Social stereotypes and happiness
The story of the movie The Pursuit of Happyness directed by Gabriele Muccino portrays a family
who struggles with finding enough money to pay taxes and afford living expenses. The movie
takes a place in San Francisco during the 80s. The two main characters are the father Chris
Gardner and his son Christopher, Will Smith and Jaden Smith respectively. Gardner tries to support
his family. But every time he attempts to make things better, they always end up worse. Gardner in
the story wonders on how to be happy? He earns his money by selling the bone density ... Show
In another perspective, fatherhood for Gardner is like a job for him. Because he loses his wife,
he needs to provide joy, fun and help for his son Christopher which is not an easy job to do.
Those fathers, who spend more time with their children, have a better life than others who spend
most of their time working and gaining money. However, being a father as a single parent like
Chris gives him the enthusiasm to do his best and replace his wife s role to have a better life
with his son. Yet, this decreases the happiness that Gardner possesses. According to Scott
Coltrane, a sociologist at the University of California, points out that Father s style of parenting
has changed too. Fathers are beginning to look more like mothers (qtd. in Cullen and
Grossman). Before Linda leaves the family, she works double shifts to make more money to
afford the living expenses and to help her husband. So Chris is the one who takes more care of
their son than the mother, Linda. Gardner seems to be happier being close to his son. There are
many scenes in the movie that show how Gardner and Christopher are happy of being together.
Nonetheless, there is only one scene that Christopher not even misses his mother; instead he asks

Cooper defines homework as task assigned to students by school teachers that are meant to be
carried out during non school hour. (Cooper 2015) However, is it effective enough to justify its
extension of the six hours of school students experience each weekday? As Bennett explains in

thinkers, yet many classrooms continue to use learning structures without examining their

achieving the opposite of what it needs to do.
More than any other aspect of education, homework has been the cause of more friction between
schools and home and becomes the prime battlefield when schools, families, and communities view
one another as adversaries. Recent homework debates in this country have centered on questions of
how much homework at which grades produce what kinds of learning gains. A recent analysis of
homework research by the Center for Public Education (2007) found that homework at the
elementary level is counterproductive, while homework in middle and high school shows some
correlation with small increases in test scores. But those findings do not hold across the board.

If an individual eating too little protein or none at all there body would start to break down
muscle tissue in order to get protein. When the deficiency of protein goes on for a long period of
time a person will start to have poor growth, abnormal hair growth and very weak immune
systems. Also in many countries there are child that suffer from Kwashiorkor, which is due to a

body can use. From my iProfile, I consumed 1273 kCal, which was within acceptable
macronutrient distribution range. My intake was about 318 g and I received most of this from

Firstly, the craftwork that I would like to review is called Degikup Basket by Louisa Keyser.
The artist was also known as Datsolalee who was a Washoe Native American basket maker.
Degikup Basket is basically a large basket that consist small flat base but wider in the middle and
then same diameter as base for the hole at the top. In other words, the craft produced is almost
similar to a bird nest which has the concave side and smaller top. Moreover, the craft work get
the people attention after it has been documented by Keyser s sponsor who sees the art talent
that she had. Apart from that, the interesting part about the basket is it is created through a
weaving process by hands which suggest that it is carefully produced. It could be seen that the
influence on the conception of this craftwork are based on Keyser s living place. The exterior of
the craftwork is likely to store a traditional value and symbolize her community custom. The
simplicity portrayed by the design indicates its friendly function as it serves either as a place to
keep miscellaneous items or acts as a collection to the people. In addition, the craftwork also

Human civilization marked the beginning of modern day legal systems. The advancements in
societies resulted in maintaining certain rules and regulations to continue this progress. Every
society has its own set of laws which are in some ways distinct from others. Many of these laws
have common sections and underlying guidelines. This could be because some societies decide
to retain certain aspects of their customs after breaking out of another society. It could also be the

I received a call from an elderly shut in lady explaining that she had no access to transportation
and that there was some problem with her SNAP benefits that month. She was in poor health and
had specific dietary needs. Her friend, that normally would help, was not able to take her to a local
pantry. She wanted to know if we would be able to bring just a little foodto tie her over until
someone could take her somewhere for food. Imagine the feeling of insecurity that this woman
must have been experiencing. This is just one of many calls the food bank receives. It is just such
a call that made the mapping project GMFB conducted so necessary.

While it may be the assumption that larger areas of food insecurity are in the more densely

more factors is necessary when determining need. Some of the counties GMFB services have large
rural areas where transportation can be a barrier as well as limited access to food sources near
them. Figure 1 below also indicates the locations of the agencies GMFB supports and gives us a
clear picture of how well we are meeting the areas of need as well as any gaps.

food insecurity in the northwestern part of the county and a smaller area with a low level of food
