find
which one suits best for this application. Interest Points
An interest point is a relatively important kind of localized two dimensional image structure with a
mathematical description. It can be defined as the intersection of two edges or as a point with two
dominant and different edge directions. Corners , T , Y and X junctions have the same definition and
fall under this category. Although the interest points constitute a very small portion in the image, the
information on shape is concentrated at these points.
Image corner detection is an important task in various computer vision and image understanding

Bamford Case Study
Bamford 3 falls to the middle or younger sibling. This particular kid has an amazing skill of
frustrating everyone by having a lack of common sense which you cannot blame them for. They are
not intentionally trying to not hear you they have a severe case of selective hearing. How could you
blame them for that? After asking them ten times to help out with the chores or dinner one might start
to develop some frustration. Parents, however, understand how to handle these types of kids by
speaking slowly and not giving them too many tasks such as chores. This causes some issues between
the other siblings and the ditsy daisy. While the other kids are doing chores or helping with dinner
they see the other going out with friends, or even having

Janet Waking By John Crowe Ransom
The poem, Janet Waking , symbolizes a turning point in a child s life. It starts out with a young kid in
a slumber, and it ends with a mourning of a beloved pet. This shift that John Crowe Ransom creates
shows just how drastic this step in life was. Since the story is told from a father s point of view, we get
to look through a mature lense of how the child is impacted and just how young and undeveloped her
mind is. As the poem goes on, we finally see what message the author is trying to convey. Throughout
the poem, the poet carefully picks and constructs words and sentences that perfectly give the poem life
and meaning. Firstly, the name of the hen is Chucky. Chucky is most definitely not a common name
for a chicken, let alone for a hen.

Contraception And Safe Sex Education Essay
Within the United States, 38 states of the 48 states examined have some form of abstinence only
education. Of those 38, 21 have laws in place that require schools to solely teach abstinence only sex
education (Stranger Hall, Kathrin F. and David W. Hall 4). The logic behind such practices is to
prevent teenagers from engaging in intercourse and to decrease the rate of teen pregnancies. The
curriculum of abstinence only programs stresses that teenagers should not engage in intercourse since
that is the only way to guarantee one will not get pregnant. Information about contraceptives and safe
sex to prevent pregnancies and the spread of STDs is not mentioned, and in fact is against those 21
states laws regarding use of funds to discuss in the class. The only information about contraceptives
that is allowed while using those funds is emphasizing the failure rates (Advocates for Youth).
Contrary to what these states are trying to accomplish, the rate of pregnancy is much higher than the
median of the United States. Of the 48 states studied, the median rate of pregnancy is 62.5 per 1000
girls aged 14 19. However, the median of pregnancies for states with strictly abstinence only
education is 76 per 1000 girls (Stranger Hall, Kathrin F. and David W. Hall Table 3). The top 5 states
with the highest pregnancy rates for girls aged 15 19 (recorded age represents the age at which the
pregnancy ended) are New Mexico, 255 per 1000; Mississippi, 241 per 1000; Texas, 235 per 1000;

Migrant Hostel And 10 Mary Street
An individual s sense of belonging is determined not only by their own choices but also attitudes of
others.
Belonging is the connection to person place, or thing. Belonging can have a positive impacts for
example, immigrants arriving in a new country and bad examples can include someone blending into a
bad population. Poems Migrant Hostel and 10 Mary Street portray belonging via literary techniques
by Peter Skrzynecki, and also The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan convey belonging and how ones choices
and attitudes of others affect the sense of acceptance. Migrant Hostel includes poet Skrzynecki and his
family living in a hostel along with other Polish migrants, Peter Skrzynecki documents his
experiences, as well as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The objective was to establish a comparison between Polish migrants and birds such as pigeons. Birds
are free and accepted in their micro communities, unlike Skrzynecki whom is isolated from belonging.
The poet struggles to find a sense of belonging, using the technique irony to highlight his search for
acceptance. Alternatively, another poetic technique can include imagery which is utilized in the line A
barrier at the main gate . Skrzynecki thoroughly conveys the barricade that segregates the foreigners
from Australian society. This leads to separation of the Migrants and the rest of the local Australian
society being an example of racism at the poets time. The poet, Peter Skrzynecki adequately applies
techniques to convey belonging in order to encourage society to accept migrants who have already
experienced hardship. In summary, Skrzynecki uses an array of techniques to evoke the search of
belonging to the readers.
The poem 10 Mary Street by Peter Skrzynecki portrays a sense of acceptance to place as he feels a
bond to his childhood home which offered him stability in a new environment . The poem by
Skrzynecki conveys feelings to readers received from the place of his memories, in the home. The
poet utilizes literary technique personification, which allows the audience to visualize his admirable
home. This is demonstrated in the quote The house stands in its China blue coat with paint guaranteed
for another 10 years . The notion

Introduction To Daily Logarithmic Returns Is Done By...
This study employs the adjusted price of GBP exchange rates for 12 different currencies where BNKR
s investments are dominated in, during the period of January 2010 till July 2015. The total number of
daily logarithmic returns of each exchange rate is 1455. The daily logarithmic return is defined as:
R_t=ln*((P_t P_(t 1))/P_(t 1) )
Where P_t is the adjusted spot exchange rate at time t. The descriptive statistics summary of daily
logarithmic returns is reported in Table 1. Therefore, assessing the exposure of currency risk was done
by reviewing both return and risk profile for data sets.
Secondly, for the assessment of currency risk s exposure, VaR method based on incorporated volatility
using EWMA approach is used as the main currency risk measure. In this study, the value of VaR is
calculated for each exchange rate with a confident level of 99% and a decay factor (lambda =0.94) for
the next trading day in 31 of July 2015. As long as VaR is more extreme measure than standard
deviation, it is naturally that VaR would be much higher than standard deviation.
Since the average standard deviation of the developed markets is around 0.6% compared with the
0.71% in the devolving markets, it indicates that the Risk and VaR value in the developed markets
(1.5%) is less than the developing countries (1.71%). Hence, VaR showed that investing in US and
Swiss markets have the lowest currency risk in the developed markets, and investing in Pero and
Mexico have the lowest one in

The Importance Of Workplace Conflict
Conflict is a natural part of human existence. It occurs in just about any environment and the
workplace is no exception. Conflicts arise when there is a difference of opinion between two or more
persons (Cohen, 2014). Workplace conflicts can be difficult to resolve, however, unresolved conflicts
can result in poor interpersonal relationships, compromise employee loyalty, and even jeopardize
quality and safety (Bowers Ferron, 2014). While unresolved conflicts may have deleterious effects on
the work environment, healthy conflict resolution can lead to creativity and growth (Bowers Ferron,
2014). One of the main sources of conflict between employees, supervisors, and the human resource
(HR) department is poor communication. Nurses can experience conflict with other nurses due
perceptions of favoritism, poor team work, and unfair work assignments as can employees in any field
of work. According to Cohen (2014), a common misconception among nurse managers is that nurses
can resolve conflicts on their own with little or no guidance. However, Cohen argues that most nurses
have little or no formal training in conflict resolution and that they often cope with conflict in the
workplace much like they do in their personal lives (2014). As a result, less than ideal conflict
resolution approaches such as avoidance behaviors and unprofessional body language or verbal
responses are used which serve only to further exacerbate problems (Cohen, 2014). Leaders have a

It is written from the unique perspective of a madman who is out to kill an old man because of his Evil Eye . The man accomplishes this but is overcome with guilt in the form of a beating heart for he loved the man. The madman gives himself up to the police when he can t bear to hear the heart any longer. The original version of The Tell Tale Heart is far superior to the version written by me in a different perspective. The model is based on the three year duration in which the pre and post tests of student s knowledge related to effective teamwork are assessed through the feedback or questionnaire. On the other hand, the second article of Hernandez Linares et al (2015) has provided the conceptual framework on the transversal competences among engineering students. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The selected article of Zou Ko (2012) found the positive influence on the teamwork skills through the systematic intervention along with the identified behaviours of Chinese students in Hong Kong working in team. The researchers further demonstrated that students have developed the improved awareness along with the conception of teamwork after the development of systematic efforts. However, the authors noticed a decline in the division of work in the session of post test, which reflects a change of mindset of students in the appropriate direction. Moreover, certain changes have been observed in the students during interviews and it has been pointed out that the students did not get sufficient time for discussions in team work due to limited time between experiments and submission of reports and this influenced their team performance. This highlighted the students understanding about the significance of team work and communication with the team members. The aspects of dealing with the conflicts in teamwork have been highlighted in the interviews in the context of describing in written tests. The authors have also discussed the limitations of the study as they faced certain concerns for which they considered the alternative solutions. On the other hand, discussion of the study of Hernandez Linares et al (2015) pointed that the students of engineering are incapable of organise teamwork as compared to the students of other domains and this can be due to the practical character of this domain. This allowed the researchers to highlight the insufficient team work that can be supplemented or improved by the group tasks and with the help of different learning techniques. I knew Fairfield University was different than everything I had ever known before I began my journey there, but I wasn t prepared for how different it actually was. Fairfield University is an extremely expensive college the only reason I could afford to go there was because I was offered a scholarship for graduating from a high school in Bridgeport and even then I struggled to pay what was left of my tuition. • 6. Water Scarcity A Growing Threat Of Humanity Water Scarcity a Growing Threat to Humanity The world s population is growing. The need for water is rising with the birth of every child. Sooner than most people would want to admit, the water resources available in the world would be inadequate to cater for the needs of humanity. As developing countries seek to become industrialized, more water will be needed for their industries. The developed world is also not slowing down its water usage in its industries. Given the important part it plays in growth, the world is well in its path to facing its worse season yet: living without water. When one goes to a country where water problems are real, they find businesses have made water a prominent factor in determining whether or not to set up and run their businesses there. No one can afford to bury their head in the sand anymore. The water problem that is not far away in the future must be addressed now. Water resources by 2050 The society cannot afford to ignore the fact that water resources are limited. According to IFPRI (International Food Policy Research Institute), by 2050, there will be 4.8 billion people who will be struggling with limited water resources. This is over half of the world s population. As the world s population grows, there will be a greater need for economic development and more food. Factories producing grain use water more than any other input. In fact, water accounts for almost half of all inputs in the manufacturing industry across the globe. By ... • 12. The Characteristics Of The Humanist Movement In The Iliad There are many unknowns regarding who Homer was. His date of birth and death are still a mystery to modern day historians, ranging anywhere between the twelfth to eighth century BCE. As to where he was born, no one knows the exact location. Although there are many mysteries revolving around Homer s life, there is one known fact: his epics changed history forever. Homer s epics are one of the only few artifacts historians have to learn about Homer, which can reveal a lot if read carefully. After reading the Iliad, it became clear that Homer was an early Humanist, one who possibly shaped or inspired the Humanist movement in Classical Greece during the fifth and fourth century BCE. The Humanist movement during Classical Greece glorified the human body, which can be shown through the many sculptures and paintings created during the era. These sculptures resembled the ideal human body, the body every Greek should strive to achieve. The ideal body type was that of an athlete (PBS, 2017). There are hints of this image of the ideal body in Homer s Iliad. The section of the text that indicates that Homer can be an early humanist is when he writes, Here was the ugliest man who ever came to Troy. Bandy legged he was, with one foot clubbed, both shoulders humped together, curving over his caved in chest, and bobbing above them his skull warped to a point, sprouting clumps of scraggly, woolly hair (Homer 750 BCE, 250 255). • 13. The World And Empires By Anthony Pagden Peoples and Empires Throughout history there have been a multitude of different empires to rise up and conquer land, along with the people inhabiting that land. More often than not, these empires fell. Whether the empire was quickly abolished, or it maintained power for decades, most of them were over thrown. Anthony Pagden, who at the time of publication was a history professor at John Hopkins, wrote the book Peoples and Empires in 2003 to explain the history of the once Great European Empires . These empires included, but are not limited to, the French, the Spanish, the British, and the Roman Empire. One major idea of the content focuses on how these particular empires justified their conquering, not only to themselves, but also to their followers and the people who rebelled against them. Conquerors would travel to the ends of the earth in order to obtain more land which in turn is more power. However, in order to do this they had to justify their actions to the individuals occupying that land. In doing so, they fabricated what they assumed were acceptable reasons as to why an empire was more luxurious, or in other words better , than the systems they had in place before. The most common ideology between all of the empires was the simple idea of being civilized versus being barbaric or savage . Pagden thoroughly explains how the empires used this ideology and coupled it with small force to justify their actions and the overall concept of an empire: They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One very widely known example of this is the graffiti that used to be part of the Berlin Wall. The western side was covered with graffiti, as people from West Germany wanted to express their ideas about the wall. The graffiti on the Berlin Wall criticized and ridiculed the eastern German government. When discussing the graffiti on the Berlin Wall, it is neither representative of gangs claiming territory nor of a particular style that is striving to be considered art. The graffiti on the Berlin Wall is solely representative of feelings that people wanted to convey in politics and in a very different world. In such a complicated political matter, one of the ways citizens wanted to voice their opinions in politics was through graffiti. In fact, according to an article discussing the impacts of the Berlin Wall, The graffiti on the Berlin Wall has come to represent freedom of censorship, particularly from the East German government, unity in a people torn apart by war, and the fall of the Iron Curtain that divided Western Europe and the Soviet Eastern Europe. Through this medium artists have impacted world politics and helped to rebuild a nation into the united, developed state that has an influential role in the international community today (Graffiti on the Berlin Wall). Interest Point Detectors Interest Point Detectors Introduction: How it started Our original idea was to implement the beginning stages of a paper on measuring the driver fatigue detection from a sequence of images []. Majority of accidents reported are due to driver fatigue. One of the important parameter to be detected to measure the driver s alertness is to track his/her eyes in the given image sequence. Eye detection is an active research area in computer vision. Applications can range from face detection to biometrics. Canthus (Eye corners) is a very stable feature that can be constantly detected from a facial image irrespective of the eye status or gaze direction. Canthus is initially defined and treated as a corner (interest point). Interest point detectors like Harris and SUSAN are being studied and discussed in this report. These corner detectors are evaluated to find which one suits best for this application. Interest Points An interest point is a relatively important kind of localized two dimensional image structure with a mathematical description. It can be defined as the intersection of two edges or as a point with two dominant and different edge directions. Corners , T , Y and X junctions have the same definition and fall under this category. The logic behind such practices is to prevent teenagers from engaging in intercourse and to decrease the rate of teen pregnancies. The curriculum of abstinence only programs stresses that teenagers should not engage in intercourse since that is the only way to guarantee one will not get pregnant. Information about contraceptives and safe sex to prevent pregnancies and the spread of STDs is not mentioned, and in fact is against those 21 states laws regarding use of funds to discuss in the class. The only information about contraceptives that is allowed while using those funds is emphasizing the failure rates (Advocates for Youth). The total number of daily logarithmic returns of each exchange rate is 1455. The daily logarithmic return is defined as: R_t=ln*((P_t P_(t 1))/P_(t 1) ) Where P_t is the adjusted spot exchange rate at time t. The descriptive statistics summary of daily logarithmic returns is reported in Table 1. Therefore, assessing the exposure of currency risk was done by reviewing both return and risk profile for data sets. Secondly, for the assessment of currency risk s exposure, VaR method based on incorporated volatility using EWMA approach is used as the main currency risk measure. • 35. The Importance Of Workplace Conflict Conflict is a natural part of human existence. It occurs in just about any environment and the workplace is no exception. Conflicts arise when there is a difference of opinion between two or more persons (Cohen, 2014). Workplace conflicts can be difficult to resolve, however, unresolved conflicts can result in poor interpersonal relationships, compromise employee loyalty, and even jeopardize quality and safety (Bowers Ferron, 2014). While unresolved conflicts may have deleterious effects on the work environment, healthy conflict resolution can lead to creativity and growth (Bowers Ferron, 2014). One of the main sources of conflict between employees, supervisors, and the human resource (HR) department is poor communication. Nurses can experience conflict with other nurses due perceptions of favoritism, poor team work, and unfair work assignments as can employees in any field of work. According to Cohen (2014), a common misconception among nurse managers is that nurses can resolve conflicts on their own with little or no guidance. However, Cohen argues that most nurses have little or no formal training in conflict resolution and that they often cope with conflict in the workplace much like they do in their personal lives (2014). As a result, less than ideal conflict resolution approaches such as avoidance behaviors and unprofessional body language or verbal responses are used which serve only to further exacerbate problems (Cohen, 2014).
